Leader Of ISIS In Afghanistan Killed By US Forces 3 Months After Assuming Command
[Task&Purpose] The leader of ISIS forces in Afghanistan was killed in a U.S. strike in eastern Afghanistan last week, the Department of Defense confirmed on July 14.

Abu Sayed had served as the emir of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria-Khorasan, known as ISIS-K, for less than three months when American troops raided the group’s headquarters in Afghanistan’s Kunar Province on June 11, killing him and an unspecified number of other militants.

Sayed’s predecessor, Abdul Hasib, suffered a similar fate. Hasib was killed on April 27 in a raid carried out by U.S. Special Operations troops in Nangarhar Province, where the group has been most active since surfacing in the region more than two years ago. Sayed is the fourth emir of ISIS-K to die in a U.S. strike.

Afghan and U.S. forces launched a campaign in eastern Afghanistan in early March to, as the Pentagon characterized it, “send a clear message to ISIS that there is no sanctuary for their fighters in Afghanistan.” Hundreds of ISIS fighters have been killed or captured in the operation, which has distracted from the bigger mission of beating back a resurgent Taliban.

There are currently roughly 8,400 U.S. troops in Afghanistan with several thousand more expected to deploy there in the coming months. Bolstered by about 5,000 additional NATO troops, their primary mission is to advise and assist Afghan forces fighting the Taliban, as the U.S. enters its 16th year in a war launched in response to the September 11 terror attacks.

Minneapolis Police Shoot Unarmed Woman In Pajamas ‐ With Bodycams Off
[HotAir] The Twin Cities law enforcement community finds itself in another deadly shooting controversy just days after St. Anthony police offered a buyout to an officer acquitted in the Philando Castile shooting last year [see update]. Late Saturday night, a woman who had called Minneapolis police to report suspicious noises in the area got shot and killed while talking to the responding officers. Justine Damond, an immigrant from Australia, was unarmed at the time — and the body cams that Minneapolis police promised would keep everyone accountable had been inexplicably turned off:

#6  And once the dust has cleared and we find out what really did happen, both cops should be summarily discharged from the force for having the body cams off. This is EXACTLY the type of situation that body cams were supposed to be present for, and these officers did the force a huge disservice (even if found innocent of the shooting) by not having video evidence of what took place.

#7  My guess is they showed up and the crime was long over and they were flirting and showing off which is why the bodycams were off. Then the idiot in the passenger seat discharged his weapon by accident.

New Research Calls Global Warming Data... 'Not a Valid Representation of Reality'
[PJ] A new report that analyzed Global Average Surface Temperature (GAST) data generated by NASA and the NOAA found that it's complete bunk.

The paper was peer-reviewed by some notable scientists with some pretty impressive credentials who agree with the report's conclusions. Among them:
Dr. Alan Carlin, Retired Senior Analyst and manager, US Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, DC.; Author, Environmentalism Gone Mad, Stairway Press, 2015; Ph.D., Economics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA; BS, Physics, California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA.

Are PBS and Ken Burns about to Rewrite History Again?
[American Thinker] PBS is planning to run a new documentary series this September on the Vietnam War, produced and written by Ken Burns. Burns is a left-wing "historian" and documentary film producer with a history of having his politics shape the narrative of the story he is telling, with a number of resulting inaccuracies.

Ken Burns correctly identifies the Vietnam War as being the point at which our society split into two diametrically opposed camps. He is also correct in identifying a need for us to discuss this aspect of our history in a civil and reflective manner. The problem is that the radical political and cultural divisions of that war have created alternate perceptions of reality, if not alternate universes of discourse. The myths and propaganda of each side make rational discourse based on intellectual honesty and goodwill difficult or impossible. The smoothly impressive visual story Burns will undoubtedly deliver will likely increase that difficulty. He has done many popular works in the past, some of which have been seriously criticized for inaccuracies and significant omissions, but we welcome the chance of a balanced treatment of the full history of that conflict. We can only wait and watch closely when it goes public.

The term "Vietnam War" itself, although accepted in common parlance, would more accurately be called "The American Phase of the Second Indochina War" (1965 to 1973). The U.S. strategic objectives in Vietnam must also be accurately defined. There were two inter-related goals: 1) to counter the Soviet and Red Chinese strategy of fostering and supporting "Wars of National Liberation" (i.e., violent Communist takeovers) in third-world nations, and 2) to defend the government of the Republic of (South) Vietnam from the military aggression directed by its Communist neighbor, the Democratic Republic of (North) Vietnam.

Arguments offered by the so-called "anti-war" movement in the United States were predominantly derived from Communist propaganda. Most of them have been discredited by subsequent information, but they still influence the debate. They include the nonfactual claims that:

1) the war in South Vietnam was an indigenous civil war,

2) the U.S. effort in South Vietnam was a form of neo-colonialism, and

3) the real U.S. objective in South Vietnam was the economic exploitation of the region.

Successful Cleveland Clinic caters to 'paying' patients, cash, check, or insurance
[Politico] CLEVELAND ‐ On the Cleveland Clinic’s sprawling campus one day last year, the hospital’s brain trust sat in all-white rooms and under soaring ceilings, looking down on a park outside and planning the next expansion of the $8 billion health system. A level down, in the Clinic’s expansive alumni library, staff browsed century-old texts while exhausted doctors took naps in cubbies. And in the basement, a cutting-edge biorobotics lab was simulating how humans walk using a cyborg-like meld of metallic and cadaver parts.

And about a block away -- and across the street that separates the Clinic from the surrounding Fairfax neighborhood -- a woman named Shelley Wheeler was trying to reattach the front door of her house. She’d had a break-in the night before.

Wheeler has lived in the neighborhood for almost 50 years and seen it wither; her street is dotted by vacant lots and blighted homes. Infant mortality is almost three times the national average. But she’s also warily watched as one player continues to grow: The health system with gleaming towers that are visible from her front stoop.

"Cleveland Clinic is just eating everything up that they can," she said, pointing to the 17-block stretch of land where the system has steadily expanded -- to the frustration and protests of Wheeler and her neighbors.

"At some point, Cleveland Clinic is going to come" for her land, she added. "When, we don’t know. I’m trying to save my house," Wheeler said -- before excusing herself to meet with police, investigating her break-in.

Trump-Hatred Is All About Islam
President Trump's overall approval rating may have fallen, but there's one issue on which he has the support of 60% of the American public. That's the proposed travel ban from certain Muslim-majority countries, according to a Politico-Morning Consult poll earlier this month. In fact, Trump has enjoyed the support of a plurality of all voters, Democratic as well as Republican, since he first proposed a travel ban in December 2015. Trump's boldness horrified the Establishment but probably won him the nomination; three-quarters of Republican voters in the key South Carolina primary backed the travel ban. The whole Republican leadership abhorred him (Paul Ryan in Dec. 2015 accused Trump of "violating the Constitution"). Well, Trump won and the Republican leadership lost.

It's always been about Islam--the camel in the living room, to coin a phrase. One and a quarter billion people, roughly a fifth of the world's population, cannot make the leap from tribal society into the modern world. Their anguish and rage is a source of continuous instability and an occasional threat to the security of Western countries.

Western leaders from George W. Bush to Pope Francis I struggled to avoid a clash of civilizations, praising Islam as a religion of peace. Trump, by contrast, told Muslim leaders in Saudi Arabia May 21 that the onus was on them to extirpate terrorists from their countries and mosques. Trump isn't seeking civilizational war. He's giving Muslim leaders fair warning and a chance to avoid it.

That is what the whole kerfuffle is about. The Democrats' notion of intersectional victimization includes Muslims as victims of Western colonialism and "people of color" (never mind that Islam launched the bloodiest wars of conquest of which we have records and created the African slave trade). The Republican Establishment and their neo-con punditeska view the Muslim world as a giant laboratory for the export of democracy. The CIA and the rest of the Deep State made a good living selling arms from the stockpile of the late Col Qaddafi (whom the U.S. helped overthrow in 2011) to "moderate Syrian rebels" -- directly or indirectly abetting the rise of ISIS, as Gen. Mike Flynn warned in a now-celebrated 2012 Defense Intelligence Agency memo. The Europeans want a long-term accommodation with Islam as they drift slowly into demographic oblivion.

Trump humiliated his own party's Establishment. He negotiated a ceasefire in southwestern Syria with Russia and Jordan, the first positive step towards ending the butchery in that miserable country since the 2011 "Arab Spring." As he said throughout the campaign, he's willing to give Russia the chance to unite with the U.S. against barbarism--proving himself a tough and canny negotiator with the slippery Kremlin bosses.

