Libyan Air Force strikes military operations room of Haftar's forces in Jufra
[Libya Observer] Spokesman of the Libyan army, Mohammed Ganouno disclosed that the Libyan Air Force has struck the main operating room of Haftar's forces, in al-Jufra Air Base.

"The operating room was supervised by foreign officers from an aggressive regional state," Ganounu told the news conference.

He further confirmed the complete destruction of the operating room and the killing of six foreign officers.

This is the second time in less than a week that the air force has targeted a foreign force; the first, was the Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
on the operations room in Qasr bin Ghashir area last Monday, which killed seven mercenaries, who were hired to operate new weapons used to shell the capital, according to the Libyan Army.

General Flynn Goes On Offense Against the Deep State
h/t Instapundit
[PowerLine] Several months ago, General Michael Flynn replaced his original defense team with Sidney Powell, a Texas lawyer who is a veteran of the Department of Justice and author of Licensed To Lie: Exposing Corruption in the Department of Justice. Powell is a self-promoter, but she also appears to be a very good lawyer.

She certainly is aggressive. Powell has launched an all-out attack against Flynn’s prosecutors, whom she regards as dishonest and corrupt. Given what we have learned about the involvement of the FBI and DOJ in the Russia collusion hoax, there is no reason to think she is wrong.

On Wednesday, Powell’s motion to compel further production of documents from the prosecution was unsealed. Margot Cleveland comments at The Federalist:

Yesterday’s filing expanded exponentially on the areas of evidence Powell seeks and lays bare Powell’s bigger plan moving forward: to expose the breadth and depth of SpyGate and how flaying Flynn lay at the heart of the soft coup attempt.

In her Motion to Compel, Powell catalogued 40 categories of evidence the government has refused to turn over. She seeks a court order requiring federal prosecutors to provide the withheld evidence under Brady and its progeny. Brady and its offshoots require prosecutors to disclose material exculpatory and impeachment evidence to the defense team.

#2  Jeebus, Trump stepped into a den of lying, crooked, corrupted snakes when he decided to run for office.

Will the American people ever see justice done with regards to Spygate? These people deserve to be keelhauled and then again.

#4  It seems to me that he war against corruption is like mowing the lawn — something that must be done regularly to keep the worst of it in check and encourage a culture less welcoming of such behaviour.

And while everyone is paying attention to the show, senate Republicans have approved 152 judges proposed by President Trump, which will make prosecuting corruption in the government bureaucracy much easier.

#5  #3 Yes, they seem bound and determined to show Normie that "proper channels" are a bad joke.

They are incentivizing the use of far harsher remedies.

And when those remedies are applied our betters will mewl "But who could have foreseen this?"

#4 Prosecuting corruption won't happen if Trump fails to get control of the DOJ.

And the same people getting those judges through are only too happy to gum up the works on political appointees.

Which makes me wonder about some of those judges.

Records Found in Dusty Basement Undermine Decades of Dietary Advice
h/t Instapundit
If biology has an Indiana Jones, it is Christopher Ramsden: he specializes in excavating lost studies, particularly those with the potential to challenge mainstream, government-sanctioned health advice.

His latest excavation‐made possible by the pack-rat habits of a deceased scientist, the help of the scientist’s sons, and computer technicians who turned punch cards and magnetic tape into formats readable by today’s computers‐undercuts a pillar of nutrition science.

Ramsden, of the National Institutes of Health, unearthed raw data from a 40-year-old study, which challenges the dogma that eating vegetable fats instead of animal fats is good for the heart. The study, the largest gold-standard experiment testing that idea, found the opposite, Ramsden and his colleagues reported on Tuesday in BMJ (formerly the British Medical Journal).
In case you thought AGW is the first scientific hoax ever.

#1  This is a lot like how I've been reading mainstream / national news for the last thirty years or so. If they tell me something, my first response is 'how are these bastards lying to me now?' It's likely that the explanation is this - 'government scientists' as a whole suck big hairy donkey balls when compared to their private counterparts. I know that's how I generally regard my fellow tax professionals at the IRS, Mass. Dept. of Revenue, and so on.

#4  My first exposure to the idea that the scientific establishment could get things wrong was my father’s rant about the misbehaviour of the FDA in approving saccharine instead of cyclamates, when the Canadian government chose in the other direction based on properly done studies.

On the other hand, other than a copy of Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring in our bookshelves, my father never discussed the harm the lady’s advocacy disguised as science did to the world, not to mention to his personal fortunes. (See his patent here, now lapsed, in case anyone wants to develop it.)

Almost half of us cry at work, sad survey finds
h/t Instapundit
Need a tissue? Join the club.

The number of people who have cried at work is surprisingly high: 45%.

The oddly comforting figure was highlighted in September’s Harper’s Index, the magazine’s list of telling statistics, presented without commentary.

However, as many of us know, the concept of having a total and utter breakdown at your desk or in the office bathroom isn’t new. Even the citation of the Harper’s Index notes that it’s from a 2018 Accountemps survey.

The reasons for bawling on the clock are many ‐ and often don’t involve work itself. Sometimes you just happen to be there! A 2019 Monster survey found that 19% of people boohoo over personal reasons, such as family troubles or health issues.

If you don’t want to become a statistic, you’re in luck. New York City is probably the best place to cry. There’s plenty of ideal ‐ and very public ‐ locations for when you need to have a moment, from the subway to, oh I don’t know, Joe’s Pizza on Carmine Street at 2 a.m.

The New York Post stated on 9/20/17: Samantha Power, who was the US Ambassador to the UN under former President Barack Obama, averaged more than one “unmasking” request for every working day in 2016 — even going so far as to seek the names of Trump associates just before his inauguration, a report says.

News reports are surfacing that former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Samantha Power unmasked the identities of American citizens on an “almost daily basis,” revealing the possibility that Power alone may have violated the constitutional rights of hundreds of American citizens.

Her reported actions should not come as much of a surprise to those who followed the Obama administration’s eight years in power, which was rife with executive abuses of authority.

Fox News: Iran pension funds on verge of collaps

...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
pension funds are on the verge of collapse according to Fox News.

The crisis is caused by the U.S. maximum pressure campaign imposed by the Trump administration after it withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal.

The report claims that of 18 existing retirement funds in Iran, 17 are in the red, according to document reviewed by National Security Council officials and obtained by Fox News.

That includes the pension funds for all of Iran’s armed forces.

Six Nigerian soldiers dead in Islamist Militants' attacks
[AlAhram] Islamist Militants killed six soldiers and a civilian militia leader as they hit three towns in Nigeria's conflict-torn northeastern state of Borno, security sources and residents told AFP on Friday.

Several troops and forces of Evil are also missing, they said.

Suspected fighters from Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
West Africa Province (ISWAP), affiliated to the so-called Islamic State group, attacked the town of Gubio around 1630 GMT on Thursday, unleashing a battle with security forces.

"The bodies of six soldiers and the (local) head of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) were recovered outside the town with bullet wounds," a security source said.

The Islamist Militants stormed into Gubio aboard a dozen pickup trucks mounted with machine guns, according to local resident Idrissa Kaka, who confirmed the corpse count.

They also made off with three military vehicles and a van belonging to the CJTF.

"The whereabouts of the remaining soldiers is unknown. Our fear is that they were captured along with the vehicles," he said.

The Islamist Militants then attacked the towns of Gajiganna and Gajiram, where they torched buildings and sent soldiers fleeing, residents said.

Gubio, which lies 80 kilometres (50 miles) north of Borno state capital Maiduguri, has been repeatedly targeted by the jihadists.

Last month six people including three soldiers were killed when ISWAP attacked military base in the town.

Since July last year ISWAP has intensified attacks on military targets, raiding bases and ambushing military patrols.

Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
fighters loyal to long-time factional leader Abubakar Shekau
...the lunatic leader of Boko Haram who has been reported dead at least eleven times, pledged his body and soul to ISIS, told his fighters to hang it up once or twice, and been fired by the Caliph and refused to step down...
-- who are notorious for killing civilians -- have also carried out attacks on the military.

