Netanyahu calls decision to indict him an 'attempted coup'
Ours managed to surpass yours
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday called a criminal indicment against him an attempt at a "government coup" and he will continue to "lead Israel." It is the first time in the country's history a sitting prime minister has been charged with a crime.

Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit on Thursday formally charged Netanyahu in a series of corruption cases, throwing the country's paralyzed political system into further disarray and threatening the long-time leader's grip on power. Mandelblit charged Netanyahu with fraud, breach of trust and accepting bribes in three different scandals.
The bribes in question being positive press

‘Don't Let Food into the Cities': Evo Morales Caught on Tape Planning Starvation in Bolivia
long article- excerpt:
[Breitbart] On Wednesday, Minister of Government (Interior Minister) Arturo Murillo published audio of what he said was a call between Morales, currently in Mexico, and Faustino Yucra Yarwui, a rural socialist community organizer, in which Morales demanded Yucra organize blockades around the nation’s biggest cities to prevent food and basic supplies from coming in, pressuring the government to allow Morales to return to power.

Yucra is a member of one of Bolivia’s coca growers’ unions. Coca is the plant used to develop cocaine. Morales rose to power as an advocate for coca growers and used his international prominence to promote the legalization of coca leaf,

Yucra, who refers repeatedly to Morales as "brother," tells Morales that the coca leaders have organized two blockade points to prevent goods from entering, one that has attracted 4,500 people.

"You know what, brother: you don't have to have 4,500 people," Morales replies in the audio. "Divide the union into four or five groups, so it lasts longer. … If you concentrate [in one place], people give up, but if there are groups, they take turns, we can hold up the blockade."

"Brother, don't let food into the cities, we will really blockade," Morales continues. "When they expelled me from Congress in 2002, they did a blockade. And now, they kick me out of Bolivia; there is a blockade. We will win."

Murillo told reporters the call occurred "three days ago" but could not reveal how Bolivian intelligence services acquired it. He accused Morales of "terrorism" and "crimes against humanity" for helping Yucra organize violent blockades that could starve out thousands of poor Bolivians.

#3  Last year I arrived early for a lunch address by Gen. Michael Hayden, who ran the National Security Agency and later the Central Intelligence Agency in the George W. Bush administration. Hayden was already there, and glad to chat. The conversation turned to Egypt, and I asked Hayden why the Republican mainstream had embraced the Muslim Brotherhood rather than the military government of President al-Sisi, an American-trained soldier who espoused a reformed Islam that would repudiate terrorism. "We were sorry that [Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohamed] Morsi was overthrown" in July 2013, Hayden explained. "We wanted to see what would happen when the Muslim Brotherhood had to take responsibility for picking up the garbage."

"General," I remonstrated, "when Morsi was overthrown, Egypt had three weeks of wheat supplies on hand. The country was on the brink of starvation!"

"I guess that experiment would have been tough on the ordinary Egyptian," Hayden replied, without a hint of irony.

#9  From Frank's link in #6 - Spengler/Goldman nails it. Worth re-posting the punch line:

By civility and bipartisanship, the Establishment refers to the policy consensus that squandered America’s dominant position in the world after the fall of the Soviet Union in 1990. America had no military competitors of importance when George W. Bush took office in 2001, and an edge in high technology that made the American economy seem insuperable. Since then:

-China has taken America’s place as the leading exporter of high-tech equipment;
-America faces credible military competition from China;
-Real median household income hasn’t grown since 2000;
-The civilian labor force participation rate has fallen from 67% in 2000 to 63% today;
-Productivity growth has languished at 1% a year since the global financial crisis;
-US federal debt has between 2000 and 2018 has doubled as a share of GDP;
-The American economy became “cartelized, corrupt and anti-competitive,” dominated by a handful of tech monopolies who combined to crush competition.

Bush, supported by Senator McCain and the Republican mainstream, spent $5.6 trillion chasing the phantom of democracy in the Middle East, not to mention more than 6,700 American dead, more than 50,000 wounded and millions of lives disrupted.

That is why American voters elected Donald Trump in 2016.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
WATCH: IDF Confuses Syrian Missile System and Returns the Missiles to Sender
[Jewish Press, HT Insty] Something very strange seems to have happened during the Israeli Air Force’s large-scale attack on Syrian and Iranian targets in Syria overnight.

In a video released by IntelliTimes, which is reportedly of the Syrian missile system launching rockets at the Israeli Air Force last night, one clearly sees Syrian missile after missile become "confused", turn around, and return to the ground and explode...

The blog estimates that this may indicate a loss of radar lock after the launch, or another proactive action that prevented the missiles from starting their course toward the target.

Security sites reported in the past that Israel wanted to install radar blocks on its F-35 aircraft which would enable the aircraft to bypass enemy radar systems. Similar reports have suggested that the IAF F-35 planes are equipped with a system that prevents its detection by enemy radar.

Back in 2012, an IAF official told Av Week that while the stealth of the F-35 in its current form would be cracked and overcome in 5–10 years, the aircraft will be in service for 30–40 years, which is why Israel insisted on making its own changes to the aircraft's electronic warfare systems.

Defense Minister Naftali Bennett declared on Wednesday that "the rules have changed. Anyone who shoots at the State of Israel during the day will not sleep at night. Like last week and now this week. Our message to Iran's leaders is simple: You are no longer immune. Wherever you stretch your tentacles-we will hack them off."

#2  No way I'm an expert in such things, but I'd expect that if a missile lost lock, it would maneuver to search and re-acquire. The problem with that is that SAMs are sprinters and don't have any loiter time.

'Black Hawk Down' Veteran Dies at Age 64
[MIL.com] ROCKFORD, Illinois -- Delta Force sniper Sgt. 1st Class James P. McMahon's face was so badly battered and cut, "he looked like he was wearing a fright mask" as he stood atop a downed Black Hawk helicopter and pulled free the body of a fellow soldier from the wreckage.

That's the first description of McMahon in the book by journalist Mark Bowden called "Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War." It is a detailed account of the horrific Battle of the Black Sea fought in the streets of Mogadishu, Somalia, in October 1993. It claimed the lives of 18 elite American soldiers.

Among the survivors was McMahon, a 1972 Durand High School graduate who served in the U.S. Army for nearly three decades.

Friends and family along with fellow soldiers and veterans on Saturday will lay McMahon to rest at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Durand. He died Nov. 5 at age 64, according to his obituary, which did not reference a cause of death.

-Signs, Portents, and the Weather-
Three Cows Washed Away by Hurricane Dorian Show Up Weeks Later
[Gun & Garden] After Hurricane Dorian blew through the Outer Banks of North Carolina on September 6, park officials at Cape Lookout National Seashore immediately got to work assessing damages. Debris littered the beaches, cabins were battered, and new inlets were carved by the Category 1 storm. But what most perplexed the park’s spokesperson, B.G. Horvat, was the tan, skittish female cow found milling about the island.

"It’s unusual for a cow to be out there, but there was a lot going on," Horvat says. "So the cow really wasn’t a big priority."

The park’s workers continued clean-up efforts with little thought about their new four-legged friend until about three weeks later, when two more cows appeared. The park’s castaways are believed to be from nearby Cedar Island, where a nine-foot storm surge churned up by Dorian likely pulled them into the Core Sound, Horvat says. Somehow, officials believe, the cows must have swum through the sound before finding solid ground on North Core Banks, the northernmost section of Cape Lookout National Seashore‐a distance of at least three miles. Horvat isn’t sure exactly how far they traveled, but he thinks they might’ve found some reprieve from swimming by standing in the shallow areas of the sound.

"My mouth dropped," Horvat says. "Oh man, imagine the story that cow must have from surviving this traumatic episode in the water."

The cattle don’t appear to be injured and seem to be settling into their new home at Cape Lookout just fine. The park has yet to identify the cows’ owner, so officials haven’t decided whether to keep the cows on the national seashore or move them back to Cedar Island. Several other cows and horses from the island didn’t survive the storm, the Charlotte Observer reported.

For now, park visitors can see the new wild cattle that freely graze the national seashore and have become somewhat of a symbol of the Outer Banks’ resilience in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian.

Europe
Viktor Orbán: Western Europe is Finished, Central is the Future
[Summit] Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán says that the situation in western Europe means that the continent must look to central European countries like Hungary and the Czech Republic for a bright future.

Orbán gave a speech in Prague on Sunday in memory of the 1989 Velvet Revolution in 1989, which saw the end of Communist rule in Czechoslovakia.

"Thirty years ago we thought that Europe was our future, but today we think we are Europe’s future, and we are ready for this mission," said Orbán.

The Prime Minister warned that globalists in western Europe are currently in the process of wiping out a European society based on nation states and Christian culture and that central European countries were standing up to this.

"We want to live as free nations, not as provinces or subordinates to empire," said Orbán, adding, "We are Central European Democrats. Therefore, we must defend the sovereignty of nation states, because if we abandon it, it will mean the end of democracy."

One way Orbán is trying to rebuild his country is by encouraging its citizens to have children in order to eliminate the need for mass immigration.

Hungary is offering €30,600 to married couples who have three or more children.

