Cycles of Violence Kill 1, Wound 16 in Western Afghanistan
[ABC News] Afghan authorities say two kabooms near the governor's compound in a western province have killed a 12-year-old boy and maimed 16 other civilians.

Farah provincial front man Abdur Rahman Zhuwandai says the bombs were attached to cycle of violences parked in two different squares near the governor's office.

He says nearly all of those injured in Sunday's kabooms were young people between the ages of 8 and 21.

Separately, the NATO

Soldiers Kill 16 Islamists in Central Mali
[An Nahar] At least 16 members of an Islamist sect were killed when Malian soldiers opened fire on their vehicle in the central region of Segou overnight, a government official and police said Sunday.

The incident occurred in the town of Diabali, but it was not immediately clear if the presence of Islamists in the area signified an advance by the jihadists who have controlled northern Mali for five months.

"Sixteen members of the Dawa sect who would not stop their vehicle after warning shots were fired were treated as enemies in Diabali Saturday night," a security ministry official said, updating the previous toll of 14 dead.

"The new toll is 16 dead. There are Malians and Mauritanians. They are members of a Mohammedan sect," a police officer confirmed.

A Diabali resident said earlier the men had been on their way to a "religious meeting" in Mali, but did not give details.

An army officer said the soldiers opened fire as they came across two groups of Islamists who tried to take over the Diabali military post, but did not give a toll, saying only: "They were wiped out."

In remarks to the military-run 26 September newspaper, he said that the security authorities in Abyan is still hunting faceless myrmidons who are hiding in remote and rigged areas.

Clashes renewed on Saturday between al-Qaeda faceless myrmidons and the Popular Resistance Committees, leaving three al-Qaeda faceless myrmidons killed and two other local fighters maimed, local sources reaffirmed.

Local sources said that a brother of a senior al-Qaeda leder, Nadir Al-Shadadi was among the killed persons.

After the Yemeni government announced its victory against Al-Qaeda in Jaar, Zinjibar and Shaqrah in early June, al-Qaeda carried out a suicide kabooms in various governorates and killed the commander of Yemen's southern military region, Salem Qatan.

Al-Qaeda restored to use other tactics as it assassinated a number of Yemeni military commanders and officers, and carried out suicide kabooms against military and security compounds in the capital Sana'a and other cities.

Southern leader survives assassination attempt
A senior southern leader, Mohammad Ali Ahmed, survived on Monday an liquidation attempt in Al-Mukla city of Hadhramout governorate.

An explosive exploded at the vehicle of Ahmed while he was outside his car in Hadhramout.

Ahmed is considered among the prominent southern leaders, and he spent about 18 years in exile.

He stated after his return home early of the current year that he came back to struggle for the sake of the southern independence.

Yemeni officials including Deputy Chairman of the Political Security Nasser Hadi, the former Interior Minister Hussein Arab, Deputy Governor of Aden Hassan Al-Darab and other officials welcomed Ahmed in Aden Airport.

Ahmed served as a governor of Abyan
...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. , and as interior minister before the Yemeni unification in 1990.

No side grabbed credit for the liquidation attempt, but some southern leaders accuse Ali Salem Al-Beidh of standing behind the bombing.

Yemen witnesses a state of insecurity in the capital Sana'a and other major cities as Yemeni senior military and security official were assassinated, and other politicians were targeted during the past few months.

Security officials said that the authorities foiled many plans to carry out terrorist attacks by al-Qaeda in the capital Sana'a, affirming that seized 40 belts packed with explosives.

Secretary General of the Yemeni Socialist Party Yaseen Saeed Noaman survived an liquidation attempt in Sana'a last week two days after the Transportation Minister Waeed Bazeeb survived liquidation in the port city of Aden.

Yemen says kills deputy regional head of al Qaeda
(Rooters) - Yemeni armed forces have killed Said al-Shehri, a Saudi national seen as the second-in-command of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), a government website said on Monday.
"al-Shehri... al-Shehri"... Hmmm... I've heard that name before...
48 hour rule definitely applies to a Yemeni government website, unless they're showing a pic of the severed head...
The Ministry of Defense website said Shehri was killed on Monday, along with six other myrmidons, in what it called a "qualitative operation" by the army in the remote Hadramout
...the formerly independent Qu'aiti state and sultanate, annexed by Communist South Yemen in 1968, encompassing a region along the Gulf of Aden, extending eastwards to the borders of the Dhofar region of Oman. The people are called Hadhramis and speak Hadhrami Arabic. The city Tarimis estimated to contain the highest concentration of descendants of the Prophet Muhammad (PTUI) anywhere in the world, approximately seven in every square yard...
province in eastern Yemen. It gave no further details.

