Ehud Barak: I Visited Epstein's Island But Never inhaled Met Any Girls
This whole situation has been simmering for a while, I'm sure. Ever wonder why this suddenly took priority? Probably multiple reasons. Including the upcoming election here in the states. But it seem some very important Israelis may have had something to say about this.

I also imagine this is going to turn into some kind of "me too" thing. Only we're going to have a lot of important and high profile folks saying "I was there too, and nothing happened!" Of course, that begs the question, are there any other relatively inconsequential people who have hosted so many important and high profile folks. Yeah, Epstein had money which he seems to have obtained magically, but he really doesn't do much that's useful in society.

[DailyBeast] In an exclusive interview with The Daily Beast, the Israeli politician fights back at Benjamin Netanyahu's election attacks and reveals more about his relationship with Epstein.

United Arab Emirates oil tanker vanishes after drifting into Iranian waters
[Times of Israel] Tracking data shows an oil tanker based in the United Arab Emirates traveling through the Strait of Hormuz drifted off into Iranian waters and stopped transmitting its location over two days ago, raising concerns Tuesday about its status amid heightened tensions between Iran and the US.

It isn't clear what happened to the Panamanian-flagged oil tanker Riah late on Saturday night.

However, its last position showed it pointing toward Iran. Oil tankers have previously been targeted as the Persian Gulf region took center stage in a crisis over Iran's unraveling nuclear deal with world powers.

The concern about the Riah comes as Iran continues its own high-pressure campaign over its nuclear program after President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew America from the accord over a year ago.

The Riah, a 58-meter (190-foot) oil tanker, typically made trips from Dubai and Sharjah on the UAE's west coast before going through the strait and heading to Fujairah on the UAE's east coast. However, something happened to the vessel after 11 p.m. on Saturday, according to tracking data.

Capt. Ranjith Raja of the data firm Refinitiv told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the tanker hadn't switched off its tracking in three months of trips around the UAE.

"That is a red flag," Raja said.
no shit?
Iranian officials have not said anything publicly about the ship, nor have officials in the UAE. The US Navy's 5th Fleet, which oversees Mideast waters, declined to immediately comment.

The ship's registered owner, Dubai-based Prime Tankers LLC, told the AP it had sold the ship to another company called Mouj Al-Bahar. A man who answered a telephone number registered to the firm told the AP it didn't own any ships.

Mouj-Al-bahar, registered (2006) in Sharjah, buys used ships and scr@ps them. Also sells scr@p and run-down ship material to traders. Also, some connection to Pakistan.

Maybe someone took advantage of the standoff ? Iran did it by proxy using traitors in the UAE ?

The IRGC is bound and determined to get some hostages, and they don't care who they are at this point.

Trump officially taps Esper for defense chief ahead of hearings
[IsraelTimes] Expected confirmation would end seven months without Pentagon chief after Mattis resignation; Navy leader Richard Spencer takes over as acting defense chief.

US President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
on Monday asked the Senate to confirm Mark Esper as the successor to former Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, whose resignation last December opened an unprecedented period of senior-level instability at the Pentagon.

The moment the nomination was received by the Senate on Monday afternoon, Esper was required to step out of his role as acting defense secretary ‐ a job he has held since June ‐ until he is confirmed as the permanent secretary. He reverted to his previous position of Army secretary.

Filling in for Esper pending his confirmation is Richard Spencer, who has been the civilian leader of the Navy since August 2017.

Spencer’s tenure as acting secretary is expected to be brief. Esper will have his Senate confirmation hearing on Tuesday and could be confirmed as early as Thursday. Spencer would then return to the Navy.

Spencer, a native of Connecticut, joined the Marine Corps after graduating from Rollins College in 1976. He served in the Marines until 1981 as an H-46 helicopter pilot, according to his official Navy biography.

He is a former Wall Street investment banker. For 10 years prior to becoming Navy secretary he was managing director of Fall Creek Management, a private investment firm.

Esper took over as acting defense secretary in June when Patrick Shanahan abruptly quit after having served as acting secretary since Mattis departed. Thus Spencer, filling in for Esper as of Monday, is the third acting defense secretary this year.

Prior to the Trump administration, only twice before has the Defense Department been led by an acting secretary ‐ most recently in 1989 ‐ and never has it had more than one in a single year.

If Esper is confirmed by the Senate this week, Norquist is expected to be nominated by Trump next week to be permanent deputy secretary.

Esper, who has been the civilian leader of the Army since November 2017, has a wide range of experience with defense issues, including years on Capitol Hill. More recently he was a lobbyist for Raytheon Co., which does a lot of business with the Pentagon.

Esper’s former work with Raytheon is likely to come up at his Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on Tuesday. Sen. Elizabeth Being Native American has been part of my story since the day I was born Warren

, a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination and a member of the committee, has raised questions about Esper’s lobbying background.

Dems Change Mind On Border Wall After Realizing It Will Keep People From Leaving When We Switch To Socialism
[Babylon Bee] U.S.‐The nation's Democratic leaders announced Tuesday they are reversing course on Trump's proposed border wall, since "it will keep people in once we switch to socialism."

"We thought the border wall was a bad, racist idea," said Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. "But then this light bulb turned on over my head. It was actually just a light bulb though, not an actual idea, which was disappointing. But that got me thinking about trying to have an idea. And I got an idea: when we switch to socialism, everyone's gonna try to run away. But what if there's a big, solid object along the border? Then they can't run away. I mean, they could try to climb, but we could shoot them."

Senator Bernie Sanders said in his experience, walls are "absolutely necessary" to keep a socialist country's citizens from fleeing. "The Soviets had it right: big wall in Berlin, the symbolic Iron Curtain, shooting people who try to flee. It's all necessary to a healthy socialist state." Besides, Sanders added, politicians like him would be exempt from the "no running away" rule and he could fly out any time he wanted on a government plane.

Dems suggested maybe the border wall could use some upgrades such as landmines on the U.S. side, outposts with guards armed with AK-47s, and attack dogs. It will also need to be extended to surround the entire country and "maybe also a big dome around the top."

Kamala Harris Renews Pledge to Bypass Congress with Executive Gun Control
[BREITBART] Kámala Harris
Former Oakland mayor Willie Brown's former mistress, now a senatrix from California and 2020 Dem presidential hopeful, indistinguishable from the others...
used a July 13, 2019, tweet to renew her pledge to bypass Congress and enact executive gun control.

Harris tweeted: "Gun violence is the leading cause of death for young Black men in America. We must stop this. When president, I will take executive action to ensure guns do not fall into the wrong hands."
Enquirying minds want to know if her hands were the right ones to control Willy's gun... so the next song for her..

