The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
province.

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) said the Special Forces of the Afghan Police killed a dangerous group member of ISIS during an operation.

The Special Conducted the operation in Chaparhar district of the province, the Ministry of Interior said.

The statement further added that the slain ISIS group member was involved in planning and conducting terrorist attacks in Nangarhar.

He was particularly involved behind some attacks in Jalalabad city, the bucolic provincial capital of Nangarhar province.

The anti-government armed elements including ISIS sympathizers have not commented regarding the killing of key ISIS group member so far.

This comes as the security situation in some districts of Nangarhar province has tanked during the recent years. Both Taliban

and ISIS Lions of Islam are active in remote and restive areas of the province.

The anti-government armed elements often attempt to carry out terrorist related activities in Jalalabad city and other parts of Nangarhar.

Meanwhile,

the Afghan forces are busy conducting counter-terrorism operations against both groups in this province.

The U.S. forces also conduct regular Arclight airstrikes in restive districts of Nangarhar to suppress ISIS, Taliban and other anti-government bully boys.

One Killed As Blast Targets University Students In Kabul
[ToloNews] Three IED blasts rocked Kabul city early on Sunday morning as the residents are witnessing an increase in violence over the past month.

The first blast targeted a bus carrying students of the education university and killed one shopkeeper and maimed at least 17 others, said Nusrat Rahimi, a front man for Ministry of Interior Affairs. Rahimi said the first blast occurred in Silo Road in Kabul's PD5 at around 7:50 am local time.

Eyewitnesses said most of the victims in the first blast were the passerby and university students. The person who was killed in the first blast was a young boy who newly joined a cycle of violence repair shop only four days ago.

Two journalists, one from Kilid Radio and a freelance news hound, were maimed in the first blast, eyewitnesses said.

Rahimi said that two other blasts also occurred in the same area and all three blasts were from magnetic IEDs.

Five security force members were maimed in the second blast which was due to an embedded IED bomb placed on a bike near the first blast's scene, Rahimi said. He said that the second blast happened almost 20 minutes after the first kaboom.

Wahidullah Mayar, a front man for Ministry of Public Health, said two people were killed and 24 others were maimed in the blasts.

ISIS grabbed credit for the blasts.
Al Ahram adds:
Four kabooms struck the Afghan capital on Sunday, killing at least two people and wounding 27 others, officials said. Among the injured were two Afghan journalists, according to a local non-governmental media organization.

The first bomb hit a bus carrying university students in a residential area of western Kabul. It was followed 20 minutes later by two further detonations at the same location, said Nasrat Rahimi, a front man for the interior ministry.

Wahidullah Mayar, a front man for the public health ministry, said the three successive attacks injured 24 people, including four women. The first blast killed at least one person. Mayar added it was not immediately clear which kaboom had caused the second death.

A wave of attacks has rocked the Afghan capital in the last week, where both the Islamic State

holy warriors are active.

Attacks by the Taliban have continued unabated despite peace talks with the United States as well as a fresh round of talks with Afghan notables last week in the Russian capital, Moscow. troop withdraw from Afghanistan first.

However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
the Islamic State group grabbed credit for three of Sunday’s attacks in Kabul. In a statement, the Sunni Death Eater group said it set off an improvised bomb on a bus allegedly transporting minority Shia Moslems.

After security forces and journalists had gathered at the site, the group detonated two additional devices, it added.

The secondary kabooms maimed seven people who had arrived after the initial attack, including five members of the security forces, Rahimi said.

Also maimed in the secondary kabooms were two Afghan journalists, Ahmad Jawed Kargar and Mohammad Faseh Mutawakil, according to Nai, a media organization that supports open media in Afghanistan.

Kargar, a photographer for the European Pressphoto Agency, confirmed he was injured in a video he posted to social media while being taken to the hospital. Epa did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Nai said the second journalist had been lightly maimed.

Late in the afternoon Sunday, a fourth blast maimed three people, said Rahimi. He said that a sticky bomb attached to a vehicle had went kaboom! in a southwestern neighborhood in Kabul. No one immediately claimed the last attack.

Islamic State group bombings have seemingly targeted journalists before. In April 2018, nine journalists were killed and half a dozen maimed in a double suicide kaboom in Kabul. In that attack, it appeared the journalists were intentionally targeted by a bomber who hid among members of the media rushing to cover the first kaboom. IS grabbed credit for the bombings, but didn’t say that journalists were specifically targeted.

