Iran slams 'duplicitous, opportunist' US support for protests
[PRESSTV] Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi has denounced US officials' "duplicitous and opportunist" support for recent gatherings in protest against economic conditions in some Iranian cities.

"The great Iranian nation regards the opportunist and duplicitous support of the American officials for certain gatherings over the recent days in some Iranian cities as nothing but [part of] the deceit and hypocrisy of the US administration," Qassemi said on Saturday.

He condemned the "cheap, worthless and invalid" remarks by US officials and said, "The Iranian people attach no value to the opportunistic remarks by American officials and [President Donald] Trump himself."

Iranians free to express criticism, stage protest: President Rouhani
[PRESSTV] Iran's President Hassan Rouhani says the Iranian people are completely free to express their criticism of the government or stage protests according to the Constitution and citizenship rights, and in a way that would lead to the improvement of the country's conditions.

Rouhani made the remarks while addressing a Cabinet session on Sunday as he pointed to recent gatherings in protest against economic conditions in a number of Iranian cities.

"We are a free nation and based on the Constitution and citizenship rights, people are completely free to express their criticism and even their protest," he said.
However,
there's more than one way to stuff a chicken...
he added that the manner of expressing criticism and protest must lead to the improvement of the country's conditions and people's lives.

He emphasized that the settlement of some problems in the country was "not easy and takes time," calling for cooperation between the Iranian government and nation to solve those problems.

The Iranian people have the right to voice their criticism with regard to all affairs, Rouhani said, adding, "We believe that the government and the country belong to the people and the people must properly express what they want."

Rouhani emphasized that criticism completely differed from violence or inflicting damage on public property, saying, "We must not allow an atmosphere to be created in the country under which supporters of the revolution and people will be concerned about their lives and security."

Since Thursday, groups of Iranian protesters have held rallies in several cities to voice their anger over rising prices and economic conditions.

Habibollah Khojastehpour, Lorestan Province's deputy governor for political and security affairs, said on Sunday that two people were killed during a protest rally in the western city of Dorood on Saturday, adding that Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
groups and foreign intelligence services appeared to be behind the killings.

Iran protests: Telegram and Instagram restricted
[BBC] Iran has moved to restrict social media networks that have been used to organise four days of anti-establishment protests.

The "temporary" restrictions on the apps Telegram and Instagram were imposed to "maintain tranquillity", state news agency Irib reports.

The protests have been the biggest show of dissent since huge rallies in 2009.

President Hassan Rouhani has said Iranians have the right to protest, but not cause disorder.

The protests began in the north-east as an outcry against economic hardship and rising prices, but turned political in many places, with slogans chanted against Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Mr Rouhani and Iran's interventionist foreign policy in the region.

In his first public comments since the demonstrations broke out, the Iranian president, speaking at a cabinet meeting, said that citizens were "completely free to make criticism and even protests".

But he added that the government would not tolerate any action that created "social disorder", the Iranian Students News Agency reported.

15-Year-Old Girl Stabbed to Death by ‘Child Migrant' in Drug Store
[Breitbart] A 15-year-old girl in the German town of Kandel was stabbed to death by her Afghan ex-boyfriend in a local drug store, shocking locals.

The attack occurred earlier this week and saw Afghan asylum seeker Abdul D. stab 15-year-old Mia repeatedly with a kitchen knife until customers were able to drag him off her and hold him until police arrived, Bild reports.

According to investigators, the incident came as a result of a dispute between the asylum seeker and the victim, who no longer wanted to be in a relationship with him. The parents of the victim also told police that Abdul D. had threatened their daughter earlier this month, and had told her he was going to "take care" of her.

Abdul came to Germany in April 2016 illegally claiming to be an unaccompanied minor seeking asylum. Investigators say they are in the process of trying to determine whether or not Abdul lied about his age when he entered the country.

Women are not men. They have very little in the way of in-group loyalty and teenage girls especially are attracted to confident, older, alpha males. In a continent dominated by beta cucks, that means mostly muslims, you'd as well to tell women to go against their genetic programming. Why do you so think muslims hold their women so close to their community's chest? They understand women are the most valuable and precious resource a tribe possesses.

#7  Abdul D claims to be 15. The girl's parents included him in family activities for the duration of the relationship. They were so concerned about his threats after their daughter broke up with him that they went to the police, who said there was nothing they could do.

I suspect they and many of their friends will vote AfD next time.

Trump: Let's Face It, The Media Has To Let Me Win In 2020 For The Sake Of Their Own Survival
...Mr. Trump said he believes members of the news media will eventually cover him more favorably because they are profiting from the interest in his presidency and thus will want him re-elected.

"Another reason that I’m going to win another four years is because newspapers, television, all forms of media will tank if I’m not there because without me, their ratings are going down the tubes," Mr. Trump said, then invoked one of his preferred insults. "Without me, The New York Times will indeed be not the failing New York Times, but the failed New York Times."

He added: "So they basically have to let me win. And eventually, probably six months before the election, they’ll be loving me because they’re saying, ’Please, please, don’t lose Donald Trump.’ O.K."

#2  The "swamp" is entrenched middle management. Consider the guy that POTUS/NYT Ownership installs over an organization. What is the first thing that you do? Ask to be briefed. And who briefs you? Entrenched middle management who controls the levers of power and knows where the bodies are buried. They simply lie and manipulate the information flow.

You have to have an independent way to gather information because it isn't worth asking a question if you can't determine the truth of the answer.

The FBI 7th floor is the swamp. If it was me, I would RIF them all.

Then focus on Homeland and DOJ middle management next. Silence is assent.

IDF reservists call to investigate US funding promoting draft-dodging
[Jpost] Reservists on Duty, an anti-BDS group in Israel penned a letter to Israeli Ambassador to Washington Ron Dermer calling on him to investigate sources of US funding which support organizations that promote-draft dodging in Israel.

