China-US Civil Space Dialogue

So, it turns out the third U.S.-China Civil Space Dialogue was held quietly in Beijing late last month, with space exploration & multilateral cooperation among the issues discussed.

Beijing quietly hosted the third China-US Civil Space Dialogue on November 30, with the two sides exchanging plans for human and robotic space exploration, and discussing engagement through multilateral mechanisms.

The meeting was co-chaired by Tian Yulong, secretary-general of China National Space Administration (CNSA), and Jonathan Margolis, assistant secretary of state of the US Department of State.

In an email, a State Department official informed gbtimes.com that "the delegations discussed ways to improve bilateral cooperation on spaceflight safety issues and shared their respective plans for human and robotic space exploration, and support for commercial space activities. In earth and space science, existing cooperation was emphasized, including the strong work of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and China's Meteorological Administration, where free and open data sharing has yielded improved weather forecasting capabilities.

"Both nations also discussed constructively engaging in space-related multilateral mechanisms, including participation in the Charter on Space and Natural Disasters, and the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space."

In a CNSA press note published on its website, it was also stated that discussions on multilateral engagement explicitly named the International Space Exploration Coordination Group (ISECG) as a forum in which strengthened cooperation on lunar exploration and Mars exploration exchanges could take place. Space debris was another issue highlighted.

The dialogue was devised during the US-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue in 2015 in order to establish "regular bilateral government consultations on civil space cooperation".

The first dialogue was held in Beijing in 2015 and the second in Washington in 2016

NASA ban on engaging China

The dialogue between the State Department and CNSA is an initiative designed to facilitate exchanges between China and the United States on a range of space-related issues, working around and filling a void created by an effective US Congressional ban on NASA dealing with Chinese entities.

As Marcia S Smith of spacepolicyonline.com observed upon the establishment of the dialogue, NASA and the and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy are prohibited from expending any funds to "develop, design, plan, promulgate, implement, or execute a bilateral policy, program, order, or contract of any kind to participate, collaborate, or coordinate bilaterally in any way with China or any Chinese-owned company." The prohibition was inserted in 2011 by Rep. Frank Wolf, then Chairman of the Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies, into the appropriations bills that fund NASA, and has since been retained.

Charles Bolden, then NASA Administrator, attended the 2016 edition of the dialogue having received advanced approval from Congress in accordance with the so-called 'Wolf Clause'.

Earlier this year, the President of the United States revived the National Space Council, a body that will seek to oversee to some extent and to direct America's space activities. Should it decide, under the leadership of Vice-President Mike Pence, to pursue cooperation with China, the Congressional barriers would first need to be removed.

China has been effectively barred from joining the International Space Station (ISS) project due to US objections, citing possible technology transfer to a Chinese space programme which is entwined with the country's military, as well as concerns over espionage and human rights abuses.

At the same time, proponents of cooperation with China state the need for dialogue on issues including the long-term sustainability of the space environment as human reliance and use of outer space grows, which cannot be dealt with by nations individually, and also state that US policy options are diminished by the current stance.

China, which will start constructing its own large modular space station around 2019, is one of two nations, along with Russia, currently capable of independent human spaceflight and has made large strides in space technology in recent times and would be capable of contributing launch services, technology and modules for major projects.

The European Space Agency has designated China a strategic partner and possible future partner in human spaceflight, while Russia also has close ties to China in a range of space-related fields.

It is unclear if there will be Chinese participation in the possible next major international space project, the Deep Space Gateway.

Netanyahu tells EU to stop 'spoiling' the Palestinians
...The prime minister also accused the EU of hypocrisy. The federation constantly nags Netanyahu on the question of settlements, but how often does it raise with the Palestinians the question of their failure to recognize Israel as a Jewish state? Netanyahu asked.
For the last 20 odd years we had an abnormal situation wherein EU leads and USA follows - thank G*d for Trump.

Opening Volley: Trump Sexual Harassment Accusers Unite for Press Conference, Interview with Megyn
[Breitbart] Women who have accused President Trump of sexual harassment will hold a press conference to demand a Congressional investigation, according to CBS news.

The press conference will be held by Brave New Films, a documentary company. Beforehand, three of the women will also appear on Megyn Kelly Today.

The president denied all of the women’s accusations during the 2016 presidential campaign and the White House has stood by those denials.

Megyn Kelly plans to interview three women accusers; Jessica Leeds, Samantha Holvey and Rachel Cooks.

Holvey, who competed in the Trump led beauty pageant said that Trump "personally inspected each woman" prior to the pageant.

Leeds accused Trump of groping her breasts and trying to put his hand up her skirt over 30 years ago.

Crooks accused Trump of forcibly kissing her outside of an elevator.

Putin, on surprise visit, orders Russian forces to start leaving Syria
[Jpost] President Vladimir Putin ordered "a significant part" of Russia's military contingent in Syria to start withdrawing on Monday, saying Moscow and Damascus had achieved their mission of destroying Islamic State in just over two years.

Putin, who polls show will be re-elected comfortably in March, made the announcement during a surprise visit to Russia's Hmeymim air base in Syria, where he held talks with President Bashar Assad and addressed Russian forces.

The Kremlin first launched air strikes in Syria in September 2015 in its biggest Middle East intervention in decades, turning the tide of the conflict in Assad's favor, while dramatically increasing Moscow's own influence in the region.

Syrian state television quoted Assad as thanking Putin for Russia's help, saying the blood of Moscow's "martyrs" had been mixed with the blood of the Syrian army.

Several injured after device explodes at New York City’s Port Authority, one arrest
[NYPost] Several people were injured Monday morning when a device exploded at the Port Authority bus terminal on 42nd Street, according to law enforcement sources.

One person is in custody after his device partially detonated inside a tunnel, sources told The Post.

Police and firefighters have responded to the scene, where the bomb squad also has been deployed.

The NYC Office of Emergency Management said commuters should expect delays.

