Next one out? Booker memo warns he may not be in 2020 race 'much longer'
[NBC} Shartacus: "Oh noes! Hold me T-Bone!" Sen. Cory Booker must raise nearly $2 million in the next 10 days or the presidential candidate has no "legitimate long-term path forward," according to a memo to staff from the campaign manager obtained by NBC News.

The struggling candidate's campaign manager, Addisu Demissie, warned that after weaker-than-expected fundraising in the early part of September, the campaign needs to rake in another $1.7 million before the last day of the financial quarter on Sept. 30.

"Without a fundraising surge to close out this quarter, we do not see a legitimate long-term path forward," Demissie wrote in the Saturday memo to staff and supporters. "The next 10 days will determine whether Cory Booker can stay in this race."

Mercer dares to speak the truth: 'Why conservatives ignore white-hating politics'
[WND] In "It's Not 'Identity Politics,' It's Anti-White Politics," I questioned whether the term "identity politics" vaguely comports with our racial politics on terra firma. The answer was a resounding "no."

For, "Whatever is convulsing the country, it's not identity politics. Blacks are not being pitted against Hispanics. Hispanics are not being sicced on Asians, and Ameri-Indians aren't being urged to attack the groups just mentioned. Rather, they're all piling on honky."

Since the ire of America's multicultural multitudes is directed exclusively at whites and their putative privilege, not at each other, anti-white animus is the more appropriate term.

The "identity politics" term is an elaborate construct hot-housed in the postmodernist university. Yet, commentators, conservatives too, cleave to abstracted definitions developed in citadels far removed from reality. Duly, the author of "Why Identity Politics Kills Democracy" harps on the "political selfishness" that comes with a "fanatical fetishization" of "group identity."

"A politics of whiteness is a scourge. A Hispanic politics is a scourge. An LGBT politics is a scourge. A plutocratic politics is a scourge. A feminist politics is a scourge." The only "true politics," bewails our author, is one that "unites individuals under a single identity: citizen."

#1  We've reached the opportunist phase.

That's when people who smell an opportunity climb the ladder by undercutting a more powerful white man start whispering outright lies and smears in the ears of the justice warriors, who then do the dirty work of bringing him down.

This is playing out behind the scenes now across thousands of corporate offices, entertainment companies, newsrooms and TV stations, and university faculties.

13 Marines charged in human smuggling case
[FOX] Thirteen Marines have been formally charged with playing a role in the smuggling of undocumented immigrants into the U.S., the Marine Corps announced Friday.

In addition to the smuggling charges, the Marines will face military court proceedings for charges including failure to obey an order, drunkenness, endangerment, larceny and perjury, according to a statement from the 1st Marine Division Press Office.

Two of the Marines were specifically named -- Lance Cpls. Byron Law and David Salazar-Quintero -- but the other names were withheld. These two have also been charged federally with transporting and conspiring to transport illegal immigrants into the country for financial gain. Both were based at Camp Pendleton, in California.

#5  Once again my Comedic Theory of History is vindicated. The basic concept is that the most outrageous comedies of past years' become Solemn Standard Operating Procedure as time passes.

Consider Groucho's opening song in Duck Soup, 'No one's allowed to smoke, or tell a dirty joke, and whistling is prohibited...' Actually whistling is obsolete, but 2 out of 3 remain valid.

Consider Blazing Saddles wherein the new sheriff takes himself hostage. Known better in modern times as the low speed OJ chase when one of the largest metro areas on earth was brought to a stand still for, well, let's just say far less comic effect.

Of course 'Animal House' gave us abundant fodder for modern life. Probably the most common is the now famous 'Animal House Defense', a nearly incomprehensible line of reasoning that accuses the accusers and refuses to stand idly by while they conduct themselves in that fashion.

Now we have achieved a Blues Brothers re-enactor. Splendid. Of course whatever else may be known about his case he absolutely MUST be taken seriously. Old comedies may be the only reliable sage and source for what lies ahead.

Chinese Gov Employee Charged For Fraudulently Getting U.S. Visas For “Chinese Researchers”
[Sara Carter] WASHINGTON – The Department of Justice announced Tuesday the arrest of Zhongsan Liu. He was charged in a complaint for his involvement in a conspiracy to fraudulently obtain U.S. visas for Chinese government employees. Liu was arrested today in Fort Lee, New Jersey, and presented this afternoon in Manhattan federal court before the U.S. Magistrate Judge Ona T. Wang.

“We welcome foreign students and researchers, including from China, but we do not welcome visa fraud – especially on behalf of a government,” said Assistant Attorney General John C. Demers of National Security. “We will continue to confront Chinese government attempts to subvert American law to advance its own interests in diverting U.S. research and know-how to China.”

“As alleged Zhongsan Liu conspired to obtain research scholar visas fraudulently for people whose actual purpose was not research but recruitment,” said U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman. “Rather than helping to bring students to the U.S., Liu allegedly conspired to defraud this country’s visa system to advance his efforts to attract U.S. experts to China. Thanks to the FBI, this alleged abuse of the visa system has been halted.”

“Zhongsan Liu broke the law by seeking visas for employees of the government of The People’s Republic of China to enter the United States under false pretenses. Individuals obtained visas under the guise of research scholars, but in reality their assignment was to recruit top U.S. talent to benefit the government of China,” said Assistant Director John Brown of the FBI’s Counterintelligence Division. “The FBI recognizes the immense benefit of academic freedom in our open society, and we will investigate those who break our laws in an effort to take advantage of that freedom.”

“The allegation that an employee of a foreign government has worked to mask the true purpose of an individual’s presence in the United States isn’t news to the FBI,” said FBI Assistant Director William F. Sweeney Jr. “This alleged behavior should be another alarm bell that foreign governments are constantly working to exploit research work being conducted throughout the United States. Not everyone shares the honest goal of conducting open research to benefit society as a whole. This case is another example of the pervasive and organized effort, in this instance an allegedly flat-out illegal one, to fulfill a top priority of collecting information to advantage a foreign adversary. Putting a halt to Mr. Liu’s alleged actions are an important and significant step to highlighting these activities. The FBI New York, along with our intelligence community partners, will continue to disrupt the behavior when it is detected.”

Dems Veto Red Flag Law for Gangbangers
[American Thinker] If Democrats were serious about using red flag laws to keep guns out if the hands of people who might use them to senselessly murder others and therefore are danger to society, and not just as a gun-control tool to disarm law-abiding citizens, then why did they kill an attempt to use compiled lists of known gang members, which many police departments and law enforcement agencies possess? Why did they kill a measure to red flag gang members? And if Beto O’Rourke is going to come and take our guns, particularly our AR-15s, is he going to start on the south side of Chicago?

It's Time To Rein In Big Tech
Before Facebook there was FaceMash. Mark Zuckerberg founded FaceMash in his Harvard dorm room in 2003 and Facebook a year later. According to the Harvard Crimson, FaceMash used "photos compiled from the online facebooks of nine [Harvard] Houses, placing two next to each other at a time and asking users to choose the "hotter" person. Having gone viral (at least by 2003 standards), the Harvard authorities stepped in, shut FaceMash down and charged Zuckerberg with breach of security, violating copyright, and violating individual privacy. The charges were later dropped.

Mark Zuckerberg remains proud of his hacker roots to this day.

Even now, Facebook’s campus is located at One Hacker Way. Zuckerberg may not run from these hacker roots, but what of the data privacy and security charges Harvard levied against him? Well, it seems that not much has changed in this regard wither. In November 2018, Facebook revealed that it had exposed photos belonging to 6.8 million consumers to third party app developers without permission. The next month, The New York Times revealed that Facebook had continued to share troves of personal information with some of the world’s largest corporations long after it had sworn to cut off access to the data. These are but two recent examples of Facebook’s difficult relationship with user privacy.

