Oberlin College pleads poverty to jury deciding on punitive damages
Yesterday saw the president (salary: over half a million dollars) of Oberlin College (with an endowment of $887.4 million) plead poverty to a jury in Lorrain County, Ohio (median household income: $54,932), urging them not add punitive damages of up to $22 million to the $11 million already awarded to Gibson’s Bakery.

#4  As I previously opined recently, this has the potential to be a watershed moment for outrageous PC professors and campus cultures. Endowments are the holy grail of administrations and a huge award here would serve as a powerful cautionary proof that over the top SJW and PC behavior could cost big bucks. Facing that risk, tenured status would be meaningless. Praying for a huge award to the plaintiffs.

China-Japan-Koreas
Beating China: The New Cold War
Far too often, pundits and politicians alike make the case that America should avoid another cold war, this time with China. There is a problem with this argument. America doesn’t get to choose whether or not to start another cold war.

...China chose to start this cold war; we are already in the middle of it. America doesn’t get a say unless it wants to lie down and lose. It isn’t the same type of cold war, and each side has different objectives, but it is contentious no less.

If America wants to win the Second Cold War, it has to do several broad things, but for one it has first to acknowledge that it is already ongoing.

We have the same problem but we make better stuff cheaper when it comes to first strike capable weapons. In the end, we can win by trading less with them and getting away from the idiotic notion of managed decline as a diplomatic doctrine.

Why Are the Western Middle Classes So Angry?
What is going on with the unending Brexit drama, the aftershocks of Donald Trump's election and the "yellow vests" protests in France? What drives the growing estrangement of southern and eastern Europe from the European Union establishment? What fuels the anti-EU themes of recent European elections and the stunning recent Australian re-election of conservatives?

Put simply, the middle classes are revolting against Western managerial elites. The latter group includes professional politicians, entrenched bureaucrats, condescending academics, corporate phonies and propagandistic journalists.

What are the popular gripes against them?

One, illegal immigration and open borders have led to chaos. Lax immigration policies have taxed social services and fueled multicultural identity politics, often to the benefit of boutique leftist political agendas.

Two, globalization enriched the cosmopolitan elites who found worldwide markets for their various services. New global markets and commerce meant Western nations outsourced, offshored and ignored their own industries and manufacturing (or anything dependent on muscular labor that could be replaced by cheaper workers abroad).

Three, unelected bureaucrats multiplied and vastly increased their power over private citizens. The targeted middle classes lacked the resources to fight back against the royal armies of tenured regulators, planners, auditors, inspectors and adjustors who could not be fired and were never accountable.

Four, the new global media reached billions and indoctrinated rather than reported.

Five, academia became politicized as a shrill agent of cultural transformation rather than focusing on education -- while charging more for less learning.

Six, utopian social planning increased housing, energy and transportation costs.

One common gripe framed all these diverse issues: The wealthy had the means and influence not to be bothered by higher taxes and fees or to avoid them altogether. Not so much the middle classes, who lacked the clout of the virtue-signaling rich and the romance of the distant poor.

In other words, elites never suffered the firsthand consequences of their own ideological fiats.

#4  I wish people would stop calling them 'elite'. It's like putting a label 'extraordinary' on dogshit.

(noun)/ a select group that is superior in terms of ability or qualities to the rest of a group or society.

This is by no means true. Even a cursory examination of their credentials or record of achievements (with actual significance) will reveal that what are being referred to as elites are some mediocre actors, academic poseurs, dabblers not experts in the sciences, snobs with some kind of windfall behind them, riding the momentum of accidental recognition or encashing on the stupidity of the ignorant masses.

#13  Because democracy turned out to be a con.

It's painful, but hard to avoid this conclusion.

Look at what the majority votes for (Brexit, secure borders, sovereignty, not being ruled by freaks) and look at what it's actually gotten.

Trump's win in 2016 is still being re-litigated two and a half years later.

Whatever we've got, you can't call it democracy or republicanism.

It's managed, conditional (if the elites approve of how we vote, they'll actually "honor" the outcome.) mobocracy.

Not a con. Your refusal to acknowledge an oligarchy because you dearly want to believe in democracy is not a con. It's denial on your part.

One of the fatal flaws of the republic was to have an entire branch with life appointments and no real accountability. As with human nature, the aggrandizement of power happened, just took a bit longer than normal.

Another was to engage in being the world's policeman thus concentrating even more power in the Executive than was ever intended. The Constitution was not designed for that.

Conservative Principles Do Not Require Us To Roll Over For Big Tech
We are never going to sell people on allegedly conservative principles that end up making conservatives less free. After all, when we sell conservatism, we are selling freedom, in contrast to the perpetual soul-killing tyranny offered by leftist ideology. So, the idea that conservative principles require us to defer to the growing oppression of the left because it is delivered through the medium of allegedly private corporations is nonsense.

Don’t want none? Don’t start none. That’s one of my conservative principles. The corporations started it, and now it’s our right ‐ our duty ‐ to finish it.

The fussy Bow Tie Boyz of conservatism will tell you that this calls your conservative bona fides into question. Well, question away. If "conservatism" means I have to take guff from some goateed 20-something helming a unicorn start-up who thinks I have way too many rights and way too much privilege because my ancestors came from Stuttgart and I wield a penis, count me out of conservatism. I am utterly indifferent to whether the aspiring dictator who seeks to force me to obey is a government employee or a corporate CEO. Neither is acceptable, meaning I will not accept either.

#1  Everything "big tech" controls only started to exist recently. People somehow managed before the telegraph. Even after it arrived it was scarce in terms of deployment. Same for telephone, radio and TV. Watch some individual (usually a woman of any age except really old) clinging to a cellphone. How did this individual manage to exist before the cellphone? Somehow, we know, or they wouldn't be there right now yapping away. Just because this stuff became widespread in very short order doesn't mean it's any different from the tech advances mentioned above that rolled out more slowly. Whatever comes next will roll out so fast the current tech barons won't even have time to figure out which way to run. Meanwhile, the notion you are cut off if you can't be on farcebook, gurgle, crapple or sh*tter is a notion in your head alone.

Hillary: Circumstances of Trump's America 'more dangerous' than Hitler's Germany
h/t Instapundit
Hillary Clinton warned her audience of the rise of fascism in America during an alumnae event held at Wellesley College.

The former presidential candidate joined former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, both alumnae of the school, on campus for a reunion event at the all-women’s college, according to The Hill. The two were interviewed on stage by Wellesley president Paula A. Johnson. During the interview, Clinton alluded to President Donald Trump as a proponent of a fascist America.

Will Democrats Shut Down The Government To Force Taxpayer Funding Of Abortions?
[The Federalist] Last week, the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer funding of most abortions, became the focus of presidential politics. First Joe Biden said he still supported the amendment, then changed his position one day later, after tremendous political pressure from farther-left Democrats.

But the press should focus less on whether Democrats support taxpayer-funded abortion-on-demand. Virtually all Democrats running for president now support that position, as did the party’s 2016 national platform.

Rhetorically, Democrats sound fully in lockstep with their pro-abortion left. For instance, on Tuesday presidential candidate Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) called a pro-life position "not acceptable," and equated nominating pro-life judges to "appoint[ing] a judge who’s racist or anti-Semitic or homophobic." But with the Hyde Amendment, the real test for Biden, Gillibrand, and their fellow candidates will come in how hard they will push for its repeal.

Thomas Sowell Talks About Discrimination, Race, And Social Justice
[The Federalist] A newly updated version of Thomas Sowell’s book, "Discrimination and Disparities," came out this spring. The author and famed economist sat down with writer David Hogberg to talk about it and his life’s work.

David Hogberg: I want to read to you something that a currently very popular actress by the name of Brie Larson said at a recent awards show. She stated that, "USC Annenberg’s Inclusiveness Initiative released findings that 67 percent of the top critics reviewing the 100 highest grossing movies in 2017 were white males. Less than a quarter were white women and less than 10 percent were unrepresented men. Only 2.5 percent of those top critics were women of color. Now you’re probably thinking right now that ... doesn’t represent the country I live in. And that’s true. This is a huge disconnect from the U.S. population breakdown of 30 percent white men, 30 percent white women, 20 percent men of color, and 20 percent women of color. So, why does that matter? ... If you make a movie that is a love letter to women of color, there is an insanely low chance a woman of color will be able to see your movie and review your movie ... We need to be conscious of our bias and do our part to make sure that everyone is in the room."

That’s an example of the main fallacy that you expose in your book, correct?

Thomas Sowell: It’s one of the many fallacies. My God! We could play the same game with basketball and get even greater skewed representation. Blacks are the vast majority of basketball players in the NBA. That quote is downright silly.

What’s become so frustrating to me over the years is people who assume that if people or events are not evenly represented, then that’s some deviation from the norm. But you can read through reams of what scholars have written and find that nowhere is this norm to be found. You can read people like Gradell and others who have studied internationally various cultural events, and they say again and again that nowhere do they find a distribution of people who is representative of the population of the larger society.

