Extremism Experts Are Just Starting To Worry About The Left Now?
[Hot Air] Vice published a story yesterday titled "Extremism experts are starting to worry about the left." My reaction: It’s about damn time.

Levin, a former New York City cop who studies domestic extremism as the director of the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University, was documenting a Klan rally in Anaheim, California, when a counterprotest suddenly took a violent swing -- forcing Levin to physically place himself between a Klansman and a furious, anti-fascist mob that seemed ready to kill...

"I think we’re in a time when we can’t ignore the extremism from the Left," said Oren Segal, the director of the Center on Extremism, an arm of the Anti-Defamation League. Over the past few months, the ADL, which hosts regular seminars on homegrown extremism for law enforcement officials, has begun warning of the rising threat posed by far-left groups, most recently at a seminar just this past Sunday. "When we have anti-fascist counterprotests -- not that they are the same as white supremacists -- that can ratchet up the violence at these events, and it means we can see people who are violent on their own be attracted to that," Segal said. "I hate to say it, but it feels inevitable."...

Levin is worried about it too: The embrace by the far left of tactics that were previously the purview of the far right means the level of political tension in the country can only go up. "I’ve been going up and down the state of California meeting with law enforcement officials about this. I’m very concerned about it," he said. "What we’re seeing is the democratization of extremism and the tactics of radicalism. I’ve been warning about this, and nobody gave a shit."

Somewhere in the middle of the article, Vice points out that violence is nothing new on the far left. In the 1960s groups like the Weather Underground ran domestic terror campaigns. That history seems relevant in light of the two shootings of police officers--one in Dallas and one in Baton Rouge--by black radicals last year. The Baton Rouge shooter was a black separatist who apparently admired Huey Newton. The shooter also praised the actions of Dallas shooter Micah Xavier Johnson. Johnson was a fan of a litany of far-left extremist groups who wanted to kill white police officers.

#1  I think they are just now starting to realize the fascists are no longer controllable and I also think they are beginning to see what will happen to them if they don't try to pull back a bit.

See Bosnia for examples of what will happen.

Update and fotos: US Navy Destroyer 'collision ' with container ship
[American Thinker] Navy destroyer in Sea of Japan: A sideways collision or more fake news?
By Brian C. Joondeph

Yesterday’s news, aside from the usual Trump obstructing, colluding, and making money on his investments, included a ship collision. As described by ABC, a "Navy destroyer collides with container ship off coast of Japan." NBC had a similar headline, "Navy destroyer collides with ship off Japan."

Fox News worded their headline a little differently, "US Navy involved in collision." As did CNN saying, "Navy destroyer collision off Japan."

It was a terrible accident as US sailors are missing and potentially injured or worse, but my point is regarding the choice of words describing what happened.

The dictionary definition of collide is "to hit something violently." Something hits something else. A verb. Seems straightforward. The word collision is a noun, an event that occurred. Not clear is what hit what.

Two of the above mention stories uses the word "collision", which is clearly what happened yesterday. Two other stories used the word "collide", meaning one ship hit the other ship. The headlines, by saying the US Navy ship collided with the Japanese container ship, imply that the Navy ship hit the container ship.

What do the pictures say? This first photo is of the US Navy destroyer.

#7  Although we won't know a lot more until more of the investigation is done, according to the rules of the road, the ship on the left (the Fitzgerald) is responsible for keeping clear of the other ship. I'm not sure what would happen if the container ship suddenly decided to ram.
According to Wikipedia, the Fitzgerald has two surface search radars so they should have seen the other ship coming.
When I was on active duty 45 years ago, there was always a lot of tension the bridge when you were in a shipping lane with lots of traffic - especially at night.

Americans Learning to Live with Treason
[American Thinker] Pop the champagne corks, set off the fireworks, former FBI Director, James Comey nixed the "Russian collusion." In his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Comey cleared President Trump of all charges ‐ no collusion, no conspiracy, no investigation, no there there.

Yay! It's over. The Russian conspiracy nonsense is finally debunked. Whew!

Does anyone else see the insanity here ‐ that we celebrate when the president is cleared of phony charges, that we breathe a sigh of relief when the fired FBI director fails to establish an obstruction of justice charge?

Does anyone wonder why we anxiously watch each inane congressional hearing to see if the left gets the goods to pull off its coup, why we wake up each morning terrified that the insurgents have hit their mark, found something, anything they can use to depose a duly elected president?

We are watching, in real-time, a palace revolution, an overt effort to remove the president of the United States. Just as James Comey proudly admitted he leaked privileged communication to the press, so these insurgents brazenly brag that they want to harm the president, to impeach him, to overthrow our government. The American people seem shockingly oblivious to the looming danger.

How did we get here? Well, let's give credit where credit's due: the left has its ducks in a row. Leftists are carrying out a carefully planned, well executed plot to take control of our government.

Oh, it's not soldiers bursting through the White House gates to forcefully remove the president, or, as the left says, not yet. No, they're using a form of behavior therapy, systematic desensitization, to numb the American people to their insurgence.

Systematic desensitization is a technique used to treat phobias. The patient, while relaxed, is exposed to progressively more frightening aspects of his phobia. For instance, treatment for arachnophobia, fear of spiders, might start by showing the phobic an image of a spider. The patient employs relaxation techniques while exposed to the image until he overcomes his anxiety. Next, a real spider may be introduced, far away, in a cage. After the person accepts that exposure, the spider is taken out of the cage and moved closer and closer until the patient is able to hold a live spider in his hand.

#3  Congress, corporate and social media, activist courts, and a contingent in our intelligence community unite to form a cabal (a conspiratorial group of plotters).  This cabal uses this desensitization technique to condition us to overcome our fear of losing our freedom, of a disappearing democracy.
Using this technique, the cabal does something wrong, illegal, or unconstitutional – behavior that's a threat to our republic.

This cabal of insurgents criminals ought to be fearful of Americans when they finally get fed up with this charade parading as justice.

Putin: No ‘retaliatory actions' yet for new US sanctions
[The Hill] Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday said it’s premature to discuss "retaliatory actions" on new U.S. sanctions toward Moscow.

"We need to see how it is all going to be. That is why it is premature to speak publicly about our retaliatory actions," Putin said, according to Reuters.

The Trump administration has sought to avoid new sanctions in order to avoid souring the U.S.-Russia relationship that has shown signs of improvement under President Trump.

However Congress is moving on its own toward increased censure for Moscow. The Senate on Thursday overwhelmingly passed legislation imposing new sanctions on Russia and giving Congress the ability to block Trump from lifting current sanctions.

The sanctions include censure for any individuals tied to "malicious cyber activity" or to Russia's intelligence and defense sectors and entities supplying weapons to Syrian President Bashar Assad’s government.

Putin warned new sanctions "will of course complicate the Russian-American relationship," according to ABC News.

The legislation next has to clear a House vote.
Yet another attempt to stir shi* up and derail the efforts of POTUS and Secretary of State Tillerson.

POTUS' Ag Secretary Leading 22-Agency TF to Reignite Rural America, Protect Forgotten Man
[Breitbart] In keeping with President Donald Trump’s executive order establishing the Interagency Task Force on Agriculture and Rural Prosperity, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue launched the effort on Thursday along with representatives from 22 federal agencies that are taking on the wide-ranging initiative.

The task force will work to find ways to increase jobs, housing and educational opportunities for America’s rural communities, and to remove obstacles, such as burdensome regulations, and to improve infrastructure and access to technology.

The task force held its inaugural meeting in Washington, D.C., and attendees included Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson, Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, Director of the White House Office of Management and Budget Mick Mulvaney, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission Ajit Pai, and other government officials.

