So The Democrats Have Decided To Run On Abolishing ICE
[Hot Air] Dear Democrats: Is this really the hill you want to die on? If so, please be our guests.

As I’ve discussed here in the past, it’s often easier in political terms to fight from the cheap seats as the minority party than it is to actually take control and run the government. When the GOP was in that position we often saw some rather wacky ideas cropping up when candidates would take a viable debate point and turn up the volume to eleven until they reached an illogical extreme. If one candidate proposes building a wall on the Mexican border, you can bet that it won’t be long until someone else comes along and demands that it include a moat filled with sharks with lasers mounted on them.

Now we’re seeing a similar phenomenon on the left where the Democrats are huddled in the minority position. Complaining about deportations, defending criminal illegal immigrants and pushing for sanctuary policies are all the rage right now. So, of course, someone had to similarly crank the thermostat of hot takes up to the maximum setting and call for abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) entirely. The Daily Caller noted yesterday that this is already affecting potential POTUS contenders for the Democratic primary.

#6  I pay the Democrats no attention. They are a foolish bunch. So many mistakes. So many problems they bring on themselves. It is truly sad to see how poorly the party has become. I stopped going to Drudge because of the Cruz slam. Texas becoming a blue state. Well Cruz won dramatically. Wasn't even close. All the Democrats combined tallied less than Cruz. It seems the only news media we have these days is fake news. That's what burned me about the news media on Vietnam. I went shortwave to get news not parroted here. An old timer told me years ago that if you want to be happy in this world don't watch TV or read the newspaper. That is so true these days.

Justice Department files regulation to ban rifle 'bump stocks'
[Reuters] The U.S. Department of Justice formally submitted a regulation on Saturday to ban "bump stocks," a modification to high-capacity rifles that lets them fire like an automatic weapon.

President Donald Trump signed a memorandum in February directing the department to make the regulatory change, which must now be approved by the Office of Management and Budget before it is published and subject to a commentary period.

The move does not require congressional approval, allowing the administration to side-step what could have been insurmountable pressure from pro-gun groups such as the National Rifle Association that have worked to erode changes in firearm laws in the wake of mass shootings in Florida and Nevada.

Megyn Kelly: ‘I Think There's a Very Good Chance' Putin Knows Things Trump Doesn't ‘Want Repeated Publicly'
[Breitbart] On Friday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s "Hardball," NBC anchor Megyn Kelly previewed her forthcoming NBC special "Confronting Putin" and stated that she thinks "there’s a very good chance Putin knows some things about Donald Trump that Mr. Trump does not want repeated publicly."

Kelly said, "I would not say that Putin likes Trump. I did not glean that at all from him. I do think ‐ I did glean that perhaps he has something on Donald Trump. And if you watch the special tonight, you’ll see perhaps what that might be. Because we’ve done a lot of research. It’s not just Vladimir Putin tonight. It’s a lot of experts who understand Putin and Trump and the relationship between the two. And so, when I was asking him, why do you think Donald Trump never says anything unkind about you ever? I think it’s more than just he admires this Russian strongman, Chris. I think there’s a very good chance Putin knows some things about Donald Trump that Mr. Trump does not want repeated publicly."

She added that she doesn’t think Putin has anything on Trump related to the Steele Dossier, and "[J]ust having done the research we did for this piece and this investigative report, I think it has to do with money, and Trump’s early years dealing with the Russians back in the ’90s, his facilities here in the United States."

Fugitive Cities Have Harbored 10,000 Criminal-Alien Recidivists
[National Review] Let’s stop calling them ’sanctuaries.’

The phrase "sanctuary cities" is warm and welcoming. Sanctuaries are safe, cozy, and sometimes therapeutic. This term is also a deceptive euphemism for something thoroughly unacceptable.

Conservatives redefined the debate on the "estate tax" when 60 Plus Association founder Jim Martin rechristened it the "Death Tax." Likewise, those who seek law, order, and sanity in immigration should refer to "sanctuary cities" as "fugitive cities."

Anyone who hides a wanted criminal from federal officials could be prosecuted for harboring a fugitive. According to 18 U.S. Code § 1071, it is "an offense to harbor or conceal any person for whose arrest a warrant or process has been issued, so as to prevent the fugitive’s discovery and arrest." Also, 8 U.S. Code § 1324 prohibits sheltering illegal aliens from authorities. Breaking these laws can cost up to five years behind bars.

"A bomb went off near market in al-Nasr wal Salam region in Abu Ghraib district, west of Baghdad, leaving three people maimed," the source told Baghdad Today website.

"Ambulances arrived to the blast spot to transfer the injured to nearby hospital, before security troops arrived to conduct investigations," the source added.

French Islamic school teacher jailed for beating & shaving off student’s ‘un-Koranic’ blonde hair
[RT] An Islamic school teacher in La Belle France has been sentenced to one year in jail for brutally beating his 12-year-old student and for shaving off the boy’s "non-Koranic" hair, which was colored blonde.

The teacher, along with three other men, was convicted of kidnapping and violence against a minor by the Pontoise criminal court on Friday, French media report. The shocking incident occurred last April, when the boy showed up at his Arabic class at the Sablon mosque, in the municipality of Sarcelles, north off Gay Paree.

The teacher apparently did not favor the new hairstyle sported by the student, saying his blonde fringe went against "Koranic rules." As a "punishment," he decided to shave off his pupil’s tinted hair in the middle of class.

In Dire Revenge, the boy later pelted the offender’s house with eggs only to run into more trouble. The teacher called the boy’s stepfather and got permission to teach him "a good lesson," with the condition that it wouldn’t leave marks on his body.

The boy was sent to clean up the mess made by the eggs but, when he showed up at his teacher’s house, he was attacked by him and three others. The teacher, his 20-year-old brother and two youth workers employed by the city held the boy for around two hours slapping and punching him, with breaks to give the teen water and a handkerchief.