Russia is part of the issue, but indirectly: The neo-cons thought that a democratized, pro-American Muslim world could be turned against Russia; Trump doesn't care much how the Russians govern themselves as long they help contain strategic threats to the United States. (Neither do I.) That's what "America First" means; we look at what other countries do according to what advances our interests, NOT according to what we imagine is best for them. So far, Trump has done exactly what he promised to do during the campaign, and made a certain amount of progress.

#1  Outside the U.S., perhaps.

Inside the U.S., NO.

Absolutely NO, outside of the NPR-listening pseudointellectual class.

Inside our borders, Trump-hatred is about MONEY, period, stop.

100% of nonmilitary government workers are overpaid here. Add to that the various forms of welfare and you have a level of fear of loss of comfort and status that causes exactly this kind of idiocy.

Any sort of threat to the metric-free, anxiety-free government funded income stream that one out of five workers in the U.S. (and all of their immediate families who depend upon that magic check) now receive will be met with this sort of hysterical hatred. This is why Republicans who claim that someone other than Trump would not be this polarizing are either stupid or lying.

No government employee will ever understand a logical argument against his precious magic paycheck. The person delivering the message matters not.

#2  Of course it's material considerations no mo uro. However give some thought to how they justify (to themselves) their bloated salaries, and their immunity from persecution when they use their position (from lowest DMV clerk to erstwhile US sec state) to augment these salaries. They justify it by their beliefs in their own moral and intellectual superiority. Part of being superior is perceiving things the dumb masses cannot.
Like the dumb masses think there is no AGW, sex is fixed by genetics, and Muslims are dangerous - proving their inherent inferiority.
I might add that most of these people are second raters who stole the top jobs from their betters - so belief in own intellectual superiority is very important.

#3  Their enmity transcends Trump or Pence. It's the hatred of conservatism and the impact it may one day have on 'Choice' and the sale of baby parts. Much of this warfare in the public square comes down to Roe vs War. Just my opinion.

#4  Both of you guys make interesting and salient points.

Yes, there are philosophical underpinnings to this. Yes, the left gives permission to below average pseudointellectuals to go about their lives believing they are genius polymaths if only they parrot the NPR, Frankfurt School party line. Yes, women - four generations and a century into their experiment with the franchise in America - have used their votes almost exclusively to create a society where there is no possibility of negative consequences to an unplanned pregnancy, to the exclusion of caring about any other policy issues.

But for Homo economicus, his/her primary motivation is income stream and the comfort and status it can purchase. In a post religious society, it is ALL that matters to them. If you removed abortion from the table, if you removed metric-free welfare, if you told them they weren't really all that smart or didn't have any secret knowledge, they'd grumble but move on. Question the magic paychecks in the slightest and they go berserk. We need a way out of the fiscal mess we're in and that is an obstacle we MUST get past.

Report Details How Long-Running Russian Feud Spilled Over to Campaign Politics
New details in a report by the Wall Street Journal highlight how a meeting between a Russian lawyer and Donald Trump Jr. had more to do with a years-long feud between Russia and U.S.-born hedge fund manager William Browder than it did anything else.

The report, published Saturday, details the long-running feud and how the White House got sucked into it. It said:

The multiyear saga between Russia and Mr. Browder has featured accusations of murder and fraud, extensive lobbying efforts on both sides, high-level court proceedings and public statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin suggesting Mr. Browder is a criminal. And now, the drama has extended to the Trump White House, which is already facing probes into the campaign's relationship with Russia.

According to the report, Natalia Veselnitskaya, a private lawyer and former Russian prosecutor who was defending a client charged with violating the Magnitsky Act, told the paper that she sought a meeting last year with the Trump campaign to spread information about Browder, a champion of the Act.

The column was about the role cultural norms play in perpetuating inequality. His point was that the educated classes, perhaps unintentionally, have set up invisible but real barriers to keeping out the working class and the poor, through cultural codes.

...Let me say point-blank: if you think the sandwich shop anecdote is about sandwich shops or David Brooks’s manners, you are completely missing the point.

#4  I'm pretty well edcuated and I like to think I know words and stuff. (Poor English grammar and spelling done on purpose)

Even then I still had to look up them fancy words only to discover what they really mean.

To reiterate: (See what I did here, I used a fancy word and I even knew what it mean!) Recently I took a friend with only a high school degree to lunch. Insensitively, I led her into a gourmet sandwich shop. Suddenly I saw her face freeze up as she was confronted with sandwiches named “Padrino” and “Pomodoro” and ingredients like soppressata, capicollo and a striata baguette. I quickly asked her if she wanted to go somewhere else and she anxiously nodded yes and we ate Mexican.

I discovered them here fancy words meanings and blow me over, they are dumb!

Padrino - fancy word meaning "godfather" as in "a deal you cannot refuse" godfather. What this has to do with food, I have no idea!

Pomodoro - Fancy time management using a timer, again nothing to do with food, just another made-up BS word. Maybe referring to something like the timer used in fast food restaurants to time the french fries?

Soppressata - An appetizing salami made with Pig's head, tongue, belly and stomach. Yum, Yum!

Capicollo - A dry salami made from a neck muscle. Not brinned. (An unsalted salami, what a novel concept!)

Striata baguette - Basically a "sourdough texture-like french bread" The Striata (stretch) part comes from the baked bread dough tendency to stretch when torn apart. Striatum is also a striped mass of white and grey matter in the brain which controls movement and balance, maybe it's really "cervelle" or "mente"? (A meat dish made from animal brains)

(Subway Sub sandwiches has all that, minus the brain stuff, plus it's cheaper and has more stuff in it.)

Here's an interesting article that touches on this subject, with an interesting list of words and their meanings at the end.

Finally here's a Fancy Meat Primer for Those Who Didn't Study Charcuterie in High School

Hope this was helpful for y'all! :)

#6  This is not simply a matter of the well-off building cultural barriers that keep others out. These barriers exist in every human society, no matter what the income level, and cannot be fully eradicated. I think what Brooks is getting at is a need to be aware of these things, and to work to lower them...But you have to want to learn. This is hard for a lot of people to do, because they feel that their own identity is at risk.

I highly doubt Mr. Dreher, or any subscriber of American Conservative has had the joy of an 'educated' offspring or sibling lecture them at the Thanksgiving table. Then again, they might be proud that the smug little bastid has jumped the "cultural barrier".

'Pajama Boy', anyone?

#7  Sometimes a sandwich is just a sandwich.

Brooks and Dreher are overly obsessed with status and class distinctions. There is nothing wrong with wanting success for your children. Wanting the best for your kids doesn't mean there is some kind of cabal of wealthy people who have created an educational system to freeze out others such as poor minorities. That is B.S. I'd say that just the opposite is true.

#8  All these people suck.
The phrase Brooks used "...with only a high school degree" only made it more clear how much I dislike him.
And Dreher can go suck it too. He is the same as Brooks.
I can barely type this they are so annoying. I must have fixed 15 typos.

Nancy Pelosi freezes, repeatedly flubs lines during attack on Trump
[American Mirror] She criticized the "actions of the Trump administration as relation-- related to the rule of the law."

"The Trump administration and the Trump family have pa-- eagerly ex-- uh, intended to collude with a hostile foreign policy," she said, likely intending to say "power" instead of "policy."

"Members of Congress take a sa-- sacred oath," Pelosi struggled to say moments later.

"What do the Russians have politically, financially, uh, uh, or-- and any-- personally on Donald Trump that he fawns over Putin, uh, questions sanctions, uh--" she said, then froze.

"Uh-- is-- reckless when it comes to Article V," Pelosi finally said.

Her statement condemning Jared Kushner lost its effect as she repeatedly herself.

"It’s absolutely ridiculous that he should have, have that, that clearance," she said.

"Today we are announcing a new coo-nated effort to force votes to get answers for the American people she said, struggling to say "coordinated."

"We will force Republicans to take votes on the record to continue, uh, from, from hiding the facts from the American people," Pelosi said, effectively stating Republicans are being transparent.

As the House Minority Leader introduced several of her colleagues who took swings at the Trump pinata, she fumbled, "House Republicans will have to ask for their actions and one of the questions they will have-- some of the questions they will have to answer will be posed by our colleagues..."

She went on to introduce her sidekick Maxine Waters, who called the Trump family a "criminal enterprise."

