Tensions rise as Hezbollah supporters clash with Lebanese Army
[JPost] Lebanon began a sixth day of anti-government protests on Tuesday after supporters of the Hezbollah terrorist movement and the pro-Hezbollah Amal party confronted Lebanese protestors in Beirut on Monday evening.

Videos posted on social media showed motorcycles bearing the flags of Hezbollah and Amal driving through the streets of Beirut, according to Lebanese broadcaster MTV. The motorcycles were confronted by the Lebanese Army and prevented from reaching protestors. About 200 motorcycles took part in the parade, according to Al Arabiya. Military and security sources have stressed that the army will not confront protestors.

"We will not clash with the protesters and make a problem on the ground," said a security source to Asharq Al-Awsat. "If they are convinced, so be it, if they are not the roads will remain closed."

A statement by Hezbollah and another statement by Amal denied that the motorcycle parade was endorsed by either movement. During a meeting between the two movements, a statement was made supporting the "sincere" protests of the Lebanese people, but urging the government to adopt the reforms suggested by Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri.

Amal officials demanded that their supporters stop any movement in the capital, according to Al-Akhbar.

Hole in the ozone is now the SMALLEST it has been on record since it was discovered in 1982, NASA confirms
Posted by: Skidmark || 10/22/2019 11:15 || Comments || Link || E-Mail|| [0 views] Top|| File under:

#1  It was discovered in 1956, and in 1958 they'd figured out what caused it. Ozone is made through the interaction of sunlight in the upper atmosphere, so in places where you only get sunlight 6 months of the year, you don't get much ozone creation. CFC's were not in widespread use in 1956 or 1958. Another natural event we attempt to take credit for.

China-Japan-Koreas
China's Disguised Global Threat Comes Alive
[Issues & Insights] A new and exciting movie was just released illustrating through semi-fictional dramatization how the Chinese government-controlled telecom company Huawei is a primary economic weapon in an arsenal through which Beijing seeks global domination.

The names of the people and the company are all changed, but "Claws of the Red Dragon" dramatizes Canada's arrest at U.S. request last year of Meng Wanzhou, Huawei's financial chief and daughter of its founder, for violations of sanctions on terrorist Iran and other offenses. In retaliation, Beijing detained two Canadians, an ex-diplomat and a businessman, for spying, and retried a 36-year-old tourist serving a 15-year drug offense, sentencing him to the death penalty.

It depicts a real life-based Chinese-Canadian reporter reluctantly taking on the story and risking her life to connect the dots between the company and the Communist Party and the Chinese People's Liberation Army. And the film goes behind closed doors to show the scheming of party operatives whose sights are set on global dominance in our lifetimes.

Having premiered over the weekend on the One America News Network, which will show it again Friday evening, the film is the work of New York-based Chinese-American New Tang Dynasty Television. The production values and acting, particularly Dorren Lee as journalist Jane Li, are top notch. Ex-Trump strategist Steve Bannon, who's an executive producer, hosted a press screening in New York City last week, where he brandished a well-worn copy of "Unrestricted Warfare," a 1999 book by two senior Chinese air force colonels. They argue that economic warfare, attacks on digital infrastructure, and terrorism can enable a lesser power to win a war against the U.S., especially as part of a "grand warfare method" pairing military and non-military tactics. Beijing hasn't veered far off that strategy in the two decades since.

Florida Senate Committee Upholds Sheriff Scott Israel Suspension
This piece of shit just won't go away
[Daily Caller] The Florida Senate rules committee voted Monday to uphold Republican Governor Ron DeSantis' suspension of Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel.

DeSantis had suspended Israel in January, citing his failure to act during the school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, and the committee was tasked with either upholding that suspension or reinstating the sheriff. Nine members voted to make Israel's suspension permanent, while seven voted to reinstate.

Radio host and author Dana Loesch, a vocal critic of Israel, cheered the decision in a series of tweets following the vot

Loesch then pivoted, saying that Israel's position as sheriff was in itself an argument for the 2nd Amendment and called it "further proof that we must be able to rely on 2A for our self defense because we cannot rely on government."

A number of family members and friends of the 17 Parkland school shooting victims were in attendance when the committee convened at 10:30 am. They gave testimony throughout the day and stayed for the vote that was held at 8:45 pm.

Israel was also present for the proceedings, sitting near the back of the room with his wife Susan.

Maj. Tulsi Gabbard receives surprise deployment orders to Antarctica
[Duffelblog - satire, Herb]
Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) was surprised with deployment orders to Antarctica earlier today, her presidential campaign confirmed.

The Democratic presidential candidate has been a unique critical voice against American military imperialism, drawing national attention to the issue during the first two rounds of Democratic primary debates, much to the chagrin of foreign policy hawks on both sides of the political aisle.

Congresswoman Gabbard is a major in the Hawaii National Guard, serving as a military police officer. She will be deployed to the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station as part of a mission to enhance the security posture at the research station.

Sources at the Pentagon expressed concern at the potential threat posed by a nearby Russian research station located 800 miles away, as well as an increasingly hostile local penguin population.

"The situation in Antarctica is the greatest geopolitical threat we've faced since Grenada in the early 1980s," said National Security Advisor John Bolton. "It's imperative we put boots on the ground to protect America's vital interests in the region."

Gabbard recently made headlines following her brutal indictment of Sen. Kamala Harris's (D-CA) record as California's attorney general in the most recent round of Democratic debates. She was the most searched presidential candidate on Google following the debate, and drew ire from the Harris camp. Harris is rumored to be the favorite among the Democratic establishment and has courted big donors who funded the Clinton campaign in 2016.

Gabbard will be deploying to Antarctica within the week, and is expected to return next summer, shortly after the Democratic National Convention has concluded.

"It's unfortunate that Congresswoman Gabbard's presidential aspirations have been thwarted by her upcoming deployment," said Sen. Kamala Harris. "It will be difficult for her to have much of a voice in this election cycle while stationed at the South Pole."

"If only she had some friends at the Pentagon who could do her a favor," she added, winking dramatically and making finger guns long after the cameras stopped taking pictures.

Iraq: US troops leaving Syria have no approval to stay
[Aljazeera] US forces that crossed into Iraq as part of a pullout from northeastern Syria do not have permission to stay and can only be there in transit, Iraq's military said.

An Iraqi statement on Tuesday contradicted the Pentagon's announcement that all of the nearly 1,000 troops withdrawing from northern Syria are expected to move to western Iraq to continue the campaign against Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, or ISIS) and "to help defend Iraq".

"All US forces that withdrew from Syria received approval to enter the Kurdish region so that they may be transported outside Iraq. There is no permission granted for these forces to stay inside Iraq," the statement said.

Diaper rush: conquering a $9 billion market no one wants to talk about
CHICAGO/TOKYO, (Reuters) - The time may not be far off when more adults need diapers than babies as the population grows older, potentially a huge opportunity for manufacturers of incontinence products - if they can lift the stigma that has long constrained sales.

The market for adult diapers, disposable underwear and absorbent pads is growing fast, up 9% last year to $9 billion, having doubled in the last decade, according to Euromonitor.

But manufacturers like market leaders Essity (ESSITYa.ST) and Kimberly-Clark Corp (KMB.N) reckon only half of the more than 400 million adults likely to be affected by weak bladders, are buying the right products, because they are too embarrassed.

Companies are trying various methods to change attitudes, including making products more discreet, avoiding terms like diapers or nappies, and placing items in the personal care aisle, next to deodorants and menstrual pads, rather than in the baby products section.

They are also trying to normalize discussions around the subject through advertising.

In Japan, where adult incontinence products have outsold baby diaper sales since around 2013 due to a rapidly ageing population, market leader Unicharm Corp (8113.T) has adopted the phrase "choi more" in its advertising, which translates as "lil’ dribble", to make light of the problem.

"What we are doing is trying to let people know that incontinence, even among young people, is normal," said Unicharm spokesman Hitoshi Watanabe.

CNN: Mexico Has Essentially Built Trump's Wall And Is Paying For It
[Red State] You may have noticed in reports about illegal immigration that there’s been a precipitous drop in apprehensions at the border. That’s not because there are fewer being caught, that’s because there are fewer coming across.

That’s in large measure due to the cooperation deal that President Donald Trump struck with Mexico.