A married couple receives the €30,600 as a loan from the government upon getting married. The loan then has to be repaid until the couple has three children. At this point, the debt is completely forgiven.

The impact of pro-family policies in Hungary has been massive.

Abortions dropped from 40,449 to 28,500 from 2010 to 2017, divorces fell from 23,873 in 2010 to 18,600, and marriages increase by a huge 42 percent.

Britain
320 ‘Bleed Control Kits' to be Given to Bars in London
[Summit] 320 ’bleed control kits’ are to be given to bars in the City of London as the UK capital’s knife crime epidemic continues to soar.

The kits will be handed out by City of London police across the 1.12 square mile center of the city at a cost of £25,000.

Authorities said they were "proud" to launch the initiative, with David Lawes, Chief Superintendent of the City of London Police, telling Sky News that the decision was a "no brainer."

"This is a really, really simply piece of kit which can make a big difference. Particularly with the most catastrophic bleeds, if you don’t get help in the first few minutes the person will almost certainly die," said Lawes.

"The kits contain tourniquets, trauma bandages, adhesive chest seals and foil blankets, and can help treat both knife and gunshot wounds. Bar staff will be trained in their use, so that victims of violent crime will not bleed out before an ambulance can reach them," writes Jack Hadfield.

Knife crime in the City of London jumped by 43% over the last year while in that same time period England saw a record high of 43,000 knife crimes across the country.

Violent crime levels show little sign of coming down as authorities refuse to tackle some of the core reasons for the bloodshed, which include broken families, weakened police powers and mass migration.

Europe
On Ukraine's bleak front line, US aid saves lives and morale
AVDIIVKA, Ukraine (AP) ‐ U.S.-made medical equipment, night-vision devices and countermortar radar make a difference for Ukrainian troops fighting Kremlin-backed separatists on the front line of the standoff between Russia and the West. Sometimes, it’s the difference between life and death.

So when $400 million in U.S. military aid to Kyiv was held up this year, Ukrainians got nervous.

Every little bit of assistance helps in the World War I-style trenches of Avdiivka, where conscripts and volunteer soldiers use shovels to shore up mud walls, chop wood for makeshift stoves, and cook their own food from local vegetables and canned supplies.

Rostyslav Pokotylo shows off the American flag inside the case for his night-vision gun scope, which he credits with saving his life in 2017.

"I ended up in a combat zone ... If not for this, who knows what would have happened," he says. "With its help, I could see the enemy. I saw the enemy first, and we opened fire."

As impeachment hearings play out in Washington, Ukrainian troops at the front described their hopes and fears to The Associated Press in the five-year conflict that has taken 13,000 lives and still simmers on, sporadic gunfire punctuating the autumn calm.

In the hearings, Democrats in Congress say U.S. President Donald Trump pressured his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, to investigate former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, a Democratic rival, while withholding U.S. military aid to Kyiv. Trump says the aid was held up over corruption concerns.

Some family doctors ditch insurance for simpler approach
[Med Press] Dr. Emilie Scott was only a few months into her first job when she started hearing the complaint: She was spending too much time with each patient.

Like many primary care doctors working in large medical systems, Scott was encouraged to see a new patient every 20 minutes. But that was barely enough time to talk and do a physical.

She eventually quit her job to try a new approach aimed at eliminating many of the headaches of traditional health care: tight schedules, short appointments and piles of insurance paperwork.

Instead of billing insurers, Scott now charges patients a $79 monthly fee that covers office visits, phone calls, emails, texts and certain medical tests and procedures. Scott typically sees six patients a day, down from around 30, and spends more time at each appointment. She hired two assistants to help handle paperwork compared with working with a department of billing specialists.

This approach —direct primary care—aims to leverage the extra time and money from avoiding insurance into improving care for patients.

"As far as our financial success, it does not depend upon having a team of people to figure out how to get money from the insurance company," said Scott, who co-owns a private practice in Irvine, California that serves about 900 patients. Scott said the practice has grown by word-of-mouth, without advertising.

In many ways, direct primary care is a return to a simpler time when doctors charged cash for their services. Patients say they appreciate the accessibility and simplicity of the system.

But health care researchers question its cost-effectiveness and whether it will ever be capable of serving large numbers of people.

#1  But health care researchers question its cost-effectiveness and whether it will ever be capable of serving large numbers of people.

This is how you can tell news stories are "fair and balanced": Any discussion of something that might be good *always* has a big "But..." at the end quoting unnamed experts stating how this might actually be awful.

In this particular case, if the business is not cost-effective, patients will leave and Dr Emilie will go broke. As for large numbers of people, is the goal to see and treat patients or just run them thru the system?

#4  I joined MDVIP which costs Pts 1650/year with that covering a wellness program so their sick visits, hospitalizations, other consults are covered under insurance. There are 1200 other docs in USA affiliated who will see my patients in other towns if need be. We save Medicare +300,000,000/year by decreasing hospitalizations and other morbidities. Same day visits, 24/7 access and long office visits are thrown in on top so to speak. There IS a light at the end of the tunnel for patients and Docs! It also gives me more time for other pursuits such as being a FS with ANG.

#5  Concierge medicine has been slowly growing since the turn of the millennium. I’m glad it works well for you and your patients, Dr. Titus Thud4344. Question: Are most of your patients in reasonably good health with only the common complaints? How would it work a patient with a rare, chronic condition with co-morbidities that require expensive meds/treatments? What about something difficult to diagnose? And what would happen to you and your patients if, God forbid, single payer became the law?

Home Front: Culture Wars
Pardons, Military Discipline and the Burden on Our Troops
Kurt Schlichter
[Townhall] To the extent the pardons irritate the elite, good. This preemptively makes them something we should support, though that presumption is rebuttable. Real war crimes must be punished.

To the extent that these pardons send a message that it is okay to violate military rules and the laws of war, it is less clear. Here’s the thing: we have a hyper-partisan political culture and the military brass is not immune, as we have seen in Congress lately. Its conduct in some of these cases has been utterly shameful.

For example, in the case of Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher, the JAGs literally used malware to spy on the defense team. Think about that. The JAGs literally used malware to spy on the defense team. Judge Schlichter ‐ me in a hypothetical, not my mom in reality, since she was a judge ‐ would have dismissed the entire case and referred the lawyers for prosecution themselves. It’s craziness. And it’s corrupt. A corrupt prosecution cannot stand ‐ let’s put Adam Schiff aside for a moment ‐ even if the accused is guilty of offing some ISIS punk.
Seen it in Itifada I: for these people in IDF - Arabs are the victims to be protected from evil Zionist oppressors like yours truly.
But, of course, the Navy JAGs’ prime witness got on the stand testified that he, not Gallagher, offed the ISIS punk. As a lawyer, this would have been kind of embarrassing. It was the ultimate Perry Mason moment, if Perry Mason was an idiot.

So, Gallagher had to be entirely exonerated because of prosecutorial misconduct, and since the military justice system did not have the integrity to enforce the standards ‐ for shame ‐ then it was right for the president to do so.

...Military discipline matters. But so does backing your guys’ play when they make tough, ugly calls.

Major Matt Golsteyn, an ex-Green Beret, was accused of killing an Afghan bomb maker. It was not in a firefight. He apparently sought the guy out and shot him. If they guy was a bomb maker, Golsteyn probably saved the limbs and lives of many Americans (and Afghans). But you are not allowed to freelance hits on the enemy, which itself seems odd since it is a war.

... I led soldiers. I know the importance of discipline. I also know history and human nature. We can’t put our troops out into a hostile fire zone where the enemy has no rules but can hide in plain sight behind ours, killing at will but being immunized from being killed by regulations, and not expect that status quo to grow untenable.

Similarly, Army First Lieutenant Clint Lorance was pardoned after doing six years of a 19-year stretch for having his troops shoot an alleged Taliban dirtbag outside the rules of engagement. Members of his own platoon testified against him, while the testimony of local Afghans was, shall we say, controversial. Even if he did it, was two decades in stir right? Or was six appropriate? Or maybe just a discharge? Or should he have got a medal?
IMO, these pardons are messages:
(a) True, they've violated the rules - but these were stupid (as well as immoral) rules.
(b) A message to military brass - loyalty is a two way street. Don't cover your ass by sending soldiers out with orders that cannot be obeyed.
(c) A message to JAG-holes - remember who the enemy are. It is NOT our own soldiers (seen it in Intifada I).
(d) And the main message is to the ragheads. The rules have changed. Learn to behave or perish.

Liz Warren Sez More Americans Should Serve in Military, Supports Military Budget Cuts
[Free Beacon] Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) on Wednesday called for more Americans to serve in the military despite her support for military budget cuts.

Asked if the percentage of Americans serving in the military should be higher during the Democratic debate in Atlanta, Warren responded "yes." But the senator has promised to "take a sharp knife" to America's military budget as president, telling reporters in September, "if the question is, ’do I think we should cut the military budget,' the answer's yes."

Although Warren eventually mentioned inducing more people to "serve in our federal lands to help rebuild our national forests," the bulk of her answer centered around her brother's deployment to Vietnam, which has featured heavily in the Massachusetts senator's stump speech.