The group called for the investigation following a letter published Thursday morning in which 63 youths from around the country openly declared their refusal to enlist in the IDF and encouraged other youth to do the same.

The letter, first published by Israeli daily Yedioth Aharonot, was addressed to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman, Education Minister Naftali Bennett and IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot.

In their letter to the Ambassador, obtained by The Jerusalem Post, the group wrote: "The organization that sponsored and supported the creation and signing of this letter is called ’Mesarvot,’ roughly translated as ’dodging.’ Shockingly enough, this organization is financed by an American based organization called RSN [Refuser Solidarity Network]."

According to the RSN website, the organization is a non-profit organization based in Washington DC that "provides a US base of support for those who refuse service in the Israeli military for reasons of political conscience."
I wonder if our old pal Soros is behind it?

President Trump pulls brakes on $13B Obama-backed rail-tunnel plan
[FOX] An Obama-era plan to have the federal government finance half of a $13 billion rail tunnel project ran into a red light Friday from the Trump administration.

The plan, proposed under President Barack Obama in 2015, includes revitalizing a deteriorating Amtrak tunnel connecting New Jersey to New York City, repairing damage to a dual-tunnel conduit, and reconstructing the New Jersey railroad network’s aging Portal Bridge, Crain’s New York Business reported.

Amtrak, which owns most of the rail tunnels and tracks between Boston and Washington, D.C., contends that the existing tunnel connecting New Jersey and New York City is damaged and could fail within 10 to 15 years, threatening daily rail transportation in the Northeast.

The original Obama-era plan called for costs to be split among New York state, New Jersey and the federal government.

Venezuelans Riot Over No Christmas Ham
BOGOTA - Colombia has shipped around 55 tons of ham to Venezuela after protests broke out over shortages of the traditional holiday staple, an official said Saturday.

The first 2 trucks of ham arrived in Venezuela on Friday night, a source from Colombia's national tax and customs office told AFP.

On Saturday, there were "2 other trucks ready to go," but awaiting final procedural approval, the source added, without specifying the amount of ham in that shipment.

The transport ministry said it had issued a firm a "special permit" to transport the ham to Barinas, western Venezuela.

Hundreds of Venezuelans took to the streets this week to protest that they had not received ham promised by the government as part of a subsidized food program.

President Nicolas Maduro blamed the lack of ham on an "international sabotage" orchestrated by Portugal.

Venezuelans are suffering severe shortages of food and medicine, as well as inflation which the IMF forecasts will exceed 2,300 percent in 2018.

The Pursuit of Goodness
[AccordingToHoyt] I suspect there have always been unwritten laws in society. Do this, don’t do that, that’s not the way to greet someone. In every society really.

But I think we’re living in a time of unique lack of codification. Which isn’t of course. There are rules, but they change suddenly and no one tells you.

No, I’m serious. As great (eh. Good at least) apes, we have and develop social scripts, and signals. This is normal.

But the great flowering of the crazy of the romantics ‐ back to the natural man, leaving under an oak which furnishes all our necessities and such rot ‐ exploding into the sixties with theories like "no frustration raising" in which it was believed if you didn’t discipline a child at all, they’d have no frustrations or repressions, and would therefore be a perfect angel has turned, as it moderated in expression (mostly because no-frustration children are destructive savages no one wants around) into "there are rules but we won’t tell you what they are.

Yes, this is very bad for neuro atypical people out there. Honestly, I think our plague of autistic spectrum disorders is mostly because our society is faux-unstructured. I suspect only about half the people can actually intuit the rules from things never said. The other half stumble around desperately looking for the rules, or give up on socializing in disgust.

But beyond that, it’s bad because it removes the definition of what it is to be "good" in a society.

If you read older books, there were very well defined ideas of goodness. Attending church, being cleanly, having a good, respectful marriage, working hard, practicing charity. It wasn’t exactly easy, but it was a clear and defined path.

The problem is most people want to be good. They want to fit whatever the society admires. But our society particularly since the sixties, but really since sometime in the nineteenth century (only with increasing vigor) has waged a war on hypocrisy, which means acting good when "you’re not really good" and as proof of not being really good anything that falls short of perfection is adjudicated: say a man who is married and faithful but looks at pictures of naked women.

From this, it turned into an ongoing, frontal assault on traditional definitions of good and the bourgeois virtues that built western civilization. If the people being thrifty and hard workers were "hypocrites" it followed you should live lives of slovenly laziness. If monogamy couldn’t be adhered to perfectly, it meant you should screw everything that moved, or even waved in the wind.

But the "Goodness" of this inversion of values can’t be maintained. For one, because it often leads to self-destruction, or the destruction of social groups. So most people preach this nonsense, while living lives of bourgeois conventionality.

This just results in confusing the roughly fifty percent who have to KNOW the rules.

...It might also destroy those people more adept at abstract thinking, and less adept at social thinking, because they discover the one thing that will get them viewed as "good": the constant mouthing of leftist platitudes. Or the screaming of them, to atone for their sin of being born to solid middle class.

The increasingly unhinged rants of leftist intellectuals are the equivalent of the Cathedrals of Europe only far less useful or aesthetically pleasing: they’re a way to claim goodness, even if you can’t live it in your daily life; to buy your way to heaven despite the common sins of humanity.
I'd say they substitute public "piety" for personal integrity: just like peasant wench raping, serf squeezing medieval nobility displayed public piety and claimed codes of chivalry.

It's said that concepts are merely platitudes until they cost you something, at which point they become principles. Going to candlelight vigils and "march for whatever" are among the things that come to mind as the former rather than the latter.

Uprising in Iran!! Video and images from social media the news is ignoring
[RS] This is so odd. There is an enormous uprising of the common people in Iran against the government, and the mainstream media is just sitting there with its thumb up its Obama and mostly ignoring what’s going on.

