Woman shouting 'Allahu akbar' attacks 2 with box cutter at supermarket in France
[Fox News] Sudden Jihad Syndrome or Batshit crazy? Witnesses told Var-matin the young woman attacked a customer and employee.

The woman was dressed in black and wearing a veil at the time, shouting "Allahu akbar" -- "God is great" in Arabic -- before she was placed under control by people intervening, according to Var-matin. Marchal said the suspect may have mental health problems, but has not been identified as police search her home.

"It's apparently an isolated case involving a person with psychiatric issues," the prosecutor told Le Monde newspaper quoted the prosecutor as saying. However, that does not exclude the possibility that the suspect was radicalized, Marchal added.
"We'll likely NEVER know her motivation"
"There is a presumption of attempted murder and ... of a crime with terrorist implications," Marchal was quoted as saying.

Devin Nunes warns: 'Hell to pay' on Wednesday if DOJ doesn't hand over documents
[Washington Examiner] House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes warned there will be "hell to pay" on Wednesday morning if the Justice Department doesn't start turning over documents.

During an interview on "Sunday Morning Futures With Maria Bartiromo," the California Republican said the documents he has demanded for months, pertaining to alleged Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act abuses and the Russia investigation, need to start coming in Monday.

"If documents do not begin to be turned over tomorrow, and a clear way and path for everything else is not clear here in the next couple of days, there's going to be hell to pay by Wednesday morning," he emphasized.

Nunes didn't explain what exactly would happen Wednesday, but his colleague, House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy, said in a separate Fox News interview Sunday that House Speaker Paul Ryan "made it very clear" the House will use "its full arsenal of constitutional weapons to gain compliance" on outstanding subpoenas.

Nunes said "our staffs" will meet Monday in what would be the next step forward, following a second classified briefing last week for the "Gang of Eight" congressional leaders, but noted he has a "low" level of confidence that the DOJ and the FBI would be cooperative.

Last week, a letter sent to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein that was signed by all 13 GOP members of the intelligence panel said that anything short of the DOJ permitting all members of the committee and "designated staff," which goes well beyond just the Gang of Eight, falls short of the request and therefore is "an obstruction of the Committee's efforts to investigate the Russia matter, including an alleged confidential FBI informant sniffing out suspicious ties to the Russians who spoke with members of President Trump's 2016 campaign.

More Than 1,000 Europeans Murdered, Maimed in Attacks by Islamist Asylum Seekers Since 2014
[Brietbart London] More than 1,000 people have been murdered or injured on European soil since 2014, in attacks carried out by Islamist asylum seekers and refugees, research has revealed.

Analysis by the Heritage Foundation found that asylum seekers were involved in 32 of 194 Islamist plots that have targeted Europe over the past four years, resulting in 357 deaths and 1,678 injuries.

Between January 2014 and December 2017, the attacks involving migrants who were seeking asylum accounted for 182 of the fatalities and 814 injuries, according to the Daily Mail.

Noting that the terror threat on the continent has soared since 2016, when German chancellor Angela Merkel opened Europe’s borders, the the U.S. think tank warned that mass migration from the Global South made it "disturbingly simple" for Islamic extremists to enter EU nations.

President Cyril Ramaphosa - Governance is Collapsing in South Africa
[SUN] South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has criticised his very own government for failing to meet the expectations of citizens when it comes to governance.

The president, speaking at the launch of the Kgalema Motlanthe Foundation's Inclusive Growth Conference in the Drakensburg, said it was time for South Africa "to return to work".

He said public institutions had lost credibility and trust in the eyes of those they were meant to serve.

"When hospitals run short of medicine, when housing projects remain unfinished, when schools run out of books we know that our institutions are failing our people and we want this to come to an end. That must end," said Ramaphosa to loud applause.

The president described occurrences in some provinces as "abuse of people".

Recently the entire North West government ground to a halt as residents called for then premier Supra Mahumapelo to step down. The platinum-rich province's heath department had completely collapsed, with facilities running out of medicine and workers going on strike for several months.

Victor Davis Hanson - The Inspector General (IG) Hall of Mirrors
[National Review] The professionally written and admirably researched IG report is in some sense a hall of mirrors, with all sorts of reflections that are contorted and warped, and into which all parties claim to see reality.

Often the euphemistic conclusions are not supported by the data produced. The only constant to Obama-era FBI and DOJ behavior is the universal assumption that Hillary Clinton would be president, and what might be assumed as improper or illegal conduct in the present, would likely in the future be excused or rewarded.

On the question of "bias," the report exhaustively catalogues communications in which government investigators and attorneys systematically deprecate Trump, and the Trump voter, and in explicit terms boast about stopping him.

Apparently the IG can conclude that there is not actionable bias (although at times admitting he could not rule it out), because he did not find something such as "documentary" memos or texts outlining explicit behaviors, or some fantasy such as an admission that "the Trump voter is a POS who smells and therefore that fact is going to unprofessionally guide my investigations" ‐ as if bias and prejudice are ever in professional life so clumsily documented in a formal, self-incriminating manner.

Instead, bias in government is manifested through cynicism about the objectivity of an investigation, in personal animus for those under investigation, and with disdain for particular and entire classes of perceived inferiors ‐ precisely the themes of various texts in the IG report. And, of course, bias shows up in results: Almost none of the DOJ and FBI agents in the IG report will ever face serious legal consequences for running a warped investigation quite unlike any of those they typically conduct on average Americans. What the IG often terms "improperly" would be considered "illegally" for most Americans.

#1  We have not yet even seen a smidgeon of any IG report on the abuses of the FISA court, the government trafficking in the Clinton-bought dossier, or the insertion of an “informant” into the Trump campaign. But this particular IG report mostly follows the pattern of those conducted about Fast and Furious, the Lerner IRS mess, and other scandals of the prior eight years:

Very telling I'd say.

Rudy Giuliani: No regrets saying FBI agents, prosecutors involved in Trump-Russia case belong in psych ward
[Washington Examiner] Rudy Giuliani doesn't regret saying that FBI agents and federal prosecutors involved in the Trump-Russia investigation were "wackadoodles" who cried when Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 election and require psychiatric assessments.

"I'm sorry but I had to put prosecutors, not FBI agents but other law enforcement, in jail when I was a prosecutor," Giuliani said Sunday during an interview on CNN's "State of the Union" of the remarks he made Saturday to a crowd of supporters.

"The ones I was talking about were instances where people were described as crying when Hillary lost," he continued. "I said if you're an FBI agent or prosecutor that's crying and you work for me, I'm sorry, I would send you for a mental evaluation. You shouldn't be working on a case where you have such a severe bias."

Economy
Meet the two millennials who started a wildly successful carbon fiber brand after moving to America
[Washington Examiner] With a booming economy and growing optimism among American consumers, the U.S. has certainly become the best place in the world for aspiring entrepreneurs to start and grow a business. One such example is the story of Sergio Abi-Naked and Dirk Abinakad, owners of Simply Carbon Fiber, who have taken full advantage of the Land of Opportunity after moving to the U.S, from Lebanon.

With persistent hard work and tenacious determination, the duo successfully developed an exclusive brand that sells carbon fiber accessories to consumers across the globe. Their collection of accessories, ranging from shock-proof "armor" iPhone cases to highly-durable sunglasses and watches, is crafted from the same 100 percent real carbon fiber found on the world’s most luxurious supercars. Moreover, everything is designed and shipped (proudly) from the U.S.

Sergio moved to America when he was just 3 years old, while Dirk made his journey when he was 9 years old. The two young businessmen believe America was the ideal place to successfully start a business and grow it freely with little regulation or restrictive laws.

"Our families came to America for a better future and to live in a more stable country. Other countries have very strict rules and laws on working or collaborating with other businesses," Dirk told Red Alert Politics. "It was also very hard to obtain business ratings or reviews, and thankfully business information is much more accessible in America."

