Harvey Weinstein expelled from motion picture academy
[LATIMES] Embattled film mogul Harvey Weinstein ‐ a once-dominant force in the Academy Awards who rewrote the rules of Oscar campaigning ‐ has been expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in response to mounting allegations of sexual harassment and assault against him.

The film academy’s 54-member board of governors, which includes such industry luminaries as Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, Kathleen Kennedy and Whoopi Goldberg, voted in an emergency meeting on Saturday morning to remove Weinstein from the organization’s ranks in an unprecedented public rebuke of a prominent industry figure. The move marked the latest blow in Weinstein’s stunning downfall and, in symbolic terms, amounts to a virtual expulsion from Hollywood itself.

#1  And he now has very few options for doing the Polanski.

Oscars board revokes Harvey's lifetime membership over sexual harassment scandal meanwhile Woody Allen actress alleges Weinstein RAPED her at her London home as Scotland Yard investigates

Scotland Yard involvement means the European Arrest Warrant could be used.

Kind of limit's Harvey's choices if he wants to "boogie."

Community mourns ‘beloved’ teacher killed in Rogers Park crossfire
[CHICAGO.SUNTIMES] Shocked by the death of a longtime reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
teacher who was killed by a stray bullet Friday night in Rogers Park, her North Side community looked to honor her memory on Saturday.

Cynthia Trevillion, 64, was caught in the crossfire while walking about 6:30 p.m. in the 6900 block of North Glenwood, when someone in a dark-colored SUV opened fire on two juveniles standing on the street near the Morse Red Line CTA station, authorities said.

Trevillion was struck in the neck and head, and she died after being taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Trevillion worked as a middle school math teacher at Chicago Waldorf School, where she was a member of the school’s faculty for more than 30 years, Administrative Director Luke Goodwin said. She taught at Waldorf for the last 14 years in Chicago, but previously worked for the private school system in Ann Arbor and bankrupt, increasingly impoverished, reliably Democrat, Detroit
... ruled by Democrats since 1962. A city whose Golden Age included the Purple Gang...
. Her husband John Trevillion is also a Waldorf employee.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with John and Cynthia’s family," Goodwin said. "Cynthia was a beloved faculty member for over 30 years. Her Waldorf family reaches hundreds if not thousands of grieving friends."

A campaign set up on the fundraising website YouCaring raised more than $12,000 in less than a day to help cover funeral costs.

"To be sure, Cynthia had dedicated her life to providing our children with the best education possible," a statement on the site read.

Community members planned to gather Saturday night at Rogers Park Social, a bar and lounge located near the shooting scene. The event looked to serve as a fundraiser for her family, and as an opportunity to honor her memory, according to an event posted on Facebook. A Rogers Park community vigil was also scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday at Tobey Prinz Beach Park.

After the shooting, the vehicle drove off and the juveniles bravely ran away, Ald Joe Moore (49th) said in a statement, adding that he was working with police and urged anyone with information to call Area North detectives at (312) 744-8200.

"Our hearts are heavy today as our community grieves the loss of an innocent victim to gun violence," Moore said.

The alderman said he was aware of an "increase in youths loitering" at the intersection where the shots were fired. Earlier this week, a "meet-and-greet" was held in front of a Dunkin Donuts at the Red Line station with local coppers.

"The police and the city must do its part, but we also need residents of the community to become more involved," Moore said.

The neighborhood also experienced another shooting Friday night, which critically maimed a 15-year-old boy about 30 minutes earlier and about a mile away, Chicago Police said. The boy was shot in the back during an "altercation" in an alley off the 7100 block of North Ridge. He was also taken to Saint Francis Hospital, where he was in surgery Friday night and listed at death's door.

Chicago named among safest cities in the world. Honest.
[NYPOST] Despite reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
’s alarming, if select, murder statistics and routine singling out by President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
for gun violence, this lakeside metropolis was just ranked one of the safest cities in the world.

The Economist Intelligence Unit, a London-based research firm affiliated with the Economist magazine, named Chicago to its 2017 Safe Cities Index, issued Thursday ‐ one of only three US cities to crack the top 20 ‐ largely based on advances in digital security.

The annual ranking assesses 60 global cities using four factors: personal safety, health security, digital security and the safety of infrastructure.

Chicago, at 19th-safest, narrowly trailed the other top-20 US representatives, the Socialist paradise of San Francisco
...where God struck dead Anton LaVey, home of the Sydney Ducks, ruled by Vigilance Committee from 1859 through 1867, reliably and volubly Democrat since 1964...
at 15th and Los Angles at 18th. Tokyo, Singapore and Osaka topped the overall list, an order that has remained unchanged since 2015. Buenos Aires was the only city in the so-called developing world in the top half of the index.

Chicago fared best in digital security, jumping 12 places in the rankings and following just Tokyo and Singapore. The report gave props to an initiative in cybersecurity training through local colleges and the Department of Defense that Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced in January.

Latin American cities performed poorly, with Buenos Aires 23rd and Rio de Janiero and São Paolo sharing 49th place. "Brazil is one of the top sites for cybercrime in the world," said Robert Muggah, co-founder of the Igarapé Institute, which participated in the report. "That has to do with the fact that internet banking came to Brazil quite early. So you have [a] sophisticated hacking community in Brazil."

Lena Dunham could take over as Glamour mag editor
Lena Dunham is reportedly in talks to take over as the next editor in chief of Glamour magazine.
Because she's so glam...
Dunham, the star, writer, and creator of the HBO hit series Girls, is said to be a candidate to take over at the glossy magazine published by Conde Naste, WWD reported on Friday.

Glamour is searching for a replacement for Cindi Leive, who departed her position as editor in chief last month after 16 years.

