#7  If it won't blow your cover , get a solar systdm, there's a plug-in sstem that will pay you for the power you generate.

OR, there's a systm (Using batteries) that's a "Stand Alone" And provides your own power.

The way Prices are going, It'll be worthwhile.

NOT an advertisement.

#8  Unless he is really, really out in the sticks where he doesn't have grid power his best option is to use solar, generator, ect. as backup. Idaho Power is mostly hydraulic ((dams on the Snake River) with a backup of coal and gas generators. Oversight by the Idaho Public Utility Commission. Prices are reasonable compared to some other areas.

Idaho Power recommends solar, wind or generator on remote ranches or locations where it would cost mega-bucks to run power lines to the location. BTW, the customer pays for that installation.

Solar and wind don't seem to have a wonderful record w/r to payback. They tend to wear out before the expense is recovered. Surprised? Not me.

#9  Phacochoerus

Congratulation on your escape from LA California. I still have to figure out how to get out of here without taking a bath selling our home.

Kilo Bravo is all for the move except for leaving her twin sister behind in Petaluma. They came to the US together from England over forty years ago and have never been separated. It took me years to get Kilo Bravo to leave Marin and come to the Burbs in Danville. Since she was raised across the Mersey from Liverpool she has to be within reach of the ocean. Savannah is my first choice.

Two of Kilo Bravo's Girlfriends moved to Idaho. One lives with her husband in McCall and the other couple has a ranch in Clearwater up in the Panhandle. They gave up LA Real Estate and the a Central Valley farm for a Ranch and Leather Business in Idaho.

Good luck to you and Mrs. Phacochoerus. Keep us posted.

Suspected US drone crashes in Somalia's Lower Shabelle
A suspected US drone has crashed in the southern Lower Shabelle region of Somalia, according to reports.

The militant group al-Shabab said on Twitter that an American unmanned aircraft had come down near a town under its control. The US Africa Command has not confirmed the reports.

Residents in the town of Bulo Marer told the BBC they had seen the wreckage of a small plane but did not know whether it was a US drone.

Lower Shabelle region governor Abdikadir Mohamed Nur told Reuters news agency that Islamist militants had shot at the aircraft over the town for several hours before it came down.

"Finally they hit it and the drone crashed," he said.

Al-Shabab said in a Twitter post that photographs of the drone would be published in the coming hours.

3 die in Zacatecas as shootouts continue

Three unidentified individuals were found dead or were killed in drug and gang related violence in Zacatecas state, according to Mexican news accounts and BorderlandBeat anonymous correspondent, Zac.

"Shootouts and executions continue, near Fresnillo more human remains were found and it's in that city where shootouts have been more common," writes Zac.

According to a news account posted on the website of ZTR Zacatecas news daily, the remains of at least one unidentified individual were found near Fresnillo municipality near the village of El Triunfo.

According to the report, an unidentified individual stumbled on the location Sunday nine days ago while searching for firewood in the sierras, where he saw bone fragments, some human tissue, and some trash, including soda and beer bottles and some clothing. The Mexican Army had been notified and arrived at the location six days ago.

According to a translated quote referring to December, 2012, in the story by an unidentified resident, ""There was a chance that 19 federal police patrols along with the helicopter, made a persecution against such evil people, which took the life of 12 gunmen," said one resident.

It is unclear which gunfight the resident was referring to since a number of raids and gunfights between Mexican security forces and armed suspects took place during the month of December, 2012 throughout the state including in Fresnillo and Guadalupe municipalities.

About the current situation in Fresnillo and Guadalupe municipalities, Zac writes: "Perhaps the most alarming things around the capital have been 1 execution attempt and a brief shootout in plain daylight in busy areas, but... it's more of a constant dripping of violence than big bursts of it, minor shootouts are still a daily thing, usually in colonias in the outskirts. "

According a news report which appeared in the online edition of Hoy Zacatecas news daily, five days ago a business owner, Francisco Montes Tijerin, 75, was shot and wounded outside his business on Avenida Francisco Garcia Salinas near the Centro Comercial Tahon commercial center.

More than two weeks ago an unidentified man was shot and wounded in an intergang gunfight on Bulevar José Lopez Portillo, and an unidentified woman was hurt incident to the shootout when she was hit by a vehicle, according to a separate report in Hoy Zacatecas. Some of the armed suspects involved in the shootout fled the scene aboard a Ford Lobo pickup truck.

According to Zac, two men were executed in Transcoso municipality Monday.

"Last night 2 men were killed in Trancoso, it was a weird night with the football match, rumors of shootings here and there, people celebrating and all that, so it´s not clear what happened and which rumors are true, federal police closed down part of the city center, people who were watching the game at bars in the area were not allowed to leave for a while, but one news site says it was a false alarm and others don't mention anything...I have my doubts about the false alarm thing, but as you can imagine it was a noisy and moved night so it´s hard to know what exactly happened," writes Zac.