The decade-long Islamist Militants insurgency in northeast Nigeria
... a particularly crimson stretch of Islam's bloody border...
has claimed more than 35,000 lives and left more than two million people displaced from their homes.

Lebanese-American to be prosecuted for dealing with Israel
[IsraelTimes] Amer Fakhoury said to have worked in a prison run by the Israel-backed South Leb Army before the IDF withdrawal in 2000.

Leb said Friday that a Lebanese-American has been referred to prosecutors after confessing he’d worked for Israel.

Amer Fakhoury was detained after returning to his native Leb from the United States earlier this month. He had worked as warden at the Khiam Prison in southern Leb that was run by an Israeli-backed militia, known as the South Leb Army, until Israel ended an 18-year occupation of the area in 2000.

Leb and Israel have been officially at war since Israel’s creation in 1948.

The Lebanese General Security Directorate said Friday Fakhoury used an Israeli passport before Israel’s withdrawal to travel from Israel to the US

Hundreds of former Lebanese members of the militia had fled to Israel, fearing reprisal if they remained in Leb. Others stayed and faced trial, receiving lenient sentences.
An Nahar neglects to mention Mr. Fakhoury’s American citizenship in their indignation about what is to them a local story:
Lebanon has detained a senior member of a disbanded Israel-backed militia, a judicial source said Thursday, after his return to the country sparked widespread condemnation and revived accusations of torture.

Lebanon's military court had ordered the arrest of Amer al-Fakhoury, a former member of the pro-Israel South Lebanon Army (SLA) militia and a senior warden in the notorious SLA-run Khiyam prison, the source said.

The country's General Security agency has been interrogating Fakhoury since Wednesday, the source added.

Another security source said the former SLA member had fled to the United States and had already been charged in absentia to 15 years in prison for collaborating with Israel.

Opened in 1984 in an Israeli-occupied part of southern Lebanon, the Khiyam prison was run by the Christian-dominated SLA.

Former inmates accuse Fakhoury of ordering the torture of thousands of detainees held there before Israeli forces withdrew from the area in 2000, ending their 22-year occupation of south Lebanon.

The former inmates joined nearly a hundred demonstrators on Thursday outside the Ministry of Justice in Beirut, where they condemned Fakhoury's return to Lebanon, calling him a "butcher."

It was not immediately clear when Fakhoury entered the country, but the Lebanese Al-Akhbar daily said Thursday that he arrived in Beirut's airport "days ago".

The newspaper claimed that all charges against Fakhoury had been "withdrawn", allowing him to leave the airport without being arrested.

Fakhoury left Lebanon in 1998, two years before the Israeli withdrawal.

Amnesty International and other human rights groups have often accused the SLA of torturing its prisoners.

Thousands of former SLA members have been tried in Lebanese military court for collaboration, and the powerful Shiite Hezbollah movement has complained that sentences given to those convicted have been too light.

Many of the Khiyam personnel escaped to Europe or North America when Israel withdrew its forces from south Lebanon in 2000.

Thousands of SLA members and their families also fled to Israel for fear of reprisals by Hezbollah or of criminal charges.

Many have since returned to Lebanon.

Dutchman who stabbed Jewish father and son says he forgot why he attacked them
[IsraelTimes] A Dutch man charged with the attempted manslaughter of a Jewish father and son said he forgot why he stabbed them.
That’s ok. The Dutch authorities are also uninterested in contemplating whys and wherefores.
During the first hearing in the case, the victims asked the judge to consider a religious or racist motive, which currently is not included in the indictment.

Taha Ewis Bakri Abdel Ghani
...known to his fellow vendors at the market as “that damned Egyptian, Tarik the hookah man”...
did not deny the assaults in March on Martin Colmans and his son Sharon, vendors in Amsterdam’s Albert Cuyp Market.

The accused worked in a shop in the market and had had several disputes in the past with the Colmans and others, who complained to authorities about violence on his part.

At Thursday’s hearing, a lawyer for Ewis Bakri Abdel Ghani presented psychiatric evaluations to the Amsterdam criminal tribunal declaring him mentally unfit to stand trial for his actions, according to a report by the AT5 television station.

Along with the manslaughter charges for the stabbing of Colmans and his son Sharon, Ewis Bakri Abdel Ghani was charged with assault against Colmans’s wife.

"I don’t know what happened. It’s not a period of my life I want to remember," Ewis Bakri Abdel Ghani said at the hearing.

Ewis Bakri Abdel Ghani had become more devout in his Moslem faith in the months leading up to the assault, during which he flew frequently to Egypt, the Colmans family said. He began praying outside his shop, reading the Koran and leering at them, the family said.

Esther Voet, editor in chief of the NIW Jewish weekly, who attended the hearing, wrote that the defendant wouldn’t answer when asked whether the attack was anti-Semitic, replying only that his "brother-in-law is a judge."

Forced marriage to rapist: Pabna OC withdrawn, SI closed
[Dhaka Tribune] Pabna Sadar cop shoppe officer-in-charge (OC), who was accused of forcing a rape survivor to marry one of her alleged rapists, has been withdrawn.

OC Obaidul Huq was withdrawn and Sub-Inspector (SI) Ekramul Haque of the same cop shoppe temporarily suspended on Thursday by the district police for their alleged involvement in the "forced marriage" of the rape survivor.

But the woman, who was already married, is a mother of three.

Two more were also arrested in connection with the rape. Till now, a total of four people have been arrested for their alleged involvement.

Pabna Superintendent of police (SP) Sheikh Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

He said: "The decisions were made according to the suggestion of the probe committee setup on Sunday (September 8) to investigate the matter."

OC FORCES SURVIVOR INTO MARRIAGE
On September 5, the woman was reportedly forced to marry her alleged rapist inside Pabna Sadar cop shoppe premises. The rape survivor said OC Obaidul forced her into marrying her rapist, Rasel, after she had just filed a case against him.

WHAT HAPPENED?
According to the woman’s case statement, on August 29, her neighbour Rasel, kidnapped her and took her to his home in Sadar upazila, where Rasel and another man raped and confined her for two days.

On August 31, she was taken to an unused office space and was once again gang raped by Rasel and five others before she was let go.

On September 5, the woman was able to contact her family and was admitted to Pabna General Hospital.

OC Obaidul said the marriage was executed with the consent of both parties. "However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
I am not aware of the marriage taking place inside the cop shoppe."

, will be delayed for a month until a special site can be built at the national Heroes’ Acre monument, a family front man said Friday, the latest turn in a dramatic tussle between his family and the country’s current leader, a once-trusted deputy who helped oust Mugabe from power.

The decision to build a new resting place for the ex-leader, who died at age 95 in Singapore last week, came after consultations with influential traditional chiefs, Mugabe’s nephew, Leo Mugabe, told news hounds. The announcement followed days of controversy over where he should be laid to rest, with Mugabe’s widow, Grace, insisting on a private burial rather than the elaborate state funeral planned by the government.

"The construction will take about 30 days to complete," Leo Mugabe said. "The burial will not take place until it is finished." He said Mugabe’s body would be preserved until then.

But Leo Mugabe said the dear departed leader will not be buried next to his first wife. The Mugabe family and the traditional chiefs have apparently decided that a special site, elevated above the other graves, should be created for the country’s founding leader.

The wrangle over the burial highlighted the lasting acrimony between President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who helped oust Mugabe in 2017, and Mugabe’s widow, Grace, and other family members. Mnangagwa met with them to try to resolve the burial dispute and on Thursday said his government would respect the family’s wishes, adding they have "the full support of the government."

Government officials earlier said that Mugabe would be given a state burial Sunday at Heroes’ Acre accompanied by a 21-gun salute, but Leo Mugabe said that will not happen.

