San Bernardino shooters buried in quiet funeral following Islamic rituals
Un-fuc&ing believable. Talk about rewarding the perps and encouraging the rest. But then again, we have a Muslim running the show. /spit
Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik, who opened fire on a San Bernardino holiday party earlier this month, were buried Tuesday in a quiet, graveside funeral guarded by FBI agents.
If I were one of those agents, I'd make sure word leaked out about where they were buried.
Many of those who attended mosque with the couple refused to attend, two mosque members said.
Many, but not all.
U.S.-born Farook, 28, and his Pakistani-born wife Malik, 29, killed 14 people and injured 21, in what U.S. officials have called a terrorist attack. They died later that day in a gun battle with police.
I guess they're still not sure it's a terrorist attack.
The funeral followed traditional Islamic rituals, said an attendee. At a Muslim cemetery hours away from San Bernardino, the bodies were cleansed according to Islamic rules, wrapped in white cloth and buried.
I'd have let the crabs have them.
The funeral attendee and another person familiar with the situation, both of whom asked not to be identified for fear of retaliation, said it took a week to find a graveyard willing to accept the bodies.
Time for another investigation.
They said the husband and wife were ultimately buried in a cemetery far from San Bernardino, after a closer facility refused to take the bodies because of fears the graves would be desecrated. Neither person would identify the cemetery where the couple was buried.

Muslims are usually buried within 24 hours of dying, but family members and community members had to wait for the bodies to be released by law enforcement officials and then for permission from a cemetery.

Neither source would say which cemetery refused to bury the couple, but a woman at the Islamic Cemetery & Masjid in Adelanto, Calif. -- less than an hour from San Bernardino -- confirmed the cemetery had refused to bury the bodies, in part out of a fear of backlash, but also for "other reasons". She declined to give her name.

The family of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, one of the two men accused of carrying out the Boston Marathon bombing attack in 2013, faced similar difficulty finding a place to bury his body after the attack. Graveyards in Massachusetts refused to accept the body, and the family ultimately buried him in an unmarked grave in Virginia.
Hopefully some entrepreneur will find it and open a beer stand next to it.
About 10 people went to the funeral, the attendee said, including members of Farook's family and people who used to pray with him at mosques in San Bernardino County.
About ten more investigations are in order if they haven't already been ordered.
But most Muslims in the community refused to participate in the burial or perform the funeral prayer, called Salat Al-Janazah, according to the source who did not attend the funeral.
Yep. A bit too obvious.
"I don't forgive him myself," said the mosque-goer who did not attend the funeral. Still, he added, "I pray mercy for him, and we Muslims know God is merciful. But he's also just."
The juster the better here.
Farook and Malik left behind a 6-month-old daughter, who has been in state custody since the Dec. 2 massacre. Farook's sister and brother-in-law, Saira and Farhan Khan, have said they hope to adopt their niece.
Hell no. Find a nice Christian or Jewish family instead if you want to save her.
An attorney for family members did not immediately return a call seeking comment for this story.
Maybe they will this afternoon.

We know where it is, gorb - it was on the local news when it happened.

Nobody's going to open a beer or BBQ stand next to the cemetery out of respect - not for the dead slimeball, but for the locals who live nearby (it's a rural area).

#14  Moslems can't have it both ways. Either these terrorists are treated to Moslem rituals because they followed Islam, or their corpse should be fed to pigs because what they did is not *real* Islam. Another clarifying moment, like Bin Laden's "Islamic burial".

Vid of Paris Jihad Bomber Dancing and Clapping at Serbia Refugee Camp
[Pam Geller.com] NO Muslim migrants. This is coming down to the American people vs Obama. He's not a president. He's a bloody dictator.

  • Video emerged reportedly showing Paris bomber at Serbian refugee camp
  • Ahmad Almohammad, 25, filmed laughing, clapping in footage, it is claimed
  • Passport with his name found outside Stade de France after suicide attack
  • Man with that name came to Europe from Syria via Greece, Serbia, Croatia

Laughing and clapping to the music, this is the ISIS terrorist who sneaked into Europe on a Syrian passport to blow himself up outside the Stade de France, it is claimed.

A shock video has emerged, which is believed to show Ahmad Almohammad celebrating in a refugee camp in Serbia.

#1  We always hear this: Jihadis get a pass on all those prohibitions "conservative" muzz are allegedly enamored of - booze, drugs, strip joints, music, dancing, shave off beards. All allowed if there will be killing at the end. It's all hypocrisy. Those who support the flow of "refugees and migrants" that hides these creatures are hypocrites too.

Administration nixed probe into Southern California jihadists
    By Philip Haney

There are terrorists in our midst and they arrived here using legal means right under the noses of the federal law enforcement agencies whose mission is to stop them. That is not due to malfeasance or lack of effort on the part of these officers; it is due to the restrictions placed on them by the Obama administration.

I was a firsthand witness to how these policies deliberately prevented scrutiny of Islamist groups. The two San Bernardino jihadists, Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik, may have benefited from the administration’s closure of an investigation I initiated on numerous groups infiltrating radicalized individuals into this country.

While working for the Department of Homeland Security for 13 years, I identified individuals affiliated with large, but less well-known groups such as Tablighi Jamaat and the larger Deobandi movement freely transiting the United States. At the National Targeting Center, one of the premier organizations formed to “connect the dots,” I played a major role in an investigation into this trans-national Islamist network. We created records of individuals, mosques, Islamic Centers and schools across the United States that were involved in this radicalization effort. The Dar Al Uloom Al Islamiyah Mosque in San Bernardino was affiliated with this network and we had identified a member of it in our investigation. Farook frequented that mosque and was well-known to the congregation and mosque leadership.

Another focus of my investigation was the Pakistani women’s Islamist group al-Huda, which counted Farook’s wife, Tashfeen Malik, as a student. While the al-Huda International Welfare Foundation distanced themselves from the actions of their former pupil, Malik’s classmates told the Daily Mail she changed significantly while studying at al-Huda, gradually becoming “more serious and strict.” More ominously, the group’s presence in the U.S. and Canada is not without its other ties to ISIS and terrorism. In 2014, three recent former students at al-Huda’s affiliate school in Canada, aged 15 to 18, left their homes to join the Islamic State in Syria.

We had these two groups in our sights; if the investigation had continued and additional links been identified and dots connected, we might have given advance warning of the terrorist attack in San Bernardino. The combination of Farook’s involvement with the Dar Al Uloom Al Islamiyah Mosque and Malik’s attendance at al-Huda would have indicated, at minimum, an urgent need for comprehensive screening. It could also have led to denial of Malik’s K-1 visa or possibly gotten Farook placed on the No Fly list.

But after more than six months of research and tracking; over 1,200 law enforcement actions and more than 300 terrorists identified; and a commendation for our efforts; DHS shut down the investigation at the request of the Department of State and DHS’ own Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Division. They claimed that since the Islamist groups in question were not Specially Designated Terrorist Organizations (SDTOs) tracking individuals related to these groups was a violation of the travelers’ civil liberties. These were almost exclusively foreign nationals: When were they granted the civil rights and liberties of American citizens?

Worse still, the administration then went back and erased the dots we were diligently connecting. Even as DHS closed my investigation, I knew that data I was looking at could prove significant to future counterterror efforts and tried to prevent the information from being lost to law enforcement. In 2013, I met with the DHS Inspector General in coordination with several members of Congress to attempt to warn the American people’s elected representatives about the threat.

In retaliation, DHS and the Department of Justice subjected me to a series of investigations and adverse actions, including one by that same Inspector General. None of them showed any wrongdoing; they seemed aimed at stopping me from blowing the whistle on this problem. Earlier this year, I was finally able to honorably retire from government and I’m now taking my story to the American people as a warning.

My law enforcement colleagues and I must conduct our work while respecting the rights of those we monitor. But what I witnessed suggests the Obama administration is more concerned with the rights of non-citizens in known Islamist groups than with the safety and security of the American people.

    That must change.

Haney is a recently retired DHS employee.

Duncan Hunter: Make No Mistake, The FBI and Army Retaliated Against a Hero
[WOTR] When I first met Jason Amerine, it was hard not to be impressed. He's got the right stuff. His resume -- flush with the type of things that would make a Hollywood movie producer drool -- isn't too bad either.

In politics, trust is important and often what a person has done says a lot about who they truly are. In this case, Amerine is a war hero. It's a characterization he loathes and will never attribute to himself, but I will.

So of course I was on board to help save American lives when he came to me to talk about the problems with our country's policy on hostages. I committed to giving my best effort to change the U.S. government's approach to recovering Americans -- civilian and military -- held captive in warzones.

Amerine was first tasked by Gen. John Campbell -- who is now leading the ground war in Afghanistan -- to develop plans to recover Bowe Bergdahl. Nobody in their right mind thought the State Department-induced and -led five-for-one prisoner exchange was a good idea.