Pastors sue: Sugar in Coca-Cola causes higher BMI and obesity among entitlement class
[CBS] Two pastors from Washington, D.C., have filed a lawsuit against Coca-Cola and the American Beverage Association saying the organizations have purposely deceived the public about sugar-sweetened beverages and their impact on health.

"The background of this lawsuit is that there's an epidemic of diabetes, cardiovascular disease and a range of other degenerative diseases in the black and Latino communities, and really throughout America. For me, as a pastor, I see the toll it takes on families and children when they lose their parents much too soon," Delman Coates, the pastor at Mt. Ennon Baptist Church, in Clinton, Maryland, told CBS News.

The lawsuit was filed Thursday in D.C. Superior Court on behalf of Coates and William Lamar, the senior pastor at the Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church in Washington, DC.

"It is a matter of life and death in our communities," Lamar told CBS News.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2012 research showed daily regular soda and fruit drink consumption was most common among black and Hispanic Americans.

Other studies have linked drinking sugary beverages to diabetes, heart disease, and higher death rates.

#1  No problem, at least in Chicago. There is the now the sweetened beverage tax, which should reduce consumption.

Dan Bongino: ‘This is political INSANITY and mainstream America is tuning OUT'
[Right Scoop] Dan Bongino told the gang at Fox News that real Americans were completely tuning out the controversy over Trump Jr’s meeting with the Russians.

I’m not sure that’s the case exactly, but I do think most of his base doesn’t care. However, criminal charges aren’t a matter of Democracy.

Someone pointed out that the week before Nixon left office, people were saying that his base is still with him. What does that mean in the case of Trump? 35% of the American people?

Still, it’s all a lot of smoke and just a tiny bit of fire so far. BUT, the investigations roll on and on....

Police said several groups of 40-50 people started fights, but the majority of participants were Germans.

#4  Here is Deutsche Welle's English-language take on events:

Rioting breaks out at festival in southern German town

Police in the southern German town of Schorndorf have increased their presence after violence at a public festival. At least two cases of sexual harassment were reported.

Authorities in the town of Schorndorf in the German state of Baden-Württemberg have called in more police to supervise a festival following riots and at least two cases of women being sexually harrassed over the weekend.

Guests and police were attacked with bottles thrown from a crowd of some 1,000 young people during the night to Sunday, police said. They said groups of 30 to 60 rioters then left the castle park where the festival was taking place and continued to make trouble in the center of the town.

A police spokesman said on Monday that the violence against officers was "horrifying," adding that the aggression had taken on a new quality. He said the excessive consumption of alcohol had played a large role in the violence.

Police said a number of the young people present were of a migrant background.

Sexual attacks
Two young women, one aged 25 and the other 17, were also sexually harrassed at the festival, according to police. A 20-year-old Iraqi man was being questioned in connection with the first case, while three Afghan asylum seekers aged from 18 to 20 were detained over the second.

The mayor of Schorndorf, Matthias Klopfer, expressed his sympathy with the victims of the harrassment, saying such attacks were "not trivial offenses."

Police have called on anyone else who was the victim of similar attacks to come forward.

The issue of sexual harrassment has become increasingly sensitive in Germany in the wake of mass attacks on women in the western city of Cologne and other cities on New Year's Eve 2015/2016.

The festival in Schorndorf, which began on Friday, is due to end on Tuesday.

This particularly resonates with the op-ed posted yesterday, where the lady wrote that Afghans would try to blame their misbehaviour on alcohol consumption, rather than both drinking and molesting being due to feeling entitled to take what they willed from those they'd conquered.

Conservatives launch war on Southern Poverty Law Center, promotes 'terrorism'
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] A coalition of conservative groups whose advocacy has been labeled "hate" by the leftist media-darling Southern Poverty Law Center are launching a counteroffensive Monday, accusing it of fueling hate, killing free speech and even encouraging terrorist-style attacks on those it doesn't agree with.

The effort, which includes a video and planned Monday tweetstorm, takes aim at SPLC's so-called "hate map" which identifies groups it says promotes hate and extremism. It includes groups like the Ku Klux Klan, but also conservative nonprofits that promote traditional marriage, enforcement of immigration laws, and other policies it doesn't agree with.

The campaign, revealed to Secrets, is being led by the Washington-based Family Research Council, the social conservative policy giant whose entrance guard was shot in 2012 by a man inspired by SPLC's hate map that listed FRC as an anti-gay "hate" group.

"Despite SPLC's baggage -- which also includes connections to two liberal gunnies ‐ they continue to be cited as a credible source by mainstream media and others. With SPLC in the spotlight, we must expose this organization for what it really is ‐ a left wing smear group who has become exactly what they set out to fight, spreading hate and putting targets on people's backs," said a note to supporters from FRC, which also noted the support for the SPLC of the gunman who shot up a GOP congressional baseball practice, seriously injuring House Majority Whip Steve Scalise.

Syrian Air Force rains airstrikes over eastern Syria
[AlMasdar] The Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) conducted a multitude of Arclight airstrikes over the Deir Ezzor and Homs governorates this morning, targeting the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
’s (ISIS) positions at several sites.

Flying out of the Shay’rat Airbase in Homs, the Syrian Air Force began the day by targeting the Islamic State’s positions in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, hitting Islamic State targets in al-Hawiqah, al-Kanamat, Panorama area, and Jabal Thardeh.

Following the Arclight airstrikes in Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Air Force targeted Islamic State positions near the gas rich city of Sukhnah, paving the way for another Syrian Army attack along the Homs-Ezzor Highway.

With the battle with Raqqa City taking a turn for the worse, the Islamic State continues to move fighters into Deir Ezzor, as this province has become their new capital inside Syria.

Full map of battle for southern Syria
Map can be seen at the link. It's pretty, but I don't know what it means.
[AlMasdar] The battle for southern Syria recently heated up following the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) large-scale assault on the eastern countrysides of al-Sweida and Damascus.

Led by the 5th Corps of the Syrian Arab Army and Liwaa Fatemiyoun (Afghani-Iranian paramilitary), the pro-government forces have captured hundreds of square kilometers of territory that was once controlled by the Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA) and their allies.

While the battle for the southeastern territories continue, the fight for the quiet provincial capital of Dara’a has stalled, as all parties involved agreed to a ceasefire that was mediated by Russia, Jordan, Iran, and the United States (U.S.).

With the Dara’a front remaining stagnate, the Syrian Arab Army has move its elite 42nd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division to Damascus, where they will either resume the offensives at Beit Jinn or Jobar.

Syrian Army reopens former ISIL strongholds to the public
[AlMasdar] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) announced on Sunday that the Deir Hafer and Maskanah plains have been reopened to the public after successfully clearing the areas of explosives.

The Deir Hafer Plain was liberated by the Syrian Arab Army’s Tiger Forces earlier this year, following the massive campaign to reach the Euphrates River and expel the Islamic State (ISIL) from the Khafsa Water Pumping Station.

Once the Deir Hafer Plain was liberated, the Syrian Arab Army set their sights on the Maskanah Plain, which links the Aleppo and Al-Raqqa governorates together.

Within two weeks, the Tiger Forces had liberated the Maskanah Plain and reached the Salamiyah-Raqqa Highway, clearing a massive Islamic State pocket in the area.

Since the Islamic State’s expulsion from these areas, the Syrian Arab Army has worked tirelessly with their Russian allies to clear Deir Hafer and Maskanah of mines and IEDs in order to allow residents to once again return.

The Syrian Government is now encouraging residents to return to their homes in both Maskanah and Deir Hafer, as these areas have been officially declared safe by the army.

Jihadists make peace in Idlib, turn their attention to ISIS and Syrian Army
Blast hits rebel-held Idlib, scores injured

[AlMasdar] A huge kaboom rocked the center of the jihadist heartland of Idlib as the city was on high security alert for search for ISIS sleeper cells.

Local activists reported that an IED planted into a car went off near the city’s main hospital.

and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham have made a truce in the Idlib Governorate following a turbulent two weeks that involved heavy clashes between these large jihadist factions.

Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s Shari’ah Spokesmen, ‘Abdullah Al-Muhaysni, announced via his social media page that he welcomes the truce between the two factions after weeks of fighting.

The radical Saudi cleric then promised a new offensive against the government forces that would involve both jihadist factions; however, he did not specify where this said offensive was going to be.

Both Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham have a rather large front with the Syrian Arab Army and Hezbollah in southern Aleppo, so it is expected that this area will be the target for their offensive operations.

