Champ finds his niche in UK sanitary nappy tax debate.
[The Telegraph] President Barack Obama has weighed in to the debate on tampon tax in the UK.

After learning that British women must pay a five per cent on sanitary products, as they are classed 'luxury items', he told vlogger Ingrid Nilsen:

"I have to tell you, I have no idea why states would tax these as luxury items. I suspect it's because men were making the laws when those taxes were passed.

"I think it's pretty sensible for women in those states that you just mentioned to work to get those taxes removed. Those aren't federal taxes."

He admitted that he was "was not aware" of the tax until Nilsen told him in an interview with her and other YouTubers.

Bill and Melinda: At it again, 'redistribute the work' also !
[The Telegraph] There is a gap, she says, between the amount of time that women put into unpaid work compared to men. "Whether you're in a western country where that gap can be 90 minutes or in the developing world where there can be a five hour gap, if we don't talk about how it robs women of their potential, then we're not really looking at the issue," she tells me animatedly on the phone.
Appears from the comments herein, another 'gap' has been identified.
"And if we don't redistribute the work, if we don't really say: 'there needs to be a different balance here', we're not going to get all the way. We're not going to let all women reach their potential all around the world or get the big GDP gains that we want."

Iraq
Swedish girl rescued by Kurds near Mosul, Iraq
[UPI] ERBIL, Iraq, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- Kurdish special forces rescued a Swedish girl held by the Islamic State near Mosul, Iraq, Kurdish officials said Tuesday.

The girl, 16, is believed to be a native of Boras, Sweden, and the missing person who traveled to the Middle East last summer in the company of her boyfriend, 19, who is alleged to have joined an extremist group.

The Kurdistan Region Security Council, the high-ranking security organization for Iraqi Kurdistan, announced it "was called upon by Swedish authorities and members of her family to assist in locating and rescuing her" from IS. The statement added she was rescued near Mosul on Feb. 17, is currently in Kurdistan and will be transferred to Swedish authorities. She will presumably return to Sweden.

Weimar America
2016 is a pivotal year in which accustomed referents of a stable West are now disappearing. We seem to be living in a chaotic age, akin to the mid-1930s, of cynicism and skepticism. Government, religion, and popular culture are corrupt and irrelevant--and the world order of the last 70 years has all but collapsed.

Neither the president nor his would-be successors talk much about the fact that we are now nearing $20 trillion in debt--in an ossified economy of near-zero interest rates, little if any GDP growth, and record numbers of able-bodied but non-working adults. (The most frequent complaint I hear in my hometown is that the government lags behind in their cost-of-living raises in Social Security disability payments.)

No one can figure out how and why America's youth have borrowed a collective $1 trillion for college tuition, and yet received so little education and skills in the bargain. Today's campuses have become as foreign to American traditions of tolerance and free expression as what followed the Weimar Republic. To appreciate cry-bully censorship, visit a campus "free-speech" area. To witness segregation, walk into a college "safe space." To hear unapologetic anti-Semitism, attend a university lecture. To learn of the absence of due process, read of a campus hearing on alleged sexual assault. To see a brown shirt in action, watch faculty call for muscle at a campus demonstration. To relearn the mentality of a Chamberlain or Daladier, listen to the contextualizations of a college president. 2016 is a pivotal year in which accustomed referents of a stable West are now disappearing. 'Anonymous' hacker group threatens Cincinnati police
[FOX] CINCINNATI, OH. Cincinnati Police say they are aware of a threat from the 'Anonymous' hacker group and have taken necessary precautions to keep officers safe.

The group posted a video to YouTube Sunday titled 'Message to Cincinnati Police Department.' A masked group member with a computer-modified voice says files containing personal information about Cincinnati police officers will be released online.

The link to the Anonymous "data dump" directs to a removed page on pastebin.com.

The group's message comes in response to a police shooting in Westwood last week. 'Anonymous' alleges CPD officers shot and killed suspect Paul Gaston because he was black. The group said officers did not use lethal force against a white suspect in a similar situation the same day.

Not so certain about that one g(r)om. There's an old saying in the South: "There are black folks, and then there are...the other ones." Bad apples fall on both sides of the colour fence. I think most American people are sophisticated enough to tell the difference. The odious reality of Affirmative Action, like it's failed South African cousin 'Black Economic Empowerment' (BEE) is that both programs were created by the guilt bound white man seeking to 'level the playing fields' and gain political leverage. Affirmative Action and BEE or symptoms of a greater problem.

I believe the 'mistrust' felt most is being directed toward the Washington elite, precisely where it belongs. In the final analysis, Jeb, Christie, and the growing list of Republican drop-out presidential candidates might prove this out.

I could be wrong, been wrong once or twice.

#12  I don't think Trump is stupid. He has flaws but that ain't one of them.

My best hope for him is that he truly does love the USoA and will set a vision that includes a direction to the republic as defined by the founders. This would be highlighted by picking people who can push things in that direction.

I most certainly don't have the feeling that he will do that based on his statements but I also don't believe what he has said on any particular topic.

Hillary or Bernie would be the death of the republic. Ted is probably the best out there now, BUT, Donald might be the best to stop the implosion that we are undergoing right now.

Iraq
U.S. Volunteers Aid Kurdish Fighters in Iraq
[Free Beacon] Following an ISIS chemical weapons attack involving the use of chlorine mortar shells Feb. 11 near Sinjar Mountain in Iraq, a dozen seriously wounded Kurdish soldiers were assessed and bundled off on ambulances to a field hospital that had been set up a few days earlier by American volunteers working shoulder to shoulder with the Peshmerga.

The volunteer unit that works as an adjunct of the Peshmerga's 9th Brigade calls itself "Qalubna Makum," which translates from Arabic as "Our Hearts Are with You."

This newly-formed seven person team of U.S. and European combat veterans has been operating in Iraq's Kurdish region since December, and is led by a former U.S. Army officer from Los Angeles whose name is being withheld for his safety.

The Americans are among more than 150 volunteers serving in Iraq with the Peshmerga, according to U.S. government sources.