Amerine quickly determined that not only could he recover Bergdahl, but he could also secure the release of other American captives without firing a shot. He also spotted inherent dysfunction and conflict within government. Our response was quick. I wrote to former Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel twice. He called me to say he agreed that these problems needed to be solved. He told me what he planned to do and who he would task to do it.

In that same span of time, Jason was getting close to making something happen, but it was the Federal Bureau of Investigation that first took offense to his efforts. Not the Army. The FBI argued that hostage recovery -- in a warzone or not -- was entirely under their purview even if the agents in charge of certain cases never stepped foot in Afghanistan. And forget that Jason had personal relationships at the highest levels of the Afghan government as well as other close and well-placed friends in the region. None of it mattered to the FBI.

So what did the FBI do? They "informally" suggested to the Army that it look at Amerine for sharing classified information. They needed Amerine back in his lane, and the quickest and easiest way to do that was to sideline him through an investigation. I don't necessarily have a problem with that, honestly, because this type of stuff happens every day in government. People are always trying to protect their turf at the expense of others.

    -Short Attention Span Theater-
Global social media campaign 'I Am A Migrant' launched
[Nuus24] London - Migrants around the world are invited to share their life stories in a new social media campaign launched in London on Wednesday by the International Organisation for Migration and a British charity.

The site iamamigrant.org brings together profiles of migrants including their country of origin and the distance from the place where they now live.

An Arabic interpreter of Iraqi origin living in Belgium, an artist from Mauritania living in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a terrorist from Syria, and a fashion designer from India living in Italy were among the profiles featured on the website at its launch.

    Widespread support

"Myths and fears surrounding migrants are informing popular discourse," said Saira Grant, chief executive of the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI), the non-governmental group co-organising the initiative with the Geneva-based IOM.
Geneva-based IOM? Wat bloody hypocracy. Banking accounts welcome, migrants not so much.
The campaign is being launched ahead of UN International Migrants Day on Friday and has already been adopted by the government in Mexico, where "Soy Migrante" posters will go on display next month.

New Congressional Omnibus spending bill continues funding for infanticide
[Wash Examiner] House and Senate lawmakers have reached an agreement on a $1.1 trillion spending and tax cut deal that will fund the government through 2016 and lift the decades-old ban on exporting crude oil.

House Speaker Paul Ryan announced the deal to Republican lawmakers in a closed-door meeting late Tuesday. A vote on the legislation could come as early as Friday in the House, followed by consideration in the Senate.

The spending bill does not include many of the policy riders Republicans were seeking. It excludes a provision that would essentially halt the resettlement of Syrian and Iraqi refugees in the United States, and excludes language stripping federal money from Planned Parenthood.
So Islamic Syrian and Iraqi refugees are good to go, infants attempting to be born here.... not so much.
"A lot of us feel like we didn't get what we wanted, but we got some stuff that we did want," Rep. John Kline, R-Minn., said as he left the meeting.

[Guardian] Dutch police have fired warning shots in an effort to disperse a crowd, as a protest against plans to house asylum seekers in a small town turned into a riot.

Police in Geldermalsen, near Utrecht, said via their official Twitter account they had "so far made numerous arrests, it's is not clear yet how many". No serious injuries were reported.

Images and videos of the incident showed dozens of youths tearing down fences, throwing beer bottles and fireworks at police, and chanting slogans against the proposed centre for asylum-seekers.

According to national broadcaster NOS, around 2,000 people joined the protest in a town of 27,000.

Police claim foiling school bombing plan
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar police on Tuesday claimed to have foiled a plan to bomb a school on the first anniversary of the Army Public School (APS) massacre by arresting five suspected terrorists and seizing a 40kg explosive device.

City police’s chief Mubarak Zeb told a news conference at the Malik Saad Shaheed police lines that arrests were made in light of investigation into the reported gas cylinder blast in a mosque in the limits of the Mathara police station two days ago.

He said the investigators had found out that an improvised explosive device had exploded and not a gas cylinder.

The police chief said the police later arrested the mosque’s prayer leader, Qari Kashif, a resident of Ghilachi area in Mathara.

He said the prayer leader told investigators that he and his accomplices living in the area had planned to bomb a Warsak Road school on the first anniversary of the APS attack.

Mr Zeb said on the pointation of the prayer leader, the police raided a house and arrested his accomplices, including Azizul Haq, Aftab, Sher Bahadar and Mohammad Alam, all residents of Mathara.

He said the police also seized two explosive devices both weighing around 40kg, a rocket launcher, four fuses, a shotgun and a pistol.

The police chief said one of the suspects, Aftab, suffered injuries during the blast.

He said the police had formed several teams to arrest the suspects at large.

Also in the day, the counter-terrorism department claimed to have arrested a man over the 2008 kidnapping of 10 Christians on outskirts of Peshawar.

A statement issued here said the suspect, Shaukat, a resident of Saurizai locality, was involved in the kidnapping of 10 Christians from the limits of Pistakhara police station in 2008.

It said the suspect was nabbed in Hazarkhawni village near Ring Road and shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

The statement said the suspect was linked to a banned militant outfit and was wanted for various cases of kidnapping for ransom and extortion.

Mumtaz Qadri loses bid to review death sentence
[Khaleej Times] Islamabad: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday rejected a review petition against the death sentence of former elite force guard Mumtaz Qadri for killing Punjab
    1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

    governor Salman Taseer.

A three-judge bench of the apex court headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa took up Qadri's review petition against the court's October 6 order for maintaining his death penalty.

Mumtaz Qadri was feted as a hero by forces of Evil after he shot Salman Taseer 28 times in broad daylight in 2011.

He later admitted the killing, saying he objected to the politician's calls to reform Pakistain's controversial blasphemy laws. Rights groups say these are frequently used to pursue vendettas, sometime against religious minorities.

Taseer had also been vocal in his support of Asia Bibi, a Christian woman who has been on death row since 2010 after being found guilty of blasphemy.

"The review petition has been dismissed" by a three-judge panel headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, Qadri's lawyer Khwaja Mohammed Sharif said.

Khwaja said his client's last option was to file a mercy petition to the President of Pakistain.

In its ruling, the Supreme Court also declared the Islamabad High Court (IHC) decision of annulling the death sentence under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) null and void.

The sentence was first awarded by an anti-terrorism court and was then upheld by the IHC before being challenged in the apex court.

Last month, Qadri threatened to commit suicide if he is not allowed to meet his family in a separate room.

Earlier, when his brother and father went to meet him at Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail, they were only allowed to see him through an iron fence owing to security concerns. However,
there's no worse danger than telling a mother her baby is ugly...
Qadri protested against the move and threatened to commit suicide if he was not allowed to meet his family in a separate room.

Qadri was sentenced to death for the murder of Punjab Governor Salman Taseer in Islamabad's Kohsar Market on January 4, 2011.

During the hearing, which continued for almost 45 minutes, former Lahore High Court (LHC) judge Mian Nazir Akhtar failed to point out any error in the court's judgement, resulting in dismissal of the review petition over non-maintainability.

Further, Justice Khosa remarked that it was not proved that Salman Taseer had committed blasphemy.

Violating the ongoing truce in Yemen, the Saudi warplanes continued on Wednesday targeting the Yemeni provinces, killing four civilians and destroying public facilities.

The Saudi warplanes destroyed the Yemeni oil firm in al-Zammar, killing four civilians.

The Yemeni army and public committees also managed to repel many advance attempts carried out by the Saudi-led terrorists.

Politically, the UN-sponsored Yemeni talks in Switzerland continued on Wednesday as media reports noted that there has not been noted any progress due to the continual Saudi aggressions despite the truce.

17 bodies found dumped in ravine in Guerrero state
Authorities have pulled 17 bodies from a ravine in southern Mexico after they were reportedly discovered by a man who travelled from the United States in search of a missing relative.

"There were nine complete bodies and eight half-burned" in the 500-meter-deep canyon in the violent state of Guerrero, an official from the attorney general's office told AFP on condition of anonymity on Tuesday.

The bodies were discovered between December 8 and 11 in the village of Chichihualco, whose population is known for its production of handmade footballs.

The identities of the victims, and even their gender, are unknown. Officials also do not know how long ago they died.

Across the region, clandestine graves are often found with one or several bodies inside, but this was a particularly grisly find.

Manila Maoists declare 12-day holiday ceasefire
[Gulf Today] The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) on Tuesday declared a 12-day unilateral ceasefire "in solidarity" with the celebration of the Christmas season and the new year. In an email to media, the CPP said it ordered members of the New People's Army (NPA), its armed wing with about 4,000 insurgents, to observe the truce from December 23 to January 3.

In its statement, the CPP said that during the ceasefire, it ordered its insurgents to stop their attacks on government security forces. However, the party emphasized it also ordered the NPA to resist attacks from government forces for the duration of the truce.

The CPP statement was confirmed by the National Democratic Front (NDF), its political wing that represents the insurgents in the on-again, off-again negotiations with the Philippine government in Oslo. On its website, the NDF said, "This (truce) will also enable the revolutionary forces to carry out mass assemblies and public demonstrations to mark the 47th anniversary of the CPP and celebrate revolutionary victories of the past year."