They’re burning down images of Khameini:

I think that people don’t understand that although Iran is one of the world’s largest supporters of terrorism, many Iranians absolutely despise the government, but they’ve been too afraid to speak out. With the failing economy, they’re finally coming out in big numbers…

Excellent point, sir. For myself, I hope and pray that this time the protesters dig in - that when the Basij are turned on them, they decide to take as many as they can with them - and that this time, the mullahs cower in fear:

-Short Attention Span Theater-
California Led U.S. with 490 UFO Sightings in 2017
[PJ] UFO sightings are nothing new. The Puritans reported strange sightings and lights in the sky as early as the 1600s. With the advent of movies about outer space and unidentified flying objects came even more sightings. The National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) has an entire website dedicated to the "collection and dissemination of objective UFO data." The organization curates reports of UFO sightings in the U.S. and Canada via a web form and a phone hotline, which has operated almost continuously since 1974. NUFORC logged a total of 4,655 sightings in 2017, down from the 2016 total of 5,619.

A recent report came from New Mexico on December 14. A woman reported that she and her husband saw a triangular object with bright green lights near Santa Fe. She claims they "saw an object flying across the Interstate in a southeasterly direction. It appeared triangular with bright green lights around its entire periphery."

"From my husband's perspective, it appeared larger than a full moon," she reported. "By the time it crossed my field of vision (I was in the passenger seat), it appeared slightly smaller than a full moon. It was perhaps several hundred feet in front and above us and appeared to be moving at about 100 mph or less. It seemed to be heading down and then it vanished."

NUFORC spoke with the witness via telephone and "found her to be very eloquent, and very sober-minded. We suspect that she is an excellent witness."

Economy
As Dow Sets Another Record High, Leftists Continue to Repeat the Same Old Tired Lies
[Townhall] The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained well over 25 percent for the year. It broke records unprecedented in history. It has only achieved these level of returns fifteen times since 1921, and several of those years followed major corrections.

This market was not in a correction cycle. The recovery following 2008 was a correction recovery. This market, for the last several years, was being held down by poor economic policies from the previous eight years. It was being choked out by excessive over-regulation and high corporate tax rates. According to the Tax Foundation, the United States had the 4th highest corporate tax rate on the planet. This was a market shackled, waiting to be set free.

Donald Trump will go down in history as the Great Emancipator of the American Economy, and it will last until our government overlords burden it once again. Yes, there will be profit-taking. Yes, there will be ups and downs. And yes, with every one of them, Leftists will denounce capitalism, the "rich", and scream for someone to "do something!"

That "something" always involves government interference in free markets, which ultimately leads to long-term economic decline. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Greek government applies for cancellation of asylum granted to Turkish soldier
[Ynet] The Greek government said on Saturday that it had filed a request for the cancellation of the asylum granted to a Ottoman Turkish soldier accused of involvement in last year's coup attempt.

Greece's administrative court of appeal will now look into the case.

's abortive July 2016 coup. Seven of them applied for asylum and were rejected, but have been kept in preventive custody.

Angered by a decision to grant asylum to the eighth soldier by the Greek asylum service committee, a panel of judges and experts, Turkey said earlier in the day that the move would affect bilateral relations and cooperation.

Athens said it was following its standing position regarding the eight soldiers, "as it has been repeatedly expressed, also in public", a government official said.

The Greek government has said that it does not support coup plotters and that the country's justice system is independent.

A Greek police official said the soldier who was granted asylum would be released from custody.

Egypt’s security forces kill three members of Hasm terrorist group in raid after interior ministry uncovers plot
[AlAhram] Egypt's interior ministry announced on Saturday that security forces had raided a hideout belonging to the Hasm
...Hasm (Decisiveness) and Liwaa el-Thawra (The Revolution Brigade) are the NeverSisi militant arms of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. They sprang into existence, fully formed, in October, 2016, probably inheriting personnel from previous MB armed factions, and apparently organized by Mohammed Kamel, who was responsible for MB special cells until he was killed by security forces in a hail of gunfire about the time the two groups appeared...
terrorist group at a farm on Korayemat road, near Atfih in the Giza province, killing three leading members of the group in a shootout.

"The farm was used as a base for plotting and committing terrorist actions and for manufacturing explosives. A cache of weapons and ammunition was seized," the ministry said in a statement.

"Under the framework of proactive security efforts against terrorist groups, the ministry had uncovered a plan by Hasm to commit hostile actions that target touristic and other vital facilities, as well as police and armed forces, during Christmas celebrations in an attempt to cause instability and portray a negative image of the security situation in Egypt."

Ten other members of that group who are involved in the terrorist plot were caught in the governorates of Fayoum and Qalyubia at locations also containing ammunitions and other tools, which were uncovered by police.

The ministry added that information confirmed the involvement of those elements in firing upon security forces on a road near Fayoum, 60 km (40 miles) south of Cairo, in July 2017. That attack resulted in the killing of one security member and the injury to another, the statement reads.

"Information also revealed that those locked away

received training on using arms and manufacturing explosives at a location in Egypt's Western Desert in the Fayoum governorate, where plotters had listed a number of touristic and security spots in preparation for a planned Christmas attack, following the orders of a runaway Moslem Brüderbund figure in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

," the ministry added.
In Turkey? How very interesting.
The ministry announcement comes one day after a gunman killed several people in an attack on a church in Helwan, south of Cairo, before being shot and captured by police.

Friday's attacker in Helwan attempted to drive through security forces outside the Mar Mina church armed with a machine gun, ammunition and a bomb that he intended to detonate in the church.

The ministry said he killed two people when he opened fire on a shop, before heading to the church where he rubbed out seven people, including a policeman.

