Plan to airlift 4,000 cows to isolated Qatar to maintain milk supplies
[Guardian] A Qatari businessman is planning to airlift 4,000 Holstein dairy cows into the country as part of efforts to maintain milk supplies during the blockade by Qatar’s Gulf Arab neighbours.

The proposal ‐ described as the biggest airlift of cattle ever attempted ‐ comes as Qatar moves rapidly to open an air and sea bridge via Iran, Turkey and port facilities in Oman.

The plan to fly in the cows was disclosed by Moutaz Al Khayyat, chairman of Power International Holding, to the Bloomberg news agency. Khayyat said it would take as many as 60 flights to deliver the cattle. He had originally planned to import the cows by ship for a newly completed dairy facility near Doha.

Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates cut diplomatic, economic and transport ties with Qatar on 5 June, accusing Doha of supporting extremist groups.

Until then, Qatar had imported most of its dairy products from neighbouring countries ‐ including Saudi Arabia. Riyadh closed the Qatari peninsula’s only land border, threatening the import of both fresh food and raw materials needed to complete a $200bn infrastructure project for the 2022 football World Cup.

Turkey has replaced products that disappeared from supermarket shelves, including yoghurt and laban, while Morocco and Iran have pledged to supply the emirate with foodstuffs.

Qatar has negotiated new cargo handling arrangements in the Omani ports of Sohar and Salalah, avoiding the need for goods to stop in the UAE. Shipments of containers through the UAE port of Jebel Ali were frozen last week.

#4  Can we get PETA on this case? It sounds a lot like cruelty to animals. These are not goats or camels. How long will they last in Qatar with nothing but Qataris to take care of them?

#5  So, because of the blockade they can't bring in milk, but they can bring in ... cows? Only in Arabia.

Indian news anchor shut down a cleric for mocking women's choice to wear what they want
[IMAGES.DAWN] This past few weeks, we've seen many women in the public eye trolled for personal choices like their attire.

A few days ago, on Indian TV chat show The Urban Debate on Mirror Now, anchor Faye D'Souza was hosting an episode on this subject when a cleric tried to shame her for her suggestion that men and women should have the same freedoms.

The cleric named Maulana Yasoob Abbas said to D'Souza, “Come to this debate dressed in your underwear. Then there will be equality between men and women."

The comment made by Maulana Abbas was stoopid low on intellectual value and D'Souza could have chosen to ignore it. But she decided to use her airtime to point out the root of problematic statements like his.

"Maulana Ji threatened me to show up at my workplace wearing underwear because I want to be equal to men. He hopes that he will rile me up, that I will throw a fit and I will lose control of my panel and I will forget how to do my job," she began.

"I've seen a lot like you. I'm not afraid of you or threatened by you or rattled by you. Because you threatened me with something so cheap, you tried to rattle when I'm doing my job... all you men think that if you rattle [Fatima Sana] when she's doing her job, when you rattle Sania Mirza when she's doing her job, if you rattle all women when they're doing their jobs, they will run back into their kitchens, cover themselves up, and leave the world again for you to conquer. I have news for you, we are not going anywhere," D'Souza said.

White Professor Fired From Black College Gets $4.9 Million
h/t Instapundit
A Missouri appeals court upheld a $4.85 million racial discrimination award to a white teacher who was fired from Harris-Stowe State University, an historically black college.

A trial jury awarded Elizabeth Wilkins $1.35 million in compensatory damages and $3.5 million in punitive damages on her claim that she was fired in favor of less senior black teachers. She also claimed Dr. Latisha Smith, the temporary co-chair for Harris-Stowe’s Teacher Education Department, repeatedly proclaimed her belief in "black power" in emails.

Harris-Stowe’s defense was crippled by the fact that it deleted emails in Smith’s account, in violation of a court order.
And here I thought that only white males can be discriminatory.

NJ Yearbook Advisor Suspended for Altering Photos of Kids Wearing Trump Shirts
We’re sure a paid suspension will teach this moonbat a lesson. She should be fired and the school should replace every yearbook.

