Huma's Cousin, Who Partnered With ‘Russian Donald Trump,' Convicted of Fraud, Tampered With Case By Deleting Emails
Seems to run in the family. You won't see this on CNN/MSDNC/NYT...
[DailyCaller] A cousin of Huma Abedin who did a half-billion dollar deal with a man known as the "Russian Donald Trump" was convicted of fraud Tuesday, and the judge ordered him jailed immediately, saying he had demonstrated a "disdain for the courts and legal process" and was a flight risk.

Court documents also depict him trying to destroy potential evidence, saying he emailed his brother to "delete all of my emails from the yahoo site," expressing "concern about them subp[o]ening yahoo at some point," while concocting other fake documents to show the jury.

Jurors were barred from hearing a recording of a phone call in which Omar Amanat dropped the name of Abedin, Hillary Clinton's right-hand woman, to a government witness, with defense lawyers saying the remark was "irrelevant and unfairly prejudicial," according to the Associated Press.

The indictment charges that Amanat convinced people to invest millions of dollars in a tech company called Kit Digital and lied to them to hide the fact that the company was hemorrhaging cash. "The evidence of their criminal schemes was so overwhelming that Amanat actually tried to fool the jury by introducing fake emails into the record as exculpatory 'evidence'; in this trial," acting Manhattan U.S. Attorney Joon H. Kim said in a statement. Prosecutors said he re-purposed millions of dollars of the company';s money for his own personal use.

Amanat posted to his web site Tuesday a cryptic blog post called "Injustice In America," saying, "The facts of this case will all be made plain to see shortly. You've only seen snippets. You're only seen what they want you to see. Stay tuned..."

It was just the latest in a long series of allegations that Amanat has built his riches by lying and gaming the system.

In 2013, Amanat partnered with Vladislav Doronin to buy a luxury resort for $358 million.

An in-depth 2014 profile in Fortune magazine says Doronin is "referred to in the British press as the 'Russian Donald Trump.'" Dorinin was born in what was then Leningrad before moving to Geneva to work for Marc Rich, a financier who fled the U.S. after being indicted for fraud and trading with Iran, and was pardoned by former President Bill Clinton on Clinton's last day in office.

"Clinton's motive for pardoning Rich on his last day in office was questioned," USA Today reports, "because Rich's ex-wife, Denise Rich, was a wealthy Democratic donor who made a $450,000 donation to Clinton's presidential library foundation and more than $100,000 to Hillary Clinton's Senate campaign." The pardon was investigated by the FBI in 2001.

After working with Rich, Doronin, with a supposed penchant for sexual jokes, returned to Russia and accumulated billions of dollars of Moscow real estate.

Amanat, for his part, claimed he made more than $200 million selling shares of Twitter. (An account purporting to be his hasn't tweeted since 2013; its most recent two tweets are about Abedin and a "defense of Islam.")

Amanat will be sentenced April 25. Another cousin of Abedin's, Irfan Amanat, has been also charged with fraud and will be tried separately. He, too, has a long record of flouting rules: In 2006, the Securities and Exchange Commission said as chief technology officer of a brokerage, he "engaged in a fraudulent scheme" by writing a computer program that tricked the Nasdaq exchange into giving him $50,000 in rebates.

Judge Upholds Controversial Bill Requiring Taxpayers to Fund Abortions in Illinois
[Breitbart] An Illinois Circuit Court judge rejected an attempt to block House Bill 40, which requires Illinois residents to pay for abortions regardless of their moral convictions in the matter.

The bill forces Illinois state residents to fund abortions of Medicaid recipients and state employee health insurance beneficiaries and sets no expense ceiling nor a limit on the number of abortions that Medicaid will cover.

On Thursday, a conservative, pro-life law firm filed for an emergency injunction concerning a recent lawsuit ‐ Springfield Right to Life v. Norwood ‐ in which the plaintiffs are seeking a restraining order and injunction against the bill.

Associate Judge Jennifer M. Ascher of Illinois’s Seventh Judicial Circuit Court heard the case Thursday and denied the request for an emergency injunction.

As Breitbart News reported in September, Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner ‐ a Republican ‐ signed HB40 into law, breaking his promise not to support the law and angering the pro-life base of his party.

"Nigerian Prince" email scammer arrested in Slidell
Funny, he doesn't look Nigerian
Police in Slidell, Louisiana say they've caught a man who helped scam people out of money by using one of the oldest scams online: the "Nigerian Prince" scam.
Nothing much good ever happens in Slidell.
Investigators say 67-year-old Michael Neu was involved in hundreds of financial transactions that were the result of spam emails like the one below.

The emails claim to be sent by an important foreign figure or dignitary reaching out to you for help. Despite the name, the emails come from many parts of the world and scammers are based in many countries, not just Nigeria. The dignitary offers the recipient a great sum of money in exchange for a little financial help. (They are commonly called "Nigerian Prince" email scams because that was the type of dignitary frequently used by scammers during the scam's rise to prominence in in the mid-2000's.)

Similar emails have been sent to inboxes across the country for nearly two decades. While most people immediately recognize the scam email for what for it is, some of the less tech-savvy amongst us have lost millions of dollars to the scams over the years.

Neu is facing 269 counts of Wire Fraud and Money Laundering. And yes, police say Neu did send some of that money to Nigeria in this case. Meanwhile, the investigation continues, but police say finding scammers outside the country will be difficult.

The Year Reheated
h/t Tim Blair
[DavidThompson] In which we marvel at the mental contortions of our self-imagined betters.

The year began with searing insights from the world of academia. Specifically, London’s School of Oriental and African Studies, where black student activists denounced objectivity as an "alienating" concept, and issued numerous demands, allegedly to challenge stereotypes of student laziness and inadequacy.

...February provided further illustrations of this fashionable malice, as when educators at the University of Cincinnati bemoaned the fact that their attempts to inculcate unrealism, dishonesty and pretentious racial guilt were still being met with pockets of resistance.

...Accessorising was an unexpected topic of discussion in March, when the crushingly put-upon students at Pitzer College, Claremont, California, informed the world that "winged eyeliner and big hoop earrings" are "an everyday act of resistance," and should therefore be the exclusive ornamentation of the slightly brown and radical.

...No less impressive were the attempts to "transform" middle-school children by making maths lessons "intersectional," thereby furthering the cause of "social justice." A process that entailed reducing the time available for humdrum things like trigonometry and using it instead to teach children to "subvert power," while scorning maths itself as a "dehumanising tool."

...In July, we once again witnessed the educational benefits of "an academic background in gender studies," and self-declared activist and single mother Jody Allard impressed us with her exemplary feminist parenting, and a determination to humiliate her own teenage sons, publicly and in print, for the sins of being white and male, and therefore, obviously, potential rapists.

...Our sexual horizons were broadened in September when we learned of the phenomenon of "ecosexuality" and the orgasmic delights of rock rubbing, tree licking and frottage al fresco.

Philly Judge Who Resigned over Sex Scandal and Was Jailed for Lying to FBI Now Running for Congress as Democrat
h/t Instapundit
[Breitbart] Willie Singletary, a former Philadelphia Traffic Court judge, has announced his run for the First District seat currently held by U.S. Rep. Robert Brady, who is also chairman of Philadelphia’s Democratic City Committee, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Singletary, 36, has quite a record to run on. In 2013, he was caught up in a ticket-fixing scandal that prosecutors at the time said benefited only Philly’s rich and powerful and cost the city and state hundreds of thousands in unpaid fines.

The judge was later declared not guilty of the charges, but he was convicted of lying to federal authorities during the investigation. He served 20 months in prison for the conviction, ending his sentence in 2016.

The scandal led voters to abolish the city’s traffic court in a 2016 ballot measure that moved traffic violations into the Municipal Court.

Singletary was also embroiled in controversy after a city cashier accused him of sending her cell phone photographs of his genitals. An investigation revealed salacious details of the judge’s actions during night court in 2012.