When the young victim was finally released and arrived home, his stepfather, who himself eventually got a six-month suspended sentence, ignored the boy’s swollen face and bruises.

"This is not a religious problem but an educational one," the teacher’s lawyer insisted at court, adding that his client regretted the punishment, and that it went beyond what he had intended. In the meantime, the three other men were given from six to eight months behind bars, while the boy was awarded €5,000 in compensation.

California gunman who killed three in veteran center was ex-patient
[IsraelTimes] Three women devoted to helping traumatized soldiers rubbed out by Afghanistan war veteran; authorities say motive unclear

Three women who devoted their lives to helping traumatized veterans were killed by a patient who had been kicked out of their Northern Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, treatment program, authorities and a relative of a victim said.

A daylong siege at The Pathway Home ended Friday evening with the discovery of four bodies, including the gunman. He was identified as Albert Wong, 36, a former Army rifleman who served a year in Afghanistan in 2011-2012.

Investigators were still trying to determine when and why Wong killed two executives and a psychologist at The Pathway Home, a nonprofit post-traumatic stress disorder program at the Veterans Home of California-Yountville in the Napa Valley wine country region.

It was "far too early to say if they were chosen at random" because Sherlocks had not yet determined a motive, California Highway Patrol Assistant Chief Chris Childs said.

Gov. Jerry Governor Moonbeam Brown
... those who ignore history are bound to repeat it...
ordered flags flown at half-staff at the capitol in memory of the victims. They were identified as The Pathway Home Executive Director Christine Loeber, 48; Clinical Director Jennifer Golick, 42; and Jennifer Gonzales, 29, a clinical psychologist with the the Socialist paradise of San Francisco
...where God struck dead Anton LaVey, home of the Sydney Ducks, ruled by Vigilance Committee from 1859 through 1867, reliably and volubly Democrat since 1964...
Department of Veterans Affairs Healthcare System.

"These brave women were accomplished professionals who dedicated their careers to serving our nation’s veterans, working closely with those in the greatest need of attention after deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan," The Pathway Home said in a statement.

Golick’s father-in-law, Bob Golick, said in an interview she had recently expelled Wong from the program.

The Pathway Home is located on the sprawling campus of the veterans center, which cares for about 1,000 elderly and disabled vets. It is the largest veterans home in the nation, according to the state Department of Veterans Affairs.

Wong went to the campus about 53 miles (85 kilometers) north of San Francisco on Friday morning, slipping into a going-away party for some employees of The Pathway House.

Larry Kamer told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that his wife, Devereaux Smith, called him to say that the gunman had entered the room quietly, letting some people leave while taking others hostage.

Golick called her husband, Mark, to say that she had been taken hostage by the former soldier, her father-in-law said. Mark Golick didn’t hear from her again, Malick said.

A Napa Valley sheriff’s deputy exchanged gunshots with the hostage-taker at about 10:30 a.m. but after that nothing was heard from Wong or his hostages despite daylong efforts to contact him, authorities said.

Army veteran and resident Bob Sloan, 73, was working at the home’s TV station when a co-worker came in and said he had heard four gunshots coming from The Pathway Home. Sloan sent alerts for residents to stay put.

A group of about 80 students who were on the home’s grounds were safely evacuated after being locked down, Napa County Sheriff John Robertson said. The teens from Justin-Siena High School were at a theater rehearsing a play.

"They were a distance away from the shooting situation," Robertson said.

The bodies of Wong and the women were found at about 6 p.m. While authorities had the building under siege for about eight hours they didn’t enter it.

Wong’s rental car was later found nearby. A bomb-sniffing dog alerted authorities to something on the car but the only thing found was a cellphone, authorities said.

Yvette Bennett, a wound-care supply worker who supplies the veterans center, was turned back when she tried to deliver what she called urgently needed medical supplies for two patients inside.

Of all the medical institutions she has worked with, "this is the most placid, calm, serene place," she said.

Assad regime said to cut off largest town in rebel-held Ghouta
[IsraelTimes] Keen to secure Damascus, Russia-backed government troops continue to close in on enclave, killing nearly 1,000 civilians in under a month

Syrian troops on Saturday cut off the largest town in Eastern Ghouta from the rest of the rebel-held enclave which is now split in three, a monitor said.

The army captured a road linking the town of Douma with Harasta further west, and also captured the town of Misraba, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

"Regime forces have therefore divided Eastern Ghouta into three parts ‐ Douma and its surroundings, Harasta in the west, and the rest of the towns further south," the Britannia-based war monitor said.

An AFP correspondent inside Douma said shelling and air strikes were rocking the town on Saturday.

Besieged by government forces since 2013, Ghouta is the last remaining rebel-held area near the capital.

Keen to secure Damascus, government troops and allied militias have been closing in on the enclave since February 18 and have overrun more than half of it.

Nearly 950 civilians have been killed since Russia-backed government forces launched a blistering assault on the last opposition bastion near Damascus on February 18.

Eastern Ghouta’s 400,000 inhabitants have lived under government siege since 2013 and the enclave ‐ more than half of which has over the past three weeks been retaken by regime forces ‐ is home to a myriad of gangs.

Apart from Islamist groups such as Jaish al-Islam
...Liwa al-Islam (Brigade of Islam) was established by Zahran Alloush, the son of Saudi-based religious scholar Abdullah Mohammed Alloush, after Syrian authorities released him from prison in mid-2011 where he had been serving time for his Salafist activism. The group claimed responsibility for carrying out the July 2012 Damascus bombing that killed Defense Minister Dawoud Rajiha, Deputy Defense Minister Asef Shawkat, and Assistant Vice President Hassan Turkmani. It was a driving force behind actions in the Damascus region. It cooperated and conducted joint operations with al-Nusra. In Sptember 2013 Saudi Arabia engineered Liwa al-Islam's merger with fifty other more or less Salafist groups as a counterweight to al-Nusra, which the Learned Elders of Islam considered was growing too powereful...
, jihadists from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham
(HTS), who are mostly linked to al-Qaeda, are also deployed there.