Poland Gets All-Clear to Buy US F-35 Joint Strike Fighters
Eat it Putin!
[Military] The U.S. government has cleared the sale of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter jet to Poland, which is set to become the thirteenth foreign military customer to join the program.

The State Department announced Wednesday that Poland was approved to receive 32 Lockheed Martin-made F-35A Lightning II aircraft with support and associated equipment, for an estimated cost of $6.5 billion.

"The sale of the F-35A Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter to Poland will provide a key NATO ally with the world's most advanced fighter aircraft, improve its ability to provide collective and self-defense, and reduce its dependence on legacy Russian equipment," a State Department official said in a Defense Security Cooperation Agency release.

The F-35 will "contribute to Poland's goal of modernizing its military capabilities while further enhancing interoperability with the United States, NATO members, and other allies," the official added.

Poland formally requested to buy F-35s in May. The following month, a Marine Corps F-35B conducted a flyover above White House as President Donald Trump and Polish president Andrzej Duda watched on. The event underscored the United States' willingness to work with Poland on replacing its Sukhoi Su-22 and MiG-29 fleets with American-made 5th-generation fighters.

"This is a significant step in the acquisition process and towards meeting Poland's goal of having their first aircraft delivered by 2024," Lockheed spokesman Mike Friedman said in a statement. "The F-35 will bring fifth-gen capability to the Polish Air Force providing unmatched lethality, survivability and connectivity to the Polish Armed Forces and enabling advanced interoperability with other NATO F-35 operators."

Child rescued after kidnappers sold him to woman
[DAWN] The minor boy kidnapped three days ago from a street of Ghaziabad was sold for Rs20,000 to a woman in Sheikhupura.

The mother of seven daughters had asked her brother-in-law to kidnap a minor boy from Lahore and hand it over to her.

The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) police traced the suspects with the help of CCTV cameras of the Safe City Authority and recovered four-year-old Umair from Sheikhupura.

A police official told Dawn that the Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

Safe Cities Authority helped police detect the registration number of the cycle of violence which prime suspect Amir used to transport Umair to Sheikhupura. He committed the crime with the help of his accomplice Usman.

The CCTVs detected various locations of the kidnappers when they were taking the boy to Sheikhupura through Shahdara, said the official.

He said Amir and his accomplice had kidnapped Umair on Sept 9 when he, along with his brother, was playing in the street at Chaudhry Colony in Ghaziabad area.

The footage of the incident went viral on social media. One of the suspects could be seen talking to the kids in the street. Moments later, they took away Umair by the bike.

The parents of the boy came to know about it when Umair didn’t return home after a few hours.

The official said prime suspect Amir told police that he committed the offence just to fulfill the desire of his sister-in-law. The boy has been handed over to Amir Latif, his father who works in a factory.

Israel sends stern warning to Lebanon about Hezbollah
[ALMASDARNEWS] Israeli President Reuven Rivlin allegedly sent a stern warning to Leb about Hezbollah’s activities during a meeting with the French Ambassador to Israel this week, the Israeli publication Yedioth Ahronoth reported.

According to the publication, Rivlin told the new French Ambassador to Israel Eric Danon to deliver a message to Leb, warning them that any aggression from Hezbollah will drag both of their countries into war.

"Leb is responsible for all Hezbollah activities. We clearly tell the Lebanese government and its allies around the world that Hezbollah’s aggression must stop before we find ourselves embroiled in a conflict neither Leb nor Israel want," Rivlin said, according to Yedioth Ahronoth.

In response, Danon allegedly said that La Belle France is working to bring stability to the region and avoid any potential war between the two countries.

"Let me assure you that I am here to help with all aspects of our bilateral relations and to maintain the excellent relations between the two countries, paying particular attention to the security of the State of Israel," he added.

Major spy arrest in Canada
[Twitter-Canada]

Cameron Ortis faces seven counts dating as far back as 2015, including breach of trust, communicating “special operational information,” and obtaining information in order to pass it to a “foreign entity.”

The charges did not specify which foreign entity or what type of information, but a source said he had amassed “terabytes of information,” including a list of undercover operatives, when he was arrested in Ottawa on Thursday.

The source said Ortis was identified when U.S. authorities “flipped” a suspect who gave him up. His arrest is believed to be part of a wider operation involving NATO allies and the Five Eyes — Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the U.S. and U.K.

A source said the case involved “large quantities of information, which could compromise an untold number of investigations.” The source said Ortis had allegedly tried to sell information in 2015, and was gearing up to sell more.

Other sources referred to the case as “serious spy s–t.”

Kremlin rejects fraud claims in Saint Petersburg vote
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Kremlin on Friday dismissed claims of widespread fraud in local Saint Petersburg polls where the result has still not been announced nearly a week after election day.

Controversy surrounds the vote for city governor that resulted in a victory for an unpopular acquaintance of President Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
The post is equivalent to that of mayor in other cities.

On Sunday, Russia’s second city also elected municipal deputies but five days later authorities have not yet completed the vote count.

Putin’s front man Dmitry Peskov said Friday that the Kremlin was unaware of "any situations that may somehow cast doubt on the election in Saint Petersburg."

He dismissed possible irregularities as minor "hiccups" and said the Central Election Commission was looking into them.

Asked if the Kremlin considered the continuing vote count in Putin’s hometown acceptable, Peskov referred questions to election officials.

Opposition figures and observers have repeatedly complained about what they describe as egregious violations including alleged instances of ballot stuffing and vote-buying.

They claim that officials have been re-counting votes in precincts won by the opposition in favor of the ruling party United Russia.

"They are stealing the vote from us, they are re-writing protocols," charged Andrei Pivovarov, a coordinator for the United Democrats, a coalition of independent candidates.

"I don’t know whether you can use the word ’hiccups’ to describe what is regulated by the Criminal Code," he told AFP.

"What’s happening now ‐ the falsification of the elections ‐ is a crime."

Algerians take to the streets to oppose presidential poll
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Algerians returned to the streets Friday, protesting proposed presidential elections after parliament passed bills that could pave the way for the announcement of a vote to take place in December.

Demonstrations that started in February led to the resignation of president Abdelaziz Bouteflika
...10th president-for-life of Algeria. He was elected in 1999 and served on his third or four terms. When he announced for the fifth, or maybe it was the sixth, visibly doddering, a grateful nation rose up in its wrath and threw him out...
in April, after 20 years at the helm.

But the movement has continued, with protestors taking to the streets for a 30th consecutive week Friday.

Demonstrators are demanding key regime figures step down and an overhaul of political institutions before any polls, arguing any election under the current framework will only reinforce the status quo.

"Those close to Bouteflika are still in power and an election in these conditions is simply a masquerade," said engineer Lyes Mesbah, 48.

The army, which has de facto taken the reins of the country, has been calling for speedy elections to replace Bouteflika, with army chief General Ahmed Gaid Salah repeatedly insisting that polls be held before year-end.

Despite a deluge the day before that flooded many neighborhoods of the capital Algiers, protestors came out in force to oppose an election.

Last week, Gaid Salah called for an electoral college to be summoned on September 15, so as to conduct an election within 90 days, in mid-December.

This week, parliament passed two bills that would facilitate the announcement of a vote.

Justice Minister Belkacem Zeghmati presented the bills on Wednesday, with both legislative chambers passing them within two days.

Kashmir requires immediate intervention of UN, world powers: PM Imran
[DAWN] Prime Minister Imran Khan

...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. , saying he fears that the situation in the occupied territory could soon spiral out of control.

"Eight million people are currently under siege in Kashmir and there is no news coming out of there," the premier said while speaking to Paula Slier of Russia's Kremlin-backed international broadcaster RT in Islamabad.

"Some 4,000 people have been picked [by Indian forces] in Kashmir, with a curfew imposed there. We fear that an unprecedented oppression is taking place there," he said during the interview published on Friday.

Prime Minister Imran said that India annexed Indian Kashmire unilaterally. "This situation naturally cannot be accepted by the people of the valley."

