FBI Director Comey provides San Bernardino terrorist update
[Examiner] FBI Director James Comey said Wednesday that the pair of suspects in last week's San Bernardino shooting were radicalized at least two years ago.

"San Bernardino involved two killers who were radicalized for quite a long time before their attack," he told the Senate Judiciary Committee. "In fact, our investigation to date, which I can only say so much about at this point, indicates that they were actually radicalized before they started dating each other online."

"As early as the end of 2013, they were talking to each other about jihad and martyrdom before they became engaged and married and lived together in the United States," he said.

Comey also said investigators are struggling to gather information about domestic terrorists because of restrictive privacy policies. Comey said encryption has become part of the "statecraft" of the Islamic State.

San Bernardino Shooters Practiced Attack a Year in Advance
San Bernardino terror couple Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik spent at least a year preparing for their terror attack, NBC News has learned, practicing at a local gun range and making financial plans for their family after their deaths.
So not sudden jihadis. Makes the trip to the Middle East to procure a 'wife' look more and more like an ingenious method to bring in a co-conspirator and fellow shooter.
And the husband may have discussed an attack as many as three years ago, law enforcement sources said Tuesday.

Two sources said Farook and Malik had practiced their shooting skills at a Riverside, California-area gun range for a year or more before last Wednesday's attack on a holiday office party. They killed 14 people and wounded 21 more with firearms at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino.

Counterterrorism officials also told NBC News that Farook and Malik were making preparations for some time to "take care of both grandma and the baby." The couple lived in a Redlands, California residence with their 6-month-old daughter and Farook's 62-year-old mother, Rafia Farook. They left their daughter with Rafia Farook on the morning of the attack.

Investigators are examining a $28,500 deposit made to Farook's bank account in the weeks before the Dec. 2 rampage. A U.S. counterterrorism official said that he didn't have details on the transfer, but that it "would be consistent with them making preparations for grandma and the kid."
You may now bet your last dollar that our government will 1) let grandma keep the cash and 2) give her welfare benefits 'for the sake of the child'...
"They had purposely thought through that problem," said the official. "There were other indications of preparations."

Reuters reported that the loan to Farook was made by the online lender Prosper. In a statement, Prosper said that the company is "prohibited by law from disclosing any non-public, personally identifiable information regarding any loan originated through our platform."

"All loans originated through the Prosper platform are subject to all identity verification and screening procedures required by law, including U.S. anti-terrorism and anti-money laundering laws," the spokesperson said. "Like all Americans, Prosper is shocked and saddened by recent events in San Bernardino."
Shocked enough to help law enforcement?
And a senior law enforcement official told NBC News Tuesday that FBI investigators have been told that Farook discussed staging an attack in California as early as 2012.

The official said investigators don't yet know what to make of the claim, although they say it may bolster their growing suspicion that Farook was radicalized long before he returned from Saudi Arabia last year with his wife.
He went to Soddy-controlled Arabia to get someone who would help him with the job. We're going to discover, as time goes on, that this was an operation that was both opportunistic -- Farook fell into the hands of ISIS -- and at the same time well planned.
The latest revelations come after NBC News reported Monday that federal investigators are interviewing a neighbor of Farook and Malik who bought two of the four guns that were used in the massacre. That man, Enrique Marquez — who NBC News has learned is an in-law of Farook — had converted to Islam about three or four years ago, according to the son of the imam at the Islamic Center of Riverside.
And went to the same armory mosque, where introductions were made and instructions passed down...
Marquez, along with Farook and Malik, attended the mosque, officials have said. In 2014, records show, Marquez married a woman named Mariya Chernykh — the sister of Tatiana Farook, who is married to Syed Rizwan Farook's brother, Syed Raheel Farook.
Are the sisters from Chechnya?
Both Tatiana and Syed Raheel Farook were witnesses at the ceremony, according to public records.

Enrique Marquez and Mariya Chernykh also listed their home address as the same one belonging to Syed Raheel Farook and his father.

Muhammed Kuko, the son of the imam at the Islamic Center of Riverside, told NBC News that Marquez went to Friday prayers there in addition to working at its bookstore. He said he heard Marquez was a gun hobbyist, and he came across as mild-mannered, smiling and helpful — and Kuko never heard him express any extreme or conservative views. He said he would be shocked if Marquez was knowingly an accomplice to the massacre.
Shocked, shocked indeed. And deep down, pleased...
Kuko added that Farook was also reserved and mild-mannered, and sometimes liked to play on the mosque's basketball court.

Marquez has not been named as suspect in the case, and investigators say he has been cooperative. Law enforcement sources said he bought the two semiautomatic rifles used in last week's attack in 2011 and 2012. All four guns were purchased legally, officials have said.
And then given illegally to Farook. Marquez is going to be doing some time in a federal prison when this is over.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Leadership: Something Bad Happened In 2009
Essentially two stories in one:
[StrategyPage] After the November 13 ISIL attacks in Paris France decided to greatly increase its aerial bombing in Syria. Since France had worked with the United States before in fighting ISIL and both were NATO members, the Americans were asked to help with finding targets to hit.

The French quickly discovered that the Americans had discovered many valuable ISIL targets that they had not hit because there was some risk of hurting civilians. French intelligence officers (in charge of identifying targets) were surprised as it was understood that there was always some risk of hitting civilians but believed that the risk had been vastly reduced with the widespread introduction of precision bombs and missiles.

The French soon discovered that since 2008 American aerial bombing efforts had been continually ordered to reduce civilian casualties more and more. The French discovered that over Syria about 75 percent of American warplanes sent out to attack ISIL targets returned without attacking anything because there had been some risk of civilian casualties. American staff officers told their French counterparts, off-the-record, that there were plenty of critical (to ISIL) targets the U.S. could hit but have not been able to because ISIL keeps civilians in the vicinity.

The Russians, who do not coordinate attacks on ISIL with the Americans, had found many of the same key targets the Americans knew about and bombed them. This caused more damage to ISIL in a few weeks than the Americans had in over a year. The French were free to hit those targets and the French proceeded to do just that. The U.S. government has not interfered with this, at least not yet.

One unpublicized achievement of the American led air campaign against Islamic terrorists in Iraq and Syria has been the remarkably small number of civilian casualties. This bombing campaign began in August 2014 and despite over 8,200 targets hit (with smart bombs or missiles) since then there were only a few incidents of civilians being killed. Pilots and troops on the ground have complained how this was accomplished by putting priority on not hurting civilians rather than on doing the greatest damage to ISIL.

While the Islamic terrorists were hoping for civilian casualties, to use for mobilizing international media criticism of the air attacks in general, they could only muster about 60 seemingly real accusations of civilians being killed. Only ten percent of those survived close examination and the number of civilians killed was miniscule compared to the number of Islamic terrorist deaths and historically extremely low. But the Islamic terrorists were quietly pleased that they had been able to protect their most valuable targets by using civilians as human shields.

For ISIL even the threat of civilian losses to air strikes had proved a valuable asset in Syria and Iraq. In this respect ISIL is benefitting from pioneering work done by the Afghan Taliban to make it more difficult for Western air forces to use their smart bombs and superior sensors to find and cripple Islamic terrorists on the ground. American, Iraqi and other Arab leaders are complaining that the restrictive American ROE (Rules Of Engagement) are and how these rules severely limits the number of targets that can be hit.

As a result ISIL can move around more freely despite the constant presence of coalition aircraft overhead. That is no longer the case now that the French, Russians and most Arab air forces are ignoring the American ROE to go after things ISIL cannot afford to lose. In response the American ROE has been loosened up a bit.

Canadian Islamic School Linked to Calif. Shooter, ISIS Recruits
[Clarion Project] A Canadian Islamic school that was linked to the California shooter as well as four students who travelled to Syria to join the Islamic State closed for the day on Tuesday, citing "safety concerns."

Staff at the Al-Huda Institute said the media's focus on the school had put the staff and students at risk. Media focus on the school began this week when it emerged that Tashfeen Malik, one of the San Bernardino terrorists, had attended a branch of the school in Pakistan.

Last year, the school was in the headlines as four of its students, aged 15-18, had attempted to travel to Syria to join jihadi organizations. Travelling from Canada through Cairo to Istanbul, three of the girls were stopped by the Turks after the girls' parents alerted Canadian authorities. The oldest girl made it to Syria and has been living there since 2014.