The judge was placed on suspension during the investigation and eventually resigned his position over the scandal.

For his part, Singletary admits he has "made mistakes" but insists that he would make a fine congressman.

"Even though I made some mistakes, I’m not a mistake," Singletary said in a video announcing his candidacy for Congress. "And just like many in our community, we all could use a fresh start."

Unsealed Court Docs Show How Prosecutors Tried To Rig Bundy Trial
[Daily Caller] Unsealed court documents detail how the team of prosecutors tasked with convicting Cliven Bundy and his sons of crimes relating to a 2014 armed standoff failed to turn over potential exculpatory evidence to the court, The Oregonian reports.

The Bundys’ case ended in a mistrial Dec. 20 after Judge Gloria Navarro ruled that prosecutors violated the civil rights of the defendants by withholding evidence supporting the Bundys’ case. Navarro is considering dismissing the case "with prejudice" and blocking prosecutors from retrying the case. Her decision will come Jan. 8, according to The New York Times.

"There were approximately 3,000 pages that were provided to us only after we started trial," Bundy lawyer Bret D. Whipple told TheNYT. "I personally have never seen anything like this, especially in a case of such importance."

Those 3,000 pages include the Bundys’ requests for multiple federal assessments that showed the Bundy family was likely not dangerous. Prosecutors called the requests part of a "long list of frivolous and vexatious pleadings," until a government witness, under cross examination, revealed knowledge of the assessments in court, The Oregonian reports.

Defense attorney’s asked federal prosecutors to hand over Inspector General reports on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) agent Dan Love, who directed the BLM raid on the Bundy ranch to seize the family’s cattle over decades of unpaid grazing fees. Love was fired from the agency in September for corruption and unethical behavior.

Prosecutors had dismissed the allegations and investigations of Love as an "urban legend," but ended up handing over 500 pages worth of reports on Love in December, according to The Oregonian.

The Bundys’ lawyers made two requests to Navarro for a special "discovery monitor" to ensure that all relevant documents were being turned over by the prosecution. Both requests were denied. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, however, launched an investigation into prosecutorial misconduct after the mistrial.

New York City police poised to thwart New Year's Eve suicide bombers
[Ynet] The New York Police Department is providing officers with specialized training to stop any jacket wallahs at Sunday's New Year's Eve celebration, when up to 2 million people will flood the streets of Times Square, officials said on Thursday.

The stepped-up training is in response to an attempted bombing in a Times Square subway station walkway on Dec. 11. It comes on top of increasingly stringent security for the city's New Year's Eve celebration in the years since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

The New York Police Department will also deploy observation teams trained to spot snipers, increase the number of explosive-detecting dogs and position more officers throughout the area this year.

‘We told the Israelis clearly, we’re staying in Syria,’ US official says
More on this story from yesterday.
[IsraelTimes] Administration source tells Channel 10 Israel's most pressing concern in recent White House talks on Iran was Tehran's entrenchment in the Arab country

Israel’s most pressing concern during a recent meeting in Washington on future cooperation on the Iranian threat was the Islamic republic’s entrenchment in Syria and US plans to counter Tehran’s ambitions, Channel 10 news reported Friday.

A senior administration official told Channel 10 that Israeli national security advisers Meir Ben-Shabbat wanted to know during the December 12 meeting in the White House whether the US was preparing to withdraw its forces from Syria. The Israelis, he said, were concerned as to whether the US was planning to remain involved militarily in Syria, as well as in diplomacy to end the civil war there.

"We answered the Israelis clearly," the unnamed US official told Channel 10. "We are staying in Syria, both with our troops and with regards to our involvement in any future diplomatic deal in the country."

Channel 10 further reported that this approach was later ratified by US President Donald Trump

in internal White House discussions.

Channel 10 on Thursday first reported that Israel and the US had secretly signed a far-reaching joint memorandum of understanding providing for full cooperation to deal with Iran’s nuclear drive, its missile programs and its other threatening activities.

group grabbed credit on Friday for a kaboom Wednesday that tore through a Saint Petersburg supermarket and maimed 14 people.

"The attack that targeted a shopping center in Saint Petersburg the day before yesterday was carried out by an Islamic State-linked group," IS said in a statement via its propaganda agency Amaq.

The homemade bomb went off in a locker at the supermarket on Wednesday evening, officials said. Officials said the bomb had the power equivalent to 200 grams of TNT.

Anna Mityanina, vice governor of Saint Petersburg, which is Russia’s second city, said on Twitter that of the maimed, eight remained in hospital care. Five people declined to be hospitalized, she added.

The kaboom occurred at around 6:45 p.m. local time as Russians geared up to celebrate the New Year ‐ the country’s biggest holiday ‐ followed by Russian Orthodox Christmas, which falls on January 7.

In a sign of the severity of the situation, the case was overseen by Russia’s National Anti-Terror Committee even though authorities initially opened a probe into attempted murder.

The blast comes after a suicide kaboom killed 15 people and maimed dozens on the Saint Petersburg metro in April. That bombing was claimed by a group linked to al-Qaeda which said it was a message to countries engaged in war with Moslems, a veiled reference to Russia’s military campaign in Syria.

Earlier this month Russia’s FSB security service said it had placed in durance vile

Day 2: Islamic State claims deadly attack on Egypt church
More on this story from yesterday.
[IsraelTimes] Gunman's shooting spree at Coptic house of worship leaves at least 9 dead south of Cairo, in latest assault on nation's Christians

The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
terror group grabbed credit for an attack Friday on a church south of Cairo that left at least nine people dead.

A "security detachment" carried out the attack on the Saint Mina Coptic church in the district of Helwan, IS said in a statement via its propaganda agency Amaq.

The attack was carried out by a gunman on a cycle of violence who opened fire outside the church and at a nearby store, sparking a shootout that killed at least nine people, including eight Coptic Christians, Egyptian authorities said. It was the latest attack targeting the country’s embattled Christian minority.

The gunman was also killed, along with at least one police officer, officials said.

The attack began when the gunman tried to break through the security cordon outside the Coptic Church of Mar Mina. It was not clear how many assailants were involved. Egypt’s Interior Ministry referred to only one, but the Coptic Orthodox church mentioned "button men."

Five people were maimed, including another police officer, Health Ministry front man Khaled Megahed said.

The attack came amid tightened security around churches and Christian facilities ahead of the Coptic Orthodox Christian celebrations of Christmas on January 7. Police have been stationed outside churches and in nearby streets across Cairo. President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi has personally chaired meetings with his top security chiefs in recent days to discuss security during New Year’s Eve and the Orthodox Christmas.

A video circulating on social media after Friday’s attack apparently showed the gunman lying on the ground with his face covered in blood. Authorities closed off the area around the church.

The Interior Ministry identified the assailant as Ibrahim Ismail Mostafa, who, the agency said, was involved in several previous attacks.
A known wolf, then?
The Interior Ministry said he was maimed and incarcerated

but made no mention of his death, which was reported by the Health Ministry.

The assailant had earlier shot up the nearby store owned by a Christian, the Interior Ministry said.

Samir Gerges, a witness to Friday’s church attack, said people inside the church closed the gates when the shooting began but that some bullets penetrated the building. Gerges said he was walking along a nearby street when the gunfire broke out. He saw people running and some taking cover in a nearby restaurant.

Another witness, 40-year-old Raouth Atta, was praying inside the church when the violence broke out.

"People were terrified and wanted to check on their families in other buildings of the church," she told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named by phone. "We stayed inside for 30 minutes before we were able to get out."

Once she was able to leave, Atta said, she saw blood everywhere.

"We kept praying," said the Rev. Boules, who was teaching a class in the church complex. On hearing gunfire, he went to check on his students, who were panicking and terrified.

Since December 2016, Egypt’s Copts have been targeted by the terrorists, who waged a series of attacks that left more than 100 dead and scores maimed. The country has been under a state of emergency since April after suicide kabooms struck two Coptic Christian churches on Palm Sunday.

The IS affiliate has grabbed credit for all the bombings targeting Christians.

