-Short Attention Span Theater-
'The Happening'
[The Rise of the West] For years I've been predicting it. With absolute confidence, I've been claiming that its arrival is a certainty. So why do I feel so surprised, and a trifle disoriented that it is now happening? What is "it"? It's The Happening. I didn't invent this expression. I heard a couple of people use it at the recent New York Forum. Perhaps "The Convergence" would be more appropriate. Perhaps I could even give in to my Heideggerian vice and call it The Event (Das Ereignis). But I like The Happening.

I think you already know what I mean, but let's make it explicit. For years I have been maintaining, along with others, that the truth cannot be suppressed forever, that the whole edifice of lies would eventually crack and the Establishment crumble, that our people would rise up, etc. I predicted that at a certain point we would see things begin to "tip" as more and more individuals spoke forbidden truths. This is now happening. The Washington Post recently published a breathless article (by a non-White reporter) about how the Brexit vote has "normalized racism," by making the British more open -- horrors! -- about expressing their desire to "get their country back."

Lengthy and thought provoking.

Rodrigo Duterte Calls U.S. Ambassador ‘Annoying,' ‘Homosexual,' ‘SOB'
[Breitbart] Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte, notorious for using profanity liberally towards others in politics, told an audience of soldiers Friday that his recent meeting with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry went well but that U.S. Ambassador Philip Goldberg was a "homosexual" "son of a bitch" who "really annoys me."

Duterte met with Kerry and Goldberg in late July to discuss the response to Manila winning an international court case against China at the Permanent Court of Arbitration at the Hague. Kerry, he told the audience Friday, is "okay, but I had an argument with their ambassador, that bakla [homosexual]. Son of a bitch, he really annoys me." There is no record of Goldberg publicly identifying as gay, indicating Duterte meant to use the word purely derisively.

Duterte’s feud with Goldberg began while the former was still a presidential candidate. Goldberg issued a condemnation of a joke Duterte made on the campaign trail, suggesting that the gang rape of a young woman in Davao City, where he served as mayor for 22 years, was only a tragedy because he himself did not get to have sex with her first. "Any statements by anyone, anywhere that either degrade women or trivialize issues so serious as rape or murder, are not ones that we condone," Goldberg said at the time.

Duterte responded then to Goldberg that he would sever all diplomatic ties with the United States if he became president in response to Goldberg’s condemnation, and that he would give the United States "a shit" if Goldberg did not "shut your mouth." The rape remark landed Duterte in international news headlines and cemented his reputation abroad as loose-lipped and little concerned with maintaining a proper image.

Arabia
Why does ISIS recruit Filipina housemaids for their attacks?
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Kuwait’s arrest of a Filipina maid on the accusation of belonging to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has brought back the controversy about the tricks and approaches adopted by the myrmidon organization to recruit maids.

ISIS exploits the maids’ economic, legal and social status, tricks them and communicates with them to later use them in violent operations.

Kuwait said on Friday it tossed in the slammer
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
a Filipina, Linavi Ozoilo, whom it accused of joining the ISIS group through its affiliate in Libya and who planned to launch an attack. Authorities said she "confessed she was ready to carry out any terrorist attack once circumstances and means were ripe in order to undermine security and stability in Kuwait."

Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
witnessed a similar case in October 2015, when Saudi security forces arrested a Filipina maid identified as Gioi Aban Bali Nang. She was in charge of sewing and preparing boom belts after being recruited for the organization by an ISIS member called Yasser Mohammed al-Barazi.

Hmoud al-Thayadi, a researcher on terrorism, told Al Arabiya that ISIS tries to diversify its tactics when attracting elements - particularly housemaids - that it recruits to serve its aims.

Similarities and differences
In the Saudi case, Gioi Aban Bali Nang was recruited by a cell inside Saudi Arabia, Thayadi explained, adding that the cell exploited the fact that she had beat feet from her sponsor to recruit her.

In the Kuwaiti case, the housemaid was recruited by the group from outside Kuwait and this is worthy of attention, Thayadi said as her husband was attracted to the group before she arrived in Kuwait and therefore she was also influenced by her husband who went to fight with ISIS in Libya.

Thayadi said ISIS works on exploiting people who have certain circumstances, recruits them and then uses them by providing ideological justifications.

He noted that the danger here lies in the fact that it cannot be predicted who the elements to be recruited will be.

"The organization exploits gaps and weaknesses in society. It does not mind to employ any element that it believes will be of gain to it," Thayadi said.

Instinctive dimensions
According to Thayadi, the role of these elements is often related to logistics. For instance, Lady Joy sewed boom belts while Linavi Ozoilo was taking photos of sites which the organization wanted to target.

Thayadi said that most of the time, such members do not stay for long in the organization as the latter quickly assigns a mission to them; hence, this calls for social awareness to be able to identify them.

He added that ISIS’ exploitation of weaknesses and gaps in society calls on the latter to be more attentive to any violations which housemaids may commit and also calls on closely monitoring teenagers and resolving any social problems they confront.

He added that ISIS depends on two instinctive aspects, the sexual and the brutal one. The former depends on the idea of slaves and facilitating sexual practices and it’s used to attract young men while the latter depends on violence and the desire to practice it in its worst forms.

