Texas elections official says ‘human error' likely behind ballot confusion
Get it on video and we'll have something to talk about.
Early voting has started in many states, and some conservative websites are already trafficking in conspiracy theories that the election is being decided unfairly.

On Tuesday, the Drudge Report promoted a story from conspiracy theorist Alex Jones' Info Wars website, which had posted a summary of Facebook posts written by two different women in Texas.

One woman, Lisa Houlette of Canyon, Texas, wrote on Facebook that she thought she had voted for Donald Trump, only to see on the summary page before she cast her ballot that Democrat Hillary Clinton’s name was checked. Houlette could not figure out how to change that vote, and so she requested help from an elections official to fix the mistake.

"I voted a straight Republican ticket and as I scrolled to submit my ballot I noticed that the Republican straight ticket was highlighted, however, the Clinton/Kaine box was also highlighted!" Houlette wrote. "I tried to go back and change and could not get it to work."

But a local elections official told Yahoo News that there was little reason to be alarmed. Shannon Lackey, the elections coordinator for Randall County, said the county’s Hart Voting System was 10 years old but is "working exactly as it was designed to do."

"It undergoes rigorous testing," she said. "It is state and federal certified."

"I believe 100 percent in our equipment. I have done this for 10 years. I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t believe in it," Lackey said. "Every person that works in this office has had a background check. It is done in a room that does not have Internet ports."

Lackey said Houlette, the voter, likely hit a button she did not intend.

"I don’t believe there was any malicious intent on anyone’s part, the voter or ours. I think it was human error," Lackey said.

Lackey is an appointed official. She is appointed by an election commission comprised of a county judge, the county clerk, the county tax assessor, and the chairmen of the county Democratic and Republican Parties. She did not vote in a primary election this spring because she did not want to be accused of favoring one party over another, she said.

"With this election in particular there’s been talk about so-called rigging before it even happened. So everybody is on a heightened sense of alarm. Especially in the election world, perception becomes reality and anything that gets reported on Facebook has an ability to take on a life form of its own, and that’s what happened," Lackey said. "I truly believe this voter was trying to make sure her friends checked their vote."

Indeed, Houlette wrote on her Facebook page that anyone reading should "be careful and double check your selections before you cast your vote! Don’t hesitate to ask for help."

Yahoo News has asked Houlette for comment.

Republican nominee Donald Trump, trailing in the polls, has repeatedly attacked the U.S. election system as "rigged," while alleging widespread voter fraud -- and without providing any evidence for such a claim. No evidence of widespread fraud or voting-machine malfunction in modern elections has been found.

#4  Which is why most countries still use paper ballots.

Far too easy for one person who understands the system to rig an electronic system, because there is no way of detecting insider fraud without a paper trail or other means of reconciliation.

Obama steers clear as North Dakota pipeline protests veer out of control
[Wash Times] Having lent support to the North Dakota pipeline protesters, the Obama administration is stiff-arming requests for more federal assistance as the situation on the ground at the massive encampment grows increasingly volatile.

Six states sent law enforcement support to the Dakota Access pipeline site after several law enforcement officers were hurt in last weekend’s clashes that saw 127 arrests, the shooting of a drone that buzzed a helicopter and the use of pepper spray against protesters who charged a police line.

Even so, the Justice Department said it has no plans to provide more resources. So far the agency has provided mediators to "facilitate communication, defuse tensions, support peaceful protests and maintain public safety," said spokesman Wyn Hornbuckle.

"The department has also offered technical assistance and community policing resources to local law enforcement in support of these goals," said Mr. Hornbuckle in a statement, adding that the agency is "taking the situation in North Dakota seriously."

He also reiterated the Obama administration’s request for Energy Transfer Partners to stop work voluntarily on the pipeline project, which the company has declined to do, in order for the Army Corps of Engineers to review issues raised by the Standing Rock Sioux tribe.
Con't.

