[NY Times] AYBAK, Afghanistan -- A jacket wallah set off explosives after wading into a crowd of dignitaries at a wedding on Saturday in northern Afghanistan, killing at least 19 people, including a prominent Afghan politician who was celebrating the marriage of his daughter, Afghan officials said.
Leaders from the smaller ethnic groups that dominate Afghanistan's north have repeatedly been singled out for violent attacks in recent years, and the liquidations have fueled concerns that Afghanistan could splinter along ethnic lines as the American-led coalition pulls back in coming years.
The politician, Ahmad Khan Samangani -- the likely target of Saturday's bombing -- was a leading member of Afghanistan's Uzbek ethnic group. He first rose to prominence fighting the Soviet Union during its occupation of Afghanistan in the 1980s; he then fought the Taliban in the 1990s. He was elected to Parliament last year from Samangan Province, where the attack took place.
The dead included at least five other former commanders from the old Northern Alliance, a loose confederation of Afghanistan's smaller ethnic groups -- Tajiks, Uzbeks and Hazaras -- that in the 1990s fought the Taliban, which is almost entirely composed of ethnic Pashtuns from the south and east.
Also killed was Muhammad Khan, the provincial chief of the National Directorate of Security, Afghanistan's intelligence agency. One of the tasks of the agency is to determine who is behind such attacks, and Mr. Khan's death is likely to slow the investigation of the bombing, officials said.
The police chief for western Afghanistan, Saeed Ahmad Sameh, was also killed, officials said.
While suspicion about the attack at first fell on the Taliban -- the gunnies have repeatedly used suicide bombers to kill prominent politicians and security officials from across the country's ethnic spectrum -- many officials cautioned that judgment should be withheld until the investigation had run its course.
The Taliban, who often take responsibility for successful liquidations, denied any role in the attack -- a surprising statement given the fierce anti-Taliban credentials of Mr. Samangani and some of the other guests.
The Taliban's denial raised the prospect that the bombing could have been the result of an internecine feud among northerners, though officials said they had no evidence of that.
Gen. Mohammad Khalil Andarabi, the police chief of Samangan, said the bomber arrived early Saturday at the wedding hall in Aybak, the capital of Samangan.
The bomber appeared to have entered with a group of politicians and prominent Afghans from Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh Province, and then detonated his explosives as Mr. Samangani was greeting the guests, General Andarabi said.
He could not say whether the bomber had traveled with the guests from Mazar-e-Sharif or simply slipped in among them as they entered the hall.
The blast was powerful, according to the police chief and witnesses. The corpse count stood at 19 as of noon Saturday, with 50 people maimed. General Andarabi said the toll could rise.
Mohammad Nawab Sherzai, the criminal investigations director in Aybak who was helping to provide security for the wedding, said most of the guests had already moved to the upper floors of the hall when the kaboom occurred.

(Sh. M. Network)-The authorities of administration of Ahlu Sunna Waljama'a (ASWJ), a pro-government militia, have today on Thursday carried out an execution sentence against two men in their stronghold central town ofGuri'elfor killings in the past.
The pair, reportedly teenagers, have been alleged of murdering a father and his son in the town under unknown circumstances in Galgadud state, central Somalia.
"Today we executed two men charged with killing allegation. Both were publicly rubbed out by shooting squad in a square in Guri'el town of Galgadud region in accordance with Islamic law," said ASWJ official.
ASWJ gunnies walked through the town's streets, telling residents about the executions by loudspeaker and ordering everyone to attend, reports said.
This is not the first time ASWJ executes people accusing them being spies to their enemies [Al shabab] and for those who commit civilian killings inside their stronghold areas in Somalia.

(Sh. M. Network)-A senior Somali official says at least 20 Al shabab forces of Evil tied to Al Qaeda were on Thursday night killed in fresh Kenyan air raids on rebel-held camps in Gedo region, south-west war-torn Somalia.
Mohamed Abdikalil, the governor of Gedo region for Somali government, confirmed to Shabelle Media the aerial attacks by Kenyan fighter jets, saying the war planes targeted on bad boy-training bases at Birta-dheer, located 18 kilometers south of Garbaharey town, the scenic provincial capital of Gedo region.
A witness, who declined to give his name, told Shabelle Media that the Kenyan jets bombed at least 10 missiles at the area run by the Islamists early overnight at about 10:00 p.m. local time, causing more damages and losses, but didn't verify the number of Al shabab fighters killed in the air strikes.
"First we have seen two jets flying towards Birta-dheer village, and after few minutes we heard the noise of the bombardment. The jets bombed Al shabab controlled area, flew past, returned to the same spot and dropped several other bombs," said some residents in Garbaharey town.
Al shabab officials have yet to comment on the hapless Somali government claims.
Kenya has sent its troops into Somalia in mid-October, last year in pursuit of Somali turbans, whom Nairobi blames for a series of kidnappings on Kenyan soil and frequent assaults on its security forces in the border province of North Eastern.

(Sh.M.Network)- Over 500 sacks of stolen relief food were among items recovered from a terrorist training camp captured by Somali government forces supported by African Union ...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful... troops.
The food, which was meant for humanitarian relief to the Somali people, had been confiscated by the Al Qaeda-affiliated terror group, Al-Shabaab ... Harakat ash-Shabaab al-Mujahidin aka the Mujahideen Youth Movement. It was originally the youth movement of the Islamic Courts, now pretty much all of what's left of it. They are aligned with al-Qaeda but operate more like the Afghan or Pakistani Taliban... , who used it instead to feed snuffies at the camp in Lanta--Buro, 40kms west of Mogadishu.
The food has been returned to the local people.
Also recovered was a cache of weapons, which included machine guns and bomb making equipment. 11 snuffies were killed and four others captured.
The capture of Lanta-Buro is the latest in a string of AMISOM successes that have pushed the Islamic fascistiout of much of central and south Somalia.
AMISOM Force Commander, Lieutenant General Andrew Gutti, said that the continuing operations would enable aid agencies to access areas where they had been previously barred by the orcs.
"We are fulfilling our mandate to support the Somali grinding of the peace processor and create a conducive environment for the safe delivery of desperately needed humanitarian aid," he said.
Somalia will require increased assistance after aid agencies warned that the country faces another food crisis following poor rains between March and May.