Erica Garner, Black Lives Matter activist, dies aged 27
[THEGUARDIAN] Black Lives Matter activist Erica Garner has died, after a week in hospital following a heart attack. She was 27. Garner was the daughter of Eric Garner, a man who died in a police chokehold in New York in 2014.

said that although Garner "didn’t ask to be an activist, she responded to the personal tragedy of seeing her father die ... by becoming a leading proponent for criminal justice reform and for an end to police brutality".
That’s certainly one perspective...
Announcing Garner’s death in New York on Saturday morning, the Rev civil rights hustler Al Sharpton
...Tawana Brawley's spiritual advisor...
said she was "a warrior to the end" and said "her heart was broken when she didn’t get justice ... the [heart] attack just dealt with the pieces that were left."

Four months ago, Garner gave birth to a son who was named for her father. She also had an eight-year-old daughter. In a recent interview with the webshow Like it or Not, she talked about the difficulties of life as a parent and an activist. "I’m struggling right now from the stress of everything," she said, "because the system, it beats you down."

Sunni jihadists claim they blew up Iran oil pipeline
[IsraelTimes] Online video says 'operation was conducted to inflict losses on the economy of criminal Iranian regime'

A Sunni jihadist group on Saturday claimed to have blown up an oil pipeline in Iran’s southern Khuzestan province, the scene of other attacks by Arab separatists. Iranian authorities have not acknowledged any such attack.

An online video posted by Ansar al-Furqan claimed the attack and showed what it described as a pipeline near Omidiyeh.

The US-based SITE Intelligence Group quoted the video on Saturday as saying: "This operation was conducted to inflict losses on the economy of criminal Iranian regime."

SITE said the attack by Ansar al-Furqan, if confirmed, would be their first in oil-rich southern Iran.

Iran has faced low-level separatist unrest from Kurds in its northwest, the Baluch in its east and Arabs in its south since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it.
has announced a six-month state of emergency in two of the country's states.

On Saturday, Bashir issued a decree installing the state of emergency in North Kordofan and Kasala.

The announced measures need to undergo parliamentary approval, within two weeks, before coming into force.

According to local media, the measures are part of ongoing disarmament campaigns near Darfur and Blue Nile.

Seven other conflict-ridden states on the country are already under a state of emergency, five of which make up the Darfur region, where government troops have been battling hard boyz since 2003.

Dozens of anti-Assad militants evacuated from southern Syria
[Ynet] Militants, including some associated with al-Qaeda, are bussed away with their families from the area bordering the Israeli Golan Heights in an agreement between Assad and the rebels, returning control of the strategic area to forces supporting the Assad regime.

Dozens of Syrian faceless myrmidons and their families departed aboard buses from an area besieged by government forces near the Golan Heights early Saturday, part of a deal to clear yet another district from holy warriors.

The government-controlled Syrian Central Military Media said 153 people, including 106 fighters, left the village of Beit Jin early Saturday toward the southern province of Daraa.

The Ibaa news agency of the al-Qaeda-linked Levant Liberation Committee said six buses carrying fighters and their families arrived in rebel-held parts of Daraa province.

On Friday, Syria's state news agency SANA said some 300 al-Qaeda-linked faceless myrmidons and their families would be sent to Daraa and the northwestern province of Idlib.

The evacuation allows the government to reassert control over Beit Jin near the Golan Heights that were captured by Israel from Syria during the 1967 Mideast war.

Somalia Arrests 42 Soldiers For Raiding Senator’s Home
[RADIOSHABELLE] A total of 42 soldiers were placed in durance vile
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
Saturday for raiding the home of a senator who claimed that it was done by troops "trained by the U.A.E."

Somali security forces raided the residence of Senator Abdi Hassan Awale Qaybdiid in capital Mogadishu.

Abdi Qaybdiid was not at home during the raid.

The senator told the media that soldiers rammed through his front door and forced their way inside and conducted an illegal search.

"Government forces ’unlawfully’ entered my residence. They rammed the front door with a vehicle, then armed guards, disarmed the guards inside.

"I was at work when this happened," he added.

Somali President Mohammed Abdulahi Farmaho ordered chief of Somali army to investigate the attack on the senator’s house.

The president vowed that anyone involved would be brought to justice.

The government later announced that 42 soldiers, including two officers, were tossed into the calaboose in connection with the attack on the house of senator, according to state-run media SONNA.

Minister of Information Abdirahman O. Osman said an investigation has been launched to find out the reason behind the raid on the senator’s house.

"I was called by the head of National Intelligence and Security Agency [NISA] in Mogadishu, Saadiq John, who informed me that troops trained by the U.A.E. were responsible for the raid," Abdi Qaybdiid told the media.

On Oct. 17, Somali security forces arrested a former presidential candidate Abdirahman Abdishakur during a raid on his home in Mogadishu but later released him.

ODS Movement looks to popularize one-state solution for Palestine
[ARABNEWS] The Popular Movement for One Democratic State in Historic Paleostine (ODS) is stepping up efforts to increase the awareness and the popularity of its cause.

ODS front man Radi Jarai told Arab News that his movement wants to make the concept "much more accessible and understandable to people."

Jarai, an active member of Paleostine’s nationalist Fatah party who has spent years in Israeli prisons, said the movement is currently made up of academics and thinkers, so, "We need to make the idea understandable to the common person so that it begins to gain traction."

The board of the movement met in Istanbul in early December and agreed on a plan to popularize its credo. "This week, we will tape a number of episodes to be broadcast on Paleostine TV with the hope of triggering discussions about a democratic state," Jarai told Arab News.

Lectures are scheduled at Bethlehem and al-Quds universities, along with a major conference in Ramallah on March 16.

ODS was founded in March 2013 and welcomes both Jews and Paleostinians as members.

"There are Israeli Jewish groups that support our goal but have chosen not to join us at the moment," Jarai said.

