Top-Ranking Dems Says 'Mueller Report Doesn't Matter ‐ We Know There Was Collusion'
[Daily Caller] House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler confirmed Sunday that Congress will continue to investigate President Donald Trump regardless of the conclusions reached by special counsel Robert Mueller.

"We know there was collusion," Nadler insisted several times during an appearance on CNN’s "State of the Union" with guest host Dana Bash. "Why there’s been no indictments, we don’t know."

Nadler listed the Trump Tower meeting ‐ which has been the subject of numerous false reports ‐ and the way Trump "pressured the FBI to go easy, to stop investigating Flynn," and Trump firing Comey as evidence of the alleged "collusion."

Bash pointed out several times that none of that rose to the level of indictment from the Mueller team, but Nadler quickly shrugged it off.

"Well, there have been obstructions of justice, whether they are ‐ clearly, whether they are criminal obstruction is another question," Nadler explained. "But we have ‐ the special prosecutor is limited in scope. His job was limited in scope and limited to crimes. What Congress has to do is look at a broader picture. We are in charge ‐ we have the responsibility of protecting the rule of law, of looking at obstructions of justice, abuses of power, at corruption, in order to protect the rule of law so that our democratic institutions are not greatly damaged by this president."

Economy
‘The Two-Income Trap' by Elizabeth Warren and Amelia Warren Tyagi
BLUF:
[Free Beacon] "By the usual logic," they write, "sending a second parent into the workforce should make a family more financially secure, not less. But this reasoning ignores an important fact of two-income life. When mothers joined the workforce, the family gave up something of considerable (although unrecognized) economic value: an extra skilled and dedicated adult, available to pitch in to help save the family during times of emergency."

This is the two-income trap: A second earner in middle-class households has, paradoxically, rendered them more financially unstable. This simple idea is easy enough to follow, but ominous in its implications. Is Warren arguing (as Tucker Carlson recently contended) that mothers going to work was a disaster for the country?

The mass transition of mothers into the workforce is a relatively recent phenomenon. In 1860 just 7 percent of women with children at home were in the labor force. By 1940, 13 percent were, still just one in eight. But, after women went to work en masse during World War II, their labor force participation rate took off. By 1960 it was 30 percent. In 1978 it hit 50 percent. And in 2000 it peaked at 68 percent, before descending slightly to 65 percent today.

#6  It isn't a trap if you don't spend the extra money. But it usually doesn't turn out that way.

#8  It isn't a trap if you don't spend the extra money. But it usually doesn't turn out that way.

When my mother went back to work, school, and teaching — purely for her sanity after deliberately having four children in four years — her entire salary and more went to pay for the increased expenses. Daddy didn’t care because she was much happier, and as a consequence so was he, but there was no pretense that she was adding to the net family income.

And this after she sewed most of her work wardrobe instead of spending money in the shops.

Subway Attacker Who Severely Beat Elderly Woman On Camera Was Wearing A Palestinian Keffiyeh
[Brightstart] A brutal attack on a New York City subway was captured on video. The short clip has been viewed millions of times on social media and clearly depicts a black man severely beating an elderly black woman.

Of course, because New York City is under the control of Democrat Socialists, and the culture there grows coarser by the hour, nobody did a damn thing to stop the attack.

It’s awful.

One thing that seems to have gone largely un-noticed by anyone in mainstream media is that the suspect was clearly wearing a Palestinian Keffiyeh, the radical symbol of muslim supremacy over the Jews of Israel (Sold on Amazon, of course!).

Now, imagine the attacker was wearing a MAGA hat, and tell us it’s not relevant. Should Palestinians now be subjected to the same group backlash from Democrats that Trump supporters face over fake attacks that never even happened?

Of course not. Nobody should be subjected to Democrat tactics.

Something tells us they’ll catch this guy quickly by visiting the local chapter of the Nation of Islam. Just a hunch that the local members know exactly who this is.

Update: MAIL - Suspect is arrested after attacking a woman who told him to stop 'manspreading' on the New York subway

#5  Y'know what I hate about this case (other than the obvious stuff)? I hate that I knew, after just a few seconds of skimming enraged tweets, before I'd seen a pic or description of either victim or perpetrator, that both of them absotively, posilutely hadda be black (or at least blackish).

And I say that as the annoying a-hole who, when everybody's running the "they didn't say it, so he's gotta be black" tape, mutters, "probably not this time," and turns out to be right. Getting weary of it all. The crime was annoying enough... like, thirty years ago... but this whole nationwide (and then some) complex of ignorance and delusion that's grown up around it? Wouldn't have believed it possible.

Donald Trump is using Stalinist tactics to discredit climate science
[Guardian] Americans should not be fooled by the Stalinist tactics being used by the White House to try to discredit the findings of mainstream climate science.

The Trump administration has already purged information about climate change from government websites, gagged federal experts and attempted to end funding for climate change programmes.

Now a group of hardcore climate change deniers and contrarians linked to the administration is organising a petition in support of a new panel being set up by the National Security Council to promote an alternative official explanation for climate change.

The panel will consist of scientists who do not accept the overwhelming scientific evidence that rising levels of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere are behind climate change and its impacts.

The petition is being circulated for signature by Myron Ebell of the Competitive Enterprise Institute, a lobby group for "free market" fanatics which has become infamous for championing climate change denial. It does not disclose its sources of funding, but is known to have received money from ExxonMobil and conservative billionaires such as the Koch brothers.

Mr Ebell, who has no expertise whatsoever in climate science ‐ or any kind of science for that matter ‐ was a member of Donald Trump’s presidential transition team and diverted the focus of the Environmental Protection Agency towards weakening and removing policies that limit pollution by companies, including President Obama’s Clean Power Plan.

#3  That's why all the Deep Staters caught 'adjusting' old data to meet the narrative is plain Lysenkoism. It's the Left, trying to substitute itself for god by using fraudulent science as its power. Seems they're exposing the playbook rather openly. It's Left's play of "You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the lord your god, am a jealous god, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate me"
Posted by: Procopius2k || 03/24/2019 7:40 Comments || Top||

#4  ...the overwhelming scientific evidence that rising levels of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere are behind climate

First off - there is no 'overwhelming scientific evidence' other than a small but extremely vocal climate science people like Michael Mann, James Hansen and others who are making these claims, aided and abetted by a more than willing and compliant media acting as their amplifier, and who have also refused to share data on more than one occasion so that their 'findings' can be replicated.

Second - it wasn't that long ago that the second part of the above quoted sentence fragment (carbon dioxide, etc.) was used to describe... global warming? Is carbon dioxide so powerful that it can singlehandedly cause both 'global warming' as well as 'climate change' in the span of a mere decade?

There are only so many times a rational person can listen to such contradictions before coming to the conclusion that they're all full of shit.

Alyssa Milano wants to destroy Georgia's film industry to preserve sacrament of abortion
[Twitchy] A lot of Hollywood productions have moved to Georgia for the tax breaks (we thought liberals loved paying their fair share), but Hollywood’s conscience hasn’t fully taken root in Georgia, where some people still consider a fetus with a beating heart a baby.

On Friday, Georgia’s Senate passed a "heartbeat bill" that would roll back the period in which a woman could seek an abortion to six weeks, when a heartbeat is detectable. The bill makes exceptions for rape and incest, allowing abortion up to 20 weeks. And that has actress Alyssa Milano calling for Hollywood to pull its business out of the state.