The vehicle whose occupants were Mandera deputy divisional police commander Michael Mbaluku was ambushed on Garissa-Mandera road as the officers were headed for a regional security meeting in Garissa town.
"I was heading to the Provincial Police headquarters in Garissa for a security meeting when heavily armed Al-Shabaab hard boyz sprayed Landrover vehicle with bullets, seriously injuring the two coppers.
"The driver was shot thrice but he managed to drive the vehicle to safety," said Mbaluku who narrowly escaped death.
The East African nation has enhanced security measures across the country to thwart terror threats being mounted by Al-Shabaab blamed for grenade and landmine attacks on Kenyan.
The latest incident came a week after Kenyan authorities introduced tough security measures in the wake of terrorism attacks targeting key cities and towns particularly in northern region across the East African nation.
Acting Internal Security Minister Yusuf Haji said over 700 new coppers have been deployed in northeast region where Somali beturbanned goons, Al-Shabaab, have been carrying out landmine and grenade attacks including abduction of foreigners.
"We have made special arrangements in stepping up security and this involves more security personnel who have been deployed in northern region.
"We have also resolved to enhance security during church functions," Haji told journalists in Nairobi.
The raft measures came as authorities are still questioning several suspects in connection with the twin churches attacks which killed at least 18 people and injured more than 65 others in northern Kenya.
The coppers were in a group of three headed for the security meeting when an estimated 40 Orcs and similar vermin from neighboring Somalia ambushed between Omarijilo and Arabia which is near the border with Somalia.
"A group of gunnies sprayed our vehicle with bullets as we also engaged them but we escaped death narrowly.
"The driver and the other police officer were the only ones who were maimed in the attack," Mbaluku said.
The country has been subjected to successive explosives attacks by Al-Shabaab operatives in the country following the onslaught by Kenyan soldiers on the Al-Shabaab in Somalia after the militia staged a series of attacks along the Kenyan coast.
The recent church attacks incident comes amid heightened security in Nairobi after Somali Orcs and similar vermin threatened reprisal attacks in Kenya if her soldiers who launched cross border incursions in October last year do not leave the Horn of Africa nation.
The beturbanned goon group has also come under pressure from Uganda,Burundi and Sierra Leone soldiers who recently pushed them out of the outskirts of Somali capital Mogadishu and other key regions they used to control two years ago.

About 200 people were left inside the besieged Wad Nubawi mosque after many others fled from the tear gas, said Mariam al-Mahdi, a politburo member of the Umma party linked to the mosque in Khartoum's twin city of Omdurman.
"They hit them massively with the nerve gas," said Mahdi, daughter of former prime minister Sadiq al-Mahdi who leads the party. There were "many casualties" because people were suffocating from the fumes.
The remaining group of 200 were later "beaten out" of the mosque, she said.
Security forces have responded with increasingly aggressive tactics, using gas, rubber bullets and live ammunition mostly had gun sex, since June 22 when small demonstrations began at the mosque after Friday prayers, she told Agence La Belle France Presse in an interview this week.
Hundreds of youths, party members and others who held a sit-in at the mosque on July 6 were also besieged by security forces, she said.
Protests in Sudan began on June 16 when University of Khartoum students voiced their opposition to high food prices.

The Bedouin captured the American man and woman in the middle of the peninsula, where they were in a car with their Egyptian guide, almost a month after rustics briefly kidnapped a tourist from Singapore.

Two American tourists kidnapped near the Red Sea resort of Dahab in May were released after less than 24 hours in captivity.
All of the previous hostages have been released unhurt.
Bedouins living in the Sinai, where most of Egypt's luxury resorts are concentrated, had long been marginalized under the regime of Hosni Mubarak ...The former President-for-Life of Egypt, dumped by popular demand in early 2011... , and the security situation there has been tense since his ouster in February last year.

What is it, about every couple of months some dipsticks get into trouble for going into an area that is known to be crime ridden and/or anti-American. I wished they'd send Jimmy Carter out into the Sinai to get them back. You'd have to do it at gun point though since he won't go unless he stays at the equivalent of a 5 star hotel with a wet bar in the room.
The family of a Dorchester pastor is praying for his safe return from captivity in Egypt, after he and an Everett woman and their tour guide were kidnapped while traveling on a religious mission.
Michel Louis, 61, pastor of the Free Pentecostal Church of God, appears to be all right but has diabetes and may require medical attention before long, his son said.
“We’re all in good spirits because we know the God we serve is in control of the matter,” his son, Jean Louis, the church’s youth pastor, said.
He said his father was on an annual mission to Israel with a group of clergy. Jean Louis confirmed the identity of the female captive as Lisa Alphonse of Everett.

