White Men In Kansas City Have Been Shot Dead By Possibly Racially Motivated Serial Killer
[Daily Caller] A 22-year-old black man in Kansas City who once said he wanted to "kill all white people" has been charged with murdering two middle-aged white men and is suspected of killing three more.

Fredrick Demond Scott was charged Tuesday in the murders of Steven Gibbons and John Palmer.

Gibbons, a 57-year-old Kansas City man, was found dead Aug. 14 after being shot in the back just after getting off of a city bus. Video footage showed an unidentified black man also exiting the bus and following Gibbons just before he was shot.

Evidence found at the scene of that murder led police to Scott, a former Burger King employee who has had a few run-ins with the law in the past.

Police were able to match DNA from a bottle found at the scene of Gibbons’ death to a cigarette Scott discarded outside of a Kansas City gas station. DNA was also found on a t-shirt left at the scene of the Aug. 19, 2016 murder of Palmer.

Investigators also suspect Scott in three other killings -- David Lenox on Feb. 27, Timothy Rice on April 4, and Mike Darby on May 18.

All of the men are white males between the ages of 54 and 67.

Maniac yells ‘I hate white people,’ punches 84-year-old man on subway
[NYDAILYNEWS] An 84-year-old man was punched in the head by a subway psycho who said he hates white people, but the plucky victim says he’s taking it in stride and feels sorry for his attacker.

John Stewart was riding a Brooklyn-bound J train after boarding at Sutphin Blvd. in Jamaica on Aug. 23 at about 2:30 p.m. when, he said, he dropped his cane onto another straphanger’s legs.

"I was trying to hold my cane and the pole at the same time. Apparently my cane fell on his legs and that’s what upset him. But I don’t condemn him," he said.

As the train rolled into the Woodhaven Blvd. stop, the straphanger stood up and slammed him in the right side of the head.

"I hate white people and I hope they burn in hell!" the unhinged straphanger shouted.

"I’m not blaming him. I’m blaming the societies that put him in this situation. I think our society really has to get it together and ask real honest questions. There are a lot of hurting people out there," Stewart told the Daily News Tuesday.

#4  Blaming the "societies" has been the modus operandi for the last 50 years. How well has that worked out?

I get the impression that the vicitm's plea for "our society to get it together and ask real honest questions," has little, if anything, to do with personal responsibility and accountability.

Some people will never get it; even when it literally punches them in the face.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
2 explosions, black smoke reported at chemical plant outside Houston
[FoxNews] Officials in Harris County early Thursday reported two explosions and black smoke billowing from a flooded chemical plant about 25 miles northeast of Houston.

Fox 26 Houston reported that officials evacuated a 1.5-mile radius around the Arkema Inc. plant in Crosby. The plant lost power Sunday and its backup generators amid Harvey's days-long deluge, leaving it without refrigeration for chemicals that become volatile as the temperature rises.

One deputy was reportedly taken to hospital after inhaling fumes. Nine others drove themselves to hospital as precaution, the report said.

There was "no way to prevent" the explosion, CEO Rich Rowe said earlier Wednesday.

In its most recently available submission from 2014, Arkema said potentially 1.1 million residents could be affected over an area of 23 miles in a worst case, according to information compiled by a nonprofit group and posted on a website hosted by the Houston Chronicle.

But, Arkema added, it was using "multiple layers of preventative and mitigation measures" at the plant, including steps to reduce the amount of substances released, and that made the worst case "very unlikely."

Rowe told Reuters that the company has no way to prevent the explosion because the plant is swamped by six feet of water. The company did not move the chemicals, but told Reuters that it made extensive preparations.

Arkema manufactures organic peroxides, a family of compounds used for making everything from pharmaceuticals to construction materials.

"As the temperature rises, the natural state of these materials will decompose. A white smoke will result, and that will catch fire," Smith said. "So the fire is imminent. The question is when."

The company shut down the Crosby site before Harvey made landfall Friday, but a crew of 11 had stayed behind. That group was removed and residents within 1.5 miles were told to evacuate Tuesday after the plant lost power.