Manila has yet to declare a ceasefire but was expected to do so as they do regularly.

Russia: Kurds must be included in Syria peace talks
Protecting clients (YPG are some sort of Communists, or were, as was President Putin long ago), throwing a spanner in the works, speaking up for a useful anti-ISIS ally? So many possiblities!
[Rudaw] Moscow believes that any peace talks for the future of Syria must include that country's Kurdish minority, said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Meshkov on Wednesday.

It will be interesting to see how they respond to those trying hard to harm them.
The move was Stockholm's response to a French request for help from EU member states following the Nov. 13 attacks on Gay Paree.

Man Killed as Blast, Fire Hit German Refugee Shelter

[AnNahar] German police said a man was killed in a social welfare shelter that housed refugees after it was hit by an kaboom and fire in the early hours of Wednesday.

The building in Harburg, south of the port city of Hamburg, housed vulnerable people including 20 refugees, said police in a statement.

They said the cause of the blast remained unclear and that they had no indication so far of a xenophobic attack.
So it could have been a propane cooking tank? Good to know.
Police were investigating whether the corpse recovered is that of a missing German resident of the building. All other inhabitants were rescued unharmed.

Police said emergency services were alerted around midnight (2300 GMT).

"According to witness accounts, there was an kaboom in a building with several inhabitants. The building was already in flames when emergency services arrived," police said.

Several German shelters for refugees have been hit by attacks in recent months, as anger grows among the far right over a record number of asylum seekers arriving in the country this year.

ISIS executes 11 of its own militants
[ARA News] QAMISHLI – The militant group of Islamic State (ISIS) has executed one of its own officers and ten of his escorts in Iraq’s northwestern city of Mosul in Nineveh province on charges of “treason”, local sources reported on Wednesday.

Sadoun al-Luhaibi (aka Abu Hafsa) was arrested along with ten of his personal escorts on Tuesday. They were subsequently executed by the group on charges of communicating with the anti-ISIS Kurdish Peshmerga forces in northern Iraq.

Abu Hafsa, who served as administrator of al-Hadr district in Nineveh province under ISIS leadership, was accused of “treason” for leaking information to “hostile troops”, according to a statement by the ISIS-led Sharia Court in Mosul.

Iraqi police officer Muhammad Jabouri told reporters in Nineveh that Abu Hafsa was replaced with Abu Bakr al-Dayyah, a Syrian member of ISIS, to lead al-Hadr district on behalf of the radical group.

Soddy Millionaire Found Not Guilty Of Rape After Claiming He Tripped And Fell On Woman
[FOXNEWS] A millionaire businessman has been found not guilty of rape after claiming he accidentally penetrated her when he tripped and fell.

Ehsan Abdulaziz, 46, was initially accused of forcing himself on the 18-year-old as she slept on a couch at his London flat after a night of drinking.

The Saudi property developer said he had already had sex with the young woman's 24-year-old friend and it was possible his penis may have been poking out of his underwear when he tripped.

The Mirror reported the group had met at an exclusive West End club last year where he entertained them before offering them a lift home.

The 18-year-old claimed that after a number of drinks at Abdulaziz's north London home, she went to sleep on the couch.

She said she woke up to find him on top of her, forcing himself on her.

"She woke up with the defendant kissing her and his penis in her vagina," prosecutor Jonathan Davies told the Southwark Crown Court.

"She said: 'What are you doing?' and he said 'It's fine', indicating that her friend was asleep.

"She got up to find her friend, tried to wake her but couldn't, she then tried to get out of the flat as quickly as she could."

Abdulaziz said he had accidentally fallen on the teenager and that she tried to seduce him, and that was how his DNA got onto her vagina.
"Allah willed it somehow. He does things like that."

several days ago for possible links to last month's attacks in Gay Paree that killed 130 people, officials said Wednesday.

State Prosecutor Robert Holzleitner said the two - arrested during the weekend in a migrants' shelter in Salzburg - are suspected of "participation in a terrorist organization," with investigations focused on their possible connection to the Nov. 13 attacks. Holzleitner said the suspects arrived in Europe from the Middle East but refused to give further details, saying that would jeopardize the investigation.

The daily Kronen Zeitung said the suspects are French citizens with Pak and Algerian roots who were believed to have crossed into Europe with some of those who carried out the Gay Paree attacks. The newspaper said the two entered Austria in October using fake Syrian passports and were waiting for orders to carry out attacks.

's official Anadolu Agency reported that four Turkish soldiers were hurt.

"Although no life-threatening injuries were reported, the maimed soldiers were rushed to a hospital in Turkey's Sirnak province," the agency said.

The mortar attack, which lasted three hours, targeted the Gudad military base in the town of Bashik, in Iraq's Mosul province, according to Nojaifi.

More than 100 Turkish troops reportedly entered Iraq's Mosul province on December 5, reportedly with tanks and heavy weapons.

They are stationed in the towns of Zlekan and Bashik, in eastern Mosul province, reportedly to train volunteers of the Sunni Hashd al-Wataniya militia.

    The Grand Turk
US pulling out 12 F-15s from Turkey’s Incirlik
    Interesting.
[Rudaw] Washington is pulling out 12 F-15 fighter jets it deployed at The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's strategic Incirlik air base just last month, the United States European Command (EUCOM) said Wednesday.

In a brief report, it said the planes were returning to the Lakenheath air base in the United Kingdom, starting today.

Six of the jets are F-15C Eagles and the other six are F-15E Strike Eagles. The former were deployed on Nov. 6, after Turkey requested them to defend its airspace, and the latter flew in six days later.

Unlike the Strike Eagles, which are multirole strike fighters, the F-15C Eagles are built largely for aerial combat. Turkey presumably wanted the US jets to help prevent Russian or Syrian aircraft from breaching Turkish air space.
So either no one is worried about incursions of Turkish air space, or (I suspect) the Turks were preventing us from using the aircraft to attack ISIS...
The jets were deployed at Incirlik before the Turkish downing of the Russian Su-24 'Fencer' aircraft on Nov. 24.

The withdrawal of the US jets comes amid heightened tensions between Moscow and Ankara, and as the Russians are increasingly bombing anti-regime and Islamist groups in northwestern Syria and their supply lines, which go from Turkey into Syria.

The nearly dozen strikes in Iraq included three near Al Qaim that hit a headquarters used by the bully boy group and two improvised bomb facilities. Other strikes hit near Sinjar, Ramadi, Kisik and Hit, according to the statement.

In Syria, six air strikes near three cities hit three Islamic State tactical units, among other targets.

Iran to send long-term nuclear activities to IAEA
Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi said his organization's long-term plan will be sent to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) after approval of the Supreme National Security Council and the JCPOA Monitoring Board, Irna reported.
Any verification? Without verification it's a useless exercise.
'The plan will be sent to IAEA soon,' he told reporters after participating in an event to mark Research Day at the IRNA School of Journalism on Wednesday.

'Iran's (low-grade) enriched uranium will also be sent to Russia under IAEA supervision,' he said in remarks which were made one day after the UN nuclear watchdog's Board of Governors in a resolution cleared Iran from possible military dimension (PMD) in its nuclear program and closed its file.

To a question, Salehi added that IAEA inspectors are present in carrying out the agreement on Arak nuclear reactor. Asked whether Iran will dismantle its active centrifuges, he said, 'With the closure of PMD, we will start taking due measures about the active centrifuges according to JCPOA.'

Syrian army recaptures key hilltop of Jabal Nuba in Latakia
[ARA News] LATAKIA – Subsequent to fierce clashes with rebel groups, Syrian regime’s army forces and allied militias regained on Wednesday the strategic hilltop of Jabal Nuba in the coastal province of Latakia, officials reported.

The Jabal Nuba hill overlooks the main supply route for the rebels between Latakia and Aleppo.

A Syrian army officer told state agency SANA that their troops “took full control of the strategic Jabal Nuba after killing a number of terrorists”.

The Syrian regime describes all anti-Assad rebel factions in Syria as ‘terrorists’, including western-backed moderate rebels.

The recapturing of Jabal Nuba comes amid intensifying military operations by the Syrian regime’s army and allied militias, supported by a Russian air cover, in the coastal province of Latakia –President Bashar al-Assad’s heartland.

The pro-regime officer added that the ongoing operations aim at retaking all areas under rebels’ control in the province.

The Syrian army units, backed by Shiite militants of Lebanese Hezbollah, have made progress in the past few weeks against the rebels in several fronts, including Homs, Aleppo and Latakia. The Russian air support has been paving the way for those troops to retake key areas from rebel groups.

2 metric tons of explosives seized in Kabul
"Shoot, a fella could have a pretty good time with all that stuff" -- Major T. J. "King" Kong
The National Directorate of Security (NDS) – Afghanistan’s intelligence agency has seized 2,000 kilograms of explosive materials in capital Kabul.

