Asian Americans need to wise up and end our blind loyalty to the Democratic Party
h/t Instapundit
For all their smarts, Asian Americans can be pretty dumb.

They support Democrats in droves, and Democrats support race-based affirmative action. Last week, a lawsuit revealed just how discriminatory that kind of decision-making can be. At Harvard, racial balancing ‐ in the guise of a personality score for applicants ‐ appears to be systematically reducing the admission of Asian American students to the university.

...In recent presidential elections, Asian Americans have consistently voted Democratic. In 2012, exit polling shows that 73% of Asian voters turned out for Barack Obama, second only, among racial/ethnic groups, to African Americans. In 2016, two-thirds of Asian voters supported Hillary Clinton, again second to black Americans and this time tied with Latinos. Asian Americans last voted for a Republican for president way back in 1996, when they went for Bob Dole (about the only voters who did, it seems).

The Democratic Party has rewarded this unwavering support with an unyielding defense of race-based school admissions and government programs such as the one that’s been working against Asian Americans at Harvard.

Every Supreme Court justice appointed by a Democratic president has upheld race-based school admissions programs in the name of diversity. Democratic administrations have aggressively supported these same programs in court. In California, Democrats have sought repeatedly to overturn Proposition 209, the law that prevents UC Berkeley and UCLA from rescurrecting the use of race as a factor in their admission process. In New York City today, Democratic Mayor Bill de Blasio proposes to end the standardized single-test admission system used by magnet schools ‐ because too many Asians do too well on the tests.

...Asian Americans can change their self-defeating politics simply by questioning their loyalty to the Democratic Party. The smartest voters keep themselves in play, choosing candidates who truly represent their self-interest, election by election. I believe politicians who support fair competition in the markets and in our schools ‐ most likely Republicans ‐ best represent Asian Americans. And Asian voters would benefit not only themselves but the American people as a whole by rejecting anyone who supports the use of race rather than merit to pick winners, losers and even Harvard students.
And the same goes, IMO, double for Jews

Supreme court largely backs Texas Republicans over electoral maps
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday handed a victory to Texas Republicans by reviving electoral districts drawn by the state legislature that had been thrown out by a lower court for diluting the influence of black and Hispanic voters.

In a 5-4 ruling, the court’s conservative majority ruled that the challengers had not done enough to show that the Republican-led Texas legislature acted with discriminatory intent when it adopted new electoral maps in 2013 for state legislative and U.S. congressional seats. Republican President Donald Trump’s administration had backed Texas in the case. The court did rule, however, that one of the state legislature districts was unlawful.

Last September, the high court put on hold two lower court rulings from earlier in 2017 that had invalidated a series of Texas electoral districts. The justices then, as they were in Monday’s ruling, were divided 5-4, with the conservative justices backing the Texas Republicans and the liberals dissenting.

In the ruling, conservative Justice Samuel Alito said the lower court had "committed a fundamental legal error" in the way it had analyzed the dispute.

Pawn Stars 'The Old Man' passes on.
[ABC] Richard Benjamin Harrison -- known to millions of "Pawn Stars" fans as "The Old Man" -- has died, according to a post on the official Facebook page for Las Vegas' Gold and Silver Pawn shop, the setting for the hit reality show. He was 77 years old.

"The Old Man" is the father to Rick Harrison, who is the main star of the show and the current leader of the shop, often teaching viewers about the ins and outs of the pawn business.

"It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of Richard Benjamin Harrison...this morning," the post began Monday. "He was surrounded by loving family this past weekend and went peacefully."

Poll: Obama 'worst president' since World War II
[USA Today] President Obama has topped predecessor George W. Bush in another poll, but not one he would like.

In a new Quinnipiac University Poll, 33% named Obama the worst president since World War II, and 28% put Bush at the bottom of post-war presidents.

"Over the span of 69 years of American history and 12 presidencies, President Barack Obama finds himself with President George W. Bush at the bottom of the popularity barrel," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

Of course, Obama and Bush are the most recent presidents; historians will tell you that it takes decades to truly measure an individual president's performance.

Ronald Reagan topped the poll as the best president since World War II, with 35%. He is followed by presidents Bill Clinton (18%) and John F. Kennedy (15%).

Obama received only 8% in the best presidents poll.

The Quinnipiac poll also reports that 45% believe the nation would be better off had Mitt Romney defeated Obama in the 2012 presidential election; 38% say the country would be worse off with a Romney presidency.

Southeast Asia
Seven cops killed in 'misencounter' with Philippine army
[Rappler] Seven policemen were killed and 6 were injured in what was called a "misencounter" with the Philippine military in Villareal, Samar, on Monday morning.

Provincial police, however, said that what happened in Barangay Santa Rosa was an “ambush,” perpetrated by members of the Army’s 87th Infantry Battalion. The police said they were conducting “minor combat operations” in the area.

Meanwhile, military sources said the army had a “big operation,” and the police team went into the area without coordination. The team was composed of elements of the Eastern Visayas police deployed to augment the Samar Provincial Police Office.

This is a developing story.

Afghanistan
A 'Remarkable' Afghan Ceasfire
[Institute For the Study of War] Key Takeaway: The U.S. and Afghanistan have an opportunity to advance their strategic goal of negotiating an acceptable settlement with the Taliban, but not all Taliban members are reconcilable. The Taliban faces a potential rift between its leadership and rank-and-file militants in Afghanistan that threatens the Taliban’s cohesion. Large numbers of rank-and-file militants expressed their support for peace during unprecedented joint celebrations alongside Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) during a nationwide ceasefire for Eid al-Fitr on June 15 - 17. The ceasefire’s events exposed rifts amongst Taliban leadership concerning reconciliation. The U.S. and the Government of Afghanistan could exploit these apparent rifts in order to advance their strategic goal of a negotiated settlement with the Taliban. The new momentum towards peace could nonetheless generate additional pressure for the withdrawal of the U.S. from Afghanistan amidst the scheduled 2018 Afghan Parliamentary Elections. ISIS - Wilayat Khorasan could also exploit these rifts in to bolster its recruitment of hardline Taliban militants and expand its operations in Afghanistan.

CNN Celebrates South Fulton, Georgia's South African style governance.
South Fulton, Georgia (CNN) When LaDawn "LBJ" Jones walked into a meeting at work a couple of months ago, she was hit with a serious case of "black girl magic."

Jones, the city solicitor in South Fulton, Georgia, was meeting for the first time with the city's municipal court staff. As she entered the room, she realized she was looking at something she'd never before seen in her legal career. Everyone in the room looked like her.

"I walked into a very small conference room, and I noticed that it was all black women," Jones told CNN. "I kind of got that feeling of 'this is nice -- this is exciting.'"

South Fulton, an Atlanta suburb and one of Georgia's newest cities, has the distinction of being perhaps the first city in the nation to have its criminal justice system led entirely by black women:

NY Times says reporter Ali Watkins had ‘multiple' relationships with sources she covered
h/t Instapundit
The New York Times is reporting that its reporter Ali Watkins, who was dating James Wolfe, a "former Senate Intelligence Committee staffer charged with lying to the FBI about his contacts with journalists," had "multiple" relationships with sources she covered:

...By August, Ms. Watkins told friends that she and Mr. Wolfe had broken up. He had been spooked by her meeting with Mr. Rambo, and was refusing to disclose their relationship to his own employers in the Senate

In the fall, Ms. Watkins started dating a different staff member from the committee. She told others that she had informed a Politico editor who did not object. But Mr. Dayspring, the Politico spokesman, said: "Politico editors were not made aware of this relationship."

