Dismissing concerns about Jammu and Kashmir becoming two union territories, former PDP leader Farooq Ahmed Dar said there is no harm if people benefit from it.

He cited the example of New Delhi, asserting that the national capital has continued to develop even though, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is frequently locked in confrontations with the Union government.

"If people can benefit from a UT status, what's the harm?" he asked, pointing out that the state has never developed beyond being a "consumer state" since 1947.

"We were a consumer state in 1947 and are a consumer state in 2019. We were dependent on outside supply and we are dependent even now," said Dar.
Probably the only guy not in house arrest right now, and the first to fold in the face of bleak future prospects as a politician. Has Kashmir found its next Chief Minister ?

Ruag finally agrees to sell giant fairings to SpaceX?
[TESLARATI] SpaceX may have signed an agreement with ULA supplier RUAG for bigger Falcon fairings.
SpaceX has been trying for many years to buy these but faced the 8 ball.
According to comments made to a member of the space industry by a RUAG spokesperson, the prominent aerospace supplier may have finally reached an agreement with SpaceX to manufacture a handful of larger payload fairings for future Falcon 9 and Heavy launches.

In the likely event that SpaceX is one of two contractors awarded a portion of several dozen US military launch contracts next year, the company will need to be able to cater to niche requirements, including accommodating unusually tall military satellites. Those satellites can be so tall that SpaceX’s own payload fairing – generally middle-of-the-pack relative to competitors’ offerings – may be too short, meaning that SpaceX will have to find ways around that minor shortcoming.

The White Supremacy Hoax
[American Greatness] The specter of white supremacy haunts America. Let us empower the government to crush it.

Just yesterday, "the deplorables" were to be deplored because they were "racist, sexist, homophobic," clingers to "God and guns," and Russian dupes to boot. Today, the agility and unanimity with which our politicians and media‐heck, the ruling class‐have shifted to indicting roughly 72 percent of the population as white supremacists, likely violent, would fill with envy their homologues in China, Cuba, North Korea, and other tyrannical places. By comparison, Joseph Goebbels had sloppy message discipline. Not even the Soviets in their salad days were so "on message!"

One may suppose that our ruling class merely intends to energize its constituencies and cower the opposition in the 2020 elections. But this is no game. Their proposals would impose pre-punishment for pre-crimes on persons accused or "suspected" of being a "white supremacist." By whom? On the basis of what?

In practice, a "white supremacist" is anyone whom anyone in power dislikes enough to so label him. Who would accept being outlawed at will? Our ruling class plays with matches in a house drenched in gasoline.

Here is the latest. The Wall Street Journal on Saturday featured an essay by one Clint Watts, formerly of the FBI and West Point’s Counter Terrorism Center. Watts makes those proposals using the word "white" 16 times in 18 paragraphs. The sociopolitical ideas rife among white people are the main matrix of terrorism in America, Watts contends. Racial profiling, anyone?

Bemoaning the fact that U.S. law now restricts surveillance of, never mind restrictions on, U.S. persons to those who have committed or may be about to commit crimes, Watts proposes legislation that would permit designating persons associated with what the government may identify as "white supremacist ideology" as subject to surveillance to "preemptively assess whether these white supremacists are taking a radical turn toward violence."

Watts also proposes "red flag" laws, that would allow the government to take away weapons from someone so designated. Loss of weapons would be the least of burdens imposed on anyone so "red-flagged." Career, reputation, possibly family, would be gone because someone in the notoriously impartial FBI so decided, perhaps with the agreement of the highly scrupulous FISA court, subsequent to ex parte, secret proceedings.

For me, the number is zero.

My 1st- and 2nd-degree circle comprises about 500 people I've known and worked with directly over the decades; another 500+ social and family-related acquaintances; and probably another few hundred neighbors in the various places I've lived.

I don't know - I have not known, have never heard mention by - anyone who knows a W. S.

I've moved in many circles in many places: high, low, west, east, educated and not, US and foreign. I'm sure the same is true of most of us here on the 'burg.

Do the math, and it is extraordinarily unlikely that W.S.'it's constitute more than 1:10,000 of those 62.9m US adults who voted for the Dread Orange Man in 2016.

That gets you - MAXIMUM - 6,000 W.S'ists in the US.

There are more black supremacists in this country than than W.S'ists.
There are probably about as many ANTIFA ninja warrior nuts as W.S'ists.
There are almost certainly more domestic jihadists than W.S'ists.