Flashback: John Brennan Predicted Additional Mueller Indictments Just Two Weeks ago
[Daily Caller] Former Central Intelligence Agency Director John Brennan predicted just two short weeks ago that President Trump’s family members or associates would be indicted in the special counsel’s probe.

During an appearance on MSNBC on March 5, Brennan predicted that Mueller would issue indictments related to a "criminal conspiracy" involving Trump or his associates’ activities during the 2016 election. The forecast proved far off the mark on Friday after Robert Mueller ended his investigation without issuing new indictments.

"If anybody from the Trump family ... is going to be indicted, it would be in the final act of Mueller’s investigation because Bob Mueller and I think his team knows that if he were to do something, indicting a Trump family member, or if he were to go forward with an indictment on a criminal conspiracy involving U.S. persons that would basically be the death knell of the special counsel’s office," Brennan told anchor Lawrence O’Donnell. (RELATED: Ex-CIA Director John Brennan Accuses Trump Of Treason Following Putin Summit)

"I don’t believe that Donald Trump would allow Bob Mueller to continue in the aftermath of those actions," he added.

Pelosi Holds Emergency Call With Democratic Caucus Over Mueller Report. Here's What Transpired
[Townhall] Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Saturday held an emergency phone call with Democratic members of Congress.

She sent her colleagues the following letter, letting them know about the call and what the dicussion would entail (emphasis mine):
Dear Democratic Colleague,

Today, we are having an emergency Caucus conference call at 3:00 p.m. E.T. to discuss the transmittal of the Mueller report to the Department of Justice (DOJ). While we do not know the substance of the report, we will have the relevant Committees of jurisdiction on the call today to update Members on where we go from here.

Leader Schumer and I yesterday issued a joint statement reiterating Democrats’ call for transparency, stating that, "Now that Special Counsel Mueller has submitted his report to the Attorney General, it is imperative for Mr. Barr to make the full report public and provide its underlying documentation and findings to Congress." Our six distinguished Committee chairs of jurisdiction also stated their call for transparency in a joint statement available here.

This transparency is even more urgent because of Attorney General Barr’s letter to the House and Senate Judiciary Committees yesterday in which he writes, "I am reviewing the report and anticipate that I may be in a position to advise [the Judiciary Committee Chairs and Ranking Members] of the Special Counsel’s principal conclusions as soon as this weekend." We are insisting that any briefings to any Committees be unclassified so that Members can speak freely about every aspect of the report and not be confined to what DOJ chooses to release publicly.

Even if DOJ chooses not to prosecute additional individuals, the underlying findings must be provided to Congress and the American people. The Attorney General’s offer to provide the Committees with a summary of the report’s conclusions is insufficient. Congress requires the full report and the underlying documents so that the Committees can proceed with their independent work, including oversight and legislating to address any issues the Mueller report may raise.

The American people deserve the truth. I have great confidence in our Committee Chairs and Members to honor our Congressional responsibility For the People.

Thank you for your leadership.

According to POLITICO, Pelosi told those on the call she believed Barr would be rather tight-lipped about what was in the report:

Yes, let's do have transparency. Let's take a look at it all--something that was never done during the Obama admin. Let's start with the previous 8-year admin.

More than 130 killed in Mali massacre as UN visits
[Jakarta Post] More than 130 people were killed in an attack on a Fulani village in central Mali on Saturday, the United Nations said, as a delegation visited the country.
"Intel says over 130 killed"
"That's a tragedy. Where can we get a decent lunch and martini?"

Survivors accused traditional Dogon hunters of carrying out the deadly raid in Ogossagou, according to Boubacar Kane, the governor of Bankass district which covers the village. A security source told AFP the victims were shot or hacked to death with machetes.

"The Secretary-General is shocked and outraged by reports that at least 134 civilians, including women and children, have been killed," Antonio Guterres's spokesman said in a statement, adding he called on Malian authorities "to swiftly investigate it and bring the perpetrators to justice".

The attack was launched at dawn on Saturday in the village near the border with Burkina Faso, said several sources. The district has been the scene of frequent inter-communal violence.

Two witnesses questioned separately by AFP said hunters had burned down nearly all the huts in the village.

Guterres's spokesman said the UN mission in Mali, MINUSMA, provided air support to deter further attacks and assisted with the evacuation of the injured.

The massacre took place as a delegation from the United Nations Security Council visited the Sahel region to assess the jihadist threat there.

Earlier the UN said the visiting ambassadors from the Security Council countries met on Saturday with Mali's Prime Minister Soumeylou Boubeye Maiga and discussed with him the volatile situation in the centre of the country.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
More than 27,000 pounds of cocaine seized off US coast
[Washington Examiner] Another massive round of cocaine shipments was seized off the Florida coast, with the Coast Guard saying that shipment was worth well over $350 million.

Coast Guard officials offloaded more than 27,000 pounds of cocaine Friday on their base in Miami Beach after the bust. The cocaine shipments, which were headed to the U.S. from Mexico, Central America, and South America, were seized from 12 different vessels by six separate Coast Guard units throughout the Caribbean in an operation that started in January.

"They all teamed together to catch this in bulk form," U.S. Coast Guard Vice Adm. Daniel Abel told WSVN Miami on Friday.

"For each metric ton, it’s estimated that that metric ton could kill 11 Americans," Abel added. "That metric ton could send a thousand to an emergency room with an overdose. That metric ton could start 11,000 American citizens on an addiction."

Coast Guard officials are pleased with the result of the cutters, saying that every kilogram of the drug seized in the sea means less grams of cocaine on the streets.

"It’s definitely an experience when that alarm goes off at 3 in the morning and you’re gone for the next 12 to 14 hours, during that boarding and seizing the contraband, bringing the members back on board," Boarding Officer Michael Black said.

Extremists attack Somalia government office, minister among 5 dead
MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) ‐ Gunmen set off a suicide car bombing and then stormed a government building in Somalia's capital Saturday, killing at least five people including the country's deputy labor minister, police said. It was the latest attack by Islamic extremists in the troubled Horn of Africa nation.

After an hourslong gunbattle, Somalia's security forces took back control of the building in Mogadishu on Saturday afternoon from at least five attackers who forced their way into the government building that houses the ministries of labor and public works, police Capt. Mohamed Hussein told the Associated Press.

Saqar Ibrahim Abdalla, Somalia's deputy minister of labor and social affairs, was killed in his ground-floor office shortly after gunmen entered the building, he said.

As the attack unfolded, gunfire could be heard from inside the building. White smoke billowed from the scene, according to witnesses.

A similar attack targeting a busy area in Mogadishu at the end of February killed at least 24 people.

Al Shabab, Africa's most active Islamic extremist group, has been fighting for years to take power and create an Islamic state in Somalia. It frequently carries out suicide bombings targeting public places, hotels and government offices despite being pushed out of Mogadishu. It mostly operates from rural areas in the country's south.

Israel bombs Hamas as Gazans step up nighttime rioting along border
[IsraelTimes] Strike comes after explosive hurled at border sets off rocket siren, as ’confusion unit’ threatens to expand night protests.