A few thousand Palestinians riot in West Bank, Gaza for 4th week
[Ynet] Paleostinian rioters clash with Israeli forces in 20 different locations across the West Bank and on 9 different locations along the Gazoo border, protesting Trump's Jerusalem declaration.

Thousands of Paleostinians took to the steets of the West Bank and to the Gazoo border area on Friday to protest US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital for the fourth week in a row.

Paleostinian health officials said at least 50 rioters were maimed by live fire in Gazoo, with five at death's door, while at least 49 were maimed by live rounds, rubber bullets, tear gas and stun grenades in the West Bank, according to the Paleostinian news agency Ma'an.

Some 2,000 Paleostinians clashed with IDF forces on nine different locations along the Gazoo border fence. Rioters hurled stones at the forces and tried to sabotage the border fence. IDF forces responded mostly by firing tear gas, but also fired at four main instigators.

On the streets of Gazoo, about 1,500 people attended a rally protesting Trump's Jerusalem move, with demonstrators chanting "Death to America, death to Israel, and death to Trump."

At the same time, some 2,000 Paleostinians protested in 20 different locations across the West Bank, burning tires and hurling stones and Molotov cocktails at Israeli forces, who responded with crowd dispersal measures.

The demonstrations, however, appeared less intense in scale than previous Friday rallies called over Trump's announcement.

Gaza rocket barrage appears to target ceremony for captured soldier, IDF
[IsraelTimes] Video from scene shows family members of fallen sergeant Oron Shaul taking cover during concert marking his 24th birthday

Three rockets fired from the Gazoo Strip at Israel on Friday appeared to have been launched to deliberately coincide with a ceremony marking what would have been the 24th birthday of an IDF soldier who was killed in 2014, and whose remains are held by Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",.

In general, terrorist groups fire their rockets under the cover of darkness, rather than in broad daylight, as in Friday’s launches.

Three rockets were fired at the Sha’ar Hanegev and Sdot Hanegev regions of southern Israel on Friday afternoon. Two of them were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system, while the third struck near a building in a community in the area, causing damage.

The military censor did not allow the exact location of the strike to be published, as it could assist terrorist groups in fine-tuning their targeting for future attacks.

The launches were also directed toward the area where the ceremony was being held, at Kibbutz Kfar Aza, overlooking the place where Staff Sergeant Oron Shaul was killed in the 2014 Gazoo war.

The time and location of the event were publicized ahead of time.

The barrage came just after a musical performance, setting off loudspeakers in the area, which blared, "Code Red. Code Red," the term for an incoming rocket attack.

Far from bomb shelters, Jelin and the other members of the audience took cover on the grass, lying on the ground with their hands over their heads.

The loud blasts of the rockets being intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system could be heard in the video, though they could not be seen because of heavy cloud cover.

In the video, one member of the audience could be heard shouting in anger, saying repeatedly that Israel should "conquer Gazoo."

An organizer of the event called for everyone to keep calm and to make their way back to the kibbutz’s bomb shelters.

However,
there's more than one way to skin a cat...
Yesh Atid MK Haim Jelin, a former head of a regional council just outside Gazoo who was at the ceremony and others said the ceremony should continue "for Oron’s sake."

In a statement, Labor Party chief Avi Gabbay, who attended the event, said he was "filled with pride" that the ceremony went forward despite the attack.

Shortly after the rocket barrage, the Israel Defense Forces retaliated by attacking two Hamas positions with tank shelling and strikes from aircraft.

The rocket attack was the first such incident since December 18.

Police said one rocket that wasn’t shot down by the Iron Dome system was found outside a building that had sustained damaged from the impact. There were no reports of casualties.

This month saw two weeks of near-daily rocket launches, the largest incidence of missile-fire from the Strip since the 2014 Israel-Hamas war. These daily attacks had recently seemed to have come to an end.

According to Israeli assessments, the rockets are not being launched by Hamas, but by other terrorist groups in the Strip. However,
there's more than one way to skin a cat...
analysts have noted that Hamas has been either unwilling or unable to clamp down on the groups, as it has in the past.

Protesting Trump’s December 6 declaration that Jerusalem is the Israeli capital, terror group Hamas, which runs Gazoo and seeks Israel’s destruction, has called for a new intifada and vowed to liberate Jerusalem.

Prosecutor: Doctor Reused One-Use Anal Catheters On Patients
Ick.
[PHILADELPHIA.CBSLOCAL] A New Jersey surgeon’s medical license has been temporarily suspended for allegedly reusing disposable anal catheters on multiple patients.

Attorney General Christopher Porrino says East Brunswick-based colon and rectal surgeon Sanjiv Patankar allegedly washed and reused the one-use catheters that are inserted into patients during medical procedures.

State officials say they have evidence that Patankar ordered only five catheters during time when he performed 82 procedures requiring them.

The state Board of Medical Examiners unanimously voted to suspend the doctor’s license last week, saying he "placed patients in clear and imminent danger."

Patankar’s license will remain temporarily suspended pending a full hearing in the state Office of Administrative Law and until the Board of Medical Examiners takes final action based on further findings.

Actions taken against Haqqani network in North Waziristan, claims Pak army
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Pak military officials are claiming that actions have been taken against the notorious Haqqani terrorist network in North Wazoo tribal region of Pakistain.

A front man for the military of Pakistain General Asif Ghafoor told news hounds on Thursday that army went into North Waziristan indiscriminately and took action against the Haqqani network as well.

"The effect of an operation does not fully appear immediately. What we do today, its impact will be felt tomorrow," he was quoted saying by Daily Times.

This comes as the Afghan and US officials are saying that the Haqqani network and the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
group leadership councils are still based in Pakistain.

In its latest report released nearly two weeks ago, Pentagon said certain turban and terror groups including the Taliban and Haqqani network still have freedom of action inside the Pak soil.

"Although Pak military operations have disrupted some turban sanctuaries, certain bad boy groups‐such as the Taliban and the Haqqani Network‐retains freedom of movement in Pakistain. The United States continues to convey to all levels of Pak leadership the importance of taking action against all terrorist and bad boy groups," the report said.

It further added that the Department of Defense will be a part of a whole-of-government, regional strategy to isolate the Taliban from sources of external support and to mitigate any malign influence from outside actors.

Marie Harf: Strategy That Led to Defeat of ISIS Was Laid Out During Obama Administration
[BREITBART] Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s "The Five," former Obama State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf said the "strategy" that led ISIS’s defeat was "laid out during the B.O. regime by military commanders."

She added, "President Trump has loosened the rules of engagement. He has allowed the military to use more bombs for example and so I think that has helped. But for me, the bigger question is what is the strategy going forward? There are tens of thousands of ISIS fighters who once they lose this territory in Syria and Iraq are going to go back to Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
they are going to go online they are going to radicalize people like we have seen try to commit terrorist attacks here in the U.S. So in terms of the fight against ISIS this is a good step, but the fight is going to continue in a different and almost more dangerous way."
Strategies are laid out all the time. Credit goes to the one who chooses among the options, then executes in a timely and effective manner.
The strategy that led to ISIS' defeat was laid out when Obama left office.
Yes, there may very well be more of a Soetoro "strategy" than we know. The long awaited Persian land-bridge to the Med is all but completed. Important to not let it be finished during a Soetoro administration. A notional ISIS 'defeat' effort was necessary. As you may recall, the 'air-bridge' from Tehran to Damascus (across a U.S. vacated Iraq) went on throughout the Soetoro years. The actual defeat of ISIS and messy geo-political mopping up was to be left for the follow-on administration.

#5  Soetoro ran the Joint Prioritized Effects List or JPEL out of his office and used it for his political (not tactical or strategic) advantage. #8  NO ONE was supposed to do a Bin Ladin raid. We were supposed to whom he talked to here, his messengers, their computer usage, his contacts with the ISI, his contacts in Iraq, his contacts in Iran, and sahel. But you do not give up any game until you have commo from his contacts here in the US first.