No doubt, W.S. is a problem worthy of the domestic counter-terror authorities' attention.

But any serious, sober analysis will yield the conclusion that W.S. cannot be, must not be considered as a uniquely pestilential threat or imminent danger in isolation from those other three supremacist/totalitarian tendencies.

After September 11, she adopted an anti-Islam stance and today her legacy is enjoying a moment of renewed popularity.

In 2019 Italy, Fallaci's unapologetic Islamophobia is alarmingly mainstream. The new ruling class is rediscovering Fallaci as a prescient thinker.

Streets or squares have been renamed after her in Pisa and Arezzo, in central Italy, and Genoa, further north.

A public garden was also dedicated to her in Sesto San Giovanni, an industrial town close to Milan, where the mayor also blocked the construction of a mosque and recently mentioned Fallaci in his inauguration speech: "Her exhortations to the West to wake up still resonate today."

Trust busting to follow? One can only hope, since reforming themselves is not a possibility.
[SaraACarter] A former Google insider claiming the company created algorithms to hide its political bias within artificial intelligence platforms ‐ in effect targeting particular words, phrases and contexts to promote, alter, reference or manipulate perceptions of Internet content ‐ delivered roughly 950 pages of documents to the Department of Justice’s Antitrust division Friday.

The former Google insider, who has already spoken in to the nonprofit organization Project Veritas, met with SaraACarter.com on several occasions last week. He was interviewed in silhouette, to conceal his identity, in group’s latest film, which they say exposes bias inside the social media platform.

Several weeks prior, the insider mailed a laptop to the DOJ containing the same information delivered on Friday, they said. The former insider is choosing to remain anonymous until Project Verita’s James O’Keefe reveals his identity tomorrow (Wednesday).

He told this news hound on his recent trip to Washington D.C. that the documents he turned over to the Justice Department will provide proof that Google has been manipulating the algorithms and the evidence of how it was done, the insider said.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai told the House Judiciary Committee in December, 2018, that the search engine was not biased against conservatives. Pichai explained what algorithm’s are said Google’s algorithm was not offensive to conservatives because its artificial intelligence does not operate in that manner. He told politicians, "things like relevance, freshness, popularity, how other people are using it" are what drives the search results. Pichai said even if his programmers were anti-Republican, the process is so intricate that the artificial intelligence could not be manipulated and it was to complicated to train the algorithm to fit their bias.

Google did not immediately respond for comment on the insider’s claims, however, this story will be updated if comment is provided.

#7  I think it's as Glenmore said. An individual, a company, a newspaper, a magazine, google... it's part of basic rights to be able use your entire commercial enterprise to try and sway public opinion.

As long as dissemination of slanderous or inaccurate information is not sold to the public as 'facts' and 'news'. The media plays this game within the boundaries of legal ethics. For example, many leftist articles we see pose as centrist, left-of-center, but contain verbiage leaning toward insulting and deprecatory of right-wing views and Trump in ways not immediately overt.

The search engines and soc-media enablers of democrat propaganda can filter out right-wing views and facts of the Trump administrations achievements, not removing them, but burying them under page selections of alternatively irreverent or sanctimonious articles and reports that vilify or heckle the Trump administration. A search on google for right-wing contexts will lead you to more results making fun of them. A search on Amazon, for books on Trump or any right-wing concern will give you more leftist shit with five-stars, signaling you are an oddity in an otherwise saner world that hates Trump.

If they want to do that, they can. It won't work though. They are democrat supporters who are campaigning through their enterprises.

But how can you legally shift votes ? Only by convincing people and converting them to your way of thinking.

I reckon that the people have had their fill of digital media, and it's ability to infect minds is overestimated. When they look at republican cities, counties, businesses and compare the Obama regime with Trump's efforts, his people - I'm sure the democrats seem like a joke to the voter.

#11  Google is not an ordinary media company competing with others in the public square.

Google's 90% dominance of search renders it, de facto, the gatekeeper for digital information, news and assistance.

It is and must be viewed as a public utility akin to the electrical grid or the interstate highway system.

At a minimum it should be intensely regulated and forced to be transparent as to how its algorithms prioritize search results. More likely, search should become a regulated public utility a la electricity or highways.