It seems, he added, that the BJP [Bharatiya Janata Party]-led government has decided to use sheer force to subdue and oppress the people of Kashmir and intimidate them to accept the former’s illegal move.

To a question, the premier said he doesn’t think that the world has reacted as it should have. "The response of the international community is not what we expected," he maintained.

"The UN has the responsibility to act now," he said. "The US, La Belle France, Germany, Russia and other countries should step forward to play their role."

India, he added, has been taken over by a "fascist
...anybody you disagree with, damn them...
, racist government" and by the turban ideology of the hardline organization RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh).

Also, no one dares fuck with a nuclear armed State who generally minds her own business, occasionally doling out the odd $billion to those in need, does business with everyone from the US to Iran to Russia with nary a hitch. Everyone knows we're lovers, not fighters.☺

UK’s Johnson to meet EU’s Juncker for Brexit talks
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Boris Johnson
...pro-Brexit British prime minister, succeeding no-Brexit Theresa May. BoJo is noted as much for his sparkling personality and his hair as for his Conservative policies....
will meet EU chief Jean-Claude Juncker in Luxembourg on Monday, officials said, as the British prime minister bids to broker a Brexit compromise ahead of the October 31 deadline.
"Bring booze"
Johnson will "hold talks with President Juncker on Brexit," his Downing Street office said without providing further details.

EU spokeswoman Natasha Bertaud told news hounds that the two would have a working lunch that was arranged by "common accord."

The British pound gained one percent against the dollar in Friday trading on speculation that the two sides were edging closer to a compromise over the contentious Irish border issue.

Johnson refuses to sign off on an agreement that includes the "backstop," a compromise intended to keep the frontier open for trade and crossings in all post-Brexit scenarios.

It was accepted by his predecessor Theresa May but repeatedly failed to win backing in the British parliament.

Eurosceptics fear the stop-gap measures designed for the border between EU member Ireland and the UK province of Northern Ireland would keep Britannia indefinitely trapped in bloc’s trade zone.

The Times reported on Friday that the DUP, a small Northern Irish party that had helped the ruling Conservatives in London form a majority in parliament since 2017, was now ready to abide by some EU rules.

But DUP leader Arlene Foster denied the report, calling it "nonsense."

"UK must leave as one nation," she tweeted.

Johnson no longer commands a working majority in the House of Commons, and politicians have instructed him to seek a deadline extension from Brussels if no deal emerges.

Johnson has refused, vowing to get Brexit done on schedule and insisting he would strike a new deal.

Israel cuts medical permits for Gazans to halt migration to West Bank — report
[IsraelTimes] State prosecutors tell High Court the government is working to stem flow of ’illegal aliens’ from Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,-run coastal enclave to PA-controlled territory.
Wonder how many Hamasniks have infiltrated this way?
Israel has been cutting down on the number of medical treatment permits it issues to Paleostinians in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip, fearing that they are being abused to move illegally to the West Bank, state prosecutors reportedly told the High Court of Justice this week.

Prosecutors disclosed the efforts on Wednesday in a response to a High Court of Justice petition filed by Arab human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
groups, the Haaretz daily reported.

According to the report, the prosecutors said cutting the number of permits issued was part of active steps to "halt the growth" of Paleostinians moving from Gaza to the West Bank without a permit from Israel. The response said that Israel regards them as "illegal aliens."

Prosecutors said that since 2017, there has been a sharp uptick in the number of Gazooks making the move.

As of mid-2018, 2,671 Gazooks were living in the West Bank without an Israeli permit. Just over half of them, 1,397, were granted a permit to leave Gaza for medical reasons but never returned.

The number is a sharp increase from previous years; in 2016, the total number of Gazooks who left the Strip for medical treatment and never returned was 262.

Israel says entire Gaza families are illegally moving to the West Bank chain-migration style. After one family member is granted an exit permit for medical purposes, other relatives then begin applying for permits to enter Israel to visit the sick person, and never return.

As a result, Israel has been cracking down on the number of medical permits it issues Gazooks, citing fears the applicants, even those seeking medical care, will never return home.

According to Gaza-based Al Mezan, along with Physicians for Human Rights-Israel, many applicants whose relatives were illegally residing in the West Bank were denied permits outright. In some cases, patients were told they would be given a permit to enter Israel only if their relatives returned to Gaza.

The organizations petitioned the High Court in a bid to outlaw conditioning medical treatment on concerns the patients won’t return or the migration status of their relatives.

The court rejected the petition on the grounds that no such criteria for entry permits officially exist, according to the state.

The admission from state prosecutors comes less than a month after a senior Israeli official said the government was actively promoting the emigration of Paleostinians from the Gaza Strip, and was working to find other countries who may be willing to absorb them.

The official said Israel was ready to absorb the cost of helping Gazooks emigrate, and would even be willing to consider allowing them to use air fields inside Israel to facilitate their departure.

The Paleostinian Authority’s foreign ministry slammed the official’s remarks as "extremely dangerous" and accused Israel of "targeting Paleostinians and Gaza’s livelihoods, and squeezing them in order to motivate them to emigrate."

Hamas-controlled Gaza suffers from severely inadequate supplies of water and electricity, ailing health services, widespread poverty and a high unemployment rate.

Fifty-three percent of Paleostinians in Gaza live in poverty, according to a June 2018 United Nations

Iran to arrest actress for supporting ‘blue girl’ who set herself on fire
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A judge is issuing a warrant for the arrest of an Iranian actress for showing support toward a female fan who set herself on fire after she was denied access to a football stadium, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.

Saba Kamali had written a post on Instagram in which she said that Sahar Khodayari had suffered much worse treatment than Imam Hussain ibn Ali, one of the grandsons of the Prophet Mohammad.

Kamali has since removed the Instagram post, posting another message in which she said she believes "that no one can tarnish the special status of the Imams."

In another follow-up post, Kamali said her post was misunderstood by people who had "skewed understanding, illiteracy and who were being fanatical."

"They do not know the basics of playwriting which is my first field of study," she wrote.

Khodayari died on Monday from injuries received after self-immolating on September 1 outside the public prosecutor’s office. She had been told she would receive a six-month prison sentence after being detained by police on March 12, 2019, accused of trying to enter Tehran’s Azadi Stadium to watch a football game.

FC Esteghlal’s twitter account confirmed her death. Khodayari was a supporter of the club and became known as the "Blue Girl" because Esteghlal wear blue jerseys.

U.S. imposes sanctions on North Korean hacking groups blamed for global attacks
[REUTERS] The U.S. Treasury on Friday announced sanctions on three North Korea
...hereditary Communist monarchy distinguished by its truculence and periodic acts of violence. Distinguishing features include Songun (Army First) policy, which involves feeding the army before anyone but the Dear Leadership, and Juche, which is Kim Jong Il's personal interpretation of Marxism-Leninism, which he told everybody was brilliant. In 1950 the industrialized North invaded agrarian South Korea. Twenty-one countries of the United Nations eventually contributed to the UN force opposing the invasion, with the United States providing around 90% of the military personnel. Seventy years later the economic results are in and it doesn't look good for Juche...
n hacking groups it said were involved in the "WannaCry" ransomware attacks and hacking of international banks and customer accounts.

It named the groups as Lazarus Group, Bluenoroff, and Andariel and said they were controlled by the RGB, North Korea’s primary intelligence bureau, which is already subject to U.S. and United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
sanctions.

The action blocks any U.S.-related assets of the groups and prohibits dealings with them. The Treasury statement said any foreign financial institution that knowingly facilitated significant transactions or services for them could also be subject to sanctions.

"Treasury is taking action against North Korean hacking groups that have been perpetrating cyber attacks to support illicit weapon and missile programs," said Sigal Mandelker, Treasury under secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.

"We will continue to enforce existing U.S. and U.N. sanctions against North Korea and work with the international community to improve cybersecurity of financial networks."

The United States has been attempting to restart talks with North Korea, aimed at pressing the country to give up its nuclear weapons. The talks have been stalled over North Korean demands for concessions, including sanctions relief.