"What we began here today is to lay a fertile seed bed in rural America, where good things can grow," Perdue said. He went on:

The Special Seinfeld? An investigation about nothing could become something worse.
[WSJ] June 16, 2017 3:24 p.m. ET

"After 7 months of investigations & committee hearings about my ’collusion with the Russians,’ nobody has been able to show any proof. Sad!," tweeted President Donald Trump this morning. Mr. Trump isn’t known for understatement, but in this case his argument is stronger than he suggests, because then-Director Jim Comey’s FBI began looking for evidence of collusion nearly a full year ago. It still hasn’t appeared, which means that Department of Justice Special Counsel Robert Mueller is conducting an investigation in search of a premise. But if this is starting to look like the Seinfeld of federal productions--a show about nothing--recent events suggest it could end up being about something worse.

Mr. Mueller has a sterling reputation and a long record of service to the United States, including as a decorated Marine in Vietnam and as Mr. Comey’s predecessor atop the FBI. He is known for his independence and professionalism, which makes recent media reports about his burgeoning investigation rather puzzling.

CNN reports today that Mr. Mueller has already hired 13 lawyers and plans to hire more. The network describes the investigative team:

Among them are James Quarles and Jeannie Rhee, both of whom Mueller brought over from his old firm, WilmerHale. He’s also hired Andrew Weissmann, who led the Enron investigation.

"That is a great, great team of complete professionals, so let’s let him do his job," former independent counsel Kenneth Starr, who investigated President Bill Clinton in the 1990s, told ABC News.

While only five attorneys have been identified, concerns have come up over the political leanings of Quarles, Rhee and Weissmann. They have donated overwhelmingly to Democrats, totaling more than $53,000 since 1988, according to a CNN analysis of Federal Election Commission records.

If Mr. Mueller promptly exonerates the President, the presence of partisan Democrats on the investigative team will certainly lend credibility to Mr. Mueller’s findings. In a similar way, the presence of Trump donors on the team would bolster Mr. Mueller’s case if he ended up claiming that the President did something wrong.

Conscientious people--and even attorneys--can put their politics aside and perform honest service. But rather than deciding which political partisans to engage in this work, shouldn’t Mr. Mueller be seeking people who don’t have a particular rooting interest in the outcome? For both the appearance and the reality of a fair inquiry, an independent staff would seem to be an obvious objective when assembling the team.

Is it hard to find good lawyers who aren’t political activists? Mr. Mueller is obviously comfortable hiring former WilmerHale colleagues, and it turns out it’s not so easy finding attorneys there who aren’t partisans. The firm’s investigative and criminal litigation practice group is one obvious place to look for lawyers to join the Russia investigation. Both co-chairs of this group at WilmerHale are Democratic donors, according to OpenSecrets.org. This group is part of a larger "Litigation/Controversy Department," and its chair and all four vice chairs are also Democratic check-writers, though a couple of them have also contributed to Republicans. Many of the more junior attorneys are also active in politics, which means Mr. Mueller may need to get outside his comfort zone if he wants more independent thinkers.

Again, just because Mr. Mueller hired people who gave hefty donations to Democrats doesn’t mean these lawyers can’t do a professional job searching for the long-sought evidence of collusion. But then what are we to make of the Washington Post report this week with various anonymous sources saying Mr. Mueller’s team is investigating if the President obstructed justice--and then another Post report based on leaks saying Team Mueller is looking into presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner’s business dealings?

As for the idea that Mr. Trump might have obstructed justice, Andy McCarthy and Alan Dershowitz and Michael McConnell have separately explained why this is a big stretch, and Richard Epstein makes the case that if anyone in this drama is vulnerable to a possible obstruction charge, it’s Mr. Comey.

But whatever one believes about the President, the Post reports make Mr. Mueller’s team look like political hacks focused on providing inappropriate leaks from an investigation just barely in progress, rather than professionals who are putting aside their politics to do a public service. This is assuming the Post reports are accurate.

Yesterday, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein released this statement:

Americans should exercise caution before accepting as true any stories attributed to anonymous ’officials,’ particularly when they do not identify the country ‐ let alone the branch or agency of government ‐ with which the alleged sources supposedly are affiliated. Americans should be skeptical about anonymous allegations. The Department of Justice has a long-established policy to neither confirm nor deny such allegations.

Is he saying this is another case of fake news? If not, it suggests that Mr. Mueller has already made significant errors in staffing his investigation.

#5  It takes honest and true men of goodwill to make such a system work.
And then came the lawyers.
And then came the gaming of the system.
And then the people discovered that they could vote themselves a raise.
Then the criminals and the deviants became a noisy and significant force in the destiny of the FUSA.

And it became necessary to rebalance our lives.
The reboot became very difficult, like excising a cancer.
Will the patient live?
Stay tuned.
The patient may live but will not be the same
Such is the cycle of life and death.

Terror Networks
Book of the Day: Marc Thiessen, 'Courting Disaster'
Courting Disaster - Here is an excerpt:

Just before dawn on March 1, 2003, two dozen heavily armed Pakistani tactical assault forces move in and surround a safe house in Rawalpindi. A few hours earlier they had received a text message from an informant inside the house. It read: "I am with KSM."

Bursting in, they find the disheveled mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, in his bedroom. He is taken into custody. In the safe house, they find a treasure trove of computers, documents, cell phones and other valuable "pocket litter."

Once in custody, KSM is defiant. He refuses to answer questions, informing his captors that he will tell them everything when he gets to America and sees his lawyer. But KSM is not taken to America to see a lawyer Instead he is taken to a secret CIA "black site" in an undisclosed location.

Upon arrival, KSM finds himself in the complete control of Americans. He does not know where he is, how long he will be there, or what his fate will be. Despite his circumstances, KSM still refuses to talk. He spews contempt at his interrogators, telling them Americans are weak, lack resilience, and are unable to do what is necessary to prevent the terrorists from succeeding in their goals. He has trained to resist interrogation. When he is asked for information about future attacks, he tells his questioners scornfully: "Soon, you will know."

It becomes clear he will not reveal the information using traditional interrogation techniques. So he undergoes a series of "enhanced interrogation techniques" approved for use only on the most high-value detainees. The techniques include waterboarding. He begins telling his CIA de-briefers about active al Qaeda plots to launch attacks against the United States and other Western targets. He holds classes for CIA officials, using a chalkboard to draw a picture of al Qaeda's operating structure, financing, communications, and logistics. He identifies al Qaeda travel routes and safe havens, and helps intelligence officers make sense of documents and computer records seized in terrorist raids. He identifies voices in intercepted telephone calls, and helps officials understand the meaning of coded terrorist communications. He provides information that helps our intelligence community capture other high-ranking terrorists.

KSM's questioning, and that of other captured terrorists, produces more than 6,000 intelligence reports, which are shared across the intelligence community, as well as with our allies across the world. In one of these reports, KSM describes in detail the revisions he made to his failed 1994-1995 plan known as the "Bojinka plot" to blow up a dozen airplanes carrying some 4,000 passengers over the Pacific Ocean. Years later, an observant CIA officer notices the activities of a cell being followed by British authorities appear to match KSM's description of his plans for a Bojinka-style attack. In an operation that involves unprecedented intelligence cooperation between our countries, British officials proceed to unravel the plot.