Leive left her post the same week as three other big names in the world of magazine publishing stepped down – Graydon Carter of Vanity Fair; Roberta Myers of Elle; and Nancy Gibbs of Time.

'I’m leaving the brand in great shape,' Leive told The New York Times last month.

Leive is credited with leading the magazine into the digital age.
Glamour.com draws 11 million monthly unique visitors. The magazine also has 15 million followers across various social media platforms.

Missing Key West sign has been found - 300 miles away
[MIAMIHERALD] Paradise has been found.

The missing "Welcome to Key West" sign ‐ iconic signage that pronounced Key West as Paradise U.S.A.‐ was found 300 miles away early Thursday in Fort Myers Beach. (In nautical distance it’s about 110 miles).

The sign, which greeted visitors at the island’s entrance off U.S. 1, disappeared after Hurricane Irma slammed into the the island chain.

It was found at the Key West Express docking station in fort Myers early Thursday after an unidentified couple dropped it off, WINK News reported.

Epidemic of SA Plaasmoorde (Farm Murders) Continues as Gunmen Shoot Elderly Victim
[Breitbart] Another South African farmer has been reported killed after three gunmen attacked his homestead ‐ part of a sustained campaign of violence across the country.

The alleged attack took place in Potchefstroom in the North West province, according to Times Live. The elderly victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from the private ambulance company ER24.

OFM, a radio station based in Central South Africa, put the farmer’s age at 69, and quoted police spokeswoman Pelonomi Makau as saying the killers were driven off by his son following a high-stakes altercation:

"They saw three suspects hiding at a fence who shot at the farm owner," she said. "He died at the scene and the son managed to fight back the suspects. He managed to confiscate a firearm, knife and cell phone from the suspects. They then fled the scene."

The killing is just the latest in a series of murders which the government has been accused of encouraging, and which have made farming in South Africa the most deadly occupation in the world.

#1  Reporting from the UN, various 'rights' and anti-genocide groups, advocates of so-called 'International Law" or the liberal media currently unavailable.

A majority of the media and gov't generally ignores urban crime in the U.S. as well. I would offer the continued carnage in Chicago and Houston as examples. The reporting of these genocidal events fails to further the liberal, socialist narrative.

News of these events is inconvenient but necessary for change and progress. Media suppression is essential.

China-Japan-Koreas
The Book General Mattis Reads to Be Prepared for War With North Korea
[Politico] Last Monday, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, a retired Marine Corps general with a legendary appetite for military history, ticked off a list of book recommendations to a crowd of U.S. Army leaders and supporters‐titles that might help them understand command, strategy and the ways war is evolving. But he kept coming back to one book in particular: T. R. Fehrenbach’s This Kind of War, a 54-year-old history of the Korean War that’s much better known in military than civilian quarters.

Fehrenbach, Mattis explained during his address to the Association of the United States Army’s Exposition on Building Readiness, reminds us of two essential truths about war: its "primitive, atavistic, and unrelenting nature" and the "absolutely fundamental" importance of boots on the ground, even in an age of drone attacks and cyberwarfare. "You may fly over a nation forever, you may bomb it, atomize it, pulverize it and wipe it clean of life. But if you desire to defend it, if you desire to protect it, if you desire to keep it for civilization, you must do this on the ground the way the Roman legions did: by putting your young men in the mud," Mattis said, quoting Fehrenbach. "I would only modify it today by saying, ’by putting your young men and women in the mud.’"

These citations were preludes to Mattis’s final punch. The last question he took from the audience finally addressed the concern on everyone’s mind: As Trump and Kim Jong Un exchange dire nuclear threats, "what can the U.S. military do to lessen the likelihood of conflict on the Korean Peninsula?"

"There’s a reason I recommended T.R. Fehrenbach’s book," Mattis replied, "that we all pull it out and read it one more time."

Europe
Austrian conservative set to become Europe's youngest leader
[BBC] Austria's conservative People's Party (ÖVP), led by 31-year-old Sebastian Kurz, is set to win the country's general election, projections suggest.

The victory would make Mr Kurz Europe's youngest leader.

The People's Party was set to win 30.2%, followed by the far-right Freedom Party (FPÖ) with 26.8% and the Social Democrats with 26.3%.

Short of a majority, Mr Kurz's party could seek an alliance with the FPÖ, which campaigned against immigration.

Immigration has been a dominant issue in the run-up to the vote, and the FPÖ is thought to have its best chance in years of returning to government.

Update at 12:30 p.m. EDT: The Local - Austria is liveblogging the election here. They note official results will not be announced until October 31st.

Left discovers how to cancel Civil War reenactments
[Breitbart] The FBI is investigating the "suspicious package" and bomb threats that caused an evacuation at one of Virginia’s oldest, largest, and longest-running Civil War reenactments, Saturday.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office shut the event down after a visitor found a "suspicious package" near the Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park around 4 p.m. Saturday. Due to its proximity to the Civil War reenactment, the sheriff’s office evacuated the event and shut down the festivities, a local NBC affiliate reported.

Authorities soon rendered the device safe, and no one was reported harmed. Participants were allowed back after police scanned the area for additional threats.

The sponsors of the event, the Cedar Creek Battlefield Association, had acknowledged that threats were made before the event began and had already arranged for increased security. The sponsors posted a notice to that effect on the event website several days ago.

"We would like to make everyone aware that the Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation has received a letter threatening bodily harm to attendants of this event," the event website read. "With this in mind security has been increased, and we ask that everyone work with us for a safe and enjoyable event. Please pardon the inconvenience as you may experience increased security measures when enjoying the event."

After the incident with the device, Sunday’s activities were canceled.
