Pilot 'invites' adult star into cockpit, lets her toy with controls
[HINDUSTANTIMES] An unnamed Kuwait Airways captain flying from London to New York invited an ex-porn actress into the cockpit, served her cigarettes and champagne, and allowed her to play with the controls, reports said.
"Wanna play wid my controls, bebby?"
Chloe Mafia alias Chloe Khan an ex-porn star, who is now running a webcam stripping business told the Daily Star that she and her friends were invited into the cockpit by a flight attendant after the seat belt signs were turned off.
"The pilot sez come and get him!"
According to the 24-year-old, once inside the flight deck, the captain ordered champagne for them and they smoked two packets of cigarettes throughout the journey.
"It's gettin' pretty smokey in here, Couldja open a window?"
"He was showing us what each of the buttons did and said we could sit on his knee and wear his pilot's cap and fly the plane. I pushed something. I don't know what it did but he said it was fine as the plane flew itself," Chloe was quoted by the Daily Star as saying.
"We often fly the Atlantic with the nose wheel down."
Allowing passengers inside the flight deck has been strictly prohibited after the September 11 attacks and smoking is banned in airlines since 2007. Moreover, Kuwait Airways is a dry airline, alcohol is not served to passengers.

A salvo of nine more Planned Parenthood undercover videos arriving soon.
[Daily Caller] WASHINGTON -- David Daleiden, founder of the Center For Medical Progress (CMP), told conservative talk radio host Sean Hannity Tuesday there are nine more sting-operation videos that reveal Planned Parenthood's operations.

"We have close to 300 hours total of undercover video that was gathered during a 30 month long in depth investigative journalism study of how Planned Parenthood sells the body parts of the babies they abort," Daleiden said, noting that each highlight video released will have the full footage posted on their website without any edits.

CMP has already released three videos showing Planned Parenthood officials, personnel, and doctors discussing the harvesting of aborted baby parts. Congress proposed legislation Wednesday to defund Planned Parenthood's abortion activity and moving the money to community health centers and hospitals instead.

Planned Parenthood has hired a Washington D.C. based crisis management firm to deal with the fallout.
Fellow poster Blossom Unains5562 posted an article that says an LA Court has issued a temporary restraining order against the showing of these videos. This is about to get very ugly.

#3  Lawfare. This should be interesting.

It isn't, it's a prior restraint on speech and pretty much unquestionably unconstitutional. Dumb ruling. Then again this is the same court in which we used to deal with a judge who was (in)famous for being asleep more often than awake while on the bench.

The truth will become known.

But will anything change and if so will the change be sustained? That pretty clearly wouldn't be the way to bet.

#5  Read this morning that some judge has issued a temporary restraining order against further release of these vids. I do not understand the grounds for issuing such a restraining order. Here. The restraining order was issued in LA, California. It wouldn't seem that it would apply to other jurisdictions outside the state.
Posted by: JohnQC || 07/30/2015 10:40 Comments || Top||

#6  The basis is almost certainly CA state law that makes illegal recording of any conversation during which one of the recorded parties reasonably believed the conversation to be private.

CMP appears to be headquartered in Irvine, CA so, even though Irvine is not in LA County, it's clear that the court had jurisdiction (and even if CMP were headquartered anywhere else on Earth CA's long-arm statute would dragoon them into a forum of the plaintiff's choosing).

CMP can be morally correct and criminally liable, those aren't mutually exclusive.

Ukrainian commanders reject joint patrols of Shirokino

Rantburg.com

A suggestion by a Ukrainian general for joint patrols of Shirokino was rejected by Ukrainian ministry of defense officials, according to Russian language news accounts.

Deputy commander of the Ukrainian Anti Terrorist Operation (ATO) in southeastern Ukraine, General Major Aleksandr Rozmaznin suggested on Tuesday in a television interview the possibility of joint patrols of Shirokino after a similar suggestion was made by negotiators in Minsk last month.

But according to a news report which appeared in tsensor.net, Ukrainian ATO commanders say the demilitarization of Shirokino only applied to heavy weapons, not to troops, a suggestion which could have implications for further combat in southern Donetsk.

