ACLU tells court that Trump's travel ban is unconstitutional because Trump created it
[Washington Examiner] The Global An American Civil Liberties Union lawyer argued before a federal appeals court Monday that President Trump's travel ban should be ruled unconstitutional because the action was taken by Trump and not a different president.

The 4th Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Va., heard contentious oral arguments lasting more than two hours in a case involving a lower court order block of Trump's travel ban. Trump's revised executive order preventing some immigrants from entering the country came in early March as his earlier immigration ban was blocked by federal courts. The new order includes a provision that prevents the entry of foreign nationals from Muslim-majority countries Iran, Libya Somalia, Syria and Yemen for 90 days. A district court judge in Maryland blocked that provision March 15, and the federal government appealed the decision to the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Omar C. Jadwat, an American Civil Liberties Union senior staff attorney, argued that the revised ban should be deemed unconstitutional because of Trump's anti-Muslim comments while on the campaign trail and after the election.

Trump administration must release Clinton emails State Department tried to hide
[THEHILL] Judicial Watch recently announced that on March 20, 2017, U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson ordered the U.S. Department of State to release to Judicial Watch "eight identical paragraphs" of previously redacted material in two emails from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
... former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, sometimes described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as a crook...
’s unsecure email server dated Sept. 13, 2012.

The emails detail phone calls made by President B.O. to Egyptian and Libyan leaders immediately following the terrorist attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi. The emails have the subject line "Quick Summary of POTUS Calls to Presidents of Libya and Egypt" and were among the emails stored on Clinton’s non-government email server. Judge Jackson reviewed the documents in-camera and rejected the government’s contention that the records had been properly withheld under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) B(5) "deliberative process" exemption.

Judge Jackson ruled: "the two records, even if just barely predecisional, are not deliberative. [The State Department] has pointed to very little to support its characterization of these two records as deliberative, and the Court’s in camera review of the documents reveals that they do not fall within that category."

The full emails may reveal what former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President B.O. knew about the Sept. 11, 2012, terror attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi ‐ prior to Susan Rice’s contention that the Benghazi attack was a reaction to an anti-Moslem video on YouTube.

The bad news is that-- following close upon the heels of Judge Jackson’s March 20 ruling ‐ the State Department asked the court to reconsider. The State Department is arguing that, due to an internal "mistake," it failed to claim that the emails were classified and, therefore, should be exempt from production under FOIA Exemption B(1), which is reserved information related to national security.

Not surprisingly, Judicial Watch’s legal team went back to court to oppose this maneuver. Judicial Watch’s brief argues that the failure was not a mistake, but instead was unquestionably part of a deliberate effort by the State Department to protect Clinton and the agency by avoiding identifying emails on Clinton’s unofficial, non-secure email server as classified.

#2  Let me get this straight...State Department personnel claimed documents that prove Champ and Hildabeest were telling foreign leaders the truth about Benghazi in phone calls, but claimed the call summaries were deliberative, and when that ploy failed to protect the lies of Susan Rice and the Prez/SecState, suddenly remembered that they were classified? Who are these people and how do we get them fired ? They serve the democrat party, not the public, and should be revealed for the partisan functionaries they actually are!

#3  ...Interesting comment at Fox:

"The White House made the stunning announcement shortly after the FBI corrected a sentence in Comey's sworn testimony on Capitol Hill last week.

The director told lawmakers that Huma Abedin, when a top aide to Hillary Clinton at the State Department, had sent "hundreds and thousands" of emails to her husband's laptop, including some with classified information.

On Tuesday, the FBI said in a two-page letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee that only "a small number" of the thousands of emails found on the laptop had been forwarded there while most had simply been backed up from electronic devices."

Comey's actions for the last couple of years seem to indicate a desire to get off the merry go round before he pisses off somebody lethal. He's already testified, his minions have said what mistakes he's made, time to walk away and become either a federal judge or a lobbyist.