There is far more about this I like to say, but this was a failure - not in capture, but in pulling up the weeds before the crop has grown and a complicit nation to boot.

Nothing obama ever did solidified anything, ever.

#12  Obama never did anything right. He always did everything wrong. That's how we got ISIS in the first place. Their weapons were leftovers from our involvement in Iraq or else transfers from Benghazi via Turkey. Obama had to know and most likely ordered it.

Israel officially announces withdrawal from UNESCO
[PRESSTV] The head of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has confirmed receiving Israel's official letter announcing the regime's withdrawal from the UN cultural body.

In a Friday statement, Audrey Azoulay expressed deep regret over Israel's decision, saying the withdrawal is set to take effect on December 31, 2018.

"It is inside UNESCO and not outside it" that differences can be resolved, he said.

On October 12, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed his foreign ministry to prepare Israel’s withdrawal from UNESCO, accusing the UN body of "anti-Israel bias."

In 2017, UNESCO adopted two Arab-sponsored resolutions against Israel, with one referring to Israel as "the occupying power" in Jerusalem al-Quds and the other declaring the Old City of al-Khalil (Hebron) as a Paleostinian World Heritage site.

Couple murdered in Muzaffarabad in likely 'honour killing'
[DAWN] A man and a woman, believed to have eloped, were bumped off in Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmire on Friday by three person or persons unknown in what is being treated as a case of 'honour killing', police sources said.

Forty-six-year-old Sarfraz Khan ‐ a labourer hailing from Swabi but a resident of Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
according to his CNIC ‐ and an unidentified woman accompanying him had arrived at the house of Chaudhry Maqsood, a former employer of Sarfraz's, a few days ago.

Upon arrival, Sarfraz had introduced the said woman as his wife to Maqsood, at whose place Sarfraz used to stay occassionally.

The couple was strolling in the yard of Maqsood's house around Friday noon when three assailants on a cycle of violence approached them. Seeing the men, the couple retreated into their room and locked it from the inside.

The commotion startled Maqsood’s family, who were told by the alleged attackers if they stay calm no harm would come to them.

The trio soon managed to break open the door, after which they sprayed the couple with bullets, killing them on the spot.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Muhammad Asif Durrani, the couple were hit by 14 bullets between themselves.

The police recovered a mobile phone from Sarfraz's body, with the only contact in the device being a certain Nazakat, another former employer of Sarfraz, whose house he had helped build and stayed at occasionally.

Upon contacting Nazakat, it was learnt that a woman claiming to be Sarfraz's first wife had paid him a visit, asking his whereabouts.

"I met her early on Friday," Nazakat was quoted as saying by ASP Durrani. "She told me that Sarfraz was her [former] husband but he had divorced her and kidnapped another woman."

Police further said Sarfraz's ex-wife was also accompanied by the slain woman's brother.

Meanwhile,
...back at the pie fight, Bella opened her mouth at precisely the wrong moment...
the identities of the assailants have yet to be established, with the ASP saying: "Whether they entered the area on a cycle of violence or if they were already staying here for some time is yet to be ascertained. We are keeping a strict roadside vigil and also checking guest lists of local hotels. We are also looking into the possibility of involvement of local controllers."

Four killed, lawmaker escapes death as Boko Haram attacks Adamawa community

... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
gunnies have attacked Kamale community in Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

Residents and officials said at least four people were killed and many others including a House of Representatives member, Adamu Kamale, injured

Security and local sources said though the incident occurred on Christmas Day, it was not reported until Thursday evening due to communication problems in the mountainous area of Michika.

’’It was not reported until Thursday due to lack of communication and the survivors have scampered while others climbed mountains for their lives,’’ Micheal Zira, one of the fleeing residents said.

Confirming the attack on Friday, the distraught politician, Mr. Kamale, said the assailants sneaked into the town while people were celebrating Xmas.

"It was horror and we saw hell when the button men, though I cannot ascertain whether they were Boko Haram or not came to the area at about 11 p.m. on Monday being the Christmas day and launched an attack on residents.

"They just opened fire sporadically during which they killed four people while several other residents were maimed in a bid to escape the onslaught.

"I escaped being killed by (the) whiskers and I can’t recall how I managed to climb the mountain. It was terrible," the politician, who represents Michika and Madagali federal constituency, said.

He urged the government to deploy more soldiers to curb insecurity in the area.

Liberians celebrate ex-soccer star’s victory
[ARABNEWS] Liberians on Friday feted former football star George Weah’s presidential victory in the country’s first democratic transfer of power in seven decades scarred by civil wars, political liquidations and an Ebola crisis.

Weah, idolized in Liberia as "Mister George," is set to replace Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, who took over in 2006 at the helm of the west African state founded by freed US slaves. He will be sworn in on Jan. 22.

The 51-year-old starred at top-flight European clubs Gay Paree Saint-Germain and AC Milan in the 1990s, before briefly playing for Chelsea and Manchester City toward the end of his career.

Weah, who entered politics after retiring from football in 2002, easily beat Vice President Joseph Boakai in Thursday’s run-off vote, gaining 60.5 percent of the ballot against 38.5 percent for his rival. Weah won in 14 of Liberia’s 15 counties.

Woman says nurse took, shared nude photos of her during surgery at Washington Hospital
[TRIBLIVE] Sheila Harosky said a colleague approached her with cellphone photos when she returned to work after recovering from surgery.

"I've got something for your scrapbook," Harosky said the colleague told her. "It's a little explicit."

The images showed an anesthetized Harosky on an operating table at Washington Hospital, naked from the ankles up. She was employed as an operating room secretary at the hospital at the time.

"I couldn't believe what I was looking at," Harosky told the Tribune-Review on Thursday. "I looked up and said, ’What the hell is the matter with you?' And she thought it was funny."

Harosky, 45, of Charleroi filed a lawsuit this month in Washington County Common Pleas Court alleging invasion of privacy, medical malpractice and other claims. Plaintiffs include the hospital; Sharon Bourgo, the colleague who Harosky said showed her the cellphone photos; and Dr. Dennis Brown, who performed an incisional hernia surgery on Harosky on Sept. 21, 2016.

[PJMEDIA] An American-accented ISIS fighter who apparently lost a leg fighting with the terror group was featured in a new Islamic State video calling on Western supporters, including the disabled, to conduct knife or gun attacks.

The bearded jihadist is referred to by nom de guerre Abu Salih Al-Amriki, or the American, and is shown using crutches and attaching a prosthetic leg. In "Inside the Khilafah" video released by ISIS' official al-Hayat Media Center in English and Arabic, Abu Salih also calls for would-be terrorists to take advantage of gun availability in the United States.

Adam Schiff Triggered After Trump Says He Has ‘Absolute Right’ To Do What He Wants With the Justice Department
[THEGATEWAYPUNDIT] President Trump gave The New York Times an interview this week from the Grill Room at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach. In the interview, President Trump told the New York Times he has absolute right to do what he wants with the Justice Department when asked if he would order the DOJ to reopen Hillary’s email investigation:

Asked whether he would order the Justice Department to reopen the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails, Mr. Trump appeared to remain focused on the Russia investigation.

“I have absolute right to do what I want to do with the Justice Department,” he said, echoing claims by his supporters that as president he has the power to open or end an investigation. “But for purposes of hopefully thinking I’m going to be treated fairly, I’ve stayed uninvolved with this particular matter.”

Suspected leaker, Adam Schiff tweeted Friday morning, “Trump: “I have absolute right to do what I want to do with the Justice Department.” No, you don’t. You can do what you want with your golf courses. But the country and its Justice Department belong to the American people.”

South Korea holds Hong Kong ship over North Korean oil
[BREITBART] South Korea said Friday that it was holding a Hong Kong-flagged ship and its crew members for allegedly violating U.N. sanctions by transferring oil to a North Korean vessel in October.

The Lighthouse Winmore is believed to have transferred about 600 tons of refined petroleum products to the North Korean ship, the Sam Jong 2, in international waters on Oct. 19, after leaving the South Korean port of Yeosu, a South Korean Foreign Ministry official said.