"I think the notion of shared service is important," Warren said. "It's how we help bring our nation together ... It's also about how families share that sacrifice."

"I remember what it was like when I was a little girl," Warren continued. "My brother, my oldest brother who served five and a half years off and on in combat in Vietnam, what it was like for my mother every day to check the mailbox."

Warren's Medicare for All proposal calls for $800 billion in revenue from cuts in military spending and commits to pulling out of "endless wars" in the Middle East. According to national security expert Giselle Donnelly, Warren's proposed spending cuts would be "crippling" for the nation's military and would "immediately handicap military readiness."

#7  Miss Warren like a lot of congresscritter have no understanding of the Constitution. She sits in the legislative branch whose powers defined by the Constitution reads -

16. To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the militia, and for governing such part of them as may be employed in the service of the United States, reserving to the states respectively, the appointment of the officers, and the authority of training the militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

It's already on the books so to speak. The implementing authority is Title X USC

§246. Militia: composition and classes

(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.

(b) The classes of the militia are—

(1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and

(2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.

That is what the 'Draft' is, the activation of the federal militia, aka selective service. Apparently, she doesn't mind the outright sexism of the disparate impact upon the male prostate portion of the existing law.

The Game's Afoot in Ukraine: Burisma Reportedly Indicted for Money Laundering
h/t Instapundit
[PJMedia] I've been wondering for weeks just what about the famous July 25 phone call (VIP) was so threatening to LTC-yes-that-means-Lieutenant-Colonel Alex Vindman that his reaction to the call was to be "literally shaken" and then bring it up with counsel, the infamous first Eric Ciaramella whistleblower, and eventually with the Democratic staff of the House Special Permanent Committee on Intelligence.

But while never revealing his name to Schiff or something.

All along, I've been wondering two things: why was this phone call enough to make a combat veteran visibly shaken, and where was the Macguffin. But it was more and more clear that this wasn't just a matter of which political side was winning, because while politics might make you mad, they don't generally make you scared.

So today, while the inquisition was putting the thumbscrews on Ambassador Sondland, ZeroHedge has a story that Burisma, through founder Nikolai Zlochevsky, has been indicted for money laundering, including the accusation that "Hunter Biden and his partners received $16.5 million for their 'services' as part of a money laundering operation that also involved the [former President Viktor] Yanukovych family is suspected, in particular, with legalizing (laundering) of criminally obtained income through Franklin Templeton Investments, an investment fund carrying out purchases of external government loan bonds totaling $7.4 billion."

This is ZeroHedge, and I don't trust them 100 percent by any means, but then there's a news story on Interfax-Ukraine that covers the press conference in which members of the Ukrainian Parliament demanded an investigation.

Now things start to stack up. We've seen that Vindman has close ties to the previous Ukrainian government, dating back to Yanukovych and his successor Petro Poroshenko, while this alleged money-laundering scheme was taking place. The connection to the Franklin Templeton Fund is interesting because John Templeton, Jr. was a major Obama campaign donor, and Thomas Donilon, who was Obama's National Security Advisor before Susan Rice and is now the chairman of BlackRock Investment Institute, a major owner of Franklin Templeton stock.

...Now, a little graft in the amount of a few million dollars is one thing, but $7.5 billion is real money, and a friend in the NSC could be really helpful. Especially with a couple friends in CIA and another one in an executive office in the West Wing.

This is still only based on supposition, and I'd like to see more support for this story. But, well, what did Vindman know, and when did he know it?
And what was his cut?
And who else knew it?

Netherlands cuts aid to Palestinian Authority over terrorist salaries
[Jpost] The country had given about $1.6 million directly to the Paleostinian Authority annually to pay the salaries of justice ministry employees.

The Dutch government has cut funding for the Paleostinian Authority over its salaries to holy warriors serving time in Israeli jails.

The aid ministry announced the move Wednesday during annual budget talks.

In 2017, the Paleostinian Authority paid about $198 million to a fund for the families of holy warriors killed during their attacks and about $160 million to Paleostinians being held in Israeli jails, according to Israeli Defense Ministry figures.

The Netherlands spends several million dollars each year on aid to the Paleostinian Authority and Paleostinian populations elsewhere in the Middle East but most of that money is given to agencies and nongovernmental organizations.

The country had given about $1.6 million directly to the Paleostinian Authority annually to pay the salaries of justice ministry employees.

The aid ministry said that talks with the Paleostinian body "did not lead to the desired outcome."

-Lurid Crime Tales-
President Trump Never Impounded Even One Dollar from Ukraine Aid
[American Thinker] Volodymyr Zelensky was wiping his face from the crumbs of a 125-million-dollar meal, fed to him by the Pentagon between March and July of 2019, when he spoke to President Trump on July 25.

The president needs better legal counsel, as do the American people. The current impeachment illusion is based on a pandemic mirage. The nation has been hypnotized to believe that $391.5 million for Ukraine was held back, frozen, slow-walked, canceled, or subject to a nefarious threat by Trump. Wake up, America. Every penny of Ukraine monetary aid, the alleged carrot dangled before Zelensky, was spent on time, according to law, before, during, and after the July 25 call.

The Department of Defense certified Ukraine reforms in a May 23, 2019 letter from John C. Rood to Congress, but this certification was only necessary to release the second $125-million tranche. Read the letter. The tables therein refer to that $125 million as "Tranche 2." So what happened to the first $125 million? It was already spent on Ukraine before the July 25 phone call with Zelensky.

On February 28, Rood wrote to Congress about the first $125 million. He informed Congress the Pentagon was going ahead with this money for Ukraine. It was spent by July to defend Ukraine from Russian aggression. This is the real reason why neither Zelensky nor any other Ukraine official knew that assistance was "held up." The money was flowing freely to them, never subject to nefarious Trump subterfuge. How do I know this? It's hiding in plain sight.

#4  what Trump actually did was sound grumpy in Washington about giving aid to Ukraine.
He told that to Senator Johnson.(but he added:'you will like what we will do')
This I think had the effect of making Democrats enthusiastic about thwarting him, by voting for more aid, and indeed 250k in lethal aid was approved by Congress for fiscal year 2020. Having already sent the smaller amount approved for lethal aid in 2019, he then, following the dictate of Congress. approved more lethal aid on the day that fiscal year 2020 began.
Diplomatically, this allows Trump to tell Putin this was Congress and not himself that did this, and further satisfied Zelensky.
So was Trump's grumpiness about helping Ukraine real, or put on to get Democratic support for it?

More Than 100,000 DACA Applicants Have Been Arrested‐Murder, Rape, DUI
[Judicial Watch] More than 100,000 illegal immigrants who requested a special Obama-era amnesty for adults who came to the U.S. as children have criminal histories, according to an alarming report released this month by the government. Offenses committed by the illegal aliens seeking protection, benefits and rights under the policy known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) include murder, rape, weapon and assault charges. DACA has shielded nearly 800,000 illegal aliens under the age of 31 from deportation and allowed them to obtain work permits and drivers licenses. Obama launched the outrageous measure through executive order in 2012 to help children who came to the U.S. "through no fault of their own." The Trump administration tried to end DACA in 2017 but open borders groups sued to keep it going and now the Supreme Court is set to decide the matter.

Regardless of how the high court may rule, the fact remains that a big chunk of DACA applicants have arrest records, according to the figures released by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Homeland Security agency that administers the nation’s lawful immigration system. The stats show that nearly 110,000 DACA requestors out of nearly 889,000 had arrest records, accounting for 12% of applicants. "Offenses in these arrest records include assault, battery, rape, murder and driving under the influence," USCIS writes in a statement announcing the report. Here’s another disturbing fact; of approved DACA requestors with an arrest, a whopping 85% (67,861) were arrested right before the U.S. granted them amnesty. Nearly 25,000 DACA recipients with arrests had multiple arrests and 218 had more than 10 arrests. Incredibly, around one-fourth of the illegal immigrants with more than 10 arrests were approved by the government as of last month. In all, the government reveals that it has approved 79,398 DACA requestors with arrest records. Not all the delinquents are approved, the figures show. More than 100,000 with criminal arrests were denied or terminated.

Most of the arrested DACA approvals involve driving infractions and immigration related civil and criminal offenses, but thousands were granted amnesty after committing serious crimes. Nearly 8,000 illegal immigrants granted protection under DACA committed theft or larceny, the records show, and nearly 7,000 drug-related offenses. More than 4,000 were apprehended for driving under the influence, 3,421 for battery and 3,308 for assault. Thousands of others rewarded with DACA committed vandalism, burglary, offenses against children and weapons crimes. Hundreds of others were approved for DACA despite arrests for sexual abuse and rape, kidnapping or trafficking, hit and run, embezzlement and a variety of other serious offenses. Fifteen illegal aliens with murder charges got DACA as well as 15 street gang members and two arrested for child pornography. Most of the DACA candidates were arrested between the age of 19 and 22 though tens of thousands were also arrested between 23 and 26, well into adulthood. Mexicans account for the overwhelming majority of DACA recipients arrested (91,272) followed by El Salvador (4,998), Honduras (4,597) and Guatemala (4,304).