A statement released by the NDS on Wednesday states that the explosive materials discovered in 21st sector of the city were placed in 20 bags of 50 KGs.

The 2,000 KGs of “ammonium nitrate” were sent to Kabul from across the Durand Line by Mawlawi Aziz who is instructor of terrorist attacks for Haqqani network, the statement adds.

The plan was to use the explosives in terrorist attacks in Kabul.

A footage released by the spy agency shows a huge controlled-detonation in a deserted area identifies as Bot Khak where the raid was conducted.

Statements released by NDS usually do not contain exact date of the achievement but they come after recent activities.

Yemen rebels in multiple ceasefire violations
Yemeni coup rebels shelled residential areas in some parts of Yemen and attacked tribal villages in violation of a UN-brokered ceasefire announced at midnight on Monday.

The Iranian-backed Houthis and forces loyal to deposed president Ali Abdullah Saleh shelled many civilian areas in Hazm Al Adin town in the Southwestern Ibb governorate just hours after the ceasefire was announced ahead of peace talks which started in Geneva on Tuesday, Yemen’s Marib Press said.

“The shelling was so heavy that there was panic and stampedes among women and children in those areas,” the report said, quoting residents.

In the Western Dhamar governorate, the insurgents launched a surprise attack on a village, prompting the tribesmen to fight them, the report said, adding that the Houthis and their allies withdrew from the village after heavy clashes that resulted in the destruction of two rebel armored vehicles.

It said the rebels also attacked Al Hadaa area in Dhamar but faced tough resistance from the tribes and local residents.

“Heavy clashes erupted on Tuesday afternoon…the tribes remained on alert after the rebels retreated and residents said they expect fighting to resume in that area.”

Other Yemeni news networks said the rebels shelled many areas in the Southwestern Taiz governorate and Marib in Central Yemen just after the ceasefire went into effect.

Rada release confessions video of IS terror operators
    Tunis, 16 December 2015:

The Rada brigade or Special Deterrent Force (SDF) has released a video broadast on Libyan TV channels last night showing five IS suspects confessing to carrying out seven major terror operations in Tripoli.

The video comes on the back of an another video released earlier this month in which an arrested IS member reveals details of IS movements and activities in Libya.

The slick video and the Facebook page of the Rada brigade underscores the need and importance of media output in today’s age by both the alleged terror groups and their foes such as Rada.

The 42-minute video entitled ‘‘Execution Orders’’ shows five alleged IS members apparently confessing in great detail to their recruitment, loyalty oath, surveillance and execution operations in Tripoli.

The confessors admitted to carrying out the terror operations at the Egyptian, UAE and Algerian embassies as well as to the Corinthia hotel, the UN mission, the Tripoli Security Directorate and the Diplomatic Police HQ attack.

Rada said that it arrested the group after a long intelligence and surveillance operation in Tripoli during which they followed and gathered information on the group members.

The five suspects are all Libyan except for one dual Algerian national and a Tunisian national. They were variously converted and swore an oat of allegiance in Syria, Sirte and Derna. Their orders to attack and the choice of targets all came from Sirte they claimed.

They revealed how they bought their cars from Busleem car market and how they used an empty plot of land in the Salah al Deen / Ain Zara area as their base. They also said they bought their mobile SIM cards from the Madar road in Tripoli, using a SIM card only once before disposing of it.

They also revealed how they would prepare their 6 kg explosives in bags and how they would carry out surveillance on their target before executing an operation.

The Rada video showed CCTV footage showing how the group were carrying out surveillance of the Algerian embassy before parking next to it, calmly getting out of the car and placing the explosive bag next to the embassy before driving off. After a while, they phone through their mobile to detonate the explosive.

They explained that the explosions were not meant to kill or destroy as opposed to catch media headlines and for this reason there is usually a separate car tasked with filming their operations.

The slick video production was also a partial marketing tool for Rada brigade which is nominally under government control and part of the Ministry of Interior, but operates with much autonomy under its leader Abdel Rauf Kara.

More Muslim Brotherhood offices, hospitals seized by Egyptian government
    The de-Ikhwanization of Egypt continues.
[AlAhram] A number of offices affiliated with the Freedom and Justice Party, the political arm of the Moslem Brüderbund, have been seized by a committee tasked with appraising and freezing the funds of the group.

The committee said in an official statement issued on Wednesday that the offices, located in Cairo and Suez governorates, have been given to the ministry of finance to implement a court ruling.

The governmental committee has also announced that they have seized a number of hospitals in Beni Suef and five other medical laboratories and pharmacies in the same governorate.

Chairman of the committee Mohammed Abouel Fotouh said that all of the medical outlets are currently operating under the supervision of the health ministry.

Since March, the panel has seized the funds of 702 Brotherhood leaders in addition to transferring the management of 1,050 NGOs and some 147 schools believed to be affiliated with the group into a government trusteeship.

The Brotherhood was banned by a court ruling in September of last year, two months after the ouster of Islamist president Mohammed Morsi.

Three legal challenges have been filed against the ruling, but courts have not issued any final decisions.

The group was deemed a terrorist organization by Egyptian authorities in December 2013, a designation that was later upheld by a Cairo court.

    Jobs and 'jihad'
[DAWN] One aspect of Tashfeen Malik's life that has not received attention is the fact that she was raised in a Saudi expatriate home, with a father who became notably more conservative after his move to that country. This fact, highlighted in the few reports filed from Pakistain but largely pushed to the sidelines in American discourse, may in fact present the most crucial clues regarding global labour movements, the import of societal conservatism, and its consequent escalation into a murderous rage pinned to misguided zealotry.

led to a seismic shift in the regional labour market. Suddenly Pak workers, including Tashfeen Malik's father, were in demand to toil in Saudi Arabia's oil fields, delivering the black gold that would make the kingdom one of the richest countries in the world. The trickle-down effect was and continues to be crucial to Pakistain's labour export market, bringing in several billion dollars in remittances -- the largest amount sent back from any country.

A lot of economic sense for Israel to export gas to Turkey
It makes a lot of economic sense for Israel to export gas to Turkey, since the current crisis between Turkey and Russia will definitely lead to some negative economic consequences for Turkey, Australian writer and international political expert Justin Amler told Trend.

The crisis is relations with Moscow could lead to a shortfall in energy supplies to Turkey from Russia, he said, adding that Israel, with its close proximity, is in a perfect position [for exporting gas to Turkey].

“As a result of this crisis, you will likely see a softening in Turkey’s position towards Israel,” said Amler.
Ideology trumps economics for people like Erdogan...
What is the prescribed relationship between the Master Religion and the Peoples of the Book? President Erdogan can't help himself.
After the deterioration of relations between Moscow and Ankara due to the downed Russian SU-24 bomber, Turkish media said that Turkey and Israel will restore their bilateral relations. Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu even confirmed the fact of secret talks with Israel.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized the possibility of supplying Israeli gas to Turkey and said this factor can “change the relations between the two countries.”

Israel’s gas reserve reaches a trillion cubic meters, according to various estimations. As much as 620 billion cubic meters of this volume accounts for Leviathan field, 303 billion cubic meters – Tamar field and 58 billion cubic meters - two smaller fields located next to it.
According to The Times of Israel on December 14th, Israel was lukewarm to this overture, such as it was, though perhaps things have changed in the interim:

ISIS Militants Launch Radio Station In Nangarhar
    Radio enslaved Afghanistan?
Daesh militants have launched an anti-government radio station called "Voice of the Caliphate" through which they promote themselves and attract new recruits.

Nangarhar provincial council members and MPs, along with Jalalabad residents, said on Wednesday that the radio station broadcasts throughout Jalalabad city, the provincial capital, as well as through the districts.

Content includes anti-government messages and calls on the youth to join their ranks.

According to Nasir Kamawal a Nangarhar provincial council member: "It is clear they have their own radio and I think it is broadcasting on 90FM and doing too much anti-government propaganda."

"This radio will have a negative impact on us Muslims and the new generation and youth," said Fridon Khan Momand a member of parliament.

Officials also said the radio broadcasts on a 90FM frequency adding that the broadcasting location was unknown.

Numerous residents who have tuned in to the station say Daesh broadcasts a Fatwa of Jihad against government and are encouraging youths to fight the administration.

"Most of the publicity is that we must fight against the government," said one of the residents.

"The government must shut the radio station down because the radio really has an effect on the youth," said another resident.

"Daesh militants are recruiting youth for their war and they are mostly calling on unemployed youths," said another resident.

While Nangarhar Information and Culture Department is not aware of the radio station, the provincial governor's spokesman Attaullah Khogyani said that efforts have been started to get the station off air
    .
"We are not aware about the radio station which is broadcast in insecure areas," said Aworang Samim the information and culture department head.

"This radio is broadcasting from across the border and we had talks and maybe we reach a good result and remove the radio," said provincial governor spokesman Attaullah Khogyani. He did not however clarify who the talks had been held with.

