In a first, new Egyptian schoolbook teaches peace deal with Israel
[IsraelTimes] In other changes to curriculum, Mubarak's role in Yom Kippur War is played down, content added during Moslem Brüderbund's rule is removed

The peace treaty signed between Israel and Egypt in 1979 will for the first time be taught in Egyptian schools, Army Radio reported Tuesday.

The station said a news hound had read the new schoolbook on Egypt's modern history, which includes a chapter dealing with the Camp David agreement.

The peace deal is described in a matter-of-fact way, without bias or any attempt to present Israel in a negative light, the report said.

The authors of the Egyptian schoolbook, intended for the ninth grade, detail eight clauses from the agreement, which are reproduced in the book verbatim. These include phrases on Israel and Egypt"ending the state of war" and on "each side respecting the illusory sovereignty and independence of the other side."

The paragraphs describing the subsequent murder of Egyptian president Anwar Sadat, who signed the treaty and made a historic speech at the Israeli Knesset, do not mention that he was murdered by activists who objected to the peace accord.

The authors note that Sadat and then-Israeli prime minister Menachem Begin won the Nobel Peace Prize for signing the treaty. "The reason they won was the great effort they invested in reaching peace in the Middle East," the book says.

According to Army Radio, the new inclusion of the peace treaty is part of an overarching change in the contents of schoolbooks for all grades announced by the Egyptian Education Ministry two years ago. Content in some 1,300 different books was changed and in some instances the changes were decisively political, said Army Radio.

Among the changes, Hosni Mubarak
...The former President-for-Life of Egypt, dumped by popular demand in early 2011...
's role in the Yom Kippur War, in which he served as commander of the Egyptian air force, was marginalized when compared to its portrayal during his tenure as the country's president. Mubarak was removed from power in the Arab Spring demonstrations of 2011, following 30 years of rule.

Additionally, some content added to books during the short presidency of the Moslem Brüderbund's Mohammed Morsi (2012-2013) was removed. These additions preached a return to Islamic values in line with the Brotherhood's Islamic ideology. Morsi was deposed in 2013 by then-army chief and current President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, and his movement was banned.

#1  It may not mean much to you, but THAT is a significant move.

Egypt is on the right track, which is more than I can say about most Nations in the region.

Sisi is really serious about getting some Real stability there. But it will take many more reformers after him to get it even close to a normal, peaceful, Prosperous Country.

But I want to say, I do see his Heart is true. He really is kind of alone out there right now. I was hoping he would have more help from US.

Obama's rudeness hits new heights with Scalia, Schumer
{NY Post] Gratuitous. Nasty. Petty. Spiteful. Insulting. Just plain rude. When the rhetoric of a major party's leading presidential candidate falls to this level, we should be scornful.

So, how is it OK when it isn't just a presidential candidate, but a president, who does it?

Donald Trump's policy of demeaning and snarking his political opponents has been a favorite habit of President Obama for the last eight years. Obama is perhaps the first president who believes that leading the country and playing to the beliefs of the extremists in his own party amount to the same thing, and like Trump fans, Obama fans are motivated in large degree by sheer hatred.

They love to hear their idol channel their rage by bashing people they don't like.

Obama's latest, silent insult -- leaving a spokesman to explain he had better things to do on a Saturday than attend the funeral of a 30-year justice of the Supreme Court -- isn't surprising when you consider the mean-spirited things he says virtually every time he steps in front of a microphone.

This week Obama spokesman Josh Earnest bashed Sen. Chuck Schumer, who objected to cuts in counterterrorism funding for New York. Earnest said, in essence, why listen to this fool on anything if he opposed the Iran deal, especially since "most Democrats" were in favor?

Police Commissioner Bill Bratton noted, accurately, that this was pure politics -- the president was punishing New York to get back at Schumer.

In Heated Interview, Shaun King Says He's '€˜Blacker' Than Black Radio Host Jason Whitlock
[Daily Caller] New York Daily News columnist-activist Shaun King, whose racial background is the subject of some speculation, said during a heated radio interview on Friday that he was "blacker" than black radio host Jason Whitlock.

Whitlock and King met on air to discuss King's recent story about sexual assault allegations made against quarterback Peyton Manning in 1996 when he was a student at the University of Tennessee.

King published a 74-page "statement of fact" by a university trainer, Dr. Jamie Naughright, who alleged that Manning placed his backside, testicles and rectum on her face while she was inspecting his foot.

Whitlock accused King, one of the leaders of the Black Lives Matter movement, of going after Manning because he is white. The Daily News piece ran after King wrote several articles complaining about how the media treated Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, who is black, after his team's loss to Manning's Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl.
From a comment at the Instapundit post on this:

There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.

'€˜Islam Can't Be Modernised' Sez World's '€˜Greatest Arabic Poet'
[Breitbart London] The writer regarded as the greatest Arabic language poet alive today has said Islam cannot be modernised.

Adunis Asbar, known by his pen name Adonis, is a Syrian-born writer often considered one of the greatest living poets of the Arabic language. He has come under criticism for comments he made recently about Islam before receiving the Erich Maria Remarque Peace Prize, named after the famous pacifist and author of the classic World War One novel 'All Quiet on the Western Front'.

In an interview with Die Welt he talked about one of the most pressing issues in Germany since the migrant crisis began, the idea of being able to integrate migrants from predominately Muslim countries into European societies.

Being raised a Muslim himself and having one of the greatest understandings of the language of the Quran, Adonis said: "You can not reform a religion. If they are reformed, [the original meaning] is separated from it. Therefore, modern Muslims and a modern Islam is already impossible. If there is no separation between religion and state, there will be no democracy especially without equality for women. Then we will keep a theocratic system. So it will end."

#6  I met Herr Remarque in Switzerland one day while I was wandering around the back waters of that beautiful country.

He drove this magnificent pre-war Lancia sedan about the size of a B-17.

When he found out I was in the Army, he offered to autograph a copy of his book for me. Luckily and coincidentally I was reading "All's Quiet on the Western Front" at the time and had it in my car. I have a paperback copy of the book in a box in my office autographed by the old gentleman.