Texas County Switches to Paper Ballots after Software Glitch
[BREITBART] Chambers County election officials have executed an emergency protocol to remove all electronic voting machines available during early voting until a software update can be completed to correct problems experienced by straight-ticket voters.

Chambers County Clerk Heather Hawthorne told Breitbart Texas Tuesday morning that all electronic voting was temporarily halted until her office completes a "software update" on ES&S machines that otherwise "omit one race" when a straight ticket option is selected for either major party. The Texas 14th Court of Appeals race was reported to be the contest in which voters commonly experienced the glitch.

Hawthorne explained that she expects the technical difficulties to be completely addressed by end of business Tuesday. In the interim, regular paper ballots will be used. The county clerk told Breitbart Texas that before the machines were pulled, poll workers were instructed to alert voters to the glitch and double-check their selections.

Chambers County sits east of Texas’ largest county, Harris, and serves roughly 26,000 registered voters. Hawthorne noted that since polls opened on Monday, only one voter did not have proper photo identification and was required to complete an affidavit to cast a regular ballot. Breitbart Texas recently reported a similar trend in neighboring Harris County where less than 10 out of more than 67,000 ballots cast lacked ID.

Votes Switched From Trump To Hillary In Texas
[INFOWARS] Residents of at least two cities in Texas are complaining that they voted for Donald Trump only to see the voting machine switch their ballot to Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as Deplorable, Irredeemable and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Edward Stettinius, Jr. ...
Early voting for the 2016 presidential election started yesterday for people in some areas who have been given the opportunity to avoid the long lines on November 8.

However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
in Amarillo, a woman was shocked to see her ballot flip from Republican to Democrat.

"Gary and I went to early vote today," wrote Lisa Houlette on Facebook. "I voted a straight Republican ticket and as I scrolled to submit my ballot I noticed that the Republican straight ticket was highlighted, however, the Clinton/Kaine box was also highlighted!"

"I tried to go back and change and could not get it to work. I asked for help from one of the workers and she couldn’t get it to go back either. It took a second election person to get the machine to where I could correct the vote to a straight ticket," she added.

Meanwhile,
...back at the revival hall, the congregants were being herded into the paddy wagon...
in Arlington, Texas, another voter reported a similar experience.

"I had a family member that voted this morning and she voted straight Republican," wrote Shandy Clark. "She checked before she submitted and the vote had changed to Clinton! She reported it and made sure her vote was changed back. They commented that It had been happening."

Social media forums are also ablaze with concerns about votes being switched.

"Multiple reports on my Facebook, Periscope, Snapchat, and Twitter from my friends in Texas, and all of them had their vote switched to Clinton automatically," one post on The Donald Reddit is headlined.

Colin Powell to vote for greedy candidate whose husband is still probably "d*cking bimbos"
(CNN) Former Republican Secretary of State Colin Powell said Tuesday he'll vote for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, a high-profile snub of his party's standard-bearer, Donald Trump.
His party? As I recall, he voted for Barack Obama twice.
Powell, who also served in the Reagan and George H.W. Bush administrations, backed President Barack Obama in both the 2008 and 2012 campaigns.
Ask, and ye shall be answered. ;-)
He announced his plan to a Long Island group during a luncheon. The announcement was confirmed by Powell's chief of staff, Peggy Cifrino.
He's retired, I thought. Why on earth does he need a staff with a chief to boss it?
Aides informed Clinton of Powell's support after her early voting rally Tuesday afternoon in Florida. She is grateful for his support, one aide said.

Later, Clinton's campaign tweeted, "Proud to have the endorsement of General Powell, a decorated soldier and distinguished statesman," signed with an "H" indicating her personal approval.
I'll believe it when WikiLeaks releases it.

#4  First became aware of Powell during Gulf War 1. Saw him as a bureaucrat and little more. Lost respect when he voted for 'O' in '08 (amongst other things).

Was impressed then by Gen. Schwarzkopf and really took him to heart when he asked a stupid reporter, who was commenting on the seeming lack of Iraqi strategic defenses with the drive into Kuwait, "Ever been in a mine field?"