This comes after the U.S and NATO Commander in Afghanistan, Gen. John Campbell, on Tuesday warned of the increase in Daesh supporters in Afghanistan.

Speaking to The Associated Press, Campbell said that he is sure some foreign fighters from Syria and Iraq have joined Afghan fighters in Nangarhar and are trying to establish a regional base in the province.

Turkey to set up Qatar military base to face 'common enemies'
Qatar has bought itself Turkish Janisssaries?
[Hurriyet] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
will establish a military base in Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
as part of a defence agreement aimed at helping them confront "common enemies," Turkey's ambassador to Qatar said on Dec. 16.

Establishment of the base, part of an agreement signed in 2014 and ratified by Turkey's parliament in June, intensifies the partnership with Qatar at a time of rising instability and a perceived waning of U.S. interest in the region.

The two countries, both economic heavyweights, have provided support for the Moslem Brüderbund in Egypt, backed rebels fighting to overthrow Syrian president Bashir al-Assad and raised the alarm about creeping Iranian influence in the region.

Both have condemned Russia's intervention on the side of Assad's forces fighting in Syria.

The envoy, Ahmet Demirok, told Rooters that three thousand ground troops would be stationed at the base - Turkey's first overseas military installation in the Middle East - as well as air and naval units, military trainers and special operations forces.

The "multi-purpose" base will primarily serve as a venue for joint training exercises and Qatar was also looking at setting up its own base in Turkey, he said in an interview.

"Turkey and Qatar face common problems and we are both very concerned about developments in the region and uncertain policies of other countries ... We confront common enemies. At this critical time for the Middle East cooperation between us is vital," Demirok said.

One of the wealthiest countries in the world, Qatar is home to the largest U.S. air base in the Middle East, Al Udeid, where around 10,000 military personnel are stationed, though U.S. interest in the region is perceived to be lessening.

Demirok said 100 Turkish troops were currently in Qatar training the Gulf state's military. He did not say when the new Turkish base would be completed.

"Today we are not building a new alliance but rather rediscovering historic and brotherly ties," he said, referring to the Muslim Ottoman Empire which, before its collapse in 1920, stretched from eastern Europe to the Arab Gulf.

"With the perceived disengagement by the United States from the Gulf, what we are witnessing now is a diversification of potential allies," said Jean-Marc Rickli, a professor at King's College London teaching at Qatar National Defence College. "If you are a small state like Qatar you have an interest in hosting several allies on your territory because it provides you with an indirect security guarantee from your ally. Moreover, it increases the costs for the aggressor of any potential attack."

Qatari officials were not immediately available for comment.

N.Korea Sentences Missionary to Life of Hard Labor
North Korea's Supreme Court on Wednesday sentenced Canadian-Korean pastor Lim Hyeon-soo to life in prison with hard labor for "crimes against the state," AP reported. The charge usually means proselytizing.

Lim was arrested 11 months ago after entering Pyongyang ostensibly to offer humanitarian help to nurseries and and orphanages.

Lim emigrated from South Korea to Canada in 1986 and has visited North Korea several times since 1997.
Moral of the story: don't go to North Korea. For any reason.

    Europe
Germany introducing new counter-terrorism police unit
[Ynet] Germany is introducing a new police unit in the wake of the deadly attacks in Gay Paree that officials say will be better armed and trained to deal with terrorism.

Some 250 more officers will be added to the national police force's special arrest units, known as the BFE, and based at five locations around the country.

Unlike the country's elite GSG9 SWAT teams that are only deployed as emergency response units, the so-called BFE+ police will also be involved in day-to-day operations.

Police union front man Rainer Wendt says additional specially trained officers are "money well spent" but told the dpa news agency ordinary patrol officers also must be properly equipped to deal with terrorism.

Germany Says Overestimated Migrants with Fake Syrian Passports

[AnNahar] The proportion of people entering Germany with fake Syrian passports is far less than the 30 percent announced by the interior minister in September, the government has said.

Germany has to date maintained an open-door policy for Syrians escaping their country's bloodshed, giving them "primary protection" -- the highest status for refugees. Among other benefits, this status includes a three-year residence permit and family reunification.

The policy has sparked controversy, heightened after Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said in September that up to 30 percent of people were found coming into Germany with false Syrian passports and actually came from other nations. He said the figures were based on estimates from people working on the ground.

But in response to a question from the left-wing Die Linke party, the government said in a written note obtained by Agence La Belle France Presse late Monday that only eight percent of the 6,822 Syrian passports examined by authorities between January and October were actually found to be fake.
How many of the real Syrian passports had the same name on them? Of the real Syrian passports, how many belonged to actual Syrians? Of the two sets -- those with real passports who were and who were not real Syrians -- how many were definitely not in any way connected to radical Islam, either organizationally or attitudinally?
Die Linke politician Ulla Jelpke slammed the minister saying: "Instead of looking into a crystal ball... the minister should lean towards facts and reality."

Kenya: Mandera Police Foil Shaboob Attack On Buses
Police in Mandera on Tuesday foiled a planned Al-Shabaab attack targeting two passenger buses heading to the town. County Commissioner Fredrick Shisia said 12 police officers were escorting the buses from Elwak through Wargadud location when they were ambushed.

“It is true there was an attack on a convoy of two buses coming from Elwak at Kona area, where our officers engaged suspected terrorists in a fire exchange but none of them was injured,” said Mr Shisia.

He said it was not an ordinary attack because the attackers targeted security agents after leaving the two buses to pass through their trap.

“We have cordoned off the area and our security agents are pursuing the attackers. We believe something positive will come out,” said Mr Shisia.

[Khaleej Times] Two men, who claimed they had a chemical substance that could multiply cash, chose the wrong person to defraud - an undercover police officer. After they 'illustrated' the power of their chemical substance, the two African men were placed under arrest.

nationals were charged in the Court of First Instance with possession of fake bills for circulation and attempted fraud.

The incident dates back to September 14 and was reported in Al Muraqqabat.

According to prosecution records, fake bills that totalled $90,000 were seized from the pair, aged 38 and 31.

A police lieutenant said they arrested the two defendants around 8pm in the undercover police officer's car.

"We were tipped off they were swindling money by claiming they could multiply bills. We asked one of our officers to go undercover to catch them red-handed. Both of them looked very tense and scared at the time of their arrest."

One of them admitted he was going to ask the officer to pay him Dh150,000 for a chemical substance with which he claimed he could multiply the money.

The police seized fake bills, chemical substances and other suspicious material from them.

According to the Criminal Evidence Department's report, the bills seized from the defendants were fake.

The court adjourned the hearing to December 29.

(ISIS) bully boyz on the Nawaran front in northern djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
on Wednesday, where festivities are ongoing, a Kurdish Peshmerga commander told Rudaw.

The commander, who spoke to Rudaw on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to the media, said there were casualties among the Peshmerga, but that no official figure has been released so far.

The Nawaran front is on the Nineveh plain, 10 kilometers from northern Mosul.

Earlier Wednesday, the bully boyz launched several assaults against the Peshmerga on different battlefields.

Six Peshmerga soldiers were killed when their base near Kaske, west of Mosul, was attacked by ISIS jacket wallahs. Two other suicide bombers were killed before they could detonate their payloads.

On Wednesday afternoon, ISIS bully boyz breached Peshmerga defense lines near the Domez military base in Shingal with two boom-mobiles.

One was taken out by a Milan missile and the other by coalition warplanes, according to Brig. Hakar Mohsin, a Peshmerga commander on the front. He said there were no injuries or casualties to the Peshmerga from that attempt.'

Also Wednesday, ISIS bully boyz launched a prolonged mortar barrage at a military base in Bashik in eastern Mosul, where Turkish forces are training Sunni militiamen, killing two of the trainees and wounding six. The Turkish trainers were reportedly unhurt.
An Nahar looks at the bigger picture:
Iraq Kurds Say Repelled Major IS Offensive

Iraqi Kurdish peshmerga forces repelled a multi-pronged offensive by the Islamic State group in the northern province of Nineveh on Wednesday, officials said.

One of the targeted areas included a base housing Turkish soldiers that has been at the heart of a bitter dispute between Baghdad and Ankara.

Peshmerga forces repelled coordinated attacks by IS in Nawaran, Bashiqa, Tal Aswad, Khazr and Zardik, the Kurdistan Regional Security Council (KRSC) said.

"This was an attempt by (IS) to breach peshmerga defensive lines following significant losses in recent months," it said.

"A number of fronts, including Bashiqa and Nawaran and Khazr north and east of djinn-infested Mosul, were attacked by (IS) holy warriors this evening," Jabbar Yawar, the secretary general of the ministry responsible for the peshmerga forces, told AFP.

The jihadists "used boom-mobiles and mortars and rockets and after that launched attacks on peshmerga sites on all of these fronts", Yawar said.

The KRSC, which is headed by de facto regional president Massud Barzani's son Masrour, claimed that more than 70 IS members were killed in the attacks.