I don't think pacifist fits. A pacifist is someone who will not fight no matter what. Anti-war is what he is. You can be anti-war and not be a pacifist.

#7  "Put another way, a modern or moderate Islam would require an entirely different doctrine such that it would cease to be Islam in any sense but name."

Without Shariah Law, essentially what is Islam?

I thought about this. An empty shell. Ergo, it cannot be used to un-duely influence, Coerce, force dictatorial, power or tax people for being themselves.

The moderate muslim is one who is not really Muslim but fears to leave the religion. When folks talk about Mulsims these are not the people conservatives are talking about.

And Herein lies the matter that matters. So, what shall fill the vacuum of Islam? I sure wonder.

The Bible? Naaa, too good for Civilization.

Rubio Slams Breitbart: '€˜Not a Credible Source,' '€˜Basically Conspiracy Theories'
[Breitbart] Saturday during Fox News Channel's special coverage of the South Carolina Republican Primary, Sen. The report cited ICE Council president Chris Crane, who is also an active duty ICE officer, who Rubio dismissed as well as Breitbart News.

Taliban bomb kill 6 member of a single family in Paktika province
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] At least six members of a single family were killed in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) kaboom in eastern Paktika
...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo...
province of Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) said the incident took place on Thursday afternoon at 2:00 pm in the vicinity of Wazkhwa district.

MoI said the civilians were travelling in a cycle of violence when it struck an IED planted by Talibs, leaving six dead, including four children.

The Talibs group has not commented regarding the incident so far which comes amid rampant insurgency led by the group across the country during the recent months.

Paktika is among the relatively volatile provinces in eastern Afghanistan where Lions of Islam both from the Taliban group and the notorious Haqqani terrorist network are actively operating in a number of its districts.

The anti-government armed snuffies are frequently using Improvised Explosive Device (IED) as the weapon of their choice to target the security forces but in majority of such attacks the civilians are targeted.

Artillery, small arms fire continues in Donetsk

Both sides in this civil war continue to exchange artillery and small arms fire despite a ceasefire, according to Russian language news accounts.

According to the Donetsk ministry of defnese in a news release, Ukrainian military units fired on Russian backed separatists 50 times in the last 24 hours, using mortar, RPG and small arms fire. The report said that Ukrainian fire appeared to come from Opytnoye and western sectors of Donetsk city.

Ukrainian official sources said that the separatists have violated the ceasefire 24 times, firing 82mm mortars and small arms fire at their positions in Krasnogorovka, Peski and Marinka.

According to official Ukrainian reports, Ukrainian troops caught and turned back a separatist probe in Lugansk near Mayorsk and Zaisteyo.

Intense Gun Battles in Gorlovka

According to two separate news reports posted in Russian reserve FSB Colonel Igor Girkin news website, novorusinform.org, long lastly intensive artillery and small arms duels have been taking place over the last 24 hours in Gorlovka, which is north of Donetsk city.

Quoting reports from unidentified local militants, the shooting near Gorlovka began at 1900 hrs Saturday and continued intermittently for nearly three hours. Weapons the militants said were used included mortar fire, tank gunfire and small arms fire. Much of the shooting emanated from Dzherzinsk, which is less than a kilometer from the western outskirts of Gorlovka.

The same article said that fire fights took place in northern Lugansk as well.

A second article said that Ukrainian forces fired on several rebel held areas including Spartak, the airport and western districts of Donetsk city.

Ukrainian press has not described any rebel counterfire in Gorlovka in their news reports, official or not.

Col. Girkin was the main Russian operative in the Russian takeover in Crimea and a major factor in the early stages of the civil war in southeastern Ukraine.

35 ISIS Bad Guys have a Very Bad Day in Raqqa
[ARA News] KOBANE – Clashes broke out on Saturday between Kurdish fighters from the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the Islamic State’s (ISIS) militants in northern Raqqa, military sources reported.

The clashes centered in the vicinity of Tishreen Dam in the northwestern countryside of Raqqa, where the YPG and allies from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) repelled an attack by ISIS militants on the strategic dam.

“A group of Daesh terrorists attacked our headquarters near Tishreen Dam on Saturday evening. The group has used heavy machine guns and mortar fire in the offensive,” YPG spokesman Hebun Osman told ARA News, using an acronym for ISIS. “The group then tried to infiltrate into our command center east of the dam, which led to clashes that claimed lives of dozens of Daesh members.”

“The YPG and allied units of the SDF were eventually able to repel the attack. We have collected dead bodies of 38 Daesh terrorists after the clashes on Saturday midnight,” the official said, adding that seven Kurdish fighters were killed and a number of others injured in the clashes.

The Kurdish-Arab alliance of the SDF had recaptured the Tishreen Dam on the Euphrates River in December, subsequent to clashes with ISIS militants. The dam had severed over nearly two years as a main supply line for ISIS between the northern countryside of Aleppo and Raqqa–ISIS de facto capital in Syria.

On Friday, the western-backed SDF expelled ISIS militant fighters from the city of Shaddadi–ISIS main bastion in Syria’s northeastern Hasakah province.

ISIS said it was their assassins in Faisalabad
FAISALABAD: The Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the killing of three police personnel in Faisalabad, police said on Saturday.

On Friday, two men riding a motorcycle opened fire on three personnel, including an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), of the Punjab Highway Patrol near Merawala Bangla. As a result, three policemen were killed.

A police investigator said they had seized 40 pamphlets of the IS from the crime scene, claiming responsibility for the attack. He said the militant group also threatened more attacks on the law enforcement agencies.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan reiterated on February 13 that IS had no presence in Pakistan. He said that some terrorist organisations functioning in the country were using IS’s name. Besides police, other law enforcement agencies have also initiated investigations to find clues to IS’s involvement in the recent terrorist attacks. Another investigator said that security officials were trying to find out if IS or some local religious group was involved in the recent terrorist attacks.