Israeli military aircraft bombed Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, targets in the Gazoo strip early Sunday as Paleostinians rioted along the border in renewed nighttime demonstrations.

The strikes came less than an hour after a rocket alarm sounded in some Israeli communities bordering the strip, triggered by an improvised bomb thrown at the border.

The Israel Defense Forces said aircraft struck two Hamas reconnaissance posts in response to "the multitude of [explosive] devices that were thrown and went kaboom! during the night."

There were no immediate reports of injuries from the strikes. Four Paleostinians were reported injured, including one seriously, by Israeli live fire during the border riots earlier in the night.

Nighttime riots in Gazoo have been led by so-called "confusion units" organized by the Hamas terror group, the Strip’s de facto ruler. On Saturday, the unit said it would step up activities, with a week of nightly riots from 7 p.m. until dawn along the border and more airborne incendiary devices launched into Israel. It said the move was in response to the deaths of two Paleostinians shot by troops during border riots Friday.

During the nightly demonstrations, participants generally set off loud explosives or sounds grenades, burn tires and throw rocks at Israeli troops on the other side of the security fence. Israeli soldiers typically respond with tear gas and, in some cases, live fire.

On Saturday, Israeli military aircraft launched a pair of strikes at Paleostinian cells flying incendiary balloons from the southern Gazoo Strip into Israel, the army said.

There are fears that violence will ramp up later this month when Hamas is hoping to draw hundreds of thousands of rioters to the fence Friday to mark a year of so-called March of Return protests.

Israel says the demonstrations are orchestrated by Hamas, which vocally supports them, sending free buses to the border and providing food and internet to participants ‐ as well as money for those injured in them ‐ in order to provide a cover for the organization’s nefarious activities along the security fence, including infiltration attempts, the planting of explosives and attacks on Israeli soldiers.

Their organizers have said the protests aim to achieve the "return" of Paleostinian refugees and their descendants to lands that are now part of Israel, and pressure the Jewish state to lift its restrictions on the movement of people and goods into and out of the coastal enclave.

Israeli officials hold that the return of Paleostinian refugees and their descendants would destroy Israel’s Jewish character. They also maintain that the restrictions on movement are in place to prevent Hamas and other terrorist groups from smuggling weapons into the Strip.

The sides are said to be engaged in Egyptian mediated ceasefire talks.
The Jerusalem Post adds:
An explosive charge thrown during the night riots along the Gazoo border triggered rocket sirens in the Eshkol region, according to an IDF spokesperson. The explosive charge did not get over the border fence.

According to local Paleostinian media reports, hundreds of Gazooks took part in the riots in five main locations along the border, setting fire to tires, throwing firecrackers and pointing lasers towards IDF troops deployed along the fence. Some 600 protesters returned to the border area Saturday night.

Paleostinian rioters belonging to the "night confusion unit" threw fireworks and explosives at IDF soldiers on the Gazoo border, and launched several barrages of incendiary balloons at southern Israel.

Earlier on Saturday, three Palestinians were injured during the night-time riots along the Gaza border fence with Israel, after the IAF struck two Palestinian cells launching explosive aerial devices from the Strip into Israel over the weekend.

Notice taken of alleged forced conversion, underage marriages of 2 minor girls in Ghotki: Fawad
[DAWN] Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday said the government has taken notice of reports of the alleged forced conversion and underage marriages of two teenage girls in Ghotki.

"The two girls wanted to convert to Islam since long influenced by its teachings, but first act after conversion was underage marriage," he said.
The father and brother of the girls ─ who belong to a Hindu family ─ in videos circulating on social media say that the two sisters were kidnapped and forced into changing their religion from Hinduism to Islam. However,
the hip bone's connected to the leg bone...
a separate video of the minor girls is also making rounds, in which they say that they accepted Islam of their own free will.

Lawyer and activist Jibran Nasir was among those who raised the issue on Twitter, sharing a video which he said was of the two sisters, one aged 14 and the other 16.

In the video, a holy man can be seen next to the girls and two men who they were married to. The holy man says the girls were inspired by Islam and alleges that their family is spreading "false propaganda" and is threatening their lives.

Nasir said the sisters were converted at the Dargah Barchundi Sharif. "As per Dargah, girls wanted to convert to Islam since long influenced by its teachings, but first act after conversion was underage marriage," he said. The girls were reportedly taken to Rahim Yar Khan following their marriages.

Backed by heavy artillery, the Syrian Democratic Forces attacked the Islamic State’s last positions at the eastern slope of Jabal Baghouz.

No advances were reported by the Syrian Democratic Forces on Friday; however, they did confirm that their troops are still targeting the terrorist group.

According to reports from the Deir Ezzor Governorate, dozens of Islamic State fighters are still holding this small area in Jabal Baghouz, but they are severely lacking provisions and manpower to continue for much longer.

Earlier this week, the Islamic State conceded the Baghouz Camp to the Syrian Democratic Forces after several months of intense fighting.

Following the Islamic State’s loss of the Baghouz Camp, Trump announced that the Islamic State’s ’caliphate’ had been eliminated from Syria.

Afghanistan
Year-end Review: Official Reveals Details Of Afghan Forces Casualties In Farah
[ToloNews] Almost 1,000 members of the Afghan Police bit the dust in battles against the Talibs in Farah province during the last solar year which coincides with March 2018 to March 2019, Farah police front man Rahmatullah Siddiqi said on Saturday.

The highest casualty rate was in areas on the outskirts of Farah city, Siddiqi said, adding that at least 10 outposts of Afghan forces in Farah districts and on the outskirts of Farah city had fallen to the bandidos faceless myrmidons during the last year.

"In the first quarter of the last year, 478 coppers were martyred, 281 were killed in the second quarter, and 231 were martyred in the third quarter of the year," said Siddiqi.

Almost 45,000 members of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the fight against terrorism in the country in the past four years, according to President Ghani who made it public in an interview in the US late last year.

Siddiqi said that fresh military operations have started in the province and that the security situation is better than the last year.

"You cannot fine a secure province than Farah province," said Siddiqi.

He said that only one police force member was killed in a battle against bandidos faceless myrmidons in the last month of the last solar year.

"Farah’s situation is improving," said Noorullah Qaderi, Commander of Afghan Army’s 207 Zafar Corps. "President (Ashraf) Ghani visited Farah city some days ago and this shows that Farah is safe."

Farah governor Mohammad Shoaib Sabit said mafia groups, which were supporting the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
to benefit from customs revenues in the province, have been suppressed.

"We continue our efforts to ensure that people are living in peace," said the governor.

Heavy battles were reported in Farah province during the last solar year in which Talibs reached close to the Farah city, the center of the province.

Iraq
Iraqi PM seeks sacking of governor after Mosul boat capsize
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi has formally requested that parliament sack Nineveh Governor Nawfal Hammadi al-Sultan after a river ferry accident killed at least 90 people in the placid provincial capital, djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
The capsize of the boat, which was carrying families to a recreational spot on an island in the Tigris River on Thursday, was the most deadly incident in the northern city since it was recaptured from ISIS in a bloody and destructive conflict in 2017.

Since the turbans were driven from Mosul nearly two years ago, relief has given way to impatience over alleged corruption as reconstruction of the destroyed city has stalled.