Huge convoy of foreign jihadists enter Jisr Shughour

[AlMasdar] A large convoy of foreign jihadists entered the city of Jisr Shughour in the Idlib Governorate, Saturday, local opposition media reported.

The foreign jihadists were members of the Turkestan Islamic Party (TIP), which is one of the largest factions loyal to the Al-Qaeda linked Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham group.

Jisr Shughour was already under the control of the Turkestan Workers Party, despite some Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham checkpoints in and around the city.

However, some opposition activists have reported that Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham retreated from those checkpoints after the large convoy entered Jisr Shughour.

The reason for the reinforcements is still unknown; however, some activists stated via social media that TIP is taking precautions after the recent infighting between HTS and Ahrar Al-Sham.

Ahrar Al-Sham breaches ceasefire to attack Syrian Army troops in Latakia

launched an attack against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the northeastern countryside of Latakia, Sunday, violating terms of the ceasefire that was mediated between Russia, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

, and Iran.

According to a military source in Latakia, Harakat Ahrar al-Sham fired a barrage of Katuysha missiles and artillery shells at the Syrian Army’s positions in the Kurdish Mountains (Jabal al-Akrad).

The source added that the primary target for the jihadist rebels was the Shalf castle, which sits atop of the Kurdish Mountains.

This abrupt attack resulted in the wounding of at least a half dozen men, prompting the Syrian Arab Army to reinforce the area, despite not responding directly.

Harakat Ahrar al-Sham’s attack in northeastern Latakia comes just hours after Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham’s Shari’ah front man, ’Abdullah al-Muhaysni, stated that the two jihadist factions will be launching an offensive against the Syrian Army in the near future.

Another Case Of Arkancide?
People that go against the Clintons sure have been dropping like flies recently...
[ZeroHedge] The mainstream media’s silence over Klaus Eberwein’s death is deafening.
You must be new to American media, pal...
Eberwein was a former Haitian government official who was expected to expose the extent of Clinton Foundation corruption and malpractice next week.
That is rather convenient timing.
The circumstances surrounding Eberwein’s death are also nothing less than unpalatable. According to Miami-Dade’s medical examiner records supervisor, the official cause of death is “gunshot to the head.“ Eberwein’s death has been registered as “suicide” by the government. But not long before his death, he acknowledged that his life was in danger because he was outspoken on the criminal activities of the Clinton Foundation.

Eberwein was a fierce critic of the Clinton Foundation’s
activities in the Caribbean island, where he served as director general of the government’s economic development agency, Fonds d’assistance économique et social, for three years. “The Clinton Foundation, they are criminals, they are thieves, they are liars, they are a disgrace,” Eberwein said at a protest outside the Clinton Foundation headquarters in Manhattan last year. Eberwein was due to appear on Tuesday before the Haitian Senate Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission where he was widely expected to testify that the Clinton Foundation misappropriated Haiti earthquake donations from international donors. But this “suicide” gets even more disturbing…

Salahuddin: 6 ISIS dead, ISIS families to be expelled
Six IS members killed in attempt to attack security troops, south of Mosul

Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) Six Islamic State militants were killed after attacking security troops at the outskirts of a village, in northwest of Shirqat town, DPA reported.

Using weapons, IS attackers attempted lifting the beseige imposed by security troops on al-Imam Gharbi village, a source of Salahuddin Operations Command told DPA on Sunday.

Iraqi authorities deport IS fighters families from Shirqat

Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) The local administration of Shirqat, Salahuddin Governorate, has decided to deport the families of Islamic State (IS) fighters from the town, Anadolu Agency reported on Sunday citing an Iraqi military source.

“The local council of Shirqat has issued a decision to deport the families of the IS fighters from the town and called for an immediate implementation of the decision,” Army Major Yasser al-Tamimi told Anadolu Agency.

Al-Tamimi noted that there is great dissatisfaction inside the council of Shirqat with the presence of the families of Islamic State (IS) fighters inside the town. The deportation decision aims at maintaining the security.

Earlier in June, Mosul city council decided to deport the families of IS fighters and to relocate them to special camps in order to rehabilitate them mentally. It added that it would no longer allow receiving migrant IS fighters families arriving from other provinces and the existing families are to be deported and sheltered in camps where they will be psychologically and ideologically rehabilitated and integrated with society once they prove responsive to that process.

The IS terror group has a grip on key areas that link Diyala, Salahuddin and Kirkuk governorates.

The eastern coast of Shirqat, which lies on the west bank of the Tigris river in Salahuddin province, is still under the IS control, after liberating the western coast few months ago.

In September, Iraqi army said its forces recaptured the town, located south of Mosul, after being surrounded for months by Iraqi troops and the pro-government Shi’ite militias.

The shelling, which occured early on Sunday, left some members injured, the source added. Most of the members killed were from al-Tash and Ankour, west of Ramadi.

In related news, twelve militants were killed on Sunday as army jets targeted an IS convoy in westof Ramadi.

A source from Anbar Operations Command told Al-Ikhbariya news website that an airstrike by army targeted IS convoy as the militants were attempting an attack against troops deployed in al-Malha region, north of Haditha town, which left more than twelve militants killed.

Haditha city is fully controlled by security forces and tribal fighters, however, IS launches attacks there every now and then. The regions in the north of the lake are desert ones with a number of houses that are used by IS militants as hideouts.

will land in Adiala jail as an outcome of the Panamagate hearing in the Supreme Court (SC).

Addressing a workers convention in Islamabad on Sunday, the PTI leader warned PM Sharif of the possibility of landing behind bars. He accused the PML-N of planning to attack the SC if the outcome of Panamagate case was against the Sharifs. He warned PM Sharif against any such attempt and said that the entire nation would stand with the apex court.

PML-N has destroyed the parliament as well as all other institutions, said Khan, adding, "All except the apex court and the army".

Army launches Operation Khyber-4 in Rajgal Valley
[DAWN] Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor on Sunday announced the launch of Operation Khyber-4 under Radd-ul-Fasaad (RuF) to "wipe out terrorists" in the Rajgal Valley area of Khyber Agency
... the place to go if you've got an Indiana Jones hat and whip. Chock full of high adventure and treacherous Pathans. You should really train up to it, though...
"An operation to wipe out Death Eaters has been launched in Rajgal valley in Khyber Agency," Maj Gen Ghafoor said.

Khyber 4 seeks to target terrorist hideouts in what the DG ISPR called "the most critical area in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata)".

There is no timeline for the operation as yet, Ghafoor said in response to a question.

The army had informed Afghan forces ahead of the launch of the Khyber-4 operation in Rajgal, he said, which the Afghan army would be able to support on their side of the border if they wished.

"No other force will have boots on the ground in our country. All operations are conducted by Pak security forces," he asserted.

The army's front man observed that reports of a joint border operation with Afghan forces had surfaced during a visit made by a top-level United States Congressional delegation.

Clarifying the reports, Ghafoor said, "The true meaning of this [joint operation] is when both forces conduct operations at the same time. There is a coordinated and complementary operation on their respective sides of the border."

Information would be shared with Kabul if the Afghan leadership wished to conduct supporting operations and coordination in this regard is ongoing, he elaborated.

Afghan forces once again foil militants bid to smuggle 13 children to Pakistan
[Khaama] The Afghan national defense and security forces have once again thwarted a bid by the anti-government armed Death Eaters to smuggle thirteen children to Pakistain.

According to the local security officials in Ghazni, the children were rescued in Qarabagh district as the Death Eaters were looking to smuggle them to Pakistain via Paktia province.

Acting provincial police chief Mustafa Mayar said the Death Eaters were apparently looking to smuggle the children so that they can be enrolled into the Madrasas for militancy trainings.

He said at least three people who were looking to smuggle the children were also locked away
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
by the security forces.

This comes as at least twenty five children were rescued during a similar operation in Ghazni province as the Death Eaters were looking to smuggle them to Pakistain.

The latest attempts by the Lion of Islam groups to recruit children for the militancy comes as the Human Rights Watch (HRW) says Taliban

about nine months ago, Omar Zwak said.

"Security forces have re-taken [a stretch of] 10 kilometers of Nawa and only two kilometers to the district governor’s compound is left. The forces are advancing in the battle against the bully boyz and so far 18 bully boyz including their commanders have been killed," Zwak said.

"One security force member was also killed in the clash with the Taliban and six others were maimed," he said adding that "there are no civilian casualties. Our priorities are to prevent civilian casualties."