Syrian state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
aired footage of a single bus carrying 13 "fighters" and family members out of the enclave through al-Wafideen checkpoint, without giving their affiliation.

Some appeared to be young, while others wore hoodies to cover their heads and faces.

The limited operation came as the powerful Jaish al-Islam said HTS fighters would be evacuated to the northern province of Idlib, in an arrangement struck following consultations with the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
and other international players.

"It has been agreed that the first group of HTS members be released from the prisons of Jaish al-Islam ... (and) moved to Idlib at their request," Jaish al-Islam said.

HTS is the main force in Idlib, in Syria’s northwest and the last province outside regime control.
An Nahar adds:
Civilians continued to bear the brunt of the violence on Friday with at least six killed in air strikes on the area of Jisreen, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitor said.

Thirteen trucks loaded with 2,400 food parcels, meanwhile, crossed into Eastern Ghouta, the International Committee of the Red Cross said, entering what UN chief Antonio Guterres has called "hell on earth".

But "shelling" near the enclave's main town of Douma threatened "to put at risk" the joint ICRC, Syrian Arab Red Crescent and United Nations convoy, said the UN humanitarian coordinator in Syria, Ali al-Zaatari.

The aid was delivered as helicopters hovered overhead and warplanes targeted areas outside Douma, a correspondent said.

The World Health Organization said it has verified 67 hits on medical facilities in Syria through January and February, nearly half of them in Eastern Ghouta.

The facilities hit included 20 hospitals, 16 health facilities, two ambulance stations and one medical supply warehouse.

Doctors and nurses in the enclave have run out of several life-saving items, according to Doctors Without Borders (MSF), which reported a "terrible medical catastrophe."

"Medical material is extremely limited, medical infrastructure has been hit and medical staff are exhausted," it said, adding that hundreds of people have been wounded and need urgent assistance.

In the face of the regime's Russian-backed onslaught, Ghouta's main rebel groups had so far rejected Moscow-brokered offers to evacuate civilians or any of their own fighters.

... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
threatened again to "purge" Kurdish militia from the town.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
launched operation "Olive Branch" on January 20 against the powerful Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG), which controls the Afrin region in northwest Syria and which Ankara regards as a "terror group".

On Saturday, the Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said the attacking forces had scored a fresh advance.

"Ottoman Turkish forces (and allied rebels) are on the edges of Afrin, less than two kilometres from the town's northeast," said Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman.

They successfully captured the Brigade 135 military base from Kurdish forces, both Abdel Rahman and an AFP correspondent embedded with the rebel groups said.

Pro-Ankara fighters could be seen taking heavy machine guns and ammunition from the base, even as they continued to exchange fire with nearby Kurdish fighters.

Ankara says the YPG is the Syrian branch of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which has fought a three-decade insurgency in southeast Turkey.

"Olive Branch" initially made slow progress, but the capture on Thursday of Jandairis, a major town in the Kurdish-held enclave, has given the operation a clear shot at the central town of Afrin.

The operation's media branch on Saturday said their new push had left Afrin's eastern side "exposed" to advancing fighters.

Erdogan has said his troops and the Syrian fighters they were backing could break into the town "at any moment," and on Saturday said they could go even further east.

"Once we have purged the hard boyz (from Afrin) we will then cleanse them from Manbij, Ayn al-Arab (Kobane), Tel-Abyad, Ras al-Ayn and Qamishli," he said in televised comments.

Manbij, the next main YPG-held town east of Afrin, is a particular flashpoint as it has an American military presence there.

Fighting was raging on Saturday on other fronts around Afrin in an attempt to besiege it and cut it off from other areas, the Observatory.

Abdel Rahman said that the advance sparked "major concerns" for tens of thousands of civilians in the town of Afrin.

Thousands of people have fled heavy shelling on villages and towns near the Ottoman Turkish border, many of them into Afrin town.

Only one route currently leads out of the town and into government-controlled zones in Syria's northern province of Aleppo.

Last month, pro-regime forces entered the Afrin region to take a stand against the Ottoman Turkish offensive.

According to the Observatory, Turkey and allied Syrian opposition factions now hold 60 percent of the Afrin region.

The monitor says at least 370 YPG fighters and 340 rebel fighters have died since the assault began.

It says more than 200 civilians have also been killed, but Turkey denies the reports and says it takes the "utmost care" to avoid civilian casualties.

Ankara says 42 Ottoman Turkish soldiers have died in the fight.

#1  Kurdish media is reporting that even though Turk/Al Nusra (Al Qaeda Syria) is moving close to Afrin, YPG/YPJ fighters are popping up behind the enemy lines and inflicting large numbers of losses after many scenes of civilian deaths appeared in the media.

Firat News Agency claims approx. 450 invaders killed during the past 48 hours, over 750 killed by the YPG/YPJ forces during the past 4 days.

The YPG/YPJ guerrilla force is huge behind enemy lines. Numerous invasion vehicles have been destroyed during the past 4 days.

#4  TW,

Actually, the Twitter feeds are rather amazing. As Turk artillery and air munitions burst all around them in the main objective city of Afrin, old women are dancing and ululating every time a shell hits the ground in joyfull defiance of Erdogan. The old men blair Kurdish music over loud speekers.