#13  Telecoms’ license to engage in commerce can and should be regulated by government to promote the public welfare. Until the government reigns them in, monolithic Telecom companies will continue censoring those they dislike—until the Common Carrier Doctrine is imposed against them. Antitrust action also would be appropriate.

It cannot be disputed that (as private companies) these monolithic Telecom companies have no obligation to comply with the First Amendment. They are not government entities subject to the First Amendment. They laugh every time we claim a civil rights violation to our free speech— because they think they’re safe as private companies to run roughshod over conservatives as much as they please.

However, the Telecoms forget that they cannot be allowed to violate the Common Carrier Doctrine —“come one, come all . . . each to be given fair access and passage."

They also cannot be permitted to continue their criminal Antitrust activities . . .

The imposition of the Common Carrier Doctrine will likely need to be through Congressional Act (although the Courts could certainly equitably find common carrier status easily enough for almost any of these monolithic Telecom companies under current law). And, given the clear coordination between the Telecoms, the DOJs Antitrust Division should take action, as well.

Until the Common Carrier Doctrine is imposed, or an Antitrust action reins them in, these unregulated monolithic Telecom companies will continue their discriminatory abuses of conservatives—hiding behind the false claim of a private right to content-based discrimination.

1. Promote left-wing candidates and left wing materials and left-biased websites, while at the same time,
2. De-emphasize conservative candidates, and shadow ban and censor conservative web sites, and demonetize authors they don't agree with.

It is not a level playing field. It is very much like a tech way of election-rigging.

What Hong Kong unrest tells us about China's plans for the rest of the world
[FOX] The outside world can do little to assure the future of freedom in Hong Kong beyond making the case that preserving the principles of liberty are at stake. Nevertheless, the plight of that territory’s more than 7 million souls can teach us an important lesson about what China has in mind for the rest of the world. It is not good.

For starters, the continuing protests speak volumes about China’s commitment to "one country two systems." When the British transferred sovereignty over Hong Kong to China in 1997, Beijing agreed to this arrangement. It guaranteed that Hong Kong would be allowed to maintain its own governance and economic system.

The Hong Kong system‐one of great economic freedom--has produced tremendous economic success. But economic freedom is no more popular than political freedom among the Chinese Communist Party. And in recent years, Chinese authorities have been encroaching on the rights supposedly guaranteed to Hong Kongers under the "one country, two systems" agreement.

Epstein? Russia? Move the DOJ and FBI out of Washington
[PJ] "Jeffrey Epstein's computers seized during FBI raid on private island " screams the headline in Tuesday's New York Post.

It's meant to be a shocker, but are you shocked? Of course not. What's shocking is that this didn't happen ten years ago.

The behavior of the federal government in the Epstein matter from its inception to the tycoon/pedophile's death has been nothing short of execrable. The attorney general was "appalled." He should have been, although it's likely little of this happened directly on his watch. But it besmirches the entire organization.

That people were hidden from exposure in this most heinous of crimes ‐ they call it "short eyes" in prison for a reason ‐ because they were important or powerful in some way is nauseating. Once the facts are known, everyone involved (adults only, of course) should be incarcerated or, failing that, subject to the public, career-destroying, opprobrium they so richly deserve. This should happen no matter whose ox is gored. (The repellent celebrities that continued to pal around with Epstein after his initial incarceration deserve their own special ring of Dante's Hell.)

But bad as it is, the Epstein affair is far from the worst malfeasance of the FBI/DOJ in recent years. That honor belongs to the Russia probe. Epstein, horrible as it is, is largely about the private lives of a certain number of despicable individuals. The Russia madness affected all of us, dominating the public attention since Trump was elected and weakening America before the world for absolutely no reason but to reverse the results of an otherwise legal election.

It was a treasonous farce with FBI and the DOJ up to their necks in all of it, as well as numerous other government agencies and officials, but let's restrict ourselves to these two culprits.

These organizations are too incestuous and, as my headline indicates, are headquartered too close to the rest of the government in Washington. That means that people involved with justice spend too much time around politicians, media and all the rest of the Beltway players. They are subject to influences they should be far away from. They have friends they shouldn't have.

Stacey 'Boxcar' Abrams to Start ‘Voter Protection' Program in Key 2020 Election States
[Breitbart] Former Georgia Democrat gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams is launching a "voter protection" program that would provide Democrats with fodder to win in 2020 presidential election swing states.