His passing in 2012 was a great loss.

HRC Campaign Chair Had Multiple Dinners With Top DOJ Official During HRC Email Investigation
[Daily Caller] The day after Hillary Clinton testified in front of the House Select Committee on Benghazi last October, John Podesta, the Democrat’s campaign chairman, met for dinner with a small group of well-connected friends, including Peter Kadzik, a top official at the Justice Department.

The dinner arrangement, revealed in hacked Podesta emails released by Wikileaks, is just the latest example of an apparent conflict of interest between the Clinton campaign and the federal agency charged with investigating the former secretary of state’s email practices.

Podesta and Kadzik, the assistant attorney general for legislative affairs, were in frequent contact, other emails show. In one email from January, Kadzik and Podesta, who were classmates at Georgetown Law School in the 1970s, discussed plans to celebrate Podesta’s birthday. And in another sent last May, Kadzik’s son emailed Podesta asking for a job on the Clinton campaign.

The post-Benghazi dinner was attended by Podesta, Kadzik, super lobbyist Vincent Roberti and other well-placed Beltway fixtures.

The exchanges are another example of the Clinton campaign’s "cozy relationship" with the Obama Justice Department, one former U.S. Attorney tells The Daily Caller.

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Will mushroom clouds turn Ohio voters away from Donald Trump?
A new TV ad evoking one of the most famous political ads in U.S. history is painting Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump as too dangerous to be commander-in-chief. And it's not subtle about it.

The spot from the Fifty Second Street Fund, a newly formed super PAC targeting Ohio voters, features footage of an atomic bomb detonating.
Reminiscent of the once-broadcast "Daisy" ad.

#2  At this point, I'd consider a president willing to use our power in our defense to be a feature, not a bug.

#3  Thought Bill Bradley(D) got out of politics back in the 1980s because this NJ pol got discouraged with the political process? So this former basketball player is a Hillary supporter?

I recall another time (1964) when the specter of nuclear war was brought up during the Lyndon Johnson (D) campaign. Johnson's campaign showed a nuclear explosion mushroom cloud and linked Barry Goldwater's (R) name and campaign with the threat of nuclear war. Goldwater was painted as a loose cannon. Turns out that Johnson pushed the Vietnam War based on the false narrative of the Gulf of Tonkin attack by Vietnam. IMO that the most likely candidate to take us into a very serious war is Hillary Clinton, the "We came, We saw, He Died [referring to Libya's Qaddafi]" former SoS and POTUS candidate.

SURVEY: Two-thirds of doctors see Hillary ‘abnormal eye movements'
Concerns about Hillary Clinton's health have been subdued after her three debate performances. She presented her ability to survive 4-and-a-half hours on a stage with Donald Trump as proof of sufficient stamina to serve as commander-in-chief.

"She evidently intended this as a joke, although I suspect our combat veterans would not be amused," states AAPS executive director Jane Orient, M.D.

Videos are, however, circulating on the internet, from her rather brief and rare appearances in public, which are purported to show pathological eye movements.

"These are quick, episodic, and inconsistent," states Dr. Orient, who is an internist. "So we decided to ask doctors on our email list to have a look at one of the videos. A helpful tool is to paste the URL into RowVid.com and watch it at half or quarter speed."

Nearly two-thirds of respondents said they saw abnormal movements. Only 15% did not, and 21% were unsure. There are long segments in which the eye movements appear normal.

About 60% of those who saw abnormal movements thought "the cause could be a potentially disabling neurological condition," and none of them were willing to say that it isn't.

Such movements signify an abnormality in portions of the brain that coordinate the eye muscles. There is a long differential diagnosis.

Possibilities the respondents suggested include increased intracranial pressure (she is at risk for that because of her history of head trauma and a transverse sinus clot); a drug effect; or a chronic degenerative neurological condition.