#14  I don't believe the firing is over. The odious FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is still employed. As far as Comey goes, his 'milking barn' sized ego may not allow him to overcome the firing.

US oligarchs have taken control of Trump’s foreign policy: Writer
[Iran Press TV] American oligarchs have taken control of the administration of US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
and put him at the service of the very foreign policy his voters wanted him to reject, says E. Michael Jones, a political analyst in Indiana.

Jones, a writer, former professor, media commentator and the current editor of the Culture Wars magazine, made the remarks in a phone interview with Press TV on Monday.

US Defense Secretary James Mattis said on Monday the United States is closely examining the four "de-escalation zones" proposed by Russia aimed at reducing violence in Syria.

In his first remarks on an agreement signed last week by Iran, Russia and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
in Kazakhstan, Mattis warned that the "devil is in the details" and that much was required to be worked out by the countries involved.

The deal to create the de-escalation zones in mainly Lion of Islams-held areas of the country calls for the cessation of hostilities between Lion of Islam groups and Syrian forces. Russia, Turkey and Iran are to act as guarantors for the agreement which took effect on Saturday.

Sanctuary city bans could spread to other states after Texas law signed
[FOXNEWS] A new Texas law cracking down on ’sanctuary cities’ could inspire other states to take a similar approach, even as the changes spur strong opposition from local Texas officials.

Republican Gov. Greg Abbott signed SB-4 into law in a Facebook Live event Sunday evening, effectively banning sanctuary city policies in Texas and giving law enforcement officers the right to ask the immigration status of anyone they stop. Under the law, officers who fail to comply, or cooperate, with federal immigration agents could face jail time and fines reaching $25,000 per day.

"I was proud last night to sign this law ... What it means is that no county, no city, no governmental body in the state of Texas can adopt any policy that provides sanctuary, and second, what it means, is that law enforcement officials, such as sheriffs, are going to be required to comply with ICE detainer requests," Abbott said on "Fox & Friends" on Monday.

#4  In two days there will be a ton of lawsuits claiming this is unconstitutional and violates the rights of "undocumented" immigrants.

And then some judge is gonna rule that it is indeed unconstitutional. That ruling will eventually be overturned by the SCOTUS but the delaying tactic will allow countless criminals to cross the border with impunity and cost the federal government millions of dollars in litigation.

EPA dismisses half of key board’s scientific advisers; Interior suspends more than 200 advisory panels
[WASHINGTONPOST] Both the Environmental Protection Agency and the Interior Department are overhauling a slew of outside advisory boards that inform how their agencies assess the science underpinning policies, the first step in a broader effort by Republicans to change the way the federal government evaluates the scientific basis for its regulations.

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt decided to replace half of the members on one of its key scientific review boards, while Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke is "reviewing the charter and charge" of more than 200 advisory boards, committees and other entities both within and outside his department. EPA and Interior officials began informing current members of the move Friday, and notifications continued over the weekend.

All of the people being dismissed were at the end of serving at least one three-year term.
Pruitt’s move could significantly change the makeup of the 18-member Board of Scientific Counselors (BOSC), which advises EPA’s prime scientific arm on whether the research it does has sufficient rigor and integrity, and addresses important scientific questions. All of the people being dismissed were at the end of serving at least one three-year term, although these terms are often renewed instead of terminated.

EPA front man J.P. Freire said in an email that "no one has been fired or terminated" and that Pruitt had simply decided to bring in fresh advisers. The agency informed the outside academics on Friday that their terms would not be renewed.

"We’re not going to rubber-stamp the last administration’s appointees. Instead, they should participate in the same open competitive process as the rest of the applicant pool," Freire said. "This approach is what was always intended for the board, and we’re making a clean break with the last administration’s approach."

#3  It looks like the Trump organization is baloney slicing the hold overs. They can't complain he did a purge since there about half of them left. At the same time conservative judges are being appointed down to the appellate level so they can't rely on cover from the courts. By the time the various executive branches are fully purged no one will care.