Terror Networks
Islamist Jihadists Continue To Wage Deadly Campaign Of Violence
[Homeland Security Today] Islamist jihadi "operatives deployed posing as refugees and radicalized refugees have conducted attacks inside Europe, [and] ISIS’s unprecedented social media capabilities and propaganda are also accelerating its ability to inspire global audiences," according to the August Terror Threat Snapshot released by House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul (R-Texas).

The "snapshot" is a monthly committee assessment of the growing threat America, the West and the world face from ISIS and other Islamist terrorists.

The latest "Terror Snapshot" also stated that:

Islamist terrorists have waged a deadly campaign of violence, particularly in Europe where ISIS-linked terrorists launched four separate attacks over a two-week period in July. ISIS supporters in France killed a priest in Normandy and dozens of people celebrating Bastille Day in Nice; in Germany, they conducted two separate attacks. These strikes in Europe followed what was the deadliest post-9/11 Islamist terror attack on American soil in June;

ISIS and Al Qaeda continue to operate in safe havens that can serve as launching pads for external operations. ISIS’s unprecedented social media capabilities and propaganda are also accelerating its ability to inspire global audiences;
The Obama administration has continued to transfer Guantanamo Bay detainees overseas despite an alarming recidivism rate among former detainees. Less than 80 detainees remain at the terror detention facility; around a third of them have reportedly been cleared for transfer; and

The Iranian regime continues to host senior al Qaeda members in Iran. Several Al Qaeda members involved in financial and weapons transfers are actively operating inside Iran.

"The recent ISIS attacks in France and Germany and the arrests of nine ISIS-linked individuals inside the US this past month underscore the acute threat we face from radical Islamist terrorists," McCaul said, nothing, "These jihadists have set deep roots in key sanctuaries across the Middle East, South Asia, and North Africa, while extending their deadly reach across the globe using their operatives and supporters. Our enemies ‐ whether ISIS, Al Qaeda, or the world’s primary state sponsor of terror in Iran ‐ have clearly capitalized on several years of failed policies and passivity. Reversing this disastrous course is an urgent national security imperative for the United States and our allies."

Admiral James A. Lyons: More than incompetence in Benghazi
BLUF: [Wash Times] If it were just a dereliction of duty or incompetence, it would not justify the massive cover-up by the Obama administration, which continues to this day. I believe the only justification for the massive cover-up was that Stevens was to be kidnapped and held hostage in exchange for the release of the "Blind Sheikh."

Author: James A. Lyons, a retired U.S. Navy admiral, was commander in chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet and senior U.S. military representative to the United Nations.

#2  Now that is a new theory that I haven't heard before.

So the AQ/ISIS want the blind sheikh back? That's enough reason to keep him in prison and shows why we tried him and found him guilty. But lets wait on that, youknowwho will probably give him a pardon and a plane ticket as a gesture of good will...and hope that ISIS will finally like us.

#3  Read "13 Hours" about a week ago and read nothing that gave any indication of reaction to a video or protests turned violent. The attack on the Diplomatic compound (not even a consulate apparently) showed the DSS reliance on unarmed contract Libyan security on the night of 9/11 anniversary to be very lax attitude given the prior threat environment. 5 DSS agents essentially indoors and only one monitoring in their security building. But, the first attack seemed a mix of an initial entry team of undetermined size and then pickup additions from proximate locals. The CIA compound QRF made up of the contract personnel was delayed repeatedly, and while the initial delay was understandable given it was the bulk of the security force for the CIA site with over 30 personnel, a SCIF and unknown other valued assets. But the subsequent delay was clearly driven by Langley and either chain of command delays/cross agency commo, or concerns about additional threats. IN any event, the delay almost certainly contributed directly to the deaths of Stevens and Smith. The eventual QRF action was finally covered by a ISR drone flown to the site and in orbit, and one wonders what intel about locals that provided. But, later attacks on the CIA compound were far more organized, and for me most telling, the accuracy of the indirect fires, the sounds reported clearly matching not RPG but the unique chunking sound of mortar tube indirect fires and TOT delays. They bracketed the target building in three rounds as I recall, meaning pre-registration by people who knew their weapon system very very well. That part was not amateurish, making me wonder what element of professional military was supporting the irregulars conducting the sloppy wave attacks? Spetznaz element providing C&C and indirect to local factions?

I believe it was common knowledge at the time that the Iranian Kuds were in town. It would have been in the Iranian and Russian interest to disrupt or intercept any potential shipment of arms to anti-Assad rebel forces.

#7  Spetznaz?

More likely than not although I am not sure if the Russians had a dog in the fight yet.

On the other hand, during the six months I was in Tripoli, Libya, I frequented a coffee shop that often had big lumpy guys with thick necks and spoke Arabic with a decidedly Eastern European accent. Finally one night I tried a trick and said "Dobra Otra" to one of them and he answered in Russian before he caught himself...yeah I made sure I didn't go back there for a while. And when I mentioned it at the Embassy at a party for the new ambassador, the head of security gave me this Captain Obvious look like "so what else is new."

Yep Libya is and has been stiff with Russians, I don't know if it is the oil or the need to keep track of potential US BS from the administration.