Iran mobilises half a million paramilitary Basij as IRGC intensifies crackdown
[Rudaw] While the crackdown has been vicious since protests gained momentum on Friday night, the IRGC’s official entrance onto the scene will likely have dire consequences for the protesters, with the number of dead expected to rise.

The IRGC said on Monday that they would respond to any saboteurs with "decisive" and "revolutionary" manner after the Supreme Leader, the ultimate decision maker in the country, ordered security forces to restore calm and refused to bow to the demands of the protesters, whom he labelled "thugs".

"The officials in charge of the security must fulfil their duties," said Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

Israel closes PA-funded TV station, Palestinian education office in Jerusalem
[IsraelTimes] Director of the Paleostinian Authority-funded al-Araz production company that hosts Paleostine TV temporarily arrested; correspondent for the channel summoned for questioning.

Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan confirmed the closure of offices used by Paleostine TV and the Ministry of Education.

"I will continue to pursue a firm policy against any attempt by the Paleostinian Authority to violate our illusory sovereignty in the capital," Erdan said in a statement seeking to justify the closures.

Erdan also accused Paleostine TV of producing anti-Israel content in which the country is presented as "responsible for war crimes and ethnic cleansing."

US man pleads guilty to threatening to kill Rep. Ilhan Omar
[IsraelTimes] Patrick Carlineo admits to charges that carry up to 10 years in prison, insists he never meant to actually harm the controversial congresswoman.

A western New York man pleaded guilty Monday to threatening to kill US Rep. Ilhan Omar
...Somali-American Dem representative from Minnesota. She is apparently married to her brother and may be her own grandmaw on her mother's side...
of Minnesota.

Patrick Carlineo entered the plea Monday in Rochester, admitting to charges that carry up to 10 years in prison. His sentencing is set for February 14.

US Attorney James Kennedy Jr. said the case highlights that free speech rights carry the responsibility "that individuals not make threats to harm politicians simply because they may disagree with them."
"Unless if they're Republicans. Then it's 'anything goes'". See Dick
"Dick" Durbin's correspondence friend James Hodgkinson

Omar, a Democrat, is among the first Moslem women in Congress. Her office had no immediate comment on Carlineo’s plea.

Prosecutors say the 55-year-old called Omar’s office March 21, told a staffer the congresswoman was a "terrorist" and threatened to shoot her.

Carlineo later told the FBI that he is a patriot, hates people he perceives to be radical Moslems in the US government, and loves Republican President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
, according to a criminal complaint.

Carlineo’s lawyer, Sonya Zoghlin, says Carlineo is passionate about his political beliefs and his right to express them.

"He has taken responsibility for using threatening and inappropriate language to express those beliefs in this instance," she said in an email, adding that Carlineo never intended to harm Omar and never made any plans to do so.

Carlineo’s plea included admitting he illegally had guns. He’d been barred from possessing them after a 1998 felony criminal mischief conviction, prosecutors said.

Government
DOJ Inspector General Report Documents FBI Misuse Of Secret Sources
[The Federalist] The government watchdog of the Department of Justice released a report Tuesday that found "numerous issues" with the FBI’s handling of confidential sources.

The 63-page report covers 2012 to 2019, which includes the time-frame of the 2016 presidential election and former FBI Director James Comey’s entire tenure at the law enforcement agency. It indicted the FBI’s management of secret sources as noncompliant with attorney general guidelines.
Nothing illegal mind you.
"Ineffective management and oversight of confidential sources can result in jeopardizing FBI operations and placing FBI agents, sources, subjects of investigation, and the public in harms way," said DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz in a two-minute video announcing the findings of the report.

The inspector general’s report said that FBI headquarters lacked adequate staff and oversight and provided unclear guidance to conduct its operations involving confidential human sources.
Source-Lead operations be hard.
The confidential human source program is important to the FBI’s efforts to carry out its mission, the report says, and such sources are hired for a wide range of objectives in addition to counterintelligence.

The FBI used confidential human sources in its 2016 investigation of the Trump campaign to determine whether campaign staff were colluding with the Russian government. Yet the allegations of Russian collusion turned up to be a hoax following a two-year investigation with unlimited resources by a congressionally appointed special counsel.

The inspector general’s report determined that the FBI lacked the proper processes to maintain the necessary levels of oversight among such long-term sources, allowing some to continue operating when they should not have.
"Continued operating"....for whom ?
"We found that the FBI lacked an automated process to analyze the threat areas in which is has CHS coverage and relied on an ineffective process that could result in outdated information," the report said. "Without clear guidance, we believe there is increased operational security risk that could result in agents and (sources) being put in harm’s way."

The report also found faults in the FBI vetting of confidential sources that did not comply with Justice Department rules, and noted that the FBI has problems aligning the right sources with the appropriate threat priorities.
Yes, we've had a problem with source operations since our founding in 1908. More time needed.
The Justice Department’s office of inspector general has offered the FBI 16 recommendations to fix the program and until then, has ordered the agency to place tighter restrictions on information related to the program to personnel with a need to know.

"Recommendations"....? Not to be confused with employment terminations, indictments, or Grand Jury actions. If you somehow believe nothing will ever come of this entire matter, you're very likely on to something.

Alleged whistleblower Eric Ciaramella shakes hands with Barack Obama in Oval Office
[Washington Examiner] A year after Ukraine official and alleged whistleblower Eric Ciaramella left President Trump’s White House, a picture of him shaking Barack Obama’s hand was published on a close friend's wedding website.

The Oval Office photograph, obtained by the Washington Examiner, is circulating among Trump allies who consider it evidence that the alleged whistleblower is biased against Trump and had partisan motivations when he filed an Aug. 12 complaint that sparked impeachment proceedings.

In the photograph, a smiling Ciaramella, then Ukraine director on the National Security Council at the White House, is shown shaking Obama's hand. They are standing in front of a portrait of Abraham Lincoln by George Henry Story.

A Republican close to the White House said the photo was evidence Ciaramella supported Obama and its selection for the wedding website indicated he considered the Oval Office image a "glamour shot." "This photo confirms that career intelligence and foreign service officials serving at the highest ranks of the Trump White House have their own agenda and their own policy viewpoints," the Republican source said.

The website for the September 2018 wedding of Mat Calabro, a Connecticut high school friend of Ciaramella, is now defunct. The two friends traveled through Central and Eastern Europe together in the summer of 2005, and Ciaramella was a best man at Calabro's wedding in Newport, Rhode Island.

An Obama photograph was prized by White House staff during his time in office. When aides departed the NSC, they were given the chance to have a photo with the president, according to former aides. Staff still at the council when Obama left office were given the chance to get a photograph. It appears this was the occasion for Ciaramella to secure his keepsake image. Trump discontinued the tradition of routinely posing with departing staff.

"This picture raises serious questions about how this sham impeachment process started," a senior Trump administration official said. "It’s no surprise that [House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam] Schiff has now changed his story about letting the falsely labeled whistleblower testify."

Ciaramella, 33, is a career CIA analyst who is now a deputy national intelligence officer for Russia and Eurasia on the National Intelligence Council under the director of national intelligence. From 2015, Ciaramella was the NSC's Ukraine director, the post currently occupied by Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, who has testified against Trump and with whom Ciaramella still has professional dealings. The Washington Post has suggested that Vindman spoke to the whistleblower about the July 25 telephone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Terror Networks
More Countries Affected by Terrorism Even as Deaths Fall, Index Shows
[AnNahar] The number of global deaths from terrorism fell 15.2 percent in 2018, even as the number of countries affected by krazed killer violence continued to grow, the 2019 Global Terrorism Index showed.

From a high of 33,555 deaths in 2014, when the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) group lured tens of thousands of jihadists to the Middle East, the number of terrorism deaths has more than halved to 15,952 in 2018, the index published by the Sydney-based Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP) showed.

The largest declines in 2018 were recorded in Iraq, which proclaimed a military victory over IS the previous year, and Somalia, where US forces have been conducting Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s against Shabaab gunnies since 2017.

For the first time since 2003, Iraq was not the country worst-hit by terrorism, according to the index which defines terrorism as "the threatened or actual use of illegal force and violence by a non‐state actor to attain a political, economic, religious, or social goal through fear, coercion, or intimidation".

Afghanistan, where the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
succeeded IS as the world's deadliest terror group, topped the table with 1,443 attacks killing 7,379 people, ahead of Iraq with 1,131 attacks that left 1,054 dead and Nigeria, with 562 attacks that killed 2,040 people.

Syria, which counted 131 incidents that claimed 662 lives, ranked fourth.

In Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
, where no major terror attack was recorded in 2018, the number of deaths fell from over 200 in 2017 to 62.

"The collapse of ISIS (IS) in Syria and Iraq was one of the factors allowing Western Europe to record its lowest number of incidents since 2012, with no deaths attributed to the group in 2018," IEP executive chairman Steve Killelea wrote in a statement accompanying the report.

"However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
the situation still remains volatile, with large parts of Syria being contested and many smaller groups sympathetic to ISIS philosophies being active, leaving the possibility of further Islamist attacks in Europe," he added.