The tents, diesel generators, hospital beds, and over-the-counter medications for the field hospitals arrived in three large shipping containers by way of Tom Kelly, 65, a retired North Carolina football coach who has made it his mission to send donated hospital equipment to more than a dozen nations in Africa and the former Soviet Union.

Many items for the Kurdish troops were donated by Kurdish-American members of the Tennessee Kurdish Community Council in Nashville. Kelly met with Peshmerga Gen. Zaim Ali, the former U.S. Army officer who leads the team of Americans, and others in mid-January to arrange the distribution of supplies.

Kelly first linked up with the top brass of the Peshmerga in Nov. 2014 during a campaign to reclaim several villages that had been captured by ISIS troops in their blitzkrieg advance across northern Iraq in June of that year. At a battle for Kharbaroot, 22 miles west of Kirkuk, Kelly accompanied Gen. Rasheed Muhsin, a surgeon, as he tried in vain to save the lives of wounded Peshmerga without adequate blood supplies or anti-hemorrhaging tools. He says he was moved by the courage and sacrifice of the Kurdish military and returned to the U.S. with an even greater sense of mission.

New Poll Confirms Democrats Okay With Socialism
[LI] Poll: Majority of Democrats say socialism has 'positive impact'
With a two term communist sitting in the WH, a Clinton redux on the horizon, and Bernie Sanders in the race, a poll was needed ?
The term 'socialist' once was used as an epithet in American politics. Perhaps no more.

In a year in which Bernie Sanders, a self-described 'Democratic Socialist,' is running a competitive primary campaign for the White House, a new survey finds that a healthy portion of Democratic primary voters are favorably inclined toward socialism.

Nearly six-in-ten Democratic primary voters believe socialism has a 'positive impact on society,' according to polling conducted this month for the right-leaning issue advocacy group American Action Network and provided to POLITICO.

Democratic voters in every age group, every gender, and every race view socialism favorably, according to the early February telephone poll of 1,000 likely Democratic primary voters fielded by Republican firm OnMessage Inc. and commissioned by AAN, which is tied to the Congressional Leadership Fund super PAC dedicated to House Republicans. And among people 45 and under -- a group that has helped power Sanders' primary performances -- the ideology is preferred to capitalism by a margin of 46 percent to 19 percent.

#2  easy to get an answer you want from polling

the trick is asking the question the right way

I recently received some email asking about my priorities- which I thought more important

-make sure poor people are fed and housed
- reduce corporate influence in elections
- welcome immigrants

and the Republicans do the same

which do I think more important

- protect the security of the US
- make the country safe from violent crime
- reduce excess taxes

sad situation

Krauthammer: Trump Will Win GOP Nomination Unless Field Drops to Three
[Breitbart] Columnist Charles Krauthammer reacted Saturday on Fox News Channel to GOP front-runner Donald Trump winning the South Carolina primary.

According to Krauthammer, Trump cannot be stopped until the bottom three candidates drop out of the race.

"Look, the panic ought to be there right now. If you don't have the field winnowing to three, then I don't see how Trump is stopped."

"In a three-way race, that's a dead heat with the other two," he continued.

Krauthammer added, "The losing candidates are going to be the ones who have the decisive effect on the trajectory of the campaign."
If Krauthammer's assessment is correct, the fellow in the photo is helping divide the conservative vote and will likely be Trump's Vice Presidential running mate.

IS beaten back in new assault in Derna
An Islamic State (IS) unit from Fataieh attempted to a new incursion into Derna this afternoon but was beaten back by the local Mujahideen forces. These were backed up by helicopter support from the Libyan National Army (LNA), despite the fact that the two are, officially, not cooperating.

Following the IS retreat, there were unconfirmed reports that a former Ansar Al-Sharia commander who had switched to IS but still living in the town, Tamim Kilfa, was killed when a bomb exploded in his car. It is not known if he was targeted or was transporting the bomb.

According to a source in the LNA’s Omar Mukhtar Security Room, the fighting started when a number of IS fighters in three trucks moved into the area known as District 400 at the far east end of the town and tried to take over the local Bayat Al-Radwan mosque. They also managed to penetrate as far as the Corniche area.

They were repelled in heavy fighting in which four of the Derna mujahideen were reported killed. A number of IS militants were also killed before they pulled out. Two are said to have been Libyans.

The Operations Room source claims that LNA helicopters took part in the fight, targeting IS in both District 400 and Fataieh.

Fida oilfield attacked, IS blamed
Tunis, 22 February 2016:

The Fida oil field south east of Sirte has been attacked and two tanks set on fire, according to the National Oil Corporation. The attack happened on Thursday evening it said in a statement yesterday.

Although the tanks had a capacity of 20,0000 barrels of oil each, NOC noted they contained only 500 barrels at the time.

Blaming the so-called Islamic State (IS), it insisted the authorities had to protect the country’s oil installations. The continuing destruction of the infrastructure by IS would seriously affect Libyan production capacity, it pointed out.

IS set fire to tanks at Sidra and Ras Lanuf last month.

The head of the NOC in Tripoli Mustafa Sanalla late last year expressed fears that IS aimed to destroy Libya’s oil industry so as to cripple the state’s economic independence. Commenting on the latest attack, he said that there would be other attacks, with the entire industry at risk, unless a national unity government was put in place.

National production, he noted, was down to between 360,000 and 370,000 barrels a day.

The Fida oilfield belongs to Zueitina Oil. Ironically the company issued a statement exactly a week ago denying that any of its fields or pipelines had been attacked by anyone.

The field was closed down last March along with the Zueitina and Al-Ghani fields, all three in the Zillah area, when the Misrata-based Central Libya Shield Brigade pulled its forces out following an attack on Ghani by IS. The Central Region Petroleum Facilities Guards run by Ibrahim Jadhran were supposed to take over but failed to do so.

Kurds, allies expel ISIS from gas facility in northeast Syria
ARA News

HASAKAH – Kurdish-Arab alliance of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) seized control of a key gas facility and main financial resource for the Islamic State (ISIS) radical group in Syria’s northeastern Hasakah, military sources confirmed on Monday.