46 dead in Homs bomb attack
At least 46 people have been killed in a double car bombing in the Syrian city of Homs, a monitoring group has said.

Most of the dead appear to be civilians, according to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

It is not yet clear who was behind the bombing but the so-called Islamic State (IS) has targeted the area in the past.

Meanwhile US Secretary of State John Kerry has said a "provisional agreement" has been reached with Russia on a partial truce in the conflict.

After speaking with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, Mr Kerry said the world was "closer to a ceasefire today than we have been".
Earlier this month, world powers involved in Syria agreed to seek a "cessation of hostilities" but the Friday deadline has come and gone.

Mr Kerry said on Sunday that he and Mr Lavrov had agreed the terms of the cessation but stressed that details still needed to be resolved.

Peshawar's Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) jointly raided houses in Bhana Mari along Kohat Road and arrested Rashid Baloch, alias 'Chichi' after receiving a tip-off that the gangster was currently in Peshawar, waiting for a new passport to flee abroad.

According to initial investigations, Baloch had fled to Peshawar because of the Rangers-led Karachi operation, which began in 2013.

Bush gives contrite dropout speech with shots at Trump
[CNN] Jeb Bush just wrapped a speech dropping out the race. The moment he delivered the news, his supporters gathered at the results party -- which didn't have any TVs -- let out an audible gasp, followed by awkward silence. After Bush said, "yeah," they applauded.

"The people of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina have spoken, and I truly respect their decision. And so tonight I am suspending my campaign," he said.

Bush said he has run a campaign as he pledged: "Going everywhere, speaking to everyone, keeping my word, facing the issues without flinching and staying true to what I believe."

But he also took plenty of shots at GOP front-runner Donald Trump, with whom he has clashed in increasingly personal ways.

"The presidency is bigger than any one person, it is certainly bigger than any candidate," Bush said. "I firmly believe the American people must entrust this office to someone who understands that whoever holds it is the servant and not the master."

The melancholy Bush said he has the "best landing" possible. "Tonight I'm going to sleep with the best friend I have and the love of my life," he said, embracing his wife, Columba.

#13  It is really so simple. Calling Trump names. Calling his supporters low information people. Ignores the obvious. He has the following of Americans. He could have been Democrat. He could have been and may yet be an independent, and still carry the day. This is not about parties. This is about Americans and their Republic. Loyalty to parties is the fools choice. They don't represent us, they answer to the special interests, the money people who manage them. This could be repeated in England and Europe. Look at Greece or Spain. Have they improved?. Even Japan. Time to move away from Liberalism. Time to move ahead and break these chains that so confine and retard growth. Time to seize the day.

Many voters stayed home as they had no real choice. I have had the pleasure to have met people like Trump. They get things done. He wants to make America great again. No hope and change lies. He is feared by those in power here and abroad. He wrecks their controlled game plans for our future. Call him whatever name or his supporters you wish. He is the billionaire. He deals with many countries now. Even New York being such a hostile environment for anyone to succeed. This is a major game changer moment in history. Hop on board or be left behind. People are always fearful of the future. I'd be willing to bet you that many youth of today have no idea who H. G. Wells or Jules Vern were. Which shall it be?. Pathankot attack FIR lodged in Gujranwala
[DAWN] LAHORE: In what appeared to be a surprising move, Pakistain lodged on Friday an FIR against the four alleged attackers of the Pathankot airbase in India and their accomplices.

India has alleged that Pakistain's territory was used for the Jan 2 terrorist attack and has been pressurising Pakistain to act against the people involved in it.

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

police lodged the FIR in Gujranwala cop shoppe against the alleged attackers under sections 302, 324 and 109 of the Pakistain Penal Code and sections 7 and 21-I of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

"It has been informed by the National Security Adviser (NSA), India, Ajit Doval, that on Jan 2 four persons entered the premises of Pathankot airbase and resorted to heavy firing, resulting in the death of seven personnel. The attackers also were killed in the ensuing gunbattle. It has been further reported by the Indian NSA that these attackers had probably crossed the border from adjacent to Pathankot general area," the FIR read.

It stated that while inside India they had been making phone calls to Pakistain from phone numbers used for the communication. The NSA claimed that these persons belonged to a proscribed organization, said the FIR lodged by Aizazuddin, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Interior.

"In order to investigate this high-profile case afresh, the government will soon form a new joint investigation team (JIT) comprising security and military officials," an official privy to the development told Dawn.

The previously notified JIT headed by CTD Punjab's Additional IG Rai Tahir, he said, would stand dissolved after the formation of the new investigation team.

Spokesperson for Ghor Governor did not name the arrested terrorist while talking to Azadi Radio but said he was heading Daesh [Islamic State] group in this province.

He was leading Taliban in northern part of Ghor but later joined Daesh [Islamic State], Mahmodi said.

Before the emergence of Daesh [Islamic State] about 16 months before, the hotspot of holy warriors was southern part of the country but now they are apparently trying to establish its roots in western and northern parts of the country as well more likely to spill over to other countries.

Observing the situation, Turkmenistan has strengthened its border security by sending additional combat-ready forces and equipment to its border areas with Afghanistan.

Iran increases oil exports by 400,000 bpd
Iran has increased oil exports by 400,000 barrels per day at the first month following the removal of international sanctions against Tehran, Mohsen Ghamsari, director of International Affairs of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), said, Mehr news agency reported Feb. 20.

Iran’s crude export in February has reached 1.4 million barrels per day (mbpd), Ghamsari said, forecasting that the figure will stand at 1.5-1.56 mbpd by March. He further said that the European markets were the main destination for the Iran’s increased export.

Ghamsari added that east European countries will be new markets of Iran’s crude oil in post-sanctions period. In the near future further oil shipments will be exported to the European countries, he said.

Earlier Rokneddin Javadi, the Managing Director of National Iranian Oil Company said Iran will be sending the second oil cargo to European Union before the end of February.

In mid-February Iran loaded its first cargo of oil to Europe since international sanctions ended, as three oil tankers including one of Total, sailed from Iran's Kharg Island to Europe.