Harris County Fire Marshal spokeswoman Rachel Moreno said the 1.5-mile radius was developed in consultation with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and other subject-matter experts. "It's a concerning situation, yes," Moreno said. "But the facility is surrounded by water right now so we don't anticipate the fire going anywhere."

Daryl Roberts, the company's vice president of manufacturing, technology and regulatory services in the Americas, did not dispute that worst-case scenario but said that assumed all the controls in place failed and strong winds blew directly toward Houston, the nation's fourth-largest city.

"We have not modeled this exact scenario but we are very comfortable with this 1.5-mile radius," Roberts told the AP. He added that it mostly resembled less serious scenarios that would affect a half-mile radius and a few dozen people.

Roberts said the vessels containing the organic peroxide are equipped with controls to slow the release of chemicals. Because of the water, he said, the chemicals will quickly vaporize, reducing the size and scope of the fire.

#1  Fire insurance may cover losses that flood insurance doesn't. Way, way back during Hurricane Agnes, a family owned manufacturing plant were very lucky to have a fire break out during the flood. They were the only ones in the industrial block to get insurance relief.

#10  That's true for the large ones, Deacon. In this case, the utility power delivery, on-site normal power substation and both large emergency generators failed due to flooding.

We try to talk 'critical facilities' in areas prone to tropical storms and/or flooding into raising their emergency systems and generators to at least thirty feet above the average site grade elevation.

Whether the facility does that or not is usually driven by cost. Ultimate cost in doing so would have been cheaper in this particular case as it appears that this facility left their essential systems at grade level. Sorry Raj, but I'm sure it was the bean counters that drove the decision.

Arabia
Hajj begins today - Saudis and Iran in a dispute
More than 1.7 million Muslims from around the world have arrived in Saudi Arabia for the start of the annual hajj pilgrimage this week. Once in Mecca -- the site of Islam's holiest place of worship-- they will be reminded that the ruling Al Saud family is the only custodian of this place.

Large portraits of the king and the country's founder hang in hotel lobbies across the city. A massive clock tower bearing the name of King Salman's predecessor flashes fluorescent green lights at worshippers below. A large new wing of the Grand Mosque in Mecca is named after a former Saudi king, and one of the mosque's entrances is named after another... Saudi Arabia uses its oversight of the hajj to bolster its standing in the Muslim world -- and to spite its foes, from Iran and Syria to Qatar. Its archrival, the Shiite power Iran, has in turn tried to utilize the hajj to undermine the kingdom...

Ahead of this year's hajj, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei essentially called on pilgrims to hold protests...

"Where else, better than Mecca, Medina ... can Muslims go to express their concerns regarding Al-Aqsa and Palestine?" Khamenei said, referring to one of Islam's holiest and most contentious sites in Jerusalem.

Senior Saudi clerics were quick to respond, saying the pilgrimage should not be exploited and reminding worshippers that the ultimate goal of the hajj is "to spend all their time and effort in worshipping Almighty Allah."

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Russia Remains the Only Country to Possess Armored Vehicle Airdropped with Crew and Troops Aboard
This year, 150 BMD-4M airborne infantry fighting vehicles and their BTR-MDM trooper carrier models will enter service with the Russian Airborne Forces. In the future all air assault divisions will be armed with BMD-4Ms.

The BMD-4M is a new generation amphibious infantry fighting vehicle (IFV), not a modernized variant of the older BMD-3. It is the only IFV which can be dropped from an airplane using a parachute platform. The vehicle can be paradropped with all the crew inside, thus saving time for the assembly after landing. Launched from an aircraft, it can reach the assigned targets in a matter of minutes at a speed of up to 45 mph, opening fire from a range of weapons. The BMD-4M is able to cover over 300 miles without refueling.

The Il-76 transport aircraft can carry two BMD-4Ms. Once landed, less than three minutes are required to start the vehicle, manage the positions and arm all weapons.

The vehicle can also drive through the water. The BMD-4M boasts the capability of fording water sources and changing tactical approaches on-the-fly. On water it is propelled by two waterjets. The vehicle can traverse water obstacles without any special preparation. The BMD-4M can develop a maximum speed of 70 km/h on roads and 10 km/h afloat.