Facebook is not alone among its peer companies, but it is the poster child for Big Tech’s attitude toward privacy. Eric Schmidt of Google has displayed equal disdain for privacy in his public remarks, once famously boasting "We know where you are. We know where you've been. We can more or less know what you're thinking about." Sit on that one for a minute.

Having taken a hands off approach for years, there is a growing consensus among lawmakers that Big Tech must be reined in. But how? Most lawmakers now recognize that the nation’s privacy laws need to be modernized. Efforts are currently underway in the Senate Commerce Committee to craft legislation that would create a ’one-size-fits-all’ federal privacy standard for businesses, large and small.

Beyond privacy, a smaller group of lawmakers is calling for the break-up of internet platforms under the antitrust laws. Last week, a precedent setting 48 states announced an investigation into Google and the week before a smaller group announced an investigation into Facebook. These investigations will take time, years even, and it may be challenging to build a case against Big Tech under current antitrust case law, but it’s a start.

Pregnant mom hacked to death in front of son at luxury South African resort
[The Sun] A pregnant young woman was hacked to death in her bed Tuesday during a family break at a luxury South African vacation resort.

Karen Turner, 31, who was three months pregnant, was sleeping with her husband, Matthew, 33, and their toddler son when they were attacked at about 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Matthew was stabbed repeatedly as he lay beside his wife at the Hluleka Nature Reserve in the Eastern Cape province of the country.

Two men armed with knives sneaked into their self-contained lodge overlooking the beach.

Karen, a primary school teacher from Underberg, South Africa, died almost instantly, while Matthew managed to fight back and survived after being flown to Pietermaritzburg, where he underwent surgery, according to police.

Karen’s unborn child was also killed in the frenzied attack. Her 23-month-old son, Hayden, survived and was uninjured.

It is unclear what the motive was for the horrific murder.

Zimbabwe's currency is collapsing
[Aljazeera] Harare, Zimbabwe - The Zimbabwean dollar is collapsing against the United States dollar on the country's black market, as confidence in the local currency hits rock bottom.
Newsweek April 6, 1976. How much time do we now have ?
The Zimbabwean dollar or Zimdollar encompasses the Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) dollar as well as bond notes and electronic money balances.

On Friday morning, it took 20 Zimdollars to buy one US dollar hard currency note on Harare's black market exchanges. Two weeks ago, around 10 Zimdollars bought one US dollar note on the black market.

The Zimdollar is also plummeting on Zimbabwe's managed interbank foreign currency market, which values the local currency more favourably. As of Friday, it took 14 Zimdollars to buy one US dollar at interbank exchange rates.

Some black market foreign exchange (forex) dealers believe the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe might be driving up the value of foreign currencies against the Zimdollar because the central bank needs foreign exchange to finance critical imports such as food and fuel.

Gregg Jarrett: It Appears the ‘Whistleblower' is Just an American Spy in Our Intel Agency Spying on President Trump
[Gateway Pundit] Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett said Friday in a Fox op-ed that the Deep State whistleblower who penned a complaint against Trump may not be a whistleblower at all ‐ it appears he is an American spy in our Intel Agency spying on President Trump.

This new Deep State hit began effervescing last week when House Intel Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) subpoenaed Acting DNI Joseph Maguire and accused him of illegally withholding a whistleblower complaint from Congress that could potentially be ’covering up the president’s misconduct’ over a phone call he had with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Gregg Jarrett questioned the Deep State snitch’s whistleblower status and suggested he may just be an American spy in our intel agency who is spying on our own President.

"To put this in plain language, a spy who allegedly spied on the president does not have a legitimate whistleblower complaint against that president under the law. The ICWPA is a mechanism to report alleged misconduct by members within the intelligence community, of which the president is not," Gregg Jarrett argued.

The identity of the Deep State ’whistleblower’ still has not been released to the public, however Trump revealed he is a ’highly partisan’ individual.

Gregg Jarrett pointed out the five following facts:

Abortion Doctor: Planned Parenthood Abortion Methods Induce ‘Live Birth'
[Free Beacon] Longtime abortion doctor Forrest Smith testified Wednesday that some of the abortion procedures recommended by Planned Parenthood in 2015 videos released by a pro-life group would have resulted in "live birth."

Smith suggested to a San Francisco court the videos confirm that Planned Parenthood recommends abortion methods that would allow for harvesting fetal tissue and organs for sale to medical researchers. Smith's testimony agreed with accusations made by Center for Medical Progress founder David Daleiden and member Sandra Merritt.

After reviewing a presentation given by gynecologist Alisa Goldberg at a 2014 Planned Parenthood conference, Smith said the abortion methods Goldberg described would force a woman into "tumultuous labor." The process would end in "fetal expulsion," in which "the fetus comes out without any assistance from the abortion doctor, no instrumentation."

"Very few people in abortion, outside of Planned Parenthood, do that," Smith said. "There's no question in my mind that at least some of these fetuses were live births."

"No question it's alive," he added.

Marianne Williamson wants a national mandatory service for people ages 18-26 to combat climate change
[USA Today] At a presidential climate change forum on Thursday, author and Democratic presidential hopeful Marianne Williamson floated the idea of a national mandatory year of service for young adults to tackle climate change.
I thought we were done with Dems and Skittles-shitting Unicorns...
"I would like to ask your opinion, I think during the 'season of repair,' we should have a mandatory national service, one year, for people between 18 and 26 because we need you," Williamson said. "We need to fix this climate. We need to fix this country."

MSNBC's Ali Velshi asked the audience, which consisted mainly of students, to raise their hands if they liked the idea. "A few, alright."

Williamson smirked at the crowd's reaction.

"To save the country. It's not just the climate," she said.

The climate forum was hosted by MSNBC and Georgetown University's Institute of Politics and Public Service, giving college students the opportunity to ask candidates questions. This is not the first time Williamson has mentioned of national service for young people. Her campaign website includes an outline of a program that would "be a way that every American citizen spends one year of their youth in service to the repair of our nation."

The sources said the details of posting, place and period of posting had also been sought from all station house officers (SHOs), Moharrars being posted repeatedly in the same cop shoppe for three years and accountants who had served in the same district for more than three years.

The attack took place on Aug. 20 in Koutougou, in the country's northern Soum province. Militants killed 24 Burkinabe soldiers and injured seven others.

A statement from Islamic State quoted by SITE attributed the attack to the group's West Africa branch.

Once one of the region's most peaceful countries, Burkina Faso has suffered a spillover of Islamist violence from its neighbors and large swathes of the country's north are now out of control.

Deteriorating security prompted the Ouagadougou government to declare in December a state of emergency in several northern provinces bordering Mali, including Soum.

Democratic hypocrisy on sex and murder
[AMERICANTHINKER] Can you imagine the headlines we'd be reading if Ed Buck
...Big time Dem donor accused of being a homosexual predator. By the time the third party boy corpse is found OD'd in your house you need a really good lawyer really bad...
was a Republican? You might even be wondering, who is Ed Buck? Reporting on his crimes has been less than enthusiastic up to this point, but given the pattern of behavior and the increase in frequency of the "incidents," the story cannot be ignored for much longer.

According to the police in West Hollywood, Ed Buck, a violent, dangerous sexual predator, lured homeless victims with money, drugs, and the promise of shelter to his home, where he apparently attempted to murder them with lethal injections of amphetamines. I generously used the word "apparently," since author Ian Fleming wrote, "Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action."

On July 27, 2017, Gemmel Moore died of an "accidental overdose" at Buck's residence. Police decided not to press charges. Moore was only 26 years old. Then again in January of 2019, 55-year-old Timothy Dean allegedly died in Buck's house as the result of an overdose combined with alcohol toxicity. The coroner officially ruled that Dean's death was also an accidental overdose, but the newspaper headlines disturbingly suggested that a full fifteen minutes passed after Dean had become unresponsive, but before Buck called for an ambulance.