In a separate attack late Saturday in eastern Ghazni province, a Taliban jacket wallah was able to enter a police compound using a stolen Humvee packed with explosives. The blast killed at least seven police reserve unit personnel and maimed eight others, said Naser Ahmad Faqeri, head of Ghazni’s provincial council. Taliban front man Zabihullah Mujahid took responsibility for the attack in Ghazni.

In western Farah province, at least six members of the border security forces were killed Saturday night in an attack on their checkpoint by Taliban bad boys. Abdul Samad Salehi, a provincial council member, said eight other members of the security forces were maimed. The Taliban offered no comment on the attack in Farah.
Another Al Ahram article adds:
The events started with the detonation of a sticky bomb -- a growing menace in Kabul, where insurgents and criminals slap magnetic bombs on the underside of vehicles.

Eighteen hurt as two car blasts target Libya military unit: Sources
[AlAhram] At least 18 people were maimed in two boom-mobile kabooms that targeted a military unit in Libya's eastern coastal city of Derna, sending plumes of black smoke into the sky, a medical source and residents told Rooters early on Sunday.

Residents said the boom-mobiles targeted a military unit called Bulahati belonging to the eastern forces of the Libyan National Army (LNA) in the city centre.

"We heard the first kaboom, but we thought it was fireworks, then we heard the second," one resident told Rooters by telephone.

"We found people around the Bulahati military unit and there was huge black smoke in the sky," another added. "We then discovered it was boom-mobiles."

Meanwhile,

A source at the "Volcano of Rage" Operation said they had combed through the areas they seized on Saturday and that the fierce festivities had come to relative calm, with only intermittent fighting in Ain Zara and Wadi Rabea.

The PC-commanded operation said earlier that its forces had started the offensive phase - the last stage of the battle, to end the presence of Haftar's forces in southern Tripoli.

Major General Ahmed Abu Shahma - commander of field operations room - said coordination among all fighting frontlines began Saturday and the forces had advanced remarkably on different axes.

"Over the last hours, the fighting was very intense but now clam has prevailed with preparations for the next operation underway." Abu Shahma added, saying supplies are coming regularly to frontlines and that the forces are preparing a fiercer attack on Haftar's forces.

SHO, ASI martyred in ambush as operation launched in Sukkur's Shah Belo
[DAWN] Two police officials were martyred and four others injured on Sunday during an exchange of fire between suspected bandidos and police in the Shah Belo area of Sukkur.

A heavy contingent of police launched an operation against outlaws in Shah Belo, a kacha area, which has seen repeat operations in the last 20 years to clear it from criminals and outlaws. The forest in the area is regarded as a sanctuary for a number of known gangs and outlaws.

Sukkur Additional Inspector General (AIG) Dr Jameel Ahmed said that police were conducting an operation in Shah Belo in the jurisdiction of the Bachal Bhewo cop shoppe when hidden outlaws began firing at an armoured police van. Police then retaliated.

During the exchange of fire, Lakhi Ghulam Shah Station House Officer (SHO) Ghulam Murtaza Mirani and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Zulfikar Ali Panhwar were martyred, while ASI Shahzaib, Saddam Dayo, Ghulam Rasool and Saddam Marfani were maimed, the Sukkur AIG said. Following the incident, the person or persons unknown fled the site of the operation.

Upon receiving reports of the incident, a large contingent of police reached the site of the operation and began a search for the suspects, due to which another encounter between both parties is expected, the AIG added.

The bodies of the martyred coppers and the injured have been shifted to a private hospital in Sukkur, where AIG Ahmed visited them and ordered the provision of the best treatment for them.

Big tragedy averted in Amritsar as bikers throw bag containing hand grenades
[Daily Excelsior] AMRITSAR: A big tragedy related to militancy was averted on Sunday, when the security forces found a bag containing two hand grenades in Raja Sansi area of this district.

The security forces and the police had laid special nakas across the district, especially around the religious institutions and the main roads, leading to the city.

Police, during checking near the Nirnakari Bhawan at Raja Sansi, signalled two bike-borne youth to stop for checking, but they sped away, after throwing the bag they were carrying. Police recovered two hand grenades from the bag, after which a high alert had been sounded in the district.

Two more French jihadists now on death row in Iraq
[Rudaw] Nine French jihadists are now on death row in Iraq after a court sentenced two more to death on Sunday for joining the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. group, rejecting a claim of torture.

Fodil Tahar Aouidate and Vianney Ouraghi were among 11 French citizens and one Tunisian handed over to Iraqi authorities in January by a US-backed force fighting the jihadist group in Syria.

