Taliban Prevent Clerics From Leading Funerals Of Dead Soldiers
[ToloNews] Khost residents on Thursday claimed that some holy mans in the province refuse to perform funeral prayers for fallen Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (ANDSF) soldiers on due to threats against them by the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
According to Eid Mohammad, one resident, his brother Khial Mohammad was an ANA soldier who lost his life during a counter-insurgency operation in Janikhel district of the province.

Eid Mohammad said local holy mans in his home town refused to conduct his funeral prayer ceremony.

"Our own local Mullah did not come to perform the prayer ceremony for my brother," said Eid Mohammad.

"When we asked the Mullah why he would not conduct the funeral prayers of a security forces member who was his brother and countrymen, he said that when he returns to his own village he would face problems," said another brother of the victim, Noor Mohammad.

Some holy mans in Khost said they cannot conduct prayer services at funerals because of threats by the Taliban.

"The Taliban have imposed conditions for holy mans," said one holy man in Khost Maulavi Matiullah.

Meanwhile,
...back at the dirigible, Cynthia backed into the galley, the barbecue fork held in front of her.
Jack! she called. Where the hell are you?...

the council of religious scholars in Khost has confirmed the problem.

"We have asked the Mullah Imams about the issue several times, they say that their homes are located in mountains and plains and they can not perform funeral prayers because of threats," said Maulavi Shah Mahmood, head of Khost Religious Scholars Council.

"Those who live in the villages can not perform the prayers because of threats," said Maulavi Ezharuddin, head of Khost Hajj and Pilgrimage department.

Previously similar reports were received from Paktia where the holy mans also refused to perform funeral prayers for dead security force members.

Africa North
NYT: African Al Qaeda Terrorists Invoke Palestinian Conflict As Battle Cry
The New York Times: doing the propaganda work that the jihadis can’t. Those lads and lasses do love their frissons.
[Jpost] The report correlates Israeli diplomacy with the cause of Death Eaters throughout Africa.
The highly trained Times journalists are confusing marketing with bottom line conviction.
Al Qaeda Death Eaters in Africa are invoking Israel’s conflict with the Paleostinians as a new battle cry and as motivation for a string of attacks on the continent.
Uh huh. If so, they are really, really bad at accomplishing their stated goal of changing that reality, given that they’re missing their ostensible target by an entire continent.
Following Al Qaeda attacks in Kenya, in which 14 were killed, and Mali, in which 10 were killed and 24 maimed, affiliates with the terrorist organization cited "the Paleostinian cause" as a motive.
I somehow don’t remember that, but then my memory is dreadfully porous.
The New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

writers Dionne Searcey, David M. Halbfinger and Rukmini Callimachi deliberated whether the attacks may have been related to the US embassy move in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem seven months prior. Several organizations including Al Qaeda condemned the US for the move.
Why, then, were there so many attacks before the move?
The report stated that the "suffering of the Paleostinians" was an "animating cause" for Al Qaeda. It detailed biographies of the late Osama bin Laden
... who is now beyond all cares and woe...
, founder of Al Qaeda, which report that he cried watching news coverage of displaced Paleostinians who had been forced off their land when he was an adolescent.
And yet early reports about Al Qaeda’s complaints with the world as it is said nothing about the Palestinians, but only about unbeliever American troops in the holy land of Saudi Arabia and suchlike local problems. The Palestinians were only mentioned much, much later. Honestly, you’d think there was no institutional memory of what they’d reported less than two decades ago.
The report insinuated that Israel's treatment of the Paleostinian people is extreme to the extent that it influenced Al Qaeda and may have even had an effect on the actions of bin Laden, such as the 9/11 attack.
Utterly pathetic.
Al Qaeda Death Eaters are outspoken regarding the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict.