[IsraelTimes] Troops subdue, arrest young man after he lunges at them with knife at Old City's Damascus Gate

18-year-old Paleostinian attempted to stab Border Police forces in Jerusalem's Old City on Saturday evening but was stopped and jugged
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
No Israeli troops were hurt in the incident.

Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said security forces at the Damascus Gate approached the young man, who was behaving suspiciously, when he pulled out a knife and tried to stab them.

The troops subdued and arrested him, aided by a trained dog.

Regional police commander Haim Shmueli said following the incident that coppers's vigilance "proved itself, preventing harm to human lives."

It was the second attack at Damascus Gate over the weekend. On Friday a Paleostinian attacker was killed as he carried out a stabbing attack there that left three people maimed.

Earlier Saturday a 13-year-old was caught in Hebron with a knife which he said he had intended to use to stab soldiers. Troops found the weapon while searching the child at a checkpoint outside the Tomb of the Patriarchs.

Turkish artillery pounds Kurd positions in Aleppo
Of course they do -- they can none else.
[ARA News] AFRIN – Turkey’s military on Saturday renewed its bombardment on the Kurdish countryside of Afrin in northwestern Syria’s Aleppo, local sources reported.

The village of Hamam in Janderis district of Afrin was exposed on Saturday evening to heavy artillery shelling by the Turkish army forces.

“Turkish artillery has bombed the Kurdish border village of Hamam with dozens of shells, hitting civilians’ houses,” media activist Rashid Silo told ARA News in Janderis.

At least four civilians were killed and nine more wounded in the Turkish bombardment on Saturday.

This comes just two days after Turkey’s military bombed the Kurdish city of Afrin and nearby villages. “The Turkish bombardment caused ten casualties among civilians in Afrin,” member of the Democratic Council in Afrin, Rezan Hiddo, told ARA News. The attack, which took place in the midnight on Thursday, hit residential neighborhoods in Afrin and its suburbs.

Afrin and its countryside are under the control of Kurdish fighters from the People’s Protection Units (YPG). The Turkish army has earlier bombed fighting positions for the YPG after advancing against the Turkey-backed Islamist rebels in the northern countryside of Aleppo.

Iraq
B1Bs withdrawn from Iraq for modifications
(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – The U.S. Lt. Gen. Charles Brown Jr. revealed, that the U.S. Air Force pulled its Lancer B-1 bombers from the operations carried out by Washington against ISIS in Syria and Iraq.

Brown told reporters at the Pentagon via a video link obtained by IraqiNews.com, “The fleet of B-1 Lancer bombers had been sent back to the United States from their deployment in the Mideast,” adding that, “The four-engine bombers are due for upgrades to their cockpits, a process that will keep the jets stateside for an undetermined amount of time.”

Brown also pointed out, “The air campaign against ISIS will continue and the B-1s will likely be part of it again,” indicating that, “Other U.S. and coalition aircraft would pick up the B-1s’ missions during the upgrades.”
CNN adds:
Speaking at the Air Force Association's Air & Space Conference and Technology Exposition last September, Lt. Gen. John W. Hesterman III, the Air Force's assistant vice chief of staff said, "Last Tuesday, we emptied three B-1s over Iraq and Syria -- 80 targets in 20 minutes -- that's significant."

B-1s from the 28th Bomb Wing out of Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota, home to 27 of the bombers, flew 490 sorties against ISIS in a six-month deployment that ended in January, according to a release from the bomb wing. They dropped 3,800 munitions on 3,700 targets, a base release says.

#2  Would it be more cost-effective to build a bunch of new B-52s, considering how the bomber fleet is being used? Could even contract it out to Brazil or India & really save money. Or maybe modify 747s for bomb delivery. Don't need all the expensive high tech stuff in the B-1 (& B-2).

#4  Glenmore,

Believe it or not, it's not impossible to new-build BUFFs - the dies and tooling are still in storage, but only for the H model. What might be problematic would be the wing spars, which were made in an ALCOA factory a couple miles from where I grew up in Cleveland. The stamping press is a one-of-a-kind piece of machinery, and may not be usable, though officially the USAF keeps it in 'standby'. (If they ever need more cupholders on the F-35 though, it's probably outta here)

Arrested man eliminated from inquiry as police seek killer of Jalal Uddin
Follow-up.
Murder squad detectives have released a man arrested after a Muslim religious leader was left for dead from a brutal attack while walking home from a mosque.

Jalal Uddin died in hospital from serious head injuries after being assaulted in a children's playground in Rochdale on Thursday night.

A 31-year-old man arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder has now been released without charge and eliminated from police inquiries. Detectives say a racist motive for the murder has not been ruled out but they are keeping an "open mind".

It is now believed he was assaulted sometime between 8:41pm and 8:48pm after he was walking home from a friend's house on South Street.

Detective Chief Inspector Terry Crompton of Greater Manchester Police, said: "We have carried out a significant number of inquiries since Thursday evening to establish what happened to Jalal that led to his tragic death, and we are providing support to his family.

"Following extensive analysis of CCTV in the area, we now know that Jalal walked into the park from the South Street entrance at 8.41pm. He was then found injured seven minutes later by a passing member of the public.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who saw anything in the South Street area around that time, and from people who were using the park that evening. You may think your information is trivial but it could be crucial to our investigation.

"We are still working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding how Jalal came to suffer his injuries and we are keeping an open mind as to the motivation behind this attack, with a number of lines of inquiry currently being investigated."

China-Japan-Koreas
North Korea fires artillery rounds during 'military drill' near frontline island
North Korea fired artillery rounds during an apparent military drill near a frontline island on Saturday, a military spokesman from South Korea said, as tensions run high following nuclear and missile tests by Pyongyang.

The incident comes days after the South said it would conduct its largest ever annual joint military exercises with the United States in March. The exercises usually cause a spike in cross-border friction.

“The North Korean army fired a few artillery rounds” at around 7.20am from an artillery battery at Jangsangot promontory on its southern coast near the disputed sea border between the two Koreas, a defence ministry statement said.

