Massholes being Massholes...

Diocese of San Jose partners with terror-linked CAIR
[Creeping Sharia] Over 750 Muslims and Catholics from the surrounding area gathered at the SABA Islamic Center on Monday, January 16, for a community event of hope and solidarity. Following the event, leaders from the two religious communities have agreed to form a local Muslim-Catholic Council.

"Let us commit to move forward together so that today’s prayer is not simply a symbolic gesture of good will, but rather, a promise to engage in an on-going dialogue of mutual understanding leading to friendship and common work," said Bishop Patrick J. McGrath, of the Diocese of San Jose during the event.

Bishop McGrath will appoint several Catholic members and the same will be appointed from members of the Muslim community. The Council will meet quarterly to plan and evaluate collaborative efforts. The multi-lateral aspects of their efforts will include:

Clergy-to-clergy. This would entail regular meetings between Catholic clergy and professional ministerial staff and Muslim clergy and professional staff. These conversations could be about topics that clergy deal with every day, things of professional interest, or possible projects that clergy might want to do together. Some sessions could talk about respective theology and culture, others about hotter items like Palestine. The Council would determine the curriculum of such conversations.

Religious Education; educator-to-educator. These conversations would be between Catholic educators and Muslim educators. Among them, school principals, administrators, religious educators, who would gather to talk about topics that would help respective Muslim and Catholic students understand and appreciate the nuances of religious traditions. It would also help plan and coordinate guest speakers to come to speak to students in classrooms.

NY Gov Cuomo requires insurance companies to cover contraception, abortion.
[FOX] New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Saturday that he was requiring health insurance companies to cover medically necessary abortions and most forms of contraception at no cost to women.

Cuomo’s announcement comes on the same day that over a million people around the world took to the streets to protest Donald Trump just hours into his presidency.

The ’Women's March’ attracted protesters who mostly sported pro-women and anti-Trump messages. Hundreds of "sister marches" were held in cities across the U.S. and internationally.

Cuomo took to Twitter to talk about his effort to "firmly secure access to reproductive health services in New York State."

The morning after the night before
[DavidWarrenOnline] Doesn’t smoke, doesn’t drink. Admits to a germ phobia. Works twenty hours a day. This might be a crazy man.

Or possibly an android. But androids aren’t vain. And besides, he admits that he is vain, unlike the previous android. Prides himself especially on his "common sense." He also seems to have a sense of humour, and to be capable of self-deprecation. But hasn’t made a habit of it.

Extreme self-confidence; comfortable among strong-willed people.

He is very smart, very sharp, with that kind of intelligence that was made for survival on a stage. Quick on his feet; knows when to duck. And unlike a politician, when not to. (As I mentioned in a recent post, the public are good at judging pretty faces on their TVs; not so good at estimating intelligence.)

Remarkably candid. Doesn’t mind if you don’t like it.

Likes people in uniform, from generals to hotel cleaning staff. Knows how to wear a tuxedo; or a babe on his arm. Decidedly heterosexual. Likes strong women, too. (Women are discovering that sometimes a man is okay, for a change.)

Can do business with anybody, both in his imagination and in fact.

Bit of a temper on him: retaliates for slights. Can recall, but does not nurse a grudge. People who have actually known him for a long time say he is a warm, loyal, generous friend, who remembers birthdays. (Certainly well organized, in that way.)

And I have seen interviews with him from years ago, in which his political views were solicited, before he became a professional politician. (Once a hack, always a hack: I can’t stop myself inquiring into "background.") Those views have not changed: a "populist" then as now.

Doesn’t like wars. Knows they cost a lot of money. Would rather that no one got hurt.

Given to overstatement and wild exaggeration, but with enjoyment. Needs coaching on the understatement side.

Basically honest, in a businesslike way. Unlikely to commit crimes, once he knows what they are.

I have no reason to believe he is a gangster, apart from the fact he’s been in real estate, and often talks like a gangster. Also looks like a gangster, and dresses like one, and has a wife who looks like a moll, but I don’t think it’s fair to dwell on appearances. (Too, she looks absolutely gorgeous in powder blue.)

For that matter, most gangsters are refreshingly honest, when the stakes are low. Gratuitous dishonesty is for the general population, who never take big risks.

As protection rackets go, one is probably better off with gangsters than with minor-league bureaucrats, looking for something to enforce, if only to assuage their minor-league bureaucratic egos. Gangsters are happy to overlook the small stuff. They get big by focusing on the "bigly." We get small by focusing on the small change. Fortunately for us, gangsters create employment, and don’t make a scene unless they have to. (However, little-league gangsters can be a pest.)

Moses gave ten commandments, by the way. Only three are currently enforceable, and those only in carefully specified cases.

But there are more than 10,000 felonies on the U.S. books today (I saw an estimate somewhere, of nearly 17,000) -- from dwarf tossing (in Florida) to slow dancing (in a national park). They are currently increasing faster than 1,000 a year: a few by statute, the rest through regulatory codes. Goodness knows how many misdemeanours. Nanny State can always nail you for something.

Nineteen in twenty convictions are by plea bargain; 97 percent of charges stick in some form (approximately the level in Stalin’s Russia). And this despite sometimes slovenly police. Tens of millions of convicted felons; about 7 million currently in gaol or on parole; well over a million busy lawyers. Just think if they had proper trials.

So yes, the people in the inaugural crowd who shouted that Hillary should go to gaol, had a point. And Donald should surely go there, too. So should everybody. Indeed, it is conventionally Christian to observe, that we all deserve to hang.

I listened carefully to the inaugural speech. You had to be a foreigner to appreciate it. To such an one, it sounded as if the new Chief Executive conceives of Natted States Merica as one yuge protection racket. As I said: better to be in than out.

And on reasons hinted, I think this is for the best. The previous Chief was a fusspot, a nickel-and-dime man, lacking the strategic vision. He was never sure whose side he was on. He set some sort of record for new laws. High time to simplify things.

President's ‘dark' speech a ray of light for millions
[Boston Herald] WASHINGTON -- The inaugural speech was "dark" -- that’s the storyline among the Democrats and their allies in the Fake News industry. It was "radical," "Hitlerian," or maybe Mussolini-ian -- or both, according to Comrade Chris Matthews.

But mostly it was dark. What else could it have been? If it was all sweetness and light in America, how far would Donald J. Trump have gotten in his campaign?

He had half as much money as the kleptocracy’s handpicked candidate. The alt-left media’s coverage of him was 90 percent negative, when they weren’t just making up fake news pure and simple.

Because the country was in a dark, dark place. It’s always darkest before the dawn. Yesterday was the dawn.

Trump said "America first." Twice! Hillary Clinton was giving him the evil eye. I hadn’t seen her this angry since maybe 10 minutes earlier, when she caught her "husband" staring at Melania Trump, or maybe it was Ivanka Trump, or maybe it was both.

Brevity truly is the soul of wit, and even more so, great speeches. Barack Obama couldn’t even finish clearing his throat in 14 minutes. But Trump hit all the right notes. And he only said "I" three times.
Posted by: Besoeker || 01/22/2017 07:43 || Comments || Link || E-Mail|| [1 views] Top|| File under:

#1  I thought the speech was blunt, clear, and gave no hope whatsoever to anyone who thought that Trump was just woofing during the campaign. We're just so used to hearing nuanced double-talk that the speech had a surprising quality to it.

And I thought Trump very clearly defined his role as he sees it: he is an American president, not a citizen of the world who's going to stop the seas from rising. After the last eight years the idea of the president of America actively promoting American interests is truly shocking.

To me the key thing is the growth rate. If a year from now the GDP is growing at a no-bullshit 4% clip -- which is a really tall order from where we are now-- the deficit starts to shrink, the country looks more economically stable, and foreign investors are lining up to take a number.

Rush on Trump inauguration: ‘There's a reclamation of the country taking place'
[Wash Times] Radio host Rush Limbaugh told listeners on Friday that President Donald Trump’s inauguration speech further solidified his belief that a "reclamation" of America’s founding principles is underway.

Inauguration Day analysis was on the docket for "The Rush Limbaugh Show" leading into the weekend, and the man behind the "golden EIB microphone" was "taken aback" by what he heard. The conservative host said he was pleased that God is "on full display" without anyone apologizing, along with Mr. Trump’s ongoing attacks on globalism.

"There’s a reclamation of the country taking place," Mr. Limbaugh said. "And by reclamation of the country, I mean that the people who honor the time-honored institutions and traditions of this country from its founding are reclaiming this country from efforts made by others to eliminate those institutions and traditions or to water them down, and to transform this country away from what it was intended to be from its founding forward. I think that’s what these last eight years have been."

...a single two-syllable word carrying connotations of both incoherence and viciousness. A fiery delivery implies an audience of rubes and yokels, preferably forming up into a mob...
protests of the past few days are an uprising in the making and have exposed, for the first time, the potential of toppling the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", government from the inside.

When thousands of members of "The Young" movement marched last Thursday on the streets of Jabalia in the Gazoo Strip, chanting the battle cry of the Tahrir Square, "Al sha'ab yureed iskat al-nizam" (the people want the fall of the regime), they attracted the attention of quite a few people in the Israeli defense establishment. There was a feeling that we are witnessing a rerun of the Arab Spring, threatening the Hamas regime this time.