Yoav Haifawi, an Israeli activist and publisher of the Free Haifa blog, told Arab News that he is a longtime supporter of the one-state concept.

"The biggest obstacle we face is that Israel is a privileged country for Jews. Therefore, as a colonial state that gives privileges through discrimination, the decolonization of Paleostine cannot happen as long as Israel is strong and Paleostinians are weak."

Uri Davis, a Jewish member of Fatah, told Arab News that the Paleostine Liberation Organization (PLO) is the representative of the Paleostinian people.

Al Shabaab Attack Two Police Camps In Ijara

... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
Lions of Islam have set on fire two police camps in Ijara, in the latest attack from the Somalia-based bad boy group.

The attackers also destroyed the main communication equipment used in the town before speeding off with a police land cruiser which is yet to be recovered.

A senior police officer briefed on the matter has told Capital News beat that no casualty was reported in the attack that occurred at 2 am.

Heavy security deployments have been deployed to hunt the Lions of Islam thought to have escaped to Boni forest or to neighboring Somalia.

"We have officers tracking them with the help of the military because we need to get the police vehicle back," the officer speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
said.

The attackers also broke into shops in the town and stole several items.

"They destroyed property but luckily there is no casualty, but we suspect some of them must have escaped with injuries after a shootout with police," another officer said.

Friday with IDF troops facing Palestinian rioters on Gaza border
[Ynet] Behind earthen dams are IDF fighters who are careful not to raise their heads as tire-burning Paleostinian rioters are catapulting marbles at them just as dangerous as bullets. When the rioters make a run for the border fence, the IDF's snipers go into action. Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", fighters in military positions nearby look on but hold their fire, trying to avoid escalation. Ron Ben-Yishai joined Golani and Duvdevan soldiers on their regular Friday activity - a cat and mouse game with the Paleostinians.

As we travel towards the border fence, we see a pillar of thick black smoke rising to the heavens. "They're burning tires," the scout tells me as he suppresses a smile. "Burning tires look great on camera."

No plans to pause US-South Korea military exercises: Mattis
[PRESSTV] US Defense Secretary James Mattis says the United States does not plan to pause a joint annual military exercise with South Korea during the upcoming Winter Olympics in the Asian country.

South Korea will host the Olympics in February amid rising tensions with North Korea.

Seoul and Washington usually hold their two annual military drills, called Key Resolve and Foal Eagle, in March and April, with some 17,000 American troops and more than 300,000 South Korean soldiers participating in the exercises.

Pyongyang is highly critical of those exercises, considering them preparations to invade the North. In response, it has been developing its weapons programs.

Earlier this month, North Korean state-run media described a joint exercise between the US and South Korea as a naval blockade against the North and warned that it would take "merciless self-defensive" measures.

Around 10pm on Saturday, Detective Branch (DB) arrested him from Rampura Bridge area, DB Joint Commissioner Abdul Baten said.

"We arrested him on Saturday night. We will give you details on Sunday morning," he said.

A source at DB said Sadat was shown arrested in a vandalism case filed at Ramna cop shoppe in 2015. On Sunday morning, he would be sent to court.

Sadat, a BNP executive committee member and the managing director of ABN Group, was allegedly picked up by a group of men in a microbus on August 22.

"All we have heard is in the media. Police have not told us anything. We are trying to find out what is going on," she said.

"Seven or eight people identifying themselves as law enforcement picked him up in a microbus. We have had no trace of him since," she added.

Izadyar funeral attackers were transported in black mirrored vehicles: Noor
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Chief Executive of Jamiat-e-Islami Ata Mohammad Noor claims that the suicide bombers who detonated themselves in Salim Izadyar’s funeral ceremony were transported to the attack area in black mirrored vehicles.

Noor made the latest claims during a press conference in Balkh governor’s office as he assumed his work as an ordinary governor despite his resignation was signed by President Ghani nearly two weeks ago.

He said the suicide bombers who detonated themselves among the funeral participants of Salim Izadyar were shifted in vehicles having black mirrors.

The former governor of Balkh province went on to claim that the main target of the attack was to wipe out the leadership of Jamiat-e-Islami.

Noor blamed the leaders of the government of national unity for hatching the plot to eliminate the Jamiat party leaders.

A coordinated suicide attack rocked Kabul city earlier in June as scores of people had gathered in the funeral ceremony of Salim Izadyar, the son of the deputy house speaker of the Afghan Senate House, who was killed during the rallies organized to protest against the attacks and failure of the government and security institutions to ensure security for the people.

The Afghan intelligence had then said the directorate has credible information suggesting that the attacks were plotted and carried out by the Haqqani network based in Pakistan.

Ayesha Gulalai told to sit behind stage occupied by men to show respect for tribal customs
[DAWN] MNA Ayesha Gulalai was not allowed to sit on a stage occupied by her male counterparts when she arrived at a protest on Saturday to register her voice against the proposed merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, forcing her to eventually leave in disappointment.

Gulalai had wanted to join the protesters from Fata, who instead told to her take a seat behind the stage. The organisers explained that this was "in line with tribal customs and traditions".

The politician, who plans to launch her own political party, was seen trying to reason with the organisers ‐ which also included members of the PML-N backed JUI-Fazl ‐ for half an hour, but was repeatedly told that she would not be allowed on stage.

The federal politician reluctantly obliged for a while, but eventually departed.

Commies kidnap deputy police chief in Cotabato
[PhilStar] Communist militants seized the deputy police chief of President Roxas town in North Cotabato late Thursday. Menardo Cui was off-duty and drinking with friends in the town proper when the insurgents arrived, herded him at gunpoint to their vehicle, and left.

The military and the provincial police have launched a search for the group that kidnapped Cui. There is a strong presence of the New People’s Army in North Cotabato's neighboring Magpet, President Roxas and Arakan towns.