On the night of Aug. 9, 2006 they launch a series of raids in a northeast London suburb that lead to the arrest of two dozen al Qaeda terrorist suspects. They find a USB thumb-drive in the pocket of one of the men with security details for Heathrow airport, and information on seven Trans-Atlantic flights that were scheduled to take off within hours of each other:

* United Airlines Flight 931 to San Francisco departing at 2:15 PM
* Air Canada Flight 849 to Toronto departing at 3:00 PM
* Air Canada Flight 865 to Montreal departing at 3:15 PM
* United Airlines Flight 959 to Chicago departing at 3:40 PM
* United Airlines Flight 925 to Washington departing at 4:20 PM
* American Airlines Flight 131 to New York departing at 4:35 PM
* American Airlines Flight 91 to Chicago departing at 4:50 PM

They seize bomb-making equipment and hydrogen peroxide to make liquid explosives. And they find the chilling martyrdom videos the suicide bombers had prepared.

Today, if you asked an average person on the street what they know about the 2006 airlines plot, most would not be able to tell you much. Few Americans are aware of the fact al Qaeda had planned to mark the fifth anniversary of 9/11 with an attack of similar scope and magnitude. And still fewer realize the terrorists' true intentions in this plot were uncovered thanks to critical information obtained through the interrogation of the man who conceived it: Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.

This is only one of the many attacks stopped with the help of the CIA interrogation program established by the Bush Administration in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. In addition to helping break up these specific terrorist cells and plots, CIA questioning provided our intelligence community with an unparalleled body of information about al Qaeda.

Until the program was temporarily suspended in 2006, intelligence officials say, well over half of the information our government had about al Qaeda-how it operates, how it moves money, how it communicates, how it recruits operatives, how it picks targets, how it plans and carries out attacks-came from the interrogation of terrorists in CIA custody.

Former CIA Director George Tenet has declared: "I know this program has saved lives. I know we've disrupted plots. I know this program alone is worth more than what the FBI, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the National Security Agency put together have been able to tell us." Former CIA Director Mike Hayden has said: "The facts of the case are that the use of these techniques against these terrorists made us safer. It really did work." Even Barack Obama's Director of National Intelligence, Dennis Blair, has acknowledged:

"High-value information came from interrogations in which those methods were used and provided a deeper understanding of the al Qaeda organization that was attacking this country." Leon Panetta, Obama's CIA Director, has said: "Important information was gathered from these detainees. It provided information that was acted upon. John Brennan, Obama's Homeland Security Advisor, when asked in an interview if enhanced-interrogation techniques were necessary to keep America safe, replied : "Would the U. S. be handicapped if the CIA was not, in fact, able to carry out these types of detention and debriefing activities, I would say yes."

On Jan. 22, 2009, President Obama issued Executive Order 13491, closing the CIA program and directing that, henceforth, all interrogations by U. S. personnel must follow the techniques contained in the Army Field Manual. The morning of the announcement, Mike Hayden was still in his post as CIA Director, He called White House Counsel Greg Craig and told him bluntly: "You didn't ask, but this is the CIA officially non-concurring".

The president went ahead anyway, overruling the objections of the agency. A few months later, on April 16, 2009, President Obama ordered the release of four Justice Department memos that described in detail the techniques used to interrogate KSM and other high-value terrorists. This time, not just Hayden (who was now retired) but five CIA directors -including Obama's own director, Leon Panetta objected. George Tenet called to urge against the memos' release. So did Porter Goss. So did John Deutch. Hayden says: "You had CIA directors in a continuous unbroken stream to 1995 calling saying, 'Don't do this.' In addition to objections from the men who led the agency for a collective 14 years, the President also heard objections from the agency's covert field operatives.

A few weeks earlier, Panetta had arranged for the eight top officials of the Clandestine Service to meet with the President. It was highly unusual for these clandestine officers to visit the Oval Office, and they used the opportunity to warn the President that releasing the memos would put agency operatives at risk.

The President reportedly listened respectfully, and then ignored their advice. With these actions, Barack Obama arguably did more damage to America's national security in his first 100 days of office than any President in American history.

Islamic State claims responsibility for Jerusalem attack
[Jpost] Islamic State claimed responsibility for the Jerusalem terror attack that killed Border Police officer Hadas Malka on Friday in a message posted by Amaq, the the group's news agency.

This is the first time that Islamic State have claimed responsibility for carrying out an attack on Israel soil.

A message posted by the group stated that "the attack was carried out by three lions," and said that the attack "will not be the last."

Consumer Reports warns liquid laundry detergent packets are not food (Video)
[ABC] The nonprofit organization Consumer Reports stated the popular liquid laundry detergent packets, sometimes referred to as "pods," may pose a "lethal risk" for adults with dementia, who may mistake the highly concentrated detergent packets for food.

The group obtained statistics from the Consumer Product Safety Commission after filing a Freedom of Information Act. The data showed that there have been eight deaths related to ingesting the liquid laundry detergent packets in the U.S. between 2012 and early 2017. Of those deaths, six were adults with dementia and two were young children.

Counter terror officers to probe knifeman arrested outside Parliament after a shout of ‘knife, knife, knife’
[DailyMail]
  • The Metropolitan Police confirmed a man in his 30s had been arrested

  • No injuries have been reported following the incident, which began at 11.10am

  • The bearded man was tasered and surrounded by armed officers outside Carriage Gates

  • Police are keeping an 'open mind' over whether a knifeman was a terrorist.
Photos of the shaven-headed, bearded black man in a grey zipped hoodie, white dress shirt and black slacks can be seen at the link. Oddly, after the original report yesterday morning everyone lost interest.

Mueller faces ‘unique hurdles' if he wants to press obstruction case against POTUS
[Wash Times] Special counsel Robert Mueller could have a tough time making an obstruction of justice case stick against President Trump, according to legal analysts, who said he will have to overcome a number of "unique hurdles" -- not the least of which is a decades-old Justice Department ruling that a sitting president can’t be charged.

Analysts say it will be up to Mr. Mueller to decide whether to accept the long-standing opinion of the Office of Legal Counsel, which ruled in 1973 and again in 2000 that a president has immunity from criminal prosecution.

It’s also not clear that FBI investigations count as "proceedings" that could be obstructed under one of the legal statutes that might be cited in an obstruction case, according to a legal memo prepared last month by the Congressional Research Service.

"Courts have not reached consensus on whether an FBI investigation meets this standard," the report says of 18 U.S.C. 1505, which applies generally to obstruction of administrative proceedings.

Mr. Mueller’s office declined to comment Thursday on reports that the special prosecutor’s probe had expanded from Russian meddling in the November presidential election to questions of whether Mr. Trump tried to obstruct the Russia investigation.

POTUS allies on the offensive against Mueller and Deep State attacks
[The Hill] President Trump’s legal team and political allies have launched a preemptive strike against special counsel Robert Mueller.

Trump’s backers are furious about a story that appeared Wednesday in The Washington Post, in which five anonymous sources alleged that the president is the target of an obstruction of justice investigation for allegedly trying to bury an FBI probe into his former national security adviser, Michael Flynn.

The timing of that story, which was published on Trump’s birthday and a week after the White House believed the president had moved beyond allegations of collusion with Russia in the presidential election, was viewed by Trump’s allies as evidence that the story was planted by law enforcement officials to ensure a shadow of suspicion would remain.

It is unclear whether the Post story was leaked by the special counsel, the FBI, former FBI Director James Comey and his allies, or witnesses that have been contacted by those law enforcement agencies as part of the investigation.

Many legal experts suspect the leaks didn’t come from the special counsel or from current or former FBI officials, but rather from those who have been reached for questioning as part of the probe -- or their staffers.

"The Special Counsel’s Office has undertaken stringent controls to prohibit unauthorized disclosures that deal severely with any member who engages in this conduct," Mueller spokesman Peter Carr told The Hill.

That hasn’t been enough to stop a barrage of attacks against the special counsel and Mueller, the lead investigator, who otherwise enjoys the confidence of lawmakers on both sides of the aisle.