"We emphasize and appreciate the high efforts and beautiful words of all the vibrant jihadist work to prevent the Judaization of Paleostine," said a statement by Al Qaeda's leadership mentioned by SITE Intelligence Group who monitor murderous Moslem content online, according to the Times report.
Y’all go on appreciating all those bootless words and efforts, Al Qaeda and New York Times journalists alike. In the meantime the Jooooooos will establish themselvs even more firmly in the place from which you would uproot them.
The report further suggested that Israel benefits from the terror attacks in African countries, as "the violence may serve to advance [Israel's] efforts to make common cause with African regimes, particularly on security issues."
That’s actually true, but it isn’t Israel’s fault the victims of the jihadis look for allies who will help them defeat their attackers.
The Times article claims that Israel has been making strategic, aggressive moves into Africa to chip away at "what had been a reliable bloc of votes against Israel in the United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
, and flexing its muscles in a part of the world where African solidarity with Moslem nations had for decades mandated rejection of relations with Israel."
God forbid the Joooooos dare fight back in any way against those who would destroy them, including the New York Times.
Israel, according to the report, is involving itself in efforts to prevent Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, from importing Iranian weapons into the Gazoo strip.
What a shocking idea that is, to be sure.
The article then goes on to explain how Israel's technological advancements would be beneficial for African countries as a sort of trade for their public relations with Israel.
They provide value that the African nations can appreciate.
"Israeli officials can barely contain their glee at seeing the once-solid ideological support for the Paleostinians give way to flexible geopolitics," the report stated.
And the NYT’s journalists, by contrast, do not even try to contain their dismay.

Iranian Revolutionary Guard Behind Cyber-Attack On Australia - Report
[Jpost] The Australian government was targeted by Tehran-based hackers, American security firm Fireeye said.

Iranian hackers launched a cyber-attack against the Australian parliament with the intention to harm the Five Eyes Alliance [FVEY], the secret service alliance between five English speaking countries: the US, the UK, Canada, New Zealand and Australia, American security firm FireEye reported on Friday night.

Based on the style of the Friday morning attack, FireEye claimed it was connected to a technology firm called Mabna Institute which is connected to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

Australian media reported that the attack "was sophisticated this time around" and that all passwords in parliament computers were changed for safety.

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation [ABC] reported that China is also a possible suspect of the attack.

Europe
Germany sees sharp rise in deportations to North Africa, though numbers still small
[DW] More and more rejected asylum-seekers are being sent back to Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria, according to a new report. The German government wants to designate the countries as "safe" in order to accelerate the process.

Last year saw a 35 percent rise in the number of people deported to the Maghreb states of Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, the Rheinische Post reported on Friday, citing the German Interior Ministry.

Germany deported a total of 1,873 rejected asylum-seekers to the northern African countries last year, compared to 1,389 in 2017.

The number of deportations to the region last year was nearly 14 times higher than in 2015, the paper reported.

Morocco saw the most dramatic increase, with the number of deportees rising from 634 to 826.

MORE DEPORTATIONS TO RUSSIA, INDIA
Last year also saw a jump in deportations to other African countries, including Ghana and The Gambia
... The Gambia is actually surrounded by Senegal on all sides but its west coast. It has a population of about 1.7 million. The difference between the two is that in colonial days Senegal was ruled by La Belle France and The Gambia (so-called because there's only one of it, unlike Guinea, of which there are the Republic of Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, New Guinea, the English coin in circulation between 1663 and 1813, and Guyana, which sounds like it should be another one) was ruled by Britain...
, according to the ministry data.

Some 422 people were sent back to Russia last year, up from 184 from the previous year. India also saw a big jump in the number of deportations last year, from 32 to 212.

Controversial deportations to Afghanistan also rose, up from 121 to 284.

'SAFE' COUNTRIES?
The German government has been pushing for Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria to be added to the list of "safe countries of origin." Berlin argues that doing so would help speed up the asylum application process ‐ as well as deportations.

Their efforts stalled last week when the upper chamber of the German parliament, the Bundesrat, rejected a draft law to add the three countries and Georgia to the list.

Iraq
Iraq forms Joint Operations Command in Kirkuk without Peshmerga
[Rudaw] Iraqi military authorities have formed a Joint Operations Command from different army units to operate in Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
without the involvement of the Kurdish Peshmerga while Kurds oppose the move and have vowed to dismantle the command and create a new one.

