At Least Eight Reasons Why The Talk Of North Korea Leveling Seoul Is Simply Wrong

#1  Well thought out and presented piece.

#2  Yes, quite excellent indeed. Provides some needed perspective to the myth that millions living in and around Seoul will die from North Korean artillery.

I suspect we'll see some Nork 'ranging' (bracketing or as the press is saying 'envelope with multiple rockets') in the waters off Guam in the coming weeks. Not certain if that will trigger a U.S. response, but it very likely will.

#3  I don't think Trump is going to draw some imaginary line only to be ignored as was the case with "O." He won't screw around with fatboy--he will end the problem that has festered for a long time. Fatboy does not seem to display any military genius. He is more like a spoiled 10 year boy with a bunch of military toys for his use.

#4  If the decapitation strike works and kills youth leader and the people around him, there is a good chance that the nkor artillery will not fire.

#5  How come we don't see headlines about Sork dignitaries coming to Israel to buy Iron Dome?
Posted by: g(r)omgoru || 08/10/2017 10:39 Comments || Top||

#6  A nice piece, well written, and it assumes that the NKors will use a conventional attack with conventional HE warheads. The Allies stopped the Germans cold in May 1940 by the exact same reasoning...
Posted by: magpie || 08/10/2017 10:49 Comments || Top||

#7  IMO Kim is actually acting rationally. His economy is non-existent and his previous threats got him 'deals' from the US, so he expects threats to succeed again (and he knows China is ok with it, for now.) Would he actually USE nukes ? I doubt it, but if he is convinced we would not retaliate in kind he just might, if he thought it would get him some goodies. Trump is just putting some doubt in his mind.

#8  This about playing chicken between a Kawasaki motorcycle and a Peterbilt 18 wheeler. At some point the little shit will realize that this truck driver won't swerve. The language of confrontation may shock the snowflakes at the NYSlimes but Chubby gets it, he just can't believe it, yet!
Posted by: NoMoreBS || 08/10/2017 11:32 Comments || Top||

#9  Glenmore is right. This is about extortion. It worked in the past, and he reasons it will continue to work. Just need to rachet up the threats and the goodies will come.

Like a perverse Cargo Cult.

#10  If it comes to blows, look for China to move first. Kim will commit "suicide", China will "volunteer" to help "stabilize" the situation. A people's committee or something will take over. They'll renounce nukes ... for now.

The NoKos are crazy enough to fight. China is not prepared to let that happen. Lucky for me too, because I'm looking to buy some flash drives in the coming months. Wouldn't do to have Samsung bombed.

#11  Except, China might be curious what can be expected of USA nowadays.
Posted by: g(r)omgoru || 08/10/2017 17:06 Comments || Top||

#12  Well written and nicely done. Some broad assumptions from the author. This is a total war perspective. An all at Soul or nothing. Firing on Seoul will cause mass panic. I have heard they can house millions in bomb shelters. So now the panic starts. It wont take much to bring the city to complete ineffectiveness. I do agree that the millions casualty reports are propaganda. But dropping any 155 rounds into urban areas will cause fairly large casualty rates. I'm all for sending in the Buffs to clear out their arty. Send in the rocket to clear out the missile bases, nuke missile compounds, the military HQ and comms/ada, and to remove Kimmi from the face of this earth. From there the Russians and Chinese can fight over whats left.

Alabama GOP Rep Called His Voters 'Uninformed' - 'They Don't Know the Truth' (Video)
[PJ] On a talk radio program out of Huntsville, Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) tried to dodge a question about an attack ad running against him that claims he was a never-Trumper. But instead of simply denying that he was a never-Trumper, he thought it best to bash his constituents. He said, "A lot of people are relatively uninformed, they don't know the truth, they are easy to deceive." That's usually not the kind of rhetoric you want to put out there about your own voters!

#2  "Alot of people are relatively uninformed, they don't know the truth, they are easy to deceive."

Meanwhile, the MSM basically agreed with Mo's statement and continued to put out their propaganda and disinformation.

#3  The election of Obama (twice!) proves he was correct: "A lot of people are relatively uninformed, they don't know the truth, they are easy to deceive."

#4  Isn't part of his job to do the informing, say, at town halls and when he's on the radio?

