King Co. Executive defends Sanctuary Policies while kids are killed.
In which King County Executive Dow Constantine, tells everyone that the feelings of illegal aliens are far, far, more important then the lives of their kids.
[KOMONews] SEATTLE - Blowback is mounting over three separate murders that might have been prevented, but immigration officials say sanctuary policies got in the way.

The cases involve killings in South Park, Auburn, and Bellevue. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said the people who have been arrested are in the country illegally. ICE officials add that in the past they tried to take them into custody but local officials refused to help.

A man whose son was murdered said his boy might still be alive if King County officials had notified ICE when they had the chance.

Now, the ashes of Juan Carlos Con Guzman are the first thing his father sees when he walks through the front door.

"They take all my love. They broke my heart. Broke everything," said Juan Carlos Con Chiquin.

Before being arrested for murder, immigration officials said one of the men suspected in Guzman's death was in custody for auto theft. ICE asked the King County Jail to let them know when he'd be released. That notification never came and now Guzman is dead.

"They need to change a little bit," Chiquin said.

Because of his son, Chiquin believes local officials need to rethink sanctuary policies when it involves people who commit serious crimes.

There are two other homicide cases involving undocumented immigrants. One is charged with shooting into a home in South Park and killing a father as he sat on his couch. The third case led to a teenager being killed in a Bellevue park.

Bryan Wilcox, a deputy field officer director for ICE, said his agency sought detainers to hold the people involved before these crimes were committed but were ignored.

"In these circumstances, they (need to) work more hard and together," Chiquin said.

While these examples are tragic, sanctuary policies have also helped many immigrants illegal aliens feel more comfortable reaching out to police about threats in the community. reaching out and killing kids and others in the community. (FIFY) However, there is a feeling that some sort of balance needs to be struck. Ultimately, any change in King County would have to come from the county council.

King County Executive Dow Constantine released a statement:

"ICE is now on a public relations offensive against jurisdictions that follow the rule of law, alerting the media to instances when agents send civil Immigration Detainers that are prohibited by county policy.
A lie - ICE isn't asking for detention - but to be notified when they criminal is released. Never mind that federal law Trumps county policy.
ICE is fully aware that if they present a valid criminal warrant issued by a U.S. District Court Judge or Magistrate, the county would comply. To be clear, we do not hold people against their will in our detention facilities unless ordered to do so by a judge.
I'm sure all the criminals who you arrest, without a judges explicit orders, appreciate that. Why do you have that jail again?
We will continue to honor the Constitution, rather than the extrajudicial orders of any person, including the President."
Lets not mention that ICE isn't asking you to detain anyone - just let them know when they are being released. He knows this. King County Executive Dow Constantine is Lying - but then he's a Democrat.

#9  How about if conservatives funded a community administrated app to check this, tied up with ICE. The jails cannot deny any information requested by civs can they ? Besides, they wouldn't have to check with the prisons, just the county judges ordering the releases and update the db.

I may be ill informed about the specifics of how it works there, but the wily liberals would find a way for such a minor hassle. I think we can too ?

'Hey Poncho!' - Cocaine-Carrying Texas Dem Turns Himself In
Follow up to this story from a few days ago.
[Free Beacon] Texas Democratic state representative Alfonso "Poncho" Nevárez turned himself in Thursday after a video surveillance camera captured him dropping a cocaine-filled bag at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

"I do not have anyone to blame but myself," he said in a statement. "I accept this because it is true, and it will help me get better."

Nevárez was arrested and released with bond set at $10,000, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

Surveillance footage from Sept. 6 revealed that he had dropped "a white paper object" as he walked out of the airport. Two Texas Department of Transportation employees found the envelope, and a later investigation determined that it contained cocaine.

Nevárez, who announced earlier this month that he would not seek reelection, confirmed the news on Thursday.

"In a weird way I am grateful. Grief and addiction were consuming me, but oddly enough, I feel better now than I have in a long time, and I mean that," Nevárez said, adding he would seek treatment for his addiction.

Supreme Court Allows Victims Of Heart Disease, Obesity To Sue Utensil Manufacturer
[Babylon Bee] WASHINGTON, D.C.‐Acme Forks & Knives was trying to block a lawsuit brought against them by the obese community. The lawsuit suggested that the company's utensils were deadly tools that caused people to become overweight.

The Supreme Court has blocked the company's attempt to block the lawsuit, paving the way for victims of heart disease and other diet-related ailments to sue Acme.

"Finally---the big forks and knives lobby will be held accountable for contributing to heart disease and obesity, the leading causes of death among American adults," said a spokesperson for the oppressed obese community. "No human action leads to these deaths. It is entirely on the sentient utensils used to carry out the mass eating events."

"Blood is on their hands!" protesters cried. "Fight the corporate fork and knife lobby!"

Lawyers for the plaintiffs in these lawsuits have presented evidence that Acme Forks & Knives have marketed their utensils to the obese, specifically encouraging them to shovel a bunch of food in their mouths. They also said it was dangerous and irresponsible for the company to market a "fully automatic assault spork" that can shove "300 rounds of chili" into your face in under 10 seconds.

"Nobody needs that kind of forkpower," said one lawyer. "We will get justice for the obvious cause of this epidemic of deaths: the guys who make the utensils."

The West Was Never Really an Enemy of Soviet Communism
[The Mises Institute] Few remember him today, for reasons that should unsettle us all, but Vladimir Bukovsky was a hero from a dark age whose example confirms Mises’s motto, taken from the Aeneid: "Do not give in to evil, but proceed ever more boldly against it." Often glossed in the press as a "Soviet dissident," Bukovsky was infinitely more important. He took on the entirety of the Communist behemoth and lived to see it fall ‐ only to watch pieces of it rise again, he claims, and all with the conniving of the West.

Vladimir Konstantinovich Bukovsky seemed destined to be a dissenter. The son of true-believer communists, Bukovsky realized at age ten, when Stalin died, that a mortal god was no god at all. He began to distrust the propaganda of the Soviet state. Apparently preternaturally incapable of lying, to others or, most important, to himself, Bukovsky refused to acquiesce in the quiet suicide of the conscience that is the necessary condition for any totalitarian government to succeed. As an undergraduate, Bukovsky began taking part in public demonstrations against the Soviet regime, after which he was marked for life as an enemy of the state.

Bukovsky embraced this role. Like a handful of others ‐ Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, of course, and poets Anna Akhmatova and Osip Mandelstein, to name just a few ‐ Bukovsky valued integrity above all else. He knew that communism was a lie and that everyone complicit with it was a liar, and he would not be a part of any of it. Tortured, imprisoned, subjected to psychological torment and physical deprivation, Bukovsky didn’t yield. He went on hunger strikes, published samizdat that circulated widely inside and outside of the Soviet Union, and made it the purpose of his life to tell everyone, everywhere: man must be free, and freedom and truth are ultimately the same thing.

Bukovsky detailed the decades of abuses and outrages in a book he published after the Soviet Union, grown tired of imprisoning him and increasingly wary of dissidents in general, exiled him. To Build a Castle, which Bukovsky put out in 1978 after he had settled in England, tells the story of the depravity of communist rule. In particular, and especially under Yuri Andropov (a man whom Bukovsky hated like no other), the Soviets learned how to weaponize psychiatry in order to diagnose those who resisted socialism as suffering from "sluggish schizophrenia" or some other nonsensical malady. Declared insane (as were thousands of other dissidents), Bukovsky relied on what he called "the implacable force of one man’s refusal to submit." He was a tiny leaven of truth against the abuse of psychiatry, but even that small truth won out. The Soviets were eventually censured by their psychiatry colleagues in the West; Bukovsky had again not given in to evil, but had proceeded ever more boldly against it. In time, the Iron Curtain fell, and the Evil Empire, which had had a stranglehold on Eastern Europe and half of Eurasia, collapsed. Bukovsky had stared down the Soviet Union ‐ the individual had defeated the collective.

It is at this point in the story of the Soviet Union that we in the West tend to swell with pride. We defeated the communist beast, we believe. Freedom prevailed.

#1  ‐ only to watch pieces of it rise again, he claims, and all with the conniving of the West.

Cause the f****** ruling caste refused to hold those in the West accountable for their long betrayal of Western Civilization with the fall of the Wall. They wanted a more 'kinder gentler' world. You don't use aspirin to cure cancer.

#4  redefining history to show it was from within that this happened. There are dissenters in every nation, the USSR spent their treasure in finances fighting the cold war, and their human treasure in Afghanistan. They were broken and coming apart by the time Bukovsky came around to try and steal credit.

#5  Two forces fighting each other eventually look the same. Think about it.