After Sergio made an initial investment with the last $300 of his bank account, he and Dirk started the company in 2014 using eBay and Dirk’s large Instagram presence, which has more than 500,000 followers. The two had the idea of starting something together and "making it big."

"From then on, Dirk and I invested every single penny into the company and recycled earnings that we made. We invested everything back into the company and now we have 60 products that’s growing to 120 by the end of this year," Sergio said in a phone interview with Red Alert Politics.

7 Truths Liberals Will Never Acknowledge About Illegal Immigration
[PJ] As Congress is gearing up to discuss a new amnesty, it’s striking how many falsehoods and bad assumptions made by liberals are driving the debate. Maybe it’s time to start talking about the truth.

1. Any sort of legalization or amnesty encourages more illegal aliens to come here
During the Reagan administration, we had a "one-time" amnesty that featured promises of security in return for three million illegals getting to become citizens. Today, most estimates seem to put the number of illegals in the United States somewhere between 11-12.5 million. In other words, seeing that we weren’t serious about enforcing our immigration laws led to more illegals than ever coming here in hopes of getting amnesty. If this amnesty goes through, we can expect to see the exact same problem repeated in a few decades.

2. A wall would make a major difference
A wall was never intended to be a fix for illegal immigration in and of itself. To the contrary, it’s a force multiplier. What we see everywhere that we have full fencing up is that illegals overwhelmingly avoid those areas. In other words, you can use a wall to direct illegals to certain areas and concentrate the border patrol in those areas. As we’ve seen in Israel and even around the White House and the Vatican, walls work. If you’re serious about stopping illegal immigration, you support a wall.

3. Illegal aliens hurt the poorest American workers
Because illegal aliens don’t need health insurance and car insurance and they can lie on their taxes to get the earned income tax credit, they can work cheaper than American workers. So, not only do the 11-12.5 million illegals outright take jobs that citizens would otherwise have, they drive wages down for all the workers competing with them. That’s Economics 101. When supply outstrips demand, the price drops.
Four more follow.

Economy
The Swiss Franc Offers a Refuge in Times of Conflict
[Human Events] The Swiss franc is the national currency of scenic Switzerland, a country that is known for its neutrality in international conflict, for its clockwork-like efficiency and for its reputation as a safe haven for protecting assets.

Investors who are extremely wary about the volatility of the stock market may opt to try to safeguard some of their money by purchasing Swiss francs through an exchange-traded fund (ETF), such as PowerShares CurrencyShares Swiss Franc Trust (NYSE:FXF). However, currency investing is a zero-sum game in which one form of money rises at the expense of another, so the usually modest gains and losses of currencies typically are fairly minor compared to the wide swings that can occur in a topsy-turvy stock market.

Unlike the U.S. dollar, which has been trending up in recent weeks, the Swiss franc has been losing value lately. The retreat of the "Swissie," the nickname for the currency not only of Switzerland but of neighboring Liechtenstein, had "gone largely unnoticed" by the market, particularly against the backdrop of rising tensions around global trade and protectionist policies of industrialized countries, according to a recent Bank of America research report.

There's A Reason Liberals Are Always So Angry
[Townhall] Have you ever wondered why rage seems to be "all the rage" with liberals these days? Every time you turn around there’s another march for this or protest against that; recycled chants about how something "has got to go," and a fawning media all too happy to report it as if it were news. It’s not news, of course, it’s a mass temper tantrum by political activists still unhappy their fellow Americans chose to reject Hillary Clinton in 2016. But there’s more to it than that, something strategic is at play.

Have you ever stubbed your toe and cursed in front of someone you otherwise would never consider using that kind of language in front of? Or gotten so mad while trying to fix something that you’ve ended up slamming it and making it worse? It’s likely you’ve done this or something similar because of one simple fact: emotion overrides logic.

When you’re angry or when you’re scared you aren’t thinking straight, you’re acting on emotion. That’s the state liberals have been keeping their base in since Donald Trump won the presidency.

To one degree or another, modern liberals have always used fear and anger to motivate their voters. After 9/11, Democrats ran on variations of "Republican policies are making us less safe." With the terror attacks of that September morning still fresh in people’s minds, that was not designed to inspire.

To hear liberals tell it, this country is fundamentally racist and killing the planet. They, however, are the gatekeepers of fixing it all. (Never mind the fact that cities where they’ve had complete control for generations ‐ Detroit, Chicago, Baltimore, etc. ‐ are used for backdrops for movies about post-apocalyptic futures because they require so little set construction.)

Afghanistan
Taliban, roaming Afghan cities amid Eid euphoria, rule out ceasefire extension
KABUL (Reuters) - Taliban militants headed into cities across Afghanistan on Sunday as they celebrated their Eid ceasefire with feasts and selfies, raising questions about what happens when the ceasefire ends at midnight.

President Ashraf Ghani said he would extend a government ceasefire on Saturday and urged the Taliban to do the same, garnering praise at home and international backing, but critics said such overtures have allowed the Taliban to pour into cities unchecked and win the upper hand.

But the Taliban said there would be no extension, adding that their members were expected to leave government-controlled areas before sunset.

Ghani had committed "a grave mistake" by allowing Taliban fighters to enter government-controlled areas, said Amarullah Saleh, a politician and former head of the National Directorate of Security.

Low-income black fathers want to be good dads. The man system won't let them
[Guardian] Four years ago the state of Illinois suspended the driver’s license of James (not his real name) for failing to fully meet his child support obligations, which he was not earning enough to pay. Now, unable to drive to work, he lost his full-time welding job. He found a lower-paid job he could reach using Chicago’s patchy suburban public transport system, which makes commuting difficult for people in some of the city’s economically isolated and racially segregated communities.

Today, James’ wages are still insufficient to pay off his mounting arrears, so he remains barred from driving. Ironically, his lack of driving privileges makes it impossible for him to cast a net for a better-paying job that would allow him to meet these payments. That paradox illustrates the regressive, counterproductive policies I have encountered during two decades of working with low-income black fathers in Chicago. The vast majority of these men desperately want to be good fathers, but the system seems to punish them for even trying.

In the US, a vexing confluence of historical, racial and economic inequalities prevents many such fathers from fulfilling their paternal roles. Yes, some men are unwilling to embrace their parental obligations. However, our social policies should not treat all low-income black fathers as deadbeat dads, nor suggest this is the norm or adopt this belief as the default position that should be assumed with respect to these fathers.

Economy
Non-'*hithole' Countries Seem To Recover Quickly From Disasters, Natural Or Man-Made
[Mercer] In 2008, Iceland collapsed under the weight of its banking industry’s federal-reserve like excesses.

In 2018, Iceland’s is a red hot economy. The highly able population has shifted from finance to technology and tourism. No bailout‐allowing the banks to collapse and a natural recovery take place‐has a lot to do with it.

"... rather than stepping in with taxpayers’ money like the British and Americans did, the Icelandic government let its banks go bust."

Likewise did Chile cope reasonably well with what was "one of the most powerful earthquakes in history." We hear nothing of Chile’s struggles to recover.

Not so Haiti, the Africa of the Western Hemisphere.

Haiti is forever convulsed by political and natural disasters. It remains the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, where four out of five people live in poverty and more than half in abject poverty (NYT).

It’s nearly two decades since a pair of earthquakes struck El Salvador in 2001. The US government granted Salvadoreans a generous grant of privilege in the late 1990s, in the form of a temporary protected status (TPS) for nearly 200,000.

Ditto the "Haitians who were stranded after an earthquake in 2010."

To the din of protest, "the United States’ Department of Homeland Security had only recently revoked the so-called temporary protection (it lasted nearly 2 decades).

"Shithole countries" is a Trump coinage.

