-Short Attention Span Theater-
As an election Donald Trump could actually win looms, Madonna tells America: 'The world is laughing at us'
The nervousness building ahead of what will be one of the most polarising elections in recent history is palpable. Whereas only a few months ago celebrities were laughing at Donald Trump vying for the Republican nomination, with just two days to go, many are now pulling all the stops out to warn against the man who could actually be elected President of the United States.

In a damning summary of the series of events leading up to the situation America finds itself in now, Madonna says the joke is on the US. Her message is stark: "The whole world is laughing at us right now."
I don't really care about the opinion of a bunch of hopelessly clueless socialists.
After issuing calls for those on the fence to choose a Democrat and elect the first female President, this time the singer spoke directly to Trump supporters to warn them that while he may be entertaining, this is not television. This is real life, with potentially grave consequences.
Well, if you're so concerned, then you'd better get back on your knees. I see you have a runny nose, so you're probably full. Here's a bucket. Get to work.
Unlike many other celebratory endorsements issued by Lena Dunham, Katy Perry and Beyonce, Madonna's was grim. "All politicians lie," she wrote on Instagram. "All. Even our most beloved and esteemed."
Nothing gets past Madonna.
The undercurrent of 'choose the lesser of two evils' that has come to define this election continued with her imploring his supporters to ignore the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails and vote for her, "or we are all f**ked".
Yeah, instead of focusing on the emails maybe they can focus on Benghazi or CGI instead. Or her miserable trail of political choices. Or her trashing Bill's Bimbos and the women he raped.
"We do not want a wall built around the US paid for with our hard-earned money. All politicians lie. All!! Even our most beloved and esteemed. Can we please get off the email scenario and focus on the bigger picture? If Trump were elected we would be at war in no time at all. The whole world is laughing at us right now. I can only imagine what Trump writes in his e-mails.
What do you know about hard-earned money?
"Wake up people - this is not a reality show. I appreciate his charm and entertainment value but he is not qualified to be a head of state! Facts! Vote Clinton or we are all f**ked."
Facts? Like when you ignore the FBI and WikiLeaks?
The embattled Republican nominee has been hit by accusations of sexual assault from a number of women, which he has denied, and lewd comments unearthed from 11 years previously that shocked when many thought they couldn't be shocked by his actions anymore.
Snowflakes from an alternate reality where nobody has any fun. You'd make great Shakers.
But neither his accusers or his comments have derailed his campaign and Mr Trump's controversies have only seemed to bolster the support from his fans. That the US could wake up on 9 November with Donald Trump as the incumbent President is an outcome few had believed could be a reality. Now it is faced with an outcome that could radically shape the political landscape forever.
Couldn't be any worse than what 0bean has done to us in the name of rudderless transformation.

First, The Good News: Chelsea Manning Makes Second Suicide Attempt In Us Prison . . .
Sigh. Well, third time's the charm . . . .
Imprisoned transgender US soldier Chelsea Manning tried to commit suicide last month while serving time in solitary confinement for a first attempt in July, her representatives said Friday.

Manning, a former Army intelligence analyst sentenced to 35 years in prison for handing classified documents to anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks, tried to kill herself on October 4, according to a statement she dictated to supporters by phone 11 days later and released by The New York Times.

American Civil Liberties Union rights group attorney Chase Strangio confirmed the attempt on Twitter.

"After her July suicide attempt, I watched her begin to piece her life and spirit back together only to have that shattered by the disciplinary proceedings brought against her and then the unannounced initiation of her term of punishment last month," Strangio said.

Manning's four-page statement, addressed to the inspector general of the intelligence community, indicates she attempted to commit suicide on the evening she was placed in solitary without prior notice.

She was later placed on suicide watch in a special housing area.
Should have staffed it with narcoleptics.
Much of the statement described strange events that she said took place on the night of October 10, less than a week after the suicide attempt. These included a simulated attack on the prison and a mock rescue attempt, in which she refused to participate.