There was no immediate word on what prompted the response between Eighth and Ninth avenues.

This a developing story.
The NY Post story was last updated at 7:44 a.m. ET.
The Daily Mail has more, as of 8:13 a.m. ET:
An explosion was felt around 6:30am Monday morning in a Subway station near the Port Authority bus terminal in Midtown Manhattan - just a block from Times Square.

The FDNY said they located a device near the passageway between the A and 1 trains, and that it's possible this was a terror attack.

One man has been taken into custody, who was carrying a device on him.

CNN reports that it appears that the subway station was not the intended target, and that the pipe bomb the suspect was carrying went off prematurely, injuring him in the process. The suspect's identity has not been released.
And from The Telegraph:
In a statement on Twitter the New York Police Department added that three metro lines are being evacuated.
Updates at 8:35 a.m. ET:
The Telegraph:
1:29pm
Bomb found on subway platform
The bomb was reportedly found on a train platform, which suggests it was intended to be detonated in a train carriage.

1:27pm
'Isil-inspired attack' - Bill Bratton
Former NY police commissioner Bill Bratton has claimed the attack was inspired by Isil
From the Daily Mail:
The bus terminal is a major transit hub for people commuting into the city by bus from New Jersey, and is located just a block from Times Square.

CNN reports that it appears the Subway was not the intended target of the pipe bomb, and that it may have went off prematurely.

So far, the only reports of injuries are to the suspect himself. His identity has not been released.
More updates at 8:40— the British papers are dropping them in every few minutes:
Telegraph:
1:32pm
Just one person has been injured in addition to the suspected bomber, CNN reported. The bomb went off prematurely and had been intended to cause far greater damage.
Daily Mail:
Police have taken one man into custody, who had an explosive device on him. He was injured when the bomb malfunctioned, but is alive and in stable condition, according to the FDNY.

CNN learned that the device was homemade and could have caused catastrophic damage if it went off as intended.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders tweeted Monday morning that the president had been briefed on the situation.
Update at 8:45 a.m. from the NY Post:
A would-be suicide bomber set off a device at the Port Authority bus terminal subway station Monday morning, law enforcement sources said.

The suspected bomber – who had wires attached to him – was armed with a pipe bomb and a battery pack, sources said.

He was taken into custody after the device partially detonated inside the passageway to the N, Q and R trains, according to sources.

There was at least one injury and the wounded was the suspect. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital. His identity was not immediately known.

Mayor de Blasio has been briefed on the incident.
The Telegraph at 8:50 a.m.:
1:43pm
Male suspect had explosives 'strapped on' body
The male suspect had explosives strapped on when they exploded, law enforcement official told AP.
Update at 9:55 from the NY Post:
The man — a 27-year-old who lived in Brooklyn and is possibly of Bangladeshi origin — had wires attached to him and a 5-inch metal pipe bomb and battery pack strapped to his midsection as he walked through the Manhattan transit hub, sources said.

The man partially detonated the device, which he was carrying under the right side of his jacket, prematurely inside the passageway to the A, C and E trains at 8th Avenue and W. 42ndStreet at around 7:40 a.m., sources said.

Former NY police commissioner Bill Bratton, said the man had been living in the US for seven years.

The man, who suffered the most serious injuries, was taken to Bellevue Hospital.

Two others suffered minor injuries, police said.

Investigators briefly spoke to the alleged bomber, who told them he made the explosive device at the electrical company where he works.
From the Telegraph:
2:47pm
Bomber named as Akayed Ullah
Akayed Ullah is the 27-year-old suspect, New York Police said. The suspect was placed in custody and transferred to Bellvue hospital.

The individual who carried the device had burns to the hand and abdomen.
The Post and the Daily Mail have a photo of the miscreant on the ground, and fuzzy CCTV video of him blowing up.

Rep. Steve King: 'Diversity is not our strength'
[The Hill] Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) said that diversity is no America's strength in a pair of tweets Friday.

King linked to an article by the Voice of Europe Friday that quoted Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban saying that cultures shouldn’t be mixed, arguing that it’s "against common sense."

King tweeted the story with the message, "Diversity is not our strength."

"Assimilation has become a dirty word to the multiculturalist Left. Assimilation, not diversity, is our American strength," he tweeted.

No One Ever Drowned in Roy Moore's Car
[American Thinker] In 1990, when liberal journalists still had some sense of obligation to the truth, Michael Kelly wrote the following for GQ:
As [Carla] Gaviglio enters the room, the six-foot-two, 225-plus-pound [Sen. Ted] Kennedy grabs the five-foot-three, 103-pound waitress and throws her on the table. She lands on her back, scattering crystal, plates and cutlery and the lit candles. Several glasses and a crystal candlestick are broken. Kennedy then picks her up from the table and throws her on [Sen. Chris] Dodd, who is sprawled in a chair. With Gaviglio on Dodd's lap, Kennedy jumps on top and begins rubbing his genital area against hers, supporting his weight on the arms of the chair. As he is doing this, Loh enters the room. She and Gaviglio both scream, drawing one or two dishwashers. Startled, Kennedy leaps up. He laughs. Bruised, shaken and angry over what she considered a sexual assault, Gaviglio runs from the room.

The incident above took place in 1985 at the restaurant La Brasserie in Washington, D.C., where Loh and Gavigilio both worked as waitresses. Everyone in Washington knew about it, including Sen. Claire McCaskill. Here is what McCaskill had to say about Kennedy's behavior upon his death in 2009:
This man was so much more than his image. While his vision soared, the power of his personality and the magnet of his intellect drew his colleagues to the table of compromise. It was there he did his best work. His love for the little guy and his affection for the underdog influenced everything he did. And importantly, his sense of humor and contagious laughter made him real and approachable in spite of his power and privilege.