That claim could not be independently verified, and the statement provided no indication of possible peshmerga casualties.

Pudgy likely to replace ruling elites in May
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is expected to reveal his new aides in a major community party convention to be held in May next year, a South Korean government think tank said Tuesday.
A proper coup takes time to plot, even if it seems spontaneous (example: Romania). If you're an older Nork general or colonel, it's time to start planning before Pudgy stands you in front of an anti-aircraft gun.
The reclusive North is also unlikely to conduct a nuclear test in 2016, raising the possibility of a breakthrough in efforts to resume the six-way talks, according to the Korea Institute for National Unification (KINU).

It noted that the North's Workers' Party of Korea plans to hold its first congress since 1980 in May next year.

Chances are high that it will set the stage for a "political ceremony for the full-scale resignation of the second revolutionary generation led by Choe Ryong-hae and the rise of the third and fourth revolutionary generations to power," the institute said in a report on the outlook for next year's security situation involving the North.

Choe, a party secretary, was one of the closest confidants to Kim but he has reportedly been demoted and underwent "re-education" as a punishment for an unconfirmed reason.

As to the scheduled party congress to be attended by more than 3,000 officials, the KINU said it would introduce more new faces in the ruling elite rather than fresh policies.

"A new line-up of power elites in the Kim Jong-un administration will be revealed," it said, adding Kim is apparently confident of his grip on state affairs. "That would have been a basis for Kim Jong-un's decision to open the 7th party congress in 2016."

The institute expects Fat Boy Kim to offer an olive branch toward the South in his New Year speech.

    Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Hebron area is major source of Palestinian stabbers, data shows
[IsraelTimes] Few of the 130 attackers in last three months come from refugee camps; average profile is single, male, aged 21

The West Bank city of Hebron has been a hotbed for Paleostinian attackers over the past three months, according to figures released by the Israeli defense establishment on Wednesday.

Of 130 Paleostinians who carried out attacks against security personnel and civilians, 28 came from Hebron and 19 from the villages around the city, which lies 30 kilometers (19 miles) south of Jerusalem. Thirty hailed from East Jerusalem, and the rest from other areas in the West Bank.

The data did not include the most recent terror attacks, including a car-ramming in Jerusalem on Monday, which was carried out by a resident of Hebron and injured 14 people.

In total, 115 of the attackers were men and 15 women. The overwhelming majority, 110, were single and their average age was 21. Only four were parents.

Fourteen of the assailants came from refugee camps, among them eight from Qalandiya and Shuafat in East Jerusalem. The low number of refugee camps residents taking part in the attacks stands in contrast to their high involvement in violence during the first and second intifadas -- Paleostinian uprisings during the late 1980s and early 2000s, respectively.

Security officials noted that only a few of those who carried out attacks were affiliated with terror groups and none of them had acted on the direct orders of such groups. Two were members from Hizbut Tahrir
...an al-Qaeda recruiting organization banned in most countries. It calls for the reestablishment of the Caliphate...
    , an extreme Salafist group.

Since the latest wave of Paleostinian terrorism and violence began in September, more than 20 Israelis have been killed in near-daily stabbing, shooting, and car-ramming attacks by Paleostinians. More than 100 Paleostinians have been killed, most of them assailants shot as they carried out attacks, including some who were teenagers. Other Paleostinians have been killed in festivities with Israeli security forces.
There are also car rammers and general rioters slinging rocks and rolling flaming tires at IDF troops. My impression is that the latter are mostly from Hebron and Gaza, though the riots have not been as often reported on. Perhaps gr(o)mgoru or lord garth has better perspective in that.

    Africa Subsaharan
30 Dead in Boko Haram Attack on Three Nigeria Villages
[AnNahar] Brutal weekend attacks on three villages by Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
Islamists in the restive northeast of Nigeria have left 30 dead and 20 others maimed, a vigilante told AFP.

"Most of the victims were slaughtered and most of the maimed (had suffered) machete cuts," Mustapha Karimbe, a civilian helping the Nigerian military fight Boko Haram, said of Saturday's attacks in the villages of Warwara, Mangari and Bura-Shika in Borno state.

News of the attacks has been slow to emerge because telecom masts in the area have been destroyed in previous Boko Haram raids, hindering communication.

The Islamists invaded the villages, hacking and slaughtering their victims before setting the villages on fire.

The villages are near Buratai, the hometown of Nigeria's highest military chief Tukur Yusuf Buratai.

‎Warwara, where 20 people were killed, was the worst affected, said Musa Suleiman, another vigilante.

The attackers killed six people in Bura-Shika and another four in Mangari, he said.

The latest deaths take the number of people killed in Nigeria since President Muhammadu Buhari took office in May to more than 1,530, according to an AFP tally.

Residents of the villages fled to Biu, 30 kilometers (19 miles) away.

Buratai and nearby settlements have recently been the targets of deadly raids by Boko Haram, which have left scores dead and entire villages looted and burnt down.

Residents believe the attacks are in response to the pressure that the army chief is exerting on Boko Haram in counter-insurgency military operations.

On Thursday Boko Haram gunnies killed 14 people -- decapitating some of them -- when they raided Kamuya village, the hometown of the army chief's mother, and burnt it down.

Nigeria's government has vowed to end the Boko Haram insurgency by this month but the deadline looks likely to be missed as attacks persist.

The Islamists' grip on the region has suffered as a result of offensives launched by local armies, leading to raids like Saturday's becoming rarer.

There has, however, been a spike in suicide kabooms in Nigeria and neighboring Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
    , Chad and Niger.

At least 17,000 people have been killed since the conflict began in 2009.

A new 8,700-strong Multi-national Joint Task Force (MNJTF) comprising troops from Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Cameroon and Benin was supposed to have been deployed in late July.

    But the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
-backed force has yet to start operations, with no reason given for the lengthening delay and questions over whether the countries have the resources to commit.

    The Grand Turk
Turkey steps up security operations in southeast, nine killed
[AlAhram] Turkish security forces stepped up operations targeting Kurdish bully boyz in southeastern towns on Wednesday, security sources said, as pro-government media detailed plans for a 10,000-strong force to restore state control in the region.

The mainly Kurdish southeast has been beset by conflict between the police and armed forces and Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) fighters since July, when a ceasefire collapsed and left in tatters a grinding of the peace processor launched three years ago.

Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu pledged on Tuesday to prevent the PKK "spreading the fire" from Syria and Iraq to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
by imposing control in towns, like the army has done in mountainous areas where the bully boyz are active.

One person was killed in a clash in Cizre near the Syrian border, which was placed under curfew on Monday evening, state officials said. Kurdish Firat news agency described an 11-year-old boy as being rubbed out.

Turkish military also said eight Kurdish bully boyz were killed in Cizre on Tuesday after they shot at the soldiers during an operation.

Residents of Silopi, 30 km (20 miles) away near the Iraqi border, said kabooms rocked the town early on Wednesday and deputies from the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) said security forces had begun raiding houses.

"In Silopi, soldiers and police have started to break down doors and conduct raids on houses," HDP Sirnak deputy Aycan Irmez wrote on Twitter alongside a photo showing dozens of soldiers gathered on a pavement.

"Throughout the night and particularly around 2-3:30 a.m, we heard the noise of intense shelling," one resident who declined to be named told Rooters. "It is impossible for us to go outside and look. Even going out on the balcony is risky," he added.

Haberturk newspaper said some 10,000 police and gendarmerie troops were to be deployed in a major operation against PKK hard boys, removing ditches and barricades erected by them in urban areas to obstruct the movement of security forces.

    Operations To Continue
"Today's operation and the ones that will follow are essential," Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Simsek said in an interview with broadcaster Bloomberg HT. "How can you have bandidos going down into the towns? We will conduct this struggle in a powerful way and continue to do so."

Another HDP deputy, Ferhat Encu, wrote on Twitter that security forces, backed by tanks, had launched attacks in Silopi and that the town's state hospital was being used as a base for soldiers and police.

On Tuesday, a roadside kaboom destroyed an armoured vehicle and killed three coppers in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir.

HDP co-leader Figen Yuksekdag told deputies from the party in Diyarbakir on Tuesday that 200,000 people had been displaced in the southeast in recent months as a result of conflict hitting areas under curfew where some 1.3 million people live.

"The Turkish Republic is conducting a special law and special war against one part of society: the Kurds. If the people of Turkey turn their backs to this reality everyone will lose," she said.

The PKK launched its insurgency in 1984 and more than 40,000 people have been killed in the conflict. Peace talks between its tossed in the calaboose

Chattanooga shooting a 'terror attack' sez Comey
FBI Director James Comey twice called the deadly Chattanooga shooting that killed four Marines and one sailor a “terror attack” during a press conference with NYPD commissioner Bill Bratton on Wednesday. Bratton and Comey spoke after addressing the NYPD Shield Conference in New York City.
All the while Obama was saying that it wasn't...
...and the White House angry with him for saying that about San Bernardino. I believe the term is "doubling down."
“We’ve investigated Chattanooga as a terror attack from the beginning,” Comey said. “The Chattanooga killer was inspired by a foreign terror organization. It’s hard to entangle which particular source…there are lots of competing poisons out there.”