D.C. Is a Swamp, ‘Washington Post' Story Confirms
[Free Beacon] Liberals have no problem defending al Qaeda--but draw the line at Ivanka Trump.

Jamie Gorelick is a Democratic super-lawyer and former Clinton Justice Department official who made millions of dollars underwriting subprime mortgages at Fannie Mae before leaving the taxpayer-backed mortgage securities firm in 2003. Now she is a partner at WilmerHale, where lawyers charge up to $1,250 an hour and her corner office provides, according to the Washington Post, a "breathtaking" view of the capital. A graduate of Harvard (magna cum laude) and Harvard Law School (cum laude), the 67-year-old Gorelick is a credentialed member of the Washington establishment, of the cognitive elite, even, some might say, of the Deep State.

Or at least she was until recently. Gorelick, the Post reports, has made a very bad boo-boo. Among the clients paying her exorbitant fees, you see, are Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. And for this crime, the Post continues, her liberal friends have cast Gorelick out and formed a "No Jamies Club."

No one raised a fuss when this paragon of virtue repped BP, the Clinton Foundation, and the student loan industry. But the Trumps are just--so--icky. Democratic consultant Hilary Rosen, for example, posted a Tweet suggesting Gorelick is "complicit" in whatever nasty things the Trump family stands accused of doing this morning. A former Clinton speechwriter tells the Post, "Representing Jared and Ivanka is a case of pushing the ethical envelope." Other "longtime friends of Gorelick contacted for this article," the Post goes on, "offered complimentary comments about her on the record, and then, after asking if they could make other remarks without attribution, bashed their colleagues to smithereens."

California Democrat Official Yells at Gay GOP Volunteer:
[LegalInsurrection]
A local Democratic Party official was caught on videotape verbally accosting signature gatherers in California during Pride weekend with a torrent of curse words and demanding to know, "Which one of you --holes is the gay?"The official, Jeff LeTourneau, followed up by saying, "You are a f--ing disgrace to any gay person I know, you piece of s--."The exchange occurred in the parking lot of a Fullerton, Calif., Walmart where LeTourneau, a Vice-Chair with the Democratic Party of Orange County who is gay, discovered that gay volunteers were helping a grassroots group collect signatures to unseat Democratic state Sen. Josh Newman. The effort is in response to a gas tax hike that recently passed the Legislature along party lines....Throughout the exchange, DeMaio and the publisher of a gay news site could be heard trying to placate LeTourneau with phrases like "Don’t be hateful" and "Don’t be so angry."At one point, LeTourneau got into an exchange with a shopper who approached the petition table and criticized the Vice-Chair for blocking access. She asked him to move."I don’t need to step away, are you kidding me?" he said. "I’m not stepping away."

Could Illinois be the first state to file for bankruptcy?
[CBS] Illinois residents may feel some solidarity with the likes of Puerto Rico and Detroit.

A financial crunch is spiraling into a serious problem for Illinois lawmakers, prompting some observers to wonder if the state might make history by becoming the first to go bankrupt. At the moment, it's impossible for a state to file for bankruptcy protection, which is only afforded to counties and municipalities like Detroit.

Chapter 9 bankruptcy protection could be extended to states if Congress took up the issue, although Stanford Law School professor Michael McConnell noted in an article last year that he believed the precedents are iffy for extending the option to states. Nevertheless, Illinois is in a serious financial pickle, which is why radical options such as bankruptcy are being floated as potential solutions.

Ratings agency Moody's Investor Service earlier this month downgraded Illinois' general obligation bonds to its lowest investment grade rating, citing the state's growing pile of unpaid bills and its mounting pension deficit. Illinois, by the way, has the lowest credit rating of any state. Lower ratings mean higher borrowing costs, since lenders view such borrowers as riskier bets.

"Legislative gridlock has sidetracked efforts not only to address pension needs but also to achieve fiscal balance, allowing a backlog of bills to approach $15 billion, or about 40 percent of the state's operating budget," the agency noted.

Jets buzz Benghazi’s Suq Al-Hout as LNA advance continues
[Libya Herald] Jets roared low across Benghazi tonight as the airforce buzzed Suq al-Hout where the Libyan National Army (LNA) continues to make slow progress in house-to-house fighting.

Such straight-and-low flying is unusual. Air attacks are normally made from a height. But tonight there were no bomb kabooms nor the sound of strafing. The high-speed passes were evidently designed to alarm and intimidate the remaining murderous Moslems trapped inside the enclave.

While there are no reports of LNA casualties today, the bodies of at least two murderous Moslems were discovered. One was identified as Ihab al-Zuway, said to be a member of Ansar al-Sharia
...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libyaand Yemen, with the Libyan versions currently most active. Tunisia's Shabaab al-Tawhid started out an Ansar al-Sharia and changed its name in early 2014. It still uses the old name now and then, probably because the stationery's not all used up and the web site hasn't expired yet...
, the other as Salahaddin Azzouz, whose nickname was "Talha" (Big Tree).

As the LNA advances the full extent of the damage to the historic Suq al-Hout district is becoming apparent. Hardly a building is untouched and some, such as the old internal security headquarters, built by the Italians in the 1930s, are largely destroyed.

Bahraini Jailed, Has Citizenship Revoked over ISIS-Linked Activity
[Asharq al-Aswat] Bahrain’s prosecution convicted on Wednesday a Bahraini suspect of involvement with the terror group ISIS, revoking his citizenship and sentencing him to 10 years in jail.

The convict was proven radicalized and having pledged to using force against the government, rabble-rousing and spreading chaos, threatening to disrupt social and civil peace.

Bahraini prosecution condemned Yusef Albinali, cousin of ISIS self-proclaimed holy man Turki Albinali, of all plaintiffs pushed against him.

Albinali’s legal representative, Abdullah Hashem, said he plans on pushing for a discrimination claim, and expects an appeal for the verdict against his client.

Advocate General and Head of the Terror Crimes Prosecution, Ahmed al-Hammadi, said that the First High Criminal Court had sentenced a suspect to 10 years in prison, revoked his citizenship and confiscated most of his possessions.

The Advocate General confirmed that the defendant was afforded full legal rights throughout the trial, adding he has the right to appeal the ruling, and may challenge the Court of Appeals’ verdict at the Court of Cassation as guaranteed by Bahraini law.

The suspect stood trial over charges of joining a terrorist group, possessing a firearm illegally for terrorist purposes and disseminating false news, al-Hammadi said.

the Afghan intelligence chief Masoom Stanikzai said late on Thursday that the probe into the bombing was carried out in coordination with the UAE intelligence and with the support of the US intelligence.

He said the findings of the three institutions produced similar results, particularly regarding the type of the explosives used and the other circumstances surrounding the incident, including the methods used to carry out the kaboom.

According to Stanikzai, Taliban’s leadership council based in Quetta city of Pakistain had plotted and coordinated the attack in the guesthouse of Kandahar governor.

Stanikzai said the chef of the guesthouse was recruited for the attack against $30,000 cash reward and an apartment in Pakistain.

The NDS chief also added that the RDX and TNT type explosives were used in the attack which were detonated using a remote control.

Dive SCORKL
[Digital Trends] Scorkl is a self-contained system that allows users to fill their own air tank and use it to stay underwater for up to 10 minutes at a time.

Awhile back we took a look at a device called the AirBuddy, which billed itself as a safe and easy to use alternative for those who want to try scuba diving without having to take special classes or get any kind of certification. But a new gadget called the Scorkl looks to take that experience a step further, giving users even more freedom for exploring underwater.