The report also noted that while "the intensity of terrorism has declined...terrorism is still widespread and increasing."

In 2018, 71 countries suffered at least one terrorism-related death, the second-highest number since the beginning of the century.

The index meanwhile noted a huge leap in the deaths caused by far-right terrorism in Western Europe, North America and Oceania, with the number of deaths growing by 320 percent over the past five years.

It cited the March attacks on two mosques in the New Zealand city of Christchurch, which killed 51 people, as an example of far-right ideology spreading to a country with "almost no prior history of terrorist activity".

In the US, the increase in far-right terrorism was mirrored by an increase in hate crimes, the report found.

But an overwhelming majority of terror attacks took place in countries involved in violent conflict.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Protests Continuing in Lebanon as Uprising Enters Day 35
[AnNahar] University and school students in several parts in north Leb skipped classes on Wednesday in a stand of solidarity with Leb’s uprising and the latest arrests of protesters in Beirut's Downtown area.

In Akkar’s al-Joumeh area students staged sit-in "in solidarity with the incidents in Riad al-Solh," in Beirut said the National News Agency.

Three protesters were maimed and several arrested --released Wednesday-- in scuffles with riot police in Riad al-Solh Square Tuesday evening.

Activists invited Leb’s schools to suspend classes and partake in a sit-in held Akkar's town of al-Ayoun.

Also in Akkar, protesters blocked several major roads protesting the incident. In the city’s major square in Halba and in the town of Rahbeh protesters marched the streets forcing the closure of institutions, banks, private and public schools.

Moreover, in al-Koura district a number of students gathered on the campus of Balamand University in solidarity with the demands of the popular movement.

Leb has since October 17 been rocked by an unprecedented wave of popular street revolt that have cut across sectarian lines.

Leb's parliament, besieged by angry protesters , for a second time postponed on Tuesday a session to discuss draft laws which critics charge would let corrupt politicians off the hook.

After a morning of noisy demonstrations outside the chamber, and after several political parties had said they would boycott the session, parliament official Adnane Daher appeared before TV cameras announcing the news.

Tuesday evening, NNA said the Riad al-Solh skirmishes broke out after some protesters tried to cross the barbed wire and enter into Nejmeh Square where parliament building is located.

Iraq
US threatens to sanction Iraq officials over protest deaths
[Rudaw] US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told a presser in Washington on Monday the US will impose sanctions on those found responsible for maiming and killing Iraqi protesters.

"We support the Iraqi people who strive for a prosperous Iraq free of corruption and Iranian influence," Pompeo said. "Iraq leaders should respect human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
"The United State will start to put sanctions on corrupt individuals in Iraq who are stealing Iraq’s wealth and killing and wounding peaceful protesters."

At least 320 protesters and members of the security forces have been killed since October 1 and around 15,000 maimed.

Several of Iraq’s largest political parties met on Monday evening and agreed to give Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi a "45 days waiver" to make reforms ‐ otherwise he will be ousted from office.

Shiite holy man and Sayirun bloc leader Moqtada Tater al-Sadr
... the Iranian catspaw holy man who was 22 years old in 2003 and was nearing 40 in 2010. He spends most of his time in Iran, safely out of the line of fire, where he's learning to be an ayatollah...
, who supports the aims of the protesters, did not participate in the meeting.

Ammar al-Hakim, leader of the Hikma Front, which considers itself part of the official parliamentary opposition, hosted the meeting at his home in the Iraqi capital Baghdad.

In a joint statement, the parties said they want reforms that preserve the state, develop political institutions, and preserve the right to protest peacefully.

The top priority is to stop the bloodshed, protect the lives of Iraqis, and to insulate them "from a civil war, destruction, and eradication, which will spare no one", the statement said.

The parties agreed to preserve Iraq’s democracy, to the peaceful transition of power, and further recommended that Abdul-Mahdi and security authorities should preserve law and order to catch "saboteurs" who hide among protesters and to hold all those who have killed protesters or kidnapped them to account.

All recommendations and the demands of the people must be implemented within a period that "does not exceed 45 days", including reform packages already announced by the PM.

The government has already announced several measures in a bid to quell the protests, pledging to end corruption, deliver more job opportunities, and to provide welfare support to the poorest.

The protests have nevertheless continued to rage.

Protesters have begun blocking roads leading to major oil fields and have shut down whole city centers, leaving schools and workplaces empty.

According to AP, protests continued in the southern city of Basra on Tuesday, where dozens of protesters blocked the main entrance to Khor al-Zubair port ‐ Iraq’s second largest.

Iraq’s biggest port, Umm Qasr port, has also been blocked by protesters repeatedly since the unrest began.

The blockade of oilfields, oil tanker routes, and major ports has crippled the Iraqi economy, draining the country of billions of dollars. In a single week, the blockade at Umm Qasr has cost an estimated $6 billion.

's Interior Minister said on Wednesday that around 100,000 Syrians living without approval in Istanbul had left it since early July, when the government set a deadline for Syrians not registered in the city to leave for other provinces.

As sentiment towards Syrian refugees among Turks began to sour in recent years, authorities said Syrians not registered in Turkey's largest city should return to the provinces in which they are registered by Oct. 30, or face forced removal.

Turkey hosts some 3.6 million refugees who fled the eight-year-old civil war, more than any other country. The Syrian population in Istanbul, home to some 15 million people, had swollen to more than half a million, more than those in any other Ottoman Turkish city.

Syrians registered in other cities came to Istanbul, leading to an acculumation in the city, Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu told parliament.

"Around 100,000 Syrian have returned to provinces in which they are registered since July 12," he said, adding that a total of 200,000 migrants colonists had left the city.

Turkey also houses migrants colonists from other Middle Eastern and African nations.

On Friday, the Istanbul governor's office said more than 6,000 Syrian migrants colonists in Istanbul were sent to temporary housing centres in other provinces since early July.

Ankara wants to settle some Syrian refugees in a swathe of land it now controls in northeast Syria, after it launched an offensive last month against the Kurdish YPG militia.

Amnesia Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch last month published reports saying Turkey is forcibly sending Syrian refugees to northern Syria. Turkey's Foreign Ministry called the claims in the reports "false and imaginary."

Turkey has deported 86,625 illegal migrants colonists so far this year, compared to 56,000 in all of 2018, Soylu said.

#2  ^ They probably feature the entire federal bureaucracy in poses that would shame those Kamasutra artists. A lot of naked arses pumping away and people cavorting around with malicious glee on their very recognizable faces. In fact they may feature the very people in charge of processing the evidence.

And there's no legal way the videos can ever be released to the public. What do the authorities do with blackmail vids, or revenge p0rn ? I'm sure they destroy it all. Of course, an honest bureaucracy would have arrested the people in the videos by now, acted on the information about several statutory rapes and trafficking cases. The fact that nothing happened is something that screams 'corruption' to the people. They will not forget it. They will see it as Obama appointees and Clinton friends getting away with filth. And they will retaliate in 2020.

Afghanistan
Who defeated DAESH?
How very florid — and yet it fails to persuade.
[ALEMARAHENGLISH] The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan
...the formal name of the Taliban...
under the leadership of the martyred Amir ul Mumineen Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Mansoor (May Allah have mercy on him) started the fight against the Khawarij
...Khawarij is a fancy Muslim word for Splitters!!1! ...
known as ISIS after they attacked innocent Afghans and tried to impose barbarism over the communities in different parts of Afghanistan.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan considers the defense of Afghans and Afghanistan against all the enemies whether internal or external as a binding obligation and has shown the entire world that the struggle and fight of the Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate is for the defense and independence of Afghanistan.

When the fitnah of ISIS ‐ launched by foreign intelligence agencies and nurtured by the local stooge regime ‐ started their activities by targeting mosques, weddings, public gatherings and other political events to discredit the Mujahideen and tarnish the image of Jihad and Mujahideen, the wisdom of the leadership of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan played central role in countering these mercenaries with ideological and military mobilization. This scourge was exterminated in the southern parts of Afghanistan while those holed up in the northern parts of Afghanistan after being routed out by the forces of the Islamic Emirate were rescued in regime helicopters. Following crushing defeats around the country, the remnants of ISIS gathered in eastern provinces of Nangarhar

Iraqi officials: 27 wounded in renewed fighting in Baghdad
[THEBAGHDADPOST] Iraqi security officials say at least 27 protesters have been maimed in renewed festivities overnight in central Baghdad.

The officials say the festivities occurred between 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday near the Ahrar Bridge in the center of the capital. They spoke on condition of anonymity under regulations.

Iraqi security forces used tear gas to repel demonstrators from advancing to the fortified Green Zone, the seat of government. There were no fatalities.

The protesters had occupied one side of the bridge, with security forces deployed on the other.

At least 320 protesters have been killed and thousands maimed since the unrest began on October 1, when tens of thousands of protesters erupted into the streets outraged by government corruption and poor basic services despite Iraq’s vast oil wealth.

Biden, partners receive $16.5 mln in payments stolen from Ukraine -- MP Derkach
[EN.INTERFAX.UA] Some $16.5 million received by Hunter Biden, the son of former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, as payment from Burisma was stolen from Ukrainian citizens, member of parliament Andriy Derkach has said.