RUMANGABO, DR Congo: Mutinous soldiers in DR Congo's eastern Kivu region who handed their occupied towns back to police and UN peacekeepers gave government troops an ultimatum yesterday to withdraw from the settlements.
The M23 movement said in a statement that having handed over the towns of Kiwandja and Rutshuru in Nord-Kivu province to the police and UN peacekeepers, the return of government forces there was "unacceptable."
"This act of provocation is a challenge against our forces who chased them out of there" and a humiliation for local people who were subjected to abuse, said the statement. Failing that, the statement added, "they will be held responsible for all the consequences relative to their presence."
A rebel spokesman threatened the mutineers would return to chase the army out if it did not withdraw. "If their forces are there, we are going to retake those towns," M23's Vianney Kazarama told AFP.
The ultimatum came a day after UN and government forces used helicopter gunships against the rebels' positions after fears the mutineers were threatening the main eastern city of Goma. Three UN helicopters and two from the Congolese army fired heavy ammunition and rockets at rebel positions in Nkokwe and Bukima, two towns in the south-east of Virunga national park, 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of Goma.
That's why the rebels want the army out -- the choppers are murdering them...
The helicopter attacks followed a series of key gains by the rebel soldiers. On July 6, they captured Bunagana, the main crossing point into Uganda, after clashes with the army. Two days later they took Rutshuru, which lies 70 kilometers north of Goma, the capital of Nord-Kivu province.
While the mutineers have pulled out of some towns they captured, they still control Bunagana. An AFP correspondent also saw some half-dozen of them Friday in the town of Rumangabo, 50 kilometers north of Goma, though the rebels said they had withdrawn from the area.
Congolese government troops recaptured Rutshuru and other towns in the region earlier this week.
UN peacekeepers and the army have set up a protective perimeter north of Goma.
The rebels however insist that their objective is to force negotiations with the Congolese government -- not to capture the regional capital.
The M23 is led by Bosco Ntaganda, nicknamed the "Terminator," who is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for recruiting child soldiers a decade ago. The ICC sentenced his co-accused and former boss Thomas Lubanga to 14 years in jail on Tuesday.
The mutineers are Tutsi ex-rebels who were integrated into the regular army in 2009 as part of a peace deal that followed their failed 2008 offensive on Goma, under the command of Tutsi leader Laurent Nkunda. But they mutinied in April, demanding better pay and the full implementation of the March 23, 2009 peace deal for which they are named.
Some commentators however argue that Ntaganda and his men are actually flexing their military muscle to clinch further rights over the area's lucrative mines.
The DR Congo government and a UN panel of sanctions experts have said Rwanda is supplying arms and fighters to the rebels. Rwanda has denied involvement and in turn accuses Kinshasa of renewing cooperation with Rwandan Hutu rebels who have been based in eastern DRC since the 1994 Rwandan genocide.

[An Nahar] A jacket wallah in north Nigeria tried to assassinate a key Islamic leader outside his mosque after Friday prayers but missed his target and killed five others, police said.
The attempt to kill Umar Garbai el-Kanemi, who carries the title of Shehu of northeastern Borno state, was likely to be blamed on Islamist group Boko Haram ... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality... , who have launched a wave of attacks in Nigeria.
The radical group has long stated their loathing for Kanemi, a hugely popular symbol of Islamic tradition in Nigeria's mainly Mohammedan north.
"A lone suicide bomber went kaboom!" while targeting some dignitaries coming back from the Friday prayers near the Shehu's palace," said Bala Hassan, the police commissioner in Borno.
"Five people have been killed," he added, confirming the blast in the state capital Maiduguri, where Boko Haram is believed to be based.
The state's deputy governor Zannah Mustapha said he was standing next to the Shehu when the bomber approached and that both narrowly escaped death.
"It was God that saved me and the Shehu, otherwise we would have been dead by now," he told Agence La Belle France Presse.
The two were standing among others after prayers at the mosque near the Shehu's palace when a young man of roughly 16 years of age approached.
"I heard a loud blast and it dawned on me that the young man had detonated a bomb. Luckily neither me nor the Shehu was injured, but our robes were splattered with human flesh and blood," Mustapha said.
Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa of the military's Joint Task Force in Borno said the blast went off at roughly 2:10 pm and that two soldiers assigned to guard Kanemi were "critically injured" in the attack.
The bomber killed himself, in addition to the five worshippers, the military and police said.
No group has claimed the attack, but Boko Haram has targeted the Shehu in the past and claimed the liquidation last year of Kanemi's brother.
Boko Haram has said it wants to create an Islamic state in northern Nigeria and has disowned traditional religious leader like Kanemi for allowing themselves to be ruled by Nigeria's secular government.
In a statement released on Monday, the group also vowed to "continue to hunt for government officials, wherever they are."
Boko Haram has operated in Nigeria since 2002 but intensified their attacks in 2009 and has claimed attacks killing more than 1,000 people since.
Attacks on mosques are rare as the group has typically targeted security services, symbols of authority and Christians, often during Sunday prayers.
Some have warned that the Islamists are trying to provoke a religious war in Africa's most populous country, roughly divided between a mainly Mohammedan north and mostly Christian south.

[Yemen Post] The deadly terrorist bombing which targeted some students of the Police Academy on Wednesday afternoon has left more than 10 students killed and 19 others maimed, of whom 4 at death's doors, the Interior Ministry said in a statement posted on its website.
"While on their way to their homes to spend the weekend, a terrorist threw a belt packed with explosives at them, turning their happiness for holiday into an occasion for grief and mourning. The bomber himself sustained major injuries but did not die on the spot," Tawfiq al-Wajih, the head of Bab al-Yemen Police Station, told Yemen Post.
"We think that he threw the belt because he did not die immediately. The bomber died hours after he was being transferred to the hospital," He added, questioning the sense of the Orcs and similar vermin who carry out such attacks against youths on their prime for no reason or crime they committed.
While many eyewitnesses asserted the bomber was on a cycle of violence, others said he was dropped off from a Salon car.
The kaboom site was very crowded as it occurred in one of Sana'a's most populated areas, al-Safia. Hundreds of people rushed to the kaboom site, prompting the riots police to disperse them using water canons.
Furthermore, the officials and scene of the crimeSherlocks seemed to be confused with some of them exchanging insults and starting fights. The head of the Interior Ministry scene of the crime investigation unit engaged in a raw and was about to be involved in a fist fighting with a high-ranking intelligence officer wearing civilian clothes. Soldiers managed to separate the two officials.
Minister of Interior, Abdul-Kader Qahtan was seen at the site as he paid a very short visit and left after the head of the Academy briefed him on what happened.
Abdul-Karim Ahmed, a student in the Police Academy, said, "We were excited and happy that we were dismissed for the weekend. But as I was preparing to leave, I heard a big kaboom at the back gate of the academy. I rushed to the scene and found my friends' limbs and blood scattered there."
"The bomber was alive. He had only lost a hand and a leg but he looked miserable." He continued, with sadness and shock evident on his face.
Many officials said that the attack bears the hallmarks of al-Qaeda, but up to this present moment the terrorist network has not grabbed credit for the attack.