So [people like Larson] are taking something that no one can find and making it a norm, the deviations from which should cause the government to intervene to correct this supposedly rare thing.

Hogberg: What is the "Invincible Fallacy"?

Sowell: It’s what been illustrated by the example you mentioned. It’s the belief that people would be, in the normal course of events, proportionally represented in various endeavors in the way they are represented in the general population. And if that doesn’t happen it must be some kind of negative factor like either genetics or discrimination that is causing the deviation.

Middle East on alert as two oil tankers are hit by explosions and one 'sinks' in suspected 'torpedo attack' in Gulf of Oman
[MAIL] Dramatic pictures have revealed the fireball which erupted on an oil tanker after it was hit by an explosion in the Gulf of Oman today.

The MT Front Altair was one of two ships hit in a pair of blasts which have left the Middle East on high alert.

The tanker suffered three explosions and caught fire after a suspected torpedo attack, although its Norwegian owner has denied Iranian claims that the vessel has sunk.

The Altair and the other ship, the Kokuka Courageous, were evacuated after sending distress signals - picked up by the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet - with 44 sailors rescued.

Britain has urged 'extreme caution' amid high tensions in the Middle East, weeks after four tankers were attacked in a mysterious act of sabotage off the UAE coast which Washington believes was the work of Iran.

And as Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe meets Iran's Supreme Leader today in an effort to defuse the crisis, while Tokyo revealed that the two tankers had been carrying 'Japan-related cargo'.

Mike Flynn Names Mueller Critic Sidney Powell As New Attorney. Will He Withdraw His Guilty Plea?
[Hot Air] "He is going to continue to cooperate with the government, pursuant to his plea agreement," said Powell today in an interview with The Hill about her new client after the news broke. But why would Flynn hire Sidney Powell if he intends to keep cooperating? She’s been harshly anti-Mueller for months and a critic of former Mueller deputy Andrew Weissmann for years, having written an entire book about her experience opposing him in the Enron case. (Powell herself describes Weissmann as the book’s "lead villain.")

She created a website awhile back about Team Mueller called "Creeps on a Mission" in which she accused them of angling "to destabilize and destroy this President" before Mueller ultimately declined to accuse Trump of either conspiracy or obstruction. Both her book and a t-shirt are available for sale at the site.

#2  Flynn is a Democrat who worked on the Trump campaign. I never quite understood that. He hired a lobbying law firm Covington & Burling LLP to represent him. This is Eric Holder's, Lanny Breuer's (Fast and Furious), John Boltons firm. The only reason for Flynn hiring Covington & Burling LLP is that they are well-connected and understand Washington ways. I wondered whether Covington & Burling LLP would well-serve Flynn at the time he hired them. Maybe Sidney Powell will better represent him. She certainly doesn't seem to have much respect for the Mueller proctology probe of Flynn and Trump.

U.S. Attorney John Durham seeks interviews with two CIA officers over Russia investigation origins
[Washington Examiner] The Justice Department intends to interview two CIA officers for its review of the origins of the Russia investigation.

U.S. Attorney John Durham's team wants to talk to at least one senior counterintelligence official and a senior analyst who examined Russia's role in meddling in the 2016 election, according to the New York Times.

Although formal requests have not yet been submitted, CIA Director Gina Haspel informed senior officials that her agency will cooperate, but will work to ensure that sources, methods, and intelligence provided by allies would be protected.

Attorney General William Barr tasked Durham, a U.S. attorney from Connecticut, with leading the inquiry focused on the origins of the counterintelligence investigation into President Trump's campaign, which the FBI began in the summer of 2016.

Economy
The U.S. Military Just Inked a Enormous New F-35 Deal
[Air Force Magazine] The Defense Department and Lockheed Martin have reached a tentative agreement on the next lot of F-35s, with options for a multi-year buy worth about $34 billion for 478 aircraft total, including foreign partners and customers.

The agreement covers production Lot 12, with options for Lots 13 and 14. The first lot will include 157 aircraft, according to a Pentagon statement. The "framework" of the deal would lower the cost of an F-35A to $80 million in Lot 13, a year earlier than initially planned. Under Lot 11, the aircraft cost $89.2 million each.

"This is a historic milestone for the F-35 enterprise, and marks the largest procurement in the history of the department," Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition Ellen Lord said in a statement.

"I am proud to state that this agreement has achieved an estimated 8.8 percent savings from Lot 11 to Lot 12 F-35As," Lord said, as well as an average reduction of 15 percent "across all variants from Lot 11 to Lot 14." The deal "symbolizes my commitment to aggressively reduce F-35 cost, incentivize industry to meet required performance, and to deliver the greatest capabilities to our warfighters at the best value to our taxpayers," she added.

By law, the US cannot enter a multi-year purchase agreement until after a program has entered full-rate production. The US could not participate in the first year of the "block buy," but international partners can, and have already signed up to do so. Block buys or multi-year buys commit the government to buying a designated number of aircraft. Armed with this commitment, the contractor can make more economical buys of materials and components, and more efficiently hire and deploy its workforce.

Science & Technology
Supersonic speeds could cause big problems for the F-35′s (and Chevy Silverado's) stealth coating
[Defense News] WASHINGTON ‐ At extremely high altitudes, the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps’ versions of the F-35 jet can only fly at supersonic speeds for short bursts of time before there is a risk of structural damage and loss of stealth capability, a problem that may make it impossible for the Navy’s F-35C to conduct supersonic intercepts.

The Defense Department does not intend to field a fix for the problem, which influences not only the F-35’s airframe and the low-observable coating that keeps it stealthy, but also the myriad antennas located on the back of the plane that are currently vulnerable to damage, according to documents exclusively obtained by Defense News.

The F-35 Joint Program Office has classified the issues for the "B" and "C" models as separate category 1 deficiencies, indicating in one document that the problem presents a challenge to accomplishing one of the key missions of the fighter jet. In this scale, category 1 represents the most serious type of deficiency.

#1  The problem, of course is the coating, but the story would be it would work just fine on anything but an F-35.
Posted by: M. Murcek || 06/13/2019 7:02 Comments || Top||

#2  Likely not the coating but airframe skin vibration at speed. That would impact the external sensors as well.

Why altitude? Apparently air density at lower altitudes dampens the vibration.

#3  The stealth F150 doesn't manifest the problem because of it's constrained operating velocity.

#4  Hey, now!

#5  Why altitude?

My SWAG: Less atmo pressure so the afterburner cone spreads out faster. On the B, the shorter nozzle (vs A) allows the afterburner stream to overheat/overpressure the coating. On the C, the horizontal tail is longer (vs A) resulting the effect as the B.

The Defense Department does not intend to field a fix for the problem

It only showed one time on the B & C during testing and has not been duplicated but afterburner restrictions remain for now.

https://www.defensenews.com/air/2019/06/12/supersonic-speeds-could-cause-big-problems-for-the-f-35s-stealth-coating/

Vice Adm. Mat Winter, who leads the F-35 program on behalf of the Pentagon, told Defense News that the department has taken steps to mitigate the problem with an improved spray-on coating, but added that the government will not completely fix it — instead accepting additional risk.

As justification for the decision, Winter noted that the issue was documented while the jet was flying at the very edge of its flight envelope. He also said the phenomenon only occurred once for both the B and C models, despite numerous attempts to replicate the conditions that caused the problem.

“How often do we expect something like that to occur?” he said. “It's very, very small.”

Greg Ulmer, Lockheed Martin’s F-35 program head, said there have been no cases of this problem occurring in the operational fleet and that incidents have been limited to the “highest extremes of flight testing conditions that are unlikely replicated in operational scenarios.”

Dem Representative Torres withdraws 'sex-starved males' comment
[Free Beacon] Rep. Norma Torres

...Nasty-mouthed Dem machine congresswoman from Guatamala, by way of Califonia, of all places. Famous, though probably only briefly, for calling her Republican collegues sex-starved males on the floor of the House...

(D., Calif.) on Wednesday withdrew her statement about Republican men who oppose abortion being "sex-starved males."

Torres was speaking in a House debate on a spending bill for the Department of Health and Human Services when she made her comment, prompting Rep. Rob Woodall (R., Ga.) to speak up and ask her if she would like to amend her language. The ad hominem came while she was attempting to argue pro-lifers should stop speaking on the floor.

"Mr. Speaker, it is tiring to hear from so many sex-starved males on this floor talk about a woman's right to choose," Torres said, drawing gasps from people in attendance.

Woodall interjected and asked to be recognized after her statement.

"Mr. Speaker, I would like to ask my friend if she would like to change her last statement," Woodall said

"If it pleases my colleague on the other side, I will withdraw my statement about sex-starved males on the floor," Torres responded.

After her previous statement was officially withdrawn, she began again by talking about how "tiring" it was for women to be counseled on what types of affordable care they should have.