Scorkl, which derives its name from the combination of scuba diving and snorkeling, launched on Kickstarter a few days back. In a nutshell, it is a compact and lightweight scuba system that comes with a miniature air tank, an always-on regulator, and a pressure gauge. It is small enough to carry just about anywhere and can even be safely take on a plane, making it a good option for travelers and those who don’t want to waste a lot of time getting into the water.

The system allows users to dive in relatively shallow waters and stay submerged for up to 10 minutes at a time. Scorkl designers say that it is safe for use down to 20 meters below sea level, provided the diver is scuba certified, although they recommend that most people don’t go any deeper than 10 meters. They also recommend that uncertified divers stay within 3 meters of the surface at all times.

'Forced conversion' of minor creates uproar in Thar's Hindu community
[DAWN] The alleged abduction and conversion of a minor Hindu girl in Thar has triggered a wave of anger and indignation among members of the area's Hindu community.

Ravita Meghwar, 16, had allegedly been kidnapped by men from the Syed community of Wanharo village near Nagarparkar, Thar, on June 6th.

Yesterday (Thursday), the girl, along with 'husband' Nawaz Ali Shah, had met with local journalists in Umerkot to 'inform' them of her consent in both embracing Islam and her marriage.

She claimed to have embraced Islam in the presence of Pir Mohammad Ayub Jan Farooqui, an Islamic preacher, near the Samarro town of Umerkot district.

On Friday, the girl once again claimed to journalists in Islamkot that she had not been kidnapped but had eloped with Shah. She also demanded protection for both herself and her husband.

However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
the Hindu community, along with the girl's family, has insisted that she was kidnapped and forced to convert. Satram Das Meghwar, Ravita's father, has alleged that influential members of the Syed community had kidnapped his daughter after giving sleeping pills to the family.

He alleged that despite frequent appeals, Thar police avoided tracing the girl till she was forced to convert.

According to the marriage certificate issued by the preacher, a copy of which is available with Dawn, "The girl is approximately eighteen years old, can marry the person of her choice and her Islamic name is Gulnaz".

However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
according her primary school certificate, available with Dawn, Ravita was born on July 14, 2001.

The PML-N MNA from Thar and chief of the Pakistain Hindu Council, Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, has expressed his concern over the alleged abduction and the subsequent conversion of Ravita.

Assassination List Found On James Hodgkinson's Body
[Daily Caller] James T. Hodgkinson, the shooter who opened fire on dozens of Republican congressmen and staffers at a baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia, on Wednesday, had a list of Republican names in his pocket that was recovered by the FBI, The Daily Caller has learned.

The news that the shooter had a list of names suggests the shooting was not a random outburst, but instead appears to be a premeditated political assassination.

The list was written out on notepad paper and found in the shooter’s pocket, according to multiple sources with intimate knowledge of the situation, who spoke on condition of anonymity, citing the sensitivity of the investigation.
It is nice to know, but the FBI needs to fix that leak problem post haste. There is no reason to leak when it will be formally announced soon enough -- assuming it is true.
The list of names included Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks, South Carolina Rep. Jeff Duncan and Arizona Rep. Trent Franks, TheDC has confirmed.

The FBI has contacted at least one of the three congressmen to inform them of their inclusion on the list.

None of the three offices would offer comments on the record when asked about the names on the list. Brooks and Franks’ office further directed all inquiries to the Capitol police, who declined to comment. The FBI’s Washington field office, which is handling the investigation, also provided no comment, citing the ongoing investigation.

All three representatives are members of the House Freedom Caucus, which contains the lower chamber’s most conservative members. Both Duncan and Brooks attended Wednesday’s baseball practice.

China in quantum breakthrough as 'unhackable' experimental satellite sends first message
[Daily Mail] In a major breakthrough for quantum teleportation, scientists in China have successfully transmitted entangled photons farther than ever before, achieving a distance of more than 1,200 km (745 miles) between suborbital space and Earth.

Entangled photons theoretically maintain their link across any distance, and have potential to revolutionize secure communications – but, scientists have previously only managed to maintain the bond for about 100 km (62 miles).

Using the ‘quantum satellite’ Micius, the scientists were able to communicate with three ground stations in China, each more than 1,000 km (621 miles) apart.

#3  never trust Chinese experimental results.

i have a girlfriend who did medical research for a Japanese company while her husband was on assignment over there with an American firm. She said that such research is always done under temperature-controlled conditions, eg. at room temp defined as, say 72F + 0.5 degrees. In the U.S. the room will be controlled to that temperature and that range, because that is what the thermostat is capable of. In Japan, she said, the experiment write-up will give that same information, because that is what the thermostat is capable of, but the building services team turned off the heating or air conditioning -- depending on the season -- at night and on the weekends as a cost savings measure when no one was supposed to be there. That was in the 1990s; since that tidal wave-induced shutdown of Japan's nuclear power plants, trailing daughter #2 commented that when she was in Tokyo for an internship a few years ago there was no air conditioning to be had in her office or her studio apartment all summer.

Home Front: WoT
Texas Enacts ‘Anti-Sharia' Law
[Breitbart] Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed into law House Bill 45, more commonly known as "American Laws for American Courts," or ALAC. It prohibits the use of any foreign law in the state’s courts, specifically in family cases that involve marriage or parent-child relationship matters.

One of the bill’s co-authors Representative Jeff Leach (R-Plano) thanked the governor, who signed HB 45 on Wednesday. Leach called the law "vitally important bill to further safeguard and protect our Constitutional rights!" In the last legislative session, Leach authored the comparable yet unsuccessful ALAC measure, House Bill 562.

HB 45 lead author Representative Dan Flynn (R-Canton) also introduced similar past legislation that failed. In a recent press release, Flynn noted foreign law is often applied in Texas cases concerning divorce orders, child support, property settlements and sometime even, spouses enter into agreements to have foreign law applied to their disputes.

"My colleagues and I here at the Texas Legislature want to make sure Texas judges never apply foreign law in Texas courts in violation of constitutional rights and the public policy of our state," said Flynn.

Under HB 45, Texas and U.S. law supersede all other laws. It prevents state judges from applying any foreign law because, in doing so, it infringes upon U.S. and Texas constitutional rights. The bill shields litigants in family law cases "against violations of constitutional rights and public policy in the application of foreign law" under the U.S. and Texas Constitutions, federal and judicial precedent, the Texas Family Code, and the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act, among other protections.

HB 45 makes no mention of any particular foreign nation, religion, or cultural practice but clarifies that "foreign law" means a rule, law, or code from a jurisdiction outside of the United States and it shall not override U.S and Texas law or their respective constitutions. It specifies that a "foreign judgment" means a ruling from a court, tribunal, or administrative adjudicator outside U.S. states and territories. The bill underscores that, in the event of any legal conflicts, "federal or state law prevails."

In January 2015, Breitbart Texas confirmed in a report that an Islamic tribunal using Sharia law operated in Dallas. Dr. Taher El-badawi, one of four attorneys who called themselves "judges" and not arbitrators, claimed the tribunal and its decisions were "voluntary." El-badawi said the tribunal operated under Sharia as a form of "non-binding dispute resolution" in civil disputes in family and business cases but also admitted that when in conflict between Sharia and Texas law, "we follow Sharia law."
That choice when the two conflict is unacceptable. Render unto Caeser, buddy.
In December 2015, Flynn asked Attorney General Ken Paxton "the extent to which current law authorizes or requires a judge of a state court to apply foreign law in certain family law disputes." Last year, Paxton ruled in a seven-page nonbinding legal opinion: "Under Texas law, a court is not required in family law disputes to enforce a foreign law if enforcement would be contrary to Texas public policy or if it would violate a party’s basic right to due process." However, according to the Attorney General’s office, Paxton’s opinion only constituted a written interpretation of existing law and did not decide any law.

