Criminals ‘may radicalize youths via video games’
Battlefield 4 amongst the cuprits, but I suspect Arma 3 is one as well.
DUBAI: Authorities in the UAE have warned the public that “criminal groups propagating radical ideologies” could spread violent ideas and rebellious behavior among young people through video gaming.
"What country is this?"
"Dunno, but let's free the sh*t out of it!"

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) issued the warning in a statement carried by state media.

It urged parents to prevent teenagers from establishing relations with strangers through chat channels in games.
More importantly with your crazy uncle who lives near the border...
Criminal groups “are trying to recruit young people and adolescents through some electronic games,” WAM quoted Mohammed Al-Zarooni, the TRA’s director for policy and programs, as saying.

He said the groups identified weaknesses in their targets through conversations and then exploited them by directing them to commit crimes.

In particular, some criminals used war games to encourage the use of weapons.

Chilling Kallyanpur audio promises more bloodshed
[Dhaka Tribune] "This is Shazad Rouf aka Arko. I want to get this message to my family, Towhid Rouf ... and others ... and all my family members ... and those who support the loathesome Sheikh Hasina
...Bangla dynastic politician and current Prime Minister of Bangladesh. She has been the President of the Bangla Awami League since the Lower Paleolithic. She is the eldest of five children of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangla. Her party defeated the BNP-led Four-Party Alliance in the 2008 parliamentary elections. She has once before held the office, from 1996 to 2001, when she was defeated in a landslide. She and the head of the BNP, Khaleda Zia show such blind animosity toward each other that they are known as the Battling Begums..
, the taghut [one who oversteps boundaries] ... everyone.

People who do not support Allah’s Sharia [Islamic law] law, remember, only if you support Allah’s Sharia law, that’s when you can go to heaven. That’s the only way to go to paradise. That’s exactly what we did. We are here.

We emigrated from our homes, we had everything ... we had everything ... all for the sake of practising Jihad Fi Sabilillah [struggle in the way of Allah, including warfare]. That either we kill or we get killed and paradise is for us.

You have to understand the real thing here, that Jihad Fi Sabilillah is all about maintaining the Sharia. That’s exactly what we do.

You have to understand that you guys support Sheikh Hasina, the Murtad [apostate], you guys support democracy, that is why you guys are doing Shirk [idolatry] and that’s why I’m happy to call my family all Murtads, all Kuffars [unbelievers].

You can be safe and go to heaven ... and go to paradise. Allahu Akbar [Allah is greatest]! And remember small people ... small groups like us will get victory over the huge people. That’s exactly what’s going on. Small group of us ... we are getting Nusrah [support] from Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala [Allah most glorified, most exalted] and we are gonna defeat you, we are going to fight you until there’s no more Fitna [strife] ... and Insha Allah [Allah willing] we are ready with our weapons right now.

The police and RAB and whoever it is, all the Kuffars can come any time and we are ready to kill them and gain Jannat [heaven]. Fi Sabilillah [In the way of Allah].

Europe
Saudi Arabia cooperates with Germany in investigating attacks
[AlAhram] Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, in a rare comment on its security operations, has confirmed it is working with German Sherlocks to track Islamist bandidos murderous Moslems behind bomb and axe attacks in Germany in July.

A Saudi interior ministry front man, General Mansour al-Turki, said Saudi and German security experts had met and exchanged information over evidence showing that one of the attackers in Germany had been in contact through social media with a member of Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
using a Saudi phone number.

Turki said the suspect was in an unspecified "country of conflict," but declined to say whether he was a Saudi citizen.

"The investigation is still ongoing between experts in both countries to try to find the parties to the case," Turki told Rooters in response to a question on a report by news magazine Der Spiegel.

Saudi Arabia, though it says it is always ready to work with foreign countries to fight terrorism, rarely speaks publicly on specific cases.

Islamic State has grabbed credit for an attack in Bavaria in which a 17-year-old refugee maimed five people with an axe before police shot him dead, and for a bombing in Ansbach, southern Germany, which maimed 15 people.

The 27-year-old Syrian, who carried out the Ansbach attack, had pledged allegiance to Islamic State on a video found on his phone, Sherlocks said.

Spiegel said traces of the chat indicate that both men had been influenced by, and taken instructions from, unidentified people before the attacks.