According to news report posted on the website of Zacatecas en Linea news daily, two men identified as Juan Carlos Saucedo and Juan Carlos Cordero Tenorio were found shot to death on a dirt road next to a mall. A third individual, identified as Juan Carlos Garcia Cordero, 41, was briefly detained a short distance away by local Policia Metropolitana. He was subsequently escorted for medical attention by Policia Federal and Policia Investigadora units.

According to a report the two victims were shot with small caliber weapons, .22 or .25 caliber, and since no spent shell casings were reported at the scene, the weapon used could have been a revolver. Cartel affiliated gangs typically prefer to use 5.7mm, Super .38 or 9mm pistols in their enforcement activities.

Islamist threatened to slash Aussie intel officer's throat
A young Sydney Muslim threatened to "slit the throat" and "crack the neck" of an intelligence officer and has been under surveillance for years, it was revealed in court yesterday.

Milad Bin Ahmad-Shah Al-Ahmadzai, 23, is alleged to have made the threat to a member of the Joint Counter Terrorism Team (JCTT) over the phone two weeks ago.

In a telephone conversation on May 2, the man is alleged to have said "I'm gonna crack your neck. Come near my family again, I'm gonna slit your throat, you pig."

He was charged with threatening serious harm to a Commonwealth official. He also was also charged with using a carriage service to threaten to kill. He has previously been identified as a threat to soldiers on Australian soil.

During his bail application, Al-Ahmadzai's lawyer Nick Hanna referred to his client's alleged victim as a "ghost". Hanna said the "victim, by virtue of his job, is invisible" and not under threat from his client. The victim's job was not specified in court but Hanna said, because of his position, he was an "anonymous" person.

The court heard the two had met three times and had 17 telephone conversations. Hanna said the meetings were at the initiation of the alleged victim.

Prosecutor Sergeant Adam Wilczec opposed bail and said the victim had made a statement fearing for his safety.

Hanna said his client had did not have a history of violence despite being "under close scrutiny for a long period of time". Documents tendered to the court showed he had been suspected of links to terrorism for years.

Magistrate Margaret Quinn refused bail, saying there was evidence the accused had contact with the alleged victim's family. The matter has been adjourned to July 24.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard mentioned the arrest in Parliament yesterday and confirmed there was a security upgrade by the Australian Defence Force after attacks on military personnel in London and Paris.

French Police Arrest Suspect in Stabbing Attack on Soldier
PARIS -- French police on Wednesday arrested a 22-year-old yout hard boy man in connection with the stabbing on Saturday of a French soldier in a Paris suburb, with officials describing the suspect as a fairly recent convert to Islam.
How recent? Which mosque? Who's the imam? How is the mosque financed? From where does the money come?
French Interior Minister Manuel Valls said in a statement that the suspect was arrested Wednesday morning in the Yvelines region just west of Paris, following the stabbing of Pvt. Cédric Cordiez in the neck from behind with a short-bladed knife. The attack took place in the shopping mall and underground transportation hub of La Défense, west of Paris.

The French suspect was known to investigators, Mr. Valls said, but he urged caution and said: “I cannot talk about radical Islam.” He said investigators wanted to know more about the suspect’s “motivation, background and family environment.”
Oh yes, let's do find out about the suspect's motivation, background and family environment. And then bury it so that the public never knows...
The police said he was identified thanks to video footage from the crime and traces of his DNA found on items left at the scene in a plastic bag, including a knife and a bottle.
Sloppy, sloppy -- he didn't wear gloves and he left his Perrier behind...
On the French television channel i>TELE, Mr. Valls warned of a growing number of young radicals in France similar to Mohammed Merah, the Islamist gunman who killed seven people in and around the southwestern city of Toulouse last year.

Mr. Valls said there are “several dozen, perhaps several hundred, potential Merahs in our country,” saying young French Muslims were being “radicalized” on the Internet and by extremist imams.
Perhaps the extremist imams could be invited to go home to Mauritania...
He told Le Figaro newspaper that “no fewer than 120 French jihadists'’ were involved in fighting in Syria and about 60 percent of them were allied with Al Qaeda fighters. He said that about 30 had returned to France and were under surveillance by the French authorities.
Why were they allowed to return?
The attacker, described by the police at the time as bearded and tall, approached Private Cordiez from behind while he was on patrol with two colleagues, stabbed him in the neck and then disappeared into a crowd. Sources close to the investigation have said to French news agencies that the suspect was seen on video praying a few minutes before the attack and that he was “a young, recently converted Islamist'’ already known to the police for his strong religious convictions and who had committed petty crimes in the past. But the same sources said that there was no indication of any tendency toward violence in his behavior.

Private Cordiez, 23, was released from a military hospital on Monday and rejoined his unit.

Peshawar People Potted
PESHAWAR: Two people were killed and about a dozen wounded when a motorbike bomb exploded in Peshawar late Tuesday, police and hospital officials said.

The low intensity bomb was detonated by a remote control device in the Imamia Colony on GT Road, senior police official Khalid Mahmood Hamdani said. “It was a remote-controlled device planted on a motorbike which went off in a street,” Hamdani told AFP. Two people were killed and about a dozen others were wounded, he said adding that the blast partially damaged three nearby houses.

