Vieques Municipal Police seize 2,378 pounds of cocaine
[ICE] SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico ‐ U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), working jointly with the Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Air and Marine Operations (AMO) and the Vieques Municipal Police seized Thursday 2,378 pounds of cocaine south of the island of https://www.ice.gov/news/releases/ice-dhs-partners-vieques-municipal-police-seize-2378-pounds-cocaine. The cocaine has an estimated street value of $25 million approximately.
"HSI is committed to working with our federal, state and local counterparts in an effort to stop the movement of contraband in the Caribbean," said Iván J. Arvelo, special agent in charge of HSI San Juan. "Those involved in drug trafficking should know that the Caribbean is no longer an option to transship narcotics into the United States."

On Feb 7, while investigating a suspicious yola-type vessel in Vieques, HSI and CBP special agents and officers, respectively, learned that a Coast Guard air unit, while on a routine patrol, detected another incoming vessel at approximately 10 nautical miles south of Vieques.

CBP marine interdiction officers responded to the area and initiated a hot pursuit and observed it occupants fleeing the scene upon landing south of Vieques.

HSI special agents contacted the Vieques Municipal Police (VMP) with the exact location of the landing. Upon arriving, the VPM found an abandoned spider vessel with 33 bales containing 888 bricks of cocaine with an approximate weight of 1081 kilograms (2,378 lbs.). The contraband was later released to HSI.

The HSI investigation is ongoing.

Mystery deepens as cops unable to ID human foot that washed up on Vancouver shore
[Fox News]Canadian authorities on Monday said that they were unable to identify the person whose foot was found last year in a blue sock and a gray Nike sneaker that washed up on the Vancouver shoreline.

The foot, which was discovered in September 2018, is the 15th time in just over a decade that a human foot was discovered on the British Columbia shoreline. More than half of those feet were determined to have belonged to people who either died by accident or committed suicide, while the remaining third remain unidentified, according to the B.C. Coroners Service.
I'm beginning to see a pattern.
The coroner's service has determined that the latest foot belonged to a man, but have been unable to match its DNA with any databases. An identification specialist said the foot likely belongs to someone who was under the age of 50.

Chip Diller Andy Watson, spokesperson for the coroner's service, said the agency is "turning to the public for help" after exhausting all "of the available information" that was found at the scene, CBC reported. He insisted that the bizarre trend is not linked to "any sort of suspicious circumstance" and isn't "cause for panic."

Separated migrant families demand millions from US agencies
HOUSTON (AP) ‐ Lawyers for eight immigrant families separated under Trump administration policy filed claims Monday against the U.S. government demanding $6 million each in damages for what they describe as lasting trauma.

The parents accused immigration officers of taking their children away without giving them information and sometimes mocking them or denying them a chance to say goodbye. The claims allege that many children remain traumatized, including a 7-year-old girl who won't sleep without her mother and a 6-year-old boy who is reluctant to eat.

The Trump administration has acknowledged it separated more than 2,000 families last year through the implementation of a zero-tolerance policy intended to crack down on Central American migration at the U.S.-Mexico border. Government watchdogs have also said it's unclear how many families were separated in total because agencies did not keep good enough records as the policy was implemented.

In one claim , a Guatemalan woman alleges she was detained in May with her 5-year-old son in a type of temporary detention facility nicknamed a "hielera," or icebox in Spanish. When they arrived in Arizona, the claim alleges, an immigration officer told her the law had changed, that their children would be taken, and that they would be deported. She says the officer then told her: "Happy Mother's Day."

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Jussie Smollett’s neighbors cast doubt on his attack story
[NYPOST] Nearly two weeks after "Empire" star Jussie Smollett claimed he was the victim of a racist, homophobic attack, cops have yet to identify any suspects ‐ and some people in his tony reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
neighborhood are growing skeptical.

"I don’t believe it happened the way he said it did," said Agin Muhammad, who lives in the same swank high-rise near the Navy Pier as Smollett.

"I’ve been in this neighborhood five years. I don’t believe it, not around here ... Half the people are gay and the other half are black."

A patron at Lizzie McNeill’s Irish Pub, about a block from the scene of the alleged Jan. 29 incident, said Smollett’s story "doesn’t really make sense."

