Kabul Attacks Death Toll Rises To Seven
More on this report from yesterday.
[ToloNews] At least seven people were killed in coordinated attacks on police headquarters in Kabul City on Wednesday, the Ministry of Public Health said on Thursday.

Waheed Majroh, front man for the ministry, said 17 others were maimed in the attacks.

He said "the number of casualties may raise".

The first attack occurred at around 11:30am Kabul time in which two jacket wallahs stormed the PD13 Police Headquarters’ building in Dasht-e-Barchi area, in the west of Kabul, Interior Ministry front man Najib Danish.

He said one police officer and a police soldier were killed and two others maimed in the attack.

Meanwhile,

Kabul Police Chief Daud Amin said on Thursday that "first a suicide bomber detonated his explosives close to the gate of PD13 and the second bomber entered inside the compound and he was killed by police after 20 minutes of festivities".

"The attackers had security forces uniform and were equipped with RPG, hand grenade and guns," he said.

The second kaboom occurred when a suicide bomber was recognized and stopped by police force members in Mahtab Qala area in Dasht-e-Barchi, he added.

Amin said five suicide bombers attacked PD10 Police Headquarters in Shar-e-Naw area in Kabul City.

The attack occurred at around 12:30pm when a suicide bomber blew up his explosives near the police headquarters and four others entered into building of a private travel agency in the area and started their attacks from the roof the building, the police chief said.

"The target was Shahir Travel Agency but police rescued all 300 employees of the agency," he said, adding that "the four other attackers were killed by police during the clearance operation".

According to Danish, the attack ended at around 6:30pm after all attackers were bumped off by government forces.

Private Company Target Of Militant Attack In Kabul

[ToloNews] A day after coordinated bully boy attacks in Kabul, police said a travel agency in Shahr-e-Naw area in downtown Kabul was the target of suicide kaboomers.

"Their target was a company called Shahir which provides Indian visa services," Kabul Police Chief Mohammad Daud Amin told TOLOnews on Thursday.

The PD10 Police Chief Abdul Waheed Ahmadi said three coppers and a security guard from Etisalat Telecommunication Company were killed and 16 others sustained "minor injuries" in the attack.

He said five "suicide attackers" were involved in the attack at Shahr-e-Naw.

Eyewitnesses said the five suicide attackers had normal Afghan clothes and walked out of a car near the company and killed one soldier by shooting him and another blew up his explosives. The second suicide attack was carried out a minute later on the other side of the door.

The third suicide attack happened a little further from the place where the second kaboom happened.

Two other attackers entered a restaurant near the company through the door. The restaurant is now in ruins.

Police said the attackers had guns, hand grenades and boom jackets. They have left shell casings, dried fruit, hats and boom jackets inside the hotel.

The two suicide attackers went to the second floor of the restaurant and fought government forces from 12:00pm to 5:00pm Kabul time. Finally, one of them was killed by security forces in a bathroom in the restaurant while the second was killed while in a hall.

Amin said the attackers wanted to enter a high-rise building and hit their targets from there ‐ but were not successful.

"There were many national and international organizations around the building and if the attackers entered the building they would have threatened all the offices including the Asian (Development) Bank, Shahir Travel Agency and the PD10 police headquarters," Ahmadi told TOLOnews.

From information released by the Ministry of Interior, at least 350 people were inside Shahir Travel Agency when the attack happened. Meanwhile,
...back at the alley, Slats grabbed for his rosco...
dozens of others were inside nearby buildings including the Asian Development Bank branch, a department of the Attorney General’s Office, the PD10 Police Headquarters’ building, the Directorate of Hajj and Religious Affairs, shops and companies. All were rescued, the ministry said.

Residents of the area and eyewitnesses said the area has been under threat since a long time ago.

"They (militants) threatened to attack this area and now they have," said Samiullah, an eyewitness.

"The area has been under threat during the past two months," said Atiqullah, an eyewitness.

[KhaamaPress ] The local officials in southeastern Paktia province are saying that the anti-government armed bully boyz have suffered heavy casualties during the joint operations conducted by the Afghan and US forces in this province.

The provincial government media office in a statement said the operations were conducted in Surkh Dara, Zaghni, and Roidar areas of Aryoub azai district.

Afghan army EOD team thwart deadly explosion in Herat province
[KhaamaPress] The Afghan armed forces have thwarted a plan by the anti-government armed Death Eater groups to carry out a deadly kaboom in western Herat

province of Afghanistan.

The 207th Zafar Corps of the Afghan Military in the West said the murderous Moslems had planted an improvised bomb made up of heavy artillery shells on a roadside in Farsi district.