The events could not immediately be independently verified.
That's understandable. Lots of what he has to do with can't be independently verified.
Manning, 28, who was previously known as Bradley, was convicted in 2013.

Manning ended a five-day hunger strike in September after the Army agreed to provide surgery to treat her gender dysphoria.
Try that refeeding thing. It's supposed to work miracles.
She was arrested in 2010 while serving as an intelligence analyst at a US base near Baghdad after sending 700,000 documents -- military war logs and US diplomatic cables -- to WikiLeaks.

Manning has repeatedly decried her treatment at a men's military prison in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
What? I would think she would have liked being around a bunch of manly men. Take the new 'nads out for a spin.
The soldier has been hailed by supporters as a hero for exposing what they see as US abuses in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but denounced by prosecutors as a traitor who put country and comrades at risk.

#2  Chelsea Manning is not the villain here

A government that acted in the best interests of Saudi Arabia and not of the citizens of the US thanks to large donations is the problem.

Had that foreign influence not been buying policy since the Bush era, then invasion of Iraq would not have happened, since the issue of the Saudis using oil money to spread Islamist theocratic fascism would have been dealt with.

When the cold war ended so too should our alliance with Saudi Arabia

the only ethical stance was not to make alliance in the first place with theocratic human-rights graveyards and that kingdom is run by sharia.

During the cold war it was necessary to ally against the greater evil as communism did pose an existential threat.

But so does theocratic Islamism.

If only the intel agencies looked at that ideology and saw as big a threat as China perhaps we would not have seen the dark days we have or the worse ones we undoubtedly will be forced to suffer in future

and the still the Saudi money pours in unchecked.

#3  Bzzzzt. Wrong. Manning is a traitor and a freak

#4  i can understand why you'd be angry with manning for releasing classified info

I think the trigger incident that led her to release information was telling, and she was motivated by empathy and the belief that she was trying to do the right thing.

She didn't do it for money or prestige. She was not selling her country out in order to hurt it or to be a traitor.

motivations aside though, far greater damage has been and is being done to the US by the influence that foreign money has been allowed to buy at the highest levels in Washington.

how many lives have been damaged and lost, money wasted in this exercise of never ending middle east adventurism, all of which has been and always was going to be futile.

When Islamists flew planes into buildings on 9/11 they did so because of Saudi oil money spreading their ideology around the world

Without the influence that Saudi money had bought perhaps we would never have been in Iraq in the first place.

The Islamist goal was to remove secular governments and replace with sharia.

The Saudis pretended to be our allies against "terrorists" that have "nothing to do with islam" though the most cursory glance at their society would easily show them to be otherwise.

They lied. They are not our allies. They are the source of the problem, and their money clouded our strategic thinking at the highest levels.

I get the logic of going into Iraq. If they could have pulled it off it would have been magic. It's a keystone state between Saudi and Iran, the two problem theocracies. If it had been made a prosperous democratic state, it would have solved the problem of backwards Islamism with the threat of a good example of how Muslims can prosper.

But that could never have worked and the reason is Islam.

Islam turns every democracy into either a secular dictatorship or a theocracy over time, because of the nature of the belief system.

But our policy makers and strategists were not allowed to consider this because the cult of "nothing to do with Islam" was promoted and opposition censored and crushed.

And why did that happen?

Saudi money

The reason we fail and have wasted so much for so long is Saudi influence

It is like those zombie ants you see with the fungus growing out of their heads. The fungus is now controlling the ants. Not good for the ants. Not good for us.

So I understand why you are angry at Chelsea manning

but she is not your real problem.