The program, called Fair Fight 2020, would help "Democratic Party leaders and activists" in over a dozen battleground states "to immediately begin building systems to make sure their voters have minimal problems casting ballots and that those ballots are counted," the Washington Post reported Tuesday.

Abrams, 45, is scheduled to announce the program on Tuesday at a convention for the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades in Las Vegas.

Abrams, who has spent the past few months mulling a presidential campaign since her election loss to Georgia Republican Brian Kemp, will be focusing on helping the Democratic Party in 20 battleground states.

The initiative would cost between $4 million to $5 million, spending money on states in the Midwest and Southeast, as well as three states with gubernatorial elections this campaign cycle: Mississippi, Louisiana, and Kentucky.

Lauren Groh-Wargo, chief executive of Fair Fight, said Abrams wants Democrats to be more aware of voting irregularities such as voting machine shortages, inaccurate ballot counts, and a lack of rules governing how votes are counted.

FBI Seeking To Question Alleged Al-Qaeda Operative In Brazil

[Jpost] The US Federal Bureau of Investigation is seeking to question an alleged Egyptian al-Qaeda operative believed to be living in Brazil, and the South American country has pledged to cooperate with the United States in any way it can.

The FBI added Mohammed Ahmed Elsayed Ahmed Ibrahim to its Most Wanted list on Monday, saying he was being sought "for questioning in connection with his alleged role as an al-Qaeda operative and controller who has allegedly been involved in plotting attacks against the United States and its interests."

The FBI said he had been "providing material support" since about 2013 for al-Qaeda, the group behind the September 11 attacks in New York in 2001. It said he was born in Egypt in 1977 and is currently living in Brazil.

In a joint statement on Monday, Brazil's justice and foreign affairs ministries said the Egyptian had entered Brazil in 2018 and was a legal resident in the country.

"The Brazilian government is open to cooperating with US authorities on its request, in accordance with our law, and is following the case," the statement said.

Four Iranian nuclear scientists were assassinated between 2010-2012 and the government wanted to find the culprits of the crime. More than 100 people were accused of being foreign spies.

Ebrahimi told the BBC that he was ready to admit to anything because he wanted to die.

His interrogators asked him to admit being behind a blast that destroyed a missile factory run by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), killing multiple missile experts.

An IRGC intelligence officer began questioning Ebrahimi and realized there were multiple discrepancies between his testimony and the actual event.

Ebrahimi was given apologies by the Intelligence Ministry but remained in jail until 2015. After his release, Ebrahimi filed a complaint against newspapers, the Iranian state TV and against the Intelligence Ministry but withdrew the complaint.

He is now living in Germany, having sought asylum there six months ago.

Senate Dems deliver stunning warning to Supreme Court: ’Heal’ or face restructuring

[FoxNews] Several high-profile Senate Democrats warned the Supreme Court in pointed terms this week that it could face a fundamental restructuring if justices do not take steps to "heal" the court in the near future.

The ominous and unusual warning was delivered as part of a brief filed Monday in a case related to a New York City gun law. Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, Richard Durbin, D-Ill., and Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., referenced rulings by the court's conservative majority in claiming it is suffering from some sort of affliction which must be remedied.

"The Supreme Court is not well. And the people know it," the brief said. "Perhaps the Court can heal itself before the public demands it be 'restructured in order to reduce the influence of politics.'"

The last part was quoting language from a Quinnipiac University poll, in which 51 percent favored such restructuring. In the same poll, 55 percent believed the Supreme Court was "motivated by politics" more than by the law.

Dramatic changes to the Supreme Court have been proposed by several Democrats vying for their party's 2020 presidential nomination, with "court-packing" being a common -- though highly controversial -- suggestion. Increasing the number of justices on the court would allow the president to shift the balance on the bench by loading up justices of his or her preference.

Man Screaming ‘Allahu Akbar’ Goes on Sydney Stabbing Spree
[BREITBART] A man screaming "Allahu Akbar" went on a stabbing spree in downtown Sydney on Tuesday, killing one woman and wounding another before the public restrained him, an incident that local police insist was not terror-related.

The 21-year-old man, who has yet to be publicly identified, can be seen in footage posted online jumping on a car at a busy intersection waving a knife and shouting "Allahu Akbar." The man then falls onto the street as the car moves away, and tried to run away before being tackled by civilians.

"Shoot me, fucking shoot me in the fucking head, shoot me, I want to fucking die," he says at one point.