"Due to the obvious negligence and dereliction in performing duties and responsibility, and the presence of evidence proving misuse of public funds and abuse of power.. we suggest that you dismiss the governor and his deputies," Abdul Mahdi wrote in a letter addressed to the speaker of parliament that was published by his office late on Friday.

Iraqi law gives the federal parliament the right to sack provincial governors based on the suggestion of the prime minister.

Scores of angry protesters swarmed Iraq’s president and the governor on Friday, forcing them to leave the site of the accident. The crowd threw stones and shoes at Sultan's car, which sped off hitting two people, one of whom was taken to hospital.

Protesters blamed negligence by the local government for the accident. The boat was loaded to five times its capacity, according to a local official.

Abdul Mahdi had said on Thursday those responsible would be held accountable. Five ferry workers were enjugged
Into the paddy wagon wit' yez!

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
BBC attributes the fall of IS stronghold in Syria to ''U.S.-backed troops''
By Herb McCoy

Why is the US given credit in the headline? Why are they even mentioned at all? This was a joint military alliance of which the US was just one part of the fight against IS, yet the article mentions the US in the headline and again in the opening sentence before the SDF is mentioned at all, and the YPG isn't mentioned once, despite making up the bulk of SDF troops.
My guess would be arms, money, and air support.
The article mentions the US multiple times, talks about the position of White House officials and Donald Trump. It doesn't even mention Rojava, the YPG or the fact that while the US is happy to fight alongside the YPG, the US government fails to recognise the legitimacy of Rojava.
I think we should be backing the Kurds to the hilt as well, but practical politix sez it ain't gonna happen. There are too many both Arab and Turkmen (and Russian) players to be placated. Look what happened when the Kurds in Iraq declared their autonomy. It wasn't a pretty sight, and Kurds sold out Kurds. A back door approach, however distasteful, makes more sense to everyone but the YPG.

Pittsburgh braces for rallies after cop acquitted in teen killing
[Al Jazeera] The US city of Pittsburgh is bracing for protests, a day after a jury's decision to acquit a white police officer who fatally shot an unarmed black teenager last year.

Former East Pittsburgh Police Officer Michael Rosfeld was charged with homicide for shooting Antwon Rose II in the back as the 17-year-old bravely ran away from a high-stakes traffic stop last June.

But Rosfeld walked out of the courtroom a free man on Friday after jurors rejected the prosecution's argument that he acted as Rose's "judge, jury and executioner", in the words of an assistant district attorney.

The decision was met with sadness and anger by the family of the teen.

"I hope that man never sleeps at night," Rose's mother, Michelle Kenney, said of Rosfeld, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

"I hope he gets as much sleep as I do, which is none."

Battle over Mueller report to be pressed by Democrats
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Within minutes of receiving notification that special counsel Robert Mueller had turned over his report on the Russia investigation, congressional Democrats were calling for the report to be fully released, including the underlying evidence. They have threatened subpoenas if it is not.

The demands are setting up a potential tug of war between congressional Democrats and President Donald Trump

on Friday dodged the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration and was able to deliver a sermon at Lal Masjid
...literally the Red Mosque, located in Islamabad and frequented by all sorts of high govt officials. The proprietors, Ghazi Abdul Rasheed and Maulana Abdul Aziz Ghazi, unleashed their Islamic storm troopers on the city, shutting down whorehouses and beating people up who weren't devout enough. The Musharraf govt put an end to the nonsense by besieging the place. Abdul Aziz Ghazi was nabbed while he was trying to escape dressed up like a girl. BBC reported that the corpse count at 173, but other claims, usually hysterical, say there were up to 1000 titzup. Among their number was Abdul Rashid Ghazi. Everyone then said tut-tut and what a nice guy he had been...
Maulana Abdul Aziz lambasted all state institutions and said the judiciary was corrupt because it was the remnant of British colonialism as was democracy.

'Scores killed' after attack in central Mali village
[Al Jazeera] Armed men have killed more than 100 people in central Mali, according to local officials, in what is one of the deadliest attacks in a country plagued by worsening ethnic violence and the rise of gangs.

Moulaye Guindo, the mayor of the town of Bankass, said men dressed as traditional Donzo hunters encircled and attacked the nearby Fulani village of Ogossagou-Peul at around 4am (04:00 GMT) on Saturday.

"It's a very heavy corpse count," he told Rooters news agency. "The village of Ogossagou is completely devastated," the mayor said, adding that bodies were still being discovered.

"The body count continues by the gendarmes, who have just told me they have found 110 bodies, but the count continues," he said.

Guindo said another nearby Fulani village, Welingara, had also been attacked, causing "a number" of deaths.

Abdoul Aziz Diallo, president of Tabital Pulaaku, a group representing ethnic Fulani, told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named news agency that the corpse count in Ogossagou was 115.

The United Nations

peacekeeping mission in Mali confirmed reports of an attack but gave no figures, according to AP.

ETHNIC TENSIONS
Donzo hunters are part of the Bambara, Mali's largest ethnic group. The semi-nomadic Fulani people are dispersed throughout the Sahel and West Africa.

Saturday's attack is believed to be the latest in a series of festivities between the communities of Donzo and Fulani - also known as Peul - that have left dozens dead in recent months.

In January, Donzo hunters were blamed for the killing of 37 people in a Fulani village.

MSNBC's Chris Matthews livid over Mueller report: ‘How could they let Trump off the hook?'
[FOX] MSNBC host Chris Matthews expressed outrage on Friday upon hearing reports that Special Counsel Robert Mueller had completed his Russia investigation and submitted it to the attorney general -- with further indictments not expected.

Matthews began his show by summarizing the breaking news, but stressed that Mueller handed his report to the Department of Justice "without ever directly interviewing the president of the United States."

"That means no charges against the president, his children or his associates after all those meetings with the Russians," a visibly upset Matthews told his viewers.

The liberal cable news host opened the discussion to the panel, telling them his "biggest question" was "How can the president be pointed to as leading collusion with Russia, aiding a Russian conspiracy to interfere with our elections if none of his henchmen, none of his children, none of his associates have been indicted?"

NBC News national security reporter Ken Dilanian responded by telling Matthews that Trump couldn’t be indicted "in a criminal sense" since Mueller’s office "didn’t have it," adding that the president "couldn’t conspire with himself."

on Saturday over allegations of raping the minor daughter of a domestic helper, according to police.

Gizri Station House Officer Khan Mohammed Bhatti told Dawn that the 20-year-old driver, Mohammed Irfan, was shot at and maimed inside the Defence Housing Authority residence where he worked.

The officer said that an initial probe revealed that the maimed man had allegedly raped the teenage daughter of the family’s maid inside the home two days ago. The mother had complained to her employer, who then called the driver to question him. He stated his innocence and claimed that it was a false accusation against him.

"The owner of the house was not satisfied with his response, and in order to frighten him, resorted to firing a shot and the bullet hit the driver," said the officer, sharing the initial findings of the case.

The driver was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where he was found to be out of danger, according to Dr Seemin Jamali, executive director of the hospital. The bullet struck his right thigh.

Later on Saturday night, SHO Bhatti told Dawn that the police have registered a rape case against the injured driver on the complaint of the victim's mother. The officer said the girl is around 13-14 years old. The police will get a medical examination done from the hospital on Sunday, he added.