) fighters were killed in the operation, according to Sabah al-Numaan, a spokesperson for the Iraqi Counter Terrorism Service (CTS).

Al-Numaan told Insider that US aircraft hit 37 targets, "trenches and caves," on the island ISIS fighters were using as a stopoff on the way into Iraq from Syria. The island, which has thick vegetation, was "like a hotel for ISIS," Lt. Gen. Abdul Wahab al-Saadi, commander of the Iraqi CTS told Insider, using the Arabic acronym for ISIS.

Lt. Gen. al-Saadi's team made a sweep of the island after it was partially destroyed by US strikes. He told Insider that his team found rocket-propelled grenade launchers (RPGs), several rockets, and improvised bombs (IEDs). A spokesperson for Operation Inherent Resolve confirmed on September 10 that a weapons cache was found on the island after the air strike.

Lt. Gen. al-Saadi said that US drones had provided surveillance data for the secret operation, and that there were no civilians on the island.

One of the reasons the island was an ideal hideout for ISIS gunnies on the move was the absence of Iraqi troops nearby, Lt. Gen. al-Saadi said. According to a Pentagon Inspector General report on Operation Inherent Resolve, the US operation in Iraq, Iraqi security forces on the whole don't have the infrastructure to consistently counter ISIS.

ISIS has ramped up its presence in Iraq and Syria since the US drew down troop presence in Syria and decreased its diplomatic presence in Iraq. Although President Donald Trump

proclaimed that ISIS's caliphate was completely defeated at a July cabinet meeting, there are still an estimated 14,000 to 18,000 ISIS fighters. Combatants in Iraq and Syria continue to carry out suicide kabooms, crop burnings, and liquidations.

Kiir, Hamdok agree to resume discussions on Sudans’ border crossings
[Sudan Tribune] Sudan and South Sudan have agreed to resume discussions on the opening of the border crossing points between the two countries.

Sudanese Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok was in a two-day visit to Juba for talks with South Sudanese officials on ways to enhance bilateral relations and to move together for a settlement to the pending issues after the secession of 2011.

"We discussed bilateral relations including border and trade and we reached useful understandings that will push the distinguished relations forwards," Hamdok told news hounds in joint press statements with Kiir at the State House before to leave Juba on Friday.

The Sudanese prime minister said he wants to repair the damage caused by the former regime and restore the ancestral relations between people on the border from both sides as the first step towards the resolution of the disputed border zones and Abyei.

"We touched relations between the two countries and what we will do in the future said," President Kiir said.

"Regarding the opening of border crossing points we will work on it in the near future," he added before to conclude by saying "God willing peace will prevail in Sudan and South Sudan".

The South Sudanese leader pointed to the Juba Declaration for peace in Sudan signed by the Sudanese government and the gangs he would strive to ensure a successful peace in Sudan.

Hamdok said he said he had met with the leaders of the gangs and expressed hope that the Juba process would lead to lasting peace in his country.

Kiir repeated several times that he wants peace in Sudan for the stability of his country, pointing that the conflict with rebel groups in the border areas contributed to destabilize his country.

Sudan and South Sudan in 2013 had agreed to open 10 crossings along their joint 2,000 km border to boost travel and trade.

But the continuation of armed conflicts in South Kordofan and Blue Nile states and the civil war in South Sudan prevented the implementation of concrete steps to activate the demilitarized zone and define the crossings.

In March 2018, the two countries marked several crossing corridors, but the continuation of the South Sudanese conflict and continuation of suspicions of support to gangs from both sides remained the main cause behind the border closure for free trade and movement of people.

Roadside bomb kills at least 4, injures 13 in Diyarbakir province: official
[Rudaw] An improvised bomb (IED) detonated by a roadside killed at least four villagers and injured 13 others in the Kurdish province of Diyarbakir (Amed) in southeast The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
on Thursday night, according to the provincial governor’s office.

A statement from the governor’s office blamed the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) for the incident.

"A vehicle carrying our villagers from the rural district of Kulp in our province - who had gone out to collect wood - was subjected to a hand-made bomb by the separatist terrorist organization [of the PKK] at 18:00 [Thursday], resulting in the martyrdom of four villagers and the heavy injury of 13 others," read a statement from the office of Diyarbakir governor Hasan Basri.

The PKK has yet to claim or deny responsibility for the earth-shattering kaboom.

However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
PKK-affiliated media outlet ANF put the blast’s corpse count at seven.

Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First

In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
called the governor, who briefed the President about the earth-shattering kaboom.

Blaming the PKK, Erdogan said that "all capacity" of the security forces will be used to catch the perpetrators, according to a statement from the Presidency .

Ottoman Turkish forces are currently conducting two wide-scale operations against the PKK: stage three of Operation Claw in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and Operation Kiran within its borders.

The PKK has said repeatedly that it does not target civilians, but Ottoman Turkish security forces and their accomplices.

The incident comes amid a recent clampdown against the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), which Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) claims is the political wing of the PKK.

Afghanistan
Afghan election back in spotlight after Trump's Taliban tweets
[DAWN] Afghans are bracing for fresh violence after United States President Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...

...mindless ferocity in a turban...
talks, yanking this month's presidential election back into the spotlight as the murderous Moslems look to keep voters from the polls with bloody attacks.

For months now a question mark has hung over the September 28 vote, in which Afghanistan's Caped President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. , as America prioritised securing a deal with the holy warriors that would allow it to begin exiting its longest war.

With the agreement seemingly imminent ‐ and the US-backed government in Kabul undermined as rumours swirled of an interim regime ‐ many Afghans and observers had expected the poll to be cancelled outright.

Even the more-than-a-dozen candidates ‐ who include former warlords, ex-spies and onetime members of the country's communist regime ‐ did not appear to believe it would take place, with little in the way of campaigning.

As the incumbent, Ghani is presumed to be the favourite, though with the lack of campaigning or credible polling observers cautioned against making any predictions. But with Trump's bombshell announcement on Saturday that the US-Taliban talks were off, the situation changed.

The Taliban quickly made it known that the only alternative was more fighting ‐ and with renewed focus on the election, which they have always opposed, the polls are a prime target, as they seek to delegitimise any resulting government by minimising turnout.

"The Taliban will do everything possible to disrupt the election, we expect more violence," Haroun Mir, an independent analyst based in Kabul, told AFP.

Abdul Waheed Wafa, the executive director of the Afghanistan Centre at Kabul University, described a mood of confusion and fear. "Nobody at the moment is ready, not the people of Afghanistan, not the election commission and not even the government," he said.

Britain
Opposition accuses Johnson of lying to Queen over Brexit
[DAWN] British Prime Minister Boris Johnson
...pro-Brexit British prime minister, succeeding no-Brexit Theresa May. BoJo is noted as much for his sparkling personality and his hair as for his Conservative policies....
denied on Thursday that he had lied to Queen Elizabeth over the reasons for suspending the British parliament after a court ruled his decision was unlawful and opponents called for politicians to be recalled to discuss Brexit.

Since Johnson won the top job in July, Britannia’s Brexit crisis has spun more furiously, leaving investors and allies bewildered by an array of decisions that have pushed the once stable political system to its limits.

Parliament was prorogued, or suspended, on Monday until Oct 14, a move Johnson’s opponents said was designed to thwart their attempts to scrutinise his plans for leaving the Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an Union and to allow him to push through Brexit on Oct 31, with or without an exit deal to smooth the way.

Scotland’s highest court of appeal ruled on Wednesday that the suspension was not lawful and was intended to stymie politicians, prompting opponents to question whether Johnson had lied to Elizabeth, who must formally order the prorogation.

"Absolutely not," Johnson said when asked by a TV news hound if he had misled the queen, who is the world’s longest reigning monarch and is widely respected for more than 67 years of dedicated service during which she has stayed above the fray of politics.

