Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed Alani no longer employed by American Airlines
[Miami Herald] An American Airlines mechanic was arrested Thursday on a sabotage charge accusing him of disabling a navigation system on a flight with 150 people aboard before it was scheduled to take off from Miami International Airport earlier this summer.

The reason, according to a criminal complaint affidavit filed in Miami federal court: Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed Alani, a veteran employee, was upset over stalled union contract negotiations.

None of the passengers and crew on the flight to Nassau were injured because the tampering with the so-called air data module caused an error alert as the pilots powered up the plane’s engines on the runway July 17, according to a criminal complaint affidavit filed in Miami federal court.

As a result, flight No. 2834 was aborted and taken out of service for routine maintenance at America’s hangar at MIA, which is when the tampering with the ADM system was discovered during an inspection. An AA mechanic found a loosely connected tube in front of the nose gear underneath the cockpit that had been deliberately obstructed with some sort of hard foam material.

Alani, 60, of Tracy, California, near San Francisco, is charged with "willfully damaging, destroying or disabling an aircraft" and is expected to have his first appearance in Miami federal court on Friday.

According to the complaint filed Thursday, Alani glued the foam inside the tube leading from outside the plane to its air data module, a system that reports aircraft speed, pitch and other critical flight data. As a result, if the plane had taken off that day from MIA, the pilots would have had to operate the aircraft manually because the ADM system would not have received any computer data.

#1  New York Times article:

In addition to the problem with the navigation equipment, a pitot tube, used to determine airspeed, a measurement vital to controlling the plane, was also loose, the authorities said. Ice buildup in a pitot tube’s intake led to the 2009 crash of Air France Flight 447 over the Atlantic.

Probably just a coincidence, but perhaps a relook of crash data over the past 10 years would be in order. BTW, of the 14 related articles reviewed, NONE of them provided a foto or any additional info on Mr. Alani.

#2  Intentionally blocking an aircraft pitot tube?

That's different from carrying explosives onto an airplane or leaving a loaded pressure cooker on a bus, how? He's a active union man is a discernable motive?

force and the US embassy, officials said.

The Taliban grabbed credit for the attack even as the gunnies and US officials have been negotiating a deal on a US troop withdrawal in exchange for Taliban security guarantees.

"At least 10 civilians have been killed and 42 injured were taken to hospitals," said Nasrat Rahimi, a front man for the interior ministry.

The NATO-led Resolute Support mission said in a statement a Romanian and a US member of the force were killed in action in Kabul, but it did not provide any more details.

Ansarallah forces launch offensive along Saudi-Yemeni border
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Ansarallah forces launched a new offensive inside southern Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The Ansarallah forces reportedly raided the area after seizing the sites, confiscating a number of weapons left behind by the Saudi Coalition troops.

In a similar operation in the Jabal Malhmah area, the Ansarallah forces raided a number of sites belonging to the Saudi Coalition before retreating later in the day.

These offensives by the Ansarallah forces have become prevalent inside the Asir, Jizan, and Najran

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Tehran to develop centrifuges in next step to scaling back commitments
[DAWN] Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
will begin developing centrifuges on Friday (tomorrow) to speed up the enrichment of uranium, as the next step in scaling back its nuclear commitments, according to President Hassan Rouhani
...Iran's moderate president, which he is, relative to his predecessor, which doesn't mean he's anything but a puppet of the nearest holy man...
Under its 2015 nuclear agreement with world powers, Iran was allowed to keep restricted quantities of first-generation centrifuges at two nuclear plants.

But the successful development of more advanced centrifuges would enable it to produce material for a potential nuclear bomb several times faster.

"From Friday, we will witness research and development on different kinds of centrifuges and new centrifuges and also whatever is needed for enriching uranium in an accelerated way," Rouhani said in a televised speech.

"All limitations on our Research and Development will be lifted on Friday." Iran says it is only enriching uranium to fuel nuclear power plants.

President Rouhani also said Iran would take all necessary steps to protect its rights and interests, and called the centrifuge development the "third step" in scaling back its commitment to the nuclear deal.

Syrian Army attacks jihadist stronghold in northeastern Latakia
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has resumed their strikes on the strategic town of Kabani in the northeastern countryside of the Latakia Governorate this evening.

Using artillery and surface-to-surface missiles, the Syrian Army’s 4th Armored Division has repeatedly pounded the defenses of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else
...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State...
and the Turkestan Islamic Party around the town of Kabani.

According to a military source, the Syrian Arab Army is preparing to storm the town once again in a bid a to upend these jihadist groups from Kabani and the Jabal al-Akrad region.

Both Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and the Turkestan Islamic Party have maintained a large presence in the Jabal al-Turkmen and Jabal al-Akrad regions of Latakia for several years now.

In order for the Syrian Army to successfully take hold of all of the al-Ghaab Plain region, they will need to capture the last mountains under murderous Moslem control along the Idlib-Latakia axis.

Once these mountains are captured, the Syrian Army can make their first major push towards the jihadist stronghold of Jisr al-Shughour.