Zwak also said that foreign troops are supporting the Afghan cops by carrying out Arclight airstrikes on the affected area.

"Our operation is moving a little slowly because of mines that have been placed by the bully boyz along the roads. So far we have defused 150 mines but by the end of the day we will take control of the district," he said.

TOLOnews news hound, Abdullah Hamim who is with the security forces says "the mines are a key issue for the security forces and [in addition to mines] they have recovered bombs and weapons during the operation."

Yemen Troops Killed in Suspected Qaida Attack
[AnNahar] Five Yemeni soldiers were killed and three maimed Sunday when gunnies suspected of ties to al-Qaeda opened fire on a military checkpoint, an army source said.

Shin Bet: Gunman shot up settlements over tiff with family
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian suspect killed in firefight with Israeli forces went on shooting spree with fiancée, attacking two West Bank communities.
Romeo and Juliet, Palestinian style.
A Paleostinian gunman who was killed in a firefight with Israeli forces on Sunday had gone on a shooting spree with his fiancée following an argument with their families over their engagement, according to the Shin Bet security service.

The suspect -- identified by police as Amar Ahmad Halil of Nabi Saleh -- was behind two drive-by shooting attacks on Saturday near the West Bank settlement of Ateret, which left a Paleostinian driver lightly hurt, and one at an IDF post near Halil’s hometown of Nabi Saleh, according to Israeli security forces.

There were no injuries in the second attack, the army said. Soldiers uncovered two bullet casings in the area.

Hours after the attack, Israeli security forces -- made up of troops from the army, Shin Bet and Border Police -- entered Nabi Saleh to arrest Halil.

"The forces encountered the suspect, who attempted to open fire at them. In response to the immediate threat forces fired towards the attacker resulting in his death," it said.

Another Paleostinian detainee was lightly injured in the firefight and was treated at the scene, the army said.

According to the Shin Bet, Halil, 34, was a former member of the Paleostinian Authority’s security services.

His fiancee, Rawan Amber, accompanied Halil during the attacks, according to the Shin Bet.

On Sunday, she handed herself in to the PA police and was placed under arrest.

According to the Shin Bet, the two carried out the attacks because their families opposed their engagement.

The gun used was an improvised Carlo-style submachine gun that was made to look like an M-16 assault rifle.

The group shut down the last of a chain of restaurants it had run in the town of Hawija, southwest of Kirkuk, a local source was quoted saying by Waradana website. He said the closure came as food supply scarcity deepens, and with the bandidos Death Eaters hampered by debts.

"ISIS (Islamic State) had relied in a chain of local restaurants that occasionally served banquets for the group’s emirs and big shots, but rapidly shrunk due to the bad boys’ inability to pay their debts and the scarcity of foodstudd supplies," said the source.

4 Pakistan Army soldiers drown in Neelum River after India targets military vehicle
[DAWN] Indian troops targeted a vehicle of the Pakistain Army moving along the Neelum River at Athmuqam on Sunday. "The vehicle fell into the river and four soldiers embraced martyrdom in the Line of Control (LoC) ceasefire violation," said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The body of one martyred soldier has been recovered while search for the other three is underway.

Kenyan killed by Shabaab after fallout with commanders
[SHABELLENEWS] A Kenyan al-Shabaab
...Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
Death Eater was killed in Somalia after he fell out with commanders of the terrorist organization.

Mustafa Hassan Mohammed, a former student at Isiolo Boys High School, was killed last week after he complained that Moslems and children died in kabooms that have rocked Mandera, Garissa and Mandera counties in recent weeks.

Dozens of security officers have also died in the attacks. Mustafa dropped out of school in 2015 to join al-Shabaab.

Previously al-Shabaab has killed other Kenyans within its ranks, accusing them of spying for Kenya Government.

on return from Somalia and who have been interrogated have provided crucial details to security agents.

Other Kenyan Death Eaters have also been killed by Kenya Defence Forces in Somalia.

Noordin Gulam Fazilai aka Dinero, 23 was killed this month after an al-Shabaab group attempted to attack KDF camp in Kismayu.

He was born in Mombasa and lived in Majengo-Sokoni before moving to Somalia. "Before his death, Noordin had been reaching out to potential recruits from Majengo area, notably those associated with Musa mosque and coordinating their movement to Somalia," police said in a report seen by the Nation.

Other Kenyans are Ibrahim Adan Abdi, Mohammed Issa and Adan Ismail Khalid. The youngsters from Mandera crossed over to Somalia between March and May 2015 to join the terror group.

They were killed in a United States Arclight airstrike on June 11, 2017 in Sakow, Southern Somalia.
"It has also been established that Al-Shabaab is now using its imported muscle especially from Kenya to carry out suicide kabooms. Further, many imported muscle were removed from leadership positions," the report also says.

Telegram blocks terror content after Indonesia threatens ban
The company's response to this story from yesterday
[DAWN] The encrypted messaging app Telegram is forming a team of moderators who are familiar with Indonesian culture and language so it can remove "terrorist-related content" faster, its co-founder said Sunday, after Indonesia limited access to the app and threatened a total ban.

Pavel Durov, who with his brother Nikolai founded the app in 2013, said in a message to his 40,000 followers on Telegram that he'd been unaware of a failure to quickly respond to an Indonesian government request to block a number of offending channels chat groups on the app but was now rectifying the situation.

The Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology said Friday that it was preparing for the total closure of Telegram in Indonesia, where it has several million users if it didn't develop procedures to block unlawful content.

As a partial measure, it asked internet companies in the world's most populous Moslem nation to block access to 11 addresses offering the web version of Telegram.

Samuel Pangerapan, the director general of informatics applications at the ministry, said the app is used to recruit Indonesians into bully boy groups and to spread hate and methods for carrying out attacks including bomb making.

JIT report recommends reopening 15 cases against PM
[DAWN] The joint investigation team (JIT) looking into the Panama Papers case has recommended reopening five cases decided by the Lahore High Court (LHC), eight investigations and two inquiries against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
Of these 15 cases, three were registered during the 1994 and 2011 tenures of the PPP and 12 were prepared during the Musharraf regime, soon after Gen Musharraf toppled the Sharif government in the October 1999 military coup.

The case regarding the Sharif family’s four London apartments was also among the eight investigations started by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in December 1999.

In its April 20 verdict, the Supreme Court asked a JIT to investigate the money trail for the London flats. The court’s other 12 questions were related to the sale and purchase of the Gulf Steel Mill, the Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
i letter, offshore companies and other matters.

The court had allowed the team, which consisted of two officials from military-led intelligence agencies and an official each from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), NAB, the State Bank and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistain, to consider the records already available with NAB and the FIA that may help the Sherlocks.

In addition to the 18-year-old investigation into the London properties, the JIT also recommended reviving cases such as three NAB references and two FIA cases that were quashed by the LHC. The JIT even found anomalies in the cases quashed by the high court.

While discussing the quashing of an FIR registered against Mr Shairf in 1994 regarding "wrongful gain by Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif through obtaining loan for Hudabiya Engineering Pvt. Ltd by opening fake and fictitious accounts", the JIT report states: "Lahore High Court only discussed the jurisdiction of the FIA regarding conducting investigation...question regarding existence of the individuals in [whose] name fake accounts were opened was not adequately addressed."

[AlMasdar] Smashing through the Islamic State’s defenses in southwestern Raqqa, seasoned assault troops of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) overran an additional three ISIS-held gas fields late on Sunday afternoon.

Following the capture of the al-Fahd oil field earlier in the day, the SAA’s Tiger Forces secured the Zamleh Sharqiyah, Bir Zamleh and al-Khalaa gas fields in the desert between Raqqa and Palmyra, east of the town of Khirbet Halul.

Following the latest blitz assault, over 20 ISIS corpses were retrieved by the SAA and a large number of vehicles destroyed, including 2 tanks, 1 boom-mobile and 4 technicals.

Trump's Hungarian-American Attack Bulldog: Sebastian Lukacs Gorka
[Breitbart] "They cannot believe that the American people chose Donald J. Trump to be president," Gorka said. "As a result, they’re in this bubble. They’re in this psychological crisis. They’re tanking, so they spin, they spin. They want to make more money on ratings, so their corporate owners are happy. The only way to be successful in the short term and the long term is to do what you do Sean: It’s about truth. You say that you’re a conservative, but you’re interested in the truth whether it’s about Benghazi, the IRS scandal, Fast and Furious. They don’t care about the truth. Think about their professionalism or their lack of it. Could you imagine a Walter Cronkite or an Edward R. Murrow having a guest on their show and then after the interview ends in the next panel they insult the guest when he can’t defend himself? That’s what Anderson Cooper did this week. That’s just unprofessional."

