One detained and another injured after Zintani brigade members stray into Algeria
[Libya Herald] One member of the Zintan based Qaaqaa Brigade has been detained and another injured after the two men unknowingly crossed into Algeria and ran into a border patrol.

The Commander of Qaaqaa's 411 Border Guards, Mustafa Ikendiush, told the Libya Herald the two men encountered the Algerian Army while hunting for deer having crossed the border unintentionally.

He said that Qaaqaa and the Algerian border guards work closely to coordinate their patrols but the incident near Tadrart had occurred as a result of the two men's relative inexperience. "These members were new to the area and as such had no knowledge of it," Ikendiush said.

One of the two men escaped the firefight and has been taken to Ghat Hospital to receive treatment for gunshot wounds. Ikendiush described his condition as serious. The other brigade member is being held by the Algerian military.

"The Algerian Army is relentless and well-trained," Ikenduish said. "As the movement of murderous Moslem groups in the area has increased they have become more suspicious and more cautious," he added.

Tadrart, on the outskirts of the Tuareag-majority town of Ghat is extremely famous for its wildlife and ancient Tadrart Akakus rock paintings.

Egypt police attack student protesters in Cairo
[Iran Press TV] Fierce festivities have erupted between Egyptian security forces and students protesting against the military-backed government in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

On Monday, riot police fired tear gas at protesters spilling out after a call by the Moslem Brüderbund and its allied organizations against the military-installed interim authorities.

Student leaders accuse security forces of using live ammunition to disperse protesters in the capital's Nasr City district.

Dozens of students pelted security forces with rocks, some picking up tear gas canisters and threw them back.

Al-Azhar and some other universities have seen almost daily anti-government demonstrations that have frequently turned violent since the military ousted former president, Mohammed Morsi

The latest rally comes as more Brotherhood members have been given death sentences and lengthy jail terms.

The students also called for the release of all the tossed in the slammer

protesters and the dismissal of police guards from universities.

The developments come as protests continue across Egypt against the presidential candidacy of former army chief, Abdel Fatah el-Sisi.

German diplomat injured escaping kidnapping attempt in Yemen
[Xinhua] A German diplomat was injured as he was escaping an apparent kidnapping attempt by unknown gunnies in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa on Monday, an Interior Ministry official said.

The gunnies driving a car tried to intercept the German diplomat 's vehicle on a road near the German embassy in Hadda area, the capital's heavily-secured diplomatic hub. But the German diplomat and his driver refused to stop and sped away as the gunnies opened fire and slightly injured the diplomat, the official said. The would-be kidnappers fled the area.

Iraq Attacks Kill 57, Including 30 Talabani Supporters, as Security Forces Vote
[An Nahar] Attacks including a spate of suicide kabooms killed 57 people on Monday as soldiers and coppers cast their votes in Iraq's first parliamentary election since U.S. troops withdrew.

The bombings in Storied Baghdad and the north and west raise serious concerns about the security forces' ability to protect ordinary voters on polling day on Wednesday, when more than 20 million are eligible to take part.

They come amid a protracted surge in violence and fears the country is edging towards all-out conflict.

#1  But there is widespread public frustration over poor basic services, rampant corruption and high unemployment, as well as the persistent violence.
So we'll commit lots of violence so we can get to take advantage of rampant corruption, and subject the population to poor basic services and high unemployment.

Suicide bomb kills 20 in Iraq's Diyala
[Xinhua] At least 20 people were killed and some 30 others maimed in Iraq's Diyala province on Monday when a suicide kaboomed the Kurdish civilians celebrating sick Iraqi President Jalal Talabani casting his vote, a provincial police source said.

The attack occurred in the city of Khanaqin, some 165 km northeast of the capital Storied Baghdad. A jacket wallah blew up his explosive vest among a group of Kurdish people who gathered in front of the office of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan party led by Talabani. The corpse count could rise.

The Kurdish people were celebrating while watching a video showing the Kurdish Iraqi president, who has been in Germany recovering from a stroke since the end of 2012, was casting his vote in early polls of Wednesday's nationwide parliamentary election.

It's the second day of a two-day voting for Iraqi expatriates in 19 countries in the Middle East, Europe and North America to cast their ballots for a new parliament.

The ethnically mixed city of Khanaqin is part of the areas in dispute between the Kurds, who want to annex it to their autonomous region, and the authorities in Storied Baghdad.

Abu Sayyaf camp captured in Sulu
Philippine marines captured an Abu Sayyaf camp in Sulu early Monday. Marine Brigade commander Brigadier General Martin Pinto said, "The camp was reportedly one of the ASG havens where consolidations, meetings and training of their new young recruits are being conducted."

Pinto said the camp had 50 makeshift huts that can accommodate 100 militants. He said, "It has a good water source and the whole area is concealed under a thickly vegetated forest. The camp is heavily fortified with bunkers while individual foxholes are strategically emplaced and scattered in different defensive positions."

The camp is also used as "a staging and rendezvous area" for their kidnapping incidents. Pinto said, "By employing a very well directed artillery fires from 81mm mortars, the marines were able to force the ASG to abandon the camp and withdraw towards different directions."

One Abu Sayyaf member was reportedly hurt in the shelling, but was taken away by his comrades who fled.