"It’s a lie, because Chicago is the most liberal city around," said the man, who wouldn’t give his name. "They have cameras everywhere ... Why can’t they find the attack?"

Cops have said they found plenty of surveillance video, but none that captured the incident.

Meanwhile,
...back at the desert island, Irene was indignant at the thought of doing such a thing without benefit of clergy...
Chicago police said Sunday that Smollett has yet to turn over data from his cellphone to verify that he was on the phone with his music manager, Brandon Moore, when he was allegedly attacked.

#1  ...The Chicago PD knows perfectly well what happened to Mr Smollett, and so does the Media, otherwise we'd be seeing this pretty much nonstop.

The trouble is that the CPD has sufficient problems in its relations with the African-American community that if they uttered so much as a word, there would be riots.

Patrick Church unveils boy brides at New York Fashion Week
[NYPOST] "Romance isn’t dead," declares British-bred designer Patrick Church.

For his Fall/Winter 2019 unisex collection titled "Dearly Beloved" ‐ which was unveiled on Saturday night in Chelsea ‐ he paired off his models to symbolize couples in modern relationships.

One show-stopping duo even served up ceremonial couture looks ‐ complete with a dramatic veil and bouquet ‐ ready for nuptial bliss.

"The centerpiece of the presentation were two boy brides in hand-painted wedding dresses," Church tells The Post.

The multimedia artist-slash-designer got married just months after meeting his partner, which inspired the theme, along with the concept that he describes as "feminine strength."

"Finding love has been one of the most fulfilling journeys of my life and promoting connection and hope is important to me."

North and South Korea to launch joint bid to host 2032 summer Olympics
[Guardian] Seoul is hoping to "change the fate of the Korean peninsula" with the launch of a bid to jointly host the 2032 Olympic Games with North Korea.

Representatives from both Koreas are expected to submit their plans to co-host the event at a meeting of the International Olympic City in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Friday. The South Korean Olympic Committee chose Seoul, a previous Olympic host, over the southern port city of Busan on Monday.

The decision to involve North Korea in the bid reflects warmer diplomatic ties between the neighbours, a year after North Korea sent athletes, supporters and officials to the Winter Olympics in the South Korean alpine town of Pyeongchang.

South Korea’s president, Moon Jae-in, who favours engagement with the regime in Pyongyang, has also suggested the two countries bid to co-host the 2030 World Cup. The countries also plan to send combined teams to the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Another arrest in Nishtar Hospital takes fake medics tally to eight
[DAWN] MULTAN: Another fake doctor was jugged
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
from Nishtar Hospital on Sunday, taking the tally of fake doctors caught in the hospital to eight.

Sabahat Sher Khan, the chief security officer of the hospital, informed the police that during an inspection, a vigilance team visited the emergency ward of the hospital when a man, identified as Javed Iqbal, came to a ward and introduced himself as a doctor of surgery. He also showed his service card. When the hospital record was checked, it was revealed that there was no doctor of this name in surgery department of the hospital. The suspect was arrested and he admitted that he used to get free medical tests of patients from the Nishtar staff by introducing himself as a doctor besides convincing the patients and their attendants to shift to private hospitals to earn commission.

It is pertinent to mention here that Nishtar Medical University Vice Chancellor Dr Mustafa Kamal Pasha has constituted a vigilance committee to conduct a crackdown on fake doctors.

According to hospital sources, eight fake doctors have been caught from the hospital so far.

Moody's downgrades Pakistan's banking system from stable to negative
[DAWN] Moody's Investors Service has changed its outlook for the banking system in Pakistain from stable to negative, the company announced in a blurb on Monday.

"Over the next 12-18 months, banks in Pakistain will see their credit profiles challenged by their high exposure to the country's low-rated sovereign debt and a slowing economy," says Constantinos Kypreos, a senior vice-president at Moody's.

Moody's says that the banks' operating conditions will be difficult, with Pakistain's real GDP growth slowing to 4.3% in the fiscal year ending June 2019, down from 5.8% in 2018.