Torres said it was "tiring to be here on this floor or in committee as a woman to continue to be counseled about what types of affordable [care], whether it is family planning conversations, that rightfully I deserve to have with my own doctor, choosing when women want to have a family and to avoid pregnancy," according to the Washington Post.

AWR Hawkins Destroys ‘Silencer Control' Myth (short video)
[Breitbart] After the recent shooting in Virginia Beach, when the shooter was found to have a suppressor on one of his two guns, Breitbart News’ AWR Hawkins is back to debunk the myth that gun suppressors are "silencers."

Good info, poor video. Your results (with a .45 or subsonic ammo) may vary. Take the time to clear your weapon prior to attaching any sound or flash suppressing device.

That said, suppressors are a shiny toy that took too many gun rights people's eyes off the ball.

U.S. Women's Soccer Captain Megan Rapinoe Refuses to Sing National Anthem During World Cup
[Breitbart] U.S. Women’s National Soccer team co-captain Megan Rapinoe refused to sing the national anthem during Tuesday’s World Cup game in France, only six days after the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

Rapinioe stood silent with her arms behind her back as the rest of the U.S. team placed their hands over their hearts and sang the Star-Spangled Banner ahead of Tuesday’s game in Reims, France.

The 33-year-old U.S. star kept a stony demeanor as the rest of her team sang the Star-Spangled Banner in the Auguste-Delaune Stadium.

Rapinoe had already warned that she would "never sing the anthem again."

"I’ll probably never put my hand over my heart. I’ll probably never sing the national anthem again," Rapinoe said in May adding she views herself as "a walking protest when it comes to the Trump administration," because of "everything I stand for."

"I feel like it’s kind of defiance in and of itself to just be who I am and wear the jersey, and represent it," Rapinoe said. "Because I’m as talented as I am, I get to be here, you don’t get to tell me if I can be here or not. So, it’s kind of a good ’F you’ to any sort of inequality or bad sentiments that the [Trump] administration might have towards people who don’t look exactly like him. Which, God help us if we all looked like him. Scary. Really scary. Ahh, disturbing."

[Republic Broadcasting] Let’s follow the trail......

Here’s what it looks like when all the pieces are sewn together. It smells like conspiracy and treason. Everyone needs to read this. Slowly, and patiently, because it’s very important......

From 2001 to 2005 there was an ongoing investigation into the Clinton Foundation.

A Grand Jury had been empanelled. Governments from around the world had donated to the "Charity". Yet, from 2001 to 2003 none of those "Donations" to the Clinton Foundation were declared.

Hmmm, now you would think that an honest investigator would be able to figure this out.

Guess who took over this investigation in 2002? Bet you can’t guess. None other than James Comey. Now, that’s interesting, isn’t it?

Guess who was transferred in to the Internal Revenue Service to run the Tax Exemption Branch of the IRS? Your friend and mine, Lois "Be on The Look Out" (BOLO) Lerner.

Now, that’s interesting, isn’t it? It gets better, well not really, but this is all just a series of strange coincidences, right?

Guess who ran the Tax Division inside the Department of Injustice from 2001 to 2005? No other than the Assistant Attorney General of the United States, Rod Rosenstein.

Now, that’s interesting, isn’t it? Guess who was the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation during this time frame?

I know, it’s a miracle, just a coincidence, just an anomaly in statistics and chances, but it was Robert Mueller.

All of those misstatements and misrepresentations appeared in just the first few sentences of the “FBI Corruption … Decades in a Nutshell” commentary. It’s clear that its claims are misleading, and in some cases outright false. We’re not going to bother fact-checking the rest of it. Given that many of the details are rooted in fact but are presented inaccurately, we’re calling this commentary “misleading.”

IAF strikes underground Hamas targets after Palestinians fire rocket into Israel
[IsraelTimes] Israeli aircraft hit Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, underground facilities in the Gazoo Strip early Thursday after a rocket fired at southern Israel was shot down in the first such attack since Israel and terror groups in the coastal enclave fought a vicious two-day battle last month.

The IDF said fighter jets bombed "underground terror infrastructure on a base belonging to the Hamas terror group in the southern Gazoo Strip."

It said the strikes came in response to the rocket that was fired at Israel earlier in the night, noting that Israel holds Hamas responsible for all violence emanating from the Strip.

Earlier in the night the Israeli military said it shot down a rocket from Gazoo heading toward southern Israel shortly after midnight Wednesday.

The incoming projectile triggered sirens in the community of Nirim in the Eshkol region, east of Gazoo, at approximately 12:15 a.m. on Thursday. Residents of the area reported hearing sounds of kabooms.

"One launch was detected from the Gazoo Strip toward Israeli territory. It was intercepted by Iron Dome soldiers," the army said in a statement, referring to the air defense system.

Residents said the rocket caused no injuries or damage.

"There were no impacts inside a community. Searches are being conducted in the area," an Eshkol spokesperson said in a statement.

The attack came hours after Israel announced it was imposing a full naval closure of the Gazoo Strip, not allowing local fisherman access to the sea, in response to the wave of arson and explosive attacks from the coastal enclave throughout the day.

At least six fires in southern Israel were blamed on incendiary balloons launched from the Strip, and another balloon with a bomb attached to it went kaboom! over an Israeli town. There were no reports of injuries. The arson attacks caused significant damage to area farmland.

"Due to the continued fires and flying of incendiary balloons from the Gazoo Strip, it was decided this evening to impose a naval closure on the Strip until further notice," the Defense Ministry’s liaison to the Paleostinians said in a statement.

The arson attacks appear to be a violation of an unofficial ceasefire reached in early May between Israel and Gazoo’s Hamas rulers that ended two days of intense fighting between the Israeli military and Paleostinian terror groups.

Narsingdi man kills woman, rapes corpse
[Dhaka Tribune] Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested a man for killing a young woman and having intercourse with her dead body in Narsingdi.

Police recovered the body of Sabina Aktar, 21, from a banana field in Kazir Char village of Shibpur upazila on Saturday, two days after she went missing.

Her body was subsequently sent for an appointment with Dr. Quincy at Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, which revealed the signs of post-death intercourse, said police sources.

A special team of RAB, pinpointing the victim’s mobile phone, located and arrested the prime suspect, Saiful Islam, 28, from the upazila’s College Gate area on Tuesday night.

RAB 11 Captain Lt Col Kazi Shamsher Uddin disclosed the development at a press briefing in Narsingdi Press Club on Wednesday.

During an investigation into the woman's suspicious death, RAB interrogated Saiful, who reportedly confessed to committing the crime and disclosed details.

According to his confession, Saiful, after divorcing his first wife, had two children with his second wife.

However,
the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits...
after meeting Sabina, he concealed being a father and seduced her with a promise of marriage.

During their relationship, Saiful apparently tried several times to have sexual relations with Sabina, but she declined.

On Thursday, the couple met and decided to get married. On their way to a relative’s house, Saiful lured Sabina to a deserted banana field and tried to rape her. But, as she started screaming, Saiful suffocated her with his shirt and killed her. Then in a heinous act, he raped Sabina’s corpse and left it there.

He took Sabina’s mobile phone and purse in an attempt to destroy traces of evidence.

Following his confession, RAB, recovered the phone, purse and the shirt used to choke the victim.

Mysterious Blazes on Six Iranian Ships in Iranian Ports
[JCPA] As the strategic port of Shahid Rajaee, north of the Strait of Hormuz, was still dealing with the effects of a huge fire that caused serious destruction, Iranian media reported that six Iranian ships were ablaze in several ports in the southern part of the country.

The Iranian Republic News Agency reported that on June 7, 2019, four merchant ships caught fire in the port of Nakhl Taqi (Taghi) in the Asaluyeh region of Bushehr Province. Three ships were burned entirely, while two others in Asaluyeh suffered major damage. While the governor of Asaluyeh claimed the fires were extinguished without anyone harmed, the head of the emergency rooms in Bushehr Province said that several civilians and sailors had been injured and brought to hospitals in the region. The mayor of the town of Delvar, near the port of Bualhir, confirmed that one vessel in the port burned completely.

Venezuela: hyperinflation leads to new banknotes for second time in a year

Israel scrambles jets as drone from Lebanon enters Israeli airspace, turns back
[IsraelTimes] Military says aircraft was under Israeli military surveillance the entire time; aerial infiltration follows reports of Israeli strike on Hezbollah site in Syria.

A small drone penetrated Israeli airspace from Leb on Wednesday afternoon, the army said, prompting the air force to scramble fighter jets.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, the aircraft quickly returned to Lebanese territory.

"Moments ago, IDF troops spotted a drone from Lebanese territory that entered the airspace of the State of Israel and then returned to Lebanese territory. The drone was tracked by the troops," the army said in a statement.

The incident came hours after Israel reportedly targeted sites in Syria controlled by the Lebanese Hezbollah terrorist group.