Although more than enough to kill a Republican's career, the infamous "waitress sandwich" barely made Kennedy's highlight reel. For sheer moral squalor, it was hard to top Chappaquiddick. This 1969 incident is well enough known; in brief, Kennedy hosted a drunken party at an isolated beach house whose guests included exactly six married men and six single women.

Late that night, Kennedy and one of the women, Mary Jo Kopechne, left for their own private party at an equally isolated beach but never made it. The car went off a small bridge. Ted Kennedy left Mary Jo alive, trapped in the car and gasping for air. He bypassed homes near the bridge, from which he could have called the police, and walked over a mile back to the party house. Once there, he sought out his lawyer friends, Joe Gargan and Paul Markham, to help him work out his alibi. Compromised by a presumed lawyer-client relationship, they had to wait for Kennedy to call for help. Kennedy never did. He may have been hoping that Gargan, the family fixer, would take the rap. Mary Jo, meanwhile, struggled to survive for perhaps an hour, even more, before suffocating.

Scott Walker Is Tired Of Waiting, Looks At Drug Testing Food Stamp Recipients
[Hot Air] Governor Scott Walker continues making the push for Wisconsin to become the first state to drug test food stamp recipients. This plan was approved by the Republican-dominated state legislature two years ago. After battling the Obama Administration on this topic, Walker is now looking to greenlight the program.

Florida’s similar program was blocked in 2014 by a federal appeals court. Walker tried to preemptively combat a similar fate by filing a federal lawsuit the following year seeking approval for the Wisconsin plan. The lawsuit was rejected because the Obama Administration hadn’t actually rebuked it yet.

Fusion GPS tried to tie Trump to Clinton's pedophile pal Epstein as part of smear campaign
[Wash Times] Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm whose Democrat-financed Russia dossier fueled an FBI investigation into Donald Trump, pitched other stories about the Republican presidential candidate to Washington reporters, including an attempt to tie him to a convicted pedophile who was once buddies with former President Bill Clinton.

Journalist sources told The Washington Times that Fusion founder Glenn Simpson pushed the idea of a close relationship between Mr. Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, who pleaded guilty in 2008 to soliciting sex from an underage girl.

The Trump-Epstein link appears purely social, far short of Mr. Clinton’s 20-plus plane rides on Epstein’s "Lolita Express" private jet around the globe in the early 2000s.

Ken Silverstein, the reporter who ultimately wrote an Epstein-Trump report, confirmed to The Times that Fusion had sourced the story. Mr. Silverstein, founder and editor of WashingtonBabylon.com who wrote the story for Vice.com, defended Mr. Simpson as a solid source of information that must first be confirmed.

For years, Fusion GPS has been an influential hidden hand in Washington, with entree into the city’s most powerful news bureaus.

Sessions confirms DOJ investigating Bruce Ohr for his ties to Steele Dossier, more actions coming
[Big League Politics] The attorney general told Boston talk show host Howie Carr that the Justice Department is investigating career government attorney Bruce G. Ohr regarding his professional conduct, which already cost him his position as associate deputy attorney general with an office at "Main Justice" and could lead to his termination.

"I hate to second guess you, Mr. Attorney General, but why isn’t he just fired," asked Howie Carr, who hosts the syndicated program, which is the top-rated talk show in Boston and New England.

"It now turns out that he was meeting with the people who did this dirty dossier‐I mean these people, who were paid and during the campaign last year, he was meeting with people, who were basically taking money from Hillary Clinton to produce this fake dossier‐shouldn’t that be a firing offense?" he asked.

The "dossier" is the collection of negative stories about Donald J. Trump that purport to document his personal and business dealings with Russians. The dossier was produced by GPS Fusion, a Washington-based opposition research firm, and supplemented by former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele.

Attorney General Jefferson B. "Jeff" Sessions, the country’s top law enforcement officer, told Carr he knows Ohr and has worked with him in his capacity leading the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces, a position he continues to hold.

The former Alabama senator said he did not know for certain if Ohr’s interactions with political opponents of the president were a firing office.

"We’re going to look at that," he said. "It is being looked at and if it requires discipline it will be carried out."

Roy Moore: I Will Bring Alabama Values – American Values – to D.C.
[Breitbart] Birmingham, ALABAMA ‐ Speaking in an exclusive interview less than 48-hours before election day, Republican senatorial candidate Roy Moore affirmed that a vote for him is a vote for "Alabama values," which he described as an ideology that "believe(s) in America."

During the interview, Moore explained that every Senate vote matters and that his election could be critical in determining the future composition of the Supreme Court as well as the enactment of President Donald Trump’s legislative agenda.

Moore was speaking in an interview that aired Sunday night on this reporter’s weekend talk radio show, Aaron Klein Investigative Radio, broadcast on New York’s AM 970 The Answer and NewsTalk 990 AM.

Al-Qaeda inescapably doomed in west Damascus following latest Syrian Army charge
[ALMASDARNEWS] The 4th Division al-Ghaith group of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has advanced further on the Beit Jenn pocket on Sunday, after earlier advances had secured the hills north of the town of Magher al-Meir.

Syrian army victories in the area won in the past days had secured the mountain of Tall Shihab and the whole Tall Bardyah hill range. On Sunday, an intense bombardment by 20 helicopter gunships struck positions of Hayyat Tahrir al-Sham
(HTS), the al-Qaeda affiliated organization formerly known as the al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli al-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
Front, to the east of Magher al-Meir.

Following the aerial bombings, the 4th Division stormed and captured the Zaher al-Aswad hills after heavy festivities, which led to a near total collapse of the al-Qaeda positions. HTS snuffies are reported to have fled from the hills, leaving behind much of their weaponry.

By this victory, the Syrian army has Magher al-Meir surrounded from three sides, and has established clear fire control over the entire town. The final capture of Magher al-Meir is expected to be only a matter of hours.

Somali man found guilty in kidnapping of Canadian journalist
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A Somali national has been convicted in an Ontario court for his role in the 2008 kidnapping of Canadian Amanda Lindhout, who was held captive in Somalia for 460 days and released only after her family paid a ransom, Canadian media reported on Wednesday.