Bill de Blasio finally gives up on presidential bid — but not on torturing New York
[NYPOST] Mayor Bill de Blasio
...cryptocommie mayor of New York and for some reason a Dem candidate for president in 2020. Corrupt and incompetent, his qualifications for office seem to consist of being married to a black woman, with whom he honeymooned in Cuba. He has a preppy-looking son named Dante, whose Divine Comedy involved getting his back hair up when a police car drove past him slowly...
has finally realized what the rest of the country did long ago: He has no chance of being president of the United States.

But that doesn’t mean he’s done torturing New York.

Oh, on the plus side, New Yorkers will no longer have to wince as their mayor abases himself before tiny "crowds" in New Hampshire and Iowa (though we will miss the awkward pictures of him and corndogs).

And (fingers crossed) those pathetic "We’re nearly there, send us $1 to help put us over the top" emails will stop, too.

Or maybe they won’t, since you have to expect de Blasio will rapidly turn his eye to some new side project that he’ll want cash for. His top goal, after all, is to maximize his income and his ambitions when term limits force him out at the end of 2021.

New York law doesn’t give him a golden parachute, so he’s determined to sew his own ‐ however many City Hall favors he has to sell to do it.

Ironically, Mayor Putz de Blasio dropped out the day after the state Joint Commission on Public Ethics announced new settlements with donors to his old Campaign for One New York nonprofit ‐ developers who got what they wanted from the city and in turn paid off the mayor’s pocket "charity," which funded his political ambitions.

When he shut down CONY in the course of dodging prosecution for his corrupt pay-to-play games, the mayor promised to stop taking money from groups or people with city business. Yet his now-done presidential campaign relied overwhelmingly on such donors ‐ particularly the Hotel Trades Council, which has won several City Hall favors.

But all that dirty money wasn’t enough to buy him success in the prez race. He dragged at below 1 percent in the polls, and proved unable to get even token $1 donations to meet the minimum needed to qualify for the Democratic debates.
Poliico: FEC finds fault with de Blasio's campaign finances
Now what? You know what he won’t do is pay any more attention to his day job than he absolutely has to ‐ after all, it was boredom with that work that left him chasing hopeless presidential dreams for months. Running the city will be left to his deputy mayors, agency heads and the permanent bureaucracy.

The only exception: whatever projects or people he can use as props to bolster his national progressive reputation ‐ that is, "ensuring that New York City remains the vanguard of progressivism," as he vowed in his NBC.com column on his withdrawal.

There’s a terrifying statement. What experiments will a bored and ambitious de Blasio foist upon us now?

Sudan’s Call meets in Cairo to discuss democratic transition
[Sudan Tribune] Sudan’s Call forces will hold a meeting in Cairo in the next few days on the democratic transition in the country after a separate meeting of the Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF) to complete its vision on peace.

The meeting of the alliance, which is composed of armed and political groups, comes after the resignation of Sadiq al-Mahdi, from his position as the chair of Sudan Call, as he called for a review of its structure and its alliances with other national forces.

The political components of Sudan Call are part of the transitional government, while the gangs remain outside the framework of the transitional arrangements.

In a statement to Sudan Tribune from Cairo, Yasir Arman, a Sudan Call leading official, said that the meeting of the Revolutionary Front from one side and the meeting of the forces of Sudan Call on the other side will take place from September 21 and end on September 30 stressing they will discuss the grinding of the peace processor and ways to accomplish the tasks of the democratic change.

"Sudan needs a genuine partnership that must include the forces of revolution and forces of change, on the other hand, it should include the regular forces, and the Forces for Freedom and Change (FFC)," he said.

Arman underscored that the importance of the Cairo meetings stems from the fact that they are crucial for peace and democratization alike.

Severe disagreements between the SRF and the FFC political components erupted after the overthrow of the al-Bashir’s regime last April.

The gangs complained they had not been consulted in the decision-making process during negotiations with the junta. Further, the disagreement exacerbated after the rejection of the SRF request for seats in the transitional authority.

Regarding the meeting of the Revolutionary Front, Arman said the umbrella will discuss the grinding of the peace processor and negotiation with the Sudanese government as agreed in Juba.

Also, they will consider cooperation with the region’s countries to reach a comprehensive peace in Sudan.

Egypt has expressed willingness to host the grinding of the peace processor but finally, the signatories of the Juba Declaration agreed on Juba as the venue of negotiations. In addition, Chad, Æthiopia Qatar

Remove Sudan from terror list, calls UN chief
United Nation Secretary-General António Guterres
...Portuguese politician and diplomat, ninth Secretary-General of the United Nations. Previously, he was the UN High Commissioner for Refugees between 2005 and 2015. He was the Prime Minister of Portugal from 1995 to 2002 and was the Secretary-General of the Socialist Party from 1992 to 2002. He served as President of the Socialist International from 1999 to 2005. In both a 2012 and 2014 poll, the Portuguese public ranked him as the best Prime Minister of the previous 30 years...
Wednesday joined calls to remove Sudan from the U.S. list of state sponsors of terrorism after the popular revolution that overthrew the regime of Omer al-Bashir.

Guterres made his call in New York at a presser at the outset of the 74th session of the General Assembly which officially opened on Tuesday 17 September while the high-level General Debate will begin on Tuesday, 24 September 2019.

Responding to a question about the situation in Sudan, the UN chief hailed the political agreement reached last August between the army and the protesters’ coalition to form a transitional authority and to work together to bring peace into the country and achieve democratic reforms.

"Sudan is a matter of great hope for us. I believe that what was possible in the dialogue in Sudan demonstrates that all political conflicts can be solved by dialogue (...), and this should be a lesson for everywhere else in the world," he said.

"It is time now for the international community to support Sudan,"

He pointed out that the east African country is experiencing "a very dire economic situation (and) in a very dramatic economic situation".

"I hope that all the restrictions that exist about Sudan, namely, the classification as a country that supports terrorism and sanctions, will be quickly removed," he stressed.

UN officials say a high-level event on Sudan will be held on the sidelines of the 74th session of the General Assembly to mobilize international support for the country.

However,
Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried...
Trump administration says they do not consider to cancel Sudan designation as a terror state for the time being.

But, Guterres warned that the failure of international support to the interim government may hamper its efforts to achieve the transition towards a democratic regime in Sudan

"I hope that there will be a massive mobilisation of resources to support Sudan overcome the extremely difficult economic situation that the country has, because, if that doesn’t happen, obviously, we risk that the gains in democracy, human rights

Home Front: WoT
Tillerson accuses Netanyahu of having 'played' Trump
[Jpost] Former US secretary of state Rex Tillerson of having "played" US President Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
and providing him with "misinformation."

The Harvard Gazette, the university’s official news website, reported on Wednesday that Tillerson made the comments during a private talk that he gave at the university on Tuesday, detailing his tenure as secretary of state. Tillerson served as the top US diplomat for 14 months ‐ from February 2017 to March 2018 ‐ until Trump fired him via Twitter.