[NBC] The curious decline and uncertain future of the Democratic Party.
Long, statistics-filled analysis of where they are, how they got there, and what the future likely holds. The first thing I've seen that doesn't blame it on Russian hacking or Republican cheating. Conclusion:
No matter what, Democrats will need to reinforce their decaying state and local party apparatuses to build power outside cities. Conservatives understood the importance of these down-ballot races years ago and have invested heavily in them, while Democrats tended to concentrate on the presidency and interest-group specific causes.

Party leaders seem to have recognized the error and have the new Obama-backed effort to win state legislatures ahead of the next round of redistricting in 2020. If successful, the party will lessen the headwind of Republican gerrymandering, though they will still have their own self-gerrymandering to worry about.

#3  ..Let me add something here: I think we're going to find out in the next six to eight months or so just how bad the financial situation is in some of the great Democratic strongholds - we know it's bad, but I suspect it's far, far worse than we've been told and the leadership of those cities have been desperately keeping a lid on it in the expectation that Malificent was going to win the election and bail them out when it hit the fan.

Once that gets exposed, the people responsible will either be on trial or on the run from an enraged nation and President. 2020? Hah. Try more like 2052 before they'll be able to mount a credible Presidential campaign.

Before Leaving WH Obama Bombs CIA-Vetted Syrian Rebels Embedded with Al-Qaeda
[PJ] If one event can symbolize the incoherence of the Obama administration's support for the so-called "vetted moderate" rebels in Syria, it would be one of Obama's last acts in his last full day in office.

On Friday the Pentagon reported that they had struck a terror training camp near Idlib, killing more than one hundred Al-Qaeda terrorists.

The wrinkle is that several members of a group that had previously been backed by the CIA and received TOW missiles as part of an Obama administration program--and were at the camp and embedded with Al-Qaeda--were also killed.

At least two policemen injured in North Sinai clashes: MENA
[AlAhram] At least two coppers were maimed Saturday in festivities between security forces and unknown bandidos turbans in North Sinai, state owned news agency MENA reported, citing security sources.

In press statements, security sources said that festivities erupted in al-Arish and extended to a North Sinai highway, leading to the wounding of several coppers.

According to the sources, a North Sinai security directorate deputy in the investigation department and several conscripts were among those injured.

They were transferred to hospitals to receive medical treatment.

The sources said that the "terrorist elements" opened fire on a police contingent during a security raid, leading to major festivities with heavy gunfire as police forces responded.

Police were combing surrounding areas to arrest the bandidos turbans responsible.

The interior ministry has yet to release a statement on the incident.

The attack comes nearly a week after Egypt’s interior ministry announced it had killed a leading figure in the Sinai based terrorist group Ansar Beit al-Maqdis during a raid on a house in the governorate.

Ansar Beit al-Maqdis has grabbed credit for the majority of attacks against security personnel and installations in the restive North Sinai.

Eight people killed in their home by shell in Egypt's Rafah

[Ynet] Eight people were killed on Saturday after a shell landed on a house in southern Rafah, in the north of Sinai, eye witnesses and medical sources said.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack and witnesses and medical sources said the source of the shell was unknown. Rafah is on the border with Gaza.

Egyptian forces have been fighting an Islamist insurgency in the Sinai Peninsula which has gained pace since the military toppled President Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt's oldest Islamist movement, in 2013

[Ynet] Turkish prosecutors have issued arrest warrants for more than 400 people, including soldiers and security officers, in 48 provinces across the country following July's failed coup, broadcaster Haberturk said on Saturday.

They were being sought on suspicion of using Bylock, an encrypted smartphone messaging app that the government says was used by the network of Fethullah Gulen

They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
affiliate in the Egyptian peninsula, a top official in Gazoo told Breitbart Jerusalem.

Eighteen turbans, two of them senior operatives, were arrested in the city of Rafah, near the Egyptian border. Another four, one of them a senior turban, were arrested in Gazoo City and its environs. They were all interrogated by Hamas police.

The official said that Hamas set up an "ideological watchdog" in the wake of growing sympathies for radical jihadism among its members, especially the group’s so-called military wing.

Suspected IS loyalists are turned over to Hamas "reeducation committees," while more senior members are first arrested and interrogated, then assessed by the committees and eventually "pardoned," the official said.

IS, for its part, has started turning to disgruntled Hamas activists as a recruitment source. The organization is targeting them on social media, as well as publishing names and pictures of former Hamas members who were killed in action in Sinai in a bid to embarrass the Egyptian government.

Since last year, dozens of Hamas turbans, including several very senior ones, have defected to join IS ranks.

Hamas retaliated by arresting hundreds of IS loyalists in Gazoo. The arrests involved at least one exchange of gunfire.

Asked for comment on the arrests, Iyad Albuzum, a spokesperson for Hamas’ Interior Ministry, told Breitbart Jerusalem he could not provide details about actions taken by the security services.

Ex-CIA Director Brennan angry at home inspection termite report
Playing politics.
[The Hill] Former CIA Director John Brennan was reportedly "deeply saddened" by President Trump's remarks at the Central Intelligence Agency on Saturday.

According to former CIA deputy chief of staff Nick Shapiro, Brennan believes that Trump "should be ashamed of himself" for his "display of simple facts self-aggrandizement."

"Former CIA director Brennan is deeply saddened and angered at Donald Trump's despicable display of self-aggrandizement in front of CIA's Memorial Wall of Agency heroes. Brennan says that Trump should be ashamed of himself," Shapiro said in a pair of tweets.

During his remarks on Saturday, Trump took the opportunity to blast the media for their coverage of the inauguration, accusing news networks of lying about the size of the crowd that attended the event.

"Honestly it looked like a million and half people, whatever it was it was. But it went all the way back to the Washington Monument ... and by mistake I get this network and it showed an empty field, and it said we drew 250,000 people. Now that's not bad, but its a lie," Trump said.

Trump also denied having a "feud" with the intelligence community, blaming it on "dishonest" media and vowing to strongly support intelligence officials.

"As you know I have a running war with the media," Trump said.
Now you know, that I know, so please muzzle your dogs.
"They are among the most dishonest human beings on earth. And they sort of made it sound like I had a feud with the intelligence community. And just want to let you know that the reason you’re the No. 1 stop is exactly the opposite."

Scarlett Johansson left fuming at Women's March when her emotional Planned Parenthood speech was cut short after she goes after Ivanka Trump
- Scarlett Johansson was seven minutes into her speech when her mic was cut off

- She was visibly annoyed and tried to shrug it off before complaining to a friend

- The 32-year-old said she would support Trump if he supported women's rights

- Johansson called on the president to allow her daughter to have the same access to services and 'privileges' that Ivanka Trump had during her youth

Secret Service ‘Aware' of Madonna's ‘Blow Up White House' Comment
A spokesman for the Secret Service told The Gateway Pundit the agency is aware of the comment by aging pop star Madonna made at a large liberal women’s protest against President Donald Trump held in Washington, D.C., Saturday, that she has "thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House." The spokesman said an investigation would be opened but that the decision to prosecute rests with the U.S. Attorney’s office.

Transcript from the video excerpt of Madonna’s speech made at the Women’s March on Washington which appeared to be from prepared remarks.

"I’m angry. Yes, I am outraged. Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House. (Crowd cheers.) But I know that this won’t change anything. We cannot fall into despair. As the poet W. H. Auden once wrote on the eve of World War Two, "We must love one another or die." I choose love. Are you with me? (Crowd cheers.) Caribbean-Latin America
Mexico braced for exodus to US as ‘Trump effect' hurts the peso
[Guardian] Donald Trump is actually giving Mexican workers more reason to head to the US, not less.

In Mexico it is known as "el efecto Trump": a barrage of taunts and tweets that rattle the economy and hammer the peso. For the new president, it is part of a strategy to pressure companies to move jobs back to the United States. Mexico’s job will be to suck it up, accept the millions of people Trump has promised to deport, and pay for the proposed border wall.

Reality may soon disrupt this vision because Donald Trump, in one of the first great ironies of his presidency, has given impoverished Mexicans more reason to migrate to the US.

The peso’s slump against the dollar has dramatically driven up their cost of living, fuelling angry protests and steeling the resolve of some to sneak across the border.

Rioters set fire to newsstands and trash cans in the middle of some D.C. streets, while others lit car fires, smashed business windows and injured police officers.

Israeli Leader To People of Iran: We are Your Friend
Israel's leader has recorded a conciliatory message to the people of Iran, saying, "we are your friend, not your enemy."

In the video uploaded to his Facebook page Saturday, Benjamin Netanyahu addresses the people of Iran in English, with Farsi subtitles. He says he will soon discuss with President Donald Trump how to counter the threat of an Iranian regime that calls for Israel's destruction, but that he distinguishes between the regime and the people.

"You have a proud history. You have a rich culture. Tragically, you are shackled by a theocratic tyranny," he says.

Israel regards Iran as its most dangerous adversary because of its nuclear program, development of long-range missiles and continued support for militant groups. Netanyahu considers a nuclear-armed Iran a threat to his country's very existence.

