Al Sharpton Slams Donald Trump for Not Releasing His Tax Returns
As protesters readied for mass "Tax Day" demonstrations on Saturday, Rev. Al Sharpton slammed President Donald Trump for refusing to divulge his personal financial information, which has broken a White House tradition dating back to the late President Richard Nixon.
Wow. There's a long-standing "tradition" for you.
Speaking at his weekly rally at the Harlem headquarters of his National Action Network, Sharpton noted that thousands would take to the streets in a few hours to demand the president at long last disclose his full fiscal history and provide an account of his global business dealings. During the campaign season, Trump claimed he could not release his returns because he was under audit, which the Internal Revenue Service and other observers deemed a spurious excuse.
I don't recall the IRS saying it was spurious. I recall them saying that he could if he wanted.
The then-candidate promised to disclose his tax details once the review was over--a promise he rescinded upon winning the presidency.
I had no idea his audit as over. Good for Donald the election is over. And the voters voted for him. Despite his not taking part in the long-standing tradition of not publishing his tax returns. Which should give everyone who decries what happened reason to pause. But it doesn't occur to them that that is what it means to be elected.
"They are raising the question of the president never having released his taxes. Why is that important?" Sharpton said. "Well, not only is it a tradition, but it is the only way you will know some of his business entanglements is to see the taxes and the income and the liabilities he owes to whom and for what."
It seems, however, that at least half of the people who voted apparently care less about this than they do about the US going down the toilet.
Sharpton, like other liberal critics, highlighted the high-profile ties of numerous disgraced Trump associates--including former campaign manager Paul Manafort, campaign advisor Carter Page and former national security advisor Gen. Michael Flynn--to Russian strongman Vladimir Putin, and further underscored reports that the commander-in-chief’s eponymous company has had dealings with Eurasian oligarchs. The civil rights leader insinuated the president has refused to release his returns because he has something to hide.

He further asserted that the U.S. missile attack on an airfield belonging to Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, a Russian ally, earlier this month was little more than theater.

"They said they standing up to the Russians," Sharpton said. "We need to know his financial dealings."

The activist acknowledged the 2014 New York Times report that uncovered some $4.5 million in state and federal tax liens against him and entities he owned. Those reports spawned countless spinoff articles and memes shared on social media in conservative circles.

"You got trawlers that write in all over Facebook and stuff about taxes I done paid," Sharpton complained. "They more interested in taxes I paid than they interested in the president and don’t know what taxes he did, didn’t do and where it come from. Because they hyped up the right wing into blindly defending him."

On the eve of Easter, Sharpton also compared his journey from political pariah to a nationally televised pundit and advisor to Mayor Bill de Blasio, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and former President Barack Obama with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
So the way you go from pariah to pundit is to be part of the liberal media?
"They done buried my career 30 times. But God called me and it don’t matter. Every day I walk into NBC, every day I walked into Obama’s White House, you thought I was waving at cameras--I was showing the nails in my hand," he said. "I am he that you buried and God brought me back!"
You think you're pretty important, don't you? Does God speak to you directly then?

San Francisco State University Still Partnering with Terror Hotbed
This is an article describing a Memorandum of Understanding with San Francisco State University and the student organization of Fatah, said organization promoting terrorism. A sampling:
[MEForum] In 2016, the Middle East Forum (MEF) launched a campaign calling on San Francisco State University (SFSU) President Leslie Wong to end the school's 2014 memorandum of understanding (MOU) with An-Najah University -- a college in the West Bank that promotes radicalism and Palestinian violence.

Since that time, Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) has documented two cases of a Najah student group promoting terrorism.

Last month, PMW reported that Shabiba -- the student branch of Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah movement at Najah -- displayed a logo (above right) on Fatah's official Facebook page featuring a coat of arms with a "resistance" fist in the shape of a PA map of "Palestine" encompassing all of Israel. It was accompanied by the violent slogan, "From the sea of blood of the martyrs, we will create a state."

Then, on March 29, Fatah's Facebook page featured Shabiba's call for a day of terror against Israel on April 17. Shabiba promised to "to burn the land under the feet of the tyrants," and threatened to replicate a previous terror attack in which 16 people were murdered.
Read the whole thing at the headline link. This goes beyond sanctuary cities issue, more like support of terrorist organizations.

Elizabeth Warren says Mitch McConnell refuses to speak to her
Oh dear -- the cut direct. Has she considered joining a monastery?
[WashingtonExaminer] Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., says she takes every opportunity to say hello to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., but he has refused to speak with her since her notorious February battle with Republicans over the nomination of Jeff Sessions to be attorney general.

"The progressive senator spoke about her experience with McConnell in an interview with the Boston Globe, while promoting her upcoming book "This Fight Is Our Fight." The book reportedly ends right before Republicans voted to silence her during the debate over Sessions nomination. A move that was backed by McConnell.

The action gained nationwide attention, resulting in an outpouring of support for Warren. According to Warren, hard feelings led McConnell to stop speaking with her."

'I've spoken to him, but he has not spoken to me," Warren said. "I say hello to Mitch every chance I get, and he turns his head."

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
The Strange Case of a Nazi Who Became an Israeli Hitman
[Haaretz] On September 11, 1962, a German scientist vanished. The basic facts were simple: Heinz Krug had been at his office, and he never came home.

The only other salient detail known to police in Munich was that Krug commuted to Cairo frequently. He was one of dozens of Nazi rocket experts who had been hired by Egypt to develop advanced weapons for that country.

HaBoker, a now defunct Israeli newspaper, surprisingly claimed to have the explanation: The Egyptians kidnapped Krug to prevent him from doing business with Israel. But that somewhat clumsy leak was an attempt by Israel to divert investigators from digging too deeply into the case -- not that they ever would have found the 49-year-old scientist.

We can now report -- based on interviews with former Mossad officers and with Israelis who have access to the Mossad’s archived secrets from half a century ago -- that Krug was murdered as part of an Israeli espionage plot to intimidate the German scientists working for Egypt.

Bride and groom booted off United flight in Houston
A bride and groom headed to Costa Rica for their wedding got kicked off their United flight out of Houston on Saturday afternoon.

The incident took place on United Airlines Flight 1737 which was headed from Houston (IAH) to Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR).

The couple, along with their friends, were flying from Salt Lake City and had a layover at George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

Michael Hohl, the groom, said he and his fiancé, Amber Maxwell, were the last to board the plane.

According to Hohl, they noticed a man was spread across their row napping when they approached their seats, 24 B and C.

Not wanting to wake the man, Hohl said they decided to sit a three rows up in seats 21 B and C. He said they didn't think it would matter because the flight was half full with multiple empty rows.

