Amish separatists suspected in massive Houston gun store robbery
[ABC] HOUSTON (WPVI) -- A smash-and-grab crew of thieves emptied display cases and a wall of rifles Tuesday morning at a guns and ammunition store in Southwest Houston, Texas. Now the ATF says some of the suspects have been identified and arrested.

Houston police say as many as 10 suspects raided the store and got away with at least 50 weapons. The amount of weapons is not counting those they dropped in their haste to get out before police arrived.

Jeff McShan, a spokesman with the Harris County District Attorney's Office and Crime Stoppers, says three of the suspects have been arrested. ATF sources confirm they have good leads and they're following up on them.

A spokesperson with the ATF says some of the stolen weapons have also been recovered, but did not provide an exact number.

‘Potential Criminal Charges’ Could Be On The Way To Hillary, Aides
BLUF: [Daily Caller] Brigadier General Kenneth Bergquist, a former high-ranking intelligence and special operations official who is now a practicing attorney, told The Daily Caller News Foundation that Clinton and some of her aides face the prospect of multiple federal charges, including "knowingly" concealing operation of the private server from State Department security officials, as well as a public corruption charge of "honest services fraud."

Honest services fraud is generally easier to prove because the charge includes unethical conduct by public officials, Bergquist said. Bergquist was appointed as the first president of the Joint Special Operations University by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 2001 after a career in intelligence and counter-terrorism.

Mandela the Opera: Producer absconds with the production payroll
[The Telegraph] Production celebrating the early life of Nelson Mandela draws big crowds - but cast and crew say government money provided for their wages has disappeared, along with the opera's creator who may have fled the country.

A South African producer who put on an opera about Nelson Mandela after his death two years ago has disappeared without paying his cast or crew, according to reports.

Unathi Mtirara, who is distantly related to the former South African president, is said to have received R1m (£45,000) in grant money from the government but has vanished without a trace.

A lawyer acting for a guesthouse where Mr Mtirara put up his stars but is alleged not to have paid the bill said his colleague got hold of his wife who told him: "catch me if you can" before hanging up.

A member of the Mandela opera’s production team told the Pretoria News daily paper that Mr Mtirara’s phone was going straight to answerphone and some believed he may have left the country.

"He disappeared with the money and left us in the lurch," the unnamed crew member said. "All his and his wife's numbers are off; his social media pages no longer exist."

Madiba: the Africa Opera was created by Mr Mtirara, a grandson of Mr Mandela’s cousin, to explore his childhood in the tribal lands of the Eastern Cape as well as his well-documented struggle against apartheid.

Zimbob announces government to take over all Zimbabwe's diamond operations
[Telegraph] Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe said on Thursday his government would take possession of all diamond operations because existing miners had robbed the country of its wealth.

Mugabe's comments came a week after the ministry of mines ordered all mining companies to halt work and leave the Marange fields, saying they had not renewed their licences. At the time it denied it was seizing the mines.

"The state will now own all the diamonds in the country," Mugabe said during a two-hour interview with state broadcaster ZBC TV.

"Companies that have been mining diamonds have robbed us of our wealth, that is why we have now said the state must have a monopoly," Mugabe said.

Donetsk rebels say ceasefire violations have doubled

Russian backed separatists claimed that the Ukrainian military has violated the ceasefire almost 400 times in 24 hours, according to official rebel media.

According to an announcement posted on the website of the Donetsk ministry of defense, the great bulk of the shooting has come from 120mm and 82mm mortar fire, as well as from 30mm autocannon fire from the ubiquitous BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicle.

Most of the shooting has take place in western suburbs of Donetsk city and in areas around Gorlovka.

According to rebel media, Ukrainians fired their weapons on Peski, Krasnogorovka, Marinka, Opytnoye, the airport and the Volvo Center in western Donetsk city.

Official rebel media says that Ukrainian shelling struck a water treatment plant, knocking it off line for an undisclosed amount of time.

Other areas under fire north of Donetsk city include Gorlovka and Zaitsevo.

Kominternovo in the south near Mariupol came under Ukrainian fire as well, said the announcement.