South Korean customs authorities boarded the ship and interviewed crew members after they returned to Yeosu on Nov. 24. South Korea formally seized the ship after the U.N. Security Council on Dec. 22 imposed new sanctions on North Korea that allow member states to seize, inspect and freeze vessels that are suspected of transferring banned goods to or from North Korea, the official said. He spoke on condition of anonymity, citing office rules.

The ship’s 25 crew members ‐ 23 of them Chinese nationals and two from Myanmar ‐ are being held at Yeosu but will be allowed to leave South Korea after authorities are finished investigating them, the official said. South Korea plans to report the results of its inspection to the U.N. Security Council’s sanctions committee.

Uganda charges 45 Rwandans with ‘terrorism’
[ARABNEWS] Uganda has charged 45 Rwandans with terrorism following their arrest at the border with Tanzania earlier this month, a police front man said Friday.

"We jugged
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
43 Rwandan suspects at the border with Tanzania on Dec. 11. On further investigations two other suspects were arrested," police front man Emilian Kayima told AFP.

All have been charged "with carrying forged documents, false identities and the serious charge of terrorism as their intentions were pointing to that," he said without providing more details.

The suspects are being held at Nalufenya prison, east of the capital Kampala, often used to jail those accused of terrorism or involvement with rebel groups.

The suspects had been living in Uganda and claim they were traveling to Tanzania as evangelists.

But Rwanda says they are members of the Rwanda National Congress, an opposition party in exile led by former allies of President Paul Kagame, that Kigali deems a terrorist organization.

Syria: Hundreds left behind in evacuations
[ARABNEWS] More than 400 patients on a UN list waiting for evacuations from a siege in Syria were left behind on Friday as the Red Thingy said it had finished transferring just 29 people and their families to Damascus for medical care.

It took the International Committee of the Red Thingy and the Syrian Arab Red Islamic Thingy three days to evacuate the patients and their family members from the Eastern Ghouta suburbs of Damascus to hospitals just minutes away, underscoring the degree to which authorities have obstructed basic relief work in the war-torn country.

The UN submitted a list of names to the government six months ago of patients requiring evacuation from the regime’s siege of the suburbs of its own capital because they were suffering from war wounds, kidney failure, and malnutrition.

In November, UN humanitarian adviser Jan Egeland said the list had reached 494 names, and 12 patients had died waiting for care. The UN’s children’s agency said more than 100 children require evacuation.

Iran’s Asia oil exports skid to lowest since April 2016
[PRESSTV] The latest official figures show that imports of Iranian crude oil by major buyers in Asia tumbled 29 percent in November from the same month a year ago to the lowest volumes since April 2016.

In total, China, India, Japan and South Korea imported 1.36 million barrels per day (bpd) last month from Iran, Rooters reported quoting government and ship-tracking data.

The drop came after imports hit highs earlier this year and last when Tehran ramped up exports after the lifting of sanctions that had targeted its disputed nuclear program.

The slowdown had been expected, as oil loadings bound for Asia fell below 1.5 million bpd in October, Rooters quoted a person with knowledge of Iran's tanker schedules.

Tehran is pushing to retain its prized Asian customers, hoping price reductions will boost the appeal of its crude compared with other Middle Eastern grades.

China, the biggest buyer, purchased 8.8 percent less oil from Iran year-on-year.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth had turned a paler shade of blue. Star-A-Star had struck again...
India's refiners cut Iranian oil imports by more than half in November, Rooters added, squeezing them to a 21-month low.

Imports to Japan were down 19 percent from a year earlier to 193,141 barrels per day, the report added.

More than 60% of Iran’s crude oil is shipped to Asian countries and about 40% to Europe. The country continues to retain its major Asian oil customers by offering spot cargoes as it tries hard to regain lost market share since sanctions were lifted last year.

Man absolved of blasphemy charges after nine years in prison
[DAWN] A man accused of blasphemy won freedom on Friday after spending over nine years in jail.

The Supreme Court absolved the 58-year-old of the blasphemy charges for want of evidence.

Police incarcerated
Please don't kill me!
him on Sept 29, 2008 for allegedly desecrating pages of the Holy Koran in a mosque in the Sadiq Gunj area of Bahawalnagar and started the paperwork but haven't done much else under Section 295-B of the Pakistain Penal Code (PPC).

Suffering from hearing and speech impairments, Akhtar Mohammad had reported the incident to Imam Hafiz Mohammad Munir who informed the local panchayat, where the suspect was beaten up and later handed over to police.

The police filed a charge sheet against him before the Bahawalnagar district and sessions judge who sentenced the man to life imprisonment in 2009.

The Lahore High Court upheld the sentence in 2014. The Supreme Court took up the case the same year and provided the accused a state counsel as he could not afford a lawyer.

During the hearing on Friday, the defence counsel pointed out that the prosecution evidence produced against the accused was not in accordance with the Evidence Act. He argued that the star witness in the case was a person suffering from hearing and speech impairments and, therefore, could not even be termed a witness under the Evidence Act.

The counsel contended that investigation into the incident did not fulfil the mandatory requirements of the Criminal Procedure Code.

After hearing the arguments, a Supreme Court bench comprising Justice Dost Mohammad and Justice Qazi Faez Isa absolved the accused of the blasphemy charges with the observation that the person who falsely accused others of desecration of the Holy Koran and revered personalities in fact committed blasphemy.

US choppers evacuate Daesh commanders from Syria’s Dayr al-Zawr: Report
[PRESSTV] US helicopters have reportedly evacuated commanders of the ISIS Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
terrorist group from Syria’s eastern province of Dayr al-Zawr to the neighboring province of Hasakah.

Syria's official news agency, SANA, citing information received from local residents, reported on Friday that the American helicopters had evacuated ISIS commanders from several districts of Dayr al-Zawr province on Wednesday, adding that this was the second time the US military evacuated ISIS terrorists.

Earlier this week, the Syrian government sent a message to the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
, accusing the US-led coalition of reaching deals with ISIS and coordinating its actions with the terror group’s commanders.

The US-led coalition of 68 countries claims to have been conducting Arclight airstrikes against what are said to be ISIS targets inside Syria since September 2014 without any authorization from the Damascus government or a UN mandate. Such air raids began in Iraq in August of the same year.

The military alliance has repeatedly been accused of targeting and killing civilians. It has also been largely incapable of fulfilling its declared aim of destroying ISIS, which has already lost all of its urban strongholds in Syria and is just in control of some small pockets of land in the Middle Eastern country.

Boko Haram used 135 children in 'perverse death missions' this year
[THEJOURNAL.IE] IN THE LAST year, 135 children have been used in so-called suicide kabooms by terrorist group Boko Haram

in Nigeria and the Lake Chad Basin.

Figures provided to TheJournal.ie by children’s charity Unicef highlight an increase in the last year in children being used by the group in this way. There were 112 of these attacks in Nigeria and 23 in Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
Girls were more likely to be used in attacks, ‐ 93 of the children involved in so-called suicide attacks were girls.

In a report earlier this year, the charity said the rise in these attacks this year is deeply troubling for both the civilian victims and for the children being forced to carry out the bombings.

Russian tankers fueled North Korea via transfers at sea - sources
[Reuters] LONDON/MOSCOW - Russian tankers have supplied fuel to North Korea on at least three occasions in recent months by transferring cargoes at sea, according to two senior Western European security sources, providing an economic lifeline to the secretive Communist state.
Not to be outdone this week by our other good friends the Chinese.
The sales of oil or oil products from Russia, the world’s second biggest oil exporter and a veto-wielding member of the United Nations Security Council, breach U.N. sanctions, the security sources said.

The transfers in October and November indicate that smuggling from Russia to North Korea has evolved to loading cargoes at sea since Reuters reported in September that North Korean ships were sailing directly from Russia to their homeland.