[Yemen Post] At least three central security soldiers were maimed after unidentified armed people fired mortars on the central security camp in the Khour Maksar district in Yemen's port city of Aden on Friday, the interior ministry reported.
Four mortars landed inside the camp wounding the three members and now deputy interior minister has ordered to investigate the incident and hunt those involved, it said.
In a separate incident in Aden which has been experiencing alarming security disorders, gunnies fired at the cop shoppe in the Mansoura district and bravely ran away, the ministry said.
There were no reports of casualties from the second incident.
Clashes have recently erupted between fans of the Southern Movement, Harak, and the security forces in Mansoura amid protests condemning the security deterioration and tight measures in the port city.
The protesters have also called for the government to give priority to the south issue amid preparations for a comprehensive national dialogue.
Harak has been struggling since 2007 to demand a fair solution to the south cause and sometimes it presses for secessionism.
Al-Qaeda has stepped up its operations carrying out several deadly suicide kabooms in several Yemeni cities including the capital Sanaa, in what seems to be retaliation after the severe blows in the south.

[Yemen Post] The Yemeni authorities are hunting an Al-Qaeda cell including three foreign bomb makers, which was reported to have been trying to infiltrate into Dhale or Ibb, the interior ministry reported.
The ministry said on Thursday Al-Qaeda was behind the deadly suicide kaboom which targeted cadets killing ten and injuring twenty of them at the police academy in Sanaa the prior day.
The cell members included three bomb makers from Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in their national face... , Pakistain and Dagestan ...a normally inoffensive Caucasus republic currently bedevilled by low-level Islamic insurgency, occasional outbreaks of separatism, ethnic tensions and terrorism, primarily due to its proximity to Chechnya. There are several dozen ethnic groups, most of which speak either Caucasian, Turkic, or Iranian languages. Largest among these ethnic groups are the Avar, Dargin, Kumyk, Lezgin, and Laks. While Russers form less than five percent of the population, Russian remains the primary official language and the lingua franca.. , it said, pointing out that the authorities in the two provinces have been placed on high alert to prevent the infiltration of the cell and face possible attacks.
The hunt came after the authorities discovered Al-Qaeda had planned to establish training centers in mountainous areas in Dhale and Ibb after the severe blows it has received in nearby provinces over the past few months.

A Policia Federal detachment based in Fresnillo Zacatecas has left the area and is to be redeployed to Sinaloa state, according to Mexican news accounts.
A story posted Thursday on the website of El Sol de Zacatecas news daily said that the PF unit was rotated out as a normal rotation and that a replacement unit would be arriving in the area within a week.
At least one PF unit previously deployed to La Laguna region was ordered to leave last February. A number of other PF units had been moved to Zacatecas as army units were shifted to Tamaulipas and Coahuila to aid in the ongoing counternarcotics Operacion Noreste headed by the Mexican Army.
Zacatecas is home to at least three Mexican Army infantry battalions, and several permanent bases were completed or were due to be completed last spring for them. But the Mexican Secretaria de Defensa Nacional (SEDENA), the controlling agency for the Mexican Army, has been constantly shifting forces in and out of La Laguna and Tamaulipas since the start of this year, presumably to keep those deployments fresh, to give army units counternarcotics operations experience and to prevent security problems.
The Mexican Secretaria de Seguridad Publica (SSP), the controlling agency for the Policia Federal constantly rotates forces in and out of troublespots, like the military, to provide experience and to reduce security problems.
The Sinaloa deployment is the first publicly announced deployment of PF forces since last May, when heavy intergang fighting erupted in Choix and El Fuerte municipalities killing 57 by this writer's count. Since ten days ago, 18 more dead including seven Sinaloa state police agents were killed in that remote mountain area. The intergang fighting involves gangs associated with the Sinaloa Cartel versus the Beltran-Leyva, Juarez Cartels and Los Zetas.
At last report, some 200 effectives were deployed to the area including Mexican Army and Policia Federal units, as well as Sinaloa state police operatives.
In other news a total of seven individuals have been killed in gang and drug related incidents in Zacatecas state, including a Zacatecas state ministerial agent, according to separate news items posted on the website of El Sol de Zacatecas.
Three unidentified armed suspects were killed Thursday night when Zacatecas state police operatives exchanged gunfire with criminal suspects in Zacatcas city. Two state ministerial agents were wounded in the gunfight. The firefight shut down the thoroughfare most of the night. Three other suspects were detained following the firefight. One Zacatecas ministerial agent, Horacio de la Cruz, died following the gun battle.
Last Monday night two unidentified individuals were executed in Guadalupe by armed suspects. The victims were said to have a nexus with organized crime and the executions probably stemmed from rivalries between two local drug gangs. The shooting took place in front of a convenience store in Las Quintas colony at around 2200 hrs.
One unidentified man was shot to death in Zacatecas city Thursday night. The victim was shot once in the head and once in the chest on Avenida Garcia Salinas near the Oxxo convenience store. The report said the victim had been working as a lookout for a local drug gang.