"We thought not a big deal, it’s not like we are trying to jump up into a first-class seat," said Hohl."We were simply in an economy row a few rows above our economy seat."

In a Boeing 737-800 like the one the couple was on, United considers Row 21 "economy plus," an upgrade.

After sitting, Hohl said a flight attendant approached and asked if they were in their ticketed seats. The couple explained they weren't and asked if they could get an upgrade, but instead they were told they needed to return to their assigned seats.

Hohl said after complying with the flight attendant's demand, a U.S. Marshall came onto the plane and asked them to get off.

The couple cooperated and got off the plane without incident, but they still don't understand why.

"They said that we were being disorderly and a hazard to the rest of the flight, to the safety of the other customers," said Hohl.

United Airlines claims they actually tried to sit in an upgraded seat "repeatedly" and they "wouldn't follow crew instructions."

The airline provided this statement on Saturday:

"We’re disappointed anytime a customer has an experience that doesn’t measure up to their expectations. These passengers repeatedly attempted to sit in upgraded seating which they did not purchase and they would not follow crew instructions to return to their assigned seats. We’ve been in touch with them and have rebooked them on flights tomorrow."
Yeah. I'm sure it happened like that. I think I just figured out where Susan Rice ended up working.
The bride and groom were rebooked for another flight the next morning, but Hohl said they won't be flying United again and described the whole situation as "quite strange."

"I think customer service and the airlines has gone real downhill," said Hohl. "The way United Airlines handled this was really absurb."

Despite their flight delay, their wedding is still planned for Thursday.

United Airlines recently made headlines after a doctor was violently dragged off a flight as seen in a video that went viral.

Germany: Attack on Russian Embassy Foiled ‘at Last Minute'
[Breitbart] The Moroccan migrant suspect at the centre of a foiled plot to launch an attack outside the Russian embassy in Berlin, Germany, was arrested "at the last minute", just hours before the terror attack was due to take place.

The migrant had come to the attention of the security services after discussing his plans on social media under a number of pseudonyms.

New details of the attack have come to light in the German press. As reported by Die Welt, the Moroccan male identified as Mohammed B.H. had told others he intended to infiltrate a protest that would take place outside the Russian embassy during the second weekend of April, and then launch his attack from there.

Die Welt reported that a special police task force acted on intelligence gathered on the suspect, raiding the migrant ’container village’ of 8,000 residents where Mohammed lived at five o’clock on the morning of the day he planned to launch his attack. The Moroccan male attempted to escape, but he was arrested and has now been charged.

McCain raises doubts US sabotaged North Korean missile launch
[The Hill] Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) dismissed the possibility that the U.S. hacked North Korea's nuclear missile test, leading to its failed launch.

"I don’t think so, but I wouldn’t rule it out," McCain told host Chuck Todd on NBC’s "Meet the Press" on Sunday.

There have been reports that "digital interference" from the U.S. government disrupted the North Korea missile launch test.

U.S. Pacific Command said the North Korean missile "blew up almost immediately" after its test launch earlier Sunday.
Former British Foreign Secretary Sir Malcolm Rifkind first suggested to the BBC that the U.S. could have been behind the failed attempt through an act of sabotage.

"It could have failed because the system is not competent enough to make it work, but there is a very strong belief that the US through cyber methods has been successful on several occasions in interrupting these sorts of tests and making them fail," Rifkind said.

David Shuster, a reporter at i24NEWS, also tweeted Sunday that "multiple intelligence sources" tell him that U.S. federal hackers sabotaged North Korea’s missile launch.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
The deal of the century for an end to the war in Syria
I'm not sure the author is completely serious
[IsraelNationalNews] There is no end in sight for the Syrian War because both sides have a lot of fight left in them. This is due in part to the fact that losing is not an option for either and both sides are being financed by oil money.

What started as a civil war in 2011 quickly escalated in a sectarian war between Shiites, (Iran, Alawite Syria and Hezbollah) and local Sunnis aided and abetted by Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states and from time to time Turkey.

Almost from the start, President Obama backed the ouster of Assad by Turkey and some of the Gulf states with the intention of installing the Muslim Brotherhood to run Syria just as he installed the Muslim Brotherhood to run Egypt.

Victory was almost within the Sunni grasp until Russia entered the fray on the side of the Shiites and turned the tables. At some point along the way, Obama, in pursuit of the Iran Deal, backed away from original plans to oust Assad. This deal greatly strengthened Iran by giving it $150 billion and a license for seeking hegemony.

The conflict between Shiites and Sunnis dates back to a dispute over succession to Muhammad as a caliph of the Islamic community upon his death in 632.
IMO even before that, as various groups chose Shia Islam to oppose their old enemies who now were Sunni.
...Today at least 85% of the 1.5 billion Muslims in the world are Sunni, but the Shiites are concentrated in Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Bahrain.

...In 2003 President Bush removed Saddam Hussain from power in Iraq and attempted to transform Iraq into a democracy.
Should've started with something easier e.g. teaching calculus to dogs.
The end result was that the majority Shiites were put in power and Iranian influence in Iraq dramatically escalated. This action, in effect, removed the most important bulwark in the way of Iran’s hegemonic ambitions.

...The turmoil in Lebanon, Syria and Iraq can rightly find its roots in the Sykes-Picot agreement which Britain, France and Russia signed in 1916 believing that they would defeat the Ottoman empire in WWI. Essentially, in it, they divided up the spoils into three spheres of influence, one for each of them. When Russia withdrew from the war, it was no longer part of the agreement.

Due to the hue and cry that followed when this agreement became public, Sykes-Picot morphed into the more palatable division of the Ottoman Empire into Mandates, namely the Palestine, Syria and Iraq mandates, in which the ultimate goal was to usher in independence for the inhabitants of each area. No regard was held for the Shiite/Sunni divide, which was simply ignored. And thus we have sectarian conflict in Syria and Iraq.

Although Palestine was originally intended by the Mandate to be a Jewish state, Britain thwarted this goal by restricting Jewish immigration and encouraging Muslim immigration. And thus we have sectarian conflict in Israel. This conflict has resulted in many wars and has defied resolution.

For six years now the conflict in Syria and Iraq has defied resolution because there are no good choice

Frank Gaffney Jr., in a recent interview in which the removal of Assad was the topic, said:

"The choices, unfortunately, seem to be more of the same. At best, it’s an Assad-Lite, supported by the Russians, supported presumably by the Iranians, supported by Hezbollah. Or, alternatively, it’s Sharia supremacists of the Sunni stripe supported by the Saudis, supported by the Turks, supported by perhaps al-Qaeda or the Islamic State, or simply the Muslim Brotherhood. All very bad choices, in my judgment."