In fact, even CNN has had to admit Trump’s success, as Newsbusters observed.

In an astonishing case of pigs flying, CNN actually ran article on Sunday by Catherine Shoichet and Natalie Gallón, "Why some say Mexico already built Trump’s wall ‐ and paid for it."

In it they note that Mexico has effectively built the wall, that Mexico by marshaling thousands of their troops to prevent people from coming in and not going north to the U.S. is acting as the wall itself.

Among the things they have done:

Stunning Snobbery: Former USDA Scientist Laments Agency's Move To Missouri As The Death Of Expertise
[Red State] If there is one good thing we can point to ‐ without question ‐ that Donald Trump has done for the American people it is expose the absolute and utter elitist snobbery of the D.C. intellectual/government class.

Case in point: a stunningly whiny and clueless op-ed in the Washington Post on Monday from a former USDA scientist complaining about the Department of Agriculture moving to Kansas City. Agriculture Secretary George Perdue announced last year that the agency would be moving in an attempt to get closer to the "stakeholders". The deadline has come and gone and, unsurprisingly, only 45 of the 568 employees have chosen to move with their employer.
What happened to the rest of them?
Andrew Crane-Droesch, who worked at the USDA until this year, was shocked and appalled at such a naked attempt to purge the agency of "undesirables".

Out of the blue, in August 2018, agriculture secretary George "Sonny" Perdue announced that my agency [would be moving]. He claimed that this would lower costs and bring us closer to "stakeholders." That stated justification was a fig leaf for the administration’s true intentions. We didn’t need to sit next to a corn field to analyze agricultural policy, and Perdue knew that. He wanted researchers to quit their jobs.

One hardly knows where to start with this blatant snobbery, it is so insanely condescending. Crane-Droesch uses scare quotes around "stakeholders" and therein lies the red flag that signals the tragic disconnect between the D.C. elite and the average American. He thinks it is some kind of propaganda tool. It doesn’t even occur to him that he actually works for those stakeholders. It should excite him to be closer to the people he is literally paid to serve.

Joni Ernst gets it.

#19  The FBI wants to tear down and rebuild the J.Edgar Hoover building. As a part of that,
In line with this plan to maximize space availability at FBI-owned locations, reduce overall costs, and leverage operational efficiencies, the FBI will be moving more than 2,500 positions—both employees and contractors—to its owned facilities across the nation, including Clarksburg, West Virginia; Huntsville, Alabama; Pocatello, Idaho; and Quantico, Virginia. It is anticipated that several hundred positions could be shifted to FBI facilities in Clarksburg, West Virginia, and Pocatello, Idaho, while the remainder would be realigned to Huntsville, Alabama. The FBI already has a substantial presence in each of these communities. The FBI first began operations in Pocatello in 1984 and Clarksburg in 1995. The FBI’s presence at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville dates back to the establishment of the Hazardous Devices School in 1971.

The elite war on democracy
h/t Instapundit
Often there seem to be international trends in response to historical forces, trends that then create their own historical forces. The age of 20th Century dictators, for example. Later, the resurgence of conservatism in Reagan and Thatcher. Then, a reaction by the left. And now we have the hand of elites clamping down on the unwashed populaces who would reduce their power.

In the US, it’s evidenced by the no-hold-barred fight to destroy Trump. In western Europe, there’s the EU against the people of many countries, in particular the UK’s Brexit movement. And in Israel there’s the prosecution of Netanyahu, which Caroline Glick describes this way:
See yesterday's full post
I note several things, one of which is the participation of Alan Dershowitz, who seems to be fighting this fight on several fronts. Another is the more general idea that one of the ways that the elites are fighting back is through lawfare (something we already know) but in particular through the redefinition of politics as a form of corruption. For those of whom they approve, no act is bad enough to prosecute, but for those they wish to remove, actions that would never have previously been defined as corrupt are now defined that way and the legal system is the means to accomplish their aims.
For example, the Israeli left's successful assassination of Ariel Sharon - causing him a stroke - by convicting and jailing his son for campaign finance violations that were ignored in the case of the Labor Party
This parallels the manner in which the legal system manned by liberal judges has been used to circumvent the people’s reluctance or slowness on certain issues in the recent past. One was abortion, of course. Another was gay marriage. State-by-state solutions and decisions were not allowed, and new constitutional rights were created by liberal justices impatient with the pace of change. The time-tested process of using amendments to the Constitution to effect change is considered too tedious and democratic as well.

#6  They're elites because they say so, and can say so ad nauseam thanks to their control of the culture: media, entertainment, sports, academia.

If you want to change the narrative you need to create a countervailing set of cultural institutions.

Not the odd blog, not one or two pastimes like NASCAR or country music, not a handful of small liberal arts colleges but dominant institutions that others will follow. Not Hillsdale but the Ivy-plus elite colleges. Not Instapundit but the NY Times.

If you want to smash the Deep State, get inside it and destroy it from within. Won't happen otherwise.

The Intelligence Community Should Welcome Bill Barr's Investigation If They Ever Want Another President To Trust Them
BLUF:
[Red State] All of the IC are not flaming liberals, but, over time, employing the strategy of Gramsci’s Long March Through the Institutions, the people in the IC who are devoted to the institutional prerogatives, or ’equities’ in today’s bureaucratic lexicon, are fairly fervent leftists. They meddled and interfered in the US political system the way no foreign power would ever dare. They worked directly with the media to undermine and discredit the President and any advisors perceived as loyal to him. They sabotaged policies. They worked to create the reason for a special counsel which they hoped would result in either impeachment or a single term of a harmless and emasculated Trump.

I think we’ve reached a point in the current administration where they would be idiots to rely upon very much that the intelligence community offers as legitimate advice and to view every action by the intelligence community as a potential act of sabotage or insubordination. How do you speak freely if you know your words will be in the Washington Post tomorrow? How do you accept analysis and advice, particularly when it conflicts with your gut instincts, if the people giving that advice and counsel are people you know who are trying to have you impeached? You can’t afford to. While you "may" make a bad call following your gut, the odds of that happening area lot less than listening to people who are your sworn enemies.

There is no way of knowing what Barr will find, but what we know with mathematical certainty is that any Republican president would be ill-advised to rely upon the current IC for advice. It has shown that it is relentlessly partisan and will not scruple at using it information and resources to damage a candidate or president it dislikes. Democrats should not be terribly sanguine about this. A President Sanders or President Gabbard would be treated just as harshly as President Trump.

Regardless of what Barr uncovers, there needs to be a thorough-going purge of the policy and management ranks with the IC and safeguards instituted to ensure that this never, ever happens again. The IC is not a branch of government. It should have no politics. If it is to have any value it is to serve all presidents loyally because only by being trusted by the president will it be able to carry out its primary mission of keeping the nation safe. And unless the IC can show that it shares that view, then we might as well shutter the place and start afresh.

Asian stocks climb, lifted by upbeat talk on China-US trade
BANGKOK (AP) ‐ Shares are gaining in Asia after upbeat comments from President Donald Trump and other U.S. officials on the status of trade negotiations with China.

The Kospi in South Korea led gains, jumping 1.3% to 2,090.88, thanks to gains in technology companies overnight on Wall Street. Australia’s S&P ASX 200 added 0.3% to 6,674.30. The Hang Seng in Hong Kong picked up 0.2% to 26,765.87, while the Shanghai Composite index slipped 0.1% to 2,936.99. India’s Sensex edged 0.1% higher to 39,320.90.

Shares rose in Taiwan, Bangkok and most of Southeast Asia.

Trump told reporters Monday that he was hoping to sign a trade deal with China next month at a summit in Chile, "or whenever that might be."

On again, off again talks on resolving a dispute over trade and China’s technology policies have dragged on for over a year, with both sides imposing billions of dollars’ worth of tariffs on each other’s goods. The most recent round, earlier this month in Washington, helped forestall a new round of tariff hikes on imports from China that would have escalated tensions.