Posted by: Besoeker || 10/26/2016 3:17 Comments || Top||

#2  Possibilities the respondents suggested include increased intracranial pressure

"Increased intracranial pressure (ICP) is a rise in pressure around your brain. It may be due to an increase in the amount of fluid surrounding your brain. For example, there may be an increased amount of the cerebrospinal fluid that naturally cushions your brain or an increase in blood in the brain due to an injury or a ruptured tumor.

Increased ICP can also mean that your brain tissue itself is swelling, either from injury or from an illness such as meningitis. Increased ICP can be the result of a brain injury. Alternately, it can cause a brain injury.

Increased ICP is a life-threatening condition. A person showing symptoms of increased ICP must get emergency medical help right away."

Therefore, people are actually voting for either Kaine or Trump.

Hillary Clinton Tops 2015-16 Islamist Money List
"PHILADELPHIA ‐ Oct. 20, 2016 ‐ The Middle East Forum's "Islamist Money in Politics" (IMIP) project has revealed the top ten recipients of 2015-16 campaign contributions from individuals who subscribe to the same Islamic supremacism as Khomeini, Bin Laden, and ISIS.

Hillary Clinton tops the list, raking in $41,165 from prominent Islamists. This includes $19,249 from senior officials of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), declared a terrorist organization by the United Arab Emirates on November 15, 2014.

For example, Mrs. Clinton has accepted $3,900 from former CAIR vice-chairman Ahmad Al-Akhras, who has defended numerous Islamists in Ohio indicted ‐ and later convicted ‐ on terrorism charges.

Among other current presidential candidates, Jill Stein has accepted $250. Donald Trump and Gary Johnson have not received any Islamist money."

[POLITICO] The Service Employees International Union Florida and an array of community groups announced Tuesday they plan to spend more than $500,000 and radio and online ads targeting Latino millennials, African-American and Haitian-American voters in Florida.

The ads are designed to encourage these groups -- some 4 million people -- to get out and vote in the nation's biggest battleground state. SEIU Florida and the other groups have spent months going door-to-door contacting minority voters all over the state.

"Our campaign intends to educate the voter that their votes are directly related to how the policies and practices are crafted at local and federal level," said Alphonso Mayfield, SEIU’s State Director for the 2016 Election Campaign.

He said the major campaigns are too "focused on parties and candidates," instead "of the real issues that impact our communities." Among the issues: a minimum wage increase, access to affordable healthcare and education, and immigration reform.

The $510,000 ad buy is timed with the kickoff of early in-person voting in Florida, which began Monday in most of the state. The ads will begin running today and will air in the following counties: Miami Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Hillsborough, Pinellas, Orange, Osceola, Pensacola, Leon and Duval counties. The digital ads will appear on the music website Pandora.

As of Tuesday morning, more than 1.6 million Floridians had already cast pre-Election Day ballots. About 665,000, or 42 percent, were made by Florida Republicans and 658,000, or 41 percent were made by Democrats. The rest were either third-party voters or No Party Affiliation voters.

Hillary routinely bullied her bodyguards
[NATIONALREVIEW] Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as America's Blond Eminence and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Timothy Pickering ...
’s "treatment of DS [Department of State] agents on her protective detail was so contemptuous that many of them sought reassignment or employment elsewhere," according to a just-released summary of an FBI interview with a former State Department official.

“Prior to CLINTON’s tenure, being an agent on the Secretary of State’s protective detail was seen as an honor and privilege reserved for senior agents. However, by the end of CLINTON’s tenure, it was staffed largely with new agents because it was difficult to find senior agents willing to work for her.”

Clinton’s State Department agents are hardly the first to complain about her bullying.

“She derives pleasure from lording over other people who cannot do anything about it and who are less powerful than she is,” author Ronald Kessler told Newsmax TV’s J. D. Hayworth. In fact, Clinton’s well-documented history of profane, unhinged outbursts against those who work for her spans decades."
My wife used to work with a retired Secret Service agent in the late '90's, while Bill was still prez. He described her the same way then.