"Russian vessels have made ship-to-ship transfers of petrochemicals to North Korean vessels on several occasions this year in breach of sanctions," the first security source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Reuters.

A second source, who independently confirmed the existence of the Russian ship-to-ship fuel trade with North Korea, said there was no evidence of Russian state involvement in the latest transfers.

Uncaring malice. I could easily believe that neither of those nations has made a conscious decision to support the Norks other than in the most vague way possible - but on the other hand, certain individuals in those countries have (in the best capitalist tradition) seen a need, are filling it, and as long as their masters get a proper cut, just don't care.

Man jailed for 17 years for marrying with two sisters on the same day
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A man has been tossed in the clink

for 17 years for marrying with two sisters on the same day, the provincial Appellate Court of Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
said on Wednesday.

A judicial hearing was organized and chaired by the Nangarhar Appellate Court chief Abdul Wali Qazizada to review the case.

According to a statement by the Nangarhar Appellate court, the man was sentenced to 17 years in jail while his father was awarded a jail term of 16 years.

Another suspect who was also accused of forcing one of the two sisters into the marriage was also sentenced to 16 years in jail.

The man identified as Khan had reportedly married with the sister of his wife after he claimed that his wife was not virgin.
The Appellate Court of Nangarhar says the verdict is not final and convicts can apply for an appeal in the next court hearing.

The man identified as Khan had reportedly married with the sister of his wife after he claimed that his wife was not virgin.

Khan was earlier awarded a jail term of 18 years by a primary court in Nangarhar after the case was reviewed in the month of May this year.

The primary court had also awarded jail terms of 17 years to two his lover companions while the prayer leader who had organized the Nikah was tossed in the clink

for seven years.

However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
the Appellate Court pardoned him during the second court hearing after finding that the Mullah Imam was not aware when the second sister was forced to marry with the man.

The man had married with the two sisters last year in Khewa district and was enjugged

after reports regarding the forced marriage went viral and was widely condemned.

Their father will not want them back, they cannot marry elsewhere, and the first married now is subject to honour killing by any relations who believe — or believe that others will believe — that she was not chaste before marriage.

Saudi military aircraft hit civilian areas in Yemen’s Sa’ada, kill 4
[PRESSTV] Saudi military aircraft have pounded residential areas in Yemen’s northwestern province of Sa’ada, killing four civilians and injuring a number of others.

According to Yemen’s al-Masirah television network, Saudi warplanes targeted the Ghamar district of the Arab country's mountainous province of Sa’ada early on Friday.

One woman and a child were among those killed, the report added.

Saudi raids have been met with a strong response from Yemen’s Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
Ansarullah fighters and allied forces.

On Thursday, Yemeni armed forces targeted the positions of Saudi-backed mercenaries in the Arab country’s western coasts, killing or injuring around 50 snuffies and destroying their military vehicles.

Dozens of Saudi-sponsored snuffies were also captured during the retaliatory operation.

The latest Saudi Arclight airstrikes came only hours after a high-ranking UN official slammed the Saudi-led coalition for massacring more than a hundred civilians, including 54 at a crowded market and 14 members of one family in a farm, across Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
in the past 10 days.

"These incidents prove the complete disregard for human life that all parties, including the Saudi-led coalition, continue to show in this absurd war," Jamie McGoldrick, the UN humanitarian coordinator for Yemen, said on Thursday.

Trump draws attention to case against ex-Dem IT aide Imran Awan
[FOXNEWS] President Trump is drawing attention to the mysterious federal court case against Imran Awan, the former IT aide to a number of congressional Democrats, including former Democratic National Committee chairman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz
...Congresswoman from Florida, the abrasive chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. She has been a politician since 1992, and prior to that was in training as a political science major. Her primary accomplishment seems to be that she's Jewish...
.
"Whatever happened to this Pak guy who worked with the DNC?" the president asked in an interview published Thursday by the New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

It sounds like the NYT interview was considerably more useful to getting out President Trump’s message than the Times intended.
A grand jury in August returned an indictment in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia charging Awan and his wife, Hina Alvi, with a total of four counts, which included federal bank fraud and conspiracy. Awan has pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
to all charges.

"Whatever happened to them?" Trump continued. "With the two servers that they broke up into a million pieces? Whatever happened to him?"

The president brought up the case while denying any collusion between his campaign and the Russians during the 2016 election.

Awan has not been charged with anything specific to his IT duties in Congress. But the case has drawn interest from Republican politicians because of Awan’s role for prominent Democrats and the access he had to sensitive data.

Awan and other IT aides for House Democrats had been on Sherlocks’ radar for months over concerns of alleged equipment theft, access to sensitive computer systems and more, according to reports dating back to early 2017.

Awan and his wife are facing allegations they engaged in a conspiracy to obtain home equity lines of credit from the Congressional Federal Credit Union by giving false information about two properties ‐ and sending the proceeds to individuals in Pakistain.

#2  "Whatever happened to them?" Trump continued. "With the two servers that they broke up into a million pieces? Whatever happened to him?"

Yes, very same questions we've been asking in this forum. Other than their broad range of IT congressional access among members of the DNC, we know so very little about the Awans. Let's suppose for a moment the Awans enjoyed a similar range of IT access (albeit clandestine) on the other side of the aisle. A sort of insurance policy as it were.

But of course that would be something we'd have no need in knowing, wouldn't it? Sensitive foreign intelligence matters, sources & methods, that sort of thing no doubt. I should probably move on.

This Week in Guns, December 30th, 2017

By Chris Covert
Rantburg.com

The ATF has proposed a new rule regarding the bump stock, the device used in Las Vegas last fall to simulate full automatic rifle fire. I think if the rule is approved, the ATF will be sued and rule will be dropped.

I have an idea about regulating bump stocks: don't buy one. There - problem solved.

A news report from the UK Independent describes a New York leftist gun group, part of the Redneck Revolt network of leftist groups, whose intent is to protect minorities from Trump supporters by using firearms.

Much of the report is from the group’s founders, with little imput from anyone else. Commenters at Hershel Smith's blog point out that New York has draconian gun laws which can put a damper on the enthusiasm behind the new gun group. Because of that, Trump supporters can't get decent firearms in New York either.

Leaving aside for the moment the presumed nobility of their efforts to protect ethnic groups that did not ask to be protected, wouldn't it be easier to go with freedom? Ditch the 20,000+ gun laws in the US and let minorities decide how they will protect themselves?

Two Kenyans Among Shaboobs Injured In US Airstrike In Somalia
[RADIOSHABELLE] Two Kenyans are among bandidos bandidos murderous Moslems injured after an Arclight airstrike by United States forces at an al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
camp in Somalia on Christmas Eve.

Mohammed Ahmed Farah alias Mohammed Kheir and Abdullahi Wilif from Wajir County survived the strike at the terrorists’ training camp at Ball Raho.

They are currently being treated at Aus qurun medical camp, operated by al-Shabaab, according to a document shared among Kenyan security agencies and seen by the Nation.

Kenya Defence Forces planes also dropped bombs at another al-Shabaab camp on Thursday, killing two bandidos bandidos murderous Moslems and injuring four others.

RESCUE

KDF surveillance teams spotted al-Shabaab rescue teams arrive at Bohadi, the bombed camp at 2 pm, the document added.

"The rescue team from Kukumo al-Shabaab camp reached the site, collected the bodies and the injured and took them to Kukumo. The KDF plane that conducted the airstrike was clearing the routes for

KDF troops travelling from Busar to Elwak ," the document also said.

The bombed camp is located between Busar and Burahache within Gedo, a region categorised as sector two and falls under KDF mandate.

The camp targeted by the US air strike is located between Aus Qurun and Wargadud.

"There were 300 recruits at the camp at the time of the attack and dozens of them were either killed or injured," according to the document.

EXPLOSIVES

International forces in Somalia intensified attacks against al-Shabaab over the festive period, killing 17 Death Eaters.

They include Wednesday’s attack in which four bad boyz were potted after an airstrike by United States military.