According to Russian language Ukrainian media from the website censor.net.ua, rebels have fired rocket artillery onto Ukrainian positions, totaling 24 rockets, which struck between Marinka and Krasnogorovka. Residential houses also have reportedly been struck by rebel rocket artillery fire.

A regnum.ru report quoted Ukrainian military officials as saying that rebel artillery struck Ukrainian positions 62 times over 24 hours in several locations in both Donetsk and Lugansk. Rebel troops fired on Ukrainian troops 34 times using small arms fire in western Donetsk city sectors, northern areas around Gorlovka, southern areas near Mariupol and in Lugansk.

4 hour bombardment in Zaitsevo

Donetsk ministry of defense spokesman Lt. Colonel Eduard Basurin said Thursday that Ukrainian small arms fire was directed at rebel positions in Zaistevo after Ukrainian artillery fire struck rebel positions for nearly four hours the previous day.

Basurin claims that rebel troops are under "silence mode" orders not to return fire unless lives are in direct danger.

So far, no reports from the rebel side have emerged as to casualties, and Ukrainian media have yet to address the fighting there. Zaitsevo is in the same general area as Gorlovka, which itself has been under nearly continual Ukrainian artillery fire since the summer of 2014.

Fourth-grade girl raped, impregnated by teacher in Larkana
[DAWN] LARKANA: Hatri Ghulam Shah Police on Tuesday booked a primary school teacher on charges of sexually assaulting and raping a fourth-grade girl student in Nau Abad village.
Fourth grade is nine or ten years old?
In America, yes. It could be older or younger over there -- the Brits start a year younger than we do, and in many things the Indian subcontinent followed the pattern they set.
The girl's maternal uncle, Ghulam Hussain Kalhoro, registered a First-Information Report (FIR) against the accused under Section 376 of the Pakistain Penal Code. The school teacher has been placed in durance vile
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
and the FIR filed under No.9/2016.

The police at the Hatri Ghulam Shah cop shoppe have referred the case to Chandka Medical College Hospital, where the girl underwent a medical examination. On Tuesday, the assistant police surgeon at the hospital, Dr Munir Sheikh, confirmed that the girl's medical check-up had taken place, and that results showed she had been raped.

Dr Meena Kumari, the medical-legal officer who conducted the test, said the girl is four months pregnant.

The girl's parents sensed that something was wrong when she complained of nausea and vomiting, sources said. On Tuesday, the girl and her father Mumtaz held a protest at SP chowk, where the Sindh minister was presiding over a meeting.

DSP Yar Muhammed Rind met with them and assured the girl that she would get justice.

The judicial magistrate, Zafarullah Jakhrani, remanded the suspect in police custody for seven days on Wednesday. He was picked up on Tuesday by the Hatri Ghulam Shah police and during interrogation, confessed to have committed the crime, police sources said.

Chief Justice Roberts votes with the regime... again.
[The Hill] Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts rejected a plea Thursday to block a contentious air pollution rule for power plants in a big victory for the Obama administration.

Roberts’s order came despite his court’s 5-4 decision last year ruling that the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) regulation, known as the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards, is illegal.

Michigan led a group of 20 states last month -- empowered by the Supreme Court’s recent unprecedented decision to halt the EPA’s carbon dioxide rule for power plants -- in asking the court to live up to its ruling last year and block the regulation’s enforcement.

"Unless this court stays or enjoins further operation of the Mercury and Air Toxics rule, this court’s recent decision in Michigan v. EPA will be thwarted," the states wrote in a Feb. 23 filing with the court.

"A stay or injunction is appropriate because this court has already held that the finding on which the rule rests in unlawful and beyond EPA’s statutory authority."

The EPA responded that no judicial stay is necessary since it’s working to fix the problem the court identified by next month, and the states would not suffer irreparable harm in that time.

"The requested stay would harm the public interest by undermining reliance interests and the public health and environmental benefits associated with the rule," the government said. "The application lacks merit and should be denied."

Roberts acted swiftly, waiting less than a day after the EPA’s response brief to side with the Obama administration. He acted unilaterally, electing to reject the request himself rather than take it to the full court, which may have led to a 4-4 split following Justice Antonin Scalia’s death.