The SDF regained control of the Jibisa gas facility, located about 12km east of Shaddadi city in southern Hasakah.

The facility had been used by ISIS for nearly two years as a source to fund its operations.

Informed sources told ARA News that ISIS used to produce 5,000 gas cylinders a day in Jibisa to be sold at the black-market.

Local sources reported that ISIS has been coordinating with the Syrian regime to sell the gas it used to extract from Jibisa fields, and that the regime’s employees have been working in the facility even during ISIS control.

Speaking to ARA News, a spokesman for the Syrian Democratic Forces said: “We have controlled the entire gas facility in Jibisa after expelling ISIS militants from the area.”

“The SDF has stormed ISIS headquarters after local people demanded our help to get rid of the terror group,” he said. “Jibisa was one of the main resources for ISIS, and after the SDF recaptured the area this radical group has definitely lost a main resource.”

Jibisa gas facility is considered one of the main gas facilities in northern Syria for its huge production that has been feeding power stations in central Syria. The facility was run by some 500 workers, including specialized engineers, technicians and workers.

Iraq Deploys Reinforcements for New Anbar Push
[ALMANAR.LB] Iraq deployed reinforcements to a military base in Anbar on Monday for an impending operation against the ISIL terrorist group in the western province, a senior officer said.

ISIL overran large parts of Anbar province in 2014, but Iraqi forces recaptured scenic provincial capital Ramadi from the Death Eaters and are now setting their sights on areas farther up the Euphrates river valley.

"Major military reinforcements... arrived today to the Ain al-Asad base," army Major General Ali Ibrahim Daboun said.

The forces from the counter-terrorism service and police will take part in an operation in the coming days to retake the town of Heet and the nearby Kubaisa area, Daboun said.

The Al-Asad base is located northwest of those areas, while Ramadi, where government forces are also deployed, lies to its southeast.

ISIL overran swathes of Iraq in 2014, but its forces have since regained significant ground from the terrorists.

sect operating in the North-east.

The group in a statement signed by its coordinator, Bishop Musa Fomson, said following the success recorded by the amnesty programme in the Niger Delta, there was the need to replicate same in the northern part of the country currently ravaged by the Boko Haram insurgency.

He noted that even as the military made gains against the bad boys, the use of force alone cannot win the war against terrorism.

The bishop specifically commended the efforts of the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the programme, Brig-Gen. Paul Boroh (rtd), especially in the management of funds, noting that the office had already trained 17,322 of the beneficiaries, leaving a balance of 12,678 and even embarked on the domestication of its programmes.

"Since taking over the amnesty programme, Boroh has restored hope to many of the agitators. We believe that with such confidence in a man who can be trusted, such programme can be replicated in the troubled northern part of the country," he said.

NDS rescues hostage as kidnappers demanded $1 million ransom
A hostage was released from the restive Maidan Wardak province of Afghanistan with the interference of the Afghan intelligence operatives as the kidnappers demanded a ransom of $1 million for his release.

Lebanon PM to visit Gulf after Saudi aid cutoff
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Leb's Prime Minister says he will head a ministerial delegation to visit Gulf states in the near future after Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
halted security assistance deals worth $4 billion.

The Saudi move came after Leb failed to back the Sunni kingdom in its spat with Shiite powerhouse Iran, the leading backer of Hezbollah.

In a statement Monday, Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam insisted Beirut stands by Arab countries.

Salam says it is necessary to rectify relations between Leb and its "brothers," and "remove the stains" that surfaced recently.

Salam heads a unity Cabinet that includes members of an Iran-backed coalition headed by Hezbollah and the Saudi-supported March 14 group.

Salam said Leb will maintain its policy of "disassociation" from regional conflicts.
Except that Hezbollah's the real ruler of Leb, and they're providing a bit of fraternal Axis of Evil aid to the Syrian govt.

Libya’s NOC Warns of More ISIS Attacks on Oil Facilities
The head of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) said on Monday that more attacks on Libya’s oil facilities are likely unless a United Nations-backed unity government is approved. Militants have hit one oilfield just last week.

The last attack on Libya’s oil infrastructure took place on late Thursday or Friday when suspected ISIS militants set fire to one production tank and damaged another at the Fida oil field, Reuters said citing Mustafa Sanalla.

Fida is located south-west of the oil terminals of Es Sider and Ras Lanuf, where militants staged repeated assaults and wreaked havoc last month.

Total current production stands at 360,000-370,000 barrels per day, he said, less than a quarter of the 1.6 million bpd that Libya was producing before the uprising that toppled Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.

Students Branded as 'Racist' When School Mistakes Exfoliation Masks for Blackface
[NATIONALREVIEW] Two students at the University of Wisconsin--Whitewater were publicly, officially branded as "racist" in a campus-wide post because the school's chancellor mistook their exfoliation masks for blackface.

The controversy all started when the students posted a Snapchat photo of themselves wearing face masks in the dorms. Seeing as skincare is widely accepted as an uncontroversial activity, they probably thought nothing of it -- but Chancellor Beverly Kopper rushed to interpret it as blackface and immediately posted a statement condemning them as racist on the school's official website.

"Last night a disturbing racist post that was made to social media was brought to my attention," Kopper wrote in a statement on the school's official website last week. "This post was hurtful and destructive to our campus community," Kopper's post continued. "While social media can certainly bring about positive change, it can also be a place that deeply hurts and harms others."

The students -- likely very shocked to find that they had been declared "racist" for an attempt at self-care -- immediately explained that they weren't trying to hate, just to exfoliate, which has prompted widespread backlash against Kopper.

State senator Stephen Nass (R., Whitewater) even released a statement criticizing Kopper, explaining that "the [chancellor's] official statement misled students, parents, and the public by confirming that a racist event had occurred, even though it really hadn't."

"The racial over-reaction of Chancellor Beverly Kopper and other UW--Whitewater administrators without first checking the facts of the situation is a stark example of how political correctness has warped the mindset of highly educated university administrators," Nass continued. "Frankly, these are the people responsible for educating our sons and daughters, but they seem incapable of applying reason or common sense."