The source further added that the murderous Moslems were looking to detonate the explosives in Dasht-e-Qala village on the main road but their plot was thwarted after the explosives were discovered by the armed forces.

According to the Zafar Corps, the explosives were safely defused by the Explosives Ordnance Disposal team of the Afghan army.

The anti-government armed Death Eater groups frequently use explosives materials for the roadside kaboomings and boom-mobileings to target the government staff and security personnel.

However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...
in majority of such incidents the ordinary civilians are targeted besides such bombings incur casualties to the security personnel and in some cases the Talibs themselves are killed or maimed.

A total of 10,453 civilian casualties ‐ 3,438 people killed and 7,015 injured ‐ were documented in the 2017 Annual Report released last month by the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) and the UN Human Rights Office.

The report further added that the high number of casualties to the civilians were inflicted by suicide kabooms and other attacks using improvised bombs (IEDs).

Egyptian court places 169 Muslim Brotherhood members on terror list
[AlAhram] An Egyptian criminal court has placed 169 members of the banned Moslem Brüderbund group on the country's terror list.

The defendants are facing charges of conspiring to infiltrate state institutions with the aim of overthrowing the regime by force and spreading chaos in the country.

The court’s decision is based on state security investigations, which revealed that the defendants attempted to revive the group's activities by recruiting new members to its armed wings, spread rumors and provided financial and logistical assistance to the Brotherhood, which was designated a terrorist group in 2013.

Under the country’s anti-terrorism law, any person placed on the terror list is subject to a travel ban and having their assets frozen.

Egypt's terror list contains over 1,500 names, including top Brotherhood leaders.

The list includes Egypt’s former Islamist president Mohammed Morsi, the group’s supreme guide Mohammed Badie, and the Brotherhood's deputy supreme guide Mahmoud Ezzat, who fled Egypt in 2013.

The list also includes Ibrahim Mounir, the Brotherhood's secretary-general in London, who has been convicted of planning attacks in Egypt from abroad.

According to the LiveLeak description, the incident took place in Badush, Iraq.

Honestly, this scum got exactly what he deserved. If you plant a bomb hoping to hurt someone else, getting blown up yourself is pure justice.

I guess this guy sort of did a good thing in a way, killing himself so our brave American servicemen and women didn’t have to waste American bullets or bombs getting him. Let’s hope that more terrorists are as stupid as he is and start taking care of themselves so America and our allies don’t have to.

Isis: Trump says five 'most wanted' leaders captured
[THEGUARDIAN] Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...

They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
Lion of Islam group had been captured, an apparent reference to the capture of five commanders of the Lion of Islam group by Iraq.

"Five Most Wanted leaders of ISIS just captured!" Trump wrote on Twitter, providing no further details.

Iraq had described the capture of the Isis commanders as "some of the most wanted" leaders of the group. The list did not include Isis leader His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...the head of ISIS, or what remains of it, and a veteran of the Abu Graib jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us. So far he has been killed at least four times, though not yet by a stake through the heart...
The US-led coalition said that Iraqi forces working with US-backed Syrian rebels had captured five senior Isis leaders.

In a statement Thursday coalition front man Army Col. Ryan Dillon called the arrest a "significant blow to ISIS," using the Arabic acronym for the turban group.

Earlier on Thursday, the New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

reported that the five suspects including an aide to Baghdadi had been captured following a three-month operation carried out by Iraqi and US intelligence agencies.

The operation tracked senior Isis leaders who had been in hiding in Syria and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
, the report said.
The Daily Mail adds photos and information about the five Numbers 2 and 3, courtesy of Mercutio:
Iraqi officials used the cell phone of already captured ISIS lieutenant Ismail al-Eithawi to send instructions via the Telegram app for the four other leaders to come to Iraq, where they were seized.
I suspect Tinder - Lonely caprophiles seek like-minded for love-in and jihad
The encrypted app was officially named by ISIS as one of its favored mobile messaging services in 2015 and has been regularly used by the terror group for private communication and to spread propaganda.

Al-Eithawi, who also uses the alias Abu Zaid al-Iraqi, was captured in February by Turkish intelligence and handed over to the Iraqis.

Eithawi was a direct aide to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, responsible for fund transfers to the group's bank accounts in different countries, and served as ISIS governor in Syria's eastern Euphrates region and as a minister in charge of the group's so-called education department.