Ali Omar Ader, 40, was found guilty of one charge of hostage-taking for his role as negotiator for the kidnappers, in a decision handed down on Wednesday in Ontario Superior Court in Ottawa.

Lindhout, a freelance journalist, was taken hostage in Somalia on Aug. 23, 2008, along with Australian photographer Nigel Brennan, while working on a story. They were released for ransom in November 2009.

Ader was lured to Canada from Somalia in 2015 and placed in durance vile
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
in Ottawa as part of a sting operation by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in which an officer posed as a publisher interested in a book Ader was writing on Somalia, according to court documents.
The kidnappers were affiliated with Hizbul Islam, according our archives. Hizbul Islam (Party of Islam) appeared on our radar in 2009 as the Al Qaeda-linked merger of four Islamist factions including Eritrea-based ICU and Kismayo-based Ras Kamboni. They fought Al Shabaab tooth and nail until giving up and merging at the end of 2010.

Zadrans deprived of power only because of Haqqani network leader: Hekmatyar
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The leader of Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin has said the Zadran tribe has been deprived of power only because the leader of the notorious Haqqani terrorist network hails from the same tribe.

Speaking during a gathering in southeastern Khost province
... across the border from Miranshah, within commuting distance of Haqqani hangouts such as Datta Khel and probably within sight of Mordor. Khost is populated by six different tribes of Pashtuns, the largest probably being the Khostwal, from which it takes its name...
among his supporters, Hekmatyar said the people of Zadran tribe are paying the ultimate price because the leader of Haqqani network Jalaluddin Haqqani
...founder and still titular head of the Haqqani Network. Jalaluddin is old and tough and very crafty, one of the few Pashtun warlords who was worth spit...
has fought against the US forces.

However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
he harshly criticized the monopolist approach by certain individuals and circles, saying different islands of power exist across the country which must be eliminated immediately.

According to Hekmatyar, the only legitimate way to reach to power is through elections as he called on other political parties to ascertain their role in the governance through elections.

In the meantime, Hekmatyar said he is doubtful regarding the willingness of the other political parties to participate in the elections, claiming that they fear from process.

He also went on to claim that certain circles are attempting to prevent the elections but did not elaborate further in this regard.

The leader of Hezb-e-Islami also demanded no further changes should into the electoral bodies and the government must ensure a fair and transparent election.

Rapper Jim Jones buys stake in Richmond indoor football team, invites Colin Kaepernick to play
[Richmond.com] Rapper Jim Jones, best known for his single "We Fly High," has purchased a stake in the Richmond Roughriders indoor football team.

At a news conference at the Richmond Coliseum on Thursday, Jones invited former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick to join the Roughriders team for its coming season.

Kaepernick was the first to kneel during the playing of the national anthem to protest police brutality. He has not yet been signed by an NFL team in the 2017 season.

"He can come here and keep his skills sharp, set some records," said Jones. "Help put this team on the map."

Jones got his first exposure to the Roughriders and indoor football last year, when he performed at halftime as the team won the Arena Pro Football League title at the Richmond Coliseum.

"Last year, I got to perform here in the championship game, and the energy was just overwhelming," said Jones. "I bring a lot of things to the table here, but mostly my notoriety. Music, movies, television, film and videos.

"We have a big platform when it comes to hip-hop, and hip-hop is the leading moneymaker in media today."

Roughriders owner Gregg Fornario said the addition of Jones to the team will allow the Roughriders to build their brand.

"He enables us to introduce the hard-hitting, fast-paced game of arena football to the hip-hop culture," said Fornario. "He’s also going to help us brand the Richmond Roughriders name not just in the community but nationwide."

The Roughriders will begin their second season in March. Their first home game is March 31. They will play in the American Arena League.

The Roughriders also announced the signing of Florida State legend Marvin Jones as defensive coordinator, and former Marshall University quarterback Rakeem Cato will be added to the 2018 roster.

Swedish PM condemns attempted arson attack at synagogue as three arrested

Prime Minister Stefan Lofven said in a statement he was outraged by the attack.

"There is no place for anti-Semitism in Swedish society," he said in the statement,

which also referred to a demonstration in the city of Malmo on Friday, at which Lofven said participants had incited violence against Jews.

There were no reports of injuries and the fire did not reach the synagogue or an adjacent meeting house where Jewish youths had gathered when the attack took place late on Saturday, Swedish media reported.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Egypt archaeologists discover mummy in Luxor
[YAHOO] Egyptian archaeologists have discovered a mummy in one of two previously unexplored tombs across the Nile from the southern city of Luxor, the antiquities ministry said Saturday.
As I walked out in the streets of Old Luxor,
The tombs were found in the 1990s by German archaeologist Frederica Kampp, though she had only reached the entrance gate "but never entered", the ministry said.
As I walked out in Old Luxor one day,
It said that both tombs, which were given numbers by Kampp, were likely to date back to dynasties of the New Kingdom, which lasted several centuries until about 3,000 years ago.
I spied an old mummy
Since Kampp's discovery, "both tombs were left untouched" an Egyptian archaeological mission started work.
Wrapped up in white linen,
Antiquities Minister Khaled al-Enany was in Luxor to announce the discovery in Draa Abul Nagaa necropolis near the famed Valley of the Kings, where many pharaohs, including Tutankhamun, were buried.
Wrapped up in white linen
In addition to funerary items, archaeologists found "a mummy wrapped in linen", the ministry said, adding that "studies suggest the mummy could be for a top official or a powerful person".
As cold as the clay...
The owner is unidentified, though the ministry said they have two possible identities.

The tomb might belong to "a person named Djehuty Mes whose name was engraved on one of the walls", the ministry said.

Or it could belong to "the scribe Maati as his name and the name of his wife Mehi were inscribed on 50 funerary cones found in the tomb’s rectangular chamber".

