Taliban storm security posts in west Afghanistan, kill 21
KABUL (Reuters) - Taliban insurgents have stormed security posts in west Afghanistan, killing 21 police and pro-government militia members, officials said on Monday, the latest in a surge of attacks that has cast doubt on tentative steps toward talks.

The Taliban attacked the checkpoints in two different parts of Badghis province, which is on the border with Turkmenistan, late on Sunday, provincial officials said.

Abdul Aziz Bek, head of the Badghis provincial council, said 14 policemen and seven members of pro-government militias were killed, while nine were injured.

A second government official, Jamshid Shahabi, a spokesman for the Badghis provincial governor, said more than 15 Taliban militants were killed and 10 wounded in the clashes.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attacks, among the most deadly in the province in many months.

Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, a Taliban spokesman, said in statement they killed 34 members of the security forces and pro-government militias and seized many weapons and ammunition.

Leaders of the hardline Islamist group and the U.S. officials are scheduled to meet this month to discuss the withdrawal of foreign forces and a possible ceasefire.

In northern Balochistan's Pishin district, Naib Tehsildar Abdul Malik Tareen was the target of the first attack, police official Tahir Mehmood told DawnNewsTV. An improvised bomb planted in a cycle of violence parked outside Tareen's office detonated as he was entering the building.

Police said Tareen and two other Levies personnel were maimed, along with seven civilians.

Eight maimed were rushed to Civil Hospital Pishin, while Tareen and gunman Salahuddin were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Quetta for medical treatment.

Doctors said the naib tehsildar's condition is critical, but all others injured are out of danger.

In a separate incident, two people including a Frontier Corps soldier and a civilian were maimed in a remote-controlled blast in Panjgur district. The maimed were rushed to a hospital for medical treatment.

A security official who declined to be named said the miscreants targeted an FC vehicle with the roadside remote-controlled bomb in Panjgur bazaar. The blast also damaged the vehicle.

Sunday's kabooms come days after four security personnel were martyred and four others injured while trying to prevent Death Eaters from entering a compound inside an FC training centre in the cantonment area of Loralai district. Four attackers, including a jacket wallah, were also killed in that clash.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Iron Dome intercepts rocket fired at Ashkelon from Gaza
[IsraelTimes] Rocket sirens sound in the southern city hours after IDF hits two Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, positions in response to an bomb that was flown into southern Israel.

Paleostinian gunnies in the Gazoo Strip fired a single rocket into Israel early Monday, which was intercepted by the Iron Dome system, the IDF said. There were no reports of injuries.

Warning sirens blared in the southern city of Ashkelon and the nearby Ashkelon beach region after 3 am. The IDF said it identified a single launch from Gazoo.

Residents reported hearing loud kabooms, apparently from the Iron Dome interceptor.

The launch came hours after the Israeli Air Force struck two Hamas positions in the eastern Gazoo Strip in response to an bomb that was flown into southern Israel earlier in the day, the army said.

On Sunday morning, a bomb was flown into Israel using a large cluster of balloons and a drone-like glider device, landing in a carrot field in the Sdot Negev region of southern Israel shortly before noon.

In retaliation for the cross-border attack from Gazoo, Israeli military helicopters attacked two observation posts east of Khan Younis that are controlled by the coastal enclave’s Hamas rulers, the Israel Defense Forces said.

"IDF attack helicopters struck two military positions belonging to the Hamas terrorist group in the Gazoo Strip in response to the balloon-borne bomb, which was launched by a model drone," the army said.

In addition to the posts near Khan Younis, Paleostinian media reported that the IDF had attacked targets near Jabalia, in northern Gazoo, and in the Zeitoun area of Gazoo City, in the central Strip. The IDF refused to comment on those reports.

The military did not say who it believed flew the bomb into southern Israel, but said it held Hamas responsible as the rulers of Gazoo.

"The IDF will continue to act in defense of the citizens of Israel and against terrorism from the Strip," the army said.

Though similar to a drone in appearance, the balloon-borne device was apparently not capable of flight.

The name of a Gazook engineering college was printed on the side of the model drone.

Police said the device went kaboom! as a bomb disposal robot examined it. The drone lookalike was then carried away.

"No injuries were caused; the investigation continues," police said.

It was not immediately clear how the device made it across the border without being shot down by the IDF.

The discovery came after a week-long lull in airborne arson attempts from Gazoo.

Shin Bet arrests Jewish teens suspected of stoning death of Palestinian
[IsraelTimes] The Shin Bet security service releases information on the gagged probe of the murder of Paleostinian woman Aisha Rabi.

The 47-year-old mother of eight was struck in the head with a large stone on October 12, 2018 while sitting in the passenger seat of a car driven by her husband near Tapuah Junction in the northern West Bank.