AQAP, which has planned attacks on international targets including airliners, is described by Washington, which has used unmanned drones to target its members, as the most dangerous wing of al Qaeda.

There were conflicting reports on how Shehri, a former inmate of Guantanamo Bay, was killed. Yemen has previously announced Shehri's death only for it to emerge that he is still alive.

A Yemeni security source said Shehri was killed in an operation last Wednesday in the Hadramout which was thought to have been carried out by a U.S. drone, rather than the Yemeni military. The source said another Saudi and an Iraqi national were among the others killed.

Residents of the Wadi al-Ain district where the attack took place last Wednesday said they believed from their contacts with Islamist fighters in the area that Shehri had died then, when missiles struck a house where they were meeting.

"There was a group of people from the Ansar al-Sharia
...a Yemeni Islamist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends...
group who were holding a meeting - Shehri was one of them and there were foreigners there too," said Elwi Suleiman. Ansar al-Sharia is one of a number of Yemeni myrmidon groups linked to al Qaeda.

There was no immediate explanation for the discrepancy in the accounts.

Shehri was released from the U.S. detention facility to Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in their national face...
in 2007 and put through a Saudi rehabilitation program for myrmidons. He is wanted by Yemeni authorities for a suspected role in a U.S. embassy attack in 2008.

Yemeni army kills 4 al-Qaida hard boys in Abyan
At least four al-Qaida militants were killed Saturday in armed clashes with units of the Yemeni armed forces in the turbulent southern province of Abyan, a military official told Xinhua.

Up to 10 al-Qaida militants armed with automatic rifles attacked an army patrol in the coastal town of Shakra in Abyan province, sparking a short gun battle that left at least four insurgents killed, the local military official said on condition of anonymity. The army troops supported by pro-government tribal fighters chased the al-Qaida attackers, and shelled their position with mortars and heavy-machine guns, the official said.

An army soldier who was involved in the clashes told Xinhua anonymously that "three army members were injured and a military's vehicle was set ablaze in the armed confrontation with al-Qaida militants."

A local resident said that heavy machine-gun fire and explosions are still ranging out across several neighborhoods in Shakra.

On Friday, a prominent commander of a tribal militia fighting al-Qaida militants in Abyan survived an assassination attempt safely and unharmed, but two of his bodyguards were killed. Gunmen of the Yemen-based al-Qaida offshoot were likely behind the botched assassination bid, according to a Yemeni security official.

Saudi Interior Ministry: 8 Wanted Qaida Suspects Surrender
[An Nahar] Eight Saudis wanted for alleged links to al-Qaeda have handed themselves in to the authorities, the state news agency SPA reported on Sunday.

The surrender was overseen by the families of those wanted and a center headed by Deputy Interior Minister Mohammed bin Nayef, the interior ministry said in a statement carried by SPA.

The center launched in 2006 aims to draw former al-Qaeda cut-throats away from radical Islamist ideology.

The interior ministry urged others "to return to their senses and to stop following those who seek to use them as tools."

On August 26, Saudi authorities announced they had foiled a terror plot by elements suspected of links to al-Qaeda, mostly Yemenis, and busted two myrmidon cells in Riyadh and the port city of Jeddah.

They said the suspects were working on "recruiting elements to execute criminal attacks targeting security forces, citizens and foreign residents, as well as public installations."

80 Policemen Hurt after Riot at Kurdish Festival in Germany
[An Nahar] Eighty coppers were maimed, one seriously, after riots erupted at a Kurdish festival in Germany that attracted around 40,000 Kurds from around Europe, authorities said on Sunday.

Rioters hurled stones, bottles and fireworks at police and damaged 13 police vehicles as violence spun out of control in the western city of Mannheim. Authorities responded with pepper spray. There were 31 arrests.

Police said the violence was touched off when festival organizers tried to prevent a 14-year-old boy entering the grounds with the flag of a banned group.

As tempers rose, the organizers called the police, who were attacked on arrival. Thousands of festival-goers were involved in the violence late on Saturday, police said.

Authorities also seized four knives and a knuckle-duster.
But no shutter gun. I am disappointed.

MIAMI - A prisoner was found dead of undetermined causes at the Guantanamo Bay U.S. naval base where war on terrorism captives have been held since shortly after the September 11 attacks. The unidentified prisoner, whose name and nationality were not disclosed pending notification of family, died on Saturday, according to the U.S. Southern Command, which oversees the base in eastern Cuba.