Aydin is still at-large and his whereabouts are still unknown, despite the cooperation of his family in Turkey.

Hamas MP says Jews recruit prostitutes, AIDS-infected women, to lure Arabs
[TIMESOFISRAEL] In a recent Friday sermon in the Gazoo Strip, Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", MP Marwan Abu Ras accused Jews of recruiting hookers into the army "in order to lure Arabs into their traps," and further added that Jewish leaders send "AIDS-infected girls to fornicate with Moslem youths."

During the sermon, which was delivered on January 6 and was broadcast on Hamas’s al-Aqsa TV, Abu Ras also claimed that the Jewish state allowed drugs and tobacco to be smuggled through tunnels into Gazoo, while purposefully preventing the entry of essential goods.

"Do you know what commodity enters Gazoo in large quantities, with the blessings of the enemy? It is drugs," said Abu Ras. "Drugs only. The second commodity is tobacco. Those who want to smuggle drugs or tobacco into Gazoo can do so freely, but to smuggle a useful commodity into Gazoo? That is forbidden."

According to a translation provided by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), the Hamas MP went on to attack Jews on the lam for spreading "filthy pornographic movies and websites."

Abu Ras concluded his sermon with an assurance to the crowd that the Jewish state would soon be defeated, adding a prayer that the "criminal Jews" and those who support them would be eliminated.

Burundi extends mandate of Somalia peacekeeping force
Burundi and the African Union have signed a deal to renew the mandate of Burundian peacekeeping troops in Somalia, the bloc said Friday.
Amazing what happens when you not just threaten to pick up and leave but start packing the vans...
The move comes more than two months after Burundi said it would withdraw all its troops on duty in the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) due to a dispute with the European Union over the payment of salaries.

“I thank the Burundi Ppl for their legendary hospitality & Govt for fruitful visit. Agreement reached; Burundi Peacekeepers will stay in Somalia,” tweeted Smail Chergui, the African Union’s commissioner for peace and security.

“Africa is grateful for sacrifices made by Burundi & all AMISOM TCCs for peace in Somalia. We also deeply appreciate EU’s critical support,” he added, using the acronym for troop contributing countries.

Chergui also said that very soon AMISOM’s Burundian troops will receive their allowances, local media reported.
Which means Mr. Big must have already received his...
“I have just received Chergui, African Union commissioner for peace and security, with whom I have had fruitful exchanges. The question of the salary of our troops in Somalia is settled,” Burundi’s First Vice-President Gaston Sindimwo told a press conference in the capital Bujumbura.

“We are satisfied, we have discussed well with Chergui, and a memorandum of understanding has been signed,” he said.

In March 2016, the EU suspended direct aid to Burundi, including funds for its peacekeeping contingent in AMISOM. Burundian troops have not been paid for 12 months, Gaston Sindimwo said Tuesday.

(ISIS) launched a powerful assault last night in the Deir Ezzor Governorate, targeting the strategic military airport under the control of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).

ISIS stormed the military airport at 9:30 P.M. (Damascus Time) last night, striking the southern flank of this installation from their positions at the rocket battalion base.

In response to the Islamic State offensive last night, the Russian and Syrian air forces stepped up their attacks over Deir Ezzor, launching over 40 Arclight airstrikes against terrorist targets in this desert province.

No gains were reported by either side last night, despite the intensity of the Islamic State attack on the military airport.

The Islamic State launched this offensive at the military airport after they foiled the large-scale advance by the Syrian Arab Army in the Panorama and cemetery areas.

Imagine how Hillary Clinton must have felt at the inauguration
[ABC.NET.AU] When Donald Trump

arrived at the inaugural luncheon following his swearing-in as US President, he immediately shook hands with his election rival Hillary Clinton
... former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, sometimes described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as a crook...
, who was sitting with members of his family.

"There is something that I wanted to say," he told those who had gathered.

"I was very honoured -- very, very honoured -- when I heard that President Bill Clinton
...former Democratic president of the U.S. Bill was the second U.S. president to be impeached, the first to deny that oral sex was sex, the first to have difficulty with the definition of is...
and Secretary Hillary Clinton was coming today.

"I'd like you to stand up, I'd like you to stand up."

What followed was a standing ovation, but it wasn't the one that Mrs Clinton had been looking forward to getting on January 20, 2017, before her dream of returning to the White House -- this time as president rather than first lady -- was shattered last November.

I'm sure Bill spent more time "admiring" (putting it loosely) and "valuing" (again, putting it loosely) women (...uh...putting it loosely) other than Hillary than he did her.

If she wants to claim the title, I'm guessing its more akin to "interim head coach" than it was a permanent position.

Car bomb explodes near Italian embassy in Tripoli
[Libya Observer] A boom-mobile has went kaboom! nearby the Qasir Libya Hotel ‐ al-Dahra, an area close to the Italian embassy in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
A security source said that the man who carried out the blast in al-Dahra neighborhood, Tripoli, parked his car in the middle of the road near the Planning Ministry after he had been chased by the security personnel tasked to secure the Italian embassy.

"He was chased as he was rendered a suspect when he tried to park next to the Italian embassy." The source added.

The Red Islamic Thingy said they recovered two bodies from the went kaboom! car for the driver and his lover companion.

No further details about casualties have been reported yet.

Observers say targeting the Italian embassy days after reopening in Tripoli is a strong message to the Italians to reconsider their political agenda.

Lebanon foils bomber in busy Beirut district
[al-Monitor] Lebanese soldiers arrested a would-be suicide bomber inside a crowded cafe in one of the busiest neighbourhoods in the capital Beirut on Saturday night, security sources told AFP.

The sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, said a man wearing an explosive bomb belt had been detained by authorities after entering a coffee shop in the upscale Hamra neighbourhood in west Beirut.

The cafe is on the main street of the bustling area, and was filled with people socialising on a weekend evening when the arrest occurred around 2100 GMT.

The sources said the man was being followed by security forces, who have stepped up foot patrols in the neighborhood in recent weeks. The man was injured during the arrest, with several soldiers holding him down to ensure he was not able to detonate the belt, one security source said. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment before interrogation, the sources added.

Lebanon has been hit by a string of bomb attacks in recent years, with some linked to the ongoing war in neighbouring Syria. Some of the deadliest blasts have targeted neighbourhoods sympathetic to the powerful Shiite Hezbollah movement, which is fighting alongside Syria's government against an uprising. The casualties in the blasts have been almost exclusively civilians.

The Hamra neighbourhood, a district known for shopping and nightlife, has not previously been hit by an attack.

But in June 2016, the army said it had arrested jihadists from the Islamic State group planning attacks against busy areas, including Hamra. An AFP correspondent in Hamra said a heavy security presence remained in place with the cafe and several nearby restaurants closing after the incident.

But residents could still be seen on the street, which was reopened to traffic around an hour after the arrest.

Critical film unnerves Egypt's religious scholars
[al-Monitor] Egypt's religious scholars are up in arms over a new film that takes on the nation's sheikhs and mosque preachers. The film, called "Mawlana" ("Preacher"), has been screened at cinemas nationwide since Jan. 4. It has stirred up controversy among Islamic scholars who accuse its makers of tarnishing their reputation and call for it to be pulled from theaters.

"Works that address religious texts should be reviewed by religious institutions before being made into films," Shoukri el-Guindi, a member of the parliament's Religious Affairs Committee, wrote on Facebook. "Inside these institutions, there are wise people who love their religion and their homeland, not ones who only follow their personal interests."

He said religious scholars should not be turned into film characters and that their sanctity must be respected, asking, "Will the public follow these religious scholars if they are portrayed as lustful figures ... and hypocrites?"

#1  Will the public follow these religious scholars if they are portrayed as lustful figures ... and hypocrites?

And here we have the crux of the issue for all things and people, political or religious. .

Is it the portrayal, or is it the reality?

Everyone written about in any religious text or history book or news paper etc. is being portrayed by someone else. The question is "how close to reality is the portrayal" and how much is the narrative?

Wash. Free Beacon Obtains Copy Of Memo From Clinton Ally Plotting Trump's Impeachment
For some in the Clinton orbit, the 2016 cycle has not ended. In fact, Hillary Clinton’s stunning upset loss to President Donald J. Trump seems to have prompted some of her top allies to open another front to defeat the president through impeachment. Joe Schoffstall and Lachlan Markay of the Washington Free Beacon have obtained a confidential memo from longtime Clinton ally David Brock that alleges he will use his PAC, American Bridge, to set the wheels in motion.

This will be a multi-year project, with Brock hoping that articles of impeachment against Trump will come out of their work. He also hopes to build a network of donors that rivals the right-leaning Koch Brothers:

Brock is currently at the Turnberry Isle Resort in Aventura, Fla. for a weekend conference with more than 100 major liberal donors. Attendees are mapping out a course to combat the newly sworn-in president.

According to the private and confidential memo, Brock plans to defeat Trump "through impeachment," using American Bridge, his liberal super PAC, as the main vehicle to do so.

"No other progressive organization has the resources and assets that American Bridge has amassed over the past several election cycles to hold Trump, his administration, and the politicians accountable," the 44-page confidential memo states.