"The formation of a forward headquarters of Joint Operations Command in Kirkuk is for the purpose of unity in commands," Lt. Gen. Saad Harbiyah, head of the Kirkuk Joint Operations Command, told Rudaw.

The office of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Kirkuk is reported to be taken over as headquarters of the new unit.

The new joint command includes the federal police, the Hashd al-Shaabi, counterterrorism forces and army units.

"All will be under one command for the purpose of understanding and uniting the security, intelligence and field ability for the sake of the Kirkuk province," added Lt. Gen. Harbiyah.

Ali Husseini, the Hashd al-Shaabi Northern Branch spokesperson told Rudaw that the Hashd is naturally part of Iraqi defense apparatus, and as such can operate in Kirkuk and be given a role in the joint operations command.

The Kurds have for their part called the move illegal and promised through Baghdad to reverse the plan and possibly form a new force.

"There are a number of legal and constitutional errors in establishing this operation room in Kirkuk," Shakhawan Abdullah, member of Kirkuk Normalization Committee, told Rudaw. "For example, members of that force are aliens and not natives to the city."

He added that the second problem is that the headquarters of the force in KDP's building, "which is occupied since October 16".

The latest announcement from the army contradicts a recent statement from the office of the Iraqi Prime Minister Abdil Abdul-Mahdi read that a joint force of Iraqi army and Peshmerga would be created for Kirkuk.

Newly-established military committees would determine locations where the Peshmerga or Iraqi forces are to be deployed, read a statement from the prime minister’s office.

fighters facing defeat in Syria are slipping across the border into Iraq, where they are destabilizing the country's fragile security, U.S. and Iraqi officials say.

Hundreds ‐ likely more than 1,000 ‐ IS fighters have crossed the open, desert border in the past six months, defying a massive operation by U.S., Kurdish, and allied forces to stamp out the remnants of the jihadi group in eastern Syria, according to three Iraqi intelligence officials and a U.S. military official.

terror group," said a source, referring to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Mohammed Kazali was among six suspected holy warriors detained by the Bukit Aman Special Branch Counter Terrorism Division in anti-terror sweeps between Dec 19 and Jan 28.

The turban, who had given funds and received orders from Malaysian turban leader Akel Zainal, was told to recruit a few others for an attack on a Freemason building in central Johor Baru, another source said.

"He has been in close contact with Akel since 2008. Authorities discovered that in December last year, Akel told him to target a Freemason building in the Nong Chik area," the source said.

The suspect was handed over to the Singaporean authorities on Jan 7 after Bukit Aman completed the investigations.

Mohammed Kazali was detained under the country's Internal Security Act.

"Based on intelligence, the suspect was not leading any terror cell in the island republic," said a source.

Five others detained along with Mohammed Kazali during the operations by Bukit Aman police were two Malaysians and three men from Bangladesh, the Philippines and a south Asian country.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun had said the two local men had been deported from a foreign country for their involvement with ISIS, and were arrested in Sepang.

It is learnt that the duo were working at a farm in Australia before being deported.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Joint statement of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the President of the Russian Federation and the President of the Republic of Turkey
President of the Islamic Republic of Iran H.E. Hassan Rouhani, President of the Russian Federation H.E. Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Turkey H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdogan gathered in Sochi on 14 February 2019 for a Tripartite Summit.

The Presidents:

1. Discussed the current situation on the ground in Syria, took stock of the developments following their last meeting in Tehran on 7 September 2018 and underscored their determination to strengthen the trilateral coordination in light of their agreements.

2. Emphasized their strong and continued commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic as well as to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.

3. Highlighted that these principles should be universally respected and that no actions, no matter by whom they were undertaken, should undermine them.

4. Rejected all attempts to create new realities on the ground under the pretext of combating terrorism and expressed their determination to stand against separatist agendas aimed at undermining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria as well as the national security of neighbouring countries.

5. Took note in this regard that the US decision on the withdrawal of its forces from Syria, if implemented, would be a step that would help strengthen stability and security in the country in compliance with the above-mentioned principles.