The Iranian ally Hezbollah maintains a significant presence in southern Leb, despite a United Nations

resolution meant to keep it out of the area.

According to Syrian and Lebanese reports, the target of the predawn strike by Israel was infrastructure set up by Hezbollah in the area of Tel al-Harra in recent months, following Syrian dictator Bashir al-Assad’s conquering of the area last summer.

Two Shaboobs surrender to KDF in Gedo
[RADIOSHABELLE] Two al-Shabaab
...... the personification of Somali state failure...
Death Eaters on Wednesday surrendered to Kenya Defense Forces at the notorious Gedo region in Somalia, few miles from Kenyan border, it has emerged.

Interestingly, the incident takes place four days after intelligence reports from NIS indicated that over 40 Death Eaters had crossed to Kenya from Somalia and are planning a retaliation on Kenyan soil.

According to the reports, the Death Eaters had given an ultimatum to have their weapons returned after being confiscated by Kenya security forces at Dawaduba last week.

Intelligence report shared on Thursday showed that the al-Shabaab Death Eaters had crossed into Mandera County’s Lafey area.

"Unconfirmed reports indicate that the bully boy group has given an ultimatum that they want weapons recovered from them in Dawaduba returned within the next 24hrs or they will vent their anger on the local community within Lafey sub- county," reads the report.

The two could be resourceful since they have connections to al-Shabaab detention camps and intelligence. It’s in Gedo region near El-Adde that two Cuban doctors who were kidnapped in Mandera are being held.

Last month, elders from Mandera said the Death Eaters had asked for Sh150 million ransom but the Kenya government maintained that it does not negotiate with al-Shabaab.

Sri Lanka
Easter bombers on Sri Lanka payroll: Muslim leader
[DAWN] The bully boyz behind Sri Lanka's deadly Easter bombings received funding from state intelligence services, a top Moslem leader told a parliamentary investigation.

The comments by Azath Salley, who quit last week as governor of Western Province, added to evidence of massive security failings before the April 21 attacks that killed 258 people.

The bombings were led by Zahran Hashim, a radical who broke from the Sri Lanka Thowheeth Jama'ath (SLTJ) to form an holy warrior group, the National Thowheeth Jama'ath (NTJ).

Salley told the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) that he repeatedly told President Maithripala Sirisena to take action against the group.

"The defence ministry paid the Thowheeth Jama'ath. The police worked closely with the Thowheeth Jama'ath," Salley said, according to a transcript of his remarks.

Salley said the former government of Mahinda Rajapakse in office until 2015 funded Thowheeth Jama'ath through military intelligence, a practice continued by the new administration.

Salley said that the funding was to spy on other groups.

Salley also said that a week before the attacks, he met with top defence officials to warn them about the activities of the Lions of Islam and impending dangers.

"If the police had taken action on the information I provided at the time, we would have been able to avoid this disaster," he said.

The PSC has already heard from several top defence and police officials that the authorities failed to implement an effective security plan even after receiving precise warnings of an impending attack.

Sirisena sacked his national intelligence chief Sisira Mendis after he told the PSC that the attacks could have been averted.

Mendis also said the president had failed to hold regular security meetings to assess the threat from such radicals.

#1  This is bullshit. The rogue islamist governor is so desperate,he's making up a retarded yarn. A number of his kind were booted out because they had links with the terror outfit.

Here's some context :

Mohamed Azath Sanoon Salley, 55, former mayor of colombo and disgraced ex-governor of western province. He is also the founder of the National Unity Front, an Islamic political party. He visited the UAE (!) frequently and worked with the UAE high commission for something to do with Ramadan. Again, a front for funding and recruitment activity.

Most interestingly, (Mohamed) Salley has aready been arrested in 2013 for... ding ! Inciting extremist activity among muslim youth. Jailed under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, he claimed that the State of Srilanka was hostile toward muslims, and muslims had the right to revolt.

Srisena made him Governor of the western province because he felt it would be good appeasement for the muslims living there. Salley repeatedly intervened in criminal proceedings against common muslim criminals and worked to have terrorists released without interrogation throughout his term. Most of his 'wards' were members of the Thowheeth Jama'ath. And there is one Jama'ath. Everywhere, one Jama'ath is all it takes. The splinter groups and factions with little nomenclature changes are just facades and mirror work. Remember, one Jama'ath, wherever you hear the term.

"There is only one." - Max von Sydow, Exorcist('73)

When Indian MI alerted their administration, the stupid Srisena refused to listen only because of the liberal left had created an image of the incumbent Indian govt. as a hindu extremist 'islamophobic' administration, seeking to convert neighboring countries to it's idealogy. Nepal too had distanced itself from India for the same reason. Besides, these nations are poor and the leadership is prone to bribes from China and the Gulf. I digress.

The defence ministry of SL is under the President himself. There is no way a President paid and supported a minority group that he foolishly appeases only to keep docile; to bomb churches, kill christians, wealthy foreigners, destroy tourism (their one bloody earner) and peace in his own fucking administration.

This issue identifies and clearly presents a likely scenario that is straight from the islamist expansion script. To infiltrate the administrations, legislatures and service departments of free nations and bring them to ruin. If anything, the people of the west should look upon it and decide if they want muslim appeasers in office, similar Jama'aths and CAIRs and Brotherhoods in their midst. Because hey, this is exactly what happens.

PS: Fred, you could also look at the The Diplomat if information untouched by moslem hands is what you want. Indian news like HT and the Times is just more liberal shit, most Indian journalists are muzzled copy-pasters of jingo rhetoric. I find The Diplomat is excellent for terse, analytical articles. As for news, Dawn does gives us a straight perspective from 'the bad-guy' itself. Besides, reading the DAWN sections curated here is a actually better than reading the depressing rag by itself, so thanks.

#6  Here's more. The first Jamaath in Asia was the Tablighi Jamaat, seeking to restore 'virtue among muslims who had long been under rule of the white devils'. The Jamaat-e-Islami, a political statement of islam+statehood came in 1941, when Syed Abul Ala Maududi a particularly nasty, plodding individual first incited local clerics to froth at the mouth preaching for an Islamic State - what is known today as The 'Stain. From the JEM grew the idea of Pan-Islamism, headquartered in Islamabad(yeah !) The idea of the Hadiths as the constitution and unwashed syphilitic clerics as adjudicators of national issues and policymakers first originated with the JEM. Achieving an islamic state they said was the first step, next came the re-conquest of India and its transformation to Dar-e-Islam (abode of islam).

All the successive Jamaaths are descended from this wretched thing. In B'desh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc. They had to change their names so many times that it became impossible for new administrations and even interpol to keep track of who fights for who and what is based where. Resulting in the west's inability to successfully identify what exact part and faction of islam is the one posing the main dangers. In france, the US, britain - can you believe many legislators and even immigrant families would never have been allowed to step into countries if they knew what ideology they belonged to and who their allegiances lay with. Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad (Jordanian jihadis) under Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, which allied with Bin Laden, provided necessary training to units that came to be called Al-Qaeda. It's affiliates are a flourishing community in the middle of New Jersey. Islamberg in NY is alligned with the Jamaat al-Fuqraa , also calling themselves the Muslims of America (MOA) organization and under different nomenclatures in different places, it's members have been previously convicted of terror charges.

#7  We’ve got some of that in the archives, Dron66046. Let me see what Fred’s cute little auto-translate provides, in no particular order:

Tablighi Jamaat
A peaceful group of itinerant Deobandi preachers who form one of al-Qaeda's recruiting arms...

Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...

Jamaat ul Fuqra isn’t an auto-translate item, but the archives have articles in the subject going back to 2005 — see here.

But absolutely the one thing has become very clear over the years: regardless of sworn allegiance to this or that jihadi organization, individual and group loyalties are as easily changed as a triple-talaq divorce, even when personnel aren’t overtly loaned from one to the other.

Iraqi man with kippah and knives stopped at entrance to Antwerp synagogue
A tale much stranger than it first appears.
[IsraelNews] Guards suspected the man, who claimed to be Jewish, was not a member of the community; police detain him for questioning.

A non-Jewish Arab man wearing a kippah and carrying several concealed knives was intercepted by guards as he attempted to enter an Antwerp synagogue.

The 34-year-old Iraqi citizen was questioned by guards when he tried to enter the Romi Goldmuntz Synagoge in the Belgian city on Monday, during the holiday of Shavuot, the Joodse Actueel newspaper reported Tuesday. The man said he spoke neither Hebrew nor Yiddish but insisted he was a member of the city’s Jewish community, the report said, citing police sources.

The guards ‐ members of the community’s Shmira security service ‐ had approached the man with some suspicion because they saw him arrive on a bicycle, a means of transportation that few observant Jews in Antwerp use on Jewish holidays.

The man did speak good Phlegmish, the report said. The guards called police, who detained the man for questioning.

"He came in wearing a hat and a kippah and pretended to be Jewish, but it was immediately clear to us he did not belong to the Jewish community," one guard, who was not named, told Joods Actueel.