Described as violent and ready to die for the Death Eater IS ideology, Aouidate first appeared in court on May 27 but a judge delayed his trial and ordered a medical examination after the 32-year-old claimed he was tortured into confessing.

"The medical report shows that there are no signs of torture on his body," the judge told the court before handing down his sentence.

His trial was quickly followed by that of 28-year-old Ouraghi, who acknowledged in court that he "worked with" IS but said he did not participate in any fighting.

Baghdad has handed capital punishments to seven of the other French jihadists and the Tunisian over the past week.

Hearings for the last two suspected French IS members to be tried in Baghdad are set for Monday.

‘OUTSOURCING’ IS TRIALS
Ouraghi, who has Algerian roots, left La Belle France for Syria in 2013 and joined the al-Qaeda affiliate there before jumping to IS when the latter declared its "caliphate" in 2014.

"Yes, I worked with IS, but I did not participate in any combat in Syria or Iraq," Ouraghi said in classical Arabic, which he picked up in Egypt.

Sporting thick glasses and a light brown goatee, he pleaded that he was only an "IS administrative officer" in charge of "widows and families" of the jihadist group.

Aouidate showed no reaction when the judge handed down his death sentence, according to an AFP journalist at the trial.

He first went to Syria in 2013 and returned in 2014 with 22 members of his family to join IS, according to the French judiciary.
And what happened to them, pray tell?
Authorities also linked him to Belgium’s Salafist movement including Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the presumed criminal mastermind of the 2015 Gay Paree attacks.

Interrogated for four months, he alleged during his first hearing that he was beaten to "confess" to the charges levelled against him.

Human Rights Watch on Friday accused Iraqi interrogators of "using a range of torture techniques... which would not leave lasting marks on the person’s body".

It also condemned La Belle France’s "outsourcing" of trials of IS suspects to "abusive justice systems" and criticised Iraq’s "routine failure... to credibly investigate torture allegations".
An Nahar adds:
France convicted two of Aouidate's sisters for "financing terrorism" for sending 15,000 euros to relatives in Syria.
What generous souls the dear girls were, to be sure.

a 22-year-old Arab Israeli woman suspected of having joined the al-Nusra Front terror group in Syria in March 2018.

Rania Shenawi, of the Arab town of Makr, was arrested on May 7 upon her return to Israel from Syria, the Shin Bet said.

Last Friday, Shenawi was charged in a Haifa court with contacting a foreign agent, attempting to join a terror group, illegally leaving the country and theft. She was also charged with attacking a police officer while in jug.

According to the security service, Shenawi traveled to Syria last April, having crossed into the war-torn country from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

using a counterfeit identity card. In order to fund her trip, Shenawi stole approximately NIS 10,000 ($2,750) from her father, according to the indictment.

In Syria, she allegedly joined al-Nusra Front, which has been connected off and on over the years to both the al-Qaeda and the Islamic State

terror groups.

"The findings of the investigation of Shenawi show that she held an extreme ideological worldview, mostly in supporting the Islamic State terror group and in a deep hatred of Jews," the Shin Bet said.

According to the security service, she had made contact over the internet with a Syrian national who invited her to come to the country and join al-Nusra Front.

"Shenawi agreed to this offer out of a desire to die ’a martyr’s death,'" the Shin Bet said.

A month after arriving in Syria, she was arrested by al-Nusra Front officers on the suspicion that she was an Israeli spy. Shenawi was held in prison in Idlib until March. A month later, she was dropped off at the border with Turkey, where she was arrested by Ottoman Turkish security officers.

Shenawi was returned to Israel on May 7 and arrested at the airport.

While in police custody, on May 21, Shenawi attacked a police interrogator, stomping on his foot and kicking him repeatedly, according to the indictment.

The Shin Bet security service has in the past estimated that several dozen Israeli nationals had fought for Islamic State and other terror groups in Iraq and Syria. Most were either killed in action or returned to Israel, where they were arrested. Many willingly returned, despite knowing they would be indicted, due to the abysmal living conditions in the Islamist-controlled areas of Iraq and Syria.

Palestinian worshippers barricade themselves inside Temple Mount after clashing with police when Jews allowed in during Jerusalem Day, which coincides with end of Ramadan

Jews allowed into Temple Mount on Jerusalem Day; Palestinians and police clash

[IsraelTimes] Paleostinians hurl chairs, rocks at police following rare decision to let non-Moslems in on final days of Ramadan; security high around capital as Israel marks city’s reunification.