...And she even shared chocolates from a different source with the newsroom!

Shouting and Spitting Lefty Protesters Hound Fla. AG Pam Bondi Out of Tampa Movie Theater

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi had to be escorted out of a Tampa theater screening of the Mister Rogers documentary "Won't You Be My Neighbor?" by police Friday night due to screaming protesters who hounded her throughout the building.

Enraged at Bondi over her recent actions on health care policy and her stance on immigration, the activists created what the Fla. AG's spokesman called a "volatile scene," getting into Bondi's face, blocking her exit, and spitting on her.

Afghanistan
British special forces soldier killed six Taliban in pitch-black, Viet Cong-style tunnel fight
[Times] Reports have surfaced of a 29-year-old British SAS sergeant’s fight against fleeing Taliban terrorists in an underground cave complex in Afghanistan in January.

The Daily Star Sunday reported that the soldier from central England managed to shoot three terrorists and kill another three with a claw hammer while in near complete darkness in a series of underground tunnels less than 2 feet wide and 4 feet high.

The soldier was part of a joint British and Afghan special forces operation launched against a Taliban base in northern Afghanistan, the Daily Star reported.

Ben Rhodes Admits Obama Armed Jihadists In Syria In Bombshell Interview
[Zero Hedge] Someone finally asked Obama administration officials to own up to the rise of ISIS and arming jihadists in Syria.

In a wide ranging interview titled "Confronting the Consequences of Obama's Foreign Policy" The Intercept's Mehdi Hasan put the question to Ben Rhodes, who served as longtime deputy national security adviser at the White House under Obama and is now promoting his newly published book, The World As It Is: Inside the Obama White House.

Tucker Carlson: American's Elites Want 'Immigration Without Limit'
[Daily Caller] Fox News host Tucker Carlson took the mask off the ultimate goal of America’s "elites" regarding immigration ‐ a country with no borders and "immigration without limit."

"Without much real public debate or even discussion, the elite left has reached a conclusion on the question [of immigration]," The Daily Caller founder said on his Friday night show. "It is that America needs more immigration. Much more. Immigration without limit. We shouldn’t worry about whether the people coming here have skills that we need. Whether they are educated. Whether they can speak English even or even whether they are violent criminals. In fact we shouldn’t even try to accurately count how many are coming here or how many live within our borders. Do you disagree with that? Well, then in the words of an MSNBC commentator, you’re pure evil."

After playing the segment from MSNBC characterizing those who disagree with the liberal immigration agenda as "pure evil," Carlson noted that "pure evil" can’t be reasoned or negotiated with, "It can only be destroyed by force."

Cheap labor is the key. Immigrants from regions with low life expectancy are preferred. These long-lived Anglo hangers-on cost a bundle on the back end, and clearly imbalance the Social Security pay-out schemes.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Is There Light At The End Of The Deep State Cover Up?
[Townhall] It looks right now like bad guys are getting away with attempted election larceny. But, events are still unfolding and the dark of night precedes dawn, even in politics.

To those paying attention, rot and corruption at the highest levels of government are painfully visible. The problem is that "visible" does not mean the same thing as "entered into public awareness."

The most malignant political abuses in American history are lodged in shady DC hallways, government memos, thousands of texts and emails, and partisan dossiers that are staring us straight in the face. But, it would take an honest and capable media to make the public care.

Unfortunately, we go to civic war with the media we have. Most national outlets are staffed by packs of Democrat cheerleaders and bodyguards. Their mission is to unite and howl in harmony about whatever is the current attack on Donald Trump. The subject has bounced from fictional Russia collusion to imminent nuclear war with North Korea to the horrors of policing illegal border crossings under the same conditions and constraints that were in place‐and separated families--under the Bush and Obama administrations.

Nary a reporter at ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, PBS, NYT, or WAPO will lift a finger or stir a tongue to inform Americans of the malice of FBI Agents Strzok or Page, or other accomplices yet unnamed. No producer or executive in the Alphabet Cartel will allocate news minutes to exposing the machinations of James Comey, Loretta Lynch, Andrew McCabe, Bruce Ohr, or others.

So, the biggest political scandal there ever was, still isn't. But that doesn't mean the story dies here or that no chickens will eventually roost and in due course, boil.

Even the hefty reports of DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz‐loaded with explosive revelations‐are delivered soggy and quickly defused.

Horowitz has been notably thorough digging up ugly facts. But, he has been unreasonably agnostic‐even disingenuous‐about connecting, interpreting, and reporting the damning dots. As Andrew McCarthy explains, the IG report presents copious evidence of intense hostility and dripping contempt for Trump, as well as bizarre departures from standard law enforcement methods during the Clinton investigation. Yet, the Report blithely concludes no harm, no foul, no bias, because it would take a mind reader to understand why FBI officials made the decisions they did.

The Inspector’s insouciance in turn excuses media lies or neglect about the disclosures’ real import. That’s how a long running trickle and sometimes torrent of news about troubling, possibly criminal behavior by government gets dismissed as unrelated, unimportant matters.

A unique, mostly unnoted development offers hope to break through the blockade of blasé. Last March, Attorney General Jeff Sessions advised Congress by letter he had previously deputized United States Attorney for Utah John Huber and other "senior federal prosecutors" to consider and act on information coming from the Inspector General. When a federal prosecutor "acts" it means he brings warranted criminal cases. Without Horowitz’s swamp background or ties to the Obama administration, Huber is positioned to look independently and apply legal scrutiny rather than political excusery to a number of issues. These include:

Caribbean-Latin America
Leading Mexican Presidential Candidate Promises Radical Revolution
[Hot Air] Andrés Manuel López Obrador, referred to as AMLO, is certain to be Mexico’s next president and that is not very good news for the United States. Our neighbors to the south are poised to elect a populist who leans heavily on liberal nationalism while sometimes slipping into socialist leanings. AMLO has run twice previously for president and is a former mayor of Mexico City. His anti-Trump rhetoric inspires and motivates his supporters.

Election Day is July 1, and AMLO is polling a healthy 20 points ahead of his nearest opponent. He is running as an Independent, not as a candidate for either of the two traditional parties. Known as "Juntos haremos historia" ("Together we will make history"), Americans should be wary that he may accomplish what he sets out to do. He is feared to be the next Hugo Chavez, remaking Mexico into the next Venezuela with his "radical revolution".

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Sharyl Attkisson: What did Peter Strzok do?
[The Hill] As former top FBI official Peter Strzok faces congressional requests to testify, it’s worth examining who he is.

Strzok is the subject of what I see as one of the most damaging conclusions in the Department of Justice (DOJ) inspector general report: As the nation’s top FBI counterespionage official, he indicated "a willingness to take official action to impact [Donald Trump’s] electoral prospects."

Specifically, while working on the Hillary Clinton classified email investigation in August 2016, Strzok wrote that he and unnamed others would "stop" Trump from getting elected. He shared his intentions with at least one other FBI official, attorney Lisa Page.

Strzok isn’t just any rank-and-file guy spouting off in one ill-advised email. His fingerprints were on every FBI investigation that stood to impact Clinton’s presidential candidacy or to hurt Trump before and after the 2016 election.