The Al-Huda Institute in Mississauga, Ontario is one of a chain of 200 Al-Huda schools in the U.S., Canada and Pakistan. Founded in 1994 by an ultra-conservative female Islamic scholar, Farhat Hashmi, its ideology is said to have spread like a social movement in North America and around the world.

The self-declared "Islamic feminist," Hashmi wears a burka, advocates total obedience of a woman to her husband and promotes Saudi Wahhabist ideology. When she opened a new center in London -- in a former police station -- she was accused of teaching a "medieval view of human rights and women's place in society" as well as advocating jihad.

Her teachings were so controversial and offensive she was asked to leave Canada in 2006. Canadian reports say she has not been in the country for the last three years.

"Women gravitate towards her because they are either disillusioned with their life in the West, or they want their daughters to be protected from what they perceive to be the moral laxity of the West," Muslim human rights activist Farzana Hassan said, speaking to the International Business Times. "Her network is large and growing because her graduates then go out and spread the word to other recruits."

As for Malik, after she began studying at an Al-Huda Institute in Pakistan (before she married fellow San Bernardino shooter Syed Rizwan Farook), a close friend said she noticed a big change in her former schoolmate. "We were like, 'What happened to Malik?'" said Abida Rani. "She became so religious, so serious, and so focused on Islamic teachings, and she lost her interest in her studies."

Some Muslims 'butt hurt' over Champ's request to assist in rooting out terrorists
[NpeeR] President Obama's request that Muslim Americans help "root out" and confront extremist ideology in their communities is getting mixed reactions. Muslim leaders say they want to help, but some are not happy that they are being singled out.

"We would never ask any other faith community to stand up and condemn acts of violence committed by people within their groups," said Palestinian-American activist Linda Sarsour, who has worked extensively with the Black Lives Matter movement and other minority groups. "The fact that this is only directed at the Muslim community is something that I personally can't accept."

In his Sunday-night message, the president did say Muslims should not be treated differently, but administration officials say they are looking to the Muslim American community for some particular assistance. Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson took that request personally Monday to the All Dulles Area Muslim Society mosque in Sterling, Va.

"I will continue to speak out against the discrimination, vilification and isolation that American Muslims face in these challenging times," Johnson said.

Europe
Third Paris concert hall attacker ID'd, visited Syria - judicial source
[Rooters] PARIS, Dec 9 - A third man who attacked the Bataclan concert hall in Paris on Nov. 13 has been identified as a 23-year-old from Strasbourg who went to Syria with a group of other young people at the end of 2013, a judicial source and other officials said on Wednesday.

Sources close to the situation named the attacker, who died in the assault, as Foued Mohamed-Aggad. Prime Minister Manuel Valls confirmed on BFMTV that the man had finally been identified.

Other members of the group that went to Syria were arrested and imprisoned in May 2014 after their return, the sources said. Mohammed-Aggad's older brother Karim, who also visited Syria, is in jail in France, the judicial source said.

The Bataclan shootings were part of a co-ordinated attack around Paris that killed 130 people. Islamic State, the militant group that now controls large parts of Syria and Iraq, claimed responsibility.

The other two attackers at the Bataclan, among seven in all who died in the assaults around the city, have been named as Samy Amimour, 28, from Drancy, north east of Paris, and Ismail Omar Mostefai, 29, who lived in Chartres, south west of Paris.

Amimour also spent time in Syria, as did the presumed ringleader of the Nov. 13 attackers, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, 28, a Belgian of Moroccan origin who was killed the following week in a police raid near Paris.

Another attacker, Salah Abdeslam, 26, French and born in Brussels, is still on the run.

Africa Subsaharan
Boko Haram Torches Village near Kidnapped Girls' Town
[AnNahar] Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
gunnies have torched almost an entire village near the northeast Nigeria
... a particularly crimson stretch of Islam's bloody border...
n town of Chibok from where over 200 schoolgirls were kidnapped, a resident who fled and a local elder said Tuesday.

The raid in Takulashi village happened on Sunday and saw the Islamists loot food supplies, two days after fighters stole more than 200 cattle from the same location.

Recent months have seen a reduction in such hit-and-run raids in rural northeast Nigeria, in an indication the rebels' ability to strike has been reduced by an army counter-offensive.

But sporadic raids still occur and there is concern about an increase in suicide and kabooms in urban centers.

A group of snuffies on bicycles and on foot invaded the farming and herding community at about 6:00 am (0500 GMT) on Sunday, shooting indiscriminately and setting fire to homes.

"They burnt more than 100 homes in the village. Only five houses were spared the inferno," said a resident who gave his name as David, after fleeing to the nearby town of Askira Uba.

The attackers loaded food supplies onto four vehicles they took from the village and burnt four more they were unable to take with them. The rest of the supplies were set on fire.

"We will have to wait till everybody is back to know if there were any fatalities in the attack," Ayuba Chibok, a community leader in Chibok, told AFP.

"We are making contacts with the residents who fled to locations where there is a phone network.

"We thought the worst had happened after Boko Haram rustled over 200 cattle in the village on Friday."

In April last year 12 people were killed when gunnies attacked Takulashi in the wake of the abduction of 276 schoolgirls from their school in Chibok by Boko Haram.

Fifty-seven girls escaped soon afterwards but nothing has been seen or heard from the remaining 219 in captivity since a video in May 2014.

FBI probes Islamic State, terror links to San Bernardino massacre
It would appear in this article [dated Dec 5] that Malik's extended family had strong ties to Islamic Radical elements in Pakistan, yet the State Dept. Investigation for her K-1 fiance visa found no such issues and allowed her to enter the US to marry Farook and establish permanent residence.

Sort of begs the question regarding gov't "vetting" of refugees or anyone else for that matter. That of course assumes there ever was a question regarding governmental abilities.

#1  it is irrelevant whether there are links or not

It will not help stop the next attack done by a person who speaks to nobody and is linked to nobody

but who truly believes that killing for allah will get him a golden ticket to paradise with no judgement on the way

Islamist ideology is the problem ISIS is just the symptom

this is not a crime and punishment narrative. You cannot win it by cops and spies.

The ONLY way to win it is to actively support these people - muslims who are fighting Islamofascist ideology

support them, fund them, give them a platform to speak in the media frequently and often

and silence the Islamofascists. Deport them, prosecute them under treason laws. Declare the Caliphate (not ISIS) the enemy and ban sharia.

make it crystal clear that under no circumstances will religion be allowed to dictate laws. A secular society is the only one that can work

This is what will work.

Fifth Column
What liberal control of schools can foster
[Tammy Bruce-Wash Times] Last week the local news team at a Chicago television station shockingly used a Nazi symbol used to identify and isolate Jews as their graphic for their coverage of the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur.

The badge used in the picture above the anchor's left shoulder is the infamous Nazi badge of the Star of David with the word "Jude" in the middle, German for "Jew." While the Nazis required all Jews to wear the identifying symbol, the picture WGN aired was of the badge on the blue and white striped concentration camp prisoner uniform.

In these days of unabashed Jew-hatred wrought by Islamist tyrants, and our own president and the Democratic Party fostering an increasingly hostile attitude toward Israel, an initial reaction that this might have been a deliberate act is understandable.

Yet, that wasn't the case. WGN issued an apology in part noting, "Regrettably, we failed to recognize that the image was an offensive Nazi symbol. We are extremely embarrassed and we deeply apologize to our viewers and to the Jewish community for this mistake. Ignorance is not an excuse. Please know we are reviewing our in house policies and changes have already been made to make sure a hurtful oversight like this never happens again."

I believe them, and it sounds like someone lost their job.

The truth of the matter, and frightening in its own context, is this debacle illustrates learned ignorance, the hallmark of liberal control of our public school system and the academy.

Newly Released Email Shows Forces Were Ready to Deploy to Benghazi
[PJ Media] A new email released today by Judicial Watch shows that the Department of Defense was ready to mobilize forces to Benghazi three and a half hours after the attack began.

An email was sent by then-Department of Defense Chief of Staff Jeremy Bash to State Department leadership that offered "forces that could move to Benghazi" during the terrorist attack on the U.S. Special Mission Compound in Benghazi, Libya on September 11, 2012.