..."I think the president is now being buffeted by individuals who have come in who apparently do not agree with his priority of defeating radical Islamic terrorism, as he calls it, and who have, instead, the view that we should align ourselves with people who are the prime movers behind radical Islamic terrorism. That would include, by the way, the Saudis. It would include the Turks. It would include the Qataris and others in the region. I think that’s a grave concern."

I share his concerns but have some suggestions to make.

At the beginning of the Syrian War, Turkey had visions of taking over Syria and recreating the Ottoman Empire. Why not play into that?
Let’s say, President Trump, the master of the deal, approaches Turkey with the following deal.

1.Turn from your drift to a 'neo-Ottoman jihad state' and reestablish the modern, secular nation-state of Turkey based on the reforms of Ataturak instituted in 1923.
For one thing, Erdogan can't stay in power - or even keep breathing - in secular Turkey.
2. Allow the secession of southern Turkey where 10 million Kurds live so they can have their independence and join the New Kurdistan if they so choose.
For another, even secular Turks oppose Kurdish succession.
3. In return, the US will assist you in taking over the Sunni areas of Syria and Iraq and allow you to annex them if you so wish.
Leaving aside the question of territorial continuity, is this feasible domestically (in USA)?
That would leave Alawite Syria as a state in which Russia could maintain its port and air field.

What’s not to like?
I don't see this as practical, but would like the part where Turks would have to cope with "Sharia supremacists of the Sunni stripe"

's wife of her British citizenship, for supporting her husband's regime during the country's ongoing war.

The Liberal Democrats' foreign affairs front man, MP Tom Brake, on Sunday accused Assad of using her international profile to defend "a barbarous regime".

"(Foreign Secretary) Boris Johnson has urged other countries to do more about Syria, but the British government could say to Asma Assad -- either stop using your position to defend barbaric acts, or be stripped of your citizenship," Brake said.

His remarks follow Johnson branding the Syrian president an "arch-terrorist", in a Sunday Telegraph newspaper article calling on Syria ally Russia to end its support for Bashir al-Assad.

Brake's comments echoed those of MP Nadhim Zahawi, from the ruling Conservative Party.

"The time has come where we go after (Bashar) Assad in every which way, including people like Mrs Assad, who is very much part of the propaganda machine that is committing war crimes," he was quoted in the Sunday Times newspaper as saying.

People who cast blasphemy accusations need to be educated, says Imam-i-Kaaba
[DAWN] Imam-e-Kaaba Sheikh Saleh Bin Mohammad Bin Ibrahim, in an interview with Geo News, said when it comes to accusing someone of blasphemy, there are two types of people, "those who are illiterate and those who misuse Islam for personal gains", adding there is no reprieve in religion for the latter.

Ibrahim's comments came when a debate surrounding the Blasphemy law has resurfaced following the lynching of a university student in Mardan by an angry mob, comprising mainly of other fellow students, based on blasphemy allegations.

The Imam of Makkah's Grand Mosque, in the interview aired on Sunday, said the people who are illiterate and cast false blasphemy accusations on someone should be educated and given the relevant knowledge.

However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
he added that those "whose hearts are plagued with disease misuse Islam intentionally".

Ibrahim further said, "Allah (SWT) has said that He will not reveal His signs to those who act as an authority on earth," adding that such people "will never choose to follow the right path even if directed towards it".

‘You inspire the world’: US Vice-President Mike Pence addresses South Korean military personnel
[SCMP] US Vice-President Mike Pence said North Korea’s "provocation" underscored the risks faced by American and South Korean service members, hours after the North conducted a failed missile launch shortly before his arrival.

Pence landed in South Korea at the start of a 10-day trip to Asia and was quickly confronted with the stakes facing the US as Pyongyang seeks to flex its muscles around the birth anniversary of the country’s late founder and advance the government’s nuclear and missile capabilities.

While Pence was aboard Air Force Two flying over the Bering Sea, a North Korean missile went kaboom! on launch, US and South Korean officials said, representing a high-profile failure that came as a powerful US aircraft carrier approaches the Korean Peninsula.

After arriving in Seoul, the vice-president placed a wreath at Seoul National Cemetery and then worshipped with military personnel at an Easter church service at the US Army Garrison Yongsan. During a meal after the services, he said the tensions on the Korean peninsula had put into sharp focus the importance of the joint US-South Korean mission.

He said the six other pirates survived the attack and escaped.

Al Shabaab claims bomb attack on WFP convoy
[SHABELLENEWS] The Al Qaeda-linked Al shabaab turbans claimed credit for a roadside kaboom targeted on a convoy carrying WFP employees near Somali capital, Mogadishu on Sunday, April 16.

According to Al shabaab, the land mine blast tore through one of the vehicles and inflicted casualties on WFP staff members. There was no independent confirmation on deaths.

So far, the World Food Program (WFP) did not comment on the attack, and the claim of Al shabaab of killing aid workers.

Misrata Municipal Council plans legal action against opponents
[Libya Herald] Misrata Municipal Council says it will take legal action against those trying to overthrow it. It follows fresh action by protestors who today again bricked up the main entrance to the council offices. They first did so on Thursday, but council supporters then removed the blockage.

In a statement today describing the opponents as "criminals", the municipal council said that while everyone had the right to peaceful protest, attacking the council offices and preventing its staff from entering and working would not be tolerated.

The protestors, organised by the city’s Military Council and its Council of Elders and Wise Men, yesterday also announced they were shutting down the local headquarters of the Justice and Construction Party (J&C), the political wing of the Moslem Brüderbund. They said they wanted it and all other political parties banned.

The divide is ideological. The protestors believe that only "revolutionaries" have the right to hold political office and run the country. As such, they oppose both Khalifa Hafter and the Libyan National Army in the east of the country and the Presidency Council (PC) in Tripoli

At some point, no doubt, the Egyptian authorities will announce whether the arrestees were Ansar Bayt al Maqdis (ISIS) or one of the Muslim Brotherhood's new militant groups... or a joint task force.
It was not immediately clear when the arrests took place.

Security forces have also discovered two farms in Alexandria and the neighboring province of Beheira that were used to make explosives and store weapons, the ministry added.

Egypt’s prosecution detains 3 suspects in church bombing investigation
[AlAhram] Egypt's prosecution detained three alleged members of a terrorist cell on Sunday as part of investigations into the bombing of two churches on Palm Sunday that left dozens killed and injured.

The three suspects will be detained for 15 days pending investigations into their involvement in the terrorist attacks.