Al-Qaeda struggles to contain ISIS expansion near Syria stronghold
[ALMASDARNEWS] The situation has turned sour for the al-Qaeda affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
murderous Moslem group when ISIS swiftly emerged a significant threat to the former in Hama’s northeastern countryside.

With dozens of villages under its new dominion, the terrorist group continues trying to advance on its former ally launching its latest attack on the Tleihan Hill axis. To their dismay this time, however, ISIS would not succeed in seizing control of the strategic hilltop losing seven men in the process.

An RPG round incrementally increased their losses when a targeted BMP vehicle was destroyed before the assaulting murderous Moslems would turn their backs to the battlefields and retreat to friendly lines.

Whatever the future holds for the newly-forged ISIS enclave in eastern Hama, it becomes clear that the terrorist group becomes more emboldened and entrenched on the Hama-Idlib border with every passing day. Both the Syrian government and the SDF will encounter deep trouble attempting to expel the bully boyz from the region.

Iraqi PM modifies statement, mentions Peshmerga’s role in anti-IS war
Good.
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi has modified his speech, offering congratulations to the Kurdish troops over victory against Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. This came after Abadi was highly slammed by official authorities and figures in Kurdistan for ignoring the role of Peshmerga during anti-IS war at his speech on Saturday, when he named all of the Iraqi troops to offer congratulations without mentioning the Peshmerga.

Criticized, Abadi’s office modified on Sunday evening the speech on behalf of Abadi and greeted Peshmerga as well as other troops.

"I would like to greet all those who achieved victory: our champion troops of army, police, security services, al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces), Counter-Terrorism service, air force, army jets, Peshmerga and all divisions of the armed forces," the modified statement said.

Indian forces using 'chemical weapons' in held Kashmir: AJK president
[DAWN] Azad Jammu and Kashmire (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan on Sunday claimed that Indian security forces are using "chemical weapons" against civilians in India-held Kashmire (IHK).

The AJK president, delivering a speech in Islamabad to mark International Human Rights Day, said that there have been a number of deaths due to the use of chemical weapons in IHK.

Earlier this year, the Foreign Office also tried to draw attention towards the use of chemical munitions against civilians in IHK. It was the first time that such a serious allegation had been levelled by Pakistain against India.

A series of international treaties, specifically the Chemical Weapons Convention, prohibits the use of chemical weapons not only in international armed conflicts but also non-international armed conflicts rather in all circumstances.

Sardar Khan also claimed that attempts are being made to change the population ratio in Kashmire.

#1  "...The Pashtun equivalent of men..." Hoot Fred, thank you for my great morning coffee giggle. Very funny but to true.

In March of 1988 or 89.

Reminds me of a conversation I had with a tribal leader's son (do not remember his name) over what he thought of Chinese Blue Pipe missiles versus Stingers. In his opinion having used both on the Russian aircraft, he said they were about equal.

We had a rather pleasant tea and snacks gathering in candlelight, typical in the evening's rolling nighttime rolling power blackouts. In Lahore or Islamabad? I forget what city we were in.

Guests include two Church of England young priests. I have the photos of the evening here, should find and upload as the Burger's might enjoy them.

Anyways the topic of the Taliban came up. The son's opinion of the Talibunnies was right to the point. He said with the turbans they were thought of as and I quote, "cowboys." Basically annoying useful outsiders helping fight the Russians. His placid expression spoke quiet volumes as to his dislike. The young man was matter of fact as to his hope they would leave.

Traveling further north to Mayden, I ended up viewing the Tuban boys in a different way. Talipups always had an expression of intense intense serious dislike for all.

On a humorous sidenote. The English boys were happy to explain the best place to get liquored up was at the Russian embassy or wherever they were holed up.

Syrian regime delegation joins Geneva negotiations
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Syrian delegation arrived in Geneva on Sunday to participate in the UN-sponsored talks.

The return of the regime's delegation to Geneva came after Russian pressure and warnings from the UN envoy about the consequences of the failure of any party to come to the negotiations.

The second round of the Geneva negotiations in its eighth edition resumed on Tuesday with meetings between the Syrian opposition delegation and UN envoy Stephane de Mistura, who announced that the current round could continue until the middle of this month.

On the other hand, members of the opposition delegation said that Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
and America pushed for the representation of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party in the talks.

The eighth round of negotiations began in Geneva at the end of November, and de Mistura announced that it would include direct negotiations between the opposition and the regime on constitutional and electoral reforms through direct negotiations between the parties, but the regime delegation was one day late and left two days later.

Syria talks will resume the eighth round of negotiations after the end of the three-day break.

[DAWN] Police on Sunday confirmed that an alleged incident of robbery reported in Bloody Karachi

's Malir area earlier this week was actually an act of murder where a 20-year-old young woman killed her younger sister, Aleena, with the help of her fiance.

On December 6, it was reported that a 16-year-old girl was stabbed to death and her sister, Alveena, was maimed when they allegedly resisted a robbery attempt in their home.

However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
addressing a presser on Sunday, Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Korangi Nauman Siddiqui said that Alveena had confessed to slitting the throat of her little sister after allegedly being blackmailed by Aleena and her friends for several days.

"It is an unfortunate incident," the SSP said as he opened his presser in which he detailed the events that led to the teenage girl's murder.

According to the SSP, the dear departed teenage girl and her friend, Ahsan, had been blackmailing Alveena with compromising photographs.

The SSP said that Alveena and her fiance of one and a half years, Mazhar, had at first considered killing Ahsan but decided against it.

They had then approached Kashif, another suspect who was questioned by police, for help in killing the younger sister but he had refused.

UN report says 2,078 civilians killed in Somalia 2016-2017
[RADIOSHABELLE] Armed conflict in Somalia continues to exact a heavy toll on civilians, damaging infrastructure and livelihoods, displacing millions of people, and impeding access to humanitarian relief for communities in need, a UN report published on Sunday said.