There was an interesting SciFi story done this way. Two species battling across the universe. At one point the Earth side makes humans and a planet with a similar planetary ecology to the enemy. The enemy knows their biology and ecology so knows how to bio/chem/radiation attack it. Earth fights strongly from the planet and looks at each attack modifying it to be more effective and returns the favor to the enemies colonies. At some point it gets good enough to do it to the enemies home planets and exterminate them. Then it needs to write off it's modified enemy like planets and people so they are not a future threat.

The point? For 70 years each was doing the same. The Soviets even had US cities and one assumes we did the same or had think tanks doing the same (or universities). After the win over communism we didn't shut these down...

Sounds familiar. We're going through our own (Deep) State-sanctioned perversion of psychiatry in this country as well. So many absurd notions are being forced upon us, daily, by the collective madness that is identity politucs wokeness and its machinery of repression in the form of denunciations, career or professional death, Twitter mobs, corporate HR Gestapo and their idiotic speech codes, "unconscious bias training," "diversity & inclusion" re-education camps and Thoughtcrime suppression.

Bukovsky is us.

Economy
Here's the income you need to live comfortably in every state in the US
[Business Insider] Living paycheck to paycheck is an unfortunately common hallmark of American life.

Having it all ‐ the ability to cover basic expenses, while still having "fun money" and contributing to savings ‐ can be a difficult feat.

That total amount ‐ also known as an annual "living wage" ‐ varies significantly depending on what state you're in.

GoBankingRates recently determined the necessary living wage in each state using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the 50/30/20 budgeting rule. This popular general budgeting rule allocates 50% of annual income to necessities like housing, 30% to discretionary expenses like travel, and the remaining 20% to savings.

The median necessary living wage across the entire US is $67,690. The state with the lowest annual living wage is Mississippi with $58,321. The state with the highest living wage is Hawaii with $136,437. Other expensive states (unsurprisingly) included New York and California, which have notoriously high costs of living and expensive housing markets.

Keep reading to see what the annual living wage necessary is to live comfortably in every US state, listed in alphabetical order by state name. Also included is the actual median household income in each state according to 2018 data from the US Census Bureau and the median price of homes listed for sale in each state from Zillow.

Planned Parenthood wins $2.2 million verdict against anti-abortion activists
[San Francisco Chronicle] A federal jury in San Francisco awarded Planned Parenthood more than $2.2 million in damages Friday against antiabortion activists who posed as fetal researchers to enter abortion-rights meetings and secretly record participants, rejecting the activists’ claims that they were acting as undercover journalists to expose wrongdoing.

After a monthlong trial, the jurors found that David Daleiden, his employee Sandra Merritt and their collaborators had violated state and federal laws against trespassing, fraud, clandestine recording and racketeering, as well as the nondisclosure agreements the two signed before entering the meetings.
NDAs matter.
Jurors awarded Planned Parenthood more than $500,000 as compensation for the intrusions and $870,000 in punitive damages. Under federal racketeering law, most of the compensation will be tripled.

Jurors also concluded that both Daleiden and Merritt had violated a California criminal law against secretly recording conversations without consent. They both face criminal charges under that law in a separate proceeding in San Francisco Superior Court. Friday’s verdict has no direct impact on the criminal prosecution, which has a higher standard of proof, but it suggested that the defendants have a formidable task in justifying their actions to a jury.

Daleiden, who heads an organization called the Center for Medical Progress, and Merritt entered the abortion conferences by posing as researchers for a nonexistent company called BioMax Procurement Services. The conferences included the annual meetings of the National Abortion Federation in San Francisco in 2014 and in Baltimore in 2015, as well as Planned Parenthood gatherings.

Rather Than Retiring, The Storied B-52 Is Getting Upgraded. Here's Why
[The National Interest] Key point: The B-52 can carry a huge diversity of weapons and remain an effective military asset.

Sixty-seven years after the U.S. Air Force received its last B-52 from Boeing, the flying branch finally has firmed up plans to fit the heavy bomber with new engines.

Air Force magazine in its January 2019 issue took a deep dive into the re-engining effort.

"If Air Force plans hold up, the B-52 will be approaching nearly a century of service by 2050," reporter John Tirpak wrote. "To keep the airplane flying, the service plans to equip each B-52 with new engines, which are expected to be so much more maintainer-friendly and efficient that they’ll pay for themselves in just 10 years."

In addition to new motors, the 76 B-52s in Air Force service also could get upgraded avionics, defensive gear, sensors and ejection seats, War Zone reporter Joe Trevithick revealed. The re-engined, enhanced bombers could receive the new designation B-52J.

In 2018, the Air Force announced it would retire its 62 1980s-vintage B-1Bs bombers and 20 newer B-2 stealth bombers no later than the 2040s, while the updated B-52s would continue to operate alongside at least 100 new B-21 stealth bombers.

"Despite their age, the B-52s have high mission-capable rates, can carry a huge diversity of weapons, and can perform effectively‐as long as the enemy lacks elaborate air defenses," Tirpak wrote. "Even in a higher-end fight, the B-52 can still launch missiles from well outside enemy air defenses. It is the only U.S. bomber that can launch nuclear cruise missiles, and it will be the initial platform for the new Long-Range Stand-Off missile."

Idlib: Russian Strikes Kill Nine Civilians in Syria
[AnNahar] Air strikes by Syrian regime ally Russia on Sunday killed nine civilians in the jihadist-run enclave of Idlib in the northwest of the country, a war monitor said.

Five of the victims died in the village of al-Malaja in southern Idlib province while the other four were killed in raids on the town of Saraqeb in the east, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

A number of people were maimed, some seriously, the monitor's head Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP, though he was unable to say how many.

The Idlib region, home to around three million people including many displaced by Syria's eight-year civil war, is controlled by the country's former al-Qaeda affiliate.

The Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else
...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State...
jihadist alliance also controls parts of neighboring Aleppo and Latakia provinces.

The region is one of the last holdouts of opposition to forces of Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Oppressor of the Syrians and the Lebs...
A ceasefire announced by Russia has largely held since late August.

But the Observatory says 48 civilians -- including 16 children -- have been killed in Russian air strikes on the region since the start of November.

The Britannia-based monitor, which relies on sources inside Syria, says it determines who carries out an air strike according to flight patterns, as well as aircraft and the munitions involved.

Last month Assad said Idlib was standing in the way of an end to the civil war that has ravaged his country.

At least 3 members of Egypt security forces killed in Sinai blast
[IsraelTimes] Egyptian officials said Sunday that a roadside kaboom killed at least three members of the security forces in the restive northern Sinai province.

The explosion hit their armored vehicle in the town of Sheikh Zuweid. Four other security force members were maimed, including an officer.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to talk to news hounds.

No group immediately grabbed credit for the attack.

The Maidan's Tail
[KausFiles] I haven't tweeted anything that's pissed off as many people as this (on 11/12) :

I suppose if the Respectable Interagency Consensus on Ukraine is willing to righteously remove a democratically elected president -- in Ukraine (2014) -- it's not such a big step to justify doing the same thing in the US.

Tufts professor Dan Drezner immediately tweeted, paternally, "you're more than a bit out of your depth"-- though he was understandably too busy to explain why. David Frum chided that Trump wasn't "democratically elected," since Hillary won the popular vote ‐ a point echoed by a massive Twitter troll army that apparently follows Frum (who knew?).

#1  And at the very end of the thing:

** — The apparent urge among Trump opponents to lower the bar for impeachment (until the U.S. becomes effectively the sort of parliamentary system rejected in the Constitution) recently became explicit in anti-Trumper Jonah Goldberg’s case, when he tweeted that “the president ultimately serves at the pleasure of Congress.” That wasn’t the idea.

#2  Kaus is indeed out of his depth, and playing with fire. Then again, so we're Victoria Nuland and John McCain.

What they all fail to grasp is that Ukraine = Africa with white faces.

There won't be a stable democracy with rule of law and a robust civil society in Ukraine anytime in the next 25 years any more than Libya or Zimbabwe or Mali or Congo will attain stability and good government in that time frame. Won't happen.

Ukraine is Russia's Russia. It's corruption squared, with ethnic and political hatred and separatism layered on top of a dysfunctional society and a legacy of the most brutal anti-semitism beneath it.

On top of all of this is the hard fact that Ukraine stands between Russia and its most important warm-water port, one that sits in a peninsula that is as near and dear to the Russian historical memory as Boston, or maybe the Alamo, is to us.

Yes, Putin's a thug surrounded by gangsters. That's beside the point, which is that there is no way on God's green earth that ANY Russian government, even the most liberal or pro-western, would ever tolerate an independent Ukraine joining NATO.