#1  What amazes me is that this woman eats with that same mouth. Hillary, Obama, Biden, Ksine, and Moochel are parading around accusing Trump of using foul language. Why, they even tell us we have to hide the children so they don't hear this kind of language. As I recall Biden was caught saying to Obama the following when the "Affordable" care act was shoved down our throats: "the vice president turned to the president and said, as he embraced Obama, "This is a big fucking deal." Moreover, Obama and Michelle recently invited to the White House some of the most thuggish, violent, foul-mouthed rappers/hip hopper artists(?) who preach misogymy and violence against the police. C'mon gimme a break from these phony, hypocritical bullshit artists who try to sell us their faux outraged indignation.

Is it not far worse that Hillary was FLOTUS/co-POTUS when the government of the Clintons and another corrupted attorney general (Janet Reno) killed the Branch Davidians (a splinter group of the 7th-Day Adventists) during the Waco Massacre after a 51-day siege where a total of 82 civilians, mostly women, children and the elderly–half of them people of color were murdered? Recall that a year earlier, the mother and child who were shot and killed at Ruby Ridge by FBI snipers? Another Clinton administration will not be the friend of American any more than it was during the first Clinton administration. The millennials and women (the I'm With Her crowd) who are likely to vote for Hillary probably do not know about these events. Do you think you would be treated any differently than the Branch Davidians or Randy Weaver at Ruby Ridge (Randy Weaver, a former Iowa factory worker and U.S. Army combat engineer, moved with his family to northern Idaho during the 1980s in order to "home-school his children and escape what he and his wife Vicki saw as a corrupted world." if it suited a Hillary administration? Do you feel lucky or special?

#3  You know, it only takes a second or two to look away when something nasty comes your way and the problem is settled.

Screwing with the Praetorian Guard doesn't have a good record of consequences for other rulers in history.

Then again 'good old' Marxist view of history seems stuck in the old industrial revolution period.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Why HRC plans for no-fly zones in Syria could provoke US-Russia conflict
[Guardian] Retired senior US military pilots are increasingly alarmed that Hillary Clinton's proposal for "no-fly zones" in Syria could lead to a military confrontation with Russia that could escalate to levels that were previously unthinkable in the post-cold war world.

The former strategists spoke to the Guardian as Clinton’s Republican rival Donald Trump warned that Clinton’s proposal to establish "safe zones" to protect beleaguered Syrian civilians would "lead to world war three".

The proposal of no-fly zones has been fiercely debated in Washington for the past five years, but has never attracted significant enthusiasm from the military because of the risk to pilots from Syrian air defenses and the presence of Russian warplanes.

Many in US national security circles consider the risk of an aerial confrontation with the Russians to be severe.
Con't.

#1  So she and pimp daddy Obama gave up on ousting Assad? Not only that but Assad's son Hafez Bashar al-Assad will one day rule Syria as well.

#2  Could?
Posted by: gorb || 10/26/2016 3:06 Comments || Top||

#3  ...An NFZ would probably have these phases:

1. USAF vs Russian AF, with a lopsided victory for us.

2. We lose a bird, the pilot bails out, and is captured by the Russians/Syrians/God Only Knows What Brand of Islamic Nutcase.

3. Humiliating negotiations until we get the pilot back.

4. We bug out while insisting it's still a victory.

5. Hillary focuses attention on the economy.

#4  I think
(i) you confuse American ruling "elites" attitudes toward Muslims and Russians, Kozlowski.
In their eyes Muslims are erring children - and everybody knows that you don't hit children, you gently but firmly explain.
Russians, who used to be their idols - but betrayed progressive ideas by getting rid of communism, ate evil incarnate (worse then you know who).

(ii) You don't appreciate how crazy Hillary (especially if she gets away with all her crimes by becoming POTUS) is.
Posted by: g(r)omgoru || 10/26/2016 9:20 Comments || Top||

#5  3. Humiliating negotiations until we get the pilot back.