A Muslim activist from Quebec was charged with supporting terrorism on Friday after an RCMP investigation linked her to an alleged plot to smuggle weapons to Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Mouna Diab was charged with committing a crime "for the benefit of, at the direction of, or in association with a terrorist group," according to the RCMP in a statement. She faces a possible life sentence if convicted.
She was arrested at Montreal's Trudeau airport last year and accused of violating an international arms embargo targeting Lebanon but, on Friday, police added the far more serious terrorism charge.

"The corpse count in the blast has risen to six," local police official Wazir Khan Nasir told Agence La Belle France Presse.
He said the bomb had been planted on a bicycle, adding that those killed in the attack also included a young girl while six others were maimed.
A police surgeon at a local hospital, Ghulam Haider, also confirmed the new toll.
Balochistan is one of the most deprived areas of Pakistain where Baluch rebels rose up in 2004, demanding political autonomy and a greater share of profits from the oil, gas and mineral resources in the region.

[Dawn] Another office-bearer of the Awami National Party on Thursday morning was bumped off near Mazar-e-Quaid only hours after the killing of two local leaders of the party in Nazimabad, leading to violent protests on Shahrah-e-Hakeem Ibne Sina, said police and party sources.
Earlier this week, three men belonging to the same party were killed in separate gun attacks, including the one on a car of the Sindh ANP joint
secretary, in the city.
The joint secretary remained unhurt.
On Thursday morning, the police said, Taj Mohammad, 30, was rubbed out in front of Bloody Karachi ...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It may be the largest city in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous... The shooting caused a pile-up on the busy road as motorists slammed on the brakes. The attackers escaped on a cycle of violence in front of the crowd of onlookers.
Soldier Bazaar SDPO Qaiser Ali Shah said that the victim was targeted while he was returning on a motorbike from the city courts where he had gone in connection with the hearing of two cases of extortion and possessing an illegal weapon against him. The victim was rushed to the Civil Hospital Bloody Karachi where he was pronounced dead. He's dead, Jim! on arrival.
The SDPO quoted hospital sources as saying that the victim was shot twice in the head.
Sindh ANP General Secretary Bashir Jan said that Taj was returning from the city courts when he was targeted near the Numaish intersection.
He said someone at the hospital called the victim's relatives informing them about the incident.
The slain victim was an office-bearer of the ANP old Sabzi Mandi ward, added Mr Jan. Tension gripped parts of the city following the murder, especially the old Sabzi Mandi area where shops and business remained closed during the day.
Additional police deployment was made in the area to avert any untoward incident.
The dear departed was a resident of Welfare Society, University Road, said the police.
In the early hours of Thursday, two ANP office-bearers were killed in Nazimabad.
Liaquatabad SP said that both the victims were having dinner at an eatery in Nazimabad No 3 where two gunnies riding a cycle of violence came and shot them in the head before speeding away.
An ANP front man said both the men were office-bearers of the district central of the party's organizational structure.
The killings had caused a breakdown of law and order on a road leading from Nazimabad to SITE where a few stalls were set on fire by angry protesters.
Earlier, an ex-president of the ANP was killed in North Nazimabad when he was driving alone in his car on Shahrah-e-Noor Jehan.
The murder was followed by a daylong law and order situation on Shahrah-e-Noor Jehan.

[An Nahar] Two people were killed and 16 others maimed in five separate attacks in Iraq on Friday, security and medical officials said.
In Storied Baghdad ...located along the Tigris River, founded in the 8th century, home of the Abbasid Caliphate... , a police major's mother was killed and his father was maimed when a bomb detonated inside their house in the western neighborhood of Ghazaliyah.
"A bomb detonated inside the house of police Major Amjad Hameed, killing his mother and wounding his father," said a police official.
A medical official in Kadhimiyah hospital confirmed receiving the body of the mother.
In Tarmiyah, north of Storied Baghdad, a bomb maimed five people, a security official and a doctor at Kadhimiyah hospital said.
In Tuz Khurmatu, also north of Storied Baghdad, gunnies murdered a civilian and stole his car, a police official said.
Doctor Hussein Abdullah from the town's hospital confirmed the death.
Ten other civilians, including two children, a woman and a man from one family were maimed in three separate attacks in Kirkuk province, northern Iraq, security and medical officials said.
The latest violence comes amid a spike in attacks, with Iraq suffering a wave of unrest in June. At least 282 people were killed, according to an Agence La Belle France Presse tally, though government figures said 131 Iraqis died.
While violence in Iraq has declined dramatically since its peak in 2006-2007, attacks remain common across the country.