Bangladesh
UN draws up plans to ‘facilitate’ Rohingya relocation to remote island
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
is making plans to help Bangladesh relocate thousands of Rohingya refugees to a remote island off its coast, documents seen by Rooters show, a move opposed by many refugees and that some human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
experts fear could spark a new crisis.

Bangladesh says transporting refugees to Bhasan Char ‐ a Bay of Bengal island hours by boat from the mainland ‐ will ease chronic overcrowding in its camps at Cox’s Bazar, which are home to more than 1 million Rohingya, members of a Moslem minority who have fled neighboring Myanmar.

Humanitarian and human rights groups have criticized the relocation proposal, saying the island is flood-prone, vulnerable to frequent cyclones and could be completely submerged during high tide.

A document drawn up by the World Food Program (WFP), the UN’s food aid arm, shows the agency has supplied the Bangladesh government with detailed plans ‐ including a timeline and budget ‐ of how it could provide for thousands of Rohingya transported to the island within weeks. It stresses that any relocation should be voluntary and done "in accordance with humanitarian principles and code of conduct".

The document, labelled as a "Concept of Operations" and dated March 12, outlines how the organization and its partners "may facilitate the identification, staging, forward movement, reception, and sustainment of refugees" on Bhasan Char, estimating an initial appeal for donor funding of between $8.6 and $19 million.

More detailed operational planning would be needed it says, noting the Concept of Operations had been "developed quickly and without the benefit of any recent on-site assessment".

Gemma Snowdon, communications officer for WFP in Cox’s Bazar, said the organization was part of "ongoing discussions" with the government over the future of the refugee response.

"The viability of safely relocating people to Bhasan Char needs to be thoroughly assessed and WFP is investigating the potential operational needs, financial costs, and challenges in several areas that we traditionally support in emergencies: food security, emergency telecommunications, and logistics," she said.

REFUGEE INFLUX
The numbers of refugees in the Cox’s Bazar camps have grown dramatically since August 2017, when a Myanmar military-led crackdown that UN Sherlocks have said was conducted with "genocidal intent" prompted some 730,000 Rohingya to flee. Myanmar has denied almost all allegations of atrocities made by refugees during what it says was a legitimate counterterrorism operation by its security forces.

Bangladesh says it is struggling to cope with the influx and wants to start relocating thousands of refugees to the island, which it says has been secured with flood defense embankments and cyclone shelters.

A senior UN official told news hounds in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka on Thursday the organization welcomed the fact the government had "taken steps to identify alternative settlements".

"As you also know if you have been to Kutapalong and the various camps in Cox’s Bazar area, it is clear that there is huge congestion," said Volker Turk, Assistant High Commissioner for the UN refugee agency.

As the 'caliphate' ends, where is its leader Baghdadi?
[DAWN] The world's most wanted man who has so far eluded capture, the bad boy Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. (IS) group chief His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...the head of ISIS, or what remains of it, and a veteran of the Abu Graib jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us. So far he has been killed at least four times, though not yet by a stake through the heart...
has seen his "caliphate" crumble and its last shred of territory in Syria evaporate on Saturday.

After declaring himself caliph in 2014, Baghdadi held sway over seven million people across swathes of Syria and Iraq, where IS implemented its brutal version of Islamic law.

But that land has been whittled down to disjointed sleeper cells by years of fighting, including a ferocious bombing campaign by the United States-led coalition.

Reclusive even when IS was at the peak of its power, the 47-year-old Iraqi, who suffers from diabetes, has been rumoured to have been maimed or killed several times in the past. And his whereabouts have never been confirmed.

So, with his proto-state gone and a $25-million US bounty on his head, where is Baghdadi?

"He only has three companions: his older brother Jumaa, his driver and bodyguard Abdullatif al-Jubury, whom he has known since childhood, and his courier Saud al-Kurdi," said Hisham al-Hashemi, an Iraqi specialist in IS.

Hashemi said the quartet is likely laying low somewhere in Syria's vast Badia desert, which stretches from the eastern border with Iraq to the sweeping province of Homs.

That is where his son Hudhayfa al-Badri was reportedly killed in July by three Russian guided missiles, he added.
Rudaw adds:
But there has been no sign of al-Baghdadi.

"The Coalition is not holding him nor do we know where he is," US-led coalition front man Col. Sean Ryan told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named.

Mohammed Kheder, co-founder of the Sound and Picture group which documents IS, said the last time al-Baghdadi was spotted in the area was about 15 months ago, citing sources on the ground and the testimony of the people who left the area.

In Twitter posts, Kheder’s group has said it cannot rule out the possibility al-Baghdadi was detained long ago ‐ "especially since many of American airdrops and night operations targeting IS leaders along the Iraqi border have not been disclosed by the coalition."

Iraqi intelligence officials believe al-Baghdadi is hiding somewhere in the desert stretching across the Syrian-Iraqi border, using tunnels to move around.

"He does not use any communication equipment or internet to avoid detection by coalition planes," a senior intelligence official said. "When he wants to see someone from the organization, they are brought to him individually in cars that stop around two hours away from where al-Baghdadi is, and then they are brought to him individually on cycle of violences."

Another official, a colonel, said the Americans recently targeted some of al-Baghdadi’s closest people, including his personal bodyguard Khaled al-Saudi ‐ known as Khallad ‐ who was killed last week near the area of al-Baaj along the Iraqi-Syrian border.

Khallad’s wife was jugged
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
. Another close aide to al-Baghdadi was also recently killed and his wife captured, the colonel said, adding that the Americans believe such targets will soon lead them to al-Baghdadi. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity to share intelligence information.

Al-Baghdadi was born Ibrahim Awwad Ibrahim Ali al-Badri al-Samarrai in 1971 in Samarra, Iraq, and adopted his nom de guerre early on. According to IS-affiliated websites, he was detained by US forces in Iraq and sent to Bucca prison in February 2004 for his anti-US hard boy activity.

He was released 10 months later, after which he joined the al-Qaeda branch in Iraq of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. He later assumed control of the group, known at the time as the Islamic State of Iraq.

After Syria’s civil war erupted in 2011, al-Baghdadi dispatched comrades to the neighboring country to create a like-minded Sunni bad boy group there. The group, which came to be known as the Nusra Front, initially welcomed moderate Sunni rebels who were part of the uprising against Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Before going into the family business Pencilneck was an eye doctor. If he'd stuck with it he'd have had a good practice by now...
Over time, more of his fighters and possibly al-Baghdadi himself relocated to Syria, pursuing his plan to restore a medieval Islamic state, or caliphate. In April 2013, al-Baghdadi announced what amounted to a hostile takeover of the Nusra Front, saying he was merging it into a new group known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant
... the current version of al-Qaeda in Iraq, just as blood-thirsty and well-beloved as the original...
. Nusra Front’s leader Abu Mohammad al-Golani refused to accept the takeover ‐ as did al-Qaeda’s central leadership, which broke with al-Baghdadi.

Al-Baghdadi’s fighters went onto to capture a contiguous stretch of territory across Iraq and Syria, including key cities such as Raqqa in Syria and djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
in Iraq. In June 2014, the group announced its own state, or caliphate. al-Baghdadi became the declared caliph of the newly renamed Islamic State group.