Derkach said at a press conference at the Kyiv-based Interfax-Ukraine news agency that on November 14 the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) announced a new suspicion to the owner of Burisma, former Ecology Minister Mykola Zlochevsky.

"The PGO document once again confirms the data I had previously published on Burisma and international corruption. According to Zlochevsky's suspicion notice, Biden and partners received their $16.5 million for their services to Burisma. Biden received funds not due to the successful activity of Burisma or for brilliant business decisions or recommendations. This is the money of Ukrainian citizens. The funds were obtained by criminal means. That's what they say in the PGO," Derkach said.

Derkach said the new suspicion notice to Zlochevsky was received by him from investigative journalists.

"According to the investigation, Zlochevsky was directly involved in the withdrawal of funds by the Yanukovych "family" (the Yanukovych criminal organization, according to the notice). They laundered the funds of Yanukovych through three companies in Latvia," Derkach said.

As reported, on October 9 Derkach made public official correspondence between the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the U.S. Embassy, according to which First Deputy NABU Director Gizo Uglava through his assistant Polina Chizh provided the U.S. Embassy with information that affected the course of events in Ukraine and the United States.

According to him, Chizh received an order from U.S. Embassy employee Hanna Yemelyanova to provide information on the case of Ex-Ecology Minister and Burisma Group owner Mykola Zlochevsky.

Zlochevsky revealed the amount of money that was transferred to the representatives of Burisma Group, including Hunter Biden. According to the documents, about $16.5 million was transferred in favor of Hunter Biden, Aleksander Kwasniewski, Alan Apter, and Devon Archer.

Desperate HK protesters explore sewers in bid to escape campus
[DAWN] Among the detritus of a scorched and graffiti-sprayed concourse at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, several plastic covers ‐ some with torches placed above them ‐ betray extraordinary underground escape plans.

Protesters have removed metal manholes, some making exploratory forays into the fetid tunnels, following rumours of successful exfiltrations from a campus ringed for three days by baton-wielding police determined to arrest them.

Pockets of protesters, some with thick bandages wrapped around their knees in anticipation of a long crawl to freedom, knot the holes discussing an unlikely ‐ and highly dangerous ‐ breakout.

Reporters saw one group on their stomachs practising crawling. Another group hugged each other in consolation after apparently agreeing not to take the route down into the unknown.

"The people outside can’t help us," a protester told local television as he prepared to descend into a sewer. "So what can we do?" One protester, gas mask on, and cling film wrapped around his arms, carried a torch as he descended with his backpack down the metal rungs into the subterranean gloom.
Al Ahram adds:
Rooters witnesses said fewer than 100 protesters remained inside the Hong Kong Polytechnic University after more than 1,000 were arrested since late on Monday.

Some surrendered, while others were nabbed in escape attempts that included trying to clamber down ropes onto waiting cycle of violences. Some protesters resurfaced inside the campus after unsuccessfully probing the sewers for a way out during the night. It was unclear if any had managed to escape that way.

A fire services diver was seen entering and emerging from a campus sewer opening during the night.

"It has been a disastrous life for us spending these days in Polytechnic University, because we can't live here. The supply of food, water, electricity is going to be run out," said a student named Alesa, who said she had tried twice to escape through the sewer.

"It's in vain," she said. "I'm a bit upset, but overall, I'm peaceful. I think if a generation are destined to be criminals, who is to save the next generation?" she said.

Police searched for potential escapees during the night with spotlights rather than using the tear gas and rubber bullets that had marked festivities in recent days, heeding calls from Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam for a humane end to a siege that saw the most intense festivities since the protests escalated more than five months ago.

They also tightened barricades in the streets surrounding the university, making them secure enough to be visited late on Tuesday night by the force's new commissioner, Chris Tang, at the end of his first day on the job.

Tang earlier urged the support of all citizens to end the unrest triggered by fears that China's central government is stifling the former British colony's freedoms and extensive autonomy guaranteed in its handover to Chinese rule in 1997.

Tang is under pressure to restore police morale as well as public confidence in a force that has come in for widespread criticism for increasingly violent tactics to suppress the protests. Police deny accusations of using excessive force.

The police quietly rolled out a new, harder-edged motto on Tang's first day, replacing "We Serve with Pride and Care" with "Serving Hong Kong with Honour, Duty and Loyalty".

Police have made more than 5,000 arrests since citywide protests escalated in June.

CHINA CONDEMNS US BILL
Chinese leaders say they are committed to the "one country, two systems" formula put in place in 1997 and have accused foreign countries, including Britannia and the United States, of stirring up trouble.

In Washington, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed the "Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act", which would require the secretary of state to certify at least once a year that Hong Kong retains enough autonomy to qualify for special U.S. trading consideration and would impose sanctions against officials responsible for human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
violations.

The bill must be reconciled with similar legislation approved by the House of Representatives. Senate aides said they expected it to move forward eventually as an amendment to a massive defence bill expected to pass Congress later this year.

China's foreign ministry condemned the passage of the bill, saying the United States should stop interfering in Hong Kong and Chinese affairs and move to stop the latest bills on Hong Kong from becoming law.

The Hong Kong government expressed "deep regret" over the bill's passage.

The unrest marks the most serious popular challenge to Chinese President Xi Jinping since he came to power in 2012.

Some protesters emerged as the sun rose above the Hong Kong Polytechnic University campus after a night spent sleeping on yoga mats to express a range of feelings, from defiance to uncertainty.

Others considered hiding in the maze of campus buildings, as they said a teacher had advised them to do.

"I already know where I will hide," a 19-year-old student, who gave his name only as Paul, said as he emerged in a hoodie, shorts and slippers to ask about breakfast in the canteen.

"I have enough food for at least a week and then will see what happens," he said.

Two protesters in full body armour, wielding metal rods, were going to get some sleep in the library after their night shift watching police movements outside.

"We need some energy to get ready for the big fight. Now that there's not many of us left they may want to come in," said a former student named Marc, 26.

"We know this place, it's our home and it is a maze. And we have weapons. We're not going to give up now, it's too late for that," he said.

Protesters still have stocks of petrol bombs, bows and arrows and other makeshift weapons after a weekend of fiery
...a single two-syllable word carrying connotations of both incoherence and viciousness. A fiery delivery implies an audience of rubes and yokels, preferably forming up into a mob...
festivities.

One protester practised firing arrows at a campus tower shortly after dawn.

The university on the Kowloon peninsula is the last of five that protesters had occupied to use as bases from which to disrupt the city over the past 10 days, blocking the central Cross-Harbour Tunnel outside and other arteries.

"It's still incredible we defended it for such a long time," said Ricky, a 21-year-old student. "Since the police have taken control, many started to feel afraid and left and now many of us feel desperate and unhappy because we lost some support."

Afghanistan’s president claims victory over IS
More on this story from yesterday.
[DAWN] Security forces have "obliterated" fighters of the hard boy Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) group in Afghanistan, President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money...
said on Tuesday, hours after a prisoner swap with Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
bully boyz raised hopes of a lull in violence in the country.

More than 600 fighters from IS, locally known as ISIS, have surrendered with their families to the Afghan government in past weeks. Officials said air strikes by Afghan and coalition forces, lack of funds and low morale have forced the group to give up.

"No one believed one year ago that we would stand up and today be saying we have obliterated ISIS," Ghani told a gathering of elders and officials in Jalalabad, the main city of eastern Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
province that saw a wave of suicide kabooms in past years claimed by the jihadists.

"Now that ISIS murderous Moslems have surrendered, I ask authorities to treat their families humanely," Ghani added.

The government said among fighters in its custody are foreign nationals from Pakistain, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and the Maldives.

However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...
the Afghan Taliban, which has been battling IS and the government for control of the country, disputed that.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban’s official front man, described Ghani’s announcement as "absurd".

"Kabul admin had 0% role in defeat of ISIS and the proud people of Nangarhar are witnesses," he tweeted.

The Taliban controls more territory than at any point since the US invasion in 2001, including sections of Nangarhar province.

Sabha military commander slams southern Libyan fighters who support Haftar's Tripoli offensive
[Libya Observer] The commander of the Sabha
...After the Libyan Civil War, Sabha grew in importance as a slave auctioning town. However, an investigation by the National Commission for Human Rights in Libya (NCHRL) revealed that while there was illegal slavery, reports were exaggerated, as slave auctions were rare and not made public. This was a great comfort to everyone but the slaves peddled in secret. The city was later seized by forces loyal to the Libyan National Army (LNA) and its leader Khalifa Haftar in January 2019, probably for its collection of MiG-25 aircraft....
military zone of the Presidential Council's government Ali Kanna has called on the southern Libyan military units fighting for Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
's forces in their attack against Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
to immediately withdraw.

Kanna told news hounds that Sabha military zone is with the Libyan Army of the Presidential Council's government in defending the capital in coordination with central and western military zones.

"All security forces in the south should be on alert to secure the southern region, oil fields and vital institutions. Also, all elders in the south should do their jobs by resolving the issues in the region." Kanna added.