[Jerusalem Post] In 2 separate incidents, IDF forces fire upon Paleostinians trying to infiltrate Sinai, Gazoo borders; no Israelis maimed.
In two separate incidents along Israel's southern borders on Friday, IDF forces fired upon Paleostinians trying to infiltrate into the country, killing two and wounding one.
In the first incident, which took place in the early hours of morning, a border police force fired upon two men trying to cross the Sinai border. The officers confirmed direct hits on the suspects.
IDF medics who arrived at the scene pronounced one of the suspects dead, and a helicopter was called to rush the second to nearby hospital, where he was being treated for his wounds.
"Israeli border police identified two suspects infiltrating Israel through the Israel-Egypt border," an IDF spokeswoman said. "When they failed to heed orders to stop, the troops fired at the suspects."
In the second incident, which occurred in the afternoon, a Paleostinian approached the northern border fence in the Gazoo Strip and shot up Israeli soldiers. The IDF force returned fire, confirming a direct hit.
The IDF said that the man was in an area frequently used by Orcs and similar vermin to launch attacks into Israel.
The incidents came just one day after the Israeli air force and armored brigades carried out two separate operations against terror groups in Gazoo, killing at least one and maimed another five. The IDF said that the operations were executed against Orcs and similar vermin preparing to launch high-trajectory weapons and anti-tank missiles at Israelis.
Earlier this week, a Gazoo sniper fired 10 bullets at Israeli cars south of Ashkelon, damaging a vehicle and a nearby restaurant. A photograph provided by the IDF showed that the sniper bullets shattered the back windscreen of one of the cars, leaving broken glass on the car seat of a seven-month-old baby.
[An Nahar] A Paleostinian was killed on Friday when Israeli troops shot him in an area near the border in the northern Gazoo Strip, medical sources said.
Ashraf al-Qudra, a front man for Gazoo's emergency services, confirmed a man in his early 20s was rubbed out by troops near the border, but said they had not yet been able to retrieve his body.
A spokeswoman for the Israeli military said troops had opened fire on an armed Paleostinian, saying he had fired at them first.
"A Paleostinian shot up Israeli troops not far from the security barrier separating Israel from the northern Gazoo Strip, and they responded by firing in his direction," she said.

When helicopter pilot Ahmad Trad decided he wanted to defect from the Syrian air force earlier this year, he realized it wasn't going to be easy. His Damascus air base was closely monitored, he was sure his phone was tapped and he suspected that one in every three of his colleagues was spying for the government. Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean somebody isn't after you!
He also confronted the dilemma that he and other defectors say is the biggest deterrent to those who would like to abandon the Syrian regime but have not yet dared: the safety of his family. Slipping away from his base was one thing, but it was just as important for Trad, 30, to make sure his relatives would not be targeted for revenge attacks once he was gone.
His misgivings hardened into resolve in February, when his deputy commander was suddenly and publicly detained on the base. Like Trad, the deputy commander was a Sunni, and the officers who detained him were Alawites. Interesting short story how he got out.

In Hama, scores of protesters rolled their eyes, jumped up and down, and hollered poorly rhymed slogans real loud and carried posters in honor of those killed at Treimsa, according to amateur video posted on YouTube.
Some carried Syrian independence flags amid chants demanding the fall of Assad. Others chanted: "O Treimsa, we are with you to the death."
In Hama, one protester held up a sign reading: "Kofi Annan: There is no longer any room for your initiative, you are the reason for the massacres, and you are the one protecting the Hulago regime with your failed plan," in reference to a 13th century Mongol ruler, grandson of Genghis Khan.
In rebel-held Rastan, scores of people gathered inside a hall as regime forces shelled the besieged town, calling for "the fall of Assad and Annan."
There was also violence elsewhere, including various districts of Damascus, the Observatory said, adding that seven civilians -- including a child -- were killed in the capital on Friday.

(SANA) -- A car exploded on Friday on al-Mazzeh highway near the area leading to Kafrsouseh causing material damage only.
The explosion was caused by the blast of an explosive device planted in the Mercedes car by an armed terrorist.
SANA reporter quoted a source at Damascus Police Department as saying that the car was parked on the roadside and was remotely detonated in an area that witnesses heavy traffic movement.
Law-enforcement Member Martyred in Deir Ezzor
A law-enforcement member was martyred in a clash between authorities and an armed terrorist group which attacked citizens and law-enforcement forces in Deir al-Ateeq neighborhood in Deir Ezzor City.

SANA reporter quoted a source in the province as saying that the two explosive devices weighed 100 kg and were set ready to blow up the bridge leading to al-Treimseh town.
Tens of terrorists overrun the village of al-Treimseh in Hama Countryside on Thursday morning, committing a massacre in which more than 50 civilians were killed and tens were injured before the security authorities arrived, according to eye witnesses who spoke to the Syrian TV.
3 security personnel were martyred during the clashes, according to SANA reporter in Hama.
Workshop for Making Explosive Devices Seized in Farms in Daraa
In Daraa, after having been informed by the inhabitants, the authorities seized a workshop for making explosive devices in the farms between Daraa al-Balad and Nasib town.
According to a source in the province, the workshop was found to include 125 explosive devices of various weights.
Two Terrorists Killed in Bus Explosion on Aleppo-Homs Road
In the province of Aleppo, two terrorists were killed in an explosion of a micro bus they were using in transporting explosives on Aleppo-Homs road near the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA).
SANA reporter cited a source in the province as saying that the bus was laden with an amount of explosives that exploded on the road near the abovementioned site killing the two terrorists who were inside the bus.
The reporter said that no injuries among the passersby were reported.
The Authorities Clash with Terrorists in al-Qseir, Homs
The authorities in Homs countryside confronted an armed terrorist groups that was attacking the law enforcement forces in al-Abboudiyeh in al-Qseir countryside.
According to a source in the province, the clash resulted in heavy losses among the terrorists and injury among the authorities' members.
After receiving information from the inhabitants, the authorities raided several dens for the armed terrorist groups in the countryside of al-Qseir, killing and injuring a number of terrorists and seizing weapons and ammunition.