“We’ve investigated Chattanooga as a terror attack from the beginning."

    - James Comey, FBI director
That response came as Comey was asked to clarify an earlier statement in which he linked the root cause of the July 16 rampage by Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born in Kuwait, to the recent Islamic terrorist attack in San Bernardino.

“San Bernardino, as with Chattanooga, another terror attack we’ve dealt with in recent times…” Comey began the answer to a question about the Dec. 2 terror attack in California.

Abdulazeez, 24, was fatally shot by police after opening fire at a military recruiting center and then driving to a reserve center, where he killed five.

Hours after Comey designated the shootings as terrorism, the Secretary of the Navy announced that the victims of those attacks will receive the Purple Heart.

"Although the Purple Heart can never possibly replace this brave Sailor and these brave Marines, it is my hope that as their families and the entire Department of the Navy team continue to mourn their loss, these awards provide some small measure of solace," said Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus. "Their heroism and service to our nation will be remembered always."
And I'll bet Ray was gritting his teeth the entire time.
During the five months since the Chattanooga attacks, law enforcement officials and the Obama administration have seemingly had some reluctance to label that act a terrorist deed. Then-U.S. Attorney Bill Killian said Chattanooga was being investigated as an act of “domestic terrorism” during a news conference on the day of the shooting – but he walked back that terminology moments later, saying the investigation would ultimately determine if the rampage was terrorism.
    And now, Mr. Killian?
Killian resigned in November to join a national law firm. His last day was Dec. 5.
    How .. convenient...
The following evening, during an address to the nation, President Obama took another step toward defining Chattanooga more clearly.

“As we’ve become better at preventing complex, multifaceted attacks like 9/11, terrorists turned to less complicated acts of violence like the mass shootings that are all too common in our society,” Obama said. “It is this type of attack that we saw at Fort Hood in 2009. In Chattanooga earlier this year. And now in San Bernardino.”
Now that he can't deny it, he'll try to use it as an excuse to grab our guns...
Further clarification could come soon as an updated statement on the attack was expected to come this week, an FBI spokeswoman for the Knoxville office told FoxNews.com on Wednesday.

    China-Japan-Koreas
US to sell arms at $1.83 billion to Taiwan
The US administration formally notified Congress on Wednesday of a $1.83 billion arms sale package for Taiwan, including two frigates, anti-tank missiles, amphibious assault vehicles and other equipment, despite opposition from China, Reuters reported.
I'll bet the smog isn't the only thing causing the Commie leaders to choke in Beijing this evening...
The authorization came a year after Congress passed legislation approving the sale. It is the first such major arms sale to Taiwan in more than four years.

The White House said there was no change in the longstanding US "one China" policy. Past US weapons sales to Taiwan have attracted strong condemnation in China, which considers Taiwan a renegade province. A spokesman for the White House's National Security Council said the authorization followed previous sales notifications by the administration totaling over $12 billion under the Taiwan Relations Act.

"Our longstanding policy on arms sales to Taiwan has been consistent across six different US administrations," the spokesman, Myles Caggins, said, while adding: "We remain committed to our one-China policy."

Although Washington does not recognize Taiwan as a separate state from China, it is committed under the Taiwan Relations Act to ensuring Taipei can maintain a credible defense.

The new sales come at a period of heightened tensions between the United States and China over the South China Sea, where Washington has been critical of China's building of man-made islands to assert expansive territorial claims.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said this week that Beijing opposed US arms sales to Taiwan as "an interference in China's internal affairs."

Hong said such sales "damaged the peaceful development of ties across the Taiwan Strait and Sino-US ties and said Beijing urged Washington "to earnestly recognize the high sensitivity and serious harm of weapons sales to Taiwan."

David McKeeby, a spokesman for the US State Department, said the package was aimed at "supporting Taiwan’s efforts to develop more innovative and asymmetric defensive capabilities."

He said it included two Perry-class guided-missile frigates; $57 million of Javelin anti-tank missiles made by Raytheon and Lockheed Martin; $268 million of TOW 2B anti-tank missiles and $217 million of Stinger surface-to-air missiles made by Raytheon, and $375 million of AAV-7 Amphibious Assault Vehicles.

The State Department said the frigates were being offered as surplus items at a cost of $190 million. The package also includes $416 million of guns, upgrade kits, ammunition and support for Raytheon's Close-in Weapons System.

Analysts and congressional sources believe the delay in the formal approval of the sales was due to the Obama administration's desire to maintain stable working relations with China, an increasingly powerful strategic rival but also a vital economic partner as the world's second-largest economy. Most recently the administration was working with Beijing to forge a landmark global climate agreement that was sealed on Saturday after two weeks of intense negotiations.

While Taiwan has been overshadowed recently as a US-China issue by the South China Sea, it has the potential to flare up again, especially with Taiwanese elections coming up next month. Taiwan is to elect a new president, with Tsai Ing-wen of the independence-leaning opposition Democratic Progressive Party the favorite to win. China has warned it will never accept an independent Taiwan.

US Republican lawmakers said on Wednesday they were pleased the administration had authorized the sale but called for a more regular process for such transactions. Senator John McCain, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said this would "avoid extended periods in which fear of upsetting the US-China relationship may harm Taiwan’s defense capabilities."

    Arabia
    Yemen sides agree prisoner swap
    What's left of them, anyway.
ADEN/GENEVA: Yemen’s warring parties agreed on Wednesday to exchange hundreds of prisoners in a move aimed at supporting UN-sponsored peace talks which resumed for a second day in Switzerland, as reported fighting and airstrikes appeared to violate a cease-fire.

A seven-day truce, timed to coincide with the peace talks, began at mid-day on Tuesday to halt fighting in nine months of civil war between the Iran-allied Houthi movement based in Yemen’s north and Saudi-backed southern and eastern fighters loyal to President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi.

The prisoner swap would be one of the most positive signs yet in the civil war, which has killed almost 6,000 people and drawn in foreign powers.

Some 360 members of the Houthi movement held in Aden would be exchanged for 265 southern civilians and fighters, and both groups were en route by bus toward the exchange venue in central Yemen according to officials from the warring sides.

The fragile cease-fire appeared to be generally holding Wednesday despite breaches.

Although fighting has subsided, both sides traded blame for violations that have left at least 24 people dead since the truce began at midday (0900 GMT) Tuesday.

The Saudi-led coalition accused the Houthi Shiite rebels of flouting the cease-fire from its very first hours, and acknowledged that it had “responded to these violations”.

The rebels, meanwhile, accused the coalition of breaking the truce immediately after it began by carrying out “a series of raids on various provinces”.

A spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition, Brigadier General Ahmed Al-Assiri, said that the alliance’s leadership “realizes that this is an important and crucial phase to find a peaceful solution, but has a military commitment to respond to violations.”

Italy sends troops to protect Iraq’s Mosul Dam
It's not just American sneakers on the ground...
[Rudaw] Italia's Prime Minister Matteo Renzi announced Wednesday that his country will dispatch 450 soldiers to protect Iraq's djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
    Dam installation.

The Italian prime minister told national TV, according to AFP that after "an Italian company" requested the dam be protected he intends to "send 450 of our men there to help protect it alongside the Americans."

Renzi pointed out that the dam is situated in the middle "of a dangerous zone, on the border with ISIS. It is seriously damaged and risks collapse."

There have long been fears that the dam would collapse and endanger the lives of millions of Iraqis due to its closeness to Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. (ISIS) territory and the dam's deteriorating structure.

The director of the dam, Riyaz Izzadin, told Rudaw earlier this month that, "If it collapses, most of the city of Mosul will be flooded and up to half a million people could immediately be endangered."

"The U.S. personnel are frequently visiting the dam and are well aware of the dangers, but they don't want to say it to us openly," he added.

According to AFP the Italian Trevi conglomerate has a $2 billion contract to shore-up the dam.

ISIS briefly occupied the dam in August 2014 before they were pushed back by the Kurdish Peshmerga forces backed by US air support.
    An Nahar adds:
So far the security situation has been too precarious for the work to shore up the dam to begin.

The 450 Italian troops will be in addition to the 750 already on the ground in Iraq as part of international efforts.

Mistrial declared in trial of Officer William Porter in death of Freddie Gray
[BALTIMORESUN] A mistrial was declared Wednesday in the trial of Baltimore Police Officer William G. Porter, after jurors told a judge it could not reach a verdict on any of the four charges against him.

"I do declare a mistrial," Judge Barry G. Williams announced in a downtown courtroom.

Porter, 26, was charged with involuntary manslaughter, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and misconduct in office. He is the first of six city coppers to stand trial in the death of Freddie Gray.