In Europe and England Kurdish protesters are blocking and sitting on tracks of commuter trains to try to get the media and governments to do something. YPG/YPJ are popping up and fiercely fighting on the ground behind the lines. SDA and Turk soldiers are taking many more casualties and the angry SDA are taking video of brutal executions and posting them in retaliation.

While all of this is occurring 100s of Kurd civilians pass through the lines each day to come to die in Afrin city as human shields.

Sri Lanka to Probe Anti-Muslim Riots, Lift Curfew
[AnNahar] An investigation into anti-Moslem riots that spread in central Sri Lanka prompting the authorities to declare a nationwide state of emergency was announced Saturday by President Maithripala Sirisena.

A panel of three retired judges will probe the breakdown in law and order in the picturesque hill resort of Kandy, Sirisena's office said in a statement.

Three people died, 20 others were maimed and more than 200 Moslem-owned businesses and homes were destroyed in four days of rioting that died down on Thursday.

Eleven mosques were also damaged or completely destroyed by Sinhalese mobs, according to police who say the situation has been brought under control after a heavy military deployment.

A curfew in the district, which is 115 kilometres (72 miles) east of the capital Colombo, was lifted at dawn Saturday but army soldiers continued to patrol alongside police, officials said.

Sri Lanka's Moslem minority held their Friday prayers under military protection across the island amid fears of fresh attacks. However,
a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package...
the weekly religious activity went off without incident, authorities said.

Hundreds of Buddhist monks and activists staged demonstrations in Colombo on Friday denouncing the anti-Moslem attacks and urging authorities to take strong action against the perpetrators.

Police said nearly 150 people, including the main instigator, have been tossed in the clink
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
over the unrest.

They named the main suspect as Amith Weerasinghe, a man from the mainly Buddhist Sinhalese majority known for anti-Moslem activism and outspoken social media posts, and said he was taken into custody on Thursday.

The government declared a state of emergency on Tuesday as the unrest escalated when a Moslem man was found dead in a burnt-out building, a day after a Sinhalese man died of injuries sustained in an attack carried out by Moslem men.

First group of militants surrender arms & leave East Ghouta after Russia-brokered talks

"Certain representatives of illegal gangs have intensified attempts to get in touch with the Syrian government forces and the Russian Center for Reconciliation with the aim of discussing their separation from the banned terrorist group Jabhat al-Nusra," Major General Yury Yevtushenko, the head of the Reconciliation Center in Syria, said in a statement on Friday.

Efforts to separate the so-called moderate opposition fighters from jihadists continue in the Damascus suburb of Eastern Ghouta. The Syrian government established a humanitarian corridor which remains open to both civilians and murderous Moslems who are willing to lay down their arms.

On one news item
[DavidWarrenOnline] If Mohammed bin Salman can stay alive and in power, many things become possible, that were not possible before.

In Egypt, the Saudi prince said many surprising things, widely reported in Arabic media but ignored here. He visited not only Al Azhar (the citadel of learned, moderate Sunni Islam), but also the Coptic pope (Tawadros II) at St Mark’s; and invited Copts to visit his country. He allowed a photo-op under a pictorial representation of Jesus Christ. This was previously unthinkable. It bodes well for Christian minorities in Saudi Arabia itself, and across the region. (God bless that Jewish boy, Kushner, for his part in this.)

Something large and potentially very positive is happening, and yet it is ignored by our media, obsessed instead with tabloid things that are small, dirty, and inconsequential.

Global demand rising for Russian-built nuclear power plants
[RT] Russia's state nuclear corporation Rosatom expects to sign foreign contracts worth $26 billion this year for the construction and maintenance of nuclear power plants, official data shows.

According to its results for 2017, Rosatom’s portfolio of foreign orders for the next decade totals $133.6 billion. The company traditionally calculates its portfolio of orders for a period of 10 years. Head of Rosatom Alexei Likhachev told news hounds that the firm hopes to exceed the $130-billion mark.

The Russian company has recently inked agreements on nuclear cooperation with India, Iran, Egypt, China, and a number of other countries. It is bidding to construct 16 nuclear power plants in Soddy Arabia

-War on Police-
Oakland Coffee Shop Will Not Serve Cops for ‘Safety of Customers’
[BREITBART] Oakland coffee shop Hasta Muerte Coffee refuses to serve police due to a concern for the "safety of customers."

The policy came to light after NBC Bay Area reported the coffee shop refused to serve an officer in uniform on February 16.

KCRA reports that the store took to social media, saying, "We have a policy of asking police to leave for the physical and emotional safety of our customers and ourselves."

An Instagram post by Hasta Muerte provides an overview of the store’s position, saying in part:

We know in our experience working on campaigns against police brutality that we are not alone saying that police presence compromises our feeling of physical & emotional safety. There are those that do not share that sentiment ‐ be it because they have a friend or relative who is a police, because they are white or have adopted the privileges whiteness affords, because they are home- or business- owning, or whatever the particular case may be. If they want to make claims about police being part of the community, or claims that race trumps the badge & gun when it comes to police, they must accept that the burden of proof for such a claim is on them.

Hasta Muerte also noted, "The facts are that [people of color], women, and queer police are complicit in upholding the same law and order that routinely criminalizes and terrorizes black and brown and poor folks, especially youth, trans, and houseless folks."

This statement dovetails with KCRA’s report that Hasta Muetre shared a post in Spanish, which said, "Talk to your neighbors, not the police."

The refusal to serve police comes as the Trump administration is suing Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, for the state’s sanctuary city policy.

mysterious and deadly new epidemic called Disease X that could kill millions around the world
[MIRROR.CO.UK] An unknown and deadly new illness dubbed Disease X has been added to the list of potential global epidemics that could kill millions.

Each year scientists with the World Health Organisation (WHO) create a list of the most likely diseases to break out into a worldwide pandemic.

This year, among the familiar Ebola, SARS, and Zika viruses is the new name of Disease X.