Lebanese PM thinks bailing Sharif family out after Musharraf coup was a 'big mistake'
[DAWN] Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Monday made the revelation that Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri
Second son of Rafik Hariri, the Leb PM who was assassinated in 2005. He has was prime minister in his own right from 2009 through early 2011. He was born in Riyadh to an Iraqi mother and graduated from Georgetown University. He managed his father's business interests in Riyadh until his father's assassination. When his father died he inherited a fortune of some $4.1 billion, which won't do him much good if Hizbullah has him bumped off, too.
, in his meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who isn't your heaviest-duty thinker, maybe not even among the top five...
, had regretted securing the release of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf, then by the courts...
, who had been jugged
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
on hijacking and terrorism charges after the military coup of 1999.

Prime Minister Khan had met Hariri ‐ who according to Chaudhry "helped Nawaz Sharif get an NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance) from [former president] Pervez Perv Musharraf
... former dictator of Pakistain, who was less dictatorial and corrupt than any Pak civilian government to date ...
" ‐ on the sidelines of the World Government Summit in Dubai on Sunday.

Taking to Twitter, Chaudhry claimed that Khan during his conversation with Hariri told the Lebanese prime minister that word is going around in Pakistain about "another NRO[-like deal] for Nawaz Sharif".

Sharif's second term as prime minister had ended as a result of the then army chief Pervez Musharraf's coup in October 1999 and he was tried, convicted and sentenced to life in prison in a hijacking case.

However,
a woman is only as old as she admits...
under an agreement with the Saudi royal family, for which Hariri stood as one of the guarantors, Sharif was released from jail in 2000, after which the former prime minister along with his family was sent to live in exile in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...

Science & Technology
MANTIS Shooting performance system - Live fire or dry fire
[Colins Corner] It’s a two component system, first is the attachment that slides onto your pistol rail and the second is the app that you install onto your phone. I only linked to Android but there’s an Apple version too. Anyway the attachment measures the pistol movement during the trigger pull and it gives you instant feedback on what you’re doing wrong.

Like the common paper pistol target, it’s able to detect a whole host of issues from slapping the trigger, too little or too much trigger finger, pushing the gun forward or tightening grip.

The MantisX system supports both left & right handed shooters and it can be used during live fire, dry fire or even on pellet or airsoft guns. I shoot my HK SFP9 pretty well but as always it could be better and last time I went to Silverdale I tested it out.

The score target is the same as this one and when you touch the various sections it’ll tell you what the problem is. My overall score was good but I was breaking my wrist up and had a bit too much trigger finger. These were slow deliberate shots though and if i were to speed things up my score definitely would have been slower. The second picture my performance out of 5 shots (can be more or less, depends on how much you shoot) and how much movement my hold and trigger affects the gun. In the last picture the green light signifies the movement of the gun before the trigger is pulled, the yellow the movement during the trigger pull and the X marks where the shot is.

Shooting to Stop: Caliber Considerations for Self-Defense
h/t Instapundit
Almost every time we see a discussion on social media about handgun-cartridge selection for personal defense, we see responses from people who feel the need to share with us that people have been killed with such cartridges as the .22 LR, .22 WMR and other small calibers. Sadly, these folks appear to not understand the purpose of defensive shooting.

#2  I usually carry a Glock G30s or Sig 220, I simply feel better with a .45. On some occasions I'll carry a Kahr PM9 when concealment is a problem. At home or in my vehicles I use service-size .45's.

#3  Hear what you're saying g(r)om, but IMHO the best caliber is one that the shooter can accurately use with some degree of precision.

#4  I just don't feel comfortable carrying anything less than a .45. Mainly because I like confrontations to be very short.

#5  I love my .45, but it's too expensive to feed. So my EDC is a Springfield XDM 3.8" in 9mm. My wife has a Ruger LC9s in 9mm. And I'm eagerly awaiting Seismic Ammo's new 185gr 9mm ammo.

Dozens of bullet holes found in Ohio synagogue
h/t Instapundit
A synagogue in Lima, Ohio, was shot up with bullets.

At least two dozen bullet holes were discovered in the windows of Temple Beth Israel-Shaare Zedek on Shabbat, according to the congregation’s part-time rabbi, Howie Stein, who reported the vandalism in a Facebook post.
Non-WoT because ROPers wouldn't waste ammo on an empty building. They love blood.