He was chief of the FBI’s Counterespionage Section and number two in the FBI’s Counterintelligence Division. He led the team of investigators in the Clinton classified email probe and led the FBI investigation into alleged Russian interference in the election. He was involved in the controversial anti-Trump "Steele dossier" used, in part, to obtain multiple secret wiretaps. He was the one who interviewed Trump adviser Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, who pled guilty to lying to the FBI only to later learn that agents reportedly didn’t think he’d lied. And Strzok was the "top" FBI agent appointed to work on the team of special counsel Robert Mueller to investigate alleged Trump-Russia collusion.

The earth-shattering finding on Strzok by the inspector general (IG) confirms a citizenry’s worst fears: A high-ranking government intel official allegedly conspired to affect the outcome of a U.S. presidential election.

It’s also directly relevant to the FBI investigations of Trump-Russia collusion, which the IG did not examine in this report. There are multiple allegations of FBI misbehavior in that inquiry, including conspiracies to frame Trump, and improper spying on Trump associates. Investigating those allegations takes on an added sense of urgency with news that the FBI’s top counterespionage official expressed willingness to use his official position against a political enemy.

Yet, for all of that, Strzok is still collecting a salary, courtesy of taxpayers, at the FBI Human Resources Department. And here’s the chilling part: If it weren’t for the IG's investigation, requested by Congress, he’d likely still be helping lead special counsel Mueller’s investigation of Trump today.

Iraq
Paramilitaries say JOC was aware of U.S.airstrikes against forces on Iraqi-Syrian borders
Try as I might, I am still confused as to what did or did not happen.
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The pro-government paramilitary troops have announced the outcome of the Arclight airstrikes that targeted the forces on Iraqi-Syrian borders, earlier this month.

In a presser held on Sunday, abu Montather al-Husseini, head of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) operations, said the outcome of preliminary investigations on the U.S. shelling against the troops showed that missiles were fired, based on U.S. plans, from a distance of 200 meters to strike one of our pivotal locations in Qaim, on borders between Iraq and Syria.

Husseini added that both the Joint Operations Command and the commander of Jazira and Badiya Operations, Maj. Gen. Qassim al-Mohammadi, knew that our troops were deployed there.

Mohammadi, according to Husseini, "informed the Joint Operations Command by mistake that the troops were deployed 1500 kilometers away from the borders, after one of the commanders told him the information mistakenly. However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
he did not correct it."

The targeted region "is one of the important strategic region on the Iraqi-Syrian borders," he said indicating its importance to defend Qaim aw well. "The crime is a war crime. We urge the government to defend rights of those deaders."

Last week, PMFs said up to 34 fighters of its members were killed and maimed after the U.S.-led international coalition targeted a military outpost in the Syrian city of al-Bu Kamal.

Meanwhile,
...back at the laboratory, Igor and Oleg were discussing what the quickest way might be to deal with the monster...
abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy chief of PMFs, described the statement issued by JOC, issued after the airstrikes as ’hasty’, saying that it attributed information to him that he did not say.

The statement, according to Muhandis, "was hasty when it announced that the troops targeted on Iraqi-Syrian borders were outside the Iraqi lands and that they were not linked to al-hashd al-Shaabi."

PML-N fields candidates against Chaudhary Nisar
[DAWN] The Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz on Sunday announced to field its candidates against the disgruntled PML-N leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan
...Former Interior Minister of Pakistain under Nawaz Sharif. He is the senior leader of the Pak Moslem League (N) and a close aide to Uncle Fester Sharif. He is noted for his vocal anti-American railing in the National Assembly. However (comma) Khan told the U.S. ambassador that he was in fact pro-American but he and the PML-N would have to be critical of US actions in order to remain publicly credible. Khan cited his wife and children's US citizenship as proof, which means he's lying to one side or the other and probably both. He wears a wig, but you probably guessed that, since hair doesn't grow naturally in that shape or texture...
, who is contesting the upcoming general elections as an independent candidate, DawnNewsTV reported.

The party fielded Mumtaz Khan and Raja Qamar Islam from NA-63 and NA-59, respectively. Both candidates will be contesting against the former interior minister.

PML-N had at first said that Nisar would be awarded a ticket from the party if he chooses to appear before the party's board. However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
Nisar refused to do so, saying that as a "candidate who won eight consecutive elections and who never had to ask for a ticket in the past", he would not ask for his place in the election.

Rep. Barbara Lee accuses Trump administration of 'criminalizing' illegal immigrants
[WASHINGTONTIMES] Rep. Barbara Lee, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, Democrat, accused the Trump administration Sunday of "criminalizing" illegal immigrants colonists.

Ms. Lee, who joined a congressional delegation that visited intake and detention facilities Saturday near the border in Texas, described the conditions as "tragic."

"I mean, these people are being criminalized," said Ms. Lee on CNN’s "State of the Union." "We went into the processing center, where there are cages, certainly. People think there aren’t, there are, we saw these cages."

At the detention center, she said, "we talked to maybe 10 or 15 mothers. These are jails. These are prisons. These are people who are being criminalized."

#10  What is the difference between legal and illegal immigrants?

Legal immigrants are people that begin the process of immigration at U.S. Embassy/Consulate by submitting an application, paying a fee and undergoing a review process.

Illegals Aliens are people that enter the country illegally by crossing the border or enter using a visitor visa and never leave.

Referring to illegal aliens as illegal immigrants is a non starter, these people have NO immigration status whatsoever.

#19  What is the difference between legal and illegal immigrants?

Illegal Immigrants don't exist. By definition immigrants, which have been granted that status by the government, are legal - and documented. What we have are illegal ALIENS entirely different animal.

If you cross the border illegally or overstay your non-immigrant visa (and some conditional immigrant visas) you are not magically granted immigrant status. You become an illegal alien. In the case where you overstay something like a K1 Fiancee visa (without fulfilling the, in that case, marriage condition) I believe you actually lose your immigrant status and become an illegal alien.

Why mainstream media hysteria is increasing
[AmericanThinker] The past week featured well-known cable news hosts in tears over the separation of children from their parents at the border, a practice that was common in the Obama administration, drawing little notice and no weeping. And every day in the United States, when the head of a single-parent household is arrested, children of American citizens are separated from their family and placed in the custodial care of others.

Were Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell entirely ignorant of this reality? Was last week the first time they realized that parental criminality breaks up families?

I sincerely doubt that either of them was so ignorant of the realities of the criminal justice system. So what accounts for their total loss of composure on air?

Syrian Army liberates new Iraqi border region after major advance
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) scored a massive advance in southeast Syria on Sunday, liberating several areas from the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) forces.

Backed by heavy Arclight airstrikes from their air force, the Syrian military continued their major operation to clear the western countryside of Albukamal city on Sunday morning.

Not long after resuming the attack, the Syrian Arab Army managed to liberate several areas, including a new Iraqi border region that was under the control of the Islamic State.

According to a military source in Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Arab Army liberated Post 400 at the Iraqi border, following a short battle with the Islamic State terrorists.

The source added that the Syrian Army’s operation covered over 1,800 square kilometers of territory, most of which was already under their control.

Due to the Islamic State’s abundance of sleeper cells in the region, the Syrian military launched this operation to finally clear out these terrorist hideouts and restore security to the area.

A separate military source told al-Masdar on Sunday evening that the Syrian Army has eliminated 90 percent of the believed Islamic State combatants in this area.