On 9 April, two suicide kabooms hit St George's Cathedral in Tanta and St Mark's Cathedral in Alexandria, killing 46 people and injuring dozens in the deadliest attack on Copts in the country's recent history. The attacks were timed to take place on Palm Sunday, at the start of Holy Week, in the run up to Easter, thereby ensuring large-scale casualties.

(IS) group grabbed credit for the attacks, naming the Alexandria jacket wallah as Abu Isaac al-Masry and the Tanta suicide bomber as Abu al-Baraa al-Masry.

One day following the attacks, the interior ministry said that police had killed seven members of a terrorist cell in a shootout in Upper Egypt's Assiut governorate.

The three men detained on Sunday are being investigated on suspicion of joining an illegal group that calls for disobeying authority and overthrowing the state, as well as attacking Christian citizens and their places of worship.

The three suspects are also accused of conducting a terrorist attack in January on a security checkpoint in New Valley governorate, leaving eight coppers dead.

The interior ministry said at the time that the checkpoint attack was executed by 12 bad boys, two of whom were killed by the police during the attack.

Christian man tortured in Sheikhupura for 'befriending' Muslim woman
[DAWN] A Christian man was reportedly assaulted and burnt with hot iron rods, allegedly by the family of a Moslem woman in Sheikhupura district, for having "friendship" with her, it has been learnt.

The victim had received severe burn wounds and after failing to get proper medical care in Sheikhupura, he was shifted to Mayo Hospital, Lahore, on Sunday for further medical treatment.

The incident happened earlier this month and a police case has also been lodged against the father and brothers of the woman, who were reportedly against the friendship between the two and allegedly tortured 21-year-old Ansar Masih.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) undersigned by Masih's sister in Sheikhupura's Saddar cop shoppe, Masih first established contact with the woman two years ago and their friendship grew with time.

They often spoke on phone and Masih would also visit the woman neighbourhood to meet her, the FIR stated.

When the woman's family learned of the friendship, her father, Manzoor, and her brothers called Masih's father asking him to tell his son to stay away from the woman, warning them of dire consequences if their instructions were not followed, the FIR added.

On April 1, Ansar's mother sent him to run an errand in the woman's neighbourhood where Ansar was allegedly kidnapped by the accused and his two sons, the report stated, adding the three unclothed him, beat him and burned him using hot iron rods.

The FIR further states that the accused then brought Ansar to his house and told his family that he had been in a traffic accident.

Ansar's family then rushed him to Sheikhupura's District Headquarters Hospital where, after gaining consciousness, he narrated the incident.

Subsequently, on April 5, his sister lodged the FIR following which the police took the accused into custody.

Speaking to DawnNews, the victim's father claimed that the family was under pressure by the accused as well as the area police to reconcile and take back the case.

When contacted, the officials at DHQ confirmed that Ansar had been shifted to Lahore's Mayo Hospital as the facility in Sheikhupura lacked equipment and necessary supplies to treat patients with serious burn injuries.

Ansar's condition is reportedly stable now. However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
his medical treatment is underway.

Turkey’s Erdogan hails ‘historic’ referendum win as opposition claims fraud
[IsraelTimes] Constitutional changes include replacing parliamentary system with presidential one, granting sweeping executive powers to president; opponents to challenge vote.

Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
declared victory in Sunday’s referendum that will grant sweeping powers to the presidency, hailing the result as a "historic decision."

Speaking to news hounds in Istanbul, Erdogan said unofficial results showed the "yes" side had won by a margin of 1.3 million votes.

The president struck a conciliatory tone, thanking all voters regardless of how they cast their ballots and describing the referendum as a "historic decision."

"April 16 is the victory of all who said yes or no, of the whole 80 million, of the whole of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
of 780,000-square kilometers," Erdogan said.

Returns carried by the state-run Anadolu news agency showed that with nearly 99 percent of the vote counted, the "yes" vote had about 51.3 percent compared to 48.7 percent for the "no" vote.
Returns carried by the state-run Anadolu news agency showed that with nearly 99 percent of the vote counted, the "yes" vote had about 51.3 percent compared to 48.7 percent for the "no" vote.

Turkey’s main opposition party vowed to challenge the results reported by Anadolu agency, saying they were skewed.

Erdogan has long sought to broaden his powers, but a previous attempt failed after the governing party that he co-founded fell short of enough votes to pass the reforms without holding a referendum.

Opponents argued the plan concentrate too much power in the hands of a man they allege has shown increasingly autocratic tendencies.

The outcome is expected to have a huge effect on Turkey’s long-term political future and its international relations. Although the result, if officially confirmed, would fall short of the sweeping victory Erdogan had sought, but nevertheless cements his hold on the country’s governance.

Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, whose position will be eliminated under the presidential system of government called for in the referendum, also welcomed the results and extended a hand to the opposition.

"We are all equal citizens of the Republic of Turkey," he said. "Both the ones who said ’no’ and the ones who said ’yes’ are one and are equally valuable."

"There are no losers of this referendum. Turkey won, the beloved people won," Yildirim said, adding that "a new page has opened in our democratic history with this vote. Be sure that we will use this result for our people’s welfare and peace in the best way."

Erdogan supporters gathered outside the AK Party headquarters in Istanbul to celebrate, sending fireworks into the night sky.

But the main opposition People’s Democratic Party, or CHP, cast doubt on the results. CHP vice chairman Erdal Aksunger said they would challenge 37 percent of the ballot boxes.

"Our data indicates a manipulation in the range of 3 to 4 percent," the party said on its Twitter account.

The country’s pro-Kurdish opposition party, which also opposed the constitutional changes, said it plans to object to two-thirds of the ballots.

An unprecedented decision by Turkey’s Supreme Election board to accept as valid ballot papers that don’t have the official stamp also drew the ire of the CHP, with the party’s deputy chairman, Bulent Tezcan, saying the decision had left the referendum "with a serious legitimacy problem."

The board made the announcement after many voters complained about being given ballot papers without the official stamp, saying ballots would be considered invalid only if proven to have been fraudulently cast.

Sunday’s vote approved 18 constitutional changes that will replace Turkey’s parliamentary system of government with a presidential one, abolishing the office of the prime minister and granting sweeping executive powers to the president. The changes will come into effect with the next general election, scheduled for 2019.

The reforms allow the president to appoint ministers, senior government officials and half the members of Turkey’s highest judicial body, as well as to issue decrees and declare states of emergency. They set a limit of two five-year terms for presidents and also allow the president to remain at the helm of a political party.

province of Afghanistan.