In an email sent to top Department of State officials, at 7:19 p.m. ET, only hours after the attack had begun, Bash says, "we have identified the forces that could move to Benghazi. They are spinning up as we speak." The Obama administration redacted the details of the military forces available, oddly citing a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) exemption that allows the withholding of "deliberative process" information.

Bash's email seems to directly contradict testimony given by then-Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta before the Senate Armed Services Committee in February 2013. Defending the Obama administration's lack of military response to the nearly six-hour-long attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Panetta claimed that "time, distance, the lack of an adequate warning, events that moved very quickly on the ground prevented a more immediate response."

Panetta said the 130 gunships or fixed wing fighters -- which would have required refueling abilities, armaments, targeting and support facilities -- "were not in the vicinity of Benghazi."

"During NEOs (Non-Combatant Evacuation Operations), the US Ambassador is the senior authority for the evacuation and is ultimately responsible for the successful completion of the NEO and the safety of the evacuees. The Ambassador speaks with the authority of the President and serves as direct representative on site." LINK

In the absence of the chargé d'affaires, NEO and/or 'In-Extremis Force' decision making recommendations rest with the Country Team, Foggy Bottom, with POTUS as final decision maker. We were lied to at the time and we continue to be lied to about Benghazi.

On what needs to be done about ISIS
This may be part of the 'Burg's Firm Grasp of the Obvious Dept., but here goes:
[JerryPournelle.com] President Obama apparently simply doesn't know that the Caliphate is growing rapidly. He thinks a thousand Special Forces and some arms aid to a few Sunni States, plus some charm played to Iran will take care of the entire Middle East. He thinks his strategy is working, when it is clear to nearly everyone else that it has failed and is failing.
...

The goal [should be] is overwhelming force and utter victory including ruthless pursuit. The Caliphate cannot be allowed to own and rule any territory; they must be forced to go underground, where they may exist for years, but their legitimacy as a Caliphate depends on their rule applying fundamental Muslim Law as they interpret it. If they do not rule somewhere, they cannot be The Caliphate.

The only current Presidential Candidate who seems to understand this principle at this time seems to be Carly Fiorina. She does not stand high in the polls, but she seems to understand what is required in the Middle East.

It is possible that other Republicans will catch on; The Caliphate must be destroyed, its pieces given to forces not hostile to the United States - they need not like each other - and refugees settled in these protectorates. They can be protected by locals; the commitment of a long time protective force for the area is a separate problem. The Marines, deployed for one year hitches on American bases, are enough for a start, but it is a long time problem; but until the Caliphate is destroyed it will grow; and it will never be easier to destroy than now.

They have declared war on us. San Bernardino was not Pearl Harbor. The Caliphate is not powerful enough for that. Yet.

#2  #1 having been said, the opportunity is that ISIS claims it is a caliphate, controls territory, recruits new members worldwide to move to the territory, collects taxes and in many respects is a nation-state (whether or not other nation-states have extended recognition). This is not true for proto-caliphates like Pakistan. ISIS has also declared war on us.

#3  ISIS recruits jihadis from other countries? Big deal. The only threat they pose to us is when we allow people from those countries into our country. You attack ISIS in Iraq and Syria and they will do what Arabs always do, scatter and regroup later. You attack them in this country, shoot them and arrest them and send them back to their cat boxes and the problem is solved. But you are frustrated because we have a president who won't fight them at all, here or there, probably sympathizes with them.

San Bernardino Health Inspector/Shooter Visited 11 School Cafeterias
[Breitbart] San Bernardino school officials have revealed that due to his job as a San Bernardino County health inspector, terrorist Syed Rizwan Farook inspected eleven school sites in the county for months before he massacred 14 people and wounded 21 others last week.

Less than 24 hours before the massacre, San Bernardino City Unified School District officials discovered that Farook visited one site only two months before the shootings.
Appears some potential primary targets may have been identified. The number of schools visited also closely parallels the pipes or pipe bombs found at the terrorist residence. At a minimum, 'placement and access' along with the ability to conduct pre-attack surveillance has been established.

group fighters killed Tuesday in air strikes on Raqa, the bad boys' de facto capital in Syria, a monitor said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights was unable to specify the nationality of the aircraft that carried out the raids nor the identity of the slain commander.

The man was killed in a strike on the Ferdaos district, while raids elsewhere in and around the city killed 10, including a child soldier from the ranks of the "Cubs of the Caliphate", said the Observatory.

Raqa is frequently the target of air strikes by the US-led coalition, as well as the Syrian air force and Russian warplanes that began an air campaign in Syria in late September.

The US-led coalition has expanded its operations in recent days, partly in response to the deadly attacks in Gay Paree claimed by ISIS. Britannia voted on Wednesday to join the coalition's strikes in the war-torn country.

Russia stepped up strikes against ISIS after the group claimed to have downed a Russian passenger plane over Egypt's Sinai Peninsula in October.

At least 32 ISIS fighters were killed Sunday in apparent US-led air strikes on Raqa province, said the Britannia-based Observatory.

and preparing to carry out terror attacks, the Shin Bet security service announced Tuesday.

The cell's members, all reportedly members of the same family, were arrested in October and November in a joint operation of the Shin Bet and Israel Police, according to officials.

The men were named as Abd al Karim Ihab Abdel Rahman Suleiman, 22; Mohammed Ihab Abdel Rahman Suleiman, 18; Abdel Karim Jamal Ali Suleiman, 23; Mohammed Salah Mohammed Suleiman, 19 and Murad Mohammed Salim Suleiman, 27.

The five relatives held secret meetings and trained in the use of weapons ahead of planned attacks in Israel, according to the Shin Bet. Over the past year, the suspects became more religious and expressed support of the Islamic State and the so-called jihad against apostates.

Earlier this year, Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon declared the Islamic State an illegal organization, making support for the pseudo-caliphate a crime in Israel.

Two rifles, a Russian SKS and a Swedish Carl Gustav were also confiscated in the arrests, after the suspects revealed the weapons' whereabouts. According to the security service, they practiced using the guns in a grove not far from Nazareth.

The police's Northern District filed indictments against all five men at the Nazareth District Court on counts of illegal possession of weapons, supporting an illegal terror group and meetings held in support of an illegal organization.

At least 40 Israelis are believed to have joined the Islamic State in recent years, according to Shin Bet assessments.

Police Were Warned about London Terror Suspect
[AnNahar] The family of a man charged with attempted murder after a stabbing at London Underground train station in a suspected terror attack had earlier called the authorities to warn them of his erratic behavior, his brother said.

Mohammed Mire said that his brother Muhaydin, who appeared in court Monday, suffered from paranoia and hallucinations made worse by drug use, but that he was judged as no threat to the public.
So he was a nutter, which manifested in Sudden Jihad Syndrome. Unfortunately, the highly inbred "Asian" Muslims of Britain have a great many nutters.
"Drugs influenced him, just cannabis," he told Channel 4 News. "It gave him mental problem. He was diagnosed by doctors and treated in 2007 for paranoia. He was in hospital for three months in 2007."

After recovering from that bout, the suspect went on to work for taxi firm Uber but "then he got back into the same thing and went a bit crazy," said the brother.

"That started in August of this year. He started calling me up and saying odd things.

"Not radical, it's a bit like jumping around talking nonsense and sort of like talking saying he's seeing demons and stuff, people following him.

"We tried to call the local authority, they could not help him because they said he's no harm to people and he's no harm to himself.

"I talked to the police and they came and looked at him and that was 22 October."

Muhaydin Mire, 29, from east London, is accused of attempting to murder a 56-year-old man at Leytonstone station on Saturday night, shortly after he and his family had agreed for him to leave Britannia.

"I decided to book a ticket for him on this Sunday. He was okay as far as I know," said the brother. "He wanted to go."

During Monday's brief hearing, Mire spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address and was remanded in jug until Friday when he will again appear at the Old Bailey in London.

Prosecutors allege that Mire punched his victim to the ground and repeatedly kicked him before taking hold of the victim's head and cutting a 12-centimeter wound in his neck.

The victim, referred to in court as Male A, was in surgery for five hours after the attack, the prosecution said.

Prosecutors also allege that images and flags associated with Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
jihadists were subsequently found on Mire's mobile phone.