Ironically, Gorka himself has been‐as Hannity noted‐the target of blatantly inaccurate fake news. Many in the media demonstrably inaccurately reported previously that Gorka was in trouble in the White House and potentially going to lose his position. Nothing could be further from the truth, as Breitbart News has reported.

From Wikipedia.org:

Gorka worked in the Hungarian Ministry of Defense during the prime ministership of József Antall.

Following the September 11 attacks, Gorka became a public figure in Hungary as a television counterterrorism expert. This led to his being asked in 2002 to serve as an official expert on the parliamentary investigatory committee created to uncover the Communist background of the new Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Medgyessy. Medgyessy had been an undercover officer in the Secret Police, the organization which had maintained the previous dictatorship and helped crush the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. Gorka rejected Medgyessy's claims of having not spied on people when he was a secret policeman. Gorka failed to obtain the necessary security clearance from the Constitution Protection Office to serve on the committee, apparently because he was widely regarded as a spy working for British counterintelligence. Gorka defended himself against the charge by saying his service in the British army was merely as a uniformed member of its counterterrorist unit, tasked with assessing threats from groups such as the IRA.

In 2004, Gorka became an adjunct to the faculty of the new US initiative for the Program for Terrorism and Security Studies (PTSS), a Defense Department-funded program based in the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. At the same time Gorka became an adjunct to USSOCOM's Joint Special Operations University, MacDill Air Force Base. He and his family relocated to the United States in 2008. He was hired as administrative dean at the National Defense University, Fort McNair, Washington D.C. Two years later, he began to lecture part-time for the ASD(SOLIC)-funded Masters Program in Irregular Warfare and Counterterrorism as part of the Combating Terrorism Fellowship Program but remained in a largely administrative role. In 2014 Gorka assumed the privately endowed Major General Horner Distinguished Chair of Military Theory at the Marine Corps University Foundation. In August 2016, he joined The Institute of World Politics, a private institution, on a full-time basis as Professor of Strategy and Irregular Warfare and Vice President for National Security Support. He is on the advisory board of the Council for Emerging National Security Affairs (CENSA).

Between 2009 and 2011 Gorka wrote for the Hudson Institute of New York (now Gatestone Institute). Between 2011 and 2013, Gorka was an adjunct faculty member at Georgetown University's McCourt School of Public Policy. From 2014 to 2016, Gorka was an editor for national security affairs for the Breitbart News Network, where he worked for Stephen K. Bannon.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Post-ALA Race Fatigue
[APRILHATHCOCK.WORDPRESS] I just spent the last 5 days at the American Library Association annual conference in Chicago, and I am suffering serious race fatigue.
Originally posted by badanov. I'm working under the hood and blew it away accidentally. Sorry.
Race fatigue is a real physical, mental, and emotional condition that people of color experience after spending a considerable amount of time dealing with the micro- and macro-aggressions that inevitably occur when in the presence of white people. The more white people, the longer the time period, the more intense the race fatigue.

I usually come back from conferences pretty exhausted anyway. I’m an introvert, an over-achiever, and an over-joiner, so I’m always faced with having to be conscious about taking breaks, saying no, and engaging in other forms of self-care. But when you combine that with 5 days of being talked at, over, and through by folks in a profession that’s 88% white…well, let’s just say I hit my limit.

Its been 5 straight days of being tone-policed and condescended to and ‘splained to. Five days of listening to white men librarians complain about being a “minority” in this 88% white profession–where they consistently hold higher positions with higher pay–because they don’t understand the basics of systemic oppression. (They’re librarians. You’d think they’d know how to find and read a sociology reference, but whatever.) Five days of having “nice white ladies” tell you to be “civil” and “professional” when you talk about the importance of acknowledging oppression and our profession’s role in it.

Even with well-meaning white people, friends even, it’s been exhausting; the fatigue is still there. Five days of having white colleagues corner you to “hear more” about the microaggressions you’ve suffered and witnessed, not because they want to check in on your fatigue, but because they take a weird pleasure in hearing the horror stories and feeling superior to their “less woke” racial compatriots.

Five days of mounting anger and frustration that you struggle to keep below the surface because you can’t be the “angry and emotional person of color” yet again.

Don’t get me wrong, there were delightful moments of reprieve. I went to the Spectrum Scholarship 20th Anniversary celebration and met the amazing Dr. Carla Hayden–first black, first woman, first librarian–Librarian of Congress. (She’s so wonderful. We chatted about my name, which I share with the main character of her favorite children’s book.) I caught up with friends and colleagues of color and met new ones. These moments kept me going. And I did have some moments of rest with a few absolutely invaluable and genuine white allies.

But I’m tired.

Luckily, the rest of my summer will be spent going on vacation with family, steeping in time with the people who love and know me best. I’ll be getting some much needed R & R in this racial battle called life. And when I get back to it all, I’ll keep on fighting, bearing in mind the inspiring words Dr. Hayden imparted to us at the Spectrum celebration: “You gotta be in the room. You gotta be at the table. You gotta fight.”

#10  "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

Apparently, that statement is no longer operative.

One of the great things about America is we built a country that transcended tribes, blood and soil. Call it a meta-tribe if you want. But anyone could join by putting up their hand and saying, "I believe in the Constitution and will defend it from all enemies, foreign and bureaucratic".

But the Democrats and the Left (redundancy alert!) have spent the last few decades playing identity politics where your skin color, genitals, religion or sexual preferences matter more than being an American. Sadly, they have been quite successful which leads to the social chaos and stupidity we see today. Nice work, guys!

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Over 120,000 Palestinian Children Attend Summer Camps Run By Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Other Terror Groups
[Breitbart] In recent days, Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,, Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
and other Paleostinian jihadist factions opened their traditional summer camps in which Paleostinian youth are indoctrinated with anti-Israel propaganda while some camps conduct weapons training and teach jihadist combat tactics.

According to figures from Hamas alone, some 120,000 children attend the terrorist group’s camps. Tens of thousands more children attend camps run by other Paleostinian jihadist factions.

In addition, thousands of children participate in summer camps run by the Paleostinian refugee welfare agency UNWRA, where the focus is more on educational activities than those of a religious or military nature. UNRWA’s summer camps bear the name "Summer Games," in contrast to the names of camps run by Hamas, Islamic Jihad, national resistance committees and other organizations that mostly use the names of Paleostinian activists who died as "deaders" ‐ in other words, bandidos snuffies killed while committing attacks against Israel.

The importance of the summer camps in the Hamas movement can be seen in the extensive coverage of them in Hamas media. Hamas operates a Supreme Committee for the Summer Camps and Osama Almuzeyni, a Hamas official responsible for the committee said, "The movement strives, through the summer camps, to train an entire generation to work for the liberation of Paleostine, in addition to educating the children on the principles of moderate Islam."

Reconquest of rebel-held eastern Damascus: offensive on East Ghouta as reinforcements arrive
Syrian rebels attack Russian embassy in Damascus

[ARA News] Syrian rebels on Sunday launched a mortar attack against the Russian embassy in the capital Damascus, causing material damage, local sources reported.

According to the state news agency SANA, at least two shells were fired at the Russian embassy, one hitting the compound while the other fell nearby.

Syrian rebels in the suburbs of Damascus have previously struck the Russian embassy.

The attack in Damascus came hours after a bomb went kaboom! near a hospital in the rebel-held north-western city of Idlib. At least six civilians were reportedly maimed in the kaboom, including two children.

Syrian Army launches offensive to capture large East Ghouta town

[AlMasdar] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a massive attack this afternoon in the East Ghouta region of Damascus that targeted Jaysh Al-Islam’s last positions in the town of Hawsh Al-Dawahra.

Backed by the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF), the 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard stormed Hawsh Al-Dawahra using six armored vehicles to break-through the Islamist defenses at the eastern axis of the town.

According to preliminary reports from the military, the Syrian Arab Army has advanced through Jaysh Al-Islam’s defenses at Hawsh Al-Dawahra’s eastern axis, inflicting heavy damage on the latter’s fortifications in the process.

A military source told Al-Masdar News that the Syrian Arab Army is attempting to reach Al-Shufouniyah, which is the second largest town in the East Ghouta region.