The vehicle has a length of 6m, width of 3.15m and height of 2.7m. The combat weight: 13.5t. It has a cruising range of 500km on highways. The ground clearance ranges from 130mm to 530mm. The BMD-4M is able to negotiate gradients of up to 35 degrees and maintain fire whilst in motion by traversing the turret and keeping the target in its sights. The BMD-4M has a crew of three: a vehicle commander, a gunner, and a driver. It can carry up to five troops.

US ship shoots down missile with SM-6
[NYPOST] A US warship shot down a medium-range ballistic missile in a test off Hawaii on Wednesday ‐ as North Korean strongman Kim Jong Un vowed to forge ahead with more missile tests in the Pacific, officials said.

The USS John Paul Jones detected and tracked a missile launched from the Pacific Missile Range Facility on Kauai before intercepting it with SM-6 missiles, the US Missile Defense Agency said.

The interception comes after a previous failed test in June from the same guided missile destroyer, Fox News reported.

"We are working closely with the fleet to develop this important new capability, and this was a key milestone in giving our Aegis BMD ships an enhanced capability to defeat ballistic missiles in their terminal phase," MDA Director Lt. Gen. Sam Greaves said in a statement.

Tit for tat: Seoul unveils missiles that may counter North Korea
[RT] South Korea has released dramatic footage of a missile test, conducted last week, showing the launch of two missiles, one with a 310-mile (500km) range and the other with a 500-mile (800km) range, which may counter North Korea.

The tests were the last ones before the deployment of the missiles, South Korea’s state-run Agency for Defense Development (ADD) said, as cited by Yonhap news agency.

The ADD said the missiles will serve as key elements in South Korea's pre-emptive strike scheme.

"Our military has the missile capability with top-level precision and power to strike any place in North Korea if necessary," the ADD said. "It will greatly reinforce missile forces and power down the road as well."

German Foreign Minister joins calls to withdraw US nukes from the country
[RT] Germany’s top diplomat has backed the suggestion of Social Democrat (SPD) leader and Chancellor hopeful Martin Schulz, who has pledged to rid his country of US nukes.
Okay. Bye.
He won't win, so it doesn't really matter what he says.
Washington, meanwhile, is pressing ahead to modernize its nuclear stockpile.

Sigmar Gabriel's remarks came at the end of his official visit to the US Wednesday.

"Certainly, I am convinced that it is important to finally talk again about the arms control and disarmament," Gabriel told the DPA news agency, as quoted by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper.

#1  I agree with the man. We've lost enough baby sitting for the ungrateful. You'd be surprise the number of service members we've lost in training and vehicle accidents in the place. Somewhere around 1980, Western Europe passed the US in combined GDP and population. Like any welfare, its never ending. Time to follow the French model for NATO, keep some liaison personnel there, everyone else comes home. It's their problem.

#2  I disagree. Our military presence and 'trip wires' are needed everywhere! How can 'endless wars' continue if we do not participate ?

The Swiss model of minding one's own business, and letting the poor, ignorant bastids fight it out, how very boring.

SPLC Moves Millions To Offshore Accounts
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a liberal, Alabama-based 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization that has gained prominence on the left for its "hate group" designations, pushes millions of dollars to offshore entities as part of its business dealings, records show.

Additionally, the nonprofit pays lucrative six-figure salaries to its top directors and key employees while spending little on legal services despite its stated intent of "fighting hate and bigotry" using litigation, education, and other forms of advocacy.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is perhaps best known for its "hate map," a collection of organizations the nonprofit deems "domestic hate groups" that lists mainstream conservative organizations alongside racist groups such as the Ku Klux Klan and is often referenced in the media. A gunman opened fire at the Washington, D.C., offices of the conservative Family Research Council in 2012 after seeing it listed as an "anti-gay" group on SPLC's website.

The SPLC has turned into a fundraising powerhouse, recording more than $50 million in contributions and $328 million in net assets on its 2015 Form 990, the most recently available tax form from the nonprofit. SPLC's Form 990-T, its business income tax return, from the same year shows that they have "financial interests" in the Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, and Bermuda. No information is available beyond the acknowledgment of the interests at the bottom of the form.