“North Korea is believed to have conducted a military drill” north of the sea border, it said.

As a precautionary measure the South urged residents on Baengnyeongdo island to prepare to go into shelters and fishing vessels at sea to return to nearby ports, it said.

In 2010 the North shelled Yeonpyeong island near Baengnyeongdo, killing four people, in response to a live-fire drill conducted by the South near the disputed sea border.

...the Afghan national intel agency...
(NDS) said two weeks ago that the Pak nationals were linked with the country's Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) and were covertly operating as doctors.

This comes as the Afghan officials have long criticized Pak, specifically the country's military intelligence -- ISI, for interfering in the internal affairs of Afghanistan.

The Afghan officials have on numerous occasions slammed ISI for sheltering the anti-government armed bully boy groups in Pakistain who are staging deadly attacks in the country.

Russia Reinforces Armenia Air Base near Turkish Border
[ALMANAR.LB] Russia has sent several fighter planes including fourth-generation jets and a transport helicopter to reinforce its air base in Armenia near the border with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, the defense ministry said Saturday.

Four fourth-generation Mikoyan MiG-29 jets as well as a number of modernized MiG-29S bombers and a Mil Mi-8MT helicopter have been dispatched to the base, a statement said.

Russia's base at Erebuni airport just outside the capital Yerevan already has nine fourth-generation MiG-29 planes designed to carry a payload of up to 4,000 kilograms of weapons and with larger fuel tanks, allowing them to spend more time on missions.

Russia also has a base for ground troops at Gyumri, some 55 miles (90 kilometers) from the capital of the ex-Soviet republic.

Yerevan is around 40 kilometers (25 miles) from Armenia's border with Turkey, which has been closed since 1993 due to the countries' long-running feud.

Year's first polio case of KP confirmed
[DAWN] ISLAMABAD: This year's first polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set...
case from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
... formerly NWFP, still Terrorism Central...
has been confirmed, with Polio Virology Laboratory of the National Institute of Health reporting onset of paralysis in a 19-month-old child of Nowshera district.

With the new case, the total number of polio cases to be reported this year in the country has reached two.

An official of the Ministry of National Health Services (NHS) said sample from the child had been collected in January.

"The child, Abdullah son of Jehad Khan, is 19 months old and is resident of Shireen Khotey village, in tehsil and district Nowshera," he said.

He said the child belonged to an Afghan family and was administered at least 10 doses of polio vaccine during different vaccination campaigns.

The country's first polio case for the year was reported on Feb 5 from Gadap Town, Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
. The affected child, Ijaz Khan, was 34 months old and belonged to a Pakhtun family.

"Malnutrition is emerging as a major reason for the disease because the immunity of the affected child from Karachi was very low," said the NHS official.

Last year, 54 cases of polio were reported in the country.

"We are still hopeful that polio will be eradicated from the country this year," he said. "We are not going to miss any child during the vaccination campaigns," he added.

Homemade guns add to Israeli security woes
[Ynet] Improvised firearms used in some recent terror attacks are reaching level of military-made arms, firing like an AK47 or M-16.

The gun that killed Hadar Cohen was not carried into the Paleostinian territories through tunnels or smuggled past guards at a checkpoint. It was an improvised firearm, probably home made in a basement or kitchen somewhere in the West Bank.

The 19-year old Border Policewoman was killed and a colleague maimed in a combined stabbing and shooting attack at Jerusalem's Damascus Gate at the beginning of the month. The three attackers, Paleostinians in their early 20s from the northern communities in the West Bank, had been approached and questioned because they were acting suspiciously, prompting their deadly reply.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Geagea slams Hezbollah over anti-Saudi remarks
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Lebanese politician Samir Geagea
... Geagea was imprisoned by the Syrians and their puppets for 11 years in a dungeon in the third basement level of the Lebanese Ministry of Defense. He was released after the Cedar Revolution in 2005 ...
urged his government on Saturday to punish "armed parties" in Leb involved in insulting "brotherly" Arab states, in remarks seen as an indirect reference to the powerful bad boy group Hezbollah.

Geagea, leader of the Christian party Lebanese Forces
A Christian political party founded by Bashir Gemayel, who was then bumped off when he was elected president of Leb...
, urged Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
to reconsider its suspension of a $3 billion aid package to the Lebanese army.

In a televised speech, he indirectly called for punishing Hezbollah over a stance that expressed a deepening hostility towards Saudi Arabia.

"The Lebanese law forbids any internal party of offending brotherly Arab states," said Geagea in a reference to Hezbollah, adding that the group should be punished per the law.

Geagea's statements followed a Saudi decision on Friday to halt an aid package to the Lebanese military to buy French arms.

The surprise move prompted Leb's Prime Minister Tammam Salam to call on Saudi leaders to reconsider the decision.

"We express our deep appreciation for King Salman
...either the largest species of Pacific salmon or the current Sheikh of the Burnin' Sands, Cutodian of the Two Holy Mosquesand Lord of Most of the Arabians....
bin Abdulaziz and his brothers in the Saudi leadership ... and we hope for a reconsideration of the decision to halt the aid for our army and security forces," he said in a statement.

The Saudi state news agency said earlier on Friday that Riyadh was suspending the package pledged in 2013, with an official saying it was a response to Beirut's failure to condemn attacks on the kingdom's missions in Iran.

Afghanistan
Army pulled out of Helmand's Musa Qala District
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Government forces have pulled out of bases in Musa Qala, a strategic district of the southern province of Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
, after months of heavy fighting with Taliban Lion of Islams, Rooters reports.

Helmand, a traditional heartland of the Taliban and one of the world's biggest centers of opium production, has been threatened for months and the United States recently sent hundreds of soldiers to the province to bolster its defense.

The commander of the Afghan army's 215th corps, Mohammad Moeen Faqir, said troops had been ordered to pull back from Roshan Tower, their main base in Musa Qala, as well as other checkpoints to reinforce Gereshk, straddling the main Highway One which links Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
with the south and west.