The source added that the Islamic State should not be able to launch anymore big attacks on the western part of Albukamal because their terrorist network has been significantly reduced.

Soldier martyred in cross-border firing in North Waziristan: ISPR
[DAWN] A Pakistain Army soldier was martyred in an exchange of fire across the Pak-Afghan border in North Wazoo, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.

Sepoy Niaz Ali was shot at from across a fenced part of the North Waziristan border, the ISPR said.

"We shall... complete the fencing undeterred," DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor vowed, as he tweeted news of the sepoy's martyrdom.

He added that Afghan cooperation is required [for fencing of the border], which he said was in the mutual interest of both countries.

Hillary Clinton attacks Vladimir Putin as leader of 'white supremacist and xenophobic movement'
Now she’s just being silly.
[INDEPENDENT.CO.UK] Former Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has hit out at Russian President Vladimir Putin, describing him as the leader of a “white supremacist and xenophobic movement” which is designed to “weaken America’s traditional alliances and undermine democracy.”

The former secretary of state did not mince words when discussing the Mr Putin during a lecture at Trinity College Dublin, and declared that Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election - which is the subject of multiple investigations in the US Congress and the FBI - as a "clear and present danger" to Western democracy.

“Vladimir Putin has positioned himself as the leader of an authoritarian, white-supremacist and xenophobic movement that wants to break up the EU, weaken America’s traditional alliances and undermine democracy,” Ms Clinton said. ”We can see this authoritarian movement rippling out from the Kremlin, reaching across Europe and beyond. It’s emboldening right-wing nationalists, separatists, racists and even neo-nazis.“

Nearly 300 Turkish diplomats seek asylum in Germany
[DAWN] Nearly 300 Ottoman Turkish diplomats have sought asylum in Germany since a failed coup in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
in July 2016, a German newspaper reported on Saturday.

Data from the German interior ministry showed 1,177 Turks with diplomatic status or official credentials, including the spouses and children of diplomats, had requested asylum, the Welt am Sonntag newspaper said. No comment was immediately available from the ministry.

Following the coup attempt, Turkey has tossed in the slammer
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
more than 40,000 people and sacked or suspended more than 100,000 in the military, civil service and private sector.

Germany’s mainstream parties have been outspoken critics of Turkey’s crackdown. Turkey in turn has pressed Germany repeatedly to hand over people it believes were involved in the coup.

Egypt to extend state of emergency for three months
Unexpectedly.
[AlAhram] A nationwide state of emergency was extended for a further three months starting 14 July, following parliamentary approval on Sunday.

The ongoing state of emergency was extended by a presidential decree issued by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi but was pending approval by parliament.

The decree authorizes the army and police to undertake necessary procedures to combat terrorism in order to preserve the safety of citizens and public properties across the nation.

The state of emergency was first imposed in April 2017 after two terrorist church bombings killed 47 people.

A decree to lengthen the emergency state was issued in October and extended again in January and April.

According to the Egyptian constitution, a state of emergency cannot exceed six months from its date of declaration and decrees imposing or extending it should be approved by the parliament.

3 Gazans said injured as IDF conducts strikes against fire balloon launchers
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian media reports three attacks by Israeli drones in at least two locations in the coastal enclave

Israeli drones carried out three Arclight airstrikes on targets in the Gazoo Strip on Sunday, according to Paleostinian media, including one that reportedly injured three people, in response to multiple airborne arson attacks from the enclave directed against southern Israel.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that it had launched two airstrikes, but would not immediately comment on the reports of one.

Around 7 p.m., the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,-run Gazoo health ministry reported that three people had been injured in an IDF strike east of Gazoo City’s Zeitoun neighborhood. The extent of the men’s injuries was not immediately known.

According to the IDF, the men had been preparing to launch airborne incendiary and bombs into southern Israel.

The military said the target of the strike was a cart being used by the cell.

It was not immediately clear if the men had been deliberately injured. In the past, the IDF had generally avoided wounding Paleostinians in its airstrikes against kite- and balloon launchers, instead firing warning shots or targeting empty vehicles.

The IDF refused to comment on the injuries, saying only that it was aware of the reports.

It was the third reported Israeli strike against a target in the Gazoo Strip of the day.

The first, which was conducted in the early afternoon, destroyed a cycle of violence that was being used by a group of Paleostinians who had launched incendiary balloons into southern Israel.

"Using an aircraft, the IDF attacked a vehicle that was being used by a cell that had launched incendiary balloons in the southern Gazoo Strip," the army said in a statement.

The motorbike that was hit in the first airstrike did not appear to have been in used at the time. The target of the second airstrike, which took place a short time later, was an observation post near the security fence, according to Paleostinian media reports.

According to the Hamas-affiliated Shehab news outlet, those two dronezaps occurred outside the Bureij refugee camp.

Throughout the day, approximately 30 fires ‐ of varying sizes ‐ were reported in the area around the Gazoo Strip, apparently sparked by incendiary kites and balloons.

Scott Adams: Republicans Need to Vote Because ‘They're Coming for You Next'
[Breitbart] "I’m not a Republican and I don’t vote," he said.

"But because I’ve been labeled as a Trump supporter ... I’ve stopped appearing in public ... because of the physical danger."

If a "Blue Wave" appeared in November, and Democrats won the U.S. House and impeached the president, "I think it would be a dangerous situation for Trump supporters, wouldn’t you?" Adams observed.

"And I’m feeling like the best reason for Republicans to vote is they’re coming for you next. And they’re not hiding it. They’re coming for Trump right now, but they’re making it pretty clear they’re coming for Trump supporters next," he said.

"The one and only way to protect yourself is to make sure they lose the election," he concluded.

He speculated that the danger could actually motivate Republicans to vote because they would be "physically frightened ... probably the safest thing you could do, if you’re a Republican, is to help get out the vote."

#11  I have a friend who was a Republican but then the Gulf War turnd him against W, and he believed crazy media nonsense about the tea party. I tried patiently to explain to him what the tea party was about, he pretended to listen but it didn't sink in. I told him my parents (who practically raised him) went to tea party events and it didn't sink in. Finally he called them tea baggers and I got loud and said don't insinuate my mother is a tea bagger and he got all offended. It took little arguments over the years but finally it sunk in.

At the same time he would dismiss pretty much any news source that wasn't main stream news. I'd point out that internet news had the news a few days earlier, often weeks earlier, but it usually eventually came out in the MSN even if it was buried. Again the needle didn't budge.

Naturally he is a #NeverTrump now. That seems to be a stage of denial along the Conservative to Liberal slide.

It was/is very strange to watch brainwashing, the death of intellectual curiosity, and lefty conversion in slow motion. Kind of sad really.

Trump says illegal immigrants should be deported with 'no judges or court cases'
[REUTERS] President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
said on Sunday that people who enter the United States illegally should be sent back immediately to where they came from without any judicial process, likening them to invaders who are trying to "break into" the country.
If you don't have borders, you don't have a country.
His proposal drew immediate criticism from legal analysts and immigrant rights advocates who said it would violate the U.S. Constitution’s due process provision, which applies to citizens and non-citizens alike.

In a series of tweets on Sunday, Trump said: "We cannot allow all of these people to invade our Country. When somebody comes in, we must immediately, with no Judges or Court Cases, bring them back from where they came."
Appoint justices of the peace and contract with a bus company.
"Cannot accept all of the people trying to break into our Country. Strong Borders, No Crime!"