Alan Dershowitz - The Final Nail In The ACLU's Coffin
[Jerusalem Post] The director of the American Civil Liberties Union has now acknowledged what should have been obvious to everybody over the past several years: that the ACLU is no longer a neutral defender of everyone’s civil liberties; it has morphed into a hyper-partisan, hard-left political advocacy group. The final nail in its coffin was the announcement that for the first time in its history the ACLU would become involved in partisan electoral politics, supporting candidates, referenda and other agenda-driven political goals.

The headline in the June 8 2018 edition of the New Yorker tells it all: "The ACLU is getting involved in elections ‐ and reinventing itself for the Trump Era." The article continues: In this midterm year, however, as progressive groups have mushroomed and grown more active, and as liberal billionaires such as Howard Schultz and Tom Steyer have begun to imagine themselves as political heroes and eye Presidential runs, the ACLU, itself newly flush, has begun to move in step with the times.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Head of Russia's Military Police in Israel to Discuss Syria
[Jerusalem Post] Russia’s Military Police Directorate head Vladimir Ivanovsky arrived in Israel late Friday to meet with officials here to discuss developments in Syria ahead of an expected offensive.

Ivanovsky, who is responsible for Russian forces deployed in Syria’s southern de-escalation zones, is set to meet with several senior IDF officers to discuss the withdrawal of all Iranian troops and Shi’ite militias from areas near Israel’s border, according to public broadcaster Kan.

On Friday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the phone and, according to Netanyahu’s office, the two discussed regional developments and the situation in Syria.

A statement released by the Kremlin read that the two leaders agreed to strengthen coordination on Syria as well as to joint efforts to ensure security in the area of the Israeli-Syrian border.

According to Israeli intelligence estimates, there are thousands of Iranian advisers and Revolutionary Guard Corps officers in Syria; 9,000 Shi’ite militia fighters from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq; and another 7,000 Hezbollah fighters.

Jerusalem has repeatedly said it would not allow Iran to set up a permanent presence in Syria, and Russia has deployed military police to monitor several de-escalation zones there, including one watch post near Israel’s Golan Heights, which was established last year in a cease-fire brokered by Russia and the US.

Israeli Air Force Attacks 'Leader of Gaza Cell Behind Burning Kites'
[Haaretz] The Israeli army confirmed Sunday it struck the vehicle of one of the leaders of the incendiary kites unit in Gaza. This was in response to a string of kites and balloons with explosives launched at Israel in recent days, the army said.

No wounded have been reported thus far.

On Saturday, the Israeli army said it carried out a drone strike near residents of the Gaza Strip who were launching incendiary balloons into Israel. Two people were wounded in the strike, according to the Health Ministry in Gaza.

Capitalism is killing the planet and needs to change, says investor Jeremy Grantham
[CNBC] Jeremy Grantham, the longtime investor famous for calling the last two major bubbles in the market, is urging capitalists and "mainstream economists" to recognize the looming threat of climate change.

"Capitalism and mainstream economics simply cannot deal with these problems. Mainstream economics largely ignore [them]," Grantham, who co-founded GMO in 1977, said Tuesday in an impassioned speech at the Morningstar Investment Conference in Chicago. "We deforest the land, we degrade our soils, we pollute and overuse our water and we treat air like an open sewer, and we do it all off the balance sheet."

This negligence is due in large part to how short-sighted corporations can be, Grantham said. "Anything that happens to a corporation over 25 years out doesn't exist for them, therefore, as I like to say, grandchildren have no value" to them, he said.

D.C. Area Witches Unite for Gun Control, Hurl Curses at the NRA
[NRA-ILA] Gun control advocates can now boast of a new group of allies joining their dubious coalition: witches.

It kind of makes sense. We all know that gun control is based mainly on magical thinking.

Its advocates, after all, ask us to believe we’re just a few more "commonsense safety measures" away from a world in which evil people who are otherwise determined to kill others refrain from doing so for fear they might violate a gun control law somewhere along the way.

A related premise is that gun control advocates hold the keys to ending violent behavior once and for all, if only the NRA would release its stranglehold on elected officials and taxpayers would pony up the money for "studies" to substantiate their agenda.

According to website wildhunt.org ‐ which features "modern pagan news & commentary" ‐ "documentary filmmaker" Patrick J. Foust has captured a "spellbinding on Donald Trump and the NRA" led by self-described witch David Salisbury.

Pope Francis: Abortion is 'The Same As the Nazis'
[Daily Caller] Pope Francis likened abortion doctors and advocates to Nazis on Saturday in a statement that is rocking the world with its fiery tenor.

"We do the same as the Nazis to maintain the purity of the race, but with white gloves on," the head of the Catholic Church said in an address to the Forum of Family Associations on its 25-year anniversary, according to USA Today. "It is fashionable, or at least usual, that when in the first few months of a pregnancy doctors do studies to see if the child is healthy or has something, the first idea is: ’Let’s send it away,'" the pope also said.

Francis remained silent following Ireland’s May 26 vote to legalize abortions in the Catholic country until Saturday. The pope’s home country, Argentina, is also moving towards legalizing abortion. Its lower chamber of Congress voted Thursday to legalize abortion up to 14 weeks in pregnancy and will require ratification by the Senate to become law.

Three Would-Be Grocery Store Robbers Receive Unexpected Body Ventilation
[Daily Caller] Three would-be armed robbers approached the wrong couple outside a DeKalb County Kroger store on Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. Friday, according to Atlanta’s WSB-TV, when three assailants followed a couple out of a Kroger grocery store. (RELATED: Assailant Tried To Rape His Friend’s Mother ‐ Then She Found Her Pistol)

"We believe that there may have been some sort of crime that was intended to happen at that time, whether it was a robbery or a carjacking, we really don’t know right now," said DeKalb County Police Department spokesperson Shiera Campbell.

What the robbers didn’t expect, however, was for their intended victims to fight back. The man pulled out his concealed weapon and shot at the assailants, according to Campbell. (RELATED: Felon Pulls Out Weapon To Threaten Two People, Gets Shot By Concealed Carry Holder)

After a shootout, the couple was unharmed while all three robbers received bullet wounds.

Another Father's Day, and so many kids without fathers around
[American Thinker] As we celebrate Father's Day, I thank God that I had a mentor in my life, the kind of man who understood what it means to be a father. Not everyone is so lucky. So let's chat about the "father crisis" in many communities in the U.S.

Ten years ago, I cut out this article from the Wall Street Journal paper edition. I saved it and look at it from time. It was written by Juan Williams, author and Fox News contributor. It is "The Tragedy of America's Disappearing Fathers":

The extent of the problem is clear.

The nation's out-of-wedlock birth rate is 38%.

Among white children, 28% are now born to a single mother; among Hispanic children it is 50% and reaches a chilling, disorienting peak of 71% for black children.

According to the National Center for Health Statistics, nearly a quarter of America's white children (22%) do not have any male in their homes; nearly a third (31%) of Hispanic children and over half of black children (56%) are fatherless.
This represents a dramatic shift in American life.

In the early 1960's, only 2.3% of white children and 24% of black children were born to a single mom.

Having a dad, in short, is now a privilege, a ticket to middle-class status on par with getting into a good college.

Kids suffer without a father, no matter their color or last name.

Father's Day is here. Let's remember a simple truth: we need men to be responsible fathers.

The Media - Why Do They Hate Us?
[American Thinker] A new study by the Washington Times shows that 90% of the broadcast coverage of President Trump remains negative, even after the accomplishments of his first 500 days. Certainly, the so-called intelligentsia hate Donald Trump, but they hate Trump not just as an individual ‐ they hate him because he sides with us.

They've hated us ‐ those heartland Americans clinging to our guns and religion ‐ long before Trump came along and will do so long after he is gone. The Justice Department's I.G. report has confirmed widespread prejudice among top Justice and FBI officials, but it's a mistake to think this bias is directed against Trump per se. Officials like Peter Strzok were intent on "stopping" Trump, but stopping him from doing what? Stopping him from restoring the right of ordinary Americans to govern their country?