"Their presence in the area did not mean anything," he said. "We will use them in battle with enemies in other parts of Helmand province."

Fierce fighting has raged in Musa Qala and other parts of Helmand for months and the Taliban overran the district in August last year before they were driven back by Afghan forces backed by U.S. Arclight airstrikes.

Musa Qala itself is a dry and sparsely inhabited district that British and American troops fought hard to control between 2006 and 2008 but its loss could bring further losses elsewhere, including Sangin where government forces have been clinging on.

"Now that the government has withdrawn its forces from this district, we will see Kajaki, Gereshk and Sangin collapsing very soon," said deputy provincial council member Abdul Majid Akhundzada.

The Taliban said in a statement it had captured armored personnel carriers, bulldozers and other equipment abandoned in Roshan Tower and nine other checkpoints.

The withdrawal prompted speculation among local officials that the government had reached an arrangement with the Taliban but Abdul Jabar Qahraman, presidential envoy for security affairs in Helmand, denied any such pact.

"There wasn't any deal," he said. "We learnt that there was no need to continue the fight in that area."

No comment was immediately available from the ministry of defense in Kabul.

The outgoing commander of international forces, Gen. John Campbell, recently sent hundreds of American troops to Helmand, where they assist and train Afghan forces but do not fight.

A front man for NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
's Resolute Support mission in Kabul said its aim remained to train, advise and assist and referred questions on Afghan troop movements to the defense ministry.

U.S. officials estimate the Taliban dominates or threatens almost a third of the country and has full control over at least four districts. Although it briefly took the northern city of Kunduz last year, it does not control any thriving provincial capitals.

Although Helmand has been one of the provinces most at risk, the Taliban have been pushing forward across the country, putting severe strain on government troops, fighting alone since international forces ended most combat operations in 2014.

2 CRPF men, EDI employee killed; 13 CRPF men injured
[Daily Excelsior] Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and one employee of Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) were killed and 13 CRPF men including an Assistant Commandant injured in a krazed killer attack in Pampore area of South Kashmire's Pulwama district on the National Highway in the outskirts of Srinagar.

The Inspector General of Police, Kashmire, Syed Javed Mujtaba Geelani told Excelsior that two CRPF men and an employee of EDI was killed and 12 CRPF men including an officer were maimed in the krazed killer attack.

The Public Relations Officer of CRPF, Bhavesh Chowdry, told Excelsior that 11 CRPF men were maimed when murderous Moslems attacked their vehicle in Sempora area of Pampore out of which two later gave up the ghost in the hospital. He said that three more CRPF men including Assistant Commandant were maimed when their party tried to enter the EDI complex where murderous Moslems took refuge in a building.

Earlier in the day, two CRPF personnel identified as Head Constable Bhula Singh of 144 Battalion and Constable R K Raina were killed and nine others suffered injuries after a group of murderous Moslems attacked their vehicle in Sempora area of Pampore in South Kashmire's Pulwama district.

Soon after the attack, the murderous Moslems rushed towards nearby EDI building and took refuge in it amid heavy exchange of gunfire with CRPF's Road Opening Party (ROP).

A CRPF party headed by Assistant Commandant tried to enter the building in which murderous Moslems were hiding but murderous Moslems fired at them indiscriminately injuring the Assistant Commandant and two jawans.

A gardener Abdul Gani Mir, 48, son of Mohammad Sultan, a resident of Gundipora village of Pulwama was injured during the gunbattle and he was later shifted to SMHS hospital Srinagar for treatment. However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
he succumbed to injures.

The IGP Gillani said that 3 murderous Moslems are inside the EDI building and security forces are carrying out operations against them.

Soon after the attack, large contingents of Army and SOG rushed to the EDI and cordoned off entire area. Over 100 employees and trainees were trapped inside the EDI complex in three buildings. Some of them rushed away as the shootout started and others were later evacuated by the Police.

The intermittent firing between the security forces and holed up murderous Moslems is going on. More troops have been rushed to the area and entire area around the EDI has been cordoned off to prevent murderous Moslems from fleeing the EDI complex.

As the murderous Moslems entered the EDI building, there were over 100 employees and trainees in three multi-storied buildings who had narrow escape. Some of them came out on their own and fled while some were rescued after over an hour.

Security forces first evacuated these employees and trainees before launching operation. One of the employee said that they were working inside when they heard gun fire and murderous Moslems entering the EDI building. He said that they were rescued by the Police as shootout was on.

A portion of National Highway in Pampore area was closed for traffic and there were massive traffic jams.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
'Rolling Stone' Magazine's 'Jackie' To Appear In Court
[NEWSWEEK] A Virginia judge has ordered "Jackie" of Rolling Stone 's now-retracted expose about an alleged gang rape at the University of Virginia to appear in court to be deposed.

"The court believes that a one-day, seven-hour deposition will be sufficient," Judge Glen Conrad wrote in a court order this week calling for the woman identified only as Jackie to appear in court on April 5.

The woman will be deposed as part of an ongoing lawsuit filed by Nicole Eramo, an associate dean at the University of Virginia, against Rolling Stone , the magazine's owner, Wenner Media, and the writer of the expose, "A Rape on Campus," Sabrina Rubin Erdely.
Ms. Erdely has written other reports that are demonstrably false. It'll happen here too.
Three days after "A Rape on Campus" was published, the university suspended all fraternities and canceled all fraternal activities. But the article came under scrutiny soon afterward, with the fraternity where the alleged rape was said to have taken place, Phi Kappa Psi, telling news hounds the events described by Erdely never occurred.
The university has yet to apologize to anyone, either...
As new details emerged, the magazine distanced itself from the story. A local police investigation found " no evidence " to support "Jackie's" claims. Rolling Stone retracted the story and asked the Columbia School of Journalism to conduct a review to determine where the magazine went wrong.
Strangely, the media didn't make much of the Columbia report...
In May 2015, Eramo filed suit against the magazine for defamation. Erdely's depiction of Eramo as callous in the face of Jackie's accusations "were not the result of an innocent mistake; they were the result of a wanton journalist who was more concerned with writing an article that fulfilled her preconceived narrative about the victimization of women on American college campuses, and a malicious publisher who was more concerned about selling magazines to boost the economic bottom line for its faltering magazine, than they were about discovering the truth or actual facts," Eramo's attorney wrote.

