North Dakota Gives Up Waiting for Fed Money
Not shovel ready, or in a too-small, too-red, flyover state?
The Lake Agassiz Water Authority board voted unanimously in September to study further a $781-million water-pipeline project proposal that would deliver water from the Missouri River to communities in eastern North Dakota's Red River Valley. Another plan, the $660-million Red River Valley Water Supply project, passed environmental review five years ago but has not advanced because of inaction on the part of the federal government.

"All along, we were under the impression that the project would be a federal, state and local partnership, but after waiting five years for a record of decision from the Dept. of the Interior, we have decided to further investigate a new plan that would be funded solely by state and local governments."
Maybe it's the next project to be considered after the Keystone Pipeline?
According to an environmental impact statement (EIS) completed in 2007 for the original water-supply project, Red River Valley water supplies would be inadequate during a severe drought similar to one that occurred in the region in the 1930s. Under such a shortage, 1,200 truckloads of water per day would be needed to supply Fargo's household water needs.

However, with the Red River Valley region currently experiencing drought-like conditions, including 12 consecutive months of below-average rainfall, Koland said the agency cannot afford to wait any longer.
Now disater relief - we can get some good photo ops out of that!

Bill Maher: 'Obama Took My Million And Spent It All On Weed
With video
'At one point, Obama looked so dead, Romney tried to baptize him.'

"Romney looked like the big winner and Obama looked like the Big Lebowski. He sucked. He looked tired. He had trouble getting his answers out. Looks like he took my million and spent it all on weed."

#4  Best theory going on this topic:

"There had to have been a coordinated decision to go with the talking point: Obama was terrible. He was tired, disengaged, unprepared. Shocking! But why would Obama's supporters coordinate to tell the story that way? What a weird thing to choose to put in our minds?

Here's why they did it. Romney was so much better than Obama. Romney was vigorous, vividly in command of the facts, principles of economics, free-market ideology. Like Obama, he had a strategy to appeal to moderates, and he jumped into the moderate ground and occupied it — stunningly — with modesty and charm. He radiated competence and readiness to work for us. There he stood, the brilliant candidate, who wants only to help us, knows how to help us, and deeply, passionately cares that we need help. Wow.

Don't let that be the story! Don't look at that! Look at pathetic woeful Obama. He was off his game. That's not good for Obama — as his drop in the polls shows — but it was better than the alternative: talking about how Romney dramatically topped the President — the President, who came to the debate with all the gravitas of the presidency and all the knowledge and understanding that he has through working as the President these last 4 years."

International-UN-NGOs
U.S. taxpayers fund fat salaries, bennies at U.N.
The $7.7 billion Americans send to the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
every year helps fund a bloated staff that earn as much as 44 percent more than comparable federal workers in Washington, get up to 40 days off each year, annual tuition benefits of up to $32,255, massive housing subsidies and four months of paid maternity leave, according to a new Heritage Foundation report.

The salary bracket with the most U.N. professional employees in it earns $136,351 compared to $104,704 for equivalent civil servants in Washington, said the report, citing the U.N.'s International Civil Service Commission.

Report author Brett Schaefer explained that to determine salaries, the United Nations uses U.S. federal wage levels then adds in a cost-of-living adjustment depending on where the employee lives. In New York, where a substantial portion of U.N. employees live, the U.N. cost-of-living adjustment is much higher than that used by the U.S. government and results in a salary more than 31 percent higher than equivalent level federal worker living in Washington.

The report urges the United States to fight the U.N.'s plan to raise salaries 2.2 percent this year, at a time when federal wages are frozen and nationwide unemployment is 7.8 percent. Schaefer said that the U.N. has been on a wage and benefit increase binge over the past few years, and as a result. "U.N. compensation--already more generous than that paid by the member states to their own civil servants--has grown even more lavish."

The United States funds about 22 percent of the U.N.'s budget. In the past, the U.S. has sought a pay freeze, but been ignored by the General Assembly....

-Election 2012
Obama campaign claims lead on early vote indicators
Led by a surge in Hispanic voters, President Obama’s campaign said Thursday Democrats are leading the party registration battle in nearly every battleground state this fall as they try to combat disillusionment among Democrats following last week’s debate with GOP nominee Mitt Romney.

The Obama campaign also said that with the exception of Colorado, Democrats are doing better this year versus 2008 in every battleground state that allows voting by mail.

“At this point in 2008, Republicans had an absentee ballot request advantage of 259,000 ballot requests in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina and Nevada. In 2012, Democrats have cut that margin by 75 percent to just 64,000,” Jeremy Bird, the Obama campaign’s national field director, said in a memo Thursday.

Mr. Bird said new voter registrations since Aug. 1 have overwhelmingly come in demographics favorable to Democrats, including women, voters under 30 and minorities.

In Pennsylvania, for example, 67 percent of new registrants were under age 30, and another 22 percent were women or minorities over that age.

And in Florida, Hispanics have accounted for all of the growth in voter registration.

In Iowa, where early voting has been going on already, twice as many registered Democrats have cast ballots as Republicans. And that pace is well ahead of where Democrats were in the 2008 election at this point, the campaign said.

Democrats are also outperforming their 2008 vote-by-mail requests in Nevada, Florida and North Carolina.

Talking with reporters Thursday afternoon, Jim Messina, manager of the Obama campaign, said they have a number of different paths to win the 270 electoral votes needed to capture the White House, and said thanks to last month’s huge fundraising number — the campaign raised $181 million in September, its best month in 2012 — they don’t have to withdraw from any of the states where they are contesting the election right now.

“We have the ability financially to compete wherever we want to compete, and that’s what we’re going to do,” he said.