Provincial police spokesman Bernard Tayong on Friday said intelligence agents are trying to identify the militants that seized Cui. Officials of the army’s 39th Infantry Brigade are certain Cui’s abductors are NPA guerrillas.

Regional military spokesman Capt. Silver Belvis said they have enlisted the help of traditional community elders in Magpet, President Roxas and Arakan in their search for Cui and his captors.

The NPA reportedly has a list of people targeted for assassination. The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), during its 49th anniversary last Tuesday, provided the NPA with the targets. The CPP said the NPA should concentrate its attacks in eastern Mindanao and then in Luzon and the Visayas regions.

Israeli jets strike Hamas post in Gaza Saturday night in response to Friday shelling
[IsraelTimes] IDF accuses Iran of pushing Israel and terror groups to war, 'playing with the lives of Gazoo residents,' by supplying mortar shells to Gazoo terror groups

Israeli jets on Saturday night carried out a second round of Arclight airstrikes in southern Gazoo in retaliation for three mortar shells fired at Israel on Friday.

The Israeli Air Force struck a Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", post in the coastal enclave, according to a statement from the IDF just before midnight.

Following the retaliatory raid, the army accused Iran of attempting to spark a war between Israel and Gazoo terror groups and putting the lives of Paleostinians in danger.

"The serious fire on Friday proved again that Iran, through rogue and holy warrior terrorist groups, is working to deteriorate the regional situation, is playing with the lives of Gazoo residents, and may lead the Strip to an escalation [of hostilities] after years of quiet," the IDF said.

Earlier on Saturday, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman said the three mortar shells were supplied by Iran to terrorist groups in Gazoo. He described the fire on Friday as a "grave act."

Speaking to Hadashot News’ "Meet the Press," Liberman said the Islamic Theocratic Republic has supplied such weaponry to a number of terror groups in the Gazoo Strip in the past, and therefore it was "too early" to identify the exact source of the shelling.

Teacher fired after students exposed to classical art nipples
[NEWS.HJNEWS] Lincoln Elementary School art teacher Mateo Rueda had no idea what was in store for his career when he wrapped up a lesson Dec. 4 by telling students to look through some art postcards in the classroom library for examples of color usage in notable paintings.

The cards, which were part of an educational package called "The Art Box" produced by Phaidon publishing, were placed in the library before Rueda began working at the Hyrum school. He knew the set portrayed a wide variety of classic artworks, but he has since said he was not aware that three or four of the 100 pieces featured in the box showed nudity.

Before the week was out, Rueda would find himself at the center of a controversy at the school, would be contacted by police after someone filed a classroom pornography complaint against him, and would eventually be out of a job.

The situation came to light Wednesday when The Herald Journal published a letter from the mother of one of Rueda’s students complaining about the art teacher’s dismissal and praising his work with students.

She also let her feelings be known on Facebook, where her posts gained wide circulation among local school parents and educators.

Cache County School District officials have declined comment on the matter, noting that this is "an ongoing personnel issue."

However,
the man who has no enemies isn't anybody and has never done anything...
one district official who asked not to be identified said that Rueda’s termination had more to do with the teacher’s interaction with students after the students noticed the nudes than it did with the actual pictures themselves.

Parent Venessa Rose Pixton said this was the nature of a complaint she lodged with the school after learning about events of that day from her 11-year-old son, who was in Rueda’s class.

"It wasn’t the pictures so much that really bothered me; it was the method in which he went about it afterward," Pixton told The Herald Journal, though contending in the same interview that she thinks the teacher shirked his responsibility by not reviewing the pictures thoroughly before allowing children to access them.

"My son felt that Mr. Mateo belittled them," Pixton said. "He said Mr. Mateo even told the class ’There’s nothing wrong with female nipples. You guys need to grow up and be mature about this.’"

Rueda flatly denies he said this or took such a tone.

"No, that did not happen," he said this week. "I did say that when you grow up, you’re going to find yourselves going to museums or to places where unavoidably there’s going to be nudity."

Parent Kamee Jensen, who wrote the letter to the editor defending Rueda, said neither the pictures nor the teacher’s comments upset her daughter.

"The school sent out an email to parents asking if children were upset by what happened in class. I asked my daughter if she ever felt uncomfortable, and she said no. She was just very upset that her teacher was in trouble," Jensen said.

during an operation.

"Balochistan

along with Intelligence agencies conducted IBOs in Musa colony and Sangan areas. An Afghan national suspected NDS controller apprehended," the Pak military said in a statement.

The statement further added "In Sangan FC recovered weapons and ammunition including explosives and communication equipment. In de-weaponising campaign residents of Sibbi, Talli and Dera Murad Jamali voluntarily deposited illegal weapons to FC."

This is not the first time an Afghan national is being arrested on charges of working with the Afghan security institutions or having links with the terror groups.

On the other hand, the Afghan security institutions have also made similar claims in the past.

The Afghan intelligence said late in August that an agent of the Pak military intelligence, inter services intelligence (ISIS), has been arrested by the security forces in Kabul as he was planning an attack on the major Pul-e-Charkhi prison.

The Afghan intelligence, national directorate of security (NDS), said the man was detained during an operation from Kabul city.

A statement by NDS said the detained suspect has been identified as Allah Noor who is originally a resident of Quetta city of Pakistain.

The detained agent confesses in a video published by NDS saying he wanted to have a role in the attack on Pul-e-Charkhi prison.

He also admits his involvement in organizing meetings between the ISI officials and Taliban

10 ‘left-wing’ parties join hands to cobble alliance
[DAWN] In their maiden meeting to form an ’alliance of the left,’ the leadership of 10 progressive and left-wing parties on Friday agreed to work together in the future and formed an eight-member committee to find a way for the formation of an alliance.