#7  Saudi Money, shmaudi money, Manning, that is BRADLEY did what it did. It was and remains a crime and one that strikes at all Americans. As for the great over flow of it's emotions, who the Hell cares? Criminals have all kinds of imbecilic back rationalizations as to why they screwed up that all have the same characteristics...they were so pure and the rest of the world so dirty, oh woe. Hang him, yes H-I-M and be done with it.
Posted by: Cesare || 11/06/2016 9:36 Comments || Top||

#8  Let's go back another step: Manning is not a female whose body needs to be adjusted to match. Manning is a fully adult male with a severe case of maltreated body dysmorphic disorder. The longitudinal studies Johns Hopkins scientists and others have done show that giving such people the sex change surgeries they demand does not make them happier for very long, and has no significant impact on their anxiety, depression, or rate of suicide attempts and completions.

#9  TW and anon1 are correct. Hey I'm pissed that the eminently F'ed Up Manning did what he did. Released Top Secret docs. Doesn't matter what you think of the motivations.
That being said, the over-riding concern here is the message not the messenger. The Magic Kingdom bastards are up to their towels in terrorism and should be dealt with accordingly

#10  You are correct, trailing wife,re the treatment implications of Manning's post-modern problem. The NYT narrative suggests the release of classified info was an irrational act caused by sexual identify "stressors" feed by a homophobic military culture. It was in fact a carefully calculated action which required several steps that imply harmful intent. In addition, Manning was not sentenced to solitary confinement for a suicide attempt. He/she was placed in protective custody for observation and treatment in a single cell most likely on a behavioral management unit. This no doubt standard procedure.

#14  Frank G: If we were not distracted by Saudi money we would have confronted Islamism - and that mean we would not have invaded Iraq at a cost of what, more than a trillion of taxpayer dollars?

Iran is just as bad as Saudi, both are theocracies, both we should recognise as enemies. Instead obama flies in money.

Foreign influence at the highest levels.
Posted by: anon1 || 11/06/2016 19:17 Comments || Top||

#15  We should do everything we can to save its life. Take all that Manning has - replace it with one fashionable paper gown, allow him to have a mattress for eight hours a day and put a camera on that cell 24 hours a day. Play stupid games and be rewarded with your stupid prize. Nothing to see here - move along, move along.

Sorry Divers: You're Not Exempt From Teh War On Wimminz
Diver magazine link.

Photo at the top slightly undermines the point

I need to check Woodworking Magazine to see if there's any juicy SJWisms to trigger muh feelz over there as well.

When we speak of media bias, it's important to remember that we're not just talking about the usual suspects like NYT, CNN, etc.

This crap is EVERYWHERE--which is what makes it so insidious.
Well. I shall relate an experience.

One of my best friends and dearest colleagues at work is a woman in my specialty. She's an outstanding clinical investigator in her area and (if one is sufficiently shallow as a western male to rate these things) quite attractive. As a young faculty person she, like the rest of us, would go to our annual national professional meeting. There was, at one part of the conference center (think of a place like Moscone in SF or McCormick in Chicago) the usual vendor fair with all the pharma companies, equipment makers, publishers, etc.

I tell you this because one of the major vendors each year offered medical exercise testing equipment for "cardiopulmonary" exercise testing as part of their booth. This was a treadmill or ergometer with computers, accessories, and so on for clinical testing. It was quite a rig, took up a lot of area at the booth, and was quite expensive to purchase or lease.

And always, always, always, every year without fail, the vendor would have a "representative" -- a professional model -- on the treadmill to demonstrate the rig. And she always, always, always wore pink or lavender spandex.

Understand that spandex isn't a requirement to be tested. If you're a patient undergoing one of these tests you're advised to wear comfortable exercise clothes. So you'd have to be particularly clueless to miss the point of the professional model (always blonde, by the way) in pink spandex.

My colleague decided that she had had enough. So one afternoon she approached the vendor's chief representative at the conference and quietly read him the riot act -- that she, my colleague, would put the word out to everyone she knew that no one, NO ONE, should buy this vendor's equipment because of the odious sexism. She didn't make a public scene but she made clear that if disregarded she would go to war.

The next day the model on the treadmill was wearing sweats.

And the conference the following year? No model. Lo and behold, you didn't need a model in pink spandex to sell medical testing equipment. Who would have ever guessed?