Johnson said the current session of parliament was longer than any since the English civil war in the 17th century, adding that politicians would have plenty of time to again discuss Brexit after an EU summit on Oct 17 and 18.

He says parliament was suspended to allow the government to present its legislative programme.

Pakistan wants US-Taliban talks resumed
[DAWN] Pakistain has expressed the hope that the US-Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
talks, which were abruptly suspended over the weekend, would soon resume and open the way towards intra-Afghan negotiations that would lead to a peaceful settlement of the long-drawn conflict in Afghanistan.

"We hope that the suspension of peace talks is only a pause and will resume sooner rather than later as the alternative is a surge in violence, which could push Afghanistan into an even more turbulent and uncertain phase than has been witnessed so far," Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi told the UN Security Council, while assuring of Pakistain’s role as a controller of the Afghan grinding of the peace processor.

Participating in a debate on the situation in Afghanistan, she said Pakistain had always condemned violence and called for all sides to exercise restraint and to remain committed to the grinding of the peace processor out of its belief that there was no military solution to the Afghan conflict.

The Pak envoy said that nine rounds of direct talks between the United States and the Taliban had brightened prospects to put in place the first significant foundation of a settlement, raising hope that the parties appeared closer to that goal than at any other time in the past 18 years.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
‘War in Syria has come to an end’: Russian FM
[ALMASDARNEWS] Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov believes that the war in Syria has come to an end and stressed the need to promote a long-lasting settlement of the crisis in the Arab Republic and the Middle East region as a whole .

"The war in Syria has really come to an end. The country is gradually returning to a normal, peaceful life. Some hotspots of tensions remain in the territories that are not controlled by the Syrian government, such as Idlib and the eastern bank of the Euphrates", Lavrov said in an interview with the newspaper Trud.

The minister thinks that the most important goals regarding Syria now are providing humanitarian aid for civilians and "promoting the political process on settling the crisis to achieve stable and long-lasting stabilisation of the situation in the country and the whole Middle East region".

Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Syrian opposition was playing an important role in the Syrian settlement.

"We believe the formation and launch of the committee designed to develop the constitutional reform will be an important step in advancing the political process led and carried out by the Syrians themselves with the UN’s assistance", Lavrov said in an interview with the newspaper Trud. "In fact, convening it will enable the Syrian sides ‐ the government and the opposition ‐ to begin for the first time a direct dialogue on their country’s future", he said.

This is the third article about the executive order President Trump signed on Tuesday (see here and here), and ties the details together with a pretty bow.
[PJMedia] Donald Trump signed a new executive order that would target terrorist leaders without having to tie them to specific acts. The significance is that foreign financial institutions that profit handsomely by moving and hiding terrorist money have been put on notice that the U.S. is watching.

The Hill:

The executive order amends a previous directive to allow the State and Treasury Departments to directly target leaders of terrorist groups and associated entities without having to tie them to specific acts, Pompeo said.

He also said it “more effectively and efficiently targets individuals and entities who participate in terrorist training, and provides new authorities to impose sanctions on foreign financial institutions that knowingly do business with terrorists.”

Mnuchin said the executive order “greatly enhances our ability to identify, sanction and deter perpetrators of terrorism worldwide.”

In conjunction with the announcement, the Treasury Department sanctioned more than a dozen leaders, individuals and entities affiliated with designated terror groups, including those affiliated with ISIS and Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps Qods Force. The State Department also announced 12 new terrorist designations on Tuesday.

The announcement came on the eve of the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Pompeo called the measure the “most significant update” to counterterrorism authorities in 18 years.

This executive order will hit the terrorists where it hurts: the networks that finance their acts.

Wall Street Journal:

“These new authorities will allow the U.S. government to starve terrorists of resources they need to attack the United States and our allies, and will hold foreign financial institutions who continue to do business with them accountable,” Mr. Mnuchin said.

Many of the targets of Tuesday’s sanctions are companies that exchange one currency for another as part of an alleged attempt to hide the intended source and intended terror-financing recipients. Those exchange houses, U.S. officials and terror experts say, are key conduits for financing Hezbollah, Hamas, the IRGC and other groups.

Under the new powers, any foreign financial institution that is found to have conducted terror-linked transactions risks losing access to the dollar and the world’s most important financial system, a sanction that has often spelled the end of financial institutions.

Many of the targets also have operations in Turkey, highlighting a major concern among U.S. officials that lax financial and corporate oversight by the government in Ankara has allowed terror financing and evasion of sanctions to proliferate in the country. The Turkish Embassy in Washington didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

The order is referred to as a "modernization" of our counter-terrorism efforts. That much is true. Before 9/11, we didn't have the ability to identify and track these networks. But thanks to numerous agreements -- both international and bilateral -- the international financial system can now take action.

It's just one more indication that 18 years after 9/11, the fight goes on with no end in sight.

#1  the fight goes on with no end in sight

I see it more as "the fight was prolonged because one side chose maximum inefficiency". In his 1993 book Place Among the Nations Bibi pointed out that terrorist networks can only be (given the nature of Pseudohomo Islamicus) destroyed by stopping the money flows. I would add exterminating the Saudi "royal family."

Francis Beto O’Rourke Goes Off on Gun Control at Debate: ‘Hell Yes, We’re Going to Take Your AR-15, Your AK-47!’
[MEDIAITE] 2020 presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke;
...Kennedyeque businessman, musician, skateboard artiste, and politician who represented Texas' 16th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives from 2013 to 2019. Beto is a Latino nickname for people whose names end in "erto," like "Roberto" or "Alberto." He is seeking the Dem nomination for President in 2020 because he has nice hair and lots of teeth. He was born into a local political family in El Paso, Texas and is a graduate of a prep school and Columbia University, which is not in Texas. In 2005, he was elected to the El Paso City Council. He was elected to Congress in 2012 after defeating eight-term incumbent Silvestre Reyes in the Democratic primary. He declined to seek re-election in 2018, instead running for the Senate against Republican Ted Cruz, running a campaign that drew national attention because of his skateboarding skills. A few months after he lost, he announced his campaign for President...
broadly endorsed taking certain guns away from Americans, specifically naming AR-15s and AK-47s as weapons that shouldn’t be allowed.

Beto was asked if he supported confiscating guns, which he said he did, qualifying “if it’s a weapon that was designed to kill people on a battlefield.”

“If the high-impact, high-velocity round, when it hits your body, shreds everything inside of your body because it was designed to do that so you would bleed to death on a battlefield and not be able to get up and kill one of our soldiers,” he said.

O’Rourke then shared a harrowing story about the shooting in Odessa.

“I met the mother of a 15-year-old girl who was shot by an AR-15 and that mother watched her bleed to death over the course of an hour because so many other people were shot by that AR-15 in Odessa, there weren’t enough ambulances to get to them in time,” she said.

“Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47!” O’Rourke said. “We’re not going to allow it to be used against a fellow American anymore.”

Before moderators moved on, O’Rourke also stressed his plan was supported by Americans he met in red states.

“Folks who said, I would give that up, cut it to pieces, I don’t need this weapon to hunt, to defend myself. It is a weapon of war, so, let’s do the right thing, but let’s bring everyone in America into the conversation,” he said.

Husband and wife in viral Disneyland brawl are no-shows at court
Follow up to this story in July.
[NYPOST] A classy husband and wife who starred in viral family brawl footage from Disneyland back in July were no-shows at their recent arraignment, the Orange County Register reported.

Andrea Nicole Robinson, 40, and hubby Daman Petrie, 44, missed their Monday, Sept. 9 arraignment on misdemeanor assault and battery counts, the paper said.

Robinson’s brother Avery Desmond-Edwinn Robinson, 35, is due in court on Sept. 30 on charges of domestic battery and assault that carry a maximum seven-year prison term.

The three-way fisticuffs drew in several Disneyland guests and workers who tried to stop the violence.

Felicity Huffman wants to serve her sentence at one of ‘America’s cushiest prisons’
[PAGESIX] Felicity Huffman is hoping to avoid serving hard time.