Face it: our Ukraine "experts" played with fire and burned their fingers. Perfesser Dreznee doesn't know any better than his most naive freshman student does regarding what should be done about Ukraine.

And gadflies like Mickey Kaus, David Frum and their ilk should stop using this pathetically dysfunctional country as a way to settle domestic American scores.

Stop Americanizing and politicizing everything. Try seeing the world as it is for once.

VDH: The Wages of Trump Fixation
[AmGreatness] Max Boot recently wrote that my arguments against the impeachment inquiry are prima facie proof of why the Democrats should, in fact, impeach Trump: "If even the great historian Victor Davis Hanson can’t make a single convincing argument against impeachment, I am forced to conclude that no such argument exists."

In fact, I made 10 such arguments, all of which Boot attempted, but has failed, to refute. In this context, Boot’s intellectual erosion as a historian and analyst is a valuable warning of stage-four Trump Derangement Syndrome. I offer that diagnosis with regret given I once knew and liked Boot. But his commentary over the last three years has become sadly unhinged.

...No one should know better the horrific crimes of a mass-murdering Josef Stalin than the Russian-born Boot. Stalin’s purges, orchestrated famines, gulags, show trials, liquidation of the officer class, and atrocities during World War II perhaps accounted for over 20 million Russian deaths. So how could Boot write, "I would sooner vote for Josef Stalin than I would vote for Donald Trump"? Twenty million dead souls don’t quite match Boot’s hatred of Trump.

...After the former Republican Boot saw Trump elected, by defeating his own particular favored Republican primary candidate, and Hillary Clinton, he seemed a bit embittered: "For the health of our republic, I think we need to destroy the Republican Party."

...Boot claims there "have been many legitimate investigations prompted by the president’s unethical and even illegal conduct." Well, there certainly have been "bombshell" hysterias designed to subvert or abort his candidacy, his transition, and now his presidency.

But note that if Boot truly believes Trump’s conduct has proved serially illegal and there have been many "legitimate investigations" into his alleged criminal conduct, why then has not a single act resulted in a criminal referral? What is now the fate of all those who swore to us that Trump was a Russian asset, traitor, treasonous, or pervert such as James Comey, Andrew McCabe, James Clapper, John Brennan, and Christopher Steele?

...Boot’s analyses are not factually based. So when he writes, "All that is left is the tribal loyalty that Republicans, including Republican intellectuals, feel toward a Republican president. They would never make such excuses for a Democrat." In fact, I’ve never been a registered Republican, and remain an independent. In reference to tribal loyalty and the damage it does to institutions, Boot should consult James Piereson’s recent essay on Democratic partisan obstruction:

With the impeachment charade in mind, it is useful to review the various political and constitutional "norms" that have been blasted away in recent decades, mostly due to hyper-partisan conduct by Democrats, with encouragement and cover from the mainstream media.

...At many levels, the psychological pathology of projection has characterized this entire three-year effort to remove Trump. That syndrome also applies to the NeverTrump rump that for over 1,000 days has misled and smeared in its self-righteous pursuit of supposed truth and civility.
IMO, the biggest problem in the modern world is pretend-intelligentsia

What If They Gave an Impeachment and Nobody Came?
It's Kurt
[Townhall] So, while that human troll doll of an ambassador was back east dancing for Adam Schiff’s pleasure and I was out in a glitzy blue Los Angeles-area city at a nice restaurant to score some munchables and people were talking and chatting and interacting and how many were talking about impeachment?

Here’s a hint: It’s the same number as the average dates per decade for a Weekly Standard writer.
Ouch.
Just kidding ‐ there is no such thing as a writer for the Weekly Standard because it destroyed itself by sucking.

The number is "Zero."

Nil.

Nada.

Even less than the amount of Indian in Chef Sitting Bolshevik’s DNA.

No one cares.

Well, not no one. People in Washington care. After all, Donald Trump’s real crime is not deferring to the same D.C. geniuses who were so relentlessly awful that they caused us to elect Donald Trump in the first place. The meme is going around that "I hired Donald Trump to fire people like you," and boy ‐ is it ever on point. That the president ‐ yeah, he’s our president and he’s going to keep being our president for five more long years ‐ refuses to submit to the bureaucrats of the ruling caste on foreign policy is not a bug. It’s a feature ‐ the feature that closed the sale.

...Here’s the deal about impeachment. All this three-ring clown show stuff, all these poll-tested narratives ("Remember, our focus group in Duluth says ’quid pro quo’ is 7.632 percent less evocative than ’bribery’! Everyone go with ’bribery’ from now on!"), all these endless, rehearsed resumé dumps they call their opening statements, mean nothing. It’s a joke. This is not a fact-finding inquiry. This is kabuki theater for dumb people, trying to swing them around to embracing the fait accompli that is impeachment.

...So, to get rid of Trump and stop him from his unholy destruction of norms and rules, our elite has abandoned...

The concept of free speech...

The notion of objective reporting...

The idea of due process...

The principle that the people rule, not government flunkies.

They somehow think that this all gets forgotten after the inevitable humiliation of the Democrat coupsters in the Senate. They would scour the Earth of freedoms and rights and call the resulting wasteland "Democracy."

But they will fail.

How do I know?

Because nobody cares.

Israel Arrests Lebanese Man who Jumps Border Fence
More on this brief story from yesterday.
[AnNahar] The Israeli military says it has arrested a man who crossed its northern border from Leb.

It added that the Lebanese national was being held for questioning.

Leb's state-run National News Agency said a Lebanese man jumped over the border fence into Israel after shooting two people on the Lebanese side of the frontier.

Israel has been on high alert since August, when its aircraft struck targets in Syria and Leb linked to Iran

'Yellow vest' anniversary protests lead to 254 arrests
[AlAhram] French police arrested 254 people during festivities in Gay Paree and other cities on the first anniversary of the "yellow vest" movement, Interior Minister Christophe Castaner said Sunday.

The violence in Gay Paree, where police battled rioters for hours around the southeastern Place d'Italie square, was the worst in the French capital in months.

A total of 173 people were arrested in the city, Castaner told Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
1 radio, revising upwards Saturday's count of 147.

Dozens more were arrested in smaller protests in cities including Nantes, Montpellier, Strasbourg, Bordeaux and Toulouse
...lies on the banks of the River Garonne, half-way between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The Toulouse metropolitan area is the fourth-largest in La Belle France...
Further protests are planned Sunday.

Castaner claimed that there were "few demonstrators" among at the protesters Saturday in Gay Paree, who he said were mainly "thugs, brutes who came to fight the security forces and prevent the emergency services from doing their work."

Several cars were overturned or set alight, bus shelters were smashed and a monument to a World War II hero - Marshal Alphonse Juin -- was defaced.

The windows of a major shopping centre and a neighbouring hotel were also attacked by groups of stone-throwing demonstrators dressed in black, who wore masks to hide their faces.

The police, who had initially authorised the demonstration but declared it illegal after it turned violent, used tear gas and water cannon to try quell the unrest.

In rural La Belle France, the anniversary passed off generally peacefully, with thousands of yellow vests occupying the traffic roundabouts where the movement began last year over rising fuel taxes.

The interior ministry put the number of demonstrators at 28,600 nationwide but the organisers said nearly 40,000 people had rallied -- a far cry from the estimated 282,000 who took part in the first big day of protests on November 17, 2018.

The leaderless yellow vests, who accuse President Emmanuel Macron of ruling on behalf of the urban elite, are adamant that they have not gone away.

They are now looking to join forces with the trade union movement, which is planning a major transport strike over pension reforms starting on December 5.

Rocket hits Baghdad Green Zone, no casualties reported: Police, diplomats
[AlAhram] A rocket hit Baghdad's fortified Green Zone, which houses embassies and government buildings, on Sunday but caused no casualties or major damage, two police sources said.

Diplomatic sources said aerial bombardment sirens sounded after a blast.
An Nahar adds:
Protesters in Baghdad’s sprawling Sadr City neighborhood on Sunday blocked roads in an effort to keep employees from getting to their workplaces, snarling traffic in some areas.

The roadblocks are in response to a call by influential Shiite holy man Moqtada Tater al-Sadr
... the Iranian catspaw holy man who was 22 years old in 2003 and was nearing 40 in 2010. He spends most of his time in Iran, safely out of the line of fire, where he's learning to be an ayatollah...
for a voluntary strike.

Protesters are also trying to reach the Ahrar bridge, after seizing part of the Sanak bridge and the strategic Khilani square in central Baghdad, as they continue to try to get to the heavily fortified Green Zone, the seat of government.