The original proposal to demilitarize Shirokino was made in June during discussions between Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande, when agreement was reached for an August 3rd deadline to demilitarize Shirokino. Shirokino has been a focus of combat between the Ukrainians and rebel forces since last February. Rebel forces controlled 90 percent of the former resort town on the Sea of Azov until Ukrainian forces, mainly elements of the volunteer "Azov" battalion took over western sectors. Shirokino rests in a hollow with hills to the north, east and west overlooking the town, useful for artillery observers for both sides. Since February Shirokino had been under near constant artillery fire, including tank gun fire from both sides.

Ukrainian commanders expressed worries that Shirokino would be used as a springboard to take the much larger city of Mariupol to the west. Mariupol is now heavily fortified by Ukrainian forces.

Rebel commanders unilaterally withdrew their forces from Shirokino July 2nd, moving those forces into other locations to the east including Sahanka, which recently has been fired on by Ukrainian artillery. Since then both sides have stayed away from the location, though both sides have accused the other of having forces in the town.

On Monday an Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) observer was wounded, reported at the time as a rifle/grenade attack. Now rebel media is claiming that the OSCE observer was struck by Ukrainian artillery, a charge that the Ukrainians have yet to address.

According to data supplied by the Donetsk ministry of defense, Lt. Colonel Eduard Basurin said Wednesday that Ukrainian mortar fire struck the observer in an attempt to mask the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces in the town. Although neither side has agreed to anything regarding Shirokino, rebels expected the town to remain clear of all Ukrainian forces, even police presence, which was reported only hours after rebel forces had withdrawn.

Now, according to Lt. Colonel Dmitry Gutsulyak, a staff officer with the Ukrainian main command for combat operations in Donetsk and Lugansk, the naval infantry unit which arrived in Mariupol July 27th will be deployed in Shirokino.

Lt. Colonel Gutsulyak said, according to a news account in korrespondent.net, that the naval infantry unit would be defending Shirokino along with a "permanent OSCE observation post" and "joint center for control and coordination of the cease-fire."

The naval infantry unit near Shirokino could be a problem for rebel commanders. Last February, only two weeks before the second iteration of the Minsk ceasefire took place, rebels began a defensive operation which eventually led to the capture of Debaltsevo. Though that operation extended beyond the February 15th activation date of the ceasefire, now called Minsk II, rebel forces continued fighting until Debaltsevo fell into rebel hands, with resulting heavy losses for both sides.

Fighting in Donetsk

Artillery fire and direct fire incidents halved Tuesday with artillery fire reported in western suburbs of Donetsk, Spartak and at the airport.

According to data supplied by the Donetsk ministry of defense, western sectors of Gorlovka were struck by artillery fire originating in Dzherzinsk Wednesday. The mayor of Gorlovka, Anatoly Kopylov, was quoted in the official news release suggesting structures were set afire by the latest attack, and that there may be more civilian casualties.

Russian veto of MH17 tribunal impedes justice
[RFE/RL] Russia's veto of a Security Council resolution to create a criminal court for Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 has halted the best chance the international community has of forcing states to cooperate in finding out who was responsible. This is because all UN member states are bound to recognize the authority of tribunals created by the Security Council. But any other international court can safely be ignored should a state choose to do so.

This leaves the countries that sponsored the UN resolution voted on on July 29 in a tough position.

China-Japan-Koreas
Uighur tensions hang over Erdogan visit to China
[SMH] Turkey's president arrived in Beijing on Tuesday eager to highlight trade and investment between the two countries, including the purchase of a Chinese surface-to-air missile system. But his visit risked being overshadowed by growing tensions over the diplomatic assistance Turkey is extending to the Uighur population of China.

A recent Reuters report exposed the apparent practice of Turkish diplomatic officials in south-east Asia, particularly in Malaysia, to furnish Uighurs with travel documents allowing them to avoid deportation.