Entitled "Protection of Civilians: Building the Foundation for Peace, Security and Human Rights in Somalia," the report by the UN Human Rights Office and the UN Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) covers the period from 1 January 2016 to 14 October 2017.

"Ultimately, civilians are paying the price for failure to resolve Somalia’s conflicts through political means," said the head of UNSOM, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Somalia Michael Keating. "And parties to the conflict are simply not doing enough to shield civilians from the violence. This is shameful."

Iran says 'good relations' possible if Saudi Arabia ends 'friendship' with Israel
[DAWN] Iran's President Hassan Rouhani says Iran is ready to restore ties with Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
if it stops bombing Yemen

and cuts its alleged ties with Israel.

In a speech broadcast on Sunday, Rouhani said the regional rivals could have "good relations" if the Saudis end their "false friendship" with Israel and halt the "inhuman bombardment" of Yemen, where a Saudi-led coalition is battling Houthis.

Saudi Arabia severed diplomatic relations with Iran in January 2016 after Iranian demonstrators attacked Saudi diplomatic missions in response to the Saudi execution of a prominent Shia holy man.

Tensions spiked again last month after the Houthis fired a ballistic missile that was intercepted near Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia does not recognise Israel, but the two countries have a shared interest in countering Iran.

2017 Nobel Peace Prize
Meh. They’re no worse than any of the recent winners, and considerably better than some.
[Al Jazeera] The Geneva-based International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) has received the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo on Sunday.

ICAN has been at the forefront of pushing for an end to the use of nuclear weapons through the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, which has 50 signatories including Brazil, South Africa and Vietnam to date.

The Nobel committee cited ICAN's efforts "for its work to draw attention to the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of any use of nuclear weapons, and for its groundbreaking efforts to achieve a treaty-based prohibition on such weapons", in an announcement in Oslo, Nowary on October 6.

ICAN Executive Director Beatrice Fihn told news hounds that given the current political atmosphere around the world, the call to ban nuclear weapons is more imperative.

"The treaty is meant to make it harder to justify nuclear weapons, to make it uncomfortable for states to continue the status quo, to put more pressure on them," she said.

With all due respect, Governor, a lot if not most of these fires are found to be caused by arson. Many of the fires that are not caused by arson are found to be caused by gross negligence on the part of construction workers, whack job deer hunters or utility companies. Iraq
Shiite armed groups in Iraq decide to disband
[ARABNEWS] A number of armed Shiite factions that fought ISIS alongside Iraqi government forces have voluntarily announced their dissolution and placed their fighters under the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, Iraqi officials and Shiite leaders told Arab News on Sunday.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi, commander-in-chief of the armed forces, announced on Saturday the liberation of all Iraqi territories and the end of the three-year war against ISIS, which seized almost a third of the territories in the west and north in summer 2014.

"At least four (armed) factions have voluntarily decided to disband their troops and gave the prime minister full authority to determine the fate of their fighters," a senior security Iraqi official told Arab News on condition of anonymity.

"The procedures for disbanding these forces and the implementation mechanisms have not yet been decided, but 90 percent of them are likely to be disbanded and the remainder will be appointed to be a part of the regular security services," the official said.

"No weapon will remain in the hands of anyone outside the control of the state. The decision to disarm the irregular armed factions will be issued in a few weeks and those who refuse to hand over their weapons will be considered outlaw," he added.

Some of these details have been confirmed to Arab News by Karim al-Nuri, a member of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) and a senior Badr Brigade leader; Aws al-Khafaji, the head of the Abu Fadhal al-Abbas armed faction; and Hisham al-Hashimi, a security expert and one of the national security advisers.

In a statement on Saturday, al-Khafaji said: "After the final and big victory against ISIS, we are putting all these troops (Abu Fadhal al-Abass troops) ‐ which are a part of the PMF ‐ fully under the command of the commander in chief of the armed forces."

Shiite armed factions have played a vital role in the fighting against ISIS. They had been fighting under the umbrella of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) which was established by Nuri al-Maliki, the former Iraqi prime minister, in June 2014, to cover the armed factions who volunteered to fight ISIS alongside the government. More than 120,000 is the number of fighters officially registered in the payroll of the PMF.

Saraya al-Salam, or the Battalions of Peace, the biggest Shiite armed faction linked to the powerful Shiite holy man Moqtada Tater al-Sadr
... the Iranian catspaw holy man who was 22 years old in 2003 and was nearing 40 in 2010. He spends most of his time in Iran, safely out of the line of fire, where he's learning to be an ayatollah...
; Kataib al-Imam Ali and the Battalions of Imam Ali, which is linked to the Shiite clergymen in Najaf, led by Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, are among these factions, officials said.

"To restrict the arms at the hand of the state and limit the unjustified militarization of the society, Sadr has called to legalize all the armed factions in Iraq, including the Popular Mobilization Forces," Safa’a al-Timimi, the front man of Saraya al-Salam, told Arab News.

"Of course we are included in this (Sadr’s) call," al-Timimi said.

"We have already begun discussions with the ministers of defense and interior weeks ago to put in place a mechanism to include a number of our fighters in their formations," he added.

Saraya al-Salam has 6,000 fighters who are formally registered within the PMF, and they have been deployed in northwestern Karbala, central Samarra, Balad and Ishaqi, al-Timimi said.

"Our call is clear and explicit. The weapons have to be exclusively in the hands of the government and no one but the disciplined fighters will be included within the regular security services," al-Timimi said.

Kuwait names ruler's son as defense minister in shakeup
[Al Ahram] Kuwait has announced new picks for Cabinet, with five out of 16 members hailing from the royal family, including the ruler's son who has been chosen to head the Defense Ministry.

Nasser Sabah Al Sabah, in his 60s, will serve as defense minister and as deputy prime minister. He takes over the ministry from Mohammad Khaled Al Sabah.