Egypt military court sentences Libyan to death, others to prison over 2017 attack on police
[AlAhram] An Egyptian military court has sentenced a Libyan krazed killer to death and others to heavy jail terms over a deadly krazed killer attack on security forces two years ago.

The case stems from an October 2017 attack on a police patrol in the Bahariya Oasis in the Western Desert which killed 16 security personnel and injured 13 others.

The court sentenced on Sunday a Libyan krazed killer, identified as Abdel-Rehim al-Mosmary, to death. The man, who was the main defendant in the case, received training on using heavy weapons and making explosives in Libya before infiltrating into Egypt through the Western Desert to carry out terrorist attacks in the country, the court said. He was arrested shortly after the attack.

Five others were sentenced to life imprisonment and 15 to between three and 15 years over charges including murder, attempted murder and joining a terrorist group, the court said. It did not specify the nationalities of the other defendants.

Thirty others have been exonerated in the case.

Iraq
Basra roads closed as national protests continue
[Rudaw] Protesters in Basra blocked main roads in the city early on Sunday morning to push people to continue nationwide strikes.

The road blockades follow Sunday announcements of national strikes in an attempt to push the Iraqi government to meet the demands of the protesters.

Four provinces in southern Iraq, including Wasit, Babil, Misan, and Dhi Qar announced Sunday as a national holiday as a result of the strikes.

In Baghdad, many schools have been closed by protesters.

"The school is closed after an official order from the people," reads posters hung on their doors.

At least 320 protesters and members of the security forces have been killed since October 1, with around 15,000 others maimed due to the festivities between security forces and protesters.

The government has been slow to respond to protester demands, prompting the blockade of roads leading to major oil fields in the south of the country. City centers have also been shut down, leaving schools and workplaces empty in order to pressure Baghdad officials.

Protests persisted in the southern city of Basra on Saturday, where the main road to one of the country’s biggest oilfields was blocked off.

Located 60 kilometers from Basra, Majnoon is one of the richest oil fields in the world, with an estimated 38 billion barrels of oil.

The blockade of oilfields, oil tanker routes and major ports by protesters has crippled the Iraqi economy, draining the country of billions of dollars. A single week of blockade at Umm Qasr port in Basra caused an estimated 6$ billion in losses.

The United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
' Special Envoy to Iraq, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, called on protesters to avoid blocking roads to oil installations and ports, as they cause "billions in losses" and undermine the fulfillment of protesters' legitimate demands.

"Disruption of critical infrastructure also of grave concern. Responsibility of all to protect public facilities. Threats/closures of roads to oil installations, ports causing billions in losses. Detrimental to Iraq's economy, undermines fulfilling protesters' legitimate demands," Hennis-Plasschaert tweeted.

Hennis-Plasschaert’s tweet angered Iraqis, however, with many accusing the UN special representative of caring more about oil than the Iraqi people.

Britain
UK govt and military covered up war crimes: report
Another of those carefully crafted leaks aimed at certain targets.
[Rudaw] The UK government and military covered up credible evidence of war crimes by British soldiers against civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq, according to an investigation by the BBC and the Sunday Times.

Leaks from two government-ordered inquiries into the conduct of troops in the conflicts implicated troops in the killing of children and torture of civilians, the investigation found.

The allegations include murders by a soldier from the elite SAS unit, as well as deaths in jug, beatings, torture and sexual abuse of detainees by members of the Black Watch infantry unit.

Military detectives who unearthed evidence of the alleged war crimes told the year-long investigation by the newspaper and the BBC's Panorama programme that seniors commanders hid it "for political reasons".

"The Ministry of Defence (MoD) had no intention of prosecuting any soldier of whatever rank he was unless it was absolutely necessary, and they couldn't wriggle their way out of it," an investigator told the BBC.

The MoD said the allegations were "untrue" and that the decisions of prosecutors and Sherlocks were "independent" and involved "external oversight and legal advice".

The accusations emerged from two war crimes inquiries -- the Iraq Historic Allegations Team (IHAT) and Operation Northmoor, which dealt with Afghanistan -- which ended in 2017 without any prosecutions.

The government closed the probes after a solicitor, Phil Shiner, who had recorded hundreds of allegations, was struck off from practising law amid claims he had paid people in Iraq to find clients.

Amnesia Amnesty International criticised the decision at the time and some former IHAT and Operation Northmoor Sherlocks now allege Shiner's actions were used as an excuse to close down the inquiries as they found wrongdoing at high levels.

The Sunday Times reported military detectives discovered allegations of falsified documents that were "serious enough to merit prosecutions of senior officers".

It reported one of the SAS's most senior commanders was referred to prosecutors for attempting to pervert the course of justice before the inquiries were ended.

The newspaper said the revelations could result in a war crimes investigation at the International Criminal Court if Britannia was deemed to have failed to hold its military to account.

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab told the BBC on Sunday that despite the lack of any prosecutions, it had "got the right balance" in ensuring "spurious claims" were not pursued.

France Shuts Down Mosques and Schools Linked to Islamism in 15 Neighbourhoods
Fascinating. I assume all the members of said Muslim institutions have been thoroughly investigated and connections mapped...
[BREITBART] The French government has shut down mosques, schools, and associations linked to the spread of Islamist ideology in fifteen neighbourhoods across the country. French Secretary of State for the Interior Laurent Nuñez announced the closure of 130 drinking establishments, 12 places of worship, three schools, and nine associations linked to radical Islamism on Friday, Le Gay Pareeien reports.

"We fight against political Islamism that suggests that the law of God is superior to that of the Republic," he told French media. He added that in his view political Islamism should not be conflated with the religion of Islam more generally.

While Nuñez noted that the closures occurred in fifteen different neighbourhoods, he did not identify which specific neighbourhoods were affected by the closures. The closures come as part of the National Plan for the Prevention of Radicalization (PNPR).

Iran's top leader warns ‘thugs' as protests reach 100 cities
[Ay-Pee/HT Clarice Feldman] Iran’s supreme leader on Sunday cautiously backed the government’s decision to raise gasoline prices by 50% after days of widespread protests, calling those who attacked public property during demonstrations "thugs" and signaling that a potential crackdown loomed.

The government shut down internet access across the nation of 80 million people to staunch demonstrations that took place in a reported 100 cities and towns. That made it increasingly difficult to gauge whether unrest continued. Images published by state and semiofficial media showed the scale of the damage in images of burned gas stations and banks, torched vehicles and roadways littered with debris.

Since the price hike, demonstrators have abandoned cars along major highways and joined mass protests in the capital, Tehran, and elsewhere. Some protests turned violent, with demonstrators setting fires as gunfire rang out.

It remains to be seen how many people were arrested, injured or killed. Videos from the protests have shown people gravely wounded.

Iranian authorities on Sunday raised the official death toll in the violence to at least three. Attackers targeting a police station in the western city of Kermanshah on Saturday killed an officer, the state-run IRNA news agency reported Sunday. A lawmaker said another person was killed in a suburb of Tehran. Earlier, one man was reported killed Friday in Sirjan, a city some 800 kilometers (500 miles) southeast of Tehran.

In an address aired Sunday by state television, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said "some lost their lives and some places were destroyed," without elaborating. He called the protesters "thugs" who had been pushed into violence by counterrevolutionaries and foreign enemies of Iran.

Khamenei specifically named those aligned with the family of Iran’s late shah, ousted 40 years ago, and an exile group called the Mujahedeen-e-Khalq. The MEK calls for the overthrow of Iran’s government and enjoys the support of President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani.

"Setting a bank on fire is not an act done by the people. This is what thugs do," Khamenei said.

The supreme leader carefully backed the decision of Iran’s relatively moderate President Hassan Rouhani and others to raise gasoline prices. While Khamenei dictates the country’s nuclear policy amid tensions with the U.S. over its unraveling 2015 accord with world powers, he made a point to say he wasn’t an "expert" on the gasoline subsidies.

Khamenei ordered security forces "to implement their tasks" and for Iran’s citizens to keep clear of violent demonstrators. Iran’s Intelligence Ministry said the "key perpetrators of the past two days’ riot have been identified and proper action is ongoing."

That seemed to indicate a crackdown could be looming.

In a speech, Guaido called on his supporters to remain in the streets in the upcoming days, reminding them how civilian action ousted Bolivia's Evo Morales only six days before.

In other parts of the city, Maduro supporters wearing red shirts prepared for a scheduled rally at the presidential palace in the center of Caracas. Maduro's socialist party also called upon its members to protest in solidarity with his ally Morales, who currently resides in exile in Mexico.

"If we stay at home, we will lose,'' Guaido said before marching with demonstrators to Bolivia's embassy in eastern Caracas. "Today, tomorrow and Monday - we will be in the street."