And unlike the other pathogens, it is not known what causes Disease X or how doctors could try to treat it.

Researchers said that they added Disease X to the threat list to recognise the fact that the next deadly pandemic could be started by an illness that has not caused any problems before.

#6  The left is being hypocritical about this, but looking at the realistic best case (treaty, Norks cash in Danegeld, Norks cheat) I'm skeptical.

However the fact that the Trump administration has set other preconditions for the meeting after both sides had publicly agreed to meet, which is a typical North Korean style maneuver suggests that this might actually be an effort to increase psychological pressure on the Nork leadership.

Trump, after all defeated Hillary by campaigning like a leftist.

Trial of Omar Mateen’s Wife Challenges Assumptions About Pulse Nightclub Shooting
[Breitbart] The trial of jihadi killer Omar Mateen
... the Afghan-"American" who decided he was a soldier of the Caliphate and shot fifty unarmed people to death in a Florida gay bar he used to frequent...
’s wife Noor Salman is still in the jury selection phase, but documents filed with the court have challenged some assumptions about the Pulse nightclub massacre, most notably the idea that Mateen targeted the Orlando, Florida, club because it catered to gay patrons.

Instead, a motion by the defense claims that Mateen scouted several other sites first and settled on the Pulse because it had weak security.

German man imprisoned for trampling daughter to death during exorcism
[RT] A German man has been tossed in the slammer
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
in Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
for trampling his mentally-challenged daughter to death while trying to exorcise a demon. The 50-year-old was also accused of sexually assaulting his daughter in an effort to revive her.

The unnamed man told the Frauenfeld District Court in the canton of Thurgau, Switzerland, that he was simply giving his daughter a "massage" to drive out a demon during the night in question in January 2016, DW reports.

Videos reenacting the brutal exorcism were shown to the court using a life-size straw puppet. The demonstration showed how the man would have stood on his 25-year-old daughter as she lay on the floor, and repeatedly kicked her in the stomach.

The prosecution also alleged the man raped his daughter while she was dying, or already dead, in an effort to revive her; he was acquitted on that charge. Autopsy reports confirmed the woman died of internal injuries, according to Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

Over 250 migrants rescued off Libya coast: Navy
[AnNahar] The Libyan navy on Saturday rescued 252 migrants colonists seeking to reach Europe, in two separate operations off the country's western coast.

"We were alerted... to the position of a migrant boat" around 30 kilometres (20 miles) off Zawiya, west of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, navy captain Rami al-Hadi Ghomed said.

He said the 140 migrants colonists on board, including 14 women and four children, were brought back to Tripoli's naval base before being transferred to a detention centre.

The second rescue operation took place around 50 kilometres off Garabulli, east of the capital.

The navy rescued "112 migrants colonists, including 30 women and three children, aboard an inflatable boat", said navy front man Ayoub Kacem.

"The migrants colonists, from African countries.... were given medical care before being transferred to the Tajoura detention centre" in Tripoli, Kacem said.

The navy gave no details on the origin of the boats, but smugglers usually launch departures from western Libya, just 300 kilometres from the Italian coast.

Recent years have seen thousands of migrants colonists infiltrate the vast southern border of Libya in attempts to cross the Mediterranean to Europe.

At least 337 migrants colonists have died or disappeared off the coast of Libya since the start of the year, according to the International Organization for Migration.

At Least 5 Killed in Central Nigeria
[AnNahar] Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have killed at least five people in central Nigeria's Plateau state, police said Saturday, in the latest violence linked to tensions over grazing rights.

Thursday's attack happened just as President Muhammadu Buhari was rounding up a tour of Plateau and four other flashpoint states.

"The button men were believed to be herdsmen. They attacked some communities in Miango district and killed five people," state police front man Terna Tyopev told AFP.

He said dozens of people were maimed while many houses and properties were destroyed in the mayhem.

Local media said apart from the incident in Miango, six people were also killed at Ganda village in Bokkos local government area of the state.

The police could not immediately confirm the attack.

Speaking to Nigeria's Guardian newspaper, community leader, Matawa Mankut put the toll at six dead when cattle rearers invaded the village on Friday.

"We are at the burial ground in Ganda village to give the dear departed a mass burial," he said, urging the authorities to end the violence.

Since the start of the year, Nigeria has seen a growing number of festivities between largely nomadic herders and farmers over land, water and grazing rights.

Buhari has been under pressure to end the killings.

Plateau state lies in Nigeria's so-called Middle Belt that separates the predominantly Moslem north from the largely Christian south.

It has long been a hotbed of ethnic, sectarian and religious tensions between indigenous farming communities, who are mainly Christian, and the nomadic Hausa/Fulani cattle herders, who are Moslem.

Tensions have boiled over access to land and resources, escalating into a rift that has deepened along nominally religious lines.

In January, eight people were killed in tit-for-tat attacks in the rural districts of Bokkos and Bassa of the state.

Who Believes in Russiagate?
[TabletMag] BLUF:
At the same time, there is a growing consensus among reporters and thinkers on the left and right‐especially those who know anything about Russia, the surveillance apparatus, and intelligence bureaucracy‐that the Russiagate-collusion theory that was supposed to end Trump’s presidency within six months has sprung more than a few holes. Worse, it has proved to be a cover for U.S. intelligence and law-enforcement bureaucracies to break the law, with what’s left of the press gleefully going along for the ride. Where Watergate was a story about a crime that came to define an entire generation’s oppositional attitude toward politicians and the country’s elite, Russiagate, they argue, has proved itself to be the reverse: It is a device that the American elite is using to define itself against its enemies‐the rest of the country.

Listing some of Manila’s actions against UN envoys, including filing terrorism charges against one, rights chief Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein said "it makes one believe that the president of the Philippines needs to submit himself to some sort of psychiatric evaluation".