Lawyers for Huffman, who reports to prison on Oct. 25, requested Friday that the actress spend her two weeks behind bars at a minimum-security women’s lockup in northern California dubbed one of the cushiest prisons in the country.

The Federal Correctional Institution Dublin houses 1,235 inmates and sits about 350 miles away from her Los Angeles home.

While it’s ultimately the decision of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, attorney Martin Murphy asked Judge Indira Talwani make the recommendation so the desperate inmate could see her family.

“It’s the closest to Ms. Huffman’s residence,” Murphy said inside the packed courtroom.

As a Dublin inmate, the “Desperate Housewives” star would have to trade her designer duds for the prison’s issued uniform: dowdy khaki clothing marked with her name and inmate number.

Huffman, 56, will have to make her bed each morning in time for a daily 6:30 a.m. inspection and it will be lights out at 10 p.m. daily, according to the inmate handbook.

Husband William H. Macy and her two daughters will be able to visit on Saturday and Sundays between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. but will not be able to bring any gifts.

“Visitors may bring a maximum of $35.00 per adult. Money can only be used for the vending machines in the Visiting Room and may not be given to the inmate,” the handbook states.

In 2009, Forbes named the big-house as one of America’s “10 cushiest prisons” — citing the facilities gorgeous bay area weather.

The prison was formerly home to Heidi Fleiss — the “Hollywood Madam” who ran an upscale prostitution ring in Los Angeles — and Sarah Jane Moore, the woman who attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford.

That is, force them to contribute time or money or both to public service which run counter to their fashionable causes. A few possible examples:

- require Ms. Felicity to fly to an Appalachian town every weekend and work as a dental assistant guveibg free dental care to underserved rural communities.

- require the make perps to do community service teaching first-time young male offenders some basic mechanical task - how to change an auto filter, or hang sheetrock. Or just how to boil an egg or roast a chicken without burning it.

- require both male and female perps to go to sunbelt low-income communities during summer months and a install new roofs, or go to similarly needy frost belt communities in winter months and help convert houses to natural gas.

A world of possibilities.

Europe
Paris, four other French cities ban use of pesticides
[DAWN] Paris and four other French cities on Thursday banned the use of synthetic pesticides within their boundaries, as an anti-chemicals movement that began in the countryside gained momentum.

Lille in the north, Nantes in the west, Grenoble in the southeast and the central city of Clermont-Ferrand joined Paris in implementing the ban, citing the need to safeguard biodiversity and public health.

A 2017 law already bans the use of synthetic pesticides in public parks and spaces. And since January, home gardeners countrywide have also been banned from using synthetic pesticides. They may use only those made with natural ingredients.

The few urban areas not included by the bans include green spaces managed by private property owners, such as in apartment blocks, or by companies such as state rail operator SNCF which use the controversial weed killer glyphosate on train tracks.

Environment Minister Elisabeth Borne slammed Thursday’s announcement by the five cities — all of which are run by left-wing or Green opposition parties — as a “publicity stunt”.

President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist government has proposed banning the use of pesticides to within 5-10 metres of residential areas — a proposal criticised by environmentalists as not going far enough.

The head of the Greens group in Lille city council, Stephane Baly, said the cities’ aim was “to make the government cave in”.

Dozens of small towns and villages, where houses abut fields, have already issued decrees cracking down on the use of chemical sprays.

The movement began in earnest in May 2018 in the Brittany village of Langouet where a mayor banned the use of pesticides within 150 metres of a home or business. A court later invalidated the ban, ruling that only the state has the power to ban pesticides for public health reasons.

But Mayor Daniel Cueff had by then already won legions of admirers, with villages and towns, from the Normandy town of Val-de-Reuil to the wealthy Paris suburb of Sceaux, following suit.

The bans reflect the growing concern among French citizens, particularly in rural areas, over the continued use of the weed-killing chemical glyphosate, found in herbicides such as Monsanto’s Roundup.

France is one of the EU’s heaviest users of the herbicide, which is widely used by farmers to spray crops even though the World Health Organisation has described it as “probably carcinogenic”, a finding disputed by Monsanto.

The impact of chemical pollution has slowly gone up the political agenda in France as voters grow increasingly concerned about environmental degradation and climate change.

Iraq
Parliament to discuss removal of U.S. forces from Iraq in new session
[Iraq News] The Iraqi parliament will discuss the removal of U.S. troops from Iraq during its next legislative session, a member was quoted saying on Friday.

Badr al-Ziyadi, a member of the parliament’s security and defense committee, told Almaalomah website that “the earliest meetings during the next session will give priority for a bill on getting out U.S. troops out of Iraq, as well as terminating the 2008 security agreement between Baghdad and Washington.

The Iraqi parliament ended its last legislative session in August 4th. The next session is due to start next Saturday.

The U.S. maintains nearly 5000 troops in Iraq as part of an international coalition that fought Islamic State extremists since their emergence in 2014 and until their defeat in an Iraqi, coalition-backed, security campaign late 2017.

The 2008 agreement had set the stage for U.S. troop withdrawal from Iraq in 2011. It regulates military, economic, cultural and social relations between both countries, after eight years that followed the U.S. invasion to topple late leader Saddam Hussein.

hideout in the north of Kabul in six-hours-long operation on Thursday evening, the agency said in a statement on Friday.

The information about the center was taken from a three-member ISIS group who were arrested by the NDS forces this week, the statement said.

Two ISIS members, who were hiding in a house in Sar-e-Kotal area in Kabul’s Police District 17, PD17, were killed in the operation, the statement said, adding that one of them was a Pak national.

One woman and four children, who were living in the house, were maimed in the operation but are under treatment in a hospital, the statement added.

The house, which was rented by the two ISIS members, was rented where the suspects were planning terrorist attacks in Kabul and were making boom jackets, according to the statement.

Local residents said the house was rented by the two suspects two months ago.

The statement said that a large number of weapons was seized during the operation.

Sources said that at least five members of the Afghan forces were killed and maimed in the operation.
Khaama Press adds:
The National Directorate of Security said in a statement that the NDS special Forces conducted the raid in the 17th district of the city after receiving information from 3 dangerous members of the group, whom the NDS forces arrested a day earlier.

The statement further added that the NDS Special Forces killed Mohammad Haneef, one of the planners and organizers of the terror group and a Pak jacket wallah.

Furthermore, the National Directorate of Security said a Pak woman who was living in the compound with her 4 children also sustained injuries during the operation.

The National Directorate of Security said the NDS Special Forces confiscated 3 Ak-47 assault rifles, 26 magazines of Ak-47 rifles, a shot gun, 7 hand grenades and 3 military uniforms.

Europe
Poll: In a Russia-US conflict, overwhelming number of Europeans favor neutrality over America, with 5-9% openly siding with Russia
[Stripes] STUTTGART, Germany ‐ A vast majority of Europeans would want to remain neutral in the event of a conflict between the U.S. and Russia, but two NATO members lean more toward supporting Moscow than their fellow alliance member, a new opinion poll shows.
We should get out of NATO and Europe in any event. They're no help in fighting Russians which I don't want to do anyway. And I sure don't want to fight for France again much less Latvia et al.
A survey conducted by the European Council on Foreign Relations asked Europeans in 14 EU member states for their views on issues ranging from trade and climate change to military investment. When people were asked who their country should side with in the event of conflict between the U.S. and Russia, majorities in all but one country said it would be best to not pick sides.
I love when Europeans deride our military budget and how they would use that budget for social causes. It must be nice to not spend a dime on defense, knowing that the most powerful military in the history of the world is ready to defend you at a moment's notice.
Poland was the only country where a minority ‐ 45% ‐ said they would choose to remain neutral in a hypothetical conflict between the U.S. and Russia. A third of Poles said they would back the U.S. while only 6% said they would support Russia.

Greece and Slovakia strongly favored neutrality ‐ 81% and 65% respectively ‐ but, despite both countries being members of NATO, those polled also showed higher support for Russia than the U.S.

