Afghanistan
Roots of recent deadly attacks have been found, says President Ghani
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
says the roots of the recent deadly attacks in Kabul and other key cities and provinces have been ascertained.

In his speech at the ARG Palace mosque, President Ghani said at least eleven suspects having links with the attacks have been tossed in the clink
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
and the main roots have been found.

He said the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
group has also grabbed credit for the attacks as he slammed the group for ignoring both Allah and his prophet.

President Ghani further added that the center of the Taliban is Pakistain, apparently pointing towards the leadership council of the group.

He also added that the time has come for the Pak government to take a decision, insisting that they should accept what they accept for themselves as Islam does not differentiate between white and black.

In regards to the peace efforts, President Ghani said the nation wants peace and he is ready to lay down his for the sake of peace, insisting that the enemies should know that the Afghan nation will achieve success in both peace and war.

This comes as the Afghan intelligence chief and minister of interior said Thursday that undeniable information and evidences have been shared with the Pak officials regarding the recent attacks.

Arabia
Religious discourse and the diagnosis of Sahwa
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] On 7 October 1993, a royal decree was issued for the establishment of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, with its full nomenclature being The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance.

From its preamble, we come to know that Sheikh Mufti General Abdul Aziz bin Baz had adjudged "the need to establish the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments and guidance and advocacy to God Almighty, and our support for it". At that time, the state of Islamic understanding in the region was characterized by agitation and impulsiveness.

Its rhetoric opposed the Gulf War, the deployment of American forces, and there was a rise in ’jihadist literature’ after the Afghan-Soviet war. All these developments made governments more interested than ever in monitoring the religious discourse, and controlling any potential political fallout.

Monitoring the radical discourse
Before the establishment of the Ministry, anyone could deliver a lecture in any mosque or distribute political flyers in any shop or mosque. The government had to find a formula for institutionalizing the religious discourse against any politicization of any religious interpretation of the time.

The implementation of the royal decree in mid-1994 helped extinguish the fires. The symbols of the so-called ’Sahwa’ or ’awakening’ were seized before things could get out of hand.

A few days ago, Dr. Tewfik al-Sudairi, deputy minister of Islamic affairs, published a book entitled Diagnosing the Sahwa - Analysis and Recollections, in which he recalls the different trends of the times.

The author admits that the current situation allows him to write such a book and bring out memories out of the drawer and in to the printing press.

Al-Sudairi is known for his moderate views ‐ both in the administrative and intellectual realms. He has been critical of the Moslem Brüderbund and the Sahwa movement since his early years, although his criticism was not abrasive because of the circumstances of the past. The ministry, since its establishment, could not stay away from all the confusion of various Islamic currents.

On the one hand, the Moslem Brüderbund developed its own strategies for garnering leadership, while the Sahwa sought to spread its influence through propaganda and through its control over mosques.

These two trends opposed al-Madinah Salafism, what is currently known as al-Jamiyya. However,
it was a brave man who first ate an oyster...
the ministry now has more than 90,000 mosques, but still these currents wish to dominate them.

A guiding light
In the book Dr. Tewfik al-Sudairi says: "My generation witnessed the refraction of the national left, and the beginning of the glow of Islamic thought, or what can be called the thought of the lucrative interpretation and the employment of religion specifically with a political interest. I was aware of this new wave and I followed the intellectual movement of my predecessors which took full form before the 1967 war. But I have not fully witnessed it because of my age."

"I also grew up in a conservative and religious environment that is deeply loyal to the identity of the Saudi state, and therefore I cannot write about that period as I write about the Islamic political dynamic movement since I witnessed it in school, mosques, the university, the cultural activities and the different walks of life."

Dr. Tewfik al-Sudairi discusses in the book the formation of the Moslem Brüderbund, the Juhayman incident and the effects of the Sahwa. Saudi newspapers have published several reviews of the book, according importance to this book, given the position and the eminence of the writer.

The book can be turned into a guide at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, in order to immunize the workers from the radical ideas of various Islamist movements. This is not difficult, as this lies at the core of the ministry's work. I recall that one of the main objectives and policies of the Ministry, specifically its second objective, refers to the subject of "qualified preachers".

The book could prove useful in refining the qualification of those responsible for religious discourse. al-Sudairi is not far from drawing policies and adapting to the great Saudi shift against the outlook of the past 30 years that destroyed, exhausted and ruined both society and government.

Let the experience be a lesson to us; vital institutions lead societies to change, especially since there is a political desire to bridge the gap and overcome the old discourse. It is a difficult and necessary task so as not to witness turmoil once or twice every year, leaving behind many who neither repent nor remember.

Gargash: Arab coalition’s action on Aden crisis has prevented strife
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash said on Friday that the Arab coalition’s prudent action on Aden’s crisis avoided strife which is due to absence of wisdom among different parties.