A vehicle rigged up with explosives was destroyed during the airstrike, said a statement by US Africa Command.

The vehicle-borne improvised bomb is similar to one used by al-Shabaab to attack a Kenya Defence Camp in El-Adde and Kolbiyo, in which many lives were lost.

"The forces will continue to use all authorised and appropriate measures to protect the US, its partners and interests, and deny safe haven to terrorist groups. This includes partnering with AMISOM and

Somali National Security Forces in combined counterterrorism operations and targeting terrorists, their training camps, and their safe havens throughout Somalia and the region," the statement added.

Price protests turn political in Iran as rallies spread
[REUTERS] Demonstrators hollered poorly rhymed slogans against the government in several cities across Iran on Friday, Iranian news agencies and social media reports said, as price protests turned into the largest wave of demonstrations since nationwide pro-reform unrest in 2009.

Police dispersed anti-government demonstrators in the western city of Kermanshah as protests spread to Tehran and several other cities a day after rallies in the northeast, the semi-official news agency Fars said.

The outbreak of unrest reflects growing discontent over rising prices and alleged corruption, as well as concern about the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s costly involvement in regional conflicts such as those in Syria and Iraq.

An official said a few protesters had been tossed in the clink
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
in Tehran, and footage posted on social media showed a heavy police presence in the capital and some other cities.

Iranian protesters urge their government: Let go of Palestine

[Ynet] Anti-government protests continue for second day, spreading from the northeast to the capital Tehran; protesters bemoan Iran's costly involvement in regional conflicts - providing financial aid to Assad, Hezbollah, Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",, Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen.

#8  I'm with ya newc.

Couple days back something came across me which was very subtle and very specific, which led to our campfire talk wondering how quickly Iran's expeditionary forces could be recalled. Mood was turning from tense to potentially sporty. Deeper than 'high prices' or 'where's our cut of the Obama money'. Some of these issues may have been the last straw, looks like it has become something larger.

WZ has been posting video, but now states the internet has been shut off. Ace had a deal that highlighted 2000 Team Gov Good supporters showed for a rally. That is not very many at all - could just be the hard core, could be every other swinging baton is deployed, could be all the support which could gather.

Internet was kept on a day longer than I would have guessed. I'm thinking Team Gov Good was investigating the scope and stronghold locations.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Palm Coast man rigs door to electrocute pregnant wife, deputies say
[NEWS-JOURNALONLINE] A Palm Coast man rigged the front door of his home with wiring attached to a car battery charger in an attempt to electrocute his pregnant wife, Flagler County Sheriff’s Sherlocks said.

Michael Wilson, 32, is accused of trying to kill his wife after he attached electrical devices to the inside of the deadbolt lock and the door handle of their Palm Coast home, according to a charging affidavit. The ploy, which could have easily led to her death, was to have her insert the house key and then grab the handle, completing the circuit and sending a jolt of electricity through her arm, chest and heart.

Fortunately for Wilson’s wife, who was in Knoxville, Tennessee with family at the time, she never took a hold of that door knob. Her stepfather, Jon Flositz, became suspicious after she told him Wilson had warned her not to let a child touch it. Flositz went to examine the house with his wife, Alissa, and they found the word "Hi" and a drawing of two eyes in what appeared to be lipstick on the back sliding door, according to the deputy’s report.

He contacted authorities, and when they responded to 110 White Hall Drive on Tuesday, they found the front door was barricaded and locked. Burn marks were seen near the door’s handle. A kick to the door sent off a large spark.

On the other side was an elaborate rigging consisting of two chairs, a child’s high chair, blue tape, a shower-type rod, electrical cords, wiring ‐ some of which was cut from a bedroom salt rock lamp ‐ and a car battery charger with clamps.

Wilson is charged with two counts of attempted aggravated battery on a pregnant person and one count of grand theft of a firearm.

In addition to the electric rigging, deputies found a series of strange items within the house: pictures of a sonogram on the kitchen table, sticky-note love letters in the bedroom with a photo album showing Wilson and his wife together, and the wife’s recently-installed smart cameras dumped in the toilet.

A Facebook page belonging to Wilson shows him gripping two handguns, and he boasts that he "is the guy that your father warned you about." It also lists him as "widowed."

#8  From Silentbrick's link (and pic of the pencil necked asshole):
A 25-year-old man believed to be behind a swatting incident that led to a fatal police shooting in Wichita, Kansas, has been arrested in Los Angeles, officials say. He has been identified as Tyler Raj Barriss, who is known online as "SWAuTistic."

Barriss, 25, was arrested in South Los Angeles on Friday afternoon. He was taken into custody on a fugitive warrant, according to NBC News, but details about the charges he is currently facing were not immediately available.

Barriss, who has a history of swatting, was arrested in October 2015 and charged with making two bomb threats to ABC7 (KABC-TV). The first one happened on September 30, 2015, when the channel's studios in Glendale, California, were evacuated and searched by police.

The incident in Wichita began at about 6:15 p.m. on Thursday when police received a call stating that someone had killed his father by shooting him in the head. The caller further claimed that the shooter was now holding his mother, brother and sister hostage.

#17  "Doesn't this suggest something about the state of policing in this country?"
There are plenty of recent examples.
Scared guy with a gun lacking training.
Training is the real issue when all is said and done.
Posted by: newc || 12/30/2017 17:39 Comments || Top||

#18  Since the guy is in California, and the victim is in Kansas, This is an interstate crime, and as such is a federal crime. There is a death penalty for capital murder.

The guy claimed since he did not pull the trigger, he's not responsible. What he is not aware of is that he used the SWAT as an weapon and as such he is fully responsible for the outcome.

As for the officer who did the actual shooting, he was most likely nervous (i.e. "the fog of war) and misunderstood the man moving his hands from his back as "drawing a weapon" and fired his gun without seeing an actual weapon. I would say that he violated the ROE. If he didn't (no such rule in place), then the entire SWAT team need to be disbanded until they received proper training.

At any rate, this was apparently a poorly trained SWAT team and should have never been dispatched.

This is an example of a 'Cluster F***'.

Iraq
Iraqi search teams find dozens of Izadi bodies in mass grave in Nineveh
[PRESSTV] An Iraqi politician says search teams have found a mass grave in the country’s northern province of Nineveh containing the bodies of dozen members of Izadi minority, who are believed to have been executed by Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
ISIS Lions of Islam when they were in control of an area there.

Haji Kendor told Arabic-language al-Ghad Press news agency on Friday that the mass grave contains the bodies of 80 elderly and disabled women and is located near the town of Sinjar, situated over 400 kilometers northwest of the capital Baghdad.

Kendor added some of the victims had been buried alive, noting that ISIS Lions of Islam buried the Izadi women inside in a fish farm, and the grisly discovery was made by local search teams.

Back in August 2014, ISIS Lions of Islam overran the town of Sinjar, killing, raping, and enslaving large numbers of Izadi Kurds.

The region was recaptured in November 2015, during an operation by Kurdish Peshmerga forces and Izadi fighters.

The Office of Kidnapped Affairs in the northern Iraqi city of Dohuk said earlier this year that around 3,500 Izadi Kurds were still being held captive by ISIS myrmidons, adding that a large proportion of the abductees were women and kiddies.

The Endowments and Religious Affairs Ministry of the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government announced in early August that ISIS’s genocide against Izadis had forced nearly 360,000 members of the minority to flee their hometowns, and another 90,000 had left Iraq and taken refuge in others countries.

It added that ISIS bandidos turbans have kidnapped 6,417 Izadi Kurds, including 1,102 women and 1,655 children, since 2014.

Additionally, 2,645 children have lost their first line of protection, and the number includes 220 kids whose parents are still being held captive.

Army warns US against ‘unilateral action’ in Pakistan
[DAWN] The military on Thursday warned the US against ’unilateral action’, saying that despite its desire for cooperation on Afghanistan, there could be no compromise on national respect and illusory sovereignty.