According to the Gazette, Tillerson said that Netanyahu was "an extraordinarily skilled" politician and diplomat, although "a bit Machiavellian."
All true. Possibly more than a bit, though.
He said that the prime minister builds good and "useful" relationships with leaders and countries that he figures he will need in the future.
That is indeed his job...
"In dealing with Bibi, it’s always useful to carry a healthy amount of skepticism in your discussions with him," Tillerson was quoted as saying, adding that Israel would share "misinformation" when it felt it was necessary to persuade the US.
And that, dear sir, is the best way to ruin a long term relationship. I can’t imagine Bibi Netanyahu would be that foolish.
"They did that with the president on a couple of occasions, to persuade him that ’We’re the good guys, they’re the bad guys,’" Tillerson said. "We later exposed it to the president so he understood, ’You’ve been played.’ It bothers me that an ally that’s that close and important to us would do that to us."
Could this be what got him fired? President Trump is not exactly new to the international milieu, and will have formed his own opinions long since.
A front man for the prime minister responded by saying, "Secretary Tillerson, Israel is the good guy."
Compared to the other parties in the region, there ought be no question.
During his short term in office, Tillerson ‐ a former ExxonMobil CEO ‐ had little to do with the Israel-Paleostinian diplomatic efforts. That issue was placed instead in the hands of Jared Kushner, Trump’s senior adviser and son-in-law.

#13  Honestly attacking Iran sounds like a much better way to end up with a dirty bomb than otherwise.

We're not going to invade and conquer Iran? Like we did Iraq? So what's the plan, then? What's the win condition? How do we know when we've succeeded? Regime change? Like we did in 1979 when we greenlighted the Ayatollah Khomeni to overthrow the Shah? Because that worked out so well.

Remember the neocon plan for Iraq? Take Baghdad, disband the Iraqi army, and...

Well, that was their plan. That was as far as it went. They literally did not plan for the aftermath. The US military had to deal with the mess that the neocons created. Thousands of Americans died for a lie. A huge amount of wealth was squandered.

No, Saddam had WMD (Tabun, Mustard & nerve agents to name a few). The al-Muthanna site north of Baghdad and a few others, had nothing to do with Iraqi Pesticide Production I can assure you. The Tuwaitha site in the graphic (bombed by IS), was indeed a nuclear reactor and research facility. BTDT.

#17  It bothers me that an ally that’s that close and important to us would do that to us.

Dear Rex,

Every country's leader advances the interests of his country - not the interests of other countries, including our own country. This is true of the leaders of our closest allies, including Britain. This is also true of our own country's leaders.

For example, Eisenhower did not hesitate to act in our nation's interest, and directly against the interest of our closest ally, the UK, in the Suez Crisis.

And yes, the art of statecraft involves not telling others everything you know, and sometimes not telling them the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

That's called diplomacy. Do you understand now why you were such an abysmal failure as our nation's top diplomat?

Australian-Lebanese Jailed on Sydney Bomb Plot Set Free
[AnNahar] Lebanese authorities have released a Lebanese-Australian man detained for more than two years over an alleged plot to bring down a passenger plane bound for the United Arab Emirates from Sydney.

Australian-Lebanese dual citizen Amer Khayyat was freed Friday after a military court found he was innocent.

Shortly after his release, Khayyat said he would go back to Australia, calling it "my country not Leb."

Khayyat was held in Leb since the summer of 2017 days after Australian authorities foiled an alleged plot to down an Etihad flight bound for Abu Dhabi in 2017.

Two of Khayyat's brothers are on trial in Australia for the plot. But Australian authorities believe Amer Khayyat was an unwitting participant in the failed attack.

Trader Joe’s removes pictures of circus elephants from packaging after PETA complaint
[NYPOST] People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is praising Trader Joe’s after the grocery store chain redesigned some of its packaging, allegedly at the animal rights group’s urging.

In a statement to Fox News, PETA said that it contacted Trader Joe’s about its use of circus elephant images on items such as peanuts, peanut butter and toilet paper, pointing out that it was “standard practice to beat, shock, chain and whip elephants” and other animals used in circus performances.

It has not been confirmed if the redesign has taken effect at all stores nationwide, though PETA stated that Trader Joe’s CEO Dane Bane assured the organization once the existing stock of peanut butter jars are sold out, the next shipment will no longer contain the circus elephant image.

“The new designs at Trader Joe’s perfectly reflect that our society no longer tolerates beating elephants into submission for circus shows,” says PETA Foundation Deputy Director of Captive Animal Law Enforcement Rachel Mathews.

There is a Trader Joes nearby. We go there occasionally. There is an Aldis a litter farther down the road. The customers seem to have a left-wing inclination. TJs has a poor layout and the flow of people is not good. Most of the people who work there are friendly although I ran into one who was surly and could use an attitude re-adjustment. Greek Police Evict over 200 Migrants from Athens Squats
[AnNahar] Police in Athens on Thursday removed over 200 migrants colonists, including dozens of children, from two squats in the city centre as part of a clean up drive by the new conservative government.

Some 230 people, including 70 children, were removed and taken to the police headquarters for identification, Athens municipal radio reported.

The police declined to give details.

State TV ERT showed the migrants colonists boarding buses, some of them clutching plastic bags with their belongings.

The crackdown has been opposed by anti-establishment and rights groups who say the operations unfairly target migrant families, who would otherwise be homeless.

Thousands of anti-establishment protesters marched in Athens on Saturday in a demonstration against the squat evacuations.

New Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, elected in July, has vowed to combat "lawlessness". The new Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis -- who is the prime minister's nephew -- was similarly elected on a law and order ticket in June.

Bakoyannis argues that order must be restored before sidelined landmarks such as the National Archaeological Museum and the Athens Polytechnic -- in the middle of drug-trading areas -- can become tourist draws.

Great White North
Justin Trudeau stands exposed as phony like the ‘cancel culture’ left
[NYPOST] Justin Trudeau turns out to be even more of a vapid idiot than we’d thought. But what price will he pay for his idiocy? Canada’s ultraprogressive prime minister stands exposed as having donned black- or brownface at least three times in his younger years ‐ the most recent occasion apparently being in 2001, at age 29.

The first image to surface came from a private school’s "Arabian Nights" gala where Trudeau was also kitted out in turban and robe.

He apologized for that one Wednesday, then owned up to singing "Day O" in blackface at a high school talent show. (Apparently, no one was checking his old yearbooks until now.)

And Thursday, up popped an early ’90s video of Trudeau in blackface and an Afro wig.

He’s apologized: "I shouldn’t have done it. I should have known better, but I didn’t. And I’m really sorry."

Of course, he can’t claim that, bad as it looks now, people didn’t see donning blackface as such an invariably, horribly racist sin back then: Too much of the left spent too many days last year demanding Megyn Kelly’s scalp simply because she’d made that observation ‐ even though she never actually donned the offensive makeup.

She also apologized, on air and with tears ‐ but still lost her job.

Then again, the rules seem to be different for liberal sinners: Virginia’s Democratic governor and lieutenant gov both held on after their younger-days blackface photos surfaced.

To us, this is mainly just fresh proof that Trudeau is a phony ‐ a chameleon whose current perfect-PCness is a pose in pursuit of popularity and power. But is it worth his resignation? No. This scandal will simply be one more thing for Canadian voters to take into account in their coming elections, where polls already had him in trouble.

We can’t let "cancel culture" overtake all ‐ shaming people for past actions to the point that they get kicked off social media or, worse, lose their jobs.
Bullshit. Make em live by their own rules until they change them - for everyone. "Off with his head!" the Red Queen decrees
The greater sin is that many liberals use such tactics to get rid of those they don’t like, while fellow travelers get let off the hook. Will they be outraged equally and fairly, or turn such incidents into witch hunts? We already know the answer. You can win mercy when you generally say all the right (i.e., left) things and vote or govern accordingly. Otherwise ...

Better to stop getting hung up on every tweet, every ill-advised costume, every long-ago foolishness and instead focus on what’s important: Who a person is today.

Stalin and Beria's secret police depended heavily on ordinary citizen informants, many of whom were motivated by simple envy and resentment and who denounced their neighbors to the NKVD in hopes of snagging their coveted urban apartments when they were dragged off to the gulag.

Today's wokey-jokey identity politics mob is motivated more than anything by a power grab, the desire to out a cloud over every powerful white male in order to snag his position when the mob brings him down - regardless of whether there's even a shred of evidence of the bogus crimes they accuse him of.