In a communiqué that was issued to the media after the meeting, the leaders presented a list of demands. The demands included recovery of all the missing persons, following the due process if they had committed any crime; sending back immigrants colonists to their countries since the mischievous elements took their cover; protection of minority girls from the hooligans who were using the name of religion; regulation of sugar mills mafia; restoration of tenancy rights to till the protected forest land in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa; withdrawal of the unjust criminal cases against farmers of Hashtnagar and Okara Military Farms and their release and restoration of student unions.

The meeting rejected the election reforms bill passed by the parliament and demanded that the reforms might be reframed according to the petition filed by the Awami Workers Party (AWP) in the Supreme Court.

The meeting hosted by the AWP deliberated on the current economic and political situation and agreed that the mainstream political parties of the ruling class had miserably failed to present the solution to the growing economic and political crises in the country.

"In our view, corruption is an integral part of bourgeois system which needs to be replaced by an alternative system. And that alternative is socialism," said the communiqué.

The participants of the meeting said a vast majority of Pak population was still living under feudalism. The ruling classes were using religion to camouflage their exploitation and suppress the narrative of the social forces striving for a real socioeconomic change and this practice was exacerbating trends of fundamentalism, extremism and intolerance.

"Therefore, we resolve hereby to launch a concerted struggle against the flowing anti-people trends in the country," the parties announced. They made a pledge to launch a campaign against feudalism and fanaticism and support workers, farmers and tenants, work for supremacy of the parliament against the paradigm of a security state, establish Pakistain as a multicultural country so that every nationality might have full control over their resources, ensure gender equality with minorities, reconstitute a state on the principle of separation of state from religion, establish a socialist economy with no distinction of class in the education system founded on scientific lines, free and fair access of all the citizens with constitutional guarantee to shelter, employment, education and healthcare system, ensure a positive and non-aligned foreign policy, friendly economic and political relations with all neighbouring countries based on the principle of noninterference.

Palestine recalls envoy for sharing stage with Hafiz Saeed
Yes, that was one of those brave choices.
[DAWN] Paleostine has recalled its envoy to Pakistain after India objected to his appearance in a public meeting on Al Quds along with Jamaat-ud-Dawa
...the front organization of Lashkar-e-Taiba...
(JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed
...founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba and its false-mustache offshoot Jamaat-ud-Dawa. The United Nations declared the JuD a terrorist organization in 2008 and Hafiz Saeed a terrorist as its leader. Hafiz, JuD and LeT are wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Pak intel apparatus, so that amounted to squat...
A statement by the Paleostinian foreign ministry said: "The minister of foreign affairs and expatriates under the direct instructions of the president of the state of Paleostine has decided to recall the Paleostinian ambassador to Pakistain immediately."

It said that the envoy’s participation "in a mass rally in solidarity with Jerusalem... in the presence of individuals accused of supporting terrorism is an unintended mistake, but not justified".

Ambassador Walid Abu Ali had on Friday attended the gathering in Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh under the banner of Difa-e-Pakistain Council, a grouping of dozens of jihadi parties, in support of the Paleostinian cause. JuD, which is the leading party in the alliance, had hosted the ’Tahaffuz-e-Baitul Muqddas’ rally.

Besides speaking on Al Quds, leaders at the rally had lashed out at India for its oppressive actions to subdue the uprising in the occupied valley.

"We consider it our prime responsibility to liberate Kashmire from India. We will free Kashmire in fulfillment of (Mohammad Ali) Jinnah’s dream," Hafiz Saeed had said on that occasion.

The Paleostinian envoy had been active after President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
decided to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel coordinating with political and religious parties’ reaction in Pakistain over the American move. A few weeks back, he had visited Army Chief Gen Qamar Bajwa, who had told him that Pakistain viewed Kashmire and Paleostinian disputes similarly and both issues had "public, moral and political" support of the people of the country.

Paleostinian envoy’s pictures with Hafiz Saeed, which were carried by the media, were noticed in New Delhi. The Indian government summoned the Paleostinian ambassador in New Delhi to the ministry of external affairs to receive the demarche over Mr Ali’s participation in the rally.

"Government of India has strongly conveyed to the Paleostinian side that the Paleostinian ambassador’s...association with terrorist Hafiz Saeed, who is proscribed by the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
, at an event in Rawalpindi on 29.12.2017, is unacceptable. The concerns were conveyed both in New Delhi to the Paleostinian ambassador and in Ramallah to the minister of foreign affairs and expatriates, state of Paleostine," the Indian ministry said in a statement.

As per the Indian statement, the Paleostinian envoy assured that Paleostinian Authority stood with India "in the war against terrorism, and will not engage with those who commit acts of terror against India". More importantly, the Indian government was shortly communicated that Abu Ali was being recalled.

India was among the countries that voted in favour of a UN resolution that effectively rejected Mr Trump’s move and asked member states not to establish diplomatic missions in Jerusalem.

When contacted by Dawn, Ambassador Ali said he would not comment on the decision.

US to deny military aid worth $255 million
[HINDUSTANTIMES] The Trump administration on Friday announced the United States will deny Pakistain military aid amounting to $255 million as it expects Islamabad to take decisive action "against gunnies and turbans on its soil".

"The United States does not plan to spend the $255 million in FY 2016 in Foreign Military Financing for Pakistain at this time," said a spokesperson of the President’s National Security Council in a statement to Hindustan Times.
Oh my. It turns out President Trump is keen on meaningful consequences, especially when they contribute to reducing his nation’s bottom line.
"The President has made clear that the United States expects Pakistain to take decisive action against gunnies and turbans on its soil, and that Pakistain’s actions in support of the South Asia Strategy will ultimately determine the trajectory of our relationship, including future security assistance.

"The Administration continues to review Pakistain’s level of cooperation."