The former President vowed to step up efforts in a bid to oust the US military from the country following the massive Arclight airstrike in Achin Nangarhar against ISIS murderous Moslems involving the non-nuclear GBU-43 bomb.

He slammed the government for allowing the US forces to carry out the strike and insisted that the move would be a national treason if the government had approved the use of the massive bomb.

The remarks by Karzai followed despite the Afghan government said it was in the loop when the Arclight airstrike was carried out.

UN child sex ring left victims but no arrests
[Dhaka Tribune] In the ruins of a tropical hideaway where jet-setters once sipped rum under the Caribbean sun, the abandoned children tried to make a life for themselves. They begged and scavenged for food, but they never could scrape together enough to beat back the hunger, until the UN peacekeepers moved in a few blocks away, reports the Associated press.

The men who came from a far-away place and spoke a strange language offered the Haitian children cookies and other snacks. Sometimes they gave them a few dollars. But the price was high: The Sri Lankan peacekeepers wanted sex from girls and boys as young as 12.

"I did not even have breasts," said a girl, known as V01 ‐ Victim No 1. She told UN Sherlocks that over the next three years, from ages 12 to 15, she had sex with nearly 50 peacekeepers, including a "Commandant" who gave her 75 cents. Sometimes she slept in UN trucks on the base next to the decaying resort, whose once-glamorous buildings were being overtaken by jungle.

Justice for victims like V01 is rare. An News Agency that Dare Not be Named investigation of UN missions during the past 12 years found nearly 2,000 allegations of sexual abuse and exploitation by peacekeepers and other personnel around the world ‐ signalling the crisis is much larger than previously known. More than 300 of the allegations involved children, but only a fraction of the alleged perpetrators served jail time.

Legally, the UN is in a bind. It has no jurisdiction over peacekeepers, leaving punishment to the countries that contribute the troops.

Without agreement for widespread reform and accountability from the UN’s member states, solutions remain elusive.

UN sex ring in Haiti
Here in Haiti, at least 134 Sri Lankan peacekeepers exploited nine children in a sex ring from 2004 to 2007, according to an internal UN report. In the wake of the report, 114 peacekeepers were sent home. None was ever imprisoned.

In March, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres announced new measures to tackle sexual abuse and exploitation by UN peacekeepers and other personnel. But the proclamation had a depressingly familiar ring: More than a decade ago, the United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
commissioned a report that promised to do much the same thing, yet most of the reforms never materialized.

For a full two years after those promises were made, the children in Haiti were passed around from soldier to soldier. And in the years since, peacekeepers have been accused of sexual abuse the world over.

In one particularly grim case in Haiti, a teenage boy said he was gang-raped in 2011 by Uruguayan peacekeepers who filmed the alleged assault on a cellphone. Dozens of Haitian women also say they were raped, and dozens more had what is euphemistically called "survival sex" in a country where most people live on less than $2.50 a day.

Haitian lawyer Mario Joseph has been trying to get compensation for victims of a deadly cholera strain linked to Nepalese peacekeepers that killed an estimated 10,000 people. Now, he is also trying to get child support for about a dozen Haitian women left pregnant by peacekeepers.

The rise of left-wing, anti-Trump fake news
[BBC] Since the US election presidential race, fact checking websites report what seems like an increase in anti-Trump, 'liberal fake news'.

The fact-checking site Snopes told BBC Trending radio that in the past week, for example, they have debunked many more anti-Republican party stories than pro-Republican ones.

One example of an incorrect story is the unflattering, digitally-manipulated image, which suggested that US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
had diarrhoea during a recent golf outing. Another falsely suggested that President Trump profited from the US missile strikes in Syria

It's hard to gather definitive data on the political bias in fake news stories, so the evidence for a rise in 'liberal fake news' is essentially anecdotal. But a recent study did effectively debunk the stereotype that fake news tends to be shared more by uneducated people or those with right-leaning politics, as compared to other groups.

"Fascinating and frightening"
"It [fake news] affects both the right and the left. It affects educated and uneducated. So the stereotypes of it being simply right-wing and simply uneducated are 100% not true," says Jeff Green, who is the CEO of Trade Desk, an internet advertising company that was recently commissioned by American TV channel CBS to investigate who is reading and sharing fake news online.

His company did this by initially putting out two fake news stories - one from the left which falsely stated police had raided a protestors camp at Standing Rock and burnt it down, and the other from a right-wing website about false claims there was a congressional plot to oust Donald Trump.

According to latest reports, MOAB left at least 90 people dead and destroyed the IS infrastructure. Initially, the corpse count was put at 36.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Gaza's sole power plant runs out of fuel
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] The Gazoo Strip's only functioning power plant was out of action Sunday after running out of fuel, the head of the territory's electricity provider told AFP.

Samir Metir said that all the plant's fuel, purchased with funding from Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, had been used up.

He said it was not clear when the Paleostinian territory would receive more, owing to a "dispute" between the electricity authority in Gazoo and Paleostinian authorities in the West Bank.

The Islamist Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", movement seized power in Gazoo in 2007 from the Ramallah-based Fatah organization of Paleostinian president the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
A mooted power-sharing agreement in the Strip has failed to materialize, and Gazoo residents have been subjected to a decade-long Israeli blockade severely limiting supplies.

Fuel supply for the Strip's two million inhabitants has been a long-running source of dispute, with most homes in Gazoo receiving two eight-hour periods of electricity a day even when the plant is operating normally.
The Times of Israel adds:
Israel last week warned of the upcoming fuel crisis, warning Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", that it must pay for the diesel fuel it consumes, which is supplied by Israeli energy company Dor.

In mid-September, Israel and the Paleostinian Authority signed an agreement to resolve the Paleostinians’ outstanding debt of almost NIS 2 billion ($530 million) to the Israel Electric Corporation.

The agreement was signed by the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) Yoav Mordechai, Paleostinian Authority Minister of Civil Affairs Hussein al-Sheik, Israel’s Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon and Israel’s Ministry of Finance Director-General Shai Babad.

The IEC began to scale back the electricity flow to West Bank Paleostinian cities in late May and early April due to the debt. Power supplies to Jericho and Bethlehem were limited, causing some blackouts, and the company threatened to do the same in other West Bank areas.

The agreement with the IEC from September did not affect the situation in the Gazoo Strip.

Trump Hits Back at Tax Protests, Asks 'Who Paid' for Rallies
[An Nahar] U.S. President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
on Sunday hit back at nationwide protests calling for him to release his tax returns, questioning "who paid for" the "small" rallies.

"Someone should look into who paid for the small organized rallies yesterday. The election is over!" the president tweeted Sunday morning.