At a presser, New South Wales police commissioner Mick Fuller confirmed the death of a 21-year-old woman, while rejecting claims that the attack was terror-inspired, saying:

At around two this afternoon we received multiple phone calls about a 21-year-old man from Marayong, in the vicinity of King Street armed with a knife and wearing a balaclava. Over the next six minutes ... there was terrifying carnage in that area. He stabbed a 41-year-old woman in the back ‐ it appears to be a random attack.

Three members of the public who can only be described as highest-order heroes, have engaged this 21-year-old man and have placed him essentially under arrest, even though he was brandishing a large butcher’s knife and was clearly dangerous.A number of other emergency services were in the vicinity and responded shortly after, and police put this individual in jug.

In the next 30 minutes an expanded scene of the crime unfortunately identified a 21-year-old woman ... deceased. All the available information we have at hand would link these two crimes.

Our counter-terrorist command immediately stood up and the joint CT team which includes police and state and fed agencies, have assessed all available info in relation to his crime and it is not currently classed as a terrorism based incident.
The Daily Mail adds that the gentleman was known to the police as having serious mental health issues. The usual photos and video at the link:

French charities SOS Mediterranee and MSF rescued another 105 migrants colonists off the coast of Libya on Monday, bringing to 356 the number of those aboard the ’Ocean Viking’ now seeking a safe port. The rescue was complicated by the migrants colonists’ blue rubber dinghy starting to sink as the charity vessel approached in international waters around 40 nautical miles from Libya, AFP reported. Those rescued on Monday are all male, mostly Sudanese, and include 29 minors and two boys aged five and 12.

The rescue is the fourth in as many days for the ’Ocean Viking’, which is equipped to carry 200-250 people although the number on board could increase beyond that. The charities have said fair weather conditions are likely encouraging more departures from Libyan shores.

The rescues come at a time of tension between Italia and other EU states, with the Italian government refusing to let migrants colonists land on its shores unless its EU partners help take them in.

Another 150 rescued migrants colonists are stuck on board the ’Open Arms’ ship operated by Spanish charity Proactiva off the coast of Italia’s southern Lampedusa island.

According to a military source in the Deir Ezzor Governorate, the Syrian Arab Army suffered three casualties during the terrorist attack, while two members of the Islamic State were killed.

The source added that the Islamic State was unable to achieve their main objective, which was to raid the Syrian Army post near the strategic city of al-Mayadeen.

The Islamic State has carried out several attacks like this in the last few months, prompting the Syrian Arab Army to increase their military presence in the Deir Ezzor and Homs countrysides.

Among the prisoners is an alleged ISIS commander who managed the Hawija Grain Mill when the group controlled the area from mid-2014 to October 2017.

In a video published on Facebook by the Iraqi defense ministry, the unnamed ISIS commander, whose face is blurred, is showed confessing to the murder of three Kurds and two other individuals from Diyala province.

"Members of our group kidnapped three Kurdish nationals and brought them to Hawija. Our leader ordered me to behead them. Together with two other persons who were from Diyala, we executed the order," he said, without identifying their leader.

Iraqi and Kurdish security forces regularly publish videos of their captives making confessions ‐ a format often seen in jihadist propaganda films. Human rights groups regularly accuse Iraqi courts of using confessions obtained by duress.

The defense ministry condemned the "barbaric" group, accusing them of "heinous crimes against humanity killing innocent people" without providing details.

[DAWN] The corpse count from typhoon Lekima in eastern China rose to 44 people on Monday morning, according to official data, as the storm continued up the coast, racking up billions of dollars in economic losses and widely disrupting travel.

An additional 12 people were recorded dead from the storm, including seven from Zhejiang province and five from Shandong, with 16 people missing, according to data from provincial emergency bureaus and state media.

Typhoon Lekima made landfall early on Saturday in China’s Zhejiang province, with winds gusting up to 187 kmh (116 mph). The center of the storm has since traveled north through Shandong and off the coast.

The Shandong Emergency Management Bureau said more than 180,000 people were evacuated in the province, adding to an earlier evacuation of roughly 1 million people in Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces as well as the financial hub of Shanghai.

The latest update from Shandong brings the total estimated economic toll of the storm to 18 billion yuan ($2.55 billion) in China, including damage to 364,000 hectares of crops and more than 36,000 homes. Shandong alone estimated the total economic impact on agriculture was 939 million yuan.