The commander of Sabha military zone said they are in agreement with the National Oil Corporation in the need to leave the oil facilities out of the political conflict so the revenue can be distributed to all Libyans.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shattered spaceship, Fffflirgoll the Arcturan slithered stealthily toward the control room, where the humans had barricaded themselves...
the recruits of the Sabha military zone warned against any attacks that destabilize the southern region in Libya.

They said in a televised statement on Tuesday that they were ready to secure the southern region and to execute the orders of the Sabha military zone commander.

Steve Bannon Tried To Take Down Alleged Whistleblower Before Anyone Knew Who He Was
[WesternJournal] Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon told Vice News that he and others had been working years ago to see alleged Ukraine whistleblower Eric Ciaramella ousted from the White House.

Suspicious of Ciaramella’s loyalties early in 2017, Bannon and his allies were, however, prevented by then-National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster from possibly heading off the trouble of another mass media spectacle and manufactured political hit on the president, according to the Washington Examiner.

“I don’t think the individual naming of the whistleblower is important,” Bannon said, eventually citing a report he says tied him “to the efforts to get the gentleman who was named out of the National Security Council.”

“Absolutely true,” he said. “When I was in the White House, there was a number of people on the National Security Council [who wanted Ciaramella removed].

“The named individual eventually got let go, I believe, because people were suspicious — and not me, but other people around him — were suspicious about his leaking, and that’s why he was let go.”

According to the Examiner, Ciaramella — who has not denied widespread reports he is the one who blew the whistle on alleged impropriety in a July 25 phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky — was an NSC “holdover” from the Obama administration.

A lifelong CIA analyst, Ciaramella remained on the NSC for some time under Trump and was suspected by administration officials and right-wing bloggers of the alleged “high-level” leaking of the president’s communications with Australia and Mexico in 2017.

Iraq political deal hands Abdul Mahdi a reprieve in face of protests
[THEBAGHDADPOST] Iraq’s political forces have signed an agreement that will allow the government of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi and the current Parliament to continue to operate until the end of the year.

In return, they have pledged to implement a number of demands issued by protesters, including a crackdown on corruption, amendments to the electoral law, changes to the Independent High Electoral Commission and a comprehensive ministerial reshuffle within 45 days, politicians involved in the talks said on Tuesday.

However,
a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package...
the announcement of the deal, late on Monday, was criticized by protesters as an attempt by the political forces to give themselves some breathing space in the hope that the protests will run out of steam.

Widespread anti-government demonstrations began in Baghdad and nine Shiite-dominated southern provinces at the start of October. Since then, more than 300 people have been killed and 15,000 injured, mainly in Baghdad, by bullets and tear gas canisters during efforts by Abdul Mahdi’s government and its allies to suppress the unrest.

Protesters first erupted into the streets on Oct. 1 demanding action to address corruption, high unemployment and a lack of basic daily services and amenities. This prompted a brutal crackdown by Abdul Mahdi and his Iran-backed armed allies, during which 147 people were killed and more than 6,000 injured.

This temporarily halted the demonstrations but protesters returned to the streets on Oct. 24, after domestic and international pressure led to a pledge from security forces that they would not use live ammunition against demonstrators.

When the demonstrations resumed, protesters added a number of new demands, including the resignation of Abdul Mahdi’s government, changes to election law, early national parliamentary elections, and the formation of a new electoral commission.

Key Iraqi political forces, especially those backed by Iran, subsequently agreed to meet the demands of the demonstrators, with the exception of the resignation or removal of Abdul Mahdi and the holding of early elections.

However,
a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package...
growing internal pressure from the supreme religious authority in Najaf, led by Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali al-Sistani, international pressure from the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
and other diplomatic missions in Baghdad, and the high number of fatalities plus an increase in kidnappings and arrests of activists and journalists forced them to reconsider the demands they had rejected.

Ansarullah movement in the Red Sea have been released.

The three vessels and the 16 people on them were tossed into the calaboose a few miles off Uqban Island, off the western coasts of Yemen, on Sunday evening.

"The vessels and crew members that were seized and detained in Yemen have all been released," South Korea’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

It said the ships included a South Korean tugboat and a drilling rig, and one Saudi-flagged tugboat.

Two South Koreans were among the crew, the statement said.

The Houthi movement has not yet commented on the statement.

It announced early on Tuesday that the Yemeni coastguard "is doing its job to determine whether it... belongs to the aggressors or to South Korea."

"If it is for South Korea, they will be released after legal procedures... we assure everyone not to worry about the crew," said the chairman of the Supreme Revolutionary Committee of Yemen, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi.

By "aggressors," he was referring to Soddy Arabia

Libya's Interior Minister: Russians arrested in Tripoli linked to Wagner Group
[Libya Observer] The Libyan Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha has unveiled links between two Russians arrested for spying in Tripoli

...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969.
's forces in southern Tripoli.

Bashagha told The Washington Post on Tuesday that the Russian nationals were arrested in last July on suspicion of attempting to influence planned municipal elections and gather information on the military operations against Khalifa Haftar's forces, which are based in eastern Libya and backed by Russia, confirming that the Russians had confessed to the accusations.

The Washington Post reported a Western official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss diplomatic issues, as saying that the Russian government was putting a lot of pressure on the Presidential Council's government leadership to free the two men, who the officials said were part of a broader effort by Moscow to assert influence in Libya.

Russian Foreign Ministry admitted that the two nationals were arrested in Tripoli and said they were trying to prepare for a meeting with Saif al-Islam Qadaffy, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court.

Bloomberg said previously that the detained Russians had met twice in the months before their arrest with Saif Qadaffy with support from Russian officials, saying Saif is believed to be seeking a political comeback.

The Russians were arrested with some laptops and USBs that prove they were working for a company that works to influence elections in African countries, including Libya. A third Russian national managed to leave Libya before the Libyan security forces had stormed his house, Bloomberg said.

Bashagha accused Russia earlier of trying to help Qadaffy loyalists to return to the scene in Libya.

MPs demand Zelensky, Trump investigate suspicion of U.S.-Ukraine corruption involving $7.4 bln
[EN.INTERFAX.UA] Ukrainian members of parliament have demanded the presidents of Ukraine and the United States, Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump
...The man who was so stupid he beat fourteen professional politicians, a former tech CEO, and a brain surgeon for the Republican nomination in 2016, then beat The Smartest Woman in the World in the general election...
, investigate suspicions of the legalization of $7.4 billion by the "family" of ex-President Viktor Yanukovych through the American investment fund Franklin Templeton Investments, which they said has ties to the U.S. Democratic Party.

At a presser at the Interfax-Ukraine agency on Wednesday, MP Andriy Derkach announced that deputies have received new materials from investigative journalists about international corruption and the participation of Ukrainian officials in it.

"Last week, November 14, the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO), unnoticed by the media, announced a new suspicion to the notorious owner of Burisma, ex-Ecology Minister Zlochevsky. According to the suspicion, the Yanukovych family is suspected, in particular, with legalizing (laundering) of criminally obtained income through Franklin Templeton Investments, an investment fund carrying out purchases of external government loan bonds totaling $7.4 billion," Derkach said.

With reference to the investigation, he emphasized: it was money criminally obtained by the "family" of Yanukovych and invested in the purchase of Ukrainian debt in 2013-2014.

For his part, MP Oleksandr Dubinsky from the Servant of the People faction said that according to Sherlocks, "the Yanukovych 'family' illegally obtained $7.4 billion and laundered the funds through an investment fund close to some representatives of the U.S. Democratic Party in the form of external government loan bonds."

Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, Bossy had come up with a new idea, one that didn't involve kerosene...
Derkach said that several facts indicate Franklin Templeton Investments' relationship with the U.S. Democratic Party.

"The son of Templeton's founder, John Templeton Jr., was one of President Obama's major campaign donors. Another fund-related character is Thomas Donilon. Managing Director of BlackRock Investment Institute, shareholder Franklin Templeton Investments, which has the largest share in the fund. It is noteworthy that he previously was Obama's national security advisor," Derkach said.

The MP said that the presidents of Ukraine and the United States should combine the efforts of the two countries to establish facts of corruption and money laundering with the participation of citizens of both countries.

"President Zelensky must pick up the phone, dial Trump, ask for help and cooperation in the fight against corruption and fly to Washington. The issue of combating international corruption in Ukraine with the participation of citizens, businessmen and U.S. officials should become a key during the meeting of the two presidents," he said.

Pence's Chief of Staff: 'This Alleged Discussion Recalled by Ambassador Sondland Never Happened'
[CNSNEWS] Vice President Mike Pence's office released a statement Wednesday morning refuting Ambassador Gordon Sondland's testimony that he told Pence about the alleged quid pro quo being pushed by President Donald Trump

"The Vice President never had a conversation with Gordon Sondland about investigating the Bidens, Burisma, or the conditional release of financial aid to Ukraine based upon potential investigations," said the statement by Pence's Chief of Staff Marc Short.

Under questioning by Democratic attorney Daniel Goldman about his alleged conversation with the vice president, Sondland ultimately said: "I don't know exactly what I said to him."