Clashes erupted between Paleostinian rioters and police on Sunday morning at the Temple Mount compound in Jerusalem’s Old City, as hundreds of Jews were allowed into the holy site to celebrate Jerusalem Day ‐ the 52nd anniversary of the unification of the capital in the Six Day War.

It was the first time in three decades that non-Moslems were let into the site during the final days of the month of Ramadan, which coincided this year with Jerusalem Day. Police had earlier announced the contested compound would be closed to Jews and tourists, with the High Court of Justice rejecting a petition against the closure and leaving the final decision up to police.

Police said in a statement that "a riot began that included the hurling of stones, chairs and various objects."

"Subsequently, Jerusalem District Commander Maj. Gen. Doron Yadid ordered police forces to enter the Temple Mount and deal with the rioters," it added.

Paleostinian reports said at least one person was detained and removed from the site.

Police said later in the morning that festivities were renewed and that hundreds of rioters threw rocks and chairs at Israeli security personnel.

Left-wing NGO Ir Amin said the violence was renewed after police closed the entrance to the Al Aqsa Mosque, and worshipers attempted to gain entry.

Hundreds of Jewish activists showed up early Sunday morning at the Temple Mount entrance, demanding access to the site ‐ the holiest in Judaism and the third-holiest to Moslems, who refer to it as the Al Aqsa Mosque compound or the Noble Sanctuary. Following a security assessment, police decided to let them in after suppressing the Moslem demonstration.

The flashpoint site is always closed to non-Moslems on the last ten days of Ramadan, when large numbers of worshipers are at the site. The last time the Temple Mount was closed to Jews on Jerusalem Day was in 1988, when it also coincided with the end of Ramadan.

Under an arrangement in place since Israel’s victory in the 1967 war, non-Moslems are allowed to visit the Temple Mount but not to pray there. Jews are allowed to enter in small groups during limited hours, but are taken through a predetermined route, are closely watched and are prohibited from praying or displaying any religious or national symbols.

Last year, more than 2,000 Jews visited the site on Jerusalem Day, under close police supervision.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wreckage, Captain Poindexter wished he had a cup of coffee. Even instant would do...
thousands of Jews flocked Sunday to the nearby Western Wall ‐ the holiest site where Jews are allowed to pray ‐ to mark the occasion.

Police were deployed in force and on heightened alert in Jerusalem Sunday, with tighter security inspections performed at checkpoints connecting the city to the West Bank in light of Friday morning’s stabbing terror attack in the capital’s Old City, in which two Israeli civilians were maimed ‐ one of them seriously.

The most sensitive event is expected to be a parade that will go through the streets of the Old City in the afternoon and is frequently marked by tension with local Paleostinians.

Many streets in the city center will be closed off between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. to accommodate the parade and other festivities.

The so-called Flag March, in which primarily religious teenagers march through the Old City decked in white and blue, has raised tensions over its route through the Moslem Quarter.

Paleostinian shopkeepers with stores along the route are forced to shutter their businesses during the parade, and residents of the Moslem Quarter are advised to stay indoors.

In previous years, the march has sparked sporadic incidents of violence between Paleostinians and Israeli revelers.

The High Court of Justice last month threw out a petition by a left-wing group that sought to change the route of the nationalist march.

Later in the day, the Jerusalem Day state ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. at Ammunition Hill, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in attendance.

Many celebrations and events will be held around the city in the evening and into the night, including a "White Night" concert at Sacher Park expected to be attended by thousands of students.

Israeli strike on T-4 base killed "at least 5, including a Syrian regime soldier
[TWITTER]
The Jerusalem Post adds:
At least five Syrians, including a soldier in the Syrian army, were killed in an alleged Israeli attack on the T4 airbase in the eastern Homs province on Sunday night, one day after limited clashes between the two foes, Kan news reported.

An unnamed military source was quoted by SANA as saying that regime air defenses “confronted an Israeli aggression and destroyed two rockets targeting the T4 airport,” adding that the other Israeli rockets caused the death of one soldier and injured two others.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights later reported that at least five Syrians were killed, including a soldier in the Syrian army, Kan news reported. Kan added that severe injuries were also reported and that the number of fatalities may rise.

An ammunition depot was destroyed in the strike and there was material damage to other buildings. According to reports multiple explosions were heard inside the airbase during the strike.

Iran has been moving its assets from areas repeatedly struck by Israel to locations closer to the border with Iraq, specifically the T4 Airbase strategically located between Homs and Palmyra and just yesterday a Fars Air jumbo jet returned to Iran from a possible arms delivery flight at T4.