The Shin Bet confirms it has jugged
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
a number of Jewish teens suspected of involvement in the stone throwing that led to Rabi’s death.

Three boys were arrested last Sunday and had been barred from meeting with their lawyers until Saturday evening. An additional two teens were arrested on Saturday evening and have similarly been prevented from meeting with their lawyers.

The boys are suspected of "terror offenses, including murder," the Shin Bet says.

The teens are students at the Pri Haaretz yeshiva high school in the northern West Bank settlement of Rehelim.

The Shin Bet says that on Saturday morning, after the attack, a group of far-right activists from Yitzhar drove to the yeshiva ‐ violating religious laws that prevent driving on the Sabbath ‐ in order to coach students they suspected were involved in the incident on how to withstand Shin Bet

Palestinian seriously wounded by Israeli rubber bullet fire, report says
[IsraelTimes] Security forces raid a Paleostinian town after a Israeli bus came under fire late Saturday; troops reportedly seize security camera footage.

Israeli security forces seriously maimed a Paleostinian teenager early Sunday morning during a raid on al-Bireh, a town adjacent to Ramallah, the official Paleostinian Authority news site Wafa reported.

Security forces entered al-Bireh after an Israeli bus came under fire Saturday night near the Beit El settlement, the report said. The Israel Defense Forces said the bus driver was lightly maimed in the shooting.

Security forces fired a rubber bullet at 16-year-old Fawaz Adel, seriously wounding him, medical and local sources told Wafa, adding that he was transferred to a nearby hospital.

The sources said the rubber bullet struck Adel’s head, fracturing his skull and causing internal bleeding. The Wafa report did not say what Adel was doing when he was hit by the rubber bullet.
"He was just standing there, holding a bottle of gasoline, turning his life around. A good boy"
The IDF referred questions about Adel to the Border Police.

The Border Police said it was looking into reports about the incident.

Security forces also seized footage from cameras on a building in al-Bireh, where a Peugeot showroom is located, the Wafa report added.

Asked if security forces seized footage, the army declined to comment.

Following two terror attacks in December in the central West Bank, troops raided Ramallah and seized footage from several buildings’ security cameras.

In one of the terror attacks, seven people were maimed by gunfire, including a pregnant woman. Her baby was delivered prematurely in an emergency operation but died days later. In another attack days later, two Israeli soldiers were rubbed out.

The Wafa report also said security forces went up to the rooftop of a local Paleostinian’s home and raised an Israeli flag there.

The IDF said it was also looking into reports about the flag.

Cotobato mall bombing suspects caught on security cam
[Inquirer] Philippine police on Friday released video images of two men suspected of carrying out the New Year’s Eve mall bombing in Cotabato City that killed two people and injured 34 others.

Police spokesman Oliver Enmodias showed media the images of the two suspects, each carrying a bag, as they entered the mall. The male suspects placed a bag next to the lotto outlet and baggage counter on the second floor of the mall minutes before an improvised explosive device blew up outside the mall around 1:50pm. Bomb experts later discovered an unexploded second bomb on the second floor.

Enmodias said, “[The images of the two suspects] were clearly captured by CCTV and we have strong evidence they were behind the bombing.”

Police have appealed to the public for help in locating the suspects, which came days before the holding of a plebiscite on a law that will give Muslims an autonomous homeland in Mindanao. Moro Islamic Liberation Front chair Murad Ebrahim condemned the attack, saying it was “an act of cowardice, inhuman and atrocious.”

Soccsksargen police director Eliseo Tam Rasco said the task force was still hunting seven cohorts of the suspects, three of them women. He did not reveal the cohorts’ roles in the blast.

Video of Abu Sayyaf hostage pleading for help emerges
[Straits Times] An Indonesian kidnapped by Abu Sayyaf-linked gunmen from waters off Pulau Gaya in Semporna last September 11, has been seen pleading for help in a video.

The man, Samsul Sangunim, is shown in a freshly dug hole, crying and pleading for help in the video that appeared on social media. He was heard saying: "Tolong saya boss, tolong saya boss, tolong... (please help boss, please help boss, please help)."

According to sources in the Philippines, the video was sent by his Abu Sayyaf abductors to the owner of a fishing boat in an effort by the gunmen to demand ransom for his release.

Samsul was kidnapped at gunpoint together with another Indonesian fishing crew member Usman Yusof, while in waters off Pulau Gaya in Semporna. Usman managed to flee his captors on December 5, and has been reunited with his family in Indonesia.

Samsul is being kept together with three other captives - a Malaysian and two Indonesians- who were grabbed by gunmen from the fishing boat in waters off Kinabatangan close to the Tawi Tawi chain of islands in the Philippines.

It is believed that most negotiations for the release of the captives were being made directly with the families or boat owners. According to media reports, the Abu Sayyaf group had demanded 4 million pesos for the safe release of Usman and Samsul.