Unless an ISIS crazy gets the pilot and beheads him/or her on a vid. Benghazi did not bode well for anyone who might get captured--However, IMO this was an Obama leading-from-behind-thing prior to an election. Hillary is not Obama with his endless line-in-the-sand B.S. IMO Hillary is a bit psycho about being macho about anyone who opposes her--look for a show of super-balls b.s. Look for "I am dangerous, do not f*ck with this womyn bravado."--Unmuzzled and all restraints off.
Posted by: JohnQC || 10/26/2016 10:30 Comments || Top||

#6  1. Hillary imposes no-fly zone.
2. Russians push into the no-fly zone by accident or to provoke.
3. Engagement leads to a plane going down.
4. Cyber-attacks take down the internet for days or weeks. Attacks are denial of service from DVRs and other internet of things.
5. Economy teeters in a scary way until Hillary pulls back forces and meekly apologizes.
6. Cyber-attacks suddenly stop.

That's the best case scenerio the way I see it.
Posted by: rjschwarz || 10/26/2016 10:42 Comments || Top||

#7  Yeah not could, already was floated and pulled back because it will.

There are a couple other players in this game, too, one of which already shot down a Russian plane.

The air-defense assets Russia pumped into Syria were there, rather quickly, to prevent a strike on Assad himself. Syria is going to want to have its own no-fly zone at whatever distance they feel protects Assad/vital targets. These two NFZs will overlap.

Remember, we were going to war, maybe without a vote from Congress, until Kerry's butthole fell out of his mouth with the 'If Syria removes all of its chemical weapons' mistake = our salvation.

And having a safe zone, if you will, next to a country you are trying to overthrow is classic insurgency wins condition - really think Team Assad is going to like that?

Forget about speculation on other events, Hillary promised de facto War on Russia on national television as a campaign goal. This is not loose cannon potential conflict theory, campaign promise.

Obamacare Architect: Obamacare Premium Increases Are ‘Going to Be Severe' For ‘A Million People'
[Breitbart] On Tuesday's broadcast of CNN's "The Lead," Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, one of the architects of Obamacare, stated that "There's a million people" for whom Obamacare premium increases are "going to be severe -- or uncomfortable."

Emanuel said that "most" Americans are not seeing 25% premium increases, because they get subsidies. He added, "[T]here are some relatively simple fixes. One is better social marketing to get young people in. Another is these risk corridors for the insurance companies, so that they can keep premiums lower. Another is to change...how much older people pay versus younger people, to decrease the cost for younger people overall. And the real ultimate test, Jake, is, can we keep healthcare costs low, and then insurance premiums don't have to go up. And, so far, the ACA has been doing a pretty good job keeping insurance premiums low, and we have to redouble those efforts."
When you hit the reef, go full power...I guess.
This is the utilitarian ethicist who admitted to lying to the public about this thing because it's important, and who continues to lie about it each time he opens his mouth. They must be getting worried.

Because we hide it in a 19 Trillion dollar (and growing) debt. Someone is paying for it, big time. Dear Millennials, you're screwed and you voted for it. IDK

#4  Millenials, please ask yourselves, do you really want an administration made up of arrogant insulting twits such as Jonathan Gruber and Rahm Emanuel's brother? Add "dangerous" to a Hillary administration. There never was going to be a free lunch? In fact, it was always going to be a very expensive lunch that was not affordable. The tip off should have been, "You can read the Act after it is passed." That was like the National Socialist German Workers' Party B.S. of the last century that led to WWII. Please act responsibly, read your history from now on if you have any love of your country--it is not all about YOU.

#6  Yea! I'm one in a million!

Except, >1million, even after agreeing with gorb.

What cracks me up is the line Hillary will preserve Obama's legacy. Peoples' asses are going to fall into their shoes over the next year with health insurance. Going to single pay will make Obamacare a failure, replaced with Hillarycare. What people call Obama's biggest plume will become a turkey feather in his ear.

The fine for not paying for the healthcare tax will increase, either by pen or Supreme Court, and the 'right for assisted suicide' will be implemented.