That message came about an hour after an earlier tweet when he appeared to suggest the matter was a non-issue.

Trump has previously said Americans don't care about his returns.

"I did what was almost an impossible thing to do for a Republican-easily won the Electoral College! Now Tax Returns are brought up again?" Trump tweeted.

His messages came after thousands of protesters gathered Saturday in cities across America to pressure Trump to release his tax returns, a move of transparency he has repeatedly rejected.

The demonstrations were timed to coincide with the traditional April 15 deadline for annual tax filings, a key date on the calendar for U.S. households, and resulted in dozens of arrests.

For decades, U.S. presidents and presidential candidates have released their returns voluntarily, although there is no legal obligation to do so.

U.S. law requires only the publication of a financial statement that estimates assets, including debt and revenue, but does not give details on the amount of taxes paid.

Afghanistan
500 Pakistanis including ISI officers blown up in mammoth Afghan bombing by US
Interesting. D'you suppose this is true, dear Reader? That seems rather a lot of Pakistanis.
[ONEINDIA] At least 500 Pak nationals have been killed in the US bombing that took place at Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
province in Afghanistan. The area that was targetted was controlled by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
and protected by the Pakistain army, sources say.

The operation that was jointly coordinated by the 201 Selab Corps of the Afghanistan army targeted the caves and tunnels that were used as hiding places by the IS.

It is now clear that the Pakistain army was backing these IS operatives in Afghanistan, official sources also confirmed.

Indian agencies who are coordinating withe counterparts in Afghanistan have learnt that there are no civilians living in the area. There were a large number of stooges of the Inter-Services intelligence who have been protecting the IS operatives in this area. The US action comes at a time when there was a huge build-up of IS forces in Afghanistan.

Indian agencies say that the Pakistain army and the ISI were nurturing these operatives. The entire area that was bombed was under the control of the ISI officials backing the IS, sources also said. The impact of the bomb was so huge that it blew up at least 500 Paks and an equal number of IS operatives.

#1  This article is written by Vicky Nanjappa. I went to all of his most recent articles and during the past few days his reports indicated 36, then around 90, and now this one that says close to a thousand.

In his report that claimed 36 killed, he indicated that the US intelligence bombed the location because IS was setting up a major module at that location. In his report that revised the number to 90 he named some of the casualties, the means in which family members were notified, and names of their family members.

He seems very confident in his sources and does seem to follow up for confirmation. Other stories he has done in that region also seem non-sensational and matter of fact.

Therefore my assessment Fred of this article is the MOAB may have taken out a thousand death eaters at that base.

#1  WINGOC: Wastewater to clean water - Windhoek, Namibia

In this city, which suffers from chronic water shortage, Veolia and its partners have managed a wastewater plant since 2002. The facility recycles large volumes of wastewater in order to produce drinking water for nearly 300,000 inhabitants. Windhoek is one of the only cities in the world to recycle its water for domestic use, and the only one to do so on this scale.

The WINGOC (Windhoek Goreangab Operating Company) contract is a 20-year O&M contract signed in 2001 with the municipality of Windhoek, Namibia’s capital. The project company’s two partners are Veolia (67%) and Wabag (33%). Veolia is the majority holding company.

The project consists of a clean water treatment plant constructed in 2003. Clean water is produced from wastewater originating from the Goreangab Dam and the Gammam Reservoir, and is distributed to the city of Windhoek. The treatment process is very complex with a series of filtration (including a number of membrane stages) and ozonation stages.

This is a global benchmark, as around the world clean water is only produced from waste water in Windhoek and Singapore. In particular, reaching clean water standards is difficult in view of the level of pollution that enters.

Africa Horn
Air strikes kill 100 militants in southern Somalia
[SHABELLENEWS] More than 100 al-Shabaab
... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
hard boyz including 20 commanders are believed to have been killed in southern Somalia by U.S. air strikes early Saturday, residents and officials said.

The residents and security officers said the warplanes targeted the bad boys’ hideouts in Wargaduud and El-Adde where several Kenyan soldiers were killed by al-Shabaab hard boyz in January 2016.

Among senior al-Shabaab commanders killed are Abdirahman Fillow and Abdirahman Ben Dutie in the dawn attack that also destroyed two vehicles bound bombs (VBIED) at Wargaduud. Dutie is from Marehanrer Dalal section.

"Yesterday (Friday) night at Wargaduud and El-Adde, U.S. Arclight airstrikes killed 20 al-Shabaab commanders among them Abdirahman Fillow and about 85 bad boys," said a security official who declined to be identified.

"The strike happened at 2 a.m.

"The siege continues," he added.

Residents in El-Adde reported hearing the sound of kabooms believed to be air strikes just after Friday midnight.

"There was heavy bombardment on al-Shabaab base near El-Adde town targeting al-Shabaab base but we don’t know the number of casualties.

"We heard sounds of the jets and then bombs," said one of the residents.

The bombardment came after U.S. military officials confirmed that its soldiers have deployed to Somalia to train and equip Somali and AMISOM forces fighting extremism in Somalia.

The team is reportedly carrying out a train-and-equip mission that is expected to last through the end of September, according to American officials.

The U.S. soldiers will join the small number of U.S. special operations forces already there providing counterterrorism support to local forces battling al-Shabaab.

The U.S. maintains a small force unit of about 50 troops in Somalia mainly to advise and assist Somalia and AMISOM troops battling al-Shabaab bad boys.

Though they are not in Somalia to conduct combat operations, when called in, their helicopters, drones and manned aircraft are available for quick reaction air strikes.

U.S. President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
in March granted additional authority to U.S. Africa Command to conduct counterterrorism Arclight airstrikes against the terror group.

The bombardment came after Kenyan security agents have been put on alert following intelligence reports at least nine Kenyan hard boyz who had joined al-Shabaab terror group in Somalia could be headed back to the country to launch attacks.

The Kenyans are moving back to Kenya following sustained attacks by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) who are part of the AU mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and Somalia National Army (SNA).

Police have urged Kenyans to be wary of the suspects and warned they could be in the country and planning an attack.

Over the past months KDF troops have killed at least 90 al-Shabaab hard boyz in attacks in Somalia, which has reportedly weakened the group’s capability.

Lois Lerner Fears For Her Life, Asks Federal Court To Seal Her Upcoming Deposition Testimony
[TAXPROF.TYPEPAD] Former IRS
...the Internal Revenue Service; that office of the United States government that collects taxes and persecutes the regime's political enemies...
senior executive Lois G. Lerner told a federal court this week that she faces the possibility of death threats if her role in the tax agency’s tea party-targeting becomes public, and asked a judge to forever seal her upcoming deposition in a class-action lawsuit brought by hundreds of groups that were targeted.