The mercury pollution standards, made final in 2012, are a separate regulation from the more controversial and costly carbon dioxide limits for power plants that are also being litigated in court.

The Supreme Court put an unprecedented halt to the carbon rule, known as the Clean Power Plan, last month by a 5-4 vote, when Roberts chose to let the full court vote on the matter. Thursday’s action by Roberts is completely separate from that case.

EPA spokeswoman Melissa Harrison said on Thursday the agency is "very pleased" with Roberts’s order.

#3  Does Roberts "ever" vote with the people? SCOTUS justices basically have positions for life unless they get impeached. The only justice who ever got impeached was Samuel Chase but he was acquitted by the Senate.
Posted by: JohnQC || 03/04/2016 8:21 Comments || Top||

#4  Yep, we need a real* Republican in the White House to make sure that SCOTUS remains faithful the text of the (now ignored) Constitution by his appointments.

*real as defined by the GOPe. While GWB was a nice guy, he was a 'classical' liberal who would have just as easily fitted in with the 1950s or early 60s Donks.

#5  As I said before, we really need to change the way the SC is done.

Each state appoints a judge for a one year term. Vice President is the winning vote in a tie.

#7  Temporary 'victory' until the current study is completed in April. The 'victory' for the EPA in means 45 days won't matter one way or the other - we ought to let the process play out.

link

The U.S. Supreme Court denied a request Thursday to block the EPA’s mercury-emissions rule while legal challenges proceed, handing a temporary victory to the the Obama administration and environmental groups.

Roberts’ refusal to grant a stay will allow the Obama administration to rein in toxic emissions while the EPA tabulates the rule’s cost. The agency’s review is expected to be finished in April.

Pitt Students 'In Tears' and Feeling 'Unsafe' After Milo Yiannopoulos Event
The University of Pittsburgh's Student Government Board held a public meeting on Tuesday to discuss the traumatizing visit the night before from "dangerous" homosexual and Breitbart Tech Editor Milo Yiannopoulos, during which students described themselves as feeling "hurt" and "unsafe."
I'm really starting to like this guy, and this is all I know about him.
He just might be the legitimate successor to Breitbart...
"During his talk, Yiannopoulos called students who believe in a gender wage gap 'idiots,' declared the Black Lives Matter movement a 'supremacy' group, while feminists are 'man-haters,'" according to the student paper The Pitt News, prompting a handful of twenty-something-year olds to feel upset.

"Just because we have to be neutral with our funding doesn't mean we're personally neutral," announced board member Jack Heidecker at the meeting. "I hurt yesterday, too."
Apparently you haven't been in the real world.
"So many of us shared in our pain. I felt I was in danger, and I felt so many people in that room were in danger," proclaimed Marcus Robinson, student and president of the Pittsburgh Rainbow Alliance. Robinson also suggested that councilors should have been provided in another room to protect students who felt "traumatized" by Yiannopoulos's opinions.
If you feel in danger and collapse like cooked spaghetti, you will not last long once the barbarians come pouring over the borders.
This is more than hurt feelings, this is about real violence. We know that the violence against marginalized groups happens every day in this country," claimed social work and urban studies major Claire Matway. "That so many people walked out of that [event] feeling in literal physical danger is not alright."
Bitch... that ain't real danger. Come stand in front of me and say that shit again. You'll fucking know real danger you worthless piece of shit.
I just want to know why highly educated university students-cum-journalists thought it was acceptable to spell all right as alright, and why their even more highly educated editors, both student and advisory, concurred.
President of the College Republicans and fellow student Tim Nerozzi responded to the complaints by proclaiming, "I'm not here to rain on your parade. We put a trigger warning on our fliers for the event. We never claimed it would be a family friendly or a politically correct lecture."

"I do realize that some people were genuinely hurt, and I'm not going to ignore that, but free speech should not trump safety," he said. "We need to see the school work around that."
Sith release to the university: "WHAAAAAAA"

You are all pathetic and not worthy of the men and women that came before you.

Also, any gay man that can bring an entire university to tears and make them quiver like jello is fucking awesome in my book. Well done sir.