The Texas chapter of the Council for American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) called HB 45 anti-Sharia law and lobbied for the state’s Muslim community to oppose the bill. "We believe it prevents Muslims from practicing their faith in areas such as Islamic marriage, divorce, funeral procedures, and civil agreements," they said in a press release.

HB 45 requires the Texas Supreme Court adopt its rules by January 1, 2018. The law goes into effect on September 1, making Texas the 12th state to enact ALAC. The other states are Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Washington, according to ACT for America.

JIT accused of tapping phones of witnesses
[DAWN] Blame game seems to have become the order of the day and Friday was the turn of Prime Minister House that accused the joint investigation team (JIT) probing the Panama Papers case of phone tapping and monitoring of witnesses -- a violation of the law and the Constitution.

"The reliance and reference to ’technical analysis’ is indeed an admission by JIT of phone tapping and monitoring of witnesses, a violation of the law and the Constitution," said the PM House in its rejoinder to the JIT application in which it had accused some government institutions of creating impediments in its work and tampering with relevant documents.

The PM House’s rejection of allegations is part of Attorney General Ashtar Ausaf’s four-page rejoinder to the JIT application, submitted to the Supreme Court on Friday. A three-judge SC bench headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan had asked the AG to submit his reply to the application.

The PM House denied the allegations.
No, no! Certainly not!
that it tutored witnesses and persons who were being summoned by the JIT -- constituted under the April 20 Supreme Court judgement to probe allegations stemming from Panama Papers leaks.

In its application, the JIT had alleged that witnesses were being tutored at the behest of the Sharif family and confidential letters were being leaked by misusing the PM House. The chief executive officer of the Ittefaq Group -- a close associate of the prime minister -- directed Tariq Shafi, the cousin of Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
, to come to the Prime Minister House prior to appearing before the JIT, it alleged.

In its denial, the PM House said, if needed, the persons being named were willing to file rejoinders.

Similarly, it denied that the PM House had leaked summons issued by the JIT and said the summons might have been leaked by the team itself or the JIT staff. Nevertheless, it said, such summons were matter of public knowledge and their leak did not in any manner hamper investigations as alleged.

The AG’s reply also contained the rejoinder of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) which denied hacking the Facebook account of a JIT member, Bilal Rasool, or his family members or any other member of the team.

"Low-downs on members of JIT was done under the standard operating procedures," it said and also denied the allegations.
No, no! Certainly not!
that IB field staff were found loitering outside the residence of Mr Rasool on May 24.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Pentagon: US has ‘no information’ to support Russia reports of IS leader’s death
[IsraelTimes] Moscow says it’s verifying whether His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi among 30 killed in May 28 Arclight airstrike near Raqqa stronghold.

The Pentagon said on Friday that it had no supporting information to confirm reports from Moscow that its forces may have killed the leader of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group in an Arclight airstrike last month.

"We have no information to corroborate those reports," Pentagon front man Navy Captain Jeff Davis told Rooters on Friday, after Russia said it was verifying whether Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
was killed in the raid targeting a meeting of IS leaders just outside the group’s de facto capital of Raqqa, in Syria.

The Russian Defense Ministry said other senior group commanders may have also been killed, adding that the information about his death was still "being verified through various channels."

Asked about that claim at a news conference in Moscow, however, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said: "I don’t have a 100-percent confirmation of the information."

The Defense Ministry said the air raid on May 28 that targeted the meeting may have also killed about 30 mid-level holy warrior leaders and about 300 other fighters.

The ministry said the IS leaders were gathered to discuss the group’s withdrawal from Raqqa. It said the military began planning the hit after getting word that the group’s leadership was to meet in order to plan IS’s exit to the south.

The Russian military sent drones to monitor the area and then dispatched a group of Su-34 bombers and Su-35 fighter jets to hit the IS gathering.

"According to the information that is being verified through various channels, IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi also attended the meeting and was killed in the Arclight airstrike," the military said in a statement.

The Defense Ministry added that it had warned the US of the coming strike.

Syrian opposition activists reported Arclight airstrikes on May 28 south of Raqqa that killed more than a dozen people. The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which tracks Syria’s war, said Arclight airstrikes on the road linked the villages of Ratla and Kasrat killed 18 people while the activist-operated Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently said 17 non-combatants were killed in the Arclight airstrike on buses carrying civilians. The Observatory said the dead included 10 Islamic State group members. It did not elaborate at the time.

The Russian ministry said that among other holy warrior leaders killed in the raid were IS leaders Abu al-Khadji al-Mysri, Ibrahim al-Naef al-Khadj and Suleiman al-Shauah.

Al-Baghdadi is a nom de guerre for a man identified as Ibrahim Awwad Ibrahim Ali al-Badri al-Samarrai. The US is offering a $25 million reward for information leading to his death or capture.

There had been previous reports of al-Baghdadi being killed but they did not turn out to be true. The IS leader last released an audio on Nov. 3, urging his followers to keep up the fight for djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
as they defend the Iraqi city against a major offensive that began weeks earlier.

As the forces of Evil take a pounding in their eroding strongholds, US officials and Syrian activists say many commanders have fled Mosul and Raqqa in recent months for Mayadeen, a remote town in the heart of Syria’s IS-controlled, Euphrates River valley near the Iraqi border.

Congressional staffers boo Trump at unity baseball game
[WashingtonTimes] So much for defanging the poisonous debate in Washington.

Dozens of congressional staffers erupted into boos, jeers and even vulgar gesticulations Thursday when President Trump appeared in a video at the Congressional Baseball Game at Nationals Park.

Mr. Trump delivered a message of unity, but some fans in the stands weren’t having any of it.

One man shouted an expletive at the video screen as Mr. Trump was telling the fans: "We are showing the world we will not be intimidated by threats."

The episode marred what had been a night celebrating those wounded in Wednesday’s murderous attack on GOP players practicing for the game.

When both teams went to second base -- the symbolic spot where Rep. Steve Scalise was wounded in the attack at the Alexandria practice field -- to kneel and pray, some mocked the prayer, too. The fans appeared to be Democratic staffers, having booed the announcement of several members of the GOP lineup.

Most fans were in the correct mood, however, chanting U-S-A and giving a loud standing ovation to Capitol Police Special Agent David Bailey, who along with two other special agents at the field Wednesday were credited with saving the lives of dozens of lawmakers and staffers.

Agent Bailey threw out the first pitch.

In the wake of the attack Wednesday, leaders in both parties have pleaded for civility in the political conversation.
In this modern age, somebody must have got those jeering and cat-calling on video. It's time to name and shame, Alinsky style. Make them live up to their claimed ideals.

Eritrea occupies disputed territory after Qataris exit, Djibouti files complaint

i peacekeepers withdrew on June 12 and 13. On the same day, there were Eritrean military movements on the mountain," Foreign Minister Mahamoud Ali Youssouf said on Friday.

Qatari peacekeepers had been in control of the disputed mountainous border crossing between Eritrea and Djibouti.

"They [Eritreans] are now in full control of Dumeira Mountain and Dumeira Island. This is in breach of the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
Security Council resolution," he said.

The minister said Djibouti had lodged complaints with both the United Nations and the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
, adding that its military forces were "on alert".

On the other side of the dispute, Nasredin Ali, a front man for Eritrea's biggest gang, known as the Red Sea Afar Democratic Organization, confirmed that Eritrean forces moved into the disputed region after the Qatari troops pulled out.

Qatari forces were deployed to the region after deadly festivities broke out between the Horn of Africa countries in 2008. The UN Security Council then requested both sides to withdraw from the area, before the neighbors accepted a Qatari request to mediate and deploy peacekeepers.