Mr. Lerner and Holly Paz, another figure from the IRS tea party targeting, told the judge they’ve already faced "harassment and death threats" before, and said they fear another media firestorm if their version of events from the tea party targeting were to become public.

The two women said they are willing to testify, but said they could be putting "their lives in serious jeopardy."

"Mss. Lerner and Paz have demonstrated that the public dissemination of their deposition testimony would expose them and their families to harassment and a credible risk of violence and physical harm," they said in documents submitted by their lawyer to Judge Michael R. Barrett. ...

The class action lawsuit involves 428 groups who were snared by the IRS targeting procedures. That case, which is being heard in a federal court in Ohio, is in the discovery phase, and Ms. Lerner and Ms. Paz are supposed to give testimony. ...

Meanwhile,
...back at the shouting match, Bart was wondering if fisticuffs would be appropriate at this point...
in Washington, D.C., two cases brought by tea party groups are proceeding. A judge on Wednesday granted limited discovery in those cases, ordering the IRS to detail its past and current approval processes for tax-exempt organizations. Judge Reggie B. Walton also said the groups could depose Tamera L. Ripperda, a former IRS employee who ran the Cincinnati office that processed the applications. The groups also can depose the unnamed IRS employee who currently holds that same post.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran Is Still Using Pseudo-Civilian Airlines to Resupply Assad
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] As the aviation community and international media fixate on recent Boeing and Airbus orders by Iranian airlines, Tehran continues to quietly purchase secondhand aircraft and parts through smaller companies, actively circumventing terrorism-related sanctions against certain airlines and individuals. By combining military and civil aviation components, Iran seeks to bolster its regional airlift capability, but any companies associated with such activity -- even indirectly -- are putting themselves in the crosshairs of U.S. sanctions policy.

The 'Syrian Express' Air Bridge
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force has long used pseudo-civilian resources to help Iran's allies in Syria. In addition to close support from Mahan Air (see next section), the IRGC has set up its own cover airlines and service companies to provide logistical assistance and boost revenue.

The main airline operated by the IRGC and its Pars Aviation Company is Pouya Air. Its predecessors, Pars Air and Yas Air, were designated as terrorist entities in 2012 by the United States, which accused them of transporting weapons to the Syrian regime.

Today, Pouya Air operates six Russian-made transport planes on loan from the IRGC Aerospace Force. The IRGC also recently purchased two Brazilian-made Embraer ERJ-145ER regional jets (registration numbers EP-RAA and EP-RAD), which have a range of about 3,000 kilometers and can carry up to fifty passengers. The first of these jets was registered to South Africa by Hossein Hafez Amini, an Istanbul-based Iranian businessman, and delivered to Pouya Air on March 31. Both jets were subsequently seen at Tehran's Mehrabad Airport still wearing South African registration and "Rey Airlines" livery. The IRGC has close links to the latter airline, apparently a murky front company with a fake website created no more than two years ago. Available records show that Rey was incorporated in South Africa, but its website shows an Istanbul address.

In addition to the revenue generated by passenger flights, the IRGC can also save money by using its aircraft to transport personnel and their families. More important, having its own cargo and passenger fleet allows it to transport operatives or clandestine cargo with minimum observation by civil aviation authorities.

Another IRGC-controlled company recently coming to light is Qeshm Fars Air, which took delivery of two Boeing 747-200F vintage cargo planes from Afghanistan's Kam Air using an Armenian intermediary. It is not clear if Afghan officials knew where the planes would end up. The first of these planes, EP-FAA, was immediately pressed into daily flights between Tehran and Damascus (route numbers QFZ9950 and QFZ9951). The second plane is undergoing maintenance at the Farsco maintenance repair and overhaul center in Tehran. For now, the newly acquired Boeings are said to be operated by Mahan Air.

The air bridge between Iran and Syria has been particularly busy of late, with planes from several civilian and military operators making the trip: Mahan Air (Airbus A300 and A310), Iran Air (Airbus A300 and A320), Iran's national Air Force/Saha Air (Boeing 747F and C-130), the IRGC/Qeshm Fars Air/Pouya Air (Boeing 747 and Il-76), Syrian Air (Il-76), and Cham Wings (A320). The latter company -- a private Syrian airline with scheduled flights between Tehran and Damascus -- was targeted by U.S. sanctions in 2016. Most of the "Syrian Express" flights conducted by these operators are scheduled for nighttime in order to hinder satellite monitoring. Besides the busy Tehran-Damascus route, three airlines (Mahan, Iran Air, and Syrian Air) also visit Abadan Airport intermittently. There, Iraqi Shiite militia forces are bused in from Najaf and Basra to be flown to Damascus.

In all, Iranian and Syrian airlines have hauled about 21,000 passengers between Tehran/Abadan and Damascus in the past two months alone, along with over 5,000 tons of supplies. Very few pilgrims travel to Syria these days, so most of these passengers were military or paramilitary personnel. Almost all of the flights in question are fully chartered by the IRGC and usually unavailable to the general public.

White House Inhabited by Israeli Settlers: PLO Official
They say that like it's a bad thing.
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] A senior member of the Paleostine Liberation Organization (PLO) has denounced the pro-Israeli policy adopted by the administration of US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
, saying the White House is now inhabited by Israeli settlers.

Hanan Ashrawi, a PLO executive committee member, said on Saturday that Israel’s far-right stance dominates the US government.

"We used to say there were settlers in the Israeli coalition borne of the far right that detests Paleostinians, Arabs and Moslems. But today we say there are settlers inside the White House," she said.

Trump’s administration "has adopted the extreme Israeli position to the right of (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu and which supports the settlements," she added.

The remarks came amid reports that a delegation of Paleostinian Authority officials will visit Washington later this month, in preparation for a meeting between Trump and Paleostinian President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas

"The main goal here is to reach understandings that would make the president’s visit a success and that it will come out with positive results that would serve the Paleostinian cause," Paleostinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki said earlier this month.

Cancer with purpose
[DAWN] ACCUSATION is evidence, trial is by ordeal, and the sentence is always death. This is how it went with Mashal Khan and this is how it has been with the countless others who have preceded him. His final words do not matter, it does not matter that he professed his love for the Prophet (PTUI!) as he lay dying from gunshot wounds inflicted by his pious tormentors, all that matters is the accusation and the accusation is evidence.

It doesn’t even matter that his murder seems to have nothing to do with his actual words, that it is likely that it was his vocal stance against the university administration that prompted the campaign against him. It doesn’t even matter that the university administration has displayed its complicity by forming a committee, not to investigate the killing, but to investigate the alleged blasphemy committed by the murdered Mashal Khan.