It was unclear if Trump was advocating an expansion of the provision that allows expedited removals of illegal immigrants colonists at or near the U.S. border, a policy his administration has embraced since he took office. Nor did Trump differentiate between illegal immigrants colonists and people who entered the United States to seek asylum protection.

The White House did not return a call seeking clarification.

Pro-Assad troops take over Golan UN post in demilitarized area on Israeli border
[IsraelTimes] IDF hints it may act to remove soldiers by force, noting the new position marks a violation of the post-1973 separation of forces agreement

Forces loyal to the regime of Syrian strongman Bashir al-Assad took control of an abandoned UN post in the no-man’s land between the Israeli and Syrian areas of the Golan Heights, Israel’s Kan public broadcaster reported on Sunday.

The post, abandoned by United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) troops on the Golan, is meant to be free of both Israeli and Syrian troops, according to the cessation of hostilities agreement between the two countries that followed the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

According to the report, UNDOF has identified ongoing infrastructure work at the site.

The IDF said in a statement that it was "aware of what is taking place, and views [the takeover of the site and] the infrastructure work at the post as a serious and flagrant violation of the separation-of-forces agreement."

The IDF statement suggested Israel might act to remove the forces from the post by force. Officials told Kan that Israel "sees UNDOF as responsible for tracking and acting against military forces in the separation zone, and is determined to prevent military entrenchment in that area."

The televised Kan report showed footage of the post.

The report came just hours after an Israeli Patriot missile was fired at a drone that approached from Syria toward Israel’s airspace. Israeli officials believe the drone belonged to regime forces.

According to Hebrew-language reports, the IDF is bracing for an uptick in fighting in Syrian areas adjacent to the Israeli border, and expects incidents of stray fire to enter Israeli territory.

As fighting between the main factions in the Syrian civil war threatened to overwhelm UNDOF positions, the UN troops left the demilitarized buffer zone for Israel in 2014.

Laura Ingalls Wilder's name removed from book award over racism concerns
[THEGUARDIAN] A division of the American Library Association has voted to remove the name of Laura Ingalls Wilder from a major children’s book award, over concerns about how the author portrayed African Americans and Native Americans.
She was there, the prize committee wasn't. People spoke and thought that way at the time. Writing books featuring female gunmen or generals or sword fighters doesn't mean they were there. People in this country used to refer to Injuns Native Americans as Redskins. Deal with it, pantywaist.
The board of the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) made the unanimous decision to change the name on Saturday, at a meeting in New Orleans. The name of the prize was changed from the Laura Ingalls Wilder Medal to the Children’s Literature Legacy Award.

The association said Wilder “includes expressions of stereotypical attitudes inconsistent with ALSC’s core values”.

The first award was given to Wilder in 1954. The ALSC said Wilder’s work continued to be published and read but her “legacy is complex” and “not universally embraced”.

Wilder was born in 1867 and died in 1957. She is best known for her eight Little House on the Prairie novels, about pioneer life in the American West, which were published between 1932 and 1943.

the jihadist rebels were reportedly spotted by a Syrian Army reconnaissance drone prior to launching their attack on Sunday morning.

According to a members of the National Defense Forces (NDF), once the jihadist attempted to infiltrate into Kafraya, their troops laid well-executed ambush that kill several members of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham.

The NDF said they lost two military personnel during the jihadist attack, but they managed to fully repel Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham’s infiltration attempt.

6 arrested in Turkey for 'insulting Erdogan on social media' as country goes to polls
[DAWN] At least six people were tossed in the slammer

by Ottoman Turkish authorities late on Saturday night for allegedly insulting President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
on social media ahead of a campaign rally by his main opponent in Sunday's high-stakes presidential and parliamentary election.

State-run Anadolu news agency said the six were detained after videos posted on social media reportedly showed them shouting expletives against Erdogan. The news agency said they were later charged with "insulting state elders".

The agency said police were searching for other suspects.

Insulting the president is a crime punishable by up to four years in prison. Erdogan has filed close to 2,000 lawsuits against people, including school children, for insulting him.

As a goodwill gesture, he dropped the cases following a failed military coup in 2016. But many more cases have been filed since then.

Nicaragua clashes leave eight dead including baby
[NATION.PK] At least eight people including a baby were killed Saturday when pro-government forces clashed with opponents in Nicaragua, according to a rights group.

Seven people were killed in the capital Managua and one in Masaya and a baby was among the dead, said Georgina Ruiz, an activist with the Nicaraguan Center for Human Rights (CENIDH).

The rights group says more than 200 people have been killed in protests that started just over two months ago demanding President Daniel Ortega step down.

Starting after midnight, police and paramilitary forces flooded six neighborhoods in the east of Managua, as well as the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN) where scores of students are holed up. Among the dead were two students killed in the university area and two minors who died in Managua - a 17-year-old and a baby who was shot in the head.

The baby was killed when his mother was taking him to a babysitter. "He was killed by a police gunshot. I saw them. They were police," the mother Kenia Navarrete told news channel Cien por Cien Noticias.

The government denied the charge, saying criminals in the university area were to blame.

UNAN is one of several student protest camps in Managua. About 450 students have been living there under plastic tarp tents and in class buildings, surrounded by empty bottles, old food and used rounds from their homemade mortars.

"Ortega's government continues to repress and kill young people," CENIDH said on Twitter.

According to Alvaro Leiva, secretary of the Nicaraguan Pro-Human Rights Association, the attack against the university was intended "to plant terror in the population" ahead of a march planned for Saturday afternoon in memory of victims of the violence.

Later Saturday organizers cancelled the march due to what they branded "indiscriminate" attacks by government forces. The organizing Civil Alliance opposition called for a 48-hour strike among social sectors and trade unions to press for Ortega's departure.

The Nicaraguan Episcopal Conference urged Ortega's government and the opposition to return to the negotiating table on Monday to discuss a proposal to bring elections forward from 2021 to March 2019, in a bid to end the crisis.

Ortega, 72, has not responded to the Catholic bishops' initiative, but has previously expressed his willingness to work toward democratization.

Erdogan supporters in Istanbul celebrate electoral ‘victory’

[ALMASDARNEWS] Supporters of Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
gathered in front of his Justice and Development Party (AK) headquarters in Istanbul on Sunday after he claimed victory in the snap presidential election.

The country’s electoral board (YSK) is yet to announce the official results of the election but the state-run Anadolu Agency reports that after counting 97 percent of votes, Erdogan is sitting on 52.62 percent while his key political opponent Muharrem Ince is estimated to trailing behind on 30.76.

It is thought the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) will exceed the 10 percent threshold needed to enter parliament.

At an estimated 11 percent, the HDP will hold 46 seats becoming the second largest opposition party in the new chamber.

Erdogan called a snap election in April, bringing the original poll date forward from November 2019.

The documents provided this week include details about some of the FBI's most sensitive programs, including a file on the FBI's justification to obtain a court-authorized warrant to spy on a former Trump campaign aide in October 2016.

The move appears poised to thaw a pitched confrontation between Republican politicians and the Justice Department, though Speaker Paul Ryan

One FBI letter responded to document requests by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) made in August 2017, as well as in March and April. The other was to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and House Overisght Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), who issued an extensive subpoena for records in March.