Chelsea Clinton calls America 'not the country I want my kids to grow up in'
[American Thinker] Here's her talking about her mom and the country whose voters rejected her, in an appearance on The View, finishing up with not wanting her kids to be exposed to such a place:
"I am so proud of my mom. I’m very biased toward her...love her very much and feel very protective of her, although I know she doesn’t need me to be. But, really my most important role now is as my kids mom. You know I have a daughter Charlotte who just turned five last week, a son Aiden, he is three and baby Jasper just two months old," continued Chelsea Clinton. "And I think about the country they’re living in right now it’s not the country I want them to grow up in. We learned last night that President Trump wanted to dig a ditch at the border and put alligators and snakes and shoot migrants in the leg...The depth of cruelty and inhumanity towards migrants, towards people of color, towards LGBTQ community...is not the America I want my kids to grow up in."

Basically, because American voters rejected her mom and voted for her competition instead, the place now comes up short.
Chelsea Chubbell, Spawn of the turkey baster
See, it's only a worthy place worth living in if either her mom or some other leftist of her favor is steeped in power. Vote the wrong way and the place isn't good enough.

Which is redolent of Michelle Obama's famous 2008 statement to the press, commenting on the voter enthusiasm that her husband drew in his campaign appearances, that for the 'first time' in her life, she was 'proud' of her country.

Country good if Democrats are in the catbird seat, country bad if Democrats are out on their ear. There's no good country of its own accord, it's only good if its wearing leftist clothing at election time.

Which shows you the quintessential lefty loyalty to America, which is quite conditional: Leftists only like its leftwing parts, they don't like the country itself, which to freedom-hating leftists, is ultimately an abomination.

In Chelsea's case, it also shows what a spoiled brat she is.

Caribbean-Latin America
The Mexican State Is Collapsing
[The Federalist] The battle of Culiacan marks a turning point in the collapse of the Mexican state. There is now no doubt about who is in control of Sinaloa, let alone the rest of the country. Cartel forces seized a major regional capital city in broad daylight and defeated the national armed forces in open battle.

Violence is rampant across Mexico. Earlier in the week, more than one dozen police officers were massacred in a cartel ambush in western Mexico. A day later, 14 suspected gang members were killed by the Mexican Army. Homicides in Mexico this year are on track to surpass last year’s record total of more than 29,000.

Understand that the fighting in Culiacan is not just another episode in the "drug war," nor is it merely an incident of organized crime. What’s happening Mexico right now is more like an insurgency. Yes, drug-trafficking is one of the things the cartels do, but it doesn’t nearly describe what they are or what role they’re playing in the disintegration of civil society in Mexico. Indeed, over the past decade cartels have diversified their economic activities to include everything from oil and gas production to industrial agriculture to offshore commercial fishing.

In other words, it’s fair to say that Mexico is now on a trajectory to become a vast gangland governed more by warlordism than by the state. The last time this happened was a century ago, during the decade-long Mexican Revolution, which eventually triggered the invasion and occupation of northern Mexico in 1916 by the U.S. Army, including the mobilization of the entire National Guard and a call for volunteers. Before it was over, U.S. forces attacked and occupied Nogales, Sonora, in 1918 and Ciudad Juarez in 1919.

Historically, insurgent and secessionist movements have bedeviled Mexico from its very beginnings. Civil wars and rebellions were endemic in Mexico throughout much of the 19th century, ceasing only with the Porfiriato and resuming with its collapse in 1910.

What’s different today is that Mexico, despite its corrupt and incompetent government, has a rising middle class and a growing economy. Unlike the Mexican state, the Mexican people have shown themselves to be more than capable of industrious and liberal self-government, not just in the success millions of them have achieved in the United States but also in the success of local governments throughout the country.

Set against the Mexican people is a Mexican state incapable of governing and a cartel insurgency that now controls vast swaths of both territory and industry. President Lopez Obrador will not push back on the cartels. He has never said a bad word about El Chapo or the Sinaloa Cartel, and even campaigned for cartel amnesty in 2017, but he does have a long history of associating his political rivals with organized crime.

He has said he wants to tackle the "root causes" of crime and violence, which he has said are poverty and lack of opportunity, and campaigned for president on slogans such as "hugs, not gunshots," and "you can’t fight fire with fire." In short, Lopez Obrador is not the man to rescue Mexico from the unfolding crisis.

Mexico sends in troops after failed 'El Chapo' son arrest
Does someone down there read Rantburg?
[DW] Mexico has dispatched over 400 elite troops to patrol the northern city of Culiacan after a failed attempt
...Curses! Foiled again!...
to arrest the son of drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman left eight dead last week.
See "Barn Door - closed too late"
During the operation last Thursday, heavily-armed members of Guzman's Sinaloa cartel launched an assault on security forces who had detained Ovidio Guzman, later prompting them to release him and retreat.

Mexico's defense minister admitted that the operation was "badly planned," while Attorney General Alejandro Gertz announced on Monday that he would investigate those involved, including government officials.

"It is not just about the actions of one public servant or one criminal. We will be analyzing all the facts ... to clarify what crimes may have been committed, then prosecute and punish them, without exception," Gertz told a news conference.

PRESIDENT DEFENDS RELEASE
President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has stood by the decision to release Ovidio Guzman, saying that many people would have otherwise been killed.

"Not just the criminals, who are also human beings, the soldiers, who we must protect, but [also] civilians," he said.

During the festivities, cartel members set up roadblocks, set fire to trucks and used military-style weapons.

The government later seized a belt-fed machine gun, seven hand grenades, eight assault rifles and 20 vehicles.

Mexican and US officials also met on Monday to discuss curbing gun smuggling across the border, with Mexico's foreign minister saying many of the guns used in the Culiacan assault were made in the United States.

CONFIDENCE WAVERING IN GOVERNMENT
Although the public appears to be split on whether security forces made the right call in letting Ovidio Guzman go, national polls show confidence in the government is lagging.

In a survey by polling firm GCE, over 63% of respondents said they believed narcos and cartels were more powerful than the government.

In a poll by newspaper Reforma, nearly 70% of respondents said gangs were strengthened by what happened during the botched arrest attempt.

The target in Thursday's raid, 28-year-old Ovidio Guzman, is one of at least 10 children fathered by drug kingpin "El Chapo" Guzman. "El Chapo" is currently serving a life term in the US after being convicted in July for trafficking hundreds of tons of drugs.

The same day he was on the Senate floor fronting about “honor” and “betrayal” there was a civil war breaking out in Mexico, yet Mitt couldn’t spare a second to fight to secure our own border. Every year, our open border literally kills thousands of Americans, via criminals and fentanyl. That’s what we’re interested in, not refereeing between tribes on the other side of the globe.

#16  Legalize drugs and all of this goes away.

In effect, that's what they've done in San Francisco and Los Angeles. So I guess you're OK with homeless meth freaks and fentanyl addicts peeing and pooping on your sidewalks, sleeping in you doorways, spreading Third World diseases and dying in the streets. Here, check it out. It doesn't go away, it vomits on your shoes.

They'll sell it to school children, you know, just like the cotton candy flavored vapor. You'll have little kids passing out on the playgrounds and dying before the paramedics can get to them.

You've heard about the opioid epidemic, right? All the people dying from overdoses of oxycodone? You want that stuff to be available over the counter at your local Walgrens? We're not talking about beer or marijuana. This stuff is death in a pill. You don't care if these people die, if their children become orphans? You don't care what it does to their families, friends and businesses? You don't care what it does to our country? Oh well, shit happens.

And then the Guzmans will become respectable just like the Kennedy's did after Prohibition was repealed. Or they go into other businesses like prostitution and gambling. Then they buy entire cities like Las Vegas, not to mention politicians. Ovidio could become Mexico's next president. Imagine that guy sitting in the Oval Office during a state visit with President Ocasio-Cortez. El Chapo will be released from federal prison and he'll be there too, smiling for the cameras. That the kind of world you want?

But then, eventually, the pendulum swings the other way. Red necks, homophobics, xenophobics, mysoginist and all the other deplorables get sick of it, get angry and go on the rampage. Read about the Boxer Rebellion in China where the government was so weak that Europeans were calling all the shots, only here it'd be Chinese calling all the shots. The result is chaos and the bodies pile up. That's when it finally goes away.

Would Mexico be exploding with violence and exporting their problems to America?

Would our prisons be exploding with inmates?

Would our law enforcement have been corrupted with seizure laws?

You have to look at *just how bad* the current situation is. Literally anything would be an improvement. We fought the drug war. Time to admit it's not working.