The group ruled with a virulently extreme interpretation of Islamic law. The atrocities, massacres and beheadings by al-Baghdadi’s gunnies that followed ‐ many broadcast in grisly and macabre video postings on hard boy websites ‐ secured IS a spot in some of the darkest, most brutal annals of modern history.

Throughout it all, al-Baghdadi was in the shadows.

His only known public appearance on video was on June 29, 2014, when he appeared as a black-robed figure to deliver a sermon from the pulpit of Mosul’s Great Mosque of al-Nuri in which he urged Moslems around the world to swear allegiance to the caliphate and obey him as its leader.

"It is a burden to accept this responsibility to be in charge of you," he says in the video. "I am not better than you or more virtuous than you. If you see me on the right path, help me. If you see me on the wrong path, advise me and halt me. And obey me as far as I obey God."

Little is known about al-Baghdadi’s family. An ex-wife, Saja al-Dulaimi, and her daughter from al-Baghdadi, were detained in Leb in 2014. She was released a year later as part of a swap with al-Qaeda in exchange for kidnapped Lebanese soldiers and coppers. In July 2018, IS announced that al-Baghdadi’s son, Huthaifa al-Badri, had been killed fighting government forces in central Syria.

None of the subsequent reports of al-Baghdadi being killed or maimed were confirmed. In 2017, Russian officials said there was a "high probability" he had been killed in a Russian Arclight airstrike on the outskirts of Raqqa, but US officials later said they believed he was still alive.

He resurfaced in late September 2017, calling in an audio message on followers to burn their enemies everywhere. Another audio was posted last August in which al-Baghdadi urges followers to "persevere" in fighting IS’ enemies ‐ the speech was sprinkled with references to current events to show it was recent.

Experts tracking hard boy figures said the voice in the recordings was al-Baghdadi’s.

It was the last time he was heard of.

Pakistan’s terrified Christians
[DAWN] The prime minister and people of New Zealand have put before us gold-plated standards of decency, compassion, and firmness against religious terrorism. Their response to last week’s horrific mosque massacres in Christchurch was exemplary. Many countries need to learn from New Zealand, Pakistain more than most.

Donning a black chadar, 38-year-old Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was visibly sorrowing as she tightly hugged the bereaved women around her. Moslems are not others, she said. Referring to the dead, she spoke of them simply but poignantly, "they are us". To the Australian killer: "You may have chosen us ‐ we utterly reject and condemn you." Without the Bible and without reference to God, Ardern had been sworn into the prime minister’s office just 18 months ago. She says it is compassion that matters, not religion.

From end to end, her country also mourned. Newspapers reported florists running out of wreaths to be placed outside the two attacked mosques; donations for afflicted Moslem families poured in; churches held special services; and candle-light vigils were everywhere. An angered white teenage boy successfully landed an egg on the face of a far-right Australian senator who had blamed the Christchurch attack upon Moslem immigration into New Zealand. The senator promptly punched him ‐ a punch that the youth will probably forever treasure.

Caribbean-Latin America
Cabello: Roberto Marrero asked us to leave only President Maduro
[ELUNIVERSAL] Betraying President Nicolás Maduro, and leaving him alone on the political stage, was the main focus of Roberto Marrero on January 22, during the supposed meeting he attended with Juan Guaidó with government figures, said Diosdado Cabello.

The first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) offered the information this Saturday, in transmission of Venezolana de Televisión, prior to the beginning of the march "anti-imperialist" and in favor of the Government.

"This gentleman was in the meeting we had with the self-proclaimed on January 22, and he was there with him and in that meeting the most reactionary approach was his (Marrero) because Guaidó was scared. He (Marrero) proposed that we should leave only Nicolás, " said Cabello.

The Chavez leader said that the "national right" only seeks to develop a terrorist plan against the public services of the country. "They are wrong, there is going to be justice, be it Guaidó or Marrero, all in due time," he ratified.

He added that the conscience of the people is more strengthened after the attacks perpetrated on the National Electric System (SEN), on March 7, and stressed: "We are in victory, we defeated them."

Roberto Marrero was jugged

on Thursday of this week for being the head of a "terrorist cell" that planned "selective killings", and is being investigated for his alleged involvement in the frustrated liquidation against President Maduro, on August 4, on Avenida Bolívar de Caracas, during a military act, reported Minister Néstor Reverol and the Office of the Prosecutor.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
SDF Commander: Time to target sleeper cells following ISIS’s territorial defeat
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] ISIS’s territorial defeat now begins a new phase in operations against the bully boy group, which will target sleeper cells, according to a top Syrian Kurdish Commander.

Speaking at a presser held on Saturday following ISIS’s defeat in Syria by US-backed Syrian forces, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Commander Mazloum Kobane, said that the focus of upcoming military operations in the bully boys’ former heartland would be the elimination of sleeper cells "which are a great threat to our region and the whole world."

ISIS’s territorial defeat comes after a six-month operation which resulted in the death of more than 630 civilians, according to a monitoring group.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that during the months-long operations, 209 children and 157 women were killed ‐ some of which were relatives of the bully boy group.

The operation had also cost the lives of 730 SDF fighters, while 1,600 hard boyz were killed.

Following Saturday’s defeat, the US-led coalition congratulated the Syrian people and the SDF, adding that the SDF had made great sacrifices in eliminating ISIS. However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
the coalition said "the fight is not over."

The coalition also stressed on the importance of supporting the UN Security Council Resolution 2254 to end the conflict in Syria, as well as quoted US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
as he stressed on the importance of continuing the work to ensure the total elimination of ISIS.

Meanwhile,
...back at the cheese factory, all the pieces finally fell together in Fluffy's mind...
British Prime Minister Theresa May described the fall of the last bastion held by ISIS as a "historic milestone," as she paid tribute to British forces and coalition partners.

"The liberation of the last (ISIS-held) territory is a historic milestone that would not have been possible without their commitment, professionalism, and courage," she said in a statement.

The US-backed Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces launched their offensive against the bully boys’ last bastions in the Euphrates Valley on September 10, taking town after town before finally announcing victory in the village of Baghouz on Saturday.

Desperate ISIS leader becomes obese and shaves beard to escape from eastern Syria
[ALMASDARNEWS] His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...the head of ISIS, or what remains of it, and a veteran of the Abu Graib jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us. So far he has been killed at least four times, though not yet by a stake through the heart...
, the notorious leader of the ISIS* terrorist group, has resorted to altering his appearance to avoid detection and capture by the group’s numerous enemies, al-Araby al-Jadeed reports.

According to the media outlet, a source in the Iraqi National Security Service said that al-Bagdadi is currently hiding in Syria despite making several unsuccessful attempts to escape to Iraq.

The source also claimed that the terrorist organization’s leader changed his appearance by shortening his beard and dying his hair red, as well as by gaining weight to the point of obesity due to a lack of movement over the past two years.
Abu Fat Bastard
The news emerged as the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) attempt to dislodge ISIS forces from the town of Baghouz, the terrorist group’s last stronghold in Syria.

The source, however, stated that while al-Baghdadi had previously visited Bagouz on several occasions, at this time he is not present in the area.

The elusive ISIS leader has been reported dead numerous times in recent years, but ended up reappearing each time, though his current condition and exact whereabouts remain unknown.