The statement reflected and sealed the administration’s complete disillusionment with Pakistain, which had sought to brazenly disregard the explicit warnings issued by President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
personally and leading members of his cabinet, such as secretaries James Mattis and Rex Tillerson.

"This could be the severest blow dealt to Islamabad by this administration if it indeed decided to withhold it," said a leading US expert on Pakistain, who did not want to be identified. "There is more coming," the expert added.

The amount, $255 million, is left over from $1.1 billion aid earmarked for Pakistain in 2016, and which included non-military aid as well. It was cleared for handing over in August, just days before it would lapsed as unspent money.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syrian forces advance towards last jihadist stronghold
[DAWN] Syrian regime forces advanced against jihadists Saturday on the edge of the northwestern province of Idlib, the last outside government control, a monitor and the state news agency said.
... and if you can't believe the state news agency who can you believe?
Government and allied forces backed by Russian warplanes have since Monday been fighting mostly jihadist fighters in an area straddling the border between Idlib and Hama provinces.

The fighting, which could signal the start of a major offensive to seize Idlib province from rebels dominated by a former Al Qaeda affiliate, escalated on Thursday.

On Saturday, regime troops advanced, seizing several villages and surrounding areas, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britannia-based war monitor, said.

State news agency SANA said regime forces had taken control of five villages, areas and "strategic hills" in the northeast of Hama province.

An AFP correspondent said civilians continued to flee areas near the battle zone, heading north towards the bustling provincial capital of Idlib with their belongings piled high on pick-up trucks.

Since Thursday, the festivities have killed 32 soldiers and allied members of paramilitary units, as well as 29 rebels from Islamist groups or from former Al Qaeda affiliate Fateh al-Sham
...formerly al-Nusra, the current false nose and mustache of al-Qaeda in the Levant, now something else...
, the Observatory said.

Twenty-one civilians have also died.

Government forces' first aim to take control of the southeast of Idlib province, Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman said.

This would allow the regime to have full control of a road that links the capital Damascus to the government-held second city of Aleppo.

Jirga rape case
[DAWN] AS illegal instruments that perpetuate violence against women because of their heinous ’verdicts’, jirgas (or panchayats) are gravely detrimental to women’s lives. Despite federal and provincial laws outlawing this kind of parallel adjudication system, the state has failed to clamp down on the latter, which is why jirga justice thrives. Last week, reports revealed the disturbing extent of impunity associated with the jirga system when it emerged that a married woman was raped for more than a month by three influential panchayat members in Tandlianwala in Faisalabad
...formerly known as Lyallpur, the third largest metropolis in Pakistain, the second largest in Punjab after Lahore. It is named after some Arab because the Paks didn't have anybody notable of their own to name it after...
. Her in-laws trusted the panchayat with taking the woman to her premarital home on the promise her parents would organise a rukhsati ceremony. Instead, these ’arbitrators’ allegedly kidnapped and raped her. Marrying without her father’s approval was tantamount to ’dishonouring’ her community, and so this woman was ’punished’ by the jirga members. Whatever the reason for this crime, the latter must be investigated so that the victim receives justice. Jirga members sanctioning barbaric violence in the garb of punishment must know in no uncertain terms that they will be tried as criminals and sentenced if found guilty. Although it has been more than a decade since the 2002 jirga decision that led to Mukhtaran Mai’s gang rape as retribution for her brother’s transgression, women’s bodies continue to be bartered as they pay the price for crimes committed by others; most suffer ’Dire Revenge’ rape or are killed for ’honour’.

Here, reforming judicial processes to ensure accessibility so that communities do not resort to parallel justice systems is imperative. The state must not outsource dispute management and justice to jirgas because this is akin to handing over women’s rights to regressive elements. Instead, strengthening the offices of the federal and provincial ombudsmen will preserve the sanctity of the law. Though more crimes of a sexual nature are reported because women are breaking their silence, the process to reverse the undercurrents of misogyny is agonisingly slow. Change will only come if the state becomes an enforcer of the law.

Iraq
Newspaper: Iraq heading towards U.S.-militia confrontations
Is it about to get educational over there?
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraq is most probably going to witness a clash between U.S. forces deployed there and Iran-backed militias, a newspaper has predicted.

Lebanese newspaper al-Akhbar, which is close to Shia militia Hezbollah, said Saturday that it is possible that "festivities will erupt between U.S. troops and Islamic resistance factions during 2018", attributing its speculations to "the American expansion and attempts to reoccupy Iraq".

"The provocative U.S. troops presence in Iraq could impose a confrontation with resistance factions backed by Iran," according to the report.

It said the possibility raises a number of questions, including whether Iraqis will accept a "return to U.S. occupation under a new slogan, such as "international coalition, advisers and security firms". It wondered whether those factions were ready to " put down arms for the sake of electoral interests".

The Pentagon said in November it maintains nearly 8000 troops in Iraq.

U.S. forces withdrew from Iraq in 2011, ending a presence since 2003 when they invaded the country to topple late president Saddam Hussein.

But the U.S. led an international coalition to back Iraqi forces in its war against IS since the emergence of the murderous Moslem group in 2014 and until its defeat this month.

Also contributing to the campaign were the Iran-backed Popular Mobilization Forces, a Shia force that was recognized as a national force last year.

Many PMF leaders are recurrently quoted urging a U.S. troops pullout, and labelling them as enemy forces.

Demonstrators attacked a town hall in the Iranian capital Saturday as protests spilled into a third night despite government warnings against any further "illegal gatherings" and moves to cut off the internet on mobile phones.

Unverified videos on social media appeared to show thousands marching through the western cities of Khorramabad, Zanjan and Ahvaz, while reports spread rapidly that several people had been rubbed out by police in the town of Dorud. According to al-Arabiya, three Iranian protesters were killed by the Revolutionary Guards in the central Iran town.