I read recently that brain scans show that pot causes schizophrenia-like changes in the brain, AlanC. And that adolescents who use pot have permanent changes in their still-developing brains compared to their peers who don't use. It seems safe to assume that some are genetically more susceptible to damage than others, just as some are genetically more sensitive to various medications while others are less sensitive than average.

Bangladesh
'Prosecution has proved that Nizami was a collaborator'
[Dhaka Tribune] The lawyer for death-row convict war criminal Motiur Rahman Nizami
...During the liberation war of 1971, Nizami formed the Al-Badr Force and acted as its supreme commander. The Al-Badr militia took active part in rape, extortion, looting and killing of Bangladeshis who supported the liberation, including a pre-planned massacre on December 14, 1971, when the Al-Badr militia along with Pakistan Army rounded up hundreds of doctors, professors, writers, and other Bengali intellectuals, and executed them...
has admitted before the court that the prosecution successfully proved that his client was a collaborator of the Pak occupation forces in 1971.

The counsel, however, argued that since the government was not trying the Pak Army for committing war crimes, it should consider the merit of trying a collaborator for abetting the Pak Army in war crimes.

It was the first time that any war criminal or his lawyer admits collaboration with the Pak Army that killed around three million people during the country's liberation struggle.

Earlier, two executed war criminals -- Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujaheed and Salauddin Quader Chowdhury -- sought presidential clemency, but were rejected. It means that they admitted the crimes for which they had been sentenced to death.

The defence counsel, Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, yesterday prayed to the court to commute Nizami's death sentence to life imprisonment if the apex court found him guilty of his wartime offence. He also urged the court to acquit his client of all the charges.

Nizami, now 75, was the chief of al-Badr force as the head of Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
's then student wing Islami Chhatra Sangha in erstwhile East Pakistain. He later became the chief of All Pakistain Chhatra Sangha. The incumbent Jamaat chief was sentenced to death on four charges and life-term jail on four others.

In response to a question after the hearing, Mahbub said that seeking reduced punishment did not mean admitting the crimes.

"The prosecution has proved that Nizami was a collaborator. But they could not prove that Nizami was involved with any particular offence.

"The prosecution has brought witnesses to prove that Nizami was with the Pak Army. [So] they [Army] should be the main accused [in the case]. Here, the [Pakistain] Army is not being tried. So, the court should judge the justification of the trial of Nizami as an abettor [of war crimes]."

He questioned whether the collaborators, who accompanied the Pak Army personnel during operations, had the ability to assist them in committing the crimes.

Iran tested missile, breaching UN council resolutions
[ARABNEWS] Iran tested a new medium-range ballistic missile last month in a breach of two UN Security Council resolutions, two US officials said on Monday.

The officials, both speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
, said the test was held on Nov. 21. One of them said the missile traveled within Iranian territory.

A Western diplomatic source said last week on condition of anonymity that the test was held near Chabahar, a port city near Iran's border with Pakistain. He said it was a liquid-fueled missile with a 1,900 km (1,180 mile) range and was capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.

All ballistic missile tests by Iran are banned under a 2010 Security Council resolution that remains valid until a nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers is implemented.

Under that deal, reached on July 14, most sanctions on Iran will be lifted in exchange for curbs on its nuclear program. According to a July 20 resolution endorsing that deal, Iran is still "called upon" to refrain from work on ballistic missiles designed to deliver nuclear weapons for up to eight years.

In October, the United States, Britannia, La Belle France and Germany called for the Security Council's Iran sanctions committee to take action over a missile test by Tehran that month that they said violated UN sanctions. So far, no action has been taken by the committee.

Several Security Council diplomats said on Monday they had received no official notification of a new alleged violation of the UN missile sanctions against Iran since the October notification. The diplomats spoke on condition of anonymity.

[DAWN] Religious teaching cemtre Al-Huda International Welfare Foundation has distanced itself from Tashfeen Malik, one of the attackers who shot 14 people dead in Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, last week, a day after the news broke that the shooter was a student of the organization's Multan centre.

A statement on the foundation's website says , "Tashfeen Malik had studied at Al-Huda International's Multan branch for a brief period between 2013 and 2014. She left without completing the Diploma course. No organization can be held responsible for personal acts of any of its students."

The statement also says that, "The organization does not have links to any Death Eater regime and stands to promote peaceful message of Islam and denounces extremism, violence and terrorism of all kinds."

The website says that the organization firmly believes that any aware Muslim would never involve himself/herself in violent acts.

"In order to maintain full transparency about what we teach and what we believe in, we have kept our courses open and available online," the statement concluded.

Yemen confirms 7-day ceasefire for peace talks
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Yemen's president told the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
that he has asked the Saudi-led coalition to begin a 7-day ceasefire on Dec. 15 to coincide with U.N.-sponsored peace talks aimed at ending months of fighting.

"I have notified the leadership of the Coalition of our intention to cease fire for a period of seven days, starting December 15 until December 21," President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi said in a letter on Monday to U.N. Secretary-General the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon.

"This will coincide with the starting of consultations and will automatically be renewed upon commitment by the Houthis," he added.

Hadi's letter, which it said was also sent to the U.N. Security Council, confirmed remarks made earlier on Monday by U.N. special envoy to Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, who said Hadi's government and the Houthis were committed to the grinding of the peace processor laid down by the Security Council in April.

"I hope you would inform the U.N. envoy of the need to ensure that the Houthis would respect the ceasefire, and to take practical steps to ensure adherence to the permanent ceasefire, so that the Coalition forces would not deal with any breach of the ceasefire," Hadi said.

He added that the ceasefire came "out of our desire to create an atmosphere for the success of the U.N.-led consultations that the government intends to participate (in) in the coming days, and in order to help avoid further bloodshed and expand the medical and humanitarian relief efforts."

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Minor rescued from sewerage line declared dead
[Dhaka Tribune] Five-year-old Nirob, who fell into an uncovered manhole in the capital's Shyampur area, has been found dead.
Which would imply the poor child wasn't "rescued," but "retrieved."
The doctors of Dhaka Medical College Hospital declared him dead around 9pm Tuesday, soon after he was rescued in an unconscious state from sewerage line.
He appeared flushed and lifeless.
DMCH Medical Officer Sohel Rana confirmed the news to the Dhaka Tribune.

Earlier, Fire Service and Civil Defence Director General Ali Ahmed Khan told the Dhaka Tribune: "The boy has been found in an unconscious state from Shyampur Bazar sluice gate adjacent to the launch terminal and taken to the hospital."

The fire fighters rescued the boy, Shaiful Islam Nirob, from the sewerage line around 8:30pm, a few hours after he fell into an uncovered manhole.

Fire Service and Civil Defence control room duty officer Bhajan Kumar Sarker told the Dhaka Tribune "The untoward incident took place around 4:20pm Tuesday. The fire fighters rushed to the spot immediately, being informed."

Nirob's mother Nazma Begum said: "My son was playing beside the manhole with two other children. At one stage of playing, one of his friends pushed him into the ground but unfortunately he fell into the manhole."

Nazma's neighbour Jahirul Islam said: "Hearing the cry of Nazma, we rushed in and called the fire fighters."

Five members of the fire fighting unit were searching for the boy since Tuesday afternoon. However,
there's no worse danger than telling a mother her baby is ugly...
the child could not be traced before the night because of the heavy flow of water inside the manhole.

Being informed, local politician Abu Hossain Babla visited the spot around 7:30pm.

He said: "I was not informed about the uncovered manhole. But, I will investigate further and strong action will be taken against the people responsible for such accidents."

The brothers Farook: one a decorated veteran, the other a killer
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] One brother liked to party and chase girls. After high school, moved by what he saw as his patriotic duty, he enlisted in the Navy and received two medals recognizing his contributions to "the global war on terror."

The other was deeply religious and became increasingly intolerant, ultimately nursing a growing hatred that led him, along with his wife, to open fire on a San Bernardino holiday party last week, in what law enforcement officials have termed a terrorist attack.

Syed Raheel Farook and his younger brother Syed Rizwan Farook grew up in the same house, attended the same high school two years apart and, as teenagers, often socialized in the same groups. But as they grew older their paths diverged.

Rizwan is now dead, bumped off by police in Southern Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, after joining with his wife in killing 14 people and injuring 21. Raheel is alive and left to wonder what went wrong.