Files continued to arrive on Capitol Hill as late as Friday, according to the bureau, when the FBI submitted a classified letter to the House Intelligence Committee detailing whether the FBI relied on informants on Russian meddling prior to the official opening of its investigation.

Also on Friday, the FBI turned over more than 1,400 pages of documents to the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees relating to senior FBI or Justice Department officials' requests to review or manage surveillance records that either involve or mention the Trump campaign or Trump administration.

If They Keeps This Up, They're Going to Get Somebody Killed
[DiogenesMiddleFinger] We've already seen violent full-blown media driven liberal hate acted out at a baseball diamond in DC in an attempt to murder in mass Republican politicians. And now the fully rabid political left having been pushed into the streets by the media's insane and irresponsible Hitler rhetoric and comparisons of illegal alien children to kids murdered at Auschwitz, along with the insane freak Maxine Waters continuously throwing around words like resist & revolt, the possibility that someone is going to end up dead is every increasing.

Maxine Waters orders MORE public harassment of Trump aides: ‘God is on OUR side!’
[THEAMERICANMIRROR] Maxine Waters
U.S. Representative for California's 43rd congressional district, serving since 1991, a total of 26.564679718926662 years. A member of the Democratic Party, she is the most senior of the 12 black women currently serving in the United States Congress, is a member and former chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. Before becoming a member of Congress she served in the California Assembly, to which she was first elected back when Disco was in flower, in 1976, which would make it 41.56262633083631 years. She has been a politician for virtually all her adult life. If she was brighter she'd be a Communist...
'>Comrade Maxine Waters wants more people to harass Trump administration officials in public spaces.
Perhaps it's high time conservatives started stalking (yep, that's what Maxine is calling for) as many lefty potentates as they can find? Keep things simple, like surrounding Maxine's house while she's having breakfast and holler "Boo!"
The Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, Congresswoman went on a shouting rampage during a toy drive outside the Wilshire Federal Building on Saturday.

After claiming Trump is"sacrificing our children," referring to the undocumented Democrat kids separated from their "parents" near the border, Waters again called for the president’s impeachment, triggering loud applause from the baying mob.
So actually he's "sacrificing" foreigners' childred in favor of our own.
"History will record while he tried to step on all of us, we kicked him in his rear and step on him," she yelled, whipping up the crowd. "If you think we’re rallying now, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet," she warned.

"Already, you have members of your Cabinet that are being booed out of restaurants," she continued as the crowd erupted, "who have protesters taking up at their house, who say, ’No peace, no sleep. No peace, no sleep,'" she continued.

"And guess what," she predicted, "we’re going to win this battle because while you try and quote the Bible, Jeff Sessions and others, you really don’t know the Bible.

"God is on OUR side!" she declared, as the crowd went wild. "On the side of the children. On the side of what’s right. On the side of what’s honorable."
God told her so.
"And so, let’s stay the course. Let’s make sure we show up wherever we have to show up and if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere," she yelled.
If conservatives do it, it's oppression.

Kurdish militia declares state of emergency in Syria’s Raqqa after ISIS attack
[ALMASDARNEWS] The US-backed Syrian rebel group controlling the northern Syrian city of Raqqa has declared the state of emergency and a full curfew for a week over suspicions of potential attacks by the defeated Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. The Syrian Democratic Forces issued an official statement saying that ’terrorist elements’ might have made it into Raqqa to carry out terror attacks.

According to the statement, SDF security units have foiled two attempts by terror groups to infiltrate the city. Checkpoints have been set up citywide to prevent such attempts and guarantee maximum safety.

The recent security procedures come two days after the Islamic State launched its first attack in Raqqa since the terror group was forced to leave its de-facto capital in October 2017.

ISIS’ media wing said that several Kurdish fighters were killed and injured when an IED went kaboom! in two vehicles inside Raqqa. The terror organization vowed more long-wolf attacks against the Kurdish militia.
The Times of Israel adds:
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group says 5,000 SDF fighters had been deployed in Raqa and parts of the surrounding province for a huge security operation.

Iraq denies reports about shelling of U.S. Embassy in Baghdad
Good to know.
Baghdad (Iraqinews.com) – Iraqi authorities denied on Sunday that the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad came under a mortar attack by al-Hashd al-Shaabi militias in response to last week’s Arclight airstrikes on Iraqi-Syrian borders, which left scores of the pro-Iran fighters dead and injured.

Ghaleb al-Zamali, a member of Baghdad provincial council’s security committee, told Basnews website that "reports about the shelling of the U.S. Embassy in the Green Zone, Baghdad, are inaccurate. No bombardments were reported against the the U.S. Embassy or elsewhere."

Al-Zamali accused some parties "of attempting to spread rumors for political purposes," stressing that the situation in Baghdad is stable and there is no security tension.

China-Japan-Koreas
North Korea erasing most anti-US propaganda
[NYPOST] Nix the nuclear warheads, cue the doves.

The North Korean government is erasing much of its anti-U.S. propaganda following dictator Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
’s forays onto the world stage.

Gone are the posters depicting the U.S. as a "rotten, diseased, pirate nation" and promising "merciless Dire Revenge" on American forces for an imagined attack on the totalitarian country.

In their place are cheery messages touting praising the prospects for Korean reunification and the declaration Kim signed in April with South Korean President Moon Jae-in promising "lasting peace," according to reports.

Still the most isolated country in the world, very few North Koreans have access to news and information from the outside world. So state propaganda plays a huge role in shaping their views.

Murals, banners and posters displayed throughout the capital, Pyongyang, have for decades depicted the U.S. as a brutal, imperialist aggressor hell-bent on destroying the North Korean regime. South Korea and Japan were also frequently targeted as willing allies of the U.S.

But things started to take an Orwellian turn in the run-up to Kim’s June 12 summit with President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
, with the old posters vanishing since then.

"All the anti-American posters I usually see around Kim Il-sung Square and at shops, they’ve all just gone," Rowan Beard, a tour manager at Young Pioneer Tours, told Rooters. "In five years working in North Korea, I’ve never seen them completely disappear before."

Infamous posters and postcards showing North Korean missiles on their way to Washington are a thing of the past. Also removed are the anti-American trinkets that used to be sold to tourists as souvenirs. In their place are items showing themes of Korean reunification.

The change extends to the country’s government-controlled media. News reports that once depicted the U.S. as hostile, and its involvement in places like Syria as proof of imperialism, are no longer critical. The Financial Times said the main newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, hasn’t featured a direct attack on Trump since March, when he agreed to meet with Kim.

Palestinians open fire on settlement south of Jerusalem – IDF
[IsraelTimes] No injuries or damage as shots fired from car at entrance to Kibbutz Migdal Oz; army closes entrance to nearby Paleostinian village in search for perpetrators

Gunshots were fired from a car with Paleostinian license plates near the West Bank settlement of Kibbutz Migdal Oz on Sunday night in what the Israel Defense Forces called an attempted terror attack.

The army said there were no injuries, and the shooting caused no damage.

The IDF launched a search for the perpetrator, who sped away after the shooting. As part of the manhunt, the army set up roadblocks at the entrance to the nearby Paleostinian village of Beit Fajjar, some eight kilometers (five miles) south of Bethlehem.

"IDF troops are blocking exits from the village of Beit Fajjar as part of the search efforts after the terrorist. Exit permits will be granted in accordance with decisions by security forces," the army said.

"In addition, troops are continuing to search the area," the military added.