Executive gun control has been a staple of Harris’ campaign for the Democrat presidential nomination.

On April 22, 2019, Breitbart News reported Harris’ plan to give Congress 100 days to pass new gun controls if she wins the White House. Should Congress fail to act, Harris made clear she would simply use executive orders to achieve the gun control she desires.

To date Harris has pledged executive action to require private gun sellers to conduct background checks on their sales, to direct the ATF to take away the license of any gun dealer who breaks the law, and to ban runaways from buying guns.

Fugitives are already banned from buying guns but Harris is pushing a ban anyway.

Harris also promises to use executive action to block the importation of AR-15 rifles. On May 22, 2019, Breitbart News reported a National Shooting Sports Foundation report which showed that the importation of such rifles has been blocked since 1989, via ATF’s interpretation of import guidelines.

#1  1. Gun violence is the leading cause of death for young Black men & I will take executive action to ensure guns do not fall into the wrong hands.

The ghost of Robert Byrd smiles.

2. ban fugitives from buying guns - Already law.

3. block the importation of AR-15 rifles - "Assault" rifles imports have been banned for 30 years. Great for domestic manufacturing.

So Kamala promises an around-the-world for $20. Takes their donations and runs to her pimp.

#4  Not many AR-15 style rifles are imported. H&K, but they are high-end, not something a criminal would use unless it was stolen anyway. Most of the imported ones are AK platform and since the Ukraine situation sanctions have shifted most of that to US sourced product.

Not that I'd expect someone like Harris to know anything about that.

#6  I doubt she will emerge as the candidate to take on Trump. There is even a slimmer chance she will become POTUS. She will tick-off a large number of law-abiding citizens if she should start using an EO to get heavy handed with gun dictates. She would be asking for a lot of trouble. The 2nd Amend. is the fine line between tyranny and freedom. Besides she seems to have the likeabilty of HRC.

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand: I've 'experienced enormous amounts of white privilege'
How nice for her.
[WASHINGTONTIMES] Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand
...Machine non-entity selected to become the successor to Hillary Clinton as Senatrix-for-Life from Noo Yawk. She is running for the Dem presidential nomination in 2020. She has no observable principles, will apparently say anything to anyone, and seemingly lacks any personality of her own....
teared up in front of a crowd of progressives after admitting that she benefitted in her life from "enormous amounts of white privilege."

During the Netroots Nation conference in Philadelphia over the weekend, the New York senator told a story about a poor, white mother she recently met in Youngstown, Ohio, who couldn’t understand the concept of "white privilege."

"This conversation about white privilege is so important because what she doesn’t see is that as her son grows older, as my sons grow older, there’s going to be moments in his life that his whiteness protects him," she said, according to a video posted by the Washington Examiner.

"His whiteness changes how he’s treated. When he walks down a street in a hoodie with a bag of M&Ms in his pocket, he won’t be shot," she continued, choking back tears. "When her son’s car breaks down and he needs help and walks to someone’s home and knocks on the door, he’s not going to be shot. When her son applies for a job, he’s not going to be discriminated against because of the color of his skin.
He obviously lives nowhere near Atlanta.
"Now as a white woman, who has certainly experienced enormous amounts of white privilege, I travel with a staff member who is black, and I see how she’s being treated differently when we walk into a hotel. I’ve seen it, and it infuriates me," Ms. Gillibrand said, her voice shaking. "So if I don’t understand that it is my responsibility to lift up her voice, to lift up the voices of black and brown Americans every day, then I’m not doing my job as a U.S. senator and I’m not doing my job as a presidential candidate. And that is my responsibility."

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
French gov't supports youth project with ties to Palestinian terror group
Just lovely, messieurs et mesdames. And after all your promises about the importance of protecting the Jews of France... when so many French Jews have felt forced to move to Israel in recent years.
[Jpost] The French government, along with local municipalities in La Belle France, has donated almost €400,000 to a new youth program in east Jerusalem in coordination with a a socio-cultural center run by a convicted member of the terror organization Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine (PFLP), NGO Monitor reported.

On July 10, 2019, at the Jerusalem French Institute a new youth program for east Jerusalem was launched in the presence of UN employees in coordination with the Al Bustan center.

The project, "Towards the Youth of East Jerusalem" was initiated by the RCDP, a French association that supports ties between local French and Paleostinian authorities.

The project is funded by various local French government bodies, including the French Ministry of Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
and Foreign Affairs, who donated €204,000, the municipality of Rennes, €34,286, the municipality of Ivry-Sur-Seine (€21,429), and other French municipalities.

The Al Bustan center is described as a socio-cultural center, and listed as one of their founders, treasurer and contact point for the new project is Daoud Ghoul.

In 2015, Ghoul was convicted in Israel for his membership in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine (PFLP), for which Ghoul served an 18 month sentence.

The PFLP is a secular Marxist-Leninist revolutionary organization affiliated with the Paleostinian Liberation Organization. It has been classified as a terrorist organization by the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, the EU and Israel.

A verdict from a Jerusalem District Court obtained by NGO Monitor stated that Ghoul "has two criminal convictions in his past for membership in a terrorist organization in 2005 and 2006, and for ideologically motivated violent crimes, for which he was sentenced to significant jail sentences of 12 and 18 months. Nevertheless, this was not sufficient to deter him and he returned to commit offenses in the years following his release."

The Al Bustan center, based in Silwan, has a history of promoting violent and anti-Israel ideas among their young members. One post published on Facebook in July 2018 showed pictures of a youth camp, in which young Paleostinians wore different flags representing countries on their shirts. The children representing Israel and the United States brandished guns and proceeded to conduct a mock execution of "Paleostine."

It has also shared praise of terrorist attacks in Israel and propaganda of various terrorist groups through Facebook posts.

The involvement of an international government has led the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a number of Jerusalem City Council members sent an official protest to the French government, raising their concerns about the issue.

EU agrees sanctions against Turkey for drilling off Cyprus
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an Union officials on Monday agreed political and financial sanctions against The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
after Ankara went ahead with drilling operations off Cyprus despite repeated warnings, European diplomats said.

"The conclusions on Turkey have been adopted and they will be made public in the coming hours," the EU’s foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini told news hounds after a meeting with members states’ foreign ministers.

The details are not due to be published until 10:00 pm (2000 GMT), but the most serious measure is understood to be a cut of 145.8 million euros ($164 million) in the European funds allocated to Turkey for 2020.