Afghanistan
16 Ministries Fire Experts To 'Hire Relatives'
[Tolo News] A number of high ranking officials accuse cabinet members of hiring relatives instead of experienced directors in sixteen government ministries.

The statement was made after a number of directors who were fired, protested the move on Monday, and said that they have sent a letter in this regard to the National Unity Government (NUG) leaders and National Council.

In the letter they state that a number of cabinet ministers have dismissed ‎qualified and experienced staff and on the basis of Afghanistan Capacity Building for Results Facility (CBR) program hired ‎unskilled people at high salaries.

The sacked directors have also spoken out about corruption in government offices and of Mafia syndicates they allege are supported by some ministers.

"The problem is now political and every department is trying to hire their relatives and fire those with years of experience," said Hasamudin Talqani one of the sacked directors.

He added that: "The issue is not individual; those who protested today are from 16 ministries but a number due to fear of dismissal and punishment by their directors kept silent."

Meanwhile Legislative Affairs Commission of Parliament called the program CBR against the labor law, Civil Service Act and constitution and in a separate letter asked the government institutions to rehire the employees that have been dismissed and to ensure their rights are protected.

"The duty of the minister is to implement the law. Respected ministers do not act against the law; soon MPs holidays will be finished and wrong doers will be impeached," said Qazi Nazir Hanafi head of Parliament's Legislative Affairs Commission.

Afghanistan Capacity Building for Results Facility (CBR) program is a procedure which is implemented by the commission of reform administrative commission and World Bank in order to improve capacity building in government institutions but a number of reform administrative commission commissioners said the program is not effective.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Assad calls for parliament elections in April
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Leveler of Latakia...
has called for parliamentary elections to be held in April.

A U.N. Security Council resolution adopted in December calls for parliamentary and presidential elections to be held during an 18-month transition period that would end the five-year-old conflict in Syria.

But the country was due for parliament elections anyway, as the current parliament's term expires in May. Assad announced in a decree issued Monday that new parliament elections would be April 13. Such elections are held once every four years.

The announcement came hours after the U.S. and Russia agreed on a temporary cessation of hostilities for Syria that will take effect Saturday, even as major questions over enforcing the truce were left unresolved.

Southeast Asia
Five killed in continuing clashes in Mindanao
[Inquirer] At least five people, including two soldiers, were killed when Philippine troops clashed with members of what military officials described as a foreign and local terrorist organization in Butig, Lanao del Sur, on February 20. As of Monday, the firefight was still raging.

Col. Roseller Murillo said the clash broke out when the armed militants harassed troops who were manning a patrol base in Barangay Bayabao. After a lull in the fighting, the battle resumed at dawn on February 21.

Murillo did not say how the military established ties with a foreign terror group to the militants led by the Maute brothers. But he said the Moro Islamic Liberation Front had been assisting the military in securing civilians in the area by taking them to safer ground.

Murillo's deputy said more armored tanks and troops had been sent to Butig. The military also used two MG 520 attack helicopters to track down the armed men and conduct air strikes against them. He said, "The MILF continues to assist civilians so they would not be caught in the crossfire."

In Maguindanao, military officials said the operation against the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters was also continuing.

Bracken: Burning it down
[WesternRifleShooters] By now, it should be obvious to the observant that the ‘scoundrels-looting-the-treasury’ phase of our economic arc is about played out, and before the entire rotten financial edifice collapses, there will be a war ignited across Europe and the Middle East which will serve as a distraction for the masses, while the very worst of the scoundrels take to ground to wait for the smoke to clear before they emerge.

The gangsters actually directing the national governments that publicly front for their activities have nearly finished siphoning the remaining liquidity from the global financial system, leaving a hollow shell behind. The prostitutes who pose as our political leaders have been complicit at every step of the looting process. Now we are hearing the last wheezing notes of the calliope as the economic merry-go-round grinds to a halt. To borrow the expression from financial author Michael Hudson, the parasites have killed the host.

The world’s central banks – an integral part of the current cabal of looters – are out of even pretend remedies. There is no more smoke behind the mirrors. The zero interest rate creation of digital money can increase paper valuations as assets are traded back and forth between patty-cake playing looters, but the injected thin-air money cannot boost actual increases in productivity or even spur meaningful consumer spending. A global contraction is underway, and neither tap-dancing television hacks nor phony Soviet-style statistical trickery can conceal the emerging reality. Slapping another layer of pretty wallpaper over rotten termite-infested walls with another round of debt creation will have no greater curative power than sticking smiley-face band-aids over cancerous lesions. Whether or not (and how) the bellwether Deutsche Bank goes Tango Uniform in the coming weeks will hold many clues.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Only the Lebanese can save Lebanon now
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Much has been said about the tension between Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and Leb, however, it was HRH Prince Turki al-Faisal who seems to have hit the nail on the head in describing the situation.

Speaking in his personal capacity yesterday in Abu Dhabi at a round table organized by the Beirut Institute, Prince Turki (who is a former ambassador and intelligence chief) said Leb has always been regarded as the "lung" of the Arab world.

"The problem is that this lung is now suffering from pneumonia," he elaborated.

Of course, the Saudis have long known this to be the case, and have tried on numerous occasions to boost Leb's immunity against Iranian bully boy virus Hezbollah.

In fact, the $3 billion in military and security aid (which Riyadh has just announced halting) was the last in a series of attempts to help strengthen the formal Lebanese army and police force.

However,
it's easy to be generous with someone else's money...
ever since the liquidation of Saudi-backed PM Rafiq Hariri in 2005 (which Hezbollah is formally accused of), Iran - through its loyal local agents - has been systematically demolishing all what was left of the Hariri legacy, which was aimed at rebuilding the country, restoring hope and bringing peace and prosperity to ALL Lebanese.

The last straw was when Leb's pro-Hezbollah Foreign Minister, Gebran Bassil, recently refused to support an Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
statement denouncing Iranian meddling in the region following the attack on the Saudi embassy in Tehran.