Attempts to gain access to synagogues, which are restricted to worshipers for security reasons, are common in Antwerp. But such attempts by men carrying knives are extremely rare.

Still, the incident may not have been an attempted attack, Joods Actueel wrote. The knives he carried were small, not much larger than the blade of a pocket knife, and the man seemed not entirely focused, the report said.

Special court rejects Musharraf's plea to adjourn high treason case
[DAWN] A special court in Islamabad on Wednesday rejected former military dictator Pervez Perv Musharraf
... former dictator of Pakistain, who was less dictatorial and corrupt than any Pak civilian government to date ...
's plea for adjournment of the hearing of a high treason case against him.

A three-judge bench headed by Justice Tahira Safdar also cancelled retired Gen Musharraf's right of defence due to his repeated non-appearance before the court.

Musharraf is facing a treason trial under Article 6 of the Constitution as well as Section 2 of the High Treason Act on a complaint moved by the federal government.

During the proceedings, Musharraf's lawyer Salman Safdar said that the former military dictator was "fighting for his life", adding that he was not physically or mentally capable of returning the country.

Musharraf's counsel said that he was embarrassed by repeatedly submitting requests to adjourn the case's hearing.

He said that his client was rapidly losing weight, adding that he was unable to walk and used a wheelchair.

Safdar asked for one more chance so that Musharraf could himself appear in court.

He said that the former military dictator was having "heart chemotherapy" because of which his health had deteriorated.
Sounds like fahsinosis of the blowhole. He might no be long for this world, maybe not for any other.
Justice Safdar remarked that the Supreme Court had given a verdict, to which the lawyer responded that he was aware of this and requested that the plea be accepted on the basis of compassion.

US House oversight panel backs contempt vote in census dispute
[Al Jazeera] A United States House committee voted on Wednesday to hold two top Trump administration officials in contempt of Congress for failing to comply with subpoenas for documents related to a decision adding a citizenship question to the 2020 census.

The Democratic-controlled House Oversight Committee voted 24-15 to advance contempt measures against Attorney General William Barr and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross. The vote sends the measures to the full House.

The committee's action marks an escalation of Democratic efforts to use their House majority to aggressively investigate the inner workings of the Trump administration.

The White House asserted executive privilege on the matter earlier Wednesday.

The Justice Department said officials had "engaged in good-faith efforts" to satisfy the committee's oversight needs and labelled the planned contempt vote "unnecessary and premature".

Democrats fear the citizenship question will reduce census participation in immigrant-heavy communities and result in a severe undercount of minority voters. They say they want specific documents to determine why Ross added the question to the 2020 census and contend the administration has declined to provide the documents despite repeated requests.

The administration has turned over more than 17,000 of pages of documents and Ross testified for nearly seven hours in March. The Justice Department said two bigwigs were interviewed by committee staff and said officials were working to produce tens of thousands of additional pages of relevant documents.

The oversight panel's chairman, Elijah Cummings
...Representative-for-life from Maryland, representing half of Baltimore City, which makes his district ultra-safe, and most of Howard County, which is out-populated by the city. His shiny pate is the reason we pronounce the city name Baldymore. Cummings' politix are so liberal they're tedious, nor is he any more honest than the next seedy professional pol...
, disputed the Justice Department's account and said most of the documents turned over to the committee had already been made public.

Iraq
Yazidi woman details her captivity, escape from ISIS
[Rudaw] A young Yazidi woman who was rescued on May 30 by joint Iraqi Special Forces- Coalition during air raids in Anbar desert, has given details on her capture and escape.

Hwayda Ilyas, now 19 years old, was held under the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) for five years, and sold into sexual slavery 12 times. Her captors moved her from Baaj, to djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, to Tel Afar, and Raqqah among other places, far from her homeland of Shingal.

Hwayda told Rudaw on June 8, that she had been brought to Anbar from Dashisha, in the southeast of Syria’s Hasakah province, trekking on foot through the vast desert.

"We remained there for nine months. Then there was an American and Federal Police air-borne raid," said Hwayda.

Hwayda was kidnapped alongside thousands of Yezidi women and kiddies as ISIS overran the Yezidi homeland in 2014.

Some 6,417 Yezidis were kidnapped by ISIS in 2014 as it swept across northern Iraq. Many Yezidi women endured years of sexual slavery.

Ministry of Interior spokesperson Saad Maan confirmed that Hwayda had been rescued by the Intelligence Directorate of the Federal Police in an interview conducted with her after her rescue.

Hwayda was captured by ISIS alongside her aunt, brothers and mother "while on the road to Duhok," Hwayda told Maan. They were then taken to Baaj, a small town in Nineveh close to the Syrian border.

For fear of being killed, she converted to Islam.

She was later taken to Mosul and placed in a room of unmarried girls.

She told that captor that she didn’t want to get married. He beat her and told her she would go with him.

She insisted on being taken back to her mother. Instead, she was taken to a family in Tel Afar, where she stay for four months.

There, she was raped by a member of the family, named Abu Jabir. "They raped me because I didn't want to be married into the family", Hwayda said.

She was last held captive by a man named Abu Obeida, who headed ISIS treks on foot into the Anbar desert.

Visible scars on her body trace the torture she endured under ISIS custody.

"They injured me here [on my forehead] after I did not accept them raping me. They tied my hands up," said Hwayda. Having forgotten her mother tongue of Kurdish, she spoke to Rudaw in Arabic.

Hwayda’s return has eased the pain of her mother, Shirin Khidir, three of whose sons are still missing.

She hadn’t seen her daughter for five years. She told Rudaw that news of Hwayda’s rescue "was like a dream".

"I had no news of her for five years and hadn’t seen her since then. We didn’t know where she had been taken to," Shirin told Rudaw.

According to the most recent data from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG)’s Yezidi Affairs Office, the fate of 2,992 Yezidis is still unknown.

Six Abu Sayyaf militants nabbed in separate operations
[Yahoo] The Philippine National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) presented to the media on June 11 six Abu Sayyaf militants who were arrested in separate operations last month. The NBI said that the six were arrested in Taguig City, Balanga City in Bataan, and Zamboanga City on May 16 and 20.

NBI spokesman Ferdinand Lavin said, "The six arrested were involved in various terrorist activities, ranging from ambush, kidnap for ransom, bombing in southern Philippines, and recruitment of other members.”

He added that the arrest stemmed from intelligence reports that have led them to the whereabouts of Azmier Maalum in Taguig City. The joint operation nabbed Maalum, along with Amar Assan, Musa Tahil Sampang, Jamil Ibrahim, Yong Aming, and Majuk Tahil Amil.

Maalum has several warrants for eight counts of kidnapping and serious illegal detention of Golden Harvest plantation workers in Basilan in 2001, while Sampang was involved in several bombing incidents also in Basilan.

The NBI said the six had been recruiting members in Metro Manila.

Anti-Semitic graffiti found at home of Muslim victim of Toulouse killer
In which h8ters hate stupidly.
[IsraelTimes] Mother of soldier murdered by terrorist Mohammed Merah before deadly shooting at Jewish school in 2012 finds ’Your time is coming soon, dirty Jew’ daubed on house.

The home of the mother of a Moslem victim of the jihadist killer Mohammed Merah
...the Algerian-French "lone wolf" who trained in Pakistan with Jund al-Khilafah (Army of the Caliph), linked to a Belgian jihadi network and Al Qaeda in North Africa. Quite possibly Md. was a French informant before going on an 8-day killing spree that ended with his dramatic death in a shootout with French police. His elder brother, Abdelkader Merah got 30 years in French prison for aiding and abetting, while sister Souad and her four lion cubs fled to ISIS in Syria after Md. got himself killed...
from Toulouse
...lies on the banks of the River Garonne, half-way between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The Toulouse metropolitan area is the fourth-largest in La Belle France...
was spray painted with anti-Semitic threats.

Latifa Ibn Ziaten, whose son, Imad, was murdered in 2012, discovered the graffiti Monday, she wrote on Twitter.

One graffito, written in misspelled French, read: "Jew, soon dead." Another said: "Your time is coming soon, dirty Jew." A third read: "Long live Merah."

Merah murdered Imad Ibn Ziaten, a soldier in the French army, days before he killed a teacher, Rabbi Jonathan Sandler, and two of his children, Arie and Gabriel, ages 6 and 3, and Miriam Monsonego, 8, at the Otzar Hatorah school in Toulouse.

Latifa Ibn Ziaten has campaigned with French Jews against anti-Semitism.
A woman as brave as her son.
She has traveled to Israel in the framework of her activism against anti-Semitism and hatred, and spoke at a convention of the CRIF umbrella group of French Jews of her indignation when she hears young Moslems speak of Merah as a martyr.

"I can’t believe my ears and I tell myself this is simply not possible in the La Belle France I know," she said in 2014.