"The priority is defeating the Houthis and their project. Serious Yemeni dialogue is required to deal with issues which have negatively accumulated," he added on Twitter.

Gargash also said that in addition to putting priorities first, a political initiative is important given the major "cracks in the Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
rebellion’s stance and legitimacy."

Fishing in troubled waters
"It’s important to confirm to those who incite strife and fish in troubled waters that the UAE’s stance is a mirror of Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
’s orientation as we’re building a strategic partnership that includes Yemen’s crisis and goes beyond it," he added.

The minister also commented on Arab media and said: "Responsible Arab media does not distort regional stances to defame them but it does so based on its analysis of policies that involved themselves in Arab affairs. Actions must have reactions."

Pakistan will not allow its land to be used against neighbours: FO Cannot load M3U8: Crossdomain access denied
[GEO.TV] The Foreign Office on Friday strongly rejected accusations of Pakistain supporting the Afghan Taliban
...Arabic for students...
and Haqqani network, and said the country will not allow its land to be used against any of its neighbours.

In the weekly press briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal said Pakistain strongly rejects accusations of supporting the Afghan Taliban and the Haqqani network and opposes terrorism in any shape and form.

Pakistain has been rendering continuous sacrifices for the cause of global peace. It will not allow its land to be used against any of its neighbouring countries, and it expects the same from its neighbours, said the spokesperson.

The FO spokesperson reiterated that focus should be on eliminating safe havens of the TTP, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar in Afghanistan.

Pakistain has constructed 975 posts along its border with Afghanistan, while Afghanistan has built nearly 200 posts only, said Faisal.

470 attacks were carried out in Pakistain from Afghanistan, he said.

The spokesperson noted that the 27 suspects handed over to Afghan authorities recently were in connection to the Afghan Taliban and Haqqani network.

We want a solution to the Afghan issue in accordance with the wishes of the Afghan public, the spokesperson said, adding that Pakistain wants immediate and dignified return of Afghan refugees to their country.

Pakistain’s foreign policy is in accordance with the wishes of its people and national interests, he said.

Afghan allegations based on misconceptions caused by foreign elements: NSC
[GEO.TV] The National Security Committee (NSC) on Friday, in a statement issued, said the allegations by the Afghan government, following a recent spate of terrorist attacks in Kabul, are based on "misconceptions created by certain foreign elements".

The committee expressed the resolve to forge ahead, despite difficulties, with positive engagement with Afghanistan, including the already planned visit of the Pak delegation to Kabul on February 3, 2018, for discussions on Pakistain-proposed "Afghanistan-Pakistain Action Plan for Solidarity".

Expressing satisfaction on the progress made with regard to border controls with Afghanistan, the NSC noted that the Afghan government should support the fencing of the Pakistain-Afghanistan border
...also known as Pashtunistan, home of ignorance, poverty, and automatic weapons...
as being in the interest of both countries.

The meeting also reviewed the actions taken by the federal and provincial governments to fulfil the country’s international responsibilities under the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) framework.

It expressed satisfaction over the objectives achieved so far and directed the concerned ministries to complete the few outstanding actions at the earliest.

The NSC also directed that the achievements made by Pakistain in fulfilling its international obligations should be fully shared with the FATF, and expressed its hope that the task force will not be politicised by a few countries.

UN urges new talks with Koreas
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has underlined the necessity for key players to hold "serious" talks on North Korea's nuclear crisis following a thaw in relations between the two Koreas.

"Our objective remains the peaceful denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula," Guterres told reporters at the UN headquarters on Friday.

"For that, it is absolutely essential that serious discussion take place among the key actors in this process and the UN will do everything possible to encourage them in that regard," he added.

Guterres pointed to the unanimity of the UN Security Council members to slap sanctions against Pyongyang, saying the unified position "has created the conditions" for addressing the North Korean nuclear threat "through diplomatic engagement."

In December 2017, the Security Council imposed a new round of US-engineered economic sanctions against Pyongyang in an attempt to cut off revenue to its military program.

The UN chief is scheduled to visit South Korea next week to hold talks with leaders in Seoul and also attend the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.

US move turns spotlight on Al Sabreen movement, the arms of Iran in Palestine
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Paleostinian Al Sabreen movement, active in Gazoo and the West Bank, was in the news again when the State Department on Wednesday announced that it was listing the organization on its terror black list.

The Al Sabreen movement was founded by dissident Shiite leaders of the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
(PIJ) in April 2014, has taken ideological inspiration from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, as well as the Lebanese "Hezbollah" militia, calling publicly for the Iranian expansion project in the region and promoting Iran as the main defender of Islam and the only country that is concerned for the Paleostinian case.