(SANA) -- Four members of the terrorist groups that were active in the town of al-Treimseh said that the hard boyz -- who included non-Syrians of Arab nationalities -- spread across the town before the army entered it, and that this was based on orders they received to attack law-enforcement forces and prevent civilians from going to work.
In confessions televised by the Syrian TV, terrorist Hikmat Shihadeh al-Mustafa al-Younes, a local of al-Treimseh, said that he joined a group of 16 gunnies led by Manhal Darwish, and that they gathered in town along with around 250 gunnies.
He said that orders were given to them to attack law-enforcement forces checkpoint, preventing state employees from going to work, and forcing people to strike, but they were surprised when security forces arrived and they were ordered to prevent them from entering the town and fighting them.
Al-Younes said that he and his cohorts had assorted weapons including automatic rifles, sniper rifles, RPG launchers, and hand grenades, and that snipers were stationed on rooftops.
He said that the leader of his group was killed along with many gunnies in the clash with security forces, which lasted about an hour and a half, which is why he turned himself over when security forces instructed them to surrender via loudspeakers.
For his part, terrorist Sa'ed Darwsih, another local and a policeman, said that while he was spending vacation time in his home, several gunnies including a man called Saleh al-Sabaoui came and threatened to kill him and all his family if he returns to work, and they coerced him into joining them.
Darwish said the gunnies had been gathering in town for around 20 days, and that their numbers were between 250 and 300 and that they had planned to attack law-enfrocemtn checkpoints, block roads and impose a state of strike by force.
He said that on Thursday, they heard that the army was encircling the town, so they tried to escape but couldn't, and then they received orders to attack the army and several of the gunnies died in the ensuing conflict while others were set to sit in solemn silence in a dull, dark dock, in a pestilential prison with a life-long lock Book 'im, Mahmoud! , including Darwish.
Darwish confirmed that the hard boyz had RPG launchers, machineguns, snipers, automatic rifles and bombs, adding that the leaders of the gangs received money from Turkey and that there were Turks and Libyans among the ranks of these groups.

He said that the gangs were ordered to engage the army forces and they followed those orders, with the clash continuing for around 90 minutes, during which Issa al-Ibrahim, the leader of Mohammad al-Fateh battalion which leads these groups, was killed.
Sattouf corroborate other terrorists' testimonies that the gunnies who were in al-Treimseh numbered somewhere between 250 and 300, and that they were armed with various light and medium weapons including machineguns, rifles, sniper rifles, RPG launchers, hand grenades, and explosive charges which were made in a workshop set up in the town itself.
He said that a man referred to as Abu al-Zahra'a came to him with an altered video of al-Qbeir massacre which he filmed after he and his group committed the massacre, and that Abu al-Zahra'a forced Sattouf's cousin Mufid Alloush at gunpoint to upload the altered video to al-Jazeera using the latter's satellite internet connection.

(SANA) -- Terrorist Wardeh Sleiman confessed to being an accomplice to acts of murder, abduction, robbery and extortion in cooperation with two terrorist groups, one of them led by her ex-husband, while Mohammad Burhan, a member of these groups, confessed to taking part in murder, abduction, rape and robbery.
In confessions broadcast by the Syrian TV, terrorist Sleiman said that she married Ahmad Dib al-Kuwaifi in 2007 and were divorced in 2009, and then she married another man after al-Kuwaifi was imprisoned for forgery for two years.
Sleiman, who was born in al-Zabadani in 1982 and works as a hairdresser, said that al-Kuwaifi wanted to exact Dire Revenge™ and asked her to lure her new husband, Jalal al-Haj Hamo, to extort him, and she complied out of fear.
She said that she arrived with her husband at the rendezvous point in Qudsaya where al-Kuwaifi was waiting with four men carrying automatic rifles and handguns, and al-Kuwaifi asked him for SYP 225,000 the latter owed him and the agreed that the money would be delivered later and Sleiman would be returned to her husband upon that.
She then stayed at a farm in al-Sabboura area for three days, where she saw around 40 gunnies, some of them she knew, and when they released her she went to her parents' house where she learned that her husband was dead, so she contacted al-Kuwaifi who denied any involvement at first then confessed to murdering him and warned her that they will frame her for the crime.
A week later, one of the gunnies, Samer al-Tinawi, called Sleiman and told her that he will send someone to bring her back to the farm, and al-Kuwaifi instructed her to comply. She asked a microbus driver to take her to al-Sabboura, and upon arrival they kidnapped him and stole his car and asked her to leave.
Afterwards, she was instructed to get herself acquainted with a man who had money, and so she contacted him and they agreed to meet at a turnpike before going to a restaurant. Upon arriving there, gunnies from al-Hameh area arrived and kidnapped him.
She went on to recount a plot by al-Kuwaifi's cousin Mohammad, Adham Burhan (who was introduced to al-Kuwaifi by Mohammad due to his "experience" which includes the abduction of a woman from al-Zabadani whom he raped and robbed of SYP 40,000) and his wife Nisreen Daro, with Nisreen suggesting they abduct a man called Firas Saqer who is rich and fond of her.
Nisreen lured Saqer to Mohammad's house where he was kidnapped by gunnies and transported to the town of Deir Maqran, then they negotiated with his family for ransom, with one of his brothers offering himself as hostage while a second brother brought them SYP 900,000.
However, some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them... after taking the money, they decided to kill the two hostages because they knew too much. The gunnies kept the money with her why they decided how to settle disputes among them.
Sleiman went on to say afterwards, she accompanied al-Kuwaifi whenever he brought weapons to the terrorist in al-Hameh because cars with women are often not searched by security foces and the army, adding that al-Kuwaifi often hid desperados in her home, and she would hear plans for bombings in al-Wuroud neighborhood and al-Mazzeh area.
For his part, terrorist Mohammad Burhan, who was born in al-Zabadani in 1985 and works as a construction worker, said he joined an gang and bought an automatic rifle and two magazines, and that he met Ahmad al-Kuwaifi who in turn introduced him to the gang from al-Hameh.
He confessed to participating in the abduction of Firas Saqer which Wardeh Sleiman detailed earlier, saying that originally they asked his family for SYP 3 millions and that two of the victim's brothers came with a third person to negotiate, but that didn't lead anywhere so they kept one of the brothers hostage while the other went and brought SYP 900,000, with al-Kuwaifi giving each of the gunnies who were present.
Burhan also confessed to accompanying one Issam Zami in his car to Bloudan turnpike, where they intercepted a car, a Ford, and kidnapped the passengers; Sultan Khattab and his wife.
He said that they stole the car, mobile phones and SYP 40,000 from the two and took them to Zami's house in al-Zabadani, where his accomplice raped her.
Burhan also admitted that he urged two men, Tarek Okar and Ahmad Burhan, to rob houses in Bloudan that belonged to people from Damascus ...Capital of the last overtly fascist regime in the world... , and they did so and stole washing machines, refrigerators, a car and several other things.