In June 2017, the Russian Defence Ministry said that Baghdadi could have been killed as a result of an Arclight airstrike by the Russian Aerospace Forces, but several months later an alleged audio recording of Baghdadi emerged, casting doubt on the fate of the terrorist leader.

Hotel USSR
Memoir of a Soviet 'Non-Artist'

Oleg Atbashian
Copyright 2019 Oleg Atbashian

Mr. Atbashian, author of Shakedown Socialism and host of The Peoples' Cube , has written an account of his experiences growing up in the USSR.

Mr. Atbashian has a very clear, sharp mind, and it is interesting following his memories of coming of age and interpreting his environment, the Communist/Soviet construct. At 200 pages long and a personal narrative, I am going to keep the book quotations to a single entry.

Page 48-49

I could see how, many years ago, the industrial revolution would have resulted in resentment and longing for the idealized certainty of feudalism. Some couldn't accept a society where the free markets allowed uneducated shopkeepers and engine mechanics to wake up millionaires, while refined aristocrats often went penniless. It seemed unfair that money ruled while quixotic passions and heroism became a joke. Poets sold the dream of a bygone era where benevolent overlords took care of loyal peasants. That poetic mirage was more appealing than the prosaic reality of money and profits, where every man was responsible for his own destiny. Eventually some sappy thinkers invented "feudalism with a human face" and called is socialism. If the USSR were one day to go back to capitalism, I thought, we could expect a similar longing for the certainty of the good old days.

I imagined that Marx would have been terrified by the USSR: this surely wasn't what he had intended. He would also be dismayed by all the other Marxist regimes, no matter what continent or cultural background. Perhaps, the flaw was not in the implementation, but in the ideas themselves, consistently failed in practice, it was probably not so great to begin with.

Thinking about it made me draw an eerie specter of Don Quixote, the feudal fossil that haunted the capitalist world. He lurks outside its neon-lit cities and waits for an opportunity to attack its industries that are the updated windmills. I took Picasso's famous ink sketch and redrew it as a literal representation of Don Quixote's skeletal figure in three dimensions.

To the Spanish communist Pablo Picasso, Don Quixote may have been a heroic, if comical, social justice warrior. To Miguel Cervantes, who had created this character four hundred years ago, Don Quixote was an archetypal delirious fruitcake who wanted to change the world by turning the clock back to the idealized era that had never existed.

This bit stuck with me because I have just re-read Don Quixote, the first time being in school for assignment. My instructor and popular opinion would have you believe that Quixote was the epitome of chivalry and how things should be. Cervantes makes it clear at the very beginning that a jack-o-lantern has more light behind its eyes than Don Quixote, and by the time he charged the group of travelers and his horse fell, I was cheering for the dude thrashing him.

Back to the book. At $39.70 it seems a bit much for a short paperback, but you will see the illustrations, such as Don Quixote, that Mr. Atbashian created. This is a quality publication and well worth the $40 dollars. I hope the electron version includes the illustrations, as they are the spine of story.
I checked the Kindle version, It does.
If you have not read Shakedown Socialism, give it a read too.

This Week in Emergency Preparedness

Guess there were some springtime storms in the Texas Panhandle last night, which makes it Spring Tornado Season. Pack accordingly and keep an eye out. Especially you all along the Mississippi river system as the Nebraska flood waters work downstream: that crest meeting with a local storm would cause some flooding real quick, especially if the area is already saturated.

How is your boogie bag? New tech keeps coming out which expands your emergency kit and improves on the tools you have. Example: portable batteries for cell phones, electronics, etc. These things are as small as a deck of cards and will keep your communications up and running. Got an extra charging cord in your kit? Real aid is finally making its way into Nebraska...let's call it T+6 days - are you prepared for you and yours to be on a cot in a gym for that long before substantial help arrives? Emergency blankets take up almost no space. Marine/boating emergency food is highly compact and will get you by.

Take a minute this weekend during sportsball halftime or the walking soap opera and peek through your kit, or get one started. Because one second you may be sheltering from a 50mph blizzard, and the next a wall of water 10' tall is coming towards you. Looking at you, California and your snow pack.

Fire breaks out at Sudan’s old presidential palace
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Thick plumes of smoke billowed into the sky Saturday as a fire destroyed Sudan’s old presidential palace in the capital Khartoum.
named after a horse's head in The Godfather
Police cordoned off the streets heading to the palace, built in 1832 on the bank of the Blue Nile, as smoke billowed from the building.

The fire broke out due to a short circuit in some of the offices on the second floor of the palace, the presidency said.

"Most offices in the old republican palace are not in use... the fire has now been brought under control," Mohammed Saleh, an official at the presidency said in a statement.

He did not say whether there were any casualties.

The palace was the official seat of the Sudanese government in the decades following the country’s independence in 1956.

But in recent years, President Omar al-Bashir
Head of the National Congress Party. He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself president-for-life. He has fallen out with his Islamic mentor, Hasan al-Turabi, tried to impose shariah on the Christian and animist south, resulting in its secessesion, and attempted to Arabize Darfur by unleashing the barbaric Janjaweed on it. Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it.
had shifted to a new palace from where he runs his administration’s daily affairs.

The 75-year-old leader is facing a wave of angry protests against his iron-fisted rule of three decades, with demonstrators calling on him to step down.

The court in Rwanda’s southern Nyanza area acquitted 25 others after the prosecution failed to prove their involvement in bully boy acts.

the 40 in January 2016, less than a week after they killed Muhammad Mugemangango, a preacher accused of encouraging youths to join bully boy groups. Security personnel also seized jihadist materials such as books, CDs and social network messages.

One of those convicted, Salim Fundi, participated in "coordinating people in Rwanda who wanted to join terrorist group of al-Shabaab in Somalia," said Judge Eugene Ndagijimana while delivering the ruling.

Those convicted included three women, two of them arrested at the airport in Kigali while en route to Syria and another convicted of helping them with $1,000 for flight tickets.

Most Rwandans are Christians, Moslems account for about 2.5 percent of population.

After Mugemangango’s death, the country’s main Moslem association, Rwanda Moslems, said it planned to circulate messages condemning radicalisation to all of Rwanda’s mosques.

Afghanistan
Taliban claim twin blasts that kill four at Afghan stadium
[Al Jazeera] Two kabooms went off inside a stadium hosting an agricultural show in southern Afghanistan killing four people and wounding 31, government officials said.

The blasts took place in Lashkar Gah, the capital of the volatile Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
province, as people marked Farmers' Day as part of Persian New Year celebrations, attended by nearly 1,000 people.

Local Afghan news website TOLOnews reported that the provincial economic chief in Helmand, Mohammad Khan Nusrat, was killed in the attack.

Helmand's governor was also at the stadium but was unhurt.

The blasts appeared to have been caused by explosives placed in tents set up for farmers to display their products.

The Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
grabbed credit for the attack in a statement sent to the media.

It said the target was top Afghan officials and claimed that no civilians were harmed in the blasts.

Afghanistan's Caped President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. condemned the attack.

"The holy warriors are the enemies of peoples' bright future and development, they are attacking civilian installations, gatherings, and occasions to spread fear and horror, and to hide their defeats on the battlefront," Ghani said in a statement.
Khaama Press’s report makes it clear the fog has not yet cleared:
Taliban

front man Zabiullah Mujahid issued a statement claiming that several high level government officials including deputy provincial governor, provincial intelligence chief, border forces commander, director of information and culture, director of agriculture and irrigation, and director of economy of Helmand were killed or maimed.