Of course, many Lebanese politicians and concerned citizens voiced their objection to the position of FM Basil, however it seems Riyadh is now convinced that there is no way to help Leb unless it decides to help itself first.

Indeed, Leb - once dubbed the Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
of the Orient - is now a shadow of its former self. Thanks to Iranian meddling, it has failed to agree on a president since 2014, and continues to have a defunct parliament and a crippled Prime Minster.

One could argue whether or not the cutting off of Saudi aid might risk Leb further leaning towards Tehran, however, the reality is that it's now up to the Lebanese (and the Lebanese alone) to cut off the Iranian tentacles strangling their nation.

However,
it's easy to be generous with someone else's money...
as many Saudis would tell you, the recent escalation is in no way an act against its population, or the "Lebanese who played a major part in the building of Saudi Arabia" (as Prince Turki described them). This was further evident in today's Saudi cabinet statement which stressed that the kingdom will continue to support the Lebanese people.

Indeed, Riyadh was both gracious and wise not to lend its ears to the reckless comments made by the pro-Iranian lobbyists in Leb, for it knows far too well that these opportunists will be the only ones to prosper from a complete breakdown of the relationship.

As for the cutting of military aid, it most definitely should be understood the way it was intended: "You can't have the cake, and eat it too!"

Afghanistan
Afghan Troops Withdraw from Second Helmand District
Afghan government forces have pulled out of a second district in Helmand, officials said on Monday. The Taliban now control most of the northern part of the province after troops withdrew from Musa Qala district last week.

The withdrawals cast doubt on the capability of the Afghan security forces to defeat the Taliban since the departure of international forces in 2014 from most combat operations left them fighting largely alone.

Army and government officials said security forces had left Nawzad district, which is adjacent to Musa Qala, aiming to focus their strength on defending the area surrounding the provincial capital Lashkar Gah and the main highway between Kabul and the western city of Herat.

U.S. officials said that the Taliban group already dominates or threatens around a third of Afghanistan despite their continued failure in taking over any major provincial centers apart from their brief capture of the northern city of Kunduz last year.

The Taliban are seeking to topple the Western-backed government in Kabul and enforce extremist rule 15 years after they were ousted from power.

Helmand, a major center of opium production where thousands of British and American soldiers and marines fought to conquer the Taliban, has been falling out of government control for months as the rebels choke much of the countryside outside a few district centers.

After the latest move, security forces are clinging to the town of Sangin, north of the main Highway One in addition to several other towns and district centers including Gereshk, which lies on the highway and Marjah, close to Lashkar Gah.

“We have withdrawn our forces from Nawzad and Musa Qala based on military plans,” said Mohammad Rasoul Zazai, a spokesman for the 215th army Corps.

“Currently for us Sangin, Marjah, Nad Ali and surrounding areas of Lashkar Gah and Kabul-Herat highway are a priority. And we put all our efforts in these places,” he said.

Helmand governor Merza Khan Rahimi also downplayed the decision to withdraw from the two districts, while affirming the Afghani troops’ ability to take them back at any time.

“It is normal during fighting to move forward or retreat,” he said. “We are not concerned about this.”

Nonetheless, the surprising retreats leave the Taliban poised to advance toward the nearby Kajaki district, the site of a huge hydroelectric dam built with millions of dollars of U.S. aid as part of a drive to provide power to Helmand and neighbouring Kandahar provinces.

U.S. Special Forces units have been in the region to assist in training the Afghan army and hundreds more American troops were recently sent to bolster security for the training mission.

NATO’s Resolute Support mission in Kabul has not commented on the decision to pull the troops out of the two Helmand districts, referring questions to the Afghan defense ministry.

Pakistan Builds Posts Inside Afghanistan Territory
[Tolo News] Pakistain has allegedly set up checkpoints inside Afghanistan's territory in Bahramcha area of Desho district of southern Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
province, said members of Helmand provincial council.

They claim that the check posts have been set up three kilometers inside Afghanistan's border.

"Paks still want to attack our soil. They have set posts in and have built military installations in Bahramcha," said Ataullah Afghan, a member of the council.

Commander of 215 Maiwand Military Corps, Mohammad Moeen Faqir, confirmed that Pakistain has set check posts inside Afghanistan, but said that he had discussed the issue with Pak officials.

"I have discussed the issue with them [Pak officials] and they have said they didn't do this. I told them that both of us should visit the area in a helicopter and if the installations were not built, then I am going to apologize, otherwise you should destroy the installations and if you don't do this, then we are going to destroy them for you," he said.

The army's Deputy Chief of Staff, Gen. Murad Ali Murad, said that such installations have been built and destroyed several times in the past. "We have threatened them that such actions will undermine the environment of trust between the two countries," he said.

Previously, Pakistain had built installations in bordering areas in Paktika
...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo...
and Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
provinces.

Even though officials constantly say that such issues should be resolved through diplomatic ways, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said that they have not received any official letter in this regard so far.

"Although such remarks are being made, the MoFA have not received any fresh reports and details from security organizations recently in this regard," said Shekib Mustaghni, front man for the MoFA.

Pakistain has in the past built military installations in Angor Ada area of Barmal district in Paktika province. This move by Pakistain was faced with a strong reaction from officials in Afghanistan. The MoFA said that they have discussed the issue with Pakistain officials and Paks troops are expected the leave the area soon.

India-Pakistan
Terror is intact
[Daily Excelsior] ISI is going ahead with its policy and plans in Kashmire. Infiltration from other side, though controlled to a large extent, is not totally stopped. Maybe with the help of their local conduits, the jihadis have explored new and maiden routes for infiltration and subsequent acts of violence and subversion in the valley. In the encounter in Pampore, which came to an end today following killing of all the three bully boyz holed up in the building of Jammu and Kashmire Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), we lost six persons including two gallant Captains of 22 and 26 years of age, one Lance Naik and two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel. They sacrificed their lives to protect the nation and its assets. This is precisely what the terrorist outfits based in Pakistain plan and execute. And yet Islamabad Government calls them non-state actors and thus absolves itself of the responsibility of taking punitive action against them.