Beijing has also been angered by demonstrations in Istanbul and Ankara where Turkish and Uighur protesters burned the Chinese flag outside the country's embassy and consulates. The demonstrations were in response to reports that Uighurs were banned from observing Ramadan.

Turkey's foreign ministry issued a statement saying reports of Uighurs "banned from fasting and fulfilling other acts of worship have been received with sadness by the Turkish public opinion."

Europe
France deploys riot police to bolster Calais security
[WASHINGTONPOST] La Belle France has deployed more than 100 riot coppers to Calais to bolster security as hundreds of migrants have been trying night after night to rush the railway tunnel leading to England -- at times with fatal consequences.

One migrant was crushed to death Wednesday during an attempt to breach security. Such attempts, numbering in the tens of thousands, have fueled a growing sense of crisis on the English Channel this year. The 30-mile Channel Tunnel, often referred to as the Chunnel, is used by passenger trains and freight services to connect La Belle France and Britannia.

Another migrant was at death's door after being electrocuted during an attempt to jump on a Eurostar train in Gay Paree headed to London.

These migrants pressing northward are fleeing war, dictatorship and poverty in Africa and the Middle East. They tend to spend as little time as possible in their southern European landing spots such as Italia, where two ships unloaded Wednesday, one carrying 435 passengers and 14 bodies and another with 692 migrants.

PRA Chairman Dr Raheel Ahmed Siddiqui said that DJ Butt had received over Rs50 million from the PTI while he had filed a suit for the recovery of remaining amount of Rs60 million.

He said the PRA had issued a notice to DJ Butt to pay a tax on the total amount of about Rs110 million at the rate of 16 per cent, which came to about Rs17 million.

Dr Siddiqui clarified that the PRA had nothing to do with a sum of Rs2.5 million Mr Butt had received after having a compromise with the PTI.

He said the hearing of DJ Butt's case before the PRA was fixed for Aug 3 when a final decision would be announced.

SC criticises grant of licences for houbara bustard hunting
[DAWN] Objecting to grant of licences by the Foreign Office for hunting houbara bustards by foreign dignitaries, the Supreme Court said on Wednesday the federal government apparently did not have the authority to issue such permissions.

“Upon hearing the law officers concerned and going through the constitutional provisions and the relevant laws, it appears that the federal government prima facie has no authority to issue permission for hunting houbara bustard by the foreign dignitaries in the four provinces,” observed Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja while dictating an order.

A two-judge bench headed by Justice Khawaja had taken up a petition moved by Advocate Raja Mohammad Farooq on behalf of Aamir Zahoor-ul-Haq.

Hollywood Reacts to Lion Death, PP infant parts harvesting.... not so much.
[Breitbart] Hollywood celebrities have taken to social media to denounce the death of Cecil the Lion, who was shot and killed earlier this month by an American hunter.
We'll use any media distraction, it's what we do !
The Wrap reports Cecil, who was well-known in Zimbabwe, was found skinned and decapitated outside a national park on the outskirts of Hwange after Walter Palmer, a Minnesota dentist, reportedly paid $50,000 to shoot him with a bow and arrow.
Warthogs can be had for about $55 USD, excluding transport, meals and lodging. One of the 'big five' comes a bit more.
A favorite resident at the Hwange National Park, Cecil wasn't just known for his good looks. He was also a participant in a study backed by Oxford University that required him to wear a GPS collar.
That's right! He was a sort of a..... 'cash cow.'
"I had no idea that the lion I took was a known, local favorite, was collared and part of a study until the end of the hunt," said Palmer in a statement released Tuesday. "I relied on the expertise of my local professional guides to ensure a legal hunt."

CNN reports two Zimbabwean men will appear in court Wednesday over the killing of Cecil, and authorities say they plan to seek an investigation against Palmer.
No discussion of Palmer's license and permits is expected.
According to Zimbabwean officials, Cecil was lured out of the park by Palmer, who then shot him with a bow. Palmer is now being condemned by animal lovers around the world, as well as many of those in Hollywood.
Licensed hunting reserves near game parks, who knew? I wonder which corrupt Zim politicians pocketed the fees and licensing money ?