Dem Marsha Fudge shouts at GOP rep after being scolded for bashing Trump
[BIZPACREVIEW] Blinded by righteous indignation and hatred of President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
, Democrats treat rules and protocol as mere inconveniences when it comes to attacking Trump.

All of which made for an interesting exchange on the House floor Tuesday when a Republican member clashed with a colleague from across the aisle.

In an apparent effort to skirt the rules, Rep. Marcia Fudge
...Dem Congresswoman for Ohio's 11th congressional district since 2008. She won a special election to succeed Stephanie Tubbs Jones, who gave up her office when carried out feet first. The strangely-shaped, but really not gerrymandered, district includes most of the black-majority areas between Cleveland and Akron. Fudge was Chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus in the 113th Congress...
, D-Ohio, read an alleged constituent letter that described the president as a "mobster, a con man, a gangster" and said he was "sexually condescending to women."

After Fudge read the entire letter, the presiding officer on the House floor, Rep. Marc Veasey, D-Texas, informed the Democrat that she couldn’t read other people’s words attacking the president that would be "improper" if a member spoke them.

"The chair will remind members that remarks and debate may not engage in personalities towards the president, including by repeating remarks made elsewhere that would be improper if spoken in the members own words," Veasy said, according to Fox News.

Rep. Larry Bucshon, R-Ind., was set to be recognized next, but was forced to wait as an indigent Fudge began questioning Veasey from the side over his rebuke.

"Are we in order here, or what are we doing?" Bucshon asked.

"I’m talking to the speaker," Fudge shot back, oblivious to proper order.

"No, you are out-of-order," Bucshon replied.

Veasey called for the House to be in order and Bucshon again told Fudge as she was returning to her seat, "You’re out of order."

"And so are you," Fudge said, as she quickly whirled about to fire back.

As for the hateful letter, Fudge said it was from Ronald S. Williams, senior pastor and chief executive officer of Mount Zion Fellowship in Ohio.

The pastor attacked those who support Trump as "racist, steeped in religious views, ignorant or just plain dumb." The Republican Party was called a "Trump cult" and Democrats were admonished for not impeaching the "dictator" in the White House.

He even attacked a fellow pastor’s wife for supporting Trump, his angst coming from the disappointment of the president not being impeached.

"Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi
Congresswoman-for-Life from the San Francisco Bay Area, born into a family of professional politicians. On-again-off-again Speaker of the House. It's not her fault when they lose, but it's her accomplishment when they win. Noted for her heavily botoxed grimace and occasional senior... uhhh... moments...
is a woman who I respect, however I do believe her hesitancy to impeach this president is her opinion based upon polls and her belief that it would further polarize the country," Fudge read from the letter. "However,
denial ain't just a river in Egypt...
the country is already divided and polarized."

"It is glaringly apparent that many support the president administration are either racist, steep in racist religious beliefs, ignorant, or as my mother used to say, just plain dumb," she continued reading.

"They have chosen to support a president who has a proven record of being sexually condescending to women, will not oppose the resurgence of the Ku Klux Klan and other hate organizations, is indecisive, condescending to anyone who challenges him, and hides behind his Twitter account rather than dealing with the real issues in our country and around the world," Fudge added.

Altaf Hussain released on bail by police in London
[DAWN] Muttahida Qaumi Movement
...English: United National Movement, generally known as MQM, is the 3rd largest political party and the largest secular political party in Pakistain with particular strength in Sindh. From 1992 to 1999, the MQM was the target of the Pak Army's Operation Cleanup leaving thousands of Urdu speaking civilians dead...
(MQM) founder the increasingly rotund Altaf Hussain
...The head of MQM in Pakistain, who has lived in London and hasn't laid eyes on Pakistain since Caesar made corporal. Judging from the size of him, he may be a Hutt...
was released on bail on Wednesday after remaining in the custody of the London Metropolitan Police for a day.

The Met Police announced Hussain's arrest on Tuesday, saying that an MQM-linked man in his 60s had been arrested in northwest London on suspicion of intentionally encouraging or assisting offences contrary to Section 44 of the Serious Crime Act 2007.

A statement by the Met Police today, without naming Hussain, said that "a man [...] associated with the MQM in Pakistain has today, Wednesday, 12 June been bailed to return to a cop shoppe in mid-July".

"As part of the investigation, officers carried out a search at the north west London address and at a separate commercial address in north west London. Both these searches are now complete," the Met police said in their statement.

"The investigation, which is being led by officers from the Met's Counter Terrorism Command, is focused on a speech broadcast in August 2016 by an individual associated with the MQM movement in Pakistain as well as other speeches previously broadcast by the same person," the statement added.

The Met Police also said that officers have been "liaising with Pak authorities in relation to [their] ongoing enquiries" and that the investigation shall continue.

Police officials told DawnNewsTV that Hussain had been released due to "insufficient evidence to charge him with a crime". Sources within the party also confirmed the development.

said the early morning attack proved Tehran's support for what it called cross-border terrorism.

A coalition statement said a projectile hit the arrivals hall at Abha airport, causing material damage. Three women and two children were among the maimed, who were of Saudi, Yemeni and Indian nationalities, it said.

The Houthis said on their media channels that they had fired a cruise missile at Abha airport, which is about 200 km (125 miles) north of the Yemen border and serves domestic and regional routes.

Saudi Arabia's civil aviation body told Rooters air traffic was currently running normally at the airport. The Houthi media centre said the strike destroyed the control tower. The coalition's front man did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Rooters could not independently verify the claim.

Mali: Governor sacked after village massacre
[Al Jazeera] The Malian government on Wednesday sacked the governor of the central Mopti region following a village massacre in which dozens of people died, amid reports of renewed fighting between ethnic tribes.

Three days of national mourning would also be held "in homage to the victims of the terrorist attack perpetrated on June 10, 2019 against the population of Sobane Da village," President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita said in a statement read out on public television.

"Drawing lessons from this tragedy, the cabinet had dismissed Mopti's regional governor," General Sidi Alassane Toure added in the statement.

Twenty-four of the dead were children, the government said earlier in a statement which added that six people were tossed into the calaboose "following routine checks".

Fresh fighting believed to be between the Fulani
... a peculiarly brutal tribe of Moslem herdsmen infesting Mali, Niger, Nigeria, and probably other places that are light on law and order and heavy on tribal identity...
and Dogon ethnic groups risks plunging the country deeper into a cycle of intercommunal violence.

Gunmen on Wednesday targeted two ethnic Dogon villages in the Bankass district of the Mopti region, according to the mayor of the area.

France’s Marine Le Pen to go on trial for tweets showing IS atrocities

Iraq
Bombs hit Kurdistan Region’s Duhok-Amedi road, no casualties
[Rudaw] Bombs hit the main Duhok-Amedi road on Wednesday afternoon, temporarily halting traffic amid ongoing festivities between The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor...
and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

"The bombing did not cause human losses," Ismael Mustafa, the mayor of Amedi, told Rudaw.

Ismael said that an additional two bombs hit the same road in nearby Sargale village and Kane township, both in the Amedi district.

"The main drinking water pipe of the Deraluk Project that extends to the towns of Bamarne and Sarsang was blown up", said Ismael. "Now maintenance teams are trying to fix it".

He added two civilian vehicles on the road were damaged.

According to photos obtained by Rudaw, a petrol station near the road was also damaged.

Local Rudaw news hounds said the bombing by the Ottoman Turkish military was about 1 kilometer from the center of Amedi and 50 meters from the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s (KDP) main office in the town.

The KDP’s head of office in Amedi confirmed with Rudaw English that the strikes hit about 50 meters from their location, "but fortunately no one was hurt."

"We are calling on the PKK to avoid these populated areas so such incidents don’t occur," said Omer Uri, the head of the KDP office in Amedi.

He added there have been other strikes recently against PKK positions in the area.

The Ottoman Turkish Ministry of Defense acknowledged in a tweet that it targeted areas in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq with Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s on Wednesday morning.

As part of Operation Claw, Ottoman Turkish forces targeted "terrorist organization positions, depots, and hideouts in Zap, Metina and Gara", the ministry announced.

The areas are close to Amedi, a town and a district, about 70 kilometers north of the Kurdistan Region’s capital of Erbil city.

The strikes signal a possible dangerous escalation.

In the past few years, primarily rural areas were targeted. However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
the areas hit in the most recent attacks lie just outside urban centers, raising the risk for civilians who worry of being caught in crossfire of the conflict.

Turkey launched Operation Claw on May 27, targeting PKK positions inside the Kurdistan Region.

The operation is utilizing airplanes, helicopters, artillery, and ground forces.

Turkey regularly carries out airstrikes and military offensives against alleged PKK positions in the Kurdistan Region.

The PKK, a banned political party in Turkey, is headquartered in the mountains of Qandil in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq near the borders of Turkey and Iran.