Bakheet al-Rasheedi, the CEO of Kuwait Petroleum International, a subsidiary of the national Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, was chosen as oil minister, replacing Essam al-Marzouq.

Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al Sabah announced his selections Sunday with Kuwait's ruler, Sheikh Sabah, expected to approve the nominations.

The cabinet was dissolved in October after politicians were set to consider a no-confidence against one of the ministers from the ruling family over budget issues.

US military pound Taliban narcotics labs with M142 artillery system
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The US military in Afghanistan has released fresh videos which purportedly shows the deadly strikes on Taliban

province of Afghanistan using the M142 artillery system.

"A M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) conducts a strike on a Taliban narcotics production facility in Helmand province on December 8, 2017," the US Force in Afghanistan said.

According to a statement by USFOR-a "The artillery strike, part of an ongoing campaign by the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) and United States Forces-Afghanistan (USFOR-A), resulted in the destruction of nearly $1 million in direct Taliban revenues."

The US military says HIMARS is yet another U.S. capability being utilized to apply pressure on the Taliban, cutting off their economic lifelines and degrading their ability to continue operations.

The US military had earlier said "Carrier-based U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornets conduct a strike on multiple Taliban narcotics production facilities in Helmand province on December 7, 2017, as part of an ongoing campaign by the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) and United States Forces-Afghanistan (USFOR-A) to cut off the Taliban’s economic lifelines and degrade their ability to continue operations."

-led Resolute Support Mission and the US forces in Afghanistan Gen. John Nicholson said last month that the attacks on Taliban financial engine will continue as heavy losses have been inflicted on the group and its associated in recent raids.

"In just over three days’ worth of operations, the Afghan 215th Corps, their special forces commandos, their air force, in close cooperation with U.S. forces, removed between $7 million and $10 million of revenue from the Taliban’s pocketbook," Gen. Nicholson said.

He also added "And the overall cost to the drug trafficking organizations approached $48 million. So these strikes were just the first step in attacking the Taliban’s financial engine, and they will continue."

Netanyahu: Erdogan ‘bombs Kurdish villages,’ cannot lecture Israel
[RUDAW.NET] Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has slammed The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

’s Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
, saying he will not be lectured by a man who bombs Kurdish villages after the Ottoman Turkish president called Israel a "terrorist state."

"I’m not used to receiving lectures about morality from a leader who bombs Kurdish villages in his native Turkey," Netanyahu said on Sunday in a joint presser with French President Emmanuel Macron in Gay Paree.

Erdogan "helps terrorists, including in Gazoo, kill innocent people," Netanyahu went on. "That is not the man who will lecture us."

Netanyahu was reacting to comments made earlier in the day by Erdogan.

"Paleostine has been under occupation since 1947," the Ottoman Turkish leader said at a meeting of his party, Anadolu Agency reported. "Israel is an occupying state, a terrorist state."

Erdogan has been fiercely critical of US President Donald Trump

’s recent controversial decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. He called an emergency session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for Wednesday in Istanbul.

A Ottoman Turkish presidential spokesperson brushed off Netanyahu’s remarks, saying "Instead of attacking our country and our leader, the Israeli authorities should end the occupation of Paleostinian territories."

The report coincides with a visit by British Prime Minister Theresa May to the region this week where she highlighted the importance of combating the threat of groups from Hezbollah to ISIS.

"The report raises some troubling questions about Qatar’s regional policies," said Kyle Orton, author and research fellow at the Henry Jackson Society.

"Despite finding that in a number of areas Qatar has made significant improvements over time, it shows that the effects of prior policies‐ notably in Syria and Libya‐ will be lasting and deleterious.

"There is still progress to be made in terms of cracking down on terror finance from Qatar and the use of its state-run media as a platform for incitement and the dissemination of extremism."

Though Qatar has for some time positioned itself as a mediator and safe-haven for dissidents, it also hosts a number of terrorist organizations such as Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", and the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
, the report found.

It recommends that while Britannia should avoid publicly taking sides in the broader dispute between the Gulf states, Downing Street should use its influence in the region to press for changes in Qatar’s ransom payments policy, the appearance of Lions of Islam on state-run media and make major improvements in human rights

militias appear to have a "common origin," but they are still investigating US and Saudi claims that Iran supplied them, according to a confidential report.

The officials traveled to Saudi Arabia to examine the debris of missiles fired on July 22 and Nov. 4, wrote UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in the fourth biannual report on the implementation of UN sanctions and restrictions on Iran.

They found "that the missiles had similar structural and manufacturing features which suggest a common origin," said Guterres in the Friday report to the UN Security Council, seen by Rooters.

The report comes amid calls by the US for Iran to be held accountable for violating UN Security Council resolutions by supplying weapons to the Houthis.

The report said the UN officials saw three components, which Saudi authorities said came from the missile fired on Nov. 4. The components "bore the castings of a logo similar to that of the Shahid Bagheri Industrial Group" ‐ a UN-blacklisted company.

However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
the panel said it "as yet has no evidence as to the identity of the broker or supplier" of the missiles, which were likely shipped to the Houthis in violation of a targeted UN arms embargo imposed on Houthi leaders in April 2015.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syrian Army will create new brigades with captured ISIS weapons
To be fair, no doubt a good deal of the plunder came from Syrian army inventory to begin with.
[ALMASDARNEWS] The rapid defeat of Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
forces in eastern Syria over the last several months has seen the Syrian Arab Army capture untold quantities of military equipment from the terrorist group, most of which will likely go into the raising of new pro-government formations.

As Syrian pro-government forces chased ISIS out of its main strongholds along the western shore of Euphrates River, the jihadist faction never had the time to re-locate its weapons stockpiles.

The inevitable result of this was that such stockpiles came into the possession of the Syrian Army.

As video evidence has shown time and time again, the vast loot accumulated thus far comprises not only small arms, but also heavy weapons including mortars, howitzers, field guns, technicals, armored personnel carriers, main battle tanks and guided missiles.