The Wall Township High School yearbook advisor is suspended indefinitely as the district investigates why photos were edited to remove images supporting President Donald Trump, a district official said Monday.

The paid suspension comes after parents and students complained that at least two photos of students wearing Trump campaign shirts were edited and a Trump quote was removed from beneath another student’s photo.

Yearbook advisor Susan Parsons, a technology/media teacher, could not be reached by phone. A message to Parsons’ school email account was returned as "undeliverable" and a woman reached at her listed address in Wall Township declined to comment.

Amazing, we found an anti-Trump liberal who finally has shut up.

Parsons has worked in education for 21 years, including 13 in the district, according to state records.

Changes to the yearbook, released on Wednesday, drew the ire of both students and parents in a Wall, a Monmouth County town where Trump carried nearly 63 percent of the vote in November’s election.

Superintendent Cheryl Dyer said last week that the district is investigating the allegation of censorship and possible violation of First Amendment rights.

"There is nothing in our student dress code that would prevent a student from expressing his or her political views and support for a candidate for political office via appropriate clothing," Dyer wrote in a letter to parents. "Rather, I applaud students for becoming involved in politics and for participation in our democratic society."

One of the students whose photo was edited, Grant Berardo, 17, wore his navy blue "TRUMP Make America Great Again" T-shirt to picture day.

The photo proofs came back with the Trump slogan on the shirt and the image is also used on the electronic student ID system, he told The Star-Ledger last week.

But when the yearbook came out, Berardo was wearing a plain blue T-shirt.

Berardo thought the edit was "kind of stupid," he said.

"I mean, he is our president," Berardo said. "He’s the president of the United States. How is that offensive?"

Nearly 2M fell off Obamacare coverage rolls through mid-March
The number of Americans insured under Obamacare fell by nearly 2 million people between Jan. 31 and mid-March, according to new CMS data that found about 10.3 million still were covered through health law exchanges.

The decline reflects customers failing to pay premiums after they selected plans during the most recent open enrollment period. Roughly 12.2 million people had selected private plans through the federal HealthCare.gov exchanges and the state-run marketplaces that operate in about a dozen states as of the Jan. 31 deadline to sign up.

CMS said high costs and lack of affordability were the most common factors individuals cited when asked why they didn't keep their coverage. A separate report on enrollment trends attributed the drop-off to other factors, including securing a job with employer-sponsored insurance

The 10.3 million covered individuals include those who selected a plan that began in January or February and had paid their first month's premium.

Enrollment attrition also occurred during the Obama administration, though reporting periods varied. Roughly 11.1 million people were enrolled in Obamacare plans at the end of March 2016, down from the 12.7 million people who signed up during the previous enrollment period.

The new report comes amid continued troubling news about health law insurance markets, including Anthem's decision this month to pull out of Ohio's Obamacare marketplace, potentially leaving 10,500 customers in 18 counties without any insurance options for 2018. Republicans in Congress have cited coverage gaps and other problems as justification for repealing the health law.

Sign-ups for Obamacare coverage declined for the first time in the 2017 season and fell below the Obama administration's estimates for the three-month enrollment window that ended in January, according to federal data.

The Trump administration scrapped phone calls and other forms of outreach to encourage sign-ups in the finals days of the enrollment period, then reversed itself after the move sparked outcry from the law's supporters and health insurers. Officials said they were unable to pull back some HealthCare.gov radio and TV advertising that had been purchased by the Obama administration. HHS was able to cancel about $4 million to $5 million in ads.

#2  This is the endplay of cargo cultism. Leftists think if you can get it down on a piece of paper with your exotic fake prexy's signature on it, it's a done deal. Think Yul Brenner as Pharaoh - "So let it be written, so let it be done..."

#4  Well we all know the promising new revolution in healthcare that became known as 'Obamacare' was intentionally sabotaged (taken down and turned into horse shi* in less than 6 months) by the Trump administration.

The Mayo Clinic would have been making free, nationwide house calls had Trump not been elected. History, the media, and academia will eventually set the record straight. You'll see.