One protester, Deborah Angarita, a 60-year-old retired office worker, said while the rally was not large, she felt determined to "stay in the streets until the regime leaves."

Lisbeth Guerra, another protester, said she closed her two electronics shops to attend the protests. "More than anything, I want other nations in the world to take note of our crisis."

South Carolina school shooter sentenced to life in prison
[CNN] The teenager who murdered his father and then opened fire on a South Carolina school playground, killing a 6-year-old boy, was sentenced to life in prison without parole Thursday.

Judge R. Lawton McIntosh also sentenced Jesse Osborne, 17, to 30 more years for three attempted murders in the September 2016 school shooting.

Osborne was 14 when he shot his father in their home. He then went to a Townville elementary school where he shot and wounded two children and a teacher. Jacob Hall, one of the children, died three days later.

Osborne, who pleaded guilty last year, told the court he didn't know why he did it.

"I just ask you give me hope for the future and get me help because I do need help," Osborne said. "I want help."

The prosecutor said he was pleased with the sentence.

"He (Osborne) is a very dangerous individual. I think he's shown that by his conduct," 10th Judicial Circuit Solicitor David Wagner told reporters. "The judge made the right call."

Osborne attorney Frank Eppes said he will appeal the sentence.

Perpetrator identity of al-Bab bombing revealed, locals demanding his execution
[NPASYRIA] The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has revealed the identity of the perpetrator who struck the city of al-Bab yesterday, which resulted in dozens of deaths and others maimed. Hundreds of local residents of the city went out in a demonstration in front of the cop shoppe to demand the "execution" of the boom-mobileer, but the local police responded by gun shots.

The Observatory said it had obtained information from trusted sources to reveal the identity of the bomber who killed 19 people and injured dozens.

According to the Observatory, the bomber is called (A. Y.) and comes from the village of Jeblat al-Hamra of eastern al-Bab countryside. He was a former member of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. terrorist group (ISIS) and participated in the battles of Manbij and al-Bab.

After the Turks took control over al-Bab area, he joined al-Hamzat militia of the Syrian National Army before leaving them. He was arrested yesterday in al-Bab by the military police in the city.

In the same context, the observatory said that yesterday hundreds of people in al-Bab city went out in a demonstration in front of the cop shoppe building in the city, demanding the execution of the bomber. Several demonstrators broke into the building to express their dissatisfaction with the chaos status in the city.

The sources said that the police leaders did not go out to the people to know their demands, which made the situation between the demonstrators and the police worse, and led the police to initiate gun shots to disperse them and keep them away from the station.

The areas under the control of the Ottoman Turkish-backed armed opposition groups are in a state of security chaos in light of repeated bombings, liquidations, kidnappings and theft. Also there is widespread public turnout and dissatisfaction among civilians.

Pete Buttigieg surges to first place in Iowa, new poll shows
[CNN] There is a new Democratic front-runner in Iowa, and his name is Pete Buttigieg
...the testicleless mayor of South Bend, Indiana, since 2012. Buttigieg graduated from Harvard College and, on a Rhodes Scholarship, from Pembroke College, Oxford. From 2007 to 2010, he worked at McKinsey and Company, a consulting firm. From 2009 to 2017 Buttigieg served as an intelligence officer in the United States Navy Reserve, attaining the rank of lieutenant and deploying to Afghanistan in 2014. Buttigieg was first elected mayor of South Bend in 2011 and was reelected in 2015. During his second term, he announced he was gay. Buttigieg also campaigned for Indiana state treasurer in 2010 and for chair of the Democratic National Committee in 2017, losing both elections. He is running for the Dem nomination in 2020 on the theory that being mayor of a nondescript medium sized city is qualification to run the country...
The mayor of South Bend, Indiana, holds a clear lead in the first-in-the-nation caucus state, climbing to 25% in a new CNN/Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll of likely Iowa caucusgoers. That marks a 16-point increase in support for Buttigieg since the September CNN/DMR poll. This survey comes on the heels of other recent polls that have shown Buttigieg joining the top tier of the Democratic primary race in Iowa.

Elitist Bill Maher Trashes 'Hate'-Filled Conservatives as 'A**holes You Can't Stand'
[NEWSBUSTERS.ORG] Real Time host Bill Maher concluded his satirical segment "New Rules" on Friday by advising his audience to "just celebrate Thanksgiving, don’t try to win it." At first glance, his closing monologue might have seemed like words of wisdom for those who "see politics so differently from people who share your very blood." But it quickly turned into a rant against "hate"-filled "rubes" and "Bible thumpers," in other words, conservatives.

After unveiling his tip, Maher proceeded to advise his viewers to "never forget the single shining truth about democracy: it means sharing a country with assholes you can’t stand." Maher made it perfectly clear that he was talking about conservatives.

According to Maher, "we have to accept something about people: half of them have their taste in their ass." He continued to mock and stereotype conservatives: "they eat sweet potatoes with marshmallows, they wear matching family outfits, and put nuts on their truck."

Nothing seemed to upset Maher more about conservatives than their support for President Trump. As a picture of the President supposedly mocking a disabled news hound appeared in the background, Maher expressed his bewilderment that "46 percent of the country wanted that guy picking the Supreme Court." Eventually, Maher informed the audience that despite their intense dislike for those on the other side of the aisle, "we’re stuck with them and they’re stuck with us."

It's beyond strange for Bill Maher to disdain knocking your opponents with harsh words, as he demonstrated.

Trump rallies are filled with words like "enemies of the people," "human scum." They talk of people to be locked up. Well, you can’t lock all us up. Liberals are described as weak, lame, coddling, oversensitive, and limp-dicked.

Which are strong words for a bunch of mouth-breathers, shit-kickers, knuckle-draggers, Bible -thumpers, sister-fuckers and rubes.

The cheers and applause that followed made Maher’s point. That kind of insult is rewarded. And it’s made Maher very rich for doing it over and over and over again.

Rouhani: Iran cannot allow ‘insecurity’
[Asia Times] President Hassan Rouhani warned Sunday that riot-hit Iran could not allow “insecurity” after two days of unrest killed two people and saw authorities arrest dozens and restrict internet access.

“Protesting is the people’s right, but protesting is different from rioting. We should not allow insecurity in the society,” he said.

Rouhani defended the controversial gasoline price hike that triggered the protests – a project which the government says will finance social welfare spending amid a sharp economic downturn.

Gulf Cartel Gunmen Wound Four Mexican Cops near Texas Border
[BREITBART] MATAMOROS, Tamaulipas ‐ Four Mexican state coppers are recuperating from their injuries after a group of Gulf Cartel button men ambushed them in the border city of Matamoros. The attack comes at a time when Tamaulipas state authorities are actively hunting one of the top leaders within that criminal organization. The attack took place this week in the downtown area of Matamoros near the "Trevino Zapata" open-air market, law enforcement sources revealed to Breitbart Texas. A group of Gulf Cartel button men drove by a squad of coppers and began firing automatic weapons at the officers.

The attack prompted a response by authorities who attempted to fight off the attack from one of their police vehicles with unit number 1154. The patrol vehicle took heavy gunfire and crashed into one of the gunmen’s vehicles.

Four officers were struck by gunfire and sustained various injuries. The brazen attack prompted a massive response by law enforcement and military forces as they tended to the injured officers and began a manhunt in search of the attackers. Authorities arrested at least one suspect in the attack as part of the ongoing investigation.

Ilhan Omar funneled another $150K to alleged lover's consulting group
[NY Post] Rep. Ilhan Omar paid another $150,000 to Tim Mynett's political consulting group in the three months after The Post first revealed allegations the pair were romantically involved, records show.

The 37-year-old Minnesota congresswoman's campaign has funneled $146,712.63 to Mynett's E Street Group since The Post in August reported allegations she was having an affair with her paid consultant, records show.

The latest payments to Mynett's group were for digital advertising, fundraising consulting and video production.

When news of the alleged affair broke, Omar had already paid $223,000 through her campaign since 2018 for fundraising consulting, internet advertising, digital communications, and travel expenses to the E Street Group ‐ taking the latest total to $370,000.

But the federal agency charged with probing the campaign finance complaint against Omar is powerless to act because it doesn't have enough commissioners on the bench to investigate.

Eight soldiers injured in clash with Abus in Sulu
[SunStar] Eight Philippine soldiers were injured as the troops clashed anew with Abu Sayyaf militants on Wednesday while military operations against the rebels continue in the province of Sulu.

Western Mindanao Command chief Cirilito Sobejana said the battle broke out when the soldiers spotted some 40 Abu Sayyaf rebels while on security operation on Wednesday in Buhanginan Village, Patikul. He said the firefight lasted for about 40 minutes, after which the militants, followers of Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan and Radullan Sahiron, fled dragging along their casualties.