The European Investment Bank has been asked to revisit the conditions set out for providing financial support to Ankara, according to several European sources.

The EU is also expected to downgrade its dialogue with Turkey, without cutting it off completely.
And one senior European diplomat added: "It has not be ruled out that targeted sanctions be adopted at some time or other."

The EU last month warned Turkey it could face sanctions if it did not cease what the bloc called "illegal" drilling in Cyprus’s exclusive economic zone.

Last week, diplomats began discussing what measures to impose.

Trump signs order to make American-made goods more American
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] President Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
is requiring products "Made in America" to be made using more American components if they are to be used by the government.

Trump says American-made products used for government projects currently can contain 50 percent foreign components and still be considered American. He signed an executive order Monday boosting the percentage of American components to 75 percent.

The president signed the order during an annual White House "Made in America" showcase.

Manufacturers from all 50 states were represented.

Trump says the administration is "heeding the wisdom" of the nation’s founders by "restoring our economic independence and reawakening our industrial might."

Trump also discussed steps the administration is taking to boost the US manufacturing industry. The trade deficit last year widened to a decade-long high of $621 billion.

Iraq sends back 33 Russian IS children to Moscow, 473 IS kids repatriated to home countries so far
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) ‐ Iraqi authorities announced on Monday the deportation of 33 Russian children whose mothers are being held in Iraq for belonging to the Islamic State

terrorist group.

The deportation of the Russian children came after high-level coordination with the Russian Embassy in Baghdad, the foreign ministry’s front man Ahmed al-Sahhaf said in a press statement.

He added that strenuous efforts are being exerted among all parties concerned in Iraq to facilitate the return of Islamic State fighters’ children to their home lands.

Baghdad is currently conducting trials for hundreds of foreign women who Iraqi troops detained during military operations to liberate the country from the grip of the holy warriors over the past few years.

According to Iraq’s counterterrorism law, aiding or membership in the bad boy group carries the penalty of life in prison or death.

473 children born to ISIS parents repatriated from Iraq: ministry

[Rudaw] Iraq has so far returned 473 children born to Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) parents to their home nations, according to Iraq’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The children are of several different nationalities, including Russia, Tajik, German, French, and Ottoman Turkish, among others, the ministry said in a statement Monday.

Thirty-three Russian children were repatriated on June 10 after Iraqi officials and Russian diplomats in Baghdad were satisfied the children had "guardians, and the availability of legal assurances for protecting their rights", the ministry added.

Russian state news agency TASS announced on July 11 that the Russian Emergencies Ministry evacuated more than 30 children of Russian citizens held in a prison in Baghdad.

"A special Il-76 flight belonging to the Russian Emergencies Ministry has arrived from Baghdad to Ramenskoye Airport in the Moscow Region with 33 children of Russian citizens that found themselves in the armed conflict zone," the Russian ministry said in a statement.

Another batch of around 30 children of Russian origin will be evacuated from Iraq in August, TASS said, citing Anna Kuznetsova, Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights.

There are nearly one thousand foreign children born to ISIS parents stuck in legal limbo in Iraq. The UN children’s fund UNICEF has described them as the world’s "most vulnerable children".

"They live in appalling conditions amid constant threats to their health, safety and well-being. They have little family support: While most are stranded with their mothers or other caregivers, many are completely alone," UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore said in a statement back in May.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
We Found Expired Saudi Passport In Epstein's Safe Under A False Name
[Hot Air] This wasn’t the safe on Pedophile Island stashed in a room that no one’s allowed to enter. This was a safe in his ultra-ultra-ultra-luxe Manhattan townhouse.

The guy’s so shady that something as cartoonishly shady as a fake passport doesn’t make the cut for his most secure hiding place. What the hell’s in the safe on the island? The Necronomicon?

Add to this to the list of mysteries, then. How’d Epstein make his money? Who are his "clients," and what service is he providing to them? Why was Alex Acosta allegedly told that he "belonged to intelligence"? And, um, "Jeffrey Epstein" is his real name, isn’t it?
"Just this morning the government became aware of a safe that contained a pile of cash, diamonds, a passport from a foreign country with a picture of the defendant under another name," Assistant U.S. Attorney Alex Rossmiller told U.S. District Judge Richard M. Berman.
Well, some people in gov't... "became aware - just this morning."
"The passport was issued in the name of a foreign country, it was issued in the 1980s, it is expired, it shows a picture of Jeffrey Epstein, and another name," Rossmiller said, adding the passport showed Epstein’s residence as Saudi Arabia.

We can only guess what sort of illegal activity precipitated his decision to get a false passport 30+ years ago, just in case he had to flee the country when the feds were looking for him. Financial fraud? Sex trafficking? And why Saudi Arabia? That seems random since Epstein doesn’t look Arabic. If he was going to choose a country at random in obtaining a forged passport, you would think he’d choose one where he might more plausibly reside. But maybe it isn’t random. Vicky Ward, who’s been following the Epstein story for years, claimed a few days ago that a former senior White House official(!) told her of Epstein, "He knew a lot of rich Arabs, including the crown prince of Saudi Arabia." There’s a photo of Mohammed bin Salman, the Kingdom’s crown prince, in his New York home, in fact.

And from Bright Pebbles:
Inside the Victoria's Secret pipeline to Jeffrey Epstein

[NYPost] Elisabetta Tai, a former Italian model, told the New York Post that she visited the Manhattan residence of Jeffrey Epstein in 2004, when she was 21, and escaped after the wealthy financier stripped naked, laid on a massage table, and handed her a vibrator.

Tai said her booker told her that Epstein, who later registered as a sex offender and now faces sex-trafficking charges, was "in charge of Victoria's Secret" and could get her a modeling gig for the lingerie company's catalog.
I didn't think Victoria had a secret.
Epstein was close with Lex Wexner, the founder and CEO of L Brands, the parent company of Victoria's Secret.
My friend over there is the campus Playboy photographer. Don't let on that you know that, and treat him right. You will get in Playboy.

#8  Ref #5: Was Epstein an "intelligence asset" as has been said. If so, who was running him?

When people have acquired unexplained wealth, travel (or have traveled) abroad on private aircraft using foreign passports and pseudonyms, keep large stashes of USD and diamonds, are accompanied by beautiful women, conduct periodic laision with powerful foreign nationals....well, these certainly are indicators.

As far as a handler, he could have been a stringer for several domestic or overseas entities.

The media continues to say he returned to the US, was immediately arrested, and is being held. I have not been able to discover where he is being held or if bail has been established. There does not appear to be any big rush to free him from confinement by his legal team. Perhaps he is enjoying some type of protective custody.