The contrasting lives of the Farook brothers, described by friends, neighbors and former classmates who knew them both, is a disturbing tale, in part because there are so few clues to why they turned out so differently.

The family, including Raheel, declined repeated requests through their lawyers for comment for this story. But those who knew the brothers say that by high school, their differences were apparent and growing.

"Most people here go to mosque to please their parents," said Shakib Ahmed, who attended mosque with the Farooks.

Raheel, the older brother, was that kind of kid, he said. He went to Friday prayers, but he also liked to drink and had a girlfriend in high school who wasn't Muslim.

Rizwan was quieter and more serious - and far more religious. Only with his older brother, friends said, did they see Rizwan lose his temper.

"He was nice to everyone else, but he was kind of the dominating type. He would yell at his brother," Ahmed said.

Physical Distance
Soon after graduating from high school in 2003, with the U.S. invasion of Iraq just months old, Raheel joined up and went off to boot camp in Illinois, according to naval records. In 2004, he was assigned to serve on the USS Enterprise as an information system technician.

Back home, Rizwan, a bright boy, finished high school a year early according to school records. In the years that followed, friends and neighbors say, he quit wearing jeans and polo shirts and donned robes.

"I noticed a change with the clothes and the beard," said Ahmed.

At home, there was increasing turmoil. In 2006, the boys mother, Rafia Farook, filed for divorce from her husband Syed after more than 24 years of marriage, according to court documents.

In court filings, Rafia cited multiple instances of domestic abuse, asserting that her husband was "mentally ill" and threatened "to kill himself on a daily basis." During one violent incident, she said, her son came between them "to save me."

Gasser Shehata, a friend of Rizwan's from a San Bernardino mosque, said that Rizwan talked to him in recent years about his religious issues with his dad while growing up, and how he came to side with his mother in their disputes.

Shehata said that Rizwan told him that his father refused to pray regularly, which was a source of tension.

When Rizwan joined the dating site bestmuslim.com in 2013, his profile described how he spent much of his free time "memorizing the Qur'an and learning more about the religion."

He was looking, he wrote, for a woman "who takes her religion very seriously and is always trying to improve her religion and encouraging others to do the same."

Even as the distance between the brothers grew, they remained bonded.

Attendees at Rizwan's wedding reception last year at the Islamic Center of Riverside said Rizwan seemed to enjoy his brother's easy and relaxed manner with the guests, even though he said little and seemed withdrawn. At one point, Raheel even teased his younger brother, calling him "Rizi," which Rizwan took in good humour.

Some of those who knew the Farooks have thought deeply about the brothers and their differences in recent days. But many of the things they come up with could apply to any siblings.

"Raheel was just a normal ... guy," said Usmaan Arshad, who attended La Sierra High School with the brothers. "No one talked to Rizwan," he said.

Rose Aguirre, a neighbor of the family for years, said the difference between the Farook sons had seemed to her to boil down to the fact that Raheel was "more personable, more Americanised" than his brother.

But those characterizations worked only before last week, when it became apparent that the differences went far deeper.

Attorney David Chesley told CNN on Monday that Raheel "is very upset with his brother."

"He's totally depressed and broken with grief."

Adultery: Case of Sri Lankan maid on death row reopens
[ARABNEWS] A Saudi appeals court has reopened the case of a Sri Lankan woman who was sentenced to death for adultery, Sri Lankan Ambassador Azmi Thassim revealed on Tuesday.

Thassim said the plea will probably be heard in early January but the exact date has yet to be announced.

The 45-year-old married woman with two children, who was working as a maid, was awarded capital punishment in August after being found guilty of having an illicit affair with a Sri Lankan bachelor. Her paramour, who was convicted alongside her, was sentenced to 100 lashes.

Sri Lanka's Deputy Foreign Minister Harsha de Silva first broke the news to Parliament in Colombo on Tuesday, saying the positive development was the result of his ministry's intervention.

"Based on the lawyers' advice and our intervention, a decision has been taken to reopen the case," de Silva told Sri Lankan politicians.

"We see this as a victory," he said, adding that the ministry will bear the legal expenses of reopening the case and "make the fullest efforts in order to get this verdict changed."

Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera met with an official from the Saudi Embassy in Colombo last week and expressed Colombo's concerns over the case. Samaraweera has also requested to speak with his Saudi counterpart Adel Al-Jubeir to seek clemency for the woman.

Gen Beg had filed a petition on Nov 22, 2012, seeking a review to the October 19, 2012, apex court verdict in the Asghar Khan case ordering the federal government to initiate necessary action against him and former director general Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) retired Lt-Gen Asad Durrani for their role in dishing out Rs140 million to a particular group of politicians.

On Monday, a three-judge bench, headed by Justice Saqib Nisar, disallowed senior counsel Ali Zafar to represent Gen Beg in place of Mohammad Akram Sheikh on the ground that he did not entertain a request similar to the one made by Asma Jahangir in the Sumaira Malik case.

The court, however, accepted Mr Zafar's request to help his client in case the court needed assistance on purely legal or technical questions.

Russia says hit ISIS with submarine-launched missile
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Tuesday that Russia had for the first time struck Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) targets in Syria with missiles fired from a submarine in the Mediterranean.

"The targets were two large terrorist positions in the territory of Raqqa," Shoigu told President Vladimir Putin
...Second and fourth President and sixth of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead...
in a televised meeting, adding that the Calibre missiles had been fired from the submarine Rostov-on-Don.

"We can say with complete confidence that fairly serious damage was done to weapons stores and a factory for preparing mines and, naturally, oil infrastructure."

Shoigu said Russia had informed Israel and the United States in advance of its plan to launch missiles from a submarine.

He said that, over the previous three days, Russia's air force had flown more than 300 sorties over Syria and struck more than 600 targets of various types.

Russian bombers flying over Syria were being accompanied by fighter jets, as Putin had ordered, he added.

Russia began intervening directly in Syria's civil war at the end of September with air strikes in support of its ally, Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Despoiler of Deraa...
But the intervention has had unintended consequences, notably when The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
shot down a Russian fighter jet that it said had strayed into Turkish airspace, an allegation that Russia denies.

Putin told Shoigu that Russian Sherlocks should open the flight recorder of the Russian plane only in the presence of international experts, "to carefully document everything."

Trump's proposal is unconstitutional say legal experts
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Donald Trump's call to block all Muslims from entering the United States is not only unconstitutional but also impossible to carry out, legal experts said Tuesday.
Eric Posner, Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Chicago Law School, says that it's expressly legal. His is not the final word, of course, but he's a smart guy. He also points out -- correctly -- that one can't block American citizens of Muslim beliefs from re-entering the country. Americans have rights in our country; foreign nationals do not. Journalists are simply trying to advance a narrative, and Posner points out that there are certain scholars who are assisting with that.
Trump's proposed ban, announced to cheers at a rally in South Carolina on Monday, would apply to immigrants and visitors alike, a sweeping prohibition affecting all adherents of a religion practiced by more than a billion people worldwide.

Beyond inciting condemnation from Republican presidential rivals and others, legal and immigration experts said Tuesday that Trump's proposal violated the Constitution's equal protection clause and freedom of religion granted under the First Amendment.

"It is blatantly unconstitutional, and it's an attack on the very foundation of the United States," said Marci Hamilton, a law professor specializing in the First Amendment at Yeshiva University in New York City. She called the idea "laughable."

"It's never possible to fully ascertain what someone believes internally," Hamilton added. "How does one recognize a Muslim, a Christian or a Jew? Do you look at where they were born, do you look at where they were raised? Do you look at the last religious service they attended?"

#14  People like Trump because he doesn't read from a teleprompter. You get the impression that he says what he thinks, he not afraid to say it and most often it's what we're thinking. You'll never know what Obama, Bush or Clinton are really thinking because they recite the lines that somebody else has given them and they're afraid to go off the script. You can always tell the minute they start talking that they're reading from a script because nobody, but nobody, ever really speaks that way. I gotta believe that when his time comes Trump will have his own legal experts advising him as to whether an action is Constitutional or not. Judging by what he says, I gotta believe that he is putting America's best interest before those who would turn this country into a Third World hell hole like Pakistan, Syria, China or Mexico. I hope he means what he says but I sure as hell can't vote for PC Bush.