The hostages are believed to be held under Hatib Sawadjan and his sub-commander Indang Susukan.

Two American ISIS Fighters Captured in Syria
[PJ] Two Americans who had joined ISIS in Syria were captured Sunday by U.S.-allied Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) near the Hajin pocket, one of the remaining areas under the terror group's control in Deir ez-Zor governate in eastern Syria. Two Pakistanis and one Irishman were also captured.

From the SDF link:

The operation Jazeera Storm, carried out with the aim of liberating the last regions under the occupation of ISIS, continues steadily towards clearing the last bastions of the group. ISIS, which is now cornered in a small area after being cleared from large swathes of territory it once held, is suffering heavy losses due to operations of our forces. Recently, in order to prevent the advance of our forces, terrorists have attempted to carry out attacks several times. In this context, a group of terrorists who had been preparing to attack the civilians who were trying to get out of the war zone in masses was detected. Following long-term technical and physical follow-up, an operation against the cell was carried out by our forces. As a result of the operation, 5 terrorists originally from the United States, Ireland and Pakistan were captured. The ID details of captured terrorists are as follows;

Warren Christopher Clark (Abu Mohammad al-Ameriki) originally from Houston, USA.
Alexandr Ruzmatovich Bekmirzaev, originally Dublin, Ireland.
Zaid Abed al-Hamid (Abu Zaid al-Ameriki), originally from USA.
Fadel al-Rahman Cad (Abu Enam al-Muhajir), originally from Lahor, Pakistan.
Abed al-Azem Rajhoud (Abu Omea al-Pakistani), originally from Sialkot, Pakistan.

US-backed SDF captures five ISIS fighters among them two Americans
Two? Anyone we know?
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The US-backed force known as the Syrian Democratic Forces announced that it captured five ISIS members in the Death Eater group last stronghold in Deir Ezzor province, east of the Euphrates river, bordering Iraq.

Among the five two from the United States and others from Ireland and Pakistain, according to SDF.

In a blurb on Sunday, SDF confirmed capturing the five ISIS members, saying that "They were preparing to launch attacks against the fleeing civilians from that areas" pointing out that the capture happened on December 30.

According to field sources, the SDF only announced the news after it finished interrogation with the five elements.

The five are American Warren Christopher Clark (34 year) from Huston, who goes by the name "American Abu Mohammad" and American from Arab origin Zaid Abed al-Hamed known by "American Abu Zaid".
...no, not interesting enough to be in our archive...
In addition to the two Americans, there are an Irish citizen called Alexandr Ruzmanovich Bekmirzaev
...they forgot the O’Toole...
from Dublin, in addition to two Paks Fadel al-Rahman Jad from Lahore and Abed al-Azem Rajbout.

The Syrian Democratic Forces have locked away
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
around 1,000 imported muscle of ISIS during its control of vast areas in Syria.

Among those captured, Death Eaters who were part of a notorious kidnapping cell dubbed "The Beatles" known for torturing hostages and executing foreign journalists in Syria and Iraq, in addition to another fighter from al-Qaeda, known to have met with the terrorist group’s leader the late Osama bin Laden
... who is now beyond all cares and woe...
, before he was killed.

Most of the foreign governments refuse to repatriate their citizens who were fighting with ISIS, while Kurdish officials say "they cannot detain them (ISIS fighters) forever, calling the international community to "find a solution."

In contrast to what is happening in Iraq, where the Iraqi judicial authorities sentenced more than 300 members of the Death Eater group, including 100 foreigners to life imprisonment or death, the Kurdish authorities and their local allies in Syria refuse to prosecute captured ISIS fighters while they only prosecute the Death Eater group local members without carrying out the death penalty
The Syrian Democratic Forces, the armed wing of the Kurdish-dominated Democratic Council of Syria, fought its last battles against ISIS in Deir al-Zour, ending its long-standing rule in several Syrian regions.
The Daily Mail has Mr. Clark’s ISIS job application, in which he explains that he has a bachelor's degree from the University of Houston and worked as a teacher in Texas before teaching English in Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Whether he was subsequently allowed to teach at the University of Mosul instead of being sent to the front lines is not clear.

Rebels send massive convoy of reinforcements to west Aleppo
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels from the Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA) sent a massive convoy of reinforcements to the western countryside of Aleppo on Sunday.

According to opposition activists via social media, the Free Syrian Army sent the reinforcements from several areas in northern Syria.

The reinforcements are expected to aid the Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels to reclaim all of the territories they lost to the jihadists of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
last week.

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham was able to capture the entire countryside of western Aleppo after launching a big offensive against their former allies from Harakat Nouriddeen al-Zinki.

The jihadist offensive was launched after the latter accused Harakat Nouriddeen al-Zinki of killing five of their fighters near the key town of Dart Izza.