Mujahid went on to claim that the civilians were not hurt in the two kabooms.

The Ministry of Interior officials have said at least 3 people have died and more than 30 others have sustained injuries in the kabooms.

Provincial governor’s front man Omar Zwak said at least two peole have died and 21 others have sustained injuries in today’s twin kabooms.

In the meantime, provincial public health officials are saying that two people including a civilian and a provincial official have died in the kabooms.

Reports of panic at Disneyland in Paris
[TWITTER]
False alarm: Footage of the incident shows panic spreading as visitors at the amusement park scream and run for cover Saturday night after hearing loud noises. Turns out, the sounds came from a faulty escalator and there's no threat to the public ... but it still caused chaos.

Police reportedly say people mistook the sounds for gunfire or detonations, and there was a brief stampede before Disneyland officials and law enforcement got things under control.

Cops bust suspect seen kicking elderly woman in the head on subway
[NYPOST] Cops busted the monster caught on video beating up an elderly woman on a Bronx subway train

"The subject wanted for the brutal subway attack of an elderly woman IS IN CUSTODY. The victim was treated & released from the hospital & is getting the care, advocacy & support needed," Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea announced Saturday.

Charges are pending against the man, whose name was not immediately released.

The viral video shows the man attacking the 78-year-old victim as she is sitting in a northbound No. 2 train around 3 a.m. March 10, police said.

She tried to defend herself as her attacker kicked her in the face and body ‐ while straphangers can be heard shouting in the background, but doing nothing to intervene.

As the train was stopped at Nereid Avenue, the man yells something at his victim before turning around, looking at the camera and shouting, "WorldStar that, my n‐a." ‐ referring to the popular social media page that is filled with violent videos. He then got off the train.

China-Japan-Koreas
N. Korean Diplomats Return to Their Posts After Pyongyang Visit
[WORLD.KBS.CO.KR] North Korea's Ambassadors to China and the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
have arrived back in Beijing after visiting Pyongyang earlier in the week.

Ambassador to China Ji Jae-ryong and Ambassador to the United Nations in New York Kim Song arrived in the Beijing Capital International Airport on Saturday morning via an Air Koryo flight from Pyongyang.

Ji is expected to return to his post immediately while Kim is expected to take a flight to New York after taking a rest at the North Korean Embassy in Beijing.

Along with more than seven other diplomats, including the North's Ambassador to Russia Kim Hyong-jun, the two diplomats returned to Pyongyang on Tuesday. Their simultaneous trip sparked speculation that they would meet North Korean leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
and other top leaders to discuss its nuclear negotiation strategy following the breakdown of last month's summit with the United States in Hanoi.

A diplomatic source says the diplomats' return to their host countries means that North Korea has decided on a new strategy toward the United States.

North Korean Border Defense Official Arrested on Smuggling-related Charges
[RFA.ORG] North Korean authorities on March 15 incarcerated
I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
the commander of one of the country’s border defense regiments, who is alleged to have embezzled funds earned in a state-sanctioned car smuggling scheme.

Sources say the arrest seems out of place, as smuggling is rampant along the border with China, and carried out by or with the connivance of state agencies.

Residents find it odd for authorities of North Korea, which rejects the international trade sanctions that the smuggling is trying to evade, to be suddenly concerned about the smuggling trade, leading some to believe that is the result of political tension, while others believe it is a simple cash grab.

"The commander of the border defense regiment from the Hyesan area was arrested by the defense security command [on the 15th]. He has continually been involved in car smuggling, and [the authorities] didn’t seem to care. But then suddenly a crackdown has begun," said a source from Yanggang province to RFA’s Korean Service on March 16.

"Many people have doubts about the reasons for the [sudden] crackdown," said the source.

The source explained that Hyesan, situated on the southernmost point of Yanggang province’s border with China, has been a traditional hotbed for the smuggling business, where authorities either look the other way, or even assist smuggling operations.

"People here say that Hyesan is the best smuggling route in the whole country, so that’s why there are so many smugglers bringing goods through from China," the source said.

"Border guards in Hyesan are tight with state-run agencies and they aid smugglers," said the source.

The source revealed that in many cases the authorities are themselves smugglers.

"The state-run trade agencies are all involved with smuggling themselves, and it’s really just another way of conducting trade for the nation in a way that allows them to avoid U.N. sanctions," the source added.

Arabia
Arab Coalition launches air raids on Houthi sites in Sanaa
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Arab Coalition mounted air raids targeting Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
sites in Yemen’s capital of Sanaa on Saturday.

The raids targeted two sites in Sanaa which were used by the Houthi militia to store unmanned drones.

"We are asking civilians not to approach the targeted sites for their own safety," a statement released read.

Al Arabiya sources also confirmed that the Arab Coalition launched separate air raids on Houthi sites in the province of al-Bayda.

Earlier in the day, the Arab Coalition launched air raids on Houthi camps in Sanaa, including the al-Dulaimi air base. This comes hours after the Houthis announced the downing of a coalition aircraft on the outskirts of Sanaa, according to the militias' media outlets.

Yemen’s National Army, backed by the Arab Coalition, managed on Saturday to liberate new strategic positions in Saada’s Kitaf al-Boqe'e district, which were previously held by the Houthis.

Shabaab raid kills 11 in Somalia, including deputy minister
[DAWN] An attack involving button men and kabooms on a complex housing government ministries in Somalia's capital killed at least 11 people on Saturday, including the deputy labour minister, officials said.

Claimed by the Al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
group, the assault was a sign of the insurgency's continued ability to strike at the heart of Somalia's government, despite years of foreign military support for Mogadishu.

The fighting began with two blasts at the gates of the complex housing the labour and works ministries.

Police say at least four button men then stormed the buildings, leading to a shootout as officers rushed to confront the attackers.

"The corpse count reached eleven, three of them women, and the number of maimed is 15," said Abdukadir Abdirahman Adan, director of Mogadishu's Aamin ambulance service.

Senator Ilyas Ali Hassan confirmed that Saqar Ibrahim Abdalla, the deputy minister for labour and social affairs, was also killed.

"I cannot elaborate on how he died but I can confirm that he was killed inside the ministry building," Hassan said.

Al-Shabaab Claims Attack On Government Building In Mogadishu
[RADIOSHABELLE] Somali bully boy group al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
has launched yet another complex attack in the capital, Mogadishu, witnesses, and officials say.

A boom-mobile blast rocked the Shangani district of Mogadishu early Saturday.

Witnesses said the kaboom targeted a building housing the ministries of Labor and of General Works, Reconstruction, and Housing. The Headquarters of Mogadishu regional police are also located in the area.

A second kaboom was reported minutes later in the same area. Witnesses said the kaboom came from another car believed to have been used by armed button men. The button men stormed the building according to witnesses.

Gunfire has been heard at the building housing the two ministries. Pictures taken by local media show some of the workers escaping through the back windows.

The al-Shabaab bully boy group grabbed credit for the attack. Through its affiliate media, al-Shabaab also claimed its fighters entered the buildings of Labor, and General Works, Reconstruction & Housing.
