Sikh deputy shot and killed during Texas traffic stop
[FOXNEWS] A Texas sheriff's deputy who was shot multiple times from behind while conducting a traffic stop on Friday afternoon has died, police said.

Sandeep Dhaliwal, a 10-year veteran of the Harris County Sheriff's Office and its first Sikh deputy, stopped a vehicle with two people inside around at 12:45 p.m.

One of the occupants was able to leave the vehicle, approach the deputy from behind and shoot him at least twice ‐ "basically just shot him in a very ruthless, cold-blooded way," said Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

Late Friday, the sheriff's office announced that Robert Solis, 47, had been charged with capital murder in Dhaliwal's death. Gonzalez tweeted that Solis was wanted on a parole violation warrant dating back to January 2017, when he was reportedly accused of threatening his girlfriend and possessing a prohibited weapon.

Click2Houston reported that Solis was sentenced to more than 20 years in prison in 2002 for aggravated kidnapping but was released on parole in 2014. His parole would have expired in 2022

Dhaliwal's dashboard camera captured video showing Dhaliwal speaking with the driver in what appeared to be a conversational tone with "no combat, no arguing," Sheriff's Maj. Mike Lee said. The driver's door was opened at one point, and Dhaliwal shut it as the driver remained in the vehicle. When Dhaliwal turned to walk back to his patrol car, the driver steps from the car "almost immediately running with a gun already out," Lee said. The driver shot the deputy from behind, hitting him in the back of the head. The driver got back in his car and drove away.

A deputy a short time later found and arrested a nervous man matching the description of the driver in a business at a nearby strip shopping center, Lee said. A woman believed to have been a passenger in the car also was taken into custody. It was not clear if she would face charges.

Dhaliwal, 42, was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital, Fox 26 Houston reported.

"I’m sad to share with you that we’ve lost one of our own," Gonzalez tweeted Friday. "There are no words to convey our sadness. Please keep his family and our agency in your prayers."

Gonzalez's predecessor as sheriff, Adrian Garcia, implemented a religious accommodation policy that allowed Dhaliwal to wear the traditional turban and beard of the Sikh religion. The deputy was a father of three children.

#4  Solis is a Spanish name derived from the Latin sol, literally meaning sun.

One account listed Solis as Latino. Is he going to morph into a white guy loner at some point?

#5  Not sure where ya’ll are going with this. Solis is a common Hispanic surname. He is just a low life that should have never been let out of prison. He was in prison for using a toddler as a human shield when officers tried to arrest him in 2002. I remembered the event because the officers found him sitting in a garage with the toddler on his lap. Now of course he deserves the death penalty. We’ll see if our Soros funded DA will follow through.

#6  Solis is a low-life and deserves a date with the needle regardless of race.

However, one can help but notice that the media is too eager to report race when it is some white guy with a weird manifesto and has a firearm.

RIP deputy. This guy had no right to take you from your friends and family.

Tank shell from Egypt damages synagogue during services at Israeli community
[IsraelTimes] A tank shell fired from Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula went kaboom! in the Israeli community of Bnei Netzarim Saturday morning, in what appeared to be a case of internal fighting between Egyptian forces and snuffies spilling over the border.

There were no casualties, though light damage was caused to the community’s synagogue. A parked car’s back windscreen was smashed.

The Ynet news site reported that there were several worshipers inside the synagogue for Shabbat services when the shell hit. Initial reports had indicated that the projectile was a mortar shell.

Egypt’s security clampdown mostly thwarts fresh anti-Sissi protests
[IsraelTimes] Thousands of police on Cairo’s streets, and up to 2,000 arrests after last week’s demonstrations, largely stifle further action against the president.

Egyptian authorities lifted Saturday some tight security measures in the capital, Cairo, a day after they sealed off the main square and downtown thoroughfares to thwart a possible protest against the country’s president.

The measures were part of a harsh security clampdown following rare demonstrations in several cities last weekend, all of which were broken up by police.

Calls for fresh protests on Friday were largely stifled by the deployment of thousands of police in Cairo’s streets, but there was a small protest of at least three dozen people on el-Waraq island at the northern fringes of the capital, which was quickly dispersed, according to three witnesses who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals.

Security personnel were visible in Cairo’s main streets and squares on Saturday but did not prevent normal traffic as in the past days. Tahrir Square, the epicenter of the pro-democracy uprising in 2011 that toppled longtime autocrat Hosni Mubarak
...The former President-for-Life of Egypt, dumped by popular demand in early 2011...
, was reopened, as were subway stations in the area that had been closed the day before.

Last week’s small but rare protests against el-Sissi marked a startling eruption of popular dissent, which has been almost completely silenced in the past years by draconian measures imposed under the general-turned-president.

More than 2,000 people were arrested in the days after, according to right lawyers. The country’s general prosecutor said his office had questioned no more than 1,000 people over the protests.

The lawyers said prosecutors ordered those who were questioned to remain in jug for 15 days pending investigations into claims they took part in activities of an outlawed group and disseminating false news.

's recent arrest campaign against Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, members has shed light on the deteriorating relations between the Paleostinian resistance movement and the kingdom amid warming Tel Aviv-Riyadh ties.

Observers told the Middle East Eye (MEE) news portal that the detention campaign, which began in February, was actually meant to target the Paleostinian cause and serve Israel.
"Observers"
Rafat Morra, the head of Hamas's foreign media department, stressed that the group had tried to resolve the crisis quietly, but its attempts did not yield results.