Attorneys are expected to appear in court Thursday morning in front of an administrative judge to pick a retrial date. Porter is not scheduled to attend.

Kurds clash with regime troops in Syria’s Qamishli
[ARA News] QAMISHLI – Clashes broke out in Syria’s northeastern city of Qamishli between Kurdish security forces of the Asayish and pro-Assad fighters, security sources and eyewitnesses reported on Wednesday.

The clashes, which were described by activists as ‘rare’ since both sides were cooperating in protecting the city against jihadist groups, have caused the injury of two regime fighters and one Kurdish member of the Asayish.

“Both sides exchanged fire from their security checkpoints in central Qamishli, which caused a state of panic among civilians,” an eyewitness told ARA News.

The Asayish and regime troops have installed separate security checkpoints in the city and its entrances in a bid to prevent movement of suspected jihadists across the city, as battles continue between the Kurdish fighters of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and allied rebels on the one hand, and militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) on the other hand, in the countryside of Qamishli and other areas of Hasakah province in northeastern Syria.

The clashes come after Kurdish security forces arrested some nine regime fighters on Tuesday midnight after one of them opened fire on Kurdish traffic police in the city. The regime forces responded by arresting three Asayish members on Wednesday afternoon, a Kurdish security official told ARA News in Qamishli.

In the meantime, pro-Assad armed units of the National Defence Force in Qamishli arrested dozens of young men in the city under the pretext of military conscription, which raised the anger of the Kurdish authorities that had established a so-called Auto-Administration together with local Christian and Arab groups in northern Syria to run the three regions of Qamishli, Kobane and Afrin.

    Britain
UK Terror-Related Arrests Reach Record High
[AnNahar] The number of terror suspects apprehended in Britannia has reached a record high, fueled by a surge in arrests related to international terror, according to official figures released Thursday.

A Home Office (interior ministry) report said there were 315 terror-related arrests in the year to September -- an increase of a third over the preceding 12 months.

There was a 31-percent increase to 238 in the number of arrests on suspicion of international-related terror offenses, the figures showed.

    The number of women jugged
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
more than doubled from 21 to 50, while the number of under-18s detained jumped from eight to 15.

"The majority of the increase in the number of women getting arrested has been linked to international-related terrorism," the Home Office said.

Of those arrested, four out of five were British or held British dual nationality -- up from 56 percent when data collection began on September 11, 2001.

"There was a 41 percent increase in the number of persons arrested who considered themselves to be Asian, and a 25 percent increase in the number that considered themselves to be white," the report said.

Some 51 people faced prosecution for terror-related offenses in the year to September, up from 30 in the previous year.

Of those, 43 were convicted -- 28 having pleaded guilty -- and eight were acquitted.

"We are determined to detect, disrupt and where possible prosecute all terrorist threats to the UK," said Security Minister John Hayes.
Don't forget to go after the homegrown rape-grooming groups, too. That kind of soft jihad is just as important in regaining control of your territory.

    Europe
Suspects in Paris, Brussels attacks may be linked
[IsraelTimes] Man believed to have chauffeured bandidos bandidos turbans in November attack in La Belle France befriended gunman in attack on Belgium Jewish museum

A Muslim man accused of helping stage the recent attacks in Gay Paree befriended the alleged Brussels Jewish museum killer while in prison.

Mohammed Amri, who French police believe acted as a chauffeur for some of the bandidos bandidos turbans who killed 130 people in Gay Paree last month, became friends with Mehdi Nemmouche in a Belgian prison, the Gay Paree Match weekly reported last week. The report was based on an investigation led by the Phlegmish-language Het Nieuwsblad newspaper.

Nemmouche is standing trial for the May 2014 attack at the Jewish Museum of Belgium, which killed four people.

Amri is said to have helped Salah Abdeslam, an Islamist thought to be one of the criminal masterminds of the November 13 attacks, flee the Gay Paree region for Belgium. Amri denies the charges.

Abdeslam is the subject of an ongoing international manhunt. According to Gay Paree Match, Belgian authorities learned that Abdeslam may have been hiding in an apartment in the heavily Muslim Brussels neighborhood of Mollenbeek on the night of November 15, but did not storm the locale until the morning of November 16, since Belgian law prohibits searches in homes between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. except in the case of fire or a serious crime in progress. By the time police raided the apartment, Abdeslam had already left.
I wonder if there's a Sharia4Belgium connection -- a few years ago they were sending lots of lads to join the jihad in Syria...

Iraq parliament agrees on 17 percent budget share for KRG
Getting them to actually pay it has been a separate issue, which is why, as I recall, Erbil keeps Turkey's oil payments rather than passing them through to Baghdad.

's Shiite Dawa party to cut the annual allocation.

"The Iraqi parliament passed and fixed the Kurdistan region's 17 percent budget share," Sarhan Ahmed, a Kurdish MP in the Iraqi parliament, told Rudaw.

He explained that the proposal to keep the allocation at 17 percent -- as specified in the Iraqi constitution -- was accepted despite opposition by the Dawa bloc, which on Monday had proposed a reduction to 13 percent.

Ahmed said Maliki's bloc had asked for yet another hearing on the proposal, but "the parliament speaker rejected their call and considered it illegal."

The proposal to cut Kurdistan's share of the budget was condemned by Kurdish MPs in the Iraqi parliament at an emergency session on Tuesday.

Iraq's Minister of Finance Hoshyar Zebari has warned that "reducing Kurdistan's share of the budget would dismantle Iraq's political process."

15 Kurdish fighters killed in car bomb attack in north Iraq
[ARA News] ERBIL – At least 15 Kurdish soldiers of the Peshmerga army were killed in an offensive by militant fighters of the Islamic State (ISIS) in northern Iraq, military sources confirmed on Wednesday.

ISIS militants carried out two car bomb attacks on Kurdish security checkpoints near the town of Shingal (Sinjar) in northern Iraq, killing 15 Peshmerga soldiers and wounding ten others.

A spokesman for the Peshmerga described the attack as the “fiercest” since the Kurdish troops retook the Yezidi region of Shingal from ISIS militants last month.

“The wounded were transferred to Duhok city in Kurdistan Region for treatment,” the source told ARA News.

“We consider this terror attack an infiltration into our headquarters in this area. We have been working on dismantling land-mines planted by the terror group before its withdrawal from Shingal and we will further fortify every area we retake in order to prevent such incidents.”

Kenya Charges Man For Alleged 'Attack' Plot
[AnNahar] A Kenyan man has been charged with receiving Iranian training in Iraq to carry out attacks in the east African country.

Kenyan police say Yassin Sambai Juma, 25, was trained by Iran's elite Quds Force -- claims denied by Tehran, and was charged in court on Monday.

    He was incarcerated
You have the right to remain silent...
along with another Kenyan man in Nairobi last month, Abubakar Sadiq Louw, 69, who has not been charged.

The charge sheet only mentions Iraq.

Juma is accused of having traveled to Karbala in Iraq where he "received training or instruction in the practice of military exercise... for the preparation to engage in the commission of a terrorist act."

Police chief Joseph Boinett last month said he believed the two arrested men had traveled to Iran several times.

"We have irrefutable evidence they were recruited into an Iranian spying ring," Boinett said after the arrests, claiming the men plotted "terror attacks" in Nairobi.

Iran's embassy in Kenya has denied any links to the two Kenyan men.

Iranians are treated with particular suspicion in Kenya, which is a close ally of Israel.

In May 2013, a Kenyan court sentenced two Iranians to life in prison on terror-related charges, including possessing explosives allegedly to be used in kabooms.

US, Japan agree on deal to offset costs of US military presence
The United States and Japan have agreed on a $1.6 billion five-year cost sharing deal to support US military forces on the island nation, spokesmen for the US departments of Defense and State announced, Sputnik reported.

“[By Japan] covering a share of our costs for the base workforce… this host-nation support package will help sustain the US military presence in Japan, a key part of the United States’ rebalance to Asia and the Pacific,” Defense Department spokesman Jeff Davis said on Wednesday.

The agreement takes effect on April 1, 2016, and will directly support the operational readiness of US forces in Japan, the official Defense Department News reported.

“Japan remained a key partner in the US military rebalance,” State Department spokesman John Kirby told his daily briefing.

Washington and Tokyo have been negotiating for the agreement since July 2015, Nikkei Asian Review reported on December 12. Japan wanted to cut its support payments because of financial problems, but the United States insisted on its terms being met, the report said.

    Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Four more Iranians killed in Syria clashes
Four more Iranians and one Afghan citizen were killed in Syrian conflict in the recent days, the official IRNA news agency reported. Reportedly, all those killed, were buried in various cities in Iran. It hasn’t been revealed in what region of Syria they were killed.

Meanwhile, in recent months, Iran’s IRGC has lost about 50 of its servicemen in Syria.
Sucks to be a tool of a repressive regime...
Tehran has always expressed support for the Syrian government since it views the Assad regime as its main strategic ally in the region and as part of an "axis of resistance" against Israel.