China-Japan-Koreas
Taiwan prepares for over-the-horizon attacks
The Taiwanese army has shifted the focus of its annual anti-Chinese invasion drill from thwarting possible beach landings by the People’s Liberation Army and setting up beachheads to combating over-the-horizon strikes.

Taiwanese papers reported that almost all of the island’s advanced weapons systems would be featured and tested in a large-scale anti-landing drill in southern Pingtung county, with all branches of the military involved in the annual Han Kuang anti-invasion exercises.

The air-sea war-game in Pingtung mocks a PLA amphibious invasion with air support. The first stage of the drill last week saw the deployment of F-16 fighter jets, plus Apache and Cobra helicopters, Knox-class frigates, as well as the Thunderbolt-2000, a multiple-launch rocket system developed with the island’s indigenous talent.

A number of all-female squads equipped with self-propelled guns were among the 1,000 troops that took part in the Pingtung chapter of the Han Kuang exercise.

A Defense Ministry official told Taiwan’s Central News Agency that over the past few decades the drill has focused on fending off beach landings by the PLA from across the Taiwan Strait. But, that emphasis has now been broadened because China has prioritized naval and airforce expeditionary tactics plus over-the-horizon amphibious assault capabilities that now pose a greater threat along Taiwan’s entire coastline.

He said the navy and air force would get a boost in the overall defense budget, and one example was Taiwan’s bid to procure more than 60 F-16V fighters from Lockheed Martin, a deal under review by the Pentagon and the US State Department.
The J-20 is again set to grab much attention at the upcoming Zhuhai Airshow. Photo: Weibo
The PLA has a small squadron of J-20 jets in service. Photo: Weibo

The PLA’s ace stealth fighter, the J-20, and the Russian-made S-400 surface-to-air missiles sent to China recently have been identified by the Taiwanese military as assets that would be most detrimental to the self-governed island.

The jet fighter and missiles will feature in the mock battle in the Han Kuang exercise, and more drills will be conducted off the island’s Pacific coast in the second half.

The Pacific coast may become a potential "Achilles’ heel" ‐ a weak spot ‐ now that Taiwan has effectively fortified the west coast and garrisoned much of its weaponry and defense capabilities there. The possibility of a PLA "attack at the back", especially with the J-20 and the S-400, cannot be ruled out and future drills aim to help Taiwan beef up its defense on its "strategic rear."

Terror Networks
Report: Hezbollah planned huge, game-changing attacks on Israel targets globally
[IsraelTimes] Israeli intel official says vast ammonium nitrate cache found in 2015 in London, as reported this week, was part of terror group’s planned ’Dire Revenge’ against Israel in case of war.

For three and a half years, Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency played a cat-and-mouse game with the Hezbollah terror group to stymie its efforts to establish explosives storehouses from Thailand to New York, an Israeli intelligence official confirmed this week.

The largest cache, containing some three tons of ammonium nitrate, a key ingredient for some types of explosives, was found at four locations in north London, sites raided by the Metropolitan Police in September 2015. Other caches planted by Hezbollah cells were discovered in Cyprus, Thailand and as-yet unnamed Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an countries, according to reports.

The Hezbollah plot to establish infrastructure in London in preparation for future attacks was revealed Sunday in the UK’s Daily Telegraph newspaper.

That report, based on sources in Britannia, the US and Cyprus, noted that a foreign intelligence agency, unnamed, had tipped off Britannia’s MI5 and the Metropolitan Police about the explosives.

On Monday, an unnamed senior Israeli official told Israel’s Kan public broadcaster the warning had come from the Mossad.

On Wednesday, a report in the Yedioth Ahronoth daily expanded on the revelation, citing unnamed Israeli intelligence officials offering new details about the Israeli effort to stymie Hezbollah’s activities ‐ which police in London, Cyprus and Thailand have concluded were ultimately directed at Israeli assets in those countries.

"Hezbollah is preparing for a situation in which it will decide to seek Dire Revenge, whether for something taking place between Israel and Leb or for an attack on Iran’s nuclear sites, and has established a network of enormous caches of advanced kabooms" for that purpose, Yedioth quoted an Israeli intelligence official as saying.

The Mossad learned in 2014 of the plan by Hezbollah’s Unit 910, responsible for the group’s foreign operations, to develop the ability to launch massive terror attacks at will around the world.

Mossad information enabled Thai authorities to nab a cell in the country in early 2015, followed in April of that year by the arrest of Hezbollah operative Hussein Abdullah in Cyprus after his cellar was found to contain a ton of ammonium nitrate.

The Israeli source told Yedioth that the effort by the Lebanese terror group involved "long-term planning for immense, game-changing terror attacks. Luckily, someone was in the right place at the right time to issue a warning, to pass on the information and to prevent the establishment of this infrastructure."

Europe
Italy, UK’s MI-6 aid the Durham probe of Brennan, Mifsud’s Trump Spygate
[COMMDIGINEWS] As US Attorney John Durham launches a widespread probe into the origins of the Russia Hoax, foreign intelligence agencies implicated in the scandal are cooperating with the investigation. The government of Italia has fired the heads of two Intel agencies over the Brennan-Mifsud spying allegations.

As well as 4 of their top associates.

PM @GiuseppeConteIT has suddenly requested resignations from 6 deputy directors of Italian intelligence agencies: DIS, AISI and AISE.

British spy Remington Christopher Steele is also talking to Durham’s Sherlocks.

ITALIA, UK, AUSTRALIA, AND UKRAINE ALL NEED TO COOPERATE WITH DURHAM
No word yet on the Australian government’s exposing the actions of Alexander Downer in setting up George Papadopoulos in phase two of the CIA entrapment scheme. Yet it is clear that CIA assets Joseph Mifsud, Alexander Downer, and Stefan Halper were all intimately involved in the coordinated conspiracy to portray Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
as a Russian agent.

That this operation was carried out by senior elements of the State Department, CIA, DOJ, and FBI. It is a testimony to the ultimate coordination of the illegal efforts by the Obama White House.

Now that Durham has officially notified Congress of the depth and extent of the Russia hoax conspiracy, we can expect the unseemly revelations to continue to be exposed.

ITALIA FEELS USED BY BRENNAN AND OBAMA
One of the principle reasons behind the turn of events is that the foreign intelligence agencies and the heads of their governments feel that they were used by the Obama White House and John Brennan
...director of the CIA under the Obama administration. One of the deeper dwelling denizens of the Deep State, possibly even the guy who lit the match that launched the Russiagate coup attempt...
They were engaging in illegal activities that clearly interfered in the internal affairs of the United States.

The Italians government particular is incensed. Italia is launching an intensive investigation into the entire affair. They have promised to share the results of their investigation with the United States.

The possibility of criminal activity in Italia against Italian officials is very real.

UK AND MI-6 ARE UP TO THEIR NECKS IN THE RUSSIA HOAX
In the UK MI-5 and MI-6 have been up to their necks in the Russia hoax conspiracy for some years now. Why they would allow themselves to be used in this way? Much less participate enthusiastically.

It was clearly a large, tightly coordinated operation. How and why did they coordinate with Halper, Downer and the FBI? What could they possibly have been thinking? It is a total mystery.

Yet sadly, it is clear that British Intelligence services were not only aware of the efforts to entrap members of the Trump campaign. They actively participated in it.

Imagine the surprise in London, Canberra, and Rome when Perennial Presidential Campaigner Hillary Crooked Hillary Clinton
... former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, Conqueror of Benghazi, Heroine of Tuzla, formerly described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as The Thing That Wouldn't Go Away...
lost and Donald Trump became President. Just as in the United States, panic set in at the intelligence agencies who had played a role in the scheme. Brennan, Clapper, and Comey were completely freaking out.

As was Hillary Clinton.

Imagine what the heads of MI-6 and Italian intelligence were thinking. Well, it is now clear what they were thinking.

CERTAIN THAT HILLARY WOULD WIN, SO THEY PLAYED ALONG WITH BRENNAN
It seems they were thinking they were about to be exposed. They had joined the wrong garden party. They were waiting for the other shoe to drop. Like their American counterparts, they were certain Clinton would win.

#1  Rep. Nadler requested a scope letter from AG Barr regarding the John Durham's investigation of Spygate. Barr letter.

“The Review is broad in scope and multifaceted, and is intended to illuminate open questions regarding the activities of U.S. and foreign intelligence services as well as non-governmental organizations and individuals”

Should include the DNC, FISA and judiciary, HRCs campaign, the Clinton Foundation, MI6, our intelligence agencies, other 5-eye countries, Italy, Russia, Ukraine, the DOS and others. That is very broad. Mueller's $30-40 mil. would have been better spent on this investigation. "Sunk Cost Sessions" was a bad initial choice as an AG.

Whether it will be that broad remains to be seen.

So far, we've seen nada.

Iraq
US blacklists Iraqi firm accused of gunrunning for Iranian Guards
[IsraelTimes] South Wealth Resources and two of its agents added to State Department’s list of global terrorists, are also accused of helping move funds on behalf of IRGC.