Hamas made "unremitting political and diplomatic efforts" to deal with the Saudi campaign of arrests, including asking several regional and international actors such as Kuwait to mediate, he said.

he added, such efforts were met with more arrests, including the detentions of Mohammed al-Khudari, who is the most prominent Hamas official in Saudi custody.

#1  ...Not impossible, but damned unlikely. The Saudi Army is approximately eighteen brigades in size, so losing three - or even having them chewed up enough to go combat ineffective - would be a pretty serious hit. I'm thinking that were it true, the 82nd Airborne would be ramping up for a deployment, and the Marines would be inbound as well; a hole in the forces like that would simply be too much for the Iranians to resist.

4 Kashmiris dead in raids by Indian security forces
[DAWN] Indian security forces killed four alleged fighters in Indian Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
e on Saturday, police said, as the disputed Moslem-majority territory simmers under a lockdown imposed by New Delhi after it revoked its constitutional autonomy in August.

Three were killed in the Batote market area of Jammu where, according to officials, they had allegedly taken a local civilian hostage inside his house.

The hostage was rescued unharmed, a front man for the central reserve police force told journalists.

Another Kashmiri was killed in an 'encounter' in Kangan in the north of the region, Dilbagh Singh, director general of Jammu and Kashmir police told AFP.

Singh also said Kashmiri fighters had thrown a grenade in the Safakadal area of Srinagar city but that no one was injured in the incident.

According to Kashmir Media Service, on the other hand, Indian troops killed three youth during cordon and search operations in Naranag area of Ganderbal and three others in Batote area of Ramban district in the Jammu region.

3 including central JUI-F leader dead as explosion rocks Chaman in Balochistan
[DAWN] At least three people, including a leader of the Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam

-Fazl (JUI-F), were killed and more than a dozen others injured in a kaboom that rocked the Chaman area of Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
's Qilla Abdullah District, Chaman Assistant Commissioner Yasir Dashti said.

According to police officials, the bomb was an improvised bomb (IED) which was planted in a cycle of violence parked on the roadside.

The explosion initially left Maulana Muhammad Hanif, a central leader of the JUI-F, critically injured. He was being shifted to Quetta when he departed this vale of tears on the way to the hospital, Dashti said.

Police said Hanif was the target of the attack.

The blast occurred on Taj Road in Chaman, which is located just kilometres away from the country's border with Afghanistan, and shattered windows in nearby buildings.

The dead include a 12-year-old child, Chaman District Police Officer Shaukat Mohmand told DawnNewsTV.

The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Chaman, where an emergency was declared.

Chaman is considered a sensitive town in Balochistan as it shares a border with Afghanistan's volatile Kandahar province.

Dozens of West Bank Palestinians cross into Israel in illegal border breach
[IsraelTimes] Saboteurs burn parts of fence, damage mechanical gate in the second such incident this week.

Dozens of Paleostinians illegally crossed into Israel from the West Bank Friday in a major breach of the border fence.

The incident happened in the area of Tulkarm in the northern West Bank near the Israeli city of Netanya, the Walla news site reported.

The border-crossers burned parts of the fence, and sabotaged a mechanical gate for the second time in a week.

The incident happened despite the fact that the army had recently strengthened its security apparatus in the area, including by fortifying the gate with concrete slabs.

In the earlier crossing, Paleostinians had damaged the gate, allowing vehicles to pass through, in an incident that was filmed and spread on Paleostinian social media, the report said.

Israeli residents of the area said the border crossings frightened them and that they were concerned about burglaries in the area. They expressed anger at the authorities’ failure to prevent the breach.

The IDF had yet to respond to the latest incident.

Tens of thousands of Paleostinians cross into Israel weekly to work jobs at construction sites, shops, restaurants and other places, where they can earn substantially higher salaries than in similar positions in the West Bank. Many are also employed illegally in the Jewish State.

Israeli security forces arrested three Paleostinian men suspected of carrying out a deadly terror bombing at a West Bank natural spring that killed a 17-year-old Israeli girl and injured her father and brother last month, the Shin Bet security service said Saturday night.

According to the Shin Bet, the suspects were members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine terror group from the Ramallah area.

Four Abu Sayyaf rebels rounded up in Zamboanga City
[BenarNews] Four Abu Sayyaf militants were arrested Thursday in connection with a series of attacks in the southern Philippines, as authorities charged six other suspected rebels, including a Swedish national, for alleged terrorism-related offenses after catching them in the region earlier this week.

The four suspects apprehended in Zamboanga City were identified as Aljiver Habibula, Omar Julaspih, Rody Marail, and Nash Amik. “They are members of the Abu Sayyaf Group Urban Terrorist Group operating in Sulu, Basilan and Zamboanga City,”, said Col. Thomas Joseph Martir, the local police commander.

While carrying out the arrests police recovered bomb-making components, communication devices, electronic parts and ammonium nitrate.

Three days before Thursday’s arrests, police and military elements caught Swedish man Hassan Akgun and five Filipinos during a raid in General Santos, another city in the Philippine south.

Charges of illegal possession of firearms and explosives were filed against Akgun, although authorities had not yet established a link between the Abu Sayyaf and his group of suspected militants. Philippine National Police spokesman Brig. General Bernard Banac said, “He is really working with international terror groups. As to what really is his task, it is still under validation."

It is believed that Agkun was working with a group linked to IS, but it is too early to say whether he had any links with the new IS leader, Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan, said Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, commander of the Western Mindanao Command.