Phaick Uneretle6310, Herb McCoy has broken no laws by having and stating that opinion, nor have I seen any indication that he plans to act on that opinion, since that would require supporting certain Democratic politicians. On the contrary, the statement of the extreme of a theoretical position held by a number of Rantburgers resulted in thoughtful discussion of its flaws.

There is nothing to report to the DEA or any other law enforcement agency on the subject as a result. Your brother, I suspect, would not be happy to be distracted from his real work to follow up on such claims. Please do thank him from me for stepping forward to shield us from those who do not hold back from doing real harm, as do and have quite a few Rantburgers in a variety of capacities over the years.

Fix the West Bank fence, local leaders urge Netanyahu
[Ynet] Heads of regional councils plead with PM to repair breaches in West Bank security barrier, warning it is no longer effective in preventing terror attacks, say appeals to the military have gone unanswered.

The heads of local municipalities in the center and north are pleading with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to tackle a real threat to citizens living close to the West Bank security barrier after multiple gaps in the fence were found.

The request by the heads of seven local councils says: "We are disturbed and worried about a severe security breach in our communities and against our residents, given the number and scale of the breaches in the separation fence, with infuriatingly easy crossings receiving with no answer or response from the military."

Construction on the fence began in 2002 during the wave of deadly terror attacks of the Second Intifada. The barrier, which is made of concrete in some areas and wire fencing in others, runs along the border and into the West Bank to include settlements.

The local leaders stress that while the erection of the fence initially created a sense of security, the barrier has now lost its deterrence to the extent that it is failing to prevent terrorist attacks.

The letter cites an incident in August, when a terrorist crossed the fence at Kibbutz Magal and was caught on his way to carry out an attack in the nearby city of Hadera.

"We call upon you as prime minister and defense minister to act quickly to restore peace and security to the (West Bank) border towns," the local leaders say.

Menashe Regional Council head Ilan Sadeh said: "I remember in the early 2000s when we fought for the fence to be built. The fence was erected, millions were invested and we did feel much safer afterwards

"We demand that the government close the breaches in the fence. Deploy army units to patrol up and down as they used to to keep the people safe. Why was so much money invested in this fence - because of terrorist attacks," he said.

Five booked in Sahiwal for kidnap and rape of transperson
[DAWN] Harappa police claimed to have booked on Sunday five people for kidnapping and raping a transgender at gunpoint a month ago near village Dhoop Sari.

A Kamalia-based transgender person had been allegedly tortured and raped at gunpoint by two men on the night of Sept 20. The district police officer (DPO) ordered registration of a first information report (FIR) allegedly because the Harappa police were reluctant to listen to the victim.

Another transperson, Binyamin, claimed that while Harappa police registered an FIR against two nominated and three unidentified people, they were reluctant to arrest the culprits.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Mukhtar Ahmed confirmed to Dawn that no arrests had been made so far. On the delayed registration of a case, Harappa Station House Officer Zeeshan claimed that the transperson approached them late.

On Sept 20, four transgender persons from Kamalia had been booked by Zulfiqar for a show at the Mai Maseet Wali Mela in village Dhoop Sari. The group was led by ‘S’. After the show when the group was travelling to Jhang in a car, they were intercepted by five armed men at 2am. They pulled ‘S’ out of the car and took her to a nearby farmhouse. The transperson alleged that she was tortured and raped by two men while three armed men stood guard. They kept her detained for three hours.

The suspects dropped off ‘S’ to Sahiwal city, 20 kilometres from the farmhouse. Later, she was picked up by her colleague Binyamin, who was waiting for her at the festival venue where they had performed.

Binyamin and ‘S’ along with other transpersons approached Harappa police and reported the incident. “Harappa police was reluctant to register a rape case,” alleged Binyamin, adding that they had succeeded in getting a medical certificate, which confirmed rape. They finally approached the Sahiwal DPO on whose directions a rape case was registered late on Saturday. Police booked five people, out of whom two were nominated.

Polygraph, DNA tests of suspects planned in boy’s murder case in Rawalpindi
[DAWN] Police have decided to conduct polygraph and DNA tests of five suspects already detained in connection with the death of a nine-year-old boy.

Naveed Khan, a student in the second grade, was found dead in the fields in Shah Khalid Colony, Rawalpindi, seven days after he disappeared on Oct 10.

Sources said that one of the suspects, who remained absconding for a long time, had a history of abusing children.

They said that the suspect had been missing from his home since the police launched a manhunt and they finally picked him up from Gujar Khan.

Superintendent of Police Potohar Syed Ali told Dawn that the police had also received the initial postmortem report which didn’t mention the cause of death. However,
a woman is only as old as she admits...
the final autopsy report will be completed after forensic report is received, he said.

Mr Ali said that the initial postmortem report did not verify whether the boy was subjected to a sexual assault.

Ajmair Khan, father of the dear departed, told Dawn that the killers of his son would be arrested as the police had been using all tactics.

The police have also decided to launch an intelligence gathering operation by using young police officials in different guises and deploying them in a particular area to trace the killer.

Cabinet approves summary to ban JUI-F's ‘militant wing’
[DAWN] The federal cabinet on Monday approved a summary seeking a ban on the "militant wing" of the Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...the political wing of the Pak Taliban...
-Fazl (JUI-F), sources in the cabinet division said.

According to the sources, the summary, moved by the interior ministry, was approved through circulation just a day ahead of a cabinet meeting. The government took the measure to avoid a discussion on the matter in the cabinet, the sources added.

Under the Rules of Business, 1973, a summary is sent to cabinet members who sign the copy to give their approval, but under this circulation method, the summary is also deemed approved after a stipulated period of time even if the cabinet members haven't signed it.

Last week, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan had said that the federal cabinet would take up the matter in its next meeting.

The interior ministry in its summary sent to the cabinet had said: "Various source reports shared by our intelligence agencies and provincial governments with the Ministry of Interior [have] revealed that the JUI-F has established a krazed killer wing, a private militia/Razakar force named ’Ansar-ul-Islam’ to provide security to marchers for the Azadi March scheduled for October 27, 2019 and proposed sit-in in Islamabad from October 31, 2019."

According to the summary, a copy of which is available with Dawn, Ansar-ul-Islam is capable of functioning as a military organization, which is a violation of Article 256 of the Constitution.

The ministry said Ansar-ul-Islam was organised, trained and equipped and it was capable of being used to display physical force in promoting Azadi March and objectives of the JUI-F.

Turkey wants Erbil, Baghdad to collaborate on new border gate: Ambassador
[Rudaw] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
is keen to make progress on its long-desired second border crossing with Iraq in order to increase trade, Ankara’s ambassador to Baghdad told Rudaw in an interview.

The only official land border gate between Turkey and Iraq is at Ibrahim Khalil, in the Kurdistan Region near Duhok province’s Zakho and Turkey’s Sirnak. Ambassador Fatih Yildiz envisions a trade boost, including in Iraqi oil, if a new crossing is established.

"One border crossing with Iraq is not enough," Yildiz told Rudaw’s Rebaz Ali. Erbil and Baghdad have considered developing the Ibrahim Khalil gate, "but we need another border crossing as well," he said.

Baghdad has several times expressed the desire for a direct land link to Turkey, primarily to export oil. The issue has returned to the forefront as the Iraqi government looks for an alternate route for its oil exports apart from the problematic Strait of Hormuz.

Yildiz explained that talks between Baghdad and Ankara on the subject are positive. "Talks are ongoing with Iraq about the new border crossing, but it is very important for both Erbil and Baghdad to work together to open the new border crossing," he said.

The proposed new border crossing would also be located in Duhok province, according to Yildiz. The entire frontier between Iraq and Turkey lies within Kurdistan Region territory, putting control into the hands of the regional government.

In a meeting with Kadhim al-Aqaabi, chairman of the Iraqi Border Access Authority, on Monday, Yildiz stressed the importance of Baghdad and Erbil reaching a consensus on a second border crossing.

Trade between Iraq and Turkey suffered a setback during the war against the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. (ISIS
...embracing their inner Islamic Brute...
), totaling $16 billion in 2013, but has started to bounce back with the territorial defeat of the terror group.

In 2018, "Our trade with Iraq was $13 billion and we aim to increase our trading with Iraq," Yildiz said in the interview.