The military are continuously conducting focused military operations in a bid to rescue a number of hostages, including foreigners, from the hands of the Abu Sayyaf bandits in Sulu, Sobejana said.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Myles Garrett to appeal NFL suspension after helmet attack
[NYPOST] Myles Garrett was apologetic, but he’s challenging the NFL’s discipline.

The Browns star will appeal his indefinite suspension that is set to last at least the remainder of this season, according to NFL Network, after he hit Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph in the head with Rudolph’s helmet Thursday night.

Garrett, 23, will argue that players cannot be suspended for an indefinite period of time for on-field acts under the collective bargaining agreement, NFL Network reports. The defensive end is looking for an exact number of games along with a reduction of the suspension which at minimum will cost him the final six regular-season games and any potential postseason games this year. He will not get paid while suspended. The appeal decision could be reached by Wednesday.

"Last night, I made a terrible mistake," Garrett said Friday in a statement. "I lost my cool and what I did was selfish and unacceptable. I know that we are all responsible for our actions and I can only prove my true character through my actions moving forward.

"I want to apologize to Mason Rudolph, my teammates, our entire organization, our fans and to the NFL. I know I have to be accountable for what happened, learn from my mistake and I fully intend to do so."

Meanwhile,
...back at the laboratory, Igor and Oleg were discussing what the quickest way might be to deal with the monster...
Rudolph is expected to be fined for his role in the incident, in which the quarterback grabbed at Garrett’s helmet before Garrett ripped Rudolph’s helmet off and bashed Rudolph in the head. According to ESPN, the fine guideline for a first-time fighting offense is $35,096.

Federal prosecutors said the woman, identified only as Nasim A., was arrested Friday evening. They said Saturday she were tossed into the calaboose by Kurdish forces early this year and held at the al-Hawl camp in north-eastern Syria.

Prosecutors say she travelled to Syria in late 2014 and married an IS fighter. The couple allegedly moved to Tal Afar, Iraq, where they lived in an IS-seized house. The woman ran the household, receiving $100 per month from IS and leaving her husband free to fight for IS.

Prosecutors didn´t detail the circumstances of her return to Germany. The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

University and College Union Says Anyone Can ‘Self-Identify’ as Black
[BREITBART] The University and College Union (UCU) has declared that anyone can “self-identify” as “black, disabled, LGBT+ or women”.

“UCU has a long history (from predecessor unions) of enabling members to self-identify whether that is being black, disabled, LGBT+ or women [sic],” a six-page position statement from the union, which “represents over 120,000 academics, lecturers, trainers, instructors, researchers, managers, administrators, computer staff, librarians and postgraduates in universities, colleges, prisons, adult education and training organisations across the UK.”

“UCU supports the right of all women (including trans women) to safe spaces… UCU also supports a social, rather than a medical, model of gender recognition that will help challenge repressive gender stereotypes in the workplace and in society,” the statement added.

The document focused primarily on gender like this, but that reference to “enabling members to self-identify whether that is being black, disabled, LGBT+ or women” was repeated three times.
I would say that self-identifying as disabled would be fraud. Of course, I'd call Rachel Dolezal a fraud, and Elizabeth Warren a fraud. If you call yourself a woman while you still have a dangling participle, I think that's fraudulent, too, but obviously I'm old-fashioned.

Al Sharpton gets $1M in pay from his own charity
[NYPost] The Rev. Al Sharpton raked in $1,046,948 from his own charity last year, according to National Action Network’s latest tax filings obtained by The Post.
Pay yer taxes ya deadbeat racist grifting POS
Sharpton got a $324,000 salary — 32% higher than his 2017 pay — in addition to a $159,596 bonus and $563,352 in “other compensation.”

The Harlem-based nonprofit — which Sharpton controls as president and CEO — said the extra cash was to make up for the years from 2004 to 2017 when he didn’t get his full pay.

NAN said it hired an executive compensation firm that determined the good reverend was owed $1.252 million — but he was generously willing to take $500,000 less.
Golly. A soul as big as the whole outdoors, that man.
Sharpton and the nonprofit’s board also agreed “he has now been fully compensated for all the years he was underpaid and received no bonus,” the NAN statement said.

Bolivia’s crisis turns violent with five deaths
[DAWN] Bolivia’s political crisis turned deadly again when security forces opened fire on supporters of Evo Morales. At least five people died and dozens were maimed, threatening the interim governments efforts to restore stability following the resignation of the former president in an election dispute.

Most of the dead and injured in Sacaba, near the city of Cochabamba, had been shot, Guadalberto Lara, director of the towns Mexico Hospital, said. He called it the worst violence hes seen in his 30-year career.

Angry demonstrators and relatives of the victims gathered at the site of the shootings, chanting: Civil war, now! Morales, who was granted asylum in Mexico after his Nov 10 resignation, said on Twitter that a massacre had occurred and he described the interim government led by Jeanine ez as a dictatorship.

Now they are killing our brothers in Sacaba, Cochabamba, he said in another tweet.

At least 13 other people had died during weeks of earlier protests against Morales before his departure, according to the national Ombudsman’s Office. Several came in festivities between the presidents backers and those accusing him of fraudulently trying to win reelection.
Related: the New York Post puts the death count for the past week at 23.

Nawaz to travel to London via air ambulance on Tuesday: PML-N
[DAWN] Former premier Nawaz Sharif
...served two three non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf, then by the courts...
is expected to travel to London on Tuesday via an air ambulance, PML-N officials said on Sunday.

In a statement issued today, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said that an air ambulance will arrive on Tuesday morning to transport Nawaz.

The announcement comes a day after the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday allowed the former premier to travel abroad for four weeks for medical treatment, saying the duration could be extended based on medical reports.

In a blow to the government, which had placed a condition of indemnity bonds for Nawaz's travel, the court had ordered the federal government to remove his name from the Exit Control List (ECL) without any conditions.

Two Chemistry Professors Accused of Making Meth in School Lab
[BREITBART] two chemistry professors were accused of making methamphetamine in a school lab, sheriff’s deputies said. Terry David Bateman, 45, and Bradley Allen Rowland, 40, who both worked at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, as associate professors of chemistry were arrested Friday afternoon, the Clark County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.

Bateman and Rowland face charges of manufacturing meth and using drug paraphernalia, and have been on administrative leave since October 11, KTRK reported.

Staff closed the university science center on October 8 after someone noticed a chemical odor, according to Tina Hall, the university’s associate vice president of marketing and communications.

The university reopened the building on October 29 after an on-call environmental service installed air filtering systems and temporarily removed windows to facilitate ventilation, Hall said.

Hall could not confirm what was found after the mysterious odor report or whether the professors made the meth inside the school.

Car bomb in northern Syria leaves 19 dead
[DAWN] A boom-mobile killed 19 people, 13 of them civilians, in the Ottoman Turkish-controlled town of al-Bab in northern Syria on Saturday, a war monitor said.

The bomb, which struck a bus and taxi station in the town, also maimed 33 people, some of them seriously, the Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
and its Syrian proxies control several pockets of territory on the Syrian side of the border as a result of successive incursions in 2016-17, 2018 and 2019.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing but the Observatory said there had been persistent security incidents in the town since its capture by Ottoman Turkish troops from the murderous Moslem Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. group in February 2017. The town, some 30 kilometres (20 miles) northeast of Syria’s second city Aleppo, was one of the westernmost strongholds of the jihadists’ self-styled "caliphate" which was finally eradicated by US-backed Kurdish forces in eastern Syria in March.

Turkey blamed the boom-mobileing on the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) against whom it launched a new invasion further east last month.

Kurdish fighters "continue to target innocent civilians using the same methods as ISIS," the defence ministry said on its official Twitter account using another acronym for IS.

Iran supreme leader warns ‘thugs’ amid gas price protests
[BREITBART] Iran’s supreme leader on Sunday backed the government’s decision to raise gasoline prices and called angry protesters who have been setting fire to public property over the hike "thugs," signaling a potential crackdown on the demonstrations.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
...the actual dictator of Iran, successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini...
’s comments came as authorities shut down the internet across Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
to smother the protests in some two dozen cities and towns over the rise of government-set prices by 50% as of Friday.

Since the hike, demonstrators have abandoned their cars along major highways and joined mass protests in the capital, Tehran, and elsewhere. Some protests turned violent, with demonstrators setting fires and there was also gunfire.

It remains to be seen how many people have been injured, killed or arrested. Authorities on Saturday said only one person was killed, though other videos from the protests have shown people gravely maimed.