6. Examined in details the situation in the Idlib de-escalation area, denounced and expressed serious concern with the attempts of the terrorist organization "Hayat Tahrir al-Sham" to increase its control over the area, and agreed to effectively counter these attempts as well as to take concrete steps to reduce violations in the Idlib de-escalation area through full implementation of the agreements on Idlib, including the Memorandum on Stabilization of the Situation in the Idlib De-escalation Area of 17 September 2018. They also reaffirmed the determination to continue cooperation in order to ultimately eliminate DAESH/ISIL, Al-Nusra Front and all other individuals, groups, undertakings and entities associated with Al-Qaeda or DAESH/ISIL, and other terrorist groups, as designated by the UN Security Council.

7. Discussed the situation in the north-east of Syria and agreed to coordinate their activities to ensure security, safety and stability in this area including through existing agreements, while respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.

8. Reaffirmed their conviction that there could be no military solution to the Syrian conflict and that it could only be resolved through the Syrian-led and Syrian-owned, UN-facilitated political process in line with the UN Security Council Resolution 2254.

9. Reaffirmed their determination to facilitate the launch of the Constitutional Committee as soon as possible, including by agreeing on its composition and elaborating recommendations for its rules of procedure based on the work undertaken by the three guarantors. They emphasized in this regard the importance of continuing interaction and coordination with the Syrian parties and the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Syria Geir O. Pedersen.

Syria Force Evacuates Women, Children from IS Holdout
[AnNahar] US-backed fighters trucked out civilians from the last speck of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group's dying "caliphate" in Syria on Friday, eager to press on with the dragging battle to crush the jihadists.

More than four years after IS overran large parts of Syria and neighbouring Iraq, and declared a "caliphate", they have lost all of it but a tiny patch in the village of Baghouz near the Iraqi border.

Almost 30 trucks carrying men, women and kiddies left the enclave on Friday, AFP correspondents at a position of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces outside the village reported.

Most were women and kiddies, their clothes caked in dust, but the passengers also included men with their faces wrapped in chequered scarves.

Women clung to the railings of the trucks, while the hair of younger girls flew in the wind, as they left enclave in the second such large-scale evacuation in three days.

Earlier on Friday, SDF front man Mustefa Bali said he hoped civilian evacuations could be completed by Saturday.

Fellow SDF front man Adnan Afrin said once the evacuations had ended, his forces would expel the last jihadists from the less than half a square kilometre (a fifth of a square mile) they still hold.

"When the civilians leave, we will see how many civilians and IS fighters remain inside and what they want to do," he said.

"They will be faced with a choice: war or surrender."

The SDF evacuated 3,000 people from the IS pocket on Wednesday -- mostly women and kiddies -- but trucks left near empty on Thursday.

- 'MANY FRENCH WOMEN' -
Bali said that screening had determined that most of those evacuated on Wednesday were foreigners.

"The majority are Iraqi and from countries of the former Soviet Union, but there are also Europeans among them," he said.

David Eubank, the leader of the Free Burma Rangers volunteer aid group, said the women and kiddies trucked out were "very hungry and dirty".

They included "many French women", as well as others from Australia, Austria, Germany and Russia, and one woman from Britannia, he told AFP.

Beyond Baghouz, IS retains a presence in the vast, virtually unpopulated Syrian Desert and sleeper cells elsewhere, and continues to claim deadly attacks inside SDF-held territory.

On Thursday, they detonated a boom-mobile that killed 20 people -- mostly oil workers -- near Omar oil field, the main base for the SDF operation in Baghouz.

The battle for the village is now the only live front in Syria's complex civil, which has killed 360,000 people and displaced millions since 2011.

- US 'PEACEKEEPERS' -
Any SDF victory in Baghouz would accelerate an expected withdrawal of US troops from Syria announced in December by US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
Kurdish forces, who have spearheaded the US-backed fight against IS in Syria, have expressed fear that a full pullout would leave them exposed to a long threatened attack by neighbouring The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
But the White House said Thursday the US military will keep around 200 troops in Syria after the withdrawal.

"A small peacekeeping group of about 200 will remain in Syria for a period of time," White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said.