According to the IDF, the shooting took place near the southern entrance of Migdal Oz.

The kibbutz abuts Efrat in the Etzion Bloc, south of Bethlehem.

Earlier this month, Israeli security forces closed down a weapons manufacturing workshop in Beit Fajjar.

IDF forces confiscated a lathe from the facility, which was believed to be involved in producing makeshift firearms that could be delivered to terror groups.

He said that western powers want to snatch their freedom and push them towards anarchy but with the help of Allah Almighty, no one could defeat the Islamic ideology and Moslems could better defend their life and honour.

Addressing on the rally, JI chief Sirjul Haq said the ’status-quo’ politics has nurtured since the inception of the country. He said the country’s debt had escalated to $185 billion during last 70-years. He alleged the rulers had received loans in the name of Pakistain but accumulated it in their foreign accounts.

He said corruption was rampant in the country. He added that major issues like energy crisis, provision of clean drinking water, best health and education facilities to everyone and establishment of better road-infrastructure raimed unresolved.

He added that the MMA would generate employment opportunities for the youth and those who were unemployed would be given special allowances while five percent of the budget would be allocated for education.

"We have failed to establish Pakistain as an independent and sovereign country during last 72 years," he lamented. He said that the MMA’s prime objective was to make Pakistain a true Islamic welfare country, followed by elimination interest-based economic system, raising the core issues of Kashmire and Paleostine, bringing back the looted national wealth to the country as well as the provision of other basic amenities to the masses.

He said that the MMA was Islamic alliance aimed to make Pakistain an Islamic welfare state and get the country rid of international agents.

Assad vows to retake northern Syria from Turkish, US forces
[ALMASDARNEWS] Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Terror of Aleppo ...
recently sat down with Russia’s NTV to discuss a number of topics currently affecting his country.

The Syrian President answered several of his interviewer’s questions, which included how will Syria prevent terrorist groups from resurfacing and what is the future of northern Syria.

Regarding northern Syria, the interviewer asked Assad "how you can stop the occupation in northern Syria because of this agreement between America and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....
, one which is Syrian soil?"

The Syrian President responded: "We adopted two ways: the first one and the main one was the reconciliation; it succeeded. This is how we could have brought those areas back to their normality where the people live a normal life and the government is controlling the life of the people through the institutions. The other one is attacking the bully boyz whenever they don’t give up and join the reconciliation. We’re going to attack them and take control by force, which is not our favorable way, but it’s the only way to gain control of the country."

Assad would then take a shot at both the U.S. and Turkey, claiming that the aforementioned countries have at times been at odds inside Syria.

"Don’t believe that; America controls everything, controls Turkey, and America sent Turkey, and America prevented Turkey five years ago when Erdogan wanted to invade Syria, and they told him ’no. Why?’ Because that time the bully boyz were succeeding, were expanding, so, why do we need Erdogan? When the bully boyz started retreating, they told Erdogan now you can interfere because it’s getting better for Syrians and for the Russians and for this group of Iran and the groups who are fighting terrorists, so you better interfere just to make it messy again, and that’s what’s happening, but all these areas are under the control of the United States, nobody else," Assad added.

IDF: Patriot missile fired at incoming UAV from Syria, which retreats
[IsraelTimes] Residents post pictures showing white trail left behind by anti-aircraft missile; the military says the air defense system didn't hit the UAV, which approached Israeli territory

The Israel Defense Forces launched a Patriot interceptor missile at a drone that was heading toward Israeli airspace from Syria, prompting the incoming unmanned aerial vehicle to beat a retreat, the army said.

"As a result, the aircraft fled from the border. No interception was reported," the army said in a statement.

The drone was being used as part of the Syrian military’s activities in the Quneitra region, near the Israeli Golan Heights, a commander in the coalition supporting Syrian dictator Bashir al-Assad later told the Rooters news service.

The IDF did not immediately identify the operator of the drone.

The military said its systems spotted the incoming aircraft and fired at it before the UAV reached the border.

"The IDF will not allow a violation of the aerial illusory sovereignty of the State of Israel and will take action against any attempt to harm its citizens," the army said.

Residents of northern Israel quickly began sharing photographs and videos showing the white trail left behind, apparently by the Patriot launch.

In recent days, fighting has intensified near Israel’s border with Syria, as dictator Bashir al-Assad’s forces, aided by the Russian military, move in on one of the last remaining areas of rebel-controlled territory in the country.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor on Sunday said that at least 23 people, including women and kiddies, had been killed by pro-regime forces in the latest round of violence. Fifteen pro-Assad fighters were also reportedly killed by Syrian rebels.

On Sunday, intensive festivities were reported near the southern Syria city of Daraa, with dozens of Arclight airstrikes that local activists said were carried out by the Russian air force.

Jerusalem and Moscow maintain close ties in order to prevent accidental festivities and conflicts between their militaries.

#1  ...Something not quite right here. PATRIOT moves several orders of magnitude faster than any drone, and once PATRIOT is moving, it ain't stopping. Sounds to me like the missile...well, missed, but the Syrians/Iranians took the hint.

Patriot is mid to high attitude intercept. Not intended or designed for low attitude.

Now the UAV may have been spoofing, through transmission or have someone in the same radar envelope behind it.

The strategic blunder of ‘Trump-as-Hitler’
[THEHILL] Apart from the historical ignorance in comparing the mechanized genocide of 6 million people with the temporary warehousing of children in detention facilities, going full-bore with accusations of Nazism is a grave strategic error on the part of those opposing the president.
Comparing foulness and death with minor unpleasantness and maybe even a tummyache...
There has been escalating rhetoric from the moment Donald Trump pulled off his “upset” defeat of Hillary Clinton, rhetoric that has reached its natural conclusion that Trump must be literally Adolf Hitler.
Before that, too.
For some bizarre reason, however, Democrats decided that now — five months away from midterm elections, and in the midst of a whirlwind of other headlines — was the time to deploy their rhetorical nuclear option.
Honking the same horn every day might convince people it's a trombone in six months.
Like it or not, news cycles move at breakneck speed in the Trump era and often are determined by the president himself. Last week’s summit in North Korea? May as well have been ten years ago. So, too, will the issue of border separations fall by the wayside as a gnat-like attention span turns to some newer, trendier outrage du jour.
Not if they keep honking every day. Illegal aliens could be ushered into the country by the doormen from Trump's hotels, dusted off, given a martini and booked in the Presidential Suite of the closest Hilton. There'd still be something wrong with the whole process according to the Dems.
By the time midterms roll around, this latest contretemps will be the faintest of memories. Unconvinced? Here are all the other times Trump has “finally gone too far.”

This, then, raises the question: Where do Democrats and their “Never Trump” conservative hangers-on go next, rhetorically, having spent their shot on the border issue? Anything less than full accusations of Nazism will seem tame by comparison. Now that Trump is “actually Hitler,” any compromise by Democrats will be viewed as kowtowing to fascism. Conversely, sticking with the Nazism line of attack cheapens its effect and, frankly, makes its proponents come off as a little more than unhinged, something perhaps already at play given that a Gallup poll has put Trump at his highest approval rating to date.

Is this perhaps the last, desperate gasp of the president’s critics? Do they double down and ride the Trump-as-Hitler narrative — and themselves — into the ground until November’s midterms and beyond? Undoubtedly, the president is ready to chum the waters with another carefully manufactured outrage to distract the pundit class.