Robert Maxwell, Israel's Superspy: The Life and Murder of a Media Mogul
Article from 2003, but still interesting.
[Washington Report on ME Affairs 2003] Robert Maxwell rose rocketlike into the stratosphere of international prominence, leaving a trail of sparks behind him as he burst brilliantly on the world scene. As his brilliance faded with the collapse of his business empire, and the world's attention turned to new events and crises, his name drifted into obscurity. The story of Maxwell's life, however, far transcends the brilliant flash of public display.

Skipping down a few paras:

His wife, Betty, rarely saw him, instead spending her lonely days at their country estate, Headington Hill Hall, raising their nine children. Their youngest, Ghislaine, was Maxwell's favorite, and he named his beloved yacht, Lady Ghislaine, after her.

Thai police seize over a ton of crystal meth in raids
That seems an awful lot...
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Police in Thailand say they’ve seized over a ton of crystal methamphetamine in a series of drug raids.

Police said in statements issued Sunday and Monday that they’ve also seized over 10 million methamphetamine tablets this month.

They said they arrested eight people for trafficking over 5 million methamphetamine pills, 600 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, 15.4 kilograms of heroin and 51 kilograms of ketamine. The drugs were discovered Friday in a pickup truck hidden under fruit baskets and at a trafficker’s home.

Police said they seized 459 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine last week that they suspect originated from neighboring Myanmar. The drugs were found in the back of a pickup truck covered under a large green canvas.

282 Held over Unrest in France after Algeria Football Win
Follow up to this report from a few days ago.
[AnNahar] A total of 282 people were arrested in La Belle France after unrest following the Algerian football team's qualification for the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, the interior ministry said Monday.

Riotous celebrations erupted around the country after Algeria beat Nigeria 2-1 in the semi-final. The arrests were made nationwide on Sunday evening, the ministry said.

Some of the arrests were also linked to unrest surrounding events marking La Belle France's national day celebrations on Sunday.

Unruly scenes erupted in Gay Paree, Marseille and Lyon. Fifty people were arrested in the French capital and there were incidents between football fans and police on the Champs-Elysees avenue.

Dozens of cars were torched overnight in the eastern city of Lyon.

Interior Minister Christophe Castaner on Monday congratulated police and firemen for their "speedy reaction and professionalism which contained the violence and to the perpetrators" being apprehended.

Of those arrested, 249 people were in jug.

Last Thursday, when Algeria defeated Ivory Coast to reach the semi-finals, fans went on the rampage in central Gay Paree, looting shops.

On the same day in the southern city of Montpellier, an Algerian football supporter celebrating his team's win lost control of his car at high speed and ran into a family, killing a woman and seriously injuring her baby.

Gay Paree and Marseille are home to large minority communities of Algerian origin. Football celebrations, with supporters brandishing large national flags, have on occasion been a source of tensions.

Man Who Raped 1-Year-Old Daughter, Posted Video of Attack on Dark Web Sentenced to 70 Years
[BREITBART] A man who was accused of raping his one-year-old daughter and posting the video on the dark web for pedophiles has been sentenced to a 70-year prison term.

Bradenton, Florida, resident James Lockhart, 31, was handed the maximum sentence for his crimes on July 12 after pleading guilty to producing child pornography and other charges, the Daily Mail reported.

Lockhart, a former paramedic for the City of Bradenton, was arrested last October when a federal investigation pinpointed his home as the location that the horrendous video was uploaded to the Internet.

Using the names "StrangeWood" and "HardWood," the convict had uploaded a series of four videos showing him sexually molesting his screaming child. Officials said the convict and the child in the video were identified by his ex-wife.

Investigators also said that Lockhart bragged about sexually abusing another child.

"Lockhart’s child pornography collection included infants and sadomasochistic and violent conduct," Homeland Security agent Michael B. Cochran said in a statement. "This deviant committed the most horrible atrocities imaginable to a one-year-old child. HSI’s national and international partnerships have helped ensure that this predator will never again harm a child."

During the investigation, which was part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s "Project Safe Childhood," officials found over 4,000 child porn images in his possession as well as multiple videos.

Alaska man charged with illegally killing polar bear
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] An Alaska man has been charged with the illegal killing of a polar bear in violation of federal law.

Chris Gordon of Kaktovik shot the bear outside his home, leaving the carcass there for five months without salvaging any part of it, according to federal prosecutors.

"Mr. Gordon allegedly left butchered whale meat outside in front of his yard of his residence for a substantial period of time, which attracted polar bear, as well as other animals," said Ryan Tansey, a Fairbanks-based federal prosecutor.

Gordon, 35, faces a year in prison and a maximum fine of $100,000 if convicted, Alaska’s Energy Desk reported.

Gordon declined to comment about the case, which is scheduled for an August court appearance in Fairbanks.

Self-defense killings of animals are allowed under the Marine Mammal Protection Act. But Gordon did not report the polar bear or tag it as required, Tansey said.

Coastal Alaska Natives also may harvest polar bears for crafts or subsistence, but not in a wasteful way.

The North Slope village has become a destination for tourists and polar bears in a warming Arctic.

Mike Gallagher, a city council member in the village, is among Kaktovik residents who have expressed concerns about the encroaching bears.

"The bear’s underneath my house in the morning when I go to work," Gallagher said at a public meeting in June. "Would it be your kid? Would it be my kid? It could be anybody down the street. These bears are getting used to people. They’re domesticated."

Drug dealer in Florida caught hiding crack, heroin, pills and other drugs in buttocks
[FOX8] A routine traffic stop leads to the arrest of a known drug dealer in Florida.
"Step away from the car and keep yer hands up, Florida Man!"
According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy pulled Derick McKay over for speeding on July 11.
[Rrrrrr!]
When he started talking to McKay, he noticed that he seemed nervous and that there was a smell of marijuana.
"Hmm... Smells like Marijuana the Killer Weed... and... and butt."
McKay claimed he didn’t have anything illegal in his custody, but that turned out to be a lie.
"Nope. Nope. Not me!"
"Yer lips just fell off."
"Nid ney?"

*snort*
After he was brought to jail for driving on a suspended license, he confessed to hiding narcotics in his buttocks.
Ewwww!
He then proceeded to remove more than a dozen small baggies.
More than a dozen is thirteen, maybe fourteen.
They included a small baggie of crack, eight small baggies of heroin, two small baggies of Molly, a small baggie of marijuana, 12 Lortab pills, and 12 Oxycodone pills.
That makes fourteen, unless the pills weren't in bags.
McKay is now facing multiple charges and is currently being held without bond.
"Yer honor, the accused is charged with adulterating Marijuana the Killer Weed with ass."
"How do you plead, Florida Man?"