There exists among progressives a widespread culture of intolerance and hatred directed at the middle class. I'm not the only one, I'm sure, who finds the behavior of Robert De Niro, Jimmy Kimmell, Joy Behar, and the rest of them repellant.

With the Trump presidency, everyday citizens have gained a voice in Washington. At exactly the same time, media attacks on these Americans have exploded. The inference is clear: Hollywood, the mainstream media, and academe believe that ordinary Americans must be silenced. Only the "smart" ones, as leftists consider themselves, have a right to be heard. The left is attempting to silence the opposition and has been doing so for a long time.

The problem is that, in the end, silencing the opposition involves the use of force. It's bad enough to "censor" one's opponent, as the fake news does every minute with lies and omissions and outrageous claims.

The media were hoping Trump would fail at the Singapore summit. Now that he has succeeded, that success is not being reported. All that CNN could say of the historic success is that Trump's achievement "appeared to upend decades of US policy in Asia." The suggestion that the U.S. may "eventually" remove troops from the DMZ "will likely spark concern in Tokyo and Seoul," CNN opined. That's it? It's better to stick with the status quo and allow North Korea to assemble a large nuclear arsenal and the ICBMs to deliver it than to change U.S. policy? (This wisdom, by the way, was the work of Joshua Berlinger, a 2012 graduate of Tufts University and "video editor," among other titles, at CNN. Not exactly Walter Cronkite.)

There are many ways of silencing the opposition, including the covert activities of the FBI and DOJ. If they hate us that much, they feel justified in using any means necessary, no matter how improper or illegal. All of this is driven by the contempt progressives feel for "lesser" Americans.

2 Palestinians flying incendiary ballons from Gaza hurt in IAF drone strike
[Ynet] 20 fires break out in Israeli border communities as sweltering heat exacerbates situation; one blaze that broke out near Kissufim spread toward an IDF base but stopped on time; none hurt in the fires, but damage was caused to crops and vegetation.

At least two Paleostinians flying incendiary ballons from Gazoo were hurt in an Israeli dronezap east of Bureij on Saturday, media in the strip report. The IDF confirmed the strike, but said it only fired warning shots.

One of the Paleostinians is said to be moderately maimed.

The incendiary balloons and kites caused 20 fires in Israeli communities near the Gazoo border on Saturday, with the sweltering heat further exacerbating the blazes. No one was hurt in any of the fires, but damage was caused to crops.

The first fire broke out in the Kissufim area and spread to nearby groves, drawing near an IDF base. Firefighters and security coordinators were able to stop the flames at the last moment.

Firefighters also prevented a blaze from spreading towards seed storage depots in the Eshkol Regional Council.

Later in the day, two additional fires broke out in the Kurkar Hills Nature Reserve, near Kibbutz Nir Am, and near the train tracks in the Sderot area. Another conflagration broke out near Kerem Shalom.

In addition to crops and groves, beehives also caught fire in one of the communities on the Gazoo border, while reptiles in the area paid the price as well.

How IDF foils Hamas’s naval designs
[Ynet] As terror groups in Gazoo push to build up maritime strength, training hundreds of divers for Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,'s elite Nukhba naval commandos, Israel's 916th Division carries out numerous attacks on plethora of targets, including vessels and naval outposts to weaken terror group’s ’strength and will.’

The IDF’s 916th Division‐which is responsible for the maritime sphere around the Gazoo Strip and for the elite naval commando Shayetet 13 unit‐has been focusing in recent months on thwarting Hamas’s continuous attempts to launch attacks on Israel via the sea, as the terror group pushes to build up its capabilities.

The unit carried out last year many joint operation against terror targets in Gazoo, with a focus on Hamas and Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
’s endeavors to develop their naval capabilities.

"Around 50 per cent of the targets attacked from the air by the Israel Air Force during the last round of escalation two weeks ago were naval targets belonging to Hamas, including naval outposts and sea vessels," a senior naval officer said.

"The attacks are designed to weaken Hamas’s military strength, as well as its will, as we approach the next conflict, and to distance the next round."

The unit, which operates from a military base in Ashdod, was recently awarded the joint certificate of appreciation by Israel Navy Commander Maj. Gen. Eli Sharvit.

At the beginning of the week, it was cleared for publication that IAF fighter jets bombed a terror tunnel in northern Gazoo a week-and-a-half ago, which was meant to be used by Hamas's elite Nukhba naval commandos to secretly go underwater.

The tunnel dug by Hamas for its naval forces was only part of the commando operations it had undertaken since Operation Protective Edge in 2014.

Other attempts to beef up its naval presence, despite the IDF’s continued bombardments on its progress, have included commando training exercises lasting a fortnight, arming with secret diving equipment and creating quality and elite forces for the Nukhba in a bid to launch amphibious assaults on Israeli coastal targets.

In addition, Hamas naval forces are in a continuous process of training hundreds of divers to attain a lower level than that required for the Nukhba but who will still be able to participate in terror missions during the next military confrontation.

Notwithstanding the clandestine operations carried out by Israel’s navy against the unfettered strengthening of Hamas’s amphibious capabilities, since Protective Edge, the Navy has deployed a system of sensors along the maritime border detecting and alerting the troops to any suspicious movements in the water.

This system has been upgraded in recent years, passed many tests successfully, and Navy forces from the Ashdod base have already on several occasions dropped explosives in the water targeting the divers, whenever suspicious underwater movement was detected.

In addition, over the past month, the Defense Ministry started work on an underwater obstacle against Hamas's commando forces, which will make use of the sensors system and include a breakwater in the Netiv HaAsara area.

Parents are hit with $132,000 bill after their five-year-old knocks over a glass sculpture while 'hugging' it
[DailyMail] A boy's parents have been hit with a $132,000 bill after he accidentally knocked over a glass sculpture by hugging it.

The boy was at a wedding reception at Overland Park community center in Kansas City, Kansas
"The Louvre of Kansas",
where Aphrodite di Kansas City, a glass and mirror sculpture, was on display on May 19.

Surveillance footage shows him toddling up towards it and wrapping his arms around it while his mother Shannon Goodman and other adults chat on sofas nearby.

He accidentally pulled it towards him and it toppled over on to him, causing damage to the back of the figure's head and arms.

It left him with scratches on his face. In the video, he sheepishly looked towards his mother after the accident.

Now, the artist Bill Lyons wants to be reimbursed for the money he says he has lost because he can't sell it.

This is the sculpture the boy knocked over. It is called Aphrodite Di Kansas City and is made of glass and pieces of mirror. The artist says the top of it was damaged when he pulled it over.

This is the sculpture the boy knocked over. It is called Aphrodite Di Kansas City and is made of glass and pieces of mirror. The artist says the top of it was damaged when he pulled it over

He estimated its worth to be $132,000.
Because $133k would be "excessive?"
Lyons had loaned the sculpture to the city of Overland Park to put on display. It was the city's representatives who contacted Goodman asking for her to pay.

She had expected the sculpture to be much less valuable and was stunned when she received a letter from the city's insurance company.

'It’s clear accidents happen and this was an accident. I don’t want to diminish the value of their art. But I can’t pay for that,' she told The Kansas City Star.

She explained that she was saying goodbye to the bride's father when her son wandered off towards the statue but insisted he and his three siblings, who were also there, are always well behaved.

'He probably hugged it.

'Maybe my son hugged a torso because he’s a loving, sweet nice boy who just graduated from preschool.'
And he'll never be familiar with the concept of "allowance."
A spokesman for the city of Overland Park said it had filed a claim with Travelers, its insurance company.