This is a power grab, pure and simple.

Trump announces toughest sanctions ‘ever’ on Iran
[IsraelTimes] Measures against central bank come after administration vowed response to blasts blamed on Tehran that damaged Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
’s oil infrastructure.

US President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
on Friday announced new sanctions on Iran’s central bank, calling the measures the toughest ever imposed on another country by the United States.

"We have just sanctioned the Iranian national bank," Trump told news hounds in the Oval Office.

"These are the highest sanctions ever imposed on a country," he said.

The Trump administration has vowed a response after US officials blamed Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
for weekend blasts on Saudi Arabia’s oil infrastructure, which caused a sharp hike in global crude prices.

The United States already maintains sweeping sanctions on Iran including on its central bank, with anyone who deals with it subject to prosecution.

Elaborating on Trump’s remarks, the Treasury Department said it was authorizing sanctions on the central bank not only over Iran’s alleged nuclear work but for "terrorism."

Such a designation may be more difficult to lift, even if Trump loses next year’s election to a Democrat who wants to ease sanctions as part of a future deal.

"Iran’s brazen attack against Saudi Arabia is unacceptable," Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in a statement.

"Treasury’s action targets a crucial funding mechanism that the Iranian regime uses to support its terrorist network, including the Quds Force, Hezbollah and other murderous Moslems that spread terror and destabilize the region," he said.

The Quds Force conducts international operations for Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards, who are in charge of protecting the holy manal regime.

Hezbollah, the Shiite terror group and political party in Leb, is among Iran’s closest regional partners.

The Treasury Department said that the Iranian central bank has provided "billions of dollars" to the two units, which were both previously designated as murderous Moslems by Washington.

The United States also imposed sanctions on Iran’s sovereign wealth fund, whose board of trustees include President Hassan Rouhani
...Iran's moderate president, which he is, relative to his predecessor, which doesn't mean he's anything but a puppet of the nearest holy man...
, as well as Etemad Tejarate Pars, a company that the Treasury Department said had sent money internationally on behalf of Iran’s defense ministry.

Whistleblower Complaint Now Looks Like Democrat Effort to Protect Joe Biden from Investigation
[THECONSERVATIVETREEHOUSE] The mysterious "whistleblower" case now looks like a coordinated Democrat effort to block any investigation of presidential candidate Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...Old, boring, a plagiarist, fond of hair sniffing and grabbing the protruding parts of women, and not whatcha call brilliant...
for corrupt pressure on Ukraine to drop the investigation of Burisma, an energy company operating in the country, on which his son Hunter Biden was a board member.

In March 2016, then Vice-President Joe Biden warned Ukraine that $1 billion in loan guarantees would be withheld by the U.S. unless they replaced Viktor Shokin, the prosecutor general who was investigating Hunter Biden. Ukraine did remove Shokin, and the prosecution was dropped. It looks like a clear case of a quid-pro-quo.

However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
as things are starting to shake out, the current obfuscation to protect Joe Biden is President Trump asking Ukraine’s new president Volodymyr Zelensky to take another look at the issues surrounding the former government’s decision to fire the Ukrainian prosecutor. This is presumably the call concerning to the whistleblower. To wit, democrats see this as Trump asking Ukraine to interfere in the 2020 election.

Pippi Lectures US Congress on Alleged Climate Change
[THEGATEWAYPUNDIT] First they trotted out David Hogg to lecture us on the 2nd Amendment, now a 16-year-old from Sweden is lecturing us on non-existent global warming.

16-year-old Swedish ’Climate Change’ activist Greta "Pippi" Thunberg
...an autistic sixteen year old Swedish expert on climate change...
appeared before US politicians on Wednesday to lecture the US on the climate hoax.

Meanwhile China and India continue to be the world’s biggest polluters because Climate Change legislation isn’t about the environment, it’s about a global scheme to redistribute wealth.

Thunberg has a myriad of mental health issues. She is autistic, has obsessive-compulsive disorder, and suffers from Asperger syndrome and the left is pushing her out onto the world stage and exploiting her.

"Please save your praise. We don’t want it," Thunberg said sputtered stuttered thundered. "Don’t invite us here to just tell us how inspiring we are without actually doing anything about it because it doesn’t lead to anything."

"If you want advice for what you should do, invite scientists, ask scientists for their expertise. We don’t want to be heard. We want the science to be heard."

Thunberg then blasted Congress and said: "I know you are trying but just not hard enough. Sorry."

Clearly this child has no clue what she’s talking about, but the left is treating her like she’s the savior of the world.

California’s Request for Federal Funding to Combat Homelessness Rejected
[AMGREATNESS] As the homelessness crisis in Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, escalates, state officials requested increased federal funding to combat the issue, only to be rejected by Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson
... a neurosurgeon who was under the delusion that being brilliant qualifies him to be president....
, as reported by ABC.

The request letter was signed by Governor Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) and "mayors of the state’s 13 largest cities." The letter points out California’s recent increase in spending on welfare programs, and claims that the "[Trump] Administration has proposed significant cuts to public housing and programs like the Community Development Block Grant."

In a return letter signed by Secretary Carson, the Administration responded by pointing out that California "seeks federal dollars...from hardworking American taxpayers but fails to admit that your State and local policies have played a major role in the current crisis." Carson lists some of the state-based causes as being an "over-regulated housing market, its inefficient allocation of resources, and its policies that have weakened law enforcement."

Experts who spoke to ABC agree that "state and local policies...have led to the affordable housing shortage in California," while also admitting that simply spending more money "could take decades...to impact homelessness."

The dispute comes as President Trump has also threatened to hit California with environmental violations due to the pollution caused by the high rate of homelessness. State Democratic leaders have mostly shifted the blame onto the president with partisan attacks, further highlighting the vast political divide between the president and the heavily Democratic state.

“Moderate” Islamist Ennahda Backs Saied In Tunisia's Presidential Run-Off
[Jpost] Tunisia's largest political party, moderate Islamist Ennahda, will back former law professor Kais Saied in a presidential election run-off, it said on Thursday, potentially boosting his chances against his detained rival, Nabil Karoui.

Saied and media mogul Karoui won the most votes in Sunday's presidential election, beating a number of veteran politicians.

The result was a sharp rejection of the forces that have dominated since the 2011 revolution but failed to address economic problems including high unemployment and inflation.

Saied took 18.4% of the votes and Karoui 15.6%. Ennahda's Abdelfattah Mourou came third with 12.9%.

The field of 26 candidates included the prime minister, two former premiers, a former president and the defence minister.

Ennahda, which was shocked by its defeat, will now throw its weight behind Saied .

"The party has decided to support candidate Kais Saied because he is close to the spirit of the revolution and with clean hands," said Mohammed Ben Salem, a senior Ennahda official.

Several losing conservative candidates, including former president Moncef Marzouki, former premier Hamadi Jebali, and independents Safi Said and Lotfi Mrayhi also backed Saied.

None of the defeated candidates have yet endorsed Karoui.

Little-known before the election, Saied is a professor of constitutional law who ran a modest campaign with next to no publicity or funding, espousing conservative social views while pushing for a return to the principles of the 2011 uprising.

The second round of voting is expected next month after some candidates in the election appealed results.

Karoui, a well-known but controversial figure, is the owner of a major television news channel and founder of a large charity that focuses on the plight of Tunisia's poor.

He was detained weeks before the election over a tax evasion and money laundering case brought three years ago by an independent transparency watchdog.

He denies all wrongdoing and his supporters attribute his arrest to political manipulation. He was unable to take part in televised debates before the vote and electoral monitors have voiced concern that voters have been deprived of a chance to hear him campaign.