The sheriff’s office said he has a criminal history dating back to 2008.
That's more than ten years.

Kamala Harris took money from firm behind Jeffrey Epstein plea deal
[NY Post] Presidential hopeful Kamala Harris ripped a law firm's work on a controversial plea deal involving deep-pocketed pedophile Jeffrey Epstein ‐ the same day she took money from some of its attorneys at a fundraiser.

Harris had no problem allowing six partners from the firm, Kirkland & Ellis, help raise dough for her campaign last week by hosting the Chicago event ‐ which even featured her husband, lawyer Douglas Emhoff, the Associated Press reported.

Yet the same day, she joined several other presidential contenders in blasting the 2008 plea deal that the law firm helped negotiate for Epstein, which allowed him to skirt federal sex charges in Florida.

Afghan radio station shuts down after threats by suspected Taliban
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A private radio station in Afghanistan has shut down after numerous threats from a suspected Taliban
...Arabic for students...
commander who objected to women working as presenters, officials at the radio station said on Monday.

The incident comes as the Taliban are discussing a peace deal with the United States that could see them re-joining mainstream society, and that has brought new scrutiny of their attitudes to issues like women’s rights and the media.

The private radio station, Samaa, has been broadcasting political, religious, social and entertainment programs in the central province of Ghazni since 2013.

Its 13 employees, including three women presenters, broadcast in Afghanistan’s two main languages - Dari and Pashto.

The radio station’s director, Ramez Azimi, said Taliban commanders in the area had sent written warnings and telephoned in, to tell the radio station to stop employing women.

"The Taliban also came to my house and issued a threat," Azimi said.

He said the threats had forced him to suspend broadcasts.

Taliban front man Zabihullah Mujahid denied that a Taliban commander had issued the threats.

"We are trying to find details," said Mujahid.

The Taliban say many people falsely identify themselves as Taliban, often in the course of private disputes.

Several districts of Ghazni are under Taliban control.

Over 590 Civilians Killed In Afghanistan In Three Months
[ToloNews] Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission documented 2,488 civilian casualties in the past three months.

New figures by Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) indicate that 596 non-combatants were killed and 1,892 others were maimed in festivities between government forces and the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
and other attacks by Death Eaters in Afghanistan since the beginning of the current solar year which coincides with March 21, 2019.

The CEO of the AIHRC, Musa Mahmoodi, told TOLOnews that 733 of the victims are children who
have either been killed or maimed in the conflicts during the period.
"Unfortunately, measures were not taken to reduce the number of civilian casualties," he said. "In some areas, we saw a sharp rise among vulnerable victims."

He said the operations in which the casualties happened were carried out by pro-government forces against Death Eaters in different parts of the country. But he added that "the Taliban were involved in most part of the casualties".

The figures, he said, cover the past three months.

A front man for the Ministry of Defense, Rohullah Ahmadzai, said the government forces are implementing measures to protect civilians during their operations.

"Narrow mistakes are committed in some cases in which civilians are hurt but we are working on full prevention of harm [to civilians[," Ahmadzai said.

UN REPORT ON CIVILIAN CASUALTIES
The UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan said in a quarterly report on April 24 that it has documented high levels of harm to civilians but adds that there has been a 23 percent decrease in overall civilian casualties as compared to the same period last year and is the lowest for a first quarter since 2013.

The report says the UN documented 1,773 civilian casualties (581 deaths and 1,192 injured), including 582 child casualties (150 deaths and 432 injured) between January 1 and March 31.

In the first quarter of 2018, UNAMA documented 2,305 civilian casualties (799 deaths and 1,506 injured), including 609 child casualties (176 deaths and 433 injured), the report says.

The overall reduction of civilian casualties was driven by a decrease in civilian casualties by suicide improvised bomb (IED) attacks, the report says.

UNAMA notes the particularly harsh winter conditions during the first three months of the year, which may have contributed to this trend, the report says.

It is unclear whether the decrease in civilian casualties was influenced by any measures taken by parties to the conflict to better protect civilians, or by the ongoing talks between parties to the conflict, the report mentions.

Iraqi security forces kill eight terrorists in Salahuddin
Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) ‐ An Iraqi joint force killed on Monday eight faceless myrmidons during a security operation in Salahuddin province, a police chief said.

Speaking to the privately-owned Alghad Press website, Salahuddin Police Chief Maj. Gen. Kandil al-Jabouri said that a joint force, backed by the U.S.-led international coalition warplanes, carried out a security operation in the Siniya island, west of Salahuddin province.

"The troops managed to kill eight faceless myrmidons and destroyed an armored vehicle during the operation," al-Jabouri said.

He added that the security operation is still going on to pursue other terrorists.

SpaceX and NASA detail cause of Dragon test failure, crewed flight this year looks ‘increasingly difficult’
[TechCrunch] SpaceX held a press conference on Monday to discuss the results of a months-long investigation conducted by itself and NASA into an anomaly that took place during a static fire test in April. The investigation found that the “anomaly” that occurred during the test was the result of oxidizer mixing with the helium component of the SuperDraco rocket engine propellant system at very high pressure.

On April 20, SpaceX held an abort engine test for a prototype of its Crew Dragon vehicle (which had been flown previously for the uncrewed ISS mission). Crew Dragon is designed to be the first crew-carrying SpaceX spacecraft, and is undergoing a number of tests to prove to NASA its flight-readiness. After the first few tests proved successful, the test encountered a failure that was instantly visible, with an unexpected explosion that produced a plume of fire visible for miles around the testing site at its Landing Zone 1 facility in Cape Canaveral, Fla.

SpaceX VP of Build & Flight Reliability Hans Koenigsmann and NASA Commercial Crew Program Manager Kathy Lueders took members of the media through the results of their joint investigation into the cause of this anomaly. Koenigsmann explained there were identifying burn marks around a check valve in the system that’s meant to separate the oxidizer and fuel components under pressure. These check valves contain a spring that can be opened to allow flow in the direction you want the propellant components to go, but in this case a “leaky” check valve resulted in a “slug,” composed of high-pressure oxidizer, striking a titanium component that caused a very violent reaction.

Both Lueders and Koenigsmann noted that it was in many ways “a gift” that this happened during a ground test because there were many high-speed cameras to capture the incident, and it was relatively easy to comb the site and recover components to best figure out the cause of the anomaly. Koenigsmann also noted that while the team is confident in sharing these results, they are actually only approximately 80% through the investigation and there is about 20% left to do in terms of figuring out additional details, mostly around the physics involved.