'The city has a responsibility to file a claim with our insurance company, and we do that any time city property is damaged.
City Property, but it is the artist who established value? Must be an interesting contract of sale.
'It will be up to the insurance companies to get this worked out,' they said.
Oh, to be a fly on the wall.
Lyons, the artist, said: 'I want to be reimbursed for the amount of time that I spent on it and for what I think it is worth.'
His income tax returns will be an important doc in part establishing value. Unless Mr Lyons has had a recent spurt of popularity.

#8  Looks like a disco ball had some bad cheese and crapped this out.

Gallery has fault here; lucky the kid didn't get hurt with some 15 pounds of glass falling on him. High traffic area, high traffic building. Could just as easily been a purse strap or an errant gesture or a drunk step.

The gallery should have insurance for transportation and display damage. If I were the insurance provider I would be pissed.

If the artist lent the piece without assurances of damage coverage in paper then Bill is an idiot. And Billy, purchaser decides worth. I'd think something like that $20k at best; anything more is additional value because of the artist, the look who I have on display worth. Maybe naming the piece something else would help; dunno.

Now the parents' are at fault here too, what monetary and legal is the question. Kid is certainly old enough to know to not go tugging on thing and is lucky he isn't a bowl of soup. They failed to identify risks, and failed to keep track of their large toddler. Not just fighting off rabid bobcat risks, but taking children to a known quasi-art gallery and here they broke something, and now have their financial health in the scales vs. The City of Overland Park.

Loser here is going to be Billy when he has his stuff appraised by the insurance company at 1/10th its value, out a product, and an ignominious introduction to the larger stage.

‘The worst devastation I’ve seen’ -- Angelina Jolie visits Mosul on Eid
[ALMASDARNEWS] American actress and UN Refugee Agency Special Envoy visited West Mosul on Saturday, less than a year after the city’s liberation following years of self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL).

Jolie walked though the ruined buildings and streets in the Old City, meeting with displaced families as they try to piece their lives back together.

“This is the worst devastation I have seen in all my years with UNHCR,” Jolie said. “Yet they are so happy because the last Eid they were under occupation and suffering and this Eid they have nothing, but they are free.”

'Unauthorised' man's entry into Kulsoom Nawaz's hospital room sparks alarm
[DAWN] The family today was alerted to the presence of an unidentified individual in the hospital room of Begum Kulsoom ─ who, according to Maryam Nawaz, remains unresponsive.

Hussain Nawaz, quoted by Geo TV, said: "This man fooled security and managed to reach Begum Kulsoom's room."

Hussain said he didn't know who the man was, adding: "Even if he is a doctor, it does not mean that he can enter a place he has no concern with."

The former prime minister's son said that the family was already worried, and that this incident had caused further distress to them.

In a video shared on Twitter, the man identified himself as Naveed. He told DawnNewsTV that he is a doctor with a medical practitioner's ID card.

He had allegedly been spotted in the vicinity of the clinic at 9am and went in around 10am when it opened this morning.

Hussain said he had immediately alerted security, who then called the police.

The man, his identity and the circumstances of his entry into the clinic, were inquired into by the police. He was let off with a warning after his medical practitioners' ID card was scrutinised and police did not find him guilty of a criminal offence.

Naveed told DawnNewsTV that he wished to inquire after Begum Kulsoom "in his capacity as a Pak".

In the video, upon being questioned, he said: "I went to meet her [...] I haven't done anything wrong."

When questioned about this political affiliation, Naveed said that he was a former member of the Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
, reiterating that he was there to "support the Sharif family".

Rob Reiner denounces Robert De Niro, celebrities for anti-Trump remarks
[THEHILL] Director Rob Reiner denounced Robert De Niro and other celebrities for their remarks against President Trump, saying it only helps the president.
Perceptive.
During an exclusive interview with The Hill’s new TV show "Rising," which aired on Wednesday, Reiner addressed the controversy surrounding actor Robert De Niro’s "F---Trump" speech during the Tony Awards on Sunday.

De Niro called the president a "f---ing idiot" and a "f---ing fool," which was met with a standing ovation.

"You’re helping Trump by saying ’F--- Trump,’ because he can say 'look at these people, these elitists,' " Reiner told "Rising" co-hosts Krystal Ball and Buck Sexton.

Reiner said he thinks celebrities are ultimately hurting Democrats when they go on expletive-ridden rants against Trump.

"There’s a very fine line between energizing the base and energizing the other side," Reiner said.

Trump responded to De Niro’s rant two days later, saying the Academy Award-winning actor was "a very Low IQ individual" and suggesting he had "received too many shots to the head," in his roles playing boxers.

Israel in $1.2 billion drone deal with Germany
[PRESSTV] Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has thanked German Chancellor Angela Merkel for her efforts in the approval of a more than one-billion-dollar deal to lease military drones from Israel.

Netanyahu said the approval of the accord – an estimated 1.2 billion dollars worth -- by Germany's parliament to lease Israeli-built surveillance drones for nine years would strengthen bilateral security relations between Berlin and Tel Aviv.

“I want to personally thank Chancellor Merkel, with whom I spoke only ten days ago on the subject. She told me she’d pass it on to parliament and she did,” the Israeli premier said.

"It's a huge deal. It has implications first of all on our defense industry and the Israeli economy, but also the continued strengthening security ties between Germany and Israel. Germany helps Israel and Israel also helps Germany," he added.

The leasing program is said to cover five Israeli-built Heron-TP reconnaissance drones capable of carrying missiles and will continue until European-built models are ready for operation around 2025.

The accord met with opposition last year from the center-left Social Democrats (SPD), who are partners in the ruling coalition, as the German military currently uses a different model of Heron drones that cannot be armed with weapons.

Oxfam to cut projects, staff after Haiti sex scandal
[PRESSTV] British charity Oxfam has reportedly announced that it will reduce some of its overseas aid programs and lay off a number of staff due to a drop in funding after the Haiti sex scandal.

The charity has faced a public backlash over claims that its staff exploited female victims in the wake of a catastrophic earthquake in Haiti in 2010. After the sex scandal emerged, thousands of people stopped making regular donations and the UK government suspended its funding to the charity.

According to an internal document seen by British paper The Guardian on Friday, Oxfam has told staff it will urgently need to make savings of about 21 million dollars a year and scale back the number of its aid projects abroad.

The seven-page document, which is marked confidential, said the aid organization would "have to save substantial amounts of money to put [us] on a more stable and sustainable footing."

The document circulated by the chief executive of Oxfam, Mark Goldring, also said, "It is clear ... that the size of our programs will be substantially reduced for this year and next ... this means making tough choices," adding that job losses were "inevitable."

Local billionaire to take control of the LA Times Monday
[YAHOO] A biotech billionaire who purchased the Los Angeles Times with an eye toward restoring its independence and vigor will officially take control of the news organization Monday, the newspaper reports .

Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong (soon-shong) is spending $500 million to buy The Times, San Diego Union-Tibune, Spanish-language newspaper Hoy and some community newspapers from reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
-based Tronc.

The deal, announced Feb. 7, returns The Times to local ownership after nearly two decades under rocky Chicago control. The newsroom has been led by three editors in 10 months and five publishers in four years.

Soon-Shiong, 65, will become executive chairman of the Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, News Group.

He plans to move the newsroom from its iconic downtown headquarters to a modern building under construction 12 miles (19.3 kilometers) south in suburban El Segundo. The property will include a Times museum gallery, event and retail space.

Soon-Shiong takes on a storied yet diminished news organization that once had more than 1,200 journalists and more than 25 foreign bureaus. Now, The Times employs about 400 journalists with bureaus in Sacramento, Washington and some foreign and national outposts.

Newspapers across the country have struggled as readers and advertisers flock to the internet. Soon-Shiong has promised to rebuild The Times.

"The last three months has been an amazing experience for me to really learn ‐ I mean on a steep learning curve ‐ about all the elements that are affecting this industry," he said after signing paperwork to finalize the purchase.