A Karoui victory in the second round could raise difficult legal and constitutional questions given his status in detention in a case for which no verdict has yet been delivered.

Seattle's proposed tax on Uber, Lyft rides would help fund affordable housing, streetcar. Honest.
[SEATTLEPI] A proposed tax on Uber and Lyft rides in Seattle could help fund affordable housing units and transportation projects in the city, Mayor Jenny Durkan announced this week.

Durkan proposed the 51-cent tax on rideshares, on top of an existing city fee on Uber and Lyft of 24 cents per ride. The proposal would also require Seattle drivers be paid a minimum wage and get compensation for benefits and expenses effective July 2020.

But it is facing pushback from rideshare companies, which say the tax would raise prices for riders and hurt those in under-served communities.

Under the proposal, the city is predicting by the end of 2025, the new revenue will have resulted in $56 million to help fund the Center City Connector streetcar. More than $52 million generated would go toward building more than 500 housing units near transit, meant for people making between $15 and $25 per hour.

Another $17.75 million generated would go toward the creation of an independent Driver Resolution Center, to help provide an independent arbitration and appeals process for drivers. The center would also give education services on driver's rights.

Pakistan Army major, sepoy martyred in IED explosion near Afghan border: ISPR
[DAWN] A major and a sepoy of the Pakistain Army were martyred in an improvised bomb (IED) explosion near the Pakistain-Afghanistan border
...also known as Pashtunistan, home of ignorance, poverty, and automatic weapons...
in Mohmand tribal district, the military's media wing said on Friday.

Maj Adeel Shahid and Sepoy Faraz Hussain "fell victim to an IED planted by Death Eaters from across the border", the director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) tweeted.

The squad under the martyred officer was supervising fencing work in an area "which carried [a] critical infiltration route", the ISPR added.

Maj Adeel belonged to Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
while Sepoy Faraz hailed from Kotli district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
The incident comes less than a week after four soldiers of the Army were martyred and one other was injured in two separate incidents of firing by snuffies near the Afghan border.

The first of those incidents had occurred in North Wazoo tribal district, where miscreants had opened fire on a routine patrolling party of security forces near the Abba Khel area of Spinwam tehsil, claiming the life of Sepoy Akhtar Hussain, 23. Two miscreants were also killed in the subsequent exchange of fire.

The banned Tehrik-e-Taliban
...Arabic for students...
Pakistain (TTP) had grabbed credit for the ambush.

In the second incident in Dir, suspected Death Eaters had opened fire from across the Pak-Afghan border on Pak troops who were busy in border fencing. Three soldiers were martyred.

Daesh “Recruiting In Helmand,” MPs Claim
[ToloNews] ISIS

has reportedly been "active in the northern districts of Musa Qala, Nawzad and Washir."

Two MPs from Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
and a member of the provincial council said ISIS has started recruiting in Helmand province, and is trying to create a footprint in southern Afghanistan ‐ which to date has not seen the presence of the terrorist groups.

Official intelligence and information from local sources are sufficient to show that ISIS has started its activities in the northern districts of Helmand, including Musa Qala, Nawzad and Washir, according to the MPs.

"Based on my information, a person named Zakir is trying to create a ISIS footprint in Nandaro village in Musa Qala district," said Ghulam Wali Afghan, an MP from Helmand.

"ISIS is growing [in Helmand] and is doing its recruitment and military training," said Mirwais Khadim, an MP from Helmand. "The government should pay serious attention to this matter, and so should the international community. NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
and the United States should cooperate and plan to prevent ISIS’s growth [in Helmand]."

The head of the Helmand Provincial Council, Attaullah Afghan, agreed: "We have been informed that ISIS has a presence in the northern parts of Helmand and has somehow started its recruitment."

Meanwhile,
...back at the pond, the enormous newt was trying to decide if Gloria was edible...
Helmand governor Yasin Khan said the Afghan cops are fully capable of fighting against ISIS, but he didn’t offer how.

"ISIS is trying to find a foothold in Helmand, but based on intelligence information, the practical activity of ISIS has not been seen in Helmand so far because people are not in their favor," the governor said.

This comes as parts of Helmand are under Taliban

influence, and the province has faced many festivities between Afghan forces and faceless myrmidons over the past few years.

Arabia
Saudi-Led Coalition Strikes Yemeni Rebels after Oil Attacks
[AnNahar] The Saudi-led coalition said it launched a military operation against Tehran-linked Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
i rebels Thursday, in its first known strike since an attack on the kingdom's oil industry that was blamed on Iran.

The operation in the north of the war-battered country comes after strikes on two Saudi oil facilities last weekend knocked out half the kingdom's production, sending regional tensions soaring.

The coalition said its operation destroyed four sites north of the port city of Hodeida that were used by the rebels to assemble remote-controlled boats and sea mines, according to a statement released by the official Saudi Press Agency.

It described the sites as a threat to maritime security in the crucial shipping lane of Bab al-Mandeb and the southern Red Sea.

Hours before announcing the operation, which strains an already fragile UN-brokered ceasefire in Hodeida, the coalition said it intercepted a "remote-controlled, booby-trapped boat" that the rebels aimed to use for a "terrorist act in the south of Red Sea".

The coalition said the boat was destroyed in the operation but it did not specify the target.

There was no immediate reaction from the rebels.

The coalition intervened in support of the Yemeni government in 2015 when President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi fled into Saudi exile as the rebels closed in on his last remaining territory in and around second city Aden.

The conflict has since killed tens of thousands of people -- most of them civilians -- and driven millions more to the brink of famine in what the United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
calls the world's worst humanitarian crisis.

The coalition, assisted by Western powers including the US, has struggled to oust the ragtag but highly motivated tribal militia group that has stepped up attacks on Saudi cities.

The Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
s
grabbed credit for last weekend's attacks on Abqaiq ‐- the world's largest oil processing facility ‐- and the Khurais oil field in eastern Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
But both Washington and Riyadh have ruled that out, saying the operation was beyond the Yemeni krazed killers' capabilities, and pinned the blame on Saudi Arabia's arch rival Iran.

Affirmative Action and NASA
[American Thinker] In the 47 years since the last man set foot on the moon, the space program has changed a great deal. One of those changes has been incorporating mandated affirmative action policies. These policies have had an incredibly negative effect on both the progress in the space program and the engineers whose careers have been destroyed by them.

The federal government mandates that a given percentage of work on a government contract go to minority-owned businesses. When building a large and complicated system like a space vehicle, it is almost impossible for a company like Boeing or Lockheed to meet this requirement by hiring out specific design work to small, minority-owned companies. Even if that were feasible, those companies do not exist.

Enter subcontracting companies.

Russia Downs Israeli Drone Attempting To Attack In Syria - Russian Media
[Jpost] Russian fighter planes destroyed in Israeli drone on its way to attack Syria on Thursday night, Russian aviation website Avia.pro reports.

If the report is indeed true, this would be the fourth time that Russian forces blocked an alleged Israeli attack in Syria.

The question is whether Assad can survive without Russian air cover. Is Assad preferable to al Qaeda/ISIS? Because the non-extremist Sunni Arabs in Syria could probably all fit in a phone booth*. Decisions, decisions ...

S. Sudan’s new government to be formed by November: Kiir
[Sudan Tribune] South Sudan President Salva Kiir has said the Transitional Government of National Unity must be formed on November 12 as agreed by the parties to the peace deal in May this year.

Kiir made these remarks during prayers organised by South Sudan Council of Churches (SSCC) at State House in the capital, Juba on Thursday.

"Through your prayers our wounds people will be healed," he said.

The South Sudanese leader also appealed to the armed opposition leader Riek Machar to return to Juba ahead of the formation of the new coalition government.

During last week’s meetings between Kiir and Machar in Juba, both leaders committed to the timely formation of the new government.