#8  The problem with the plan of impeachment in the next 4 years is it has to go through congress. Two years from now during the next congressional election the map is not favorable to the demoncrats and they won't get back the house, which is necessary to start the impeachment.

They also have to win the senate, which is possible but difficult, but there is no way they will get a 2/3 vote to impeach.

The only sweet spot for them to actually do this is if Trump wins ANOTHER term and then the demoncrats win back congress in the 6th year and manage to convince a lot of Republican Senators that Trump is a crook.

[NEWS.XINHUANET] Visiting Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari thanked Saturday Leb's support for Iraq in regional and international arenas, pointing that his country "has no desire to interfere in the local affairs of any Arab country."

"We reached an understanding on the need to maintain the Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
as a form of unity between Arabs. We don't dismiss the existence of division, as there are various regimes and backgrounds, but what unites us is more than what divides us," Jaafari told news hounds at the Baabda Palace following meeting with President Michel Aoun
...a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah...
For his part, Aoun stressed that "combating terrorism is not the responsibility of one state but requires collaboration and coordination between all countries".

The president expressed hope that the upcoming Arab summit, which will be held in Jordan in March, would be able to "represent the much-needed Arab solidarity to fend off the circumstances that all Arab countries are passing through."

Jaafari handed Aoun a letter from his Iraqi counterpart President Fouad Masoum, congratulating Aoun on his election and the desire to promote bilateral ties between the two countries and invited him to visit Baghdad.

Guantanamo Bay prisoner with 'Al Qaeda links' who wanted to come to Nottingham is now free
[NOTTINGHAMPOST] A Guantanamo Bay prisoner with suspected Al Qaeda links who wanted to join his family in Nottingham is now a free man.

Ravil Mingazov has been released after being imprisoned in the US detention camp at the military prison in Cuba for the past 14 years, and seven months after his release was approved.

The Post reported in July last year that Mr Mingazov, 49, wanted to join his former wife and their teenage son, who live in Nottingham, to "live happily ever after in Sherwood Forest", and his lawyers had made a request to the Home Office.

It is not known whether the ex-wife and son were still living locally.

Panama case exposed real face of Nawaz: Imran
[NATION.PK] Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
Chairman Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality problems...
yesterday said the Panama leaks case had exposed the real face of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
who used politics and public offices to boost his business and increase his wealth.

In an interview to Waqt News, Imran Khan said the Panama issue should have ideally been resolved in the parliament. PTI had to come on the roads on being denied justice in the parliament, he averred.

He lauded his party workers, including women, youth and children, for staging protest sit-ins against corruption. He extended his gratitude towards his supporters who stood by him against corruption and whose support made the rulers accountable.

The PTI chief said Gen Zia ul Haq
...the creepy-looking former dictator of Pakistain. Zia was an Islamic nutball who imposed his nutballery on the rest of the country with the enthusiastic assistance of the nation's religious parties, which are populated by other nutballs. He was appointed Chief of Army Staff in 1976 by Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, whom he hanged when he seized power. His time in office was a period of repression, with hundreds of thousands of political rivals, minorities, and journalists executed or tortured, including senior general officers convicted in coup-d'état plots, who would normally be above the law. As part of his alliance with the religious parties, his government helped run the war against the Soviets in Afghanistan, providing safe havens, American equipiment, Saudi money, and Pak handlers to selected mujaheddin. Zia died along with several of his top generals and admirals and the then United States Ambassador to Pakistain Arnold Lewis Raphel when he was assassinated in a suspicious air crash near Bahawalpur in 1988...
had brought Nawaz Sharif in politics by holding non-party-based elections in 1985.

Answering a question, Imran said 20 years back, he joined politics because nobody was prepared at that time to speak against corruption. Sounding optimistic regarding the Panama outcome, Imran said he was about to achieve his objective against corruption after 20 years.

He said: "It must be ascertained who is lying, Nawaz Sharif or his children. It has been proven that the country’s plundered money was sent abroad to purchase the London flats and set up offshore companies. BBC has also made a documentary on it." Khan affirmed he was desirous of engaging Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan as his counsel in the Panama case, but he didn’t do so because of his affiliation with PPP.

Trump staff arrives at the White House
[POLITICO] President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s staff started arriving at the White House less than two hours after their boss took the oath of office.

Raj Shah, a new deputy communications director, showed news hounds his teal-blue badge (in contrast to the B.O. regime’s royal blue hard passes) and said he was on hand "literally to hit ’send’ on things." Indeed, the prepared text of Trump’s inaugural speech and the first White House pool report landed in inboxes from a White House press address labeled "OCIO."

It’s unclear how many others will make it onto the White House campus on Friday, Shah said. Vans have been carrying staffers over from the transition offices, "a bunch of NSC staff, primarily," he said, referring to the National Security Council.

Asked whether Trump would make more executive moves during his first hours in office beyond those he signed at the Capitol, Shah said, "Stay tuned for that."

He added: "Don’t start drinking yet."

Yemeni troops attack Soddy positions in Jawf
[al-Manar] Dozens of Saudi-led mercenaries were killed or wounded when the Yemeni army and popular forces waged an offensive on Saturday against their sites in Khab and Sha’af district of Jawf province, a military official told Saba.

The army and popular forces stormed two locations of the mercenaries in al-Mahashamah area of the district, the official said.

Scores of mercenaries were killed, others injured, and some others captured, as well as two military vehicles were burned during the storming operation, he added.

Yemen has been since March 26, 2015 under brutal aggression by Saudi-led coalition.

Thousands have been martyred and injured in the attack, with the vast majority of them are civilians.

Riyadh launched the attack on Yemen in a bid to restore power to fugitive ex-president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia.

Pakistani Taliban Claim Deadly Market Bombing
[NYTIMES] A bombing killed at least 20 people on Saturday during an auction at a vegetable market in a mostly Shiite town in northwestern Pakistain, ending a long lull in holy warrior violence there, officials said.At least 43 people were maimed in the morning bombing in Parachinar, capital of the Kurram tribal region, which borders Afghanistan.

The Pak Taliban grabbed credit for the attack."I was in my shop when a deafening blast shook the market," a Parachinar resident, Hussain Ali Tori, said by telephone.

"I have seen dozens of shattered bodies lying on the ground. Some were dead, and many were crying for help."A Taliban front man, Muhammad Khurasani, said a jacket wallah had carried out the attack, but a Kurram official, Nasrullah Khan, said the bomb appeared to have been planted in a crate.

"The place is always crowded," said Mr. Khan, a deputy administrator.Parachinar has been a center of resistance to the Taliban, specifically the Haqqani network, which is one of the movement’s most violent factions, and it has been the site of numerous bombings in the past. But there had been none since December 2015, when another market bombing killed 23 people.

More: Dozens killed in Pakistan market blast; Taliban, LeJ claim hand

An kaboom in a busy vegetable market killed at least 21 people on Saturday in Pakistain's remote northwestern tribal region, an official said, in an attack jointly claimed by the Pak Taliban and a branch of the sectarian Lion of Islam group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi
... a 'more violent' offshoot of Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistain. LeJ's purpose in life is to murder anyone who's not of utmost religious purity, starting with Shiites but including Brelvis, Ahmadis, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Rosicrucians, and just about anyone else you can think of. They are currently a wholly-owned subsidiary of al-Qaeda ...
About 40 others were maimed in the blast in Kurram region, near the border with Afghanistan, said Sajid Hussain Turi, member of the National Assembly from the region.

"We received 21 bodies of the local tribal people killed in the blast," Turi said, adding that there would be a mass funeral followed by a demonstration over the attack.

Spokesmen for the Pak Taliban and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi Al Alami said the two groups coordinated the attack together.

Mohammad Khurassani, a front man for the Mehsud faction of the Pak Taliban, said the attack was to avenge Tuesday's killing of the leader of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), Asif Chotoo, by police in the eastern province of Punjab.

Ali bin Sufyan, front man for LeJ's Al Alami faction, told Rooters his group had coordinated the attack with the Pak Taliban. The Al Alami gunnies in the past have claimed to have coordinated attacks with Middle East-based Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
's branch in Pakistain, including the November bombing of a Moslem shrine that killed 52 people, but the group also allies with the Taliban.

Reports differed on the cause of the kaboom.

Turi said a homemade bomb had been planted in a pile of tomatoes and went kaboom! as people gathered in the market in Parachinar, Kurram's main town, early on Saturday morning.

Talibs have been active around Parachinar in the past, ad the town has also suffered sectarian tension between Sunni and Shi'ite Moslems.

Another Kurram official, Sabzali Khan, said early reports had suggested that a jacket wallah was responsible for the blast.

An eyewitness, Ashiq Hussain, said he saw bodies strewn around the market and maimed people crying out for help.

"There was no ambulance, and people had to carry the injured in cars and private pickup trucks to the hospital," Hussain told Rooters.

A statement from Pakistain's military said army helicopters had been dispatched to evacuate the maimed.

Trump Urged by Clergy to Embrace Compassion as Protests Unfold
[BLOOMBERG] Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
began his first full day in office Saturday at a prayer service in Washington where pastors of many faiths urged him to embrace peace and compassion, as tens of thousands of women gathered across town on the National Mall to protest his presidency.