"Turkey is exporting 3,000 different products into Iraq," Yildiz confirmed. This is despite a ban from Baghdad on some imports. Iraq has banned imports of many agricultural products including eggs and chickens in order to support and protect domestic food production.

In January, Iraqi President Barham Salih visited Ankara and met with his Ottoman Turkish counterpart His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
who said he wanted to see trade increase to $20 billion.

Turkey is also an important trading partner for the Kurdistan Region, which relies on its neighbour for trade, investment, and oil sales. Like Iraq, the Kurdistan Region’s economy is weighted heavily in favor of foreign imports of food and consumer goods, paid for with oil wealth.

Illegal Alien, Previously Deported Five Times, Gets Ten Years
[TOWNHALL] Without a wall, a deported criminal can reenter the country and resume their life of crime. Take the recent example of Antonio Serrano-Perez, a career criminal who was first deported back in October 1998.

For the last 20 years, Serrano-Perez was repeatedly deported to Mexico following convictions for violent crimes and drug-trafficking offenses. In May 2019, Serrano-Perez pleaded guilty to reentering the country once again and was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison by Senior U.S. District Judge John H. McBryde.

Palestinian Authority to block dozens of news sites affiliated with Hamas
[Ynet] The Paleostinian Authority has decided Monday to block 59 Paleostinian news sites in the West Bank, mainly those affiliated with Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", and originating in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip.

The Ramallah court made the decision based on the attorney general's demand that the continued publication of these sites constitutes a disturbance to security and public order and threatens public safety.

Hamas attacked the move, saying that "the Paleostinian Authority is burying its head in the sand in its attempts to prevent freedom of expression and return the national press to a dark era".
Update at 8:15 p.m. EDT: the Times of Israel has more here. This kind of thing is apparently a bit of a tradition in Mahmoud Abbas’s West Bank.

The Clock Is Running Out For Impeachment
[The Federalist] According to multiple news outlets on Monday, House Democrats have conceded that they are very unlikely to conclude their impeachment inquiry and vote on articles by Thanksgiving, their original preferred timeline. They cited scheduling difficulties and new evidence of potential wrong doing by the White House as main reasons for the delay.

Democrats now say that they hope to be ready for a vote by Christmas, but waiting that long to resolve the matter in the House and send it over to the Senate is rife with problems, which was why Democrats wanted it to be wrapped up by Thanksgiving in the first place. If articles of impeachment were passed near Christmas, the Senate would be unable to begin a trial until inside of one month before the Iowa caucus on Feb, 3rd.

With 5 of the top Democratic contenders serving currently in the Senate, an impeachment trial could badly gum up the works in the Democratic primary.

Trump might expose whistleblower, Schumer tells Intel officials
[POLITICO] As President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
continued his attacks on the Ukraine whistleblower on Monday, Chuck Schumer
...Senator-for-life from New York, renowned for his love of standing in front of cameras. Schumer has been a professional politician since 1975, when disco was in flower, which is 43.87606589775522 years. Senate minority leader as of 2017...
is asking the intelligence community what is being done to protect the source from harm.

The Senate Minority leader asked both the acting director of national intelligence and the inspector general on Monday afternoon to outline what "specific steps" they are taking to protect the whistleblower. Schumer said his understanding is the unidentified individual is receiving some security but said that he fears "safety risks may intensify in the event that the whistleblower’s identity is disclosed."

"In light of the President’s ill-advised statements, his lack of respect for the rule of law and his well-documented habit of condoning violence by his supporters, I am concerned that he may disclose the whistleblower’s identity or cause it to be disclosed by others in the administration," Schumer wrote in a letter to acting DNI Joseph Maguire and IG Michael Atkinson. "If that were to happen, it will be your responsibility to take immediate action to protect the whistleblower from both workplace reprisal and threats to his or her personal safety."

Booker: ‘Having a Sound Mind’ I Will Restore Dignity Lost Under Trump’s Leadership
[BREITBART] Sunday on MSNBC, 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Cory Spartacus Booker
U.S. Senator-for-Life from Noo Joisey, formerly the mayor of Newark. Booker is a candidate for president in 2020, running on a platform of Make America Newark. He once wrote an essay on how to grope babes. He is noted for having an imaginary friend named T-Bone...
(D-NJ) said his "sound mind" will restore the dignity America lost under the leadership of President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
.Booker said, "I have to say that this is going to have repercussions that are going on for years now. Having a sound mind and commitment to our values, I know what I will bring to that office, not only restoring dignity at home but rejoining with our allies in a concerted effort to create peace not just in that region but to deal with so many other growing, looming challenges."
"I am fiercely heterosexual! I AM SPARTACUS!"
He added, "The re-election of Donald Trump means our chances of dealing with global climate change have been dramatically reduced. The re-election of Donald Trump means we are going to continue to see America more isolated from other nations and we will see more influence by nations like Russia who are causing trouble not just in the Middle East but undermining western democracy from Lithuania to the Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an Union. So I am looking forward to being commander-in-chief to begin to bring a sound policy, a stronger alliance and make sure that we are leading with our values in a world that desperately needs more American leadership, not Trump leadership but the kind of American leadership that we are ‐ that the rest of the country, as I talk to world leaders are yearning to see again from this nation."

-Land of the Free
Soros-Linked Group Targets Local Sheriffs And DAs To Thwart Immigration Enforcement
This where the rubber meets the road.

Hurdurring about Muh Prinzupuulz all the livelong day won't matter a bit when the Left gets full control of what the Soviets called "the organs".

But I'm sure all those folks heading here from Guat and El Salvador, etc. are all well-versed in Burke and Locke and Madison and von Mises.

So it's all good!

[ConservativeReview] A left-wing criminal justice advocacy group with ties to George Soros is targeting nearly 500 prosecutor and sheriff elections across America in 2019 to install leftist local officials who will be soft on crime and refuse to cooperate with U.S. immigration enforcement.

The Appeal: Political Report has published a list of elections, filing deadlines, and voting dates to raise awareness for local elections for positions that are “responsible for setting a wide range of policies that impact detention conditions, incarceration rates, cooperation with ICE, and more.” The group is drawing special attention to populous counties where local elected officials will decide whether to participate in Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s 287(g) program, a Trump administration initiative to partner state and local law enforcement with ICE to enforce immigration law and deport illegal aliens.

The Appeal: Political Report is a publication of the Justice Collaborative, a project of Tides Advocacy, which is an affiliate of the Soros-funded Tides Foundation. The Tides Foundation has supported numerous left-wing criminal justice reform initiatives, including restoring voting rights to convicted felons in Virginia. These left-wing dark money groups support sanctuary city policies and want to elect local officials who will terminate contracts with ICE.

“These elections could expand the successes achieved in 2017 and 2018 by organizers looking to transform the criminal justice system and law enforcement practices,” editor Daniel Nichanian writes for The Appeal: Political Report.

“As of November, 78 jurisdictions had 287(g) contracts with ICE, a partnership that deputizes local law enforcement to act like federal immigrants agents. Three have since quit as a result of the 2018 elections. Will more follow after 2019?” he asks.

More following is the goal. In addition to this group, progressive billionaire George Soros has been financially backing left-wing local candidates across America to radically change local criminal justice policy. Michele Hanisee, president of the Association of Los Angeles Deputy District Attorneys, recounted in an article how Soros-backed district attorney candidates “have engaged in wholesale purges” of law enforcement personnel to “change the culture” of local law enforcement departments to fit Soros’ anti-incarceration agenda.

The consequences of these soft-on-crime, illegal immigrant-tolerant policies can be deadly. In King County, Washington, an illegal immigrant alleged gang murderer was held in police custody four times without being turned over for deportation because local officials ignored ICE detainers. This same sanctuary county released a criminal alien accused of stabbing a man in front of his son. In Maryland, Montgomery County has become notorious for releasing accused sex offenders with ICE detainers instead of cooperating with ICE and turning these individuals over for deportation.

The Left is taking these local elections seriously. They understand the power district attorneys and sheriffs have in determining policy and assisting or thwarting President Trump’s immigration enforcement agencies. If conservatives want to see the rule of law maintained and criminal illegal aliens kept off the streets, we need to take these local elections seriously too.