#15  Dale, the difference is those were all nationalities we were at war with and this is a religion that spans multiple countries.

Legally we could block immigrants from all of those countries but we'd have to exclude a large swath of Europe to do so.

So the idea is untrodden ground legally as far as I can tell. The question then becomes, is it wise policy. I have yet to hear any of those opposed to the idea put forth anything more than sputtering Hitler or saying that they believe it is unAmerican. None of them truly discuss the repurcussions.

Two "American" Shaboobs surrender in Somalia
MOGADISHU -- The defections of two fighters, an American and a U.S. resident, from Somalia’s Islamic extremist rebels highlight tensions within al-Shabab over whether it should remain affiliated to al-Qaida or switch allegiance to the Islamic State group, according to an al-Shabab commander.

Foreign fighters are being alienated and feel trapped in Somalia over suspicions that they are plotting to switch allegiance to the Islamic State group fighting in Syria and Iraq, Abu Mohammed, a military commander with Al-Shabab told The Associated Press Tuesday. The “ambitions” by some foreign fighters in al-Shabab to join the Islamic State group had led to them to be isolated within the Somali group and even face death at the hands of their erstwhile comrades-in-arms.

An American who had been fighting with al-Shabab left the rebels and was arrested by Somalia’s security forces on Monday. Abdimalik Jones, who said he is from San Diego, was arrested in the southern port of Barawe, said African Union spokesman Col. Paul Njuguna.

Jones claimed he fled al-Shabab because of rifts within the group, said an official with Somali security forces who insisted on anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to the press. Jones is missing the index finger of his right hand, said the official.

Separately an American resident, a Minnesota man named Mohamed Abdullahi Hassan, who joined al-Shabab in Somalia more than seven years ago, surrendered to Somalia’s federal government on Nov. 6, the U.S. State Department said in an email to The Associated Press. It’s not immediately clear why his arrest wasn’t announced earlier. Hassan was a lawful permanent resident of the U.S. but not an American citizen.

Hassan had been fighting with al-Shabab but recently went online to urge others to carry out violence on behalf of IS. State Department spokeswoman Pooja Jhunjhunwala said Hassan is in the custody of the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency in Mogadishu. She said the U.S. is discussing the case with the Somali Federal Government, but noted that Washington does not have an extradition agreement with Somalia.

The two defections show tensions within al-Shabab, according to Mohammed.
“Some mujahedeen fighters are now preferring to fall into the enemy’s hands instead of meeting death in the hands of brothers,” said Mohammed, adding that the friction over IS “is messing everything up here.”

Al-Shabab’s leadership declared that fighters acting in contravention with the mainstream stand to be aligned with al-Qaida would represent “Bid’ah,” or misguidance, which would lead to them being killed.

Foreign fighters with al-Shabab would have to give up their desire to join IS to escape death, said Mohammed.

“They have no choice,” he said by phone from southern Somalia.

The defections by the two foreign fighters would not have much impact on al-Shabab militarily, but it may make it more difficult for al-Shabab to recruit more foreign fighters, said a senior Somali intelligence official.

“At this point, the group is gambling on its drive to attract foreign volunteers — it gives the impression that foreigners are unwelcome,” said the official, who insisted on anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to the press.

He said the defections of the two Americans appear to be separate.

“They have no time to coordinate for their defections,” he said. “Everyone is on his own way to escape an imminent death.”

Somalia the most corrupt nation in world, says Somali president
And boy howdy the competition was fierce...
President of the federal republic of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has announced that his country is the most corrupt nation in the world.
Not that I want to doubt him, but has he ever been to either Pakistain or Zim-bob-we?
Speaking at an event in Mogadishu on Monday, Mr Mohamud said: “the current corruption in Somalia is not only embezzlement and stealing money, but it is disobeying the national law.”

On the other hand, the president has denied a recent report saying that Somalia is the first place, whereby the human rights are being violated.

“1,700 rape cases reported in Somalia. This report is false and baseless. I don’t deny rape is taking place in the country, but the numbers have been exaggerated,” said Somali president.
"Not more than 1500, 1600 tops!"
Somalia is ranked one of the most corrupt countries in the globe, according to Monitoring group reports.

Afghanistan
Taliban attack in Kandahar airfield leaves at least 9 dead
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A group of Taliban jacket wallahs launched a coordinated attack in Kandahar airfield on Tuesday evening, leaving at least nine people dead.

The attack carried out by a group of heavily armed Talibs triggered a standoff which continued until around 11:00 pm local time.

Provincial governor front man Samim Khpolwak confirmed the incident but he said it is yet not clear how many Death Eaters were involved in the attack.

A local security official said the Death Eaters launched an attack on a compound of the Afghan National Army (ANA) in Kandahar airfield.

The official speaking on the condition of anonymity further added at least 9 people were killed and around 15 others were maimed during the shootout.

According to the eyewitnesses in the area, the Talibs initially launched the attack by hurling hand grenades and taking position inside an old school building located near the airfield.

The Talibs group claimed responsbility behind the attack.

Today's attack comes a day after the Talibs attacked a cop shoppe in the 9th police district of Kandahar city, leaving two coppers maimed.

Hamas adopts revolving-door policy on IS members in Gaza jails
[IsraelTimes] The Strip's ruling body releases Islamic State operatives from its prisons -- only to arrest them again later

In a never-ending cycle, Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, is catching and releasing Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
operatives in the Gazoo Strip who fire rockets at Israel, Paleostinian sources say.

Just two weeks after being let out of prison, some IS bandidos forces of Evil were already back to their old habits, shooting Kassams at Israel's southern communities. Mahmoud Talb, Muhammad Baras and Ahmad Musallam, all known supporters of the Islamic State and global jihad movement in the Gazoo Strip, were among those released by Hamas only to later take part in attacks.

Talb has been locked away
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
by Hamas, the ruling party in the Gazoo Strip, more than ten times for his actions, according to Paleostinian sources.

This only continues Hamas's unspoken and contradictory policy towards the Islamic State and the global jihadi movement. On one hand, Hamas must work against these operatives and prevent their actions, while on the other hand, they often work side-by-side and even assist one another.

For instance, high-ranking members of Hamas's military wing make a point of bringing injured IS fighters from Sinai into the Gazoo Strip for medical treatment. Meanwhile,
...back at the pond, the radioactive tadpoles grown into frogs. Really big frogs, in fact...
the Islamic State in Egypt helps Hamas smuggle weaponry and vast sums of money into the Strip.
How on earth do they get back and forth, given the border fence Israel built and the flooded tunnels into Egypt?
The commander of IS forces in the Sinai met with Hamas leaders in Gazoo during what was intended to be a secret trip last week, in order to widen their cooperation and coordinate attacks on Egyptian and Israeli targets, Israeli television reported Thursday.

Shadi al-Menei has also been responsible for occasional incidences of rocket fire from the Sinai on the Israeli southern resort town of Eilat, the TV report said.

The deepening cooperation between Hamas and al-Menei's Islamic State hierarchy is infuriating to Egypt and "worrying for Israel," the report added. It said that al-Menei was behind a 2011 terrorist attack in southern Israel in which four groups of bandidos forces of Evil targeted a bus and several Israeli army vehicles, killing six Israeli civilians, two members of the Israeli security forces and several Egyptian soldiers. Ten bad boyz were potted.

California shooting: Act of individual does not represent a country or religion, says Nisar
[DAWN] ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan
...Currently the Interior Minister of Pakistain. He is the senior leader of the Pak Moslem League (N) and a close aide to Nawaz Uncle Fester Sharif. He is noted for his vocal anti-American railing in the National Assembly. However (comma) Khan told the U.S. ambassador that he was in fact pro-American but he and the PML-N would have to be critical of US actions in order to remain publicly credible. Khan cited his wife and children's US citizenship as proof, which means he's lying to one side or the other and probably both. He wears a wig, but you probably guessed that. since hair doesn't grow naturally in that shape or texture...
on Sunday referring to the recent shooting in Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, said that the act of an individual does not represent a country or religion and added that every Pak who has a heart and has some understanding will condemn the incident.