#5  Recall the following comments. We know what these self-styled aristocrats think of we deplorables and unredeemables.

What Jonathan Gruber — the “architect” of Obamacare – said:

“Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage,” Gruber said. “And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical for the thing to pass.”

Wikileaks email Bill Ivey to John Podesta dated 2016-03-13

Secretary Clinton is not an entertainer, and not a celebrity in the Trump, Kardashian mold; what can she do to offset this? I'm certain the poll-directed insiders are sure things will default to policy as soon as the conventions are over, but I think not. And as I've mentioned, we've all been quite content to demean government, drop civics and in general conspire to produce an unaware and compliant citizenry. The unawareness remains strong but compliance is obviously fading rapidly. This problem demands some serious, serious thinking - and not just poll driven, demographically-inspired messaging.

Thomas Sowell Perfectly Predicted How The Left Will Defend Affirmative Action
[Daily Wire] The Trump Justice Department recently announced to its civil rights division through an internal memo that it would begin "investigations and possible litigation related to intentional race-based discrimination in college and university admissions." The Left responded by shamelessly insisting that Attorney General Jeff Sessions wanted to promote the enshrinement of white nationalism in admissions processes.

Kristen Clarke, the president of the liberal Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, insisted even challenging the notion of Affirmative Action "could invite a lot of chaos and unnecessarily create hysteria among colleges and universities who may fear that the government may come down on them for their efforts to maintain diversity on their campuses."

I cannot help but reflect on these wise words from Thomas Sowell: "Some things are believed because they are demonstrably true, but many other things are believed simply because they have been asserted repeatedly."

The black Hoover Institution economist has spent years proving the vitriolic language and policies of the Left have disproportionately hurt minorities’ socioeconomic wellbeing across the country and around the globe.

Now the DOJ has challenged Affirmative Action due to empirical evidence proving it damages majority and minority groups alike. One recent Princeton University study revealed that Affirmative Action policies gave black students a bonus of 230 points on SAT scores based on the 1600 scale. Meanwhile, Asian applicants were penalized 50 points. Despite the facts, the Left is in a panic.

Clarke argues that the Civil Rights Division was "created and launched to deal with the unique problem of discrimination faced by our nation’s most oppressed minority groups," revealing that the leftist concept of "intersectionality" has crept into institutions obligated to protect the civil rights of all peoples. Yet, it is proven affirmative action disproportionately affects Asian and Jewish communities.

#1  If Trump or Sessions cannot fire these asswipes in the 'Civil Rights' Division, why can't they be reassigned elsewhere, like downtown Milwaukee?

I'd be OK with that if they would settle for cutting off their own tails and leave the rest of us the hell alone.

#6  So stopping discrimination based on race is white nationalism?

Is this an admission of demparty black nationalism?
Posted by: Bright Pebbles || 08/10/2017 7:11 Comments || Top||

#7  Is this an admission of demparty black nationalism?

No, BP, it is an admission of demparty racism of the lowered expectations kind. To dems blacks are basically incapable of succeeding without their (the lefts) benevolence.
Posted by: AlanC || 08/10/2017 8:37 Comments || Top||

#8  #1 why can't they be reassigned elsewhere, like downtown Milwaukee? Or the South side of Chicago? We don't want to discriminate. We've got a lot of Dem lefty-created parasites in this country (sarc).

#9  We've got a lot of Dem lefty-created parasites in this country....

'Dem parasite'.... only slightly redundant.
Posted by: Besoeker || 08/10/2017 8:58 Comments || Top||

#10  I could swear I typed "Dem lefty-created paradise." My spell-checker must have just corrected it. None-the-less, the two words are redundant in this context.

#11  Another SCOTUS debacle when a 'temporary' measure to address past wrongs becomes multi-generational SOP. They knew it was in direct contradiction to the 14th Amendment, but suspended it 'temporarily'. Now its an entitlement standing against the written law.

#13  why can't they be reassigned elsewhere, like downtown Milwaukee?

Parts of downtown Milwaukee are quite nice....during the daytime.

Then there's the serious rise in carjacking at controlled intersections near the freeway entrances. Local LibRag newspapers don't report on that much, though.