My admiration for my colleague, already quite high, grew even more after that.

My point? Yes, a fair bit of what's in the news today is nonsense perpetrated by fools and feminists. But there indeed sexism in our society, and we have to be willfully blind not to acknowledge when we see it.

All that to say this: I looked at the Diver article at the link. The woman has a point.

Benghazi police arrests cops over theft charges
[Libya Observer] The Libyan News Agency of al-Thanni government in the east has reported that Benghazi police department has caught some of the city’s cops red-handed as they were trying to sell a car from the Benghazi Security Department in the market.

The news agency reported the head of the media office of the criminal investigation department, Walid al-Arfi, said the city’s police patrols busted the cops after they tried to steal a Toyota pertaining to the department.

"The corrupted cops had reported that their Toyota was burnt in one of the frontlines before they got caught trying to sell it." al-Arfi added.

He indicated that upon tracking the information regarding the car, it turned out it was hidden in a farm in Benghazi suburbs, and then the police stormed the farm and found the car along with the cops.

The cops were on a deal to sell it to somebody for huge sum of money, al-Arfi concluded.

China is main investor in Kazakhstan
While the world fights and tussles, the Chinese are quietly buying up big chunks of Asia and Africa so as to lock away vitally needed raw materials.
China is main investor in Kazakhstan, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said at the meeting with Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang in Astana on Nov 3, Kazakh presidential press-service reported.

During the meeting Nursultan Nazarbayev and Li Keqiang discussed issues of implementation of agreements reached between Kazakhstan and China during Nazarbayev’s visit to China in September 2016. Nazarbayev noted that China is Kazakhstan’s important strategic partner and bilateral relations between two countries could be an example for other states.

Li Keqiang in turn noted that the relations between two countries are strategic and friendly.

“We intend to continue maintaining high-level contacts, which will promote mutual cooperation,” Li Keqiang said.

Among successful joint projects Li Keqiang mentioned car assembly plant in Kazakh city of Kostanai.

U.S. Govt. Hackers Ready to Hit Back If Russia Tries to Disrupt Election
U.S. military hackers have penetrated Russia's electric grid, telecommunications networks and the Kremlin's command systems, making them vulnerable to attack by secret American cyber weapons should the U.S. deem it necessary, according to a senior intelligence official and top-secret documents reviewed by NBC News.
Is there a reason why this is being discussed in the news? I would have assumed we had a competent counter-cyber team that could melt the best of Russian servers. Why are we talking about it in public the week before the election?
American officials have long said publicly that Russia, China and other nations have probed and left hidden malware on parts of U.S critical infrastructure, "preparing the battlefield," in military parlance, for cyber attacks that could turn out the lights or turn off the internet across major cities.

It's been widely assumed that the U.S. has done the same thing to its adversaries. The documents reviewed by NBC News -- along with remarks by a senior U.S. intelligence official -- confirm that, in the case of Russia.

U.S. officials continue to express concern that Russia will use its cyber capabilities to try to disrupt next week's presidential election. U.S. intelligence officials do not expect Russia to attack critical infrastructure -- which many believe would be an act of war -- but they do anticipate so-called cyber mischief, including the possible release of fake documents and the proliferation of bogus social media accounts designed to spread misinformation.

On Friday the hacker known as "Guccifer 2.0" -- which U.S. officials say is a front for Russian intelligence -- tweeted a threat to monitor the U.S. elections "from inside the system."

The Grand Turk
Turkey's "coup" response and anti-Kurd effort merge
Turkey: 9 opposition newspaper staff formally arrested

[Ynet] Opposition Cumhuriyet newspaper says a court has ordered that its chief editor and eight senior staff be jailed pending trial.

Editor-in-chief Murat Sabuncu, cartoonist Musa Kart and other staff were detained for questioning earlier this week -- some following raids at their homes -- for allegedly supporting Kurdish militants as well as a movement led by Fethullah Gulen, the US-based Muslim cleric whom Turkey accuses of masterminding the failed coup in July.