Despite the fact that some Western-made weapon systems (particularly artillery and anti-tank missiles) were found, by far most of the equipment is of Soviet design.

This means that the Syrian Army, itself possessing Soviet/ Russian weapons, has compatible ammunition and spare parts to maintain the captured weapons and thus has the ability to press them into service.

Utilizing this great captured arsenal, it is expected that the Syrian Army will raise new formations, not only within its own service, but also within pro-government militias ‐ namely the National Defence Forces.

In addition to raising new units of local fighters whose job it is to protect recently liberated territories throughout the provinces of Homs, Hama and Deir Ezzor, the army’s 5th Assault Corps formation is also predicted to expand.

#16  Yes it is damning, but damning to the sources of that evidence, not to the alleged coordinators.
The evidence, remember, was paid for by Trump haters, and supplied by the Russians, and used to seek means of attacking Trump, by crazed Trump enemies in the FBI, the Department of Justice and by high level people in the Obama administration, after the election.

Was looking for such evidence from NSA sources after the election a normal part of transition activities by an outgoing administration?

What was the purpose of such abusive behavior?

It could only be fear; fear that the Trump administration would discover dreadful behavior that took place during the previous administration if it were allowed to take over normally.

We shall see.

Europe
Number of Salafists in Germany reaches record high
[DW] The fundamentalist Salafist ideology continues to draw adherents in Germany, the country's intelligence chief says. The movement is seen by authorities as a potential breeding ground for Islamic terrorism.

More Salafists
...Salafists are ostentatiously devout Moslems who figure the ostentation of their piety gives them the right to tell others how to do it and to kill those who don't listen to them...
are living in Germany than ever before, domestic intelligence chief Hans-Georg Maassen said on Sunday.

Maasen said the number of people adhering to the fundamentalist Islamic ideology had "risen to an all-time high," with the German intelligence agency BfV giving a figure of 10,800 Salafists in Germany as compared with 9,700 in December last year.

A growing "fragmentation" and drift to the private sphere of Salafism in Germany was making the scene harder to observe for authorities, Maassen said.

The BfV said the movement's recruitment drives have now more or less left the streets and mosques, and added that Salafists were instead being radicalized in small conspirative groups on the internet. The agency also pointed to the growing number of women's networks as posing a challenge for authorities, who have problems accessing them.

Security authorities see the Salafist movement as a potential springboard into Islamist terrorism, particularly for young Moslems.

German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere last year banned as unconstitutional a prominent recruitment campaign by the group in which passers-by were exhorted to read the Koran by banners bearing the word "Read!" ("Lies!" in German).

'Experienced fighters'
Maassen also said Islamists from the North Caucasus region represented a major threat to security in Germany, with some 500 murderous Moslems from republics such as Chechnya, Dagestan
...a formerly inoffensive Caucasus republic currently bedevilled by low-level Islamic insurgency, occasional outbreaks of separatism, ethnic tensions and terrorism, primarily due to its proximity to Chechnya. There are several dozen ethnic groups, most of which speak either Caucasian, Turkic, or Iranian languages. Largest among these ethnic groups are the Avar, Dargin, Kumyk, Lezgin, and Laks. While Russers form less than five percent of the population, Russian remains the primary official language and the lingua franca...
and Ingushetia now thought to be living in the country.
Goody.
"The affinity for violence, martial arts and weaponry held by many Islamists from the North Caucasus calls for attention from German security authorities," Maassen said.

He said that many of them had combat experience, having not only fought in the wars in Chechnya but also taken part in current conflicts in Syria and Iraq.
Oboy.
The BfV says the focus of the North Caucasian Islamist scene is in eastern states such as Brandenburg and Berlin, but that there are also so-called hot spots in the western states of North-Rhine Westphalia, Hamburg and Bremen.

Could Microwave Cruise Missiles or F-35s Really Stop North Korean Missile Tests?
[ConcernedUSPatriot] Regardless of these other theoretical possibilities, the idea that a CHAMP wielding cruise missile is some new panacea for North Korea’s missile program doesn’t hold water, and it’s frustrating seeing so many outlets depicting it otherwise without giving it any critical thought whatsoever.

#1  A F9 filled with thousand of iphones attached to solar cells and little tiny motors could do a damn good job. Have a celluar base station or some wifi routers up there with them and no problem to send the phones on kamikaze strikes. It only takes an orbital 8 gram impactor to take out a ICBM. A cellphone is more than 8 grams and cheap as weapons go.

orbital V is way more than ICBM V
So 4.87 oz for an Iphone 7 or 138.0622 grams
plus add some mass for an engine and solar cells - maybe take off the screen and you are still okay.

Yemeni army seizes Hays district in Hodeidah with coalition backing
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Yemeni armed forces arrived at their third district in Hodeidah west of Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
amidst a notable and strategic advancement for the third day in a row.

This progression is heavily backed by Arab-led coalition fighters led by Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, in the midst of a rapid fallback of the Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. militia.

The official Yemeni news agency confirmed that the Yemeni army was able to regain control of the Hays, al-Khokha triangle on Saturday evening, and began to enter the directorate of al-Tahita, the third district of Hodeidah.

The news agency quoted army sources saying that the national army has seized the district of Hays which is only 10 kilometers away from al-Khoukha. The sources also confirmed regaining control of farms and roads in northers Hays.

According to sources, the army has also entered the coastal directorate of al-Tahita and reached the al-Fazah farms in rural Zabid.

Houthi militias are quickly disintegrating on the west coast amidst battles with the Yemeni army and the Arab-led coalition to liberate Hodeidah.

According to civilian sources, there are large breakdowns in the Houthi frontlines. Tens are dead or injured while others have run away.

The Houthis have been in control of Hodeidah for the past three years following their coup, and have used its long coast lines to smuggle weapons coming in from Iran.

Its ports are also an important source of economic support for the militia to continue its war against the Yemenis. They also use them to steal relief attempts and to threaten international navigation.