Jackie has remained anonymous throughout the entire process. She refused to cooperate with the police investigation that found no evidence of her claims.
Ms. Coakley refused to cooperate because she knew the penalty for filing a false police report.

#1  Jackie has remained anonymous throughout the entire process.

So unlike Joe the Plumber, her records in hands of government personnel will remain secured. One set of rules for me, another set of rules for thee.

#2  The difference: Joe the Plumber was outed by a state government official who abused her power.

Ms. Jackie Coakley's identity has been protected not by the state, but by the press -- either as a deal in exchange for an interview (per WaPo) or as part of the rape narrative.

#3  ...Seems there are a few possible results here:

1:) Jackie shows up and confesses. (Damned unlikely.)
1a:) Jackie shows up and says UVa is blaming her to cover up the whole thing and make her look bad. (More likely than you might think.)
2:) Jackie shows up and refuses to testify because she feels 'unsafe'. (More likely than anything else; no judge in America today will impose any sanction on her.)
3. Jackie refuses to show up at all. (Roughly as likely as #2)

#5  "to appear in court to be deposed"

That's a little unusual. In my experience, depositions take place either in one of the attorneys' offices (if one has an office in the deponent's area) or a neutral location such as a conference room in a local hotel. (The idea is to keep the deponent from having to pay out money to travel.)

France orders expulsion of swath of Calais camp
[Ynet] An expulsion order has been issued for hundreds of migrants living in a huge swath of the Calais camp known locally as "the jungle," demanding that they remove their makeshift homes and possessions within four days.

The order, published Friday by the regional prefecture, says residents of the camp's southern sector must clear out by 8 p.m. Tuesday so it can be razed. Authorities estimate that 800-1,000 migrants live in that sector, crammed with shops, cafes, mosques and churches. Humanitarian groups say there are many more.

Clashes ongoing in Fallujah between ISIS and Sunni tribesmen

[Rudaw] Military festivities between Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
and Sunni rustics in Fallujah,
... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids...
an Iraqi city that ISIS has held for long, are ongoing since Friday, said local officials, complaining that tribal fighters must be better armed to make territorial gains against the jihadists.

"The rustics need to be armed and we are trying to earn them the support from the government as soon as possible," said Saadun Obeid, mayor of Fallujah. "The marksmen of the tribes have taken up positions inside buildings in the neighborhood of Askari eastern Fallujah."

Iraqi Sunni rustics and ISIS jihadists engaged in deadly festivities Friday in and near Fallujah in Anbar, Iraq's largest province, which is Sunni dominated.

The exiled official responsible for Fallujah, Issa Sayir, told AFP that, "Clashes took place between sons of the al-Mahamda and al-Juraisat tribes against the al-Hisba group."

The fighting, he said, took place in al-Jolan to the northwest of the city and expanded to include al-Askari to the east and the Nazal area in the city-center.

Deteriorating conditions, described by Anbar Governor Sohaib al-Rawi as having "reached a state of famine," seem to be resulting in more rustics seeking to oust ISIS from their Sunni Arab-majority province. The US has urged Baghdad to win the trust of the Sunni rustics of Anbar and solicit their help when it comes to uprooting ISIS from Anbar.

N.Korea Can Conduct Nuke Tests 'with Little or No Warning'
North Korea now has the capability to conduct nuclear tests without displaying any signs of test preparations to prying eyes. The website 38 North said Pyongyang appears to have altered test preparation practices to make them more difficult to detect, as demonstrated by its latest nuclear test last month.

The site said previous images suggest Pyongyang may already have finished digging several underground tunnels at its main nuclear test site in Punggye-ri, which would allow them to conduct another test "with little or no warning."

Several killed in clashes in Benghazi
Libya Herald now says the death toll is up to 14
Heavy clashes in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi have left at least 12 people dead and 17 wounded, a hospital official said on Saturday.

Five years on from the uprising that toppled Muammar Gaddafi, Libya is plagued by instability and militants have taken advantage of a security vacuum to expand their presence there.

A spokesman for the military forces loyal to Libya’s eastern government, Wanis Boukhamada, said fighting was mostly in the neighborhood of Boatni. The army has been battling militant groups in the city for months.

Two governments, one based in Tripoli and the other in the east, each backed by complex alliances of armed factions, are vying to for control of the country.

On Friday, U.S. warplanes carried out an airstrike on a suspected militant camp in western Libya. At least 50 people were killed including two Serbian embassy staff abducted in Libya in November.

Syrian opposition agrees to truce, with caveat
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Syria's opposition has agreed to a two- to three-week truce on condition that Russia stops its air strikes, sieges are ended and access for aid allowed across the country, a source close to peace talks said on Saturday.

Russian air strikes began last September and turned the tide in Syria's five-year civil war in Bashir al-Assad's favour, to the frustration of the United States and its allies who have supported rebels trying to topple the president.

Several attempts to agree a truce have failed in recent months.

"The message has been conveyed very clearly now that the opposition is willing to enter into a two- to three-week truce, and that's open to renewal if the conditions are right and both sides are willing to renew it," the source said.

The opposition also wants vulnerable prisoners, including women and kiddies, to be released, the source said.

Russia and the U.S. are jointly chairing a United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
meeting in Geneva aimed at trying to secure a cessation of hostilities in Syria.

U.S. and Russian military officials met ahead of the wider meeting, diplomats said on Friday.

A truce would be renewable and supported by all parties except Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, the source said. It would also be conditional on the al Qaeda-linked Nusra Front no longer being targeted, at least to start with, the source said.

The Nusra Front is considered a terrorist organization by the U.N. Security Council and banned.

Asked if the opposition's insistence on the Nusra Front no longer being targeted was the main stumbling block, he described it as "the elephant in the room".