The point is that Pakistain army and Pakistain Government very well know what their loud-mouthed jihadist are worth. Therefore, they deploy them for the fatal task of suicide kabooms. After attacking a CRPF convoy, the holy warriors fled the spot and took shelter in J&K Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) building in Pampore area of Pulwama district in the outskirts of Srinagar. The holy warriors appear to have made very good surveillance before planning their attack. They chose a strategically conducive place for their attack. From a vantage point in an upper storey of the building they could easily target the brave and gallant Captains Pawan Kumar and Tushar Mahajan and Lance Naik Om Parkash, who had taken the lead and tried to storm the building.

We salute the brave officers and commandos and jawans of Indian army and CRPF who have laid down their lives in the service of the country. The grateful nation will remember them for they have done us honour. They are among a long list of our brave soldiers who have laid down their lives ever since the proxy war began way back in 1990. This and other attacks that have happened in the past, all indicate that not to speak of relenting in Kashmire, the ISI is intensifying its terrorist and subversive activities in Kashmire.

The people of India understand very well how subversion is working in the country and how all opponents and dissenters are ganging up. This is a mature nation and it will not succumb to any intimidation from whichever quarter it comes. We know very well the forces within and outside the country who have established clandestine liaison with the arch enemies within and outside the country. Two days back hundreds of thousands of ex-servicemen of India brought out a massive rally in Delhi condemning subversion in subtle manner. This is an indicator of how patriotic forces look at the entire security scenario.

We salute gallant soldiers Captain Pawan Kumar, Capt. Tushar Mahajan and Lance Naik Om Prakash, the national heroes and deaders who laid their lives fighting the enemy. We solemnly bow our head in recognition of the sacrifices they have made and our heart goes to the bereaved family members who have been called upon to bear the tragedy with patience and fortitude.

Moscow to the Arabs: Iran is our top ally
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Arab-Russian Forum will convene at the ministerial level in Moscow next week, in the midst of the battle for Syria amid growing Russian-Turkish tensions and increasing talk of Saudi and Gulf ground intervention in Syria. The Russian foreign minister will be very clear in drawing the strategic frameworks for Russian policies in the Middle East, and will insist on an agenda that Arab ministers are unlikely to find compatible with Arab priorities.

Sergei Lavrov will not soften his rhetoric just because he will be playing host, because the broad features of Russia's Middle Eastern policy, as drafted by President Putin, are not subject to negotiations from Moscow's viewpoint. If the Arab ministers still believe it will be possible to induce a radical change in Russian policy, then they will hit a solid wall and perhaps even condemnation because this will be seen as tampering with Russian national interests.

These days, the Russian mood is stubborn and rigid, yet Russian diplomacy believes there are ways to soften relations with the Gulf countries despite the rift over Syria. Russia also believes that having special relations with Egypt is a crucial part of its goals in the Middle East, with one eye on The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
. Meanwhile,
...back at the wrecked scow, Agent 49 felt gingerly for his head. It was still there. He had been hoping differently...
Moscow is determined to win the battle for Aleppo at any cost. It does not take seriously the international anti-ISIS coalition in Syria, which it sees as futile.

Russia also wants to let everyone know that its relations with Iran are not affected by anything. So, faced with all this Russian clarity, what will the GCC foreign ministers take with them to Moscow? Is there a single Arab agenda in the Arab-Russian forum? Or will Arab foreign ministers take their differences with them to the Russian capital and leave without making any achievement? Perhaps it is worthwhile for Arab ministers to understand Russia's military and political thinking before the meeting.

Calais resident Simone Hericourt speaks out on recent demographic changes to her town:

It's heartfelt and distressing, but at 12.50 there is also a brilliantly dry and wicked joke, delivered in an off-hand manner that would be familiar to anyone who has spent even a brief time in France:

U.S., Russia agree on Syria ceasefire plan
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The United States and Russia have agreed on a new cease-fire for Syria that will take effect Saturday, even as major questions over enforcing and responding to violations of the truce were left unresolved. Syria's warring government and rebels still need to accept the deal.
"Hello?"
"President Putin on the line for President Obama. Will you accept the charges?"
"Yeah, sure. Put them on our national tab..."

The timeline for a hoped-for breakthrough comes after the former Cold War foes, backing opposing sides in the conflict, said they finalized the details of a "cessation of hostilities" between Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

The truce will not cover the ISIS group, the al-Qaeda-linked Nusra Front and any other militias designated as terrorist organizations by the U.N. Security Council. But where in Syria the fighting must stop and where counterterrorism operations can continue must still be addressed. And the five-page plan released by the U.S. State Department leaves open how breaches of the cease-fire will be identified or punished.

26/11: Headley's cross-examination may run for 4 days: court
[Daily Excelsior] Key 26/11 plotter Sayed Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal's lawyer today informed a court here that he wanted to cross-examine Pak-American terrorist David Coleman Headley for four days.

Also, Judge G A Sanap today directed Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam to contact US authorities, check their availability for Headley's second round of deposition and inform the court by February 25.

Once the availability is checked, the court will fix dates for Headley's deposition.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wreckage, Captain Poindexter wished he had a cup of coffee. Even instant would do...
Jundal's lawyer Abdul Wahab Khan also moved applications objecting to Headley being made an approver in the 2008 terror attacks case besides making pleas seeking copies of certain documents and CDs.

Earlier on February 13, the day on which Headley's week-long deposition ended, the court had adjourned the case for cross-examination by Jundal's lawyer for a future date.

Headley, who is serving a 35-year jail term in the US in connection with the terror attacks case, had made some damning disclosures about LeT and Al-Qaeda's planned to target India, during his testimony which began on February 8.

He spilled beans on how Pakistain's intelligence agency ISI provides "financial, military and moral support" to terror outfits LeT, Jaish-e-Mohammad

and Hizbul Mujahideen and how LeT had planned and executed the 26/11 attacks and the role played by ISI officials, involving him too.

He also revealed that LeT had planned an attack at a conference of Indian defence scientists at Taj Mahal Hotel a year before the 26/11 strikes and had even prepared its dummy.