The two rival leaders also agreed to form a committee that would look into the final report of the Independent Boundary Commission (IBC), number of states and their boundaries and come up with findings suitable for both parties and the people of South Sudan.

On his part, however, Catholic Archbishop Paulino Lukudu Loro appealed to the signatories to the peace pact to ensure the accord if fully implemented and new government put in place as agreed.

South Sudan descended into war in mid-December 2013, when Kiir accused Machar of plotting a coup.

In September 2018, the rival factions involved in the conflict signed a peace deal to end the conflict that has killed tens of thousands of people and displaced over 2 million people in the country.

The power-sharing arrangements under the deal were supposed to take effect in May, but the process was delayed by six months until November as both sides disagreed on security arrangements.

[DAWN] The United States cut more than $160 million in direct funding to Afghanistan on Thursday, 10 days before the country’s elections, accusing the government of not doing enough to fight corruption.

Sudan cancels death sentences on 8 Darfur rebels
[Sudan Tribune] Sudan’s Sovereign Council Thursday dropped death penalty
against eight people of the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdel Wahid al-Nur (SLM-AW) which fights the army in Darfur region.

The presidential pardon, the Council said, comes within the framework of the government efforts to bring peace in the country and in line with the Juba Declaration signed with the Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF) and the SPLM-N led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu.

Sovereign Council’s member and front man, Mohammed al-Faki told news hounds that the collegial presidency in a meeting held on Thursday discussed the progress made in implementing the confidence-building agreements signed with the gangs in the South Sudanese capital on 14 October

"The Transitional Sovereignty Council decided to drop the death penalty against eight members of the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdel Wahid Mohammed Nur," al-Faki said.

"Also, it decided to release 18 convicts of various periods of imprisonment belonging to the armed struggle movements," he further added without giving the name of their groups.

The SLM-AW is not a member of the rebel umbrella signatory of the Juba Declaration. Also, in recent statements the group leader said the army and the Forces for Freedom and Change FFC have stolen the revolution and called for a referendum on the constitutional document to prove they have legitimacy.

Last Sunday, SPLM-N led by Malik Agar which an SRF member welcomed the release of 17 its fighters by the Sudanese government.

In line with the Juba agreement, the parties will start a comprehensive grinding of the peace processor on 14 October in the South Sudanese Juba.

Britain
BDS founder unable to attend UK Labour event due to visa holdup
[IsraelTimes] Paleostine Solidarity Campaign blames delay in handling of Omar Barghouti’s visa request on ’growing efforts by Israel and its allies to suppress Paleostinian voices’.

A founder of the Paleostinian-led boycott movement against Israel will be unable to speak at an event at the UK Labour Party’s upcoming annual conference due to his visa request being delayed.

The Paleostine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), a pro-BDS group hosting the event on the sidelines of the Labour conference in Brighton, on Friday said Omar Barghouti would instead address the gathering by video due to the UK government’s "unexplained, abnormal delay" in issuing him a visa.

"The unprecedented delay in processing Barghouti’s travel visa application by the British government is part and parcel of the growing efforts by Israel and its allies to suppress Paleostinian voices and the movements for Paleostinian rights," PSC said in a statement.

Barghouti had been set to speak at the "Paleostine in the age of Trump" event alongside Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott and Unite union chief Len McCluskey, both allies of Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

"They fear our shining a light of truth that reveals their lies. They dread our tireless quest for freedom, justice and equality," Barghouti said, according to the PSC statement.

There was no immediate comment from the UK Home Office, which handles visa requests.

Corbyn, a strong critic of Israel, has said he doesn’t support the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement, though at the Labour conference last year the party passed a motion calling to ban all UK weapons sales to Israel.

Since becoming Labour leader in 2015, Corbyn has come under scrutiny for his criticism of Israel and past contacts with the Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, and Hezbollah terror groups, both sworn to Israel’s destruction.

Labour and Corbyn himself have also been rocked by accusations of anti-Semtisim, with fresh scrutiny coming after a number of former party officials accused him and his allies of interfering in efforts to address the issue, in a recent BBC program.

Earlier this year, Barghouti was denied entry to the US for a multi-city speaking tour.

The Arab American Institute said at the time that Barghouti, a resident of Acre who is married to an Arab Israeli and holds Israeli permanent resident status, was not provided an explanation for his denial of entry beyond being told it was an "immigration matter."

James Zogby, the head of the Arab American Institute, called Barghouti’s ban an "arbitrary political decision," and accused the Trump administration of working to "silence Paleostinian voices."

Israel has barred Barghouti from leaving the county a number of times in recent years, by refusing to renew travel documents granted to Paleostinian residents of Israel who do not have full citizenship.

The BDS campaign advocates boycotts, divestment and sanctions against Israeli businesses, universities and artists. Supporters say BDS is a nonviolent movement for Paleostinian independence, but Israel claims it aims to delegitimize the Jewish state, and it has been condemned by many as anti-Semitic at its roots.

Israel's Netanyahu clings to power as coalition talks loom
[DAWN] Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faced local media headlines on Friday suggesting power is slipping from his grasp after an election in which he trails his main rival with nearly all votes counted.

The right-wing leader failed on Tuesday, for the second time in five months, to secure a clear election victory and the centrist Blue and White party led by ex-armed forces chief Benny Gantz rebuffed his calls to join a unity government on Thursday.

Near-final results released on Friday by the Knesset's election committee showed Blue and White will be the largest single party in the new parliament with 33 of the 120 seats, with Netanyahu's Likud winning 31 seats, three less than it had before.

Israeli newspapers and commentators depicted the 69-year-old leader as in a weakened position, with headlines such as: "Himself Alone" and "Political Death Spasms".

Israeli president Reuven Rivlin will on Sunday start consultations with the parties about choosing a leader to put together a coalition.

There were only narrow differences in the two main parties' campaigns on many important issues, and an end to the Netanyahu era would be unlikely to bring significant changes in policy on relations with the United States, the regional struggle against Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites.

#1  faced local media headlines on Friday suggesting power is slipping from his grasp

Just like your media with "orange man bad", ours has "Bibi has to go" mantra. Gantz doesn't have 57 votes. He has a block of 44 votes in his pocket (the other 13 are United Arab Party - the enemy). Bibi has 55 with orthodox parties. Liberman holds 8.

Gantz can't form a coalition without Liberman - and nobody knows what Liberman wants. And either religious parties - in which cases he betrays most of his voters, or Arab parties - in which cases he betrays most of his voters (as well as everybody else).

Plus, Gantz wouldn't be very good in coalition negotiations.

So, I guess, Israel heading for unprecedented third elections

Turkey stations doctors near Syrian border for possible military operation
[Jpost] Doctors from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
's large cities have been stationed in two southern provinces to prepare for a possible incursion into northern Syria, two security sources told Rooters on Friday, adding leave for doctors in the region had been cancelled.

Turkey and the United States have been working to establish a safe zone in northern Syria along the Ottoman Turkish border. President Tayyip Erdogan has said that Washington is stalling the process and that Turkey would carry out an operation into Syria if the safe zone is not set up by the end of September.

A security source said doctors from some large cities were stationed in the southern provinces of Sanliurfa and Mardin in preparation for a possible incursion.

"President Erdogan clearly spoke of Turkey's concern over PYD/YPG presence in Syria and pointed to a possible military operation if there is no developments in the second half of September," the source said, referring to the Syrian-Kurdish militia that controls most of northern and northwestern Syria.

The YPG has been a main U.S. ally in the fight against Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. in Syria. U.S. support for the fighters has infuriated Turkey, which considers the YPG a terrorist organization, and strained ties with Washington.

Next week, Erdogan and U.S. President Donald Trump
...Oh, noze! Not him!...
will discuss plans for the safe zone along 450 km (280 miles) of Syrian border stretching east from the Euphrates river to the Iraqi border.