Palestinians to claim Cave of the Patriarchs as World Heritage Site
Vernichtung. If they can get the world to agree that the Jews have no historic attachment to the land of Israel, they think the world will help them drive the Jews out, or at least not stand in their way.
[Ynet] The PA is asking the UNESCO World Heritage Committee to declare the the Cave of the Patriarchs and the entire Old City of Hebron as an international heritage site by means of false claims.

The Paleostinian Authority (PA) is requesting from the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, whose annual meeting will take place on July 1 in Krakow, Poland, to register the Old City of Hebron--including its Cave of the Patriarchs--as a Paleostinian World Heritage Site.

There are 1,052 UNESCO-listed World Heritage Sites in the world, nine of them Israeli, two of them Paleostinian. The registration process and declaration of each site usually takes a number of years, but the PA want to take advantage of a clause in the regulations that allows to fast-track this procedure by claiming the sites are endangered.

The PA claims that the site is in danger of destruction by the "occupying force." Among other things, they claim that Israel carried out an exceptionally large concrete casting at the site, while Israel claims that it is only a small addition to the site, and that it was coordinated with the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf.

The Heritage Committee has 21 member countries, and its composition is very problematic for Israel: Finland, Poland, Portugal, Croatia, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Philippines, Korea, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Tunisia, Kuwait, Leb, Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other...
, Zim-bob-we, Angola and Tanzania--none of which is among the ten countries that voted for Israel on the UNESCO Executive Committee concerning Israeli conduct in Jerusalem and Gazoo.

Each request is accompanied by the opinion of a professional assessment body that makes a recommendation. In the two previous sites inscribed by the PA in 2012 and 2014--the Church of the Nativity and the Battir terraces--the professional body's recommendation was negative, but the committee voted for its approval following pressure from the Arab-Moslem lobby.

The Israeli delegation to UNESCO, headed by Ambassador Carmel Shama-Hacohen, has already begun making efforts to stop the PA's plans about a month ago.

Israeli ambassadors in the member states joined, and given the sensitivity of the issue, it appears that the prime minister will be required to address the matter personally. In order to prevent the inscription, Israel must mobilize at least one-third of the voting countries in its favor--an almost impossible task. If the decision is made, the Paleostinians will be able to claim that the control over the site should be transferred to them, which will bring international pressure on Israel.

"This is a clear continuation of the attacks and hallucinatory outrageous votes in UNESCO regarding Jerusalem, the Temple Mount and the Western Wall," said Shama-Hacohen. "Israel respects Moslem sensibilities and ensures freedom of worship, order, security, routine maintenance, and the development of infrastructure supporting the holy sites.

"Not only is the very essence of their claim outrageous, but also the way in which the Paleostinians accuse the Israel with blood libel that never occurred."

[FOX] U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Los Angeles International Airport recently seized more than eight pounds of crystal methamphetamine concealed in the undergarments and carry-on baggage of three passengers attempting to leave the country, the federal agency reported on Wednesday.

A French citizen was intercepted as he attempted to pass through a Transportation Security Administration checkpoint with nearly four pounds of crystal meth, planning to take the drugs to his home in French Polynesia,
according to a CBP statement.

Other members of the man's group were escorted to the CBP inspection area at the Tom Bradley International Terminal, where two more travelers were found to have more than four pounds of the drug concealed in their carry-on bags.

Ten people killed in India-controlled Kashmir clashes
[Iran Press TV] Separate festivities in Indian-controlled Kashmire have left at least ten people dead as tensions continue in the region.

Authorities said on Friday that the dear departed included five coppers, a soldier, two civilians and two suspected holy warriors.

In one incident, suspected bully boyz ambushed a police patrol in the town of Achhabal.

In the ambush, five coppers were killed, according to a top police officer who spoke to AFP on condition of anonymity.

The officer added that in a separate incident, soldiers and special forces, who had cordoned off Arwani village on a tip off that bully boyz were hiding in it, opened fire on villagers who allegedly wanted to help the bully boyz flee.

Two civilians, including a teenage boy, and two suspected bully boyz were killed in the incident, he reported.

In a third incident, an Indian soldier was killed in cross border shooting.

Pak soldiers had allegedly fired shots at Indian posts in southern Naushera along the Line of Control (LoC) dividing Kashmire, killing the Indian soldier, according to an Indian Army front man.

Syrian army retakes central gas field from IS group
[AlAhram] The Syrian army on Thursday retook a gas field in the country's centre from the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group, a monitor said.

"Regime forces seized the Arak gas field" in the central province of Homs, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Arak, like much of the surrounding desert region of Badiya, had been in the hands of the jihadists since 2015.

The army is pressing an offensive to recapture the vast region, which stretches from central Syria to the borders with Iraq and Jordan.

The Arak gas field lies 35 kilometres (20 miles) northeast of the ancient city of Palmyra, which regime forces retook with Russian support in March after IS overran it in 2014.

The Observatory says the Syrian army now stands 25 kilometres to the south of the town of al-Sukhna, which lies even further northeast.

The recapture of al-Sukhna could allow the army to advance into the mostly IS-held province of Deir Ezzor.

On Saturday, the army said it holds more than 20 percent of the Badiya region, after reaching the Iraqi border for the first time since 2015.

The regime has lost control of many oil and gas fields since the start in 2011 of Syria's conflict, especially in the provinces of Homs and Deir Ezzor.

But the army has since regained some including the Jazal oil field, some 20 kilometres northwest of Palmyra.

-Land of the Free
This Week in Guns, June 17th, 2017

Chris Covert
Rantburg.com

I have said several times in the past few months that the left is gunning for the rest of us. From the Anti-Fa fake grassroot movement to lone individuals, progressives want blood in buckets and they are willing to use firearms to make it flow. It is clear to me we are as close to open warfare as we have ever been as a nation.

The choice of weapons in the Virginia shootout is what has been called the Cockroach of War Weapons. For its caliber (7.62x39 AK), the SKS is the cheapest semiautomatic available. It is a forerunner to the AK, a WWII vintage weapon. Shown at the Gun of the Week is a nice photo of a Chinese-made, paratrooper model SKS.

I have yet to read much about how the shooter did his deed. If he had a standard SKS, he could only shoot 10 rounds before being forced to reload from a stripper clip. The shooter was not terribly familiar with firearms operation, it is clear because of the low rounds hit to rounds fired ratio, about one to 10. He could have had an SKS one modified to take special 30 and 40 round magazines.

If he fired only the SKS (and not the 9mm pistol it is said he had with him) and he fired 50 rounds, as the story stands now, he would have reloaded a total of five times. If he was receiving fire as he was doing this, it would explain the great amount of time he spent committing his crime, trying to reload as he was hearing pistol rounds fired in his direction. That will rattle even professionals such as kops.

Author Matt Bracken said if it were a shooter with range time, the body count were have been much higher.

Even though it was one of their customers who did the shooting, the left still wants to outlaw firearms. As trailing wife reminded me today, so does Australia.

Loads.

Rantburg's summary for arms and ammunition:

Pistol ammunition prices were steady. Rifle ammunition prices were mostly steady.

Prices for used pistols were mostly higher. Prices for used rifles were mixed.

The .223/5.56mm AR rifle continued its downward slide, falling to $435 average nationwide for used rifles for private sale. It is unknown just how far these rifles will fall in price, and how manufacturers will deal with such a decline. The decline is indicative of rifles that were made and registered as new with the ATF, and not rifles that were made for private use.

New Lows:

.223/5.56mm (AR Pattern Semiautomatic): Virginia: DPMS: $400

Thank goodness Hogdkinson did not have more experience or range time; otherwise what Braken said would be true.