It's pretty clear to me that the SPLC does not strictly adhere to the 501(c)(3) guidelines as outlined by the IRS. Go and check out their 2015 Federal Form 990 and see, for example, how much in 'charity' this 'charity' gives back to the community, as that is one of the criteria for being granted exempt tax status. Line 13 of the first page of the 990 is fucking ZERO for both years; they simply do not give out any money. I have no problem with the IRS investigating and, when appropriate, revoking 501(c)(3) statuses and handing these cocksuckers a massive tax bill. To the best of my knowledge, the IRS has never done this as part of their duties, and it's well past time that it starts. Bye-bye, SPLC.

#1  Additionaly, as a political organization, they have another filing requirement. By my calculations, they'll owe over $200K if they haven't been filing this tax return.

#2  splc has employee expenses and claims their employees are carrying out charitable activities, e.g. education, advocacy.

#3  ...which we both know is bullshit. The IRS' measuring stick is direct cash support to other charities. Since the SPLC is a left-wing entity, they get a complete pass.

#4  sadly, once an org gets certified for 501(c)(1), t takes a pretty egregious issue to have that status revoked

you may be correct that the activities of the employees are not eligible under the education or advocacy but that is not something you say without some sort of audit - of course the auditors who do the routine audits tend to only understand numbers and also may be friends of friends of the 501 org employees

you could also argue that splc is partisan but that is also determined by audit

I don't see any requirement in the statute 26USC501(c) for line 13 of 990 to be a certain percentage of expenses

NASA wants to prevent the Yellowstone super volcano from destroying the US
[FOXNEWS] A super volcano is very different from the common conception of tall cones of rock and ash that occasionally catastrophically erupt.

Instead, it’s a vast space of collapsed crust that can cover hundreds of square kilometers.

Instead, vast quantities of searing magma and clouds of fumes would slowly crawl across the landscape — burying much of the United States under a thick coat of ash and lava.

In the case of Yellowstone, it’s enough to change the climate of the world for several centuries.

An event in Indonesia, about 75,000 years ago, named the Toba catastrophe, pumped some 4000 tons of hydrogen sulphide gas into the atmosphere along with about 2800 cubic kilometres of ejecta. This produced a global volcanic winter that lasted a decade.

Yellowstone isn’t expected to erupt any time soon. It appears to burst roughly once every 700,000 years. The most recent was 640,000 years ago, with other events 1.3 million years ago and 2.1 million years ago.
Well, they've got 60,000 years to figure it. They'll probably come up with something.
This is much more regular than cataclysmic comet impacts.

#1  Drill around the perimeter of the volcanic zone and make it a huge geothermal generation project. Suck the heat out of the zone. That's the theory.

#4  They could use the DV waters to put out the volcano.

#5  It is high time to evacuate the areas that will be affected by the upcoming eruption.

#6  The good news is that if it does erupt, it will take care of global warming. Of course, Al Gore will blame the eruption on climate change. And Trump.

Russia and China to work together on space explorations, Moon missions from 2018
[RT] Russia and China are due to sign a mutual agreement on space exploration from 2018 to 2022, a spokesperson from Russia’s official space agency has confirmed. It will include satellite development and missions to the Moon. The deal, which covers five fields of space exploration, is expected to be signed in September, RIA Novosti reported Monday.

Rule of law
A US judge on Wednesday halted parts of a Texas law intended to aid federal immigration enforcement by punishing so-called "sanctuary cities" two days before it was to have taken effect.

Chief US District Judge Orlando Garcia in San Antonio's federal court found the Texas measure was unlikely to withstand constitutional scrutiny.

#1  The notion of "sanctuary cities" defies reason. Do you suppose a judge named Garcia might come under a little suspicion? Taxpayers ought to question sanctuary cities and their protection of lawbreakers. If there are no consequences to breaking the law, you have no law.

Ergo, the rule of man.

New Orleans and Katrina - Rule of Man.