It doesn’t matter that after his death fake accounts bearing his name have cropped up like poisonous toadstools aiming at providing post-facto justification.

Government
Sweeping change at DOJ under Sessions
[THEHILL] Attorney General Jeff Sessions has brought sweeping change to the Department of Justice.
Good. It desperately needed doing.
In just two months as the nation’s top cop, Sessions has moved quickly to overhaul the policies and priorities set by the B.O. regime.

He has rolled back protections for transgender students that allowed children to use the bathroom that corresponds with their gender identity and rescinded plans to phase out the federal government’s use of private prisons.

He called for a review of reform agreements, known as consent decrees, reached with local police departments to address allegations of misconduct. Many of the consent decrees were drafted in response to fating shootings by police.

Sessions has made immigration enforcement a top priority. Late last month he put "sanctuary" cities on notice, announcing that grant money would be withheld from state and local governments that refuse to cooperate with federal authorities and turn over illegal immigrants colonists enjugged
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
for crimes.

Federal prosecutors have also been alerted to a new national push to crack down on violent crime. Sessions tapped Steven Cook, a federal prosecutor and outspoken opponent of criminal justice reform, to lead the charge as assistant deputy attorney general; he will be leading Sessions’ new Task Force on Crime Reduction and Public Safety.

Alex Whiting, faculty co-director of the Criminal Justice Policy Program at Harvard Law School, said it appears Sessions is resurrecting the tough on crime policies last seen during the George W. Bush administration.

"Obama moved away from that approach, and I think in the criminal justice world there seemed to be a consensus between the right and left that those policies, those rigid policies of the war on drugs and trying to get the highest sentence all the time, had failed," he said.

on Twitter has apologized profusely and taken a temporary leave of absence in some holy man's guesthouse an undisclosed location because he now fears for his personal safety.

The professor, Lars Maischak, composed the tweets around the end of February. The tweets called for Trump to "hang" in order to "save American democracy." "The sooner and the higher, the better." The only "cure" for racist people is a bullet to their head, the tweets also said. Maischak used hashtags including "#TheResistance" and "#DeathToFascism."

Maischak says he now deeply regrets composing and publishing the tweets.

"I ask forgiveness of those who felt threatened or offended by them," Maischak wrote in a statement obtained by the Los Angeles Times. "It was never my intent to harm anyone, nor to encourage others to harm anyone."

"I never expected them to be read by anyone but a close circle of acquaintances who would know to place them in their context," Maischak also said in the Wednesday statement.

He did not intend for the now-deleted Twitter account to be viewed as an "invitation, or endorsement of, violence," he said.

Chadian national killed in east Libya for alleged witchcraft
[Libya Observer] Authorities in Bayda have killed a Chadian national for conducting black magic rites after a series of mysterious suicides plagued the eastern city.

The Internal Security Service killed 25-year-old "Nabil Hassan Jomaa" hours after his detention on Monday on charges of practicing black magic and alleged involvement in the teenagers’ suicides in the city.

More than a dozen teenagers have ended their lives by hanging in less than a month, stirring up controversy over the real reasons behind the suicides. On Sunday, a 9-year-old girl hanged herself to become the latest victim of the mysterious phenomenon.

The suicides have caused panic among local residents. While the main causes remain a mystery, the Interior Ministry of the Interim Government of Abdullah al-Thanni hinted that the "Charlie Charlie" game is behind the teenagers’ self-murder. The ministry labelled the game "Satanic" and warned people about playing it. It also claimed that the game is "a threat to Libya’s national security."

Meanwhile,
...back at the the conspirators' cleverly concealed hideout the long-awaited message arrived. They quickly got to work with their decoder rings...
a man hanged himself in Bab Ben Ghashir district of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
on Saturday, causing fear that the mysterious suicides in Bayda may have moved to the capital. Two suicide cases were also recorded in the southern city of Sabha.

Actions to uncover the mystery of suicides are yet to be taken by state authorities.

Obedi said in a press statement that the Islamic State’s members suddenly withdrew, along with their families, from different areas of Rawa District to al-Qaim District, near Iraqi-Syrian borders, west of Anbar.

Leaders of the terrorist group ordered the fighters to evacuate Rawa, in addition to 17 other locations, due to the intensified air strikes carried out by the Army Aviation, Obeidi added.

Furthermore, Obeidi pointed out that the Islamic State members burned several civilian houses, before withdrawing from the city.

Yemenis Kill 4 Saudi Troops, Attack Military Base
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] Yemeni soldiers and allied fighters killed four Saudi troops in sniper fire in the kingdom’s extreme southwest in retaliation for new attacks on the impoverished nation.

The allied forces bumped off one Saudi trooper at the al-Mo’annaq military outpost in the kingdom’s Jizan region on Saturday, Yemen’s al-Masirah television network reported. Separately, Yemeni sharpshooters killed three more Saudi troops in a blitz against military bases in Najran.

A Saudi military vehicle was also destroyed while traveling in the Midi Desert in Jizan.

Al-Masirah published a video, released by Yemen’s War Media, showing mercenaries fleeing the al-Qavieh base in Jizan on board two vehicles, leaving behind their equipment. A Yemeni army unit then goes there and takes away some of the accoutrements.

ISIS suicide bombing rocks Kurdish village north of Raqqa
[ALMASDARNEWS] Kurdish forces of Evil in the town of Tel-Saman were forced to run for cover on Saturday as an ISIS jacket wallah plunged headlong towards their positions and detonated a vehicle packed with explosives in the northern Raqqa countryside.

The suicide bomber was later identified as Abu Hamam ad-Dar’awi, Amaq Agency said.

Al-Masdar News was not able to obtain information regarding Kurdish casualties from the suicide kaboom. 200 Syrian civilians kidnapped by Al-Qaeda faction amid evacuation deal
[ALMASDARNEWS] Over 200 civilians from Fuah and Kafraya have gone missing in the Rashideen neighborhood after they were supposed to enter government-held Aleppo yesterday. Regrettably, most of the missing people are girls.

According to an al-Masdar News source, the Shi’ite residents from Fuah and Kafraya are believed to have been kidnapped by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), an al-Qaeda affiliated rebel faction which stands accused of killing 126 civilians in a car kaboom yesterday.

An eye witness said HTS lured children to the boom-mobile with sweets and chips, only to detonate a massive bomb that killed 68 kids in scenes too gruesome to describe. al-Qaeda considers Shi’ites to be apostates and deviants from Islam.