German foreign ministry spokeswoman Sawsan Chebli told a news conference on Monday that Saudi Arabia had offered to help Germany investigate attacks in Germany claimed by Islamic State.

"Germany and other western countries have been successfully working together with Saudi Arabia on fighting terrorism for a long time," she said. Information passed on by Saudi Arabia had been key in helping prevent terrorist attacks in Germany in the past, she said.

German interior ministry front man Tobias Plate said the government welcomed Saudi Arabia's offer and added that cooperation with the security authorities there was of "significant value" but he declined to comment on the status of investigations.

The Grand Turk
Turkish gov’t says US will have to revise its stance on Gülen after Turkey’s unity rally
"Have to"? Y'all misunderstand your relative importance in the universe.
[Hurriyet] The massive rally on Aug. 7 which united all different segments of Turkish society to denounce the July 15 failed coup attempt will force the United States to revise its stance on Fethullah Gulen, the U.S.-based Islamic scholar believed to be behind the putsch, Deputy Prime Minister and government spokesperson Numan Kurtulmus told news hounds following a weekly presser on Aug. 8.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
has accused Gulenists
... the Turkish version of the Boogie Man, who set fire to the Turkish Reichsstag...
within the army of staging the attempted coup on July 15 and urged its ally to extradite Gulen from the U.S. to be prosecuted in Turkey. Kurtulmus said the U.S. will surely revise its stance on Gulen after hearing the voice of 79 million Turks gathered in Istanbul and other cities on Aug. 7.

"The leaders of the United States have to make a choice," Kurtulmus stressed, adding they will either side with the coup plotters or with the 79 million Turks who stood against the coup. "I know American officials are smart and I am sure they realize that this [stance on Gulen] is harmful to U.S. interests," he said

Turkey Says Nine Generals Still at Large after Coup Bid
[AnNahar] The Turkish government said Monday a total of 216 soldiers, including nine generals, were still on the lam after last month's failed coup attempt.

"There are 216 runaway soldiers in total from the Turkish armed forces and the gendarmerie," Deputy Prime Minister and top government front man Numan Kurtulmus told news hounds after the weekly cabinet meeting.

"Nine of them are generals," he added. Thirty runaways were from the gendarmerie and 186 from the army.

Kurtulmus however dismissed claims that some of the runaway soldiers joined the ranks of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) Death Eaters. He said this was merely "speculation" following a report in the opposition Sozcu daily that 60 plotters including three generals had taken refuge with the PKK in northern Iraq.

Erdogan: If death penalty demanded, Turkey ‘will abide’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] If the Turkish public want the death penalty following last month’s failed coup
In which the Reichstag was burned in Ankara, you remember...
then political parties would follow their will, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
said at a rally in Istanbul on Sunday.
Sultan Recep I has repeated this theme a number of times in recent days. How long until his loyal subjects make his their will known?
"If the nation makes such a decision (in support of death penalty), I believe political parties will abide by this decision," Erdogan said during a unity rally in Yenikapi square in the touristic Sultanahmet district.

"It is the Turkish parliament that will decide on this (death penalty) given the illusory sovereignty rests with the nation... I declare it in advance, I will approve the decision made by the parliament," Erdogan said.

Iraq
Iraq receives a new batch of F-16 fighter jets from US
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iraqi air force has received a new batch of F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft from the United States, bolstering the country’s fledging air force amid more than two years of fighting with ISIS, a front man said Monday as attacks in and near Baghdad killed six people.

Defense Ministry’s front man, Brig. Gen. Tahseen Ibrahim, told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that the new batch consisted of four fighter jets. Ibraim did not give more details or say when the next shipment will be delivered.

With the new arrivals, Iraq has now eight F16s in service, out of 36 fighter jets the US agreed to sell to Baghdad.
I keep thinking the Iraqis would be better off with a few squadrons of A-29 Super Tucanos. Not nearly as flashy as an F-16 but cheaper, easier to fly and maintain, and will do everything they need done.
Also Monday, a bomb went off at an outdoor market in the town of Youssifiyah, 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of Baghdad, killing four shoppers and wounding 11, a police officer said.

Two more non-combatants were killed in another bomb kaboom in a commercial area in Baghdad’s western Eskan neighborhood. That attack also maimed eight people, another police officer said.

Medical officials confirmed the casualty figures. All officials spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to release information.

No group immediately grabbed credit for the attacks, but they bore the hallmarks of the ISIS group, which often targets commercial areas and large gatherings.