In an address aired by state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
Sunday, Khamenei said "some bit the dust and some places were destroyed," without elaborating. He called violent protesters "thugs" who had been pushed into violence by counterrevolutionaries and foreign enemies of Iran. He specifically named those aligned with the family of Iran’s late shah, ousted 40 years ago, and an exile group called the Mujahedeen-e-Khalq.

"Setting a bank on fire is not an act done by the people. This is what thugs do," Khamenei said.
How about occupying an embassy?
However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
he made a point to back the decision of Iran’s relatively moderate President Hassan Rouhani
...Iran's moderate president, which he is, relative to his predecessor, which doesn't mean he's anything but a puppet of the nearest holy man...
and others to raise gasoline prices. Gasoline in the country still remains among the cheapest in the world, with the new prices jumping up to a minimum of 15,000 rials per liter of gas ‐ 50% up from the day before. That’s 13 cents a liter, or about 50 cents a gallon. A gallon of regular gasoline in the U.S. costs $2.60 by comparison.

Khamenei ordered security forces "to implement their tasks" and for Iran’s citizens to keep clear of violent demonstrators.

#1  .... .50 for a gallon of gas doesnt sound too expensive to us - but keep in mind the average Iranian only makes about $800 a month. At that point it gets expensive right quick.

Protesters set fire to hold off police at Hong Kong campus
[Atimes] Police threaten to use live ammo after protesters shoot arrows and throw gasoline bombs at officers.

Pro-democracy demonstrators holed up in a Hong Kong university campus set the main entrance ablaze Monday to prevent surrounding police moving in after officers warned they may use live rounds if confronted by deadly weapons.

The police warning, which came after one officer was struck by an arrow, marked a further escalation of the near six-month crisis engulfing the city.

China has repeatedly warned that it will not tolerate dissent, and there are growing concerns that Beijing could intervene directly to end the spiraling unrest.

Several loud blasts were heard around dawn on Monday before a wall of fire lit up an entrance to the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), AFP reporters said, as what appeared to be a police attempt to enter the campus was repelled by protesters determined to hold their ground.

Police said they had fired three live rounds in the early hours of Monday at a protest site near the university but that no one appeared to have been hit.

Intense clashes throughout Sunday, which saw a police officer hit in the leg by an arrow and protesters meet police tear gas with volleys of petrol bombs, rolled overnight across the Kowloon district, as a call went out to defend the besieged campus.

There, protesters had hunkered down under umbrellas from occasional fire from police water cannon and hurled Molotov cocktails at an armored vehicle, leaving it ablaze on a flyover near the campus.

Mazloum Abdi: Erdogan extorts the world with ISIS prisoners and they must be tried in an international court
[NPASYRIA] Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi said that, Ottoman Turkish President Erdogan is extorting the world with a few ISIS terrorist prisoners.

Abdi tweeted today on his Twitter account saying: "We have documents confirming that, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
is using many of ISIS bully boyz in its invasion against northern Syria".

He stressed on the need for an international court in northern Syria to try ISIS detainees, noting that it is the only way to stop Turkey's extortion of the world, to thwart its plans in order to show the truth and build justice.

SDF commander, Mazloum Abdi pointed out that, ISIS Death Eaters committed the most horrendous crimes in the north of Syria.

In a special statement to North-Press, the director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Rami Abdel Rahman confirmed that, the observatory documented the presence of at least 8 members of ISIS who are fighting alongside al-Hamzat and Ahrar al-Sharqiya groups, where they were identified by citizens from al-Qalamoun, Eastern Ghouta and Hasakah, and there are reports which say that, hundreds of ISIS members are among the ranks of the so-called "National Army", but at least 8 cases have been confirmed so far, according to the Observatory.

Open Society Kept Alleged ‘Whistleblower’ Eric Ciaramella Updated on George Soros’s Personal Ukraine Activities
[BREITBART] Eric Ciaramella, whom Real Clear Investigations suggests is the likely so-called whistleblower, received emails about Ukraine policy from a top director at George Soros
...either Ernst Stavro Blofeld or Auric Goldfinger come true...
’s Open Society Foundations.

The emails informed Ciaramella and a handful of other B.O. regime foreign policy officials about Soros’s whereabouts, the contents of Soros’s private meetings about Ukraine and a future meeting the billionaire activist was holding with the prime minister of Ukraine.

A primary recipient of the Open Society emails along with Ciaramella was then-Assistant Secretary of State for Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an Affairs Victoria Nuland, who played a central role in the anti-Trump dossier affair. Nuland, with whom Ciaramella worked closely, received updates on Ukraine issues from dossier author Remington Christopher Steele in addition to her direct role in facilitating the dossier within the B.O. regime.

The emails spotlight Soros’s access to national security officials under the B.O. regime on the matter of Ukraine.

In one instance, Jeff Goldstein, senior policy analyst for Eurasia at the Open Society Foundations, sent a June 9, 2016 email to Nuland and Ciaramella, who were the missive’s primary recipients.

CC’d were three other State Department officials involved in European affairs, including Alexander Kasanof who worked at the U.S. embassy in Kiev.

Kindergartener takes dad’s heroin to school, says it makes him a superhero
[NYPOST] A 5-year-old boy took a superhero-stamped baggie of his dad’s heroin to his Massachusetts kindergarten ‐ telling teachers it turned him into Spider-Man when he tasted it, according to a report.

The youngster sparked alarm at the H.B. Lawrence Elementary School in Holyoke last Thursday after showing off the baggie with a stamp of the Marvel superhero, officials told the Daily Hampshire Gazette.

After his apparent confession about tasting it ‐ telling teachers he had put it in his mouth ‐ the boy was raced to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, the report says. He appeared healthy and officials believe he may have escaped ingesting any of the drug from the sealed bag.

"[The boy] loves Spider-Man," Holyoke Police Lt. James Albert told the paper. "Our officers were quite taken by it all. You don’t often deal with this."

His 29-year-old dad, Benny Garcia, was arrested after officers found him sleeping in bed on top of numerous other bags holding the same white powder, according to the paper.

"The officers located the same sort of baggie (of) heroin stamped ’Spider-Man’ that the child brought to school in a dresser drawer of the defendant’s bedroom," Assistant District Attorney Matthew Green said in court, calling it "a particularly shocking and egregious" case.

Police found at least 170 baggies of heroin as well as baggies and Ziploc bags of cocaine, the paper said, citing court documents.

When officers told Garcia what happened to his son he became "very emotional," according to the court documents.

Garcia pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
to charges of drug possession and reckless endangerment of a child, the report said. Judge William Rota ordered him held until a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Nov. 20.

The boy and an infant sibling were removed from the family home by the Department of Children and Families, the report said.

Death threats by Turkish-backed armed groups against Yazidi people
Sultan Recep Tayip Erdogan I, “the much beloved”, keeps such lovely pets.
[NPASYRIA] In a poll conducted by North-Press, Officials in the Yazidi Kurdish House in Aleppo, expressed their opinions regarding the Ottoman Turkish military invasion in northeastern Syria, saying that The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
has been a neighbor of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
terrorist group (ISIS) for years, without considering it as a threat to its national security, rather, Turkey has helped them. Turkey now is invading the regions of northeastern Syria under the pretext of its national security.

They also asserted that the armed opposition groups used by Turkey in its invasion, have committed great violations against the Yazidis, and destroyed many of their monuments when they attacked and occupied the region of Afrin last year.

Hisham Ahmad, the co-chair of the Yazidi House in Aleppo, said that Turkey's justification of invading northeastern Syria is clear to everyone, as the national security cover no longer works.

He added that a large proportion of people used by Turkey in its attack on northeastern Syria, were ISIS members, and a number of them had attacked the district of Shingal (Sinjar), "and their hands are stained with the blood of Yazidis and with the abduction of many Yazidi women," he said.

"After their occupation of Afrin, many Yazidis were forcibly converted to Islam as many of their shrines were destroyed," he said.

According to Ahmad, they fear that the Yazidis in northeastern Syria would be massacred because there are many Yazidi villages on the Syrian-Ottoman Turkish border. He justified his fears that "Muhammad Army of Turkey, came to kill infidels and atheists, as they were saying," he said.

Moreover, he called on the United Nations
...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society...
and institutions defending religious diversity and religious minorities, to put an end to abuses by the Ottoman Turkish military and its affiliates.

Rania Jaafar, the coordinator of Yazidi women's affairs, said that the Yazidi religion was subjected to many genocides during the Ottoman rule, which tried to erase Yazidi customs, traditions and culture.