It does seem like many on the left are hell-bent on anarchy and violence just for the sake of chaos and violence. They have nothing to offer in the way of ideas. What they offer is Venezuela.

Abducted Chinese nationals were offered security but they refused: interior ministry
[DAWN] New evidence has surfaced about the abduction and reported murder of two Chinese nationals by the murderous Moslem Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) group in Quetta, the interior ministry said on Friday.

The ministry has cancelled the visa of a South Korean national who it had earlier linked to the abduction incident.

The interior minister was earlier told that the Chinese couple had gone to Quetta and were engaged in preaching under the garb of learning Urdu from a Korean national, Juan Won Seo, who is the owner of ARK Info Tech.

It was revealed during the investigation, the ministry said on Friday, that South Korea Juan Won Seo alias Gilbert came to Pakistain on a business visa but set up an Urdu academy and was "engaged in illegal activities".

It also emerged during the investigation that the two Chinese nationals had been taken into police custody from Quetta's Kharotabad area some time ago and were informed about threat to their security.

"They were offered security but they refused to accept the offer," the ministry said.

Security and intelligence agencies are closely looking into the background of the incident and reviewing photos of the kidnapped pair released on social media so they could reach some conclusion and it could also be confirmed whether the Chinese nationals were actually killed or not, the statement said, quoting ministry sources.

China's Foreign Ministry on Tuesday said it would work with Pak authorities to investigate reports the two Chinese nationals were missionaries.

The pair, identified by authorities as Lee Zing Yang, 24, and Meng Li Si, 26, were kidnapped by gunnies pretending to be coppers on May 24 in Quetta. Last week, IS' Amaq propaganda agency claimed its members had killed them.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Hundreds of Palestinian paramilitary reinforcements arrive in east Damascus
[ALMASDARNEWS] Hundreds of Paleostinian paramilitary personnel traveled from the Jaramana Refugee Camp to the Badiya al-Sham region of rural Damascus, Friday, a Syrian Army source reported.

According to the source, these reinforcements will replace some of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) soldiers that were redeployed to the eastern part of Damascus City.

Jaish al-Tahrir has fought in several battles in the past, including some offensives in northern Syria.

Since taking control of the border-crossing near the village of al-Boudah, the Syrian Armed Forces have postponed their operations in order to concentrate on the eastern countryside of Palmyra; they are expected to resume the offensive in the coming weeks.

Fifth Column
Weapon used in Arlington attack was an SKS 7.62x39 rifle
[CNN] The rifle used in the attack that left a congressman and four other people wounded on a baseball field is a Soviet-era relic that is widely available in the United States and was used in another mass shooting last year.

The gunman, James Hodgkinson, who was shot dead by law enforcement, is believed to have used an SKS 7.62-millimeter caliber rifle in the attack, a law enforcement source told CNN. Investigators also recovered a 9-millimeter handgun at the scene, but it is not known whether Hodgkinson fired it.

Investigators said Thursday that they have no indication Hodgkinson bought either gun illegally.

#1  I bought mine for $200 a few years ago. Mine has a 20 rnd mag. They are fun to shoot and the rounds are dirt cheap because you can use the dirtiest produced cartridges. And the steel case rounds don't fuck up the internal mechanisms.

#3  What is CNN article doing here? They are fake news. let's not give them clicks.

It was the closest thing I could find to a confirmation of the type of weapon used. A semi-trained ear can usually tell the difference between the report (sound) of a 5.56 round and that of a 7.62x39. From the video filmed during the attack, I had my doubts about the initial claims of an M4.
Posted by: Besoeker || 06/17/2017 7:38 Comments || Top||

#4  The article still reads like an editorial and contains inaccuracies. Yeah, you can buy it online, but it still has to be shipped to an FFL and you still need a background check. As for the 100 rounds or more in an AR mag, I've seen people playing with them, they aren't concealable at all and not especially reliable either. Not the sort of thing many people would buy for presumably one time use.
Posted by: M. Murcek || 06/17/2017 7:59 Comments || Top||

#5  As for the 100 rounds or more in an AR mag......not especially reliable either.

Oh so very true. If one is well-trained - 30 round mags are all you need. The time you spend f'ing w/those 100 drums w/failure to feed, stoppages, or just changing the stupid thing is wasted time. Learn how to to smooth mag exchanges.

I wish YOU and your trusty 225 had been at that congressional baseball practice. That numbnut would have been spitting blood before he could get his second stripper clip loaded.

The steak is unnecessary. Nobody within 250 miles of Hartsfield-Jackson eats that 'food.' Perhaps an adult beverage.

100 rnd mags? About as practical as a facial penis. But that's just my opinion.

#8  Well, Beoserker, they were earlier reporting this as "the AK 47 variant called the SKS..."

See this piece at Ace's:

CNN claimed the SKS that Rachel Maddow-inspired assassin James Hodgkinson used was a "variant of the AK-47."

It's not. And that's important, because claiming it's a "variant" of the fully-automatic AK-47 makes it a lay-up for banning by the gun-grabbers; CNN's "error" just happens to track with the language that gun control groups would prefer.

In fact, the one-shot-per-trigger-pull SKS was developed before the AK-47, making it hard to see how this gun could be a "variant of" the full-auto AK-47.

But they refuse to correct.

Several observations:

Once again, I repeat that the media's ignorance here is an ignorance they're proud of. They don't like icky boy-stuff; they like lots of whipped cream on their moccachinos.

This is Genteel Ignorance, a cultivated ignorance that one is proud of, like an aristocrat proud that he has no idea how to fix his own door. We have "people" for that, after all...

...Media: We don't want to ban all guns, you Paranoid Gun-Lovers. We only want to ban the Bad guns.

Expert: But you just completely botched your identification of the "Bad" gun involved here.

Media: That doesn't matter, they all need to be banned eventually anyway.

They're giving the game away, and they don't even care that their lying is not even of the half-hearted level of exertion any longer.

They want you to know they're lying -- just as a serial killer, ultimately, wants you to know he's the one.

They're each proud of their respective butcheries. They want to be famous for them.

They are not just murdering facts; they are unleashing a Great Revolution with their ritualistic torture of basic facts. What is the point of doing so, if the world does not know who the Author of these noble murders is?

Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
two men who were seeking to travel between Ajdabiya and Tobruk disguised as women.

Both men were wearing full-covering burqas when their vehicle was stopped today by the 501 Battalion at a checkpoint 50 kms from Tobruk.

It is unclear why the men were disguising themselves and it is not yet known if they have been identified. . They are currently being questioned.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
IDF soldiers fire warning shots at Palestinians near Gaza fence
[IsraelTimes] Earlier Friday, army arrests Paleostinians in West Bank preparing to throw stones, Molotov cocktails at settlers.

IDF soldiers fired a number of warning shots toward Paleostinians who came close to the Gazoo border fence, after they did not heed calls to turn back on Friday.

The military said it was checking Paleostinian reports claiming several Gazooks were maimed in the incident.

IDF soldiers remain deployed near the fence across from several flashpoints where Paleostinians rallied by Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", routinely protest against Israel, sometimes launching stones at the troops and otherwise trying to damage the fence.

Earlier on Friday, IDF forces placed in durance vile
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
a cell of Paleostinians who were throwing stones and Molotov cocktails in the area of Kochav Hashachar in the West Bank.

During an operation that began early Friday, soldiers arrested six suspects and confiscated two vehicles in which Molotov cocktails and rocks were found.

Also Thursday overnight, two suspects were arrested in the West Bank.

One man was arrested in El Birah, suspected of terrorist activities and violence against Israeli civilians and security forces, and one man was arrested in Hebron, on suspicion that he was a Hamas operative, the army said.