[DAWN] The Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz said on Monday that retired captain Mohammad Safdar, son-in-law of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif

Mitt Romney Caught with Secret ‘Pierre Delecto’ Twitter Account to Champion Himself
More on this story from yesterday.
[BREITBART] Sen. Willard Mitt Romney
...former governor of Massachussetts, the Publican nominee for president in 2012, now Senator from Utah. He is the son of the former governor of Michigan, George Romney, who himself ran for president after saving American Motors from failure, though not permanently. Romney has a record as a successful businessman, heading Bain Capital, and he rescued the 2002 Winter Olympics from the midst of bribery and mismanagement scandals. He is currently a member of the Never Trump Party and is attempting to assume the mantle of the late John McCain...
(R-UT) has been caught using the pseudonym "Pierre Delecto" to defend his own honor on Twitter.

Everything about this story says so much about Mitt Romney: his pettiness, his insecurity, his lack of character, honesty, and decency, starting with how it all unraveled: Romney doing business with the establishment media ‐ in this case, the far-left Atlantic and activist-news hound, McKay Coppins, who was originally hired at BuzzFeed to destroy Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign.

Back in 2011, Coppins was the affirmative-action hire of all affirmative-action hires. Determined to win Barack Obama
They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them...
a second term, BuzzFeed knew it needed a left-wing Mormon (or a "media-approved Mormon," as I dubbed him at the time) on the team, someone who could trash Romney without being called a religious bigot. Before the race was over, among other things, Coppins accused Romney of ginning up a "race war" over his welfare reform proposals.

Moreover, Coppins is not terribly bright. That might seem unfair, but how else to describe a man who assured the world Evan McMullin "is on the verge of beating Trump and Clinton in deep-red Utah" as he’s "literally building a new party." Spoiler Alert: Trump won Utah by 18 points and McMullin is now a punchline. How else to describe a man who declared in 2014: "Trump very badly wants to be taken seriously as a potential political candidate and not be written off as a man-boy who cried wolf. But, at the same time, he plainly has no interest in actually running for office." Spoiler Alert: Trump is the President of the United States.

Anyway, like an abused spouse, Romney continues to cuddle up to his media abusers, people who treated him much worse than Trump ever has. It’s a clinical condition known as McCain Syndrome, and there’s no known cure.

Ailing Nawaz rushed to hospital for check-up
[DAWN] Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif

was shifted to Services Hospital late on Monday night after his condition deteriorated which was confirmed by his fresh examination conducted by the government.

The National Accountability Bureau, Lahore, took the decision to shift him to hospital for a medical check-up in light of his fresh reports. "For the medical check-up of Nawaz Sharif, NAB is shifting him to the Services Hospital," a bureau’s front man said, adding doctors would decide about his admission (to the hospital).

Dr Adnan Khan, a personal physician of Mr Sharif, earlier in the evening raised an alarm about his deteriorating health, urging the Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf

government to immediately shift him to hospital for treatment.

"Former PM #NawazSharif is detected to have critically low Platelet Count (16*10^9/L) that could be due to multiple pathologies & requires immediate in-hospital care. I have requested the authorities concerned to act in urgency," Dr Adnan Khan tweeted after seeing the PML-N supremo at NAB’s Thokar Niaz Baig office.

"Today met former PM #NawazSharif for consultation & evaluation. He’s visibly unwell & has multiple serious life-threatening health issues of acute nature. I have recommended immediate hospitalisation for workup & treatment. The matter is of utmost urgency," Dr Khan said.

Dick Morris: ‘If You Feel a Pulse, You Know Hillary’s Going to Run’
[BREITBART] During Sunday’s broadcast of "The Cats Roundtable" on New York AM 970 radio, political commentator and former Bill Clinton

adds her name to the crowded field of 2020 Democratic presidential candidates.

Host John Catsimatidis asked Morris if there are any candidates out there who have yet to announce a run that he could see running.

Morris said as long as Clinton has a "pulse," there is a good chance she is going to run.

"I think it’s always possible that Hillary runs," Morris stated. "You know, John, there’s a test you can do at home. Just put your fingers on her wrist, and if you feel a pulse, you know she’s going to run."

Morris went on to say he believes Warren gets the nomination, which he explained would be bad news for the Democratic Party looking to take down President Donald Trump
...Oh, noze! Not him!...
"I think Warren will still win. And I think Trump will still beat the daylights out of her, But this Democratic process isn’t over yet," he advised.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran Says Turkish Bases in Syria Would Be 'Unacceptable'
In which yet another player enters the game.
[AnNahar] Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
on Monday denounced as "unacceptable" any move by The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
to establish military bases in Syria, saying such a step would face opposition from the Islamic republic and other countries.

President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
said on Friday that Turkey would set up 12 observation posts inside Syria as he warned Ankara would restart an operation against Kurdish forces across the border.

Iran's foreign ministry front man Abbas Mousavi criticised the planned move in response to a question at a news conference.

"The Turks can have any bases and can do anything on their own territory and within their borders, but if you mean... establishing Ottoman Turkish bases in Syria, this is unacceptable," Mousavi said in remarks aired on state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?

Such a step, he said, would be seen by Iran as an "aggression against the national illusory sovereignty and territorial integrity of an independent country.
*SNORT*
"Naturally it will face opposition from the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran and other countries," Mousavi added.

Iran has repeatedly called for an immediate halt to the Ottoman Turkish offensive in Syria, launched on October 9 after the United States announced it would withdraw all its troops from the area.

A US-brokered ceasefire gives Kurdish forces until Tuesday evening to withdraw from a buffer area Turkey wants to create on Syrian territory along its southern frontier.

In his remarks on Friday, Erdogan said the proposed "safe zone" would be 32 kilometres (20 miles) deep, and 444 kilometres in length, and patrolled by Turkey.

But, he said, "We have no intention to stay there. This is out of the question."

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Illegal Alien Charged with Murdering Four Americans Unfit for Death Penalty Due to Low IQ
[BREITBART] An illegal alien accused of murdering four Americans over the course of a week in Nevada is set to claim that he is "intellectually disabled" in order to avoid the death penalty
.

Wilbur Ernesto Martinez-Guzman, a 20-year-old illegal alien from El Salvador, was charged with murdering 56-year-old Connie Koontz, 74-year-old Sophia Renken, 81-year-old Gerald David, and his 80-year-old wife, Sharon David, between January 10 and 15 after prosecutors said he was looking to steal money from his victims to buy more meth. The state of Nevada is seeking the death penalty.

To avoid the death penalty, though, Martinez-Guzman will seek to the deemed "intellectually disabled" which would make him ineligible for the death penalty, the News Agency that Dare Not be Named reports:

[Public defenders] say information gathered so far shows [Martinez-Guzman’s] IQ is much lower than originally believed and that he may have been exposed to pesticides and fertilizers while working in farm fields in his native country.

"Based on the investigation to date, there is a good faith basis to believe that Mr. Guzman is ineligible for the death penalty because he may be intellectually disabled. There could be no greater insult to public justice that to execute someone that as a matter of law is ineligible for capital punishment," Washoe County Public Defender John Arrascada wrote in the Oct. 4 motion.

So far, prosecutors have said there is not enough evidence to rule out the death penalty for Martinez-Guzman. The illegal alien’s attorneys are looking to have the trial moved to February 2021 despite the current trial date of April 2020.

Illegal aliens charged with murder have routinely been using the "intellectually disabled" defense to avoid being put to death. In the case of illegal alien gang member Apolinar Altamirano, who allegedly murdered 21-year-old Grant Ronnebeck in January 2015, was able to be deemed "intellectually disabled" in order to avoid the death penalty.

Among those allegedly murdered by Martinez-Guzman was Connie Koontz, a mother, whose mother’s 80th birthday was the following day. Koontz, herself, was set to turn 57 five days after her murder. A GoFundMe page has been created to help the Koontz family in the wake of her murder.

Also allegedly murdered was 74-year-old Sophia Renken, as well as Gerald and Sharon David, who were both beloved members of the South Reno community. Gerald was president of the Reno Rodeo Association in 2006 and Sharon was a member of the group.

ISIS attack kills two security forces near northern Iraqi oilfields
[Jpost] Two members of Iraq's security forces were killed and three maimed when Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
forces of Evil attacked checkpoints in the Allas oilfields area of the northern Salahuddin province on Monday, the military said in a statement.