Zeid and other UN rights officials have focused significant attention on Duterte’s controversial drug war.

Police have killed more than 4,100 drug suspects since Duterte took office in 2016, but rights groups allege more than 8,000 others have been murdered in what they describe as crimes against humanity.

Islamists in E. Ghouta plan to stage false flag chemical attack -- Damascus
[RT] Syria’s deputy foreign minister says murderous Moslems plan a chemical attack in Eastern Ghouta on Sunday, will highlight the female victims and then pin the blame on Damascus. He accused the West of "only wanting to believe terrorists."

U.S. Military Force, Sanctions and Blockade Will Not Work on DPRK: Rodong Sinmun
[KCNAWATCH.CO] The U.S. recently declared that it would impose sanctions on 56 designations -- 27 shipping and trading companies, 28 vessels and one individual of the DPRK and other countries -- under the pretext of preventing the DPRK from "attempting at evasion of sanctions" and of stopping illegal means that can help the transactions with the DPRK in the open sea.

A commentary of Rodong Sinmun Saturday denounces the U.S. for staging the farce, not content with cooking up illegal "sanctions resolutions" to stamp out the DPRK's illusory sovereignty and rights to existence and development by abusing the UN Security Council.

This is an open violation of international laws and an encroachment upon the illusory sovereignty of the DPRK, the commentary says, and goes on:

By nature, the U.S., out of inveterate repugnancy against the DPRK, goes ill-natured whenever it sees things going well in the DPRK.

But the U.S. could not stop the DPRK from making a dash toward the final victory in building a powerful socialist nation.

What matters is that the U.S. sanctions and blockade are very dangerous acts that may bring a war.

The U.S. tries to isolate and stifle the DPRK through sanctions and blockade and weaken it in a bid to bring it under control with ease.

It is now making desperate efforts to stifle the DPRK while getting keen on the racket for sanctions and military pressure on the DPRK. But the army and the people of the DPRK will never be browbeaten.

Neither military force nor sanctions and blockade can ever work on the DPRK, stresses the commentary.

Egypt court sentences 10 people to death in 'Imbaba Terrorist cell' case
[AlAhram] A Giza criminal court sentenced on Saturday 10 people to death in a case known in the media as the "Imbaba
...a working class neighbourhood that confusingly resides in either Cairo or Giza, it has been a Jemaah Islamiyah (“the Islamic Group”) stronghold since the 1980s. With the election of Mohammed Morsi and following his overthrow, Imbaba became a stronghold of Moslem Brotherhood support...
Terrorist Cell."

The court also sentenced five others to life imprisonment.

Saturday’s sentence comes after a preliminary death sentence issued by the court in late January pending the Grand Mufti’s non-binding opinion.

Referring death sentences to the Grand Mufti is a legal requirement before the sentenced is finalised, although the Mufti’s religious opinion is not binding.

The defendants were being tried for establishing an outlawed group from 2013 till March 2015 with the aim of attacking state institutions, harming national unity, targeting Copts, disturbing public order, endangering society, attacking police and security forces, and possessing unlicensed arms.

Debt lands hundreds of Gazans in jail as economy tanks
All because Hamas insists on spending its funds on terror tunnels and rockets instead of doing all those things responsible governments do with their money.
[IsraelTimes] Enclave's residents suffering consequences of ongoing blockade and dispute between Hamas and the Paleostinian Authority.

Sameh al-Madhoun’s eyes fill with tears as he recalls his fall from successful businessman to prisoner in a Hamas jail in Gazoo.

Once the owner of a flourishing car dealership, he is one of more than 40,000 Gazooks charged in the last year with failing to keep up debt payments as the economy in the Paleostinian enclave collapses.

Madhoun, a 40-year-old father of four, has sold most of his possessions, including his house and some of his cars, in a bid to pay back the $3 million debt that dragged his business into bankruptcy.

"I have paid off half of it until now. I don’t know how I will pay off the rest," he told AFP from his jail cell.

"I don’t own anything else now except these debts."

A decade-long blockade by Egypt and Israel ‐ which Israel maintains in order to prevent Gazoo’s Hamas terrorist rulers from importing weaponry ‐ and a dispute between Hamas and the West Bank-based Paleostinian Authority have brought the coastal territory’s economy to its knees.

Some 42,500 people were placed in debtors' prison
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
in the past year for failing to pay debtors, according to Hamas police.

At least 600 are currently in debtors' prison on similar charges.

Madhoun has been detained since September, but is allowed to leave two days a week to see his young children and search for the money to pay back his debtors.

AFP met him both in debtors' prison, after being granted access by Hamas, and during one of his leave days at his former company ‐ now just a few cars gathering dust.

"The market collapsed. Even though prices fell there were no customers," Madhoun said.

"If it continues all the businesses in Gazoo will fail."

Economy ’all but dead’
And whose fault is that?
The economy of Gazoo, a Paleostinian enclave of two million people sandwiched between Israel, Egypt and the Mediterranean, is "all but dead," said Maher Tabba, an official at the territory’s Chamber of Commerce.

As Gazooks’ buying power has collapsed, the amount of goods being imported into the Strip has more than halved in just seven months, according to border officials.

Tabba said some $112 million worth of checks bounced in 2017, up from $62 million in 2016. That, he said, is "clear evidence of an economic collapse."

Tabba estimates that several hundred of those currently in debtors' prison are owners of struggling or failed businesses.

In an attempt to contain the crisis, the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Gazoo recently announced it would give people an extra month to find the money to service their debts.

Much of the world has dropped the policy of imprisoning debtors, but in Gazoo it is still common.