The injured were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital where at least one was described to be in a critical condition. A large number of relatives of the dead and injured reached the hospital. Doctor Jamil Shah, spokesman for the city’s Lady Reading Hospital, confirmed the toll. “We received two bodies and 11 injured, two of them are in critical condition,” he said. The device carried about four kilogrammes of explosives, chief of the city’s Bomb Disposal Squad, Shafqat Malik told AFP. The bomb was planted on a motorbike, he said. No one immediately claimed responsibility for the blast. Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan has strongly condemned the blast and directed authorities concerned to provide the best available medical assistance to those injured in the blast.

Gunmen kill polio worker in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: Suspected gunmen killed a lady worker administering anti-polio drops in Peshawar suburbs and wounded another, while the World Health Organisation announced temporary suspension of the campaign, officials said Tuesday.

Police said they had taken at least 14 suspects into custody after the attack on the anti-polio team in Kaga Wala village in Badbher area. “One lady worker has died and another injured,” Peshawar Assistant Commissioner Habibullah Arif said. He, however, said the campaign would continue in other areas of Peshawar and a complete halt was not ordered. He said that he is personally supervising the drive in some areas. However, workers on the outskirts of the city are reluctant to move out after the incident and no polio teams are visible, according to the locals.

EPI Programme acting In-charge Dr Raheem Khattak told reporters that the polio workers were attacked by unidentified gunmen, killing one and inuring the other. Two attackers on a motorcycle opened fire on the team on the edge of Peshawar, near the restive Khyber tribal region where the military has been battling homegrown insurgents with links to the Taliban. “One lady worker was killed and another wounded in the attack on the first day of a three-day campaign meant for areas on the outskirts of Peshawar,” local police official Shafiullah told AFP. An official in the city’s Lady Reading hospital confirmed the death.

The World Health Organisation suspended its polio eradication campaign in Peshawar after the killing. WHO spokesperson Maryam Younas said the organisation was temporarily suspending its polio vaccination drive in Peshawar.

“Operations will remain suspended in Peshawar until the security situation returns to normal,” she said.

The attack comes on the first day of the anti-polio campaign in Peshawar. Local residents said the team was administering drops in the absence of any security escort. Police officials, however, said the local population requested the police to avoid escort as it would endanger the workers’ lives.

Attacks on anti-polio teams began after media revelation that a Pakistani physician, Dr Shakeel Afridi, used a fake vaccination campaign to help US Central Intelligence Agency track down al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

Meanwhile, anti-polio vaccination campaign was also suspended in parts of Gaddap Town of Karachi on Tuesday after militants’ threats. According to the Health Department, the Finance Ministry has refused to release Rs 690 million to buy anti-measles vaccine. As a result, the Health Department has postponed the campaign which was scheduled to start in June.

Indian gov't to intensify anti-Naxalite operations
The Indian government on Tuesday said that anti-Naxalite operations in affected states, including the central state of Chhattisgarh, would be stepped up through the deployment of more paramilitary security forces and modern weapons, but ruled out using the Army to tackle the left-wing insurgency.

"We will coordinate with Naxal-hit states adjoining Chhattisgarh and forces and modern weapons would be provided by the central government for anti-Naxalite operations," Indian Home Secretary R.K. Singh told the media in state capital Raipur. However, he has ruled out using the Indian Army to flush out the left-wing rebels from at least seven states where Naxalites are active.

"We will not involve the Army. There is no need to call the Army. Neither have we asked them. But we will send more ( paramilitary) forces," Singh added.

The home secretary's statement came barely two days after the government ordered the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to probe Saturday's brutal attacks on a convoy of India's ruling Congress party by the left-wing rebels in Chhattisgarh, in which 25 people were killed and 32 injured.

A group of 250 armed Naxalites ambushed the convoy at Dharba valley through which it was traveling following a party's campaign rally, wiping out the entire top Congress leadership of the state, including Chhattisgarh's party chief Nandkumar Patel, his son, and local leader Mahendra Karma who had ignited a campaign against the left-wing rebels.

The Naxalites have been operating in at least seven Indian states, including Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh, for the last 40 years.

The Indian prime minister had earlier described Naxalite insurgency as the country's biggest internal security threat.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Lebanese Soldiers killed at East Bekaa checkpoint
Armed men killed three Lebanese soldiers at an army checkpoint in the eastern Bekaa Valley then fled towards the Syrian border, Lebanese officials say. It was not clear who carried out Tuesday's attack, which is the latest incident in a frontier region which has been increasingly drawn into the violence in neighbouring Syria.

The shooting took place before dawn near Arsal, in an area used by Syrian rebels and their Lebanese backers to smuggle arms and fighters into Syria.

"Soldiers at the checkpoint confronted the attackers and a clash ensued which resulted in the martyrdom of three soldiers," an army statement said.

The military was searching for the assailants, who may have fled into neighbouring Syria, Fayez Ghosn, Lebanon's defence minister, said after Tuesday's attack.