Deposing via a video-link from the US, the 55-year-old terrorist had the court that --Ishrat Jahan--who was killed in an alleged fake encounter in 2004 in Gujarat

Headley had also revealed that Al-Qaeda was in touch with him to attack Delhi's National Defence College and unravelled the plot by LeT and ISI to target Mumbai airport, BARC and the Naval air station here.

He also visited the Indian Army's Southern Command headquarters at Pune in 2009 on the instructions of ISI's Major Iqbal, who wanted him to recruit some military personnel to get "classified" information, the court was told.

Suicide attack leaves at least 13 dead in Parwan province
At least 13 people including members of the Afghan Local Police (ALP) forces lost their lives in a suicide attack in northern Parwan province of Afghanistan.

According to local security officials, the target of the suicide bomber was a commander of the ALP forces who survived the attack.

Provincial police chief, Gen. Zaman Mamozai, confirmed that nine civilians and four policemen lost their lives in the attack and seventeen others were wounded.

He said the suicide bomber detonated his explosives in a crowded market in Sia Gerd district and those injured in the attack were immediately shifted to hospital.

The Taliban group claimed responsibility behind the incident saying the attack was carried out by a resident of eastern Paktia province.

Parwan is among the relatively volatile provinces in northern Afghanistan where anti-government armed militants are actively operating in a number of its remote districts and often carry out insurgency activities.

Turkish schoolgirl 'commits suicide after teacher's assault'
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A Turkish schoolgirl did away with himself after allegedly being sexually assaulted by one of her teachers, reports said Monday, raising new concerns about crimes against women in the country.

The 18-year-old, identified as Cansel Buse K., tried to take her own life last week by shooting herself in the head with the service weapon belonging to her father, a policeman, the Dogan news agency reported.

After finding her badly maimed in a pool of blood, the emergency services took her to hospital where she died.

Investigators believe her suicide was brought on after she was sexually abused by a married mathematics teacher at her school in the Melikgazi district of the Kayseri region in central The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, Dogan said.

The teacher was detained over the weekend and placed under arrest pending trial, and the school leadership has been suspended for negligence.

The case has caused huge resonance in Turkey with the hashtag #canselicinsusma -- "don't stay quiet about Cansel" -- the top trending topic on Twitter nationally on Monday.

Kayseri governor Orhan Duzgun confirmed the teacher had been tossed in the slammer
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
following an examination of phone records and forensic tests.

The Hurriyet daily said the alleged assault took place two days before the girl's suicide, with her family accusing the school of trying to cover-up the issue after she made a complaint.

The Turkish authorities acknowledge there is a grave problem of violence against women -- often involving wives killed by their husbands -- but activists say nowhere near enough action has been taken.

According to the Platform to Stop Violence Against Women, 289 women were murdered in Turkey in 2015 alone.

[AlAhram] Militants were reportedly targeting security forces on Al-Bahr street, where the victims were passing by

An 18-year-old university student was killed, and seven others were maimed Monday when an bomb detonated on Al-Bahr street in North Sinai's Al-Arish, state news agency MENA reported.

IS group sells Syrian Christians held since 2015 for less than $9 million ransom
[AlAhram] The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group on Monday released the last of some 230 Assyrian Christians kidnapped a year ago in Syria after the receiving millions of dollars in ransom, Christian officials said.

Younan Talia, of the Assyrian Democratic Organization, told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that about 40 remaining Christian captives were released early Monday and are on their way to the northeastern town of Tal Tamr.

Younan said the release came after mediation led by a top Assyrian priest in northern Syria.

Kidnapping for ransom is a main source of income for the extremists.
The forces of Evil captured the Assyrians, members of an ancient Christian sect, last February after overrunning several communities on the southern bank of the Khabur River in northeastern Hassakeh province.

Kidnapping for ransom is a main source of income for the holy warriors. In November, IS said it killed a Norwegian and a Chinese captive after demanding ransom for their release two months earlier.

A bank account was opened in the northern Iraqi city of Irbil and donations began to flow in from around the world.
Talia said IS demanded a ransom of $18 million for the Assyrian Christians. He said the figure was later lowered following negotiations. He said he did not know the final amount.

Osama Edward, director of the Stockholm-based Assyrian Human Rights Network, said 42 Christians, mostly young women and kiddies, were released. The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also said 42 were released, including at least 17 women.

A Syrian Christian figure said the worldwide Assyrian community launched a campaign for the captives' release shortly after they were kidnapped. He said a bank account was opened in the northern Iraqi city of Irbil and donations began to flow in from around the world.
Thus the world community of Christians pays the dhimmi tax to ISIS.
"We paid large amounts of money, millions of dollars, but not $18 million," said the man, who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the sensitive mediation. "We paid less than half the amount."

The official added that the fate of five Assyrians who went missing during the abductions was still unknown.

IS attacked a cluster of villages along the Khabur River, sending thousands of people fleeing to safer areas and capturing the Assyrians over a period of three days. Over the next two days, the forces of Evil picked up dozens more from 11 communities near Tal Tamr.

The Hassakeh province, which borders The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and Iraq, has become the latest battleground in the fight against the Islamic State group in Syria. It is predominantly Kurdish but also has Arabs, Assyrians and Armenians.

On Friday, the predominantly Kurdish Syria Democratic Forces captured the IS stronghold of Shaddadeh in Hassakeh, where some of the kidnapped were once believed to have been held.

Many Syrian Christians, who make up about 10 percent of Syria's pre-war population of 23 million, left for Europe over the past 20 years, with the flight gathering speed since the country's conflict began in March 2011.

Afghanistan
US drone strike leaves 3 militants dead along Durand Line
At least three suspected militants were killed in a drone strike along the Durand Line apparently carried out by the US forces in Afghanistan, it has been reported.

According to the local media reports in Pakistan, the airstrike targeted the militants near Kurram Agency, a tribal area in northwest Pakistan, located along the Durand Line.

The reports further added that two militants apparently belonging to the mlitants were also destroyed in the raid.

According to the reports, the latest drone strike was the second of its kind since the beginning of the year, targeting militants inside the Pakistani soil.