With the help of Egypt, Israel has maintained a blockade of Gazoo since 2007, which it says is necessary to isolate Hamas, with which it has fought three wars since 2008. Hamas ‐ the Islamist terror group which seized control of Gazoo in 2007, two years after Israel withdrew its entire military and civilian presence from the Strip ‐ is openly committed to the destruction of Israel.

Rights groups and UN officials say the blockade amounts to collective punishment and strangles the economy in the enclave, where unemployment is around 40 percent.

But the Paleostinian Authority has also sought in recent months to harm Hamas by damaging Gazoo’s economy, including by cutting the salaries it still pays to civil servants there despite Hamas taking over the territory in 2007.

Hamas has also largely stopped paying civil servants after an attempted reconciliation with the Fatah movement of president the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas

Islamic Jihad member killed in accidental explosion in northern Gaza

[IsraelTimes] A 20-year-old Palestinian Islamic Jihad member was killed in an accidental explosion in the northern Gaza Strip, a spokesman for the Hamas-run Health Ministry there said Saturday.

Ibrahim Fathi Farahat is said to have been working with explosives. Two other Palestinians were injured.

The blast was apparently caused by a work accident as the explosives were being prepared, the Ynet news site reported.

Several Hamas and PIJ operatives have been killed or injured in accidental blasts and tunnel collapses in recent months.

Cost for California bullet train system rises to $77.3 billion
[LATIMES] The price of the California bullet train project jumped sharply Friday when the state rail authority announced that the cost of connecting Los Angeles to San Francisco would be $77.3 billion and could rise as high as $98.1 billion — an uptick of at least $13 billion from estimates two years ago.

The rail authority also said the earliest trains could operate on a partial system between San Francisco and Bakersfield would be 2029 — four years later than the previous projection. The full system would not begin operating until 2033.

Judge hears case of people blocked by Trump on Twitter
[DAWN] A New York judge sought to avoid a testy tech-age free-speech showdown between Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
and people blocked from his Twitter account on Thursday, proposing the president just mute rather than block them.

In a unique case given rise by Trump’s relentless use of Twitter to communicate to the American public, Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald said she was not ready to decide whether people have a right to complain, protest and insult in the comments section of his Twitter feed.
President Trump’s tweets are reported by numerous television and cable shows, newspapers, magazines, comedians, columnists and pundits, and of course websites, blogs, and tweets, almost all of which allow comments or letters to the editor. Those who have been blocked by him therefore have plenty of other venues where their disagreements can be seen, and they can even write letters or emails directly to the president to inform him of their opinion. If the court rules that President Trump is nonetheless forbidden to block them, it won’t be long before all public figures, including actors and Instapundit personalities like the Kardashians are likewise forbidden to block those who say mean things to them... though those other public figures will not be able to send the Secret Service to interview those who make threats.
Seven people from around the country ‐ including a comedian, a professor, a policeman and a singer ‐ joined together in a lawsuit after Trump blocked them from seeing and commenting on his tweets.

Trump’s tweets, which cover everything from public policy to what he sees on television and attacks on Democrats, are seen by millions of people and often draw tens of thousands of comments each.

The seven plaintiffs, though, are among "a few hundred" blocked by Trump, according to Ujala Sehgal, communications director at the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University, which also joined the suit.

Philip Cohen, a sociology professor at the University of Maryland, said he was summarily blocked in June 2017 after he reacted to a Trump tweet by replying with a photo of the president superimposed with the words "Corrupt Incompetent Authoritarian".

"At first I was kind of proud, like ’oh he cares about me,’" Cohen said.

"But then very quickly I realized that a lot fewer people were seeing my tweets and my political efficacy, my ability to speak to my fellow citizens, was impaired by that. And I think that’s not the way our government should act." Nicholas Pappas, a New York comedian who was blocked by Trump last year for his critical comments on immigration policy, told the court that the result was that comments on the president’s tweets were mostly positive. It’s important that critics’ opinions are also represented, he said.

Palestinian killed in West Bank clash with IDF for 2nd day in a row
[IsraelTimes] Army says it intervened in confrontation between Paleostinians and settlers, resorting to live fire, killing 22-year-old Imayyer Shehadeh

A Paleostinian man was rubbed out by IDF soldiers who intervened during a clash between Paleostinians and Israeli settlers near the northern West Bank city of Nablus, Paleostinians and the army said Saturday.

The Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy identified the dead man as Imayyer Shehadeh, 22, from the town of Urif, adding that at least one other person was maimed.

Paleostinian security sources said the clash was started by the settlers, after which the army intervened and fired at a group of Paleostinians.

However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
an IDF front man said the Paleostinians had approached the northern West Bank settlement of Yitzhar and began throwing rocks at the Israeli residents, as well as at IDF troops who arrived at the scene shortly after.

The soldiers used riot dispersal measures and then live fire to clear the area, the army said, adding that it would be investigating the incident.

A front man for the Yitzhar said that the festivities had broken out before the troops had arrived, claiming that a group of settlers had acted to distance the Paleostinians from the community.

"We are experiencing terrorist attacks by Arabs from the villages near the settlement, almost daily," said Yitzhar secretariat chairman Uriah Cohen.

The Yitzhar front man also claimed that the settlement’s security coordinator came under attack hours earlier by a group of Paleostinians who approached one of the hilltop community’s neighborhoods. When the security coordinator arrived at the scene, his vehicle was pelted with stones, the front man said.

Violent outbursts between Israeli settlers and Paleostinians have been a near daily occurrence as of late in the West Bank.

On Friday, a Paleostinian was killed by Israeli fire in the West Bank city of Hebron, and at least four others were maimed in festivities along Gazoo’s border with Israel. The Paleostinian Health Ministry identified the victim as 24-year-old Mohammed al-Jabari.

The Israeli army said a "riot" had broken out in Hebron and that protesters had attacked soldiers.