Russian jets launch heavy airstrikes over East Ghouta: opposition media

[AlMasdar] The Russian Air Force launched several heavy airstrikes over the East Ghouta region of Damascus, Sunday, pro-opposition Ghouta Now News reported.

According to Ghouta Now, the Russian airstrikes struck the East Ghouta towns of Zamalka, Hazah, and Al-Shifouniyah.

While Ghouta Now posted pictures of explosions in the aforementioned East Ghouta towns, they did not provide any proof to corroborate their claims that these airstrikes were conducted by the Russian Air Force.

The Russian Air Force does not usually carry out airstrikes over any part of Damascus, unless they have direct coordinates of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s positions.

Pro-government reinforcements pour into east Damascus

[AlMasdar] The Shadi Regiment of the National Defense Forces (NDF) announced on Saturday that they have sent reinforcements to the eastern suburbs of Damascus to aid the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in their ongoing offensives at Jobar and ‘Ayn Tarma.

The Shadi Regiment was previously in the Homs Governorate prior to their deployment to the Syrian capital of Damascus on Saturday.

With many buildings recently captured in the ‘Ayn Tarma Triangle, the Syrian Arab Army needs reinforcements to fortify their positions in the area.

In the coming days, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies are expected to intensify their attack on eastern Damascus, as the recent arrival reinforcements frees up many soldiers.

China unveils gene technology to create SUPERHUMANS with hyper-muscular test-tube dogs
[UKExpress] ARMIES of SUPER-SOLDIERS were a step closer to reality today after China announced it was genetically engineering hyper-muscular SUPER-DOGS.

The dogs, which are test tube bred in a lab, have twice the muscle mass of their natural counterparts and are considerably stronger and faster.

The canine genome has been especially difficult to engineer and replicate – but its close similarity to the human genome means it has long been the prize of geneticists.

Now the Chinese success has led to fears the same technology could be used to create weaponised super-humans - typifed in Marvel Comics by Captain America and his foes.
Much more at link, including picture of 'super dog'.

This is China, it's more like they're trying to get more meat on the dogs for food! Much like the Turkey we breed in USA for breast meat.

#7  The problem with creating stronger and bigger muscle mass is the underlying support system doesn't change. If they made you strong enough to pick up a car, the muscle would tear away from the bone and the tendons would shred. It is even possible to break bones while you do this.
Unless you improve the support structure (or put regular people into powered exoskeletons) making them super strong and muscular isn't gonna be good for your infantry.

A United States citizen accused of "infiltration" in Iran has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, a front man for the judiciary said on Sunday.

"The person was identified and placed in durance vile

by the intelligence forces. The court has sentenced the person to 10 years," deputy judiciary chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejeie said in a televised presser.

The individual, whose name was not provided, has appealed the sentence, he added.

The foreigner holds dual nationality of the United States and another country, he said, promising to give more details once the appeals court confirms the sentence.

In January, Tehran’s chief prosecutor said as many as 70 "spies" were serving sentences in the city’s prisons -- the identities of only a handful of which have been made public.

Most are thought to be Iranians who hold another passport from Europe or the United States.

In October, US-Iranian business consultant Siamak Namazi and his 80-year-old father Baquer, a former UNICEF official, were given 10 years in prison for "espionage and collaboration with the American government."

Syrian Army within striking distance of key ISIL-held town: video

[AlMasdar] Syrian Arab Army (SAA) troops have seized control over al-Hayl Field and its oil pumping station in the suburbs of Homs, Sunday, after regaining control over several locations between the cities of al-Sukhnah and Palmyra.

An SAA military commander said that Syrian troops were able to repel forces of Evil of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIS) from the southeastern direction of al-Sukhnah, paving the way for the troops to further advance towards this city in a bid to score further gains.

The Syrian Arab Army is now within 11km of al-Sukhnah, leaving just a small stretch of highway that is under the control of the Islamic State forces.

Once al-Sukhnah is liberated, the Syrian Arab Army will be at the provincial border of the Deir Ezzor Governorate and within striking distance of the first town in the western part of the province.

Mosul reconquest: mopping up and after action report

Iraqi command: 25.000 IS fighters killed throughout Mosul operations

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Security operations against the Islamic State militants in Mosul left 25.000 militants killed, according to the Iraqi command that led the war to retake Iraq’s second largest city.

Lt. Gen. Abdul-Amir Yarallah, head of the Nineveh Operations at the Joint Operations Command, said in a briefing on Saturday that more than 25.000 militants were killed over the nine months of battles, including more than 450 suicide bombers.

Iraqi forces destroyed 1247 booby-trapped cars and shot down 130 drones belonging to the group besides more than 1500 diverse vehicles, Yarallah said.

The JOC fought the battle with more than 100.000 government and paramilitary troops, Yarallah added. “The Iraqi army fought a battle that no army in the world had fought,” the commander said.

Only the regions of Mahalabiya, Ayyadia and Tal Afar still witness an Islamic State existence, and with their recapture, the province becomes fully liberated, according to the commander.

In a separate statement, Iyad al-Assali, an Iraqi police lieutenant, told Turkish agency Anadolu that security arrested 245 suspected IS militants in western Mosul’s Old City since Iraqi troops took over the medieval area.

Foreign IS female member arrested in Mosul’s Old City, Yazidi boy freed

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi troops have arrested a foreign woman with a sniping gun in her possession in Mosul’s Old City, an army officer said.

“While combing regions in the Old City, Iraqi troops arrested a woman, below 20 years old inside a house in al-Shahwaniya region in the Old City. She was possessing a sniping gun,” Cap. Haidar Ali al-Waeli told Anadolu Agency.

“We couldn’t identify her nationality, but she doesn’t seem to be Iraqi. She knows only few Arabic words. She was speaking a foreign language, maybe German or Czech,” he added.

Arrested, “the member was taken to security headquarters in Mosul for investigations,” Waeli said.

In related news, security troops were able to free a 10-year old Yazidi boy, who was held in al-Qulai’at region in the Old City.

According to Lt.Gen.Fathi al-Assali, of local police, the boy, from Sinjar, suffered injuries as part of the house, where he was held, collapsed. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

On Saturday, Iraqi troops found a Chechen girl with burns onher body under rubble of a house in the same region in the Old City.

Iraq arrests Islamic State’s fiercest female member, south of Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi security services have arrested one of the most dangerous female terrorists of the Islamic State’s terror group, Shafaq News reported on Sunday.

The detainee, Ahlam Mohsen Ali, is considered by the world’s intelligence services as the leader of the Islamic State’s female terrorists.

Ahlam grew up in al-Houd village in Qayyara district, south of Mosul, before becoming a fierce terrorist who pushed her son to join militant group. She also helped the group in the seizure of Mosul in mid-2014.

Ahlam, who paid allegiance to IS on June 10, 2014, was arrested with her brother, a prominent IS member, in an operation by the security forces on a bridge that links the eastern and western halves of Mosul, during the liberation of the city on July 10.

A security force revealed information about Ahlam’s work as an IS sleeper cell and a leader for the female terrorists since the fall of Saddam Hussein’s regime in 2003.

“I saw Ahlam once in my life in 2006 when we raided the house of her family after a terror attack executed by one of her brothers,” the source told Shafaaq News.

“During the investigation, Ahlam admitted that she provided IS with information about police officers and al-Houd village before the fall of Mosul,” he said.

Ahlam belongs to a poor family. Her father is a retired military officer and she has four brothers and sisters. “She escaped her husband because he used to work as a police officer before the IS occupation of Mosul, and he refused to pledge his allegiance to the group,” the source added.

Two wounded by IS war remnants explosion in Mosul’s Old City

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) An improvised explosive device (IED) from the Islamic State’s war remnants exploded on Sunday in the Old City of Mosul, leaving three injured, a security source told Shafaaq News.

“Three civilians were wounded after an IED from the Islamic State’s war remnants exploded, while leaving the Old City of Mosul,” the source said.

On another note, a medical source said that bodies of two women were pulled from the rubble in Mosul’s Old City, noting that the two women may have died during an air strike, which is believed to be carried out more than 10 days ago.

IS fighters’ children to be sent to orphanage or home country: government

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) The children of Islamic State fighters are facing deportation to home countries or retention in orphanages, the Iraqi government has said in a statement.

The Nineveh province council said children belonging to foreign IS fighters will be handled based on “Iraqi laws”.

Aljournal News quoted council member Hassan al-Allaq saying that, based on Interior Ministry laws, an Iraqi mother with children from a foreigner should provide courts with a parenthood evidence, after which the court should decide on citizenship rights for the kids.