The Allas oilfield, 35 km (20 miles) south of Hawija, was one of the main sources of revenue for Islamic State, which in 2014 declared a caliphate in parts of Iraq and Syria.

Iraq declared victory over the hardline Sunni forces of Evil in late 2017 after pushing them out of all territory it held in the country. They have since reverted to hit-and-run insurgency tactics aimed at destabilizing the government in Baghdad.

"Elements of the terrorist ISIS

gangs attacked two security checkpoints in the Alas oilfields area of Salahuddin province, and an improvised bomb blew up a vehicle belonging to security forces stationed there, leading to the martyrdom of two of them," the statement said.

Militants also opened fire on the security forces who attempted to evacuate the bodies, injuring three more.

A joint force consisting of regular troops and mostly Iran-backed Shi'ite paramilitary groups known as the Popular Mobilisation Forces is pursuing the attackers, the statement said.

Local officials said that festivities are ongoing 5 km away from the district governor’s compound and police headquarters.

Khetab Khanjari, the provincial police chief, said that Afghan security force commandos were deployed by air on Sunday and seven of them have been killed, along with eight regular security force troops and five police.

"At least 18 Taliban were killed, and 22 others were maimed in the past 48 hours," he said.

Khanjari claimed that the Taliban had already "taken heavy casualties" before the recent flare-up, referring to previous fighting in the area that started over two weeks ago.

Speaking at a naming ceremony for the police academy, now named for slain General Abdul Raziq, Andarabi said that the Taliban’s Alfath operation was a failure.

Andarabi said that security forces stopped the Taliban from reaching its goals.

"Afghanistan security forces gave rough lessons to the Taliban this year, and the operation launched by the Taliban....did not gain any new territory but instead faced intense resistance by security forces, said Andarabi.

Farid Afzali, commander of the newly-named General Abdul Raziq academy, said that now soldiers will graduate from the school with courage and the vision of Abdul Raziq.

"By naming a police academy in the name of the martyr Abdul Raziq, I wish that the new generation of police would make Raziq their role model and we will see hundreds of new Abdul Raziqs rise in the ranks of the police," said Farid Afzali, the commander of General Abdul Raziq academy.

Britain
UK: 20-strong Gang Target ‘White Bastards’, Cut Off Teenager’s Hand with Axe
[BREITBART] A 20-strong gang set upon four tree surgeons in Rochdale, England, calling them "white bastards" and cutting off a teenage worker’s hand with an axe. 27-year-old Habibur Rahman, of Milnrow Road, Rochdale, gathered the mob after the workers had stopped him from abusing an elderly woman, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Rahman, incensed that he had been "disrespected" on his "territory", tracked the four workers to the property they were working on in the rape gang blighted city, blocking them in by parking his car across the driveway while the mob approached armed with weapons including a claw hammer, knives, machetes, a knuckle-duster ‐ and the fateful axe.

"I am not going to let them leave," Rahman said from his car, abusing the workers as "white bastards" who were in his "country", the court heard.

"They’re going to get what they deserve. They’re going to get stabbed."

One of the workers, who was just eighteen years old, interposed himself as a "peacemaker", "completely defenceless" ‐ only for the member of Rahman’s mob armed with the axe, Mohammed Awais Sajid, or ’Skinny’, to suddenly slam the weapon into the young man’s chest, smashing through his ribs and collapsing a lung.

"[Sajid] followed up with a 360 degree spin of his arm, an act which was doubtless employed to enhance the speed and devastation of the attack," recalled prosecutor Tim Storrie.

"The blow itself was aimed at the victim’s head. He was dimly aware at this stage of the weeping of blood down into his waistband. He was turning his body, attempting to leave the scene.

"Through good fortune, he said he realised the axe was above him aiming for his head. He put his arm up to defend himself and the blade essentially severed his arm at the wrist."

The dreadful incident was only brought to a close by one of the tree surgeons revving a chainsaw at the mob to scare them away ‐ although not before Rahman had shattered another worker’s nose with a knuckle-duster.

Their teenage victim had to be airlifted to hospital for life-saving emergency surgery and reattachment of his hand ‐ which will never be restored to its full function ‐ which has been followed by another five operations.

Incredibly, Sajid, of Moss Cottage, Kings Road, Rochdale, was acquited of attempted murder. MEN reports that he was instead convicted of a "section 18 wounding" and handed an 18-year term ‐ although there is no indication that this was anything other than a standard determinate sentence, meaning he will almost certainly be automatically released on licence at the halfway point, if not sooner.

Rahman himself was given a four-and-a-half-year term, while brother Zillur Rahma and mob member Arsan Ali each received four-year terms for conspiracy to commit violent disorder ‐ although again, it is standard practice in England that such terms are only served behind bars until their halfway point.

Nine other people investigated in relation to the case were released without charge.

Strangely, there is no mention in local news or a Greater Manchester Police force statement of the authorities treating the crimes of Rahman and his compatriots as racially aggravated ‐ which would attract tougher sentences ‐ despite his statements about the victims being "white bastards".

Indeed, Rahman claimed he had received racist threats from the tree surgeons ‐ claims the judge dismissed as a "pack of lies".

"The fact that a mob could be mobilised so quickly and so heavily-armed is clear evidence in my judgement that you are each associated with gang activity," the judge said, adding that none of them had shown "a shred of remorse" for the attack ‐ strong words which belie the weak sentences he handed down.

University dumps professor who found polar bears thriving despite climate change
[WASHINGTONTIMES] Nobody has done more to sink the claim that climate change is endangering polar bears than zoologist Susan Crockford ‐ and she may have paid for it with her job.

After 15 years as an adjunct assistant professor, Ms. Crockford said the University of Victoria rejected without explanation in May her renewal application, despite her high profile as a speaker and author stemming from her widely cited research on polar bears and dog domestication.

Ms. Crockford accused officials at the Canadian university of bowing to "outside pressure," the result of her research showing that polar bear populations are stable and even thriving, not plummeting as a result of shrinking Arctic sea ice, defying claims of the climate change movement.

Her dismissal, which she announced Wednesday in a post on her Polar Bear Science blog, has spurred alarm over the implications for academic freedom and the rise of the "cancel culture" for professors and scientists who challenge climate catastrophe predictions.

"When push came to shove, UVic threw me under the bus rather than stand up for my academic freedom," said Ms. Crockford, who earned a Ph.D. in interdisciplinary studies, specifically biology and anthropology, in 2004.

Pakistan to implement FATF action plan by February: Hafeez
[DAWN] Pakistain is committed to fully implementing its action plan to counter money laundering and terrorist financing by February next year and there’s no disagreement among various governments’ institutions on this matter, says Financial Adviser Abdul Hafeez Sheikh.
"We're gonna do it, you betcha! Pinkie swear!"
A global watchdog for money laundering and terrorist financing ‐ the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) ‐ gave Pakistain a four-month lifeline on Friday, urging Islamabad to fulfil its commitments by February 2020.

Speaking to the US-based Pak media on Sunday evening, Mr Sheikh also highlighted the government’s efforts to revive the national economy.

"Basically, all government institutions are on the same page on this issue. We will take the decisions that we need to fight money laundering and terrorist financing," said the adviser while responding to a question about the FATF deadline.

FATF also warned Pakistain that failing to fulfil its commitments to this international monitoring agency could put the country back on a list of jurisdictions branded as uncooperative and tax havens for terror funding.

Turkey detains three pro-Kurdish party mayors over 'terror' links
[AlAhram] Ottoman Turkish police on Monday detained three mayors from a main pro-Kurdish party on suspicions of "membership in a terror group" and "disseminating terror propaganda", the official Anadolu news agency reported.
"They posted on Rantburg.com"
The three local mayors from the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in Kayapinar, Bismil and Kocakoy in the Kurdish majority southeast, as well as the dismissed mayor of Diyarbakir, Selcuk Mizrakli, were taken as part of an investigation launched by prosecutors, Anadolu said.

The three -- members of the HDP elected in March -- were suspended over alleged ties to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) listed as a terror group by Ankara and its Western allies.

Feminist Backlash After Sanitary Pad Company Caves to Trans-Activists
*Sigh* This is why it is unwise for businesses to get involved in anything political.
[BREITBART] Women and several prominent feminists have called for a boycott of Always sanitary pads after it was revealed that the company decided to remove a female symbol from their products amidst pressure from transgender activists groups.