"Look with compassion, O heavenly Father, upon the widowed and orphans, outcasts and refugees, prisoners, and all who are in danger, that they may find you and be comforted," Anthony Vance, director of public affairs at the United States Baha’i Community, read during the service at the National Cathedral, a U.S. post-inaugural tradition dating to George Washington.

Trump will travel in the afternoon to CIA headquarters to meet with intelligence agents, his press secretary, Sean Spicer, said on Twitter. He’ll be accompanied by his National Security Adviser, Michael Flynn, and his nominee to lead the Central Intelligence Agency, Representative Mike Pompeo, two people familiar with the matter said.

Trump’s relationship with the intelligence community is strained after he publicly criticized its leaders for announcing that the U.S. had determined the Russian government was responsible for hacking Democratic Party officials’ e-mail accounts during the presidential campaign.

US to Turkey: We only arm Arabs in the SDF, not Kurds
It will be interesting to see if this program continues in the same form on President Trump's watch. I assume the Arab elements of the SDF have been quietly sharing their weapons with their Kurdish allies.
[ALMASDARNEWS] Pentagon officials have emphasized to their Turkish partners that the US are only arming the Arab elements in the Kurdish-less Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF

The US has already begun airdropping aid to the Arab factions of the SDF to assist in their fight against ISIS in Raqqa countryside.

"Our local partners in Syria continue to converge down on Raqqa and I’m also confident that they will soon have ISIS’s so-called capital isolated," outgoing US Secretary of Defense Ash Carter said on Thursday about the US support for the SDF forces.

"The isolation of Raqqa continued...our partners cleared more than 3,000 square kilometers since the start of their operations. ISIS’s days there, as well as in Iraq, are numbered," Carter added.

However it was Pentagon spokesperson Peter Cook that tried to ease the concerns of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

"We have been supplying the SDF, specifically the Syrian Arab Coalition, for some time, with materiel support. We continue to do that, and there’s been no change," he said.

"We continue to provide that support for the Syrian Arab Coalition," he stressed.

Trump Rejects Notion of Feud With CIA in Day-One Visit
President Donald Trump assured employees at the CIA of his strong support and said he would unleash them to defeat Islamic terrorists after previous presidents had held the intelligence community back during the nation’s 16-year-old war with extremists.
The Donald assumes that the CIA wants to be unleashed against terrorists. I wouldn't be so sanguine...
"We have not used the real abilities that we have. We’ve been restrained,” Trump said in a rambling speech that strayed into criticism of the media, his performance during Friday’s inaugural speech and his belief that the U.S. should have “kept the oil” after invading Iraq.

Standing before the CIA Memorial Wall, which is engraved with stars representing employees who lost their lives in service to the country, Trump rejected the notion that he had been in a “feud" with the intelligence community over its investigation of the Russian government’s hacking of the presidential campaign.

He was not specific about what additional “abilities" the Central Intelligence Agency should use against terrorism, but during his presidential campaign, Trump openly suggested his predecessor, Barack Obama, was wrong to ban waterboarding and other “enhanced” interrogation techniques criticized as torture.

"Radical Islamic terrorism, and I said it yesterday, has to be eradicated, just off the face of the Earth," Trump said in his speech at the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia. "This is evil."

Trump visited the agency on his first full day on the job to begin patching up relations strained by his public criticism of the intelligence community’s investigation of Russia’s hacks of Democratic Party officials’ e-mail accounts during the campaign. After winning election, Trump repeatedly questioned the community’s findings.

"These are the same people that said Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction," Trump’s office said in a December statement challenging the findings on Russian hacking.

In a later pair of tweets, Trump appeared to accuse Obama CIA chief John Brennan of being behind the leak of an unverified dossier purporting to contain compromising information on Trump and said the previous team “couldn’t do much worse.”

Trump was angered by comments Brennan made in a Fox News interview in his final week in office.

“What I do find outrageous is equating intelligence community with Nazi Germany,” Brennan, who served in the administrations of Presidents George W. Bush and Obama, said in the interview. “I do take great umbrage at that, and there is no basis for Mr. Trump to point fingers at the intelligence community for leaking information that was already available publicly.”

Trump quickly retorted, saying on Twitter: “Oh really, couldn’t do... much worse - just look at Syria (red line), Crimea, Ukraine and the build-up of Russian nukes. Not good! Was this the leaker of Fake News?,” a reference to the dossier.

Now as president, Trump was more conciliatory.

“There is nobody who feels stronger about the intelligence community and the CIA than Donald Trump,” he said. He was accompanied by his National Security Adviser, Michael Flynn, and his nominee to lead the agency, Mike Pompeo, who is awaiting Senate confirmation.

"Maybe sometimes you haven’t got the backing that you’ve wanted," Trump said. "You’re going to get so much backing, maybe you’re going to say, ‘please don’t give us so much backing. Mr. President, please don’t give us so much backing.’"

After an introduction by acting CIA Director Meroe Park, Trump jokingly suggested that most of the audience had voted for him, but said he wouldn’t ask them to raise their hands. "The military gave us tremendous percentages of votes," he said. "Probably almost everybody in this room voted for me. I would guarantee a big portion."
He just can't help himself, can he...
The visit was planned with the expectation that Pompeo, a Kansas Republican, would be confirmed by the Senate on Friday and could be sworn in Saturday. Instead, objections from Democrats postponed the vote until next week.

Iraq
Mosul Offensive News

Iraqi forces capture 2 more Mosul districts

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi security forces recaptured on Saturday two of a handful of remaining districts in Islamic State grip in northeastern Mosul, becoming so close to announcing a total liberation of the eastern section of the city from the group.

Lt. Gen. Abdul-Amir Yarallah, commander of the Joint Operations Command in Nineveh, said the troops recaptured al-Arabi district and al-Qawsiyat village, and became closer to al-Rashidiya, another neighborhood.

Meanwhile, a local source in Nineveh told Alsumaria News that the bodies of seven Islamic State militants were found floating above the Tigris River. He said the dead fighters were swimming across the river over the past few days to escape battles with government forces in the east to the western bank, where the extremist group still predominates. He said the group was still searching for other missing corpses.

Earlier on Thursday, a spokesperson of the US-led coalition against IS, John Dorrian, said aerial bombardment destroyed 90 boats used by the militants to cross from the east to the west of the city.

Iraqi forces, backed by popular militias and US-led international advisers and troops, have entered a third month of operations to retake Mosul, the last outstanding IS stronghold in Iraq which fell to the group in 2014.

On Wednesday, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said the basic military plan for Mosul’s liberation had been completed “in most combat axes” with the recapture of central Mosul, adding that operations continue to liberate “a few other regions” in the north of the city.

Commanders from the Iraqi army’s elite Counter-Terrorism Forces said in a press conference on the same day they had retaken all districts assigned to them in eastern Mosul, killing 3300 militants since operations launched.

After getting finished with eastern Mosul, Iraqi generals plan to advance to the western region of the city beyond the Tigris River, where Islamic State still predominates a majority of territory.

Airstrikes hit 90 ISIS boats

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) The US-led international coalition announced on Saturday destructing 90 boats and three ships belonging to the Islamic State group in eastern Mosul.

The spokesman for the Joint Task Force, Colonel John Dorian said in a press statement, “We thought terminating the members and leaders of the Islamic State is hard.”

“These boats were used to transport the Islamic State’s members from eastern Mosul to its Western side, to flee from Iraqi security forces,” Dorian added.

Nineveh Province is witnessing wide-scale military operations to retake the city of Mosul from the Islamic State’s grip that captured the city in June 2014.

Iraqi airstrikes hit western Mosul

Nineveh (Iraqi News) Iraqi fighter jets bombarded a number of neighborhoods held by Islamic State militants in western Mosul on Saturday, two days after government forces became a few districts away from totally recapturing the eastern section.

A source at Nineveh operations told London-based The New Arab newspaper that the airstrikes also killed a number of militants who were escaping the eastern regions to the west on nine boats via the Tigris River.

The source said battles between government forces and the extremist group still continue at the districts of Rashidiya, Baisan and al-Qawsiyat in the northeast, which he said were the last Islamic State hideouts in the east.

On Wednesday, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said the basic military plan for Mosul’s liberation had been completed “in most combat axes” with the recapture of central Mosul, adding that operations continue to liberate the Ghabat and Presidential Palaces area besides “a few other regions” in the north of the city.

Commanders from the Iraqi army’s elite Counter-Terrorism Forces said in a press conference on the same day they had retaken all districts assigned to them in eastern Mosul, killing 3300 militants since operations launched in October 2016.

After getting finished with eastern Mosul, Iraqi generals plan to advance to the western region of the city beyond the Tigris River, where Islamic State still predominates a majority of territory.

The campaign to retake Mosul has entered its third month, with Iraqi government forces backed by U.S.-led international coalition fighter jets as well as popular militias.

Afghanistan
Head of primary military court kidnapped in Kunduz
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The head of the primary military court in Kunduz province was kidnapped by unknown gunnies, local officials said. The incident took place earlier today on Takhar-Kunduz highway.

A security official in Kunduz confirmed that the head of the court was on his way from Takhar to Kunduz when he was kidnapped by unknown gunnies. The official further added that the main motive behind his abduction is not clear yet and a search operation is underway for his release.