Saddam al-Jamal, a Syrian who was accused of taking part of a massacre in the province of Deir Ezzor in 2014 which killed 700 members of a tribe that rose up against ISIS, was the second most senior member to be captured. He had previously been a commander in the Free Syrian Army and then leader of a western-allied 'moderate' Islamist group called Ahfab al-Rasoul.

This was effectively destroyed by ISIS following a military campaign, and al-Jamal reappeared in an ISIS video to say he had defected from his former group which he branded 'stooges' of the West, according to The London Times.

As head of ISIS in Deir Ezzor, he is accused of overseeing the murders of 700 members of the Shaitat tribe after it rebelled against ISIS.

Apart from al-Eithawi and al-Jamal, the operation captured three field commanders: Syrian Mohamed al-Qadeer and two Iraqis, Omar al-Karbouli and Essam al-Zawbai, Hashimi said.

#8  This reminds of a book I read back in the days before the Internet. A Russian defector from the GRU said they sold what they called "Monkey Copies" of armored vehicles to the Middle East. The real tanks would have filters for an over pressure system to keep out gas and radioactive particles. They would have different light filters for the optical systems, infra red, ultra violet etc. Instead of electrical powered traverse the copy would have a manual traverse. The Russians had what was in effect traveling depot level repair yards and there was no way the Arabs and such could staff one of those.

Israel Raids Briefs: Hizbullah posts hit, Leb catches debris, Syria claims klled Zionist rockets
Hizbullah Posts Reportedly Hit in Israel's Syria Raids

[AnNahar] Posts for Leb's Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
were among those hit in the unprecedented Israeli air raids in Syria overnight, a monitor said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the strikes targeted posts "likely belonging to Hizbullah in the southwest of the city of Homs" and "other posts for Hizbullah and pro-regime fighters in the triangle of Daraa, Quneitra and Damascus' southwest countryside."

The Israeli raids also hit "the Muadamiyat al-Sham town west of Damascus, in which fighters from Hizbullah, Iran and the Syrian regime's Fourth Battalion are deployed," the Observatory added.

Israel's army said Thursday it had carried out widespread raids against Iranian targets in Syria overnight after rocket fire towards its forces which it blamed on Iran, marking a sharp escalation between the two enemies.

Lebanon Hit by Missiles Debris from Israel-Iran Syria Flare-Up

[AnNahar] Debris from several missiles landed overnight in several Lebanese regions during an unprecedented military flare-up between Israeli, Iranian and Syrian forces.

"Between 3:00 and 3:45 am, and as a result of the incidents that took place in Syria, remnants and tails of missiles of unidentified types and sources landed in the outskirt of the Hasbaya town of al-Hibbariyeh, the Shebaa town of Saqiyat Wadi Janaam, and Khirbet Qanafar and Qab Elias" in the Bekaa, a Lebanese Army statement said.

"The debris did not cause any casualties and army patrols headed to the outskirts of the aforementioned towns, where military experts examined the remnants," the statement added.

Leb's National News Agency had reported that "a surface-to-surface missile landed at dawn in the vicinity of the town of al-Hibbariyeh, during the exchange of fire between the Syrian forces and the Israeli enemy."

It said Lebanese Army experts examined the went kaboom! missile before transferring it to a military post.

LBCI meanwhile reported that another "missile" had landed in the Bekaa town of Qab Elias near a Syrian refugee encampment.

Syrian army says destroyed most of Israeli rockets

[PRESSTV] The Syrian army command says its air defense systems have managed to intercept and destroy the biggest part of a "successive wave" of Israeli rockets fired at military bases in the Arab country.

The army front man said in a statement on state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
on Thursday that the recent Israeli strikes had demolished a radar station and a weapons depot, without elaborating on the location of the targets.

The Israeli attacks on Syria also killed three people and maimed several others, according to the statement.

It further reaffirmed "the alertness of the army and readiness to defend the illusory sovereignty of the homeland against any aggression," stressing that attempts to support terrorism would prove futile.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch clutched at his other leg......
Russia's Defense Ministry said that Israel had used 28 planes in its Syria strikes and fired 70 missiles, adding that Damascus had shot down over half of the missiles.

Syria rebels exit towns near Damascus, leaving only IS group
[AlAhram] Hundreds of Syrian rebels left an area south of Damascus on Thursday, a monitor and state media said, leaving the capital threatened only by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. group.

Fifteen buses carrying hundreds of fighters and their relatives left the towns of Yalda, Babila, and Beit Saham on the southern edge of Damascus, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitor.

"The convoy is on its way to opposition territory in northern Syria," the Observatory told AFP.