China denies Hong Kong port visit for US Navy ships amid tensions
[AlAhram] China has denied a request for two U.S. Navy ships to visit Hong Kong in the coming weeks, U.S. officials said on Tuesday, as the political crisis in the former British colony deepened.

The officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the transport dock ship Green Bay had requested to visit later this month, while the guided-missile cruiser Lake Erie had requested to visit in September.

One of the officials said a specific reason was not given, but such a move is not unprecedented.

The last time China denied a port visit to Hong Kong was for the assault ship Wasp in September 2018. The amphibious command ship Blue Ridge made a port visit to Hong Kong in April.

The move comes as police and demonstrators protesting against Beijing's growing influence in Hong Kong clashed at the international airport on Tuesday after flights were disrupted for a second day.

On Sunday, regime forces seized the town of al-Habeet in Idlib’s southern countryside, in their first major ground advance in the province since an escalation on the jihadist-dominated enclave more than three months ago.

The region was supposed to be protected from a massive government offensive by a Ottoman Turkish-Russian buffer zone deal struck last September.

But it has come under increasing bombardment by Damascus and its backer Moscow since the end of April that has killed 816 civilians, according to the Observatory.

The violence has also pushed 400,000 people from their homes, according to the United Nations

Newark handing out bottled water as lead levels test high
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Some Newark residents are getting bottled water after elevated lead levels were found.

The city has given thousands of filters to residents in homes with lead service lines.

But the US Environmental Protection Agency said recent tests showed drinking water in a few locations was still testing high for lead despite the filters.

Water was available at four locations in the city on Monday.

An environmental group sued the city last year, saying Newark’s water has dangerously high lead levels and alleging that the city has failed to conduct adequate monitoring.

The Natural Resources Defense Council said on Monday it is seeking a court order to force the city to go door-to-door to instruct residents on how to use the filters.

The jihadists attempted to seize a nearby military base after the raid, but were rebuffed following a one-hour shootout, Kolo and a military source said.

The decade-long insurgency in northeast Nigeria has killed over 27 000 people, displaced some two million and spilt over into neighbouring countries.

The jihadists are notorious for stepping up attacks during the Eid season, prompting heightened security across the region.

The reaction to India's unprecedented move has so far been largely subdued. But anti-India protests and clashes have occurred daily, mostly as soldiers withdraw from the streets at dusk. Though the scale of the lockdown is unprecedented, civil resistance to Indian rule is not uncommon in Kashmir, and young men have hurled stones and abuse at police and soldiers.

Indian troops patrolling the disputed region allowed some Muslims to walk to mosques to mark the Eid al-Adha festival on Monday, and shops were opened briefly on previous days.

The lockdown is expected to last at least through Thursday, India's independence day.

An uneasy calm continued to prevail along the Line of Control in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, where residents of Chakothi, a remote border town, said they were living in a state of uncertainty.

Jalal Hanif, a shop owner, said there had been no exchange of fire in Chakothi or elsewhere in Pakistan's part of Kashmir since New Delhi imposed the changes.

Remains of 31 unidentified 'enforced disappearance' victims buried in Karbala
[Rudaw] The bodies of 31 victims of ’enforced disappearance’ were buried in a Karbala cemetery by a Hashd al-Shaabi affiliated organization on Tuesday, a move panned by Iraqi politicians.

The bodies had been stored in a hospital in the nearby city of Hillah since 2014, according to an official letter by the forensic medicine division of Babel governorate's health department issued on July 29. They were taken from Hillah hospital in northern Babel to Karbala by Raad al-Shook, head of the Fatima al-Zahra organization.

Fatima al-Zahra claim to provide "logistical support" to Hashd al-Shaabi (otherwise known as the Popular Mobilization Forces, or PMF), for which they have received awards from Hashd leaders.

Monday’s burial is one of a series that have been conducted by the organization.

Hadi al-Shimari, a Fatima al-Zahra member, said the organization has buried a total of 231 bodies that had been stored in Hillah hospital’s forensic medicine facility.

"We buried 125 bodies in the first stage, 75 bodies in the second stage, while the 31 bodies is the [current] third stage of the project," al-Shimari stated in an interview with al-Jazeera on Monday.

The bodies are believed to belong to civilians disappeared from the town of Jurf al-Sakhir in northern Babel province in 2014 after the town was recaptured by the Iraqi army and PMF paramilitias.