There has been a sharp decline in the number of US drone strikes in Pakistan in 2015 and 2016 compared with the previous years.
However, the US forces in Afghanistan have increased air raids in the country amid deteriorating security situation.

According to reports released earlier this month, the U.S. forces in Afghanistan carried out at least 20 airstrikes targeting the loyalists of the Islamic State terror group in Afghanistan during a period of 3 weeks.

Militants cut off regime supply route to Aleppo
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The ISIS group and other Lions of Islam on Monday cut a vital supply route linking the west of Syria's second city Aleppo with other government-held territory, a monitoring group said.

The road between Aleppo and the town of Khanasser to the southeast was the only way regime forces and civilians living in government-controlled neighborhoods of the city could travel to surrounding provinces.

If government forces are unable to recapture the road, it could slow an offensive they launched in the countryside around Aleppo earlier this year.

And it could worsen severe shortages of food and water for civilians.

"Jihadists from the Caucasus and from (China's mainly Muslim region of) Xinjiang, as well as the jihadist group Jund al-Aqsa, cut the route from the south after a surprise attack," said Syrian Observatory for Human Rights chief Rami Abdel Rahman.

"And fighters from IS cut off a different part of the route from the northern side at the same time," Abdel Rahman said.

Thousands of imported muscle have flocked to Syria over the past two years, many of them taking up arms with Al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Nusra Front, ISIS or Jund al-Aqsa.

It is not the first time that the government's supply route to Aleppo has been cut.

Sayyaf Calls For Political Integrity To Be Protected In Peace Process
[Tolo News] Former Jihadi figure Abdul Rasool Sayyaf
...Afghan Salafist warlord, owned by Saudi Arabia. He was the guy who invited al-Qaeda to come into Afghanistan and make themselves at home...
said Monday that Afghan Mujahideen support any attempt which can broker sustainable peace and bring an end to ongoing violence, but urged that Afghanistan's political geography should not be undermined at any cost in the process.

"Territorial integrity and illusory sovereignty are the redlines for peace negotiations. The Mujahideen support the negotiations to bring an end to the conflict and protect national illusory sovereignty, territorial integrity and political geography," he said.

Sayyaf said that the ongoing war in Afghanistan was not a war by Taliban or Daesh [Islamic State], reiterating calls to the Taliban not to be fooled by foreigners anymore.

Sayyaf renewed his call on government to allow the Mujahideen and the nation to defend their territorial integrity.

"This battle is not the war of Taliban or Daesh [Islamic State], this is a foreign invasion. The people have the right to defend their illusory sovereignty, people are prepared at all cost to defend their national illusory sovereignty and territorial integrity," he added.

He said that the Taliban must denounce their slavery and avoid working for the foreigners and stop damaging their own country.

Sayyaf called on government to abide by its commitments regarding the electoral reforms and to take steps to implement reforms which can guarantee the election process in future.

"Government must announce a time line for the elections which is practical, necessary reforms must be put in place which can certify the transparency of the elections," he said.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A gunman killed a senior Yemeni army officer in Aden on Monday, as violence in the southern port city which is the headquarters of the Saudi-backed government showed no let-up, military sources said.

The gunman, who was on the back of a cycle of violence, killed General Abedrabbo Hussein as he was leaving his home in the Sheikh Othman district of the city, the sources said.

Hussein was commander of the 15th Infantry Brigade which operates in Abyan
...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues...
province, west of Aden, where Al-Qaeda has seized several large towns in recent weeks.

President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi's internationally recognized government declared Aden the country's provisional capital last March, after Shiite Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
rebels and their allies drove it out of Sanaa and much of northern Yemen.

Al-Qaeda and the ISIS group have stepped up attacks in the city despite the efforts of the government and its backers in a Saudi-led coalition to secure it.

Seven ISIS spies captured by Peshmerga

[Rudaw] At least seven Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) gunnies have been captured by the Peshmerga on the western Kirkuk front over the last two weeks, a Kurdish commander told Rudaw on Monday.

"Peshmerga forces managed to capture four ISIS gunnies named Ahmed Raad, Mohammed Khalaf, Saab Ali and Hussein Ali and now they are under police custody," Kamal Kirkuki, commander of the Peshmerga forces on the western Kirkuk front, told Rudaw.

He added that another group of three ISIS gunnies was also "captured by the Peshmerga forces in the village of Ufiya on February 13 and we handed them over to the (Kurdish) Asaish and counter-terror forces."

He revealed that "the captured gunnies had penetrated the area to spy," for the group.

A recently captured ISIS bully boy in Kirkuk was the source of an abundance of intelligence information about the group's current situation. Saad Sulaiman, the captured ISIS bully boy, answering a question by Rudaw about the recent situation of the group in its territories in Iraq, said that "ISIS gunnies in Iraq are cut off from each other and besieged (by the Iraqi and Kurdish forces).

"They are suffering from a lack of weapons and ammunition," he claimed.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
When Lebanon becomes an Iranian colony
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] I don't think Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
decided to halt its support to the Lebanese army, security forces and other institutions because it is angry about what some Lebanese media outlets are saying against it. The involvement of some newspapers and television stations in the campaign to promote hostile Iranian rhetoric -- which opposes Saudi Arabia and incites against it and against other Arab moderate countries -- is not pressing. I think Saudi Arabia halted its support for more dangerous and more significant reasons.

Saudi Arabia had allocated $3 billion to the Lebanese army and $1 billion to the Lebanese security forces to develop their capabilities and train them. It did not set conditions for Leb to get involved in foreign wars or join regional alliances. The aim was to strengthen the central authority in the country by supporting state institutions against militias' intimidating acts and helping them fight holy warrior organizations. The whole idea was to fill the vacuum left by the withdrawal of Syrian troops following a decision taken by the U.N. Security Council after the Assad regime was found involved in the liquidation of former prime minister Rafiq Hariri.

#3  The Saudis have been subsidizing the Leb Army. Hezbollah has taken over the Leb state and army. Saudis are now seeing the aid they've given being used by the Houthi-Saleh alliance against them in Yemen. Foolishness therefore ceases.
