gotta luv surprizes
DANVILLE, Pa. - Geisinger Medical Center has settled a lawsuit filed by a woman who alleged that a surgeon left a 4-inch metal instrument in her uterus. The lawsuit filed in Montour County Court alleged that Dr. Samuel Owusu operated on Lori Klinger, now 35, in November 2002. The suit alleged that two days after her surgery, the instrument - sharp on one end with a rubber bulb on the other - emerged from her vagina.
"Oh! There it is! I was wondering where that got to!"
Hospital officials disputed Klinger's account of the instrument, saying that it was a "small, blunt, rubber-like, screw-on tip of a medical instrument." The hospital also contended that the instrument was not left in Klinger's uterus but that it became dislodged in her vagina. Lori Klinger on Thursday said she stands by her account. Neither she nor Geisinger officials would comment about the financial details of the settlement. Klinger, of Fernville, had sued on seven counts for a possible total of $350,000.

Oh, well. In that case...

#3  "Ahh, damn! I lost my vibe-rator tip inside. Whatta do? Whatta do? Hey, it may vaguely look like a 'medical instrument'! Let's sue!"

#4  As the joke goes: On his day off, the ob/gyn walpapered his living room through the mail slot on his front door.

#5  Did he finally go in for a sex change operation? He's got to be getting pretty old; Korea was 50 years ago.

#6  Reminds me of the time my wife had a hysterectomy, oophorectomy and tube removal and the doc left an ovary behind. "Hmm, it's been six months and still no menopause. That's odd." One CAT scan later: not only did they forget the ovary, but it now has a golf ball sized cyst on it. Morons. By the way, is that Coke or Pepsi in that pic?

Kuwait tickets veiled women drivers
Some 155 female motorists have been issued citations over the last two days for wearing veils while driving, say sources. On Tuesday, under the instructions of Assistant Undersecretary for Supportive Security Services at the Interior Ministry Maj. General Thabet Al-Muhanna said the General Traffic Department activated a traffic law, passed in 1984, which bans veiled women from driving. Sources said Director of the General Traffic Department Brigadier Suleiman Al-Muhailan decided to activate the law to prevent terrorists from escaping security check points by wearing veils. "Traffic patrols have intensified their campaign in the implementation of the law resulting in the issuance of citations to 155 female motorists within two days," they added.
I wonder how many veiled gentleman drivers they've stopped to date...

#2  Heh, Pappy, this reminds me of the traffic safety study that the Saudis commissioned some years back to find out why their accident rate was so high. The conclusion, written by bona-fide Western professionals, was that the kaffiyeh headgear cuts their field of view so dramatically. Doh! And on top of that they're just damned shitty drivers with no regard for traffic laws and almost no understanding of basic physics to boot, heh. Double Doh!

#3  As a chase car security driver/PSD I've driven many a frantic mile (kilometer?) stuck to the rear end of a a hard car in Kuwait, and the traffic (Especially in the 2 lane crop traffic circles)borders on madness. For a person to drive without his/her full faculties would be nucking futs. It's as if you are engaged in a video game of chicken with the other drivers at 120 kmh. After a 45 minute drive from HQ to the Ministry of Defence, the hard car driver is cool as a cucumber, but the chase car driver/PS3 is soaked with sweat from the intensity of the mission.

#4  It can be like that in Israel, too. I drove there for a couple of weeks while on business years ago. 3 land highways: north, south and chicken lane.

#5  Ah, .com - don't forget the traffic rotaries, where one enters driving with the left hand on the wheel, and the right hand pressing the horn.

After one trip from the RSN base to a hotel and back, I was ready to go back to the minefields for my own safety.

#6  Sounds like Rome: three-lane street, five lanes of traffic. And the bus drivers are crazy! Give me Frankfurt at rush hour any day!