No group including the Taliban Lions of Islam has so far grabbed credit behind the incident.

Kunduz is among the relatively volatile provinces in northern Afghanistan where the Taliban Lions of Islam are actively operating in a number of its districts. The Talibs often establish check posts on the main highways connecting Kunduz with the other northern provinces and kidnap passengers on charges of working for the government.

Several kidnapping incidents took place on Takhar-Kunduz highway last year and scores of passengers were kidnapped by the holy warriors.

However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
the majority of the passengers were released after they were taken by the Talibs for interrogation.

Several citizens arrested by Jaysh Al-Islam for allegedly planning to reconcile with government

...Liwa al-Islam (Brigade of Islam) was established by Zahran Alloush, the son of Saudi-based religious scholar Abdullah Mohammed Alloush, after Syrian authorities released him from prison in mid-2011 where he had been serving time for his Salafist activism. The group claimed responsibility for carrying out the July 2012 Damascus bombing that killed Defense Minister Dawoud Rajiha, Deputy Defense Minister Asef Shawkat, and Assistant Vice President Hassan Turkmani. It was a driving force behind actions in the Damascus region. It cooperated and conducted joint operations with al-Nusra. In Sptember 2013 Saudi Arabia engineered Liwa al-Islam's merger with fifty other more or less Salafist groups as a counterweight to al-Nusra, which the Learned Elders of Islam considered was growing too powereful...
(Army of Islam) bandidos holy warriors tossed in the slammer
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
several citizens in the east Qalamoun area of rural Damascus on Friday after accusing them of planning to reconcile with the government.

Residents of al-Rahibah were rounded up by members of Jaish al-Islam on Friday and accused of attempting to reconcile the village, despite the Islamist rebel groups refusal to do so.

Recently, a group of Salafist tough guys turned in their weapons to the Syrian Arab Army in the east Qalamoun area as part of a peace deal that would allow the bandidos holy warriors to seek amnesty.

In response to the surrender of several rebels this week, Jaish al-Islam has begun arresting anyone suspected of attempting to reconcile with the government.

Hezbollah targets Daesh post along Lebanon's northeastern border

ISIS terrorist group in northeastern Leb, killing and wounding a number of them.

The media bureau of Hezbollah Operations Command announced in a statement on Friday that resistance fighters struck the murderous Moslems’ position in the Wadi al-Sahrij region of Ras Baalbek village in the northern Beqaa Valley with a rocket, Arabic-language al-Manar television network reported.

On November 21, 2016, Hezbollah fighters targeted holy warriors belonging to the Ahrar al-Sham

Front, and ISIS terrorist groups overran the eastern Lebanese town of Arsal, killing a number of Lebanese forces. They took 30 soldiers hostage, most of whom have been released.

Since then, Hezbollah and the Lebanese military have been defending Leb on the country’s northeastern frontier against foreign-backed terrorist groups from neighboring Syria.

Hezbollah fighters have fended off several ISIS attacks inside Leb. They have also been providing assistance to Syrian army forces to counter the ongoing foreign-sponsored militancy.

The movement has accused Israel of supporting Takfiri faceless myrmidons operating in the Middle East.

Israel, which continues to occupy Leb’s Shebaa Farms and Syria’s Golan Heights, is widely reported to be offering medical help to Takfiri faceless myrmidons injured in Syria. In December 2015, British newspaper the Daily Mail said Israel had saved the lives of more than 2,000 Takfiri holy warriors since 2013.

Netanyahu wants to discuss Iran 'threat' with Trump
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Saturday he planned to discuss soon with US President Donald Trump how to "counter the threat" from Iran.

"I plan to speak soon with President Trump about how to counter the threat of Iranian regime which calls for Israel's destruction," Netanyahu said in a video message posted on his Facebook page.

Before his inauguration on Friday, Trump had repeatedly denounced the nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers, including the United States, which Israel has also staunchly criticised.

Netanyahu has been an ardent opponent of the 2015 pact signed by Iran, the United States, China, Russia, Britain, France and Germany. The deal supposedly placed curbs on Tehran's nuclear programme in exchange for cash the lifting of international sanctions.

In December, Netanyahu said there were many ways of "undoing" the Iran nuclear deal and that he would discuss that with Trump. "I have about five things in mind," he said.

But before he left office, former president Barack Obama warned against rowing back the pact, emphasising its "significant and concrete results".

EU foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini has also said that the bloc would stand by the accord -- which she helped negotiate -- because it showed that diplomacy worked and served Europe's security needs.
By kicking the can down the road and allowing the evil Joooz to take it on the chin when the bill arrives...
And on Monday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani that the nuclear deal was approved by the UN Security Council and therefore "is not a bilateral deal" with the US that Trump can renegotiate.

In the video message posted online, Netanyahu also addressed the Iranian people saying "we are your friend, not your enemy".

Meanwhile, Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, whose role is largely ceremonial, said in a statement that he had invited Trump to visit Israel.

Gambia's former leader Jammeh flies into exile in Equatorial Guinea
[REUTERS] Gambia
... The Gambia is actually surrounded by Senegal on all sides but its west coast. It has a population of about 1.7 million. The difference between the two is that in colonial days Senegal was ruled by La Belle France and The Gambia (so-called because there's only one of it, unlike Guinea, of which there are the Republic of Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, New Guinea, the English coin in circulation between 1663 and 1813, and Guyana, which sounds like it should be another one) was ruled by Britain...
's former leader Yahya Jammeh on Saturday flew into exile in Equatorial Guinea after stepping down under pressure from West African nations to accept that he lost a December election to President Adama Barrow, mediators said.

His exit ends rising tension as thousands of troops from Senegal
... a nation of about 14 million on the west coast of Africa bordering Mauretania to the north, Mali to the east, and a pair of Guineas to the south, one of them Bissau. It is 90 percent Mohammedan and has more than 80 political parties. Its primary purpose seems to be absorbing refugees...
and Nigeria who entered the tiny country on Thursday were poised to swoop on the capital Banjul. It also paves the way for the return home of Barrow, who was sworn in as leader at the Gambian embassy in Senegal on Thursday.

Jammeh took power in a coup in 1994, and his government is accused of torturing and killing perceived opponents. There were few celebrations in Banjul as news of his departure spread, but some people said they felt relief after years of fear.

"The rule of fear has been banished from Gambia for good," Barrow told a crowd at a Dakar hotel on Friday, once it became clear a deal had been struck for Jammeh to relinquish power.

"To all of you forced by political circumstances to flee our country, you now have the liberty to return home," said Barrow, 51, who worked as a property developer and led an opposition coalition few thought would win the Dec. 1 vote.

The initiative to force Jammeh out will likely be viewed as a triumph for African diplomacy and could set a precedent in a region where democracy advocates have spent decades pressing for fair elections and an end to authoritarian regimes.

Jammeh's security forces offered no resistance to soldiers from West African bloc ECOWAS. Around 4,000 troops are still there and some will remain to ensure security, said Marcel de Souza, head of the ECOWAS commission.

The crisis was a test for the bloc, not least because Jammeh had held office longer than any other current president in the grouping of 15 states.

"If something like that (not accepting poll results) happens in the same way in another ECOWAS country, it will be the same treatment," de Souza told a news conference in the Senegalese capital Dakar.

Cairo prepares for meeting between Haftar and Al-Serraj
[LIBYANEXPRESS] According to high-profile Egyptian sources, Cairo will host a meeting between the leader of the Operation Dignity, Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
, and the Prime Minister of the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) Fayez al-Serraj.

"the meeting will try to build bridges between the two parties and will aim at finding a solution for the Libyan political crisis." The sources added.

Upon his last visit to Cairo, days ago, Haftar express willingness to sit with al-Serraj, the sources said on Saturday, adding that al-Serraj said he supports removing (Article No. 8) from the Libyan Political Agreement.

Article No. 8 is related to appointment of high-ranking and supreme military positions in the Libyan government.

The sources also said that Egypt is trying to bridge the gap among the conflicting parties in Libya so that the country retrieves its stability soon.

Headed by the Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Sokri, a meeting for the neighbouring countries of Libya kicked off in Cairo Saturday to try to find a suitable and common ground among Libya’s political factions so that they can all agree on implementing the Skhirat agreement.

Panic haunts as gunman fires at police in Istanbul
[NEWS.XINHUANET] An unidentified gunman on Saturday shot up police in Istanbul, marking the third armed attack in the city within 24 hours, local media reported.

No causalities were reported at the attack in which the attacker managed to escape after opening fire on a police vehicle in Istanbul's district of Esenyurt, according to CNNTurk.

The attacker remained on the lam leaving his gun and a bag containing hand grenades behind after police returned fire, CNNTurk added.

In the meantime, a truck, which supposedly has a brake failure, caused panic at the city's main police headquarters where the police opened fire into the air after the truck has not stopped at the security check point, press reports said.

Police detained two suspects in front of the headquarters in relation with the incident, according to private Dogan news agency.

On Friday evening, unidentified gunnies attacked Istanbul police headquarters and a building of ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) with flame throwers, causing no causalities.

According to press reports, police detained another five suspects in operations conducted in 15 addresses in the city over their links to the attacks.

