Cory Booker Is Neither a ‘Truth-Teller' Nor a ‘Determined Purveyor of The Truth'
[Free Beacon] New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker (D.) described himself in a Friday interview at South By Southwest as a "determined purveyor of the truth," but a Washington Free Beacon analysis finds that Booker has a long history of getting caught straying from reality.

Booker, who was introduced by his interviewer as "the incredible Cory Booker," gave a speech to the crowd at the annual Austin tech conference, which will also hear from former Vice President Joe Biden over the weekend. His comment about being a "truth-teller," however, came during an interview for Facebook Live, which can be viewed below.

#1  Well, he's a Democrat. So there's that

#2  Booker reminds me of the old saying when a politician isn't speaking he is telling the truth.

#3  Three things not to be expected at SXSW in Austin:
(1) deep, thought out reasoning (college town lite describes it well)
(2) quality music (they never do quite manage)
(30 decent BBQ (or food in general)
You're better off driving about 50 miles in any direction, and then pull off and ask the locals.

'Los Angeles Times' Puzzled at Lack of Trump Hatred
[PJMEDIA]
And after millions of dollars were spent making Trump the issue on everything from land use decisions to fixing potholes, Angelenos stayed home. That could mean trouble for Democrats nationwide.... The question for Democrats: If these core groups in L.A. didn’t show up on Tuesday, will their counterparts elsewhere show up for the 2018 midterm?
Maybe that's also because Los Angeles is a one-state country, and California is a one-party state, whose voters are either very wealthy residents of coastal enclaves, and therefore protected from the consequences of their own votes, or the seething poor, many of them illegals, living east of Western Avenue. It's an unstable coalition at best, and one that will eventually collapse along with the blue-state model and its potholed roads, failing dams, trains to nowhere and lack of fresh water and arable land.
The middle class is in decline. And as it declines, so, it seems, does voting. That’s the story of Los Angeles, but perhaps it’s also the story of the Democratic Party.
If Democrats want voters to show up — and they’ve long argued that when more people show up, they win — they may have to prove to people who have less and less of an economic stake in our society that voting really matters. And to do that, they’re going to have to do more than remind everyone that Donald Trump is in the White House.
As the Democrats learned the hard way last November, however, showing up is not enough. As long as Democrats congregate in welfare states run by social-justice warriors, their larger effect on the country is nil. In effect, they've self-quarantined in a few states along the west coast, the upper midwest and the Bos-Wash corridor. The trick now is to keep them there.

#1  No wonder the left coast press hasn't a clue. Progressives tend to live in a closed-minded self-reinforcing delusional bubble. It will be vicious when that bubble collapses on them.

#2  The MSM has been lying to America since 1940's and the Clintons since 1970's; Trump never broke a promise, never raised my taxes, never.....

#3  ...Well, it's not like they know anyone who voted for him.

#4  Their bubble has been collapsing for some time now. Severe case of constipation or a turd that won't flush. This shall pass. Take away media propaganda and you will see the ugly naked truth. The progressive liberal at the end of life looks upon themselves in a mirror and sees the ugly truth of their counterfeit lives. The Dorian Gray experience.

#6  Tronc - the CHicago Trib conglomerate that owns the LAT rag bought our SD Union Trib. The spin in "news" and editorials is obvious. They can't seem to understand why their circulation is spiraling. The website started viewcount limits til they figured out people weren't gonna pay to read their shit

#7  Seems the voters could tell local election issues from national election issues despite deceptions and millions of dollars.

#8  Answer to LA Times:

#9  I wondered if this low turnout is consistent with previous elections, so I looked up the November election. According to KPCC:

The final tally is in: voter turnout improved from 2012 across much of Southern California this year.

The glaring exception? Los Angeles County and its 5.3 million registered voters. Turnout in the county came in at 67.5 percent of registered voters — the lowest showing in a presidential election in two decades.

Secretary of State Alex Padilla certified the state's votes Friday afternoon, closing the books on the 2016 California election and providing a look at voter engagement across the state.

As a whole, California posted a 75.3 percent turnout, with 14.6 million Californians casting a ballot.

Southern California presented a mixed picture. Among five Southern California counties, only Los Angeles saw turnout fall from 2012 to 2016. It dipped from 68 percent four years ago to 67.5 percent.

Blacks and Hispanics stayed home for Hillary, after slightly bestirring themselves for Obama?

And the Huffington post has been bemoaning low and falling LA voter turnout for local elections annually for some years -- it looks like it was less than 10% in March, 2015.

When it's clear that the only reason for elections is to decide which set of politicians will enrich themselves and their friends at voter expense while the potholes, gangs, and schools remain awful, how many will bother?

#10  But given that, according to the article which I've now read, turnout was under 12% this election, it has improved at least two percentage points since two years ago. This ought to be celebrated as an improvement, though I've not seen enough analysis to know if this is truly meaningful or merely normal variation around the average.

#11  Factor in all those in LA who aren't, can't (or won't) be, or don't consider themselves, residents.

#12  As leaders of the "Resistance," America's declining newspapers see their jobs as educating ignorant Americans about the dangers of That Man in the White House.

Except when the guy or gal in the WH is a Democrat.

#13  Except when the guy or gal in the WH is a Democrat.

And that JohnQC is why they lack even a shred of moral standing. As Abe said about not being able to fool all of the people all of the time ....

#14  O gie us, St. Andrew, the giftie:
Hispanics and hippies, spendthrifty,
Still helplessly lefty,
Unhealthily hefty,
A shiftless old 5150.

#15  Was anyone checking ID this go around? That could certainly depress the number of illegals and dead voting.