Turkey has already carried out two incursions against the YPG in Syria.

"The leaves of doctors have been suspended to prepare for a possible cross-border operation. We have been preparing for a long time. Now it is at a phase that the operation can be conducted whenever deemed necessary," a security bigshot said.

Hezbollah terrorist scouted NYC-area locations: feds
More on this story from yesterday.
[NYPOST] A New Jersey man has spent the past 22 years training with and scouting terror-attack locations for Hezbollah ‐ and provided the group with intelligence on the Port Authority, Grand Central Terminal, the New York Stock Exchange and the city’s two airports, according to a new federal indictment against him.

Alexei Saab, 42, of Morristown ‐ also known as Ali Hassan Saab, Alex Saab, or "Rachid" ‐ was charged Thursday in a nine-count indictment for allegedly providing material support to the deadly organization.

Saab was arrested in July, and remains in federal custody, officials said.

As far back as in 2003, he gave Hezbollah photos and other detailed intel on New York City landmarks and transportation hubs.

Saab surveilled dozens of locations in New York City‐including the United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
headquarters, the Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, the Empire State Building, the federal offices at 26 Federal Plaza, and local airports, tunnels, and bridges, including the George Washington Bridge.

The detailed information recovered from his computers included photographs and details on the structural weaknesses ‐ or "soft spots" ‐ of these locations, officials alleged.

He has also surveilled sites in cities around the US ‐ including the Washington Monument and Boston’s Fenway Park, The Post has learned.

The charges do not allege that Saab conducted any recent surveillance.

"According to the allegations, while living in the United States, Saab served as an operative of Hezbollah and conducted surveillance of possible target locations in order to help the foreign terrorist organization prepare for potential future attacks against the United States," said Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers said in a press statement.

"Such covert activities conducted on U.S. soil are a clear threat to our national security and I applaud the agents, analysts, and prosecutors who are responsible for this investigation and prosecution."

Saab joined Hezbollah in 1996, and his earliest activities with the group include spying in Leb on the movements of Israeli and Southern Lebanese Army soldiers, and intelligence-gathering in Istanbul, the indictment alleges.

He trained in the use of firearms, including AK-47s, and in 2000 he received extensive training in military tactics, including how to construct bombs and other bombs, the indictment alleges.

In 2005, Saab attempted to murder a suspected Israeli spy, pointing a firearm at close range and twice pulling the trigger, only to have the gun malfunction both times, officials said.

16 indicted in Subarnachar gang rape case
[Dhaka Tribune] A Noakhali court has framed charges against 16 people in a case filed over the gang rape of a 40-year-old woman in Subarnachar upazila of Noakhali on January 1.

Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal 2 Judge Shamsuddin Khaled passed the order after a hearing on Thursday.

The plaintiff's lawyer Rabiul Hasan Polash said: "After investigation and collection of confessional statements from the arrestees, police submitted the charge sheet to the court, accusing 16 of them."

"Two of them are runaways and the rest of them are currently behind bars," he added.

On early hours of January 1, the mother of four was forcibly dragged her from her house in the Modhya Bagya village under Subarnachar's Charjubli union and gang raped, allegedly by 10-15 local Awami League activists.

Her husband, who later filed the case at Char Jabbar cop shoppe, alleged the group of miscreants, wielding firearms, barged into their home around midnight, tied him and his children up, forcefully took his wife away from their home and gang-raped her.

He alleged that his wife was attacked because she cast her vote for the BNP candidate during the 11th general election held on December 30, 2018.

The man alleged that the attackers were led by the ruling party's upazila unit Publicity Secretary Ruhul Amin, who was later expelled by Awami League.

The news of the gang rape had shocked the country, sparked protests in Dhaka and elsewhere, and drew condemnation on social media.

California judge blocks law requiring Trump to submit tax returns to compete in state's 2020 primary
[FOXNEWS] A federal judge in Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, Thursday granted the Trump campaign’s request to block a new law that requires presidential and gubernatorial candidates to release five years of tax returns to run in the state’s primary elections.

The law signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, in July would have left the sitting president off of the ballot in California’s March 2020 primary unless he submitted five years’ worth of his tax returns by a Nov. 26 deadline, the Los Angeles Times reported. Under SB 27, Trump would be included on the general election ballot in November 2020. Opponents of the law argue depressed GOP voter turnout in the primary could discourage voters from showing up to vote for the president in the main race.

"We are encouraged that the federal court has tentatively concluded that a preliminary injunction should be granted. We look forward to the court’s written order," Trump's attorney, Jay Sukelow, said in a statement, according to The Hill. "It remains our position that the law is unconstitutional because states are not permitted to add additional requirements for candidates for president, and that the law violated citizens’ 1st Amendment right of association."

U.S. District Judge Morrison England Jr., who was appointed by President George W. Bush, said he would issue a final ruling by the end of the month. He said he handed down an initial order from the bench to prevent the "irreparable harm without temporary relief" for Trump and other candidates should the law go into effect, according to the Times.

Thursday’s hearing consolidated five separate lawsuits filed against the state in response to SB 27. But Trump was the most high-profile defendant. Some argue the law was politically motivated and was conjured up by Democrats who are leading a widespread push to force the president to turn over his tax returns.

"The elephant in the room is President Trump's tax returns ‐ that's what this is about," England said during the hearing in Sacramento. "But it does have implications that are far-reaching."

Trump's lawyers said SB 27 would unfairly force the president to give up his right to privacy. Trump has already complied with federal law by submitting an annual report that provides an overview of his finances. The Ethics in Government Act (EIGA), which was enacted in 1976, applies to a range of high-ranking federal officials, the Los Angeles Times reported.

#7  Some special forces guys swear by AKs and the sturdy old SVD. They were given a few thousand M16s only last year I think. Or the year before. Somehow any new armament will find its way into taliban hands though. The American DoD found that 43% of weaponry provided to Iraq and Afghan host forces wound up in ISIS and taliban hands in 2015.

#8  Can't help wondering: how many ANDSF personnel are also Taliban?
Posted by: g(r)omgoru || 09/21/2019 14:01 Comments || Top||

#9  Unlikely. Since those joining the afghan forces are fueled by intense hatred and revenge for their own families mostly. But there have to be recruits from tribal communities that mat be holding jobs in other govt branches. I suspect there are several mercenary types too. Dillingers who'll moonlight as killers for any party. There is a push by Pakistain to get the Afghan govt to actually induct some fighters claiming to have denounced the taliban in the ANDSF, vehemently opposed by the career soldiers. The two can't stand each other. If there's any compromise it's only for moolah. In higher ranks, it's about a share in the 'product'.

My info is sketchy though. India hasn't really paid much attention since 2016. We just knew Trump will pull out, and the nation will go to shit. The taliban will eventually win this land, things being as they are.

#10  Recently the taliban announced they want to be a part of the Afghan Emirati Army to come and shall welcome the career soldiers to join them in building one. Fuckers.

IDF officer hit by rock while driving in West Bank, moderately hurt
[IsraelTimes] An Israeli military officer on leave was moderately maimed Friday afternoon after being hit in the face with a rock while driving in the northern West Bank.

The 23-year-old was hit when the rock flew through the windshield of his car near the settlement of Ma’aleh Shomron, west of Nablus. The officer’s father was with him in the car at the time.

The maimed man was treated by medics at the scene and taken to a hospital in Petah Tikva.

Several other rock-throwing incidents against Israeli cars were reported in the area, with no injuries.

Rock-throwing attacks against Israeli vehicles are common in the West Bank, though they rarely cause casualties. Extremist settlers have also been known to attack Paleostinian drivers with rocks, and in one incident last year an Israeli teen is accused of having thrown a rock that killed a Paleostinian woman.