"While conducting routine checks, Joint Task Force-Guantanamo guards found the detainee unconscious and unresponsive. The guards immediately performed first aid and summoned medical personnel to the scene," the Southern Command said in a news release Monday.

Medics tried to revive him and took him to the base hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the release said. His remains will be returned home after an autopsy, it said.

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is investigating the death, the Southern Command said.

He was the ninth captive to die at the detention camp since it opened in 2002. Two of the earlier deaths were from natural causes and six were designated as suicides, most of them by hanging.

[Iran Press TV] Security and medical sources say more than 58 people have been killed and over 250 others maimed in a series of bombings and gun attacks across Iraq over the past two days.

The deadliest attack took place in a town near the city of Amara, situated some 365 kilometers (226 miles) south of Storied Baghdad
...located along the Tigris River, founded in the 8th century, home of the Abbasid Caliphate...
, on Sunday, when twin car booms went off, Rooters reported.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Report: IAF dropped 17 tons of explosives on Syria reactor in ''07
In March, 2007 Mossad agents raided the Vienna home of Ibrahim Othman, the head of the Syrian Atomic Energy Commission amid US and Israeli concerns over Syria's nuclear program. The information the operatives recovered was damning: Roughly three dozen color photographs taken from inside a building under construction in the desert of northeastern Syria indicated that it was a top-secret plutonium nuclear reactor.

According to an exposé by The New Yorker's David Makovsky, the photographs showed workers from North Korea at the facility, and the reactor, from the inside, had "many of the same engineering elements as the North Korean reactor in Yongbyon."

In the days after the discovery of the Syrian site, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert "began hosting important meetings at his official residence, on Balfour Street," Makovsky wrote.

In April, the article said, the White House was informed about the discovery. The Bush Administration felt that it "didn’t have enough evidence to justify a preemptive strike on the Al Kibar reactor, and so the Israelis began preparations for an attack on their own. The IDF, the Mossad, and the Foreign Ministry all favored a low-signature attack on the reactor.

"Just before midnight on September 5, 2007, four F-15s and four F-16s took off from Israeli Air Force bases. Using standard electronic scrambling tools, the Israelis blinded Syria’s air-defense system. Sometime between 12:40 and 12:53 am, the pilots indicated that 17 tons of explosives had been dropped on their target," according to the article.

Israel has never admitted to attacking the reactor.

Three Gaza Rockets Hit Israel, House Damaged
[An Nahar] A rocket fired from Gazoo crashed into a house in southern Israel on Sunday, causing heavy damage but not casualties, as two more landed near the city of Beersheva, an Israel police front man said.

Spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said one rocket hit a house in Netivot and caused damage to a second, while two others landed near Beersheva, a city of 194,000 people.

"There were two near Beersheva, and another in Netivot which damaged two houses," he said.

A military spokeswoman could only confirm two rockets, saying one had landed in "an uninhabited area near Beersheva" while a second "slammed into a house in Netivot causing serious damage."

According to a count by the army, beturbanned goons have fired 14 rockets at Israel since September 1.

Following the attack, schools were closed for the day in Beersheva as well as in the southern coastal cities of Ashkelon, which has a population of 113,000 people, and Ashdod, home to 207,000 people, media reports said.

There has been a steady increase in rocket fire on southern Israel over the last few weeks, with a number of the attacks claimed by radical Salafist groups.

On Saturday, a Salafist group called Mujahedeen Shura Council said it had fired two rockets at southern Israel.

Israel routinely responds to rocket attacks with air strikes, and last week, six Paleostinian were killed in two attacks within a 12-hour period.

Gazoo health officials said all of them were civilians, but the Israeli military said it had targeted beturbanned goons preparing attacks.

Two gunned down, boy loses leg in southern Thailand
A man and a teenager were gunned down and a homemade landmine blew off a boy's leg in Narathiwat province yesterday morning.

Makam Jehmae, 27, and Beedee Mareh, 17, were shot in the head and died in front of Makam's car on a local road at about 9:30 a.m. yesterday. Each of the victims was shot once and their hands were tied behind their backs with their own shirts. Police found evidence of a struggle but did not find any spent shells.

Witnesses said the victims had left a tea shop for the market. On the way, attackers stopped their car and ordered them at gunpoint to get out. They then gunned the pair down. Police attributed the killing to a conflict over drugs or the southern insurgency.