Nisar termed the shooting as an attempt to malign Islam and Muslims and said that 'such incidents are making life difficult for Pakistain and Muslim diaspora'.
Perhaps so. Seems like they say the same thing, though, every time Moslems singularly or plurally decide to murder a few infidels, or even a few fellow Moslems. Since Paks seem to be involved in ninety percent of such incidents that could have something to do with why life's so "difficult."
"The wrongdoing of an individual Muslim or Pak does not mean the entire country or religion is at fault."
But what's the significance of wrongdoing after wrongdoing specifically done in the name of that particular religion? Is there still no fault to accrue to the religion?
"The Western world in particular and world in general is getting the impression that whatever these holy warriors are doing is actually Islam," said Nisar.
Since the holy warriors are defining the world as a struggle between Islam and everything else doesn't that kinda drag Islam into the equation someplace?
He said Islam's teachings start with peace and end with peace.
"It's in the Koran someplace. You could look it up!"
"Whatever these gunnies are doing has nothing to do with Islam or Muslims," said the Interior Minister.
"Even though they start out by memorizing the Koran!"
About the facts of case, he said that they are the same as you have got through media, that the shooter Tashfeen Malik, shifted to Saudi Arabi nearly 25 years ago and that she was a resident of Dera Ghazi Khan district of Punjab.
Her true love was also a Pak, though considered an "American" since he had been born here, even though raised in Pak culture.

He went on to say that the news of Mullah Omar's death was kept hidden by Mullah Mansour.

Mullah Niyazi also said the Taliban's former leader was opposed to talks, which were scheduled to start after the opening of the Qatar office.

"The day the Taliban office opened in Qatar was the same day Mulla Omar was killed but this news was kept hidden," Mullah Niyazi said.

"The recent incidents happening among Taliban are a game that Iranians, Paks and Americans started in Afghanistan," Niyazi added.

province recently and criticized Mullah Mansour.

He said: "All those who are along with Mullah Akhtar Mansour either they are officials or scholars who have been paid and we are aware of this issue. Those scholars who did not accept money and did not sell their conscience are being threatened with death."

This comes amid ongoing rumors of Mullah Mansour's death - at the hands of rival Taliban members. However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
in a bid to quash the speculation, the Taliban released an audio tape last week purportedly made by their leader in a bid to prove he was alive.

The person who claimed to be Mullah Mansour on the tape did however mention that there were differences of opinion among Taliban capos.

"Among key members of the Emirate and those who are emirate officials the conflicts are not in that stage that they are killing each other," said the person on the tape.

He went on to say: "Be assured we are not fighting with anyone for the sake of power, we are moving in our rightful path which is the Sharia path."

But a political analyst Nazar Mohammad Mutamin said: "When military, governors and individuals associated with the Taliban stand beside one of the Taliban group it is natural that that side is more powerful."

But so far a number of festivities have broken out between the two factions and analysts believe that with each passing day disputes increase among the Taliban groups.

Bangladesh
JMB man who killed Kunio arrested
[Dhaka Tribune] Police say they have placed in durance vile
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
the prime suspect in Japanese citizen Hoshi Kunio's murder, adding that the arrested JMB man also killed a mazar khadem last month in Rangpur.

Masud Rana, 38, is a regional leader of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh
The JMB is said to be the youth front of Al Mujahideen, the parent organization that began working toward establishing Bangladesh as an Islamic state in the mid 1990s which remains obscure even today. Other organizations, such as Jama'atul Jihad, JMB, Jagrata Muslim Janata Bangladesh (JMJB), Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HUJI), Hizbut Tawhid, Tawhidi Janata, Islami Jubo Shangha, Islami Shangha, Al Falah A'am Unnayan Shanstha and Shahadat-e al Hiqma are believed to be part of the Al Mujahideen network. The JMB at its peak was reported to contain at least 100,000 members, and an alleged 2,000-man suicide brigade, few of whom actually exploded. JMB allegedly received financial assistance from individual donors in Kuwait, UAE, Bahrain, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Libya. Reports have claimed that funding of JMB by international NGOs like Kuwait based Society of the Revival of Islamic Heritage (RIHS) and Doulatul Kuwait, Saudi Arabia based Al Haramaine Islamic Institute and Rabita Al Alam Al Islami, Qatar Charitable Society and UAE-based Al Fuzaira and Khairul Ansar Al Khairia. The top leadership of JMB was captured in 2005 and hung in 2007, which pretty much shot their bolt.
, said Humayun Kabir, the acting deputy inspector general (DIG) for Rangpur Range.

Rana was arrested from his house, the acting DIG said without disclosing the time of arrest.

Police sources, however, said Rana had been arrested sometime before last Thursday. News of his arrest had not been announced to the media earlier for the sake of ongoing investigation, the acting DIG said yesterday.

Rana had previously been in jail for two years, but secured bail and started to reorganise JMB activities in the district following his release.

"Masud Rana is the JMB regional commander of the region and was one the shooters [of Kunio]. He confessed in the court of Senior Judge Shafiul Alam that he shot at Hoshi Kunio," acting DIG Kabir said.

The same person killed Khadem Rahmat Ali on November 10 at Choita intersection in Kaunia upazila and also tried to kill Bahai community leader Ruhul Amin two days earlier.

Following Rana's confession, the police recovered three knives including one that Rana admitted of using to hack khadem Rahmat to death. They also searched the vicinity of his home and found fifty empty cans that were supposed to be used for making crude bombs.

However,
corruption finds a dozen alibis for its evil deeds...
police are yet to recover the firearm and the bike that were used to kill Kunio.

The 65-year-old Kunio was killed by three unidentified cycle of violence-riding men in Kachu Alutari village on October 3.

Earlier, the police detained five suspects in the Kunio murder case including Rashidunnabi Khan Biplob, the younger brother of BNP leader Habib Un Nabi Sohel, and the victim's business partner Humayun Kabir Hira.

At the time, law enforcers also claimed that all three of Kunio's attackers have been arrested.

But yesterday, the police did not say whether the latest arrest had any links with the previous detainments.

Home Front: WoT
Report: California killers were in contact with LA extremists
[IsraelTimes] FBI also indicates that couple were radicalized 'for quite some time,' took target practice at area gun ranges

The couple who carried out the San Bernardino massacre that killed 14 had been in contact with "people holding myrmidon views in Los Angeles," MSNBC reported Wednesday based on correspondence with local police officials.

On Monday, the FBI said the two killers had been radicalized "for quite some time" and had taken target practice at area gun ranges. Authorities further disclosed that a year before the rampage, Syed Farook's co-workers at the county health department underwent "active-shooter" training in the very conference room where he and his wife opened fire on them last Wednesday.

It was not immediately clear whether Farook attended the autumn 2014 training session on how to react to a workplace gunman, county spokeswoman Felisa Cardona said. It was held for members of the department's environmental health division, where Farook was a restaurant inspector.

On Monday, one employee who had been in the room when Farook and Tashfeen Malik launched their attack on a holiday luncheon said colleagues tried to do just as they had been trained -- find protection and stay quiet.

"Unfortunately the room just didn't provide a whole lot of protection," said Corwin Porter, assistant county health director.

Farook, a 28-year-old born in the US to a Pak family, and Malik, a 29-year-old immigrant from Pakistain, were killed in a gunbattle with police hours after the bloodbath.

"We have learned and believe that both subjects were radicalized and have been for quite some time," said David Bowdich, chief of the FBI's Los Angeles office.

He added: "The question we're trying to get at is how did that happen and by whom and where did that happen? And I will tell you right now we don't know those answers."

He also said the Muslim couple had taken target practice at ranges in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, with one session held within days of the rampage.

In addition, authorities found 19 pipes in the couple's home in Redlands, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, that could be turned into bombs, Bowdich said. The FBI previously said it had found 12 pipe bombs.

Newly released emergency radio transmissions from the fast-moving tragedy show that police identified Farook as a suspect almost immediately. Witnesses said he had left the luncheon about 20 minutes before the shooting began.

It was was unclear how he was identified so quickly, given that witnesses said the attackers wore black ski masks. Bowdich would not address that question.

Iraq
Daesh loses large part of Ramadi
[ARABNEWS] Iraqi security forces on Tuesday recaptured a large area on the southwestern side of Ramadi from the Daesh [Islamic State] group, which overran the city in May, officials said.