Koenigsmann said that SpaceX is already implementing a crucial hardware fix for this, which is to replace the check valve with a burst valve. A burst valve completely separates the oxidizer and fuel from any pressurization liquid, which will mitigate this issue and definitely “make Crew Dragon a safer vehicle,” he said.

Afghan Returnees Face Economic Difficulties: Report
[ToloNews] The report analyzes the living conditions of the large Afghan refugee population that returned from Pakistain between 2014 and 2017.

Afghan refugees who returned to Afghanistan between 2014 and 2017 tend to be worse off financially and face multiple economic difficulties compared to refugees who stayed in Pakistain, the World Bank and UNHCR in Afghanistan said in a new report released on Sunday.

The report entitled "Living Conditions and Settlement Decisions of Recent Afghan Returnees" is the first joint report resulting from the collaboration between UNHCR Afghanistan and the World Bank.

The report shows that despite high poverty and limited employment opportunities, most Afghans returned to their home provinces, with Kabul and Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
provinces together hosting a third of all returnees.

Most Afghans returned to their home provinces, with Kabul and Nangarhar provinces together hosting a third of all returnees.
Afghans living in their province of origin were more likely to be employed, benefitting from established social ties. Lower access to education and healthcare services are other challenges faced by returnees and host communities, the report highlights, according to the report.

"The living conditions of Afghan returnees are extremely challenging and require deep and urgent attention," Henry Kerali, World Bank Country Director for Afghanistan said in the report.

"To understand the fundamental needs and challenges Afghan returnees face in their daily lives and to identify and agree on the best ways of addressing those challenges, access to accurate data and analysis is key. Our joint report with UNHCR helps increase coordination among partners and improve the work in support of Afghan returnees," he said.

"In 2019, we are marking 40 years of Afghan displacement, and while several programs are in place to assist returnees and facilitate their sustainable reintegration in Afghanistan much remains to be done," Caroline Van Buren, UNHCR’s Representative in Afghanistan said.

"The data and analysis in this report will be crucial to UNHCR and our partners, including the Government of Afghanistan, as we try to improve the way we support Afghan returnees," he said.

The report assesses the existing challenges and identifies opportunities to further enhance returnees’ sustainable reintegration within Afghanistan’s socio-economic landscape. It recommends focusing on the voluntary and gradual repatriation of Afghan refugees as a long-term solution to forced displacement and encourages the Government of Afghanistan and its partners to put in place measures to facilitate the return in safety and dignity.

Even more oppose D.C.'s existence on principle....
In the poll released Monday, 64% of those polled said they oppose making D.C. a state, while only 29% favor it.

None of the major subgroups in the poll favored making D.C. a state, with support being highest among liberals at 40% and lowest among conservatives at 14%.

Afghanistan
US Special Forces Soldier Killed In Faryab
We now have a name and a face (see photo of the sergeant major at the link) to go with this report from a few days ago. Rest in peace, sir, with our thanks for all you volunteered to do.
[ToloNews] Sartor was from Teague, Texas, and was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group in Fort Carson, Colorado.

A decorated Special Forces company sergeant major has died during combat in Afghanistan, the US military officials said Sunday.

James G. Ryan Sartor, 40, was killed Saturday during combat operations in Faryab Province, Lt. Col. Loren Bymer, front man for the US Army Special Operations Command said as quoted by AP.

He joined the Army in 2001 as an infantryman and had deployed numerous times to Iraq and Afghanistan, according to a statement from Bymer.

Sartor had received more than two dozen awards and decorations and will posthumously receive a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

"We're incredibly saddened to learn of Sgt. Maj. James 'Ryan' Sartor's passing in Afghanistan. Ryan was a beloved warrior who epitomized the quiet professional," Col. Brian R. Rauen, commander of the 10th Special Forces Group, said in a statement. "He led his Soldiers from the front and his presence will be terribly missed."

A statement from the Department of Defense said Sartor was injured by enemy small arms fire.

Bymer said he couldn't provide any further details about the circumstances that led to Sartor's death. The incident is under investigation.

A day earlier, in a telephone interview with The News Agency that Dare Not be Named, Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
front man Zabihullah Mujahed said the murderous Moslem group was behind the killing.

Mujahed said two US service personnel were killed when Talibs attacked a tank in Sayed Abad district of central Wardak province, barely 70 kilometers south of the Afghan capital, Kabul.

Sartor's death was the only one reported by US officials, and the Taliban often exaggerate their claims.
Khaama Press adds:
Pentagon in a statement said Sgt. Maj. James G. Sartor was supporting Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.

The statement further added “Sgt. Maj. James G. Sartor, 40, of Teague, Texas, died July 13, 2019, in Faryab Province, Afghanistan, as a result of injuries sustained from enemy small arms fire during combat operations.”

Ilhan Omar, the Wagnerian Phenomenon
[SPECTATOR.ORG] Ilhan Omar
...Somali-American Dem representative from Minnesota. She is apparently married to her brother and may be her own grandmaw on her mother's side...
, rescued from the misery of a childhood that might have been without hope to become a member of the most powerful legislative body on the planet, feels betrayed by her rescuers. Her rescuers, she tells us, did not live up to their ideal.

America, at least, aspires to ideals, enshrines them in law, and makes an attempt to achieve them. No, it is not the gap between our aspirations and our behavior, an indelible and ineluctable part of the human condition, that bothers Omar.

Rather, it is because we possess humanistic values that her life has been infinitely transformed for the better. Our aspirations to kindness and caring and our exhilaration upon witnessing the triumph of the individual over adversity are the values that made Omar.

But, like Wagner, she cannot tolerate it. Her success is darkened by the daily recognition of who made it happen.

And, like Wagner, Omar has shown a particular animus toward Jews, questioning their loyalty and resurrecting empty tropes about their control of the corridors of power she so confidently walks.

Would Omar have become so successful had she been rescued by a Moslem country? We will never know, because Moslem countries did not take in Somali Moslems for fear of the impact on their culture and stability.

Only the Western, Christian countries extended a hand beyond cultures to take in these people, some of whom became hostile and ungrateful to their rescuers.

Ilhan Omar’s district is the seed corn for ISIS in the Middle East, not just in Somalia. Liberals dismiss this behavior as being due to white racism without considering the impact of the Somalis’ own culture and their dislocation on their choices. Of course, one brush should not paint an entire community.