Sabreen movement
Mashreq News site which is close to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard has revealed in a special report seen by Al Arabiya.Net, that Al Sabreen movement received funds from Iran. According to the report, Iranian charity organizations used a great opportunity for the Shiite ideas to spread among the Paleostinians in Gazoo. After a while, a large number of them declared their conversion to Shiism, which paved the way to establish the first Paleostinian political Shiite group in Gazoo under the name of the Al Sabreen movement.

Mohammed Harb, one of the activists involved in the movement in Rafah, talked about the reasons behind the split in a previous interview on The Monitor site, where he revealed that the Al Sabreen movement was established in 2010 as a reformative movement and as part of the Islamic Jihad movement calling for the revival of Fathi Shiqaqi tought, the first founder of the Islamic Jihad, that called for an Islamic revolution following the Khomeini and the Iranian revolution.

Expansion
Al Sabreen movement activity expanded in Gazoo when it was under the control of Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbung millipede,, but they have their disagreements since July 6, 2015. Press sources reported that a decision by Hamas leadership to prohibit and end the Al Sabreen movement, because it was proven that the movement was involved in acts that went against the beliefs of the people of Gazoo , but apparently this could not be done because of Iranian pressure on Hamas.

In many videos and interviews published on YouTube, Hisham Salem, the Secretary General of Al Sabreen Movement, glorifies the Iranian regime and its supreme leader Ali Khamenei, as well as the Iranian position on Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...

#1  I am just curious if any linguists here know if the Arabic "Al Sabreen" has a common root with Hebrew's "Sabra?"

I can see the Iranians trying to appropriate a word for natives of Israel.

But my language skills with Hebrew are bad and Arabic, non-existent.

Arab foreign ministers seek ‘multilateral’ process to revive Mideast peace talks
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Arab foreign ministers on Thursday called for the creation of a UN-backed "multilateral mechanism" to help revive the grinding of the peace processor between Israel and the Paleostinians.

The appeal was issued at the end of a two-day meeting to discuss US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s December 6 recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital which has sparked Arab anger.

Trump’s decision also to relocate the US embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv triggered deadly festivities in Paleostinian territories and was rejected in a non-binding UN General Assembly resolution.

The Paleostinians have frozen contacts with the Trump administration over the decision and said the United States can no longer mediate in the Middle East conflict following Trump’s decision.

...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
What Gen. Flynn knew and why he was targeted - 13 Aug 2015 GR article.
[Global Research 13 August 2015] If one was only to read mainstream news in the West, you would probably be inculcated with the myth that Islamic State (ISIS) appeared almost out of thin air and many governments in the Western world have been completely shocked by the rise of this terror group. Perhaps you would correctly blame the 2003 invasion and occupation of Iraq as a major reason why such extreme groups gained power in the region, in addition to blaming certain governments for supposedly marginalizing Sunni’s.

But what most mainstream readers will be miserably ignorant of is the fact that one of the main opposition groups fighting the Bashar al-Assad government in Syria has been itself, a group that has been trained, funded, aided and armed by NATO countries in collusion with Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Israel (to name a few). This reality has been completely omitted in numerous corporate media publications, once again demonstrating the inept and deceptive nature of mainstream news.

Some Western news outlets are still peddling the fallacy that the Obama administration misjudged the threat of , and was taken by surprise by the groups rise. Obama himself claimed in 2014 when responding to a question asking whether the US underestimated ISIS: "That their advance, their movement, over the last several months has been more rapid than the intelligence estimates and I think the expectations of policy makers both inside and outside of Iraq."

This narrative runs in stark contrast to a recently declassified US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) document from 2012 which was released by Judicial Watch after the watchdog group filed Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit. The DIA document warned:

ISI [the Islamic State of Iraq] could also declare an Islamic State through its union with other terrorist organisations in Iraq and Syria." (p.5)

In a recent interview with Mehdi HasMan of Al Jazeera, the former head of the DIA, Michael T. Flynn, reiterates that the Obama administration was warned about the potential of extreme groups gaining influence in the region but instead of halting the support for the Syrian opposition, the administration took the "wilful decision" to support the rebels anyway:

Flynn interview follows.

US in talks with Turkey on Manbij: Mattis
[ALMASDARNEWS] The U.S. is currently in talks with the Ottoman Turkish regime regarding the state of affairs inside the Syrian town of Manbij, U.S. Secretary of Defense James stated on Friday.

"I am not going to discuss [it] right now," Mattis told news hounds during his presser.

"It’s how do you balance the competing interests. I can just tell you it’s an active discussion right now with our ally, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....
," he added.

Ankara recently threatened to invade the town of Manbij, which is located in the northeastern countryside of Aleppo and near the Ottoman Turkish border.

Washington has urged Turkey to reconsider their plans, as U.S. troops are present in the area.