Queerly enough, I had a new phone poll today. Live -- the robopoll was earlier in the day. The nice lady wanted to know if I was definitely/probably/not likely to vote, then at what time of day I would go, and only then who I intended to vote for. "Are you sure?" she asked, when I uttered the R name. We do live in interesting times.

Obama Camp: Benghazi Is Only an Issue 'Because of Romney and Ryan'
Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter said Thursday that the "entire reason" the terrorist attack at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi that killed four Americans has "become the political topic it is" is because Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan talk about the attack.

STEPHANIE CUTTER: In terms of the politicization of this -- you know, we are here at a debate, and I hope we get to talk about the debate -- but the entire reason this has become the political topic it is, is because of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. It's a big part of their stump speech. And it's reckless and irresponsible what they're doing.

BROOKE BALDWIN: But, Stephanie, this is national security. As we witnessed this revolution last year, we covered it--

CUTTER: It is absolutely national security--

BALDWIN: --it is absolutely pertinent. People in the American public absolutely have a right to get answers
.
Cutter's remarks drew immediate criticism from across the political spectrum. But the Obama spox quickly doubled down on Twitter, replying to a Buzzfeed researcher, "Romney has politicized Libya w/no plans of his own. POTUS' priorities are getting facts & bringing terrorists to justice."
She is right. The only reason people know about the truth instead of the Administration and the MSM covering it up is because it was made an issue again and again.

Our ambassador being raped and murdered and these people have the hutzpah to come out and say it isn't a big deal and the only reason that it is a big deal is because of elections?

Tar and feathers is too good for them.

The Latest O'Keefe Video Is A Doozy: DNC Staffer Enabling Double Voting
Article posted on the Daily Caller website at 10:57 a.m. yesterday. You will discover why this is important soon.
Videographer James O'Keefe's Project Veritas caught an official for President Barack Obama's re-election campaign helping who she thought was an Obama supporter set herself up to vote more than once in November.

O'Keefe claims in video that "wasn't the only exchange we recorded."

"We visited Organizing For America voter registration tables around New York and Organizing For America headquarters around the country," he said.

The video then cuts to a montage of different clips of Obama campaign volunteers and staffers all over the country helping O'Keefe's Project Veritas activists get set up to vote twice, a sign there's likely more to come.

The video ends with a challenge for the media: "Put your reputation on the line, journalists. Say this is an 'isolated incident.'"

The Daily Caller could not reach Caballero for comment, despite repeated calls to her cell phone.
See the six minute video at the link. Then the following was posted on PJ Tatler yesterday at 2:48 pm:
Second DNC Voter Fraud Video Hits; House Judiciary Chairman Calls For Firings
See second video at link.
The first video premiered online earlier today and showed an undercover reporter getting assistance from a DNC-paid Obama for America staffer in Houston, as she attempted to register to vote both in Texas and in Florida. The second shows undercover reporters replicating the voter fraud feat in Brooklyn, Minnesota and Florida.

Texas Rep. Lamar Smith, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, reacted to the videos by calling for the president to start firing staffers involved.

Registering to vote in more than one state is a criminal offense. Such a crime recently knocked a Maryland Democrat out of her race for the US House of Representatives.

O'Keefe closes the second video as he closed the first: With a taunt to journalists to declare that the voter fraud he is capturing in video can be chalked up to isolated incidents. More to come, I'm sure.
J. Christian Adams, formerly of the Justice Department's voting rights section, adds two interesting thoughts:
Obama campaign attorney Robert Bauer should be emailing memos to every paid staffer detailing 42 USC 1973i(e) and 42 USC § 1973gg--10(2). The former federal law makes it illegal to vote twice. The latter law prohibits fraudulent voting in a federal election. 18 USC 2 makes it illegal to aid and abet election fraud.

The new O'Keefe video raises the question -- how many other undercover videographers have penetrated the Obama campaign? O'Keefe obviously reached the heart of one operation. Who knows how many more Obama campaign offices are full of "volunteers" on the lookout for criminal behavior by other Obama campaign staffers?

#1  I hope O'Keefe had real good legal advice before running these stings - a lot of jurisdictions will contend they are violations of various wiretap or similar laws. Laws they will be far more interested in enforcing than voting laws.

#6  Perfect timing now that Hollywood (at least Dwight from the office and Sarah Silverman) have begun a campaign against Voter ID. Puts the lie to their ads and changes the post-election narrative if its close.

#7  Consequences: Ms Caballero's services are no longer required, effective immediately.

And as Mr. O' Keefe has promised more, and more damning videos to follow, Life must be pretty interesting inside the heads of the staff and management of the DNC... all the way up. What an interesting prequel to tonight's debate.

#8  ...well, if they use the term 'institutionalized racism' as an environment that encourages behaviors, then others can use the term 'institutionalized corruption' for similar organizational environments that encourage such behaviors.

#9  The awesome thing is that Breitbart sent the standard of getting a bunch of tapes together and releasing them slowly. Now the DNC has to assume they have a bunch of tapes and are probably scrambling. So if O'Keefe only has the two the damage is still done.

#3  I awaken each morniing longing for Clinton's resignation and Champs Hawaiian retirement.

I pray every evening that I get hear a jury foreman say: "We the jury find the defendant guilty of treason!". For every member of Oblamo's cabinet and crew.

#4  Unrelated, but this morning Stewart Varney reported that the new, reduced, 339,000 unemployment claims reduced this morning did not reflect the unemployment results of "one large state". Anyone care to wager that the state which fail to report was Illinois or California?

#5  (released this morning)... sorry.

It's usually California, Besoeker. They're not very good with time. Or with money, but that is an issue for another thread.

#7  A good treason trial might help straighten things out in Washington...at least it would be a start. Does anyone get tried for treason anymore?

#8  NO.