Ilhan Omar could have been a role model for her community. Instead, she has become a malcontent hater of the people and culture that saved her. Her behavior ‐ not those who call her out ‐ raises serious issues about whom we can and should rescue. If she truly felt less alienated in a Kenyan refugee camp because she could express her "full self" than she feels as a member of Congress, she knows the way back.

#2  America should have remembered these humanistic values when they were importing slaves traded by the African slavers for their farms then. But they couldn't because they probably didn't exist.

These are political ideals based on semantic associations of 'kindness' with good, and 'triumph over adversity' with achievement of something noble. All resulting from faithless philosophy that seeks justifications for newer and newer liberties through self-righteous posturing. Much like the Catholic Church. And what if 'triumph over adversity' today should mean getting elected to the HoR and weaponizing immigrants against citizens, to avenge some historic slight ?

Every organism tries to better its own conditions, its survivability rate and longevity. There is no implicit promise in the well-intentioned idiocy of inviting aliens, that they will reward you with gratitude and loyalty. People just went by their own ideas of what-should-be, in trusting 'ideals' instead of truths. You basically owned a class of people, moved them about as cattle, traded and bred them, all the while opining about how they were 'primates' and condescending once in a while with sops and special treatment. Resentment and tribal rage just seethed, under a farce of courtesy all through a century. Them one day, over-educated, overcome with communal guilt And maybe high on psilocybes , you gave them suffrage, right to contest, hold office and then they granted themselves free education, free money, immunity from laws ! WTF did you expect ?! Before you should think this is a racist rant, I don't believe in segregation or superiority. I only believe that a nation's people be committed to one (or at least similar) ideal. The idea of accommodating a thousand different beliefs and cultures within your territory is something even God warned against.

America should have aspired to those ideals enshrined in the Word of God, on which the land was founded. Ideals posited by 'thinkers' and 'reformers' are what sank this boat. Ilhan Omar is no different from Elijah Cummings or Barack Obama or for that matter Martin Luther King. They are all opportunist ravagers, empowered by a constantly seething pot of more ravagers and stirred with historic racial hatred for America and her allies. Who says Omar's not a role model already ? She is a role model for her community. A community that has not wavered in its faiths or historic pretensions for centuries, unlike America who doesn't know which side is up anymore.

It is believed (wrongly, I hope) that satanism and scientiology-like groups are the fastest growing cults in the US right now. While the 'champions of the Cross' are jet-setting with lobbyists and scamming people into buying them mansions and yachts. America hardened their hearts to calls for right living by sane preachers they called 'holy rollers' and idiots, through the 20s... the 40s, until the 60s brought with them 'the ravager to destroy'.

Semantics for ideals cannot support a nation. Only convictions can. Your enemy has it in much greater numbers. If America is to become great again, the people shall have to go back to God. Get on their knees in their homes and pray, buy Bibles and read them. Pray for their leader, pray for each other, pray for divine interference for the sake of justice, pray against injustice and tyranny.

I know it sounds stupid to many of you, and 'how is this relevant to Ilhan' ? My point is that like all current 'elites', this thinker too supposes the rise of the Omars and Obamas in America is due to your incredible affinity for tolerance and appreciation for human will and tenacity. That it was the 'ideals enshrined' in American culture that enabled these ascensions. I'm saying it was more a lack of realideals and conformity to self-righteous conventions.

#3  Ilhan Omar is reprehensible but that's actually a good thing. This is because she conspicuously represents the ascendant wing of the Dem party.

Many people somehow believe that the Dem's love America and they just go a bit too far into social engineering. For those people, Rep Omar is a rebuke of their comfortable illusion.

And of all the "Moslems are just Episcopalians with veils" people, Rep Omar has a lesson for them too.

#5  The ancient Greeks got one thing right, the need to exile traitors and those who try to destroy society from within. An oversight of our Founding Fathers.

Ah...not quite. The most virulent snakes were removed from the nest. Between the Treaty of Paris 1783 and the ratification of the 'Bill of Rights' in 1791, left a good deal of time to purge the new nation of the threat within. Our aristocracy judiciary is the biggest obstruction to our security via the Sedition Act.

Given that new citizens take an oath of allegiance to the Constitution as well as all Congresscritters, individuals who have publicly denounced said document seem to be engaged in fraud one way or another.

The value of Omar is that she clearly demonstrates that it is no longer the Democratic Party, but the Communist Party to which it evolved. Quite calling them liberals. Call them what they are, communists.

#6  My attitude towards "Ms. Blackhawk Down" is:
1) She obviously does not believe in the Constitution.
2) She has stated that she feels threatened by America.
3) She has stated that she feels proud of Al Qaeda.

Therefore, WTF is she doing in Congress? Regardless of how many votes she got, she still has to swear to uphold the US Constitution. She actually wants to DESTROY the US constitution. Having her in congress is like having Himmler in congress during WWII.

Dron you're once again a blow hard trying to impress without having a freaking point. I and several others live here, let me drop a clue.

This piece of shit is a protected class. The Minnesota media, national news and the deep swamp Minnesota FBI refuse to report nor investigate her.

Specifically Obama's The head of the FBI for Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota Special Agent Rick Thornton refused to investigate Omar. That fraud FBI Director Christopher Wray appointmented some Jill Sanborn as the special agent in charge of the Minneapolis Division. She supposedly served as the section chief of the International Operations Section II, in the Counterterrorism Division.

To point, not ONE Somanimal has been charged with the stolen Minnesota daycare millions that were shipped back in suitcases (funding jihad) to Somalia.

Why is she specifically protected?
Omar is not a Christian
Is a fundamentalist jihad mooslim (see not Christian)
Black women
Somalian
Democrat

If anyone in the press or FBI were doing their jobs, Omar would be in Federal prison awaiting deportation.

All this has nothing to do with "real ideals and conformity to self-righteous conventions" waste of a byte asshat.

#11  I'm not offended, even if you have made my point. It was not about Omar. It was about what you value. It's more depressing than anything. The 'liberal' and 'humanistic' values so celebrated by the article are precisely what's being used to such effect against you. Not all of them are in consonance with the faith that your country was founded upon. But mention God, and off you go. You think a senate committee will deliver you from out of this shit ? Or a single administration ? Who's responsible for this mess if not the idiot voters themselves ? And where have they fallen from ?

Which brings us to Omar, and she is just a symptom. The day she insisted that she will take oath on a Koran, she should have been shown the door, disqualified from her candidature, and we wouldn't be having this dialogue. Even if you're caught in a conflict between Bible and Bourbon my contention is easy to understand, Woodrow. Talking about God and loyalty to christian values is never 'impressive'. It's the first step to losing friends, which is why people stopped doing it. And why the Omar's are ruling.