Nine Arrested In Attack On Ethiopian PM Rally; 165 Injured
[RADIOSHABELLE] At least one person was killed and 165 injured when an kaboom rocked a rally in Meskel Square in Addis Ababa, the Æthiopian capital, as Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed completed his address.

"Building an independent nation is not the same as building a free society. What good is a free country, if we don’t enjoy freedom? If we are not free from fear?" Abiy asked, just moments before the blast.

Authorities in Æthiopia say they are treating the incident as an liquidation attempt, and have placed in durance vile
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
nine people in connection with it, according to the Addis Standard. Among them is Girma Kassa, the deputy police commissioner for the city, who was fired earlier in the day.

Abiy later visited attack victims in the hospital, praising their courage and saying they represent the true spirit of love, forgiveness and togetherness that were major themes of his speech. There were 54 people admitted for treatment, nine of them at death's door, according to the Æthiopian health minister. Some estimates put the unconfirmed corpse count at four.

The attack was swiftly condemned by the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
, which is headquartered in Addis Ababa.

"The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union, Moussa Faki Mahamat, has learned with shock and dismay of the attack that took place today during a peaceful rally in Addis Ababa in support of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s reform agenda," the AU statement said. "He strongly condemns this cowardly attack against civilians at a peaceful rally under the banner of peace and reconciliation."

African leaders including President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya and President Mohammed Farmaajo of Somalia, also expressed their condolences.

Why the Resistance is futile
[DONSURBER.BLOGSPOT] So let me explain why the Resistance
That'd be the Hezbullies, but in the U.S. it's used by anti-Trumplings...
is futile.

1. The Resistance comes from the top down. The Tea Party was more organic, less organized, and seemed more sincere.

2. The celebrities are not helping the Resistance in part because of all the baggage they carry. Maybe it is just me, but I laugh when an actress who shed her clothes in a film complains that the President Trump used the P-word. Indeed, the all-too casual use of vulgarity undermines the message.

3. The attacks are personal. Yes, the Tea Party did attack Obama (every president endures that to some extent) but the protesters eight years ago also has an issue: the fear of nationalized health care. What is the issue besides the way President Trump looks?

4. The focus is not on any issue. The Resistance simply is against everything President Trump does. He figured out more than a year ago how to work this to his advantage. The Resistance now opposes tax cuts, a booming economy, and peace in Korea. The Resistance also now supports MS-13, open borders, and Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
5. President Trump has proved them wrong. He is not Hitler. In no way, shape, or form is he. The pile of profane pejoratives is staggering. Calling him a cock holster and his daughter the C-word on national television makes him the victim, and totally blows away any argument that he is a despot because if he were both Stephen Colbert and Samantha Bee would be pushing up daisies.

6. The Tea Party was American. The Resistance was French.

Alas, as part of the Resistance, the New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

cannot look at their position objectively. The Times staff is setting itself up for an unpleasant November Surprise -- again.

No Casualties As Car Bomb Goes Off In Mogadishu

"A Somali security force officer has escaped unhurt from an IED fitted into his private car which went off at Sayidka vicinity. No casualties have been reported so far" said Abdi.

No group claimed the responsibility of the attack but al-Shabaab

for five years an Italian priest who worked as a diplomat for the Holy See’s Washington embassy, for possessing and sharing child pornography.

Monsignor Carlo Alberto Capella pleaded guilty on Friday, the opening day of the court hearing, saying he had gone through a "personal crisis" and felt "useless" as a counsellor at the embassy.

The 51-year-old told the three lay Italian judges at the tiny courtroom in the Vatican City that he had started looking at child pornography online on Tumblr in July 2016 and exchanged pictures with other users.

The Vatican gendarmerie said more than 40 pornographic photos and videos, some showing sexual contact between adults and pre-pubescent children, were found on the priest’s mobile phone.

Killing Islamic State senior member in coalition airstrike separates Baghdadi from west of Iraq: Expert

leader Abdullah al-Shemari as a devastating blow to the group.

In remarks to the Russian Sputnik news agency, Omar Badr Eddin, said Shemari is the leader of Jazira region. Losing him at such critical time of the group’s battle against the police and army in Iraq means difficulty to make up for him, which could create confusion among the group.

The group’s supreme leader, abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, whom is expected by many to be in one of the African countries, will not be able to communicate with an important part of the group in west of Iraq, where Shemari was leading the terrorist operations there, especially that he was killed, along with other leaders, the expert added.

The Iraqi Joint Operations Command, according to Badr Eddin, is currently making achievements through killing number of leaders and fighters in sporadic operations. He stressed necessity to resume those operations, saying that killing even one murderous Moslem is a big loss to the group, as one member is now tasked with huge missions.

On Saturday, the Security Media Center said the U.S.-led Coalition managed to kill Shemari in an airstrike in Anbar.

Thai police seize 41 pipe bombs smuggled in from Malaysia
[The Nation] 41 pipe bombs intercepted on Thursday by police in Narathiwat province, on the Thai side of the Malaysian border, were intended for an attack on security officers. Military spokesman Manas Siksamat the bombs were made in Malaysia.

Zanuzi Yatae was arrested on Thursday after his pickup truck was stopped in Tambon Kosit in Tak Bai district. He is a resident of Tambon Tanyongmas in Narathiwat’s Rangae district, said Manas.

Another suspect, Abdulasi Sama, a resident of Tak Bai, fled on foot along a border canal and was later picked up by a motorcyclist. Manas said police learned the identity of the second suspect from a passport found in a bag that fell while he was fleeing.

Bomb disposal experts who checked the pipe bombs said they could have been used as grenades or set to be detonated by timing devices. Police believe the bombs were assembled in Malaysia because the PVC pipes used are not available in Thailand.

Zanuzi reportedly told police that he and the second suspect drove their pickup to the border at Ban Pado village in Tambon Na Nak in Tak Bai and four militants on two motorcycles arrived with the bombs. They wrapped the bombs in thick clothes to prevent them from accidental discharge and drove their pickup to Narathiwat’s Yingor district but were nabbed by highway police on the way.

Italy allegedly sends more troops to Syria
[ALMASDARNEWS] Italia has sent more troops to Syria in order to aid the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG), Ottoman Turkish state-owned Anadolu News alleged on Sunday.

Citing "local sources", the Anadolu report claimed that more than 20 Italian soldiers entered Syria to aid the YPG forces.

The Anadolu report added that the Italian soldiers were deployed to a Coalition base near the al-’Umar Oil Fields in eastern Deir Ezzor.

Earlier this month, the Anadolu Agency alleged that Italia sent troops from Iraq to Syria via a border-crossing in the al-Hasakah Governorate.

However,
if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning...
the Italian Ministry of Defense later stated that these claims were false and that there were no Italian troops inside Syria.

five people in the mistaken-identity slaying of a Bronx teen, police sources said Sunday.

Police took two suspects into custody in The Bronx and tracked down three more in Paterson, NJ, sources said.

Five members of the deadly Dominican gang Trinitarios allegedly hacked 15-year-old Lesandro Guzman-Feliz with knives and a machete outside a Bronx deli Wednesday night, leaving him on the sidewalk to die.

Investigators believe it was a case of mistaken identity, according to sources. The victim was enrolled in the NYPD Explorers youth program and dreamed of being an NYPD detective, according to his family.