In all, the Observatory said, 8,400 people had been evacuated from the three towns since a deal was reached one week ago for the negotiated withdrawals.

"For the first time since 2011, there are no opposition fighters in or around Damascus except the Islamic State group," said Rami Abdel Rahman, director of the Britannia-based monitor.

IS still controls a pocket of territory inside the Yarmuk Paleostinian camp and the adjacent Hajar al-Aswad district, both inside Damascus.

Government forces have been pressing a ferocious weeks-long assault against them there and continued to carry out air strikes there on Thursday.

The agreement for Yalda, Babila, and Beit Saham was reached on May 3 and follows a pattern of similar deals through which Syria's government has recaptured swathes of territory around Damascus.

"Yalda, Babila, and Beit Saham south of Damascus have been cleared of terrorism, after the final wave of holy warriors who did not want to reconcile (with the government) left to northern Syria with their families," said state news agency SANA.

It said government security forces were preparing to enter the three towns, which had for several years fallen under a "reconciliation" agreement with the Syrian state.

That meant they remained in rebel hands but a local ceasefire was enforced.

This year, however, Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Scourge of Qusayr...
has appeared more determined than ever to secure the entirety of the capital and its surroundings with a blend of military pressure and negotiated withdrawals.

It used the same strategy on the Eastern Ghouta rebel stronghold, which it recaptured last month, and on an area northeast of the capital.

In a blurb on Thursday, the media service of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) said "the artillery of the 29th brigade targeted, this evening, pivotal locations of Islamic State members at al-Atshana village in Syria."

The artillery shelling, according to the troops, "inflicted losses among the enemy."

‘Operation House of Cards,’ the IAF mission to cripple Iran’s presence in Syria
[IsraelTimes] Army clip shows Israeli strike on launcher; officer says campaign a success, but warns Iran still has missiles in Syria: 'It's like searching for a needle in a haystack'.

During two pre-dawn hours, Israeli F-15 and F-16 fighter jets evaded "dozens of missiles" and dropped "many dozens" of bombs on over 50 Iranian targets throughout Syria as the Israel air force carried out an extensive campaign, dubbed "Operation House of Cards," to try and destroy Iran’s military presence in the country.

The mission ‐ the largest air campaign carried out by Israel in Syria in over 40 years ‐ was "very successful," a senior air force officer said Thursday, but warned that Israel believes that Iranian forces in Syria are still in possession of surface-to-surface missiles that could again be fired at Israel.

Iran attacked Israel from Syria without notifying Damascus – report
[IsraelTimes] Assad's regime appears to be distancing itself from Tehran's missile fire

Iranian forces in Syria did not ask the Syrian government, or even notify Syrian leaders, before launching 20 missiles at Israel Wednesday night, Fox News reported Thursday. The IDF said it suffered no casualties, either on the ground or in the air, and that no rockets fired from Syria made impact in Israeli territory.

"It appears that the regime of Bashir al-Assad of Syria wants to distance itself from Iran’s military activity in its very own back yard," Fox News’s David Lee Miller reported from the Golan Heights.

Miller said that Fox News had learn from European sources that, "The Iranian major general in charge of the al-Quds Force in Syria, Qassem Soleimani
, launched last night’s attack against Israel without the knowledge or the consent of the Assad regime."

He went on to say that the Syrian claim came, "Despite the fact that some Syrian military personnel took part in the aggression." It was not clear if he was referring to the rocket fire against Israel or the Syrian anti-aircraft fire that was later directed at the Israeli air force.

Sources told Fox News that the Soleimani was not accountable to Damascus and could act freely without having to report to Syrian officials.

The message from Syria may be a way of avoiding further retaliation from Israel.

In his first remarks since the widespread overnight strikes, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had sent a clear message to Assad, warning him to keep Syrian forces out of the fight.

"Iran crossed a red line and we reacted accordingly," the premier said in a Hebrew-language video released as the security cabinet were meeting at the IDF’s Tel Aviv headquarters.

The exchange was the largest-ever direct clash between the Iranian forces and the IDF, and appeared to be the largest exchange involving Israel in Syria since the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

Among the sites hit were Syrian air defenses, and Netanyahu said that was only because Assad had ignored his warning.

"Yesterday I conveyed a clear message to the Assad regime: Our activity is directed against Iranian targets in Syria. But if the Syrian army takes action against us, we will act against it," Netanyahu warned. "That is exactly what happened yesterday, Syrian army batteries launched ground-to-air missiles against us, and therefore we hit them."

At least 23 fighters were killed, according to the Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, including five Syrian regime troops and 18 other allied forces.