(SANA)- A military source on Friday stated that some of the armed forces units on Thursday morning carried out a "qualitative operation" in al-Treimseh town in the countryside of Hama province that targeted the gatherings of terrorist groups' members as well as a number of their leadership's whereabouts and dens which they used as a springboard for their criminal acts and a base for torturing kidnapped citizens.
The operation, the source said, came in response to the pleads of the inhabitants of al-Treimseh town who had been exposed to various forms of criminal acts at the hands of armed terrorist groups including acts of killing and terrorizing in addition to exploding a number of houses.
The operation was carried out after a process of monitoring and accurate information gathering in cooperation with the residents, the source added.
It said the terrorist groups' dens were destroyed and a big number of their members were killed in the operation, while scores of them were tossed in the clink Drop the rosco and step away witcher hands up! . Large amounts of weapons and documents, including IDs for non-Syrian persons, one of them Turkish, were seized.

(SANA)_ Tens of bully boyz overrun the village of al-Treimseh in Hama Countryside yesterday, killing or wounding tens of Syrian civilians.
The terrorists, according to eye witnesses who appeared on Syrian TV to narrate the reality of events on the ground, ransacked, destroyed and burned scores of the village houses before the competent authorities arrive to the village.
Abo Arif al-Khalid, an eye witness from the targeted village, stated in a phone call to Syrian TV, that the village of al-Treimseh lived a nightmare when armed terrorist groups attacked it and opened random fire on its inhabitants and houses, killing more than 50 persons, and exploding houses, among which the house of his cousin.
A woman and her child were killed by the bully boyz before the eyes of all the people there, added Abo Arif al-Khalid, regretting the absence of the Syrian Army or security personnel from the village.
''Had the Army or security personnel existed in the village, the bully boyz wouldn't have been able to overrun the village and perpetrate their massacres,'' said Abo Arif al-Khalid with a crying voice.
The competent security units, in response to al-Treimseh inhabitants' pleads, clashed with the terrorists, inflicting huge losses upon them, capturing scores of them, confiscating their weapons, among which Israeli-made machineguns.
3 security personnel were martyred during the festivities, according to SANA news hound in Hama.

[Dawn] Syrian government troops using tanks and helicopters Thursday massacred more than 150 people in the central province of Hama, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, while a rebel leader put the toll at more than 200.
Government troops bombarded the village of Treimsa using tanks and helicopters, according to the Observatory, which earlier put the corpse count at more than 100.
Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP by telephone that the bodies of 30 villagers had already been identified following the sustained attack, which brought the day's total corpse count in the conflict-torn nation to over 200.
Rebel leader Abu Mohamad, chief of a group based further to the north, told AFP early Friday that the attack using helicopters, tanks and multiple rocket-launchers had killed more than 200 people in the village.
Abu Mohamad said he had been in phone contact with a resident of Treimsa who told him that government forces were on hills a few kilometres (miles) outside the town.
The army and the Shabiha, pro-regime militia who are said to accompany troops to make sure they do not desert, started to bombard Treimsa "Thursday around 11:00 am (0800 GMT) and finished around 9:00 pm," Abu Mohamad said.
But a Hama-based activist who identified himself as Abu Ghazi told AFP via Skype that regime troops started shelling the village earlier, at around 6:00 am.
"That was followed by festivities with the (rebel) Free Syrian Army, but the FSA does not have a big presence in Treimsa and could not fight long," said the activist.
"The number of deaders is very high partly because the army shelled a mosque where scores of people had taken shelter, to treat the maimed and hide from the bombs," Abu Ghazi added. "But it is obvious that the regime knows no limits. The mosque was shelled, it collapsed, and that killed the people in it."
The village, which had a population of 7,000, he said, "is empty now. Everyone is dead or has run away. Almost 30 army vehicles arrived, and surrounded the village completely."
"There wasn't a single way out," said Ibrahim, another activist from Treimsa.
"Anyone who tried to escape through the fields was shot." Pro-regime hard boyz from neighbouring Alawite villages entered the village after the army raided it, Ibrahim told AFP via Skype. "After the shelling, the army came in with light weapons, and the shabiha (militiamen) followed, armed with knives."
Clashes inside the besieged village were vicious, he said, noting that "whole families were killed. There was a real street war for several hours." Treimsa is located near Qubeir, where at least 55 people were killed on July 6, according to the Observatory. Like Qubeir, Treimsa is a majority Sunni town situated near Alawite villages.

Syria's regime has blamed "blood -thirsty media" and "terrorist gangs" for a massacre in the villageof Treimsa that rights activists say left at least 150 people dead, state-run SANA news agency said Friday.
"The blood thirsty media in collaboration with gangs of armed faceless myrmidons massacred residents of Treimsa village ... to sway public opinion against Syria and its people and provoke international intervention on the eve of a UN Security Council meeting," SANA said.
The state-run SANA news agency said there had been festivities between the army and an armed "terrorist" group in the village but made no mention of a massacre and gave no overall corpse count.
"There were heavy losses among the ranks of the terrorists," said the report, adding that three government soldiers were killed.
The head of the opposition Syrian National Council, Abdel Basset Sayda, voiced outrage about the latest killings and called for a tough UN resolution that allows for military intervention against theDamascus ...Capital of the last overtly fascist regime in the world... regime.