Europe
I Think They Get It Now, Part Deux: France. Let's talk about the French strategic position.
As before, just a snip, click through for the whole thing. Part III tomorrow.
French President Emmanuel Macron is a bit aggravated these days. He went out of his way to court a personal relationship with U.S. President Donald Trump with the belief that chumminess would enable him to tilt American policy decisions. Between the Iran nuclear deal, steel and aluminum tariffs, the Paris Climate Accords and now the G7 debacle, Macron has learned otherwise. Social lubricant in international politics can be important, but it rarely trumps policy and national interests. The Americans have shifted from an alliance-based to a transactional foreign policy, and a parade followed by a firm handshake and a nice dinner just isn’t strong enough currency.

So, atmospherics aside, let’s talk about the French strategic position.

The French think of the European Union as theirs, and with good reason. They are, after all, the people who made it. With the end of World War II the Austrians, Germans and Italians were occupied, the Low Countries were rebuilding from rubble, the Swedes and Swiss were neutral, the Spanish were languishing under a local despot, and all Central Europe was locked away on the other side of the Iron Curtain. The strategic competition that had dominated the past millennia of European history was on hiatus, and the French found it almost too easy to force their political will on a shattered continent. And so Paris pulled together Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg to create the European Coal and Steel Community, which a dozen treaties later evolved into what we now know as the European Union.

But for the French it was never about economics. The French metropolitan territories are rich. Phenomenally productive farmland. A wealth of inhabitable climate zones. Great rivers for industry and internal transport. A population far younger and aging far more slowly than the European norm. The French economy has always been held mostly in house, and the Cold War era was no exception.

France also boasts easy access to the North Sea, Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea, giving France ‐ and France alone ‐ fingers in every pot that matters to Europe. France’s position near the westernmost extreme of the European Peninsula even grants it good strategic depth, even if that "depth" belongs to other countries.

French strategic isolation freed up French defense planning to focus on the far horizon, as evidenced by France’s nuclear aircraft carrier and nuclear missile force. Nearly alone among the European states, the French do not need someone to defend them. It all means that the French didn’t really see a huge attraction to the Americans’ Bretton Woods plan.

The French know full well that should the Americans walk away from Bretton Woods, the global security that enables the European Union ‐ which is at heart a union of exporters dependent upon global access ‐ would no longer be possible. That obviously upsets Macron, but it doesn’t overly hurt France. Just as the Americans designed the world order for strategic reasons and so never lashed their economy to Bretton Woods, the French designed the EU for strategic reasons and so never lashed their economy to Europe.

Any global breakdown, even a European breakdown, is one that France can survive without the sort of catastrophic and transformative economic, political, cultural and strategic shocks that will so ravage almost everyone else.

From South Front:

The Project 11711 large amphibious assault ship Ivan Gren will enter service with the Russian Navy by the end of June, 2018, according to the state-run media.

The Ivan Gren is a leading ship of the class, built at the Yantar Shipyard on the Baltic coast. The warship was laid down by the Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad in west Russia in December 2004 and launched in May 2012. The ship’s sea trials started in June 2016.

The Ivan Gren officially finished state trials on June 2.

The amphibious assault ship can carry 13 battle tanks, 36 armored personnel carriers or infantry fighting vehicles or up to 300 marines. The Ivan Gren is also capable of transporting a reinforced marine infantry company with organic military hardware and land it with the use of pontoons.

The Ivan Gren’s deck hangars allow the usage of two Ka-29 transport attack helicopters.

The Yantar Shipyard is currently building another Ivan Gren-class warhip, the Pyotr Morgunov. This warship is expected to be delivered to the Russian Navy in late 2018.

The worst movie of the year so far, the long-awaited biopic about the Gambino crime boss’ rise from made man to top dog took four directors, 44 producers and eight years to make.

It shows. The finished product belongs in a cement bucket at the bottom of the river.

Keeping this mafioso mess alive throughout all the turmoil has been John Travolta, playing John Gotti. Travolta, who’s made a career out of Italian stereotypes, obviously thought the Dapper Don would be his Don Corleone. It’s his Chef Boyardee.

The film bounces between 36 years of events seemingly at random and with the flimsiest of context. Call it "Whack to the Future." We move from 1979 to 2009 to 1983 and back to 1979. We meet Frank DeCicco, Angelo Ruggiero, Sammy Gravano and about a million more mobsters who we never learn anything ‐ or care ‐ about. We move from Massapequa to Little Italia to Queens but rarely see the same place twice.

Just two events are clearly presented: The 1980 death of 12-year-old Frank Gotti by car and the shooting of Gambino boss Paul Castellano outside Sparks Steak House in 1985.

The rest is an excuse for Travolta to shmact and for his wife, Kelly Preston ‐ playing Gotti’s wife, Victoria ‐ to howl like Medea.

As Junior, Spencer Rocco Lofranco is OK. He, at least, thinks through his role instead of rabidly twitching like Travolta. But he’s also 25 and appears 17. While Junior’s being indicted in 2009, Lofranco looks like Macaulay Culkin’s parents forgot him in a courtroom.

It’s the worst mob movie ever, but I see a bright future in midnight showings. "The Gotti Horror Picture Show."

#3  Don't just take his word for it:

“Gotti” has a zero far on Rotten Tomatoes. I’d give it a 10 or 15. As a New Yorker and a fan of “The Godfather,” I dig the mob lore, the Little Italy social clubs, and the whole story of the Castellano hit at Sparks Steak House– but as fiction, not as real life. But the gratuitous violence– hey this stuff really happened, and it wasn’t funny to the victims. And it’s not so funny seeing it rationalized here.

Merkel is fighting for her political life as Bavarian interior minister wants tough immigration policy
Angela Merkel’s government is fighting for its political life as a row over immigration and asylum policy threatens a historic split in the German chancellor’s conservative bloc.

Ms Merkel’s allies in the state of Bavaria, the CSU party, are pushing a new plan that would turn away more asylum seekers at Germany’s borders ‐ at odds with her welcoming refugee policy.

The CSU, which is traditionally more conservative than the CDU party that organises in the rest of Germany, lost ground to the far-right AfD in parliamentary elections last year and fears a repeat in regional elections in October.

The contentious new immigration policy, designed in part to head-off the AfD, was proposed by Ms Merkel’s CSU interior minister Horst Seehofer, but its publication has been suspended after an intervention behind the scenes from Ms Merkel.

The plan would see refugees turned away at the borders if they were already registered in another EU country or lacked the correct documentation. But the chancellor is loathe to take any action that is not coordinated with Germany’s EU allies and reportedly sees the country’s approach to asylum as a part of her legacy.
Globalists fighting tooth and nail to try and outnumber and outvote Westerners in their own countries. Good luck to you in Germany, may sanity break out at last.

Yes probably, but I can also see the following scenario:

Ukraine: Far-right Azov Battalion hold parade for fourth ‘victory’ anniversary
[ALMASDARNEWS] The far-right nationalist Azov Battalion held a military parade in central Mariupol, eastern Ukraine, on Saturday, celebrating the fourth anniversary of reclaiming territory from anti-government forces, the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic.

The founder of the Azov Battalion Andrei Biletsky addressed to the hundreds of residents, gathered at the Freedom Square for the ’Liberated Mariupol’ festival.

"The fate of Donetsk, Gorlovka, Lugansk, Novoazovsk will be solved by victories of the Ukrainian army. Our country has only two ways or to break under external pressure, surrender their positions step by step, reconcile with this and then everyone will wipe feet on us or fight and win," said Biletsky.

According to the official media wing of the Houthi forces, their troops are still in full control of the Hodeideh Airport after another battle with the UAE-backed Southern Resistance Army and Yemeni Elite Republican Guard.

Contrasting the Houthi claims are several pro-government activists, including Sky News Arabia and other pro-Saudi media outlets.