The court ruled for their formal arrests on Saturday.

Turkey detains 9 more officials of pro-Kurdish HDP party

[Ynet] Turkish authorities detained nine officials from the country's main pro-Kurdish opposition party on Saturday, a party official said, a day after the party's leaders were formally arrested. The nine officials included the provincial and district heads of the pro-Kurdish opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in the southeastern province of Adana, the official said.

HDP co-leaders Selahattin Demirtas and Figen Yuksekdag were arrested on Friday as part of a terrorism investigation, prompting strong international condemnation of a widening crackdown on dissent under President Tayyip Erdogan.

Head of Turkey's pro-Kurdish opposition taken to prison

[Ynet] Turkey's state-run news agency says the leader of the pro-Kurdish opposition party has been taken to a maximum security prison in the northwestern city of Edirne.

The Anadolou agency said Saturday that Selahattin Demirtas, co-chair of the People's Democratic Party or HDP, was among the 12 party legislators detained overnight for refusal to testify on terror-related charges.

Demirtas, along with fellow co-chair Figen Yuksekdag and seven other lawmakers were formally put under arrest pending trial. The courts released three others on condition they report regularly to authorities.

The private Dogan News Agency said Yuksekdag was taken to a maximum security prison in the northwestern city of Kocaeli.

Istanbul police break up protest with tear gas, plastic bullets

[AlAhram] Istanbul police on Saturday used tear gas, water cannon and plastic bullets to break up a protest by hundreds of people against the arrest of pro-Kurdish Turkish deputies. The protestors demonstrated outside the main mosque in the Sisli district on the European side of the city shouting slogans denouncing the "fascist" state and vowing "we will not be silent".

But police rapidly moved in, dispersing the crowds by spraying torrents of freezing water from trucks, using tear gas and firing plastic bullets, AFP correspondents said.

The protest came after nine MPs from the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), including its two co-leaders, were jailed on Friday ahead of trial on terror charges.

DSP among three police officials booked on murder charge
[DAWN] LAKKI MARWAT: Three police officials, including a DSP, have been booked on charge of murder and other offences following court orders, a source disclosed to Dawn here on Friday.

The source said the complainant Ghazi Khela, widow of Dildar Khan, had filed a petition in the court of district and sessions judge, stating that eight members of her family had been killed by rivals over a blood feud. "Our rivals are rich and influential people who influenced DSP Afsar Khan, SHO Damsaz Khan along with a police party to besiege our house in Tajori town in July last," she claimed. She said the cops hurled a hand grenade and also opened fire resulting into killing of her son, Qadeerullah (10), and inflicting wounds to Noor Sajida, Wazira and Asma Bibi.

The woman pointed out that neither any proclaimed offender was present in her house nor weapons were dumped there when police conducted the raid.

She requested the district and sessions judge to order registration of FIR against police officials and direct quarters concerned to conduct an impartial investigation into the case.

On court orders police started the paperwork but haven't done much else against DSP Afsar Khan, SHO Damsaz Khan, ASI Nizam Khan and other coppers under sections 302, 324, 148, 149, 449 of Pakistain Penal Code and explosives act, the source maintained.

Police claimed that on July 13, DSP Lakki Afsar Khan, SHO Tajori Damsaz Khan, two passers-by identified as Waheed and Noor Aslam and three women had sustained bullet wounds in a shootout with a proclaimed offender named Gulnawar in Tajori area. During the shootout and a hand grenade kaboom a minor, Qadeerullah, was killed while the outlaw managed to escape. They claimed that the outlaw was brother-in-law of the woman.

Meanwhile,
...back at the dirigible, the pilot and the copilot had both hit the silk.

Jack! Cynthia exclaimed. Do you know how to drive one of these things?

Jack wiped some of the blood from his knuckles.

No, he said. Do you?...

DPO Syed Khalid Hamdani has constituted a special investigation team to conduct fair investigation into the case and submit progress on daily basis.