Retaking the Al-Tameem area from Daesh [Islamic State] is a significant breakthrough for Iraqi forces, which have been fighting for months to secure territory around Ramadi, a major city west of Baghdad and the capital of the vast Anbar province.

"Today, our forces completely cleared the Al-Tameem area after a fierce battle against Daesh [Islamic State] gunnies," Sabah Al-Noman, the front man for Iraq's counter-terrorism service, said.

Daesh [Islamic State] Death Eaters "had no choice except to surrender or fight and they were completely destroyed," Noman said.

Maj. Gen. Hadi Irzayij, the police chief for Anbar, confirmed that Al-Tameem had been retaken as did Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasool, the front man for the Joint Operations Command.

"The liberation of Al-Tameem will greatly help in speeding up the liberation of the city of Ramadi," Rasool said. "Iraqi forces are ready and close to entering the center of the city," Irzayij said.

Iraqi forces were working to clear bombs planted by Daesh [Islamic State] in Al-Tameem, which is bordered by a branch of the Euphrates River that divides it from the next bad boy-held area.

Daesh [Islamic State] overran large parts of Iraq in June 2014, including major territory in Anbar, which stretches from the borders with Syria, Jordan and Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. to the western approach to Baghdad.

Shifting parts of Ramadi, located 100 km from Baghdad, had been held by anti-government fighters since the beginning of 2014. But Daesh [Islamic State] did not succeeded in completely overrunning it until May of this year.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wrecked scow, a single surviver held tightly to the smashed prow...
The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
has halted a deployment of troops to northern Iraq but will not obey Iraq's request to withdraw those already there, the Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday, insisting they had been sent with Iraq's knowledge to help fight Daesh [Islamic State].

The arrival of a heavily armed Turkish contingent at a camp near the frontline close to the city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
has added yet another controversial deployment to a war against Daesh [Islamic State] that has drawn in most of the world's major powers.

Ankara says its troops are in Iraq to train Iraqi forces. "Training at this camp began with the knowledge of the Iraqi Defence Ministry and police," Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Trump worse than Voldemort, says J.K. Rowling
[DAWN] World leaders, fellow Republicans, along with “Harry Potter “author J.K. Rowling condemned comments by US presidential hopeful Donald Trump saying Muslims should be barred from entering the United States. British author J.K. Rowling wrote on Twitter that Voldemort, the archvillain of her popular Harry Potter series, “was nowhere near as bad” as Trump.
That's a really dumb statement by a really good writer. She invented a character who epitomized Evil. Trump is maybe wrong, but he's not Evil, and probably not even evil. Hyperbole's a poor substitute for just saying "I disagree."
Trump's proposal also drew criticism in France, which had its worst attacks since World War Two on Nov. 13 when shootings and suicide bombings in Paris killed 130 people.

French Prime Minister Manuel Valls, in a post on Twitter, said “Mr Trump, like others, is feeding hatred and misinformation. Our only enemy is radical Islam.”

#19  Ok. I think I may have figured out what Trump is up to. The Left is freaking out and calling for his head. That leaves conservatives in a bad position. We don't like Trump, but at the same time we can't let the media claim a scalp. The net of this is to keep Trump in the race -- just as his position in the polls was inexorably eroding.

Well played, a**hole.

#21  The media and political elites are totally outmatched and outclassed with Trump. Ted Cruz is the only one who can see this. He is playing them as no other has done before. This will only get better. He is drawing in people from every walk of life in this country. One way or another they will try to take him out. As with Venezuela the left and right refuse to relinquish power.

Fox News suspends two commentators for profanity while criticizing Obama
[MONEY.CNN] Two Fox News commentators were suspended on Monday for using profanities while criticizing President B.O. on Monday.

Ralph Peters, a Fox News "strategic analyst," called the president a "total pussy" who "doesn't want to hurt our enemies."

A couple of hours later Stacey Dash, a Fox contributor, said the president "didn't give a shit" about Sunday night's terrorism speech.

"Earlier today, Fox contributors Lt. Col. Ralph Peters and Stacey Dash made comments on different programs that were completely inappropriate and unacceptable for our air," Fox senior executive vice president Bill Shine said.

"Fox Business Network and Fox News Channel do not condone the use of such language, and have suspended both Peters and Dash for two weeks," he said.
I agree with the statements, I just don't agree with the language, not for national teevee...
Yup. Someone's got to show a little class...

#5  We must be raising a bunch of hot-house, delicate pansy types in the media. If one checks out some of the language used by Democrat Harry Truman, one finds him unrestrained in his use of language. For example, he said: "General Douglas MacArthur was a "dumb son of a bitch," and Nixon was "a shifty-eyed goddamned liar."

"I never did give them hell," he once reminisced. "I just told the truth, and they thought it was hell."

Perhaps, if the media and public figures used more colorful language, we might not have gotten saddled with some of the arseholes we have had in the WH.

Personally, I like the straight talk of Peters, Dash and Trump. Enough, already of the tyranny of political correctness.

Proverbs 6:16-19King James Version (KJV)

16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

#8  The convention, going back to the days of radio, is that interviews and talk shows -- with a few cable and late night exceptions -- are being piped into the living room of your gentle, maiden aunt, and language is to be modified accordingly. I suspect that President Truman, who was most certainly a gentleman of reasonable intelligence, used different vocabulary in public than he did in private. A two week time out will give the parties time to come up with vivid but appropriate terminology for future use.

Africa North
ISIS (Ansar Bayt al Maqdis) may have seized weapons from interdicted shipment to Hamas
[Ynet] Weapons that survived an Egyptian strike on an arms convoy heading to Islamic State's Sinai affiliate and used in a massive operation against Egyptian forces.

Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, believes a shipment of arms to Gazoo that was interdicted by Egypt could have fallen into the hands of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, Ynet has learned.

A recent major-scale Egyptian operation to thwart the smuggling of weapons into the Gazoo Strip may have had an unintended consequence.

A few days after the operation against a convoy of Gazoo-bound arms, fighters in Sinai from Ansar Beit al Maqdis, a group that pledged allegiance to the Islamic State nearly a year ago, mounted a large scale attack against Egyptian security forces in the peninsula using weapons similar to those seen in the shipment.

The Hamas leadership believes that ISIS seized the weapons that remained intact after the Egyptian strike on the weapons convoy, having told Hamas that the weapons were destroyed.

The Sinai branch of the radical terror organization has seemingly become independent of Hamas, despite basic logistical ties that were formed between the organizations.

These ties included the transfer of ISIS fighters maimed in the fighting with Egyptian forces to Gazoo's Shifa hospital for medical treatment and the transfer of hundreds of thousands of dollars from Hamas to ISIS in Sinai in exchange for the smuggling of raw materials used in the strip's domestic weapons manufacturing.

In order to facilitate the flow of weapons shipments, the ISIS affiliate, which took over the Sinai side of the Gazoo smuggling tunnels, demands a "tax" in the form of a small number of the weapons.

Iraq
The Isis papers: leaked documents show how Isis is building its state
A leaked internal Islamic State manual shows how the terrorist group has set about building a state in Iraq and Syria complete with government departments, a treasury and an economic programme for self-sufficiency, the Guardian can reveal.

The 24-page document, obtained by the Guardian, sets out a blueprint for establishing foreign relations, a fully fledged propaganda operation, and centralised control over oil, gas and the other vital parts of the economy.

Gen Stanley McChrystal (retired), who led the military units that helped destroy Isis's predecessor organisation (ISI) in Iraq from 2006 to 2008, said: "If it is indeed genuine, it is fascinating and should be read by everyone – particularly policymakers in the west.

"If the west sees Isis as an almost stereotypical band of psychopathic killers, we risk dramatically underestimating them.

"In the Principles in the administration of the Islamic State, you see a focus on education (really indoctrination) beginning with children but progressing through their ranks, a recognition that effective governance is essential, thoughts on their use of technology to master information (propaganda), and a willingness to learn from the mistakes of earlier movements.

"It's not a big departure from the works of Mao, the practices of the Viet Minh in Indochina, or other movements for whom high-profile actions were really just the tip of a far more nuanced iceberg of organising activity."
The article links to a scribd of the document, for those who can read Arabic.
Update at 1:50 p.m. ET: The researcher who gave The Guardian the documents blogs about it here, and provides an English translation here.