“If the wife is a Daesh (IS) member, as is the case with her deceased husband, she will be referred to justice based on the anti-terrorism laws, while her children will be referred to an orphanage,” Allaq stated. “If the the father and the mother are both Daesh members, and also non-Iraqis, their home country will be approached to receive the children back. If that fails, they will be sent to an orphanage”.

Iraqi forces have been vetting hundreds of thousands of displaced civilians for suspected IS links, and have occasionally declared arresting several suspected members of the group hiding in the middle of refugees.

Nineveh’s local government declared plans last month to deport IS members’ families to camps for rehabilitation, and said it would no longer allow receiving migrant Islamic State fighters families arriving from other provinces.

Parliament committee: unregistered refugees in Nineveh exceed 1 million

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) More than one million displaced civilians are not registered by the migration authorities in Nineveh, an Iraqi parliament committee said Sunday.

“Since the beginning of Nineveh operations, there had been a large-scale migration movement that reached more than one million from Mosul, besides more than 954.000 from the rest of non-liberated Nineveh regions,” Zahed al-Khatouni, a member of the Iraqi parliament’s Migration and Displacement Ministry, said in a press statement quoted by AlGhad Press.

“We have approached the migration ministry to register more than one million migrants who are not registered despite staying at camps,” said Khatouni.

He, however, gave the ministry the excuse for that registration failure, saying that the daily volume of migration, which reached 17.000 people per day, had overwhelmed the ministry.

According to Khatouni, civilians repatriated in Mosul stood at 230.000, while the total of those displaced from the city reached 940.000.

Over 25 female ISIL terrorists captured in Mosul

[AlMasdar] The Iraqi Army captured over 25 female Islamic State (ISIL) terrorists inside Mosul while conducting a cleansing operation this weekend, the security forces announced Sunday.

Among the 25 female Islamic State members captured by the Iraqi Army this weekend were three terrorists from Turkey, five were German, three were Russian, two were Canadian, one was Chechen, and the remaining were Libyan and Syrian.

These ISIL members were apprehended during a cleansing mission carried out by the Iraqi Army inside a tunnel built by the terrorist group.

In addition to the ISIL members, the Iraqi Army also confiscated a large supply of weapons that were present in the tunnel during their cleansing operation.

Clan battle leaves 4 dead in Lower Shabelle region
[SHABELLENEWS] A Somali official says at least four people, including children died in a heavy inter-clan fighting broke out Sunday in Lower Shabelle region of southern Somalia.

The deadly skirmish erupted ay Bulo-Yarey, a small settlement located approximately 15Km north of Afgoye near Mogadishu following deadlock over the possession of farming fields in the area.

Several people were reported to have been maimed in the festivities between the warring clan militiamen, and rushed to a hospital in Afgoye to receive medical treatment, according to residents.

Meanwhile,

the district administration of Afgoye has released a statement, calling on the two sides to stop the fighting and seek a way out for their standoff that led to the hostility.

The escalating tribal conflict has caused a massive displacement by the locals who are in fear of the crossfire, according to a resident who spoke to Radio Shabelle over the phone.

Somali PM vows to pay salaries for SNA soldiers
[SHABELLENEWS] The Prime Minister of Somalia Hassan Ali Khaire has announced that his Federal government will pay regular payments for the country’s National Army (SNA).
That sounds like a big-hearted gesture, doesn't it...
While addressing integrated troops at a military base outside Kismayo
...a port city in the southern Lower Juba province of Somalia, at the extreme southern end of the country (assuming Somalia can be called a country). It is the commercial capital of the autonomous Jubaland region...
, PM Khaire said his administration will give first priority to pay the forces in fight against Al shabaab.

The Prime minister ordered his deputy and the defense minister to pay the salaries swiftly, to boost the morale of troops who are sacrificing their lives to the country.

Somali National army soldiers had not been paid for months in the past, as the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
forces get their payments monthly by the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
(EU).

The PM’s remarks came after his cabinet ministers held their weekly meeting in Kismayo, the capital of Jubbaland state, first time outside the capital since he took the oath of the office last March.

Fog: IS Supreme Leader al-Baghdadi “Still Alive”: Iraqi Interior Ministry

(IS) supreme leader, the Iraqi interior ministry has claimed that Abu Bakir al-Baghdadi to be still alive.

"According to monitoring cells and accurate information about his movement, and since we are more concerned with chasing and detecting the activity of ISIS (IS) leader and his followers, the Soqour Cell denies the news about his death, and recently circulated information are untrue," said Abu Ali al-Basri, head of the ministry’s intelligence and counterterrorism, as reported by Iraqi News.

The official told the state-owned daily al-Sabah that Baghdadi is believed to be hiding in areas out of Raqqa, the group’s proclaimed capital city in Syria.

Earlier in June, Russia said the IS leader is likely to have been killed during an Arclight airstrike carried out by Russian jets.

Iranian president’s brother arrested on financial crime charges
I'm sure this is meaningful, even if it escapes me exactly how...
[IsraelTimes] Hossein Fereydoun, who is also a close adviser of Hassan Rouhani, is being held in jail after failing to post bail

The younger brother of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Hossein Fereydoun, has been incarcerated
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
on financial crime charges, the judiciary said on Sunday.

"Multiple investigations have been conducted regarding this person, also other people have been investigated, some of whom are in jail," deputy judiciary chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejeie said in a televised presser.

"Yesterday, bail was issued for him but because he failed to secure it he was referred to prison," Ejeie said, adding that he would be released if he secures bail, pending trial.

Fereydoun has acted as a key adviser and gatekeeper to Rouhani.

News of his arrest comes a year after the head of the General Inspection Organisation, Naser Seraj, accused him of financial violations.

Conservatives have demanded Fereydoun be put on trial, accusing of him of receiving zero-interest loans and influencing the appointment of a bank director who Rouhani had to dismiss for taking a enormous salary.

Captured Tunisian ISIS Fighter Confesses Muslim Brotherhood Encouraged Jihad in Syria
Patrick Poole has the Homeland Security beat for PJ Media. While there is some overlap with what we have here, he also picks up stories like this, supporting his work with tweets and quotes from news articles.
[PJMedia] A 34-year-old Tunisian ISIS fighter captured by Kurdish forces in Raqaa recently spoke to news hound Jenan Moussa of al-Aan TV. When asked why he had joined the terrorist organization, the fighter confessed that Ennahda -- the Moslem Brüderbund affiliate in Tunisia -- had encouraged young fighters to join the jihad in Syria.

It's not a coincidence, then, that Tunisia had the largest number of imported muscle in Syria.

This deflates much of the U.S. think-tank and media establishment narrative that the Moslem Brüderbund serves as a "firewall" against jihadist groups:

US Withdraws from Obama's Australian Refugee Scheme
[IndependentSentinal] President Trump wasn’t happy when Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull informed him about the secret deal. Trump said Australia was sending the next "Boston bombers to America". Reluctantly, the President agreed to screen them.

Well, the scheme is in doubt again.

Refugee activists are furious because U.S. officials have stopped interviewing economic migrants on the Australian island of Nauru. We’ve reached the limit of 50,000 refugees under President Trump’s executive order.

The Australian’s are holding the economic migrants in an offshore detention center. They want to close it along with another offshore facility. In response to left-wing activists’ demands to close the centers, Australia wants to send them to us. In exchange, they will take Central American refugees who aren’t even in the U.S. but are planning to immigrate to the U.S. illegally
WTF, over?.
Reuters reports that: U.S. officials halted screening interviews and departed the Pacific island of Nauru on Friday, two weeks short of their scheduled timetable and a day after Washington said the United States had reached its annual refugee intake cap.

The USCIS said on Saturday that the program would continue but offered no details.

Australian officials say the deal will progress. The quota rolls over again in October and they "expect that the United States will adhere to this agreement, as the president promised..."

The Australians have another detention center on Papua New Guinea’s Manus island that they won’t be able to empty out if the U.S. doesn’t come back and take their rejected refugees.

"The U.S. deal looks more and more doubtful," Ian Rintoul from the Refugee Action Coalition said. "The U.S. deal was never the solution the Australian government pretended it to be."

The majority of the detainees interviewed on both Manus and Nauru by U.S. officials in April are from Sudan, Somalia and Afghanistan
WTF, over? - Part II.
Two of the three are on the list of nations under restricted travel orders.

Australia was so against allowing these economic migrants into the country, they offered them $25,000 each to go home. Few have done so.