She continued that Turkey is aiming at the same thing, by combating minorities and erasing the Yazidi religion. It targets all different religions and beliefs, and this's why the Yazidi villages on the Syrian-Ottoman Turkish border have witnessed a great wave of displacement, for fears of a repeat of Shingal catastrophe.

She added that during the era of the Autonomous Administration, they opened many centers and had several activities, while Turkey and its affiliated armed opposition groups destroyed Yazidi landmarks and shrines, when they attacked Afrin region and entered the Yazidi villages.

Furthermore, they imposed Islamic dress on Yazidi women and forced them to enter the Islamic mosques to pray, and established mosques in the villages of Paflon, Faqira, and Yazidi Basofan, in order to change their religious features.

Israel strikes Hamas targets in Gaza after rocket fire
[DAWN] Israel targeted Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", in air strikes on Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
early on Saturday after rockets were fired at it from the Paleostinian enclave, the army said, two days after a fragile ceasefire began.

Hamas, the Islamist movement that has de facto control over the Gaza Strip, had been spared the brunt of Israeli bombardment during this week’s flare-up which focused on its hardline ally Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
A ceasefire has been in place since Thursday morning following the wave of tit-of-tat air strikes and rocket fire between Israel and Islamic Jihad ‐ the territory’s second most powerful krazed killer group.

The army said it launched Saturday’s strikes after "two rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israeli territory" and were intercepted by air defences. It was not immediately known who fired the rockets.

Paleostinian security sources said the Israeli strikes were aimed at two Hamas sites in the north of the territory.

"Among the sites targeted was a military camp of the Hamas terror organization and a military compound used by the Hamas naval forces," a statement from the Israeli military said.

"In addition an underground terror infrastructure was also targeted." There were no reports of casualties.

It was the first time Hamas had been hit since this week’s escalation began with Israel’s assassination of a top Islamic Jihad commander early on Tuesday.

That strike triggered almost immediate retaliatory rocket fire from Islamic Jihad, which set off air-raid sirens and sent Israelis rushing to bomb shelters in the country’s southern and central regions.

The Israeli military said around 450 rockets were fired at its territory during the fighting and air defences intercepted dozens of them.

The military responded with air strikes it said targeted Islamic Jihad krazed killer sites and rocket- and missile-launching squads.

After two days of fighting which killed 34 Paleostinians and no Israelis, a ceasefire was agreed.

Gun from Chicago buy-back program found near dead gang member in police shooting
[LawEnforcementToday] According to an AGG report, William Stewart Boyd traded his father’s old .38 caliber Smith & Wesson snub nose for less than $100 in a gun buyback in 2004. It was supposed to be destroyed, but somehow the same handgun with serial number J515268 was found next to a dead body involved in a police shooting eight years later.

Boyd, a judge in Cook County, had taken the handgun to a South Side church in Chicago, Illinois where he handed it over to a pair of plainclothes officers with badges on their belts.

“I’m doing the right thing,” he said in an interview with Chicago’s Sun Times, “and, in the process, someone didn’t do what they were supposed to do. That calls into question the process. What’s happening after you turn these weapons in?”

Great question – somehow, this Smith & Wesson .38 ended up in the hands of 22-year-old felon and gang member Cesar Munive – a man previously convicted of sexual abuse of a minor, unlawful use of a weapon, and battery.

During an interaction with the police in July 2012, Munive was shot and killed by Cicero (Illinois) Officer Donald Garrity.

Judge Boyd, rightfully, wants to know how the gun got into the hands of Munive.

There’s some grey area in that story. Officer Garrity has a long history of disciplinary problems and is currently collecting a disability pension for PTSD. Garrity was disciplined for using a “high powered rifle” during a traffic stop, threatening another officer, and was stopped once for going 90 mph in a 30-mph zone.

He was previously with the Berwyn Police Department and was hired by Cicero in 2012.

Munive’s family has accused Garrity of planting the handgun at the scene of the crime to justify his use of force. The family attorney said there were “plenty of warnings readily available to any reasonable police department that it was not safe to put a gun in the hands of such an unstable individual.”

The city of Cicero is ready to pay Munive’s family $3.5 million to settle a civil rights lawsuit out of court.

Sri Lanka
'Terminator' Rajapaksa storms to victory in Sri Lanka election
Unexpectedly.
[DAWN] Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who spearheaded the brutal crushing of the Tamil Tigers 10 years ago, stormed to victory on Sunday in Sri Lanka's presidential elections seven months after bully boy attacks killed 269 people.

The retired lieutenant colonel, nicknamed the "Terminator" by his own family, won 53-54 per cent of the vote, his front man told AFP as Rajapaksa's main rival Sajith Premadasa of the ruling party conceded the race.

"It is a clear win. We envisaged it. We are very happy that Gota will be the next president. He will be sworn in tomorrow or the day after," front man Keheliya Rambukwella said.

Rajapaksa, 70, had a 49.6pc share of the vote with close to six million ballots counted. He is the younger brother of the charismatic but controversial Mahinda Rajapaksa, who was president from 2005-15.

Results from Sinhalese-majority regions ‐ the Rajapaksas' core support base ‐ were expected to push this above 50pc.

Premadasa, 52, of the ruling party was trailing at 44.4pc. He had strong support in minority Tamil areas and a poor showing in larger Sinhalese constituencies.

Election Commission chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said at least 80pc of the 15.99 million eligible voters participated in Saturday's poll, which was marred by isolated violence that left several people injured.

Rajapaksa conducted a nationalist campaign with a promise of security and a vow to crush religious extremism in the Buddhist-majority country following the April 21 suicide kabooms blamed on a homegrown jihadi group.

Buttigieg Under Fire for Exaggerating Black Support
More on this story from yesterday.
[BREITBART] South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg
...the testicleless mayor of South Bend, Indiana, since 2012. He is running for the Dem nomination in 2020 on the theory that being mayor of a nondescript medium sized city is qualification to run the country...
is under fire for allegedly faking black support in a campaign email in late October that claimed 400 African-Americans in South Carolina had endorsed his "Douglass Plan" for equality.

The Douglass Plan, named for the (Republican) former slave and abolitionist, proposes a variety of policies aimed at helping black Americans, alongside a committee to study the issue of reparations, which Buttigieg also backs.

The plan is partly aimed at addressing Buttigieg’s persistent weakness among black voters, which is partly the result of difficulties in his relationship with the black community in South Bend. He fired the city’s first black police chief, then faced criticism from the black community after an officer-involved shooting earlier this year. When he tried to make amends by accusing the police department of racism, he faced criticism from law enforcement as well.

#2  Are the Dems or the Pubs going after Buttigieg?

#3  No way this nonentity wins S Carolina.
The Dems are headed toward a brokered convention.
Trump will win easily if his people in PA WI MI and elsewhere get out the vote.

#4  When he doesn't get nominated the sour grapes will be that many voters are "homophobic" and should be denied the right to vote.

Microsoft hires ex-AG Holder to audit Israeli face-scanning firm
[IsraelTimes] Software giant has come under scrutiny over its investment in AnyVision, whose surveillance technology is used to track Palestinians.
Why Eric Holder, of all people?
Microsoft is hiring former US attorney general Eric Inaction Jackson Holder
... aka Mister Fast and Furious...
to review its investment in an Israeli facial recognition startup that scans faces at military checkpoints in the West Bank.

Microsoft said in a statement Friday that Holder will lead a team of former federal prosecutors conducting an audit.

Its aim is to determine whether Israeli firm AnyVision’s technology applications comply with Microsoft’s ethical principles against using facial recognition for mass surveillance.

Microsoft’s announcement came in the wake of an October 28 MSNBC report on its investment.

AnyVision announced a $74 million investment in June from a group including Microsoft’s venture capital arm.

The firm and its Microsoft backing attracted public scrutiny as the Israeli military installed face scanners at border crossings where Paleostinians enter Israel from the West Bank.

A recent report by Israeli business paper The Marker said that the Israeli military also uses technology provided by AnyVision in cameras dotting the Paleostinian territories. The cameras and database are being used to identify and track potential Paleostinian assailants, the report said.

Another investor in AnyVision is the US semiconductor and telecommunications equipment firm Qualcomm.

AnyVision was founded in 2015 by Eylon Etshtein and Prof. Neil Roberston and has Tamir Pardo, a former head of Israel’s Mossad intelligence service, on its advisory board, according to its website.

#4  Facial recognition software works well on faces of ‘white’ people. So you see why Holder was asked to evaluate the ethics of the platform. This is right in his wheel house.

Isn't that the null set?

#8  ^ Bingo.
Holder is race-hustling ever tech giant that can be cowed. Uber, Google, Microsoft... It's another version of Jesse Jackson's old PUSH race-based shakedown.