[ALMASDARNEWS] Bouthaina Shaaban, a political and media adviser to Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Supressor of the Damascenes...
, has suggested that Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
has been seeking to bring the Moslem Brüderbund* into the government in Syria.

"What Erdogan is still trying to do and wanted to do before the beginning of this war against Syria is the recognition of the Moslem Brüderbund and making it a part of Syrian authorities ... Today, Erdogan, acting through the so-called opposition, the majority of which is, of course, loyal to him, is seeking to determine the name which would ensure that the Moslem Brüderbund has a voice in the Syrian government", Shaaban said in an interview with the broadcaster Al Mayadeen.

Shaaban continued by noting that religious parties are not allowed in the Syria as it is a secular pluralist state.

The adviser noted that the Ottoman Turkish president had been trying to implement the same scheme, including bringing members of the Moslem Brüderbund members into the government, in some other states, too.

The statement comes after Assad said in an address on 17 February that Erdogan was a "little slave of the United States" and hinted at the Ottoman Turkish president’s affiliation with the Islamist organization.

The Moslem Brüderbund is considered a terror group by Syria and a number of other regional states. However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
some regional players believe that Ankara supports the group. Erdogan has said that the Moslem Brüderbund is an ideological organization and should not be treated as a terror group.

US military to leave 400 troops inside Syria, will maintain control of Al-Tanf
[ALMASDARNEWS] The U.S. military will leave approximately 400 troops inside Syria, a senior administration official told Rooters on Friday.

Previously, U.S. President Donald Trump

had been defeated in Syria.

He was later persuaded by advisers on Thursday to leave approximately 200 troops inside Syria to maintain a peacekeeping force.

With their European European allies agreeing to leave between 800-1,500 troops in Syria, the U.S. is planning to set up a safe zone in the SDF-held areas.

Of the 400 troops in Syria, the U.S. will leave approximately 200 at the military base in the al-Tanf region.

"We don’t want to see a resurgence of ISIS," the official said.

This will likely cause an uproar from Damascus and Moscow, as both governments have repeatedly called on the U.S. to withdraw completely from the al-Tanf Zone in southeast Homs.

2,500 Foreign Children in Northeast Syria Camps
[AnNahar] More than 2,500 foreign children from 30 countries who have fled the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group's last redoubts are living in desperate conditions in camps in northeastern Syria, Save the Children said Thursday.

The charity urged their countries of origin to "take action to ensure the safety of their citizens" as US-backed forces battle IS in the final sliver of territory it holds near the Iraqi border.

"They need specialised help to recover from their experiences and return to normality, together with their families," the charity said.

"This is impossible in overwhelmed displacement camps in a volatile warzone. The international community must act now before it is too late."

It said the children, including 38 unaccompanied minors, were from families "with perceived or actual associations" with the Islamic State (IS) group.

They were separated from others in the camps, affecting their access to aid and services.

"Harsh winter conditions have left the camps in a desperate state, with children facing life-threatening risks," it said.

The children are "victims of the conflict and must be treated as such", said Sonia Khush, Save the Children's Syria response director.

"All states whose nationals are trapped in Syria must take responsibility for their citizens."

The charity said the children had already been deprived of adequate medical care and food for months or even years while in IS-held areas, even before having reached the displacement camps.

"While some states have begun to do so, many countries ‐- including several European countries ‐- have yet to take steps to ensure the safety of the children and their families," said Khush.

"Given the life-threatening dangers these children and their families face in Syria, this is unconscionable."

Save the Children urged countries to repatriate the children and their families "for the purposes of rehabilitation and/or reintegration, in full compliance with international law, including the right to a fair trial where appropriate".

After years of battling IS and with all but a sliver of land left under IS control, US-backed forces have detained hundreds of foreigners suspected of being IS fighters, as well as related women and kiddies.

Syria's Kurds, whose fighters have been at the forefront of the battle, have long urged their home countries to take them back, but many nations have been reluctant.

has urged European governments to take back their citizens who fought for IS in Syria, but his administration said Wednesday it would refuse entry to a US-born IS member who wants to return from Syria.

The country's conflict has killed more than 360,000 people and displaced millions since it started in 2011 with the repression of anti-government protests.