(IS) suspects in northwestern city of Bursa over their links to the shooting attack on an Istanbul nightclub on New Year's Day, local media reported.

A gunman, identified as Abdulgadir Masharipov, a Uzbek national, rubbed out 39 people and injured 69 others in Istanbul's Reina nightclub early on New Year's Day.

He was captured on Monday night after 17 days on the loose. The IS has grabbed credit for the mass shooting.

According to Masharipov, the IS gave him 197,000 U.S. dollars after the attack for him to flee to Raqqa, an IS stronghold in Syria, CNNTurk said.

Istanbul has been hit by a series of deadly attacks over the past year.
Al Ahram adds:
Turkish authorities have identified one of the assailants responsible for Friday's attacks as a member of the outlawed Revolutionary People's Liberation Army-Front (DHKP-C), the broadcaster NTV reported on Saturday. There were no immediate claims of responsibility for either attack. Operations were under way to capture both suspects, Dogan and NTV reported.
And from An Nahar:
Authorities suggested the outlawed ultra-leftist Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) could be to blame.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

's Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said there was speculation that a "leftist terror group" was the culprit but said it was not clear which one, referring to the DHKP-C and another.

In recent years, there have been sporadic attacks by turbans from the DHKP-C, which seeks a Marxist revolution in Turkey and espouses a fiercely anti-Western agenda.

Iraq recovers 89 bodies of IS-executed soldiers at mass grave
[NEWS.XINHUANET] Iraqi authorities found Saturday the remains of some 89 bodies believed to be for soldiers of Speicher Camp who were executed by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. (IS) bandidos hard boyz when the group seized Tikrit in June 2014, a provincial security source said.

A joint committee from the security authority, forensic team and the Iraqi High Commission of Human Rights (IHCHR) arrived to the site of the mass grave at one of the former presidential palaces in central Tikrit, and began to exhume the decomposed bodies, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The latest discovery of the bodies was based on information extracted during interrogation of IS detainees who were captured earlier by the security forces, the source said.

The victims were believed to be among 1,700 soldiers who walked out of an airbase, known as Camp Speicher, north of Tikrit, some 170 km north of Baghdad, but were kidnapped and then killed by IS bandidos hard boyz and some Sunni rustics.

In June 2014, armed Sunni bully boys, spearheaded by the IS group, an al-Qaeda offshoot, launched a surprise offensive on Iraqi security forces and captured a large part of the country's northern and western territories after government troops abandoned their posts and military equipment.

The IS group later posted video footage and images showing the execution of Iraqi government soldiers.

After Iraqi security forces recaptured Tikrit from IS bandidos hard boyz in April 2015, authorities, including forensic teams, worked at several mass graves sites and unearthed hundreds of bodies, many in military uniforms or with military identity cards.

Hillary Clinton's gut-wrenching day
[CNN] It was not the Inauguration Day that Hillary Clinton
... former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, sometimes described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as a crook...
imagined.

When the skies finally opened up on Friday and rain began to fall over the US Capitol, Clinton's turn to stand before the thousands gathered on the Mall and take the oath of office as the 45th president never came.

Instead, she remained seated with her husband, Bill Clinton
...former Democratic president of the U.S. Bill was the second U.S. president to be impeached, the first to deny that oral sex was sex, the first to have difficulty with the definition of is...
, by her side. And she watched a man whom she believes is fundamentally unfit to hold the highest office of the land get sworn in as her next president.

Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
's inauguration on Friday and the ceremonial passing of the baton by Barack Obama
I inhaled. That was the point...
crystalized before a watchful nation the deeply personal loss that Clinton had suffered in November.

For the former Democratic presidential nominee, the decision to attend Friday's ceremony was not an easy one.

Clinton anticipated that it would be painful for her to watch Trump become the next president, according to a former aide, but felt she had no choice but to attend given her role both as former first lady and Trump's challenger. It weighed on her, this aide added, that her presence symbolized the peaceful transition of power, regardless of her own emotions about the day.

The Clintons arrived on Capitol Hill shortly before the swearing-in. At the same time, the presidential motorcade was making its way down Pennsylvania Ave. towards the Capitol. In one car sat two men who had each taken away Clinton's dreams of becoming president -- Obama and Trump.

Clinton wore a white coat -- something she did often on the campaign trail to represent the color women wore during the suffrage movement. She and Bill Clinton were introduced to the inaugural stage by the announcer as "the 42nd president of the United States, William Jefferson Clinton, and the honorable Hillary Rodham Clinton."
... sometimes described as Deplorable, Irredeemable and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another William H. Seward ...

For Clinton's supporters, both were painful reminders of how close Clinton -- the first woman to clinch a major political party's nomination for president -- had come to becoming to the president of the United States.

With the exception of when she exchanged pleasantries with other dignitaries on the stage, Clinton, for the most part, appeared stoic.

Trump, with his former political opponent seated behind him, delivered an inaugural address reminiscent of his campaign speeches, vowing that the "forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer."

"This American carnage stops right here and stops right now," Trump said.

#13  The sad thing about Hillary is that she cannot stand outside herself, like great leaders, and see herself and correct mistakes and improve. IMHO, Hillary was more of a figurehead than a leader to be. Her record in public "service" was lacking, to be charitable. Bill and a bunch of others put her up to this presidency thing to use her as a figurehead for their own nefarious aims. They appealed to her ego, her "right" of being the first woman president, etc. etc. The sad thing is that she really had no product to sell, other than First Woman President(TM). She was used as a cheap trick, and she maybe has started to realize this.

Top French jihadist held after return from Syria
[al-Monitor] A high-profile French jihadist was charged with terrorist offences and remanded in jug on Saturday, a day after being transferred to La Belle France from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, where he had turned himself in to authorities.

Kevin Guiavarch, a 24-year-old who converted to Islam 10 years ago, was one of the UN's most wanted jihadists and had been placed on a blacklist in 2014.

Suspected as being one of the major Islamic State

group recruiters attracting young French people to join the jihadist cause in Syria and Iraq, Guiavarch rubbed shoulders with some of the perpetrators of the November 2015 Gay Paree attacks while living in Raqa, IS's de facto capital.

The former church choirboy, who was raised by a single mother in Brittany, now claims to be "reformed" -- though he has also told French author David Thomson, who wrote a book about returning jihadists, that he left IS because he was afraid of dying.

He spent four years in Syria amongst jihadists, first with former al-Qaeda affiliate the Fateh al-Sham
...formerly al-Nusra, the current false nose and mustache of al-Qaeda in the Levant...

He quit Syria in June 2016 with his four French wives and six children, and went to Turkey where they were all placed in durance vile
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
All four wives had already been deported to La Belle France.

Guiavarch, who had been the subject of an international arrest warrant, arrived in the French capital on Friday night before on Saturday being charged with association of a criminal terrorist organization and financing terrorism, the Gay Paree prosecutor said.

French authorities will now try to determine whether Guiavarch is truly reformed or part of a sleeper cell aiming to carry out attacks in La Belle France at a later date.

What to do with returning jihadists -- whether claiming to be reformed or not -- is a major concern for many European countries.

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi Joint Operations Command’s War Media Cell announced on Saturday, that a large cache of weapons belonging to the Islamic State group was destructed by an air strike, west of Anbar.

The Cell said in a brief statement, “Iraqi Air Force carried out an air strike, based on information obtained from the National Security Service, destroying a large cache of weapons and equipment belonging to the Islamic State in al-Rumeiya area in Qaim District, west of Anbar.”

Noteworthy, Islamic State group captured the western areas of Anbar Province in mid-2014, while Iraqi security forces continued their preparations to liberate these areas and cities few weeks ago.

Kop wounded in IRD attack in Hasiba

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) An Iraqi policeman survived an explosive device blast in Anbar on Saturday, a security source has said.

“The IED placed under a car belonging to a police captain at Anbar police exploded this morning at the region of Hasiba, east of Ramadi, leaving only material damages,” the source told Alsumaria News.

Islamic State militants, who took large areas of Iraq in 2014 to establish a so-called “Islamic Caliphate” have stepped up attacks in the past few months outside Mosul, the group’s largest bastion in Iraq where a three-month-old security campaign has driven the group out of a half of the city.

Four army personnel were killed on Friday when Islamic State militants attacked their patrol on a road between Ramadi and Rutba.

The Iraqi army command in Anbar declared on the 5th of January the start of operations to retake western Anbar regions, close to the borders with Syria, from militants. The operations lasted for a few days, recapturing a few villages, before halting again. Observes see confusion regarding readiness to launch operations in the province, pointing out to the fact that the start of the security offensive was not officially declared by Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi as was the case with Mosul, where government forces have entered a third month of battles with the group.

Security sources said a week earlier that the government had decided to halt battles in Anbar until the end of operations in Mosul. The replacement of the army’s operations commander in Anbar, Ismail al-Mahallawi, cast more doubts on the reason behind the halt.

1 dead in bomb attack in al-Karma

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) One person was killed and 20 others were wounded on Saturday when a bomb blast hit al-Karma region, east of Ramadi, Anbar.

Aref al-Jumaili, a member of al-Karma’s council board, said the IED exploded inside a tribal guesthouse. He said the casualties included a brigadier at the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), the militias fighting Islamic State militants on the side of the Iraqi government.