In Iran, some take off their hijabs as hard-liners push back
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The simple act of walking has become a display of defiance for a young Iranian woman who often moves in Tehran’s streets without a compulsory headscarf, or hijab.

With every step, she risks harassment or even arrest by Iran’s morality police whose job it is to enforce the strict dress code imposed after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

There’s anecdotal evidence that more women are pushing back against the dress code, trying to redefine red lines as they test the response of the ruling Shiite Moslem clergy and their security agencies.

An News Agency that Dare Not be Named news hound spotted about two dozen women in the streets without a hijab over the course of nine days, mainly in well-to-do areas of Tehran - a mall, a lakeside park, a hotel lobby.

Tennessee police warn not to flush drugs down toilet for fear of creating 'meth-gators'
Okay, some quick research shows this is Loretto, Tennessee - a town of 1,752 on the Alabama border. It has the Shoal Creek that connects to Muscle Shoals area in Alabama, and Blue Water Creek. Recently a small 4.5 foot gator was seen somewhere nearby. So when the cops spotted a perp flushing meth they tied it to water then water to gators. ... sigh..

#2  No, they will steal everything they can from you and sell it to fuel their habit...

And you can shoot them several times and they will keep on attacking you until they run out of blood.

Far from harmless.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Democrats Mum as Bodies Stack up in Gun-Controlled Chicago
[Breitbart] Democrats who lined up to push gun control after the shootings in Virginia Beach, Tree of Life Synagogue, and Parkland, remain conspicuously silent as 40-plus individuals are shot weekend after weekend in Chicago.

To be clear, the lost lives at Virginia Beach (12 killed), the Tree of Life Synagogue (11 killed), and Parkland (17 killed), are not to be downplayed in any way. Yet they also ought not be exploited. Nevertheless, Democrats line up for camera and microphone time after these attacks‐or go on a Twitter binge‐in hopes of using the events to push even more gun control.

These same Democrats remain almost unanimously mum as gun control fails to curb the mayhem and bloodshed in Chicago. Even though the death numbers in Chicago are without equal.

Think about it‐The Chicago Tribune reported 437 murders in Chicago in 2011, 506 in 2012, 420 in 2013, 416 in 2014, and 468 in 2015. Breitbart News reported 800 fatalities from shootings in 2016. And the devil is in the details, as there were nearly 4,400 shootings ‐ fatal and non-fatal combined ‐ in gun-controlled Chicago during 2016.

And consider the more recent past. At least 56 were shot, four fatally, in gun-controlled Chicago during the weekend of June 28‐30, 2019. Breitbart News reported that at least 66 were shot, five killed, over Fourth of July Weekend 2019. And at least 41 were shot, nine fatally, over the weekend of July 12-14, 2019.

Gun control is inhumane. And ignoring the failures of gun control in Chicago, while trying to exploit other attacks around the country for the purposes of more gun laws, is beyond the pale.

#1  in Chicago

about 650 homicides in 2017
about 560 homicides in 2018
about 260 homicides in first 6 months of 2019

not all homicides are murder, quite a few are self defense or accidental; I'm not sure if the author knows this

a huge share, probably the majority, of homicides in Chicago (and many other places) is gang related or crime related and the number of homicides in a given week depends a lot on the degree of intra gang hostility that week and how much the police are trying to control it

Britain
Ousted UK ambassador leaked US intelligence
[WashingtonExaminer] Leaked U.K. diplomatic cables critical of President Trump have led Britain’s ambassador, Sir Kim Darroch, to announce his departure from Washington earlier than expected. But the story is not yet concluded.

According to one current and one former U.S. government official speaking on the condition of anonymity, Darroch repeatedly leaked classified U.S. intelligence information, including highly classified information, to a journalist for a U.S.-based media outlet. The sources are consolidated by the reaction my related inquiries have received from other government officials.

These leaks are unrelated to the diplomatic cables which sparked Trump's anger and Darroch's departure.

Still, one source says that the U.S. government was so alarmed by Darroch's leaks that it launched an official investigation to find the source of the information. That source described the leaked intelligence as "very sensitive," and suggested that exigent U.S. security concerns motivated the investigation. That source says that non-U.S. government derived records showed the ambassador and journalist exchanging messages on a continuing basis. The source emphasized that these communications were not derived from U.S. government actions.

A second source, a career government official, described the leaks as "unprecedented."

The Washington Examiner has been unable to confirm how long any investigation continued or whether it has since been suspended. But concern inside the U.S. government over the leaks was significant.

One of the sources said that the ambassador repeatedly transmitted highly classified U.S. originator-control intelligence information to the journalist. ORCON intelligence, as it's called in the intelligence world, is closely held and carefully distributed. At least some of this information was classified at the "Five Eyes" alliance classification level, meaning it was distributed by the U.S. only to Australia, Britain, Canada, and New Zealand. Some intelligence may also have been classified at the U.S.-U.K. only level. Such intelligence is transmitted only on the condition of established protocols and the assumption it will be closely held.

The implications here are thus significant for two reasons.

While there is no indication that Ambassador Darroch was targeted as an investigative subject, even if incidental to Darroch, any investigative attention towards a British ambassador will raise eyebrows. Five Eyes protocols prohibit intelligence monitoring of allies. While this rule is occasionally bent, its malleability is tempered by the need to sustain shared trust.

Conversely, were the ambassador of America’s closest ally found to have leaked highly classified U.S. intelligence, it would undercut the trusting relationship of the two closest allies.

Yet it must be said that this risk is not new.

While U.S. and Britain retain the closest and most successful intelligence relationship of any two nations (near-symbiotic between the U.S. National Security Agency and its British counterpart, Government Communications Headquarters), sensitive leaks in media have occurred repeatedly in both directions across the Atlantic.

Following the May 2017 suicide bombing of a concert in Manchester, England, U.S. media leaks of British intelligence led Britain to temporarily suspend the sharing of certain intelligence material with the U.S. government. At the time, Trump described those leaks as "deeply troubling" and said that Prime Minister Theresa May was "very angry." In 2006, British intelligence officials were similarly enraged by U.S. action against al Qaeda operations officer, Rashid Rauf, at the culmination of an investigation into a plot against transatlantic passenger aircraft departing Britain.

Still, for both nations there is perhaps some solace here. Darroch has announced he will leave his post once a successor is appointed.

The White House and Justice Department declined to comment. As of publication the British Embassy did not respond to a request for comment.