Strategically located between Sunni krazed killer strongholds in Anbar governorate and the Shiite holy city of Karbala, Jurf al-Sakhir witnessed heavy fighting between ISIS and Iraqi government forces for months.

The Iraqi military, backed by Shiite militias, recaptured Jurf al-Sakhir from ISIS in October 2014.

The Iraqi government has come under criticism for procedures surrounding mass grave excavation in Samawa, southern Iraq, where DNA testing is not taking place on the recently exhumed remains of Kurdish civilians killed during the Saddam Hussein-orchestrated Anfal genocide.

"I have criticized the Iraqi government several times, demanding there should be DNA tests for the mass graves by the Iraqi government to help the families identify the graves of their relatives because that is their right and that is the duty of the Iraqi government," Anfal survivor Hedar Zubir Barzani, whose father was taken away during the Anfal campaign, told Rudaw on July 23.

Guards suspended, warden reassigned after Epstein death

She's not likely in GB but maybe. There is Virginia Roberts Giuffre and others who can still testify such as Rachel Chandler. His seized computers and documents are available. Financial records should be available. There are Epstein employees in various locations who can be interviewed. Possible witnesses need to be protected.

#11  When I first heard about it I joked it was a set up, like most did. I figured the guards that would do it would be moved in. They would get paid very well, they would take the fall for being incompetent, and get fired. The union would then come back and get them rehired or negotiate a golden early retirement for the guards. Unfortunately, I suspect the guard will die in a car accident or suicide.

In new migrant standoff, Italy's Salvini blocks two NGO boats
[AlAhram] Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini said on Tuesday he was working to prevent two rescue ships operated by French and Spanish charities from bringing more than 500 migrants colonists to Italia in the latest Mediterranean stand-off.

The Ocean Viking, which is run by French non-governmental groups (NGOs) Doctors Without Borders and SOS Mediterranee, has picked up some 356 migrants colonists off the coast of Libya since Friday, while Spanish boat Open Arms has saved some 160 people.

Both vessels are in the central Mediterranean, within easy sailing distance of the Italian island of Lampedusa and are seeking a safe port to disembark the mainly African migrants colonists.

But Salvini, the leader of the far-right League who has seen his popularity in Italia soar since he took office last year and launched a fierce anti-immigration crackdown, said on Tuesday the boats were not Rome's problem.

"I am at work in the ministry this morning to prevent more than 500 migrants colonists from disembarking from two NGO boats, one French and one Spanish," Salvini wrote on Facebook.

"I will let you know how this ends. I will not give up."

Earlier this month, Salvini introduced a new law hiking fines for ships that enter Italian waters without authorisation to up to 1 million euros ($1.12 million). It also provides for the arrest of captains who ignore orders to stay away and calls on naval authorities to seize their boats automatically.

Buoyed by his success in the polls, Salvini is looking to trigger an early election in the autumn by bringing down the Italian government, confident he would emerge as prime minister from any new vote. As such, a high-profile clash with foreign charities will bolster his anti-migrant credentials.

Salvini said Libya had offered to take back the migrants colonists aboard the Ocean Viking and said Open Arms should go to Spain.

Shots Fired At Ice Offices In San Antonio
[CBSNews] The FBI said Tuesday it is investigating after shots were fired in the early morning hours at a San Antonio office building that houses Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). No one was injured in the shooting, officials said.

Investigators say that around 3:00 a.m. Tuesday, shots were fired into a window of a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office and Removal Operations Field Office, CBS San Antonio affiliate KENS reports.

The FBI said no one had been arrested in connection to the incident, despite earlier reports from San Antonio police that there was a suspect in custody.

The FBI special-agent-in-charge Christopher Combs called it a "targeted attack."

"To fire indiscriminately into any building especially a federal facility is not an act of protest- it's an act of violence," Combs said at a press conference. "And in in this case it's an act of violence that could have resulted in the assassination of a federal employee. That cannot happen in San Antonio."

ICE San Antonio field office director Daniel Bible told KENS that he believed "political rhetoric and misinformation that various politicians, media outlets and activists" encouraged the incident.

The 203rd Thunder Corps said in a statement the Special Forces destroyed the suicide bombers training center in Tagab area of Baraki Barak district.

The statement further added that the Special Forces also killed 8 Talibs during the same operation.

Furthermore, the 203rd Thunder Corps said the Talibs were also using the compound as a storage depot of weapons, munitions and explosives.