An 18-year-old British trans activist named Ben Saunders complained to Procter & Gamble (P&G), the maker of Always sanitary pads, saying that not everyone who menstruates identifies as female.

Another transgender activist, Melly Boom, tweeted that: “There are non-binary and trans folks who still need to use your products too you know!”

Procter & Gamble, the maker of Always, capitulated to the demands of the activists, announcing: “We are glad to inform you that as of December we will use a wrapper design without the feminine symbol.”

The decision to remove the ‘Venus’ symbol from the sanitary pad wrapper across Europe prompted widespread outrage from women, with some calling for a boycott of Always products.

Fire at Iran oil refinery raises further suspicions of Saudi retaliation
It looks like yesterday’s Zero Hedge article is confirmed.
[MIDDLEEASTMONITOR] A fire broke out on Saturday at Iran’s Abadan oil refinery located in the southwest of the country, although state media has reported that the fire was brought under control yesterday.

"The refinery’s fire department contained the fire and prevented it from spreading to other units," state broadcaster IRIB said on its website, referring to the incident which took place in a canal carrying waste from the refinery.

Footage circulating on social media shows a huge blaze which adds fuel to speculation that it could be a possible Dire Revenge attack by Soddy Arabia

Trudeau's Liberals to form Canadian minority government: CBC
[DAWN] Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's
...Canada’s very own Imran Khan...
ruling Liberals will form a minority government, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp projected on Monday after polls closed across the country.

The Liberals were leading or elected in 146 out of 304 electoral districts that had reported results by about 0230 GMT on Tuesday, the CBC said.

Trudeau needed to win 170 seats to secure a second majority government.

A minority government in the 338-seat House of Commons would leave Trudeau in a weakened position and needing the support of left-leaning opposition parties to push through key pieces of legislation.

Ahead of the vote, polls showed a neck-and-neck race across the country as Trudeau, who took power as a charismatic figure promising "sunny ways," battled Conservative leader Andrew Scheer for the chance to form the next government.

Trudeau, 47, the Liberal Party leader, was endorsed by former US President Barack Obama
I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody...
in the final stretch of the campaign and is viewed as one of the last remaining progressive leaders among the world's major democracies.

O's endorsement was almost enough to put Scheer in office. Were the voters trying to protect themselves from DS tool lefty doofus Trudeau?

There’s quite a bit to like about Schreer.

Scheer has described himself as focused on economic development, fiscal restraint, and reducing inefficiencies in government. A staunch opponent of the federal carbon tax, he has stated that he would balance the federal budget within two years of forming a government and open up the airline industry to foreign competition. Scheer has been likened to former Prime Minister Stephen Harper. On 27 May 2017, he was elected Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada—wiki

Thank heavens that I'm 168 years old (I feel that way most mornings) and will not have to watch the total destruction of what once was a thriving country.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Trump says some US troops staying in Syria after requests from Israel, Jordan
[IsraelTimes] US president says ’small number’ of American soldiers remain deployed on Syrian borders; second group stays to secure country’s oil fields.

US President Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
said Monday that a small number of US troops remain in Syria at the request of Israel and Jordan, with some positioned near the borders with Jordan and Israel and others deployed to secure oil fields.

"The other region where we’ve been asked by Israel and Jordan to leave a small number of troops is a totally different section of Syria, near Jordan, and close to Israel," Trump said when asked whether he would leave soldiers in Syria. "So we have a small group there, and we secured the oil. Other than that, there’s no reason for it, in our opinion."

Trump’s comments followed a US pullout from northeastern Syria, leaving the Kurds, America’s staunchest allies in the fight against Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, to face invading Ottoman Turkish forces.

Speaking at a cabinet meeting, Trump said the "small number" of US troops staying behind were in an entirely different part of Syria, near its border with Jordan and Israel.

He said another group still in Syria "secured the oil," a reference to oil fields that the US hopes to keep from falling into the hands of jihadist fighters.

"I always said if you’re going in, keep the oil," Trump said, suggesting that the US would "maybe get one of our big oil companies in to do it properly."

Trump said that otherwise US troops are "moving out nicely."

US Defense Secretary Mark Esper said earlier in Kabul, however, that the US withdrawal would take "weeks not days."

"We have troops in towns in northeast Syria that are located next to the oil fields. The troops in those towns are not in the present phase of withdrawal," Esper said.

Israelis have been watching Trump’s decisions on Syria closely, concerned that their country too could be abandoned by its most important ally.

Beyond that, Israel has longstanding concerns over whether its enemy Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. will move to fill any vacuum in neighboring Syria, where Tehran has been supporting Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Lord of the Baath...
in an eight-year-old civil war.

Netanyahu has been careful not to be seen as criticizing Trump, who has been a key supporter, but last week issued a statement saying Israel strongly condemned The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
’s "invasion of the Kurdish areas in Syria."

He also warned "against the ethnic cleansing of the Kurds by Turkey and its proxies."

Hosting US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday, Netanyahu thanked Pompeo and Trump for their "consistent support for Israel" and hailed the strength of US-Israel ties.

Commenting on the US-arranged ceasefire in Turkey’s offensive in Syria against Kurdish fighters, the prime minister said mildly that he hoped it would "turn out for the best."

's (D-Calif.) office on Monday released a "fact sheet" detailing allegations against President Trump amid House Democrats' ongoing impeachment inquiry.

"President Trump has betrayed his oath of office, betrayed our national security and betrayed the integrity of our elections for his own personal political gain," the document argues.

It goes on to list what Pelosi's office calls proof of a "pressure campaign" and "cover up" by Trump related to Ukraine. The sheet includes quotes from Trump and the anonymous whistleblower who filed a complaint regarding Trump's July 25 phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in which he pressed for an investigation into former Vice President Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden

Afghanistan
Speaker Pelosi, US Congress Delegation, Visits Kabul
[ToloNews] House Speaker Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi
Congresswoman-for-Life from the San Francisco Bay Area, born into a family of professional politicians. On-again-off-again Speaker of the House. It's not her fault when they lose, but it's her accomplishment when they win. Noted for her heavily botoxed grimace and occasional senior... uhhh... moments...
led a bipartisan congressional visit to Afghanistan on Sunday, her office said in a statement.

Pelosi and the delegation met with President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money...
, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah
...the former foreign minister of the Northern Alliance government, advisor to Masood, and candidate for president against both Karzai and Ghani. Dr. Abdullah was born in Kabul and is half Tadjik and half Pashtun. He also held the meaningless salaried sop position as CEO of Afghanistan, while Ghani was president...
, and "briefly compared notes" with Secretary Mark Esper, also in Kabul.

The delegation met with General Scott Miller, commander of US and NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Originally it was a mutual defense pact directed against an expansionist Soviet Union. In later years it evolved into a mechanism for picking the American pocket while criticizing the cut of the American pants...
troops in Afghanistan, as well as top diplomats, senior Afghan government officials, and civil society leaders, the statement said.

"Our delegation received briefings from Ambassador John Bass and other top diplomats on reconciliation efforts with the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
, which has been responsible for violent attacks in Afghanistan," said Speaker Pelosi’s statement. "We also heard more about the still-pending status of results from the Afghanistan presidential election in September, which we all hope will be available soon."

The delegation, in meetings with Ghani and Abdullah, discussed security issues and improving governance and economic development with Afghanistan.

"Our delegation emphasized the central importance of combating the corruption which endangers security and undermines the Afghan people’s ability to achieve a stable and prosperous future. We underscored that the women of Afghanistan must be at the table for reconciliation talks," the statement said.

The Pelosi-led delegation met with Afghan civil society leaders and Afghan women, and concluded:

"While Afghan women have made some progress in some areas, more work is needed to ensure their security and durable economic and educational opportunities for women and girls in Afghanistan," the statement said.

The delegation also traveled to Camp Morehead to meet with Resolute Support Mission troops, and Pelosi praised the courage of US troops and diplomats on the front lines.

The US has approximately 14,000 troops in Afghanistan as part of a training and advising mission, and to conduct counterterrorism operations against murderous Moslems.

US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper told the AP on Sunday that the number of US troops in Afghanistan could be reduced to 8,600‐and counterterrorist operations could be maintained‐but the reduction would have to coincide with a peace agreement.