Iraq has been going through its worst crisis since summer 2014 when ISIS Lions of Islam captured much of the country’s north and the west, including the second-largest city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
. Despite major ground loses since last year, ISIS still controls key areas.

Iraq heavily depended on aging Russian-made Sukhoi Su-25 jets. In 2014, the country received Sukhoi Su-25 jets from Russia and Iran to help combat ISIS.

#3  I think we would be better off to try to foist off the F-35 on a bunch of the ME rubes and see if we can cut our losses and find some way to make a real airplane that fights instead of wanders around at 20,000 feet with a bunch of million dollar missiles and smart bombs.

I think the reason the USAF hates the A-10 is because bullets are cheap and they like to spend ALL of their appropriations early.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israel: World Vision charity director in Gaza funneled millions to Hamas
Follow-up.
[Hot Air] Last Thursday Israel's internal security agency, Shin Bet, indicted the director of World Vision in the Gaza strip for siphoning off millions in charity money and funneling it to Hamas. From the Washington Post:

Mohammed el-Halabi established a "systematic and sophisticated mechanism" to divert up to $50 million over the years to the militant group, which rules Gaza, creating fictitious humanitarian projects and doctoring inflated receipts in order to get the funds to Hamas, said the Shin Bet...

To divert the funds, the Shin Bet said el-Halabi initiated fictitious projects meant to help farmers, the disabled and fishermen.

He would falsely list Hamas operatives as workers on those projects and write up inflated receipts, according to the Shin Bet. Companies hired to carry out certain projects under fictitious tenders were "made aware" that 60 percent of the project’s funds were destined for Hamas, the Shin Bet statement said, adding that some of World Vision’s budget was used to pay the salaries of Hamas operatives.

Today, World Vision suggested the amount of money Israel has accused Mohammed el-Halabi of diverting to Hamas doesn't add up. The Associated Press reports the group claims $50 million is more than its entire Gaza budget over the last decade:

Swedes demand Israel repair ship after court victory
Is that wise?
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Ship to Gazoo front man Dror Feiler told AFP that the Finnish-flagged Estelle was in Israel’s northern port of Haifa, still afloat but unfit to put to sea.

"Last time we had a person who checked the boat, it was maybe one year or nine months ago, the condition of the boat was not good, to put it mildly," he said in English by phone from his home in Sweden.

"It’s in salt water and we don’t know the condition of the engine, we don’t know the condition of the sails," he said. "We will demand that the boat will be put into seaworthy condition so we can sail."

Israeli-born activist Feiler was one of 11 Swedish nationals on the vessel when the Israeli navy commandeered it in 2012 as it neared the coast of the blockaded Gazoo Strip.

He had previously renounced his Israeli citizenship and held Swedish nationality.

The Swedes, along with activists from Norway, Canada, Spain, Italia Greece and Finland, were locked away
Please don't kill me!
and later deported.

In its ruling on Sunday the Supreme Court said the state impounded the ship illegally and awarded its owners legal costs of 40,000 shekels ($10,500, 9,400 euros).

"In light of everything that was said in the ruling, the judges... ordered the release of the ship immediately," a justice ministry statement said.
Well okay then. Tow it beyond the twelve mile limit...
Feiler said Ship to Gazoo would now file a claim for damages.

"They kept the boat for four years and now the court is stipulating that it was illegal so we shall try to get economic compensation," he said. "It’s much larger (than the court expenses)."

Gazoo has been under an Israeli blockade since 2006. It was tightened in 2007 after the Islamist group Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, seized control in Gazoo.

The Estelle voyage was one of several unsuccessful attempts to breach the cordon since 2010, when Israeli commandos killed 10 Turkish activists while defending their lives in a raid on a flotilla seeking to run the blockade.

Indonesian group behind Singapore plot has "dozens of members"
[Ynet] Indonesian authorities said on Monday that several suspected bully boyz placed in durance vile
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
on Batam island last week were part of a group that has "dozens of members" and has been active for two years.

Anti-terror forces arrested six men on Friday on suspicion of planning a rocket attack on neighboring Singapore.

National police front man Boy Rafli Amar said the group mostly recruited members online and was taking instructions from Bahrun Naim, an Indonesian who has joined ISIS in Syria.