Nobody claimed responsibility for the bombing, but Islamic State militants, who took large areas of Iraq in 2014 to establish a so-called “Islamic Caliphate”, have stepped up attacks in the past few months outside Mosul, the group’s largest bastion in Iraq where a three-month-old security campaign has driven the group out of a half of the city.

...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) group from their last strongholds in the northern outskirts of the city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, the Iraqi military said.

The army soldiers, backed by Iraqi and U.S.-led coalition aircraft, took full control of al-Arabi neighborhood after heavy festivities with IS Lions of Islam and raised the Iraqi flags on some of its buildings, the Iraqi Joint Operations Command (JOC) said in a statement.

The festivities resulted in the killing of 27 IS Lions of Islam and the destruction of a tank at the adjacent IS-held neighborhood of al-Rashidiyah, which became the last neighborhood under control of the hard boy group, the statement said.

Also in the day, the soldiers recaptured al-Qowsiyat village in north of Rashidiyah after heavy festivities with IS Lions of Islam and Arclight airstrikes on their positions, leaving some 40 Lions of Islam killed and four boom-mobiles destroyed, the statement added.

In central Mosul, the commandos of the Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) continued their operations to clear the neighborhoods and areas freed recently from IS Lions of Islam after the elite troops fulfilled their mission by recapturing the whole central part of the eastern side of the city, locally known as the left bank the Tigris River which bisects Mosul, according to the statement.

The commander of the elite Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) forces said on Wednesday that CTS troops are now in full control of the main part of the eastern side of Mosul.

"CTS forces have completely retaken control of the eastern side of Mosul," Lt. Gen. Talib Shghati told news hounds.

"The only neighborhoods left in Mosul are in the northern part of the city which the army units are fighting to liberate soon," Shghati said, adding that Mosul's five bridges over the Tigris river are all under security forces' control.

Ecuador to extend asylum to Wikileaks' founder "for as long as he wishes"
[NEWS.XINHUANET] Ecuador's President Rafael Correa said Friday that his government would offer asylum to Wikileaks' founder Julian Assange for as long as the whistleblower wants.

"If he wishes to give up asylum and hand himself over, that is his decision. But if he wants to remain under protection, the Ecuadorian state will continue (offering it)," Correa told the press during a trip to the coastal province of Esmeraldas.

Correa spoke out after Assange said Thursday that he would accept to be extradited to the United States if his rights are protected.

The former hacker and journalist has been living at the Ecuadorian embassy in London since 2012 to avoid being extradited to Sweden, where he is wanted in connection with the sexual assault of two women.

Coalition warplanes take out Islamic State fleet in Mosul
[USATODAY] U.S.-led coalition warplanes successfully targeted a flotilla of 90 Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. boats being used by the forces of Evil to cross the Tigris River in a desperate effort to escape fighting in eastern djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, the U.S. military announced Saturday.

The Arclight airstrikes occurred as coalition-backed security forces seized the eastern portion of Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city, and began preparations for clearing the western side of the city. The city is divided by the Tigris River.

The strikes targeted 90 boats and three barges between Wednesday and Friday, the coalition said in a statement. Most were being used by the Islamic State, also called ISIS or ISIS, to escape from the eastern part of the city, which has been secured by Iraqi forces in recent days. Since the Mosul operation began in October, the coalition has hit 112 watercraft on the Tigris River in Mosul.

"We believe this was a desperate attempt to retrograde ISIS fighters now that the Iraqi security forces own the eastern bank of every bridge in Mosul," Col. John Dorrian, a coalition front man, said in the statement.

U.S.-coalition aircraft earlier disabled five bridges that cross the Tigris River in an effort to prevent forces of Evil from sending fighters and boom-mobiles across the river to attack Iraqi forces as they fought through the eastern part of the city.

U.S.-backed Iraqi security forces are now preparing to retake the western part of the city, a densely populated area with thousands of civilians. Iraqi forces are holding the eastern part of the city as additional forces press in from the north and south.

The Mosul offensive was launched three months ago in an effort to recapture the Islamic State’s remaining stronghold in Iraq. A U.S.-backed force of about 45,000 Arabs and Kurds is simultaneously closing in on Raqqa, the Islamic State’s defacto capital in neighboring Syria.

It is not clear how many forces of Evil were killed in the strikes, but the coalition wants to prevent fighters from escaping Mosul and fleeing to Raqqa.

ISIS executioner kidnapped in Kirkuk

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) Unknown gunmen kidnapped on Saturday a leading member of the Islamic State at the center of the town of Hawija, one of the remaining IS pockets in the province.

News reports quoted the sources as saying that the armed group, boarding a civilian vehicle, kidnapped the militant, nicknamed Abu Tayba al-Anbari, who oversaw a series of executions of prisoners held by the group on Friday in Hawija.

Several instances of Islamic State members assassinations have been reported in some group strongholds in Iraq over the past few weeks.

The group took over several Iraqi cities in 2014 to proclaim a self-styled “Islamic Caliphate”, but a major campaign since October, carried out by Iraqi security forces and popular militias, and backed by US-led advisers and troops, has forced the group to cede much territory, most notably the city of Mosul, its last urban stronghold in Iraq and its previously-proclaimed capital. Nearly 3300 group members were killed since operations launched, according to Iraqi army commanders.

The group has tried to make up for losses and to distract security forces with attacks on civilians and troops at other provinces, especially in Baghdad, Anbar and Salahuddin.

ISIS using murals to stoke sectarian tensions in Mosul

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State militants have begun attempts to stoke sectarian tensions in western Mosul with abusive wall paintings, a local source in Nineveh has said.

The group is trying to induce a state of chaos in the city of Tal Afar before Iraqi government forces begin operations to recapture the group’s stronghold in Mosul’s west, the source told Alsumaria News. Some of the walls in Tal Afar are bearing sectarian phrases, the source added.

“Daesh (Islamic State) have accused whom they called security collaborators of being behind those sectarian murals in an obvious attempt to deceive the public,” said the source. He stressed that citizens had not been taken in by the attempt, especially as some had seen IS members painting them overnight.

On Wednesday, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said the basic military plan for Mosul’s liberation had been completed “in most combat axes” with the recapture of central Mosul, adding that operations continue to liberate “a few other regions” in the north of the city.

Iraqi army’s elite Counter-Terrorism Forces hav said they had retaken all districts assigned to them in eastern Mosul, killing 3300 militants since operations launched in October 2016.

ISIS destroys Mosul hotel, killing 12

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State members on Saturday blew up Mosul’s second biggest hotel in the city’s western section, while 12 militants were killed in security offensives in the northeast.

A security source was quoted by Mawazin News Agency as saying that the city’s second biggest, 236-room Mosul Hotel was blown up by militants, but did not explain the extent of the damage from the explosion. He said IS members filled the building with TNT barrels.

The city’s biggest hotel, Nineveh Oberoi, a 262-room facility, was blown up by the group in October, but was recaptured last week by security forces.

In the eastern section, where government joint forces are a few districts away from announcing a total recapture of that region, Walid Khalifa Majid, a Brigadier-General at the army’s 9th division, said troops killed 12 IS members in Alam Louk village. He said troops proceeded towards al-Qawsiyat area in the north, one of the last few remaining regions held by the extremist group in eastern Mosul.

On Wednesday, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said the basic military plan for Mosul’s liberation had been completed “in most combat axes” with the recapture of central Mosul, adding that operations continue to liberate “a few other regions” in the north of the city.

Iraqi forces find mass grave in Salahuddin

Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi authorities announced on Saturday discovering a mass grave containing bodies of 89 victims of Camp Speicher massacre that were executed by the Islamic State, after capturing the city of Tikrit in June 2014.

A source in Salahuddin Police Command told the Chinese Agency ‘Xinhua’ that security forces received information, obtained from the detained members of the Islamic State, indicating to the presence of a mass grave in the presidential palaces area in central Tikrit, containing remains of Camp Speicher’s victims.

“A specialized committee of the Ministry of Health and Human Rights Watch examined the grave, and exhumed 89 bodies of Camp Speicher’s victims,” the source added.

The source also revealed that the bodies will be sent to the forensic medicine department, in order to identify the identities of bodies.

After capturing the city of Tikrit in June 2014, Islamic State group executed more than 1700 Iraqi soldiers in Camp Speicher base, northwest of Tikrit, then threw dozens of the bodies in the Tigris River and buried hundreds in mass graves.

ISIS executioner dies in Mosul

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) A senior leader of Islamic State was gunned down by unknown attackers in western Mosul on Saturday, according to a a security source.

The militant, nicknamed “Abu Abdulrahman”, a Saudi national, was shot at by unknown gunmen in al-Askari district, the source said in a press statement.

He was responsible for executions of females in that region, according to the source.

Islamic State militants still control most of the western section of Mosul, and are almost driven out from the east as Iraqi government forces have become a few districts away from declaring eastern Mosul IS-free.

#1  Would I be a 'bad person' for wishing the captured executioner was given some of ISIS' same medicine they gave their prisoners? boiled alive, acid baths, burnt alive, drowned; almost a Baskin-Robbins sized menu of dispatch methods.