Sky News Arabia has claimed that the Southern Resistance Army and Yemeni Elite Republican Guard seized the southern and western parts of the Hodeideh Airport.

NOC evacuates Sidra and Ras Lanuf after fighting erupts in area
[Libya Herald] Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced that it has today evacuated all staff from both Sidra and Ras Lanuf oil installations in Libya’s north-eastern oil crescent.

The news comes after former Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG) Central Region Commander Ibrahim Jadran launched a militia attack on the oil crescent this morning. There are unconfirmed reports that he has taken control of both Sidra and Ras Lanuf from the Khalifa Hafter-aligned Libyan National Army (LNA).

Jadran had been in control of the region and had imposed an embargo on oil production and exports prior to being ejected from the area by an attack by Hafter’s LNA in September 2016.

Unconfirmed reports say that at least one oil storage tank has been hit and is on fire. The NOC has not confirmed these reports.

Two days ago, there were unconfirmed reports in Libyan media that Jadran and his allied forces were gathering near the oil crescent poised for a possible attack. There were even reports that Hafter had transferred some troops from Derna to the region to counter the possible threat.

Jadran announced the launch of his operation in a seven-minute video circulating on social media. In it he claimed to be freeing the region from the ’’terrorist and Death Eater’’ Karama (Dignity) forces aligned to Hafter and to end the ’’injustice’’ in the oil crescent.

Jadran claimed he was backed by his local Magharba tribe and the Tebu tribe. However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
there are reports that he has been backed by the Benghazi Defence Brigades (BDB), the arch-enemies of Hafter and his Karama movement who had been forcibly evicted from Benghazi. Unconfirmed reports also say that he has some rebel Chadian forces participating in his attack ‐ rather than any Tebu forces.

It is thought that Jadran and his allies attacked the oil crescent area believing that Hafter’s forces are spread thin and occupied in the war in Derna or in order to relieve pressure on the ant-Hafter Derna Mujahidine forces.

In its official statement, the NOC said that the loss in oil production as a result of the shut-down is expected to be around 240,000 bpd and a planned tanker entry today to Sidra port had been postponed.

It said that he NOC board was currently meeting and following the situation closely. It called for individuals or political groups who attempt to capture Libya’s oil installations, blockade production, or attempt to make NOC a bargaining chip ‐ to be brought to justice.

The blast in the town of Ghazi Aminullah Khan maimed at least 54 others ─ including Taliban, security forces and civilians ─ who were marking the suspension of fighting in Nangarhar's Rodat district, according to Attaullah Khogyani, front man for the provincial governor, Tolo News reported.

Dozens of unarmed Talibs had earlier entered the Afghan capital and other cities to celebrate Eid. Afghan cops and civilians hugged and took selfies with each other across the country, in an outpouring of emotion over the ceasefire.

"A suicide bomber detonated among people, security forces and Taliban who were celebrating the ceasefire," provincial governor front man Attaullah Khogyani told AFP.

group grabbed credit for the attack. The group's Amaq news agency said the target was "a gathering of Afghan forces" but gave no details. The Taliban had already denied involvement.

The Taliban had announced a ceasefire for the first three days of Eid, which started on Friday, promising not to attack Afghan cops for the first time since the 2001 US invasion. They said they would continue attacking US-led NATO

1 dead, multiple wounded as Indian troops fire at anti-India protesters in held Kashmir
[DAWN] At least one person was killed and about two dozen others maimed on Saturday in festivities between Indian forces and demonstrators as protests against Indian rule erupted in India-held Kashmire shortly after Eid prayers, police and residents said.
"Havildar Dawood!"
"Sir!"
"Give them a whiff of birdshot!"

Shouting "Go India, go back" and "We want freedom," hundreds of people began marching in the southern Anantnag area but were confronted by government forces firing tear gas, leading to festivities with stone-throwing protesters.

The use of force intensified as the protesters barraged police and paramilitary soldiers with a hail of stones while the troops fired shotgun pellets, injuring at least 17 people.

One young man among the injured died at a hospital. He suffered pellet injuries in his head and throat while at least nine other men among the injured were hit by pellets in their eyes, medics said.

Three soldiers martyred in attacks on border posts
[DAWN] Three army soldiers were martyred and five turbans killed in attacks from across the Pak-Afghan border on military posts in North Wazoo district on Friday, sources said.

Military officials said murderous Moslems attacked army posts along the border in the Shawal area of the district in an apparent attempt to overrun them.

The army men deployed at the posts, however, managed to repulse the attacks. Five of the assailants were killed in the process.

According to the officials, three army soldiers embraced martyrdom in the shootout ‐ Havaldar Iftikhar, a resident of Sargodha; Sepoy Aftab, who hailed from Chitral; and Sepoy Usman of Gujrat. Caretaker Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk expressed grief over the loss of three precious lives of Pakistain Army officials who embraced martyrdom in Shawal while repelling the terrorist attack on the posts from across the border, according to a PM House statement.

Venezuela: 17 killed in Caracas club stampede
[Al Jazeera] At least 17 people, including eight minors, have been killed after the detonation of a tear gas device inside a crowded club in Venezuela's capital, Caracas, according to officials.

The incident on Saturday morning occurred after a middle school graduation party degenerated into a brawl and someone detonated the tear gas, according to Interior and Justice Minister Nestor Reverol.

The detonation set off a stampede, with more than 500 people rushing for the exits of the Los Cotorros club in the middle-class neighbourhood of El Paraiso.

Official reports said the victims died of suffocation or multiple trauma.

Eight of those killed were younger than 18, said Reverol. Five people were maimed and taken to hospital for treatment.

Outside the club, several mismatched shoes lay on the sidewalk.

"All I know is my son is dead," Nilson Guerra, 43, told local journalists.

Reverol did not give any motive behind the brawl.

"The establishment has been ordered closed, and we are investigating in coordination with the public ministry, which is directing the criminal investigation," Reverol said.

Inside Shelter for Illegal Alien Children Separated from Parents
[BREITBART] The Department of Health and Human Services hosted Breitbart News and other media on a tour of a facility in El Cajon, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, on Friday where migrant children are being sheltered after being separated from their parents.

The children are separated from their parents ‐ or, to be precise, from the adults accompanying them, who may or may not be their parents ‐ when their parents cross the southern U.S. border illegally and are caught and detained.

Previously, under the "catch-and-release" policy, the adults would be released. Under the "zero tolerance" policy of the Trump administration, the adults are being detained and prosecuted. Children cannot be incarcerated with them.

Saudi-led Coalition forces enter Hodeidah Airport in Yemen
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Yemeni military backed by the Saudi-led coalition launched an offensive to seize Hodeidah from the Houthis on June 13 after the Shiite rebels had failed to respond to the government’s offer to withdraw from the port city in order to peacefully resolve the conflict.

According to Reuters citing the media office of the Saudi-led coalition-backed Yemeni military, the Arab alliance’s forces have gained control over the key Yemeni airport of Hodeidah.

The media office said on its Twitter account that after the Saudi-led coalition had entered the airport, demining teams have arrived in the area.

On Wednesday, the Yemeni forces backed by the Saudi-led coalition launched an offensive to capture the airport and surrounding area from the Yemeni Shiite rebels after the Houthis failed to respond to the government’s offer to withdraw from the port city in order to peacefully resolve the conflict.

Amid the fighting, various international organizations and rights groups have called on the Yemeni warring parties to exercise restraint amid increasing hostilities in the city.

The city of Hodeidah is one of the most densely populated Yemeni areas, with its port being vital for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Middle Eastern country, devastated by three years of conflict between the government and the Houthis.

Yemen has been engulfed in a violent conflict between the government headed by Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi and the Houthi Shiite movement.

Since March 2015, the Saudi-led coalition of mostly Persian Gulf countries has been carrying out airstrikes against the Houthis at Hadi’s request.