With a large presence of Iranian-backed troops in the area, both civilian and cargo airlines are used by the IRGC as a front for military transport flights bringing in soldiers and weaponry to bolster Iran’s military presence in Syria.

The strike came just hours after Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel would not tolerate missile attacks on its territory and would "respond forcefully to any aggression against it."

“Yesterday, two missiles were fired toward Israel from Syrian territory,” Netanyahu said. “One struck inside Syria and the other hit our territory on the Golan Heights. I held security consultations following the attack, and I ordered the IDF to take strong action, which it did, striking several targets.”

The Israel Air Force struck several Syrian military positions in southwestern Damascus and Quneitra, killing seven “foreign fighters” and three Syrian Armed Force (SAF) soldiers, and injuring seven others, in retaliation for the rockets fired earlier into northern Israel.

The IDF confirmed that jets and attack helicopters struck a number of military targets in Syria in retaliation for the rocket fire, including two artillery batteries, a number of observation posts near the border, and an SA-2 air defense battery, in retaliation for the SAF rocket fire.

800 Syrian women, children to leave Al-Hol camp: officials
[Rudaw] Around 800 Syrian women and kiddies will leave the overcrowded al-Hol camp in northeast Syria on Monday and be "taken to their families", officials from the Kurdish-led administration said Sunday.

Many of al-Hol’s residents are the wives and children of Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) fighters, placed in the camp when the jihadists’ last holdout of Baghouz, Deir ez-Zor province was captured by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in March.

Among the camp’s 74,000 residents, an estimated 30,000 are Syrian. The rest are a mixture of Iraqis and other foreign nationals. Women and children make up around 90 percent of the camp population.

"It is the (Kurdish) administration’s duty to its people to play a role in the rehabilitation of these women and kiddies, and their reintegration into society," Abdul Hamid al-Mahbash, an official of the Autonomous Administration (AA) of North and East Syria, told a presser Sunday.

The move is part of an agreement between the Kurdish-led administration and local Arab tribes, reached on May 3 at a meeting called to bolster strained relations.

The Arab tribes requested that Syrian women and kiddies be allowed to return home and rehabilitate back into society.

This first group of women and kiddies consist of residents of Raqqa and Tabqa, both of which were once ISIS strongholds, now under the Autonomous Administration’s control.

Reducing the population of al-Hol will help ease the heavy strain on humanitarian services, particularly health facilities.

On May 30, the Syrian Arab Red Islamic Thingy (SARC), the International Committee of the Red Thingy (ICRC) and the Norwegian Red Thingy announced a new field hospital will soon open in the camp.

"The camp expanded very rapidly, and this has made it challenging for humanitarians to keep up with the demand, particularly for medical services," said Philip Spoerri, head of ICRC’s delegation in Syria.

"Many people were maimed during the hostilities or on the road to the camp, and months later now they have still not been treated."

Dire conditions and fears the camp could become a hotbed for jihadist activity have motivated authorities to speed up rehabilitation efforts.

Another group of women and kiddies are expected to leave the camp after Eid, according to AFP.
An Nahar clarifies what was slightly obfuscated:
The Kurdish administration in Syria on Sunday said it plans to hand 800 local women and children, including relatives of jihadists, to their families tomorrow in the first such transfer from an overcrowded camp.

Bomb blasts kill over 10 persons in Syrian Raqqa
(IraqiNews) Two kabooms shook the Syrian city of Raqqa, yesterday, killing more than 10 persons.

a local source informed that the two kabooms took place near Dawar al-Naeem in the city center. An improvised bomb went off first followed by a booby-trapped vehicle kaboom, he added.

Security forces cordoned off the area and started a to investigate the incident, while transferred the bodies to the forensic medicine department.

The kabooms took place after the General Command of the Interior Forces in northern and eastern Syria announced a security plan for Eid al-Fitr, including a curfew on private and public transport from June 3 to 6 June 2019.
An Nahar adds:
The kaboom claimed the lives of five civilians and five soldiers of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a Kurdish-Arab alliance backed by Washington which wrested the city from IS in October 2017, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

The attack, for which no one has grabbed credit, was preceded by a bomb kaboom that left several people maimed in another part of the city frequently targeted by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. group, said the SOHR.

"The car kaboom was targeting an SDF position," SOHR director Rami Abdel Rahmane told AFP. The kaboom took place at the al-Naim square where IS had carried out beheadings when it was in control of the city.