The Trump administration on Wednesday imposed sanctions on an Iraq-based affiliate of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, one more in a series of steps intended to pressure Tehran following President Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
’s decision last year to withdraw from the landmark nuclear deal with the Islamic Theocratic Republic.

The Treasury Department said the penalties target the South Wealth Resources Company in Baghdad and two of its registered agents. It said the company and the two men are linked to the IRGC’s foreign wing, or Quds Force, and have trafficked hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of weapons to Shiite militias in Iraq.

South Wealth Resources has also helped move millions of dollars to Iraq "for illicit financial activity benefiting" the IRGC and Iraqi militias it supports.

The company and the two Iraqis, Makki Kazim Abd Al Hamid Al Asadi and Muhammed Husayn Salih al-Hasani, were also placed on the US State Department’s list of Specially Designated Global Terrorists.

"The Iraqi financial sector and the broader international financial system must harden their defenses against the continued deceptive tactics emanating from Tehran in order to avoid complicity" in the IRGC’s "ongoing sanctions evasion schemes and other malign activities," Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in a statement.

The administration last month designed the IRGC as a foreign terrorist organization, which makes providing it with material support illegal under US law.

The new actions freeze any assets that the targets may have in US jurisdictions and bar Americans from doing business with them.

The announcement came as Japan’s prime minister visited Iran

The US also has sent an aircraft carrier and B-52 bombers to the region, along with hundreds more troops to back up the tens of thousands already deployed across the Middle East. The US blames Iran for a mysterious attack on oil tankers off the coast of the United Arab Emirates, while Iranian-backed rebels in Yemen

Rudaw adds:
Washington stated the SWRC and two individuals have "trafficked hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of weapons to IRGC-QF [Quds Force]-backed Iraqi militias." The Quds Force is a unit of the IRGC that carries out extraterritorial operations.

It claims Asadi, 61, and Hasani, 64, received "commission payments" for contracts with SWRC by Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis. Both Asadi and Hasani are Iraqi nationals, according to the US government.

Muhandis is the deputy commander of the Hashd al-Shaabi and is known to be close to Iran's Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani.

The US designated the IRGC a foreign terrorist organization in April, and targeted their assets under US jurisdiction, including their use of the US banking system.

SWRC, also called Manabea Tharwat al-Janoob General Trading Co., is based in the al-Jadriya district of eastern Baghdad. They are accused by the US of "facilitating the IRGC-QF’s weapons smuggling into Iraq".

"SWRC has moved millions of dollars to Iraq for illicit financial activity benefiting the IRGC-QF and its Iraq-based militia groups", read the Treasury’s statement.

Migrants stranded in boat off Tunisia as authorities say centres overcrowded
[AlAhram] A rescue boat carrying around 75 migrants colonists, most of them from Bangladesh, has been stuck off Tunisia for 12 days after authorities refused to let them disembark, the Red Islamic Thingy said on Tuesday.

The Egyptian boat rescued the migrants colonists in Tunisian waters, but authorities in the governorate of Medinine say its migrant centres are too overcrowded to allow them to come ashore, leaving the vessel 25 km from the coastal city of Zarzis.

A government source said the migrants colonists had refused food and medical aid and were demanding that they be allowed to cross into Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
- their likely target, hoping to reach the chance of a better life, when they set off.

Red Islamic Thingy official Mongi Slim said doctors had reached the boat to provide some medical help, but others had repeatedly refused any aid.

"After 12 days at sea, the migrants colonists are in a bad condition," he told Rooters.

Among the group who set off from Libya, 64 are from Bangladesh and the rest are from Morocco, Sudan and Egypt, the Red Islamic Thingy said. The details of their rescue were not immediately clear.

Neighbouring Libya’s west coast is a main departure point for African migrants colonists hoping to reach Europe by paying human traffickers, though numbers have dropped due to an Italian-led effort to disrupt smuggling networks and support the Libyan coastguard.

At least 65 migrants colonists drowned last month when their boat capsized in the Mediterranean Sea off the Tunisian coast after they had left Libya hoping to reach Europe.

In the first four months of 2019, 164 people are known to have died on the route, a smaller number but a higher death rate than in previous years, with one dying for every three who reach European shores, the U.N. refugee agency UNHCR said.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syria parliament okays Russian lease of Tartus port: State media
[AlAhram] Syria's parliament on Wednesday ratified a bill handing management of the country's largest port to a Russian firm for 49 years, state media said.

A deal between Damascus and the Russian company Stroytransgaz for the management, expansion and operation of Tartus port was first signed in late April.

It is one of many lucrative contracts between Damascus and Moscow, which has a naval base in Tartus and has been a key ally of
Hammud said it would yield "profitable returns" and transform Tartus port into an "economic gateway" connecting Syria to the rest of the Mediterranean.

Under the terms of the deal, Damascus could accrue up to 35 percent of profits, he added.

In April, Hammud said the Russian firm could invest up to $500 million in the port's expansion.

On Wednesday, however, he said the figure was about $50 million.

Founded in 1991, Stroytransgaz is one of the largest construction companies in Russia. It is 80-percent owned by Kremlin-linked oligarch Gennady Tymchenko.

In 2018, Syria awarded the company a 50-year concession to invest and extract phosphate in the central region of Palmyra.

Backed by Russian air power since 2015, Assad has made great military gains against rebels and jihadists, and the regime now holds up to 60 percent of the country.

Even during the war, Russian companies have invested in Syria's oil, gas and mining sectors and won contracts to build flour mills and water-pumping stations." valign=top style='float:right;;padding:5px;border:1px solid silver;' />Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

's regime.

The bill ratified on Wednesday, which still needs to be approved by the Syrian president, establishes a board of directors to oversee the management and operation of the port, the official SANA news agency said.

Under the agreement, the six directors would be split equally between Damascus and Stroytransgaz, but the board's leadership would reserved for the Russian company, SANA said.

It also exempts the firm from paying customs and tariffs on imports for the duration of the expansion work, which is expected to take six years.

Parliamentarians said the expansion would benefit Syria's ailing economy and represent an important step in support of the country's reconstruction drive, according to SANA.

Syrian Transport Minister Ali Hammud described the agreement as "ideal", according to SANA.

Hammud said it would yield "profitable returns" and transform Tartus port into an "economic gateway" connecting Syria to the rest of the Mediterranean.

Under the terms of the deal, Damascus could accrue up to 35 percent of profits, he added.

Two years after seige Marawi remains in ruins
[NPR] Olowan Magarang recalls the moment he knew it was time to flee his home in Marawi. It was in May 2017, two days into a siege by militants aligned with the Islamic State. He said, "I spotted ISIS fighters moving up my brother's four-story house, carrying long guns and high-caliber weapons."

Magarang was living in the epicenter of months of fighting where Philippine troops waged house-to-house combat against hundreds of ISIS-affiliated fighters in Marawi.

Authorities allowed him to see the ruins of his concrete house for the first time last August. He said, "I couldn't even recognize it. The second floor is destroyed. It has no roof or walls. I will renovate, as long as I have money."

Magarang is one of about 100,000 displaced residents — a number about half the size of Marawi's population — waiting to return home, according to the International Committee of the Red Cross. An estimated 11,400 families are holding up in homes of relatives and friends, while thousands of others wait in temporary shelters.

The Marawi rehabilitation task force says the displaced population can begin returning home at the end of July. A recent tour with authorities of the areas hardest hit by the conflict, however, suggests the government timetable might be ambitious.

The recovery has been plagued from the start. A Chinese-led consortium was initially involved but were ultimately rebuffed by local leaders and residents. The private Filipino contractor now clearing the debris has moved slowly. No house can be knocked down without the owner's consent, according to Cabinet Housing and Urban Development Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario, who chairs the city's rebuilding task force. Many competing claims filed over the damaged and destroyed property have caused confusion, he says.

"You see, there are so many challenges. ... We have to ensure that when they go back there — 6,000 owners — that they will be residing in the right location, and 55% do not have titles," Del Rosario says.

Some unexploded bombs also pose a risk in the area. Del Rosario says they are "90% cleared."

Biden promises he'll 'cure cancer' if elected president
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...Failed seeker of the Democratic presidential nomination on multiple occasions, vice president under Barack Obama, giving it a last try in his dotage for 2020...
told an audience in Ottumwa, Iowa Tuesday that his White House would "cure" cancer should he beat President Trump in 2020.

"I've worked so hard in my career, that I promise you, if I'm elected president you're gonna see single most important thing that changes America, we're gonna cure cancer," Biden said to applause.

During his stint as vice president, Biden oversaw the "Cancer Moonshot" initiative of the B.O. regime. During his final State of the Union address, Obama announced the program that resulted in a report outlining recommendations for funding and areas to focus research.

After his term, Biden oversaw the Biden Cancer Initiative dedicated to cancer prevention and research until he stepped down from the organization immediately after he announced his run for president.