Suspect in Orangi bus arson attack acquitted
[DAWN] An antiterrorism court has acquitted an accused in a case pertaining to alleged arson attack on a passenger bus in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
The ATC judge, who is conducting the trial in the judicial complex inside the Central Jail Karachi, pronounced the judgement after recording evidence and concluding arguments from both sides.

The judge found Ismail, alias Bhayanak, not guilty of the charges levelled against him by the prosecution.

The court noted in its order that the prosecution had failed to establish the allegations, as the evidence produced during the trial was not sufficient to connect him with the commissioning of the offence.

Therefore, the judge acquitted Ismail and directed the prison authorities to release him forthwith in case his custody was not required in any other case.

According to the prosecution, Ismail, alias Bhayanak, said to be a political activist, was involved in setting a passenger bus on fire in Orangi Town.

A case of the arson attack was registered at the Pakistain Bazaar cop shoppe in 2016.

During the trial, the police investigating officer said ample evidence was available on record to determine that the suspect was involved in the attack and spreading terror in the area.

However,
some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves...
the defence counsel contended that there was no evidence to connect his client with the commissioning of the offence, as the prosecution had failed to record statements of eyewitnesses, including the bus driver and passengers, who were allegedly injured in the incident.

The lawyer claimed that the police had booked his client in the case with mala fide intentions and on the basis of personal enmity. Therefore, he argued that false allegations were levelled against Ismail, who may be acquitted of the charges.

Eight dead in Nicaragua as gunfire and home blaze break truce
[Al Jazeera] A shooting and fire in Nicaragua has left eight people dead and shattered a truce struck hours earlier between President Daniel Ortega and protesters after two months of political unrest that has caused at least 170 deaths.

Loud bursts of assault rifles were heard on Saturday morning, apparently emanating from makeshift roadblocks near a university campus, according to a Rooters news agency news hound in Managua, Nicaragua's capital and the epicenter of protests since mid-April.

The violence flared hours after Ortega and civic leaders agreed on Friday to cease hostilities, remove roadblocks and allow for a foreign inquiry into the country's bloodiest confrontations since a civil war ended in 1990.

Despite the breakout of violence, both sides resumed talks to address the Catholic Church's proposal to anticipate general elections and implement political reforms.

Local media reported that police and pro-Ortega masked button men had fired at protesters guarding the roadblocks. The government did not reply to a request for comment on the reports.

The national police in a statement attributed the gunfire to protesters, and said two men had died. A police front man reached by phone declined to comment.

#2  Because they were just going to become a democracy overnight without any tradition or incentive to do so!

No, a Chinese 'democracy' was the cover story for Kissinger's efforts with President Nixon. Kissinger managed to transition the effort into a highly lucrative, Chinese investment consortium. Amazing how that happens isn't it.

US Africom conducts airstrike in Libya killing one
[Libya Herald] The US Africa Command (AFRICOM) announced Thursday that it had carried out an Arclight airstrike 50 miles southeast of Bani Walid last Wednesday killing one terrorist.

In its blurb, AFROCOM said "in coordination with the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA), U.S. forces conducted a precision airstrike against al-Qa’ ida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) approximately 50 miles southeast of Bani Walid, Libya, killing one (1) terrorist, on June 13, 2018.

AFRICOM is still assessing the results of this strike. The purpose of this operation was to disrupt AQIM and deny freedom of action.

This is the second U.S. strike against AQIM in Libya. The first on March 24, 2018, resulted in the death of Musa Abu Dawud, a high-ranking AQIM official.

No non-combatants were killed in this strike.

The United States will not relent in its mission to degrade, disrupt, and destroy terrorist organizations and support stability in the region. We are committed to maintaining pressure on the terrorist network and preventing forces of Evil from establishing safe haven", the blurb concluded.

RSM: Female naval officers almost sank the Fitzgerald
FTFA:

During the early weeks after the USS Fitzgerald was speared by a lumbering Philippine container ship, it was noteworthy that the captain and a couple of admirals were publically named, but not the actual officer in charge, the officer of the deck. (OOD) The other person who should have kept the Fitz out of trouble is the person in charge of the combat information center, the Tactical Action Officer. That individual is supposed to be monitoring the combat radar, which can detect a swimmer at a distance of two miles.

Not until a year later, when the final reports are made public and the guilty parties have been court-martialed, does the truth come out. The OOD was named Sarah, and the Tactical Action Officer was named Natalie, and they weren’t speaking to each other!!! The Tactical Action Officer would normally be in near constant communication with the OOD, but there is no record of any communication between them that entire shift!

Another fun fact: In the Navy that won WWII, the damage control officers were usually some of the biggest and strongest men aboard, able to close hatches, shore up damaged areas with timbers, etc. The Fitz’s damage control officer was also a woman, and she never left the bridge. She handled the aftermath of the accident remotely, without lifting a finger herself!

Look it up: The OOD was Sarah Coppock, Tactical Action Officer was Natalie Combs. . . .

When I noticed last year that they were doing all they could to keep the OOD’s name out of the headlines, I speculated to my son that it was a she. Turns out all the key people (except one officer in the CIC) were female!

Every other Russian male under 34 is unemployed.
The Russian national government also doesn't maintain morbidity data on their elders.

Direct Google Translation:

MOSCOW - REGNUM Today about half of the unemployed in Russia belong to the age category from 20 to 34 years. This was stated on June 14 by Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova at a briefing in the Russian government.

"Among the unemployed at the moment, people aged between 20 and 34 prevail. 48.7% of the total unemployment are people of this age , "she said.

Also, according to officials, in Russia there is no statistical data on the incidence and mortality of men 60-65 years and women 50-60 years.

As reported BakuToday , June 14, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev at a government meeting said that in Russia, unemployment is at a record low. He also stressed that in the medium term the state could face a shortage of labor resources.

#1  I need a little help with the statistics here. "Half the Russian males under 34 are unemployed" is very different from "Half of the unemployed are between 20 and 34." Can someone clarify for me? Thanks.

Nigeria plunged in to darkness by power grid meltdown as millions watched World Cup build-up on TV
[THESUN.CO.UK] NIGERIA suffered a major power cut on the first day of its World Cup campaign, according to local reports.

The power grid melt down came on the same day the national team played Croatia in its first fixture.

Nigeria has suffered a nationwide power cut after millions watched their national team play Croatia at the World Cup
The Super Eagles lost 2-0 on the day, but millions turned out to watch the game.

An own goal from new Stoke recruit Oghenakaro Etobo, and a spot kick from Luka Modric were enough to break hearts in Africa.

But many fans would have been spared the agonising loss - as the power went out across swathes of the nation.

Local media reported a total collapse of "all the nation's power plants."

The report said: "A top executive of one of the nation’s electricity distribution companies, told our correspondent on condition of anonymity that the national grid first collapsed on Friday.

US allegedly preparing chemical weapons provocation: Kazem
[ALMASDARNEWS] Syrian Human Rights Network head Ahmad Kazem has told Sputnik that US intelligence was preparing a provocation involving chemical weapons near al-Tanf, Syria, and that its purpose will be to drive a wedge between Damascus and Syria’s Kurds.

"Right now [at At Tanf] preparations are being made by US special services in coordination with ISIS (ISIS)* in the region to stage a provocation identical to the kind that took place in Douma," Kazem said.

"Kurds, including women and kiddies, are being prepared for the false flag operation," he added.

Kazem thinks there is an ’extremely strong’ probability for the provocation to be carried out. "It is being prepared with the goal of causing a collision between the Kurds and the Syrian army," he said.

On Monday, Russian Defense Ministry front man Igor Konashenkov said that the ministry has received information from numerous sources that Free Syrian Army

holy warriors and US special operations forces were preparing a false flag attack involving the use of poisonous substances in the eastern Syrian region of Deir ez-Zor.