"The armed forces are working with friends and want to continue doing so, but there can be no compromise on our national honour. We do not want a conflict with our friends, but will ensure the security of Pakistain," Military spokesperson Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor told a media briefing, recalling that the country was being threatened with "unilateral action" by the US.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) chief spoke in both English and Urdu, in what appeared to be an effort to convey the institutional sentiment to an international audience.

Russia’s president signs law toughening terrorist recruitment sentences
[PRESSTV] Russian President Vladimir Putin
...Second and fourth President and sixth of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead...

turbans from Syria.

The approval came two days after a kaboom in a busy supermarket in Russia’s second-largest city, Saint Petersburg, which left 14 people maimed.

The law immediately raises the maximum sentence for the recruitment and financing of bandidos Death Eaters from 10 years to life.

Russia's State Duma, the lower house of parliament, passed the new law on December 14 and the upper chamber approved it on December 26.

Since September 2015, Moscow has been carrying out an aerial bombardment campaign against the positions of krazed killer turbans in Syria on an official request from the Damascus government.

Putin ordered Russian forces to begin withdrawing from Syria during a surprise visit to the war-ravaged country on December 11, as he declared victory over the ISIS Takfiri terrorist group there.

A day later, Russia’s FSB security service said former turbans in Syria were now a real threat after the defeat of ISIS, as many of them may be planning to return to Russia.

Putin declared that the Wednesday attack was "a terrorist act," warning armed criminals they could be "liquidated on the spot."

Russia announced on December 15 that it had dismantled a cell of ISIS in Saint Petersburg that was planning to carry out imminent terror attacks in the northern city.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Lebanese foreign minister denounced over Israel comments
[ARABNEWS] Lebanese politicians on Thursday criticized Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil over a television interview in which he said that Leb did not have an ideological problem with Israel and was not against it having security.

The comments, made to the al-Mayadin television channel during a lengthy interview on Tuesday, have just started attracting attention.

A former government minister called on Bassil to resign and a member of Parliament also criticized him.

Bassil’s office later said al-Mayadin had distorted his comments through its editing of the interview, without explaining how.

"We are not against Israel living in security," he was shown saying in a clip that was circulated widely in Leb on social media.

Social media sites showed a section of the interview with Bassil saying: "We do not reject the existence of Israel and its right to have security."

The declaration provoked reactions from politicians and media specialists, prompting a response from Bassil’s press office claiming that "what has been circulating is a partial section."

In the video, the news hound said to the foreign minister: "I’ll ask you a question, and I hope I do not get a diplomatic answer, maybe information if possible; do you think that normalization with Israel has become a reality, the normalization between some Arab countries and Israel?"

Bassil replied: "I want to tell you something. It is not an ideological issue for us. We do not reject the existence of Israel and its right to security. We say we want all peoples to live in security and that they recognize each other. The issue for us is not a blind case. We as people accept the others, and we have a disagreement with them, but what if the others do not accept you?"

Bassil’s press office said: "The media and social media have been circulating a partial section of an interview ... It is clear that the aim of the section, which was taken out of context, is to misrepresent the position of Bassil and distort it, which is a known position regarding Israel as a hostile entity which practices state terrorism
... any action taken by a non-Moslem state that constrains the violent impulses of Moslems or their allies ...
. It is also known who stands behind this campaign and who follows it to make it planned and programmed to attack the position of Bassil in the Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...

has denounced a UN statement on civilian casualties in the war-torn country as "biased" toward the rebels.

The coalition said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the UN needs to review the humanitarian work mechanism and the competence of its employees working in Yemen.

The fighting is futile and absurd, UN resident coordinator Jamie McGoldrick said.

He claimed that coalition Arclight airstrikes killed 109 civilians over the past 10 days, including 68 in one day in separate airstrikes.

The coalition said McGoldrick’s statement "creates a constant state of uncertainty about the information and data on which the UN relies and undermines its credibility."

Turki al-Maliki, the coalition front man, said the statement ignores the crimes being committed by the Houthis against the Yemeni people, namely the killings, kidnappings and arrests of hundreds of members of former President former President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Anthony Weiner had CLASSIFIED emails belonging to wife Huma Abedin on his laptop
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] At least five emails determined to be classified were found among 2,800 documents stored on a laptop belonging to Anthony Carlos Danger Weiner
...aka Hot Dog Tony, the remarkably offensive sex maniac six-term New York congressman who resigned in 2011, then decided everybody had forgotten by 2013, when he decided to run for mayor of New York City...
, whose then-wife Huma Abedin was deputy chief of staff to then-Secretary of State Perennial Presidential Campaigner Hillary Crooked Hillary Clinton
... former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, Conqueror of Benghazi, Heroine of Tuzla, formerly described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as The Thing That Wouldn't Go Away...
The State Department released hundreds of pages of materials Friday afternoon, including a total of eight pages classified at the 'confidential level,' the third most sensitive level the U.S. government uses.

The confidential classification level is applied to information whose unauthorized disclosure 'reasonably could be expected to cause damage to national security,'

The emails date from 2010, 2011 and 2012 and concern discussions with Middle East leaders including some from Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", and the Paleostinian Authority.

Large portions, including entire pages, were redacted before the documents' release.

Three of them were sent either to or from an address called 'BBB Backup,' which one email identifies as a backup of a Blackberry Bold 9700, presumably belonging to Abedin.
CNN adds:
Friday's release is in response to a Judicial Watch Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit seeking: "All emails of official State Department business received or sent by former Deputy Chief of Staff Huma Abedin from January 1, 2009 through February 1, 2013 using a non-'state.gov' email address."

Then-FBI Director James Comey testified earlier this year that "Somehow, her emails were being forwarded to Anthony Carlos Danger Weiner, including classified information by (Clinton's) assistant, Huma Abedin," he said.

But there was no indication that Abedin "had a sense that what she was doing was in violation of the law," Comey added, and Sherlocks couldn't prove any sort of criminal intent.

#5  Two points:

1) Eisenhower: As his Presidential papers are declassified, we are discovering President Eisenhower had a hidden talent - he spotted small problems and prevented them from becoming big ones. He didn't have to handle many crises because he the crises never arose in the first place.

2) Patton's sure-handedness stemmed from his knowledge of weapons and tactics. Whenever he stopped at an American position, he would check out the machinegun and antitank positions. It is easy to be decisive when you have a solid grasp of the details.

On the other hand, he tended to ignore logistical matters, thereby ensuring that his troops would run out of gasoline in front of the enemy.

Grand Mosque management to pilgrims: Don’t get carried away taking selfies
[ARABNEWS] The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque urged worshippers and pilgrims not to get carried away with taking photos or selfies inside Makkah’s Grand Mosque. Those who are interested in photography are requested to get an official permit.

Mashhour al-Mun’emi, the assistant under deputy for Grand Mosque services, told Arab News that the presidency urged worshippers to concentrate on performing their rituals rather than taking photographs.

Atiah al-Youssefi, professor of Islamic Law, said that the aim of banning photography at the Grand Mosque was to stop wasting time looking for the perfect angle for a better photograph or video, which could bother other worshippers and disturb the performance of their rituals.

This was especially true, he added, while the preparation of Zamzam well was underway. al-Youssefi noted that pausing at the starting point of tawaf (circling the Kaaba) could confuse and hinder the movement of other worshippers.

was acquitted Thursday. AFP has confirmed.

Ramat going by the AFP report was accused of supplying weapons to the jihadist group and assisting in the sale of looted goods from Boko Haram fighters. His lawyer Eugene Balemaken told AFP the accusations "did not correspond to reality". "He was therefore properly acquitted following the debates."

Sources said the former mayor regularly intervened before his arrest in several negotiations that resulted in the release of Boko Haram hostages.

Ramat could be released very soon, said Balemaken, who called the trial of his client as "unfair" because of his help with negotiations.

After serving 29 months in jail, RFI correspondent Ahmed Abba was acquitted on December 22 after being suspected of collaborating with Boko Haram and not passing on information to the authorities. He was released the following day.