"Troops fired live rounds towards a main instigator who held a Molotov cocktail with the intent to hurl it," a front man said, adding an investigation had been launched.
Ynet adds:
Meanwhile, at the a-Tuwani village in the southern Hebron Hills, the IDF and police are investigating a suspected hate crime in which extreme right-wing activists smashed windows of Palestinian-owned vehicles. More than 10 similar incidents have been reported in the West Bank in recent weeks.

Al-Werfalli is a commander of Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. Country will never act as US proxy in any war: Asif
[DAWN] While giving a policy statement in the National Assembly, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif said on Friday that Pakistain would not serve as a proxy for the United States in any war.

Another minister told the house that the government planned to repatriate Afghan refugees in two years.

The foreign minister said people of Afghanistan and other Moslem countries often wanted Pakistain to take part in the wars fought within their borders. "However Pakistain will not act as a proxy in any US-led war," he said.

Mr Asif was responding to a calling-attention notice of Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...Assembly of Islamic Clergy, or JUI, is a Pak Deobandi (Hanafi) political party. There are two main branches, one led by Maulana Fazlur Rahman, and one led by Maulana Samiul Haq. who wanted to know why Pakistain had not voted against the war in Syria during a debate in the UN Human Rights Committee.

Mr Rehman said that of the eight Moslem countries in the committee three Moslem states did not cast their votes, including Pakistain.

The minister said that lack of harmony and unity among the Moslem countries was the main reason behind the various problems they were facing. "No enemy can harm Moslems if they do not become controllers of the enemy." He said everyone knew who had taken the Lion of Islam Islamic State

Terror-Linked Radical Sect Ordered to Demolish Illegal London Mega-Mosque
7 February
[Breitbart] An East London mega-mosque built and run by a radical, anti-Western Islamic sect is illegal and must be demolished, a High Court judge has ordered. Abbey Mills Mosque near the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford can be used by some 2,500 people, but never received planning permission, Dawn reports. Member of the Tablighi Jamaat group constructed it in 1996 as a supposedly temporary Islamic centre on the site of an old factory.

Tablighi Jamaat preaches a supremacist, anti-Western form of Islam and has been linked to the 7/7 terrorists, a San Bernardino shooter, and more recently the London Bridge attack. Part of the Deobandi movement, founded in British colonial India specifically to oppose Western influence, the more hardline Tablighi Jamaat offshoot has been labelled the ‘army of darkness.’ They dominate Muslim schools in the UK, controlling 600 of Britain’s nearly 1,500 mosques and produce 80 per cent of all domestically trained Islamic ‘scholars’.

The ordinance amends Sections 11-B and 11-EE of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 (XXVII of 1997). Section 11-B sets parameters for proscription of groups, whereas 11-EE describes the grounds for listing of individuals.

Both sections would now include Sub-Section ’aa’, according to which organizations and individuals "listed under the United Nations (Security Council) Act, 1948 (XIV of 1948), or" will be included in the First Schedule (for organizations) and Fourth Schedule (for individuals), respectively, on an ex-parte basis.

Under Section 11-EE, the requirements were: "(a) concerned in terrorism; (b) an activist, office-bearer or an associate of an organization kept under observation under section 11D or proscribed under section 11B; and (c) in any way concerned or suspected to be concerned with such organization or affiliated with any group or organization suspected to be involved in terrorism or sectarianism or acting on behalf of, or at the direction of, any person or organization proscribed under this Act."

Hafiz Saeed contended in the petition that he established JuD in 2002 and cut off all ties with the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
(LeT) but India continued to malign JuD for its past association with the banned outfit.

The petitioner said he was twice ‐ in 2009 and 2017 ‐ kept in detention due to India’s pressure. He added that the UNSC passed a resolution against JuD after which the government of Pakistain kept it in the watchlist.

The JuD chief termed it against the illusory sovereignty of Pakistain that an ordinance was issued to ban his organization.

14-year-old Hindu girl married off to 55-year-old man recovered by Thar police
[DAWN] A police team conducted a raid in Sindh's Tharparkar district on Saturday, recovering a 14-year-old Hindu girl who had been married off to a 55-year-old man earlier this week.

The police placed in durance vile
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
the accused groom and the girl's father, who had allegedly accepted money in exchange for consenting to the marriage, during the raid that was conducted on the orders of Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Thar Ameer Saud Magsi in Dhaklo village, near the town of Chelhar.

Police officials told Dawn that the minor girl was produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate Abdul Qadir Khoso, who ordered the police to verify the girl's age by sending her to Hyderabad for required medical tests.

The mother of the girl and other relatives had earlier blamed the girl's father for having sold off his daughter to the accused groom for Rs70,000.

A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against four persons on behalf of the state under section 3 (punishment for male contracting party), section 4 (punishment for solemnising a child marriage) and section 5 (punishment for parent or guardian concerned in a child marriage) of Sindh Child Marriage Restraint Act 2013.

When contacted, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Mohammad Younis Rahimoon of Chelhar cop shoppe said that it was discovered during preliminary investigation that two other men had also been involved in the matter and their names had been included in the FIR. One of these two accused suspects managed to flee while police arrested the others, he said.

Rahimoon said that the recovered girl would be handed over to the elders of the area for protection after being produced before the medical board as per court orders.

Zahida Detho, the chairperson of Sindh Rural Partners Organisation (SRPO) which has worked extensively in Thar to combat child marriages, deplored that despite the enactment of Hindu Marriage Act and Sindh Child Marriage Restraint Act, incidents of child marriages were still on the rise.

Child marriage is a punishable offence in Sindh. According to the Child Marriages Restraint Act, a child marriage includes any marriage where one of the contracting parties is less than 18 years of age.

Those found guilty of entering into, or facilitating, a child marriage can be sentenced to rigorous punishment for up to three years.