"They have to deal with this very delicately or they are going to end up with a civil war in Idlib on their hands," the4 source said.

Nusra fighters are fighting alongside other rebel groups in some areas, including Idlib.

FBI told San Bernardino County staff to tamper with gunman's Apple account
The government screws up and blames a private corporation. Typical...
The San Bernardino County government on Friday night said the FBI told its staff to tamper with the Apple account of Syed Farook, who with his wife, Tashfeen Malik, carried out the December shooting in which 14 people were killed.

The development matters because the change made to the account – a reset of Farook’s iCloud password – made it impossible to see if there was another way to get access to data on the shooter’s iPhone without taking Apple to court.

“The county was working cooperatively with the FBI when it reset the iCloud password at the FBI’s request,” read a post on San Bernardino County’s official Twitter account.

#1  They want or demand that Beijing cease-n-desist, but Beijing won't.

ION this mostly sunny Guam Monday AM ...

    * EX-MVARIETY NKA GUAM DAILY POST > PARACELS BUILDUP A POINTER TO CHINA'S BROADER SOUTH CHINA SEA AMBITION.

As China does in the Paracels [China = Xisha Islands], it may likely do also per the Spratly's [China = Nansha Islands].

    * RELATED JAPAN TIMES > BEIJING PARACEL MILITARY BUILDUP SEEN AS PRECURSOR TO SPRATLY AMBITION.

    * BIGNEWSNETWORK > CHINA PARACELS BUILDUP MAY BE REPLICATED ON SPRATLYS: SECURITY EXPERTS.

    * WORLD NEWS > [Indonesia News] US ACCUSES CHINA OF ABUSING MIGHT, WILL TEST CHINA ON DISPUTED ISLANDS.

Personally, I'm more interested in how the US will "test" China vee Chinese "aggressiveness" = belligerency? vee TAIWAN + EAST CHINA SEA.

    * Also from REUTERS > THE NEXT WORLD WAR WILL BE IN THE SOUTH CHINA SEA. ASK THUCYDIDES ...

Perhaps not - lest we fegit, THE US = OBAMA ADMIN IS ALREADY BEING CRITICIZED FOR INDIRECTLY OR COVERTLY RECOGIZING CHINA'S CLAIMS BY KEEPING USN WARSHIPS OUTSIDE OF THE ISLANDS' 12-MILE NM LIMITS. As a copnsequence, China has begun aggressively = belligerently? asserting its rights on TAIWAN + AGZ JAPAN in the East China Sea.

Iff anything, + given the Year 2020 NLT 2025 timeframe, where China ideally would like to see the USDOD out of East Asia-WESTPAC = 1/2 of the Pacific ASAP AMAP ALAP, IMO UNLESS THE US SURRENDERS OR CONCEDES VERY QUICKLY ANY WAR IN THE SCS WILL MORE LIKELY THAN NOT BE ONE OF SEVERAL FRONTS OR THEATERS THAT CHINA + PLA WILL FIGHT AT ROUGHLY ONE TIME AGZ US REGIONAL ALLIES + ULTIMATELY AGZ THE US ITSELF.

China has a number of US Regional Allies it needs to put down at roughly the same time - IMO it is nonsensical for China to wage war in the SCS-N-Only-The-SCS but not agz Taiwan andor in the ECS agz its historical + contemporary East Asia rival JAPAN [+ SOKOR], all the while risking that US Regional Allies may become militarily stronger vee China, poten even NUCLEAR, while China per se awaits the outcome of SCS war.

    MORESO ALSO GIVEN ...

    * NATIONAL INTEREST > WHY NOT A SOUTH KOREAN NUKE?

KJU = Pudgy desires the "status quo" in NE Asia + on the Korean Peninsula to be quickly + forcibly changed ASAP AMAP ALAP n favor of ANTI-CHINA, DE FACTO INTER-KOREAN REUNIFICATION.

IFF A US-CHINA WAR BE NECESSARY TO PREVENT POST-COLLAPSE, DE FACTO CHINESE TAKEOVER OF NOKOR FOR ANY REASON, IN KJU'S MIND SO BE IT - HE'LL START THE WAR HIMSELF.

    * BREAKING DEFNSE > FEW CHOICES FOR THE US AS CHINA MILITARIZES THE SOUTH PACIFIC.

    Al-Qaeda seize southern Yemen town
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Al-Qaeda Death Eaters took control of the southern coastal town of Ahwar inYemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
on Saturday, the Arabic website of Al Arabiya News Channel reported.

According to local residents in Ahwar, al-Qaeda Death Eaters were deployed at the eastern entrances to the city and mounted the roofs tops of government buildings, where they fought with Popular Resistance Units loyal to President Abdrabbu Mansour Hadi.

"At dawn this morning the al-Qaeda gunnies clashed with the Popular Resistance forces, killing three of them. They attacked the sheikh in charge of the area and after he escaped set up street checkpoints and planted their black flag on government buildings," one resident said.

The coastal city and surrounding district, in Abyan

In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues...

Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The government, based in Yemen's second largest city of Aden in the southwest, has also been fighting the advance of the murderous Moslems, even in areas close to the presidential palace.

Residents in Aden's Mansoura neighborhood said heavy kabooms reverberated on Friday night as gunnies launched shoulder-fired rockets in a failed attempt

But AQAP has also suffered setbacks, losing its leader and several brass hats to U.S. drone strikes.

At least one person has been killed in a terrorist attack on a military convoy near an educational facility in the northern Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, while 100 students and employees remain trapped inside the building, Sputnik reported with the reference to Indian media.

Unidentified gunmen attacked a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy earlier in the day before retreating to the nearby Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) in the town of Pampore, 10 miles southeast of Srinagar.

"There are nearly 100 people trapped inside the three multi-storied buildings in the campus," a trapped JKEDI employee told the regional publication The Tribune.

At least 11 CRPF personnel are said to have been injured, one of whom later died. The employee told the outlet that a gun battle was still underway and one of the gunmen had asked the hostages to "vacate" the building.