10 killed in eastern DR Congo by rebels
[Dhaka Tribune] Between 10 and 21 non-combatants were killed in two attacks by a notorious militia in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo
...formerly the Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Zaire, and who knows what else, not to be confused with the Brazzaville Congo aka Republic of Congo, which is much smaller and much more (for Africa) stable. , where government forces have vowed to root out gangs, sources said on Wednesday.

Seven people were killed in the city of Beni and between three and 14 were killed near Oicha, 30km away, according to the UN radio Okapi, which quoted the military, and local civil society.

The attacks late Tuesday were blamed on the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a militia of Ugandan origin targeted by an army campaign to restore peace to DR Congo's troubled east.

At least 60 people have been killed by the ADF since the offensive began on October 30, according to a toll compiled by AFP.

Commentators see the massacres as warnings to the local population against collaborating with government forces.

The city of Beni was last targeted by the ADF in October 2018.

The latest attacks sparked an exodus in the Beni district of Boikene and in the Mavete district of Oichi.

Protests erupted against poor security, and members of the UN peacekeeping force, Monusco, were advised not to go out on the streets of Beni.

The ADF's historical roots lie in Islamist Ugandans opposed to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni
...President-for-Life of Uganda. He assumed office in 1985. His primary virtue is being prefereable to both his predecessors, Idi Amin and Milton Obote...
The group has plagued the North Kivu region bordering Uganda since the Congo Wars in the 1990s, although its membership has since broadened to non-Ugandans and it has not carried out an attack on Uganda for years.

Hundreds of deaths have been attributed to the shadowy organization since 2015.

Trump Administration approves sale of USD 1 billion worth of naval guns to India
[NewIndianExpress] The Trump Administration has notified to the US Congress its determination to sell USD 1 billion worth of naval guns to India for use against warships, anti-aircraft and shore bombardment, in a move that would enhance the lethal capabilities of the Indian Navy.

The proposed foreign military sale of up to 13 MK-45 5inch/62 caliber (MOD 4) naval guns and related equipment is at an estimated cost of USD 1.0210 billion, Defense Security Cooperation Agency said in its notification to the Congress on Tuesday.

To be manufactured by the BAE Systems Land and Armaments, the proposed sale will improve India's capability to meet current and future threats from enemy weapon systems, the notification said.

"The MK-45 Gun System will provide the capability to conduct anti-surface warfare and anti-air defence missions while enhancing interoperability with US and other allied forces," the notification said.

India will use the enhanced capability as a deterrent to regional threats and to strengthen its homeland defence, it said.

The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region, it said.

According to the notification, this notice of a potential sale is required by law and does not mean the sale has been concluded.

With this, India has become one of the few countries that the US decided to sell its latest version (Mod 4) of its naval guns.

The other countries to have been sold with MOD 4 naval guns so far are Australia, Japan and South Korea.

The one given to Thailand is an upgraded MOD 4 version.

The US has also determined to sell these to a few other allies and friends including Britain and Canada.

PG&E begins new mass power shutoff likely to affect up to 450,000 people
  • [Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] California's largest utility's preemptive measures come as virtually a rain-less fall has left brush dangerously dry amid forecasts for low humidity and high winds

  • Gusts of 55 mph are expected which which might fling tree branches or other debris into power lines, causing sparks that could set catastrophic fires

  • One reporting station in Napa County reporting has not seen a drop of rain since September, the first time that's happened since 1905

  • The northern Sierra Nevada has seen a fraction of an inch of rain in the past two months instead of the usual 5 inches

  • 'This lack of rain is keeping the threat of fire very real, this late in the season, in many areas', says Scott Strenfel, PG&E's principal meteorologist

  • The planned shutoff would be the latest in a series of massive outages by PG&E, including one last month that affected nearly 2.5 million people.

SpaceX MK-1 EXPLODES while being pressure tested

From the Facebook SpaceX Boca Chica group, the Moderator reports:
RUPTURE UPDATE:
Through back channels it has been revealed that MK1 suffered an accidental overpressure to failure. Fuel and oxidizer would typically be loaded to 3 Bar or 43.5 psi~ for densification purposes and flightworthy tanks may be tested to 1.5-2x that value for single time structural proofing. In the case of what happened today the story is that communications errors between the pumps/sensors and remote controls allowed the tanks to be massively and erroneously overpressured to the point of failure, leading to catastrophic rupture.

We expect SpaceX in good time to reveal the details, they may explain it was deliberate as big changes in airframe and control surfaces in the succeeding MK series variants are coming.

Disgraced former mayor of Baltimore charged Wednesday with fraud, tax evasion for sales of self-published children's books to non-profits that did business with gov’t
More on this story from yesterday.
[AOL] The disgraced former mayor of Baltimore was charged Wednesday with fraud and tax evasion involving sales of her self-published children's books to non-profits and foundations that did business with the government.

An 11-count federal indictment accuses her of arranging fraudulent sales of her "Healthy Holly" books to schools, libraries and a medical system to enrich herself, promote her political career and fund her run for mayor.

"There are many victims in this case," said U.S. Attorney Robert Hur in announcing the indictment. "The victims are all of us, the taxpayers and the people of Baltimore, who expect and deserve integrity from their public officials."

DNA Confirms Hunter Biden Is Father of Arkansas 1-Year-Old - 99.9% Match, Says Mother and Lawyer
He's been a busy little boy lately. Coke will do that...
[WesternJournal] The Western Journal has exclusively learned that Hunter Biden, son of former vice president and current Democratic presidential primary front-runner Joe Biden, is the father of a 1-year-old love child, according to the child’s mother and her lawyer.
Ick
Based on the child's reported age, it is likely Biden fathered the child at the same time he was in a relationship with his brother Beau's widow, Hallie Biden. That relationship began in March 2017 and reportedly ended in early-mid 2019.
Double Ick
Lunden Roberts, a former college basketball player, left Arkansas to work in Washington, D.C. where she eventually met Biden and the two entered a relationship.

In an exclusive interview with The Western Journal, Roberts' attorney, Clinton Lancaster of the Lancaster Firm in Little Rock, Arkansas, said a DNA test has positively established paternity with a certainty of 99.9 percent.

Exploration of shale gas from next month: Babar
[DAWN] Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Nadeem Babar on Tuesday called for closure of the country’s existing petroleum refineries for being obsolete and said the shale gas exploration in the country would begin next month.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the Annual Technical Symposium and Exhibition of the oil and gas companies, Babar said "the existing technology being utilised in the country’s refineries is obsolete and such refineries need to be closed down entirely or phased out, rendering the current refining methods outdated".

On its part, he said the government was working towards setting up two new major refineries and ensuring upgradation of another ‐ Pakistain Refinery Ltd at Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
‐ with the support of the international investors from the Middle East and China.

Sedition case registered against Sindh University students for 'chanting anti-Pakistan slogans'
[DAWN] Jamshoro police has lodged a sedition case against some students of Sindh University, Jamshoro for allegedly chanting anti-Pakistain slogans and for being involved in wall chalking against the state, it emerged on Tuesday.

The case, registered against at least 17 students of the university, was lodged under Section 120-A (definition of criminal conspiracy), 120-B (punishment for criminal conspiracy), 123-A (condemnation of the creation of the state, and advocacy of abolition of its illusory sovereignty), 124 (assaulting president, governor, etc. with intention to compel or restrain the exercise of any lawful power) and 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot) of the Pakistain Penal Code on the complaint of Inspector Ghulam Qadir Panhwar, the security head of the campus.

The complainant said that on October 31 the hostel in-charge Qamar Lashari, Niaz Buledi, and provost Shahab Ahmed Soomro had informed him that around 17 to 18 students of the Jeay Sindh group had raised slogans against Pakistain as well as against the government of the country and had been involved in wall chalking outside the boys' hostel's main gate.

Inspector Panhwar said he was informed that the students were creating lawlessness in the institution. He claimed that after receiving the information, he reached the site of the incident and found that the students were carrying flags of Jeay Sindh, were raising slogans against Pakistain, and were engaging in wall chalking against the state.

According to Panhwar, after seeing the police, the students moved towards the hostel while continuing to chant slogans such as "Sindhu Desh, Na Khapey Na Khapey Pakistain, we will break Pakistain".

The complainant said he himself and the hostel in-charge clearly identified the students involved.

Iran buries martyrs as anti-rioting rallies expand
[PRESSTV] Iranians lay to rest a serviceman and a civilian martyred recently at the hands of rioters as demonstrations expand nationwide in condemnation of the agitators working to sow unrest in the country under the pretext of protest against fuel price hikes.

The burial procession and a subsequent interment ceremony took place in Tehran Province’s Malard County on Wednesday, IRNA reported. The attendees bade farewell to deaders Morteza Ebrahimi, one of the commanders of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC)’s Imam Hossein Battalion in the county, and Mostafa Rezaei, an employee with Malard’s Municipality.

Elsewhere in the country, people rallied in the city of Gorgan, the capital of northwestern Golestan Province, to voice outrage against the anarchists, according to Tasnim News Agency.

They shouted slogans against the United States and Israel, and expressed resentment at those defying the country’s Islamic establishment.