In Slovakia, 20% said they would side with Moscow in a conflict, compared to 6% for the United States. In Greece, support for Russia was only slightly higher than for the U.S. ‐ 7% compared to 5%.

In Germany, which is home to roughly 30,000 U.S. troops, 70% of those polled favored neutrality while 12% supported the U.S. and 7% Russia.

The findings were similar when it came to a potential conflict between the U.S. and China, with Europeans favoring neutrality by wide margins.
NATO should have ended when the Warsaw Pact dissolved. The USA should have demobilized after the Soviet Union collapsed also. But Eisenhower's prophecy about the military industrial complex proved to be accurate.

#1  In reality... what could they do?

Most don't have a military worth speaking of. Most don't want to have a war on their soil.

These are countries whose populations have historically strong ties to Russia. The Greeks are fellow Orthodox Christians, while the Slovaks are fellow Slavs (though mostly Catholic). Given those circumstances, the feelings of the common people are understandable, even if their governments are bound by treaties.

Russia is not a mortal threat to us. A nuisance but also a otenti partner, if treated properly, of great value.

#17  Poland was the only country where a minority ‐ 45% ‐ said they would choose to remain neutral in a hypothetical conflict between the U.S. and Russia. A third of Poles said they would back the U.S. while only 6% said they would support Russia.

45+33+6=84. So what are the other 16% saying?
Posted by: charger || 09/14/2019 13:18 Comments || Top||

#18  ~16% of any population are either shut-ins or inmates or so completely alienated that they neither participate in society nor have any opinion on any public issue.

Another 25% of the population is either cognitively challenged or mentally / emotionally unstable or both.

For example, surveys of Germans during the aughts indicated that about one-third of younger Germans believe(d) that on 9/11 the Pentagon bombed the Pentagon. ONE-THIRD of the population in one of the most sophisticated societies on the planet.

Bottom line: only a little more than half at most of any large heterogeneous population actually have any clue as to what the hell theyre talking about when it comes to issues of national concern.

#22  Total BS. What Russia-US conflict? Alaska? Mutual nuclear destruction?

People don't like war and prefer to stay out of it.

And as the byline comment states: "And I sure don't want to fight for France again much less Latvia et al."

So what's different?

It won't matter what people prefer: If Russia invades Poland there will be war. The point of NATO always was to deter Russia (or the USSR) from invading the West.

#23  It's that Europe is ruthlessly free riding on American security guarantees. And while doing so, can't even bring themselves to be on our side even when there's a conflict with the very adversary we're supposed to be protecting them from.

Trump told Europe in no uncertain terms, pay your fair share of NATO. They flat out refused. No, we're not going to do it and you can't make us.

NATO is a military alliance. To be in a military alliance, you have to have a military. If Europe refuses to defend itself and won't even side with us, why are we pledged to defend European territory to the death?

#24  There may be another reason for this journalistic effort by the globalist ECFR think tank. It has probably not so much to do with America as with the most anti-Russian nation leaving the Eww. After brexit, US-UK relations should improve and the UK may show more benefit in the near future than it could all this while with the globalists.

There is an increasing chance that a void left by a United Kingdom in the Eww be filled by others and some trade will shift eastward. There is a marked thaw in German-Russian relations in the past few years. Trump refused to let McCarthyists push him into a pissing contest with Vlad and the EU took note of Vlad's resource with the US. Even if because of the idiot hoax Marine Le Pen's party had received a € 9 million loan from a russkie bank some time back, to the chagrin of all Gay Pareé. Recently Vlad concluded 2+2 talks with France. Russia is also the top oil and gas exporter to the Eww I think.

The word 'Eurasian' is increasingly being used in trade negotiations again. India and Japan have direct continental and oceanic interests with the Eww. China too has gained a more open understanding with Eww and it's regulations regime The cheques are clearing at brussels. They have become their second largest trading partner.

It's no wonder these new dynamics are being bet upon and anticipated before brexit. But to build the base for introducing hitherto unmentionable trade alliances for the average schlemiel, these articles must be presented as 'poll data reveals', and 'did you know ? Russia is not all bad' routines.

I don't think security or defence spending has anything to do with this 'study'. But that's just my twisted theory.

#27  What would a similar poll taken in the US show?

I was thinking the same thing: how many Americans when polled would want to stay neutral in a conflict between America and Russia? The response may shock (and dishearten) you.

‘Torpedo' - Israel's Spy Who Doesn't Know He's A Spy
[Jpost] Netflix released "The Spy" and gave the world a glimpse at the complex nature of Israeli intelligence missions. Like "The Spy," the case of "Torpedo," is real, but seems Hollywood-like in nature. There are two major differences between Eli Cohen and Torpedo. The first is that Torpedo is still spying for Israel. The second is that Cohen received extensive training for his mission, whereas Torpedo doesn't even know he's a spy.

Israeli daily, Yediot Aharonot, reported a sample of the story on Thursday, and is expected to release the rest over the weekend.

Torpedo is a bigwig in an Arab country who doesn't know that Israeli Intelligence Division's 504 unit has recruited him as a spy. The unit revealed this information in a rare moment of transparency.

The spy thinks he works in a civilian capacity, and has unknowingly been transmitting information to Israel for the last five years.

"We are always aiming for sources of high intelligence, in very significant roles. It inevitably raises the level of difficulty, because anyone who has reached a senior position is already older, more experienced, alert and more suspicious," the lieutenant colonel who serves as a commander in 504 and oversees the Torpedo file, told Yediot Aharonot. Due to the secret nature of his job, the Lt. Col. was only identified by the first letter of his name in Hebrew, Ayin.

The challenge was not only getting to someone as senior as Torpedo, but also making him divulge information.

"As a civilian body, for example, you are not threatening the target and not scaring him," D., Torpedo's handler in 504 told Yediot Aharonot.

"While collecting information about Torpedo, I discovered that he had an acquaintance, a distant relative, who lives abroad and had previously been in a particular field. I made contact with the same acquaintance online and began to take an interest in him and topics he specializes in and considered competent. He was happy to cooperate," D. continued. "I don't mention [Torpedo], not even with a hint. Then the acquaintance - who is already very interested in working with us - brings up Torpedo's name. He tells me about his relative who is senior in that country. He explains to me that because of his status, he is very close to all parties, very connected. I agree with him that I will think about the ideas that came up in our communication and that I will come back to with an answer here or there. My goal here is to convey to him that I'm not eager, not in a rush. I want to create an expectation for him. That he should check his email every day, waiting for my answer. Then comes the initial contact phase."

That's where Torpedo's story ends...for now. More will be released over the weekend.

Israel is still using Torpedo as an information source.

JPP slams beheading of Pakistani prisoner in S. Arabia
[DAWN] The Justice Project Pakistain (JPP) denounced the beheading of yet another Pak citizen, Mohammad Imran, in Shumaisi prison of Jeddah on Thursday.

A labourer from Chichawatni, Imran, travelled to Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
in August 2011 for employment and was detained upon his arrival at the airport in Jeddah. He was implicated in drug-related charges and was sentenced to death without access to meaningful legal representation. The entire trial was conducted in Arabic, a language he did not understand, with no translator.

According to the JPP, there are close to 11,000 Paks languishing in foreign jails, with over 7,000 of them in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia alone has 3,400 Pak prisoners and has executed at least 26 of them this year, including a woman.

Families of prisoners on death row are often not notified prior to their execution, depriving family members and loved ones of the chance of a final goodbye. The bodies of those executed are also not returned ‐ which is a gross violation of all legal and moral protocols, and Islamic injunctions.

Imran’s family has requested the Saudi government to change this inhumane precedent and return his body so that they could perform his last rites, the JPP said.

The JPP highlighted that a prisoner transfer agreement between Pakistain and Saudi Arabia had failed to materialise despite Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman promising the release of 2,107 Pak prisoners during his visit to Islamabad in February this year.