Anti-social media: Online chats foil Singapore rocket attack plan

[Rooters] It was social media chatter that gave him away. Changing his profile picture on the LINE messaging app to a banner pledging "Indonesian support and solidarity for ISIS" probably didn't help.

Had it not been for all that, Gigih Rahmat Dewa's plot to launch a rocket attack on the city-state of Singapore from a nearby Indonesian island might never have been uncovered.

Gigih, 31, and five accomplices were arrested on Batam island on Friday after an investigation that showed how much Indonesia's Islamist militants now rely on social media, including with a Syria-based Islamic State jihadi who allegedly directed them to stage attacks.

It also underlined how militants in the world's most populous Muslim nation, once tight-knit under the Jemaah Islamiah group and internally focused, are splintering into smaller gangs loosely linked to Islamic State with increasingly regional ambitions.

"The men in Batam seem to have been radicalized over social media, specifically using Facebook, rather than directly," said police spokesman Boy Rafli Amar.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Over 290,000 Killed in Syria War, Monitor Says
[AnNahar] Syria's brutal conflict has now claimed the lives of more than 290,000 people, a monitoring group said on Monday, giving its latest corpse count for the devastating five-year war.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said 292,817 people had been killed between March 2011 -- when the conflict erupted -- and the end of July.

The toll represents an increase of just over 10,000 people since the monitor gave its last account on May 26.

Among the dead are 84,472 civilians, including 14,711 children and 9,520 women, it said.

The Observatory also documented the deaths of 50,548 non-jihadist rebels and Kurdish militiamen.

Another 49,547 hard boy turbans including non-Syrians were killed.

A total of 104,656 pro-regime fighters were killed, among them 57,909 soldiers and 1,306 turbans from Leb's Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
, which is fighting on behalf of Damascus.

The monitor said that 3,594 of those killed have been unidentified.

The Britannia-based Observatory depends on a network of sources inside Syria to gather its information on the conflict.

It estimates that thousands more people are missing or have disappeared into detention centers run by various gangs.

#1  We should always remember that Islam is the Religion of Peace.

That does appear to be a killing rate of approximately 5,000 a month, or thereabouts. Practically all of the dead are said to be other Moslems. And remind me again what all the dead were fighting FOR? For the Greatness of Allah, of course. For the Greater Glory of Allah.
5,000 /month times five or six years seems awfully slow, don't you think? Maybe they aren't really trying.
Harder hours were places like Tarawa and Antietam with 5,000/hour, that was hard work. Not piddling around 5,000/month. Moslems seem pretty laid back actually.

Almost ....peaceful. Just 5,000/month. Allah is Beneficent and Merciful.

Child beheads doll in gruesome Islamic State video
[IsraelTimes] Robe-clad youngster calls for ’extermination’ of jihadist group’s enemies in video shared on German Telegram channel

A video posted on an Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
Telegram account showcases what appears to be a small child dressed in body-covering robes who saws the head off a doll while calling for the destruction of the jihadist group’s enemies.

The brief clip was posted online on August 4 and shows the niqab-wearing child singing an Islamic State song and wielding a knife. The film was translated from Arabic by the Middle East Media Research Institute on Sunday.

According to a Heavy report, the video was released by an IS sympathizer on a German Telegram channel with the title "The new generation is raised." The Heavy report identifies the child as a prepubescent boy, whereas the MEMRI report said it was a girl.

"State of Islam, attack and defeat the religion of heresy and the gang of the military," the child, whose face is obscured by black robes, tells the camera. "Instill terror, exterminate the leftover remnants [of the army], and slaughter."

It’s not clear whether the army in question is the Syrian or Iraqi army, or both.

The child then utters a tiny "holy shit! Allahu akbar" -- Arabic for God is great -- and proceeds to saw the doll’s head off while the song, including the lyrics "My sword has been sharpened to destroy you" plays in the background.

Dropping the head to the floor, the child proclaims "The Islamic State will remain and expand!"

Videos released by the Islamic State last summer showed children practicing decapitation on dolls, mimicking the execution method preferred in the jihadist group’s propaganda videos.

In February the group released a video showing a jihadi training camp for children, where they are trained and reportedly taught to decapitate blonde-haired, blue-eyed dolls. Hundreds of children growing up under the grip of the jihadist group are indoctrinated in Islamic State training camps, in which they’re inculcated with the organization’s radical beliefs and trained to be child soldiers.