In Rangae district, Muhammadsafik Lateh, eight years old, stepped on an improvised landmine stuffed in a can while walking with two friends in Ban Ba Ngo Ta village at about 10:40 a.m. The boy was walking through bushes off a local road when he stepped on the mine. The explosion severed his left leg and knocked over his two friends. A truck driver took the children to the hospital, where the boy who had lost his leg was admitted.

Police believe the bomb was intended to target government officials.

Meanwhile, Songkhla governor Grisada Boonrach said police would seek arrest warrants for three people suspected of gunning down three women in Thepha district and stealing a pickup truck belonging to one of the victims. Police identified the suspects from security camera footage in Saba Yoi district and believed they came from Pattani province.

'Bomb Workshop' Blast Near Indonesian Capital Injures at Least 4
[An Nahar] A suspected turban was critically injured when a bomb apparently being prepared for terrorist attacks went kaboom! at a house near Indonesia's capital, police said Sunday. At least three other people living nearby were maimed, and witnesses said one of two suspects who fled also appeared to have suffered an injury.

An elite anti-terror squad was searching for the two men who reportedly escaped after the strong blast went off late Saturday in Depok, a town on the outskirts of Jakarta, said National Police front man Maj. Gen. Anang Iskandar. The incident came just days after police raided another home in Jakarta where bomb-making materials were found in connection with a terrorist group that allegedly plotted to kill police and bomb the country's parliament building.

Iskandar said police at the latest site found a badly injured man whose left hand had been cut off. Bomb-making devices were found scattered around him.

"We suspect he was making bombs when one of them detonated prematurely," Capt. Agus Widodo, a local police chief in Depok, told news hounds at the scene. "His condition is critical. We cannot talk to him."

He said the man also suffered burns covering up to 70 percent of his face and body.

Police questioned five people living near the rented house -- listed as an orphanage foundation office and herbal clinic, but never opened to the public -- including two injured men and a woman with slight wounds to her head.

They told Sherlocks that they saw two men flee on a cycle of violence just after the blast, and that one of them managed to jump a fence even though he appeared maimed, Widodo said.

"It was actually a turban safe house from evidence found there," Widodo said, adding that a group was apparently preparing bombs for terrorist attacks.

Police seized a big haul of bomb-making materials, including six pipe bombs, three grenades, two machine guns and a Berreta pistol, Iskandar said in a text message. A bomb squad team was investigating the explosives that were packed with nails to maximize impact.

The incident came amid a security crackdown in recent days in which two beturbanned goons were killed and three others placed in long-term storage
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
. Just four days earlier, police found bomb-making materials at another home in Jakarta, where suspected bomb maker Muhammad Toriq lived, but managed to escape when police raided his house.

Iskandar said there was a resemblance between Toriq and the man at death's door. He said police would conduct a DNA test after gathering a sample from Toriq's mother to determine if the identities match, adding that explosives found in Depok were similar to the homemade bombs discovered at Toriq's home.

Toriq is believed to be linked to a turban group that planned to shoot police and bomb the parliament building to wage "holy war" and establish an Islamic state.

Indonesia, a secular nation with more Mohammedans than any other in the world, has been battling Death Eaters since 2002, when beturbanned goons linked to the Southeast Asian network Jemaah Islamiyah started attacking Western nightclubs, restaurants and embassies.

Several killed as massive blast hits central Aleppo
[Iran Press TV] Several civilians have been killed or injured after an car bomb went off in Syria's northwestern city of Aleppo
...For centuries, Aleppo was Greater Syria's largest city and the Ottoman Empire's third, after Constantinople and Cairo. Although relatively close to Damascus in distance, Aleppans regard Damascenes as country cousins...
as the Army soldiers are fighting against bully boyz to purge the violence-plagued city of foreign-sponsored terrorists.

The blast took place in the Malaab al-Baladi neighborhood of Aleppo, which is located 355 kilometers (220 miles) north of Damascus
...The place where Pencilneck hangs his brass hat...
, on Sunday, state-run SANA news agency reported.

The report added that the force of the blast caused great damage to the nearby buildings and made a left a big crater in the ground. Bodies of women and kiddies were buried under piles of debris.

Earlier in the day, four people were killed and 35 others maimed after a roadside kaboom destroyed a bus in the central province of Homs.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Damascus says outlaws, saboteurs, and armed faceless myrmidons are the driving factor behind the unrest and deadly violence, while the opposition accuses the security forces of being behind the killings.

The Syrian government says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the armed Death Eaters are foreign nationals.
