'Britain's Got Talent' Show Won by... Hungarians
[An Nahar] A troupe of Hungarian shadow dancers won the television show "Britannia's Got Talent" on Saturday -- outshining a slew of homegrown performers and leaving viewers wondering if the program's name could do with a change.
And a smile too broad, He announced to the hostess
That she was a fraud! Mrs. Pearce No!
Henry Ja wohl! Her English is too good, he said,
Which clearly indicates that she is foreign.
Whereas others are instructed in their native language
English people aren't.

The eight-member dance group, named Attraction, beat ten British acts to win the public vote on the primetime ITV show and walked away from the final with a £250,000 ($380,000, 290,000 euro) prize. They had wowed viewers with a series of dance routines performed behind a screen, twisting their bodies to form silhouettes in the shape of everything from Queen Elizabeth II to an elephant.
And although she may have studied with an expert
Dialectician and grammarian, I can tell that she was born
Hungarian!

The Budapest-based group were hot favorites to win -- an irony that was not lost on the British press, with The Sun's front-page headline on Saturday reading: "Er, Hungary's got talent".
Not only Hungarian, but of royal blood,
she is a princess!

Simon Cowell, the music mogul who is one of four judges on the panel, said of the result: "It just shows that this country welcomes people from all over the world and they obviously loved this act."
Servants Congratulations,
Professor Higgins, For your glorious victory!

Attraction's leader Zoltan Scuzs described the win as "amazing", adding: "Thank you to all the British public."
Congratulations, Professor Higgins!
The troupe paid tribute to Britannia in their final performance, using the red, white and blue flag as their backdrop and contorting themselves into the shape of the British isles, Winston Churchill and the queen.

Africa Subsaharan
Central African Forces Kill Five Rebels
[An Nahar] Fighters loyal to the Central African Republic's new government killed five rebels near the Cameroon border, a military source said Monday, adding that their leader escaped the weekend attack on horseback.

The forces of the ruling Seleka movement launched an attack on the Democratic Front for the Central African People (FDPC), former allies, in the western region of Baboua on Saturday, the source said.

"They attacked these (FDPC) positions, leaving four dead and two injured, of whom one was seriously (injured) and who later died of his wounds," the source said, requesting anonymity.

The Seleka coalition of former rebels overthrew the unstable regime of Francois Bozize on March 24 and its leader Michel Djotodia proclaimed himself head of state in the coup-prone former French colony.

Since then, Djotodia's government has struggled to secure the mineral-rich but poor landlocked nation.

The FDPC, led by Abdoulaye Miskine, threatened in April to take up arms against the new authorities.

Miskine was injured when government forces attacked FDPC positions later that month.

The Grand Turk
Erdogan to Meet Turkey Protest Leaders
[An Nahar] Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday will meet with protest leaders whose mass anti-government demonstrations, now in their 11th day, have rocked the country, his deputy said.

"Our prime minister has given an appointment to some of the groups leading these protests.... They will be briefed on the facts and our prime minister will listen to their thoughts," deputy premier Bulent Arinc said Monday, as fresh protests raged in Istanbul, Ankara and other cities.

The protest movement sprang up after police on May 31 brutally cracked down on campaigners protesting against plans to redevelop Istanbul's Gezi Park, sparking a mass outpouring of anger against the Islamic-rooted government, seen as increasingly authoritarian.

Nearly 5,000 people have been injured in the civil unrest and three people have died, but Erdogan has responded with defiance, dismissing the demonstrators as "extremists" and "vandals".

"Illegal demonstrations will not be allowed anymore in Turkey," Arinc warned after a more than six-hour meeting between Erdogan and cabinet members.

"Everybody faces the consequences of their actions in a state of law," he added.

But Arinc said he did not know which leaders exactly Erdogan would be meeting Wednesday, or whether the talks would include the Taksim Solidarity groups behind the original Gezi Park environmental campaign.

India-Pakistan
CJ takes suo motu notice of 'blasphemous content' on internet
[BETA.DAWN] The top judge of Pakistain on Monday took suo motu
...a legal term, from the Latin. Roughly translated it means I saw what you did, you bastard...
notice on "ever increasing blasphemous material circulating on the internet," indicated by a Brit of Pak origin, said a blurb issued by the Supreme Court.

Barrister Amjad Malik, the applicant, prayed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry would issue necessary directions to Pakistain Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the government and other concerned institutions of the country to block such "objectionable pages promoting blasphemy in the name of freedom of expression."

The applicant also urged the Supreme Court to direct for meaningful steps for the international community to protect the name of Prophet Mohammad (PTUI!).

Barrister Malik drew attention of the apex court towards the blasphemous material for "having far reaching implications on the minds, the lives and liberties of mainstream Mohammedan population."

It may be mentioned that YouTube -- a video-sharing website -- has also been blocked in Pakistain by the PTA over 'Innocence of Mohammedans,' a blasphemous movie that angered Mohammedans around the world.

Fearing a violent reaction and the subsequent denial of YouTube to remove the anti-Islam film, the website was blocked on September 18, 2012 on the orders of then prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.

The site was back on earlier this year but was blocked once again after a few hours.

No load-shedding for President, PM, judges and generals
[BETA.DAWN] In a startling disclosure before a Senate committee, the chief executive of Islamabad Electricity Supply Company on Monday said there was no load-shedding at the Presidency, Prime Minister House, Supreme Court, GHQ, headquarters of ISI, National Accountability Bureau and National Database and Registration Authority and the Judges Colony. The disclosure comes at a time when the country is facing worst load-shedding ranging from 12-20 hours a day.

Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) chief Yousuf Awan who was summoned by the Senate Standing Committee on Power to describe the reasons for load-shedding spilled the beans when the committee's chairman, Senator Zahid Khan, asked him to name government offices which were exempt from load-shedding.

As temperatures across the country continue to rise over 40 degrees, the disclosure by the IESCO chief had drawn severe criticism from the Senate committee.

"I am utterly disgusted that a common man is facing up to 21 hours of load-shedding while the president, prime minister, generals and judges were facing no load-shedding even though they can afford to keep generators," Khan said in his remarks.

Khan added that exemption should only be afforded to hospitals and centres managing healthcare.

He threatened to resign in case the practice was not interrupted and government offices and residences were not treated as the rest of the country.

The committee chairman directed the officials to bring an end to the discrimination within 24 hours and report back to the committee on their progress.

Indian Opposition Leader Resigns
[An Nahar] Veteran Indian opposition leader Lal Krishna Advani resigned on Monday, a day after his party chose hardliner Narendra Modi to lead next year's election campaign, a source in his office told Agence La Belle France Presse.

Advani, the 85-year-old stalwart of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a former deputy prime minister, resigned from all his positions within the party, the source said.

"He has submitted his resignation letter to the party chief," the source said on condition of anonymity.

Pope, Archbishop of Canterbury to Meet for First Time
[An Nahar] Pope Francis and Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby will meet on Friday for the first time since the two men became the heads of their respective churches in March, the Vatican said.

Welby, the leader of the world's 80 million Anglicans, will also visit the tombs of St Peter and John Paul II at St Peter's Basilica, the Vatican said in a statement Monday, adding that he will be accompanied by his wife Caroline.

He will also meet Swiss cardinal Kurt Koch, head of the Vatican's Council for Christian Unity.

Francis's predecessor Benedict XVI enjoyed generally good relations with his Anglican counterpart Rowan Williams
... sometimes known as the Archdruid of Canterbury, an indifferent theologian and a poor communicator, so obtuse as to occasionally be mistaken for brilliant but chock full of bland New Agey Feel-Goodisms ...
, though relations were strained by a Vatican move to make it easier for disaffected Anglicans to switch to the generally more conservative Catholic Church.

REPORT: University of Chicago removed pews from 88-year old chapel to accommodate Islamic prayer
University of Chicago (UC) administrators permanently removed pews from an 88-year old chapel on campus in order to accommodate Islamic prayers, according to a local news report.

Chicago NPR affiliate, WBEZ news, reported on May 23, the pews, which are now part of display at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) Chicago, were "removed in order to provide Muslim students a place to pray."
At least they went to a good home....
Literature describing the artwork
see "benches" below
that was created by UC Director of Arts and Public Life Theaster Gates, also describes the removal of the pews as symbol of religious tolerance.
"Tolerance," the in-vogue euphemism for "You lose, Infidel."
"The pews
oh, ya'mean 'dat bench over 'dere? (it's coming....)
were recently removed from the chapel in order to offer Muslim students a place to pray, a symbolic gesture of religious tolerance," according to an official description of the exhibit which includes a "set of repurposed
my heart is a-flutter
pews from the University of Chicago's campus church."

A spokesperson for UC also appeared to confirm the reason for the pews' removal in a statement emailed to Campus Reform on Friday.

"The benches
benches?! It's all in the words used
were removed... to make Bond Chapel a more appropriate comfortable space for its many uses: ceremonial, spiritual, and artistic,"
Artistic, got it....
said Susie Allen.

Allen, however, said the primary purpose for the change, which was part of a broader renovation, was to "accommodate the installation of a Boroque-style organ."
Oh, the old trading bench space for organ space....and some Muslums....conundrum!
The UC Muslim Student Association (MSA) also announced in its 2012-2013 edition of The Complete Muslims Guide to UChicago
Holy Crap, they have a Fordors of Mosques!
that Friday prayers would be held in the chapel once renovation was complete.

"Bond Chapel is where Friday prayers will be held once construction
or destruction or the installation of a Boroque-style organ or whatever
is over," it says.

"Insha'Allah
that's Allan Willing to you, infidel
Jumuah prayer will be held in Bond Chapel every Friday this quarter," reads another announcement on the MSA Chicago website.
As my Grandmother would say, cryptically, you really can't substitute one pew for another....

#8  One pertinent question: How many Christians were using this chapel on a regular basis? I dunno but I think one good way to counter Islam and to help slow our society's decline would be to get your butts into those pews on a regular basis.

Airport's garage now Muslim house of worship
[BLOG.SFGATE] Here's a sign of the changing times -- Moslem cabbies now have their very own place at the Socialist paradise of San Francisco
...where God struck dead Anton LaVey, home of the Sydney Ducks, ruled by Vigilance Committee from 1859 through 1867, reliably and volubly Democrat since 1964...
International Airport to wash their hands and feet before they pray.

Under Islamic law, Moslems are required to pray five times a day -- a ritual that also calls for a ceremonial cleansing.

For many cab drivers, that's meant either lugging bottled water around or using one of the bathrooms inside the terminal to wash -- a practice not always welcomed by airport passengers.

So Royal Cab driver Hasan Khan, 52, a Pak immigrant, collected some 300 signatures from fellow cabbies, urging the airport to give them their own cleansing station.

Airport brass obliged -- and the wash equipment was installed on the ground floor of the main garage, right next to where the drivers congregate for their breaks.
